"Which is you know. it's starting off the same way. There has been there was no celona. There was no campus. There was no. I mean you name. It design event insert here. There was none of this. So if for for the industry that really traditionally has been the lifeblood of the industry when it comes to discovery specification of new product. New materials really seeing. What's out there and then incorporating it into into your work how do you. How have you been doing that. You know it's it's an interesting conversation in a to. Some degree is kind of sad. I don't think that we as designers started getting hit really really hard until the fall like feeling it doing that like ooh. Something's missing you know. Where's that inspiration coming from. You know we are relying a lot on what we see published in magazines We're relying on you know. Internet searches searches. Fortunately our design centers are open Particularly here in dc. But he's also lack of spirit. There's a spirit that's missing. there's a missing. It feels like beer. You know when you're moving around. It feels like this is not quite right so i do think that it is bit of a downtime and i think that for myself as you know as well as other designers that i that i chat with an unfriendly with. We're all trying to figure out where we're getting our inspiration from so i do find myself reading. More design oriented books. I find myself spending as much time outside as i possibly can. And even when it's cold. I like sit in a chair and i just look up at the tree like. Oh hey here's a squirrel you know but it's like right now Right now it is. It's the little things i recently did. A guest editorship for designers today With jane dabney and one of the articles was about the little things. Like it's it's not these extraordinary moments. These extraordinary things that are giving lip during his time. It's like all of these tiny little things like. oh yeah. Hey that's a that's that leaf is interesting or that. Hey look at that candle burning and smell it so in a way. It's actually even an opportunity to remember what we'd forgot an absolute yeah absolutely brilliant and in addition to that. Remember what you'd forgotten but also to learn and experience something new. I equate this to you. Know someone who who becomes blind There's their other senses kick in you. Know they're hearing becomes better that the the other senses sort of kick in. I think that we have lost When you talk about inspiration you know in in a long time doing this. And having these conversations the number one source of inspiration has has always been. Since i've been doing this. It's always been travel. Yeah it's always been traveled and that clearly is something that hasn't happened and because of that it has forced people designers to sort of look inside and i've been having amazing questions answered by designers like what does that design smell.

"In barcelona about this encounter. Let's say we cannot say there is fear of almost the supporters are really worried about the game when he drains him barcelona. Lately it pours. We have another longtime injury. Is i think rates redgate for three four months injury. You sign it another ford word. Kuna word all. We haven't seen him one minute. He's still will have to the end of october. Two fatty is probably the most exciting stryker. Now in this team. We're not going to see him for two three weeks list also as mandela. So you have the most difficult game in a long time because of course you need to recover a little bit from that humilation one year and a half ago in style delusion lisbor and you have two strikers memphis by who is doing really well and the young. The young who was the third fourth war in syria. So it doesn't look like the best scenario probably the best Common weapon against industrial is that we have no idea how he's going to play who haven't seen barcelona for sixteen days. Now we're still don't know which system is he going to use. Maybe he will be back to three central defendants. So probably that only web on he has from the payers inspiration of martin ragweed but of course of course. There is a lot of concern him barcelona against these game because we they cannot hold another humiliation yan on the other side of things. What's it being seen. Can the buying camp whether it's amazing would by okay. It's it's like the the balancing. The team is unbelievable. We just hope that it'd be some excitement. This should have legal waiting for nine years to be honest. But the coroner not with at the back with correct scar and kim mates baking. Balancing teams would not be sunday. Ucr level dot ski. I i would say that. By unique to twelve thirteen best players that they can keep them taking compete for the best. There were a lot of stories today in germany that humiliation of bustle collins room and he said he couldn't believe i couldn't believe my eyes that we would do this to to to great celona there were stories about ernest telling alabama when you said you're going to negotiate with salona and he asked. Are you going to negotiate with their head of the bankrupt club or something like that. Sold it still at this. I would see by munich. Asked because look good now and a lot of players away on international duty hans flick is doing tried to make germany. Looks like f- sit by bennie. Need to the players still coming back very convincingly beating gsa march a touch of the week we can in in germany so i will have by munich as not clear favorites. Because it's salona. But i would have the most favorites l. Savvy in the team will be looking back on that game in the champions league and the others in tomorrow show. don't forget the espn fc.

"It was time under product was created. You know they were not the resources not last forever which we were. Uh shoot wrong. Researchers are almost endless bed by using those resources. We're destroying the planet but it's not the big difference of david really thinking holiday inn west the resources as well as possible. I think it will be around. Long time this sinking. Definitely we should zoom out a little bit about milan design week. Because it's not the usual celona but you know looking at all the crowds of people. Yeah it's very busy. So why was it important for you as a brand to be here and be present in september really. I think the city looks very crowded. Surpressed hope because i've been just after its reopened last year had been in venice and that was almost the only one looking over for marcus. I think we have come a long way. I think tourists back in laugh seems back almost as usual. The only thing is of course you have some restrictions with people innuendo and of course it is not as a massive anti as it used to be two years ago but maybe it was time for maybe more quality and less quantity this show. I completely agree. It was too big. I think in a way celona play and now it's a very nice size. I should maybe mention if you multiple things that we've done with you guys that we created these incredible bikes which are in our space here which people are able to enter a competition. Maybe can you just share some information about the competition. First of all you can only.

"Jemma is back with us on an hours. Okay i can tell you. Many many things i i think you have to try to learn. Some gorgon is the name of the stadium. I know is not very easy for your guys. Mendizorroza rafa. We're quite guel very well very well. also you. Nah call the team. L. gloria so the glory or baba. Soro's this is. The name of the people in the area is small team but very proud they have an amazing atmosphere there in mendizorroza. You know in two thousand seventeen. They even play a final papa. Ray against f. C celona latest speed. But of course something very deep for these humble team but seen them they have been struggling last year's actually last year they go about to be relegated like a twelve much before the end of the season but they decided to change the coach. They have a house with a big experience with via rail and he managed to push the team. They were in a winning streak streak. They were going forward of last five matches and they managed to escape from relegation. It's more or less the same team and they have a big problem. It's colored wholesale their best player and he wants to leave and he wants to.

"Decoration country to tell me more about the title and a little preview of their upcoming september issue. I spoke to their editor in chief. Ben breaks here in studio midori house. I'll decorations very much about an emotional connection to the home. And that involves of design and interiors. But it's it's it's kind of what's the context of where we live and how we react to it. How long have you been working there. Been i've been here for. Its i've been there for about six years on this. Stint i had a break before three or four years prior to that as well ahead of time at the sunday times on the stall maxine there as well so yes. I've always had affinity with decoration. I love love the title and correct me from rome. Were of course since the pandemic started last year very difficult times even for for our industry as well but i feel the magazines like yours. The deal with home. I think they became more important than ever. I became more of a consumer of those types of magazines for some reason. Absolutely i think you know a lot of us have always had a connection to interiors in the home but with the pandemic with everyone having literally being forced to stay at home the whole time everyone became so much more connected to the home in what it represented. How how they felt about it. I think working from home. There sat around their kitchen tables looking at the kitchen going. Oh let's our. I want to change this so i think people just start to look at the home in a completely different lights and i think that's continuing the pretending to the office is not a big thing. I don't think yet so. I think it's definitely something that's changed completely and tell me about the extradition of our decoration fingers. Such a nice compliment the main tie to the quite a few of them. I have in front of me. I bought a little bit earlier in the month. Elle decoration country which. I mean magnificent houses there is so it's good to drink a little bit absolutely absolutely so that the big thing about decoration. You know the the main magazine is very much focused on urban environments urban living. So we've always think about seven years ago. We wanted to kind of do another title that represented the same aesthetic but in more rural coastal different locations around the world that weren't necessarily urban and therefore we decided to come into the idea of l. Decoration country now has very much the same values in the same kind of aesthetic in the homes that we feature in that but they're more kind of different location and i'm very curious about those things. I mean eh decoration. Does he have other international editions. Right do you work closely together. With other editors how does he work this kind of sharing comb. We do a little bit of sharing. So it's an amazing network. We the the brand is actually owned by like day. Which is a french. Owned media brand media company. sorry and we. I think it lost count. I think it was twenty six global edition so it's it's really diverse and really varied and each of them are very different and they represent the local markets perfectly. Which is interesting when you look at them because they are very different. We have an intangible conference once a year usually during celona in milan. Obviously that's been tricky this last couple of years but we do have ongoing dialogue between myself and the other editors-in-chief around the world and there is yeah it's interesting to see what kind of seeing trends they kind of in their markets is current happening within a market. What about I was asking you about for example. Is there any connection because a finger quite two different titles. I'm sure you can read both of course but tell me. Do feel very different. I think you know essentially we always call l. decoration the stall magazine for the home so it has its has its roots in the fashion heritage of the brand. But we don't in the uk in nine hundred thousand nine so it's over thirty years old now so in that time we've very much developed her own identity away from the l. brand and now we have quite different audience quite different demographic but we still have that kind of you know that fashion sensibility in that style sensibility. In the way we tackle home in how people react to it. And i'm gonna ask a question. I think i know the answer but I believe the brand very much believes in prince. Still and i say this because you don't not only have the monthly title but those extra titles eight. You don't see that to other kind of design publications as well must be a lot of work has all. But i'm i'm sure there's a market for it. People want to read that as always had that thing that people people collect it people kind of keep it people refer back to it you know digital additions are increasing popularity. Our website is becoming more and more kind of referred to but but the print is very much the heart of the brand. And so it's it's it's very key. L. decoration is almost like a people use as kind of a description as a as a way to kind of refer to an anesthetic. Something looks very decoration. And so it's it's such a kind of strong place. People's are i think and i've seen the covers a very appealing as i have the august edition in front of me The art special again. I lived the design bid kind of the orange with yellow. I think it's quite a summary. And i have to say i mean it's an august addition but if he's quite food full of pages if that's quite impressive i must add absolutely and it's i think it's been interesting you know we've done well during the pandemic i think as we were talking about people's ah so into the home and during projects and so we've managed to maintain pagination. We managed to maintain the number of issues. So we've kept that kind of going through that period which has been great and the design is so key and it has to be kind of engaging has to have a great creative director who we work very closely on the covers and how it speaks to people then. I wonder if we could give us a little preview of the september. Issue this for design if the september dish is also quite right absolutely very much like the fashion ideas september. She was big. It's kind of coming out to the summer. Everyone's back to work but more focused. It's it's a really important time of the year and yes so september for us so our theme is very much. it's kind of. It's time for calm. I think again. We have the connection to what's going on in the wider world. And so. I think there's still this idea of people still anxious coming out with the pandemic see in the u. k. Things still slightly up in the air. So it's looking at yes okay. Things may be opening up. Our socialized may be kind of reigniting. Home is still important and this whole idea of people will still be having that renewed kind of refound love for the home and so and why. It's so important so we're doing that. We obviously will also focused on london. Design festival kind of coming up at the end of september and lots of talk about new seasons products and and we are great shoots. That's been done by at least rossinot out in italy and that's about curvy of very kind of finish that gives you a hug which is kind of again. This positive fail there was. Ben speaks there.

We're not throwing them away you know. Let's be those people that they're badgering with questions. Like where did you get that. How do i get my hands on that. I want to be part of this movement while yeah in can thanks for those kind words men just using what we can while we can. I think that's the best that we can do You know in any kind of circumstance and You know being being a part of things like what what you're doing is so inspiring allowing other voices to be heard And just it's such an art form right. You know this this thing. And just the whole side of setting into a character but Honoring also the the writer and a creative process and a bigger thing that has been such a training tool for me now to try my best to only be vessel with with the great things that come in life and i consider you to be a great inspiration of the seat that you're at where you're sitting.
The Impossible Disappearance of Brian Shaffer
"At one fifteen. Am the security camera posted outside. The bar caught. Brian clinton meredith riding up the escalator and extensively heading for the ugly tuna celona forty minutes later at one fifty five. Brian can be seen again on the same security camera chatting with a couple of women out side the bar two security guards stand a few feet away most likely getting ready for the bar crowd to leave after last call at two. Am honestly even thinking about being at a bar at two am makes me tired on the security camera footage. Brian can be seen walking toward the entrance of the bar. But the actual entrance of the bar itself is out of frame as the drunken horrid of college. Students poured out of the bar at closing time. Clint and meredith waited outside for bryant. They called him on his cellphone but he didn't pick up in clinton back inside and check the bathroom but he wasn't there. Clinton meredith then made the assumption that brian had already left and hadn't told them folks. Can we please normalize not leaving your friends at bars. Just because you can't get a hold of them like unless they explicitly said you go ahead. I'll stay here and or they're not like incoherently drunk. Don't leave without your friend. Who gave you know warning that they were going somewhere. Well that's not. How clinton and meredith handle the situation. They assumed nothing was wrong and left But the next morning no one had heard from. Brian girlfriend tried calling him. His father tried calling him. He didn't pickup and then on monday morning. Brian was a no show at the airport for his flight. To miami with alexis by this point nobody had heard from him for almost forty eight hours. That's when everyone officially stopped assuming nothing was his family finally called columbus. Police department filed a missing persons report and shortly thereafter. The search for brian schaefer began

"What a huge wayne football celona round led by one dollars two. Now it moot like this is going to be two points. Trump verona coon site but ballet's ninetieth minute go his boss all three points. Let's just remind you how things stood back. In matchday twenty one athletes were absolutely cruising no problem whatsoever eleven points player of barcelona and real madrid. Let's fast forward now showy to now twenty nine gains played just three points rate up to how gap has been close faster just one point behind it really is quite extraordinary julianne. I'm the wrong is with us as well to reflect on the title race which is now very much on in spain. Joel's massively and how things have changed if you look at the first fourteen games for boston. I six wins four draws and four defeats if you look at the fifteen. After he's fourteen wins and one draw. They've been exceptionally in two thousand and twenty one and even tonight where if the game after the international break. Everybody's tired matiz no on on. This is the first time in twenty two and one way doesn't score find a way to change formation three times and they find where we've who's mandela who's been fantastic as well apart from the first half of the party against peers should have been so clerked for this team so good for them and for him to get the winner as i think he's summarize really want to half of the season that we've seen for so far
Wandering Madrid and talking Cost of Living in Spain
"Of all i will duck into my local cafe and get a cup of coffee. We'll see how much a cup of coffee costs. Let's sit down. And i'll run through some comparisons with cost of living in spain and other cities as around the world. I went out and opponents. Room tara potter so i got my cup of coffee. I ordered a which is a short coffee. Little splash of milk. My coffee came to the princely sum of one euro and forty cents pretty much suspended price madrid and spain in here with the social distancing measures in effect. I'm just telling you look man chalkboard to see what they thought on offer for food. The on as i think the average price of a fairly representative i would say Typical baas around the campus little on the average price seems to be eight or nine years for iraq. You on another point. Generous portions of food which can be shared between two or three people. I suppose so. We've got seven euros with bob. Problems seven plates of hamilton and kosovo seven euros of seven-year-olds snails. Got gotta call is six. We got sandwiches. Ideals were about four euros. Three hundred fifty super affordable. Some things that do surprise of which. I consider a little bit pricey i suppose is some seafood can be expensive even though spain is a nature of seafood consumers. But certainly things like Octopus for example. I can see arafura of purple. I like data which is a galaxy in style octopus fifteen-year-olds for plate octopus got up. There chip it on his which some of my favorites like frying baby cussing fish. I suppose and eleven euros for play to chop beatles lusa which are absolutely delicious. I must say if we're talking about beer and wine in our like this where i am now about growth little kanye which is about two hundred mils of beer. It's going to cost something like one. Thirteen one forty. Maybe one fifty a large science at aa probably about two years to fifty so very affordable wine around the same price for a small glass of wine fairly normal local one. I suppose it's gonna cost you between one eight hundred eighty something like that but why wanted to run through the kind of ranking of spanish cities in terms of their affordability living the cost of living. It's a question. I've been asked quite a lot in the past from listeners. Interested in moving to spain. How much things cost rents accommodation utility bills and back kind of thing and this is run through the list of cities in terms of cost of living as twenty twenty. According to my research the most expensive city in terms of cost of living is actually be bad. And that doesn't surprise me. I've heard that me. Bow son sebastian. Up in the north of spain expensive cities number two on the list so the second most expensive city in spain is cheap. Celona and again. This does not surprise me mean i suppose. Many people would imagine that madrid being capital city would be more expensive now. It seems to me rental prices and property prices between madrid and barcelona fairly similar course does tend to be a little bit more expensive in. Barcelona is your daily cost of living. The third most expensive city is of course madrid which makes sense for a capital city european capital again. I've got to say in my experience of european capital cities. Madrid has got to be up there with some of the most affordable capital cities that you could live in fourth most expensive as photographer number. Five is pulmoddai orca number six on the list surprisingly granada down and luthier the seventh. Most expensive is number. Eight is valencia. Now that's interesting series so far down the list of expensive cities because it is spain's third largest city so considering it signs an affordable city to live in number nine on the list is santa cruz veterinary on the island. The canarian island of tenor eighth number. Ten is seville number. Eleven on the list is malika a number twelve. My list is less thomas on the canary islands. Right then so. I'm going to make a little comparison. Classic sound of the someone pumping on the whole and outside the bar because there is some kind of truck which is stopped in the middle of the street. Let's hope that doesn't continue. Let's look living cost of living comparison between london and madrid for example pseudo coating to my research you would need around two thousand eight hundred sixty three pounds all three thousand three hundred and forty three euros in madrid to maintain the same standard of life that you can have which i need that would happen. Descended into some chaos and some of the guys in the bar won't stop the heads out the door to to see what's going on out there say place at half past twelve in the afternoon drinking. A cup of coffee never announces already on the wine. I met there still a little bit early for me right. Let's see if i can get this out. So the cost of living comparison between london and madrid. One trying to say is that to maintain the same standard of life that you can have in london with four thousand seven hundred you would only need two thousand eight hundred sixty three pounds to have the same standard of life
PSG knock Barcelona out of Champions League
"Leboeuf and julia raw small. Joe's voice thin it finished then. Psg one celona one pse advancing five two on aggregate. This will i saw was fascinating possible and obviously all over. Ps gps she would then take the lead for an invite pay penalty. Extraordinarily brilliant goal from lionel messi would see one one dan belly had a million chances he couldn't convert and then on the stroke halftime really the defining moment in the game leeann are messy having that penalty save and he just felt then boss. Lana run out belief in the second half. We didn't quite see this team. Is that fed to sally. That penalty save changed everything. Of course he did even more. So when you watch it and then you watch it again and you see mode godly encroaching and clearly encroaching and so therefore if you have a system in place that could take a look at this and say you know what this is not allowed. This is against the laws of the game so therefore the penalty should be retaken and the truth of the matter. Is that when you see this happening. You have to question how come. Vr can take a look at this and say no. That's okay it's good play on. I don't quite understand it and to your point did change the dynamic of the game because as good as barcelona were in the first half the second half years they had possession years. They seem like they were about to create something but never really would that sort of confidence that they really thought that they were going to be able to come back in this match. I just don't think that after messy and it's not only the penalties after messy misses a penalty that means for this team going into halftime. Coleman cannot get this thing going for the second half off joel's how you love var because farrah's clear the thing that amazes me right. You've got to review penalties kayla novels off his line. No he's fine. Who was made razzi. Did he encroach yes. Seeing coach retake just forgot the second aides to be fair watching on television. I saw throw variety was encroaching. And i really thought they're gonna take this one again and when they were checking. I don't think that check in just for novice. I think there must be checking for everything. I agree with you. I don't understand. Why didn't they didn't to be taken. I don't understand why they give the pse pronouncing the first place anyway. I would not have given the long lay stamp on cardiac either through there were shambles the tonight in paris it was to the advantage of psg. So i'm not gonna complain. Though the lack of consistency again showing a niece is quite dramatic. Really english officials. Frank plain english while while blamed english. I can blame mr taylor and these systems. But i can blame the the world of referees. Were doing crazy things. And and and talking about consistency. It's an consistent all the way and we can talk and debate everyday about the decision. I mean that's that's insane. I can't even discuss about the penalty in the first penalty for procedure. The first leg. Dissenting up into celona. I wanna know where in which kind of football we are going into giving penalty for crazy stuff. I mean the penalty. Cardi cannot get the ball whatsoever. Okay longley never look at e cardi. So he's not willing to make any foul on e. cardi but we still decide to give a penalty because e cardi because longley stems only cardi. Not doing it on purpose again. So what kind of football is that is not the football. I loved the football where you know something can happen. But because he's not around the area of the dangerous area we don't really care because it's what it is especially if he's not mean if he's not a on purpose. Why do you wanna give a dose of penalties. That's crazy for me. I don't understand well the encroaching stuff. It's even worse because we also that we all named it but how they don't want to see it just a question we'd have to add them and it's not because the english because i'm sure will be french. It would be the same. It would be germany would be same. So it's it's awful. The food we are we are seeing right now. We're watching rhino. He's not the kind of alike on top of what we see from the players.
Messi Mulls Barcelona Exit
"We start with news that could rock the football world to its very core Spanish network got an essay reporting that Lionel Messi is ready to leave Barcelona. He is called off. Negotiations over his contract are more socio ends reporting that Messi is angry at the Barcelona office over leaked media reports, Moore said Lo and Frank leboeuf join US sid. Is this for real is Lionel Messi now really going to leave Barcelona and what is it the root of this? One This is something that needs to be kind of explained, contextualized and unpacked now. Is this for real in the sense? That is Leo Messi unhappy. Has He opposed to conversations? Over new contract and put stop to that for the time being and is absolutely furious with the way that boss on is being run. Yes, is thirty four next summer. Yes, is that true point at which he would be contemplating? WHY NEXT MOVE WOULD BE? Yes, but the context is really really important. Here is Leeann saying I will leave. This is little messy saying. I won't read this deal now. I want renew this deal with this board of directors. At least not for the moment. I want to be convinced that we're going to buy the right players that were going to build a squad in the right way. The club is going to be settled and by the way next summer are presidential elections I think what? Is doing more than anything else is obviously keeping his own personal options open in terms of what he decides how he feels about himself in the time by the else, he's actually saying to somebody tomato, the president with whom the relationship isn't good. How often have we asked the question? How good word Barcelona be without Messi? Can you imagine it? Do you think they'd still be able to compete with around Madrid? How Coronavirus is affecting MWC 2020
"GSA UPDATE ON CORONA virus. That is the subject line of an email that was sent out to registered attendees for Mobile World Congress in Barcelona which is happening in just a few weeks. Hello everybody and welcome to the pocket now. Weekly podcast hosted by yours truly judge of Gara. What's going on everybody all right? So we're GONNA get a little bit more abundant this particular episode because yes we have to talk about the corona virus which has literally affected so many portions of the world and various various different sectors including tech. Now I'm sure that most of you are aware of the different stories that have come out of Baku Rona virus in general but there were some very interesting stories stories that happened within the last week or so in regards to the different people who are going to be exhibiting at Mobile Congress. Obviously you're listening to the pocket. Weekly podcast so you are probably aware of what NWC is it is literally one of the most important shows throughout every single year where mobile technology is given the centerstage pretty much every company that has a hand in the creation of smartphones tablets wearables infrastructure five G. tend to go to Mobile World Congress and many of their big announcements happened in Barcelona. People like myself in high Rivera and many of the people that you know in the tech world go to the show every every single year and it is generally a very good time. Barcelona is a wonderful city With a lot of character and actually mobile world congress as far as the venue is concerned. The fear of our CELONA is one of the coolest venues when it comes to these shows that we go to every year but this year. It's going to be incredibly difference because with the News Corona virus spreading in China and in certain parts around the world. A lot of people have had to make the executive decisions to either attend or opt out of of 'em. WC without naming names. I know a few people who actually opted out of going. And it's going to be a bummer. Not Seeing them in Barcelona as it is basically a tradition for all all of us tech friends to get together at this show and I know a couple of other publications that have actually been giving their people some early notice that if they don't want to go to Barcelona they can actually say so. And of course this all started when the corona virus first sprouted in the WHO Bay province of China particularly the epicenter. Being a place is called Wuhan that is part of mainland China but because of the level of travel that we have in today's society and today's High-tech Society. Let's say there are people both traveling from so many places around the world that not only would people from that province moved to many other places via air travel and whatnot. They're also many visitors. Who might my end up going to? Who Bay province and they are also part of this huge quarantine or huge tracking of people who might be affected by this corona virus us? And as you're going to hear later from the email that I mentioned at the beginning of this episode Whether or not you have actually stepped foot near or in Wuhan Matters. But let's just talk for a little bit about the impact that the GM A has on the mobile industry. Mobile Congress is like I said one of the biggest shows of of the year it is one of what we call the Big Three Ceus. 'EM WC and EPA in Berlin. You're all aware of CAS which just happened about a month ago. And then Eva In Berlin happens usually every September near the end of the year when some final announcements are happening but at the beginning of the year basically in the first quarter. This is when you set the precedent precedent for the rest of the calendar year at 'EM WC by announcing some really big devices in Barcelona back in the day Samsung used to use. WC The as the jump off point for their galaxy S. line they used to go to 'em WC with the new devices but overtime Samsung decided to hold their own shows. Handy events Of course now we call those unpacked. And those are the shows that Samsung uses in order to announce the new devices but pretty much every other company attends Hans Nwc along with thousands upon thousands of other exhibitors to show off their latest updates to just highlight some of the big names. You have everyone from Xiaomi. A two Vivo and honor to Qualcomm Lenovo Motorola sick imagine how everybody felt when. LG One of the most recognizable names and mobile tag decided to pull out and of M W C completely. There's a certain hall in the fear of the venue for Mobile World Congress where all of the phone manufacturers tend to sort of clump together. And it's there that you can walk from qualcomm and just maybe take a two minute stroll over to Samsung and from Samsung you can take a quick stroll over to lg but now that huge huge portion of that hall LG tends to take. It's just going to be empty. It remains to be seen. What would happen with these particular companies booths and spaces basis now that they're not actually going to be there? But of course there are varying degrees to which companies are actually taking themselves out of the show Z.. T. E. announced that they wouldn't be at the show show but what that actually meant was they. Were not going to do a press conference but they would still have a booth and have representation on the show. Floor Ericson would then follow suit as the next company to to leave Mobile World Congress over concerns of the corona virus. Ericsson a name that you might remember from these Sony Ericsson days of those particular. Let's say dump phones as it was before the smartphone. smartphone era is still a major player in telecommunications and probably the biggest blow to GSI may so far when it comes to 'em WC. Andy's exhibitors was invidia video announcing that they would no longer be attending the show. This one's a big one because according to the verge in video was going to host ten sessions and actually have a place called the a innovation center now I have seen Invidia at a number of different shows and they always talk about the power of their cards and processors especially in terms of ai and and videos AI is starting to pop in so many different places even beyond computing and mobile They actually started talking about autonomous driving and getting into the five G. Game but the market detail here is that nvidia was also a major sponsor of the conference in general and they have partnered with the conference to have a bunch of different sessions every single year. But it's probably the biggest headline mainly because video was one of the major sponsors of 'em. WC Twenty twenty on top of everything that they were supposed to be hosting the fact that they okay and three other companies so far at the recording of this episode have pulled out of mobile world. Congress means that all of the topics they have been part of are no longer going to be in the discussion. There's going to be less. Ai There because of invidia less mobile devices because of LG Z.. T. Not having a major presence anymore and of course on the telecommunication side when it comes to Business Ericsson not being their means that they are out of the conversation during the show as well but that doesn't stop the fact that we you're still going to 'EM WC and WC is still going to happen after all there are still so many companies that will indeed be there and they will feel the conversations even if there's going to be a little bit less of a crowded space ticket for what you will but aside from Z.. T. E.. A lot of the major Chinese companies are still planning on attending and they are going to have have not only press conferences but major major updates to many of their products during the Barcelona show.
Why You Should Visit the Canary Islands
"Why should someone go to the Canary Islands. It's hard the summit up in one sentence but to absolutely Canary Islands are ornately unique landscape. Each island is probably different than the last there are white sand beaches black sand beaches. There are volcanoes stunning scenery views. Like the Grand Canyon on some of the islands there are pine forests. And you can get everything. It's for both adventure. Tourists that love to hike and explore for and people that want to sit back and enjoy Pinochle Outta so. There's a little bit of everything and you aren't going to see scenery like this anywhere else on the planet will you. You mentioned it was off the coast of Morocco. I guess we haven't said where it belongs. In terms of culturally. It is not Moroccan. It is not. It is actually part of Spain fine but it still has a lot of African roots and the historic people that live there before the Spanish inquisition were called Guavas. And so there's still a lot of historical artifacts in historical sites on the islands. That are really interesting for people interested in the more historical aspect of the islands as well. Well the the name comes from the Latin for the island of dogs can are not canary and because the guavas worship dogs and now is the part that I didn't know until I was doing the research for the show. Yeah it's really interesting in on one of the bigger islands tannery fe. There's actually some caves that you can visit where they're are actually still some remains of the ancient Guangzhou's that used to live on the island. Yeah it's really interesting to see some of that more historical outside of non European aspect excellent. Well what kind of itinerary do you recommend so first of all. There's a number of different silence as you see some major islands. Where would you recommend we fly into? It started it depends on how long trip you're going to take and I would recommend either going for seven days or fourteen days while you could do a shorter trip as well. I would recommend either flying into Grand Canaria or flying into tenor. Fa and if you fly into Grand Canaria which is the largest island and probably the one of the most popular especially for Europeans. There's a ton of stuff to do on that island Winston itself so you could also choose to do one island but let's start with a seven day itinerary because that's probably what most people would have have the time to do especially coming from the US so flying into Gran Canaria. You'd WANNA spend two or three days there and the great thing about all the islands islands is that for the most part you can take varies from one island to the next. And if you're doing a seven day itinerary you would WanNa pick either the eastern islands or the Western islands to save time from Gran Canaria which has beautiful beaches. It's got pine forests or some fantastic fantastic hiking on this island as well spend a few days there. Then you would want to depart in the evening to Sweat Ventura which You can take a a ferry to and that island has a lot of white sand beaches. That's the Sandy Beach Island because it is a little bit closer to the African taken coast. It gets that wind swept landscape. And there's some beautiful sea caves there. You can explore and some great beachside restaurants restaurants and from that island you can spend a day and then take the ferry over to lend throat and Lanzarote has tim and fire national park. which is about an area of about a thousand volcanoes and go will do a thousand? I did not though yes so its its. Nickname is the land of a thousand volcanoes. And it's an absolutely otherworldly landscape and I have never been to Hawaii but this this was another level of extraterrestrial landscape. And there's a lot of volcano that you can hike to and there's a lot of places where the lava or ancient lava has come up to next to the road and you can get out and walk around in it and it's really really interesting. There's also a place. Is there called Lahar area. which is this area where they have cultivated the ancient lava to grow wine? And you can do wine tastings there and even stay at a little winery as well. Well let's finish the area then we'll come back and do this obviously at much more detail. Yes so after lands are out. Then you'd WanNa fly to ten Kinda repay and spend your last two days there before departing back to the United States and you would connect through either Madrid Barcelona Celona or Lisbon most likely plying from the US. Okay so you started on Gran Canaria and what are we gonna do either so on Gran Canaria. There are a lot of things to do and GonNa depend on what you're interested in for if you're into the beaches than you're going to want to stay in the loss terrace area. which is the big beach town can get some exercise? They are walking along the beach enjoying doing lots of different restaurants and cafes. There's paddle boarding. You can do right out side if you stay on one of the beachfront hotels but one of the things that I loved. Today there was actually go up to Tom. Adama Nature Park and this area. It looks a lot like northern California. It's so so surprising. There's these endless pine forests. When I saw it I was like oh I had no idea that anything like that existed especially on an island that's close is to Africa so that was really interesting for me and up near that area? There's also some other great places that you can hike and walk at one is called the magic window and it looks out over. This giant monolith called the rock new blow and basically from this arch called the magic window. It's a natural sandstone arch. If you go at sunset you can see this. Trent monolith in the background is absolutely stunning. So I highly recommend going and doing that. And you can also hike to the monolith. It's a little bit farther away. They're not close together. But you could hide that whole area. But that's all remnants. The olds volcanoes. That created the island. So I definitely recommend that to and enjoying the beaches and other areas around the island as well so that would be what I recommend downgrade
Messi opens up on summer hopes of Barcelona landing Neymar
"Saw that beginning of you that everyone is talking about now. Massey opening up to Catholic newspapers sports saying this is home. I don't want to leave but I want to win. He was asked about name arcing. I would have loved to have name are back back. Neymar is one of the best players in the world and having me having him in our squad would increase our chances of achieving our objectives what I do. We know is name. Art was desperate to leave and come to Barcelona. I don't know if the club really try to bring him back to bass or not. I need to see there's a winning team because I want to keep winning things this club. Joe's I wanNA start with you. Then messy very rarely says anything about ball Celona so are we making a mountain out of a molehill here because he's actually opened up a little or is this nothing no the thing this is far from nothing. I think this big and if you read between the lines because macy ECON just say exactly why thinking but when he says I'm not sure if they retry he knows there's no way that low missy was no informed or captain form of everything that was happening between sign PG between Boston Neymar through the wholesome when he says I don't know if they're tried hard he means. I know that he didn't try hard enough otherwise he would be here with me. He will be at the club and for me. This is a huge tie call on Bartolomeo and people at the club and he's also a sign of like in the few weeks. We've talked a lot about my contri- the possibility that can I can walk out at the end of each season of for free that can be going any time from this club and the Union do while like a while wanted in which was bringing back name out to new is an issue for me and I think this interview for me is hugely important in a relationship between midnight and Balto automated between meeting and the directors at the club and it'd be very interesting to see what happens next few weeks few months

"Molly, thank you for joining in Spain podcast and Bienvenida talking about your blog. I discovered your blog, I think about a year or so ago, just tennis bit about how the blow came about what made you start how it sort of volved over the years because you've been blogging since two thousand eleven am I right in saying that it's one of the top fifty Spain travel blogs. And if one of numerous wards and other things as well. Yeah, there's a lot of questions that I that I begun the book in two thousand eleven and basically started because I've been organizing events for a long, long time. People who name e, whether it be three work or from since family will ways kind of asking me, only eunuch, good restaurants, where should we guy? And I became this kind of like yellow pages. Something I had these emails, which I would send out which really basic about Granada both Celona London accord, like different places that I knew really well, so I'd get his Email, and he'll be like my own as going to Malaga next week. Maybe the or these questions as started getting lazy mills read, so I could just send them out without a lot of work. And then I went to this cools to do with immenent, and we were told how to do a block, and it was basically, how to do a blog so that you can provide an event how it basically stole. Super basic was a blog with three pages. One page was London page was both lunar mama's Granada with one, fatal when each page that was it. Oh, okay. Did you enjoy taking photos, photography, and writing about spin? Is that what inspired you to keep it going into expand it? Well, I could just start. See that, for example, both page go visit than either ones. And then I'd go somewhere travels and thing, oh, this interesting, I'll pop on there. And then, of course, technology has advanced over the last ten years. That's how it begun. And then how evolved was basically just people emailing me get getting kind of community and be asking me for things. Molly, what can you recommend me? I'm going to Valencia. You haven't got anything on your blog Dino's some things. So it got of interaction, whether it be through comments, also show me all emails, say, then that would be kind of made vague may because I think actually making a difference. I'm helping people to plan their travel, and also I've. Been very careful not to accept partnerships all sponsorships for really long time. The first six years, I didn't have any page activity on my block. So he keeps it very honest and very transparent. And now it's the books become more professional. I do have pates partnerships and affiliates. But I'm very careful about what goes in because I wanted to be helpful to the reader. So inside the tips, things that you might not find in your usual, guidebooks another blogs, like that. Is there a bit of your personality sort of reflected through places that are very dear to your heart? Yeah. Asserts lambing. I'm not really a beach person, and somebody put on stunt, not, how can you live in Spain in each person not since sane? But I'm no things that may debate me for travel, basically food anything historic architecture. And then when I say, cooter, I mean things like traditions or local festivals something that makes a place kind of unique or different from other places. So one of my favorite post, I entered writing was, I think it's ten cooled ten caves in under Loussier. Maybe. I basically went around unbelieva the sting caves, and something that just a day, make the office thing by had away over time going to visit all these different caves around under Lucia and they're all different. That's not some that you're gonna find in a in a normal guidebook, the top ten caves of and Luthier. Using that as a segue, I guess, because one of my questions, again was going to be used been a longtime letting in Barcelona. You've travelled extensively around Spain. How does and Luthier compare fee you with the rest of Spain? It's a big question again because we'll food, kosher traditions. For example, I guess, for me, and maybe for a lot of people when I was younger, and I was a teenager. And I thought of Spain, it was always the kind of and Luthier image of Spain, the came to mind, not, not necessarily galley thea or a story as or the past country. It was this kind of white washed sunbaked Flamenco tap pass festivals is a little bit of a cliche, I guess, to how, how would you compare it? It's a little bit. Shame. But it's true. I think on blue SIA is textbook Spain. I think visitors when they traveled Spain, well, they looking for is under Lucy because that's what comes through in the books when they learn Spanish in films in writing such as Hemingway, or when vistas arrive in under Lucy, an see what it's like here. That's what they imagined when they got on the plane, and then other places around Spain. Then they have their own character, and then what they expect perhaps and one thing that I always say to people is that both Celona is very close to France and unto Lucy here, where I live, certainly in Granada is very close to Africa. And if you think about it that way, then you can understand how for the cooter can be away, versa, learners oversleep of Catharina impulsive. Catalina is. In front and under Lucius was the area, which was had under Muslim Lou rule for the longest time. And we still have things remnants of that, which is the Humber.

"Not saying, you're Ramsey's the solution. But you think that if that came in who event is are seriously pursuing this summer that he would also have a Saint some of the traits players Willie. Rebuild through the original question. Why did you need because it's another because he's left before leagues in situations where he had a good. He had a good Celona. Maybe it was the end of an era are Sloan. He went to a buyer inside as well. Now, he's gone to ensure city. So why not you vent this as if that's not a step down? But no, no, no not enough. Great. Great. I miss done if you've enders that you won't go to what club what club wouldn't if that we inclined you can make a decent argument as to why he should go and as much as maybe he's been a city, his usual three years, or whatever you want to see I just think his situation much is a city is different than it ever. Would be at Venice as much money city has spent a deposits thing. No, they're trying to Britain been not only the first team, but the infrastructure from the themes and the academies around pep Gordo's direction on his personality. I don't think you would do that just kinda give them the history of their club. So I don't see the Lou from. Goethe to leave what he has to go to Venter's. I don't think money's an issue. I'm sure city are prepared to match whatever you've prepared to offer him both both in salary and transfer budget. I understand the argument for me. It just doesn't make sense that if I'm going to leave right now, just remind plenty of Italian action full you over the next two hours. He's gone. I'm not saying we'll be on the for CO against. On Monday routine from bologna their away. Seem allow. Take to once again champions of Scotland Nazif they'd be Amandine today. "Celona Matteis delicious will go to David Muir as Hakim's Isik already have the superclubs of Europe, circling around them. They know as they've always known that there is no next year. This one has to count is there next year for Tottenham and Choo ensures you'd like to think so their success has been built on evergreen defines of gravity the era that keeps giving Murchio Partido keeps talking about the foundations being put in place the legacy of the new stadium. Gold future that will sustain them for decades to come. But there are no guarantees in this game. The Spurs team of sixty one sixty two probably didn't think it would take another fifty seven years for them to reach another European Cup semifinal either. So is this was that it it is the state of fear that they are perpetually living in your right? I mean, you're right to ask it now. My gut is to say that Cain is not going anywhere. Pocchettino is not going anywhere. Son is not going anywhere deli. These are key players for tongue and maybe out of I don't know might be gone. And now there's a lot of talk about Real Madrid and Tottenham already being in advanced stages of negotiating price. So. The only thing aside from that is the the stadium. Getting built was you know, it's not just about fitting more people in their Danya Levy for all of his stinginess when it comes to, you know, bargaining players and things like that. This was also supposed to be a statement about Tottenham place in the sport in Europe. So if you think we're looking at another summer of Tottenham just sitting there quietly while guys get bought up by other clubs around Europe. That's not happening. I really truly believe this isn't based on anything other than my own feeling on this. And what I've heard as the stadium has has become a reality. I think this is now when they feel it's it's time for us to kick on. Okay. So, but you're right. I don't question longer-term question. It's just interesting that it came up last night. You like I do believe in sport that there are windows winning windows, and like the Buffalo Bills had one passed it up. I'm trying to think of another team that have won as well in in US sports. But that's the directly jarring wound. Where they went to all those Super Bowls. Yeah, you're totally right to mention that last, but not least here on this one yonder tongue clash of heads with Alvarez in the first half. Both guys went down. And then you looked over the camera panned of tongue of on the ground and his face was covered in blood. It was an ugly sight. It was a pretty frightening sight nets were out there right away. He came off the field and looked like they had cleaned up. You're wondering is this just like a nose injury may be broke his nose is a head injury. We were told they went through the protocols of concussion. Yeah. And then he came back out onto said, okay? I'm good. The ref came over looked at him. They cleared him to go back out on the field. And then after about ten seconds. He shook his head. No, no, no, clearly couldn't do it. And then he kind of he walked over to the sideline. And he almost it almost looks like he collapsed st- he had to be carried off by two medics. It was a frightening scene. It was horrific Tottenham come under their medical staff and punch Tino. Oppose have come under a lot of criticism today for essentially allowing this to happen. I'm reading now from ESPN AFC earlier today asked whether he was comfortable with the decision to allow for talking to return to the pitch Pacino said, quote, I wasn't involved..

"It was it was a bit of a mass. They started so strongly you had rash. For trip in the crossbar scooped it up. They had a chance then we Makamba who missed kicks. They could have really wrestled at tie back. But they didn't. I'm once Barcelona got hold of things. United did not have a midfield that could cope. I actually young mix mistake. You should kick it out over the inlay just kick it out. Don't give it up there. It falls too messy who gets on it with. He had a point to prove not a point to prove. He was you know, the anger from getting getting his jaw crack. Or whatever in Old Trafford dot residual anger rare to Ted in the new camp skins Fred scores wonderful goal. And then again, it's turnover but more or less turnover in front of the United goal and the, hey, let's dribblers body. And that's it Andrew it's game over after that. There was some horrific not safe for work images of messy running at Phil Jones, where the bondage on it was honestly said it was sad reminded me of Gary k hill, they're messy running out of once where he just gave him twisted. Blood believes the term wasn't good. By the way, in fairness Deva had the way that move ended with surgery Bertos shot from point blank range. Under different circumstances. It would have been like one of the saves of the champion rice so far. Right. But because to already had the howler and because that goal whether went into not wound up not even really mattering. We find a new at that point at the matter and then continue comes on second half on just Ben's one into the top corner on Cope's Xeres, not at the Man United fans. But at the buyers friends who don't like him. So there we are. I don't know what I don't have really much else to say, I guess the only thing now is to say that the final four that we're left with it probably wouldn't be the four that you might have guessed before the Champions League began. I think Barcelona Liverpool you wouldn't say are necessarily shocking certainly are Celona Tottenham. And I ex I think you would have to say are fairly surprising because the fact that I have been great throughout just in the the knockout stage. He right. But you still you still thought about side will be populated by somebody else. That's fine. Right. But we're past that now because we're at the semi finals. And I I think what you're left with is a pretty compelling final four teams here. I if Barscelona won't fear Liverpool live. Well, they might fear. Aspects of Liverpool Liverpool fair aspects of Barcelona back game. But you just said that kind of nonchalantly Barcelona would be foolish to not fear Liverpool. I know I they absolutely do that from three's going to frighten them message going to frighten live force. It's really Tito for for quite again, wouldn't like to have to actually call that one. 'cause I actually think Liverpool can be bashed on equally. I think Barcelona can do job on Liverpool its soul finally poise and beware. I mean the trip. There's so many angles for the Tottenham my ex game that we get to explore next week. Yeah. There's there's more to get into that. It's funny because Tottenham are loaded with former IS Erickson for Tongan outta viral Davinson Sanchez. So I mean, it's I XE almost been a feeder club for Spurs over the last several seasons. Yeah. I have no idea how that was going to go son is suspended for the first leg, which is absolutely massive for Sherry Kane, will I'm sure not be available for it for either one of of these upcoming matches. So you're looking at Lucas more for an your rent a probably try power on the bench. I don't know. Maybe I mean, this is what they're dealing with right now with some of these injuries that they've been dealt even with that though. You know, they've battled through it. "Munches eleven to force it stay with you first on this from United perspective. If you're looking for reasons or causes for optimism. What what would they be? I think I think we've probably better off being slightly. I'm this two options. I think fundamentally one is to be very very aggressive and plan the front foot and try make it difficult for Barcelona to get through the pressure and in particular to look for the spice behind this fullbacks, the problem with that is if there is a team that's capable of riding out that pressure. It's balsa. And then the pitch opens up, which of course, brings you option which is to pop the bus the bus frustrate. Hope you can catch them on the break at some point. And of course, with particularly the of rash much, it my welfare that's the best way of going about it look for rationale behind the backs early long Longbow and park the bus. I must admit that's why anticipate United doing. But, but you know, I say that is someone who follows Bosso rather than someone who follows munches United alley. You follow both from the United perspective looking at these Bacelona team. What would what would be your cause for optimism for how can they Basel? Well, I think that they can look at the times. I've I struggle. Season. And how teams have made him Luke vulnerable and the teams that have made Barscelona. Luke vulnerable are those that are willing to say, you know, what we absorb a lot of pressure for Barcelona. But the moment we get possession of the bowl. We're going to get aggressive, and we're gonna get after Celona, and we're gonna test whether they can defend this in one wants to Asians over this. We're gonna test that are because the defender that he is we're gonna test that space. You're the leaves wide open because he likes to add himself into the tiger as often as he does. We're going to see if they can defend this entrance. If meant to say night, it's able to make this game about transition. That's when they have an opportunity if it's about possession and technical ability on the ball and quality of players on the ball, this old arson on all the time..

"I wasn't sure what all the the lessons of investing, and what an apartment could be. When I went out with Curtis. We saw ultimately I investment are Celona apartments. I enjoy and looking at the aesthetics PPO that they had told me that cash flow, and I was looking for. For cash flow, and when I chance to interact with Curtis and get to know his background has. Our sold. The business had a financial background account is one great humble individual. This is kind of individual high want on the best way. If they've got those skill sets property isn't going to be my main qualifier as much as do. I feel confident digital can carry the four manage manage it. Well. And courtesy has all that. There's no doubt about that. As you look into that situation. Curtis's determining factor. If you ask him what he was being lead was location. So when we come back, we'll talk about the location of Barcelona in the other projects you pitched the proximity. We'll take a break now. But the the proximity of the provocation how you see location being important in your choices. Besides the decision, which leads you want invest with. If you want to call and ask a question..

"Elsewhere pressure on Spurs as they play host to the crystal pies and the big relegation manage that. But it's boom against Chelsea wine expected to make his Premier League, Debbie. Also the to win today over car. If means that they're up to fifth in the table level and points now with Chelsea who of course, the inaction tomorrow away against with two of Manchester. United gets United who heavy favorites finishing the full ahead of awesome. Both of course have to catch Chelsea though. This was a bit of a kind of a typical awesome performance from what we've seen over the season on the union didn't do much in the first half just enough in the second half to get the win. Yeah. Very good. Strikers. He's managing to hold onto. The old mess ozo-. Sorry. Movie plays on because he played a number ten role, and he was captain. When he's not even on the bus, something it doesn't travel most of the times been on the bench. And then he's captain also this is a difficult. I think this game run the circumstances with with. Menial tala and the plastic play and. All goes around just difficult game. All right. So I'm not surprised asna one made the made heavy where that over. I don't think that's why for me unavo- said I don't think they'll get in the top four. There's a lot of speculation about becoming in in January. I am re the founder Dennis is almost done from Bal Celona SIS the play also need considering defenders is what name. Well, you just answer your own question. You look at then he sweaters and an intricate player that place in between the lines skillful runs around, and it's busy and attack. Have they seem to have a lot of those. They seem to have that sort of the profile of arsenal players that has been the case for years. Now, I don't know that you have a need for that sort of Blair now from sweaty perspective, I understand that because he's not playing as long as not getting any closer to Arizona. So therefore, he maybe think all right. Let me have an opportunity arsenal. But from our perspective, there is a need for you in other areas of the field, certainly the back line certainly out of the midfielder nodding, the attacking midfield the defensive out of the midfield. I don't see where then he's what is really adds value to arsenal. When you consider that perhaps there were other areas that you could have addressed that deal almost done..
