"Taylor Jones. The winner from 33 down. They beat the Indianapolis Colts. The rich eisen show. This might be one of the dumbest teams I've ever seen. The ending was probably the most insane ending. I think I've ever been a part of. Earlier on the show. NFL network analyst, Daniel Jeremiah, coming up. Your phone calls, latest news, and more, and now. It's rich I said. Our number two of the rich eisen show is on the air 8 four four two O four rich number to dial Daniel Jeremiah, my compadre from the NFL network and he also calls chargers games locally. We just spent a great hour in studio with us, and I started the show by hammering down on the weekend as a whole. I mean, look, I know coming on the air after an NFL weekend, the idea is let me choose this one game you're talking about or that two game parlay, if you will, but didn't go your way that you're talking about, you know? I know usually we come on the air. I try to put a couple of thoughts together for you. But to me, the story of the weekend was the weekend as a whole. I mean, that really was it. And that's the way I started the show if you missed it. We just posted something on our Twitter feed. Also, there's our YouTube page, and then there is, of course, the Roku channel re airing is over and over again and our video on demand, the rich eisen show has a video on demand service for you, which we're greatly appreciative of our friends at Roku to put it all together for us. I know we haven't discussed the poll question, Chris, but I'd like to figure this out. Most disappointing weekend, okay? Okay. Cowboys. Cowboys. You got to put them on there, TJ. Rich, we made the playoffs. We're in the playoffs. I know we did feel good about it. Oh my God. Gotta put the cowboys there, and let me just tell you why. Okay, let me just tell you why. That defense is no pass rush right now. They couldn't get the Davis mills or Jeff Driscoll or Trevor Lawrence. That's two weeks in a row. That's two weeks in a row. And here comes Jalen hurts. And if you want to, as a Dallas cowboy, get past Tom Brady, who you're probably going to have to face, say all you want about the struggles of Tom Brady, but you let him sit back there and he can pick you apart. And at some point, the Buccaneers have put it all together. Maybe that might be 2023. I don't know. What was your favorite next week? I don't get it. I mean, the bears played, did you watch any of the bears eagles game? All of the snaps of them, sir. Well, all of this is probably should have won that game. Well, Justin Fields presents a problem that dak Prescott doesn't. How does that sound? Well, CD lam presents a problem that Chase claypool doesn't. That's correct. That's fair. And your boy Pollard and Zeke present problems. Similar to similar to David, I won't say Montgomery. Who's going to guard AJ Brown? I'll tell you what. This is going to be a problem for Dallas. Of course, I think you can win the game. Obviously, I totally think you can win the game, and I think you can win a couple playoff games too. I firmly believe it, but you're going to have to start getting a pass rush going in a way that we just haven't seen two plus weeks. And don't forget, Matt Ryan was carving you up before the fourth quarter roof caved in on Indianapolis. I mean, the AFC south has presented a problem for the cowboys all of a sudden that gives me pause. And they also blew a 17 point game on the road. And if we're going to torch the Raiders for doing that, I'll torch America's team. Are we going to torch the chiefs the same way we torch the cowboys? You know what? The chiefs have not had a good couple of weeks either. But they've walked out with the wins to use your phrase. It's funny, like last week, you're like, we don't need details in the headline, and this week now you'd like details in the headline. That wasn't this. That wasn't important. We crapped all over the cowboys last week for winning the game against this one team and I'm not saying you, but the national media keeps the same and they had to go to overtime. And that is my own. The chiefs do not have a consistent enough running game and if they're going to have to depend on one, I think they gave the ball to Isaiah Pacheco a couple of times in a row and then he fumbled and then he disappeared and McKinnon can run it too, I guess. McKinnon's been he has been. I think he's going to win some fantasy weeks. But I want the keys. The cowboys, I'd like the cowboys on that list. The colts have to be on that list. You want to talk about a horrible weekend. Patriots are on that list. I'm actually relieved we lost, to be honest. Why? Because we stink. So what do we got to be the 7 seed and lose by 40 in the playoffs again? At least this way we can lose out. You'd rather not. And then have a better draft pick. I'd rather not make the playoffs than lose by 40. Let's put a pin in this for the moment, but I don't blame you for feeling disgruntled today. And the fourth one you have to put on there,

"Show is on the air Warren sapp was already on the program and it was a delightful chat with number 99. He was at the game last night watching his Buccaneers come back on the saints. Not, actually, he left early, and he was honest about it. We gave him grave for it, and thankfully he's not that angry at us. Anyway, it was a great conversation with him. CD lam and the cowboy is about to come up. Trent Dilfer now coaching at UAB and the delightful actress and a friend to be quite honest. Andrea savage will be here in studio hour number three. But we kick off our number two with a man whose team is currently top seated in the American football conference in his 6th year as head coach of the Buffalo Bills joining us on the Mercedes Benz vans phone line. Good to chat with Sean McDermott how you coach. I'm great, rich. How are you guys? I am great. Let's just start off by hitting the way back machine. What was it like being? Let me get your title correct. Assistant to the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2001. Sean McDermott, back then. Yeah, that was an experience I did a lot of things that probably most people wouldn't have wanted to do. I think my college teammates would kind of give me a hard time saying that I was responsible for all the toilets working properly the old best stadium there in Philadelphia. Oh my gosh. That is I want to talk about dirty work. That would be dirty work. But how did you get, how did you get on the radar screen of Andy Reid and the eagles back in that day when you're starting out? Yeah. I started in on the marketing side. Eagles and then worked my soft forward to the operations side and then again around coach Reed and he brought me into the coaching side within there. And then you obviously worked your way up. What about that experience that entire experience do you bring into your experience in Buffalo maybe every day or just maybe something that you don't even realize, but you do? Coach. You know, it's unique about it, rich was, even though there were some jobs that very, very small jobs, there was some jobs where I had a front row seat with co treat alongside coach for you to do some things that a lot of people don't get a chance to do, whether it was learn about the salary cap and the collective bargaining agreement, run training camp, so the whole operation of the business, I got to see from the ground up and it gives me a lot of appreciation for those currently in our building here in Buffalo that occupy those seats. And what a seat you occupy right now, coach McDermott, top seat in the AFC. And then coaching a team quarterbacked by Josh Allen, who from all angles appears to be the dream come true that he is when he's playing. So my question for you is when you see what he looks like now and has become now, how did this get nurtured? What was your plan for him that you now see the seeds that got planted then blossoming now saying, okay, we did that properly. Yeah, I mean, when you draft a quarterback early in the draft, you obviously you're grafting a quarterback to eventually become the face of the franchise that's not day one. Somewhere down the road and we were with Josh and I had a front row seat as I mentioned earlier with coach Reed and Philadelphia and watching us draft down the McNabb and then again in Carolina with coach Rivera watching us rest and develop camp Newton and so I learned a lot from those situations and we've handled it similarly here with Josh in terms of his development on the steel and off the field. It's a total plan, not just what takes place on the field, but what it takes place off if it was just as important. Well, what would you give me for example something he's doing now that part of your plan back then has allowed him to blossom? Something specific on that? When you're talking about, I mean, just the way you handle things specifically off the field with the media, for example, and making sure that he's growing the right way with media and we keep the main thing the main thing as he develops and learns the league and so because if you don't do your job, the same of the job will go by fast and then if you grew yourself the right way and go about it the right way and how your business the right way that same will come after your having great success on the field, which is what Josh has done. I've got Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills here on the rich eisen show. Let's jump a little bit more into the here and now. What was the meeting with Odell Beckham junior like over the weekend, coach? You know, I found it enjoyable. There was a good solid meeting that was my first time to meet Odell in person, certainly coached against them for a number of years. It was great to meet him. We had a good interaction. I think he enjoyed his time around our building around a few of our players here as well. And we just have a lot of respect for what he's been able to accomplish to this point in his career. Who are some of the players that were available? Or you made available or he wanted to speak to anything like that. How did you choose who he got to connect with? Yeah, it was more just kind of organically. He interacted with a few of our captains a couple of our veteran players as you'd expect. And then being around the building and just rubbing elbows with just guys that were in the building as well, which was good to see and I thought I thought it went well and like I said, obviously he'll have a decision to make at some point here, but I think we have a good team and more than more importantly of a good group of players in the locker room with good character. Well, I mean, Jerry Jones was on his radio show today. You're on mine, which I'm greatly appreciative of, but he said that he is hesitant to sign somebody who's coming off of knee surgery and did not work out. Did you get him to work out? Did you see him run on the field? Coach? Yeah, no, we didn't do that. We didn't feel like it was necessary. We feel like we've got a pretty good feel for where he is in terms of his rehab as rehab process. So but now we did not do that. So then there is no hesitancy from you to bring him on board. Based on not seeing him cut move, I test. I mean, there's always there's always a little bit of a projection, right? But that's where you put your faith and trust in the doctors and then individually in the player that everything is all the eyes are dotted on the keys are crossed and he's come back from injury injury significant injury before. So once we get that far, I'll put my faith in trust in the medical team. And more than just a commitment for this year from you in Buffalo coach? Yeah, I don't want to get into all that. I mean, we're just going to take it one step at a time. Okay, then let's talk about this year then. I mean, how significant of a contribution do you think he can make? And I understand when you're talking about this, you are very happy with the team you currently have as well you should. But how much of a contribution do you think would you expect him to make if he does say let's go to buffalo and you say come on and yeah, I think again that's a conversation for another time.

"Play, catch it, two feet down, Cooper rush made the perfect throw, cowboys now suddenly up after saquon did what he did. I'm like, okay. Okay. Next time up, cowboys gets the giants three and out. Great, kick off a punt return pardon me. Sex him up for a field goal, Brett Maher. So let's see upright. He was three or four. You're kicking it? The phone it and man are they playing defense? The number of times that Micah Parsons has already stood above another offensive lineman that he's trying to go against in that person Twitch is I've lost track. I mean, he is frightening. How many guys does he get to twitch just by standing there now? He's reached that sort of status in the NFL. He stands there, somebody's twitching because they got to get off. They got to get back. They got to get that depth fast because here comes Micah Parsons and tank Lawrence. On the other side, that's what the calories are and Trayvon Diggs. You can keep throwing at him, he'll try and he'll try and bag you and then he shut things down and the night. That was a great picture. Incredible pick. Like just when it thought, hey, did that hit the turf? No, no, no. There was his hand that was on the turf and bounced right into his arms, great play. Credit, where it is due, and it is due on Dallas Cowboys. Now, still some stuff to work. There are still some stuff to work on. I feel for Sterling shepherd. I think this is the end of his season. It looked awful when he gets carted off. Kenny gallaudet, you can not complain about the number of slap snaps that you're getting in one week. And then drop a football the way that you did in a crucial part of this game. Daniel Jones still feels like he deserves better. He makes some nice throws. They're just sometimes he just doesn't push the ball down the field. He's a little too timid. And we'll see how Brian da ball deals with the first loss, but the cowboys were for a hot minute when saquon Barkley hopped in the end zone as he did. Through that giant through that Dallas defense I don't know, by the way, how many 36 yard scores on the ground, the cowboys are going to give up this year. You might have seen just a unicorn right there. I think this defense is anything but terrific. But for a hot minute, cowboys were staring at a two game deficit in division on two teams. Two teams. And they came up with that response, very impressive. Cooper rush now is the first quarterback to be undrafted into the National Football League to win his first three career starts, his spot start last year against the Vikings, his first career start, and then these two starts this year. Last quarterback, undrafted to win his first three career starts. American underdog himself Kurt Warner. Get the sequel going. Cooper rush. Sequel's coming. And so is exactly the question. Look it up. That has caused a lot of heads to get lost and of course it's Jerry Jones saying last week, Cooper rush, please create a quarterback controversy for me. And now just two dubs in, including a nationally televised big time win on the road in division. That led Mike McCarthy to this walk off moment. To his victorious press conference last night. Do we have a quarterback controversy? Hey, everybody, safe travels home. I think we get back lower earlier than you do. Sorry about that. WHS, tip your server, try the mulled wine. Quarterback controversy. Fair question. There's no quarterback controversy. Jerry Jones is basically saying, hey, everybody. We've seen this before. Romo went down, dak played well. And yes, Romo wound up in the booth next to Jim Nance because of how well dak played. I would say. But that is not at the end of his career, Romo was not making all that cash that dak is currently mating, making and DACA's deck. That's getting the gig back. But what Cooper rushes doing is making sure dak gets the gig back. In a season that's still quite alive. A, two in one, on top of the two in one giants staring up at the three and O eagles is a much better spot than being one and two right next to the Washington commanders who are coming into your house next week. Looking up at two, three and O teams, including one that's got a tie break, and it's back pocket on you. That's the difference between a win and a loss and what Cooper rush and the rest of that team and CD lamb and Tony Pollard and that defense did from the third quarter on last night. That is the difference. Huge difference right there. But what if Cooper rush goes three in her? I beat the commanders next year. I think they should because if Carson Wentz is going to hold onto the football like he did against Philadelphia. Here comes Michael Parsons in tank Lawrence there. I was not pleased. Let's just put it this way before I let you continue on with what you're about to say. Thank you. I was not pleased when I thanks to CD lam's touchdown last night. I won my first fantasy week in the poker league that I desperately want to win in. At causing me for the first time all year to say, who am I playing next week and I saw I'm playing a guy who's featuring the Dallas defense next week wasn't happy to see that you now have the floor. So they beat the commanders, right? And Cooper rush is three, you know, and he looks really good. And then Jack comes back against the rams, Mike, that's good for our ticket resale. And then the offense looks terrible and they get blasted, then what? Then they go to Philadelphia and we'll see what happens, by the way, on the Sunday Night football. And then if the offense looks bad and the eagles take care of them, then what? How about this? If Cooper rush and the cowboys beat the Washington commanders next week, I don't think you see dak against the rams. I think he buys more time for Dax thumb to heal properly. And then what if they beat the rams? That's how you'd be the rant. Then we'll see if dak wants to come back.

"They look great. The paths that throw in the paths in the parley I guess was the bad one. But I was thinking about mistakes because one of the themes as we head into week two is teams that made mistakes and how much they regret them. So I have a couple examples for you. And we could talk about them one by one. First one, Justin Jefferson, who looked like the best player in the league, non quarterback last week, and you think he went 22nd in that 2020 draft, rugs went 12 to Vegas, Judy, 15th to Denver, lamb 17th to Dallas, all defensible at the time. The one that was indefensible at the time was Jalen rieger 21st to Philly. They've already traded in a he goes 22nd. Jordan loved 26th in the packers. When you think back to that draft, I don't remember anybody saying this guy has a chance to be the best skill position player in the league. What did we all miss? You know what's funny? I go back to my notes from the combine and that was that year and it was all those players and CD lam put on a show 'cause he had a catch along the sideline where the tippy toe and a one hander and it said everyone ablaze. This is the dude and even he went after rugs and after Judy, but the Jefferson note was this. He had the greatest college season you could ever imagine with burrow throwing him passes. He had all these stats, but it was almost like a one year wonder deal and they're like, yeah, but he's gonna run a four 6 four 7 40 comes out there runs a four three 40 and it kind of left a lot of scouts confused 'cause he was faster at the combine than maybe he revealed on film. When raker was taken, if you remember the Vikings brass at the time, Rick spielman and Mike Zimmer, the video afterwards, they were doing like fist pumps. Like, oh my gosh. But around the league, it wasn't this amazing shock. It wasn't like, oh my God, they took reagor over Justin Jefferson. If anything, it was, all right. Rigors, the guy who's going to take the top off, he's your deep threat. He was going to go first round also and Jeff Justin Jefferson went right after him. When I watched the NFL films mic'd up coverage this week of Matt Lafleur in front of Aaron Rodgers coming up to Justin Jefferson and being like, dude, you were unstoppable. When Aaron Rodgers takes Justin Jefferson and brings him in as like, you were the best player in the field today. It is unanimous. This guy is that dude, and I don't think anybody at that time saw him as that type of talent. That said, you look at it now in hindsight's 2020 and you could say, come on, Howie roseman. How do you take Jalen Reagan over the guy who was so good at LSU? I think it's a defensible mistake. But it's a mistake. I go back to

"Nodding and you're getting blown out. You have to be the villain. You have to approach it as let's go spoil this team's day that's trying to chase something. They're fighting for something, but if we could go out there and we could get a win and spoil their day, you guys actually really yes think that way because I know his fans we talk about, oh hey, a chance to play spoiler, but so yeah, you're season may be going nowhere, but you look at that matchup is like, hey, let's go ruin it for these guys. Yeah, let's go run a forum. Let's think that it's a pushover. It would now you start approaching every game like that's your playoff. Because hey, Mike, I was a part of some charger teams that finished four and 12, and I can tell you this at the end of the season. It was like, hey, how do we just go for four and zero? Because this would be like our wild card week. Then we'll go to the divisional. Then we'll go to championship, and we know that we're going home in a couple of weeks, but it just makes it fun to be able to spoil another team's day and know that they really needed that. And they weren't able to get it done against you. As I'm being reminded on the Iran dot com text line. And I should have recognized this. You didn't, you know, you know you stole little dishes line. Okay, I did. True credit goes to Michael Scott from dunder mifflin in the office. I'm not superstitious. But I am our little stitch. I have never seen that. All right. It's episode of The Office. Okay. I have never seen it. Can I tell you? You should see it. Early? Yeah. Again, it was one of those things. It was during the shutdown and pandemic paper. Everybody was talking about shows to binge watch. And I had more than one person say, you gotta watch the off. You haven't seen the office, oh my God, haven't you loved the office that you're kind of humor. Hooked right away. Hooked right away. All right, all right, check it out. All right, check it out. When you got a little time, that'll do it for the morning brew, bring that to you each and every morning at 6 30 Orlando in four stink. Up next, who will be the Broncos most important players who need to make big jumps this year, not named Russ. That's next. You were listening to schlereth and Evans on ten sports station, one O four three the ban. Mark off today. He'll be back tomorrow. Be joining us from I think Detroit tomorrow because he's going to be calling lions eagles this weekend for fox as he jumps on that grind. And I got Orlando Franklin sitting in as one texture, Jared and Colorado Springs shares. Went to work listening to Orlando last night, driving home listening to Orlando, third shift life. Thank you, big O. Yeah, and well, thank you, Jared for tuning in. Appreciate you, buddy. So you work last night. You worked this morning. You work tonight, then tomorrow, you're gonna be part of the fan war room. Season preview special. Then I got some TV stuff right after that. So that's gonna be going on noon to two. You'll get stok and Zach, of course, hosting from brothers barbecue at I 25 and arapaho and the guests will be Orlando, Chad Brown, and no Sean Moreno. So here we go. And I'm sure this conversation, this topic will come up. Who are the Broncos that need to make them biggest jumps in your mind not named Russell Wilson? Jerry, Judy. Yeah, that seems to be the popular pick. Why? Hi, Judy. Jerry Judy has to make a job. Because he came out in a wider receiver class that was supposed to be the best thing ever known, right? And we've seen the success of other guys that were in the class that were drafted after him. You know, Jerry Judy is the second wide receiver taken off the board that year because the Raiders were doing greater things and wanted to go with the fast, flashy 40, right? But you look at some of these other guys that Justin Jefferson, what he's done, what he's meant to this league, right? And he just continues to go and you look at what CD lam has done. He had drafted right after Jerry Judy, where it's kind of just like, okay, one and what are you gonna do? Because for me, Mike, I only remember two things that Jared Judy has ever done in his career when I think about Jerry duty as the player, I remember the last game of the season as rookie year playing against the Raiders where he goes for I think it was 94 or 96 maybe. Whatever was the longest play for the Broncos all year lock thrown from the end zone do lock throwing from the endzone and Jerry Judy taking it to the house. And then I think about that Thursday night where he's able to go up and get that ball and get the touchdown against the jets. Brett ripping game. That's it. There's nothing from last year and I sit here and I think the other bad things now that I think about is that man, every time I see some of these other wide receivers have the success, like Justin Jefferson is going to be, I think he's a top 5 wide receiver in this league right now. And has proven that in two years like CD and I think is a top ten wide receiver and it's proven that. Jerry Judy, it's kind of just like, yeah. Okay, but here's where I kind of defend Judy. Do you think hammered by a lot of people? I'll give you a shot to take your shots at him, but I give him an incomplete to this point because okay, Justin Jefferson plays with Kirk Cousins. Say what you will about Kirk Cousins. I put him in the top half of quarterbacks in the NFL. CD lamb wood. CD lamb plays with dak Prescott. Jerry Judy, to me, gets an incomplete right now, just because of the quarterback play in the offensive coordinators. That he's had. And I'm willing to agree with you as well. But you asked who needs to take the biggest jump, right? So what do you think I am back? I am willing to say that Jerry Judy, it's okay because of who you've been playing with. I think that the quarterback is somewhat held them back because just not really protecting them with the type of ball. I think the coaching staff is helping back his rookie year when he was missing Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays and now all of a sudden you're just doing a walk through on Saturday. You have to build that confidence. You have to create that rapport with the quarterback during the week. So the quarterback knows, hey, on Sundays, I could trust them in this situation to go to them what the football and he's going to go win on this route for me. So I think the coaches have held them back. I think his attitude has held him back. The fact that, you know, being told that he's the best thing in the world in high school, you know, Nick Saban coming in, mom's living room, walking in with the national championship ring saying, hey, you're going to come here. You're going to go only for three years. We're going to win a couple of national championships. And you're going to go in the first round and all of that stuff basically happening. And now you get to the NFL and you're being told by everybody, you're the best. And you see these guys have the Succession. It's easy to point the finger at the quarterback. Look who I've had. I've had drew lock. I've had teddy Bridgewater. These guys have had better quarterbacks like you just pointed out. Mike, so I'm willing to go there with you, but that's why when you bring in that new head coach, right? Where first you bring in a new general manager, you're not this general manager's guy. This January manager is showing you that he will make you play it out like Bradley Chubb is getting ready to play it out in the 5th year option. Then you bring in a new head coach. You're not this head coach's guy, but if you are in the system, you could be a thousand yard catcher year in year out. And then you go get Russell Wilson. Now, and Russell is the big factor, a guy that's done it at a high level that has seen everything the defense is going to store at them, but should now come in and demand accountability from a guy like Jerry Judy and show them how to work. Okay, so Judy, let's say he's the guy on offense that you look at as the most other people. Okay. I wasn't going to stop there. You're right. Now, to me, I look at Bradley Chubb and Chubb is a guy he's a complicated guy for Broncos fans because on one hand, I know he's probably never going to live up to be in the 5th pick overall in the draft. You know, you drive somebody with the 5th pick overall with the understanding of the time we didn't even think he's going to be available. And if you don't take him at number 5, he's probably gone at 6 or 7, right? Okay, so he's never going to live up to that generational type all decade player. Really? Yeah. Well, let's just well let's go with it right there. You still think he can live up to it? I think he can be a good player. And what's wrong with you need a lot of good players, but you think he can still be generational? So for me, I know the last four years would grab each other. It's written in pen. But this year, it's completely different from anything that you have ever seen. First of all, Bradley Chubb for the last three years, he had a coach, a defensive coach that it was like, hey, statistically, I want my defense to look great on paper. So in certain situations with our offense puts us in, it's all about just not letting them not letting them get in the end zone. So I'm not gonna be aggressive. I'm backing off. I'm dropping everybody in coverage where I was saying, hey, you guys up there, you guys just go win. Bradley Chubb, you gotta play 85% of the steps or more. You're gonna live on the field. We're Bradley telling my opinion should be right around 70%. He should get opportunities to get out the game and catch a good breather and we're now he's fresh. And now he's able to expose people, but most importantly, at the end of games now, if you ever do have a lead and I know it's been very short the last couple of years where now you could really get after the quarterback. Where I look at this year, rally Trump finally has an offense that should be able to create a lead. So now when you're here in Bronco country, you have the altitude. You have Bronco country, you have the fans, right? You have how loud it's going to be at empowered field. I look at the addition of DJ Jones. Last year, Mike, at the end of the season, when I was with the forty-niners as an intern at offensive coaches, we locked ourselves in a room and we watched every snap that our defense had and the offensive line coaches, we had to kind of grayed out the defensive line. The running back coaches had to do that for the linebackers. And when we grade out the defensive line, DJ Jones was the second highest greater defensive line next to Nick Bosa. So he not only brings you the ability to stop the run, but he brings you the ability to rush the passer. You couple that with Bradley Chubb. It spells a breakout year. So don't be surprised when Bradley Chubb, you're sitting here and there's a couple games and Bradley Chubb has been in the double digits and looking at 14, 15 socks when you're saying, wow, how do we keep him here now, right? All right. You got me excited about that. I love that. And DJ Jones as well. Great stuff Orlando Franklin in for stink coming up for down territory. What is Bradley Chubb think the best version of him looks like? You'll hear it next. Hey, it's Mike Evans. Silt to heart motors understand sometimes bad things happen to good people. "Is that an oxymoron or what? Happy Monday to you all? Brian got this morning and yes, we bring in Mr Scott said, way how you doing? I'm doing great. Good morning. It's not an oxymoron on a Cowboys Monday when the Cowboys win their first game of the year, You know what we were touched, Steve Lambert said. We're going to talk about is Steve going to rejoin us, and the Cowboys puts everybody in a good mood. But I do have a couple of questions about the game. It's not about the wind. But I'll just go right to the first one is that they're scoring drives. It was. I think, Pollard and CD Lamb and I've said this before I said it last year. I think City Labs best player in the NFL. Manually partnered and the best the best player in the NFL better than Tom Brady. Pageant homes. Think I'm just I'm a CD, lamb fan your homework, but go ahead, debatable, hiding available and did a good job. I'm okay with CD, Lam and Pollard. They get us all the way down through the three yard line. Or so and then they give it to Zeke for the touchdown. Everybody script guy. She's eager. He's looking great. I'm gonna tell you, I'd rather have part of my team and Zeke. Well, I mean, he's showing out to be a lot more versatile. He makes people miss a lot more than Zeke does. Nowadays, you know why he's quicker. Yeah, He's quicker than elevate. It is less up. He's not so much power runner, but He just has that births when he needs it here, and he has less tread on that tire. I guess more tread on the tires less mileage so he hadn't taken as many hits. So the people who say you gotta benches you can put polar in as a starter. I don't know if that works for the world to say, Go that far, because Zika is good. People are saying that, though, because this two games now with Kellen Moore, calling some pretty Dang good games as an offensive coordinator getting Tony Pollard the ball a lot. And the Cowboys are moving the ball. I want to ask this, though, because a lot of people after their first loss to Tampa Bay and Tom Brady, they said it felt like a moral win because they were close to the Super Bowl champs. Yesterday. Kind of felt like the opposite to me like the Cowboys one, but I felt like I needed to wash my hands afterward. I was like, I don't know I didn't feel very good about look at it like this. They went in pretty short handed. With all the guys are out with, uh, we had the injury to the Marcus Lawrence. You had Randy Gregory with Covid. We had a couple. Uh, a couple of other players. Michael gallops out. So despite all the players they were missing, they were able to go in there and it almost. I gotta tell you, it felt like a home game. Yeah, yeah. So many cowboy fans out in southern California. Now there cowboy fans wherever they travel around the country, but There were a lot of them there yesterday. Did you hear the excuse? How from Mike McCarthy for the clock management at the end? This is this is a conversation because you know when they were taking their time going down the field, which they didn't want to give three charges the ball back like they did the week before. Tom Brady. Right, so they're running the ball. They're being kind of patient. But they almost got to patient and Tony Romo was calling him out on the broadcast. Like hey, pick up the pace. And then they don't call time out. There's 20. Seconds on the clock. Tick, tick, tick, tick tick. Inconsistent kicker. And they don't get another playing, Mike McCarthy said. The clock went out on the scoreboard that he was watching. And he said the one Kellen Moore was watching a camera man got in the way so they didn't know how much time was left on the clock. Here is the Wow they head coach. He's not addressing the clock situation he did in his post came but here was just to start on the way to come in here and win. This game was important on a number of fronts for us. We needed it more. We needed the confidence that goes with this wind. So Winning in this league so hard So I'm just I'm just proud of the guys because they're doing everything the right way. So I mean, we still have a lot of work to do. This football games always usually come down to the last couple series. And this this definitely this one here came right down the last place. So this is definitely you know, one that we could build off of Had he had to be over in the satellite going. Come on, Greg. Come on, right. He bailed him out. Yeah. Kicker bailed out the head coach for and honestly bailed out, Dad Because Dad should have known better in that moment to well, I see and I was sitting there watching it thinking. Okay, they they want to get down to a final play. And maybe not fumble or through an interception. Get down to that one last you could. You could have did a middle of pass in the middle of the field for another five yards 10 yards and made it not a 56 yarder. You wanted to get a little bit closer. It wouldn't 56 is like 43 57 56 yards to win. Although he had enough on that kick, he could have kicked it. Uh, 60. Yeah, it was. It was just a strange way to end the game. And I think Mike McCarthy got bailed out. Listen to us Cowboys one, and we're beating them up the Cowboys losing. We beat him up. So hey, when you know I thought it was. I thought it was actually, uh See that I didn't look at the clock. That way. I thought, okay, he's going to wipe the death towards going to be one last play. And I thought it was gonna go back and find it. But I think David more in the postgame asthma. McCarthy. It's the first time they've won a game since 2017 where they didn't score more than 30 points, All right. That's crazy. That's really Hey, coming up Next. I grew up around cars Will Air force base in the Navy based joint Reserve base, whichever you want to call him now. And I cannot recall. However, I'm sure has a plane crash..

"Rogers So I just gave you four. Four out of my five Top five And no water. Brady Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers and Arun Donald. So when I have one spot left And I think the guy that I'm going to mention right now he's not on my list. I think it would surprise a lot of people. Because I think the next quarterback that you go to I'm just thinking about when we talk about this guy. So much is Russell Wilson. But I didn't put Russell Wilson when I sat down and just made this list early this morning. Didn't put Russell Wilson. Not that I don't like to watch him play. I think the world of Russell Wilson. He was my pick last year to be the M V P Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl M V. P. I didn't get that one right? It was on all three. Now Week four last year, I was looking pretty pretty pretty pretty good on that one. Football, though, is 16 games over 17 weeks now, 17 games over 18 weeks. Didn't put Russell Wilson in there. Now, Russell Wilson. Is such a fun player tow watch. He doesn't really have much of a personality. His personality is a little bit bizarre. That Mr Unlimited stuff That was creepy to me. That was really weird to may. Don't get me wrong if we're doing a draft for the next five years in the NFL. Russell Wilson is going off the board really early because he's that great of a player. Russell Wilson. I just didn't put him in my top five and I'm not saying He is not a better quarterback than this guy, because I'd rather have Russell Wilson over the guy that ended up going with But my final guy top five face the league right now is the Mark Jackson I'm not telling you. Lamar Jackson is a top five quarterback currently Or a top five player in the league, but he is a top five face and lied to May. Because he does things on a football field. That no one else could do when he takes off and run. Now. Does he have to improve throwing the football? Yes. Is he a bad throw the football? No. The guy three years in the league. Playoffs playoffs playoffs. Finally got a playoff win this year. And that n V p season. Thought it resonated with so many people and go look at the Jersey sales. Oh, look, a jersey sales from last year and I'll pull it up here right now. When you go to the top 10 best selling NFL jersey's not that that is the end all Beale Last year. If we did the top five At the end of week. 17 and this is from Michael Rubens fanatics. This year. We put it out your top 10, NFL jersey the end of week, 17. My home's one. Baker Mayfield to have a baker. That also helps when quarterback of the Cleveland Browns and you make the post season for the first time since 2000 and two and you get your first playoff. We're not at the time you have the playoff win, but you're going to write to get that first playoff win since 1995. Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, Aaron Rodgers, 123 Top 10, NFL jersey that the end of week 17 per fanatics for Brady Five. Josh Allen. Six Lamar Jackson In a year with Lamar Jackson wasn't bad, but he wasn't as good as his M v. P season. Nick Chubb, seven. Russell Wilson, eight. Album Come our nine and then what we all knew was his final year. Jew breeze in at number 10. Now. Other notable this is from Mass live the fanatics website. Other notable appearance is in the top selling list over the 17 weeks season. So guys have just placed in the top 10 at one point to a tongue of my lower George Kittle CD Lam Kam Just shake ups and Joe Burrow. Just look at a guy like Lamar Jackson. He's a video game. When you're a video game, and when you do things that you think could only happen in a video game, and you put that on the gridiron and on the football field. I think you got to be a top five face of league, So my top five faces of the NFL. Now you could have gone all five quarterbacks and I would not have blamed you. In my standards, though I wanted to do one non quarterback. I couldn't justify keeping Brady Mahomes Roger's off the list just couldn't do so. So my one non quarterback was Aaron Donald and then it number five. I did go with Lamar Jackson. So trace. Let me ask you this. I think you would agree as I try to guess your list here. Well, how many Did you not have When you look at my list. When you look at my list. How many? How many spots did you disagree with 22? Okay, That's actually I was gonna guess So. Brady Mahomes. Roger's Not debatable. They have to be on your list. Not debatable. We are in lockstep. Okay. Did you go all five quarterbacks? I did. I'm assuming you went with Russell Wilson. I did. So you did not go with the Mark Jackson? No, I have see your NFC quarterback, NFC NFC quarterback. Oh, Played for the Cowboys. Dak Prescott that he does. Yes, sir. That's not a bad one. Because that is not a top five quarterback in the league. He is the top 10 quarterback in the league. We didn't see that Ford Bliss come out the other day. Athletes that make the most money and Jack was in the top 10. And when you're The face of the Dallas Cowboys quote Unquote America's team, even though they haven't won a Super Bowl since 1995 and in the last 20 something years they've been associating or 25 years. They've been more so unassociated with just Jerry Jones and the drama and the in confidence and the ineptitude of that organization. I don't have a problem but in Dak Prescott On that list. I'm not telling you the top five quarterback. I do think he's a top 10 quarterback, but you don't need to be top five that your position to be one of the top five faces in the NFL because a lot of it is marketing too. So you're less was Brady Mahomes Rogers? You went with Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott. If you didn't go If you had take one non quarterback you go, Aaron, Donald, or do you go with the someone else Was there another position that you kind of look at? You know who could also be in the running to Let me let me float this one out there, And usually you will not have two guys from the same team be the face of the NFL, but for like a little bit. You couldn't make a case years ago. Brady and drunk He's drunk was so popular, so make that case of Mahomes. Travis Kelsey. Travis. Kelsey is such a marketable player and is an enormous star. I don't know if he's the best tight end in football. He stopped too. It seems like well, Vassili Kittle in him throughout the years and kill got hurt. Last year, Kelsey ended up getting back to a Super Bowl. So last year was a better year for Kelsey over Kittle. Who is who's your non.

"More driven. So damn good morning. I'm sure you've seen this Kyle pits as all these draft picks are now making the rounds through the media doing all the different appearances and he said something that was kind of interesting. Is that he expects the first four picks to be quarterbacks and a lot of us wonder. Maybe it could be put to you. Do you think he'd actually go that far where he's not taken in the top four? After the top three? What do you expect to happen it for? Unless Kyle Pitts is changing positions. I don't think the top four picks are going to be quarterbacks because I think he's going to be the fourth one, but I will say this once the quarterbacks go 123, Trevor Lawrence, Zack Wilson and whoever the 40 Niners are taking be it. Mack Jones. Trey lands whoever Then the Atlanta picket four becomes very interesting. Let's say the Niners take Jones and the Broncos Love Trey Lance now that Broncos may want to make an aggressive move from 9 to 4. Get their quarterback, and this is again hypothetical. I'm just putting names with teams if the Falcons get a good enough package to trade out of four and not have to move too far down. And yet the first four picks could be quarterbacks. I just don't think Atlanta is going to take one. I think Atlanta will take Kyle pits if they stay at four if they trade out because some team wants to go up to get a quarterback that yes. Kyle pits. His prediction comes true in Atlanta. If they only have to go back to say nine could still get a really good player and add picks to a roster that needs help. Let me ask you this Damn based on what you just said, is the carpets at 4 20 Atlanta If they stay put Determinate determining factor whether Julio Jones is going to be there, you know? Is he going to be there or not be there? It could depend on that. Yes, because I think if they draft Kyle pits Then they consider Julio Jones to at least some extent to be replaced. Right? I know pitches a tight end, but we've had a lot of conversations about how he's more than that on, you know his size and his speed dial, and they have Calvin Ridley, who's a first round pick a couple of years ago, so That might free them up to discuss Ah Julio Jones trade. More seriously. This is something that would be done it for salary cap and salary cash relief team move on from an aging player who still obviously a great player but has had kind of been in and out in terms of practice with Various ailments over the last couple of years, and it wouldn't be something the Falcons could really do until after June 1st for cap reasons, So it's not a sure thing that they'd move on from him. But it's something that they're definitely discussed. I just hope for the Atlanta Falcons that they certainly don't think Moving on from Julio Julio Jones and replacing him Dad with Kyle Pitts is the same thing. Even though we know it's not you said it, But I just hope that they're not thinking that. Let me ask you this. Danny, the Dallas Cowboys, we saw them, I guess shocked the draft last year with CD Lam out of Oklahoma being taken him. No one thought that that would be the call for them, but it was What do they do at 10? So last year, they went in thinking defense. But then at their pick, they had a player in seedy lamb, who was one of their top five players in the whole draft. And they were picking what 17 that they had to take him so That could happen again. Sure, like let's say Kyle Pitts is sitting there attend. Somehow, then maybe they go off of their plan. But that's not the expectation and the way the Cowboys are approaching. This draft is let's fix the defense so I would imagine if they stay at 10. That they would take probably the best cornerback available. I think maybe J. C Horn or Patrick's or 10. I think that would lean horn. If I had to make a prediction there thing to watch for Dallas is if they're sitting at 10, and one or two of the quarterbacks is still there. Is that when New England from 15 Washington from 19 Chicago from 20 start thinking about making a big move up the board and then Dallas can slide back and get a really good defensive player and also add picks as well. So that's something to watch out for those quarterbacks last Beyond that top eight or nine. Then what could you see the Packers doing as relates to finally getting Aaron Rodgers some help? What do you say? Yeah, I think that probably trade up and take a quarter, but no, wait. That was last year. They won't do it. I don't think all right. Look, the Packers. You have to understand the Packers. Don't draft the way we want them to. They don't. They don't do it. They were like, Oh, we Aaron Rodgers needs help. Get him a receiver. Yes, they could do that, because where they're sitting in the first round. There's some value it wide receiver. There's some interesting players. But that was true Last year, too, and they made the long term pick. The Packers believe that they are a very good teeth. They have won 13 games each of the last two years and been to the NFC Championship game. They're not going to draft just to help this year's team. They could take a receiver. Yes. Have Davante Adams is in the last year of his contract, right? We don't know what the future is going to be with Aaron Rodgers. They could look at it and say yes, we need receiver help, not just for the short term, but long it wouldn't be just let's keep Aaron Rodgers happy. The Packers keep the broad view. All the time in everything that they do So if they take a receiver Yes, Friday morning, we will be hailing it as Oh, Finally, Finally, finally, even though by the way they've drafted Pro Bowl receivers round Rogers in the second round 45 times during his career. But, yes, they could definitely look that way because that could be a need both short term and long term for them as they look ahead to the next several years. Remember the Packers there in major cap trouble next year. We don't know what they're going to do with Aaron Rodgers and I don't think they do either. So they could be looking at adding pieces for, you know, kind of a rebuild of sorts. She amazing Dan Graziano joining us here on the Goodyear Hotline, Cage's ESPN radio. So I've got to ask you the jet question, of course. And that is Zach Wilson to and Trevor Laurence. Going one Zack Wilson into We've heard varying accounts about Zach Wilson and his potential What's the latest? You're hearing from the evaluators about like, like we've made a list. You know who was going to be good is going to great. Who could end up being a bust? Where? What are you hearing about Zach Wilson and his potential as the expected number two pick by the Jets. Well, he's very exciting, and I think a lot of teams fell in love with him during the pre draft process, and obviously the Jets who we expect to take him that tomorrow night. I'm said next week. It's tomorrow. They They were one of the teams that did and they're in a position to take a look throwing on the move, Athleticism decision making all those things. I mean, he checks the boxes, but you mentioned. I mean, like there's five guys going in the top 10 or even five guys go in the first round history tells us But they're not all going to pan out. We don't know which ones are which ones are the best guess that these teams have made is that Zach Wilson will be one of the ones that does. I think the 40 Niners certainly would have liked to be able to get up to two to take him. But they couldn't because the Jets had decided on him. So yeah, he's viewed very, very highly. Is the guy second best behind Trevor Laurence and this drive? You could even find an evaluator or two that said. No, that they like Wilson, maybe better. I don't know whether that's because we've just sort of been on Trevor Laurence so long that people are finding things to say about him. But, yeah, there are things about Zach Wilson's game that people like. Ah, great deal is a high end prospect of the position. Then we appreciate you..

That's what he said. I believe, he said, you know, flat out wrong trying to pick the box in which he was too nice to say that. He was too nice to say that to beat up, but he brought up some venison things. It's fascinating to me those old school coach loves love the thing about I'm sure Andy Reid is 11 just leaving tomorrow, Just making it up. Of one night deal because there's so many things that can happen when you're there for five days. Remember the Green Bay Packers years ago, Eugene Robinson went out to find the hooker than that before the game. Remember, the guy for San Diego went to Tijuana? Bless his heart. He was a raider. They they were in San Diego, right, Barret Robbins. Why do I know that last year? A year ago, when it wasn't a pandemic, we were actually covering like the things that go on. We even did like a long segment about the highest cities that have the highest arrests. Rates. Oh, yeah, when they host Super Bowls, That's crap. I didn't even think of that this year, though, because it's really just the game. It's that you fly in. I doubt if there's even a walk through a lot of a lot of times. I want to go. Let the players walk that probably have a walk through tomorrow when they get there on, then sleep late. Have lunch. Get taped up and go play football. It's old school, baby. It's Yeah, baby was his name. Barret Robbins. Why do I know that? Exactly Right. I forgot guacamole at the grocery store today, But I remember the name of the guy who went to Tijuana for a hooker at the Super Bowl 20 years ago. You have to go back and buy another one. She didn't drop. It exploded. I don't go out by step boldly. All right. We will duck out of Super Bowl coverage just for a moment. On. Let's talk back Prescott. Carson Palmer, former Bengals Cardinals quarterback said today. I hate these things on the radio in Dallas that Dak Prescott should take less money because The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has so many other opportunities. He should take less money. Quote. I think he shouldn't shoot for the moon being the Dallas Cowboys quarterback. There's a lot that comes with that financially. You don't have to be the top paid quarterback in the league. Hey, sites, the endorsement opportunities that are available to you. Hey, Also, I don't even really think about this, but I guess it's a good point. He he mentions the television networks. Troy Aikman it Fox. Jason Witten, formerly on Monday night Football. Tony Romo's CBS. Quote that is because they played for the Dallas Cowboys in quotes So very good point. You setting yourself up you moose Johnston in there as well. Are you setting yourself up for a post football career? Just by being a member of the Cowboys? I hate these things. You Hey, I know what you what Do you think these things beyond? Don't talk about another man's money, Right? It's just why, dude, like Shut up. This is a click bait article. It's a click bait statement. Do you have to remain relevant? This happens all the time when these younger quarterbacks are just trying to get theirs, man it to me. It just it comes off is like I get it. You have to make a comment so that you can now we're talking about it, but it's like, dude. Exactly, Jason like well, and the business is yours. All of his points are correct. I think he is. He is right. And this is what nobody leaves the Dallas Cowboy, you know, leaves for another two bit to go be. The quarterback shouldn't shoot for the moon for money because it's not actually worth it. That's why I write s because all these other extra things just get points are correct. But, yeah, you're just asking for trouble by Carson Palmer, Carson Palmer, saying that he should take less. Did he mention The stadium. No state income tax to probably, I'm sure that that's their that's been passed around out there. I don't know. I certainly I don't think that's gonna listen to him because he is he's been made, in my opinion, very fair offers by the Cowboys already, and he seems content to bet on himself and and it's not in, you know, going to Oh, I don't think he's going to take less to stay there in Dallas. I don't think he's going to go anywhere. Cowboys franchise in them. They're not really gonna let him go anywhere. I think you're right. They're not gonna let him go. Steven Johnson and Jerry have those giant enormous egos. They will not will not let him go. It's over a mere maybe million dollars or so they're gonna They're gonna keep him there. Plus the players one of their CD lam a red Dallas morning news today. See the lamp that I can't wait till he gets back. You know, we're gonna striving all the Super Bowl. You got out of the out of that. So the players wanted back and that talking about turmoil of if Dax is up. I'm leaving town. Go find a quarterback that they're not standing. Garrett Gilbert Red Rifle and Garrett Gilbert. I mean, come on. Of course they want Dad back with what they got. You know the have we just for gotten that my guy broke his leg and half in the middle of this season as well. That was dangling like nobody like that. It's not even part of the conversation anymore. And I guess that's good. That must mean that the recovery is on track and everything they say that that injury. It's It's better than having ligament manager A CL Is that kind of hopping around? I was at that game. Was that the thing so you do that? You think you were big poison? You were the big poison that can take it easy man, Carson Palmer, he said earlier this week, you must be on the Super Bowl rounds of the visa, promoting one of those selling something, a copper bracelet or something like that, he said earlier this week, sort of the opposite about dish on Watson of the Texans. Quote. You just got to stick to your guns and quote Carson Palmer was sort of you guys may remember in a similar situation. He forced his way out of Cincinnati. They don't want to play there anymore. So that he couldn't you know, couldn't win a Super Bowl there. I remember him specifically saying I got $100 million in the bank. I will retire before I play for you. You guys again, and they were today They ended up trading him to Arizona. He says the Sean Washington should stick to his guns. The Texans, according to All reports are not taking offers. They say that they are they are going to make it work. This is gonna be sad I wanted. Yeah. Do you think I mean, do you think it gets ugly? Do you think? Oh, I think it's really gonna get ugly. You have to say you think you see him on the field, right? Ugly and like it's weak to do. Shawn Watson has not been seen at Texans training camp it the facility. He is not playing games. I think he may sit out the entire year because I'd be a damn travesty. Dude, it's terrible for everybody. Yeah. I mean, look, it's It's bad for the Hey. He has a contract with the Texas part of me says, you know, you can't. You can't do that. But I mean, they have. They have not been great to him down there. Hey, has not only demanded a trade, but did you guys know he's taking the Texans out of his instagram profiles all mentioned really profile. Oh, he's going like Busted Jersey Shore Real housewife on him the shot Watson quarterback. That's all he says. I saw this today as he deleted like Houston Texans posts. Really everything involving, you know. Yeah. Yeah, Maybe this is a serious serious Does he want to go to Vegas? Jon Gruden, coach of the Raiders. I think it is going to pass. Quote. I don't think there's any way in the world they trade to Shawn Watson. And if they did, the compensation is going to be kind of like the rands. You'll have to give up. Seven number ones. You'll never draft again. Inquest. Wow, would you Texans fans if you got Derek Carr and a couple of number one's back. Are you feeling that? And remember, they went through one car already. Alright when I always call him, David, Carly got a you got a bad car taste filling your mouth with David Carter is good quarterback. I might even tell you, David cars better. Derek Carr, right? No, Mom, You have no chance down there then they wouldn't block for him. Okay? They didn't block for David Carr tried try. I heard this trade today. Uh, Justin Herbert for Deschamps. Watson straight up. Why charter way? Who are you? Saying? Why two on either some mean I would. I would chargers Sergeant Chargers. I'd love to hang, But why would you get the Texans?.

"That is the day that best out of the day. Stat of the day. Here comes that what stat of the day All he does is win. After true Biscuit E. Then it's Carson went to Shawn wants and Nick Foles, Cam Newton, Drew Brees, Ryan Tannehill Kirkby cousins. We don't have time to list all the quarterbacks behind me. Are you well based off that you want to sign up Mitchell true, risky for five more years. Yes, I do. I'm going on record. It's going to disaster. This is gonna be you should mark this one. Don't know We're recording. Yes, we club in one. Yeah. I wanted you to get him on the record that I mean all Mitchell, too risky does his way. That's all we got. Truth Whisky. He's He's sort of Jimmy Garoppolo type. All he does is win. We asked me club You haven't let me complain about how CD Lam screwed my boy Andy Dalton and the Giants game, but whatever Yeah, I thought CD land was going to be great. He's gonna be really good, but he dropped everything. I think he led the league. I would think that catching is really important with receivers. So if you just say, man that Duke and run some great routes Hey, what's his strength? You should see him run around. That's his strength. Yeah, Yeah, Somebody point out that I think, Paul. He said this. Metcalf dropped everything his rookie year on and you know, guys, you could learn that right? Yes. I think the Raiders do that for a while. They just got the fastest guys not worried about whether they were gonna got your ball or anything. But his love is I just run past the cornerback's I think the Cliff branch could hang on the football. Bob Hayes with the Cowboys could hang on the football these guys now it's who's the Texans receiver drives me crazy. Will fuller. Oh, my God. If you if you stop the video right before the ball gets to him, he might be one of the great receivers of all time. It's just once you keep playing the video, the ball gets to him, and then he drops it. You know, you gotta be kidding me. Well, yes, Remember A couple years ago, The Bangles took John Ross out of Washington because he ran like a 3.5 2nd 40 yard dash He's played in, he said. 20 starts in four years.
