"Like he's on the short list of guys I would want running it. I agree. And he is just continues to build his legend in that area. He obviously grew up there, Providence. Creighton fell for one of the classic blunders. It got involved in a 5 point game against Providence. John Fanta for this for this stat, I put it in my court report on Wednesday as well. In the past 9 seasons. When Providence has a game decided by 5 points or fewer, Ed Cooley's teams have won 71% of the time. That's incredible. 5 points or fewer 71% win percentage win rate. As you said, 91 overtime games in the past ten. He's awesome. He said last night, this is becoming one of the hardest buildings in the country to play in. Becoming is no longer needed there. And it is in the top ten hardest. When you look at the win percentage, the fan base, I was watching that crate and Providence game, and I tweeted this. It has me so geeked for the biggies tournament. The top 5 teams in this league are all awesome, all can make the second weekend. Many of them have final four aspirations. Devin Carter was a boss. 25 points, the best he had ever scored in a college uniform and helped Providence nudge away a really good creighton team that was writing as long as win streak ever in big east play. And yeah, they needed to play 50 full minutes on it. Really, really good game. And we got another one coming tonight, by the way. On CBS Sports Network on our air GP will be in studio. And because Providence won the game against creighton, it now sets up a Xavier at marquette winners going to be in sole possession of first place in the big east, but that could flip obviously by the time we get to the start of the biggies tournament, save your still will not have Zach Freeman.

"Forget tomorrow on CBS and CBS Sports Network. Standing by with headline this morning, and he's also got a little stunned to a news for us this segment. Here's the great Andrew. Bogus. Sh. Maybe How fired up? Are you next time? I'll see you is going to be in Boise. I leave on Monday after this show for boys. You come a couple of days later. And then we'll finally rejoin in Idaho for weeks worth of shows leading up until boys. He stayed Oklahoma State next Saturday. I cannot believe that it's here. I texted you the other day. Like I completely completely missed my head that we were within a week of this trip, like my little soldier into Nebraska last week completely threw me off the calendar and all of a sudden I came back and I sat down and I like look at the calendar and put two and three together realize that Oh, my God, Like I have six days to be ready. To go to Boise. So I think I'll be good to leave next Wednesday and apparently There is some craft beer tours. By Andrew Bogus You'll be hosting craft beer tours and Boise for two nights. Yeah, I believe there are currently three of them, two of which involves me coming back to join you on the air after tasting beer, So who knows what that's going to sound like? You got to listen to this the other day. I had to tape spots for our stuff in Boise, and Goldie's has a signature breakfast and they got the craft beer tours for you and I've been doing this and that and more as Was in the recording studio, helping me put these on in the system to then send to Boise for them to use. And every liner made more as slump a little bit more, throw his hands up a little bit more. He can't believe it is ratcheted up this much and he's going to miss it. And so now, as you say, I think there's three Signature Andrew, Bogus beer tourist. He is just Shaking his head and discussed right now Forget the working Connor Green shift. This is the punishment. I'm paying off the bet. Right now he gets to just go to all these breweries and taste beer with listeners for three nights and then go back and join you for Harare on the air on Friday. And I got to sit there basically count. The minutes film in the hospital is sucks. Maybe how good I used to. Yeah, I used to have a sliver of sympathy for Sean. But the way he's behaved in the last couple of days, I do not anymore, And now I cannot wait to get to Boise and live it up and rub it in his face at every possible turn. You should block my number. My Twitter account and my instagram feed at this point, Sean, because we're coming for you more as there is a signature Andrew Bogus breakfast at Goldie's. He doesn't even eat. He doesn't even eat. He gets a breakfast. Well, what? Heathrow avocados and some French toast in court today. I'm the food guy. Let me be the food guy. If you would have been there. This time around, you would have had Goldie's signature breakfasts and multiple signature craft beer tours to invite people to where you are the host and tasting these craft beers, and I loved the first trip. I loved it. I don't know. I didn't know that they could make it that much better. The idea that I could be just Stumbling around at a beer tour, high fiving people and tasting everything while rolling chocolate chips between sausage and pancakes and everything and put my name on a big board. Yeah, this distinct for me. This really stinks for me. I'm happy for you guys. I'm very happy for bogus I am But I think this really sucks. This really really sucks. What's the worst part about it? I mean, it all sucks. I honestly the food thing would have been really cool here that he's going to do three craft beer tours. That I am rose to be the wrong that's a back breaker. If I got to be honest and be transparent, rubs me the wrong way because it's such a people pleasing kind of thing. Oh, come join Andrew Bogut. We're going to taste a bunch of beer. You know, cups in the air That's like that is show me. That is so me to be the center of attention talking about beer Having people get hammered with you stumble back for a pep rally with you. And here I am. Basically, you know Twitter or my thumbs until the water breaks. It's tough to take. It really Is it. Stop to take Yeah. He doesn't even know the worst party idea. We haven't told them yet. We're going to be honorary captains at the football game on. Can you imagine being at midfield for the coin talk that's going to feel like on the blue turf for us. That's I can't wait for that. Please tell me you're kidding. Yeah. Some practice you called, just took his headphones off and threw them. I didn't want to bring it up. Because that is a serious thing. You're going out for the toss. I didn't want to rub salt in the Oklahoma State to the turf. If you go down for the toss and you can tell me having new how upset you'd be. Honey, you guys get to go out for the toss. Look, we can't zoom me on the big board at Albertson's. Well, the deal is that Katie I k carries the Boise programming. And so they have the ends and they were like, Hey. It's going to be a couple of different people. We're gonna be like two of Maybe six. It doesn't matter. Tales. What do you think? Your ass? I'll take your suggestion, since you won't be their heads or tails. You don't get the call, right? They're gonna allow something. No, Oklahoma State's got a call. If they don't let you guys call it right. You flip the coin. Don't tell me you're flipping the coin. There's direct d a flips that I catch it. Honestly, this one is bothering me. You guys are going to go out on the field and flip a coin. With the Oklahoma State in the building. I didn't want to say this because after a day people eating your breakfast, you're gonna flip a coin. And I guess drink of beer too. Yeah. I don't understand. Last time we go to a game. It's a struggle to get the a out of the tailgate so I could see Boise State get introduced. We missed that introduction were in there with them, basically as Kickoffs happening, and he's going to waltz in there and flip a coin. Now you can have honorary captains waving to the crowd. Yeah. Are you kidding me? And you and you hit it. What can I knew how you know it's new? No, I wouldn't reacted better if you just gave me the whole rundown two weeks ago. Hey, we got breakfast here. Beer towards here. Oh, well, the school honorary captains. I would have took my medicine quietly. I gotta get blindsided a week out from this game on the air. So now I'm gonna piece around my house until nine P.m. Eastern, hoping that ESPN You shows the kickoff and you guys flipping a coin. This is ridiculous. Don't tell me they're putting your stupid face on that cartoon as a heads and tails on a corn. Oh, no, I'm not on the coin. Okay? The men's not involved. That point. We wrap this up and I'm not on the coin. Again. I didn't want to bring any of this up because I knew was already bugging you and irking you. So you want everything. Now I want more is there you're flipping coins are gonna beer tours. There is one other thing. You want it? If you tell me you're spending a night out with the cheerleaders, I'm done. No. You know how the Tradition in college football is before the fourth quarter. There's a song or there's jump around or something. They want us on the Jumbotron, leading everybody in the cheer me move that That's they've asked us to be the Leading into the fourth quarter on the Jumbotron..

"CBS Sports Network as well. So I I just saw this news. We said that we hit it earlier. Um and I didn't. I guess Santa told me but I didn't see it fully. Travis Etienne is one of my favorite players in college. You know, Clemson it has a list. Frank. And I think I actually heard this and acts update. But I'd stopped listening. I didn't hear that He was out for the season. He's going to miss likely that mid foot sprain fracture. We're kind of, um, speculating that this is what Carson Wentz actually did. Carson did not have this. You just had a floating bone broke floating broken bone that he had removed essentially so just soft, hinge soft tissue. Surgery he had was Travis Ctn, who was so dynamic as a player at University of Clemson University. I think it is is a Clemson University University. Clinton. I think it's unit Clemson University. What is everywhere It is, um, it is Clemson University. He was practicing a lot of this offseason at wide receiver because they have a really good running back and Robinson already James Robinson And so they wanted to find ways to use both those guys on the field at the same time, not dissimilar what we see with which are Bradley Chubb, and I mean Nick Chubb. And, uh and and Kareem Hunt with the Cleveland Browns. And so that's a I mean, Look, Jaguars aren't going anywhere. But I thought that that familiarity with Trevor Lawrence and potentially using him as a wide receiver could have been a good positional. Versatility versus versatile player for the Jags season, and that just it sucks that he's going to miss an entire season because running backs who get hurt early, they tend to stay hurt, and the perception just changes and it was such a great perception of Travis ET and leaving Clemson. And now he's likely going to miss the entire season. That's a bummer for him. All right, the guy who is not going to miss the season but does run even better than, uh, Travis Ctn is Lamar Jackson. Mark Jackson is Uh, M v p. He is a one of the most dynamic. Players that we've seen play quarterback in the NFL. And really, really long time. You gotta go back. Michael Vick to find someone who rushes for 1000 yards as a quarterback in the regular season and throws. Uh, you know the ball as well, if effectively, and Lamar, who a lot of people had doubts about Coming into the NFL. Um, has start has proven a lot of them wrong. Now there's still some growth that needs to happen in this game, and you see it with the the outright the deeper out routes. You know, the accuracy on some of his throws down field. Some of the decision making with you know, in plays aren't there whether he can take off and run with his legs or check it down to his running back and get things and, you know, get changed. Moving that way. Um, but that will come. And, you know, last year we expected that to happen coming off the M V P season in 2019, But the problem or let's call it the excuse in his lack of development was was clear. The pandemic hit in the middle of March, and Greg Roman, who is his offensive coordinator. I'm sure wanted to find ways to continue to grow his passing acumen, his accuracy his decision making all those things that we talk about that drop back. Passers need in the NFL. You've got to believe that they were going to work on that this all season, But all of a sudden or last offseason, I should say All of a sudden, they're not allowed to be in person, and the NFL closes its offices and players can't congregate. They can't get together. And so all of that growth and development that should have happened for Lamar Jackson, it didn't at least it didn't happen with his his coordinator. Now, A lot of people would argue well, Josh Allen had the exact same situation. Right. Josh Allen didn't have Brian Day ball in his ear all off season and look what he did. He came back after being mostly a runner, Big play type quarterback his first couple of years and almost won the, uh the M V. P. Himself, though, for 37 touchdowns, only 10 interceptions and and still being a pretty effective runner as well. So what's the difference? I think the difference is that Josh Allen His entire life really has not been about being a runner. It's been about being a pastor and he has a quarterback coach. I forget. Didn't we talked to his quarterback coach Sumpter? Who was who was Josh Allen's quarterback? Was it Palmer? Was it? Carson Palmer's brother? Jordan. Was it, Jordan? I think it might have been Jordan Palmer, but I'm almost positive. Josh Allen has had a quarterback coach and I think we talked to him about his development in the growth that we've seen and as a as a player. To my knowledge. I don't think Lamar Jackson has won at least not one of these traditional drop back passing quarterbacks coaches, and so as a result, he was dependent more so dependent than Josh Allen was on his coordinator, growing him And so last year that didn't happen. It didn't happen at all because of the pandemic, and as a result, the Baltimore Ravens Basically ran back the same offense that we saw in 2019 and 2020. Now it worked for me because they got the playoffs and they want to play off game. They ultimately lost to the bills. Incidentally enough, since we just did training camp two days with the bills with Eric would they lost the bills in the divisional round? Which was a pretty ugly game. He was 17 to 3. They didn't score touchdown in that game, but it was pretty ugly game, uh, for for the Baltimore Ravens, And that's basically because the bills are good, and maybe Baltimore had figured him out. Well, Lamar Jackson was asked if going into his fourth year now, if other defensive coordinators have figured him out, said that piece of the year before about people to figure out some artifacts have you heard? Did you hear that? Or wait? What was your reaction be ruled? Gonna keep playing football. You go see,.

Josh Allen Bradley Chubb Trevor Lawrence Jordan Lamar Jackson Travis Etienne James Robinson Eric Travis Nick Chubb Kareem Hunt Cleveland Browns Baltimore Ravens Mark Jackson Frank Jordan Palmer Carson Palmer Carson Wentz Brian Day Lamar

"Cbs sports network and wherever you are on the audit good tuesday morning. What a not so baseball game last night and cincinnati. One of the more entertaining ones for you. People that were starved for offense. Couldn't stand all the pitching in the no hitters and the sticky stuff at all that. Well you got a gym last night and one that had a lot of home runs seven by the mets. You had all the ingredients in this game. Terrible defense home runs edwin d as blowing another save but winning cures all. Doesn't it so you can look at his game last night. And save the gritty mets. The gutsy gritty never say die. Mets don't get held down despite some of these circumstances last night or you could say man. This team keeps winning. But they got some major problems because their pitchers on the i l. they don't have a closer their rotation does not look great right now and i don't know where this team's to go on the fact that they play in a crappy divisions thing that's helping him out the most good morning boomer. How are you you tweet last tweet. A lot of a life me for you so annoyed and four hours and forty five minutes later for sure overjoyed but but the get from start to finish the way that the mets look and especially ending up with Another blown save by edwin d as his third. Rose just is mind-numbing. It really is. I mean the the infield in the beginning fell bad for. "Win money. Tiki Barber here, CBS Sports Radio, CBS Sports Network Inbounds and Out of bounds coming up. Just the second. I don't have it on right now. But Sam, too, was just relaying into me. My team and European soccer in the English Premier League is Liverpool. I jumped on the bandwagon 45 years ago and I've been following him. Ever since Champions League a couple years ago, E p L title last year They're playing Manchester United today, which must have we probably don't care about. I care about this game because my identical twin brother is a huge Manchester United fan because the Glazers who owned the template Buccaneers also own Manchester United. It was an interesting start to the day as Liverpool was heading to the pitch the stadium over an old trapped Stratford. They got cut off on the road. Literally bus driving down the road. Guys hopping around cars pulled out in front of the bus to block them from getting to the stadium and slashed the tires. This all goes back to the Super League failure. The protest that the United Manchester Manchester United fans are still holding Against the Glazers hoping that they will sell. They're not going to sell, and if they did, it would be worth 56 or something billion $5.6 billion. It's too much of a money maker, but Liverpool got disrupted on their way to the stadium. To make matters worse, they just scored an own goal. Wow. I hate the red sometimes, but that's fandom for you. It is what it is. Diesel. You ready to help me out with inbounds and out of bounds? See? Come ready. But what What happens if I say no, I'm not. But I'll do it myself. And I felt like a fool going. Hey, Tiki. What do you think? What do you think about this one, Do you? What do you think about this one? And I'll change my voice and say, Well, you know, Tikki, I think that you know would be good for The Pittsburgh Steelers. Tonto do whatever it is you're saying they're going to do well, I mean, that could be kind of fun, but lucky for you. I'm ready to go. So let's do it right. Appreciate your brother. Anything can happen in sports and often does what's right. What's wrong and who's just crazy way decide inbounds and out of bounds now. With Vicky and cheer D All right, take here we go. The Pittsburgh Steelers started this season 11 and old before losing five of their last six games. However, in those 1st 11 games, they swept the series with their F C North rival Ravens. "Take interior here. CBS Sports Radio CBS Sports Network Take that limp. That limb from Anthony Davis last night was a limp that would absolutely propel me into action. If I am rotting the Lakers If I'm Rob Pelinka, I'm not sitting around waiting. I always got the M R. Right today. I'm sure they immediately administer the Thompsons test, which tells you right away if it's a rupture, so we know it's not a ruptured Achilles that would have gotten out. But I gotta tell you to make a little prediction you and I hope that I am really wrong. Number one and then maybe what the Lakers could do about this deal. I would not be surprised Tiki. If that m arise, spits back something a little less favorable from what the average fan or Lakers are thinking right now. The way he will first all the motion when he pushed off. That's how it almost always happens that how it happened. That's what happened to Durant. That's how it happened to Saraki with the Braves pitcher when he's bouncing off the mountain on the cover first base. That's how David Um Ryan Howard, you're gonna lead the batter's box back in the day in the world in the World Series like you see stuff like that. And I'm not saying we're there on the worst. I think we're certainly a step away from that. But I think that this thing could be a real issue for the Lakers degree BT because the problem is Very rarely do you hear? Oh, he has a strain of his Achilles and everything's fine from there on out it never. I'm trying to think of an example when that happened, and it just It's just very, very rare like sometimes if they talk about the hell like you have the hell so it's like that is the muscular its attendant all junction as opposed to the tendon itself. Good point that gets because I could get inflamed. That's sometimes a shoe rubs on that a little bit and gets inflamed and it hurts a lot. You can. You can tamp that down with ice and treatment and rest and things of that nature. But when it's the tendon itself they're talking about. I can't think of an example where it didn't eventually tear on decayed E is the most recent one that weaken that we remember when he tried to play through it, and then Ultimately went, and we all know how that how that worked out for for that Warriors team is they? You know they couldn't finish out the finals. And Cady obviously went somewhere else afterwards. So, yeah, You need to be worried if you're the Lakers right now, because this doesn't have good future written on it. And I would also ask the question and I'll ask you right now on the national show. Why the hell'd Lakers let them play? It is at that point. It's one thing. Tendinitis is bad enough tendon. Oh, Cece is worse than 10. Tonight is based on the grating. You could make the case here that the Lakers were little reckless letting Anthony Davis go out there and play. Yeah, because you think about what where he came from your BTB. They play in the finals, and that was three on that was it was now It's three months ago, but four months ago they were in the finals, man. And no rest. You get right back into the season and you know these bodies. He's basically big bodies. He seven footers. That's a lot aware and tear without having any downtime, and so I agree soon is that thing flared up? They should have put him on the shelf and I know they want to repeat. I know they want him, You know, establish continuity with this new team because there are a lot of new faces on this team up. It's not gonna be worth it. Because now they gotta find somebody. In the off chance that this becomes a season long issue. That's where I was going. So now the Lakers need to have a Legitimate Plan B and I don't mean like an ancillary piece that you bring in to compliment LeBron and Anthony Davis. Now they've got to be ultra creative and ultra aggressive because it's one thing. To deal with Anthony Davis, but tightly connected to that is, you know the very short window that LeBron James has to win championships. So you've got to try to maximize that. So here's what I'm doing. I don't love him as a player, but I think he would be great with LeBron. I'm calling the Pistons about Blake Griffin, who's going to be held out of games. They're going to deal him. I'm calling the calves about Andre Drummond, who is going to be held out of games, not playing to get until they deal him. The Lakers have to be in on every phone call and every serious conversation about not only those guy and that he could get further down the list like Zach Levine with the Bulls and obviously Bradley build the Wizards. But I don't think the Lakers have enough assets to get those guys. So that's what I'm kind of going for that B minus area. They've got to do something now if you get lucky, and Davis is back in two weeks, and he's fine now, you just even more powerful whenever you face the jazz with clippers, or of the warrior or not there or the Nuggets or Or the Nets with sixes whomever, but they got to do something. Yeah, I had to do something, and we know that those those guys are gonna become available. The only challenge now is because there's been unconscious effort it feels like either on LeBron's part or Frank Vogel and the Lakers organizations part to ease the minutes of LeBron this year. Um, you know this month, though, not this month, obviously, but this year, But so we know what their plan was it obviously the best laid plans, right? People like you ultimately go. They go awry. And right now it's gonna ride because without a D in the line of LeBron is carrying the load significantly when you worry about what effect that's gonna have on him Now. I'm not worried about LeBron first. I don't know what it is He just Other than the one year two years ago. He just He's an iron man. He just never gets hurt, and he's always available and that's what makes him such a great player. Is it? Yes, he's great, but he's also available all the time lot of great players and just get their hurt often like Davis. Anthony Davis is the prime example. And so as now with the news, a different structure if Anthony Davis is compromised here You know how much more of that scoring burden is going to be on LeBron James, where his last year he could share it? I mean, there was many games in a D scored 35 is LeBron and that that's not gonna be the case anymore. If they need a high score, 35 40 point game has got to come from LeBron think there's nobody else on that roster can do it. That's correct. And so, yeah, you're gonna bring in the Andre Germans or the Blake Griffin. So whoever whoever it is, they end of acquiring this not gonna match the scoring that they're gonna miss from a D. And so that that's the real challenge. Now, maybe you'll get some defense of help. So maybe your defense of rating goes up a little bit withdrawn. They're already pretty decent, defensive. True, But you know what? I mean, It goes up a little bit more with Andre Drummond. So It kind of offsets. But scoring is at a premium, man. You can't You can't sacrifice that in any way. No end of LeBron Your right of LeBron's Gotta now substitute and be the leader score every night. Can he do it? Yeah..

Anthony Davis Rob Pelinka LeBron Zach Levine Blake Griffin Andre Drummond Frank Vogel Bradley David Davis Braves LeBron James Lakers Durant World Series Saraki Cady this year CBS Sports Network Tiki

"Thing more predictable than writ running a squares pool is when CBS Sports Network cuts one unexpected shot off the control room on Friday. Writ was straight up inhaling peanut butter pretzels by the mouthful on camera. It is so on brand. You would have thought that we planned it. Quite the opposite. Those knuckleheads thought that the plan was not to shoot the control room all day. So rich thought he could have himself one man feast in the back row, and he got caught peanut butter handed. Not surprising it all anyway. Writ runs the squares pool yesterday because Rich is a sports degenerate to the end degree like we all love sports. "Thing more predictable than writ running a squares pool is when CBS Sports Network cuts one unexpected shot off the control room on Friday. Writ with straight up inhaling peanut butter pretzels by the mouthful on camera. It is so on brand, you would have thought that we planned it. Quite the opposite. Those knuckleheads thought that the plan was not to shoot to control room all day. So rich thought he could have himself one man feast in the back row, and he got caught peanut butter handed. Not surprising it all anyway. Writ runs the squares pool yesterday because Rich is a sports to generate to the end degree like we all love sports. There's no way we could have ended up in this if we didn't but not like writ. Writ has an unhealthy, childlike obsession with sports, his office and again. "It was something good. That is generally an hour three thing, the 80 p on Friday. Also something in this crazy funny to me. Reference the guys back in the studio. You know the so called quote ass clowns who make up the XR 40 I and when they went to them, I'm like, Look at these guys again. I leave the studio. And even though we have casual dress Friday, if you're watching me right now on CBS Sports Network, I am casually dressed. These guys though, man, you want to talk about sloppy Mentioned writ and he's jamming food on his face and that look the rest of them. Al. He's got some kind of lame Notre Dame visor on He would never rock something like that headwear like that with me around. Then how about Hawk? Check him out right now, if you're watching on CBS Sports Network. What's up, old man? Hey, dork! Look a hawk. Shamefully, shamefully debt in nation head to toe dudes. Did you not know that? Just because I'm leaving does not mean they won't still shoot you in studio. Ex trying to act like Yeah, well, sorry, boss. We were told that they wouldn't. Yeah, well, they did. They did. Let me tell you guys something. Cameras are like microphones assume that everything is hot. Assume that if you sit down and there's a camera near you, it is on their rolling and they will pick you up. Yeah, but they said they said, we want you who cares what they said. Every Mike is hard. Every camera's on somebody will find you and they did and what they find old man writ jamming his face full of food. Alvy with a Notre Dame adviser and Hawk shamelessly repping his company golf gear. Do it's be better. I mean, I would never call you ass clowns, but you're one step from being asked clowns. 1 806 368686. I know Vance Max spicy had a good night's sleep. Got into Tampa. Do the right thing. Napped it out. Woke up got swab and we'll breakfast. Sando got low caffeine in me. I'm feeling good. In the meantime, I'm efforting Rams tackle Andrew Whitworth. He is first up on our hit list, and then you got room with the top of the hour. Mark in Hollywood is in quote. Good to see Manti Te'o filling in for Alvin Dell'Oro pretty big of you to give him a second chance far from it. You know much see the resemblance. Alby is rocking and Notre Dame visor. I mean, d dubs. Sure he went there. Alban. Dude, you represent UC Santa Cruz. What do you do with the Notre Dame visor now? All right. In addition to that, My podcast episode 1 61 Charles Woodson is still alive. And I did not get to that yesterday. That's something you want to check out. In fact, I'll be do you have that one bite? Charles Woodson came on, and we talked about a number of things, but we're breaking down What Tom Brady has when Tom Brady finally gets out New England and he gets to Tampa. They care what he thinks, right? He's got to say in what goes down there. He's got to say in the kind of personal they have as an example, Tom Brady wanted a B Tom Brady got a B Tom Brady wanted Rob Gronkowski. Tom Brady got drunk. Tom Brady wanted some upgrades on the offensive line. He got that as well. And why wouldn't she was the goat. He's won six of these things. He's trying to get to number seven. Why would you not listen to him? So that makes sense to me. But what about Aaron Rodgers? Aaron Rodgers is a future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. His name VP. Would you not afford Aaron Rodgers the same sort of thing. Responsibility and freedom that Tom Brady's getting. Wouldn't you pick his brain? Apparently they don't in Green Bay. He doesn't have a set up like that. So if I'm Aaron Rodgers and I see Tom Brady come into my house on the NFC Championship game weekend. And then beat me in my home and have all these things going for him. It would seem pretty natural to me that Aaron Rodgers would look at that and say You know what? I like that? You know what I'd like some of that myself. And then the question becomes, is Green bay going to do it? Because up until now, they really haven't Those green Bay. Oh, that to him. I had this conversation with a former Packer teammate of Aaron Rodgers. Charles Woodson and I asked him Do they owe him or and should they afford him? The same types of things that Tom Brady gets in Tampa Vague, You know, guys of Erin's caliber. You know, Brady, you know, you talk about the Shawn Watch where he is in his career. Why wouldn't these guys you know? Have some say so. I mean, look who's in the Super Bowl right now, You know, look at the quarterback situation that they have. You got the homes and you've got time Brady and my home is gonna be in it. Same situation as a player. Why not bring those guys in and say, Hey, this is what we're looking at. Especially as far as our office is concerned. And then looking at you know what? What the deepest may need to help that defense inside of the ball and helping you know those guys beast out and getting off the field on third down so that you could get the ball back. But when it comes to receivers running back, Officer Lyman, why wouldn't you bring your franchise quarterback in there? Who you expect that lead you to the Super Bowl, you know, get you deep in the playoffs and win a Super Bowl. Why would They're gonna be a part of the decision making process. And I'm not saying you gotta let him make your picks. But why not let him have you know, some say so. As far as who comes on that team, So I gotta believe, man that Mark Murphy and those guys, they're in the building where we will shoot down and say, Hey, we gotta bring a ride in, man. We got to talk to him, and we gotta make him a part of this decision making process. Otherwise, he's gonna be a disgruntled quarterback much different than what he was this year. This year. He just played relaxed. Looked like he was having fun. But you know, you don't bring him in and don't let him help you with the decisions. I think you're having upset. Player. Charles, what's in on our podcast this week. That's such a great response. And it's true right. Everybody assumed that Aaron Rodgers coming into last season was going to be a disgruntled player because they went to the NFC Championship game. They were so close. They just needed to get this guy a little bit of help..

"Is with Autotrader today. We're gonna talk about that in a moment. You know, I've had a number of analysts and experts on this show Devante and they talk about how impressed they are with your route running and how perfect it is now. Precise. It is. Seems to me a lot of guys would not put in the time that you put into route running. Why is that so important to you? Because your job is to get open and catch the ball. So I always catch pass. You gotta get open. So that's the main thing Just with my Raj running, just cream that separation and give me the opportunity to kiss past. That's a good answer. I love that answer. Listen, who are some of the NFL receivers that you look up to right now and admire? Are there guys that you pattern your game after all? Devante out of the Cayman album. What do you like about them? I'm just their releases that footwork and everything, and when they run, they route, the details and everything. It's really quickly let me ask you this you have the draft process goes right. Everybody's gonna try to find even the smallest flaw in your game. And then the blow it up. I'll make it something huge. They do this to everybody every single year. Pretty much. How do you go about dealing with that part of it? And what do you want Teams to learn about you? Throughout their process. "Board. Flip is so good If you saw that on CBS Sports Network, you know how cool that was. If you're listening, the audio does not do it. Justice not even close. But that was the sound of Tony Hawk. Landing a 7 20 at the age of 52 dropping a big Ole F. Yeah, after he nailed it, Like I said, the audio does not do it Justice. But the back story does first off. Did I mention he is 52? And I mentioned that's a 52 year old man spinning off full two rotations above a 14 ft vert pipe with a birdhouse deck beneath his feet. You're not supposed to do that at 52. But Tony just did. He tweeted that with the video quote, I recently landed this 7 20. It was a battle. The last one I made before this was over three years ago, And it's much harder Now. All things considered my recently dislocated fingers hinder my grab. My spin is slower. I need to go higher above the ramp to get a full rotation and I'm really old. End quote. So to put that tweet into context Tony Hawk Is older than red. And he's still doing seven twenties in the pipe. Let that sink in for a minute. If you watch the video, which has already been viewed over three million times, you'll see Tony bail and slam his body into the half pipe half a dozen times before he finally lands the trick. 52 year olds, bones are supposed to disintegrate into dust upon impact. This guy is falling from 20 ft into plywood and getting right back up. It's amazing. Except he's no stranger to getting banged around. I had Tony Hawk on my podcast last year, April 2020 Epp 1 24. If you want to find it, he told me about coming back from an injury earlier in his career and what that was like. I broke my pelvis fractured my some fraction. My school and the healing part wasn't the hardest because I've been hurt before and I know that you know, and I noted, lay low and work into it. The hardest part was regaining my confidence that took me about a year to be able to do the kind of tricks that I knew I was capable of, because suddenly I had these doubts of things that I used to take for granted. What can I say? It's my lifeline. You know, it's It's the buzz that I've always chased since I was a kid. It's my way of expressing myself, man. I mean, even if I couldn't come back in full form, I was still gonna Eight. Somehow, some way I just couldn't give it up. And it also those through those years of Tommy. How truly passionate I am about it because I wasn't doing it to get back. Just get paid or anything. I was doing it because I had to. This dude, That is so good. This is why this is why we do that side Hustle. This is why we do that podcast to talk to people about things like that, that it's so good. And crazy fit and not crazy. But impressive that he's just his passionate about it and 52. That was Tony Hawk reminiscing on my podcast, and I thought that was so interesting What he said it was not yet a fractured skull. And jacked up Elvis. He said. Coming back from the injury was not the thing. I've done that before. It was my lost my confidence. My mojo. You know, my juju. Whatever you wanna call my thing, my it Had to get that back my swag. And he did. And that was him reminiscing on my podcast, and now I'm playing a brand new bit of audio of him landing a 7 20 this week. It's also crazy is Tony Hawk re released. The first two installments of his pro skater video game franchise last year. More than two decades after the initial release..

"CBS Sports Radio CBS Sports Network Here. We got to get into these games were doing it the rest of the way to tomorrow to Sunday division around all sorts of legacy issues, all sorts of Youngest, sending players try to get a better seat at the table. So let's get into it with a gentleman who used to call games for CBS for a long time, been on the show for many times as well and play in the league Bangles. Most notably, one of the good do is part of Pff now, which just puts out phenomenal work. We're both big fans was all about Solomon Wilcots, Sally. How you doing, Bud? Welcome back to the show, man. How are you? Hey, it's great to be back on with you guys. I'm doing great. I hope you guys are thriving in the new year. We're hanging baby we're doing we're doing our best and where we thrive in this weekend. Because of the divisional round games. And, you know, the one I want to start with Solomon is the Buffalo Bills hosting the Baltimore Ravens, mainly because you look at the quarterbacks, they're both dynamic in their own unique ways. And I wonder, you know, defense seems to get lost sometimes, but I think the defense is or what's going to make the difference here. On guy was looking at the Pff grades. I mean, when you look at some of these, the talent on the Baltimore Ravens, we don't talk about it enough because of Lamar Jackson of the officers side, but Clay's Campbell had a monster game last weekend. And and they're gonna have to do that to stop a bill's team that I think for most of the season, they didn't have been great in their year, But for most of the season, they've been exceptional. Oh, picky. You're absolutely right. And you remember they went through there about of Colbert, where sort of ravished that team Right, and Colleen Campbell was one of the guys hit by covert and You know, we've seen it even with Myles Garrett. You know, it's It's tough to come back into picked up where you left off, and I think even with Lamar Jackson, he said he felt sluggish. Went coming back, but clearly they hit their stride. Now, particularly the guys you mentioned on defense pact to queen who had gotten off to such a great start is now back to playing at a very high level. Parnell McPhee of God, We don't talk about Guys like him and up. Derek Wolfe has been tremendously instrumental in helping to solidify that that offensive line next to Brandon Williams. And so you just look at their three down linemen in there 34 defensive front. They're stout as any defensive front in the NFL that we know how good they are on the back in and their secondary, especially at the cornerback position. You know, Solly and that quarterback, But this is going to have to be buttoned up. Because Stefan Diggs has been an absolute beast. You know when they acquired him, you know, we all knew it was a good move and and a stupid move like a forward thinking moved to help with the progress of Josh Alan, which it obviously has. I'm not trying to be a prisoner of the moment here, but when you look it, you know, I mean, obviously, Peyton Manning is one. But when you look at the offseason transactions in may be the last 15 20, however, you want to frame it a decade and a half two decades. Like it is very hard to find a more impactful acquisition than Stefan Diggs. I mean, that changed everything for the Buffalo bills. Yeah, you know, listen, if we all thought that the Cardinals pulled off this cool, right, forgetting DeAndre Hopkins and rightfully so. But that even not even that transaction had the return on investment that you see the bills getting which Stefan did. I mean, it's just been phenomenal and by our Pff database You know, the guy ranks in the top five and all the major categories across every metric and one that we track is explosive plays of 15 yards and more second most Any wide receiver in the NFL. So just with every data point, the guys check the box. And he's going to need to do that against the Baltimore Ravens when they play one another on Saturday. You know, I think you're absolutely right about that. That's what makes that game so so compelling the You know the other game that I think that the pops off for me is the old heads. And this is the Sunday game. It's the last game of the postseason are the divisional round, I should say is, it's a third game. And you know this, Solomon because You play you play teams in Division every you know twice is twice this season. You get to know them really well, you game playing the heck out of them. So when you got to play him a third time, it gets more difficult. Even though statistics say the team that usually wins the two usually wins the third time as well. But The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady are flying right now. It feels like they can't be can't be beat. And I think one of the big additions that you know we now can talk heavily about is Antonio Brown. I had no idea what to expect from Miami and playing the year plus and it was like, what's he gonna be? He actually turned into as good as those guys that were there. Already Chris Godwin and Mike Evans as it pertains to Tom Brady. Can they reverse this trend? Because they've gotten blown out the first two times they play in the states. Yeah, they've been outscored What 72 to 26 the first two games. I think what you could clearly see it taking. You know, this is so vitally important. Can't say it enough about time spent together in the same system for the same group of coaches with same players around you. That's how money For Sean Payton on Drew Brees and the players around him. Mike Thomas and record Yeah, real good so anyway. They've been in that system for for quite some time, and then you've got the bucks and just been thrown together with toppings like in there, and you saw how it was week one..

"So if you're watching at CBS Sports Network, I love that bump back. That's the crew. That's my crew. That's the other side of the glass. There's obvious look up into that camera. I'll be looking rocking those cans backwards. Cool, dude. Good luck. You got something raising? A hawk thinks that's pretty funny. Look at him. Okay? That's pretty funny. Go ahead. Put him on really quickly. I gotta ask you so normally is. We're bumping back into the top of the hour. I'm not watching the program monitor on the bump back. I can't lie. First of all, we are live from the rocket Mortgage Studios Rocket mortgage is giving away millions during Super Bowl 55. With the rocket Mortgage Super Bowl Square sweepstakes. You can see rules and enter for free today rocking Market square's da com All right. So, Adam, I bring you back for the second time today. First of all, congratulations on that. Great. Sit down with the ash. Thank you. Many views is that up to now? I think it went from 63 to 83. Good. Good. Good for you. Good for him. So, for whatever reason I normally do not check that bump back is intently as I did, And there's Alvin with his cans around his neck, not over his ears, but around his neck and they're backwards, and I referenced it. And for some reason, you think that's the funniest thing ever, at least judging from your reactions through the glass. Why is that? I mean, I'm a funny guy generally. But why is that so funny? Well, it's a funny uh, well, the way you just said cool, dude, because we have been making fun of him for the way he wears his headphones. Like the way doctors where stethoscopes and we don't know why. I just asked him real quickly before I jumped on, I said, is that because your hair because I think I've asked him that before. It's not because of his hair. I think it's just like a style like this one Best up is here. But I think it's like a style thing. You know, like DJs will wear their headphones like on their shoulders like I'm working so hard to keep these damn headphones on in any way. Do you see how rich it is? That you're asking why somebody would do anything when it comes to style? You don't find that rich. I mean, I think my whole life is one Giant oxymoron so I can't stop to check myself. I just got to keep going. And when it comes to talking about Alvin wearing his headphones right that he does oxymoron. I don't know. I know what the moron part means. But I just think it's setting you up for that even back could have not been easy. But like why you're using words that you don't know. Do you know what that means? Oxymoron, given example of an oxymoron. Something that doesn't make sense compared to something else. Sort of. Kind of not really like jumbo shrimp, Jumbo shrimp? Yes. Um, and another thing that Alvin does. More than anyone, and it's because of the proximity to the camera as he has a real good feel for when it's on him, And he'll just glance up and just keep a dead straight face like he's zoo lander like he's making love to the camera, and he does it like on every single bump back. It's incredible. So the combination of you picking up on the headphones that he wears like a doctor, and then the make love to the camera. Look, it was just a great moment. All right. Thank you for sharing that that helps. Now I know why you think that's so funny because you've been talking about that for like, Yeah, That's me in the camera, Albie. It. The irony, though it's dripping with irony that Alvin would quote make a love to the camera. It took Alvin more than a decade to get anywhere near comfortable speaking into a microphone on air, So why would we think that he's quote making love to the camera? And.

Memphis is giving the middle finger to the NCAA over James Wiseman's eligibility

"Of the weekend involves one of the biggest names in the sport fourth presumptive number one overall pick of the two thousand twenty NBA draft Memphis Freshman. James Wiseman instable a as you probably heard has inform Memphis that James Wiseman is quote likely in eligible among other things. The school announced Friday. That wise was going to be withheld from competition. Based on a rule interpretation issued by the incident this all being being tied to Penny Hardaway provided the Wiseman family with approximately eleven thousand five hundred dollars for the university called quote moving expenses. That's back when wiseman moved from Nashville. GO TO MEMPHIS in two thousand seventeen at the time. Penny Hardaway was the coach at East High School in Memphis Wiseman he ultimately enrolled at East High School in Memphis and this would be possible. NCWA regardless of the specifics. But what makes it an undeniable. NCWA issue is that in two thousand Seventeen Penny Hardaway was a memphis booster booster according to the way the NCAA defined such thing so what we have here if you destroy all the details away is a memphis. Booster providing a sizable amount of money to a five star. Prospect prospects mother to get the family to move to Memphis and then that five star prospect enrolled at the University of Memphis. There's just no logical way to argue. That's not against NCWA NCWA rules in Memphis again. Prepared to withhold. James Wiseman from competition as early as Friday afternoon. That's where we were. Why has been on the verge being held out of games but then later Friday afternoon wiseman and his attorney Leslie balanced went to court and got a temporary restraining order in Memphis in decided to allow wise men to play in Friday night's game against Illinois Chicago and for what it's worth Penny Hardaway is on record? He has said James Wiseman will continue to play next against Oregon important on on Tuesday night. Now some have suggested that the temporary restraining order force Memphis to play WII. That's just not true. No court can force a school or a coach to play a player. Even when as is good as James Wiseman Memphis simply opted to play James Wiseman for better or worse they bold move for many reasons it could lead to the Tigers first two games and any other Games Games wiseman plays in being vacated it could also lead to bigger instable issues because in the instabilities is Memphis is right now knowingly using a player it has been told hold is quote likely in eligible. So there's a lot to unpack here. Obviously but let's just start right here in Orlando what you think of Memphis is decision to play. James Wiseman under these circumstances because it is definitely not how schools typically handle these types of situations. I Love Memphis decision to play him. Because it makes for a fascinating standoff here. I Hate Memphis decision to play. Play him because my issue with this story. Perish is the institutions that have failed James Wiseman and how how he is likely to be on the wrong end of this and essentially serving as the only victim of this perhaps the Memphis program. I'm at large you know not having James Wiseman at some point in perpetuity for the remainder of the season. If we get to that point its final. Four hopes certainly take a masset but why why isn't who is trying to become the number of picking the two thousand twenty. NBA draft to be able to play for his adopted opted hometown. And here's my problem and take this where you may take it okay. Penny Hardaway becomes a booster twelve twelve years ago when the his Alma Mater ops to build hall of fame wing and his name and he is obviously a key part of that. I get all that okay. Now when that my issues intention here when that happens Penny Hardaway becomes booster. James Wiseman is there's no even real. I thought that who ever played college basketball. That point seven eight years old so then Penny Hardaway eventually gets into the coaching business. And it's been well documented community many places as to why he became a coach. That's actually a very inspirational ernest kind of story. At the grassroots level and at the high school level then James James Wiseman develops into a number one type prospect in his class wild playing on the other side of the same but while playing in Nashville so the family is moved from Nashville to Memphis. For a number of reasons. You can be cynical about it and I would encourage that But one of them Apparently because Weisman sister attended the University of Memphis Penny Hardaway agrees to help pay the moving fees as a side note It does not cost eleven thousand dollars to move all your stuff from one place to another. That is an exorbitant amount of money. And I'm sure the particular details as to Penny Hardaway providing that money what it really went to aside for moving. I'm sure those have been talked about at length and I would assume receipts have been provided. Perhaps they haven't perhaps it's a major major sticking point with this case because that is a significant amount of money we are told James Wiseman is not privy to any of this information. Now the fights against this by saying doesn't matter because and we've talked about you know these kinds of situations overall these overarching situations at Sylvia's okay specifically at Kansas. He was going to be sad for two years for not knowing what was happening and reduced it to just basically essentially once and that's why he's Villa Kansas now but regardless when that happens in two thousand seventeen gene penny hardaway is not even a candidate for the Memphis job. Tubby Smith is coaching. Penny Hardaway's coaching high school in Tennessee. The issue I have with the instability doubly ruling. The way it's ruled here is the circumstances that surrounded all of this. I think are unfairly putting James Wise Men's eligibility ability. I don't even know if I WANNA say up for debate Peres because in the eyes of the it's not for debate in fact does give you an idea via of how pissed off. The instable is in the middle of Memphis game on Friday night. And what a crazy night that was parish was in the studio for. CBS Sports Network. It says is. The University of Memphis was notified. The James Wiseman is likely ineligible. The university chose to play him and ultimately is responsible for ensuring its student. Athletes are eligible to play. That's not a common move. By the way in the midst of these cases the organization's general stance is that. It has no statement on ongoing cases. So whomever whomever cleared that is obviously really ticked off that Weisman and his legal representation. Who for my he's Leslie Ball and I know it's Balan F that he's he's Leslie Isley Baldwin and he's incredible and hoping turned around for Wiseman in the right way? I understand the way the rules are written. I have a problem with all of these circumstances affecting Weisman the way they have and I have an issue with penny and what he may or may not have told MEMPHIS MEMPHIS may or may not have known. Because here's the other deal because because this became an issue in the state of Tennessee and I'm kind of speaking back at this with pairs pairs knows all of this. Obviously he's he's talked about it for two years on his radio. Show the details of of this exact thing. We're known to the point where wiseman actually went to the court to get a restraining order to give him eligible in the first place at the high school level. So what I need to know from the standpoint is when when Wiseman was apparently cleared in May of two thousand nineteen when he still had the option to play wherever he wanted most notably Kentucky. If he wasn't gonNA play at Memphis why was he cleared. What are the what he did not know? Because here's my deal if the NC double A.. New All of this if it knew all live this and cleared him and then someone came back in late. October and said oopsy are bad or by the way we might have just missed this dangling thread on no take backs. Wise Men should not suspended over this if all of the details have been provided and I have to. Eileen I lean to believe that they have given that they went through this at the high school level. That Penny Hardaway given who he he is when Memphis brought him in when they knew his connections to all of these different kinds of players. I cannot believe there would be so much unaccountability laziness oversight on this matter. I have to believe all of this stuff was disclosed. If it wasn't to be clear if this was not disclosed Penny Hardaway knew of this and did not tell his employer employer. Then there's a real case against Weisman as much as it sucks but I am. I am opting to believe that all of this stuff was known and provided I to Memphis this and then theoretically cannot be so stupid not to have realized that the number one player in his class did not have this benefit provided to them. That's why I've got the problem if you told them took them. I'm glad you took it there because this is still a point of confusion as it relates to this specific case because if you read the lawsuit that James Wiseman has filed and certainly talk to people who are arguing that side of it. What they they will tell you is that the incidentally cleared and then they just decided to rolling ineligible just you know new information? They just changed their mind and and that may be true. At least I can't tell you it's not true but what I can tell you is it's definitely not the way Memphis. Explain the situation when it released a statement Friday night. I don't know if you saw that. But the statement the university released reads this way after a joint standard eligibility review by the university and the instable As is common for all high profile incoming student athletes James Wiseman Iceland was declared eligible by the instability in May two thousand nine hundred nine however based on information that necessitated a deeper investigation. The university began to work alongside aside the instability in investigating the matter after several months of interviews and after a review of documentation it was determined that in the summer of two thousand seventeen while Wiseman was a a high school student and Prospective Student Athlete Penny Hardaway provided eleven thousand five hundred dollars in moving expenses to assist the wiseman family in the relocation to Memphis unbeknownst to wisemen end of statement so again the lawsuit suggest that the NC Double A. changed its mind but the university statement doesn't suggest that at all what the incident delayed statement said. I mean what what Memphis statement says is listen. We did the initial eligibility review. Everything was cool. He was eligible but then based on information that necessitated a deeper investigation. So after this happened there was information. Asian that necessitated a deeper investigation and we worked on that and then after several months of interviews and after we review of documentation it was is determined that the summer of that in the summer of two thousand Seventeen Penny Hardaway provided eleven thousand.
