'This Isn't a Game': Biden Responds to Governors Challenging Vaccine Mandate
"Isn't a game. That's how president biden scolded republicans. Who are outraged. Brian Windhorst ‘Highly Doubts’ Ben Simmons and 76ers Can Repair Their Relationship
"Let's get to the latest surrounding ben simmons and the sixers keep pompeii the philadelphia inquirer reports that people in simmons's camp are not inclined to help the sixers find a trade partner for him so given the public criticism from doc rivers after the playoffs and how his name was in the james harden trade talks last season march sign of the times reports that the cavs are one team. That's interested in him so brian is there a chance for simmons to repair his relationship in philly. And if not where do you think he could end up. I've been around too long to say that. There's never a chance of anything. But i would highly doubt it One of the messages. That ben has sent back towards philly. Is that. It's not his job to fix his trade value. It's his job to correct. This trade value raises trade value. That is not something that is on the menu for him and so with that out there. I don't think he's interested in coming in and trying to change the situation and one thing that i think is interesting is that his contract is structured in a way that he's going to get half of his money by october first sixteen and a half million of thirty three million come before he has to worry about getting find a single dime for a forty one of his game. So he's going to have a war chest that he can. Just sit this out. Now i agree the cavaliers and other teams that are really interested in trading for a guy with four years. Left on their contract would be interested. That's also why. You've heard a mike minnesota and even potentially a team like san antonio these are organizations that typically don't do well in free agency and so the idea of getting a star player under four year contract is very attractive but dens value is so low right now and the expectations of daryl morey on a trailer so high we just are not neutral zone for any If any team at this

I was talking nothing but the best he is. One of my favorite people I've covered both at UCF down the road for me here in Orlando as well as with the Celtics. Discussing the Risks of Exercising In Poor Air Quality
"Exercising outdoors when the when there is caution about air quality. The short answer is don't do it. The longer answer is don't do it. It's not worth the health risk. And you know i can be kinda cavalier about things like this and You know i gotta get him. My workout and dim I'll get to last year here in portland when it was so bad. But i remember you know you and i have to go to a trade show twice a year in salt lake city. An outdoor trade outdoor Industry trade show and so one summer there is what it was called an inversion which means because salt lake city's in this basin our valley that all this smog gets trapped in held down in the valley so the air quality was incredibly poor. And i thought well it's. I still gotta do my six miles this morning before going to the trade show and so i was out there and even though all the cautions you know the news the you know the little reading on my phone was saying air quality bore. Don't go out and for the rest of that day. I was hacking like to pack a day smoker. Wow wow yeah that immediate Oh it i mean. And then i talked to people. You know these knowledgeable people you know who worked for all these different brands and they were like you went out. That was really not a smart move. And i'm like yeah i gotta light. Particularly matters is obviously what made you cough. You know you did some research get stuck in your lungs. The microscopic particles can even migrate into your bloodstream. There are a lot of really bad effects and we don't want to become doomsday. Doomsayers here or anything like that. But you know you can get a decreased lung function. Heart attacks asthma attack bronchitis and then obviously with cova going around right now which is such a disease of alongs in breathing you know. It doesn't necessarily put you more susceptible to kobe. But if you happen to get it and have that situation and then go out and exercise. It's just it's just not worth

Raptors, Magic Make Offers to Cavaliers For No. 3 Pick in Draft
"Orlando Magic in Toronto. Raptors to both made offers to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the third pick, or a Thursday, the 4th pick. And then some interesting players, the magic have the 5th and 8th pick and again, some interesting players that they could throw in a trade. So that's kind of kind of something to watch their that song. There's where you gotta pay an exorbitant price cuz you're only moving up a couple spots but that to me says that they have their eyes on, you know, somebody falls out of mobile er Suggs or green off. So they they there's probably somebody specific there. My guess is what we would ultimately see there is that would be a targeted move

Cleveland Cavaliers Beat Boston Celtics
"Lose against. This is a method upper-right. This is much as I have to say. That's it. That's unfortunate. So, you have time to Celtics have left John speechless, look at home. You know what? Bobby's going to say something. That'll accept me. More than what happened tonight? I'm sure. So, I don't know what. Bobby go. Go, go, go, go ahead. Now, the pressure is on the do it. I was going to say is that you should a sense coming into today, that's what Brad. Said, free game that the teams kind of packing in at this point they're in a good position to walk up 7. They obviously have some guys with some bumps and bruises here. So it wasn't surprising to see smart kind of packed in and we probably won't see him. The rest of the way. I'd imagined rabu definitely won't see the rest of the way as he tries to recover from that tariff do. I just wonder dog. Rodger and I were kicking this back and forth to start this one. Why is Tatum playing heavy minutes on a back-to-back? Why is Tristan Thompson still out there as he deals with a peck strain, you push in those guys and off the others back and you still don't even win the game. You kind of you said there in this game that you thought the Celtics were trying to win. John, I didn't see anything that pointed that out today. I didn't see it from an effort standpoint. I saw it from a strategic standpoint. You started taking them, you played Tristan, wasn't a hundred percent you played for, like I said, we can debate the merits of starting to remount Waters tonight. I understand the philosophy. I think you wanted him to calm down sex in a little bit. That was the theory behind that. I'm not saying it's the right call, but he clearly played the best. What he thought was the line up to win tonight's game, but I just didn't understand any of it, you know, like, you know, what's the point of planning? If you're not really going to try? What's the point of keeping Tatum out there till thirty seconds left in the fourth quarter of a game that had been decided for a while. Like why is dead? Still playing heavy minutes. Like what do you? What was the what are you doing? What are we doing
"cavalier" Discussed on The Woj Pod
"I think that I'm working the same amount of hours but I it's different hours and it's all basketball and really been lacasse rate and I think the other thing that happened gene is when we started in October. You don't go through. September usually go through where you're you're in a hotel room four days a week. Then you're hosting recruits on weekends weekends you do have a little bit tiny charged up for the season and that was that was attractive to me in this change in lifestyle they. I know it's eighty two games but it's probably only sixty practices and instead of thirty seven Games one hundred twenty five practices and then. It's just a year got over last year. We lost in the sweet sixteen tain. I went on the road for like twenty eight out of thirty days. I was on the road. You know just trying to figure out what the next home I needed to get into so that cow's games have been so good to me and not complain about one bit but this was the right time in my life to make this change why coach basketball right now build a culture be around around this incredible organization. Billy Donovan said something to me maybe somewhere in his first year after he had left Florida and Gone Oklahoma City that in college edge you spent so much time talking to and you know courting and trying to get to know players you're never never going to coach and that's where all your time was and you spent so much time in people play players you work in a get where whereas in the NBA you could invest your time remember at that time it was a summer he was out at Ucla working with Russell Westbrook in the gym with his guys and and and the other thing he said to me the two initially was when practice sends in College. What's the first thing you do you gotta go Gregorian phone. Get your phone who did I. What did I miss and in that sense. It's liberating right now. It really is down the stretch and I and I mean this in a good way but because I don't want an axe out. I did not come to the Cavaliers to escape from college basketball. Ask Good Ball but it was really compelling. When I first got my first call from the cavaliers you know it was an early. May and one of my assistants look legit tremendous guy says as coach don't forget we got a load about fifty names on your own because June fifteenth is coming up and you can text sophomores and I I just looked and I said thanks for that that I get the sixteen year olds here in days later so it's all all good it's so good to us but at the same time I was able to this time to find just we spent so much time with with my Assistant Assistant coaching staff in September and the team but more of the coaching staff of how we build this instead of saying to my we're where where are they all tonight whose busy season and then you didn't get the have those those meaningful times as they've taught me some of the NBA language all of these things. It's really you're more prepared for season. Then you probably were in college. John Your priorities in trying to understand what you needed to understand now and what of yours that you were gonNA. Bring that absolutely translated where you had to adjust and you said like the language of the League the verbiage the knowing once you get into an eighty two season the lack of preparation against you coming when you started to sort of you coached in Summer League and you had your staff together there. What were the first couple things where you said. I think this is the most important thing I've gotta understand. I got some advice from several people people on this is that this is a very transient. It's not as much as college really in some respects but you're you might get a trade in the middle of the year you you might get a guy that you only have seven days to thirteen days for training camp to get people's ready and you can't have a completely different language than the rest of the League. So what I try to do is change our language to. It's the same thing you know where. I called a bullet. They might call step up. What I call a pistol. It's aside ball screen and so I just rather than have fifteen guys changed in my language. I change their language but if they if they didn't have a name for it I'm using my old name because I personally had names for everything so that people could we could learn it. I think's a great way of learning they associate actions usually a story behind it and then they don't forget get it going forward. We would debate at several where we're going to call it because I would go okay. What did you call it. WHAT IS IT MEMPHIS call it. What did you call it here last year when I talked to my front bench and they'd probably give me three different name so I said well so it's not universal there. What fits bats best? What can we learn the best so it's well but that was the biggest thing. I think John Cleveland was not the first. NBA team you had talked to who had called through the years. Detroit situation was interesting a couple years ago because because number one you know you didn't have to move it was geographically but it was a very different team in a very different place very veteran laden laden with the cap like this was going to be a roster and Cleveland was different. If you wanted to build a program and teach cheech and maybe do it from the ground up. This was the one four that this was the most appealing again breath. I wasn't leaving a great place like the University of Michigan to go and just be an NBA coach. That was not the goal it was the right situation came along on that was really appealing to me and the other thing that was really appealing. Is You know I grew up in this the Buffalo Area Ben in Michigan. You know I've been in this rust. Belt Lake Ontario the chains I love it. I love it and my four children are fairly close by so. That was another thing if you're going to go to the NBA this. This is the situation but it was what was most appealing to it was this was we're not using the word rebel. We're saying this was like I make the comparison to rocket mortgage orange field. How's that place had good bones at grit tradition. It's just needed to make over in some areas and that's where we are right now. Where repurposing reinventing doing things remodeling our culture way. We're GONNA play the whole deal to really keep up with the Times other or college coaches guys who coached very long time in the college game have come to the NBA. There's been varying degrees of success like most NBA coaches. It's usually built around around. If you have really good players you win if you don't you're probably GONNA struggle but but other people though I think different coaches at different times shruggled with college college coaches and you and I think the coaches and I think you've seen this group that have come whether it's billy Donovan Brad Stevens Evens. Jay Wright is a coach who has had the opportunity may do it some day and you fit in this to me. The common denominator is you're coaches who understood that it is about the players weren't necessarily a celebrity and that's important in this league but I thank you. There's a different intrigue with this with you. In some ways I think the people it feels a little bit like an experiment because and I just think having and followed your career the whole way. I heard these things about you. At every every time you jumped up it would be well. He he you know John runs better stuff than everybody else else but he's not going to be able to recruit at that level. He's going to struggle with that and he's not going to and then you go to another level and then you go Michigan while he and then you're in the national championship game and and again in the final four and I think that's the question again wil John's style. You're coming in the league at sixty six years old. You're mostly guys came younger. It feels like people see this as a little bit of an experiment different than some of the others. Do you feel that no. I don't feel as bad till exact same way when how many people said when I left Lemoyne to go to Canisius. What what are you crazy? You can use the worst program they won five game you know also when we go to. Richmond and then West Virginia January like people were what did you do that and then I remember a really successful coach when we left West Virginia and we really had it going and and I had a very successful small college coach at that I tell you that was a stupid because Michigan's never coming back and I was like that's exactly where do it because you think it's still and so. I think that there's there's some things that just are so transitional every coach if they just follow them and we have some experience in rebuilding and it's it's built through coach a lot of coach being humble humble embracing the process getting everybody to understand. This is going to take some time. Everyone took time except Richmond Bridge. We we had a bunch of good seniors but we've you've done it before and we're GonNa do it again. It's there's no question in my mind and it was something that sixty six it was like I feel as good as I've ever felt in my life when you look at the next president of the United States either one of them could be seventy five years old. Those are demanding jobs to sixty six is young in many respects. This is far as boy. I'd I've tried to keep healthy. Keep up with the game and be very evolve as a coach valves as father evolved parent evolve love as a as a person. You have never been an assistant coach. John you came out wheeling Jesuit and seventy five you go to new faint high school. All you go to see if I knew Faint Highschool Erie Community College Nazareth for one year right right and you can attest. I'm not reading Nazereth Lemoyne for nine years yeah contentious for five years. Richmond four maybe four five years and then and obviously in West Virginia for five and Michigan for twelve always a head coach. What what is your blueprint is a coach because your your you're somebody that a lot of people whether it's your offense people WanNa emulate we were practiced today. Load of college coaches and people want to come in. You've always had people who wanNA come. Your offense is not in a book somewhere you don't hand out the John Beeline playbook or you've not sold your book. I don't know if it's written anywhere I think it's on on scribbled on chalkboards all over the east. What was it about having never been an assistant that maybe shaped you in a way that that worked for you..

"My core that everybody thinks this is either going to be a sweep or five game series at at worse yes right yes and i've never seen anything like it and when that happens you better look out and win our man rob parker sits here yesterday remember i've had a lot of beds with they weren't diet do bets they were dinner bits but when he spanks his fist on the table and says that the cleveland cavaliers where to use their terrible in that they are going to get swept by golden state i'm out something is amiss here and when those words came out of his mouth not only is it a jinx but it should show you he's he's riding the wave of public opinion most people think this is a complete mismatch the vegas odds are yelling at you that it's a mismatch but as you always remind me they're building new casinos every day in las vegas bigger better more awesome because knows because so many people lose so much money to those casinos so the reason i think this is going to be a much closer series the most people think the reason i think this is going to go seven games and the reason i believe that the cleveland cavalier lear's will steal game one tonight which you don't even believe i'm going with cleveland tonight i'm going with this to go seven i'll tell you about the outcome in just a moment and it simply because one team doesn't have andre eagle especially for game one and i don't think he's going to be available anytime soon and the other team does have lebron james and not only does your team have lebron james but there is no pressure on lebron james it's been lifted completely office shoulders because nobody expects him to do much of anything while everybody expects golden state without iggy to crush cleveland right so to me that's huge advantage for cleveland because i'm here to tell you they're going to miss iga dollar tonight not only on defense but on offense obviously iga dolla nobody can stop lebron james but nobody bothers lebron james more than andre eagle and lebron was eloquent talking about him yesterday he's andres long six eight.
