Maybe not the official later but like you. Whoever looked up to for the longest time in the whatever not police force organization is as everyone else's tended corruption. Maybe there's been this other guy. He's essentially being fighting foot respected leadership from everyone else and they've been pushing the rest of the knights into corruptions held at the end in. Yes you have become frontier Essentially get your ass kicked and and And they leave a disgrace. And then that. That's sort of the start of the start of your actual jenny as vigilante know whether it's the start they know whether you would sort of moonlighting is one beforehand and now you. Are you fulltime job. Because the era of the castle and the castle grande the first area and also the las area the economy. "Station, Katya Our news, 2020 was designated as the year of Well, I can't say those words on the radio. What will 2020 ones Designation B Road again? Well, it's already official. The Arizona Office of Tourism is designated 2021 is the year of the road trip. There are few states where road trips are a scene because they are here in the Grand Canyon State, But I got a question for you. Well, orange barrels and cones be a part of the scenery as well. Because Governor do see announced $230 Million, a new transportation vestment statewide, also known as construction projects, and few if any people know more about Arizona's roads than detour, Dan So I wanted to talk to you about this stand. A good chunk of this is gonna be spent in rural parts of Arizona. But Where will we feel? The pinch here? Construction wise in the valley. We are going to feel it in a couple of area you already know we've got ongoing construction seems to be your around around here anyway. But for starters, we're going to see I 17 they're gonna invest a lot of money in it north of Phoenix and boy, do we need it? Because we talk about the freeway's being shut down up there every weekend. And I'm not kidding. Every weekend, the freeway to getting closed up there. Weatherby brush fires or you name it, but that's one place you're going to see it. Another place to the south of us near the I 10 and the Healer River Bridge. That's going to be another location. You better get used to construction. Down there as well. And then further north to the northwest US 93 north of Wickenburg, You can expect to see long delays and restrictions and barricades and cones there as well for safety purposes. That's a good idea that they work on 93 there. That's a dangerous highway. And I 10 at that healer River Bridge that's between here in Castle Grande. They're gonna widen out to six lanes. That's part of the widening project between Phoenix and Castle Grande and I drive that a lot Oh, my goodness that is so long in coming by the way it is. It has its own desert beauty, But that's such a monotonous drive. That's not the one I would pick if I was going to do a road trip in 2021, Tucson, you know, from Phoenix to Tucson and back. I've made that trip in Brazilian times. What's what's your favorite place? Toe road trip in Arizona Dam? Where do you like to hit the road and drive to? Yeah, I'm just kind of partial to the White Mountains myself. But that doesn't mean I mean, I wrote down like about 18 different places, and I realize all of these places. You're in Arizona Tombstones.

Says students, faculty and people in general cannot become lax in the way they handle the virus. He adds that on campus students have handled very difficult circumstances quite well. I'm especially pleased with the diligence of our students so far this semester demonstrated by the low positivity rate in our own campus testing program, Robin says. "When it comes to important issues. There's nothing that is more important to a parent than the security and the future of their Children. Every parent wants to make sure their Children have a better opportunity than they had. They want things to be better for them. They want them to learn from their mistakes, their kids not to make the mistakes they made. This is I'm talking from personal experience. And I want nothing but the best for my Children. And now I look at my grandchildren and I think the same thing. I've got five amazing grandchildren and I've never been a crier in my life. And these kids just make me cry. Tears of joy for no reason whatsoever. My kids laughed at me because all they have to do is say one thing to me and they can see me to start start tearing up. I can't explain it. And if you're a grand parent, you probably understand it without explanation. There is absolutely no doubt that I have a vested interest in the Arizona education system being absolutely the best it can be, because the people that I love most in the world over the next 20 years will be in the Arizona public school system somewhere. So the idea that because I'm saying we're doing this wrong with opening schools means I don't care about teachers or kids is a laughable place to start the conversation. I want to read you what the Chandler Unified School District put out last night to the parents living in the district tonight, The governing board approved the return to in person teacher led classroom instruction beginning the second quarter if the district can do so, in a manner consistent with America, but County health department, then Arizona Department Health Service's public health benchmarks in effect at that time. The board will re evaluate at its September 23rd meeting. If the criteria has not been previously met, UPDATES and letters from the district will continue to be posted on our website. So They're making this decision before the bench marks were put out. As far as I know, the governor's office is putting those out by tomorrow. They will be put out for everybody with the benchmarks for safely reopening arm. The governor has said. And I'm hoping that the governor is going to speak now as the governor going to speak today. We were told that this week but we also were told we were going to be informed about business is re opening and we were going to be told about schools and the protocol in the benchmarks. We haven't yet They have until tomorrow, of course. But what will this look like? The governor has said pretty emphatically. Anyone who wants any parent that wants their kid in the front row. There's going to be a provision for that. In any any parent that wants to wait. There's going to be a provision for that. And you know that's exactly the way it should be for parents is you should have an opportunity that if you want to, you should be able to have your Children in school. And I don't understand why That is a problem. Here is what the governor said last week about schools there. Some parents that are are in a situation that regardless of what happens. Their child is not To to their decision making is not going to return to school until there's a vaccine. There is an option for that parent and that family there are parents that can't wait for the first day of in classroom instruction. They want their child sitting in the front row. There are options for that parent. And there are parents that don't have a choice. Because their child needs to go somewhere on the first day of school, and there will be an option for for those parents, not in Chandler. Not in the Phoenix Union High School district. I'm hearing from the castle Grande people that not in Castle Grande either. That the school district's are saying we will not have any in person classes at all until at least October. That's not what the governor said. Now. I don't know that the governor has the power to force school districts to do that. I'm not asking for riots. I'm not asking for anything. But for a school district to not offer in person classes after what the governor said about an option for those families that need it. You understand where right now we are making we're we're putting up battle lines between teachers and parents, and it shouldn't be that way. I will tell you that there are a large number. I cannot tell you a percentage. But it is not a small number. A large number of teachers. That want to be in the classroom right now. They don't want to do it in a crazy way. They don't want to do it in an unsafe way. They believe they can do it safely. They also believe it's necessary. Wouldn't you say everyone that teachers are an essential service? We all would Every one of us. I do find it ironic that the Arizona Interscholastic Association has put out its protocol for practices in sporting events to start again. And yet There are still teachers, saying it's not safe for any teacher or any student to be in school. Preschools and day care centers are fighting to stay open. They have re diminished capacity because of distancing rules and otherwise they have asked the VHS. They've asked the Department of Health Services For for millions of dollars in grants so that they can stay afloat. Why they understand that they are the stopgap for parents that have to work. Parents do not have a choice. They can't take their Children to work, and some parents can't stay home. They have to work. It's imperative that their Children are in a day care center when a preschool You're in school. The governor just described it perfectly. There are parents who have no choice..

M. K. T. A. R. let's see Mr Blaney Gilbert how are you at the heart of my call they should be a part of the program all right a couple quick the first one being in the bathtub Bravo on that frequency and the amount of water for much it made a plan now first they just want more now well if you're planting brand new plants right now you know the first point or you want to plan of deeper saying he planned that RuPaul down the ground to three inches I'm sorry there are already five weeks okay so they're getting some size to what totally depends blade on your soil so you growing up in a raised garden you're grown on the flat ground where you grow and the crowd but I dug out the whole about he got all golf balls okay did you miss that back with some of the good go over clay too yes Sir okay fine so it's gonna really depend you're gonna have to stick your finger down there's something in the soil just to check it but you know typically plants that established right now in Gilbert if your water and deep in the water down ten inches to a foot watered about once a week plenty yeah and how much well you just tell them what you're tell the soils penetrated so what we do is like the gross you know for one is that gazing up is we run our irrigation and we take a soil probe which for a garden could be a long screwdriver a piece of rebar and push it in the ground when it's soft and easy wedding goes in real quick and easy then we know that we've got water down there okay okay so you want to really water tomatoes you know if you got the but well work soil about a foot deeper sos plenty right now some of that organic chicken manner that you had with that does that the most around the top around the plants there now that that got to do what did you say yes or no very good for tomatoes you know what's funny with tomatoes L. like high calcium so chicken manure is high in nitrogen phosphorous and calcium so it's really pretty ideal for tomatoes all that organic that you still in the back it's not gonna be too hot brown though well it's been composted Hickman's makes a lot well though you obviously have been settled millions and millions of chicken so they make a lot of manure and with that they compost it before they put it everything you buy from into bags compost is that what you sell Hickman yes website so it would be safe to mulch around the plants it is you know you can put too much on but not very easy you know raw chicken manure can be really hot like nine or ten nice guy but composted chicken is usually only three or four percent okay anything else that's recommended products yes we did tomatoes well that was good I mean just you know growing gardens like in the house having your soil pretty well balanced you know if you mixed in some pretty good compost chicken manure is a good place to start you know you may need something else as time goes along you know plants can't live on chicken manure alone but you know that's a pretty good start there's a lot of things that are already in your soil here you know Gilbert that clay has a you know a big advantage to if you know your soil say half organic and half clay the clay does retain a lot of things and and then it gets to be whatever your favorite fertilizers meant a lot of people like synthetics like miracle grow it or Peters you know those work mine or you can go with a blood meal bone meal fish emulsion works really well there's all different kinds of combinations is like cooking and seasoning products but whatever works the best for you apple got football meal in the the ground would it be okay to sprinkle some on top it won't work in very well and you should have newer has plenty of phosphorus so you won't really if you're adding chicken manure and rake in as you kind of agree with that around top you won't need any ball mill on the top you say about an inch or two around it I mean a big or not I know that that would be an awful lot you know I I would start off with you know if you've got to beta plants try to work in the area out around them and probably about a Cup full per plant both feet okay not not not it's not a shovel full yeah thank you so much for your help in your show thanks for the bye let's see Corey brown and Cory in Phoenix good morning Corey good morning how are you question I'm great how about you had to ask Sir pomegranates I've been getting that big I researched it it is a block from Ron is that what is that our server here give you beautiful pomegranates and then I open him up in a black inside well you're wrong you're Cory's are splitting because they what with pomegranates that live there really a tough plant they grow well here in the desert to take any kind of climate in all different kinds of amounts of water so from that standpoint is pretty easy for them to grow here but what happens is in June when we're really dry enough to pomegranates are growing get enough water they start to grow really fast in the spring and then they try they stop and then August the humidity comes they start to grow again they split gill a crack at the bottom anything that damages the flash opens them up to bacteria and the bacteria going to feed on them and then they start to rot and then the flights loves rotten so process continues so the number one thing you can do a palm rest stop or from flooding the splitting is to be very consistent with the watering so you're gonna want to water you know deep once a week especially important in June and July okay now keep that from because I have to a woman every year I haven't got a bummer and yet so well that that's going to help make a big difference there otherwise fertilizer wise you fertilize a pretty much like a citrus so if you could read it right now if you want to and then you gonna tell them again you know the holidays Labor Day Memorial Day and that would be a good price you know good patter defeated okay I've been using an up on water and fertilize my garden and all the other trees and stuff kind of circulating that you don't have to be concerned about equal I or anything on the spinach or yes absolutely you know you don't you don't want to put you know crap on something you're going to eat and the problem that the problem with water is that pine waters opened all kinds of birds everything in the environment okay and so they're all gonna crap right in that water you know birds come to get a drink first thing they do is take a look take it down and it gets in that water okay and so when you're moving that water around you know basically removing all kinds of bacteria all the lot of those things can be very beneficial to that would you put that water on top of something you're going to eat you know top of spillage or less but and that's why they have the real problems with the lettuce and especially remain because it's just like a big final and you know historically here farmers a far most letters with flood irrigation "A weekend moving into February. We'll dive deep into plumbing. Spend a lotta time time out water heaters circulating palms faucets, fixtures sewage nobody wants to talk about the drainage, but a big compartment of your home. And you realize how important it is. When it doesn't work. So that'll be coming up in February. We'll have a lot of our plumbers from around the state joining us, but let's get back to January talking you. You may have gotten article this weekend this week on Thursday when our newsletter goes out talking about the five fixes for problems that need a makeover. We'll dive into those, but we're going to first talk a little bit about Rosie have a little update for what a good week for my favorite subject. Rosie. Yeah. He's just had a great week. He's just rocketed rehab. Acing that cognitive skills test. And now they're going onto voice get his get his good Rosie voice back and got there yesterday. He was a little worn out. I said you don't have to work that hard. And he said, well, if I don't work they don't count it as a as a day. So I have to say he's working really hard. So what happens if it's counted as a day? I don't know I guess it just takes a day longer. Right. I said you can you can take it easy. But no, he's he's doing much. You can't get yourself back home. So marathon sprint. So probably week away from getting him back home week away from getting home. And if you're just tuning in or missed it. He was in a rollover of what they call a UTV. It's a four passenger offroad vehicle. He was buckled in the back seat and something caught the front in this verify that the driver was not out of control wasn't being reckless. Front end something flipped over forward. So the part of the vehicle that Rosie was in traveled. The farthest was moving fast hit the hardest. But Rosie was able to crawl out. He was the only one that was able to exit the vehicle immediately, which was one of the first gods stories in this whole event being able to free himself and get out because he had been trapped upside down buckling and waited for the guys up front to get out and help them. He you know, he could have choked and coughed a debt. There is a lot of his respiratory system. Was what was attacked the hardest and being able to get out get forward and being able to clear his lungs was was huge. And he remembers everything he he told us that he he didn't think the helicopter evacuation was for him. He thought it was for Alex from one of the guys you TV didn't realize he's he's still kinda Rosie. We're here for you to get on the plane and come with us now. Now, I tell you he thought he was kind of act like Vietnam style. He thought it was outside the helicopter on otherwise. I don't think so. Yeah. I'm sure I'm okay. Well, the guys assured me he was put in. Hanging out the bottom. It adds a dramatic effect on you can do that mash style. Rosie store our helicopters a little better than what they had. And mash. Copa county sheriff's rescues sticker. They gave him a medal counts of metal. The the saying of it you remember when I do, and it is funny. I I just don't know that a quite applies today because he wasn't driving. But instead the miracle pa- county sheriff's office protecting you from yourself since one thousand nine hundred. Whatever I don't remember the exact date on it. But since one thousand nine hundred fifty something. So we look forward to having him back. He's enjoyed all the cards that listeners have sent you can send those to PO box one four four eight seven. We had a listener. Who knows he's a big LSU fan. And works at the stadium. He grabbed two brochures programs from the fiesta bowl. He laminated a couple of tickets that we're used in those this week. That was very nice. Dad did buy tickets to the game. But we couldn't get. Well, I think he could have handled it, but there's only so much that the hospital will release you from well he's out of the hospital. Now, he's at the at the rehab, and like you said, we expect him home. Probably the end to end of the week early early next week. And we'll look forward to having him back on the broadcast. It's been it's been a long journey. We're close to three months three months. I think just being able to sleep in your own bed. What what that would do for? Gosh, it's being able to enjoy your own surroundings your own food. It. We've missed him already. And we look forward to to have a he's ready to be back on. We've. He called his remodel team in yesterday. Holding court in rehab center. He just went her by not remote companies still going strong still taking calls and be happy to come out and take a look at your project so any any remodeling project and miracle but county area, I don't know their exact travel radius. I know STAN was in Mesa this week working on an estimate for a customer, so probably twenty mile radius around the Rosie on the house remodeling. Yeah. They got a great team. They put together as the same with everything in his life right now. We've got a great team at Roth rose on the house got a great team at the remodel company. He had just put together a great team. So it's it's really helped. Everybody's been such a help in this situation. Nothing slowed down. We just all miss him very much and Rosie got his start in remodeling. Oh, gosh. They joked that it was when he had to restore a room in his elementary school that he set off a firework in. In eighth grade and worked his way through college stucco, and we're looking for to having so in two thousand one what happened with he sold his remodeling company to do the radio program, full-time and. I'm gonna say it was two thousand thirteen re re licensed, and we're looking forward to building up through modeling and bringing that active real time projects they were working on the field back to the program. That that was always a fun part of starting off of time about what we're working on in real time. And there's a lot of things that after that amount of time that the techniques and materials and the procedures and the codes. So we'll look forward to having a lot of that real time construction back here. Rosie on the house going four, and we also have a new thing to the Rosie on the house of Ford transit nice wrap vehicle that travels around the state and our goal is to have it somewhere every weekend. Out there in the state of Arizona right now. It's in castle GRANDE Susan Krieger, far southern Arizona rep is at the CASA GRANDE home show. Lie. Hang on talking to homeowners right now in sight, Susan as somebody stops by the Rosie on the house booth and castle GRANDE what they pick up a calendar. They certainly can't. But I'll tell you what they're really looking at right now, they're looking at the shovels off that we have on our east store yesterday. Shovels right now are causing a lot of excitement and questions. But yes, we have the twenty nine thousand nine home maintenance calendar available pickup. Plus we have some raffle. I ends. We're going to raffle off some heck Sarma products, the gloves safety glasses, and those are some pretty nifty gloves those really sturdy, especially for those that do a lot of desert gardening. And we also have a couple of our partners here desert, sun heating and cooling is just across the aisle from us. And I I and works is out in the parking lot next to the car show. Wonderful that's going on today. We're is the home show. We're on I ten just between Jimmy curb boulevard and Florence at what used to be the Tanger outlets. So it's right off of I- tiny. You can't miss it. It's I think it's also called city gate, but most people will notice the Tanger outlets. So right off of I ten between Jimmy Kerr and Florence and for those coming up westbound from either Illinois, Florence Tucson note that Jimmy Carter boulevard exit is closed. You have to go up to Florence and turnaround back on the freeway and then exit Jimmy because of the construction on you'll be there today until. We will be here until three o'clock wonderful, and we're gonna already a lot of people. So I can hear down downtown calendars. Yeah. And you're also joined right now with Helen Newhart, the CEO of the chamber of commerce for the castle grant surrounding air, you guys call it the tri-city. Yeah. It's I tell you what we cover a lot of territory, we all work together and promote not only our communities, but panel county, so this is a huge event. You can't miss this from the I ten just take an exit and come on over and my connection and and special place a castle. Grant has my heart is the first rodeo we were at after Romy was born we were in castle grant, I've got a picture holding that little fuzzball when he was not even a month old and as it worked out the first rodeo event, he competed in when he was four was at castle grant. So it was not only the first rodeo attended up after he was born. But it was the first one he competed in and we're actually in castle GRANDE at the end of the month for the next rodeo. Helen, when we go to a new I don't like to do a lot of repetition. Now, if I go to I like to stay at all the different areas to experience all the different things at town has. But I have to be honest castle GRANDE is the exception. We always stay at the Holiday Inn because I can always walk to the Dylan's for dinner that is the trae hair restaurant of central Arizona. Isn't that right now? I'm so glad you said that yes, they're excellent food and service, very popular place and quite a historical site as well, it is and cash grant if you've only pass by on I ten you miss a treasure central, Arizona. And we have last year we stayed at the. Franscisco Brandi hotel. What a unique history for anyone that likes baseball. The Francisco Brandi has. Right. San Francisco Giants used to spring train here in CASA Gandhi and at that resort was built solely for the purpose of entertaining. The folks that came to watch the spring training games, and it's awesome. And now, it's groundings sports world. We have highlighted soccer here all the time. And when we had our seven o'clock guest on Stephen hill. He's opened a new museum and castle GRANDE the helped me out the hills of CASA GRANDE pioneer heroes of Arizona museum a museum that is an yeah. Go ahead. It's an awesome museum. I mean, you cannot believe the artifacts and the pieces that they have in there. So you've been there. Right. I haven't. But he was our guest at seven o'clock we're gonna when we come down for the rodeo, we're gonna come early. So we can make sure and see that museum. But he mentioned if if you're ever in castle GRANDE for thanksgiving that that franscisco Guerande has a great thanksgiving brunch. And the whole thing is tied to baseball. The main hotel is curved to mimic the brim of a baseball hat the pool shaped like a bat. The whole thing is is baseball. And if you like baseball, which I I really was never a big baseball fan, but rims become a big baseball fan. So I become a baseball fan the more. I learn about it. The more really start to get. I get it. Now. I finally get no such thing. I mean, there's no better. I should say it in spring training baseball. So that's the Helen Newhart the CEO of CASA GRANDE, we're going to take a quick break in and what I seek as a grant every time I'm down there. I just see opportunity that that town has so much opportunity. It's a it's a great place. If you've ever driven through it. You need to stop. With the desert sun blazing year round, your home meets a fortress.
