"Was unavailable. I think he was in europe. Just couldn't get him with an election period. So i heard this wonderful actor paul black. Who's really good and then cloudy. A black came into play a cheetah and then so a lot of really cool different new people. The kind of got added to this extended family now. Michael rosenbaum's back is the flash. And i have my list. I can tell you. Karl homely kharlamov was really fun about carlos. I haven't played jones of course. And then he got to play his sort of will evil nemesis melissa. Ach and had the same actor played for characters. And that was really kinda cool. I think for carl to to be able to play those two characters so it was really wonderful to have all these guys come back on extra not leaving anybody out. That's oh david. Kaufman came back jimmy. Olsen that was really fun. Had play jimmy olsen since the superman series and that was a long time ago and then the beautiful bumper robinson came into play cyborg. Who really wasn't a part of the justice league universe when we did that cartoon so lots of good actors coming in for this one goodman working without samba cast. Well there's no studio that could hold thirty three actors at one time. There's they have enough mics or enough room..

There is back in 2017 the sign of revelation. 12 was actually fulfilled and meaning the events of that time or about to be fulfilled. Also. Probably what will happen during the end times when the anti Christ rises to power. Even against persecuting Christians and others. They will probably need to flee certain areas of the country and move west across the Mississippi. Probably the crossing point in my opinions where the pie aside creature is And also in Illinois, just for for the record. I think that's where it actually is Exact right on right on the walls of the Mississippi and Alton, right. I think that ancient Christian amongst probably put it there. As a market point for where Christians, mostly in the end times across the river. The dragon will. Unfortunately, Dragon will try to use the river to flood out that area. There'll be a massive earthquake. Um from the the earthquake cast. Well, fine there, figure out exactly what's going on him. It'll cause a huge new magic fault line. New magic. "Get you caught. That movie opens today in theaters and on HBO, Max streaming at home. We talked about it and then sells returned to the screen with vulture critic Jen Chaney on Skype. I'm happy to say that he's really terrific in this, which is no surprise whatsoever. I wish I could say some more positive things about the overall movie itself. It's a very kind of boilerplate detective story that we've seen 1000 times, where Denzel Washington's character kind of got demoted, But he gets brought back in on a serial killer case to help another detective who's played by Romney, Malik. Like I said, it's It feels like a very, very familiar story, but it is elevated by Denzel's performance. And how are other members of the cast? Well, you know, Like I said, Rami Malek is in this and Esso is Jared Leto, who plays the guy who emerges is the prime suspect. I have to say it almost feels like they're acting in a different movie because they're acting with a capital. A, um, so I feel like Denzel Washington's performance was certainly the strongest. Yes, so overly dramatic, I guess would you say yes, you're very aware that they're acting that being said, like you said, it's gonna be very cold weekend. Next generation nuclear is a step closer to market
"The way we produce electric power is changing Minnesota generated twenty five percent of our electricity from renewables like wind and solar in two, thousand, nineteen and nationally coal electric power has been cut in half in the last decade and many utilities planned to go much further but going completely carbon-free is going to be tricky. Extracting alternatives such as natural gas still emits carbon and many states are looking to retire old nuclear power plants. So engineers are developing a new kind of nuclear last month. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission gave its first ever design approval to accompany working on the technology. That company is new scale power and here to talk about it is co founder Jose Reyes previously, he was the head of the Department of nuclear. Engineering at state. University Jose. Welcome to climate cast. Well, thank you so much for inviting him. Excited to share with you our technology why developed smaller nuclear reactors there are many parts of the world that don't have the grid to support a thousand megawatt electric nuclear power plant or they don't have the capital to invest in such large projects a so it really developed it so that it could reach a wide market and so we're looking at small module reactors. Each of our module of only produces sixty megawatts electric So not power or a forty, five, thousand homes in the US. Now I budget, we designed the plant that would house up to twelve of these modules, but we also have configurations of packs or six packs. So it's it's very flexible in in terms of where we could deploy these designs, Jose? What would these reactor buildings look like? Well, it looked like an industrial building as opposed to the LARCH containment domes that you associate with nuclear power. Each reactor is factory fabricated our containment vessels only about fifteen feet in diameter about seventy feet long So it's a very different configuration. What's the climate benefit of these smaller nuclear power systems? A company called energy, environmental economics each three. They performed a study for Washington state that showed that the least cost path to achieving percents clean energy out by twenty forty five was to include small module reactors. Assault new schedule meets with twenty nine utilities. Every six months utilize from Canada in the US many of them have coal fire plants which needs to retire, but we design our plant so that we can repurpose those coal fire plants and we can also retrain many of their workers to work at a do scale plant. So a twelve module loose gambling. Would avoid over six million tons of CO, two emissions per year, and so that's the equivalent of taking one point three, million cars off the road each year. Are they safe? Yes these are extremely safe reactors. This is a very unique design in that under any a worst case conditions of the reactors will shut themselves down without any operator action without any AC or DC power and Alamein cooled for an unlimited period time without the need to add water. So how soon can we realistically get to reliable carbon-free energy production? Are Design courses now approved and so that means that customers can start looking at how to a reference are designed in their integrated resource plans, and so that's very important. First step sob think we can make a very big impact in helping states, beat their clean-energy holes Jose us with new scale power. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective on climate cast today. Thanks so much for having.

Study: Great Lakes hit hardest by climate change in U.S.
"Support for climate cast comes from Bank of America financing clean energy, initiatives and advancements in renewable energy and spurring innovation and the growth of environmentally focused companies markets and jobs. Bank of America NA member FDIC good morning. Twenty one percent. That's how much of the world's freshwater lies in the Great Lakes. Thirty four million people live in the Great Lakes basin. Now, a new study finds climate change in the Great Lakes is happening faster than the rest of the US study co author Lucinda Johnson is the associate director at the natural resources research institute at the university of Minnesota Duluth for the US as a whole to average temperatures have increased by one point two degrees Fahrenheit, whereas for the Great Lakes in the states bordering the Great Lakes that is one point four degrees Fahrenheit. And actually if you just look at the base in itself, the increase has been one point six degrees Fahrenheit over that. Period. Of the last century. So the Great Lakes is warming faster than the rest of the United States. It looks like it's also getting wetter. I saw this in the study US annual precipitation increased four percent between nineteen o one and twenty fifteen but the Great Lakes region saw about a ten percent increase with more of this precipitation coming as unusually large events what jumps out at you there in that piece of data. Well, the problem with large events is that they are just so destructive. They are distracted from the standpoint of our infrastructure and just the destruction to people's homes is is heartbreaking. But similarly, we see these large events responsible for moving a lot of the sediment and nutrients from the landscape into nearby water bodies, which has a very detrimental effect on what a quality. And we hear about algae blooms we know that lakes like Erie that are much shallower. Are more prone to those what about lake superior? I know it's a cold lake. We don't get a lot of algae blooms there. But as we wash these nutrients in and as the lake temperatures warm is that's something we might expect more of in the future. Well, one of the things that we are really quite concerned about is the fact that we have been observing algal blooms in lake superior. We've seen three blooms that happen to coincide with these very very large rain events. So just this past summer. There was a bloom around the little town of cornucopia. And although this wasn't the toxic algal bloom that we know of it is a huge concern to us to begin to see elbow. Blooms in water body, like lake superior, which is known to be very pristine. Now, we have a terse base to Konami where people in -ticipant that the water quality is going to be very clear and the thought that we might be. Experiencing algal blooms this very clear and pristine body of water is of huge concern to both the ecologists as well as to society as a whole big picture Lucinda as you look at this study, what changes on lake superior will you be monitoring closely and keeping an eye on in the next ten years or so the most important changes that we think are going to be the surface water temperatures and the number and intensity of these large storm events. So the combination of these warmer temperatures with increase nutrients coming in from the land have the potential to really change the ecosystem along the shoreline. And and we have a lot of concerns about that loosened Johnson associate director at the natural resources research institute at the university of Minnesota Duluth. Thanks for your insight today on climate cast. Well, thank you, Paul. And I. Really appreciate all of the great reporting that you joined climate change that's climate cast. I'm NPR chief meteorologist Paul Hefner.
Climate Cast: Reporter Elizabeth Dunbar talks carbon-free energy
"Support for climate cast comes from Bank of America financing clean energy initiatives and advancements in renewable energy and spurring innovation in and the growth of environmentally focused companies markets and jobs Bank of America, NA, member FDIC. One hundred percent carbon free electricity in Minnesota by twenty fifty. I'm NPR chief meteorologist, Paul Kutner. This is climate cast. Well, it made front page headlines Monday, Minnesota governor, Tim watts proposed Minnesota generate all electricity from one hundred percent carbon free sources by twenty fifty. That goal is in line with California Hawaii and Minnesota zone XL energy. But what will it take to get there? And what don't we know about walking the path to carbon-free energy? I asked NPR news environmental reporter, Elizabeth Dunbar. Let's talk about renewable energy. I so win solar. Hydro day have to take on a much bigger role than they have today. And there are a lot of ways that that could happen. So for instance, we're going to see more rooftop solar is that one option or are we going to see more of these giant solar farms owned by the utilities, and then we'll likely have a lot of more energy storage than we have today so batteries that can capture energy from wind and solar. And then use it for when all of us are needing Electr. Listen at the same time. So like at night, and then there's a discussion about other technologies so nuclear and nuclear fusion as kind of like an advanced version of that that doesn't create as much waste and then carbon capture and those really aren't available at large scale right now. And they're just too expensive right now XL thinks these new technologies might be key in getting to that one hundred percent. Even though this'll be dominated by more renewables. Let's talk about reliability a little bit, right? Because that's a question people have wind and solar. We know the wind isn't always blowing. The sun is always shining. But we live in a pretty big grid. Right. So can we make up for that? Right. So some of that might come from the battery storage if we have more of that. But it's also about strengthening the overall grid. So like trysofi grid. The system of transmission lines substations power lines that distributed actress ity to your our homes and businesses and if we. Can forecast how much energy is coming from different sources. We can make sure that there's always enough for us to use. And so you know, there's things that can happen to make that grid. Even better storage is one strategy. But another strategy just having a lot more wind and solar in a lot of different places to ensure reliability. And what about when we have extreme weather conditions like the extreme cold. We had this winter didn't that cause some of the wind turbines to shut off. So how do we do an ensure reliability in that situation? That's a question that a lot of people are asking some of the older winter vines shutdown if it's really cold so utilities do have backup generators that they can use. When that situation happens. They can also turn on natural gas plants running natural gas plants all the time in twenty-fifty under that zero carbon goal though is not going to work unless they can capture that carbon. So it's definitely especially after this. Recent cold snap, something that the utilities are looking at. We know that all of us pay utility bills. Right. We'd all like those bills to be as low as possible, obviously. So what about the cost we know solar and wind are now the cheapest forms of electricity in many areas. What about getting to one hundred percent carbon-free? What does that do to cost a really good question? So in the short term, there is a provision in the governor is legislation that requires the utilities to choose clean energy. But if a utility can't do that affordably or a reliably they can go with other sources, but for twenty fifty utilities have to meet that carbon-free standard XL put their carbon-free goal out earlier as you mentioned and has released some more detail about how they can achieve that. And officials say they're confident that they can get there and still keep electro affordable for its customers. A lot can happen in thirty years with technology, the cost of wind and solar have come down dramatically. So. I think you know, the utilities are hopeful that there will be affordable technology that will get them to that. One hundred percent. We're seeing the cost of battery storage drop to as technology advances. So interesting times that we are living in with energy NPR news, environmental reporter, Elizabeth Dunbar. Thanks so much for your perspective. You walk that's climate cast. I'm MPR chief meteorologist, Paul.

Apple, Tim Cook and Klein discussed on MacCast - For Mac Geeks, by Mac Geeks
"Thank you to smile for their support of the MAC cast. Well, guess what? Apple announced its third quarter twenty teen earnings here at the end of the month and maybe not a surprise. Things went really well for apple. They actually set a record for the best June quarter ever. They had quarterly revenue of fifty, three point, three billion dollars that's an increase of seventeen percent from the same quarter a year ago as far as a why they did so well, Tim cook said on the call that Apple's iphone sales were continued to be strong. They had great growth in services and also wearables, meaning those apple watches were a big key to the success for the quarter. In fact, iphone sales were up slightly from the same quarter a year ago. Yeah, iphone sales actually up a little bit from forty one million units, two forty, three forty. One point, three rather million units this year. So up just slightly. You might argue that they were flat, but at least that wasn't a Digal to Klein in unit. Sales services also continues to be the big area of revenue growth or a big area of revenue growth for apple up thirty. One percent year-over-year generated nine point five, five billion in revenue that's up from. Nine point two billion last year, and it continues to be apples. Second largest revenue generator behind the iphone, like eighteen percent of Apple's revenue is coming now from services, and that is trumping even the MAC which is running. I think around ten percent of all Apple's revenue at this point. Now, of course, apple doesn't break out specific apple, watch sales. It's part of their other category. There other products revenue actually rose thirty, seven percent in the third quarter of twenty teen up to three point. Seven billion from two point, seven billion a year ago. And while they don't break that stuff out, apple did tell the financial times that wearables revenue is up sixty percent year over year and a half to imagine a big part of that is apple watch. Maybe some of that is. Is. The air pods a little bit. Apple did comment that they were selling air Pontus, fast as they could possibly make them a moving back to the apple watch stuff though, doing a little math on that data, the financial times things that yearly wearables revenue now exceeds about ten billion dollars for apple. So apple watch doing very, very well. And as a matter of fact, for the second quarter analysis did a little estimating and they believe the LT apple watch. Three has actually helped apple increase sales thirty percent with apple selling an estimated three point, five million units in the second quarter that would increase their market share in the smartwatch category to forty three percent up from thirty four percent. So again, apple watch doing very well in Tim did site that as one of the big revenue generators for this third quarter, moving onto ipad sales. They were also up just I hear a tiny, tiny fraction of amount of an amount apple said. They sold eleven point four million ipad or eleven point five million ipads versus eleven point four million ipads in the same quarter a year ago. Now, MAC sales, unfortunately, those were the Downer for the day. Apple said they sold just three point seven million units in the third quarter of twenty eight teen. That's versus four point three million units in the third quarter of twenty seventeen. So MAC sales down quite a bit in terms of unit numbers. But really, that's not surprising given the lack of new MAC models. Yes, we did get the that new macbook pro update, which is awesome. And I expect apple to settle a lot of those, but it was really too late in the quarter to have any impact on these numbers. A few other items of note from this earnings call. One billion Apple Pay transactions in this fiscal year that is triple year over year growth according to apple. As a matter of fact, Jupiter research recently estimated that Apple Pay accounts for about half of mobile wallets that are in use two hundred and twenty five million users out of a total of four hundred and fifty million users on all platforms. So Apple Pay by far the most popular digital wallet payment platform, mobile payments platform, and that is good news for apple. I'm a huge fan of Apple Pay..
