"Crushed by Russia's invasion. Joanna cassis NPR news turn a mosque Ukraine There has been an outpouring of grief on the Internet this week by lovers of a certain ice cream treat. The beloved choco taco has been discontinued. But as NPR's when Davis reports, all hope might not be lost just yet, when klondike announced the end of the choco taco on Monday the company cited increased demand for its other products and encouraged people to try some of those instead. No thank you, say fans like Carissa prokop of Massachusetts. Choco tacos are perfect. She was a really big fan. Who doesn't like tacos to begin with? And then when they have ice cream and they're covered in chocolate and also with more chocolate on top. Pro grap is one of many people who lamented the loss of the frozen delicacy on Twitter. Drew Huang of California also joined in. Sorrow in frustration would be the two main emotions that I could think of when I first heard the news. The last time long had a choco taco was a few months ago. He says he's still in mourning, but he is also looking at recipes to make his own at home. Do I trust myself to ever make a chocolate taco as good as an actual choco taco? No, but I mean, if I ever want to enjoy a chocolate taco ever again, it seems like it seems like that might be the only route from here on out. But not everyone is ready to give up that easily. There is no other ice cream option in that truck quite like a choco taco. That's Alexis ohanian. The founder of Reddit and the venture capital firm 7 7 6. He fondly recalls mowing lawns for money as a kid and spending it on choco tacos at the local swimming pool. I think like a lot of people, when I saw the news that it was getting ended, I reacted pretty strongly to it. That reaction, he tweeted at Unilever, the company that owns klondike and offered to buy the rights to the choco taco. He's totally serious, and he's even done some research on the product. Born in 1983, just like me. And so I feel a kind of kinship with this treat. He wants to share his nostalgia for choco tacos with his four year old daughter Olympia. Now that a lot of us have kids, we want our kids to enjoy too, and Olympia hasn't had a chocolate taco yet, so got to do something about it. Ohanian says he's spoken with Unilever, but he doesn't have any news to share just yet. We reached out to Unilever for comment, but haven't received a response. In the meantime, ohanian is optimistic. And holding out for the classic. It's the real dealer bust. There's no replicating it. So choco tacos may be gone for now. It's safe to say they'll never be forgotten. When Davis and Pierre news. 5 29 the time now, you're listening to all things considered on 90.1 W ABE. "And another thing I think it's worth at least thinking about is right now obviously diverse is the guy. They're not going to fool around there. They're not moving endeavors to DH while JD's here. They're not moving in first, but Devers is the guy at third. But if Deborah gets hurt and has to miss a month, who else is going to play third? I think right now if Deborah's gets hurt your third baseman's Bobby dahlbeck. I would agree with you find someone else to stick it first, right? So there's that added value that brings, even though most days, his ability to play third is a non issue, because third base is filled. But the fact that he can do it gives you a little bit of insurance at third base and I think also adds some value to him in the short term for the Red Sox. So yeah, it's an interesting position because all back had a good second half rough first half defense wasn't great. But how much are you really going to invest in first base when arguably the best first base prospect in baseball is sitting in a potentially two months away? So is he on the regular roster coming out of spring training if the Red Sox had there? Brothers, Kristin Cassidy make it. No. I don't think so. Because I think they want him to play triple-A. One thing that cassis has, he, I think everyone universally agrees he has tremendous power potential. He could be 30, 40 Homer guy. But he's never slugged 500 in the minor leagues. He's now, I think, then you see what he does, like in the Olympics, right? He plays 5 games, hits three home runs, all three of them go ahead and owners. I think it's there. And I think they think it's there, but that he is a smart enough young player and a confident enough young player that he has spent the minor leagues honing his hitting, right? Being a I mean, he has a legit two strike approach. He could go up the middle. He does, he has never once tried to just sell out for power and show everyone that he can hit massive home runs. I think that's just in there. And when he I think there's a chance when he gets to a stage when he needs it, he's going to be that guy. But I think you still want to see it. And I think you still wanted to go back to triple-A, get some time. You know, I mean, he's pretty young and mixed in here as a whole minor league season that was lost. It's not the worst for him to get a little bit more development time, especially in triple-A and then especially when high bloom has talked about that he thinks triple-A is a vital step for these guys. You know, in the past under dombrowski, you know, Devers basically skip triple-A, been attende basically skip triple-A. I don't know that we're going to see that very much under high, because he has talked about that he thinks triple-A is a vital step along the way. And so I know I don't think there's much of any chance that cassis makes team out of spring training..

"But this postseason has proven to us again that nobody knows what's going on. This is the ultimate beauty of the sport is we're always wrong about it. And I'm never going to apologize for getting a prediction wrong. That's why baseball is so great, but I'll take the Astros in 7 of the understanding that anything is possible in this series. And I've got the braves and 6 in this series. Yeah. Well, you can't really that music no longer applies to my predictions anymore. Okay, Taylor, 'cause I actually picked the braves correctly. So give me a little bit of credit. All right. Let's talk about the Red Sox Tim and what's next for them. Big decisions on the table, JD Martinez has to decide he's going to opt out of his contract. He's got one year left in 19.35 million. I can't imagine that he would step away because I don't think anybody else is going to offer him that kind of money for a DH type player. Kyle schwarber said the other day, I'd love to be back with the Red Sox. I don't know if he's necessarily a fit. They're top prospect Tristan cassis is a first baseman. I think the only way schwarber rejoins the team is if Jamie Martinez opts out. And then of course they have to think about re signing and war to Rodriguez. What do you see ahead for the Red Sox? Well, I'm with you on JD. I can't imagine him getting 20 million from somebody else. And I know and you know how much he enjoys playing for Alex Cora and playing on that team. So my guess is he's going to not opt out and return. Schubert meant so much to that team buster as you know from a personality standpoint and a production standpoint that I think they really want him back and they should. But you're right, where is he going to play? It's one thing to mix and match, move him around, outfield DH first base for a couple of months and a couple of important months. But to do it for a whole year is going to be difficult. So my guess is he's going to sign somewhere else because.

Report: New York Mets GM admits explicit texts to female reporter
"Report tonight and they have a lot of it verified by Jared Porter himself. Jared Porter is the Mets general manager who was hired by Sandy Alderson when he came in to run baseball operations following Steve Cohen bought the team. Well, According to this ESPN report, Jared Porter sent explicit unsolicited text and images to a female reporter in 2016 when he was with the Cubs that culminated with a picture of an erect Naked male member this, according to a copy of the text history that was obtained by ESPN. Here's the details, and then I'll tell you why. I can't believe he hasn't been let go. Already. The woman was a foreign correspondent who moved to the United States to cover Major League baseball. They had a chance meeting in an elevator. And she thought Jared Porter yellow. Jared Porter is working for the Cubs, and she was making a connection in networking. So they exchange information. Uh, that's the only time they actually spoke, was in that elevator when they met. So then Jared Porter and this woman start texting with each other and he text her. Hey, we should get together. We should have a drink, and he's texting her a lot, right. He's texting her a lot. And she's responding once every you know if you text Hey, let's get it. Let's have a drink. Let's do this. Let's do that on. They didn't meet for a drink. One night after said she could meet with him Jared Porter, sending unsolicited selfie of himself just a selfie of himself. It's me in this picture is in the ESPN article, and he wrote back like And she didn't respond. Uh Then he texted the next day saying, Why aren't we hanging out? You're so pretty. Do you have a boyfriend? It could be me on this is going on now for a few days. After she sent a selfie Now she sends a selfie back to him. And Porter responded. You're gorgeous. You want more of me? She said yes. Explaining the ESPN. I thought it would be awkward to say no, I didn't think of where it would progress. Then Porter sent three pick. Yeah, this is where l k doors opened an escalating quickly horses out of the barn. Porter then sent three pictures, including the first of several that would show a man lying on a bed with a bulge in his pants. The woman was initially confused. Quarter wrote like she laughed again and texted. Yes, though she told ESPN Shin and realized the intention of the photo taken. You're not married, she asked. So okay, so here's little bit of him, sending a lot of text and it seems a little weird Stalker ish and some stuff you wouldn't send. But she is sending back to him, and she's sending things like yes, and liking pictures that he sent So then she realizes that things were getting to a sexual nature and she doesn't respond. Quarter than saying. This is this is the big deal. Porter then sent 62 unanswered texts. 62, including seven photos. That included the final nude photo of a naked male member. Now. When Jared Porter was asked about this, he admitted sending the text and then when he was asked, Are these pictures of you? He said, No. Those air stock images so apparently the Cassis I went on Twitter and found a stock image of I went looking for male members everywhere. It's all I got to use. This one wanted representative, I guess. Yeah, I gotta get going. Does that have that? Have a birthmark? Does that of this was And so that's what he said. He said Then, when ESPN told them we're running a story on this, Do you want to comment? Jared Porter stopped and didn't call them back. The Mets released a statement tonight saying they have spoken with Jared Porter, and they will have Maura after they do their own investigation with this now, obviously, this is just happening, and you can make an argument in the in the in the first part of it that Well, what was he overboard? She have sent those texts? No, he shouldn't have. But she did send back responses that were in the positive of Yes. So he thinks, okay, I'm cool, sending these images to you, and then when she cuts it off, that's where things get back because then 62 texts. That go unanswered. And then you're still still sending naked pictures of of male members. Uh, yeah. You know Jared Porter, I think you've had your last day Has Mets GM. I mean, I know what happened when you were with the Cubs. I understand that. But this is a horrible optic that the Mets don't need the entire time. He's GM Who's gonna take him seriously, who forget about whatever charge you might face for stalking or Harassment. Whatever it is, Uh, really? You're gonna keep this guy around. I just don't see it. I mean, I just don't know. Is it gonna happen in 12 hours is going to happen in 10 minutes, but the Mets can't go forward him is the G M. Because at the very least, this is a really bad optic. They don't need that. Just going to embarrass the entire organization and they need to say you know what? Jared, I'm sorry. But, boy, this is too much for us and good luck and you're done and we're gonna have a new GM. And we're gonna call Jason Smith that Fox Sports radio because he's got a finger on the pulse. "If you are a columnist like John cast You might face being ostracised from your colleagues attacked by the reporters union and being made to make concessions to the mob by your paper's editor. Let's start there with returning guest. I love this guy's intellect and whipped and sarcasm. Professor Charles Lipson is here really clear politics, contributor and professor emeritus. Of political science down in Hyde Park at the University of Chicago, Sir. Welcome back. I reached out to John cast to see if he wanted to be on the radio this week. I think he wisely decided to put this in his rear view mirror as faras an argument with the Tribune. But I'm glad you stuck up for him. How faults were these charges? Do you think they were fault of? I want everybody to understand what the nature of the dispute is. If you don't mind not to go answer. John Test, wrote a column that tried to deal with urban violence, and in particular, he was arguing that across the country, there have been a lot of prosecutors who were elected under the theme of what's called Justice Democrats and their, UM They've done a lot of the things that Kim Foxx and others have done, which is they don't prosecute a lot of, uh, crimes. They don't Ah, shoplifting in Chicago. I forget the number. Whether it's $975 dollars $1000. I could tell you exactly what it is. Because my wife and I dealt with this. We caught a shoplifter today. But she will not be prosecuted. We don't think until she reaches not $1000 threshold one time, but several times before Kim Fox's department gets involved because she says she has essentially bigger fish to fry than shoplifters. It's shocking. Because, of course, what has happened has been a skyrocketing of crime in any of them. They're all across the country. It's not just in Chicago. It's not just in Portland. It's in Philadelphia. A lot of other cities and They weren't just elected by accident. It's been ah, movement by the political left. A lot of the funding has come from George Soros. And so the accusation was made by the writers union at the Chicago Tribune. It's a union that negotiates the Tribune Guild. They out of Cassis article was any somatic. It was any Jewish because sure, owes his background family background is Jewish. I don't know whether he practices Judaism or not, but he his family background was Jewish, and the themes have sometimes used in truly anti Semitic. Comments. You know, Jewish money acting behind the scenes, that sort of thing, eyes really controlling everything. That that wasn't I'm assuming. And you I know feels same way John cast wasn't bringing up some sort of trope anti Semitic trope. He was just mention George Soros funds. A lot of the state's attorney's who have these new policies. End of story. That's the only connection is the name right? That's exactly how I read it. And I've been involved in a lot of these issues my entire life. Ah, ah, particularly about anti Semitism. But I but bigotry issues in general and I felt like this was a false accusation. I happen to know John and know him quite well. But I know that there was no bigger three there. But even if I just read it on my own, and I checked with a number of other people, and I would say it was, I wouldn't say it was quite unanimous that we're very much people on the on the far left who, for whatever reason, wanted to go after either him or wanted to defend Soros who were looking for Ah away say that this was wrong. Column, But I think that there's been over whelming support for John for that tour..
How Our Current Virus Crisis Will Drive Techquisition
"Over the years this podcast has continued to gain recognition as a great resource for small business owners, sales, professionals business leaders. And that is because of the guests, these folks who have expertise in particular areas of business, and they join me to share that expertise with all of you. Today is no exception. My guest today is Paul. QUADRA CASSIS. In his book, Go tech or go. Extinct Paul shares is revolutionary approach to transforming legacy companies into forward thinking industry leaders. Through strategic acquisition of distrupt disruptive technology companies. House Entrepreneur Investment Banker and strategic advisor to CEO's senior executives, boards and shareholders of companies operating in or interested in the technology and digital industry sectors. He's on a mission to help large established non tech companies partner with technology companies to avoid being blindsided by exponential change. Has Been quoted in the Washington. Post Los Angeles Times U. S., News and world, report and Forbes. He lives most of the time in London with his wife and their three children. Thanks so much for joining me today Paul. The, Diane good to be here. I am happy to have you here now. You were talking today about. A! Lot Of what your book is about which is why non tech combination? CHOIR TECH COMPANIES AND Help me understand. Why they can't just use technology and an license designed their own solution rather than acquiring a company. Great Question. and. Almost. Everyone asks that at some point of this journey. And they first of all companies should be using in licensing. Technology software systems etcetera for their own purposes and designing bespoke. Solutions so certainly they should be doing that. However the problem is if that's all they do. If that's all a company, does then they're not gaining any competitive advantage with regard to the the other industry participants. Now this may not have matter too much ten or twenty years ago when technology was more internal, supporting the replacement of spreadsheets Placing frankly the typewriter but with the. Advent of the IPHONE smartphone, developing and and four G. Communications, and all the other wonderful. Elements of technology that has embraced the world That's no longer the case and technology today. Is being used to attract customers retain customers. and have them be delighted by your offerings and your services and therefore. Because technology is now so important to while your entire value chain, but especially your your customers. It's become a competitive tool. We we often say that. The porter five forces competitive model model competition that he designed back in Nineteen, seventy nine. Is a little bit out of date now it still applies, but in fact, we think that model has been transformed in a three way by technology so every single force of his five forces, the power of the bargaining power of customers bargaining power of suppliers, etc.. Has, been transformed by technology technology companies, therefore, if all you're doing licensing. That technology and not owning the the the let's say the latest the best most powerful technology solution that can impact your customers if you don't own that. Then you don't have any particular edge over your competitors. And your competitors aren't just your traditional. Competitors their new disruptors. Amazon's who are disrupting the sears in the walmarts of the world, so your whole competitive playing field is changing constantly, and even the biggest most most solid players tech companies know that they can be disrupted at any moment. Any Grove was famous for saying only the paranoid survive, and that's one reason, if not the main reason, why until did as well as a dead? It's why Mark Zuckerberg at facebook acquired instagram I think it was back in two thousand twelve for billion dollars, even though the company had no revenue, only thirteen employees because he knew that facebook could have been disrupted by like instagram now today, instagram, probably worth couple of hundred billion dollars. we, we see this, you know we see this all the time. Certainly with tech companies acknowledging be out of existence. If they don't own the the latest developments are the most important fundamental technology factors for their businesses. It's it's a reason why Google renamed themselves to Alphabet, because even though the Google search engine combined with you probably delivers ninety percent of their revenue and profits. The company knows that anything can happen. They could be disrupted. At any time just like they themselves disrupted the newspapers and other sources of information before Google came on the scene.

"To feed me, and bathe me until I pay off all of these loans. I guess technically the Bank already got their money. And now, I'm fighting with the fucking Bank. Also, stop calling me and asking for more money unless you put my fucking name on a building. I should at least get to have my name on the dorm room that I masturbated in for three years. I just want that tiny plaque on the door. Room. That can't be that much. That's a great idea for them. They should pay you for that. I had a Dingell which was the double single. Everybody hang out in Matt Stingl? Also. Yeah. Money is made up anyway. So why don't we just pretend like I paid you? If we both believe that I paid you then I did start sending monopoly money. Yeah. It's it's like Tinkerbell everybody just clap loud enough. So that you believe that you're rich. I also my hottest budgeting tip is that when I started to compare to items one of which is more expensive. I've started convincing myself that the real cost of the item is just the difference in price. That makes it makes sense. But it's not a good way to budget because it's like, I'm already at least spending as much as a cheaper item. So that is that is going to come out of my account. No matter what. So the real cost real thing. That's costing me is just the difference. Right. And that's how I convince myself to always buy the more expensive item. Hot tip hunted for listeners out there. I just do. I feel like I'm one of the susceptible people. Like, I was talking to my mom Mueller day what I was at the Dwayne Reed. And I was buying allergy medicine because I missed one day, and it fucked me the fuck PO God, I yeah. My system is trash. There's no I missed like one one allergy pill, which I take every day year round. So my system is wholly dependent on having that fucking pill. And I bought like one of the over the counter bottles of like name brand allergy things, and it was like forty bucks, and my mom was like I buy like a tub of those from Sam's Club for like five dollars. And it's like four hundred pills. I'm like, I don't trust that even though I think it's literally the same thing. It is. I'm one of those people who's like, I believe I believe the name brand, I believe in the brand. And I know I'll leave in the brand everyone is probably shocked to hear that. I seem like I like a thrifty by like I'll yeah. No love. Those are all the budgeting things. I have to talk about it should go without saying that I'm absolutely no expert in money as with anything here came off as vice in any way through the process because he will get and that. That's it for this week's deep dive. We got Gabby done in the studio after this commercial break. Get your thumb ready to hit that subscribe button.
