"You almost punched your ticket and automatic bed to the breeders cup distaff last weekend at Churchill downs in the floor to Lee. He had super quick, we ran a big race finish second behind the ultra talented she dares the devil. Tell me a little bit about that race when you think back on it. Just really proud of super quick performance. Everybody was kind of watching and expecting big things from her. She had ran a one O 7 buyer number in her previous start, which I thought might have been a little bit inflated. She'd come back and she got beat by really talented horse that absolutely loves Churchill downs. And we ran a 95 buyer that day. But I think that's probably where we're really at, which wins a lot of good races for Phillies and mayors. So we're excited about super quick for sure. I was very proud of our performance and always stings when you get beat by one of your old horses because most people forget that I had she dares a devil the first time she broke or made when she broke her maiden first time out. So you have to laugh. You only can laugh at some of those things when that happens to you. Yeah. Karma, I guess, right? It's not good karma when it happens that way either. Are you still thinking breeders cup with super quick maybe? Sure. I just think I got to figure out the best way to get there. I'm very excited about the possibility of running her in the breeders cup because to me, she's just getting better. I mean, I guess you could suggest that she regressed a little bit from the Maryland race, but I don't believe that. I believe she probably ran her best race ever last Saturday. She got beat by a better horse. But every race has been getting better and better. We like the myelin N 8 distance. We know she loves kingland. And I don't see any reason why we should think that she won't be in the breeders cup. When norm Cassie hears the words, breeders cup. What are some of the things that immediately pop into your head? Captain. First thing it pops in my head. Yes. Tap in and then I guess classic empire and I'd like I said, I've been very fortunate to be involved in a lot of really cool lot of cool races and a lot of cool horses and just so proud of what we've accomplished so far and where we're heading. But yeah, tep and I would say tap and win in the breeders cup mile against the boys at kingland, which is our home. That's tops right now. Do you find norm that having been around those types of elite horses when you were working with your dad? That that's helping you now when you start getting better stock into your operation and getting greatest states caliber runners. Does that help having already been around some top horses like that? Sure, it does. I've already managed them. I imagine if you were a guy who just started on your own, you kind of get, you know, you kind of get the ball rolling and you start getting better horses and now you're involved in these big time races and there's Todd pletcher standing next to you. There's Chad Brown and Wayne Lucas and those guys are standing in the paddock with you. They've been there done that and you're there for the first time that's got to be very, very overwhelming. Fortunately for me, again, I say this trying to be modest. I've been there done that. We don't get overwhelmed and these situations because we've been there. And I think that pays dividends when you're running horses because to me, the horse is just seem to run better when they're relaxed and more importantly, the entire barn and operation is relaxed. And we don't, you know, we never really let the moment get to us too much. Look ahead to Saratoga. What can folks expect from the norm Cassie Barnett Saratoga? Really, to be honest, limited. I'm going to run, I gave me 12 stalls. I'll run when I can and when it makes sense. My main goal, Mike is to be eventually to be the guy in Kentucky. And that is king one in Churchill. So I use the summer more of as a time to refresh the stable. I kind of unloaded everything at the end of the Churchill meet and yeah, if we run something at Saratoga, I'll probably only run once and I will be it and then we'll regroup and run it. At Churchill in September, but the goal is the way I see it is when you're a smaller barn and I say that it's relative. I had 45 horses when you're a smaller barn. You can't, you've got to pick two times of the year where you kind of got to have a little bit of a down period. And for us, it's during the summer when we regroup and right after Thanksgiving. And so we're excited about Saratoga. We do have some runners, but at the end of the day, it's not our priority. Yeah, it could be a huge late summer and fall for norm Cassie and his team, norm really appreciate the visit this morning. Thanks for taking the time as always and good luck later today and good luck moving forward, my friend. Thank you. Thank you. Anytime I love coming on, thank you very much. All right. Norm Cassie going down the road to the breeders cup that segment

"Selena good morning, how are you? Good morning, sunshine. How are you? I'm great. I need an update on John fetterman. The democratic nominee for senator will be facing Doctor Oz. I have tried to decipher what the story is on his health. What do you know? What I know is that he was, he in 2017, his doctor had told him that not only did he need to lose weight, he was a 400 pounds, but he also had a heart condition, and he needed to be taking blood thinner. You know, I mean, it really compartmentalizing it, but that's basically what they told him. What he did do is lose the weight. It was sort of dramatic, very quickly, he lost it. But he didn't ever go back to the doctor. Never took the blood center. And that is why he fell ill, it was not why he had the stroke, but that is why he fell ill and had to have the pacemaker. And so he never sort of revealed this and now that's all caught up with him. And his doctor put out a statement the other day, say, you know, saying in effect, you know, this is what happened. He almost died and we now have him in a pacemaker and taking the blood thinner and he's on the road to recovery. Now, there are lots of kinds of strokes. And I have friends who have had different kinds of strokes, and one of them is 95% recovered, but he speaks slowly. And others take a long time to recover and others, you don't even know that they had the event. This does not appear to be one of those. This appears to be some major rehab time ahead, which is not exactly what you want when Doctor Oz is out there, Dave McCormick conceded to him. Doctor Oz is the nominee. He's not really a traditional Republican, but John fetterman, I thought he was going to be better in any way. It was the Barnett woman that worried me about losing. So I think Doctor Oz is going to win, but what is the deal on when fetterman returns? Do you have any idea when he returns to public conversation? And we really have no idea. It is just something that is we haven't seen him. We have a third him, there have been photos put out by his wife, giselle, but we have not seen or heard him since a couple days before the election. So it's almost been a month. Okay, I'm going to go out here and I've seen enough. The decision to ask is calling Josh Shapiro governor of Pennsylvania and Doctor Oz is senator of Pennsylvania. Because frankly, the other two are not competitive. What do you think? You're absolutely right. You're not a lot of tickets. You're reading Selena zito. Yeah, lots of split tickets coming up 'cause Josh apparel is a great candidate against a guy who's from the right of the right of the right, not in the mainstream. Did you call him a religious nationalist? I have a friend who likes to use that term, but he uses it broadly, and I tell me why you think that. I think well, you know, I had a great piece about him and all the problems that he has right now. But that's just among part of his problem. He indicates that he is sent by God for this for this. Never a good sign. Yeah, I know, but trying to tell you guys. That's it by God is never a good way to campaign. You've been sent by God to run the beer stand at the parish carnival. That's what God sends you to do. That is, that is absolutely correct. And I wouldn't, even though McCormick did not win and by the way, that was an incredibly close race. He's not going anywhere. I won't be shocked that this time next year we're talking about him kicking off his race to run against bob Casey. I agree. And that'll be a 2024 race and he'll have a shot at it and he'd have been the nominee if any of the other center right candidates had dropped out. And so I think they kind of burned some bridges. What do you think? McConnell didn't burn your brick. No, the other said Carla sans and others. And I like the ambassador sayings, but when you hang around with 7%, you don't help yourself. Yeah, herb, Cassie Barnett, Jeff bardos. These are people that very similar to the other people in the governor's race at Pennsylvania. You don't stick in when you have zero chance. You're just in there for a vanity project that at that point. Sunk cost people done it. And that's happening in Missouri. Everyone not named. I don't know who's the leader, but they ought to get together and draw straws if they're not Eric brightens and one of them come out because the Democrats are going to nominate crichtons and we're going to lose the seat. We being Republicans. I like talking to Selena because we usually agree..

"We have elections in an assortment of states including Pennsylvania and North Carolina Let's have a look at why they are being so closely watched and get over to the newsroom and join Bloomberg's Denise Pellegrini Well thank you rich That's right those two states are certainly key We're going to be talking about that also We have elections in Idaho Kentucky and Oregon And for some insight we have Mario Parker He is team leader for Bloomberg national politics at Bloomberg news Mario thank you for joining us We have former Bridgewater associate CEO David McCormick in Pennsylvania vying with that Trump endorsed celebrity physician Oz and of course the late surging Fox News commentator Kathy Barnett and others as the GOP candidate they were retires Why are we watching this race so closely What is so what really strikes you about this race Well the intrigue that she's just explained so well we have the names and Oz and McCormick We have a conservative firebrand and Cassie Barnett They're vine for an open Senate seat that's currently occupied by the retiring Republican pet Tell me And so Pennsylvania is a battleground state but Democrats think that they have a chance to take that seat and otherwise really bad environment for the party Just given some of the questions around some of these candidates Right but on the democratic side I think we have the front running candidate who had a stroke and there's some drama there too as well He's getting a pacemaker I think Yes this race has it all It's a very dramatic on both sides The lieutenant is the 6 foot 8 Jim shoe gym shorts wearing hoodie wearing lieutenant governor John fetterman is also he just suffered a stroke on Friday He's in the hospital right now He's recovering from the stroke But earlier this afternoon his campaign released a statement saying that he was getting routine procedure for a pacemaker implant which isn't very routine and begs questions about his health as we pivot towards the general election Right And something that might give election officials a stroke is a healthy headlines about the printing mistakes in Pennsylvania Bloomberg stories saying this could force selection officials to redo thousands of mailed ballots This is sort of traumatizing for some isn't it It is It is well this actually is something that's rather routine with elections We're all very jittery particularly when we look at Pennsylvania coming out of the 2020 We all remember how long it took for the ballots to be counted and then what ensued afterward in terms of former president Trump's false election claims in January 6th and all those things that continue to reverberate through our political landscape especially within the Republican Party Right And we also have just quickly the Pennsylvania governor's race as well down mastriano supported by Trump just very quickly what's happening there Yeah well we have a Trump candidate endorsed by Trump and another bunch of candidates who would have loved to get the former president's endorsement So it's a Trump versus Trump type of proxy election there And of course Doug mastriano as we just mentioned was among the most staunch supporters of former president Trump's false election claims All right Thank you Mario Parker Bloomberg national politics team leader with us here on Bloomberg daybreak Asia I'm Denise Pellegrini "Issue is whether it's energy or healthcare or drug prices or something I think if you try to stay focused on the facts that are in front of you and you value the importance of forward progress that naturally leads to some compromise So Conor lamb was something of a rising democratic star when he was elected in 2018 He doesn't see he seems to be struggling to get traction now What's going on there Mike Look I think Connor lamb had potential to be a star of Senate candidate a national star But quite frankly his campaign ran the wrong race He started off behind in the polls because John fetterman was a statewide elected official had much higher name ID statewide and they ran the race as if he was an incumbent And when you're down in a race you have to draw clear differences with your opponent who is leading And they just failed to do it Quite frankly they ran one of the most disappointing campaigns I've seen in a long time Wow David let's shift to the GOP center primary Kathy Barnett is seeing an 11th hour rise to the top of the polls She gave an interview to NBC's Dana bash burns in which she claims some of her anti Islamic tweets from several years ago were being taken out of context There's a bit of that You don't know what came after that You don't know if I was saying somebody else I mean this is kind of helia as a cornerstone of Islam Yeah nope I don't think that's me I would never have said that Now Barnett refused to let some media outlets including NPR into her campaign events as past weekend So Dave her worldview is regarded as extreme by some but does she have an edge in this primary It looks that way When you talk about the 11th hour rise I mean this is the time when you want to peak most and it appears that Cathy Barnett is peaking in this primary in a way that could to fruition I think when you analyze the race what you've seen is essentially mutually assured destruction between amendment Oz and Dave McCormick They both spent $30 million telling pennsylvanians why the other person was terrible and not realizing that there could be somebody kind of making a move in their wake and that seems to be Cassie Barnett We'll get to know more about it particularly if she is victorious on Tuesday But suffice to say she's running a great race so far Right Right And Mike what do you think I mean if you look ahead toward I mean again it's early but if she makes it if she gets the nomination what's your take on what Democrats are up against Well there are no guarantees in politics There's no guarantees in an election But I would take her as the nominee any day of the week over the others I think she would be alienating swing voters And I think you know like I said no guarantees in this business but it makes it much more likely that the Democrats can win in November I say so Dave you probably have a different view there Yeah I mean I think she's an amazing profile her Ascension to the top ranks of this race has been remarkable And again there's so much for us to learn yet but to look at are purely auto profile purely on the kind of campaign she's run So certainly going to be a formidable candidate should she be one going into the fall Particularly when there is a bit of Discord as we kind of touched on on the democratic side you've had the national democratic leaders rallying behind Congress congressman land and that seems to be not a fruitful bet right So now there's going to be some coalition building that needs to happen There's also a congressional race smack dab in Pittsburgh it's drawing some really particular lines on the democratic side So we'll see how that plays out you know post post Tuesday But there's going to be some kumbaya moment that needs on the democratic side I think a little bit more even than the Republican side Interesting A post primary Mike is that true Democrats need to do a little kumbaya It's absolutely not true This Senate race If you look at the democratic Senate race versus the Republican Senate race The Republican side has been a complete war where the democratic side has been relatively positive A few arguments here and there at debates but quite frankly overwhelmingly it's been positive campaigns by all three candidates So I think the Republicans I don't know how they put their pieces back together This is a puzzle that's literally got thrown onto the floor It's a mess It looks like Donald Trump's power in terms of issuing endorsements is waning The party is split This entire weekend was spent but with Republican leaders at the local level complaining about Donald Trump And that's terrible news for the Republican Party Well David let me ask you but wait Dave let me just I'm going to let you respond to that but I just want to put the question on the table because Barnett is using sort of trumpian political tactics but she was not endorsed by the former president in this race A mehmet Oz the celebrity TV doctor was So what does that mean for the party of Trump and specifically Trump's influence if Barnett wins this race Yeah I mean again Donald Trump will not be the final say as to who went to this country in the primary He has significant influence as his evidence by the endorsement studies made but I think what he has done more recently is kind of hedged his bets if you will He says you know while I'm endorsing amendment Oz I do think Cassie Barnett has a bright future So that kind of hedging does leave Republicans of space to support whomever's in their will and it looks like again from tracking going into the primary election The will is for Kathy Barnett So I don't know that that means as much But I think that we're getting a little bit out of ourselves when we're talking about some of the fault lines on the democratic side I mean you have a very contentious democratic primary between Steve Irwin and representative summer league Bernie Sanders was in town last week rallying the troops on behalf of summer league mayor gainey has endorsed some relief but the county executive has endorsed Steve Irwin So there's some fault lines that are going to have to be repaired Also transversing on the Senate side the number one.
