"Just drives them wild. This is a friend of ours. The only person we found to beat Matt Roberts basically. And you feel like I should be beating you. My game looks better than yours. Why aren't I winning? Yeah, I do think all these. The look on caspar rude's face was exactly that. Not that he was being disrespectful, but he just couldn't believe what brooksby was pulling off today. Yeah, he described him as annoyingly good, didn't he? In the press conference, I think that's what he said to him. And also, I just love how brooksby is like he annoys people. Absolutely. I think his grunting a noise people. I think things like what he did when he won the second set on a dead net cord and he didn't, he didn't apologize. And it sort of came back to something that happened earlier on in the year in Auckland where fanini was accusing him of not apologizing for the net cords. And he said something like, well, I was taught that net cords are nothing to do with luck. That's very funny. So it was funny how it sort of came full circle and it was brought up again today. But honestly, I quite like that he owns all of that. Absolutely. He leans into it. Netflix take note because, you know, one thing that the Netflix series showed up and Friends of the pod had been able to listen to our review show, there's a lot we like about it. But I do think tennis has a politeness problem and it needs more Jenson Brooks bees that aren't worried about their likeability. They want to win tennis matches. They have great respect. I think for their opponents and competition, but ultimately winning is what matters to them. And there they are. They are who they are. They own it. And I love it. Very quickly, Matt, can you summarize our collective exchange with Casper Ruud in the press conference afterwards? We ganged up on him a little bit, but it was important, I think. It was very interesting. We did. We slightly double teamed him on the talking point of the exhibitions that he played in the quote unquote off season against Rafael Nadal. It's a pretty, you know, you can't really ignore the fact that Nadal and Rudy are both out of the Australian open much earlier than they would have liked. And basically asked him whether he in hindsight regretted that and wouldn't do it again. You know, he would change up his schedule to prepare better for the Australian open. And in a very Casper Ruud way, he sort of talked himself through the answer, Catherine followed up with another question. And he basically said that, yes, he does think that that affected his preparation here. He had very few days to actually sort of practice and prepare and describe his factor. He described his off season playing an exhibition in Abu Dhabi. Yeah. I followed up and said, did you have an office? I said, I don't know exactly what that South American tour schedule was. Did you have an off season? Did you have a preseason training block? And he said he had a holiday in the Maldives, didn't he? Yeah. Priorities, obviously. And he said, yeah, and then on the way, and then he got into some nitty Gritty detail about his flight patterns. He said, and then I stopped off in Abu Dhabi on the way back because the flight connected through there or something. And I had three days hitting and then I played the battler open. That's just playing. That's just playing another exhibition. So you want to run an exhibition tool. You had a holiday in the Maldives and then you place a more exhibitions. Great. Okay. But as you said, he said, we'll look at it and won't necessarily do that in the future. I think in terms of his Australian open preparation, he was, I think, saying that it was a mistake. But I don't think he regrets doing it. I just think he needs to adjust as a player and maybe just be a bit more selfish and a bit more like a top player, to be honest. You know, he was kind of a good thing that he did, I suppose, taking tennis to those areas and being a big part of an important event for Rafael Nadal. You know, there were good aspects to it, but it wasn't helping him. And I think that's what he's realized there. We lost on gibbons from the women's draw the women's number two seed this evening. She lost out to marketo von droves of first ball of this match on rod laver arena played at 1124 p.m.. We said what we have to say about that. Struggling physically, very, very clearly, that knee injury, a massive factor in this, but also the fact that fundraiser is the worst possible player. I think, to play when you've got something like that going on, the way she maneuvers players around the court, the way you just have absolutely no idea what she's going to do next. She is an inexplicable tennis player. Absolutely, inexplicable. I mean, she should have won that match in two straightforward sets, and she did win that match in two straightforward sets. They were just sandwiched in between them, was a sort of set from a completely different match. Which was all about jabber fight, and absolutely incredible that jabot was able to get any kind of foothold in that much at all, let alone win a set because she was nowhere near fit and there was some harrowing images, footage of her in the corridor immediately after coming, of course. She sort of collapsed on her haunches hunched in a heap, it was really, really tough to see. I had a bit of a narrow escape there than Catherine because I was walking down the corridor. I have to walk down that walk of champions to get to our commentary box and I saw her coming towards me in the distance from the court. And we were only about 40 feet away from each other, and I took a quick left down the stairs, and otherwise she'd see me for the first thing she saw after coming off that court. She could do a lot worse. It might have been able to help you. You've seen me in worst moments, David. I just did see her and I thought, God, she looks crushed. And I was quick to get out of the way, because it must be horrible. I did find that reaction interesting. I thought maybe she'd be slightly more philosophical about it because of the injury. Maybe a resignation, but she's so desperate. It's the ambition, isn't it?

"Variety of the think he came to the net about 37 times, I think I heard against Medvedev one 30 at the point. He didn't come to the net anywhere near as much tonight, but he kind of didn't need to because he was winning from the back of the court. And it was, to me, it was two players playing pretty much their best tennis, but in completely different parts of the match because Rublev suddenly just took over. And that's the best I've ever seen in play. That he showed a level of conviction from the baseline that I haven't seen like that before where he just is able to take the player away from an opponent like since the pass. I didn't see that coming at all. And I agree with you about the resilience that Catherine rightly points out how hard I find him to watch when he starts smacking himself at the racket and all that sort of thing and I take the point that she doesn't think it comes from an unpleasant place attitude wise. It's an insecurity. It's a vulnerability. I just find it really difficult to watch wherever it comes from. But wow, he was good tonight. And I am just genuinely pleased for him because I share the thought that I think he's a nice lad, and I don't want bad things for him. I want him to do well. Having seen that, I can't say I always enjoy watching him, but I enjoyed watching him tonight. That was spectacular. And I don't think of rubbers spectacular and exciting that much. I find him relentless, but he showed another gear for a little while there tonight. Yeah, I completely agree, and as Catherine mentioned, he does have a good record against Casper Ruud, albeit, it's one of those head to heads where you kind of think, well, how much can we read into this? Because it's four one to Rublev, three of those wins are actually on clay. You know, he's actually dominated rude enclave, but those were before rude had really developed into the force that he is now. And they met at this tournament last year and it was Casper Ruud, who won 7 6 in the third. So I think we're in for another tight match there. I think they're very evenly matched, both playing well. So yeah, it will be interesting. From a Medvedev perspective, should we talk about him? I mean, a weird week because he's been very close to winning all three matches. I think he's the first person ever to lose three matches in the group, 7.6 in the third. And he served for two of those at 5 four in the third. I don't know, it's just obviously this being the final tournament of the year for him. It sort of makes me reflect on his year a bit. And you can probably be way too simplistic and just say that the Australian open final seemed to change everything. I just had a look at his record going into that final he'd won 20 of his last 25 matches against top ten players. He hasn't beaten the top ten player since. And I just feel like he's maybe at a stage now where for so long players were having to adapt to him because he was different. You know, he's a 6 foot 6 guy who's kind of a counter puncture. I've seen I've seen Gary Nathan a brilliant tennis writer describe him as a tangle of limbs, which I think is a very good description. And yet he's also really good at attacking and he was kind of deceptive. And I think players have struggled to figure him out a little bit. Well, Rublev's now won his last two against Medvedev sits a pass is now one is last two and you mentioned the way sits played against Medvedev this time coming forward using his variety. It feels like something's clipped a bit for sits a pass in how to play. Medvedev. So I think philippus is smart philippus helped him click because that felt very well thought through from a different set of eyes. So it's a pass, I think, is very stubborn and sows his dad, I think, and they just would tend to do the same thing over and over. And that had a clear difference to it. Absolutely. So it now feels like Medvedev needs to maybe adapt again to these players who are starting starting to figure him out. That's why we like rivalries because of the ebbs and flows that they can have and just how much how much you've got to draw on when you go into matches between these players. It's interesting. But then, of course, there have been lots of circumstances factors in Medford season, her new operation, being banned from Wimbledon, that speech he gave after the Australian open final that all perhaps paint a much broader picture and to help to explain his results. You know, he's still qualified for the yearend finals. It's by no means been a disaster. He got to world number one, but yeah, as we go into next year, it feels like Medvedev needs a little bit of a reset, and yet I say that. Didn't think he was anywhere near as best this week and he still could have won all three matches. He's looked out of sorts to me. He doesn't have the same conviction about him. And I think there's no way of knowing whether the events of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. And the subsequent action taken of Wimbledon banning Russian players and Belarusian players, and all that's come along with those stories, whether that's impacted him, just don't know, but it's certainly certainly a possibility. Elsewhere, just running through a couple of these plays. I mean, to be honest, I mean, I couldn't really watch the match with Djokovic Medvedev today. I just, it was brilliant tennis, but I had kind of had it on, but I just wasn't invested because it didn't mean anything to me. New Djokovic was through. It was interesting. There were some interesting elements to it. I do think Djokovic has looked sublime. I think Fritz Fritz is really interesting watch because he's so loose as Catherine was saying and quoting her dad about the Gestapo and comparison which physically I can really see that. They're so skinny and gangly. I can't see if Djokovic is fit and fresh enough tomorrow I can't seem Fritz really bothering him. I don't know what you think. I agree, but I do think that's quite a big if because Djokovic did not look good at the end of that match. The last hour today, he was, he was, you know, hunched over, he was just look really hot and bothered. It was like a scene out of 40° at the Australian open. He had his top off and he was sort of trying to gasp for air and I don't quite know how he wanted to be honest, you know, and perhaps perhaps that's a sign that he will be okay tomorrow against Fritz because he looked really bad today physically and yet he's still managed to beat Medvedev. But it was tough to imagine a less ideal match before the semifinal. You know, he's dragged into this one with Medvedev three hours, he suddenly got an escape route from this hellhole when he lost his serve at four all in the third and Medvedev was about to serve it out. And I thought, okay, well that's going to be it.

The S&P 500 gave back three tenths of a percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average off two tenths of a percent. We're not seeing a lot of action in equity futures contracts this morning Hanks and index futures are down little down about 8 tenths of a percent. China futures only down a quarter of 1%. Right now, if you look at Australia and futures flat, nikkei futures at 26,000 745 and that compares to a close of 26 8 71, so a little bit of downward pressure today, but the gains were so big last week that if you're only giving back just a tad, it may still be music to the ears of bulls, we'll have to wait and see right now we've got, we've still got a lot of momentum in Chinese shares and in Hong Kong with tech shares, the tech index, up 4.7% yesterday, Alibaba rallied 3.7% and JD.com was up 6 and a quarter percent and although it wasn't too much action in the NASDAQ golden dragon index overnight, you'd have some individual shares of prominently companies like Baidu and JD.com. Right now the dollar is a little bit weaker and no trading in treasury at the moment, the last deal on the ten year 3.19%. And that's a check of markets. Headline news with Ed Baxter in San Francisco. All right, Brian, thank you NATO is set to label China's systemic challenge in a strategic plan. In San Francisco, I met Baxter this is Bloomberg, Rashad. Okay, getting back to guest Lorraine time, director of equity research at Morningstar getting her market taken. Lorraine, thanks for sticking around to give us a sense of, as we move into the second half, you know, will it be better for Asia? And what are you looking at in a more specific company, which companies you look at in particular? Yeah, I think first and foremost, because we do expect the worst of the China lockdowns to have been seen the second quarter, but obviously the issues is that it's still a bit choppy coming out of that over the next few months, but having said that, I think that's really a little bit of a bounce and that's being reflected currently in some recovery in the China issues. So to be to be selective, we're more keen on, as I mentioned, companies with economic modes. So we do have a few wide note rated companies that we particularly like because they're trading around half of their fair values submitted at the moment. So that includes names like TSMC, yum, China, and Tencent to name the street that are around half of their values set them off survey estimates for the next moment. So when you step back from China and look at the region more broadly, we're waiting for the retail sales figures for South Korea today. How do you view the region? Is everything that is developing on a positive note in China is that kind of having permutations outside of the country and to other regions? I think to some extent what we expect to see, let's say, if you've got a U.S. slowdown in 2023 in terms of growth, that's starting to happen. But you've got hopefully China coming up about its lockdowns and 2023, which we hope will act as a buffer to some of the other Asian countries activity levels. As you know, a lot of the growth is being was previously propelled by China demand. Obviously, with the rest of the world swing down, you're not probably not going to see China grow at such a strong pace. But it will be better than this year, let's say. So I think that would be a bit of a buffer. We just have interest rates coming up and some of the countries. But overall, I think that we're looking at general still sort of largely sort of activity levels stabilizing, probably not at this pace that we saw the past year with the coming out of lockdowns. But generally coming down to a more normalized activity level. All right, so it gives some names you like, possibly if you're comfortable doing that. It gives a sense of how you see how you look at this market as a stock picker. And you know how important is credit quality to you? Yeah. So I think the defensive issues have definitely up formed the past 6 months. We still think there's room in portfolios for them. So we're talking about dividend yielding companies. The two that we like there are companies like cheung Kong infrastructure holdings, TKI holdings, ST engineering in Singapore. A very stable capital flows, I mean, dividend flows and we expect STE to also benefit from a recovery and air travel, given that they do a lot of maintenance work for airlines. The other go ahead, I'm sorry to interrupt, continue. Yeah. But in terms of where we're seeing the biggest discount is in the sectors that I mentioned that were over so basically consumer discussion like the ecommerce name set happened rebounding recently. Tencent's obviously got some overhang with some share sales ongoing, but we think weakness there is an opportunity to pick up. And again, we still like to use them to seek for its ability to what we think could support its margins going forward as well. So very quickly in about 30 seconds, when you mentioned margins there and I'm wondering, given the fact that we may continue to see a little bit of margin pressure at least in the near term, are there areas of the market that you are avoiding at all cost? Okay, so obviously where we see where there's less value, for example, so we've got companies that maybe a staple space that will gradually be able to pass that on, but they're still going to be a little bit of pressure. There's we think that some of the consumer consumer electronics related areas are going to face both top line and potentially margin pressure as well as global

"But yeah, I mean, was this where we crazy to think Alcatraz was the favorite to make it out of this quarter? It came close. Yeah. I mean, I think it's fun that he was a favorite. I think that's not, you know, he also beats where even though obviously it's where I was comparing about scheduling. He beats her up, you know, in the last image. I do think the way people were just writing him in and the way even in some of the in the press conferences people would be like, so what's it going to be like for a nova? And was like, well, first of all, you know, he was like, well, I only have to face one of them. But yeah, it was a bit much. And I mean, the whole thing with the him playing the night matches and, you know, we barely even had a chance to properly speak with him because he didn't do tournament PRES and then he would just be finishing past his bedtime and doing like a few questions and makes sense. So there was that. And yeah, I think in the end, it's where I've absolutely loved it being in that position where in the past he was the guy who was hyped as the next big thing and, you know, everyone kind of putting their attention elsewhere. He wanted, he had something to prove. He had, well, he always has a chip on his shoulder. But the size of a planet. So he and yeah, he went in there, to be honest, I was like, that comfortably, in my opinion, the best way to imagine he's been in his life and he played really well against agarose I thought. Yeah. Yeah. And alcaraz was kind of off, you know, he spectacular, but a lot of what he does is crazy and high risk and, you know, when it's off, it's off, and he kind of poured himself back together in the end of the match, but then kind of held on and they're called bad misses railcars and that four set high break too. But I will say that, you know, he's 19 years old and he just made the work that he's 18 years old. 19 now. 19, sorry. Yeah. Long two weeks. He's 19 years old and he just made the court finals of the French Open. That's a good thing. He had a good tournament and he'll be able to build on that and learn and he backs himself and I think it's just another step in Carlos alcohol as well. So we get that nice Sessions. I'm going to talk about them in a second. I want to talk about one specific one first. Just briefly. A whole guru runa play against Casper Ruud in a Nordic night session battle of young Vikings, which was not to say which had a supposedly had a feel good factor to initially, you know, two scandinavians. Yeah. That's how it was built. These two boys from these countries with not the most spicy food delivered the spiciest match of the tournament. At least afterwards, runa is someone who has a big personality. I will say, and a lot of confidence and presence out there, he sits upon this tournament, which was really the first big surprise actually that he beats it to pass, and his father was a big fan to make the final on the bottom half and that really did kind of open things up. But yeah, what do you make of that match and there was this whole anyway, say it basically. So we're kind of demonstrative in being himself a lot during the match. The handshake afterwards and rude shakes his head disapprovingly afterwards and then says that after the match that Casper screamed. In his face and rue denies this and it's a whole back and forth thing and it's just, yeah. The parents going forward. The parent you're weighing in. Talk about needing rivalry. It's like ew, I think it's kind of fun to have a little Norway Denmark beef Swedish meatball between them. Yeah. Just for our. It was not entirely expected. And I was just like, I think Courtney actually mentioned this, just low stay strong. It's been a lot of trauma in tennis. There's been deportations and also, of course, there's something that was just completely wars. Was Chinese government, but this was low stakes. Exactly. And so it was enjoyable to kind of just chocolate that something silly and then just move on. I'd say like in terms of. I enjoy it like it's run. Yeah and another 19 year old in the course and the drop shots that creativity, the you know, he was playing like, you know, he's not nearly as spectacular as our crest. But he's kind of enjoyable player in his own way. Yeah. But and that's a big cabbage but with a capital letters here. The drama, man, this guy just brings everywhere he goes. I've never seen a player just in such short amount of time. So he played his 50th tormach during the tournament. And it's every other tournament, there's something going on, whether it's, you know, him shouting homophobic slurs or him. That did happen a couple years ago. That did happen. Last year. I think a challenge when he retired from a match because of some issue he had what he, I don't know. That's just drama. Everywhere. And I don't know. Particularly in this situation, I wasn't in the locker room. I don't know. I don't know, but when you put ruin and rude together and who is the people going to believe? It's quite clear cut there. And the drama is going to clearly be a source of entertainment, but also it's a lot in it. Okay, obviously don't support the homophobic mercy made last year. We've directed it myself. He was shouting for homophobic slurs at himself. Which is unusual. And then he apologized for it somewhat not ideally. And his mom weighed in too. Yeah. Anyway, that part aside, and I feel free to not put that aside if you want. But he has addressed that and that was when he still young and still bizarre behavior. Such a consistent generation just it's not homophobic relative to older ones, such as a weird thing to have happen. It should be noted just like he's older than Goku golf. Oh, that's true. Now that is true, we have nowhere near the material to cook up off of the inspiration to say. But he is like amusingly extra. I will say, and one of my favorite things about his presence is on his Twitter is this recent heaven he's developed on his tweets of putting siren emojis before his tweets to announce he had won that he did what he made the quarter finals or semi filings of Munich..

"I thought Dominic team looked all right. In his first match, back since injury, given how much time he's been off court, he's got Benjamin bonzi in the first round and then could potentially face semi quarters, so yeah, I'm sort of curious to see how he gets on as well. And yeah, in Munich, yeah, I think Casper Ruud, I quite like Casper Ruud. It might be looking at this as an opportunity for him to win his first tour title this season. Dan Evans is there. I mean, Dan Evans had a not great start to clay season's got Maxine Crecy in the first round. So yeah, I'm sort of thinking rude, yeah, rude baby in Munich and yeah, I think maybe David David for kina, I think he'll just ride that energy that momentum from Monte Carlo and see where it takes him potentially to another title. Yeah, for sure. I think he's the one I'm intrigued by the most from Estoril and I mean, as for me, you know, yeah, see what Dan Evans can get up there. He's there. Is he still going? Is he still is there in a wall around? He's got Daniel out myer in the first round. And I see there's another German wild card. See, well, they're obviously giving their wild cards to a cause. I've actually been to both of these tournaments. I remember when I went to Munich, it was absolutely freezing cold. My toes were like ice. So I hope they have better weather this week. "Kim today is the 4th of April and we are here to take a look back on all the finals action from the Miami open at passing shot headquarters. We've had a fun action packed couple of days in Miami. We've got our men's champion and our ladies champion eager field tech and Carlos alcaraz and it's been a pretty good I think pretty good tournament. I think there was a worry going in, particularly I think on the men's side, there was no Novak Djokovic, no Rafa Nadal, obviously no Roger Federer, and it really was left to the young guns. And I feel like they've properly stepped up with alcaraz and rude getting to the final and then of course all the women's side, igas fion tech. Yes, we had all the news about ash Barty retiring, eager to be on tech becoming the world number one. And she is just, she is just going on and on and on, streak wins aplenty, beating a soccer in the final. I think this tournament really has on the face of it. Some people might have said lacked star power, star quality, maybe at the start of the tournament, but by the end of it, I think I'm looking back on this tournament as a real shot in the arm for the ATP and WTA tennis tours. Yeah, they're both fantastic winners. I think very much deserved and real positive kind of feel good news stories. But most importantly, Joel, they're both winners that I predicted. So I should have really you have said this to me. I've been taking a tally of how many times you've mentioned to this to me. This is like the 11th time. I think you'll say you are savoring this moment, aren't you? It doesn't happen very often, that I think both winners. So I think I wish I'd put money on it. I could have, you know, I had a fortune, although I mean, I'm sure everyone predicted on tech and I think alkalis would have been up there as well. So I can't be too smart, really. But yeah, really good news stories. Actually, Joel, that was some interesting news stories that came out last week on the 1st of April. That I was taken aback by at first. And then I quickly realized that it was April Fool's day. And I was watching one in particular story on Twitter from the U.S. open where they advertise that they would be starting to have midnight Sessions this year. And I thought, blimey, you know, that's not exactly beyond the realms of possibility. It's something that I can actually see like the USTA doing purely to make more money. And we know we see a lot of these sort of night matches starting at midnight anyway, so I thought, oh, is that actually a thing? And then thankfully, it's not. Kim, I honestly thought it was already a thing, given some of the late finishes we've had in flashy meadow. Yeah, I know there was so many little April fools jokes going on and I was trying to decipher, is that real? Is that not real? The biggest one for me, honestly, was Francesco's cerin dolo getting to the semifinals of the Miami open. I thought that was the biggest April fools joke going around on tennis Twitter, but actually it turned out to be a reality. Yeah, I think you were pinching yourself thinking blimey, like he's got to the semifinals, but yeah, full credit there. He had a fantastic like ten days or so. Yeah, just lost to rude in that semi fairly comfortably. But to be fair, he did make use of sinner retiring in the quarterfinal, but full credit to sarandon. I'm sure he was glad to preview somewhat wrong by getting to that stage. Massive egg on massive egg on face moment for me. Yeah, very good, very, very good week for him. Very good week for a lot of fringe players, I'd say, or players, not necessarily at the top of the rankings, making really good inroads, getting decent and healthy rankings points. And yeah, I mean, let's start with the men's singles. I feel like that's the only place we could start. Carlos alcaraz, Casper Ruud in the final with Carlos alcaraz winning in straight sets, 7 5 6 four. I mean, Kim, Carlos alcaraz, what more could we say about him? He is the youngest ATP Miami winner in history. He's the third youngest masters 1000 winners since 1990 and he's also the first Spanish man to win in Miami as well. So he is on a very much on an upwards trajectory, surprise, surprise. He's not in the top ten just yet. His new world ranking is number 11, but I mean, given the form he's shown this year, he's 18 and two at the moment. You know, he's only had two losses, I think, to be a teeny at the Australian open and then to rapha last week in Indian Wells. I mean, he is just, he is just announced himself, I feel with this tournament. I think we've seen, we've seen what he can do, but it's not necessarily been all the way through the tournament and given the significance of this tournament, the fact that it's a masters 1000 coupled. I think certainly with how young he is, it's just, I think it's just caught everyone's attention and you could see that in the crowd I think on Sunday and that match against Casper Ruud. Yeah, I mean, he's done something that even rapha hasn't done, which is to win Miami. I was surprised by that actually. I didn't realize that Rafa hadn't won Miami. He's got to a few finals, but always come up second best and unfortunately. So yeah, it's one of the only masters really that he hasn't won. But he's won Indian Wells a few times. So hey Ho. It's very difficult. To do so well, you know, across both of these tournaments and obviously Carlos got to the semifinals in Indian Wells, lost to Rafa, as you said, only his second loss of the year and he's come up strong in Miami was didn't get off to the best of starts in the final against caspar Eugene went down three love wasn't really playing his best. Nervous. Yeah, definitely. The occasion I feel got to him at that start and I think that was understandable. You know, alka's and rude both in their first ever masters 1000 finals and I think for our careers, I've certainly given the manner of his victories through the week. It just, I think, maybe had a little bit more expectation on him. You know, he obviously hurt her cash in the semifinal. And then also, you know, manovich, and he also beats Sisyphus in the quarterfinals as well. So he had some really, really, really good wins and to come through to the final. He would have obviously wanted to start a lot better than he did. I mean, just kind of watching it on TV. It felt like he was snatching his shots, particularly his forehand and rude didn't really have to do a lot. I don't think. You just, you know, showing off his forehand, hitting quite a good, good pace, solid enough from the back of the court, and he just went three love up in a flash, but to credit to alkanes. And I think this is what is so exciting about him is that even though he was down, he just sort of reeled his opponent in and he did take that time to kind of find his find his range, but once he did, Casper Ruud really didn't have an answer to it. Yeah, and I think if you have confidence in your abilities, even if you got off to a slightly shaky start, you know, you have got that kind of strength to know, oh, you know, let's give it time. I can I know I can play better and settle into this. He didn't panic and Casper rude ultimately couldn't maintain his level whilst Carlos got better and better and better. As the match went on and full credit deserved the victory had been pretty solid throughout the whole tournament and coming through..

"At a masters event. Like who would have potentially would have picked that out? Well, them and Pedro Martinez doing really well on a hardcore. One Manuel lost to France's TFO. So only Francisco has made it through, but perhaps he'll go on a well, he came through a palka actually, but I know a perk of retired, but perhaps he'll continue his pursuit, he came through him on feast in straight sets. So yeah, good on him. I think TFO maybe goes in a little bit as a favorite. I think given his experience, I think particularly on hard courts and I think the way tiafoe finished last season, I don't think he necessarily started it like that this season, but it certainly seems that he's rediscovered some form. But yeah, the fact that Francisco and dolo has got to round four suggest that maybe he's not just a player for the golden swing. Maybe he is he can ply his trade on the hard courts as well on the at an ATP level. Elsewhere Kim, I wanted to talk about Casper Ruud Alexander bublik because in their match, the match was a bit of a non event to be honest, but it will always, I think forever be remembered as the match, Alexander bublik, I don't know if you saw this. I don't know if any of our lists saw this. Casper Ruud went up for a lob. It landed like mid core and Alexander public, I think he was, you know, he was he was very much down in the match and he felt like he was going to lose it. He turned his racket 180° and played a smash with the butt of his racket. He played it with the handle and he ended up doing like this handle smash drop shot, which rude did get to, but he then set him up to win the point on the smash. And I had never, it has happened before, Cedric purely and apparently did it ages ages and ages ago. But I had never seen this before. And I absolutely loved it. And I feel rude, rude, I think, loved it as well. I think he gave him a little fist bump during the match, and he said, he said at the end, to public, at least you have two or three hot shots. You will be on tennis TV like always. And I like to think Alexander bublik here is he's in the Gael Monfils way of tennis in the sense that he is playing really, really well. But he's also got the fans in mind and he wants to, he wants to throw out a few hot shots and in his, I think in his head, success on a tennis court, if it is in his head, how many hot shots I can provide to tennis TV. I think we're all in a very good place. Yeah, I mean, same issue, I hadn't seen that particular maneuver before. Very impressive. You've got to do what you got to do sometimes, but yeah, that will certainly go on the highlights real for quite some time. So if you haven't already seen it listeners, then depo check that one out. Yeah, all thanks to bublik for providing that entertainment. And finally, Kim, we also had Jack Draper from British interest, get to round two, yes, cam nori came through that in quite a competitive two sets, but yeah, I think pretty pretty good sharing from Jack Draper on wild card, beat Gilles Simon in straight set 7 6 6 one. He's sort of playing his trade, I feel at the moment on the challenger tour, just sort of like there under the surface waiting, waiting for his moment. I feel like what I saw against Seymour and to be honest, what I saw against nori. I feel like his moments coming. I feel like he can, you know, he's getting his ranking up now. I think he can start to look at, I think, certainly qualifying for two 50s, trying to get into those main drawers. I certainly think now's potentially the opportunity coming up for him to step up, I think, to the, to the top level. And I'm hoping that match against nori gave him the confidence and the realization that he is ready for that. Yes, they played played each other last year, I think in the quarterfinals. At queens, but the fact that this was at a masters 1000 event getting his first masters 1000 win under his belt, I certainly think that his time should be coming soon, I think. Yeah, he's been really good this year on the challenge tour winning three titles. So I think a nice reward is sort of that win, you know, this week in Miami getting to play norrie on a bigger stage than when they met at queens and just more experience. And definitely a better experience than his last Miami event when he had to retire that heat and dizziness and collapsing. So yeah, good stuff from Draper and let's hope he can see continue going up up in the rankings. I mean, one Brit who is going to be at the very top of the rankings next week, Joel is Joe Salisbury, who from the 4th of April next Monday is going to be the British well, sorry, he's going to be the world number one and also the British number one funnily enough in the trouble was men's doubles, this is brilliant news. It's very well deserved. You know, Salisbury has been at the top of the doubles game for good few years now and to be at the very top position I think is just rewards for all the hard work he's been putting in. He will replace mate pavic him and met haven't been doing so well of late. So obviously gone down in the ranking points, but yeah, fantastic for Joe really pleased for him and only the third British world number one. I think after obviously both Murray brothers. So really fantastic. Yeah, it's an amazing achievement. I actually think it's gone under the radar a little bit. Unfortunately, given other big news in the tennis world going on, I feel like at the same time, but certainly I think this is an opportunity. I know we talk about emirati Carney in the UK as like the next big British hope that could galvanize galvanize tennis, but I think we've got to remember that there are other individuals out there at the moment, obviously Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, cam nori. And I think we've got to make certainly we want to make the most of Joe Salisbury becoming another world number one in doubles, doubles is a massive part of the game, particularly in terms of participation, social tennis as well. And yeah, really great to see here, I think, you know, rise to the top of the rankings. And it's really interesting to read some of his comments about his journey up to doubles number one because, you know, he played, he did the college system, played tennis for university in America, came back to the UK, was playing, I think, at the roehampton club opposite the national tennis center in roehampton. And I think he had this realization that he wasn't one of the top players with top prospects and he reached a point even quite early on. I think he was talking about futures level, where he said, you know, sometimes when I was playing futures level, I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep going. Playing challenges, I still wasn't earning any money. Fortunately, I had really supportive parents who really believed in me and saw some of the potential. So we're really interesting to hear his story about how he started playing singles and just kind of got to a realization that he wasn't good enough. It was disappointing, I think, to hear his comments, things I feel like we already know about the challenger circuit in terms of how little money you do make and how that could potentially stop someone playing all together, but I'm glad that he found another route. In terms of doubles and he found a partner like Rajeev ram, who was as motivated as him, they've formed a really great partnership, you know, three and a half years ago now, I think, and yeah, it's.

What happens <Speech_Male> during puberty. <Speech_Male> How this <Speech_Male> affects. <Speech_Male> The different would <Speech_Male> panic how <Speech_Male> that by mechanics. <Speech_Male> For <Speech_Male> instance. one. <Speech_Music_Male> Easy example <Speech_Music_Male> is is <Speech_Music_Male> a lot of people have <Speech_Music_Male> knee issues <Speech_Music_Male> a <Speech_Music_Male> time because <Speech_Male> they're <Speech_Male> lice get longer <Speech_Music_Male> stayed longer <Speech_Music_Male> lavar <Speech_Male> Longer <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> generate more power. <Speech_Music_Male> But they don't have the <Speech_Music_Male> muscle to support <Speech_Male> and also <Speech_Male> they don't generate <Speech_Male> for instance from the hip. <Speech_Music_Male> This must because his <Speech_Music_Male> thought developed <Speech_Music_Male> like libraries <Speech_Music_Male> belt so <Speech_Music_Male> just to perform <Speech_Music_Male> better. They oversee <Speech_Music_Male> The <Speech_Music_Male> roads and they <Speech_Music_Male> get slaughters or <Speech_Male> jumpers needs <Silence> federal. So <Speech_Male> for <Speech_Male> someone <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> like me. Straight <Speech_Music_Male> nicotine district goals <Speech_Music_Male> physical therapist. <Speech_Male> The therapist <Speech_Male> something that <Speech_Music_Male> can work on <Speech_Music_Male> the <Speech_Male> weak <Speech_Male> links on their bodies <Speech_Male> make <Speech_Male> sure that <Speech_Male> overloads <Speech_Male> the <Speech_Male> strikes like <Speech_Music_Male> safe <Speech_Male> generate our through me <Speech_Male> because kids <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> get you know <Speech_Male> form <Speech_Male> wanna win. Wanna <Speech_Male> get there. <Speech_Male> So i don't care <Speech_Music_Male> how

"Were do now. Obviously but the Scott working to his father a former tennis Christina road he. He had a problem with shoulder at at the council. Stop his Career a little too early probably like four five years compared to Federal maybe the news and the understood because he has so many problems fiscally. He will strong but he he. He could have been halloween new things now. Not just everyone would have. That would help them a great deal and youngster early but it would be for passport to to have something setup. Good for From from an early age so that you would go through especially if the kind loss that he Face and then the puberty faces that a lot of people get injured on the also like three or four months of training so luckily we much escaped. All injuries. still knock on wood. Yes not any any big injury subtle. It is had some some over years at the ball. Laurent got a little at the risk. He had some smaller issues. Share their some some overuse Issues but no real real interest. That would come back for a month or more so so not. I can't think of any tom wrote. Rick could train someplace week trained. Alternatively would be honest but the but never situation could train so.

"Open our guest. This week cast peru. He is twenty two doesn't turn twenty-three until the we christmas he's already the best region player in history. He's a lovely guy. He is rising the ranks. He's sort of a man without a country norway notwithstanding he's a smidge too old for the felix. Oj all seem yada center cohort. He's too young. For the vera. Rubin medvedev cohort But he's a fine player who has had his ranking over the past twelve months or so. This is a fun conversation about norway He sells us on Going to norway. Maybe even living norway. I talked about tennyson covid gives us some thoughts on the big three. He has a special affection for an adult Having trained at the national academy in my phone conversation I enjoyed this. I trust you will as well. Here from acapulco on a day off is casper route. How're you doing. How's your i thought. Your first visit to acapulco it scared it's nice place. It's really hot here so It's a bit of a challenge. I think for especially for me being from norway. But it's a. I've gotten used to it than the and i And i enjoy now. I wanna ask you about nor we can. We can talk tennis in a second but you. Norway sells more electric cars per capita than the us. I you see that commercial real farrell. I didn't know the. Yeah that summarily area Couple of weeks ago. But i know they norway's of big electric car country We have like no taxes or anything on the electric car. So so it's I imagine that it's a bigger than i heard. California norway are like the two biggest places for the electric carts. I feel like. I don't know if sense that coming from there i feel like norway's having a bit of a moment it's become a very very trendy country lately i don't know if you feel maybe i don't know it's not like a very big country. We're not too many people but I feel like most of the americans they've heard about. You know denmark and sweden but not so much norway but Hopefully the next year squeak in Show up show up on the map. A little bit more but Keep keep going what. What should people know about norway. Sorry how do you describe it. What what should. I think you're right. People say oh scandinavia. I've been to copenhagen and i love stockholm what. What should people know about norway. i think that norway's best country gonna navia out of the three No but it's a very nice and calm place Like i said we're not many to many people were only five million or so so It's it's a well working country i would say and we have all four seasons. We have a beautiful summer In oh i think many people refer to or when they think about norway they either. You don't see snow or they see like the beautiful mountains and the fjords that we have Like the scenery there and some cruel mountains. We have where you can kind of be on the edge of Very steep Steep fall so we have some kind of places in knock monuments but like a bucket list places to go. I think if you're wasting norway And yeah like. I said it's i like being from country. The has four seasons Even though you know winters are cold and it's It's can be challenging times for me traveling but Other than that. You know we were. I think we're nice group of people and the welcoming we. We are We're we're happy to for anyone to come into the country invasive and stay as long as they want so i mean it's I think we're a good the good people. Oh you're great ambassador told me what. What's the tennessee like norway. Yeah it's It's not very big tennis. Contrary you know as as you probably could could guess it's it's mostly like what we do like six months of the indoors in six months of the year or so. I mean it's like fifty fifty splits and but but the problem is kind of the tennis culture you know like other countries in europe. Let's say germany or italy or or these places you can have a you have a you have a club and you have a nice restaurant where you can hang out later and have some lunch or even dinner and it's like a more like a hang out place than just a tennis club but while norway we don't really have any Clubs that work like you know where you have a nice restaurant maybe own biological family or something like this were were you know. People would play in our to hang out in the in the restaurants for a couple of our so. I think that's what we're missing a little bit in. Norway become like a big fan. This country Because yeah like. I said that. That's the big thing in. I know like italy. France spain germany a vices with cities. That aren't the biggest but they have like big tennis clubs. Have a they have a restaurant. They have a morsel or it's more like a complete package. So that's the only thing i would say that. That is missing when it comes to gloves in iran. Of course we would like to have some more clubs around the country especially in oslo. Where where. I'm from There are you know lack of course these days so so it's it's it's growing. I would say that the tennyson and more and more people are getting into. I'm thinking the best player in the history of norway. Should go home or a club like that. Yeah hopefully one day only twenty two. I tell me about an adult. I mean yeah you and i met there before. Covert which seems like a different world. Well let me ask you to you. I feel like the rest of the world. There's a sense. Things are snapping. Back in restaurants are starting to open. And they'll you know they'll be some crowds in miami. What what's the sense about cove in the locker room on you guys mean where. Where are you with all. This is getting the vaccine. What's kind of the covid status while no one is getting the vaccine But i think you know majority of place are bit worried. You know these days to travel around too much. there's a risk everywhere we go Obviously we have restrictions at all tournaments. We live in the bubble retirement. Play so i mean. That's that's good but it still like you know you go through airports And there's always a risk wherever you go and there's a risk to be know test positive at a tournament and then be locked up for fourteen days. That's like the biggest fear for the players. I think so. I think it's mixed feelings like some some players you know are very very either trade. They're scared or received too much. You know you've had gylfi on recently announced he stay out of the tour for some time until you feel.
