"Some kind of thing and we did. All this and granted had a job at the time. But i wanted to explore this option. So i did that. They got back to me and said i missed it by like one person. They only take so many people. So i was kind of bitter with the union leader allies. Upset yeah navigator. Didn't take they didn't want me for whatever. And then a not long after the call me back someone either dropped out or whatever and i got in so i was pleased. I was dismounted around. I was happy and in nancy. And i would. Just start date at the time when this all happened in so i got into the apprenticeship program a five year program california and who's well-structured two nights a week we'd go three hours two nights a week and then on the job he'd work I first jobs at a power plant. Oh yeah that's not rope attract. You'll pay was quite a change levels. Kanye power plant in southern california. Whoa you know huge turbines in. I mean like you said a learned. That's how i learned to burn ridge benbridge thread pipe. All these things is a dumb question but like what type of day to day. Work is at power plant. That's running. well we were working on the expansion of the of the power plant at the time. Okay soling new capacity or something. Yeah correct yeah. They were adding on so i. I wasn't exposed to that part of it. I see but on this part you know. We shopped everyday like every job in would threat pipe for sometimes weeks. Wow know that's how. I learned to the thread rigid and since that threat like the way plumbing. Pipe is threaded. I it's big enough that the pipe itself has threads cut to is at all the way from half inch up to six inch. We were with big threading machines slapping. Yeah in they're right. Depending on sale run up to two inch would use the certain type better than we get into the vibe and six inch five which did rarely at least me. That's like a crane to lift those things something. It was quite proud. And there's like conductors inside of those pipes at a power plant. That was running. Yeah holy stalled. Correct league got stalled. And then pulling in maybe five hundred. Casey mill copper. You know it's or seven fifty. It's like this big around so that was pretty exciting. There's a whole new world to me like small small but residential work just big scale in other words you like fish it through there with something and just machines doing it. There's different ways. We lot of times you suck lines in like long runs in. This is the first time i did that. Tuna bloom on line. Three or four hundred feet run no matter the size of pipe. They would have vacuum or industrial sites vacuum on one end. Yeah two ways to do it. That was one way you'd suck mouse in. Its looks like a sponge spongy material. it's the size of the car. Do in piston piston. We call it a mouse in a trade in. They'd sucked out through with the line on it. Such a through. And then you get that then you pull attach a bigger up to that. 'cause it's only a small jet ran pull in pulling a bigger depending on the side. You're going to be doing like how many hundreds of feet we've three four hundred feet away it. Yeah it's for the big long runs in a couple hundred foot runs into this. Days is hasn't changed in the trade. I mean we still but one thing i learned on this one of the projects house on down there is they would blow in a line and they have this deal. It and i don't know the terminology because it's been thirty years since i've done years but it fits over the pipe in a rubber piece. The clothes off the gaps as little horn in its compressed air in they have this little thing that looks like a lipstick size deal and it's real fine line in instantly shoot that thing and it soon as they shoot it comes flying out of the other end. That's another story. Yeah and so it it shoots out and then you pull a string so i've done it both ways. That was only time in my life that we use out on a big commercial project every other time it's sucking sucking a mouse and then eventually whatever rope you get in there it can pull three hundred feet of that whatever inch and a half copper line through as a a winch pulling through or tug her in the that's used for the bigger ones like it that way because you're all that wait a seattle. It's one thing to get into the pipe. Start pulling its dragon. Yeah you're calling copper wire per foot big wire you know and friction. Same rule you can make through to ninety s like that or no nineties on ninety nine nineties a ease up to up to four four ninety. That's that's the maximum or co and also physics. Yeah because much friction. All of a sudden you're gonna get yourself. Yeah up to four. We try to limit it but We've done up sometimes. You just can't avoid it with offsets you do to forty five and three ninety three but pulling those but the tiger and i learned it a lot on these big job to california for as far as industrial work which you bring up a good point. How do you pull that in. And do some of the shorter runs with not a big a wiry. Just get a couple of guys on it couple apprentices or journeymen whatever and you put a couple of guys on the other and feeding push it the s so that's a big thing if not they're not push on the other end and you're you're just pulling yeah. There's a lot of yelling going on and you can hear it through those condo. It's just another thing on john. Four five hundred feet away. You know yelling the pipe ready and like were sitting right here. Yeah ready and you can hear each other. That is amazing it cool. It is also known. You're on a job. And he got kind of do that on the pipe at the other guy and that is so obvious. but you. unless you've been there. I wouldn't have thought of it in. That's how we communicate before the pool. Yeah you yell back and forth the bike and you soap the line yet. Soap it in with the. Yeah the wire loop yellow seventy seven or whatever it is but so yup yup luebbe up and they have Wire pull and grips. And they're like the best way explained like the handcuffs. Were you put them on. They pulling each other. It's a wire mesh and you can either. They make them for all sizes wire in you. Push them down to get him to expand in you. Tape all your wires up. And you stagger them so you don't have a big blunt head big wires push it in the stock. It's called a sock. it's at least in the trade. Give me a shock what it is of skyhook yet looking around for that for longtime push it in and then it expands out and then you take that up in that that wire and is the worst thing ever offer something breaking that is. It's happened to me. It is the worst no matter. What size wired. wow. I'm back sort of career and before answer this and then keep on your story but did you ever have to turn any massive breakers inside this power plant. I watched video not long ago of some guys. I don't know where but they had to wear this full metal suit in he was lifting. These breakers..

Three thirty years five hundred three hours southern california ninety s three hundred feet half inch nineties four hundred feet Four california three five two nights a week forty five six inch both ways Kanye power plant hundreds of feet

"More additional pro year required. So Casey, Middle stat. Does not have arbitration rights after this season when he goes to sign this contract for me. Would be looking to sign Casey Middle Stat for a three year deal. He's 22 years old. Right now he's going to be 23 years old when it comes, you know. When he turns 23 in November. So you're looking at signing him to a two year deal, which you would have one more year of restricted free agency. Or you're gonna be signing to a three year deal, which would take him right toe unrestricted free agency. Because the six years that he played with the enemy with the Sabre's coming out of college actually counts towards unrestricted free agency. It doesn't count towards salary arbitration. That's where it gets a little confusing, but, yeah, you're right. Yeah, definitely burned a year, didn't it? I think that was that was part of the incentive for him to come out of college, but it did not burn a year. Counting towards salary arbitration because, according to Katherine Lee, as we say, is first full season was 2018 19, where you played 77 games in 1920 plates. 67 this year played 41. So those are the three years that count towards salary arbitration, But he's already acquired four years towards the seven for Unrestricted free, which is more favorable to the player anyway. There's a lot of players don't end up going to arbitration anyway. You guys agree? You guys agree that you're gonna be signing Casey Middle Stat to a two or three year deal. I'd say it's a two year deal. That's the negative for me two year deal, So he's not gonna be able to go to arbitration after next year and get a big number. Sign him to a two year deal. You give him stability you say Listen, we like what you did to be here for. What is that number? 1.61 point 65. Probably somewhere around there. I would. I would assume yes. What stage getting pages on a three year deal for 1.4 a year. I would think, Casey. Middle status you're gonna be looking at 1.6 for what he has accomplished on a two year deal. Summer. Could, uh, unders Bjork is at 1.6. And he had 19 points in 58 games. Uh, any so you're you're thinking I'm crazy to think I'm wait. Was he on a two way deal this year. Hey, kid, Can you get a one way deal anyway? But why am I? Why do I was on the two way deal this year? Why don't you find that qualifying offer? Yeah. Why? Why do I? Why do Why am I crazy To think that a one year deal for like a million bucks for a million two is outrageous is that he's has arbitration rights if he goes and terrors of up to 25. So what? Because you're trying to protect yourself from that. That's the whole point. But he's listen. If he performs, you're gonna pay him anyway. No, no, We're not gonna pay him because we have already signed him and protected ourselves. We could have done this. Years and years ago with Sam and had him locked up to a certain contract after the bridge deal, But we elected to give me another one year deal at 5.2. Now all of a sudden, Sam after this season, in particular, has to sign another restricted free agent deal or he's gonna be they're gonna buy a mode of that. I think that I think personally that you and your number's low on a two year deal because if he goes out and puts up 44 points next year, when she was on pace for this year, you could go to arbitration asked for 3.5 to 4 Million bucks Exactly So, so you're gonna have to pay him more than 1.6 to keep their to get him on our two year deal. I think I don't think I don't think so. I think that's the whole point of him Banking on himself. You know if he signs one year deal, I wouldn't be interested in signing him to one year deal because after one year if he does have a solid season, he's going to put himself in a favorable position. Position to go to R. R. I want to take him out of Barb. So I'm going to sign him too. I don't know, particularly the number. I'm just throwing us a hypothetical which means absolutely nothing. But you're looking at giving him maybe 161718 for a two year deal. And that's protecting yourself. Bring him into the next contract where you're gonna have one more year after those two years of restrictive one more year of restricted free agency, so you can kind of manage another year. PD might do. All right. Are you in a different way? PD Sam signed a 3.653 point 65 contract after getting 42 47 50 points. 23 Gold 17 goals in 25 goals like there's no way That you are thinking, even if Casey Mills that was to get 40 points, he's not. He doesn't have the the deal while I want to say The support from his stats from his 1st 23 years to all of sense A I'm a 45 point guy. I need 3.5 Million or $4 million. You need more to bring to the table. I think to get a two year deal in the 1.5 range somewhere around there. You're giving Casey the comfort that he did not have last year, and you're moving forward. I think that would be the way to go. I would get one too. No, no, look like it. It's personal opinion right? And in the end of the day Don't know who's in the driver's seat in this particular situation. Would it be Casey because let's be honest? Three months ago. Three months ago. I don't think anybody cared if he was on this team. Right. So has he done enough? And is it just in your opinion? Is that just a two year deal? Has he done enough for that? I mean, I don't think so about the SPD who's coming back as a centers next year. Dylan cousins, in my opinion, or who's on the roster right now. You're you're Kevyn Adams. You have to figure that out. If you say Jack Salmon, Dylan cousins are coming back at center next year. What does that leave Casey Mills that you signed them to a one year deal, and they're not. But metal stud doesn't slide up because when, if and when I moved, Jack, I'm getting a center in return. I mean, so there's one cousins is too little status. Still my third line center man next year. Okay? Slash slash to a to B. How about we do that? Okay. I don't like listen, okay, but we're okay. I'm gonna go back number lines right earlier, PD. And you said it awaken number lines now. No, but I will. I'm going. I'm numbering lines. I've numbered lines for the last four years. Um, I'm gonna go back to something. You said that the break PD and and that and I don't know if you want me to share this, but you said If we have Center number one Jack Eichel, who ever Okay and then we have cousins and middle stat. We are still in a rebuilt. We are still taking our time to get to the playoffs. That's not the center lines that you say We're coming and we're blowing the dart the doors off this barn. It's not happening, so it's okay. I'm okay with that. If that's the approach we're taking, saying We still are of a few piece to get together here. But if you have center, one cousins in middle stat as two and three, you're not scaring anybody. Especially if you go back to the same old divisions as you were, and you have Toronto and you have Boston and you have temple in Florida in your division. You're not scaring anybody with that middle line. There's no other way to fill out the roster next year. Without using. Jack Sam, or both. Like there's there's no other way that you're looking. You're looking right now. And I'm not saying it's gonna happen. You could see Jack and Sam both back in this lineup next year, Okay?.

Katherine Lee Kevyn Adams Jack Salmon 3.5 Million 3.5 40 points 19 points 77 games two $4 million two year Sam Jack Sam Jack Jack Eichel 22 years 58 games 25 goals 44 points 45 point

"Us on Twitter shows at the instigators. Marty is at Marty Biron 43. Craig is at Craig Reveille 52. We're talking about everything here, but from Michael from his injury to Izzy back next year and everything else in between Sam Reinhart. Obviously we got to talk more about him. But we just heard from Casey, Metal Stat and What does the team do with him? Guys? I mean, where does he finish on your depth chart? Because And I know Craig, you're being funny. We're at the deadline day. We're talking about trades, and you're keeping Kasey and But you had said three months ago, I was helping him pack. So he changed me in every single solitary person from here to Timbuktu. And don't lie. Don't lie a few thing that you were one of the people that's in our cases in NHL player. You're definitely something there. People are gonna Oh, no. I love Casey. I never wanted to greet him away. You're crazy. There was 100% of people and what we have watched from Casey. Middle stat. From the time that he came here in buffalo at a very young age, and he had a solid He had a solid, okay, rookie season. But then there was, you know, he got some into the minors. He had toe work his way through and understand that this just wasn't going to be given to him. He had to earn all of the accolades and all of the time that he was going to be given. So when he showed up here and had a really good training camp from what I was told, Okay, he looked quicker. He looked like he was more engaged, not taking things for granted. Here's the thing. Ralph Krueger still summoned him to the taxi squad. He still was not playing. He was not getting the opportunity. Ralph Krueger had him on on left wing. Which was a joke, and I will go on the record and I will bring it back up. I said to you guys that Casey Middle Stat at the time was playing with Jeff Skinner, and he was playing with Curtis Lazar. And I told you guys back then Casey. Middle stat needs to be playing center because that's his position. This is where this kid needs to play. Go put Curtis Lazar on Right wing. Now you have a left winger. Now you have a right winger. You have Casey, Middle stat at center. That never happened. Until Ralph Krueger was fired. And the opportunity was given to him by Longer. Nadal and Casey Middle Stat started to play. He started to relax. He started to use his incredible hockey I Q and instincts. And you We saw what Casey middle stack and do and there's there's there's for me in the last 30 games this season. There's a future for this kid here in Buffalo. There's no question about it. What I saw from case he's only 22 years old, Just a kid. What? I saw you Middle stat. What I saw from Rasmus asked one, but I saw some cage Thompson not lying alone. I was very pleased with so under Don Granado. He had 17 points in 28 games with nine goals and he was a minus three. So it's pretty respectable numbers. The biggest thing Okay, And and if I listened to key symbols that doc, he says, the game slow down the game. Slow down. We hear a lot of players that they have a click that happens in their career at some point where they so the game finally slowed down, so that is very nice to hear. Because Casey is a playmaker is a guy that the puck comes through him. He's looking for a play to be made. He's not the guy that pushes the pace. He's not the fastest and he will never be. But he's got quickness, quickness in a short burst that I didn't know that he had so much, but he was able to utilize it like his 1st 23 strides quick, quick, quick, then moved the puck move it to the wing so that they can use that use their speed. Push the defense back entered a zone and then you come in again, so there's a lot there. Yeah, I did not know Casey Mills that had because the game hadn't slowed down from the game was too quick. He would get the pocket need panic and the games too fast and boom. We don't You think what he did in the off season? Do you not think what he did in the off season? Casey, Middle Stat when we when we drafted him, and I know he was he was, you know, 8 17 years old 18 years, turning 18. You couldn't do a chin up. Okay, So there's obviously a disconnect when you have Ah, 17 18 year old young man who can't do one single channel. Me That's a red flag. But here's the thing. He's taken time He's had to learn. He's had to take a step back, okay, and that probably hurt his feelings. But he grew as a young man and realized that if he wants a chance to play in the best league in the world, if you want a chance to compete against the best players in the world he needs to work. More away from the rink. I think when you look at him, he looks leaner. He looks Quicker Now he's never gonna skate like Jack Eichel. But he has a different skating stride. Okay, He's not overly fast, but he is very efficient and how he skates But the biggest thing with case metal stat with what separates him from from a lot of players is his hockey I Q and the ability to move the puck. To make place..

Jeff Skinner Curtis Lazar Sam Reinhart Don Granado Jack Eichel Ralph Krueger Nadal 17 Casey Mills Buffalo 17 points 28 games Michael 8 Kasey next year Casey 18 years nine goals 18

"Morgan Crazy working on Reinhardt still with it. Head out far 0.1 timer, and that one said wide also would open net. Was rightly looking for what would be his first of the year and first in quite a while. To be honest with you is gonna whistle on the plate. Now the Bruins missing the net a couple times here. Screechy. He's gonna weasel his way in there and try Feed home, but it goes off a foot goes to Smith. He's going to get a couple whacks at it not able to get it and here's byork coming down the wall. John. He's just gonna lean right into him. Drop that left shoulder in and put board down. First Key leans over with the glove and makes the save Dustin time to make the stop. The Boston Bruins here in this third period, they're not holding up a tall they're continuing to put pressure on cars. He makes the first save. Does a nice job finding that pocket lunging out to his left. She probably coming in there and he was thinking he had an empty net. He was born in skating out in front of the net. Oil, hounding him all the way to the center Ice Red Line. Send him behind the goal. Casey Mills stat centers in front, but it's office stick. And Richie and coil are able to get it out of danger and sent it into the Buffalo zone. In behind the Net. Samuelson back to the line, Clifton shot has stopped by to car ski. And then there was something going on with oil on that conversation continues. I think it's asked Flynn that he's talking to. Yeah would finish somebody off over on the first side coming down on the initial rush coming into the zone, not sure who it was, but he Cleanly finished him off into the wall. Probably That's what he's coming across. Just to let him know. Continue it. There could be an issue. Good players do and you've got a role player like that Richie and kind of Richie. He is He's gonna go. He's gonna talk to guys. He's gonna make sure that things stay calm on the ice, and that's what you'd expect to see him doing that situation. Ruins fired in behind the sabers that risked aligning with eight minutes left on the clock. 52 Bruins lead Dylan cousins shy of center, He and Skinner in the exact same spot on the ice. Didn't work out for the two of them in the sabers have to find a way. Maybe it's this side, right Wing has almost chips it in back after it is Miller. Halfway up the wall cousins trying to reach around Bergeron sabers find Skinner left side. It's his way with the slot and turned it over.

"What's up? What's your excitement level like, What's the ceiling for this kid? I'm excited to see what he could be in a year or two when he matures when his body matures a little bit, too, because you gotta understand he's not afraid to go and in the physical battle, he goes in there. He's just not like a man yet is not. He doesn't have that man strength yet, and I think you'll get it. But if speed is explosiveness Is great. Don Granado talked about the first couple of strides with Dylan cousins like he's just getting create that separation right away. But what's even more impressive in my opinion is that he carries that that straight speed. Throughout the whole length of the ice. If he gets the park in the defensive zone, he gets explosive this right away with the park but through the neutral zone and even entering the office of zone and cutting to the net with the puck He keeps going. She's getting faster, faster and faster as he gets through the neutral zone, the office's own and and that to me is something that a lot of players don't have. They have the 1st 34 strides. They get quick. But then day plateau really quickly. You watch my David play make David is one of those players that is able to carry speed and even more speed. The longer he has the park the longer he skates I I think Dylan cousins is is like that. Not Make David speed but really, really, I am speed on the ice soul. That's that's what is exciting for me is because McKinnon make David those type of players have the long range speed and Dylan cousins have that In in the discussion of young guys that are playing well right now, Cousins is not alone. Of course, we would also add Casey middle stand. Now he's gonna be on this later this morning at nine o'clock, and what he's done in recent weeks has really been eye opening. It is, I mean, he's looked completely different. He looks like like a much more confident. Um, player in a number of different ways. Why what's happened with Casey middle step that has allowed him to play at the level he's been at the last few weeks. I think when big differences Now we're focusing on the strength of Casey Mills that night. He's focusing on his own strength, as opposed to looking at the weaknesses and and himself as a player stand while I'm not the fastest, so I'm not the biggest, so I'm not great in the face of God and well, you know what? Put that aside. Focus on this on your strength. What are you good at? Well, I'm pretty quick when? When Casey Mills that gets going as first three or four strides is really quick. Well, instead of trying to the park on your stick For 20 strides of the ice. Have it for 45 Streisand and move it right, because that's when your strength is your really quick on the first four or five strides you can. You can separate yourself from your back, check her in that way and then moved the puck. And he's doing that is moving the puck a lot quicker. But I really feel that you know, with Casey Miller's dad with Don Coronado with a lot of the sabers. Now they're really focusing on their strength. And not really looking at their weaknesses. And then what? We have to figure that you're never gonna fix Casey medals that speed from from goal line to go line. It's never gonna happen. But you know what? You can build a really good hockey player from their strength and what has made them. You know, 1st 1st round picks and and stand out in college and and other level and continue to build on their strength. So I really like When Casey gets the pocket watch, he gets really quick and three strides. And then he moves the park or Denny uses. Other skills set like his hand is vision eyes. Hockey. I Q to be able to create something. He's not just trying to. To become somebody's not, and that's no. That's a sign of maturity, and that's a sign of good coaching as well. The other guy I want to ask you about before I let you go is Sam Reinhart. Now He's at center They've had, you know, injuries, trade, whatever the has thinned the ranks, and he's looked effective its center. We have don Granado on the show on Tuesday, Marty and and he said, there's no reason to put him back on wing. That's just leave MIT Center. What do you think about that? I think there's no reason to put it back on wing because of the need right now of the sabers. But in their normal season if you have Michael healthy cousins lt Mills that's lt. I don't think there's There's room for some right art center, and unless you decided to place them, right art, maybe a little lower in the lineup. Maybe as a third line center. Give him or the tough matchup you say Okay, you're gonna play against You know the Patrice Bergeron line, You're going to play against the Crosby line. Maybe that that's what you would do to try to free up Eichel and maybe cousins s O. But I think that's for next season, a decision to be made over the summer over next season. Right now. You keeping them at center because you haven't needed center and there's there's no need to say OK, we're going to play Riley Sheahan at center over Sam Reinhart or or Cody Eakin, that center over Sam Reinhart. You have right art. You have cousins. You have middle stature. Those are your top three center and you're going with it, And it's working. So I don't see it. I need to change that right now. But you may have to make a decision over the summer as to who? Your center and your top three are going to be Hey, just so you know, no f one this weekend, So you know. Yeah, I know you gotta You gotta work Sunday night, but you got to find something else to keep you busy this weekend. What a race Sunday morning, right? I mean, it was amazing in the rain, the whole, you know, wet tires and the media tires. Um Lewis Hamilton making Jeremy I'm sure you heard this and you'll laugh because Brian deaf and I talked about it. In this post race conference, he says. I made a mistake haven't made a mistake in a long time. Like how much. How about the confidence of Louis Angleton to say he has not made a mistake in a long time in a Formula One race like that is It is pretty cocky, but at the same time, very confident and very active, too. It was awesome. It was awesome. It was great. Marty. Watching That mistake meant that the race got a lot more exciting If you watched him basically climb the field and one of the things Lewis Hamilton did. I saw he basically sent messages to almost every other driver view driver via social media. Like Lando, Nora said. Like Good to see you up on the podium. You did a great job like this. I think he's excited for a season that's going to have you know a lot of competition. It's It's definitely a better season last year already And even though like Hamilton finished 2nd and 1st happened, one they were used to seeing Hamilton from the front and just cruising through a victory and what we saw him coming back and overtaking driver after driver after driver and Lando North, says. Is through fast for me. I can't. I can't keep up. He's too fast for me like that's beneficial to Lewis Hamilton. I think in the way that he's gonna, you know, be maybe the best driver ever to race in the F one because Now he gets to show a different side of what he can do. All right, Mr Bron. Thank you. As always, for hockey talk, sir. Always nice having you on the show. Enjoy your weekend, and we'll catch up with you next week. Thanks for reminding me that there's no Formula one this weekend and that I'm working on Sunday. Yeah, I mean, you always bring the good news, right? We're here for a strong, make sure you had your big pen ready to go. I have my big pen ready to go. I have tonight. Tomorrow and Sunday three and four. I'm gonna be tired after that. They make sure yes, stuff how the Astros were doing this season. He'll love that conversation. I don't even want to bring up baseball with Mr Duffy's.

"Had 41 points. That is unbelievable. And then if I could just see here at 42 penalty minutes, by the way, And in 80 games at age 51 52 like that is that's why the record by Patrick Marleau is so amazing because Gordie Howe is this legend of longevity. Of playing in five decades. Pro hockey even came back in 1990 was eight stability. I hate to say it, but you got it. You know, you've got to have a certain body type. And I told you before I told you this yesterday that he is a genetic freak is a man made body that is, is 100% suited for hockey. £220. He's six ft two. He's got insanely. Yeah, you know, legs and butt and his core is, you know, he's just he takes care of himself. You can see he's He's a big guy in his jaw line in his neck just in his head shot. If you could just look at the guy and say he's but using you know what You gotta be locking. You have to be lucky. I mean, there's so many guys that play the game that yesterday, lucky just to make it to the NHL ribs. That's not even considered lock that's considered way more than luck to get to the NHL Play one game You have to be lucky right to have a career and play 500 games. You have to be extremely lucky Play 1000. You have to be so fortunate. Least 17 68. I'm no If there's a word for that. I don't. Yeah, I mean, We'll go back. And look, it is like hockey db Hockey DVs Unbelievable page. Just go look. How many 82 games seasons he played. I mean, you know what I think? Games 78 games. He missed very few games. Obviously, you don't get to this. What do you take out of it? Glad you asked me that, Andrew what I take out of Patrick Marleau's DB page. As I start looking at it. Roll through it, and I thought of one thing. His first Giri Add 13 goals and 32 points. Second year 21 Goals. 45 points. Third year 17 Goals. 40 points, fourth year 25 Goals. 52 points. Six year If anyone glory if you do every year don't know our six years, six years with those point totals 30 to 45 50 to 44 57. Consistency. Well, it's interesting that you say that would you say that those point totals 13 goals? 21 goals. 17 goals. 25 goals. 21 goals 28 goals. Do you think of those numbers? There. There are good. They're not great, good numbers, but they're not great. Okay, So what if I were to tell you 47 49 50 65 52 in a shortened season and then this year is another very solid season. I'm speaking of no other than Sam Reinhart, in his first six years you're talking over his first six years are better than Patrick Carloads. Yeah, it's different game to Patrick Marshall played in 97 98 word. There were New Jersey trap. They're scoring leader in the NHL at 80 points. Different years that contain it's like it. Let's look at as soon as the 5 2006 seasons started 86 points with 34 goals. 78 points with 32 goals. 71 points with 38 goes Oh 83 points with 44 goals that at age 30 I mean, the opening up of the league and all five or six helped. He was really good, but I don't think you can compare Pat Marta with Sam Reinhart. Your attitude stinks. I'm just going to tell you that right now, Um, but Sam Reinhart Boy, Sam Reinhart, who don Granado mentioned today on GR really likes so much center and no need to feel the switching back to wing carry on at this point. But this time, there's no there's no reason to move them. But what happens when Jack Eichel comes back? I send you guys attacks yesterday. And and maybe that's something we can discuss. I don't know if we wanted to go there this morning, but okay, so we have I call as the number one center and you can make a case for Dylan cousins. Or maybe you and Casey Middle stat at center on DSanders Renard at center as well and I'm starting to look at Sam's production and the way he plays and I'm like, What if Sam was a really good defense of center Mons who happens to score goals? Sam doesn't drive play doesn't push the pace of play is not fast. He can score goals. He has a knack for scoring goals, but he's also really good defensively. What if Sam was your third line center, a more defensive minded roll checking role but ended up scoring 2025 goals a year. That is what you say. Checking roll. Yeah. Yeah, That sounds bad. But when you say checking Don't like the word checking roll. I like the word role that has the ability to play against the other team's top line. Yeah, okay. Like you are your job is to play against the other times like checking role because you know who has it checking role. Patrice Bergeron. Pastor. Same same roll party I don't want I don't want to jump on you here, Marty. I don't Sam, Right hearted. Third line. I mean, With power play you given for clean water lines. Let's not okay. Well, let's say the white hard line was the third line. We are naming our lines because remembering that we could do whatever we want, but I'm just saying, you give some first part play. You give them a shift here and there at the end of period at the end of games where you need a guy in front of that you need a goal, but Overall, his game. Could be better suited for that role that you just say. Hey, we've got the Toronto Maple Leafs and awesome Matthews. Sam, that is your responsibility tonight. We've got the inventor. Nor was an economist David Sam, That's your responsibility tonight. Like what? I don't know if I were to tell you this that Jack Eichel is our number one center. That our number to a to a is Dylan cousins and are to be it's Sam Reinhart. Don't like saying that Sam Reiner is gonna be a third line center because not a third line center. I think he's played and produced in this league where he's not a third line center. So let's just say that he is going to be in a role where Sam Reinhart's line He's going to play against the other team's top lines. He's going to match up against. You know the Nate McKinnon, the Landeskog and then ran in and he's gonna line up against the Patrice Bergeron, Marshawn Pasternak's He's gonna go up against Austin Matthews and whoever he's playing with I don't I don't mind. That Your mindset of thinking that Sam Reinhart is a defensively responsible player that understands Defense and he's really good female staff. What do you do it Casey Mills that and I know you're the one who's basically making the lines right now, Marty. I know, but I guess that's why I'm saying, like the problem that I had was okay. Like right now I call middle stat cousins, Reinhardt. Um, you've got you've got this just stepped down the middle. It's never a bad thing. What do you do? I think you've got flexibility where the sabers had zero depth down the middle. For the longest time. I think now we still have Cody Eakin now, and that's not Go down that path, but he's still a sentiment. We could still play other players that center we have many much motivation will be the fourth line center in this particular situation going and going into next year. If you're doing what you're doing, I'm looking at not just next year, but two years on the road three years down the road. I don't think Cody Eakin is there from longer than that. But I'm just saying Does mental start have to be a winner or have to be a sentiment. I'm saying does he have to be done? I think so. Well, here's what Here's What Don Granato says about mental stat. Lots of things have gone into his success. It's supporting him but also pushing him and demanding more of him..

Patrick Marshall Jack Eichel Patrice Bergeron Cody Eakin Gordie Howe Patrick Marleau Nate McKinnon Sam Reinhart Casey Mills Sam Reiner Marshawn Pasternak 1990 Andrew 45 points 41 points 32 points Reinhardt Dylan 40 points Don Granato

"And that's what I'm saying. It's not about being It's not about a guy that's going number one might not really be the number one cause the number one pick might not have been able to, you know, I've been able to give have a fair shake it playing this year. Listen. Absolutely Absolutely. Like, if that's what I'm talking. Take Sam Ryan hearts here. I know. And I like I like your point. I think we're I think we're both making for points. I think a little bit. We're arguing the scene. Scenes behind the scenes. Your own powers. I know. For years I have been Lose. If you are not making the playoffs, I'd rather be last. I swear to God, I don't care what anyone says. If I'm not making the playoffs, I'd rather be last because I want to acquire that elite. Player. In a very, very, very high pick, and he will be a game changer as we move forward. Hence. Look at Dylan Cousins. Hens. Look at Jack Eichel. You know Sam Reinhart Rasmus Darlene. These guys are elite players that will propel your team. Two great things. I I honestly believe that That being said, I'm in a point right now. That I don't want to lose any games. I want this team. We've got the youth. We've developed guys like the Jacob Rice in the rash. Miss Darlene Yoki har use Makita Samuelson, you know Dylan cousins, Rasmus Aspelin seems to be like He's just more confident not he's more of a defensive minded style player, but is really playing some some great hockey right now. Casey Middle Stat Page Thompson. There's still a ton of growth. The goal in all of these players you Sprinkle in You know. Ah, Victory. All of Senator, I think it was played very, very well As of late to Sam Ryan Hardy is is, you know, a huge part of this team moving forward. We haven't even once talked about one of the top. 10 players in the world. Jack Eichel. He's not even in our lineup. Well, actually, thank you for making that point. We have calls in line. Okay? We called for him and they answered us. Let's grab Mitch in Orchard Park. He has a thought on Jack Eichel met. You're in line with Andrew Craig and W G R 5. 15 MSG What's going on? Was I doing? Doing? Great match. Thanks for the call. What's up? You guys hear me? Yeah, we can. S o. My biggest point about Jack Eichel and Just keep seeing it all over the place where people keep saying that. Look how good this team is doing without Eichel. Jack Eichel's the problem. Jack Eichel is causing all this. Negativity in the locker room, blah, blah. But if you're gonna use that point of look how good this guy is, or this team is without Jack Eichel. Wire. We not thinking about Look how good this team is going to be with Jack Eichel. You have a guy that is putting up 85 points. He's getting heart nominations. Horrible team over the past few years. This guy is improving every year and now we're all the sudden leave. We want to run him out of town because Him. Reinhardt is showing that he could be a good sentiment now. Jack Eichel belongs in the steam. He's the captain of this team, and it's It's insane to me that people want to ignore that and move on from him. When It would be Ryan O'Reilly two point. Oh, we have our number one center. We have our captain and to move and to build around. That would be the actual smart thing, not move on from him because we'll be right back to where we are. I have to say, fellas. Much appreciate the call Craig. I'll let you comment on that calls are starting to come in and good assortment of when we have some good tweets, so we'll start to take those heading into the next segment. But A quick comment on that rift. Well, it's undeniable that Jack Eichel is is One of the best players in the world. No question about it. He probably is a is ah, top 10. Hockey player in the world. That being said. We're at a point in time right now that Young guys. Getting a chance to play. Because Jack Eichel has big, big big shoes to feel, uh, fit into and no one. We don't have anybody on this team that can that can fill Jack's shoes. Can't fill. You can't fill top 10 players in the world shoes, But what you can do is players collectively start to take bigger roles. And they start to Um, you know a player like Casey, Middle stat. Is put in a position where he is now having to play against the top lines on other teams, Okay? And he is not Casey Mills that will never Be Jack Eichel. I'll never be Jack Eichel. But Casey Middle Stat can be a next tree M'lee good player in this league, and he's taking a bigger role and taking more minutes on and teach Thompson, his right winger, who was not playing is taking advantage of his opportunity and all of these players because there's more time there's more. There's more minutes in the game because Jack Eichel ate up so much That there's guys that are starting to galvanize with one another because they are trying to take advantage of an opportunity that they may never get again. And that's why we talked about earlier. You know? Is it easy for the sabers to play there out of the lineup? They don't have pressure. There's pressure. What are you talking about? Christmas. Aspelin. Do you think he's guaranteed to have an NHL spot? Like a month ago? I would have put him no. Casey. Middle stat. Was he guaranteed a month ago? No. We traded in the NHL. You were helping him pack but listen, he may not have played for any other NHL team. Cage, Thompson Satin sat in the stands, You know, like there's so many of these players Anders, New York that we picked up from Boston did not play did not have opportunism players. He's a player. He's a player now because he's getting a chance to play. He's well. He was a player in Boston, but he wasn't the player that he's going to get a chance to be here. He's going to get a chance to be a different player here than he was in Boston. There's no question we got to go to break riff. We'll keep going on that point. Potential. While there's history in the making tonight in the NHL is something I never thought I'd ever see. Tell you what that is. In a little bit here. I'll tell you what that is next other history potentially in the making here the next few days that I didn't think I'd see. Um, tell you what that is..

"I've never. That's one of the reasons why I think Murray drafted him was because he had, I think at that point blown up a lot of our picks or or miners and we had no players that we had no players in the minors. So so he needed to draft a kid who is eligible for some strange reason. He was eligible to play in the minors as an 18 year old and you needed him. You needed that body and mind her horrendous, Let team horse crap team in the minors. He should have gone back to junior and shredded it up. I'll say this. I put all your bonus We rush the first round draft pick and, uh, in the lander. I this and I was like, No. Look, why don't you drop ships that Dr Picture have been surrogates have anyway but we should've been so good. But anyway, I'll say this. I'm gonna put on us on Alex The lander, just like I am gonna put on us in case the middle stat day need to own their development and do the things they need to do, Jack Quinn. Isn't Rochester right now and listen. He's ahead of where Alex No wonder was at 18 years old or 19 years old in Rochester. Why, Because Jack win is owning his development in that situation, So there's owners that needs to be put on the players Casey Mills that was not preparing Like a pro. The last couple of years. He was not. Well, Thank you for making my point for me, Marty, Because I am you know, you say play the kids hold on review, say, play the kids. And that's why I say That I want Jack Quinn to be called up and get a game for the reasons you just mentioned it just for him to get a feel for what it what it looks like. He's 19 Craig. Exactly what do you What do you mean on this road with giving Casey Middle stat. Everything and given Alex Neal Andr. Everybody's already he's already signed. So why not send him off in his first off season after being in the minors with a couple games under his belt to know what? Oh, No. He's already ease where he needs to be right now he's already playing slightly over his head. Against guys that are our men he's doing funny is seven points in 13 games. I know he's minus 10. Don't give me that. But I mean, he's also lost, like nine years, and I don't know what this plus minus was that game and guess what I mean. You know, you also have to understand that Jack Quinn is Is a year older. He's 19 is a 19 year old most guys that were drafted in last year's draft for 18. So he's an older guy, so he's a little bit a little bit more, maybe advanced and listen, Jack wins a really nice player. Certainly not shredding it down the miners, but I wouldn't expect him to. There's like sir, very slow stepping stones for him to develop. We know that Jack Quinn can consort goals. We know that he's got great speed any any any can play the game. He needs to work on that small details to continue to be a full time NHL player, and we don't want him just to come in and be a player that comes into our lineup, and it takes him another two years to develop into a We need him to come in. Where he is going to be a game changer right away, and he needs to start to develop. Develop himself in the minors. There is absolutely and I mean, absolutely no need to bring him up into the NHL. Well, I wouldn't give him a taste. Make him hungry. I would agree with Dad. But also I know that the sabers and Granado and Adams I know Don Granados mentioned it. I would think that's also is the way Kevin Adams is thinking is that they are going to play some younger kids from Rochester. They're going to call them up. So I'm looking at Players that you could say OK, who's getting called up? So on the taxi squad right now? According to Cap friendly you have are two rights linen. So he's playing. Okay. You have J s d. O K. C. J. Smith. You could place EJ Smith. But you don't You see them already and Brendan Davidson? That's that you don't have to worry about it. Now. Let's look in Rochester with forwards. You have Brendan Viral. I don't think that's a guy that you say is coming up, Jack win. Possibly you have Bret Murray of Matty. Pick are you have Ogilvy the petrol for birdie and wise back? Okay, so and wise back. Sorry. Uh, dramatic car. Maybe, but UN defense. You have many material material. Samuelson. Um, that's the guy and you have a scary lacks in in so there could be a couple of D coming in. You get some some some ice time here and see how they are. I don't know that other than Jack Quinn. I don't know that there's a lot of Ford's to be called up and be given some initial experience. Do you think defense is going to be the focus in the off season with those players coming in and being sampled that you just mentioned and you also have You're Borg in this year, and you also have 78. Come on, Bryson Bryson. Thank you, Susan Price I'm doing this for duffer is left is defense the focus this offseason? Well, I mean, it is what you mean. What do you mean? Is it the focus? To improve. Well, it is going to be the focus in how you build your defense, No youngest, right out of the youngest defense in the league next year. We have you have Darlene? You okay? Are you okay? They're gonna be here at this moment. You still have calling Miller under contract. Your severest align and under contract, Bryson will be here. Hey, So will bargains. Gonna Borgen will be here. So there's your top four. And Darlene Jochi. How are you, darling? Gonna be 21 next year? Okay. How are you is going to be 22 next year. Jacob Bryce, and I thinks 23. And will Borden is going to be 24. You have Matisse, Samuelson. If he, uh, makes the team he's 21..

Darlene Jochi Jacob Bryce Brendan Davidson Darlene Susan Price Bret Murray Kevin Adams EJ Smith Jack Quinn Casey Mills Don Granados Matisse nine years Alex Neal Andr 13 games Murray Bryson Brendan Viral Marty Alex

"Tremendously when teams finish the season. And now they have players that are gonna fall off their books. Players that are gonna be unrestricted. Do they sign them? Do they not signed them. They're going to get a chance to redo their entire roster, redo their books, and that's when teams are going to be more interested in getting serious. On players like a Jack Eichel. Sam Reinhart harassed mistress. Delighted. I'm not saying that Kevin Adams wants to trade any one of those three. I'm just saying that he better understands now, just to elaborate on my question, though, just to elaborate on my question, and Marty, please chime in here. I guess my question is, Do you think Kevin Adams has a Dry erase board with those guys on it, obviously because they're under contract for next year. But then do you think he has one of possibilities of what he's heard? He could possibly maybe get or who might be available at the end of the year for this particular, say, Sean Monahan, just for an example. Say, Insert another defenseman there that you want to put in there just for a dream like scenario. Do you think he has his own that nobody knows about aboard for sure. Without Jack Eichel without Sam Reinhart without rest A without even dog, Dolly. I mean, like, how many different boards could he possibly have? PD? I have this book where I write down everything. What we do on the show today. I'm writing it down the trades yesterday. I'm writing it down. Where I Where did I learn that? I learned that from Kevin Adams. When I started working at the Academy, hockey and I, every time we had a meeting cabin at his book, and he wrote that down, so he Has a book on every conversation he's had. Okay. So yesterday he's talking with Boston to make the Taylor Hall trade or the night before. He's got his books. He's understanding what players were discussed. He's also fielding all these calls and writing his book. So he knows, And maybe it wasn't As busy as a trade deadline that we would want it to be. But for Kevin Adams, and for all general manager around the National Hockey League, they are preparing themselves for the summer. With this day, the stocks with these communications amongst general manager so So what? This maybe is my hopeful way of looking at it and saying Kevin Adams And April is preparing for the draft. He's preparing for July 12 when free agency will open. He's getting his notes organized right now because of those conversations that he's having. Well, that's a lie. Just let that breathe for you refer to just kind of grab it and take it, But I mean, feel free to Feel freedom, Tonto. Add to what I was saying. I mean, Like is there is there do you think And maybe you guys have already answered the question. And maybe I guess I just wanted to be a little bit more than it is. But maybe I'm just not being clear. But I just want to know if you think that He's taking calls. On Sam and knows what he can get for him. And has that guy already in his lineup and knows what he could be looking at for Jack and nose. But because we have we have dragger and Elliot on this show Weekly one on Thursday. That's Elliot one on Friday. That's Trager and they're reporting the same things. Right? A lot of similarities. And those are the guys. You listen to S O When you hear him talk about calls on Darlene and calls on this. Do you think there's ah realistic board that he looks at like you do rib and says Could have a pretty good team. If I If I make a few deals this off season that are are significant deals and significant players on my roster. No question about it. There. There, There's I'm sure that Kevin Adams is. He's got multiple boards, and I'm gonna tell you right now, I should be phoning up Kevin Adams and saying I will be the marker guy. I will be the guy that writes down what Kevin Adams on the board. That's all I need. Just, you know, pay me a dollar a day, and I will just write this stuff on the board. The problem is when, when they when Kevin is going to say OK, put Casey Middle stat there. You're gonna write Ryan Reeves. And he's gonna say no, That's not how you spell Mittelstand. It'll be like The pen is doing with the pen wants, Kevin. That's the way a wife I don't want Ryan reached Marty. No, no, no. I'm just saying you're gonna put your player I don't know. Listen, I mean, it was maybe three boards. There's gonna be three boards is gonna be there is gonna be the Jack Eichel. Sam Reinhart risk the line in and all the other players around the board. Yeah. And then there's gonna be another board That doesn't have Jack Eichel or Sam Reinhart or rest, aligning and and think about what, what you could get. For those three players to restart and rebuild this organization that I don't think you're gonna have to do a rebuild because I think guys like Casey, Middle Stat. Page Thompson, Rasmus, Darlene Yoki Har You are younger players are not young. They're actually they've gone through their growing pains of young And you're starting to see what Casey middle stat is all about. What Cage Thompson is all about. We've had a We've had a rash, Miss Dolly, and that struggled immensely. And I mean immensely at the start of the season, and I'm gonna tell you right now. Hell happened to this kid? What about what about what about aspirin? Right, Selena? In a case like I like that, I mean, come on. Old old Rooty toot See is, Let's give him a little bit of time. Let's give it a little bit of time. But I'll tell you this, Rasmus asked one Is now a guy that you need to have in your mind That could be on this team next year because he has played his way onto this line up every single night. Oh, here we go. Played his way. No one's everyone's learning it now. I'm all for sorry right now. Right now you're playing the kids right now. You're playing the young kids for the rest of season. Absolutely. But listen, Marty, be careful. Do you mean kids that might not even have earned it? No, no, no, I know I know you're playing. You have players that are going to play and you have a roster and rules to respect But you are playing ruts. Elaine and you're playing aspirin. You're playing Dylan cousins. They are going to be on the power play. They are going to get really valuable minutes. That's all development is I'm not saying Call up Jack Quinn and play. Um, that's not worries at I am those now. But those three guys that I just pointed out are at the at the spot at the at the level that the opportunity to get some initial experience eyes presented to them, and that's a good thing. I can tell you right now right now. Next year. Third line was going to consist of Casey, Middle Stat Page Thompson and Rasmus asked one. There's your line. If I were to tell you next year that that's our third line. Would you be okay with it? Yes, right now, the way they're breaking lutely. Playing fantastic and they're gonna be a year older and you're bigger. You're stronger. Ah, you're more confident. I think Casey Middle stat. I like what he said in his interview last week where he just took for took for granted. Where he was at in his career and realize that he he needed to change more off the ice. Then on the ice. This kid's got world class, insane skill. That's why distracted a little girl. That's why he was the third highest rank forward in the draft that year, and you're starting to see it's taking a little bit of time because that's usually Usually what happens with players is they need time to develop and Casey Middle stat took that time to the No. Marty. No, I'm gonna say yes, it takes time for players to develop. Absolutely. But he also and maybe that was Jason Botterill and Casey, Mill Stats. Agent He was put in an impossible position. He played high school hockey. In U. S a child, then one year of college, and then he's supposed to be making the jump to the NHL. And I think there was a little bit of arm twisting in that whole thing like he wasn't ready for that. And I think he took a step back Now you're saying that we rush them? Maybe a year? Yeah, He should have been in Rochester developing federally now and now we would be saying, middle stat. Just like we're sent aspirin and Russell einen, we'd say like, Oh, look at this guy. He's is where we wanted to be. I think we We got a bad taste in our mouth for a year and a half because he just wasn't ready for that. So listen. Did well, that is Coach Lee. We write college or something, Lander. No, I like the lander was the opposite. He was He was He was He was given the opportunity to instead of going back to Junior's develop in Rochester, and I don't think Alex knew Lander really took the steps Forge that that we were Roger he played against May never should have been kneeling or never should have been in the minors as an 18 year old..

"Stretch here where we've seen improvement Underdog Renato skepticism from fans, which I guess you'd say is credible, they would say, Well, wait till they start playing the top teams in the division again. Um, and against Washington. They didn't look out of place in any manner. You're right. It was just a couple of goals that you'd like Dustin Tocar ski to stop. So I guess again. It's one game here against the first place team Washington, But I guess I would say that that's a good sign that we still saw some of the good things. Um, like the young defenseman getting involved in the offense like stage Thompson and Casey Mittelstand, Rasmus aspirin winning battles Going to the Net like these are some of the trends that we've been hoping to see from this team all year. And the fact that it's happening from this young group and guys Paul Paul that I definitely will admit that I had written off. I didn't think th Thompson nor Casey Middle Stat was going to be all a part of what I would consider to be quote the solution going forward. Maybe they're both can be, And it's also things that we're hearing from them maturity going to the Net, like these air also pieces that I would have never put on their resume in terms of like things that I think about when they're playing hockey like they're even doing things that for the most part we haven't seen from them before. So that's a good thing, Middle stat. Continues to when we hear from him after games sound like he has had a I don't. I don't know if it's a coming to Jesus moment they call it are, you know, seeing the light or whatever. Like he, he just sounds so much more mature. His approach. Paul is professional now. Yeah, he does. And that's why I just would get frustrated with fans. You know that the knee jerk reaction. Darlene's a bust. Darwin's not 26 years old. I mean, Darlene just needs some time and needed to have a coach That could show him the way and that type of thing and to say, just because he was playing horrible hockey, and he was He's a bus trade. Um, get rid of him. Send him to Rochester and barium. They were idiots for drafting him and all that kind of stuff. But middle stats a little bit older. And he's been around a lot, and I went against my own advice there. How many times have you heard me? You say, you know, just relax. These guys were young. Some guys take longer. But I, too had pretty much given up on Casey Mittelstaedt. I did not think he was going to be part of the solution. And I thought he would probably spend the whole year in Rochester and he was going to be a first round bust. And teach. Thompson was getting there for me, too. I had quite reached that point with him, but he was getting there, too. So I actually went against my own advice on younger players, and some do take longer, and it's looking like at least right now. I mean, we were told by the other coach, a Casey Mills that will not never play center in the NHL. He's going to be a winner. He can't play center in the NHL. Yes. What PC mills that can play center in the NHL, and he just proven it in the X amount of game since Don Granado is taking over and he's been given that chance and why you were talking to. I was thinking about what we just discussed earlier how that didn't work when they had those optional skates. And as you spoke, I thought, Well, wait a minute. It did work for what he was going for. And that was the last game of the three out of 43 games in four nights, and for the back to back they did play better. In that last game in the back to back So it didn't. It worked horribly for Game two of the three game set and it did accomplish what they were trying to accomplish in Game three. They did play much, much better, and we're more well rested in Game three, so I'll go back to the same question. Did it work or didn't it? Yeah. I mean, I guess you'd say it did. I mean, I just thought of that, as you were talking about? Well, what was the purpose of doing that It was to get them, You know, being able T be able to play and get through those three games and four because the final game last time was a horror show. It was just awful well wasn't this time, So they were successful there, But just game too was a horrible game. That's right. Good point. I mean, and let's let's give Don Gaetano credit. He has Handled a very tough situation. Every coach this year has a tough situation in terms of how to balance the The morning skate. The optional skate the practice the mandatory practice the optional practice like Games are coming fast and furious. It seems like you're playing three and four nights and then you turn around. You do three and four nights again, like it just seems like that's just everything you end up having to do or you play five and eight. It just it seems like quite a bit. Of a of a tough stretch here, um so and even him the other night. Paul after the Devils game, he said, Maybe giving them the extra day off for the extra option wasn't a good idea and that I would do it differently next time like that's For a guy. That's what less than a month in for his first head coaching job to understand. He's also monitoring and adjusting like as we ask players to do tow asked the coach to do the same thing and the fact that he came out and admitted that right away and said, You know what? I would have handled it differently like Good for Granato. Um, you know, he's established NHL guy like you wouldn't think. Oh, he needs to mature as well. Like, well, he could He He did the monitor and adjust and learning from it sort of thing to which is, I guess all you ask of any player or coach. What he's got to figure out is all right the first time we did it. Games one and two were good. Game three was awful. Second time we did it different games One and three were good game, too, was awful. So now he's got to figure out. How do we What can we do to make all three games? Good. You know, he's done it two different ways and a different game has been the bad game. So now he's got it figure out a way where you know they can be ready for all three of those games. Paul Hamilton here with me. Brian Cole seal on our Paul William belts, pregame show savers today in Philadelphia to take on the.

"Is going on Michael Michael gene J. since that's sitting in for trading trade schedule they often worry about playing a little book it today no Jason because you're in here I feel the need to explain this again because there's a bit of a struggle with this concert is in a struggle yes if you're gonna read me a question and I can say either or maybe neither or or perhaps both I hate everyone the name of the game is book it I did you would take if you like it if you want to spice it up a little bit shout book at the end line would play the Sounders around around the globe don't you won't we move on got it good Chasen Aaron Rodgers was won't to finish his career with the Packers okay yeah I'm in a bucket but that's you know even even before all of this I think that would have been a smart pocket like quarterbacks at some point decided they're going to keep playing in teams decide they're gonna keep playing somewhere else teams move on before quarterbacks are ready so even before all of this history shows great quarterbacks end up somewhere else all right listen I agree you know you see their time run out they want to play longer than we've seen them play before soul I think just by the nature of where we are now in the NFL I think I'll book this as well yeah I'm a book decides to clean sweep for this one of the ones we have so many examples in history but once you start having a break no one's immune to this lady is alive Philip rivers I mean that's before you can go back to like farm Joe Montana I know these guys like everyone ends up wearing a different uniform because this position specifically can outlive a lot of its production dad Lamar Jackson will rush for over one thousand yards next season ran for twelve hundred last year I know the Vegas sports books has a line at nine hundred ninety nine and a half yards stuff yes a book that is going over a thousand yeah I book it too I mean I don't think we keep asking when it's going to stop and questioning whether or not a sustainable and frankly all he ever does is make us look like idiots so I'm gonna book it and no reason to think he won't so this is interesting I wonder what life because I feel like he was on that sort of trajectory as far as yards per carry in his rookie year right yeah like I'm I I did see what his yards per attempt works as a rookie where he didn't start every game that season the obvious right into that last seven stretch in the playoffs and Ryan Russell hundred and forty seven times this past year respondents seventy six times and that's the thing you know the attempts are going to be there and adds that running group right back room that JK Dobbins in there as well so you know the ground game is still gonna be something that's important even though they try and open it up hello hammer the over I I honestly as long as this bet will shut off should anything happen to the length of the season I'm good just feels like it's free money so going over planned book in here you can play along with his ankle going on Instagram I think Jason state's Jameis Winston will replace drew reason twenty twenty one you can look at all that's that's a good one that is a good one yes I'm going to book it I think he's gonna do is he's going to learn from drew Brees that he's not about coaching it's about watching preseason watch pres he's only gonna get better and better and better tasting those going to continue to sort of be you know a fun piece but James is going to get the opportunity and bam he gives the saints quarterback I'll just quickly answer questions his first year Lamar Jackson averaged four point seven per Kerry last year six point nine run perhaps while and that's that's providing drew Brees actually leaves yes I respect and your job lined up so I just don't see Casey mills starting quarterback of the same judges don't so I'll I'll book this and say yes the interesting part to me is Lewis brought up is how much is the Sean.

"On the radio dot com rewind that you could get caught up in anything you might have missed over the last twenty four hours but we were discussing what else the NFL draft it is great to be able to talk about the important alive specific sport MPO sporting event and you know you could just watch it react to it was fun to watch it was a welcome distraction and we could get into as we have the specifics of the broadcast and you know the different feel that it had but I just you know on Thursday air member being up pumped up about it obviously I mean we've all been pumped up about it waiting for it for quite some time and it's appointment television you flip it on even though they feel was a little weird with not having the live audience are you trying to get acclimated for watching it for you know watching the dell in his basement and the other people inside their homes it still wants a guy going I stop thinking about how different it was and I stop thinking about you know the the virtual draft I stop thinking about that sort of thing about the actual picks what players would be in taking over gonna see any trades what what's going to happen next who's going where that's what we needed that's the distraction is where they provide you an escape from the unfortunate reality that we've been in here over the last month or so thank intended to be and so it was great from that aspect of it no as far as the excitement of the draft itself look I love when teams build the right way inside out so I'm a big fan of taking the tackles and building with the you know the offense of line obviously defensive players well we know I'm for that is but in this draft you had the you know they all run on the the tackles early on in the draft so it's maybe not as sexy as you would have liked what the skill position players I get that that's what it's all about the quarterbacks wide receivers and running backs everybody loves the skill position players you had to look you had borough obviously go number one no surprise there but one chalk early on and that was the one thing I thought that maybe that's because of the the impact that the you know the the the again the current state that we're in here they had on the drive maybe because of the set ups because of the virtual draft maybe they were a little less trades were less significant trade because of what I thought you would see some war trades in particular in the top five picks of the top four for that matter and you didn't get any of that it went chalk with borrow and young okay to giants making a solid pick with Angie Thomas I like that big he's a guy who who early on the more proven this a month ago it was guy was gonna be a tough tackle and then after the combine he kind of dropped a little bit anyway the giants they commit for two that's exciting for the dolphins getting their guy we don't have a move they get their quarterback Herbert goes after him and so on but it was kind of I don't know kind of old standard drab no excitement no real movement throughout the course of that first round until of course you get to the Packers choice that was the first one we sort of thing what or what's happening here Akers trade off not only to take a quarterback who in their words only fell to us so they traded up to get a quarterback with Jordan love from Utah state now just doesn't make any sense Green Bay Packers yeah Vera Rogers you won thirteen games a year ago you try to win the Superbowl and you take it in Jordan love you take your trading up to take a quarterback in the first round and he followed up by taking a running back in the second row just mind bog we talk about building the right way inside out well they really have a quarterback to take a back up quarterback they don't need a running back they take a running back what exactly they're doing to get better this year I'd like to know for the Packers what are they doing it better this year but anyway outside of that in the first round it was it was pretty much you know went to one chalk in you know what kind of battle was a boring but a lack of really thrilled with all the linemen being taken in the tropics but still I mean it's a must watch event you know about the record views of who was at fifteen point six million viewers so obviously a much needed event taking place now as far as the actual coverage wasn't in love with you know trade wing go I think you need to stick to being an anchor as opposed to inflicting his personality he's not a comedian just stick to that we don't need to we don't need to be comedian and then always the references when this becomes a big deal on social media look it will look at the house the coaches in look at the set up who cares about the set up do you really care about Kliff Kingsbury's mansion I mean we know their rates we don't have a great backyard agree pulling great lawn well yeah it'll Bruce Arians Chillin in Tampa I don't care the Mike Zimmer in the dear that he's killed hang on a wall but I don't care I care about the pig secure about the players occur about where the team is making their selection them into what what players to be picked doesn't do it for me entry window for some reason was cracking himself up about it and everybody else on social media look at you know Mike Rabal what's going on in the background really don't care it's foolish to me it's silly that's were making a big deal about look at the guys dressed up in well come on please between that and them constantly showing us highlights of the players were being drafted to the NFL showing highlights of basketball which I mean I don't care if the guy could dunk or dribble a ball I mean he's getting there what is this is the NFL draft isn't it I think it's all more basketball highlights during the NFL draft that I've seen the old sports center in the last ten years it's bad it's not basketball I don't I don't care if you don't not concerned with that I care about what he could do football wise but outside of that it was fun just to have the draft on it have something to watch and be able to react to so we mention the Packers being you know one of the big stories with taking a quarterback trading up to get your love in the first round the other one is Jalen hurts and that's been the theme really that I the Packers with their selection and the eagles with their selection take taking Jaylen hurts in the second which is just stupid I mean I was stupid can you be how we rose we could sell it all you want to yeah there are a haven for quarterbacks in drafting and developing quarterbacks and they don't believe in back ups no no of course not you'll be above that the Philadelphia Eagles they don't need to back up there above that little even back up quarterbacks they wanted another quarterback they they of course I want to believe for four years now if they give up a ton of picks to build again they just signed to a four four year hundred twenty million dollar extension or whatever was we're gonna take a quarterback in the second round it's only the was handled their needs I mean we know they're loaded up they don't help a wide receiver anybody on defense of the opposite one they're good to go I want I think it's more important have a quarterback who you're probably gonna use like Taysom hill's used in New Orleans at least for the first couple years I mean what do you do with are you going to do what you want hurts what are you possibly going to do with the beyond course was in the event Wentz gets hurt that's that's how you gonna make this big that's are you to justify making the selection if you were that concerned about of having a second quarterback I don't want you to turn back up what do you just keep it full to go on the A. B. Peter Superbowl he wanted he wanted to see what I did if you love second quarterback so much what a stupid pair regardless of how they spend it they could so they're happy with it and they don't care they're comfortable with it it is a stupid pick Roseman Pederson stupid legal should be ashamed of themselves Packers too but even more so the eagles and you watch now other teams because everyone's a follower it's a copycat league other teams are gonna start doing this moving forward taking quarterbacks even though they have the stupid teams still trying to get cute and so you know what we need a quarterback Hey we need a quarterback in six seven I don't know maybe ten years from now let's take one here one thing if you do it over the Packers case what did you do it in the third or fourth round even the second round maybe for the Packers the first round you trade up again what an eagles you can't even justify them taking a quarterback it at all in the second row that's what it's come to now where teams are always only good enough to have one quarterback you need to try to get to what a horrible I don't care how good your hurt is by the way not only may you rub cars once the wrong way and by all accounts he seems okay with it what's gonna say right now I hate to pick what they doing what is this idiot organization doing but how do the jail hurts gonna feel about it do you think you want to go to a spa we knows it could be a starter you think you don't want to be a part time gadget play quarterback or play in the event of injury it doesn't work I can understand trying to think outside the box and not being a follower and fall victim to the same old model that has been taking place in a league for years where if you have a quarterback general you don't take another one it is certainly not the first couple rounds until you need what they need a quarterback you take whatever so again I want to fall into the same old pattern but there's a reason why sometimes things are the way that they are and why teams don't take a quarterback early in the draft if they already have quarterbacks you don't need to quarterbacks you can't have two quarterbacks it's a problem it's more harm than good if you have to could be starters on your team again you go like Casey mills bad enough we're taken through think about that for a second I know we provide the spark any at the moment and big plays that he brings a different element there drew Brees you taking drew Brees off the field is that smart you're taking drew Brees with the greatest quarterbacks of all time off the field is that really the best kid U. Abbas hood succeeding on that particular point but again not to take anything away from help with different dynamic it's worked to Payton and the saints have made it work well that that's not necessarily the model for Jalen hurts in the eagles it shouldn't be what scenario does this work out for the eagles how does this end hurts is gonna be but it's the only way to fall for an hour it's gonna be parked up for going to war under one and still use them initially this year and been minimal role I would think certain plays and what that's going to be the M. O. moving forward that's going to be his job now instead of being a starting quarterback in the league we're going to now all of a sudden transition into a league where you have two quarterbacks and every roster that could go in there and be versatile to me that's backwards thinking not the same thing but similar to where baseball's got away from having the starter actually pitch deeper into games right the whole idea behind a starter going eight or nine innings many years ago was because he was the best pitcher or bowl pending maybe bill pending is that an example the starter is usually the best pitcher so you want to start the game goes deep into the game as he possibly can you don't go over the bullpen first because usually those guys are your worst pitchers that's why you don't put them in the game to begin you start the game with your best pitcher you haven't go as far as he possibly can and so you have to go to the next best pitcher that you have available and somehow we got away from that what they get all you know what why do that when you just have I don't know the guy was supposed to come in the eighth inning Evans wrote the first thing now instead of having a quarterback who should be able to take every play of every game take every snap of every game if he's that good now you can have go from okay well let's get him the guy was our best quarterback get him off the field so we can get a lesser quarterback on the field for some gadget plays or trickery and.
