And you know my thing about dan and kevin on this show is i feel like they're not making the right connections because they're officials out of water and flatbush brooklyn you know. They're not talking to the right. People don't have key players as xactly. When i'm saying is they don't know kristen dotson they might you know masters i'm telling measures where now i exactly but you know you hear over there. Beautiful laugh over the hagedorn. Gary you keep moving you got things going you did cartoon network's the shivering truth. Tell me about being in the animator. World always like that comparison. They're like when you go on a series and how that is an animation. I mean well for one animation you literally just roll out of bed so up in a you know. Just do your thing. I think now. I inside from that like the other difference especially doing animation like a cartoon if they allow you to can totally change your voice based off with the character there's just a little bit more Freedom in not having to worry about how you look your makeup or anything it's just lifting those words off the page

"Actually! Is You listen to them so? So you guys can find all these pikestaff on anchor Apple podcasts and spotify. I'll be sure to link them description below off. So now we, we've done for dental shit. You know we can finally get a real stuff. So. We're talking about today. Today's episode you know is a topic that hold near, and dear to my heart, especially as a kid. Cartoon, you know. We had plenty of Bangor's when we were kids. You know before sitcoms. Should it on Disney Channel Neck? I think cartoon network had a couple of couple of sitcoms to. Helm, the why? The called fucking cartoon network should stay consistent least but. Hey, we in judging. So, Would you call yourself a cartoon fanatic Leo? Somewhat Yeah I'm definitely am like our fiend on cartoons as a kid I was at one kid was Disney X.. D. Like a yeah I, fucking paid extra for that show. I mean there's no problem with. This is like back then on. Cartoon Network Kid Niccolo now like when I was thinking about like. If I was a cartoon network nickelodeon or Channel Kid. I've watched a little bit of all of them, you know. I say they're. Not sure. If, we're talking about classic nick. Classic Cartoon Network. I didn't really watch much of that. If we're talking about classic Nick in Classic Disney I watch a lot of those, but like almost modern nick. No almost monitoring cartoon network I watched a good amount. You know! So I'm kind of I kind of know cartoons, especially like the newest you know the newest ones I stay up-to-date once in awhile. So, this might be a two part episode we're going to try to. Do you know at least eighty today you know next episode, we can just do the rest. So GonNa be a cartoons that we might not know. Don't hurt and this might be controversial. See No, it's going to require a lot of big brain action going on so. For today I one. We have wait before we do that. We We arranged everything in tears. So you know we have guards here, which is s tear? We Have S. A. B. C. D. and S and never watched. So That's pretty much it. For for for show, we have littlest pet shop. At GonNa Fuck. Shop. That was like the one show. That I I mean lean clicked off. Like I know. I'M A guy. I'm not saying that guys wouldn't watch this. You know twenty twenty in A. You know most like. Little Boys weren't raised. Watch this show. Yeah. So. Second Show we have. A show that I watched a decent amount. You know I I'm a whole, even though I still watch cartoons shows. twenty seventeen duck tales. I might give A. Have you ever watched it before Lille. Really. I, didn't really get into I might give it a beer eight year. You know like ducktail had. The really nice during line stays consistent. It's a fun adventure between. Huey Dewey Louie and Fox and scrooge, you know on the adventure to find their mother and the actually. Do you know and couple in the few reese episodes so I wonder what they're going to do now with the plot and shit. To see you know what goes on. Sam I, give it a be. The best one scene, but in terms of modern cartoons. It does it held up pretty well, you know. so the third one for today we got appetizer. That's definitely got that. Here come on as the most finest scroll show in like three days on my God bre. I can't leave bre compared to legend car. It's a piece of fucking Shit. A man I don't even know where to start bre. I'm just saying that if you haven't watched the. Avatar Bender. It's definitely watch. You know it's on Netflix. You can watch it anytime, you know. It's pretty good. You explain it, you know. He came out with fucking icebergs guy six. So next we have Batman the in adult swim. I've never watched it. A show was whack. It is we're putting end easier opening indeed if you're with that. If I could remember an episode. It was just literally retarded. That's the only thing. Okay! So next one. I watched it when I dropped. I hated. It was retarded within cartoon network like it was. That was a swimmer per second. What the? Adult was on the left, but it was unfortunate, but it was was sprayed up Pretoria. Yeah, you know something's transform into adult swim after. So. Nut Show. I think it's a little complicated. It's family guy so about family guy. I'm not sure shows. I don't think he's God's here. Because Modern Family Guy Fault fell off. Like. Old Family. Guy Like we're talking about like og. Family Guy. Like now we talking something but. Modern family guy has like it's really. Can Lose Old Lady. Dusk comes out and You know. I might have to put it up beat here. Yeah I, put it on. Put a beating, yeah! Next says marvel ultimate spider man. Okay, absolutely that Shit. What's?.

Rapper Killer Mike urges calm amid violence in Atlanta

"Today we want to share a speech that will not happy or full of good vibes it does contain important messages it comes from rapper and activist killer Mike Mike render is forty five it has been a long time advocate for his community he's run for local office it is a small business owner in Georgia and of course a recording artist having made five solo albums under the name killer Mike kill my joined Atlanta's mayor and police chief to address the violence that erupted around the protests there over the weekend he served up some wisdom and a call to action take a listen I didn't want to come and I don't want to be here I'm the son of an Atlantic city police officer well my cousin when I see the police officer and mother because he's point please house and I got a lot of love and respect for police officers down to the original eight police offices in Atlanta that even after becoming police had to dress in a YMCA because why the offices didn't want to get dressed with and here we are eight years later I watched a white officer assassinate a black man and have no effect for your heart out and I know it's crippling and I have nothing positive to say Hey moment because I don't want to be here but I'm responsible to be here because wasn't as Dr king and people dressed nicely who marched in protest it to progress this CD and so many other cities it was people like my grandmother people like my aunts and uncles were members SCLC in a double ACP and in particular revenue change orange Mrs Alice Johnson in reference love who just lost last year so I'm duty bound to be here to simply say that it is your duty not to burn your own house panel for anger within him it is your duty to fortify your own house so that you may be a house of refuge in times of organization and now is the time to plot I am strategize organize and mobilize it is time to beat up prosecutors you don't like it the voting booth it is time to hold me oriel offices accountable chiefs and deputy chiefs event is not perfect but we a lot better than we ever were and with a lot better than cities are may as hail I woke up wanting to see the world burned down yes it takes tiger see black beam back he casually put his knee on a human beings neck for nine minutes as he died like a zebra in the clutch of a lion's jaw and we watch it like murder porn over and over again so that's why children the burned to the ground they don't know what else to do and it is responsibility of us to make this better right now we don't want to see one officer charge we want to see what office is prosecuting incentives we don't want to see targets Barney we want to see the system gets synced up with systemic racism barked to the ground and as I see it here in Georgia Thomas Stevens George a former vice president of the confederacy white man see it that long fundamental law stated that whites were naturally disappear you're right in the confederacy was built on a cornerstone of the cornerstone speech looking up the cornerstone speech that blacks will always be so bored that officer believe that speech because he killed that ma'am I can M. in this city offices have done horrendous things and they have been prosecuted the city's cut different in this city you can find over fifty restaurants all about black women I don't say minority and I don't say women of color so after you burn down your own home what do you have left but char and ash see any to get a great thing I love CNN I love Cartoon Network but I'd like to say to CNN right now karma's a mother stop feeding fear and anger every day stop making people feel so fearful give them hope I'm glad they only took down the side of the face the building in a not killing human beings like that policemen the I'm glad that they always destroys a brick in marketing they didn't rip a father from the sun they didn't rip off of someone from a mother like the policemen the when a man yells to his mother interesting paint and she stayed he's essentially yelling please god don't let it happen to me and we watched it so my question for us on the other side of this camera is that the barns what would be left with chart with the rise like a Phoenix out of the ashes that Atlanta has always done we use this at the moment to say that we will not do what other cities have done and in fact we will get better than we've been we got good enough to destroy a cash bonus you don't have to worry about going to jail because I paid we got smart enough to decriminalize marijuana how smart we will be in the next fifteen to twenty years to keep us ahead of this car so that much like with South Africa suffered a part that you had and you know the politicians that could make sure that it let us see a coca Cola we love you but if you don't pull out of South Africa with only we're not gonna drink coca Cola anymore coca Cola truck on a sack in apartheid so we have an opportunity there because I'm not I don't have any good vice but what I can tell you is that if you sit in your homes tonight instead of your home to the ground you will have time to properly plaque plane strategizing organize and mobilize an effective way in two of the most effective ways first take your **** to the computer make sure you fill out the census so that people know who you are and where you are the next thing is making sure you excellent exercise are political body power and going to local elections and beating up the politicians that you don't like you got a prosecutor central part of the jail you know was booked into prosecutor it now now through election to do you want a different senators more progressive that post marijuana through now is the time to do that but it is not time to burn down

HBO Max: we checked it out

"To in the past. It's not give us fifteen bucks. You'll get a whole new world of programming instead it's keep subscribing to the HBO now Streaming Service because we just gave it a face lift and made it a whole lot better. I'm Jefferson Graham. This is talking tech. Let me fill you in Max's. Hbo Plus Movies TV series and cartoons from the Warner Brothers Library. Classic Hollywood and Foreign Films From The T. C. M. Film Library original animation and more now. Hbo Now just got a whole lot better. And for me since I was already subscribing. I have more of a reason to keep it. I like the programming selection. You may like it too if you have an apple TV or google chrome cast streaming device in the house but if you're like most people and get your streaming the a Roku or Amazon fire TV streaming player while you're out of luck for now. At and T. Which owns Warner media? Didn't make a deal with either. So it's either fork over thirty five dollars for chrome cast a hundred and fifty dollars for the Apple. Tv device or watch. Max on one of the newer Sony or Samsung. Tv's here's what you're gonNA find. Hbo IS PROMOTING. Heavily the complete collection of friends and the Big Bang theory at the top of the front. Page the Harry Potter films and others from the Warner Brothers Library including man and wonder woman Max is broken up into several hubs. This includes looney tunes cartoons. Adult swim in the cartoon network. Hbo MTC 'em some hubs are better than others. T is fully featured with classics Galore. Like the wizard of Oz gone with the wind and I really love this. The Complete Charlie Chaplin Film Collection Cartoon Network has just a handful of series like the power puff girls and dexterous laboratory. But it's missing some key titles like Johnny Bravo and courage the cowardly dog unlike the recent Disney plus launch which had hundreds of vintage animation from the bolt along with four current titles. Max has many of the best of bugs bunny porky pig and gang including a duck amuck corny concerto in gorilla my dreams but a big emission at least on the first day is the greatest looney tunes cartoon ever made. What's Opera Doc the? Hbo Hub is basically HBO now with. Yes. Every episode of Game of thrones the Sopranos Kirby enthusiasm plus more. But if you're looking for something outside of those hubs navigation is tough for instance. Max promised classics from the Hanna Barbera Library like the Flintstones and the jetsons an episode of Conan from the TBS Library

"When all of you guys are in an apartment I get that to Iceland with all my cousins you just live where you can live right everybody's trying to to to have enough money to pay rent sometimes you gotta make your move together a bunch bunches lived in a trailer for a while much of a bunch of apartment so like I get that and also know me I was the kid in the group that was I'm going to get out and I'm GONNA use education like that was my thing it sounds like yours was music music way early yeah the first deal now seven you what am I doing I was seven years old and and how did that come about and how did you get to a place where someone could see you at seven to go I like that kid man that's a good question I I never really got to say I never asked that question I just know that we were were recording in new records like just like that I just remember who it seven years old discovers you it was new star Rex Guy by the name of Anthony Richardson an owner if he discovers somebody took us to him you know what I'm saying I really can't remember how it happened you're seven years old yeah I just know we were singing recording practicing going to school we by the way me my brothers okay so you were you guys like in a singing group group how many were there called times three because it was three of us are brothers and it was just the X. would apostrophe S. three where were you in the age group of the three brothers I'm in the Middle Okay Yeah and so you got with the goal of of what I know you're only seven but looking back were they trying to break you guys as like Jackson five but the X. as the three more so like another bad the creation can meet some singing brothers because we really saying like you know what I'm saying but Jackson five it was that would have been harder doesn't file there man they weren't legislator after they were legendary though they had to even start at yeah but I'm just saying like by the time we you were yeah they were already like Jackson Five. ABC's good like another bell vo to all those groups were around that time to where all you guys just singing because hip hop stuff to just thinking and I was the wraparound the group so wait were you rapping I was like the the the but if from immature who are the sexy talking I did the sexist seven and eight I'm telling you you know all this time I've been playing around Oh yeah I've been playing with my gi Joe's and pogs girl and I've been thinking about you I know I'm nine man that is hilarious I know I'm in third grade girl but I'm drinking milk yeah so that's kind of how growing up I was I didn't how to confidence to sing so they will give me the parts while I was more like mellow talking Canada rapin Canada singing Adams found my singing voice until like fifteen sixteen so you're fifteen sixteen are you still in school yeah definitely graduate high school yet okay so you're singing all the way through high school all the we are you known as that kid the kid in high school like we're all noticed something I was nerd I was known as the singer Okay so you're singing all the way through and as you go through up until about twelve th grade at that point what is your biggest break before you graduate high school Aw I mean we met with a guy named Dr Massenburg he was over at motown and we were about to do a deal met him at the Intercontinental Embark Eh right by mall he looked me my brothers and my mother in the face a y'all have no words Mama they've been able to take care everything we won't sign wing you sat like two weeks later found out he was no longer with Motown town that was one of the moments that was like a huge moment and then do you think he lied to your do you think he got fired in the process of signing you on if you got fire of he just some happen where he just left but I just know the deal didn't happen right and after that outkast we don't want to deal with outkast you know it was you know at that term life they would just a dope group whose from Atlanta like Guy and I remember me with them and they wanted to sign my younger brother to a solo deal so he's going to do a solo deal and then you know me and my older brother like okay cool ooh that'd be fine once he gets all the way where he needs to be he he brings home and then that didn't go away we plan to either you know what I'm saying they're signing him he ended up signing to a whole another deal and he came up with a song or a few songs and yeah I mean what what what when you meet with outkast do you actually meet with Andrei Big Boy Yep like the guy show up and they're like all right this is the plant so they were doing things outside side of outcasts way early even before they blew up they were they will Purple Label and my dad actually just takes me that pitchy like two days ago and my phone like of us in the same room with them without shirts on taking pieces with them yeah so that didn't work out you graduate High School Yep and what's the plan then for you musically 'cause high school probably big deal to graduate high school what's for me where am I hold my whole life I was told you know stick to my art I went to school for art I got a Bachelor of fine arts in so we're not college though from high school to College Okay Okay so you then you decide to go to school where are you going to school where did you go to school I went to you okay and your thought when you go to college is Blank Finish College or learn music or make friends and my really my thought would college was be the person that went to college and if that don't work out just note that music is always number one either way I went down just you know pretty much as their are had degree and what did you study in school art so you study art but you're doing music yup okay so you're studying well what does it what does study aren't though what does that mean I mean I mean you go through all our theory in like paintings yet I sculptures like an op the not even music like you're a whole different track I I did I did all that like sculpturing and websites from dream we would Mac with three D. and do all that so even less than digital art stuff too yep and then if you were to have this let's just journey off a bit and let's say the music stub you end up getting an art degree if you were to pursue that what would you have done an art Oh man you know cartoon network or something yeah voice overs with some animations I could tell just Bella anything you can yeah a Squirrel Squirrel Squirrel pretty good duck one one one one more minute okay let's do more does it isn't an easy one how about a platypus because we have no idea what applaud sounds like I don't know okay maybe but earnestly XLII music was always the forefront but I didn't have confidence to do it I didn't have the confidence in myself so I just I just wanted to figure out how to be a part of it I started engineer straight out of college I started engineering so like the sound engineering so if you're listening right now what that is you had a computer and and you're basically adjusting the levels of everything to break it down like a five years old so your your engineering music and where do you learn those skills to be a music engineer one of my homies hey daryl showed me how to use the controls twenty four and I start messing around with it and then next thing you know I was engineering engineering recording for the Wow Gospel compilations and stuff dip set itself taught yet your friend just said here here here's the kind of how to do it then you just took an indigenous

We finally get to see what Disney Plus is all about (The 3:59, Ep. 543)

"Three fifty nine or mortgaging. I'm I'm or finally gonna get some details on the highly anticipated Disney, plus streaming video service. Disney is planning to hold a shareholder event to show off service later today. And hopefully, give us a glimpse of some of the projects in the works. We we know there's a metal orienteer- is out. That's already in the works. There are shows potentially around Hawkeye winter soldier and falcon LOKI not to mention all the Pixar and Disney legacy stuff and going forward. All all the Disney movies will be streamed exclusively on the service. Look just give me the Simpsons as like its own streaming service. Only the Simpson you pay for that. Yeah. Well, x already has actually new Disney owns ox, right? So they could they can incorporate the Simpsons into the bottle bundled service. Yeah. Just gimme a like. I always enjoyed boomerang that like throwback Cartoon Network. Yeah. If they just had that with like throwback, Disney and car. Tunes on the Simpsons. Like, that's I can see myself. Is there price you'd pay for this Irving, like five bucks? Wow, cheap. Yeah. We don't know the prices. Hopefully, we get some details on the pricing. Netflix right now is right around thirteen or so I think it's like the main price so or fifteen so the price they Jack the price up. So we know that Disney has said the price will be lower a little bit lower than the Netflix. Charged. But obviously the catalog or the smaller the will see we'll keep the keep up today with with all details from Joan at the event the big story this morning, Julius on getting arrested now the Ecuadorian withdrawn its asylum. You got the details going on. So he was Ecuador's withdrawn its asylum, and then he was arrested by UK police over skipping his bail in twenty twelve and along with that the US is also trying to extradite him over hacking charges up from two thousand ten they're alleging that he had helped Chelsea Manning hack. Basically department of defense documents sh she had sent over a password to him that the hashed password and asked for basically tried getting his help to to hack in log into it to get more documents. He's also being accused of trying to elicit more documents out of Chelsea Manning, which is very different than what a journalist, Anna. Would do like you can't you. It's not really protect continue soliciting those documents. They're arguing that this is this basically falls under espionage. And you're just listening to Assange, his lawyer talk. Yes. And talk little of the defense that the plan to use. So they have essentially dismissed these hacking charges. They're saying that that's just a small element of what Julian Assange has done. This is an attack on the press. This is not charge surrounding computer hacking or anything like that. But obviously, the US government has very different things to say about that. Right. All right. Amazon workers are potentially listening on your Alexa conversations. What's what's this about? I mean, it's not potentially. They are. It's it's there. They already may not listen to your exact converse. Yes. So Bloomberg came out with a report yesterday with spoken up to seven employees of at Amazon that work on the Alexa team, and they're actively listening into conversations, but it's not like live like. It's not like the moment. You say recorded recorded commands to Alexa, that sometimes you might not like it might not understand correctly. So it's kinda like a transcription service where they listen to it. And if the computer if Alexa gets it wrong, they kinda just type out to say like listen, oh, he meant to say Taylor swift three meant to say put all right, right? Something else. The problem with that is that there they've been talking about these conversations recorded conversations internally within internal chatrooms. And there been some scenarios that are really if he so there was one case where they had heard a potential sexual assault happening oggi's, and they wanted to report it to police in an Amazon worker had basically stopped that inside. You know, this is not a place Ramdan to interfere. But yeah, there are real people listening to these conversations that you're having with your device, which is a major privacy concern for many. Yep. Definitely a Lhasa checkout. Derek or second piece looking at the use of tech on. On the border. And effectively said here, you go up put you in pictures. There is no indication that he forced the issue if you put out I'll put you in pictures now just that he had an affair with her. And then tried to get her cast in movies, and that is alone that enough in this day and age I had this happened five years ago. We'll see he just got a promotion. He had an expanded role overseeing animation at the company, including Cartoon Network adult swim. And now they're saying I'd love to know what he made last year. And I'll bet you it had to be in the tens of millions of dollars. I'm sure had to be. All right. Let's go ahead and take a break. And then we'll finish up a handle on the news. Why are you looking? "And and then it'd be on its why the guy who directed last house on the left of the new one you guys ever see that movie. Yeah. To horror thriller is pretty pretty brutal movie. Similarly, there's some brutality in this movie as well. But it's just crazy. 'cause I that's a movie that I love that kind of movie, right? Triangle, right movies or time crimes? We played with time and stuff like that. And I never heard of this movie. But if that's remotely interesting to you. I can't match the movie, but it is a cool concept and the movie is called plus one it's directed by Dennis Elliott, and you can find video and platform. So that's another kind of time bending movie. I happen to watch this week is the same week. I watched Russian doll. But the overall sounds like you're having good time. You're gonna you're gonna get all the way to the end of Russian doll. It's a blast. Like, I've talked to people who just basically watched the entire thing in one night because it's what it's affectively hours. Yeah. It's easy easy to do so much fun. And I would say don't reviews. Don't don't go read anything about it. Just kind of go experience at right now. Very cool. That's russians. All it's on Netflix right now. Dig your anything else you'd be watching. Yeah. Quick shout out to Steven universe. Just finished season five. I raced to catch up everything. This is the Cartoon Network show by Rebecca sugar about a boy name Steven and these super powered aliens he kinda teams up with to save the world. On a daily basis. It's really fun show. I've talked about before it's so much fun such a blast. And this is also show with like a deep mythology similar like avatar last year bender or something and this season. They kind of go all in on it kind of goes cosmic. It just wanna say if you've started seeing universe and kind of fell off. It is definitely worth picking it backup. It's a series. That's kind of there's so many like anime references in here to kind of love when an American show ends up doing that. Because I'm of the generation that grew up watching your major enemy movies. And I love seeing these craters who kind of have that same experience kind of apply to their own art as well. Yeah. And season five like we're getting some cure here. We're getting some like crazy voltron action from universe, and it's a ton of fun. And also, I just love the message of the show. It's always been about inclusivity and good winning over evil. And this is definitely a show where you know, let's allow. The villains end up becoming friends in some ways or allies. And I think that's a really important message for today. So really big that check it all out. It's on-demand. If you have a Cartoon Network. I don't think it's think Hulu has the first four seasons right now. So you'd have to catch up and season five some other way. But yeah, you can watch it on Hulu up until season five. All right that Steven universe and it's available on demand right now. And that is the end of Verschoor watching segment this week. We got a lot more to get to. So let's get to our next segment the slash court..

"But we fortunately have a very very talented staff and crew that makes us. Abel's us to to hopefully, pull it off every week. I mentioned the family guy went on hiatus in two thousand two came back in two thousand five here. We are in two thousand nineteen why is this show lasted so long. Steve hiatus is a very kind. With straight straight up cancelled. You know, it's interesting we give so much of the credit for that to our fans, and we are so grateful to them because and I'm sure, you know, many listeners might know the story, but for those who don't, you know, the show bounce around in. I think six or seven different time slots over the first couple of seasons of the show and people I think just couldn't find it. Or didn't wanna watch it or whatever what for whatever reason to ratings ticking down down down to two point where that were cancelled it, and at that time we were about two and a half seasons in we had fifty episodes that we had produced we're now over three hundred, but so they took those fifty episodes, and you know, to be quite cynical about it. They I think they just kind of wanted to squeeze as much more money out of what they thought was a failed show as they could. And they put those episodes on DVD and hope to sell one hundred thousand DVD's and it sold over three million DVD's in the first year alone. And at the. The same time. They also put those reruns or sold the rerun rights for those fifty episodes to the Cartoon Network, and it immediately became one of the highest rated shows and history Cartoon Network. And so I've been told that it's the first time that the same network that cancel the show. Brought it back. There have been instances where one network might cancel share another one like that. But I think this is the first time that that the same that we're gonna cancel that reversed course, and it really was solely because I think they realized oh there's an appetite for the show there. There is an audience out there, and they were not just through people buying the DVD's and watching reruns, and you know, we heard anecdote after anecdote of people showing the episodes to their friends on DVD, or you know, I I just think that ironically, the show actually grew in popularity more when it was not in production and not running episodes on FOX, then when it had been on prior to that. So we all came back to work after the show went off the air for a few years kinda crossing our fingers and hoping that anyone even still care to remember the show. Oh into our relief. And again because we've been working on the show for about a year sort of hoping that the public was still going to be there for us. And when the show came back with sort of reprint neared in two thousand five the ratings were more than twice what they've ever been. Yeah. Yeah. Quite seriously. "It's longer than people might think and most of the time is devoted to actually animating it. So it actually takes a little over a year for each episode to be produced from the idea that one of the writers might say what are we doing episode about? L Griffin's go to France or whether or not that we've done that episode from the point of someone having an idea for an episode to being ready to broadcast a little over a year. So it's it's challenging it makes makes us really have to think carefully about the timeliness of certain storylines that are proposed. You know, sometimes someone might pitch an idea for an episode that seems really funny, but by the time, it makes it to air, it might feel a little stale. And so we try to be timely when and where we can usually we try to do that within the context of like a particular gag or pick or cut away or flashback, or if we do maybe an issue oriented show, we will try to pick it an issue that it's perennial. You know, something like the abortion issue, or we didn't upset repeater joined the tea party, you know, things that aren't necessarily tied to events that are ripped from the headlines, but things that will stand the test of time, but it also from a production standpoint is interesting and challenging because we have to be thinking about final. Tweaks for show that's gonna air in a in a week or two and the Christmas episode of twenty twenty and everything in between so balls keeping the air. But we fortunately have a very very talented staff crew that makes us enables us to to hopefully pull it off every week. I mean, you're you're known scarf wearer. Well, we do put some wigs on you in both videos, although I've done the long curly hair wig. There's still time to put you in a wig along curly wig, Ted always time. Always for me to be the adult that I wanted to be. So the podcast today. A Rebecca sugar. I just think she's so fascinating does so many different things. And also, she's apparently big fan of my music, which I sense a little bit of jealousy on your part. And I'm wondering since I know that you are editing the episodes, I'm wondering if he left any that. And so I just wanna make sure that gets in at the beginning. Well, you know, what you'll have to listen when this eventually comes out and see I'm not even gonna send you you will listen you will enjoy the Melih fluid voice of. Rebecca sugar who we all know from work with venture time. And of course, our own creations Steven universe, which has been on the Cartoon Network for five seasons now and for those who haven't seen it. This is probably a good time for me to tell you about it. It's an incredibly charming ongoing story about a number of aliens who represent the harnessed powers of certain gemstones, one of them along with human has created a hybrid child named Stephen. And while they're trying to stave off whatever dangers are being flung at earth from the outer reaches of the universe. They are also trying to figure out what it means to be family, and how to raise a conscientious compassionate human being who may wind up being extremely powerful. And it's my impression that they're trying to prepare him. So that when he comes into his power, he will in fact know, how to use it. And when you have listened to us discuss all that and more and just for the sake of clarification, you meaning you me and the audience us, meaning you. And Rebecca sugar, then you will see if any of that, Amy man praise content gets left in the episode. I'm just just making sure that the people know, you know, on the on off chance that you have a heavy hand in the know. Are leaving tape on the cutting room floor. I hope you're proud of the adult that you've become. I'm going to go put a scarf on my head now and then come back, and we'll talk to Rebecca sugar. Welcome to you Rebecca sugar. And I want to jump on something we were talking about before we began recording, which is the broad appeal of Steven universe and it being mainly geared toward young people. But also designed at the outset for adults to find something in or is it just that it winds up being smart and funny enough, and I'm not just I'm not just saying that that adults find something in it..

Like, those those creators a baba was the guy from Cartoon Network. The president of oh, God, I'm blanking out on it. But but, but basically, you know. You know? I it wasn't until he's like, okay. And I went to Instagram and the first thing that I saw on Instagram was Rebecca's post of the concept art for their new home. Pearl. Her new motorcycle jacket. I was like God. Thank you Lord. You know, what I said that I was going to start. I was going to open my mouth, and I was gonna start at knowledge ING, all of the blessings may bigger small, and I'm going to acknowledge this big win. Because a what an episode we already talked about be. I hate should. I like being spoiled for me period. I gotta catch up on smarter. I'm about to get that should spoil. Yeah. You probably because it's so. I don't know who I want to say it's a rise in thing. I think so I don't know. But it's sounds like it sounds like Cartoon Network was like, we're airing the fucking movie, I recently, and so maybe maybe somebody I don't know. I don't know how that works. I don't either. But y'all pissed it showed up just found on my DVR. I would have been so mad edge if somebody had ruined up city infamy. And then I try to be slick, right? So because usually Amazon might not send you the episode Elson is like millenial, maybe midnight, sometimes like a few hours after midnight or whatever. And so I was like all right. I'm going to record the hour after the case at after that Steven universe on the spot said samurai, Jack, and then maybe American dad or some adult swim shape. So they all right. I'm gonna record those two because they should be Steven universe. Right. So the whole thing goes off, I wait till nine o'clock then so that I can jump into the DVR hit play samurai, Jack. They played the who they didn't even hear it who is responsible somebody played a game. And if it happened to any of y'all if you're as big of a fan as I am, and it happened to you, and you did get something spoiled. I believe that you deserve compensation. I'll know if they can credit account 'cause let me tell you something I would have fully called variety. I don't know what she's about to do about this Bill. I'm just not going to. I don't understand how they're airing two different pieces of programming at the same time the differences simply resolution, it's not. It's not meant for anybody else. And maybe if you see it on the outside, and you like it and you pick up on it, then hey, that's a plus. But you know, you can't I don't even think she even rate this because surely forwards it's bans out there. It's everything they want. You saw somebody saw two times already in a theater. So I mean, that's definitely the price probably better than sex the only sex. They've had..

"It says he's is that what they do. Good job is the first third of the movie, they do enough even for Corean for people who don't really watch the enemy kinda give you the cliff notes of it. Okay. Right. Or they're like, okay. This is the same plant was a good setup. Yeah. I mean, they really I won't say that's the problems that they they suck me in and then and then they just it was almost like I was a got it. And then they say his the rest of the story, and he took a big as book and just dropped on my. Head. Because as soon as you see Goku father Bartok. That's like, hey, go go to earth and you protect them, right? They pretty much do a montage of. Here's what happens in twenty years, which is the entire history of dragon ball z. So now when you fast forward to here, we are forty one years later. Yes, you know, Goku Geeta, and you know, all these other people if you follow the enemy like that's the thing. So what got people really excited about this movie? Is that it now pretty much verbatim continues on with the ending of dragon ball super which ended earlier in twenty eighteen see that means nothing to me. Yeah. No, no. But you know, but I want you to explain it for sure because you know, it reminds me of the enemy that saw used to these these Pokemon movies that will come out back in the day. I never played poke mine, and I saw every Pokemon movie in a never understood what the hell was happening. But I never walked up mad. And I even think that this does a good job at like. Hey, look, let's just say for in the US today. You know, dragged you into this comes on television. Hour and a half. It moves fast enough to where it's you don't have to dwell on a lot of story for sure I mean, it is crazy. Don't get me wrong. I don't know. Like, I said, I don't know what version of earth that is I don't there were moments. I don't even know what kit like all of a sudden cared came in no way like this green character right here. Don't know where she came from. And I was paying attention. No. She was no she was in the movie time. We are. Yeah. Okay. It's not it's not a bad experience leg doing legal drugs. Like, it's like it's like I was having a trip, man. I mean, and it helps that his fast paced. I would say that. I would say that that, you know. Would animate. Either things made that is just a cultural thing that doesn't translate too. Well, all the time and in these characters, they you know. The the the dramatic monologue. You know because. Like like the scene where? Sung it sent away. It was out. Like, you got rid of my son? I'm a save him. It's like you get rid of my son. He's. And I would have people. If he's not yelling you can catch him. Always got those Baynes coming out the next their heads. And it was like. That's one of the things with a lot of animates. And maybe that's why I didn't watch dragon bones because that's a that's just a preference man for not. I'm not saying it's wrong. A lot of people raise with net net. Or no, I mean, here's the thing. And this is were tied Corey to house in our and just schooled him on dragon ball z like dragon ball made revolution is like the godfather of an maze for the west dragon ball made inmate thing in America for beta that that. Listen. Yeah. I mean, you have the more older ones. But it wasn't until two NAMI and Cartoon Network started doing their Saturday morning or Saturday morning. There's there Saturday block right from phone from four to six right where you had the sailor moons into dragon ball z. And that's how it started pretty much becoming more popular can argue that in saying that things like gigantic or Robotech speed racer of. That battle the planets..

"You really are throwing into every character. That's what makes it. Good voice, actor any type of anything. What makes good accountant? Yeah. Janitor, whatever halfway boy. I saw an accountant my mother took me to some office. And I saw the greatest accountant I ever saw my life. And I swore up and down on a stack upheavals that. I would be just like him. Exactly, right. This makes sense. It's like you've got to be conscientious about anything and everything right? Really before we get into the episode just in terms of of other extremely funny female talents. I just wanted to call out Natalie Palomino does shop she I I would love for you to look her up because you're going to be blown away and totally smitten by her she plays everything. And she she gets down and dirty that she stunt shows where she gets fully naked wrestles. A man dressed as a man herself in it is it's. It's. Cool. So she's going visually and an audio. Yeah. Yeah. She does range ranges she like a little kid. And then yeah, players actually is one of the voices of the power puff girls in the current reboot of power puff girls on Cartoon Network. You get a writer named dumb because. You will turn out I need to make you feel good like for for our listeners as well. And not just with people in this room. You gotta look Nellie penalty. Does she was in town as which? Julia wrote and directed I just wrote it and created it. Well, you let your direction sneak in that anyway, directed it. But yeah, it's a show. It's the the old west it's about the horny teams of the pioneer era. And she played the lead team. Cool. Maybe. Yeah. It's it's so much fun there. It's nice to see that. There are people that are still going at it so hard -absolutely, if you're ever feeling depressed about the state of the world are still a lot of really cool entertainers that make it a little bit more fun. So let's actually take a quick break. And then we're gonna get into the episode itself. Have fun y'all..

"And then it's like, yeah. The doctors dodger says I. Yeah. I need to is my knee now or something's I okay. How long do I do that? Until it's better. Now, it's forever. You just do that. Now, it's just like that. Like, it's that kind of humor to say. I just bring it up because it's it's not the case that like he was always this offensive shock, jock, whatever. And that's why it was funny, and you're a hypocritic now, you don't like that his target was transpeople or whatever. It's like, no. That's not at all for me. Anyway, what what it was what I thought about myself is that I I realized very recently because I've been watching more stand up comedy because I've net flex is that I prefer comedians who tell stories I don't like the punchline Saddam here sign it really boring and a good story can be funny. But also just be a good story. Yeah. I totally agree with that. And it's so he could do that. I think. Yeah. And so I wanted to talk to you about what you thought of I guess the the article and kind of resetting. Back to twenty seventeen little bit the article in how he dealt with it. And how he I I mean, given if you were Plum plop, down in two thousand seventeen with Louis CK's past you know, like how would you try to deal with that or how could one or can you do you just quit life? I don't know. Yeah. I may I still think that the gold standard is the Dan Harmon admission you recently talked about on this show. So I think we can probably have people just refer back of couple episodes when you talked about that. But yeah, sorry. And so in terms of owning what you didn't understand what was important about. The Dan Harmon discussion was one he owned what he did. He also owned the pain that he caused the person and the pain he caused people around him because he was sort of like pursuing this thing in not being not criticizing himself, not looking at himself, and then owning those failings and what he did wrong. And just saying, I'm I'm so sorry, and I've learned so much from what I've done wrong that I will definitely not be doing it again and his career is gone on. He's got like a contract with the whatever the Cartoon Network or at Evers in the state. So I do think it's it's definitely possible. But with Louis he just if felt initially with. The metoo movement. I think it was mostly almost like PR companies were advising guys what to say without really understanding what the audience or what the public needed anymore. So like Spacey own also, I'm gay come do seriously. And then Louis CK's mostly talking about himself and other people too. And I think his head. He said his apology and now he can just get on with it. And there's a disconnect because part of his audience is saying, yeah, come back Louis. We miss you and society at large is like, isn't that the guy who took a stick out in front of women? He had power over..
