"The big money issues in the world of sports. I'm scarlet fu with Damien sasar and Michael Barr. Coming up, we're going to get you ready for The Kentucky Derby next weekend. Can I get a bugle? Damian? I don't know if I can make a vehicle mask. All right, the sea of Churchill downs builds, horst engine will be joining us. But first, let's get you more of our conversation with one Carson Palmer, the former NFL all pro quarterback, he was with us in studio. You know, you went through some issues back with Cincinnati ownership back in the day, right? If I'm not mistaken, I mean, how hard is it for a quarterback to play for a team where he just doesn't respect ownership? He doesn't like management. They don't get along. I mean, he was almost forced into retirement as well. So I mean, do you think the Aaron Rodgers that's coming to the jets can be the Aaron Rodgers vault? Well, I think there's a handful of quarterbacks that when I watch play, I say, wow. Aaron Rodgers at the top of the list. So you've got that kind of talent organizationally coming in for the jets. You got to be ready to deal with Aaron Rodgers. He is not, you know, super easy to deal with. Let's be honest. There is there is some expectations. There are some things he wants to weigh in on. He wants a little piece of the roster. He wants a little piece of what they're doing in free agency and the draft, and they weren't willing to give him that in Green Bay, and unfortunately it didn't work out. The Jets have to be ready to give him a little bit. Give him a little say in this. Give him a little saying that. And so you have to be ready to take on that kind of talent to also be ready to take on that kind of attitude and that kind of ego because that ego changes that building. It changes that organization. You know, Aaron Rodgers is often cited as one of the best mobile quarterbacks. And mobile quarterbacks are really having a moment right now compared to pocket passers. What do you think is better provides better value in the current NFL environment right now? Great question. It is really challenging to watch a quarterback get hit. And when you watch Josh Allen and you watch some of these bigger, more physical running quarterbacks take these hits every time he takes off and exposes his body. He's exposing the organization. And so Aaron really over the last 5 or 6 years has really slowed down his outside the pocket game. He is really trying to win the game and play the game inside the pocket. But when these quarterbacks get on the run and they go taking online, maybe watch Josh Allen. He's a great example. He tries to run through linebackers. He tries to run over defensive linemen. And every time he's doing that, that organization and that team is susceptible to maybe not having that quarterback for the rest of the season. I get very stressed watching him run. It's hard. It's hard to do. If you were the owner, I just imagined being the owner and every time he takes it to get 6 yards, was that 6 yards worth putting our organization exposing our organization. And so there's so many good young quarterbacks that are fast and quick and can run. And the older guys like myself, Tom Brady's, Drew Brees, guys, that played the game from inside the quarterback. Those guys, you know, they're not all the rage right now. They're not all the excitement, the excitement is you want the guy that can run, but at the end of the day, when you look at the most successful quarterbacks in this league, Drew Brees zones every passing record, Tom Tom Brady owns every record as far as wins and championships. Those guys did it inside the pocket. Those guys did not ever do it outside the pocket. At the end of the day, when it comes down to winning the big game, you've got to beat teams from stepping up in the pocket and delivering the ball accurately downfield. That's how you win championships. Peyton Manning proved it. Eli did it a couple of times. Tom Brady did a couple times more than a couple of times. But that's where the gain is still one when it comes down to it. So maybe that's the way into the league to be one of those mobile quarterbacks and then you evolve into a pocket passer. You've got to have that in your game. When it comes down to it, it's third and 7, you've got to recognize the defense. Get your offense in the right play at the line of scrimmage and step up in the pocket and deliver the ball accurately. The team is paying other people to take off and run with it. The team is paying the running backs and the receivers and the skill position players at the end of the day, you just, the proof's in the pudding, look at what Tom Brady did. Look at the amount of championships. He never did it from outside the pocket. I mean, Carson, if you just think about the draft, tell us what these athletes are doing to prepare. What did you do back in 2003 to prepare the draft? Mine was different. I knew I had already signed a contract with the Bengals prior to the draft. And so the word was out. I think I signed it two or three days before the draft. And so, you know, as the number one, as the number one pick, you're sitting in the green room with everybody else. Normally you don't know who's going number one. You have an idea, but they knew. And so commissioner Paul tagliabue comes out to the stage and he says, with the Cincinnati Bengals, you know, 2003, you are on the clock and then he walks away. And everybody in Radio City Music Hall was pissed, they were like, no, we already know you're going to start the clock and let's not waste 15 minutes. Let's get to the number two pick. So all of a sudden they're boo and tagliabue, they're booing this long. I've already signed the deal's done, just announced it during the second pick. And so everybody insides booing that I walk on the stage, they're still booing. Like, man, welcome to NFL. Here's my moment. From great questions, the stupid questions. When you were with USC, did you wish there was NIL? And I'm sure the answer could be no, man. I don't want the money. In fact, I pay. They are get today's college athletes and God bless them, quite frankly. It's like they're getting the money that they deserve. So my senior year in college, no NIL deals. I think my stipend check was like $346 a month. I lived in a four bedroom, absolute dump. With 8 other dudes in the football team, we were splitting rooms in the hood. We had rats. We had spiders. I think I had a mattress on the ground, and we were scraping by. So absolutely. Yes, I wish there was a deal, but my senior year, you know, I had won the Heisman. We had won a bunch of games. There was 90,000 people in the stands every week at the coliseum in downtown LA and we were still making $346 a month. So yes, I wish there was an IL. Oh man, that's great. When you look at this new crop of college athletes becoming future professional football players, what is it that you would advise them when it comes to thinking through their career arc, not just the first team they sign with, but kind of planning out their career into life after the league. I just think your team is so important and not the football team that you're playing for. It's the team that individuals around you as you're building your business and your brand. So having a great financial adviser, one because as soon as you as soon as your name is called on draft day, everybody's got a new product, a new idea, a new investment, a new pitch. And

"Is trading him the right thing for your team? Forget about him. Why is it the right thing for you guys? Yeah, I think we're our team is that obviously it earns up there in age and has however many years he has. I think he's got some really good football left in him. But I think for us, it was just as we got through the off season and started talking about where we wanted to go. This made a little bit of sense for us. We wanted to get his input like I've told you guys in the past and would have loved to have that and kind of see what he sat with that. That didn't happen. That was a little bit unfortunate and disappointing for me. But at the same time, I just think, as we move forward, we're really excited where Jordan can go. He needs to play. And having him sit another year, I think, would really delayed kind of where we're going and what we're trying to build. That's right. He's got to play. What happens now? Guy who owns the bears is living in New York. What happens now? Packers are going to have to play a football game. I know this is tough for Green Bay fans to handle. You're going to have to play a game and the NFL without a quarterback. Who you know is going to the Hall of Fame. It's very, very, very rare form. Dare I say what I said to you. And forever. Dare I say what I said to you when Brady went to Tampa. Welcome to the rest of us. Maybe you're going to have to go get a veteran quarterback because the kid that you're putting your eggs in the basket isn't ready for prime time. I think Jordan love is going to play well. I do like what I say. And I do think this is the right move for the packers. How about that? Because we talked about far of maybe walking in to the locker room on occasion, feeling like that Steve Buscemi meme from the, what, from the Sandler film? Well, how are we doing today, fellow youths? He's kind of aged out of that locker room, and he might feel like it's not his place anymore, and he certainly didn't have a relationship with the front office and maybe not trusted him anymore. I was just <Speech_Male> saying that, <Speech_Male> you know. <Speech_Male> Let me say this. <Speech_Male> We've been very <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> jet centric on <Speech_Male> the subject matter all that. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But let's not forget, <Speech_Male> there's a team that <Speech_Male> just traded away. <Speech_Male> They're <Speech_Male> arguably all time <Speech_Male> best quarterback. <Speech_Male> All due respect to Bart <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> Favre in Brett Favre, <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> Bart Starr. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> Brett star. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> All due respect <SpeakerChange> to them. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Silence> <Speech_Male> Because <Speech_Male> everybody's focused <Speech_Male> on the Jackson rightfully <Speech_Male> so. <Speech_Male> I get <SpeakerChange> it. <Silence> <Speech_Male> 'cause we're all <Speech_Male> putting our <SpeakerChange> eggs <Speech_Male> in a basket, <Speech_Male> you know, <Speech_Male> was in a darkness <Speech_Male> cave and was thinking <Speech_Male> of that basket was <Speech_Male> thinking 90% <Speech_Male> retirement and <Speech_Male> there's <Speech_Male> a lot that comes <Speech_Male> with the number <Speech_Male> 12 now number <Silence> 8. what about <Speech_Male> the team that just flipped <Speech_Male> him <Speech_Male> to the jets? <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Music> <Speech_Male> Brian <Speech_Male> gutekunst, first <Speech_Male> and foremost, <Speech_Male> did a <Speech_Male> great job. That's <Speech_Male> phenomenal. <SpeakerChange> <Silence> <Speech_Male> Certainly if <Speech_Male> everybody <Speech_Male> keeps saying, <Speech_Male> Caleb Williams <Speech_Male> and Drake mayor <Speech_Male> in next year <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> you need firepower to <Speech_Male> go up and get them and <Speech_Male> every single time I hear <Speech_Male> that, I'm like, well, <Speech_Male> you're assuming there's <Speech_Male> going to be somebody sitting at the <Speech_Male> top of the draft that's not <Speech_Male> interested in those guys <Speech_Male> also. <Silence> <Speech_Music_Male> But <Silence> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> nice move. <Silence> <Advertisement> <Speech_Male> Kudos to Kurt <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> coins because he got <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> a great deal <Speech_Male> for a guy <Speech_Male> pushing 40 who said, <Speech_Male> I don't have an <Speech_Male> intention to play somewhere <Speech_Male> else and I'm <Speech_Male> 90% retired <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> with whom he <Speech_Male> has no relationship. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> As evidenced <Speech_Male> by the <Speech_Male> exchange with <Speech_Male> the media, <SpeakerChange> <Silence> <Speech_Male> roll it. <Speech_Male> Have you talked to Aaron <Speech_Male> involved or was this <Speech_Male> strictly done just through the <Speech_Male> 80s? When I said a lot of shampoo and it takes Zach Wilson and you again poo pooed me. How did you say the baby listen to me? Because you were also saying, you know, Mike white your guy. Chris, was that wrong? He was the guy. My wife was a good player. Guess what? Guess what? He's backing up to and the Jets have Aaron Rodgers. Let's go. What happens if tua gets hurt? I'm not wishing that my body comes out of retirement. You say Mike white has to go play the jets. What gets hurt? And then he went to a gets hurt. Oh, let's hope that doesn't happen. "Not where I'm at now. They're softening my cold little heart and I like to see that. All right, Connor writes it and says, hey Zack, a simple question but a fun one. As you had three football wishes, what would they be and why? By the way, you can choose literally anything football related. Could be about your career, could be about someone else's career, rules, college recruiting, the NFL Draft. I think you get the point. Anyways, loving the show is always keep up the good work. Connor, I love this question. Can I actually start by saying this? I would really, maybe this is a good prompt for a Patreon shell. Me asking you guys what your football wishes are, because that would be really fun. I want to hear your guys hypotheticals. Your guys dreams. The stuff you guys wish had happened or which could happen. In the football world. Anything, any kind of wish you can think of would be really fun to talk about on the podcast. So I think at some point I want to turn this around actually on the audience and hear what you guys have to say about this topic. I got, I actually have 6 dreams I'm going to talk about. Or which is maybe it's better to put it like you said. The first three are about other people, the last three are about myself. So and the ones about myself are a little more personal and I'm hesitant to share, but I will. But let's talk about the big ones first. Wish number one, I would have loved to see Carson Palmer or Philip Rivers win a Super Bowl. But especially Carson Palmer man, I really admire and really like and thought was way better than people realized. And I still to this day wish I could have seen Carson Palmer win a Super Bowl. He had a shot, he got close, but that makes me sad. So that's wish number one. One of those two guys, I wish it had, we would view Carson poem are so differently, if he'd won a Super Bowl in his career. I really believe that. I thought he was hamstrung by a bad organization in Cincinnati. It's a different Cincinnati now apparently. But man, oh man, I so badly would love to see one of those two legendary quarterbacks. Philip Rivers or Carson Palmer winning Super Bowl because I thought they had careers worthy of that even if they never reached it themselves. Now Gardner minshew is a person I want to share with you about

"Comfort food and so I just, I'm so happy that these two things have really collided. Joe burrow, this quarterback who I'm really inspired by his work ethic, his moxie, his confidence as attitude. It's a quarterback I love in a city I love. And so maybe what I'm going to say here is Cincinnati, can you forgive me? I was skeptical. I didn't think it was going to work. I really not that Joe burrow wouldn't be great now that Jamar chase wouldn't be great. I assumed things were still the way they were when Carson Palmer was a quarterback there. The ownership structure is different, and also Joe burrows better than Carson Palmer was. He's just elevating his teammates more than Carson Palmer ever did. And I just love seeing what's going on. It's a quarterback of a city I love. It's this great combination. And I'm so happy to have been wrong about Joe burrow. It certainly is really kind of cringey to look back at the stuff I said. But in all of that, I hope it's understood that there's a lot of love for the city. And it's a place I just, oh my gosh, I miss it, man. I really love the city of Cincinnati, and I'm happy that Joe burrow is just making me look monumentally wrong. It's a joy to watch. And I don't know that they're going to win a Super Bowl. I am crossing every finger and every, you know, my toes, everything. I just want them to win so badly. I don't know they will, but I want you to know I am rooting for Cincinnati. Hardcore in the Super Bowl. And they got a shot, so I don't know. I really wanted to look back and kind of, I just think it's fun to kind of clown on myself and look back at all the times I was wrong or the things I said and Joe burrow manage was proven me wrong over and over and over again and I love that. All right, let's shift gears..

I'm used to Not meeting expectations But the best Was on saturday. I got together with Forty or so colleagues of mine as well as some of the families To remember the day we escaped the south tower on nine eleven We were on the twenty sixth floor and thankfully everybody In our officers was able to escape Unfortunately One of the members of our company out of boston and was on america. Let them but Those of us that were in the building were lucky enough to get out. And it's really nice getting together and seeing friends and seeing their families and kinda reminiscing on You know what we've accomplished what we've done in twenty cents but at how much time did you get advance. Notice so doug to get out of the south tower so I was actually on a conference call in a meeting room that day and my manager was I had a window office and We were not aware of what was going on until she started screaming about something happening and since she usually worked in central jersey. We couldn't understand what was going on but then we realized she was in the offices. That day We Solve what was going on outside of windows And after i saw a look of horror and a friend stays I kinda decided it was time to leave Actually was Engaged my wife to be married in eighteen days. And as i ran out of the building yelled out people my office to make sure that they actually the building. We thought there have been an explosion of some sort and I made it downstairs to the mezzanine section just outside near century twenty one and unfortunately it was had never heard anything. there's a lot of chaos going on obviously at that time we were down Even on the mezzanine section level. But before i walked out of the buildings And i was standing just next to the building looking up at the fire in the building when i saw the second plane flight through so it was I don't remember much other than snippets of memories for about the next hour. Just as a kind of meandering around the city but it was It was I've never had so much pride in who we were as americans and how we reached out to each other day to To grab each other strangers the you never seen That were just horrified. Thirteen games or do you think they're only going to win nine games and it feels like there's a lot of teams that are around nine or ten wins this year but you've added another game as well that has to be factored in mclovin feels unfair that the four really good teams in the nfc west knowsley week one but spread the wealth a little bit. "All game long me or the ref or somebody on the opposing team. He would hit that button on his recorder and half of what he said was the play. The other half was him. Mfn the rash or maybe me from the previous play or somebody on the other side line but now that now that you know he can just you know coach the game and handle everything. The forty thousand foot level and byron left which is calling plays. He seems like his Blood pressure's dropped and he's just like he's in a happy place. But how does that mean brady. Wanted to play with bruce arians. Do you understand why he would hundred percent. I mean any any pocket passer would absolutely love that system. There's a you watch. Grady play the other night on thursday there in empty. It seems like a quarter of the game there. Just spreading people out there getting their best receivers on the field and they're letting. Tom brady do what he does. Best which takes time and take his take his check down. Take the completions and throw the big plays when they showa. But what's he do better than you brady. Yeah everything we do everything better than you he does. He does september thirteenth two thousand twenty one. But you know. I think the one thing you you watch stat that last drive. They had where they went down the field. The one thing brady does and two minute drills is. He knows defenses are scared of him and he takes. And let's the defense get attended depths and create cushion menu. Wash that last drive where they went down and kick the field. He didn't throw a ball over ten yards he just was dinking and dunking. It and the defense was backpedaling and getting depth in giving them cushion and he was just throwing the ball to the running backs tight ends. They would step out of bounds after eight yard. Gain is the same thing we we've seen brady do new england for years. He doesn't get rattled. He doesn't take chances and try to force the ball. Downfield he takes with the defense gives them and they end up with a seemingly. Easy drive at the end of the game for a field goal in a win is brady. What four years older than you brady is three years old. It blows my mind. Saying how long would it take for you to get ready to play in a game. I can walk out and play in a game. But just as quickly as i walked in. I'd be walking off the field with a hamstring shoulder. Something i'm in no form the playwright. Who is the toughest quarterback you faced. Why never be brady. I was up I played against brady bunch. I was up. Twenty one knots in In the first. Half in new england. And richard seymour. Took a low shot on me in and blew my almost blew my knee out. I didn't end up finishing the game but we were up. Twenty one nothing. So i beat brady for half. That's my best but you say this your kids. I do say dell data own brady for one half. I was driving home I coach my kids. Seven three football team. I was driving home half the kids that live up by us now is dropping often. We're driving along and one of the kids in the backseat. Told me that is second uncle. Which i don't even know the second goal is his second uncle tackled. Tom brady in college once. And it really just. It really just made me how you know maybe realize how little these kids think of me on their toes. But they're all out there in russell wilson jerseys and scandal seahawks cure talk about radio. And they hit the corner at the end of the game for touchstone last-second. That's right. yeah. I'm trying to bring up positives here. I'm sorry i could feel bringing up negatives but you own. "Too much blame true but at the same time. I think the quarterback position is is really a it's so important to have the right organization surrounding you. There's been plenty of quarterbacks that have gone to the right place and had much better careers In the right place the right organization than them going to a battery station like detroit. Detroit detroit's been struggling for a long time. We we've heard the stories you know inside out from back in the days You know and stafford was for twelve years. He gave it his best shot. He had some talent around him at times. But you know seeing him in. La with that kind of offense that kind of That kind of system in and you know there's a lot of talk about him not being able to play the game outside the pocket. Do all bootlegs play action stuff that they did but man. He looked good last night and getting outside the pocket drawn on the run. But these rookie quarterback's come in and they're ready to go. At least we think they are but but the mental part of this though carson. I'm i'm curious about because you sat your first year behind john kitten but like physically. Were you more ready than mentally or maybe the other way around. These guys are coming to the league physically ready. These are look at trae. Lanson and san francisco me physically gifted quick fast explosive arm accurate but it just takes some time. It just takes that You know couple. A couple seasons getting used to be in on third down thirty long backed up in your own territory in the red zone with the game on the line. There's so many things that you need is a quarterback to develop and a majority of those things you need. outside of. Having a great organization really good play holler is experiencing until the young guys have experienced at a bunch of plays and a bunch of different situations under their belts. They're not completely mentally ready. But these guys are coming in the league right now physically. Ready without a doubt. How overwhelmed did you feel first year. Starting well i had that first year to sit and rest. So i didn't feel overwhelmed but had i played in that that week one game my rookie year You know i absolutely would felt overwhelmed. And there's so much you don't know about this game And like i said it just takes reps and it takes experience yet. And i'm always curious about that. Then you have a bad game and then it stays with. Like the pros are able. The veterans can move on like you have to have a short memory. It feels like but it feels like a rookie is going to hold onto that bad interception. He had or a bad loss a little bit longer. Absolutely until you've proven yourself to your teammates that you can get over a bad loss. A bad play the lost a game until you can prove that to your teammates in yourself. You don't know me that you if you can go to college like kyla. Murray did oklahoma in one year. Go out there and play amazing. And win a heisman trophy almost national championships. But until you do it at the nfl level until you prove it to yourself. Hey i can go out and week one and land egg and i can bounce back and week soon have a one hundred ten passer rating. You don't know you can do it until you do it. And you're seeing some of these young guys struggle and you watch trevor lawrence play yesterday and it was struggles but that kid has the right mentality the right makeup. I expect him to bounce back. It might not be leaked. It might not be in week. Three but i would pretty much take any right now. Saying the trevor lawrence is not going to be a bust. He will be a successful. Nfl quarterback how do you explain aaron rodgers yesterday. Man is this position. Ila when you're aaron rogers. The position quarterback is so difficult. When you put extra pressure on yourself aaron. His barron has asked for all the pressure. All the criticism you could possibly ever ask for and it is so difficult even when you're as talented gifted erin. There's a lot of pressure on in succeed. There's a lot of pressure on him to perform. It just goes to show you that. Even aaron rodgers can get rallied. Looked rattled from the jump from me. Looked like he was uncomfortable. Couldn't settle in and find a speed. He was harassed all day in the it and that might be a little bit of this off season catching up to him. There's no doubt in my mind an will bounce back and have a pro bowl tight caliber year. No doubt about it but he looked extremely rattled yesterday. How do you explain. Patrick mahomes to those who might not have witnessed patrick mahomes these magic key that there's a couple of guys in the league they are just magicians. Russell wilson jumps out at jumps out the top of my mind. He just does things that you don't expect him to be able to do. Patrick mahomes as much as we think he's great. He's got this big arm in these teeny just makes some plays that. We didn't even think he could make But but there's just a handful of guys in this league right now that have magic about and he's talking to carson palmer former. Nfl quarterback and of course heisman trophy winner are gloves performance enhancing absolutely not for wide receiver. Now there you know when. I think of performance enhancing. I think like everybody else. You think of something. You're injecting or ingesting some in some form or another but if put on gloves is performance enhancing men's sore shoulder pads as well but it helps you catch the ball in a shoulder pads help. You tackle somebody. Yeah but but but a previous generation didn't have this well. The previous generation didn't have the technology in their helmets and their shoulder pads that we have to today. How much does that help. Having that technology in your helmet when you have somebody who can calm you down whispered to you. While you're getting ready to call your play or getting up. To the line of scrimmage will you don't have that much time to to have shrink jump on your head said you only got twenty five seconds so you gotta get the plan you gotta relate to play and then get the snap off but You know. I do think you know that technology is great. Because especially as i got older in the league i was way too fat out of shape to run from the huddle of the sideline and back and forth in between every play getting the place. I needed that. Great to stand in the huddle here at through my headset. Do you need to be in shape to be a quarterback absolutely absolutely unlike pitchers. I've always heard people say that pitchers have to be in great great shape to be a pitcher. I think you gotta be even better shape to play quarterback in the. Nfl did not lift. Did you not run like what happened that you got fat. I got old action said fat. I just got and i got tired. And and all those hits start adding up. Having to go back and forth shuttled plays in and out. When i was twenty. Twenty two twenty three would have been a lot easier than a while thirty eight so thankfully when i was in my late thirties. I the headset on you. Ever call a timeout. Because you're too tired absolutely actually got to the bottom of a scrum and and it was a fumbled snap and i had gotten back down on top that everybody was laying on top of me and i was. I was playing. Bruce arians in arizona. And i was holding onto the ball so tightly and somebody from the opposing team was trying to rip it out of my hands that my hand went numb and i was worried that the next play was going to be a pass. Sure enough bruce. Call the pass and my head. The feeling hadn't come back in my hands yet because it was so fatigued for holding onto a ball and trying to maintain possession at the bottom of pile. Had to call a timeout. What's it like having areas. Talk to you. it's great. I mean you look at tampa bay play now and brady does not to deal with areas spin. Fm in the in the huddle over the heads. He's got byron left which the offense coordinator coordinator calling the plays. Marion is m. f. Ing you while. He's your offense.

"Favorite broadcaster of all time, he is a joy to watch during every single game. And listen to. I still think Tony left a little bit on the table, and it's very sad the way things went down in Dallas. And it's sad the way he's remembered and not really given the respect that he's deserved in my opinion. Now quarterback number two is Carson Palmer. And I have less to say here, but I would like to warn people. Guys like Joe burrow, guys, like Trevor Lawrence. Pay attention to the story I'm about to tell about Carson polymer. Carson polymer won a Heisman Trophy at USC was a number one overall pick, a phenomenal quarterback in college. And then he went to Cincinnati and this is where things began to have problems. Because Carson was a Hall of Fame caliber player who wasted year after year after year on a terrible team with a terrible organization, the Cincinnati Bengals. By the way, the Bengals have not won a playoff game in over 30 years. The last time the Bengals won a playoff game was 1990, and they beat the Houston oilers, a team that does not exist anymore. And Carson Palmer has been very open about how the Bengals ownership was cheap. They would not go out to free agents. We're not actually trying to win a Super Bowl. They just wanted to be good enough to sell tickets and stay profitable. That's a huge problem. I would not want to play for this insanity Bengals. So Carson wasted the prime years of his career. In Cincinnati. In fact, he had to threaten to retire in order to get the Bengals ownership to trade him out of there. And it was sad because he went to the Raiders first, and it wasn't until after a while he went to the Arizona Cardinals. And unfortunately, he was past the prime of his career. By the time he got to Arizona, he did lead them to an NFC championship game , but Carson Palmer wasted the best years of his career. On a horrible, horrible team. It's very sad. He was held back.

He played 15 years in the NFL. He was a three time pro bowler. 12th all time in passing yardage. Aunt Edie's. He is a member of the Cardinal's Ring of honor. He has a Heisman Trophy winner. He was a consensus all American. He was the first pick overall, you know three at the USC. He joins us on behalf of Kingwood and its performance based CBD Sports cream level. Select Course I'm speaking of Carson Palmer. Carson. So good to have you back. How are you? I'm well, Jim. Thanks for having me on Always good to have you on. Listen before we get into any of this stuff a break games down. I'm kinda curious. What's it been like for you during the pandemic? How have you approached it? How is life for you? Overall? What your perspective like now? Well, I've got four young kids and we've been in school out of school. Um and just kind of all over the place, but, um, you know, I think, God every day we've been healthy. We've We've dodged some bullets. We've had some negative tests. After some scares, but overall, we're blessed and hoping to get past the pandemic and back to normal here suit. Here here. Glad to hear it. We're joined by Carson Palmer. Right question. When Tom Brady went to Tampa Bay, you were pretty clear that things were going to work out well, with Bruce Arians knowing that are you at all surprised to see them in the Super Bowl together? Was that pretty much what you expected? Don't think I know back in September after watching their first couple games, assumed that they were going to be in the Super Bowl. Just because Tom Brady was on the team. They exceeded expectations. They've got better and better as the years going on. They've really improved just chemistry and technique wise within that system and Tommy's gotten used to the play calls. He's gotten used to the new Burbage Burbage after so many years in New England, and they're just firing on all cylinders offensively and You know you washing play. There's some balls they miss here and there, there's even more yard. It's there's even more points on the board, and I'm sure that's something that they're talking about. Especially if they go back this week, and they watch over that Kansas City game from I think week 10 or 11 12. At the midway point have watched the number of times. I'm sure they've gotten confidence and that's game film just seeing him and we can run with these guys. We could keep up with them. We left points on the board. We only scored 25 were worth 35 against these guys. Let's continue to progress. That's why I think Tampa Bay is gonna be my pick this week. Mm Carson Palmer Joining us you mentioned all the time they spent New England like, for instance, if you're Tom Brady, and you're going from Bill Bella jak to Bruce Arians. What do you suppose that transition is like, And how rejuvenating could that be for a guy like Tom? I think it's extremely refreshing. I mean, I I I think back right when I had gotten the Phoenix remember I was having a conversation with Larry Fitzgerald in the middle of the middle of the season. I was like You don't understand how good this is. We're out here on natural grass. It's not 15 degrees and raining and cold. You know if the grass looks like Augusta National, you got a little more bounce in your step. You're not having a practice on national security. Bad post, not you know that That is just is like one of your buddies off the field, and he's a coach on the field. I just think everything Whether the practice environment the head coaches Delivery to the team and his delivery and conversations with Tom himself individually. I think the entire thing was invigorating and refreshing for Tom and you're seeing it in this place, especially late in the season. Talking Carson Palmer. You know, one earlier in the year and because, you know Bruce Arians, you understood this whole process. But earlier in the year when he kind of called Tom out publicly, and all of a sudden all this hand wringing Carson about these guys are on the same page. You don't do Tom Brady like that. What's he thinking? I mean, you know, because you played for Bruce Arians. What's he like in a meeting room when you're watching film with that coaches? He's super intense or see a lot of fun to be around. Or maybe both. Well when he's talking to you. It's not fun, but it's fun when he's talking to somebody else. I mean, remember when I first got there, and he led every post practice. Film session where we go back and watch the previous the prior practice. We just got off the field from and I was taken notes on the exes and those of it as he was coaching. I wish I would have taken notes. On the one liners he had for guys that consistently screwed plays up. He had. I mean, so many F bombs. And and he would string together three or four words that were just hilarious. Half of them were cuss words, the other. We're just directed direct directly at the player. But you know I should have. I should have. Roll index of one liners from all the funny things, he said, where he was dead, serious, yelling and screaming at a guy about screwing a play out for the third or fourth time and practice. And most of the room is laughing at what he said. And then he gets more pissed because he's not trying to be funny. He's trying to make a point. He thinks everybody's in there goofing off and having fun, So I mean he's constant comedy. But not when he's directing. You know his his ast voices, too. That is an awesome anecdote. Carson Palmer is joining us. I'm curious. What about that first conversation that you had with him? Is it true that in that first conversation with him over the phone, he was storing ice cubes in his yeti cop? And if so, you had to speculate. Carson up put in a bad spot. What do you think was in that cup? Besides ice? Well, I was actually with the season had ended. I was in Hawaii with my family and I got a call from him. And he didn't even we did talk football it all. But hey, what's up, dude? Hey, Coach, you know nice. Nice to meet you. And I hear this like cleaning My coach would What are you doing? He was sitting by his pool with his shirt off and Steve time and him were drinking Tito's and I think at the time it was Tito's and crystal light. But I know he loves this. Tito's I know he loves his time away from football with his family and his new grandchild, so I know at the time he was enjoying himself out by the pool of Phoenix. I love that Carson Palmer is joining us. All right. So then you got Bruce Arians. And then you got Andy Reid through the most aggressive head coaches in the NFL. You touched on Tampa Bay and why you like them overall? What kind of a Super Bowl are you expecting? On Sunday? I think, you know, I think it's gonna be a really, um, well displayed defensive effort from both teams. I think Kansas City there's such a ball hawking secondary. They are built to play with the lead. They're built to try to stop the past and not so much have to worry about the run. When you got tired, Matthew, who is like a receiver, hands wise on the back end. But the reason I like campus, I just like the lateral speed. Um We blast through the city play. They do so much with me. Cole Hardman with Tyree Kill. You know, getting the ball and running it from the back field on these speed sweeps, and they just outflank defense's and they outrun linebackers..

"He is partner. This is our first CBD of the week by the way, many CBS last year. You're representing a level select CBD when he joins us. We're talking about a number of different things these days is Raider. He kinda. He's doing what he did. What did Shawn Watson is trying to do so awesome, but that he also got a little bit of grief. Yesterday was in Dallas and said. Jack Prescott doesn't need to be the top paid quarterback. You could take a little less because he's the quarterback of America's team and decided that you know Rome. Oh, and eight men and Written. All those guys got gigs, and a lot of it was maybe because they were cowboys and then you got a bunch of grief for yesterday's. We'll ask him how that's going, and we'll do that in a few minutes possible, asking about the quarterback matchup, all the things surrounding the Super Bowl with you and I will get to. We haven't had a lot of Super Bowl breakdown stuff, although Greg Cosell, Jonas a 10 55, and we'll take care of that Yeah, we'll get into it. Obviously, I watched back the first match up between between Kansas City in Tampa Bay, and they've got to have a better plan for Tyree kill and everybody's so concerned were to talk to will shields, the great Guard of the Chiefs and Geoff Schwartz, Mitchell's older brother is not gonna play and make it a big deal about it. It is a big deal not to have your two tackles and to be playing guards and tackles and The continuity on the line, But Patrick Mahomes is just So incredibly next level with his quick game and the R P o game I will get into with Cosell just the way he gets the ball out just incredibly fast. He changes his arm angles, his just his passing and Tyreke at one of the greatest pass catching first quarters. In history, But it was it was Tyreke is just, you know fast and you go up in high point the ball but Patrick my homes. He just He doesn't just have a laser arm and the ability to backpedal, But he has a Carson Palmer type arm when Carson was, you know, young and when husbands and USC before the A C. L's and even after that, Person was the quintessential thrower. The football mechanically. He was just beautiful. Mahomes could do all that. And that he could jump ball. You And just, you know Billy Kilmer or Sonny Jorgenson. You like they do that, And he's just an incredible talent. And I know those sack him the 40 Niners last year sect. Patrick Mahoney's a Super Bowl 54 3 times and they intercepted him twice and he was really rattled until mid fourth quarter. Then he took off so that those Sachi and there'll be times Shack bear. It just blows around Mike Remmers and sacks him. But by and large, he's going to get the ball out of his stand fast, and he's just next level. I'm really excited to have Carson on because Carson was such a great quarterback, but you know, you wonder with Drew Brees retiring or he's going to retire and even coach Payton said. It's gonna be about a week and a half. Look for an announcement. And then Philip Rivers retiring. You know the Carson Palmer Classic quarterback and I always, said Carson. Came into the league and had a great career and we saw him in open for a couple of years of you went into a laboratory at that time in the NFL in one of the make a quarterback, you would make Carson Palmer in every regard, but that quarterback you know we're getting away from that pocket and eventually Tom is going to retire, so it's just fascinating. And then the other part you mentioned it. Carson is was represented throughout his career by David Dunne and David Dunne is a part of the In fact, it's his, his firm that Has to Shawn so and he pulled. You know Carson on it was Mike Brown's a little different. There was a real contentious relationship there and I'm sure Sean has an issue with Cal McNair, the owner of the Texas but he just signed a lucrative contract, so it's not money related. Carson just went up against it with Mike Brown. And they drafted Andy Dalton that year and then Carson just sat on this couch and he forced the trade, you know? What advice he would give to Shawn Watson and I'm sure you already has through David Dunn. But Carson's running a little bit late, but we'll get to him. But just a great quarterback matchup to be able to dig into with the great Carson Palmer. We'll do a couple of minutes. Carson Palmer will join us to make sure you stay tuned in great. Cosell's gonna join us around 10 50. Of course, called Carson played for the Raiders. I'll do this really quickly because you already saw it. What you told me yesterday. It was exactly what I saw. I just couldn't get past the e a sports thing that they did with Roselle and al, We're talking about the hail day of his 30 for 30 years. I just thought it was cheesy because normally happens with those 30 for 30. Is there so well done. All these documentaries have been so well done, and they're usually narrated by somebody. Hotels that those stories in between and then so they're flipping to, like a creepy Pete Rozelle in the al kind of in the dark in the Vegas stadium, and it was just like, why don't you just get a narrator for this?.

And in the case of a few of you, one of the most understood or misunderstood players ever. Frank Gore, Frank Gore, 10 20 Frank Gore. He have 16,000 yards rushing Number three on the all time list for watching CBS Sports Network. There is a graphic looking good. Frank Gore coming up in 1 20. Eastern can't wait to run him down something else that we do leading up to the Super Bowl almost every single year. We talked with Carson Palmer, a perfect guest at today because we're talking about two of the best quarterbacks ever in the matchup on Sunday. Carson Palmer will break that down what he sees with Tom Brady. How Tom Brady fits in that offense and Brady along with Bruce Arians. Ah, got to Carson Palmer play for Coming up at the top of our number three. We're talking America's team. We're talking Browns Football David and Joe coup. I also love that book. Because when you look the quarterback's like it's all about the quarterbacks for this game, right. Do not sleep on the tight ends. Travis Kelsey, Best tight end in the NFL right now, Gronk arguably the best tight end ever. Cameron break of the Bucks. So I'm gonna get a tight end starts on the tight ends. And in Cleveland, there's always that question about a joke. Who does he feel about his situation because he's planning a position that is really deep, really deep with Cleveland. Then at 11 20. Big head bets. James Kelly's been working this thing for two weeks now, and I know for a fact that he's been going back and forth. I had him late last night. Which, where you going? Which way you leaning? He's like, Do I have to tell you right now? And I said no big head. You don't have to tell me right now. It would be nice before you came on the air to let me know. But even if you're not ready to tell me, Don't tell me everybody good down, so everybody get down. So that's how it's setting up. That is the show. I'm live in Tampa. I'm in my own studio. When that's not true. I had numerous ice and I ran to Boomer this morning. He was here first. So they have set us up. There is no row. Let me quickly check out some of your reaction and again clones to pick me up. Now I'm here on the road, traveled all day long yesterday to get you ready for Super Sunday. Mr Rome After conducting a payroll audit. We have detected a number of regularities. It appears that you were paid for a full three hours of work yesterday, but our records indicate that you on Lee worked too. For that reason, we will be garnishing one hour of pay benefits and a 401 k contribution. Thank you for understanding and please reach out if you have any questions regards, the CBS Sports Network Management and Human Resource Department. She often, Lincoln G off. For the last time. Just because I was not on the air for three hours does not mean that in work a complete day yesterday. Rome Slice expecting a lot from today's show. You definitely should be well rested after dipping out early yesterday regards Ashley in Nebraska. Bring it on Lady clones. Just keep yapping Lady Clone. I should be well rested after dipping out early yesterday. Yeah. One problem with that ash. Didn't get here who care? Nobody cares. I did not dip out yesterday to nap it out. I dipped out yesterday to get to Tampa. One for three C one Tweets War Jim Broadcasting from the Business Center of the Hotel next to the fax machine from 1999 Pretty much, bro pretty much. "You by century Casino in Central City Experience, Warm hospitality, Great food and the hottest slots and video poker century casino. Come for the action and stay for the fun. And I just want to be on record to let you know it was 60 degrees here in Denver today. Yeah. Yeah. Make any sense. Um, uh, here in New York. We have a foot of snow. My trip to the Super Bowl was delayed. I am hoping to fly out tomorrow at 3 30. We will see if that is the case. But that is what I'm currently helping. And we know the price now for, um Matthew Stafford, two first rounders in future years in the third round this year. What's the price that you're hearing for this Shawn Watson? Oh, I mean, if there is a price and again I don't know that I don't know that they're actually gonna trade him. They have not yet decided that they would even be willing to consider trading him. So I think until that happened This is all sort of hypothetical, but you know you're talking Probably three one's pressed, plus players like that's what I would think because you know any more than that. You get too much into the future, but probably three ones, and then players and You know would take it would take a lot. I mean, this is a guy you know, It has to be the kind of package where we used infections would say, You know, we're okay, giving up a franchise quarterback because we have to take this trade package. I just don't know if anyone can actually offer enough on don't know if we're gonna find out because You know, I mean, the Texans want to make this right. They want to meet with them. They want to do everything they can. As of right now. Shawn has shown no willingness. Um, but something has to give it some point. I'm just wondering what it's gonna be. And that's interesting, because I mean, it does seem like there is a lot of posturing that is going on. I mean, the day they introduced their head coach is the day. Back to Shawn Watson again comes out publicly saying he wants out of Houston and Alfred has already said. I mean, what's that money look like Alfred. It's what, like 24 million that he could be. The $1.9 million if if he just sits out this pat this upcoming year, which is a lot of money, but not really a lot of money to a guy who looks to play at least 10 more years in this league. No, but you know, there's not a lot of president for players actually sitting out. I mean, we've talked about it before. It's been a threat, but like actually sitting out, and it's so punitive now in the C B A. I mean, it's like Holdouts are almost a thing of the past. Unless you're you know, Lady on Belle. We're not under contract. You can't get fined like it is. You know it is a massive massive decision. To sit out hard to imagine that happens, although I guess I've seen stranger things. The last guy that I can remember that did it successfully was Carson Palmer, who was in a bad organization who wanted out and got out, but it took half of the year for to happen. Um, you know this this You know the idea that you can trade for God, like the Sean watching is exciting. You know, we have the number nine pick in the NFL draft. We don't have enough. We don't We don't have enough to give Houston Texans, You know that? That's what's crazy. Like, even if we did give them three first round draft picks, they would want players and the number nine pick Andrew Lock and whatever is just sitting like it's just not enough. I mean, anything is doable, but, um, you're right. I mean, you know, it's here's the thing like the other part of this is which is a really tough part of this is Let's just say the Broncos didn't look to the Broncos. Little for To one's Jerry Judy drew lock and You know, Rally Chub. Yeah. I mean, I would be a real lot. But let's say, Brad, let's just say for the sake of argument, grandly jump. Okay, fine. So then, if you're just gonna walk, then you have a no trade clause. Are you really going to go there, knowing they've just given up all their players and draft picks to go play there? That's the hard part of this is it has to be something to where the team would be willing to take the trade, but that's a shown we're going to go there. So what place could give up enough to get to Sean lock in, but also not mortgage too much to anyone want to play there? That's why this is one of the trickiest scenarios we've really seen in a long time. And we heard that the Broncos may have been in. Although we don't know how seriously on the Matthew Stafford a taste they were kicking the tires. How serious were the Broncos? Um, serious enough for George Payne. The new general manager made phone calls and not fierce enough where they made a big push. You know, I don't even know that they officially offered, um And you know, I would say with trade talks If you're going to officially offer that means you're going to be a finalist. Probably. My guess is they got to the point where they're like our if we were going to give this in, this is that something you'd consider is that something Stafford would consider what she wanted in the That's part of the problem. She wanted to be in that way. If he really did you just wanted to wanted to be there and Um It was hard for teams like the Broncos or the Panthers in Washington to compete because when he just wants to be somewhere It's hard to change his mind. So I think the Broncos were interested, and that's what they were. George paid him like he was the guy in Minnesota. We did all their trades. He loves trades. He will be involved in every single one of them is not always going to pull the trigger. But he is going to be talking about every trade, and that's something I think phantom to get used to, and also embrace. I mean, it's you this and you said that you're going down to the Super Bowl. What will you be able to do when you get there? Nothing. By the way he wait and NFL network If he can't do nothing, there is the whole reason why we're not right. Well, I mean, so I said exactly. So, um, I have a live shot location in the convention center where I have a camera set up Boston Where? My mask obviously all the time not really allowed to walk around there. Move. Um I can eat meals. If I go out to dinner, I have to sit at the table by myself. If I otherwise just eating in my room, so basically going to the convention or doing work. Going to my room, eating some sort of take out and doing it back. Wow. I'm going to the game being on the field pregame doing our pre game show. And then watching the game. I don't know where and then going on. Are these. So Are these the same rules Super Bowl? Are these the same rules that everybody who's covering this from the media side of things have to follow in order to be there? I don't think so. I know these are our rules that NFL network I'm tested every day. Um, it's very stringent and it should be stranger. Because here's the reality like which say I wanted to go there and party Run the list of bringing back covert 19th my family. I don't want that either. Don't want to get sick myself. So It's you know, hopefully we're getting to the end of this place. But obviously it's important and these these are the rules and news or what? We're going to be here, too. What? Ian Man, It's always great to check in with you. We look forward to seeing you on the television and talking with your down line about this upcoming Super Bowl. I think it's gonna be a fantastic game between two Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Wow, I can't believe I'm saying that about a young man like Patrick Mahomes. But Enjoy yourself. But true. Thank.

"Me get to Heidi in Wisconsin. Hi, Heidi. What's on your mind today? Hi, Dan. How are you? Great. What's on your mind, Heidi? I'm calling about observation on Carson Palmer's comment about Aaron Rodgers interview and that whole thing first, I disagree with Carson Palmer that Aaron Rodgers was dramatic. I think he was just expressing some real emotion at the time. Which goes to my next point, I would assume as an interviewer, you're really want to uncover that real emotion get to that authentic athlete and that authentic emotion. And then when you do like with Aaron Immediately. EMedia blows it up, inflates it picks it apart. Which is just going to ensure probably that the next time Aaron comes to the microphone he's gonna have Ah, scripted found it for you. So I'm learning about the media's role in creating the feedback loop to athletes. Nappy authentic at the microphone now and Erin's address this That's reason why goes on Pat McAfee. He gets to address something in its context, and McAfee lets him talk. And he does this weekly so he gets his opportunity. And you're right about the media. But If you're just understanding the media's role now, Heidi, where have you been? The media went from these comments on Sunday night Monday morning. Everybody overreacted. Tuesday. Everybody overreacted. And then all of a sudden, Rogers says, I'm not going anywhere. And then you had, you know. Somebody in the front office who says he's not going anywhere? Because it wasn't a story. But that doesn't stop. But Aaron opened the door. Now you can say Did he really open? Maybe opened a window. But that's all the media needs. That they just take it and then they run. And that's why I said I don't know if this is story here now granted, I just do my show. The other people have other agendas. And you know what? You'll click on a show that they say Hey, Aaron Rodgers, next destination. I don't want to cover the coverage. But sometimes I have to. Yes, See, I love to call out the media and be like I think that this is getting blown out of proportion. Dude, literally said he doesn't know what his future is. You mean like there wasn't that much of a stretch to be like? Whoa. What do you mean, dude? What is that supposed to mean? And sometimes he is kind of the guy. I get the sense sometimes that he loves to, like, sort of throw a little verbal grenade there, and I'd be like, What is this? No, it's chill. Don't worry about it. I'm not. No, it's fine. That's your Aaron Rodgers in that moment? Yeah, the media is just making so much of this. I just It's a comment, Guys. Just relax. I didn't know he sounded like a stoner surfer, dude. Yeah, No, just you guys just chill. Rogers is as aware as any athlete I've covered And this is a guy who listens to interviews. He listens back to them. I think he had a little bit of a game plan there. Do I think that there was any talk? Thought that he wouldn't be there next year. Won't be there next year. No, I don't. But that didn't stop the media from saying, Hey, let's look at destinations here. Okay, He's not going anywhere. So it seemed kind of silly. That'd be like if you really wanted to do it, even though he doesn't have the star power, Jared Goff. Now That's a legitimate story where you could say, Where could he end up? Jared Goff doesn't have anywhere near the curating National appeals. Aaron Rodgers does. If he did, this would be a huge story. That's what you have to understand about the media. They're looking to play the hits. It's like a top 40 station. We're just playing the hits. We're not gonna go second cut in or third cut in. We're gonna play the one song. And then we're gonna play it over and over number. That's how the media works. Play the hits. Holy This day in sports history. 73 Dan, you're used daily Bruins won or six 61st two consecutive game to break the record that was held by San Francisco. That's right, the University of San Francisco I knew you know that 1984 Wayne Gretzky said it NHL record for consecutive games scoring. He ended the streak and 51 games the next night against the King's before he joined the king's news. Hmm. That's it. Okay? Happy birthday to Keith Overman Happy birthday to Cris Collinsworth. Same day, same year, both the Big six to both 60.

Chad Ochocinco, Carson Palmer meet in Idaho
"What's the story of chaired junk Ken Johnson and, of course in Palma, reuniting What a great sight to see. With Chad heading up the Idaho visit with Carson for awhile, just Oh, my goodness. The amount of content that they were putting out was just so entertaining, but I mean, obviously, we got to start with the fact that they had a video chatted with Joe Burrow and tea. Higgins congratulating them. I'm getting their first win in the N F l. I just thought that was absolutely phenomenal on their part. You want to go to those lengths to show to give them their congratulations and kind of like welcoming them into the league and and really highlighting their first W together, right? That's

Race for No. 1 pick in 2020 NFL Draft: Joe Burrow to the Bengals becomes the trendy pick
"I just don't think that Joe burrow necessarily says the things that he said being a little wishy washy about committed the bangles before this and that all goes away because of the scouting combine his want to throw gasoline on the fire eight maybe he again maybe he wants to challenge we had Carson Palmer on the show radio row Superbowl week he said I was gonna get drafted number one overall people told me don't go to the bangles there losing organization I said I've got I'm good enough to change it there he said look looking back there was a youthful arrogance about me I thought I could change it I realized I learned I could not so perhaps Joe burrows in the same boat but perhaps Schober also is getting other information or other direction from his father his dad played professional football his dad played football in the CFL his dad has been a football dad it's distinctly possible is dad knowing the ins and out of an NFL career or a pro football career says you know what you don't want to go to the bangles and let's get you somewhere else which is exactly what Archie manning did so this is no slam against Bengals fans of this city of Cincinnati you know they're no worse or better this is no worse or better than many other cities in the NFL this is simply about can you trust the ownership namely Mike brown to support you to build a winner Joe burrow is the best quarterback in this draft by a long shot he's the best player because the numbers he put up last year he's also the best back because of two ways injury Joe burrow in a quarterback league is the best quarterback in this year's draft so you know he's got some leverage there and does he have faith that Mike brown who is renowned in the NFL as a cheapskate does he have the faith that Michael brown will do enough that we had to go on the show late last week and he absolutely was adamant that the idea the narrative that the Bengals don't wanna win is silly just look at the playoff berths that they made the playoffs seven times under Marvin Lewis and that if you make the playoffs that many times and you draft as well as they do which they do draft very well then you shouldn't be criticized for not trying to
