"Everyone that wants to participate in the election I'll never be one to say that everything was perfect but certainly It was amazing to see what election officials did across the country during the pandemic end at. I'm really excited in optimistic about the future of not only vote by mail but other innovations in the election process to continually improve the voting experience. Because we need to put voters. I and that's really the key to all of us. You've used the phrase of for what i call. Vote by mail you use. You've used the phrase vote at home And what. I like about that phrase. Is it expresses just how people and user-friendly you want the voting experience to be and in the past up until a vote by mail movement of voting has always been about a having to fit your life into the voting process. It's going to be this many hours at your polling place. No one is available for all of those hours Someone might be able to go after work. Someone might be able to go before work. And so the this idea of. I can do it at my kitchen. Table whenever i need to do it It is the it seems to me. As the highest likelihood there is of getting high. Voter turnout well. That's exactly right. And the benefits of voting at home as we described in the region. We say voting at home missed because while voters received their ballots through the mail at home there are multiple options to submit the ballot back including dropping it off in person at voting location or the clerk's office dropping a draw fox or using the united states postal service delivered back and the great thing about voting at home as you have all those options and as you mentioned. You're not restricted. The times that the government sets free are you can do it at your at night at your kitchen table Like i do with my children. I have an eight and ten year old and every election. They helped me with my ballot. They ask me questions. Like what is governor. Do mommy in what is mayor. Do and what's school board. And i use it as a six lesson every single time the ballot arise and we have that experience every election and then they go walk with me down to the dropbox or the mailbox and submit it back in so the opportunity are really going. Home is tremendous for appearance for children for anybody. That's working multiple jobs or going to school and anyone that wants to be more informed about. What's on their valid. Because you have time to actually research issues get informed You might spend a few days. And that's fine and you're not constricted by when the government tells you that you can show up to vote at a place quickly before we go. What do you say to republicans who had been strong users of absentee voting as they call it used to call it mail in voting the been strong uses of it until donald trump was telling them not to. What do you say to them when they say we suddenly believe suddenly now believe that There's more opportunity for fraud in mail. In ballots i would strongly urge them to get the facts and get the research. We have a lot of the myth. Buster tied documents on our website But i think also the disinformation. The lies and conspiracies. They're spreading right now about the voting process whether it be vote by mail or voting technology providers. Or what have you is is massive in. This information continues to be a biggest election. Security issue that we face We have to continue to fight it handedly. Every day with the facts. Figures in the evidence evidence base elections and in all of the research that goes into the so would encourage them to ignore the noise in and use the method of voting that works for them and and get more information from local officials or state officials. If they have questions about it amber. Mcdonald's i think it feels lucky for us to have someone on the postal board of governors with expertise in mail in voting for the next five years that seems like a desperately needed area of expertise for that group. Thank you very much for joining us tonight. Thank you so much. And just as the united states of america reaches peak vulgarity in the delivery of the cove nineteen vaccine by offering people a million dollars to get vaccinated in a lottery open only to people who get vaccination giving people guns if they get vaccinated giving them beer to get vaccinated while other parts of the world are suffering and dying every day because they cannot get this vaccine that we have to give people a million dollars to get just when we hit that. Peak of uniquely. American vulgarity embarrassing ourselves to the entire planet. The biden administration today announced a commitment to distribute at least eighty million vaccine doses globally by the end of this month and although covid nineteen is under control in the united states. Globally we have seen more coronavirus cases in the first five months of two thousand twenty one around the world than in all of last year the new york times reports in north america sixty vaccine doses have been administered for every hundred people compared with twenty seven in south america and twenty one in asia and africa. The rate is two doses. Her hundred people finally thanks to president biden some help is on the way coming up next segment. Representative Matt Gaetz Asked Trump to Pardon Him

"A breaking news report tonight. The new york times says that carson matt gaetz who is under federal investigation possible sex trafficking charges privately asked for a pardon from donald trump in the final weeks of the trump presidency the times reports. You privately asked the white house for blanket. Preemptive pardon for himself and unidentified congressional allies for any crimes they may have committed. according to two people told of the discussions on november twenty fourth one donald trump and matt gaetz were pretending that donald trump would be president for life carbon gates went on fox to prepares his supporters and trump supporters for what he hoped would be hardens for everyone. President trump should pardon michael. Flynn he should pardon the thanksgiving turkey. You should pardon. Everyone from himself to his administration officials to joe exotic if he has to because you see from the radical left a bloodlust that will only be quenched if they come after the people who worked so hard to animate the trump administration with the policies and the vigor and the effectiveness that delivered for the american. So i think that the president ought to wheeled that pardon power effectively and robustly maritimes reports that it is unclear whether congressman gates or the white house knew that he was the subject of a sex traffic investigation approved by trump attorney. "On Carson Matt Gaetz filling in for Sean today we've been counting down the top ten DC lives of twenty nineteen they are the impeachment would be bipartisan we obviously saw that wasn't true the trump committed bribery until they had no evidence of any bribery then they told us the truck pressured the Ukraine even though the president of the Ukraine and other said that that wasn't true that that didn't happen then you had that the steel dossier was critical to the door to the visor there wasn't critical to the FISA process when we in fact proved that it was after that ships contact with the whistle blower after that this notion of criminal conspiracy with Russia that the bidens did nothing wrong then the trump instructor justice and so that brings us to what I believe was the lie of twenty nineteen and that is that the FBI did nothing wrong we heard time and again from Jim call me from Jerry Nadler from Adam Schiff that the FBI acted exactly as we would have wanted them to and now as a result of the Horowitz information we know that the FBI had false information that they knew the information was false that they knew the information was provided by a liar in Christopher steel that they knew was a liar and yet time and again they went back to a secret court and did everything they could to get authorities to delegitimize and destabilize the duly elected president of the United States Senate it wasn't just Democrats who were sticking up for the FBI in this time of one just the folks on the left we even had my good friend and former colleague now I guess fox news contributor Trey Gowdy sticking up for the FBI I am I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump no tray they did not do exactly what they were supposed to do if the FBI was doing exactly what they were supposed to do they would have gone to steal sub sources and found out from steel sources that the information is still present it wasn't true they would have looked at the pleadings in the British courts were steel was admitting to having lied to the FBI because he was sharing information with the media if the FBI did everything they were supposed to do they would not have had circular logic before a secret court where you've got a circumstance where you where they use a Yahoo news article written by Michael is a cough to validate the dossier when it was in fact the very people associate with the dossiers construction who were the sources for the is a cough story so that type of tautology that type of circular logic can self actualizing of falsehood would really be counter to what the FBI is supposed to do but don't just take my word for it listen and listen and up Michael Horowitz the Obama appointed inspector general we found that investigators failed to meet their basic obligations of ensuring that the FISA applications were scrupulous scrupulously accurate we identified significant inaccuracies and omissions in each of the four applications seven in the first application and a total of seventeen by the final renewal application there is a theory that the the FISA scandal the work of the FBI I think in contradiction to our rule of law to our standards to the woods procedures to our notions of due process that that was going to be such a big scandal and really such a huge embarrassment for the Democrats and even some Republicans who stood up for the FBI that there had to be something new some new distraction for the country and thus we get this non whistle blower whistleblower we get this potential coordination with chef and ultimately this Ukraine impeachment that that is not the crime it's probably the cover up it's probably what folks on the left of tried to utilize so that we don't get to the business of resolving these fundamental issues so that we can trust our institutions and I am sick and tired of folks on the left saying that it's Republicans who all were damaging our institutions look we want to be able to trust our institutions we are pro law enforcement and a vast majority the people who work at the FBI or doing god's work they're doing America's work they're out there on the front lines making sure we're safer more prosperous but you had folks at the head shed who were not doing the right thing who I think contributed to a degradation of our institutions and no person knows that better than my next guest my good friend one of my mentors in the United States Congress Louie Gohmert Louis thanks for joining me Hey Matt you're doing an awesome job to do and to feel sick I learned from the master and of course when when it comes to guest hosting the Sean Hannity show nobody does it like Louie Gohmert Louis why is it that we we really saw a change in the F. B. I. from an institution that I think most of us relied on trusted to really get a political operation well I'm that smaller and that's where our gives most of the credit because he came in and people didn't really pay attention I started grill in the money come before judiciary on his five Europe were out policy that he started he wanted to get rid of people that have been there and the more experience and would hold people's feet to the fire he didn't want anything but young yes people and so he lost thousands and thousands of years random all I had so many FBI agents say yeah I wanted to stay in the F. B. R. but I had the the room moved to Washington and said a tearful calls or get out so I got out I'm making more money but I really wish I could have stayed near yeah but I wouldn't go in drag my family up to Washington and so thousands of years of experience were lost and I really think man that contributed substantially to where you had people coming in there at the top who you know they didn't want anybody cross and they felt like they ran everything and actually they did but the old gray hairs are no wires were not there to say look this is not a good idea this will hurt the institution you can't do that and I always say that low in on it with with the right oversight with the right leadership I mean there are we going to be able to restore trust and confidence only if enough people are punished for the abuses that went on and on I think you know you and I have talked about it what does that mean what is the punishment means I mean does that mean heads roll in terms of people getting fired does that mean you know a letter of reprimand or do you think that they're after the charges brought against people who broke the law there's gotta be charges and they're gonna be sentences of four people that have cell used in broken our system and it can't be just one tall guy like Clint Smith there were too many people including rose and starts and I was writing a home your to chew even worried the application for a warrant to devise a court before you signed that last one well what you don't understand I I generally understood what was in it demanded name Laurie what he swore every word of was true there's gotta be consequences for that I totally agree we got to do something about the FISA courts because like gone three years it took three years for them to even one album to react well you know we're not real sure we were getting the best from our F. B. I.'s so if people have done that in your court Louis you would have issued an order to show cause as to why they should be held in contempt you know I mean you know when the FISA courts as well tell us more about what you think that is not how we judge Louie Gohmert ahead you to hold people in criminal contempt if they did on that night crime and and then to say tell us how you're going to fix your own system where you used it to come alive to me occurred commit a fraud on the court no no no you don't as they might help their going to fix it you say you're going to check a hole for price on the got me like in the SP I learned steel was a liar going back and saying well now that we know you're a liar maybe we tell some truth will thank you Louis for lead on that I got to bring it back to to the Texas because I know you got some Texans who don't have dry eyes on the on the pillow tonight as a consequence of the violence there we've already seen the radical left reflexively revert to their to their position on gun control and they say that the real answer here is that we've got to deprive law abiding citizens of access to their rights your response well it thank god for the people that have guns there I couldn't believe how quickly though the one that I have church member raised his weapon and fired so accurately that's why they were only to kill I mean it it's an eight if you look at the state well what California has the strictest gun control of any state and I've had more mass shootings in any other place in the country that you say it all but mad it goes back to what John Adams said that this constitution is intended for a moral and religious people wholly inadequate for the government of any other if we're not gonna teach kids what is right and wrong and they're not if everything is relative there are absolute rights and wrongs and not everybody's going to have a safe space and we're gonna get along and we're not going to be violent until we start getting back to that then we're going to be in trouble and they're gonna be more more efforts to check why constitutional rights because it only works for moral and religious people and they're too many people that have taken the others a strike you have heard directly from judge Gomer himself my good friend and mentor in the Congress he wants heads rolling at the FBI he wants more transparency thank you so much for being on with me lately much appreciated this is congressman about gates I'll be back on.

"Twenty-three. I'm Kim Gordon in the WGN newsroom. Ready to join the conversation live whenever a story changes uh Chicago's very own seven twenty WGN. I would like to say him all her work and the northwestern medicine newsroom. Big busy day town, scaling is joining us, courtesy of permits heel basement systems and Tom right before we get started with our conversation. Here report something that is developing right now Carson Matt gaetz who is from Florida. Sort of a prominent national Republican now just tweeted something out Michael Collins about to appear in open session tomorrow, accompanied by our own Mike Monico lawyer for this show as we keep interesting. The company around yesterday. And and Mike Michael Cohen as Mike. Your Michael Cohen is about to appear in France committee in which congressman gets sits. And listen to this tweet that congressman gets just put up. Hey, Michael Cohen, do your wife and father in law know about your girlfriend's. Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she'll remain faithful when you're in prison, she's about to learn a lot. That's a sitting United States congressman. Tweeting about a guy who's about to be a witness in a hearing in the United States, Congress about to drop a girlfriend rumor or whatever it is. Maybe they're gonna ask about that tomorrow, or whatever it happens to be baby in an effort to dirty up and say, listen, this guy's a liar. And he's cheater, and he said this he has to say, but that that in advance of testimony. Could be considered witness tampering. I call Mike Monico about this. But he's with Michael colored right now, representing he's not allowed to talk to us. They're never never any lack of surprises in this whole saga is there. No are there. No, it's amazing. He says he's challenging the veracity and character of the witness not intimidating. But boy, I don't know there seems to be a better way to do that. Yeah. Shit on that particular moment information. Wow. That's that's amazing. Wow. So is this getting I imagine a lot of cover. Yes. It's just kind of breaking now is coverage. I've I've reached out to Michael Collins attorneys to see if there's any comment. It's it's crazy. I mean, fine. If they want to bring it up in testimony tomorrow five fair game for doing it in advance of the testimony. Like, hey, you really wanna go sit out that is. I just I don't understand how we got here. Well, no, we're we're going. I don't understand where these questions, folks. Like, Matt Katz think they're gonna take the Republican party. If this if this is the new political tactic. Now, this is not the American ideal. And I understand the Michael Cohen was is that the American ideal either. But let's let's let's be honest here. Michael Cohen is only in this situation because he was the president's private lawyer. Is that like he was an enemy a lifelong enemy of the present. He was his friend. Right. That's how we got here. That's how we all got here. And now we're trying to and I think that congress should gets and other Republicans should be interested in ensuring that the president of the United States wasn't involved in various actions as much as any democrat is. And I know this is just purely political. It clearly is not purely political. There have been Republicans for years talking about this the Republicans Iran against them there James Colmey, these guys when they go in to do their jobs. They're not Republicans Democrats there at the FBI or special counsel wherever they are. But these are guys are all lifelong registered Republicans who now look at their own party and go what is happening here, we do not want to become EU cranium political systems. Style thugs in the United States. We don't want to even though that's who all these friends of friends of all these guys were we don't want that. Whether it's Manafort or Cohen because he comes from that too. He's got Scott family actually involved in that. And he's and Donald Trump was trying to build a tower. I dunno. I please please make this state would be interesting to know where this little tidbit came from. Wouldn't it? That's what I was thinking the veracity of anybody doubt that Michael Cohen his girlfriends 'cause I can tell you right now. I don't doubt it, and if that were to come up in testimony. What do you think about that? Because that's fair game. If you're trying to impugn the credibility of the witness, but to bring it up before the testimony with the hope that maybe he'll step away from the testimony. That is classic tampering seems pretty textbook interesting. Yeah. Would that typically be tapering crime? Yes. When it's absolutely interesting. Absolutely now, he's now he's coming out and saying listen, I'm just talking about the veracity of the witness. No, you're not in advance of the that's fine. You can do that in in the courtroom. But it's sort of it's kind of like. Kind of like the judge like, you know, you're going to going to going to court, right? And I know you're going to court and a juror goes on Twitter and says you better not show up at court tomorrow because we're going to ask you about your girlfriends, right? I say, well, maybe that jersian beyond the jury. Right. And that's and that doesn't seem and I-. I this is it's almost as if these guys want to kill the Republican party not help it. Well, there was a comment made a couple of weeks ago. But, you know, check into his father that came from the president. Yeah. Well, that's but people have to his father, the one of the reasons it, Mike Monico Zimbabwe. Chicago lawyers are now involved in this is because Mike Monaco's father, Mike, Mike, Michael Collins, father in law was involved in tex- cab business in New York. And also a little bit here in Chicago. So there was a familiarity here with with lawyers and regulators and stuff like that. Yeah. So that's that's kind of weird. That's where there's a nexus there. Well, you couldn't write this stuff. You know, we always say it, you know. You couldn't come up with this stuff. Well, except on a Netflix or comparable series or something along better when it's not real life. From the house of cards kinda thing. I know is. It is. It's well because I if you stop and you'll get this. You just cannot can't stop. But but be stunned by in the middle. And then we're gonna have em kindergar- on a little bit later on. We have him on all the time. But he's a Chicago area. Republican congressman who's one of those guys who get has has traditionally stood up for you know, just about policy and for decorum and doing the right thing and for being. Not not being a bully partisan. But but making you wanna make your argument, you can make it certainly strongly, but you don't necessarily have to call your your political enemy the enemy of the people or human search of things that we're now seeing is he still deployed down on the border. Now, he's back. He was in Washington. Today's wherever now now he's siding with the president. That's why we're having him on. He's siding with the president of the need for a while based on what his what he saw during his deployment. So well, we'll talk to him about that coming up after five thirty. But that's and that's listen that's reasonable. And we had a Mark McKinnon on from the circus on Showtime who this week had sat down with Dan Crenshaw. Who's the congressman first term congressman former US navy seal? And he was the guy that was on Saturday night. Live is the I patch and and Pete Davidson made fun of him on one week. And then he came on weekend update the following week. To accept his apology from from Pete Davidson, which is great. And it was it was it was a beautiful moment. Two sides coming together and just say, and he's a brilliant guy who's all about trying to create a coalition here as opposed to further division, and that's one of the arguments. He's man he's and he's also for the explaining why because wall works for other reasons, and and so when you have a calm conversation about it minds can be changed when you stand up and go I want to walk is going to make me look bad. If I don't get it minds will not be changed. I'm sorry to drag your window. Yeah. We kind of dragging. You've got a lot of Republicans who are now saying, well, hey, we're not sure even if there is justification for this kind of thing, maybe we shouldn't be allowing the president just this might not fall in that category of the crisis that he says he's he's losing a few Republicans on that front. Not Adam Kinser who doesn't look like the he doesn't see the immigration part of this is the crisis, but he looks at the human trafficking, and the drug passage is being more of the crisis that he wants to sort of parsing some of what the president is saying it's a very dangerous game though. They're they've they're throwing in with a guy who's their guy. He's Republican presidents. I get Republicans rallying around is Democrats are really random present. They're doing that the throwing them with a guy who doesn't really care about their brand in the long run. And that's where I think that's where I think a lot of Republicans are feeling very much like. Like, they've got appendicitis. Island. Right. I mean there were like, oh, what are we going to do? Because they're they're feeling that pain is this. How are we going to get out from under this on the other side because because if if the president changes the norms and the rules of engagement, and even even the laws tries to get the laws challenged by the supreme court. And this report courtside to them that changes the direction the United States. And I think there's a lot of Republicans are not completely comfortable with that. Because then if any president wants to declare anything national emergency there is no more constitutional presidency. It's now it's a kingdom. Yeah. Well, in also, isn't that the role of congress the money radically? Imagine. And they've definitively voted at least one house that they don't want this. That's how Madison wrote it. I just hate to get all like we're gonna try cornered hat like they did like their father father on us and walking around I leave that to John Williams. But this is this is really this is a significant issue that that certainly the tea party folks for were very animated about in the early twenty teams and don't seem they seem to have given up on that now because it's their guy doing it. Yes. Well, I'll tell you. It's it's shortly makes for fascinating viewing all have a stake in this this whole thing. So you kind of wonder what the next twist and turn will be. But this is an interesting development. Very interesting. What were those times we just heard is there some kind of major weather? No about another one of my marketing calls, I guess phone. I. Weather. Michelle relating China. Muted this thing. And apparently, you know technology in me don't get along. Very well, Tom. Did you vote today? I did. Yes. Do you realize that you're one of only fifteen people that voted, and I know three of them is that the tournament turn out is incredibly people. So the fourteen candidates and Tom skilling. The deciding vote, right? Turns out it's all on you. Thank something. I yeah. I mean, that's a right that we should really take advantage of. And if if all that's going on right now has communicated nothing to us the importance of our vote. Elected leadership, Tom skilling. Yeah. These critical issues. Exactly. Yeah. Here's the one thing we can all agree on is you should vote. And if you don't vote, you don't get to complain about it, and I vote, and I get I'm on that list. You know, where he voted very creepy that they're doing this Mailer in Chicago. This will probably happen in the next. Your your neighbors voted why haven't you or your neighbors having voted, and they tell you go tell your neighbors to vote, and it's like what? Now, I'll ask intrusive. But you you did vote today or early vote. No, I voted today. You voted today often voted early, but then I've gotten stuck on these weekend lines. And I decided, you know, we've got a polling police right in my building. So actually nothing for God's sake. Yeah. Offhand? You take the elevator down. And, you know, did you did you notice what time of day? Did you vote about eight thirty this morning was number. No, you know, there were people there. But no, it was there were people voting, but it wasn't crowded. No there any young people voting. We seem to not be held them. We're older. Now. I, you know, then it may be a part of the part of the building. We're seeing we're seeing that though because we we actually have a demographic breakdown. Clock this morning and sixty two percent were over the age of fifty. And they said if you take all the people over sixty five who voted it exceeds all age groups below forty four right? Yeah.
