Should The Simpsons Cast Be Replaced With AI Voice "Actors"?
"With most of the actors who voiced characters on the simpsons well into retirement age and the show seemingly having no intention of ever stopping a meeting. Cut wallover at wired. Uk wondered. could the actors all be replaced with a i rep locations. It makes a bit of sense off the bat. Near the proliferation of deepfakes circulating online aside major movie franchises have increasingly been patching together old footage of actors who have passed away like carrie fisher and the rise of skywalker and paul walker and furious. Seven or even just to fabricate a younger version of an actor who coincidentally had an entire body of work from their teenage years to use as reference points like robert. Downey junior in captain. America's civil war and will smith in jimmy man and with the simpsons. You only have to create the voice shortly. that's far easier especially with over three decades of content to pull from wired turn to tim. Mixed smithers canada-based. Ai researcher and media producer. Who builds a speech model that can be trained to mimic anyone's voice and notably has already recreated homer simpson for a few youtube videos including one where homer stands in for julia roberts in notting hill. Here's how he does it. Quoting wired mic smithers built generic. Ai model that can turn any text into audio speech in english when he wants to make a new voice he tunes the model further with two or three hours of new data of that particular person. Speaking along with a text transcript it focuses in on what makes a homer voice a homer voice and the different frequencies. He says after that it's a matter of asking the model to generate multiple takes. Each one will vary slightly and choosing the best one for your purposes and quotes bonnets. The performance is pretty flat as wired. Says it's quote as if he's reading out something that he doesn't really understand the meaning of and quotes which is pretty apt for homer still in the hut the performance. The show would probably be looking for there are other startups around. The world. Likes an antic in the uk and replica studios in australia. That are working to add. Some of that emotional resonance to a voice is using actual actors to help train them performing different lines over and over again with different emotional tones. Technically if you had someone recite all the existing phonemes in the english language or redescendu since that contained them all you should be able to then piece together any possible words. He wants but in reality. People's accents emotions can change things just slightly enough to make the process exceptionally challenging. Although absolutely doable and the time it takes to train the ai decreases over time with more data. Both semantic and replica studios who work primarily with video games where. There's a lot of intriguing possibilities with things like getting a character to say the player's name or whatever. The player wants them to or having a i basically work as a stand in until a real actor comes on board both of those companies say the actors they work with get paid anytime their voices are used in a game and this is a key element for me. Not just what rights doesn't actor have if they're only ever used to train in ai and not perform roll themselves so to speak but taking this back to the simpsons what rights do actors have whose voices are recreated to be their characters the screen actors guild affords actors certain bargaining rights over the use of their likeness. Which does explicitly extend to a performer's voice and while his protection is being rapidly expanded and reexamined as technology evolves you can impart think crispin glover for its origins after crispin glover declined to revive his role as george mic. Fly in back to the future. Part two they technically recast him. But they saddled the new actor. Geoffrey wiseman with prosthetics and employed classic stage tricks like having him upside down or wearing sunglasses to obscure his features as well as the use of some footage of glover himself from the first movie. Unless you were well aware that glover hadn't returned for the sequel. You probably wouldn't have had any idea that the george mcphee racine was any different from the first movie so glover sued the producers for using his likeness without his permission and for not paying him for the use of the footage. He shot for the first movie. But the legality of all of this now banned far beyond simply using a performance likeness and in many cases. Who is allowed to do what isn't so clear. There's copyright law which could give authority to the studio or whoever owns the rights but that counteracts with the right to publicity basically crispin glover thing and that's especially tenuous with cast as well known as the ones from the simpsons. You know a lot of people know these actors and if in a i replicated homer were out there. Advertising for some product people might assume dan castellaneta who voices homer is endorsing the product even if he had nothing to do with it so it's a tricky path to tread and personally. I'm a bit wary about the idea of ai. Replacing actors were any type of artists. Mean that's not to say that i don't want. Ai involved in arts. I think various tech can produce really rad art. I just don't think it can replace human-made arts and especially with something like the simpsons you know on the one hand. It's been on so long that it's the perfect fodder for ai. Replicated voices because then it could live on beyond the actors. And i guess honor them in some way but on the other hand. It's been so long that there are countless voice actors out there who can nail the characters voices perfectly and probably with more emotion.

Coaching with Lucien Lu - Piano Teaching Via Flash Briefing
"Right so here we are with the one and only Lucien Lou. Lucien for people that were at project voice. You are no stranger to those people there. Because you're the guy carrying around all the camera gear and doing an amazing job of capturing all the content solution. Welcome to the PODCAST. We have a really cool project that we're going to work on together. Nobody take a moment here. Tell everybody who you are terrier. Really appreciate that. The shout and everything. It's just been super amazing to actually work with the one. And Only Dr Carrie Fisher Terry V as they call him on the streets Stupor Super Amazing. Learn tons of things and I enjoy being. Ll Rock for the few days that we were there. So superseded about flash briefings and who? I actually had a question. As Piano Teacher I teach panel of how can I actually get on this flash briefing How can I make it Alexa skill? Like so many questions as an entirely new person it just completely I do not know anything about flash briefings or waste so who else to go to turvy so awesome. That's that's awesome. So this is this is this is the idea. I think this is a pretty neat idea because what we're going to do is I want to help out Lucien Lesions and awesome guy like I say. He's a big big part of the team. Now part of the Doctor Terry Fisher brand team and election candidates for cells in everything that's going on and Lucien wants to as he said create a flash briefing and this is going to be an opportunity for the audience to listen in and hear about what goes into creating a good fuss briefing in the process in what you need to consider. And what's important? What's not important and how we can do this. So Lucien right now the way things are because I think this is good for people to know. Do you have much of a presence on the voice devices because it's interesting to note people where you're starting from a complete scratch. Man I have no podcasts. Have NO FLASH BRIEFING GROUND ZERO RIGHT NOW all right? But you're on tick tock and I have to say that when we're in Chattanooga crazy you happen to run into a fan that new. Your doc is not true man so so huge style that actually super crazy it is amazing that you guys see that But Yeah Tick Tock. Video is my more my presence. Youtube is grim. And Tick Tock but man. I'm saying like audio being the next thing asked where I wanna be okay. Perfect and being a piano teacher. I mean it makes a lot of sense okay. So here's the so. We got the premise. You WanNA create a flash briefing. You WanNa get on voice so just share a little bit of your thoughts now like what? What do you want this flash briefing to do? What's the purpose of a vast region definitely so Every day I I WANNA be able to give advice to people trying to learn piano and so whether it's a tip that helps that helps you learn how to practice better our sight reading your training. It's something that will help you become a better musician. A tip that allows out of practice. I'll give you an exerciser play. Not In the name exercises everyday. Great Great and Annette's sounds perfect little short little bit little tip and somebody can can go ahead and so one of the things that I always talk about. When I'm thinking about you know creating briefings to help people help helping other people to create by sweeping is what problem are you solving and I that may be self explanatory for this but it sounds like the idea here is. You're trying to help a person who's wants to learn how to play the piano. Be More efficient with that is that is that sort of a fair statement hundred percent on all right and does it matter if they're like a beginner or more advanced person or have you thought about like who would who's going to be geared towards us right so this one is going to be geared toward toward the beginners the people who are jumping onto. Actually this APP called simply piano so many kids are so many new adults jumping into piano are learning from APPS and so i. I don't doubt that they would be the ones to be jumping on board with a voice device take advice and to learn more about Danone and transition from just an APP. Just a game that they play into an actual skill that they have so. That's right where I see appropriate That's awesome and obviously one of the things is you know if they're going to be listening to your first briefing. They wanted. They wanted to be listening to something. That's got some expertise and we didn't say this you have. You do have a lot of expertise. You have the credentials so maybe just share that with us. Like what makes you a guy that can teach piano appreciate that? Yeah man it's So my background. I've been playing piano since I was four. Twenty four years old right now. Seven plan for twenty years. I at age. Fourteen cheese three diplomas in piano. Meyer St Performers Gt Teachers in my global licentious Lennon. College music so it's it's been a huge part of my life and I do have an Asian parents asiapac upbringing. So it's like A. It's kind of like a mandatory right right of passage kind of thing. I really appreciative in super fortunate to this kind of background and I just really want to get back to this community that that where learned from so Yemen. It's Janelle teachings been part of my life is only

"Like licking his lips. He's he's stroking so there's something like so like sexual about it but it's a movie for kids so was there lots of joking on the set about like the deeper. Sem Imagery of this scene. Oh what my joke was when we first I for her stood there brought in front of job. They talked to job. A job talks to Harrison and mark and then there led off. I never they never say. Hey Hey how are you. So as they were being led off I said in the rehearsal. Don't worry about me I'll be fine seriously Which I thought they should've kept in their shoes like all those sure? They're going to be digested for two thousand thousand years. But I have to stay with the slug with the big tongue and nearly naked naked which is not a you know style choice for me. Let's get back to our interview with Carrie Fisher recorded in November number twenty sixteen. She died one month later on December twenty seventh the following day December. Twenty eighth her mother. Debbie Reynolds died. Your mother is Debbie Reynolds. You had a very contentious relationship with her when you were a teenager. And I think that probably continued into your twenty s and that you know you worked in her her Broadway show you were you were in the chorus of that. He Sang in her Broadway. Act You know in her cabaret act for a while so you work together the other in some ways you were very close in some ways like very far apart you were anxious to move away from home. How did your relationship change as she became an older woman? Like when you became elect now like your middle-age cheese or or or older. She's in her eighties. What's is the relationships? Contentious says a chain. Not at all I can appreciate. She's an immensely powerful woman and I just admire my mother very much. She also annoys me sometimes when she's mad at the nurses but you know she's an extraordinary every woman extraordinary. There's very few women for her generation. Who worked like that? Who just kept a career going all her life and raise children and had horrible relationships and lost all our money and got it back again? I mean she said an amazing in life and She's someone to admire. Did you appreciate her strength. And her accomplishments more as you got the older the whole God. Yeah when I was a kid I just thought she was someone who was telling me what to do and I didn't WanNa do it. How did you you feel about her celebrity? When you're young? Was it helpful. Was it intrusive. Well it I had to share her and I didn't like that when we went out people sort of walked over me to get to her and no. I didn't like it. I didn't like it and I you know people thought that I overheard someone saying what she thinks. She's so great because she's Debbie Reynolds daughter and and I didn't like it made me different from other people. I wanted to be the same I wanted to be. You know just no Jeffrey than anybody else. Your mother's most iconic film is singing in the rain You know one of the great musicals of of all time. What are your your thoughts about the movie and if you like like it now did you always or did it? Take you awhile to appreciate that film. No I always liked it. It's brilliant Irene to to do the transition from sound from silent to sound is a brilliant brilliant time to focus on and what was interesting interesting to me is that there's three people acting in the movie then it's two men and a female and the same with Star Wars and both movies were sort of a conic at well would they did the five ten top films and one was singing in the rain and one was star wars. That's so great. You're on the list together. I know you're right that you felt doomed to have bad relationships with men. That's what you've seen Eddie Fisher. Your father walked out on your mother when you were to to be with. Elizabeth Taylor Your mother's second husband Spent all her money. I mean left her with nothing the left her with nothing and and she had to pay his jets so future earnings went to him. Everything she made went to his jets to Harry Karl who was also having sex with hookers the entire length of their relationship which she found out later on. So did we so. It was a very interesting childhood so when women dressed like you at comecon conventions what do you most frequently see reflected back at. You like which which costumes which hairdos my favorite one. To see is the Metal Bikini on men that is happening a lot. Oh absolutely absolutely a lot and not thin men by the way that's hilarious. Yeah so that makes me feel good about myself kind of a before and after thing this is way after. Not only is Princess Leia fatter. She's a guy all right Carrie Fisher thank you so much for talking with us. We'll thanks for talking to me. Carrie Fisher recorded in November twenty sixteen one month before her death. "Just to me the boy no no no yours. You're not good. Meryl Streep from the Soundtrack of the Stephen Sondheim musical into the woods. Did Stephen Sondheim work with you at all on that a little bit. What he did was he? He wrote me a new. You Song that we recorded but was taken out of the movie because of length but he played it for me in his apartment and sang it to me. I mean it's one of the great. Most cherished memories of my life is just that little hallowed afternoon where he played this magical thing for me and And I think he's great composer. Oh yeah the musical school theater so yes it was like come on. I could die now. Do you know who you are singing as yourself have only seen you sing and character and yet one in your one year in like a rock musical rookie in the flash and in postcards from the edge you're seeing more I don't know but somewhere between like well there's a country and western song and then there's more you know yeah and postcards. Yeah yeah so like I don't know I don't have a sense of like if I said tonight Meryl Streep in Concert. I don't know what you'd sing or how you well it would be a very show I don't know I I don't really does that. A warm up. It's like okay. Well one Christmas I remember when I was twelve. My mother decided to in front of the whole family. The gathered family including my formidable grandmother. Mamie she said Merrill sank. Oh holy night in French and Merrill Sing it now and I have never if I ever have to play a person who is Over come with fear and terror. I go back to that moment because I was just. I hadn't had any any trouble singing in the in the Christmas concert but standing in the living room in front of my whole family all my you know so annoying brothers and my cousins and everybody looking at me. I just went crazy just was like shaking remember shake everything is shaking and I thought I don't like this feeling. I think I'm not a natural performer. I think I'm an actor okay. Getting back to music. I want to play something else in. This is from post cards postcards from the edge which was made in nineteen ninety directed by the now late. Mike Nichols based on a book by Carrie Fisher Carrie Fisher. Yes and it's it's kind of. It's kind of biographical so so you've been in Rehab. You're kind of trying to figure out your life in this your character and your mother who is modelled on Carrie. Fisher's mother. Debbie Reynolds is a singer and performer. who was big and musicals in the fifties and sixties? You've been living with her. There's a party at her place and you're asked to sing. It's funny that I spoke about my that moment in my grandmother's house because it was very similar Shirley maclaine plays my mother. She makes me do this. And I've just gotten out of Rehab and a my characters very tender and raw and she kind of more or less forces made it to get up in front of all these people and sing so that's very deflected and sort of a lot of excuses built into singing something that actually means something and and still. It's almost this little tiny voice from from somewhere deep inside in that her mother gets up and sings Stephen Sondheim. I'm still here and throws her legs up on on the piano and the red sequined dress and it's just blows her daughter out of the water once again I really liked her performance in that. You've been living with her. There's a party at her place and you're asked to sing so you go up to I forget if it's a guitarist taurus pianist and you start working working with and the song is you don't know me so. Here's Meryl Streep from postcards parts from the edge that okay you give you hand me that Charleston and then you say Hello Lou knocking on this thing Anyone can to us. Thank you know.
A Review of "The Rise of Skywalker"
"Welcome to the twenty minute movie review. Today's movie is the rise of skywalker in movie directed by J.J. Abrams starring Adam driver Daisy Ridley and company with a run time of about two hours and sixteen minutes. This review is certainly a very emotional one for me This is a movie. I've been waiting for for some time. It's the final chapter in the skywalker. Saga which spans over forty plus years. You know. I remember going to see my first when I was about six or seven. So you can kind of calculate how old I am from that But I gotta say without sounding cornball or cheesy. This is a very tough goodbye. There's a lot of things I'm GONNA touch on. I'm trying my best to keep Leonard Twenty minutes. This is the only one I have a lot of trouble with because I have so many thoughts We saw the movie on Thursday night a day before it opens up nationally. And and I have my awesome star. Wars Park on I have my beautiful Star Wars crocs. Yes I said that correctly star wars crocs Fox they are phenomenal but it was a Thursday showing nine fifty match three. By the way. If you haven't seen a movie that way okay. I cannot recommend that enough I max an three d together are just. It's a whole different ballgame. It's it's amazing but it's so refreshing to kind of look around around and see all these passionate star wars fans just here for that last chapter to here to say goodbye it. I'm not saying it didn't feel like a funeral. Oh it felt more like a thank you and thanks for everything. Thanks for the memories. That's the way I certainly felt and I could tell other people kind of had that same mentality -ality except for the kids sitting behind me. You know drinking talking sporadically throughout the movie. Please and I've said this a lot if you go to the movies and you feel like you're one of those people that can't shut their mouths. You can't stay off your cell phone please. Just don't go stay home like this. Movie is one that people the winning for for years and years and years and you know these kids innocent enough. We've all been there but kind god'll just stay home. I mean I'm tickets are not cheap to begin with and to. There's so many people there because they there to say goodbye to this the skywalker Guy Walker. Saga they're there to say goodbye to this franchise. It's been their life. I mentioned my case forty plus years for so many years and for someone to think think they can destroy that and take that apart that bothers me. There was a few other issues in the theater. Not near me. It's like a re stuff online about people being on their cell L. Phone and of course there's absolute eight holes that on facebook wherever that loved to ruin movies and post spoilers and it's just I don't okay people like there's people that just seemingly loved destroying your joy that extends outside of movies as well and it's like you know go f yourself like you're not here I mean it's just it's a very sick mentality to have it really truly is and long story short they completely destroy the movie for us. I I you know you'll hear from I review what I think of the movie but I don't know I'll never understand people that go to theaters and maybe it's subconsciously so you don't realize they're absolutely destroying movie even when you're like innocently talking to somebody next to you. You know many times older people do this. And not realize they're talking out loud like for me the cinemas Mike Cathedral the church is Mike. If you dress where I go to just you know just just key decompress. It's a place of passion for me. It's a place of solitude for me I love it and for people to go there and kind of ruin that I have so many problems with but let's move on with the good stuff. Okay so the rise of skywalker emission as almost a two and two hour and twenty minute runtime and it did feel like Our saying goodbye to a friend and I don't know the movie looks phenomenal the movie itself when you sit there the movie just POPs off the screen it this so good so well put together from that point of view from just popping off the screen the way it looks it's Jj that's such a great job with that I I gotTa tell you what I loved about them. If you're right so that was one I love you. And you'll see that the force kinda takes a new level right. The powers displayed by those who have the force in this movie. Rise to a new level in that was awesome so awesome. I love the fact that the gang was all back together. That made me feel so happy to finally after all these movies. You See Paul and thin and you know ray together. It was really great C. Three Po rt to they're all Carrie Fisher to some degree to it so to see them together. And that's rewarding in itself you. You know there's some other things The Sixth Planet I thought was kind of cool. Little thing there. You'll see that when you guys go to the theater not again none of these. I don't think our spoilers or take away from the movie. Palpitation is really really scary. Gary and again you see him in the trailer. So it's not really a spoiler but Palpa Emperor Pal Patine went from a guy who is just flat out evil to now. He's it's just pretty much like the devil and I love how they did that. It was a so creative so wonderful so kind of original the way they did that. People like world. We need palpitation back in the movie. You could debate that. I love the way they did. It I thought I was worried coming into it saying. Why are they recycling? Emperor Powell between but such a great job in how they did it I WANNA say and I know people say this all the time when a great performance on three and like Oh that person she wouldn't award or that person should it'd be nominated that being said me being a hypocrite. Just now I'm GonNa tell you Adam driver in daisy Ridley both serve some type of recognition for this and I'm not talking about people saying how great I'm saying Academy Award Nomination Good. They are so good in this movie. I was not expecting it. I know they're both phenomenal actors actors. I was not expecting what I saw today. And I compare this to the last movie. I reviewed the Irishman. I know it's a completely different type of movie movie but acting is acting in these two. Were beyond any acting. I saw in the Irishman. Adam driver has taken it to another level level. He is just you know he is solid a-list at this point but his ability is is scary. Good I didn't realize he was this good. And boy support around display and boy. When you see it you will be absolutely rewarded for going to this movie? Just based on his acting alone. I love light speed skipping get being negative show a little bit of light speed skipping that is worth it so for all the reasons I just mentioned. It's one hundred percents worth seeing. And you have the phenomenal John Williams Liam soundtrack who has left us. You know we'll get Indiana Jones Star Wars. John Williams has done so much for us as a composer. You're glad it's almost like expect greatness. And he delivers every time. It's obviously his last movie. I'm doing a score for Star Wars and I love how they ended with John Williams composer her score. I love that he was so good and he has a and I noticed it because I listen to music. He has a brief cameo in the film. which is Kinda cool as bartender so beyond offer that that is John Williams? We'll notice that I noticed it because I'm a nerd It it was. It was a really kind of cool a little cameo but the music is just so good the movie itself up to this point. I can't recommend it enough. Go see it. It's just so oh good and if you if you're like me if you've grown up with this you have a legitimate passion. You have a legitimate love for this franchise absolutely to go see it because what I've listed in the first ten minutes of this review is enough to warrant you going to see this.
Tributes, standing ovation at 'Rise of Skywalker' premiere
"The rise of sky Walker is the nine Star Wars movie and the final featuring the sky Walker plan producer director J. J. Abrams says he's feeling relief finally showing the film I'm you know it's been this weeks I love this past agree so much it's a movie that says goodbye to Luke sky Walker and princes Leia laid by Carrie Fisher who died almost three years ago screenwriter Chris Terrio says Fisher easy and the rise of sky Walker we were so lucky sort of glass to have and so our first you know two or three months of the writing process really just about how we keep hairy and her heart and soul and rain and presence in the movie Terry says shooting the movie was bitter sweet I thought well that's one less they will get to spend in the Star Wars galaxy I'm AT Donahue
Tech resurrects James Dean for a new movie
"The Hollywood reporter reporter ran an article. That says James Dean will be brought back on film now. James Dean has been dead since one thousand nine hundred fifty five also. The role is considered the secondary lead. So you're you're going to get a lot of. CG James Dean. The film is called a finding Jack by the CEO of CMG worldwide which represents Danes family said to quote. This opens up a whole new opportunity for many of our clients who are no longer with us Ben just because we have this technology. Should we not doing this. Is this right. Is it right Look we'll see if the movie is successful because unfortunately if it is successful you'll see a lot of copycatting adding that's how Hollywood. That's how Hollywood works. That's how a lot of entertainment works a problem that I have here from reading the Hollywood reporter story is that They said they spent a lot of time. Trying to find the right secondary lead for this part and then determined that a CGI. James Dean was their rest option. I'm not buying that. Yeah I mean how bad is your talent pool such that you can't go like hey possible. James Franco's pretty close like he was kind of looks like extraordinaire to the role. Maybe maybe could find an unknown but yes deficit. Sounds like a gimmick but the idea that the the talent agencies like Oh a lot of our guys are happened happened to be dead we can bring him back. It just sounds like a terrible terrible idea so if you want to look at this very cynically to this has the possibility going back to here. James Franco example of avoiding having to pay a very large sums of money to living well known actors and instead putting a completely really unknown person in a CGI out fed. And then slapping a James Dean skin on them and then calling it a day. It is entirely possible that they would save a lot of money doing this. But I'm not really sure what the dollars and sense are here. So you're thinking that there's going to be a mo cap man or mo cap person running around on stage with whoever the actually does wouldn't wouldn't mo cap motion capture bow cap okay. I'm totally with it. So they are hiring an actor to do the voice though of James Dean so the question. This is a terrible idea. I don't I don't love it and We've we've certainly seen other examples of this before but certainly not not for a lead character. Like for instance. Carrie Fisher is a good example where they did a young version of Carrie Fisher for one of the Star Wars Movies but Young Carrie Fisher didn't exist anymore. She was his older Carrie Fisher at that point so it's in that part it's unavoidable and I would have been I'm more okay with that example I duNno. I just really really curious what this is going to do could this. CG James Dean Win an academy award if is it possible. You're hurting my head I okay. Let's let's let's. Let's talk with that aside.
‘The Rise Of Skywalker’: Advance Ticket Sales More Than Other ‘Star Wars’ Pics On Fandango
"Five it is still nearly two months away but online ticket sales for the final Star Wars movie are hot WBZ has been Parker spoke with ABC entertainment correspondent Jason Nathanson about the hype so the final trailer is out for the final movie in the Star Wars saga and jay-z's suit and it looks like it's gonna be a hit because the pre sale tickets are hitting the internet now already set his records yeah this is the first indication that we knew this was going to be big because like you said this is the final film in the nine episode Star Wars triple trilogy the nine all Gee I don't know exactly what the the toward the terminology is for that but it's the one that started in nineteen seventy seven with the first three films with rocky films for five and six then you had the prequels which were one two and three and now for the past few years we've got seven and eight this will be the ninth film in the final film in the sky Walker saga so they're calling it and so we know it's going to be bad it is the patient's hot people want to see this film so this was the third trailer that dropped for it and never do we ever talk about third trailers I mean sometimes we talk about first trailers when they come out because people want to get their first look at the film but the third trailer problems seem to trail is already we already know some stuff so the fact that we've been talking about a third trailer means that day also it was time to well the the dropping of the pre sale tickets the online presale tickets the first chance for those really Die Hard fans to get those tickets and Adam tickets one of the big online retailers said in the first hour of presale tickets it was the biggest thing that they've ever seen by far bigger than the vendors and game which was the previous champ by forty five percent and if you remember Avengers and game this year set the record for the highest grossing movie of all time worldwide I don't know that that's going to be the case here but it's our first indication of what might be and it's almost two months away before the movie even hits theaters on on December the twentieth so clearly there's a lot of excitement after seeing the trailers I am and I know the people like to speculate about what's going to happen in a movie what is the buzz on the street about what's going to happen here or do we just I know isn't that close to the vest I mean if it is a little bit I if you if you're a huge Star Wars fan you already know you've been parsing through this thing you know and then freeze framing on every second so you you've been really dismantling it and that's all over the internet articles about did you see what happened at that that minute one thirty two and what happened there but some of the big takeaways are a lot of princess Leia Carrie Fisher who course died a couple years ago and she had filmed a bunch of stuff for the first film and for the second film and so they're using some of the footage that they weren't able to use the first time around to put her it's not and they have we knew that she was going to be there that wasn't a surprise but they give her some very poignant lines in some poignant looks in some poignant hugs and one of the themes that has a lot of people kind of sad is there's a line there C. three PO the robot is looking at all of it is assembled friends and he says taking one last look at my friends so there's that are they getting killed C. three PO and Kenny killer robot that is what happened there a lot of questions WBZ's Ben Parker speaking with ABC's Jason
Union for Actors Raises Concerns Around Deep Fake Technology in Hollywood
"Digital video technology is advancing fast and that gives Hollywood a lot more creative freedom in storytelling like the uncanny resurrection of deceased actor Peter Cushing in star wars rogue one. It's no surprise there are some frightening implications that come with eerily accurate digital simulations or manipulations of real people and the Union that represents actors is raising the alarm for how damaging deep fake video technology can be to its members. Eric Garner covered this topic for the Hollywood reporter where he's a senior editor for Law and public policy and he began explaining how even though Hollywood has been developing visual effects for years deep fake technology comes with some unique unique challenges what makes us different is the ability to really use technology to blur the lines between falseness and reality in such a hyper focused way that people really can't tell the difference. That's what we mean by. Deep fakes deserve essentially video versions of Photoshop and they've been used for political use. There's a famous deep fake video of Nancy Pelosi one of Hillary Clinton so Howard deep fakes affecting Hollywood Hollywood right now well in several ways one is in a pornographic round where you know on a lot of porn sites. You might see celebrity doing things that she never did in real life and this is a concern too many actresses who see this as a violation of their privacy we also see deep fake technology being incorporated in to explore the boundaries of filmmaking where you know you might see something in deceptively edited in in such a way that you can't really tell that it actually didn't happen so you might see documentary made where deep big are used to showcase a point it has it's pluses and minuses. It's good features sure so bad features. A lot of people are concerned these days about the political realm and the pornographic around but I think everything needs to be explored. There is obviously a potentially positive use and I'm thinking say of an actor like Carrie Fisher who has passed away and everybody who is a part of the Carrie Fisher team says that if there's a way to bring her back to life essentially in the latest star wars movie using video technology that that is okay but there are also some laws that have been proposed some New York that are trying to get to the darker aspect of deep fake so what we're New York legislators talking about sure they wanted to make the ability to control one name amy image and likeness as a property right as opposed to just a privacy right and they proposed barring things using a digital replica decreed sexually explicit material they wanted to extend the protection action ones like this past that and they wanted to create a registry whereby the heirs of famous people could document their official control over their relatives name damage <hes>. It's a very big and broad law that with really. Really shake up things and give people both the right to stop the fakes as well as the ability to license everything from the holograms and what is the industry's perspective on this and where do people like the leaders of the screen actors guild where to their allegiances fall the actors are extremely in favour of doing such a thing they are concerned about their members privacy and their ability to control exploitation but then there are the studios broadcasters journalists and others who worried that you know cracking down on this sort of thing in such a word way my interfere with free speech. We're talking talking with Eric Gardner at the Hollywood reporter about deep fakes. Somebody you quote in your article. <hes> law professor at Loyola named Jennifer Rothman and she says that there's a potential problem with the idea of assigning rights of publicity implicity is a property right in that maybe through something like a bankruptcy that could be an asset that is claimed and that the new owner of that asset could exploit your right of publicity as if it were a transferable double asset. Is that directly or is that something that could actually happen one of the things that POPs up is the potential that say celebrity gets into debt and creditors my book to obtain foreclose <music> on that celebrities likeness rights or in a divorce a spouse might claim that the likeness bright's our community property and so you get to these sorts of things and you have all these sorts of interesting scenarios happen where someone might not be able to control their own likeness and while we haven't seen too many disputes about this so far we have seen a few actually the Goldman family they WANNA try to foreclose on O._J.. Simpson like yes right. Have they been successful. They blocked him from registering official accounts on twitter they weren't but that was before legislative started thinking about ways to distinguish between privacy and publicity. You know being crosby's his ex wife tried to go to four to get a piece of his publicity rights so these sorts of issues have been popping up slowly and I would expect to see more of that especially on new legislation
Toby Nap, Toby Knapp and Toby discussed on Toby and Chilli
"And theatrical stagecraft ne. Nothing like this has been done before. And if this works out Toby, can you imagine they did it one time with two pox, you Cour Coachella. But that was like a one time quick little weirded people out because you're bringing this person back and creating their art. And it's you know, it's a real like like that is and this is here's the thing. That's crazy too. With the way technology is yes, we could have a chillier mar we could have a Toby nap. Even though you don't have Toby Knapp for years because people record things, but I'm saying like if this worked out, and this was huge you could potentially have Michael Jackson concert holiday, discuss prince prince, hologram Elvis, who knows anybody who ever digitally recreated. Now, it's almost Princess Leia. She's going to be in the new Star Wars movie and Carrie Fisher passed away. So this is an entire new thing that we as a culture we're going to have to wrap our heads around. It's just make sure the ticket prices aren't as high because they're dead. I mean, they're not real Graham version. Should be a little bit less misogony on that.

"There there are also some moments with that that i think they missed an opportunity to add time dancing around the square root on a spoil it with is it a spoiler yes there are some opportunities so carrie fisher the actress is no longer with us yes all of us were wondering how that is going to play out in in this film so there were there were moments were all of us i think watching like okay this this is going to be like i was preparing myself and when it did not happen more than once it is that these these kind of fake outs and you made fun we before when offline last week in her dog that basically what it sounds like is that i'm upset that things did not i don't even phrases uh i'm not upset that she is still around where i feel like they missed opportunities the pull at our heartstrings more than they did why do you think this on the wanted do as the question i'm asking because i guess the concern not the concern that the reality was when carrie fisher passed recently they were like okay is everything done with episode aid was was her stuff done was at wrapped up how are they going to center off all these things and those were valid because when you have an actress die in a prominent who is the franchise those are valid questions so now i just i am left with more questions after this where i feel like this could have kind of rounded things out and nice bowed the end we'll the couldn't.

"Of the problem in her case carrie fisher according to the latest reports than they were issued today about her autopsy carrie fisher had cocaine methadone heroin and ecstasy in her system when she died last december that's according to an autopsy that they released today and i was reading the coroner's report was to sleep apnea though as the primary cause of death but drug intake exacerbates the problem it's a contributing factor if you're taking drugs that that reduced the respiratory rate your most certainly going to be uh you're certainly not going to be breathing properly even if you have a c pap she was on a plane so i'm sure that she had had problems because i i have not yet seen a a oh a c pap machine is portable you were going to an aircraft maybe somebody has one maybe not if not then there's an idea that you should patent and put on an aircraft of an and please send me the check for the idea of sean tobin somebody's thought of that ibn i'm not i'm not saying that i came up with a genius idea because it's genius of somebody 'cause that but anyway uh the coroner report said sleep apnea but the toxicology report in philosophy of founded to the results found that she had a a jeb another external examination which found the cocaine in the methadone and heroin according to the report carrie fisher may have ingested the cocaine is used three days before the flight and adding to the uncertainty about the cause of death the report also notes that she was exposed to heroin which could suppressed your breathing and she went into cardiac arrest will she was on the aircraft in addition to the illegal drugs fischer was also taking prozac kabila fi emma mic dole and that's a prescription of course she was also taking oxycodone without a prescription so she was getting supply with oxycodone and doing heroin and and she had exposed heroin and no she was doing she was exposed to it and this is a you know another example pool of i would say that this drug situation there been talking to us about it we we constantly get bombarded with this propaganda with regard to a major drug problems in this country of mainly with opiates and i've talked about this before in you know.
