"But. Like the Miami accent is so specific. pull it out of. It could be in a room of people screaming and if there's one person that's started talking like this. where? We fall into a it's like it's like, Madonna she was in Lia for how long? She's Everybody can you? Like. Like if I ever moved to Australia for a movie or something and I, come back, you know trying to like us an accident please. Same. Someone. A study abroad first semester and came back with an accent you're like. So like so fucking Miami like when people are like, I went to a studios for a semester. But I will say the interesting thing to Miami is like there are so many like, yeah obviously as like so many. Cubans buds then like now like I had so many Colombian friends I got a bunch of innocent. He knows you know like the Bolivian Peruvian ahead like death. All I was actually that was like a group even though it was like a mix of like all these countries like we would just call them the Colombians and they would lay sie. Cubans. Lifting and like you know, you'd go you go to the parties and key Biscayne and with the key rats and whatever, and the Colombian excuse me key rats. God He key rats. Yeah. That's the thing Alex Camaros like here at a key rat. Yeah meeting. Their. Let's backup. So in Miami there are you know very sort of wealthy areas that are stuff of legends if you will and key Biscayne is one of them and everybody that lives I mean people live in key Biscayne are well to do you know they all go to Gulliver or or ran some and those are like four times forty, thousand dollars a year prep schools yeah, and Those are the people that we kind of like would meet through sports because how else are you don't really run in the same circles them or maybe third like drama club in my case and and those. People with boats and Shit. Yeah But so yeah. So people like from keeps gainer called key route hockey rats and they just because you also you have to go over to purchase. A whole Tolan everything. You're staying like key largo key, west all. Asking for however no. I'm Mile Marker fifty to rant. Money. was going to say. Beyond like sometimes like I will be hanging out with them.

"And I was like, Oh, shit you're like, Yeah No. I absolutely, and we have the same last name. Got It. Also, he was reading this. Daily newsletter that they send employees and he was like Oh my God. That's my knees. So. Yeah. That's sort of how I found out that it was. What it was the first princess princess and it's been so wonderful and I and I. Voice acting is not something that I ever. Even thought about doing. which fogging it's so annoying when people say that like I just fell into it. So, obnoxious but it's definitely one of those things that because I didn't know what I was getting into because I didn't know the importance in the weight that this was going to have I was very I was confident and I was relaxed. Confident. Because he didn't know the expectations of some exactly. Exactly. So I did my thing and entrusted that the people that hired me. Knew what they were doing and and that was my experience just learning on the job and having people be super super patient with me and really kind and you know I've gone on to do other animation. So I was doing I did share and the prince's of. Finger Net flicks and and but but Elena was my first and the thing with that is it's opened up. You know a whole new side of my career that I never really counted on are expected to be a part of and one of the great things about animation is everybody involved I've yet and I've been in, you know in animation in one way or another for over six years now may have yet to meet an asshole like literally never met. Like. A nasty person at all in any of my experiences. So because it's so hard to get information off the ground. So when you do get it off the ground, it's because you care because it's you've worked your ass off. So everyone I've worked with is just been such a delight. How many people ask you to do like voicemail for their kids? Yeah. A lot of. THEM DO YOU HAVE CAMEO? Do you don't I don't HAVE CAMEO But but but people used to ask me when this first came out there like can you do like a video and then quickly I realized that those kids like the kids that are young enough to enjoy Lena for you know like that are intended audience. They don't WanNa, see my my face. To Them Lena's Elena. So then we started doing the voice memos and I, and those are obviously much easier for me to do to to just do little like. It's Princess Elena calling whatever. I I. Actually, we had a comedian Rob Hubel on his daughter I BABYSAT for him a couple a couple of times because my friend babysits them whatever and like his daughter loves eleven like she likes. Them. Yeah. And it was so funny. Yeah I. Remember we talked about it on the podcast and it was just so cute. Those like. She loves. says. I watched so many episodes during the holidays with her because because she and it's so funny because she would just be like, no that one again none of. Although songs to sticking. Ever, my husband sometimes will be humming like songs that I. Like years ago because they're just like ear worms. That's part of what Disney does so well, is that the really just Kinda Hook it. With the songs. But that's one of my other favorite things about working on this show is that they got the music. So right so like one day, it'd be doing a that the other day I was doing this like super fascinating. GAM like a white guy wrote this like. Music Boom be is. Really really well done and and so we're headed tour towards our series finale on Saturday and And it's just it's just it feels so good to complete something that you can really stand behind to be proud of I. Think everybody on this podcast knows what it's like to sort of like do jobs air like wool Lino hoping. One or you want to take for the paycheck on, but it is so nice when you get to work on something that you really believe in that, you could go to you know go to town with your proud of. Yeah and I remember I think the the first time I watched you was I stumbled upon young and hungry. And literally, it's so funny 'cause like we've talked about this before I it's interesting sometimes when you watch a show and you have the two leads but then lighten the like. Ram Bear. But like you you guys like were the best. For me like it was all not just as it was a diverse group of like regnier but it's one of those things that when you watch the show and it's like Oh, yeah. This show would not be an like what it is. It wouldn't be as good without like you and the sweet and the other like to POC like, yeah you know stars that were on it and it was I don't know I just I. Thought those are really close show because it could have been all white and whatever you know and I think it's really nice. They never really push the Latino Superhero. Yeah. But like I told you had like. Because I'm from Miami. That's when I literally was like wait a minute who and I was like wait. She's she's from Miami. Put. 'cause like sometimes I'm like Oh. No one. Wrong. Girl that has a weird. No but. Like the Miami accent is so specific. pull it out of. It could be in a room of people screaming and if there's one person that's started.

"I. Don't know why I'm waving this. Growth. I had to ensure you with that specific. Royalty. Greenspan Miami. On. Aren't they all that's right. That's. Right. I'm sorry are. On. Lease I honestly. There's some episodes that I think I personally can. Say. Many times and I'm like I get. A phone. That's part of the appeal young. Online. boosy ratchet at the same time. Okay. I'll. Michigan. Hand in hand. Can you use your powers to sort of make the first Disney Miami? Let's say Oh. My God I only I would love to. You know obviously I have no. Pol- at all Disney or the powers-that-be. They don't WanNa take my suggestions but but I think like a perfect. So I'm from Kendall. Yes baby. Yeah. The listeners. For the listeners that don't know trying to find a good reference to like it's not I don't think it's technically a suburb because it's still the city of Miami but it's sort of like has a suburb feel and for the most part it's majority Latino let the Latin x people and They're very prissy. You know. Part of. This and is sort of like if you were from. Like whatever part of Jersey everybody does their nails and and like you know everybody looks really like put together all the time and the kids go to private school made they go to Catholic school So it is a place where a Miami Princess would live. Beyond. And she would have her perfect little town homes in front. Know it next to next to like the movie theater and a target I. Don't maybe they don't maybe even like horse country you know that part. Yeah. Go to school near Horse. She has to have her. country's. Staple Plate like, oh, my gosh almost impossible to describe but horse country is a part of Kendall that is I think traditionally was a lot of farmland and rural rural land, and now it's like a bunch of ranches and early exotic plant nurseries. But then there's also like a random like castle school. Yeah. In the middle of it, that's where I went to School Holy Cross Academy. It's not there anymore now it's something else always up there. Now I remember doing sports on because I went to earn paw. Like we were in the roads and you get all across the the foreign. I remember like we would get in the bus or whatever. We brought his places so far like sweaty. So every time by the got there didn't matter what season it was a Miami late crew sweating well, when people think of Miami to. South beach and who could blame them when people think of La they think of either Hollywood. Or whatever? But Miami is actually really sprawling place and there's little pockets in every pocketed. So different in kind of weird like every pocket has its own sort of weird little. vibe but yeah so. If, there was going to be princess in Miami she would absolutely be from Kendall Valley? Yes. And so we okay. So we usually do okay eka in the first half of our episode and we're super excited to have you on this episode for the full time and I kind of told you like.

Trump called service members "losers" and "suckers"

"One president. Donald Trump cancelled visit to ain modern. That's an American cemetery near Paris in two, thousand, eighteen, he blamed rain for the last minute decision saying the helicopter couldn't fly and that the secret service wouldn't drive him there neither claim was true. Trump rejected the idea the visit because he feared his hair would become too shoveled in the rain and because he did not believe it was important to honor American war dead and that's according to four people with first hand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit. Trump said, why should I go to that cemetery? It's filled with the losers. In a separate conversation, the same trip trump referred to the more than eighteen hundred marines who lost their lives at below would as suckers forgetting killed. Trump on that same trip asked aides who were the good guys in this war. and. He also said that he didn't understand why the United States would intervene on the side of the allies. And when McCain died in August twenty eighteen trump told his senior staff according to three sources with direct knowledge of the event. We're not GONNA support that losers funeral and he became furious according to witnesses when he saw flags lowered to half-staff and said what the fuck are we doing that for guy was a fucking loser. On at least two occasions becoming president according to three sources with knowledge of his views trump referred to former president George h.w Bush is a loser for being shot down by the Japanese as a navy pilot in World War Two Bush escaped capture, but eight other men shot down during the same mission were caught tortured and executed by Japanese soldiers. And trump has been for the duration of his presidency fixated on staging military parades. But only of a certain sort in a two, thousand, Eighteen White House planning meeting for such an event trump asked his staff not to include wounded veterans on the ground that spectators would feel uncomfortable in the presence of amputees quote nobody wants to see that. He said. So that is what has come out in the Atlantic and I simply am out of adjectives

I'm here because of you. and. On. Day In two, thousand, eight, two, thousand, nine. Is. One of the first people I greeted and hugged. On. That stand. Toldo. This is your day to. Good kind and gentle man. And he believed in us. Even when we don't believe in ourselves. And it's fitting that the last time John shared a public form. WAS ON. Zoom. And I'm pretty sure neither he nor I set up the zoom call because we didn't know how to work. As a virtual town hall with A. Gathering of young. Activists. who had been helping to lead this summer's demonstrations in the wake of? George. George Floyd's death. And afterwards I spoke to John Privately. and. He could not have been. Proud. To See this new generation of activists standing up for freedom and equality. A. New Generation that was intent on voting and protecting the right to vote. In some cases of new generation. Running for political office. And I told them all those young people, John? Every race and every religion from every background and gender and sexual orientation. John. Those, are your children. They learned from your example. Even. If they didn't always know. They had understood through him, what American citizenship requires. Even, if they'd only heard about his courage. Through the history books. By the thousands faceless anonymous, relentless, young people black and white have taken our whole nation back to those great wells of democracy which were dug deep by the founding fathers in the formulation of the Constitution and the Declaration of independence. Dr, King said that in the nineteen sixties. And it came true again, this summer. We see it outside our windows and big cities and rural towns. In men and women young and old? Straight Americans and LGBTQ AMERICANS BLACKS WHO. Long for equal treatment and whites who can no longer accept freedom for themselves while witnessing the subjugation of their fellow Americans. We see it in everybody doing the hard work of overcoming. Complacency. Of overcoming our own fears and our own prejudices. Our own hatreds. You see it in in people trying to be better true or versions of ourselves. And that's what John Lewis teaches us. That's where real courage comes from. Not from turning on each other. But by turning towards one.

"Right. It's pretty small. Give on her partner and I'm judges. I'm a little confused too because I thought that was an appeal and it was denied and so I think she wants to give her time to maybe appeal it to a higher authority, give it to a higher court, but she's giving her 'til Monday two to discuss the matter with the appellate court which it's. It's confusing. The whole thing is just the whole thing. Just kind of reeks because it's like, all right. She gets the treatment and I'm not even seeing its preferential, but I'm saying like she gets time to discuss with her people like you know how they wanna go about keeping these documents that that may paint her in a bad light away from the people like it's just. Just I. Don't know if they would afford they afford. You know a black person, this kind of treatment or lat next person or any other kind of minority. I don't know. It's just really. So bizarre, no I in fact, you know that that question came up to bill bar when he was asked about his commutation of Roger Stone in his interference in Flint sentencing recommendation. And his backing up to get. Judge. Flynn's case dismiss, and they're like of all the cases you presided over. Can you tell me one other one? Any other case where the defendant pleaded guilty twice? And you. submitted a document, a briefing asking for the case to be dismissed. One. Just name one. Just one other thing even if it's a white dude, any other white dude nobody? No one. Okay. Crickets. Yeah. I. Mean that was like my favorite line of questioning the whole day because it really put him. You know he's got this weird I. Know we're not really talking about bar, but he's got this weird on. On ability to just kind of I, don't know make everything seem so normal like he. He himself looks like a perfectly logical person and but but then you realize he's doing these horrible things and you're like, oh wait maybe this is what maybe this is. How people like get you know confirmed wink until like falling for schemes because when when I was watching his Senate approval hearing way back when. I don't know I didn't buy it, but I was like Oh. Okay. We'll doesn't seem like this guy is going to be tampered with, and here we are. He's he's the one doing tampering. Yeah and of course, he's got this nonchalant was. So why should I meant like? Why should I literally said that I? Mean, I'm like, Oh, the Q. attitude towards the like his job, and and of course, there was just the way just his demeanor when he was being questioned. By Democrats specifically, women specifically people of Color especially women of color he was just like. A. Hand on the side of his face leanness. Chin. Like Yeah. uh-huh. Whatever like when Escobar was talking to him or John Paul and you're. Just like, why are you such a fucking, Dick? Like I talked to l. e. hone yesterday and he was like if I was his lawyer I'd be like look you can keep saying whatever you want to say. But could you not just look like a? fucking asshole. Literally, give give them like give these. Do the taste of their own medicine. Smile honey. It'll make you look a little more appealing, pat. I used to have to my boss used to have to tell me because in meetings. At work if was saying something dumb, I would have this look on my face like and my boss elbow me like straight face straight face. That is amazing. Yeah, it's it's rough. It's really hard when people are you know? This this sort of like What's the word? Is it brash? Brassy or Sassy, you're in front of like live cameras. He's to be seen by millions of people and you really don't give one single fuck. It's it would be a talent if it wasn't so evil. You're absolutely right. He's, but he is steeped in dripping with Evil One last evil story that just came across my desk. Here? Because I have a desk and stories that come across it because. Older. There's a Ken clipping. Stein got a couple of documents internal documents from the Department of Homeland Security internal. Legal Guidance and he's put this out in the nation, and at this apparently this and I'm looking at the legal is right now it. Tells officers from the Department of Homeland Security, they would not be held liable for teargassing journalists. As long as they weren't directly targeted, now, of course, Bill Bar has denied using tear-gas, right? Right. Isn't it illegal or like against you know the rules? Yeah. Geneva Convention, apparently, it's. Not that they give a shit about that. Yeah. Cool. With him yet says if a journalist or legal observer is incidentally exposed to crowd control devices after remaining in the area, you will not be held liable. incidentally means that the journalist legal observers while not the target of the crowd control devices still ended up being exposed to the crowd control devices because of where they are located, so you should tear gas canister. Is Only. The person that it landed closest to the one that you're liable for hurting like I don't even understand that fucking concept. Especially, wait hold on to get the member. One Bar said yesterday about the arrests of. Anonymous. Officer snatching people off the streets of Portland. said. Well, if you're in proximity to other wrongdoers, then that's probable cause. So it works for him on that. To violate people's fourth amendment rights but this. It's cool. We, need to get a up there asking these questions because you know. Honestly, this is just if you're writing. Okay. So I this is my only point of reference, an actor, what do I know, but if you're writing like the worst hallmark movie of all time right about this and you're like I, know the villains going to do this. He's GonNa put out a memo. That's you know what I mean that says like well, if those so and so just so happens to be caught in the in the tear gas like this was this idea wouldn't even be greenland like. Losing strict. No, I can't even imagine pitching it like a but yeah, but then. then. They do a close up on his face, the guy who issued a memo when you hear done done dumb commodity to. Be Great Yeah. You'd be laughed out of the Pitch Room. You truly would, and it's just it just keeps getting worse and worse than like a and I don't and I don't know, I, mean, at this point, you know we've got earthquakes. We've got murder Hornets, we go. We got. We got a pandemic I. Mean. Is this the end of times like I just need someone to read up on whatever literature we have on the end of times and let us know. Well we got a hold on property up because I, it's it's GonNa, get worse before it gets better always get starkest or the night or yes. Before the done. Did I just say it always gets darkest at the end of the night. I. Always. Listen. The night always gets the darcus before it's over. So just know that. I love that like, agee's news. Yeah. I'm going to hang it up next to like but first coffee in my kitchen. But. We we have an end goal. We only have. What would you say ninety seven days until election day? Ninety, six, ninety, six. "Me today for the good news is dog mom Jordan Coburn Hey. Hello I feel like everyone. Speak so kind and loving about the new edition to. My lonely family. Thank you, everybody love. She. Well? It was kind loving of you to adopt her, so totally deserved. She's so freaking cute, so tired and Tucker it out constantly the yeah, she's just adjusting I bet. You know definitely. They get like what what what and then they're cool, yes. but She's yeah. Glad. She's got a good home. Mostly like what what what? I'm nauseous, but okay now. What. WH WHY. NAP Yeah. Well, we do have a lot of good news. Sent into US today I want to kick it off with a pretty good news story here. this is from news. News the Senate today passed the mammoth defense policy bill that sparked a veto threat from president trump over its inclusion of a plan to rename basis after confederate figures, but the Senate voted eighty six to fourteen on the new National Defense Authorization Act that's away above the two thirds, majority would take to override a potential veto though senators could flip their votes on a potential override. Comes just days after the House passed its version of the annual NDA. The two chambers will now have to reconcile their their bills to craft a final deal with both versions containing plans to rename basis. It will likely be difficult to keep that issue out of the final agreement so. Hurry. So far, veto proof renaming the basis barring Senate Republicans changing their votes to support a veto, but usually generally people don't vote on these kinds of things if they want to make changes to them. Do you know what I mean? They usually like. Try to have an amendment or something like that, so it seems like. Could get those bases rename so that's good news. For everyone is very good news. Thank God. Yeah so let's let's kick it off. Here with the with the good news from listeners. Do you WanNa? You want get the first one there sure. Yeah, totally this one is a bit bittersweet nature, but definitely good news. Overall this one comes for anonymous Pranati her a former Nazi concentration camp guard was just convicted of five, thousand, two hundred and thirty two counts of murder in one of the last Holocaust trials. I didn't know that the trials that any of those trials were still going on at all. Yeah, five, thousand, two, hundred and thirty two counts while yeah. Insane and Yawkey News I'm keeping a good. Listening, I almost went into. I just lifted myself up by my my own caller. They're all I'M GONNA make our dog references now. And our next one is about cats. It's from Korea Pronoun. She her. They said this is about kitties, so it's for a g DORETHEA. Okay, here, we go my eighteen year old cat skinny passed away about two years ago. She was the most skittish cat ever, but a total cuddle ball. If you earned her trust until there was a loud noise, she was a major reason. They dumped the ex-fiancee. She was so right. because. because. She was immediately comfortable with my now. Husband that I even dated him. The hubs and skinny were incredible buddies, and he has not been ready for a new cat. He is every bit as Finicky as skinny was then on Monday our local humane shelter posted a picture of six-year-old pistol. She has the same. It's in the syllabus face that skinny had. There's a picture here, so you can see. And the shelter. said she had stopped eating due to stress. The same we skinny used to do I. could look at that face in no that report tummy would calm down right away if she would just sit with my calm quiet husband for an afternoon, I shared the pick and him, and the excitement of facebook friends who thought she was a perfect match for us was hilarious and plentiful. The shelter was supposed to be closed until Wednesday at one, but I was passed, and we were able to visit her on Tuesday. After the vet had checked her out and agreed, she was just stressed. I couldn't tell if he wasn't interested was trying not to get attached when he met her on Tuesday. But on Wednesday, the hubs who is retired and the author of Brom bones books. Dot! com and usually in bed whenever I leave for work was throwing his clothes on when I got out of the shower and said we don't have any litter. Drive so. He walked several blocks with a with heavy littering. Cat Foods issues. We re so that we would be ready. My car's in the shop this week, so I walked twenty minutes home in one hundred degree heat on my lunch break and was accompanied by the hubs. who hates the heat for another ten minutes to the shelter? This time my husband was much engaged with the cat while I did the paperwork and in that time the cat ate all the treats. She hit ignored all morning. He carried her home. her yelling with great judging us all the way and within three hours. She had started eating from her food bowl though she made sure we knew it was crap. Food and we need to find her. Some non crap food soon, please. Told my gun hating peace Nick Yankee husband that her name was. Gretchen Green is instead of pistol, and we agree into her last name. Is The cat so Gretchen? Green is the cat bossed around and explored the house all evening, demanding that we get in bed at ten, and then slept through the night, and chirped US awake at six fifteen this morning. She's absolutely nothing like skinny. Except for that perpetual scowl, but I'm pretty certain. She's in the right, place hall. There's a fixture. Sees not as a perfect way to describe that face to. Calabasas yes. That's you you fricking eighty eight upright. It's in the syllabus. So cute. Oh my gosh what? full-face. "Gordon, yes, I would love to thank you. First step is firm Sheila she her Sheila, says my good news I live in New Zealand in my American husband's family, who are Mormon are mostly trumpers or try to ignore what is happening. However I've never met. His gay brother is banished from the church, but is loved in quotes by the family. As we have visited a couple times since we got married and he hasn't been around when we have, however since we have friends on facebook since I have started posting more anti forty five stuff in my personal a feed we have started. Yesterday was his birthday and my husband got a reply back to his card, saying how glad he was that we hadn't drunk. The KOOL aid the rest of the family I'm glad that when we get to go over again. I will have an ally at family. Gatherings. Mind You I? Don't know if they'll let him bring his husband along. Yeah, that's. I got a lot of Mormon friends that have our X.. Men Friends that have similar stories as as your your brother in lots. It's sad for sure, but but that's that's beautiful that y'all connected. I can't even imagine like our family is has a million people in it, but only one of them is a trumper like a like a a vocal one. You know if there's anybody else to keep it secret because they know better. So. That's got to be just and I know that we I've seen tons of stories in our in our close social media groups from patrons who have to deal with. Trump supporting family members. It's it's really hard. It's like it's I can't imagine how tough that is to to have to cope with family members. that. are like that, but. Anyway thanks for that good news story I'm glad you've got an ally that you can like just sorta. Cling to during those gatherings then. That'll be helpful when we get back together again. Definitely. All right next from anonymous. She her high leg. You Manati, I love it. That's. The beans luminosity Legume Adi. My good news is that I finally got back to writing my newspaper after a year long drought and my guest opinion was in yesterday's paper. Writing to my newspaper, excuse me a lot of media. Outlets were giving credit to my gop Congressman Ryan Fitzpatrick for his police reform vote Y'all talked about fits a few weeks back. He's the dude who pretends to be moderate, but who brings hardcore GOP folks like Karl, Rove and House minority. Leader Steve McCarthy to town to fundraise for him in my letter I gave the context that was missing from so many articles about Fitzpatrick's police reform vote and showed how within the span of thirty nine minutes he managed to vote to both allow and Banjo colds. And the same for no knock raids and qualified immunity. The the key here is that while a lot of us are active on social media. We can't forget to take things. Take things into traditional media where we can in my region southeastern Pennsylvania a seventy year old is four times more likely to vote than a twenty year old, and not all that many seventy year. Olds are on twitter, so we need to get our message in front of them. Get writing those letters to your paper. It's really rewarding. Thank you those beautiful in very needed. Yeah, what a good point! Point too about how different generations consume news? You know we we do have to remember that. Yeah, definitely I. do find it really awesome. Though to see twitter is increasingly at least the people that are following US stuff. It's increasingly being taken up by a more diverse age group. There's people from all kinds of generations at are on their engagement, but overall for sure there so much work that needs to be done to reach out to all different kinds of voter groups throughout all the platforms, and typically twitter is geared towards younger people for sure in like that. Yet. Thank you so much anonymous next up for. Oh note. Yes, that was an honest next up another anonymous one PRONUNCIA here. I have a female engineer and have worked at a manufacturing environment for fifteen years until leaving a year ago the last two years. We're extremely toxic to the point. You to learn more about how to support people of Color in the workplace, it is so refreshing to see this reaction at a global multibillion dollar company. I told my husband I think. I had to experience that toxic environment to truly appreciate how great is to work at a place that can admit it isn't perfect and strive to improve the life of its employees every day. That's wonderful. I love hearing big companies doing that stuff. Big companies are is the biggest reach typically so. They have a think I that means that have even more responsibility to do the racing, so that's that's wonderful to hear. Thank you so much sending and that's got to be a huge like like a burden. Feeling lifted off your shoulders to to not have to fight for your legitimacy on a daily basis like she was saying. it it. It really has to. Really that that kind of Battle. Those kind of daily battles really do a number on your mental health and your wellbeing and you know your ability to. To you know, be kind to yourself I mean it just it reaches so many different aspects of your life and so. To, have to have now being a place where you aren't, maybe you're fighting for your legitimacy, but not on a daily basis, and not to the levels that you had to before so that's great. definitely next up from Mary. "I don't know the answer to that. I mean normally. This is not something that would get fast tracked. And I guess the question would be. What arguments the New York district attorney. Sivan's would make about why this needed to be expedited. Yeah, I think he. I think he had that argument, but that argument is moot now. which was that? There's a difference in in. Statute of limitations between a misdemeanor and felony and I know he was up against the felony statute of limitations a couple of months ago. So that's already told, or whatever the word is for that. That's already passed and so that I don't think I. Don't know that that would necessarily be an argument, but mean you know we'll see but you know I just I i. sort of want to make sure my listeners understand that had we won cleanly all of these cases those those documents would have to the grand jury, which is totally secret. in the Manhattan District District Attorney's office at Grand Jury there, and then the congressional ones they. They weren't just going to give them to the public. That would have been a process. There would have been probably closed door hearings. You probably wouldn't have heard anything for a while. Anyway. That's just speculation on my part, but I think the good news here is that the Supreme Court roundly rejected the categorical immunity the blanket. Blanket immunity. That trump was claiming that he has the United States because I was personally concerned that if they didn't or that, they've they've found in favor of trump that that we would lose congressional subpoena power for Future President so at least we have that and I think the other important thing to note about this decision. These both of these decisions is that they were seventy two decisions. You know a lot of these. high-profile hotly contested decisions that we see out of the Supreme Court You know issues like Dhaka or abortion are these five to four. You've got the Conservatives on one side the liberal on the other. The chief justice now in the middle providing this decided, but both of these were seventy two rulings with only justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissenting. Thomas Lido as close as a anata consensus. You know a fairly strong majority. Yeah, which is weird because Thomas found the other in the other direction in Clinton V. Jones, but that's a discussion for a whole other time. I think but thank you very much coming on and explaining these findings to us these rulings these opinions as a last session. That is the last day of the session. We're done now with the Supreme Court until October twenty twenty seven right as far as we know. They will, they will be almost certainly over the summer. particularly with COVID. A lot of emergency requests involving the election. Right now there is a an emergency request involving the Florida Law that requires people who've been convicted of felony to pay court costs and fees before they can vote. So things like that are going to pop up, but the supreme. Court is not scheduled to hear or events or issue opinions on the merits again until the fall. For which we are grateful? And also a new domestic who ran Senator Cory Booker's twenty twenty presidential campaign. So that's all astounding, because I think his voice could yes really really make a difference. It makes such a difference because even even our polit, the ARP, our politicians, even liberal politician, whatever even Barack Obama of President Obama's like. Get out and vote. Get out and vote, but we. We have yet to receive tools with which to combat voter suppression, and that's a big problem, and that's something that I see a lot of especially black activists talking about on twitter that they're great. Yes, we absolutely have to vote, but what are we doing? And what are you doing to help us? Make that happen and so. I'm so glad that that. The super, super powerful, super influential group of people has gotten together because. Not only are they going to get people who may be feel too daunted by the process of registering or voting or feel like it doesn't make a difference, so that's really inspiring, but also the fact that they have dedicated. A specific mission to calling out voter suppression while it's happening before it's happening And hopefully you know. Setting our sights towards the future to prevent it young, you have to wonder how much of this is in response to the absolute shit show in Georgia with voter suppression although I did just see. tweet come out from Stacey Abrams. Let me see if I can pull this up because I thought that it was. Important to share. Do. Do the turnout the UNMITIGATED DISASTER IN GEORGIA? This week is rightfully drawn a lot of attention, also deserving attention, the number of Georgians who came there obstacles. In two thousand sixteen the primary. Democratic was seven, hundred, sixty, one thousand this time, the primary, dumb turnout, nine, hundred and forty, eight, thousand, and still climbing our rae baby. That's amazing. That's truly it's. It's unfair. It shouldn't people shouldn't have to. You know overcome obstacles when it comes to constitutionally protected right. But you know the fact that like there are so many people being vocal about it, and I saw that Jose Andre Undress. I, I don't know how he's going to work this out, but he tweeted out like I'm going to provide like restrooms and water and food in places with really long wait lines on election day, and this is the kind of thing we need. Because this is how they succeed suppressing the vote it, they do it. They do it by shutting down voter locations or voting locations in pre predominantly black neighborhoods and neighborhoods with people of color in them, and this is how they suppressed the vote so I'm so glad that there is a attention coming to that now. And allies need educate themselves because you know. I wait in line ten seconds to vote. I've never had an issue, and so it's it's just not something that's on your mind you know, and then it's being. It's being amplified now it's the it's I. Think it's it's sinking in, and it really needs to just have so much. More attention brought to, and I think these huge huge voices with massive social media outreach across party lines, okay, Lebron Transcends Party share, does he yeah, yeah? Important and I'm so. I'm so grateful that he's doing this. He's the son of Akron where I'm from I hail from there myself and he's done a lot for that community and I'm looking forward to see what he can do for the country me too nice to have a little bit of good news. Right that is. Abe Lock any final thoughts before before. Let you go. Oh, you know one thing you've been thinking about a lot is how we can keep the movement going. You know black lives, matter, and how when we care for black lives, we are actually also caring for other intersectional issues, and so I'm really hoping we can keep this going and I really really hope that it's a turning point, and for any Latin x listeners out there. I know there's a ton of color ISM in our community. There's a ton of anti blackness. It is also up to us to combat that, so thank you for giving me the chance to say that. One hundred percent and I'm looking forward to having you on again soon, so thank you for joining me. They do are. Working People find you before I. Let you go before I. Let you off the hook. O. "Time medium time Just calling to let you know that I'm watching live with Kellyanne Ryan and were pretty pounded on to explain how to make oatmeal more interesting She's people how to make oatmeal during this quarantine. That's all I have to say. Say Clean Country. There are so many cool interesting. Technologically revolutionary things happening right now on TV like the lengths that they're going through to keep these TV shows going is astounding sometimes really impressive. It's like you know it's again. It's life away on the other hand. There are some terrible things going on TV. It's like stuff ends up is ending up on. Tv that would never in a million years air on TV and we're talking about TV doesn't have like these high standards. I'm just saying like the things they are switched killing Orion to fill air is astounding and recently Laura. Prep on our favorite prep lower. Prep on WHO's prepped. She's prepped. She's out of the BUZZER. She's at home she reappeared. She had a kid she reappeared. I think she has a book coming. Out To promote the book. I don't know she went on live in Kelly. And meanwhile Kellyanne Reiner not together. Kelly's somewhere Ryan somewhere Laura's somewhere and she show them how to spice up oatmeal literally and her clip hurt the quality of her. So bathak like shocking. Please just play so to set the scene. We've got you know because it's the age of it's the age of quarantine. Tv So everyone's calling in everyone's dialing in from their own homes. So we've got Kelly on the left in her Dan guest bedroom. Not The kitchen Ryan is in the kitchen doing the work. He's like kind of following Laura's lead and making OATMEAL WITH HIS AIR PODS. And by the way he's talking on his Air Pods. Loris in her actual kitchen not her bunker because there's like a beautiful marble island some natural wonder. This is my like pod. I wonder if there's a they sent him a really nice Mike but the air pods are because he's on the phone. Yeah you probably have to hear it. Yeah I definitely have good. Mike's the two of them but Laura's using I don't know it sounds like she had what was once a good Mike but then it was dumped in the mystic river and then let dry and then she started using it again because it's crackly and it was fished out if you listen closely to what she's saying. You hear you hear. Sean Penn Go. They're my daughter and like listen carefully to what you're saying in all of this. Yes I'm really trying to look at ways to spice things that you naturally will just have in your pantry so one thing that I love to do is a lot of people have ot all and I personally love steel. Cut OATS They're less process so that the digestion process is slower keeps you fuller for longer and it has more nutrients. So that's I always go with steel. Cut Oats.

Why not get help? Better help dot com slash today in true crime now back to the story just hours after the assassination of Spanish prime minister. Louis Caro- Oh Blanco on December twentieth. Nineteen seventy-three the terrorist group L.. Scotty Tosca Toss Oona or ETA claimed credit for the attack. A member of the group said career. Oh Blanco symbolized better than anyone else. The figure of Pure Franko ISM. Nobody managed as he did to maintain the internal equilibrium of the franco-ist state since nineteen thirty. Nine Francisco iskoe Franco ruled as dictator of Spain's single-party totalitarian government that is until June of nineteen seventy-three when sickly eighty-one year old cloudy. Oh handed the reins over to his right hand man sixty nine year old Caro- Blanco Franco was still technically head of state. Even though Carrero had unofficially been running the government for years already but the distinction didn't really matter better Carrero sole objective was to uphold the regime. He'd helped Franco create. When the old man inevitably past career would succeed him and the state would continue on as if nothing had changed? This made Carrero prime enemy for political dissidents from from reform minded liberals to Basque separatists like the ETA ETA translated to homeland and Liberty. The group was founded in nineteen fifty nine with the goal of securing independence for the Basque Country Region in Spain and France. Even even though the Spanish Basque region had been mostly controlled by Spain since the eighteen hundreds the people preserve their own culture language and ethnic the identity during Franco's rule a group of Basque students founded the militant. ETA to fight fight for their regions self governance in nineteen sixty eight. They assassinated the chief of secret police in San Sebastian. In December December of nineteen seventy. They kidnapped the German consul. And in December of nineteen seventy-three. They set their sights on the Prime Minister Luis Carrero the plan was audacious to say the least. ETA members rented a basement apartment in Madrid. Along the route Carrero took daily mass. They told the landlord. They were sculptors to explain the massive racket they made while digging a tunnel all through the ground under the street the one hundred eighty pounds of stolen explosives. They packed into the tunnel may have been overkill but if they wanted to truly destabilize the Franko estate they had to incite absolute chaos. The idea was that after the showstopper explosion the Franco regime would crack down on opposition and become even harsher and more repressive than they'd been before before then in turn the everyday Basque people would see how evil the Spanish government really was and join in the fight for independence Candi- only then would they have the strength to rise up and overthrow the franco-ist state Strangely ETA got what they wanted but not in the way they'd planned instead of cracking down. Franco just rolled over and gave up. After Kara's death. The eighty one year old dictator was quoted as saying they have cut the last thread. That tied me too this world with Guerrero out of the picture. There was no clear successor to maintain Franco's policies for decades. Spain had stood in place while the world around them progressed and democratized by the Seventies. Everyone could see that. The state was on the brink brink of collapse without some kind of reform. There was no future when Franco died on November twentieth. Nineteen seventy seventy five Prince Juan Carlos soon to become King Juan Carlos the first stepped in to fill the power vacuum. He immediately the at least set to work reforming authoritarian government and transitioning Spain into a democracy on June fifteenth nineteen seventy seven. Spain held its first free and democratic election in forty one years the next year the newly elected legislature drafted a new constitution. The Franco days were officially behind them. As for not a they didn't get along with the new democratic government any more than they did with Franco although the Basque country was granted status as an autonomous autonomous community with the nineteen seventy eight constitution. Many Basque nationalist still felt they shouldn't be held to Spain's Constitution at at all in the four decades after Herreros assassination. ETA killed over eight hundred people in two thousand ten. They finally declared a ceasefire promising to use democratic methods to achieve their political goals and in the years since the organization organization has fully disbanded despite the decades of havoc. They reeked on Spain. ETA will always be remembered remembered for their one accidental achievement with one hundred eighty pounds of explosives. They ushered in a peaceful transition transition to democracy..
