Many places are observing Juneteenth for the first time

"The nationwide protests sparked by the George Floyd killing have undoubtedly raise the profile of the black lives matter movement and given the timing has also drawn more attention to Juneteenth the most popular commemoration of emancipation from slavery in America but Greg Carr chair of Afro American studies at Howard University says that momentum comes with some trepidation in some ways we've been socialized to think of things almost episodically so when Jewish Floyd lost his life was like the beginning of a new episode in contemporary American history but he didn't mean the calls of the previous episode we're in the middle of a pandemic and because of coronavirus concerns Steve Williams and the national Juneteenth observance foundation has helped communities around the country set up virtual celebrations all while still working locally to make Juneteenth a federal holiday we need to let Congress know that it's about time we take at least one day I'm interested issue into slavery in America and what we need to go for Juneteenth is observed by DC and forty seven states including Maryland and Virginia and recently several billion dollar entities have made it a company holiday but to truly understand the spirit of Juneteenth Georgetown University assistant professor of African American studies Marcus board junior says it requires a commitment to learning from multiple sources no one black person contains that multitude and so it's important to actually be in community with people and that is not something that you can do on a surface level it's something that you have to invest in something that you have to be sincere about board added that community enjoy your at the center of Juneteenth which could mean it will soon be celebrated by all Americans in the same way as July

'Power' to 'plunge a needle into your arm': Dershowitz says forced vaccinations are constitutional

"Of audio did you happen to hear and forgive me if I missed it Alan Dershowitz saying that the government has the right to plunge a needle into your arm when he was talking about vaccines did you hear about that I always scrolling social media early today I saw something I didn't have time to check in go back good what are the details what it what did he say this because he's a very kind of you know he he he says it how he sees it he analyzes so give us give us is the sky believe me I I admit I was on the Dershowitz jet train I thought he did a great job talking about the impeachment but he was absolutely right I think he's very smart and I respect him but he's a little bit cavalier with this statement saying that the government has the right to literal and I'm quoting here plunging needle into your arm now I think vaccines if we're talking about vaccines for crown of ours it's great to have that as an option if people want to do the vaccine that's fantastic right but it starts to creep me out when you have Alan Dershowitz saying it's constitutional for the states to come after you and just stab you in the arm in the I guess for public safety

'Fat Guys at the Movies' Kevin Carr on reopening of theatres amid pandemic

"We are joined by our guys at the movies guy Kevin Kerr and Kevin I know theaters are opening here in Pinellas county they're gonna open up again right now the much to the chagrin of some but the movies themselves aren't being made anymore now than it's going to be a while probably for Hollywood cranks it up again and well yeah I think people are waiting and seeing what's going to happen because the movie that's that's next on the slate the next one that that had a release date that did not get moved his talent which is David of seasoning which is Christopher Nolan's latest film he of course did inception and the dark knight movies in interstellar and Dunkirk and this is going to be a big movie part of it is it's a seventy millimeter film the once showed him thirty five millimeter and seventy millimeter to my Max but it's also two hundred million dollars so you need to have as many theaters open and you got to have them being able to play and you also have to have a sort of that consumer confidence of people going out to do it you can't deal with the suppressed audience now they just dropped attendance trailer yesterday last night and it is it does not have a release date all the trailer but according to the website it's still coming out on July seventeenth so we'll see before there's new content that that's coming out I think this is one of those you know what came first chicken or the egg the reader is going to open up a nationwide or are they gonna start releasing movies first and and that's something but I think it's a wait and see I think there's there's still some time left for this to be pondered could you see because the state of Georgia is opening up and we know that there's a lot of film incentives out there could you see Hollywood packing up and maybe going out east to Georgia to get some of this film work done for future movies well here's the problem with actually ramping up the production as well is it the there's there's the insurance issue that that every large production had carries of some sort of production insurance it says that they're going to be able to continue to produce and make this movie and that there's not something that's going to happen to it like a great example is in the fast and furious movie there this is one of the best movies there in the middle of making and Paul Walker died and then change the schedule and change the budget and changed everything they had insurance that covered that it's gonna be very hard to start up production on anything with any sort of coronavirus insurance so like the big productions are still out you know I E. independent doesn't matter where they where they go even Tyler Perry's talk about opening up but you're going to have to have distancing there as well either talking about producing smaller movies like a Blumhouse is going to be doing something Michael bay has one that he wants to start producing very soon but those are going to be smaller low budget the productions are not gonna be the two hundred million dollar blockbusters well they're going to be interesting to see how it all plays out and I guess going to be big for Netflix and Hulu and all of those like that

"She was blonde a midriff. Top and white deasy Dukes. Roberts slammed on his brakes when he got to her. Almost causing a pile up on the interstate. Her name is Jenny and she was very intoxicated. She needed to go to Fort Lauderdale and thought Robert was a cab driver. He took her Tameemi trail and tried to force her to perform oral sex on him. She bit his penis and tried to dive out of the car but he caught her by her pants and ended up tumbling to the ground with him. She started screaming and he started trying to shut her up finally strangling her until she went limp losing consciousness. He threw her bank in the car and sodomized her later as he was raping her again. A police officer pulled up behind his car and flipped on the Siren. When Jenny realized it was a cop she started screaming that she was being raped. Rob Tried to play it off by saying she was married and needed a story to tell her husband his good nature. Act did not work this time. Jenny had sobered up the first officer on the scene. Just had a hunch something wasn't right with Robert Carr and so other officers were called to respond. Robert was arrested and taken to Dade County jail where he was questioned by homicide detectives. Charles d'etre Pilic and David Simons. They were convinced that he was involved in the murder of a young sex worker who had been found just a mile and a half away from where Robert had taken Jenny. Angela man a twenty five year old intellectually and developmentally disabled sex worker. Had Come to Miami from Indiana just five months before she had been found just two weeks before Robert was arrested for raping Jenny. Robert denied any involvement with Angela and also any involvement with several other rapes investigators brought up however his conscience got the best of him and he started talking about the rates he had recently committed. Initially he did not mention. Tammy MARK OR TODD. But after he had been put in his cell his conscience wait on him again and for. Tammy he realized he had to confess. He wrote T R. Huntley on a piece of paper and gave it to the jailer saying he needed to talk to the detectives again. They did not want to talk to him and said they would see him at his arraignment. He was antsy and couldn't let his self-preservation outweighs conscience so while in court. He made something of a scene saying loudly to a guard. I WanNa Talk to you Mr. He was told to be quiet initially then Robert just got louder so the guard sat down behind him and asked him what he wanted. Robert pointed at David Simmons and said he needed to talk to him. The detective asked if it was important to which Robert replied is murder important. David took him out of the courtroom and walked Robert to a holding cell. The two other detectives showed up later in the day and walked Robert to the sheriff's department across the street. Once they are Robert wrote down the names of his former victims including their last names. Except Todd's because he forgot it after hours of speaking Robert Promise to take them to the bodies which were in Mississippi and Louisiana. The detectives arranged it and in a few short days. Detectives brought Robert New clothes and they got a flight to New Orleans once there. The detectives rented a car and Robert. Convinced them to go visit the area where Tammy was buried. He showed him or her personal belongings. Were and then. They went back to New Orleans. Were they checked Robert into the parish jail for night the next morning the two detectives picked him up and a small convoy went to Mississippi to exhume. Tammy from her grave. Several local law enforcement officials were in attendance including Hancock County. Sheriff Sylvan J. Ladner junior another official. There was Dr Ronald K right chief. Deputy Medical Examiner for Dade County Florida doctor right leader commended Robert for his memory because he let them ranked Tammy's grave and personal belongings. Robert had a little more difficulty finding marks because it had been for years and vegetation had changed and grown doctor right also disputed. Sheriff ladders claims that Tammy had been buried alive because she had struggled with her ropes. Dr Right said the rope marks on her back again pre mortem and that she had definitely been dead. When placed in the grave after the uncovered the two young victims and Mississippi Robert led them to Todd's grave and Louisiana and then the next week. The detectives took Robert to Connecticut to show where he had buried Rhonda through all this. Robert have contacted an attorney but he did not listen to his attorney's advice and continue talking to the detectives. Part of his reward for talking was unfettered phone contact with his wife and Connecticut. Robert was also vocal during this time period saying that the blame for the former should fall solely on the Connecticut State Prison System Shoulders. Robert said that he had tried to seek help while in the Connecticut prison but they released him anyway with all four bodies located Robert Carr was mentally absolved of some of his guilt but reportedly told reporters that he couldn't say he would not kill in the future he had also allegedly said something similar to officials in Connecticut in Nineteen seventy-two. He told them if you were paroled without getting psychiatric help that he would quote. Go out and kill someone officers who work. These investigations were shocked by the level of Control Robert over victims in the three floor murders. There had been many opportunities for his victims to run but they did not Robert Carr was indicted by a grand jury on June twenty third nineteen seventy six. The indictment stated the murder of todd. Peyton occurred between November nineteenth and November twenty second nineteen seventy-two Mark Wilson's murder was listed as occurring between November twenty second and Twenty Eighth Nineteen. Seventy two the Florida grand jury indictment did not include Rhonda Holloway's murder and Robert Car could not be charged with this murder. Do the three outstanding murder charges and Florida. Robert pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of the three Miami Youth. He also pleaded guilty to the rape of Johnny later. In September nineteen seventy six tried to change his plea to not guilty for the murders but the judge would not allow him to withdraw his plea. Robert Claim that detectives had misled him regarding his charges and the death penalty. The judge ruled that Robert knew what the penalty for first degree? Murder was Robert. Kerr had a speedy trial. He had been arrested on. May thirty first. Nineteen seventy six and his trial commenced in September nineteen seventy six. He had requested a jury trial and this was granted an August Robert Carr testified in his trial and admitted to jurors that he had rape six people after he murdered. Tammy on September seventeenth. Nineteen seventy six judge. Natalie Baskin no relation to Carol Baskin Sentence Robert Card to three life terms plus three hundred and sixty years Robert. Kerr spoke to reporters in the chapel of the county jail following his sentencing his first words to the families. I'm sorry that my insanity killed their children. He said he was grateful for the sentence he had been given. Although he had requested the death penalty he told judge. Baskin your honor. This is my final request for treatment. However Judge Baskin said at sentencing that of the death penalty would relief society of dealing with car but this country has fought wars to prevent extermination of the week. She continued by saying that the death penalty does not serve as a deterrent for those that suffer from mental illness. Car also sent a letter to his living victims in Connecticut and August nineteen seventy six urging them not to let the public forget about his crimes. Robert cars conviction and sentencing was of little comfort to the families of his victims. Those young lives were tossed away and the families had worried and wondered for months and even years before they received any news adding to that was the callous response of the police. Who insisted mark and todd were merely runaways? And who had once told Tammy Huntley's mother they would have notified her. If an unidentified body had been Tammy's Tammy's mother felt like she was bothering the police and they did not want to hear from her she. In Todd's mother teamed up to ensure Robert Card never walked the streets hunting for prey again a few months into his sentencing. Robert Car was sent to a psychiatric hospital for the treatment he had requested for so long. He was there for about a year during which time he did not respond well to the treatment while at the hospital he was found with tools in his possession and a small stockpile of food. He was sent back to the prison shortly. Thereafter Robert Wanted to team up with Edna Buchanan. Who had written many of the articles about his crimes and arrest. He explained. He wanted to write a book about his crimes to help law enforcement find predators such as him. Robert was given a great deal of freedom. To speak with Edna who was eventually recognized as a regular around the prison. The two ended up with hundreds of interview tapes. The book has apparently been used as a training tool for law enforcement in the past a letter to the editor of the Miami Herald on December thirtieth nineteen. Seventy seven exemplifies feelings about Robert Car that many residents of Florida had Lorraine Kellogg.

Obviously we just trying to bring in the best group of guys. We can have an quarterback role to kind of bring out the best out of everybody. We'll go from there. I appreciate your love for DC. Clean Cleland thank you for being on the show but I must ask you this question. I understand that you level. My question is do you believe in. Him. I know he can play. He's not a scrub completed. Seventy percent of his passes last year. I got respect for the brother. But do you believe that? He is the franchise quarterback for the future that God move forward with for years to come. I definitely feel. Idc has that. No no I mean we wanna give them all that money for no reason. I mean you definitely got to look at how things went last year. You know obviously the situation when it's only ordering work out the way that we want and Obviously we had a very young receiving core and that can be tough on a quarterback and receiver. So it kind of goes hand in hand but I feel like we we we. We will head in the right direction with with whoever goes out there. So I'm excited for DC hand. You Know Marcus to anybody who might get breath. Will they traded Khalil? Mack for draft picks. One of them turned into you and people were surprised we were projected as a first round. Pick but how high up you went and then you had your rookie season. Really good against the run. Not a lot of sacks usually defensive ends especially when they do the kind of grunt work or good or stout against the run are tend to be a little rated them when they put up the flashy sack numbers. What was your evaluation of your rookie season? I feel like I had a good rookie year. You know I put up. Some numbers probably every category. I would just say Just what the the way that you know? My team was asking me to play. You know I don't know if you've watched or not but actually inside and outside and I was a little bit of a different mix for me because I see that as my potential and luckily I feel like we have a very young group as a defense ally still learning to play together. But I feel like you know. Obviously I'M A lot. It's like the state you know what I mean you don't you can't you. Can't cook a whale good filet Mignon and two hours? I say time but when his red is going to be ready so I'm is actually she know what I'm talking about so you know I feel like you're going to be true especially because I really I mean I've been putting that work in for sure I take on. Espn RADIO AND ESPN news. I don't know if I can remember a quarterback that's more sort of vilified by a fan base and I don't know that I understand why I get tweeted. All the time about raiders takes particularly about Derek Carr because many of the fans have decided the Derek Carr simply isn't good enough. I would challenge that concept. Look I'm not saying that. Derek Carr is the next Aaron Rodgers and unfortunately in his MVP year for so many people that became the comparisons MVP caliber. I should say that became the comparison. It suddenly became. Derek Carr is going to be Aaron Rodgers. Good the fact is most teams. Don't ever have Aaron Rodgers. Could it just doesn't exist to that level so now. So what now what? Who Do you actually have quarterback Derek Carr last year with receivers that? Nobody's ever heard of completed seventy percent of his passes for four thousand fifty four yards twenty one touchdowns in a quarterback rating of one hundred point. Eight now I know stats. Don't say everything but those stats. His completion percentage was better in a head to head comparison. The Russell Wilson to Shawn Watson or Dak Prescott. His yards per attempt was on par with all three of them. In fact interceptions the second lowest of the group his quarterback rating the second highest of the group. You can look at him. Statistically and see that he's a quarterback that continues to perform at a high level and that's what's maddening is. He's spectacular no. Is he good enough? Yes and should that be good enough as much as that's the shocking answer for many people? I believe it is. We've we decided the Derek Carr is the villain because he doesn't take a lot of risks because he doesn't take a lot of chances and I understand that but I would challenge everybody that is standing up today saying there cannot be the future quarterback for the Las Vegas Writers. I would challenge every raiders fan to say that to at least go back in your lifetime like I have and remember the quarterbacks that you actually grew up rooting. For if you're forty three years old like I am that list. Forty-two almost forty three. That list is comprised of more names like Todd Marina Vich than it is names like rich. Gannon Derek. Carr doesn't get the credit he deserves. I'm not saying he's Aaron Rodgers but I don't think he gets the credit he deserves now. We're GONNA continue as we do with the. Qb continued every day. To get an expert on straight talk wireless. We're going to get some of that everything for only at Walmart we're joined now by ESPN radio reporter. Paul Gutierrez Paul. I was just waxing my thoughts on Derek Carr so give me your mindset on Derek Carr the quarterback lacking poetic Jason and as always. Hey you know you went old school on me and I know I'm a few years over the news so you're going back to Miranda Vich I'M GONNA go back and I'm hoping you're wearing Zubizarreta pants right now. You know because if we're GONNA talk old school I mean. I grew up with Plunkett. Mark Wilson and Wilson was the villain and Plunkett could do no wrong. Lunka was the guy winning super bowls and and it was ugly and it was dirty but he was winning. And that's the one thing that that with. Derek Carr I believe in Raider Fans Today. Is They think back to twenty sixteen and and how much he was kind of a gunslinger there how he was extending plays how he was playing at a league. Mvp level really until the broken ankle in the next to last game of the season and he hasn't really been that same guy ever since and yet you look at the numbers career highs in passing yards last year career. Best completion percentage over seventy percent. He is the raiders franchise all time leading passing leader in terms of passing yards. And yet. There's still something missing for for a lot of raider fans and and car fans we'll tell you well. He's missing a wide receiver number one. The Antonio Brown experiment blew up in their face last year. And they're still trying to recover and car detractors will tell you he's just not the same guy since breaking his ankle and my expert opinion and all this. They're both right. And that makes a Lotta sense while I would agree that he's become more hesitant since the injury but I would also agree. I mean you look back to some of the games last year and it would be like a trivia contest trying to figure out who was throwing the football to the receiver position was decimated so look at this team moving forward now if the argument has been. He doesn't have the weapons. And we're going to continue the quarterback series with Derek Carr. How does he continue this year? How how do they do? They have better weapons forum in your mind. Well not unless they draft or get wide receiver one. Because that's the biggest glaring hole out there. I mean like I said the Antonio Brown thing just blew up in their face and they were still trying to recover from it down the stretch of the season last year because that offense was really kinda built in geared towards Antonio Brown so unless they draft somebody or find somebody on the free agency scrapped. You can fit that role then. There's going to be that built an excuse. And yet you see what Darren Waller did explosive as a playmaking tight. It Josh Jacobs. Who if he doesn't Miss? Three the last four games the runaway winner of offensive rookie of the year that offensive line which is beat up all year. It's still kept him fairly clean. So there's not a lot of and I hate to use this word excuses for him but there's always that built in one about he doesn't have that play making receiver and yet if you look at certain plays in certain games on certain. Faiths these guys whether it's Zeh Jones or tyrel with with both aching feet guys were getting open. But they're also a lot of drops and that affects them his confidence not only himself but his confidence in his receivers to go ahead and say. Hey you know what I'm GonNa let you make a play. He had confidence in crabtree competence and Cooper until he didn't any longer. And you saw what happened after that we're talking to ESPN raiders reporter. Paul Gutierrez I. Take your take on. Espn radio I'm Jason Fitz. Give me your thoughts on the draft for the raiders particularly because there has been some speculation that they're interested in Jalen hurts or a quarterback that they can attain in the third round. That sort of level do you project that they will be looking at quarterback position in this year's draft depends on who you talk to and we talked to Mike mayock yesterday and he's obviously never gonNA show is true hand to us that he has his board. He's GonNa go that way because on one. Hand the raiders. Do have five six in the top ninety one. And that's great on the other. They don't have anything from twenty to seventy nine and that's may sweet spot so I can see them trying to trade back from nineteen and get back into the second round because they don't have a second round pick He likes her third. Rounders may say you know having three third round fixes almost like stealing And if they're doing their job right. That's three starters they confide. So when it comes to the quarterback position he could not praise Derek Carr enough. And here's the simple fact here. Is that this shutdown Every workout being virtual all that does is working..

"Well first of all it so fun to me you. We know lena dunham and she said i really want you to interview my friend erin. She's wonderful your phone and i said then let's do it and then i knew that you did at the heart of gold which i watched and then i started reading. It was like oh my goodness. I know i know all about you because i read the night of the gun because your father david carr was friends with tom arnold back in minnesota or wisconsin or something and so thomas friends with him recommended. I read that book. I think it's my favorite drug memoirs. Is that the john roots called. That's one of them. Yeah yeah recovery genre but like you know what the really bad stuff that happened. How do we account. I sort of book yes in. Do you like those books in general absolutely yeah. Do you have favorites. I love caroline naps drinking a love story. Ooh i've never read it is just this incredibly really weird. Devastating story of female journalists who was duly ambitious and addicted and like found herself between two relationships like a lot of infidelity ability and then like you know the toxicity of alcohol while being really ambitious as journalist and she's no longer with us. She died very early on in her life but the book from the a disease or other things. This merely like very early cancer okay. Michelle wrote a book about loving dogs. The dogs are or this incredible primary relationship. It taught her how to love you. Guys are both ignored jones dream boat. We all wanna look look like oh. It's absurd could be kind like damn it. It just sets the bar. Let me tell you those photos do not actually what do justice to what her presence is. Have you met her now. I was like oh. I think i'm head over heels in love with this person just just looking at her aura yeah. It was very recap vinnie but anyways when i when i read that book i was pretty shocked with. hearing a meeting and things like that but there's there's a certain safety in that. We've all done really despicable. Things were ashamed of so for your father. Do have put that stuff stuff out into public and particularly the stuff concerning you and your sister was a i mean i just remember thinking god. Do i have that level of bravery every could i own my mistakes to that degree. What's your answer. I feel like i'm inching towards it on here but boy that's <hes> i don't know because i have have two daughters ally define a lot of my self esteem in my identity based on how good of a dad i am or i'm not on any given day so yeah. That'd be a real hard one to cop to because in a nutshell for people haven't read it. Your dad was a cocaine addict. Yeah a crack cocaine. He and your mother and you guys arrived you and your sister turn your twin sister and they were very active addicts. The thing i remember the most was isn't there a story in their them going to a crack house. Remains just your dad in in leaving you guys in the car in the middle of winter so it's yeah it's the baby in the snow suits. He basically my mom was away and he we needed to get high and he said he wasn't the sort of dad that would leave us at home alone so he thought the best thing was to bring us with him in the car. It's there's incredible incredible moth where he recounts this night to like storytelling audio podcast and he goes into the crack house. He's supposed to be there for five minutes. It it ends up being what could have been an hour to three hours and he goes back to the car and is like what if they're dead you know checks if we're breathing living in his moment of reckoning because he knew that he said that god would not forgive that yeah held held older you guys. Do you think it was eight months. Oh maybe it was very early on mature. Don't bring us. Don't forget an associate's. Leave us in the crib. When you're yeah look i've made decisions that in the in the cold harsh light of sobriety make zero logical sense but at the time they were like bulletproof. Oh oh cams razor. This is the simple as best approach to this problem that now defy all logic so man just just handling eight month old twins ends. If you're dead sober in you had help would be too much. You probably wouldn't even choose to involve them in an errand like go pick up dry cleaning or something but he added just a man man. I can imagine going nope no sweat going to. I will be in their total formats. I'm gonna grab shit. I'll come back home then everything's golden wow in the fact that he owned that now. You and i have in common that so my dad also is an addict. Thank god he didn't have primary custody of us. My dad did and he got sober. He died thirty years sober. How how many years was your dad sober coupled around three or four years three or four years boy man and also there's a point in the book. I i just remember it. Being a great kind of cautionary tale. He had some long term. Sobriety life was going fantastic right that he hosted a a dinner party and people had left little bits of alcohol in different classes and he decided to combine them all into one glasses he was cleaning up and then he got to the sink deport on the thinking this is with some pretty long term sobriety plumbing and just said bottoms up and drank the weird fucking mix of every kind of alcohol would be served at a party and i just read that on oh god yeah that's an option for me still like just cleaning up and being like fucking crazy and it's what can you do to cushion yourself between you and the fuck. It's you know he just wasn't doing that anymore right. Yes i compare it to the tragic successive vaccine part of what they suffer from his how effective they are so people don't see people with polio and then they think i don't who's gonna get polio eleo. I don't i'd rather not have that chemical in my kid and it's like yeah because it worked and you don't know polio looks like so. It's like the better you get it get. It gets kind of harder to remember. Maybe that you need to do all those things right. Yes well and success like what what does it mean. When we sort of come across a modicum of success <hes> that we begin to feel special or like you don't want to sit in the room with everyone who's mentally ill even though every room that we're in is probably filled with mental illness i mean i just think that for when i asked him. How about his relapses. It really was like i just i served to believe i was special eliminated fixed it and that it was a crock problem wasn't an alcohol problem. If you look at him diagnostically it would definitely wasn't alcohol problem and but i think that what we need to examine is like relapse is part of recovery and there's this total weird thing that happens happens like he relapse and you shake your head and it's you know you're in the naughty chair for awhile and you have to raise your hand again. We're we're going to drink again unless we you don't yeah it's the most kind of predictable thing probably that will do the thing i like about this. Whole continuous sobriety as discounts discounts the fact that someone who maybe relapsed ten times over the course of twenty years but ultimately was sober for nineteen of twenty years. That's a huge win for an addict. Even if there was relapses in there and whatnot it's still a huge win and a huge victory and you can't only evaluate it by how much continuous sobriety there it was yeah absolutely okay so you. I do wonder how many parallels we have because your dad was charismatic. I met him before he was interesting charismatic. It was matic a good talker. My dad was a car salesman. He was the ultimate good talker. He was universally loved and a like everybody in a a lot people would come up to me like i. I can't imagine having your dad as a dad and i got a little resentful about that personally. It was there any is there any baggage that comes with having to dad who's like known for having written this book and he owned a lot of stuff but i bet he didn't own some stuff. You would have liked to to own or did that not happen. I mean there was a small amount of narcissism that persisted in his personality where i was an audience member. I was one of somebody see that you know i wouldn't be calling him and it kind of you know he wanted to talk about meeting you or you know the story that he wrote and it was just like being. His child was sort of secondary. I was somebody that could take in and understand and speak his language but i i was listening right and so. I think that there is resentment in that but i also if you ever if you ever read or look at an interview with him like he's so smart that i was genuinely learning every conversation we had so the resentment would dissipate when i was like oh this is an education and craft or how to talk to people or how to get to the story and sort of like thinking about that now that he's not here. I am so proud of being his kid. I want to continue talking about him because i'm so proud of him. I'm so proud of the night of the gun his book epic and devastating and dramatic and like there's almost nothing like it <unk> grow hundred pages. It's really really well written on top of everything else like the most brutal honesty. I've heard mixed with just great writing. He had a way of tapping nothing into universal's that i think that not everybody can really do now. Did you have any periods of estrangement from him for you always see because my story was i. I was resentful towards him. I then got sober. That kinda helped us but i still was carrying a lot of stuff. Everything i hate about myself is what i hated about him and then he got diagnosed with cancer and then we spent a lot of time together at the end it was incredibly cathartic healing and wonderful and i just wondered if you had any the of that similar journey yeah. I think that you're being able to see the conflict and see the things in yourself that you didn't like about him but also also for giving him <hes> that's rare. I think that a lot of people aren't they. Just let the resentment build and there's no forgiveness i mean i don't my dad was my primary mary parents and so i don't even i got angry at him. I didn't always have a place to stand ultimately. He did do the work right yes he. He raised you right yeah so that's relevant when you're reading the book. Can you remove yourself when you're reading it at. I would feel like it'd be so hard as a character in that story. It's so personal. It's mainly about him. Though so it's <hes> i you know they're they're developing it for graphics bob odenkirk and i fed about him playing my dad and they're trying to do it and tiree read it after he died and it was kind of just like hearing his foists his language and the way that he constructs sentences is sort of like deadwood meets don quixote. It's it's it's it's not a way that my my brain works and like i literally just wrote a book and it was like can be nothing like this. This is so you know well written <hes> but.

It's such a an expedited rapid fashion now. I mean, there's still a month to go. I mean, you know, perhaps, I hope not but perhaps people's memories will begin to fade a little bit. I mean, right. If you had an election tomorrow, I think the Democrats would just be wiped off the face of the earth. But you know, maybe maybe people's memories will fade a little bit. That's a that's a really good question. But the the way these polls have been running this weekend. And you know, I know some of these are Republican polls. But I mean, the the the the I mean, the the reaction that we're getting talk radio, I just broke. I broke fifty thousand on my Twitter feed took me a long time to get there. But it just it just went way up this week. And. You know, everybody and the the the the cable news ratings are way up everything people were really into this are into this can people find you on Twitter. At Howie Carr show. Thank you for asking grace at Howie Carr show. I'm Howie Carr could come in Faneuil..

"Strub yourself. Time for the Howie Carr show. You remember the tears from the fake news media is obvious that we were going to win. There's still crying look at this. Live from the Matthews brothers studios. And the only move for the Republicans at this point. Because basically you're seeing on display a metaphor of like what this party is. And just basically just ignorant white men and you just see on display. Why wouldn't you err on the side of showing everybody that you did everything you could to give four due process? That's called. He has the Furden. Okay. We can debate that I really don't think that it's fair to say that the burden is on Brett Kavanagh to prove a non falsifiable claim with no corroborating evidence from the time. Thank you, captain. I'm chaim. Has been accused of physical and mental Jesus by his ex girlfriend. Who's your canton? By the New York Times on their face. They said that you had authorized the purchase fifty thousand dollars rates. We told the reporters that these were the facts, they knew the facts and they release the story anyway. And I think it goes to see you talk. The New York Times said this isn't the case and they've printed it anyway, they printed anyway. And it was down in the story and Mike the seventh paragraph down at the bottom and swamps hacks and moan, bats, beware. It's how a Carr. Eight four four or five hundred forty two forty two you know, the sixth amendment goes way back goes even further back than Magna the Magna Carta in the what the thirteenth century or the. Yeah. Thirteenth century. It goes back to Roman law, and the Roman governor Porsches Festus he cited in a supreme court. Decision in the apostles New Testament book discussing the proper treatment of the prisoner. Paul. This is from one of the texters. I heard a I heard it the SAF this morning to about another radio show. This is what the Roman governor said talking about Paul the apostle what they're gonna do with them. It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man up to die before the accused has met his accusers face to face and has been given a chance to defend himself against the charges. But that was two thousand years ago, plus where we're better than that. Now. That's not who we are. We do. We do serve a man deliver a man up to die before he's met his accusers. Face to face reputation is gonna die. His career is going to die before he has been given a chance to defend himself against the charges. That's progress. Yeah. We're yeah. We're we're moving where it's the it's the arc of history as as Barack Obama would say for the Trump line..
