"Trump is calling on the FBI to return documents protected by attorney client and executive privileges reportedly taken from Mar-a-Lago. Trump took to truth social Sunday to respectfully request that the documents be returned to the residents immediately. Fox News reported Saturday that agents took 5 boxes from Mar-a-Lago that supposedly contained such documents, however, an unsealed search warrant revealed that agents on the scene were allowed to seize anything connected to the transmission of national defense information or classified material. The FBI had no comment in response to Trump's request. Representative Adam Schiff says he's seen no evidence that former president Trump declassified the documents seized from his Mar-a-Lago residence. The idea that 18 months after the fact Trump could simply announce well, retroactively declassifying or whatever I took home had the effect of declassifying them is absurd. Appearing on CBS's face the nation the California Democrat said that it should be determined if there was effort to go through the process of declassification during Trump's presidency, according to a list of items seized in the search that was made public Friday, many of the documents were classified as secret, confidential or sensitive, Schiff also noted that the statutes the former president was being investigated for violating didn't require the documents to be classified, but simply damaging to national security. In the wake of the raid Schiff and fellow representative Carolyn maloney have requested a briefing and damage assessment from the director of national intelligence that he is confident will be granted. "A lawyer for former president Trump previously signed a statement stating all classified documents held at Mar-a-Lago, had been returned. Jim Forbes tells us that's according to The New York Times. The newspaper said the declaration was signed after the Justice Department's top counterintelligence official visited Trump's Florida residents on June 3rd. Sources told the times a subpoena was also issued for Mar-a-Lago's surveillance footage that showed boxes being moved in and out of the storage room after Justice Department officials had contacted Trump's team. On Monday, FBI agents seized about 20 bucks of documents that included 11 sets of classified information during a raid of Mar-a-Lago. At least 13 are injured after a car plowed into a crowd of people in Pennsylvania, attending a benefit for victims of a fatal fire last week. The car ran into a crowded berwick, north of Philadelphia, the event to raise money for families of the NES fire last week, which killed ten. I'm Scott Carr. And I'm susannah Palmer in the Bloomberg newsroom. Saudi Aramco posted the biggest quarterly adjusted profit of any listed company globally. It was driven by high crude prices and production. Aramco followed other big oil rivals in reporting a surge in profits, Aramco said today net income rose to $48.4 billion in the second quarter that's up from 25 and a half billion a year earlier. Profit beat analyst estimates of 46.2 billion. Revenue also beat the estimates it climbed 80% to $150 billion at Saudi Aramco The New York Times has come out with endorsements in New York City democratic primary races for Congress. We get more about that from Bloomberg's Denise Pellegrini. Susanna, the newspaper is backing Jerry Nadler over Carolyn maloney. Their districts on the upper west side and upper east side of Manhattan while they were merged into a newly configured 12th district. And that's what's pitting them against each other this time around. The times is also endorsing representative Sean Patrick maloney and incumbent running for a newly drawn district and dead Goldman, a former federal prosecutor and heir to the Levi Strauss fortune. The times is among those pointing out that these races are particularly important because they could help determine whether Democrats or Republicans when control of the House in November. Susannah. Bloomberg's Denise Pellegrini. Traders and investors are saying the rally that has pushed stocks up for four weeks in a row, may continue. Ramsay, CIO at Luthor group, says stocks can head higher. Even if he thinks it's a cyclical bear market. You know, maybe we'll hold off on trimming equity exposure yet for a few more weeks just given the power of this thing. The chair of the House oversight committee is urging HHS to declare monkeypox a public health emergency. New York Democrat Carolyn maloney wrote a letter to Health and Human Services secretary, Javier becerra, calling on the department to issue the declaration so it can access emergency funds. She said the move would help empower a more robust response. An Australian developed COVID-19 vaccine patch is far more effective than using a typical needle. Brian shook has the very latest. Scientists at the university of Queensland tested the high density microarray patch and found it was nearly 11 times more effective at fighting the omicron variant than the same vaccine delivered with a needle. "Seemed to be enough. It was, and then in California, a Republican congressman David valadao narrowly advanced in his primary out there. Trump didn't really intervene in that race. I think maybe because of Kevin McCarthy, who's a neighbors of district that valadao has may have prevailed upon the former president to stay out of that race. But is probably the only Republican who could win that district in November. Ten of their ten Republicans started to impeach Trump 6 of them were seeking reelection for them decided to retire. So we've had two of them had to go through the have had to go through the crucible of primaries and then you've got four left three as we mentioned on August the second and then the last one is the biggest one probably of them all on August 16th Liz Cheney and Wyoming. Yeah, that one is going to be particularly interesting. Is there any chance at this point that that Liz Cheney actually winds up pulling out a victory here? It's really hard to see just based on the polling. I mean, totally shows are well behind. And it seems like the anti chaining vote has coalesced around one candidate Harriet hagman, who's the choice of former president Trump. If there had been, say, four or 5 serious candidates who could split the anti Cheney vote and allow her to win with a plurality. I mean, that would certainly benefit her, but because most of the anti Cheney vote will be will accrue to Harriet Hagrid. That's not a good sign for Cheney. Yeah, it's going to definitely certainly be a difficult race for her. I know you were tweeting out today. Some of the folks who have donated to her and it's really eye popping to see how many of her colleagues have donated to her opponent. Harriet hagman, Greg, we've only got about 30 seconds left, so I'm gonna put you on the spot here with a really short answer. New York primaries are also coming up. What's the one race to watch? Well they did two hundred, two hundred million people are now vaccinated, 60% of New Yorkers are now vaccinated and he promises to have enough juice doses out in the community by the end of May to get everyone vaccinated that's the road to recovery. We've now turned the corner. We all have to get vaccinated and he's off that way. I think he's done incredible job I knew he'd be a good president. I didn't I didn't realize he was going to be such a hell-raiser and my son so fast he's great but you know how do you respond Carolyn to Ron Johnson who's going around saying that the vaccinations shouldn't be given to everybody? I mean what's going on with these people? Well, I can't talk about him. We have probably the best medical care system in the world. They produced a vax vaccine and record time. It was tested and approved and I've been vaccinated practically everybody. I note the problem that we have with right now in my district is not they're not a not enough doses out for the people who want it off. And we have to get the herd immunity to be able to make sure we can. Other people won't get infected with this incredibly life-threatening virus off. So, everybody should read the science and I believe in science and I believe we should vaccinate.

"Yeah. And can you see it? Yep, earlier well-known model for the virus is slow erosion. New vaccine. Confidence is a cause for concern, virus transmission. It also says, is increasing Thursday or States. We've also learned that vaccination rate seems to be declining, meaning, it's not the time for people like Republican Senator Ron Johnson to start panicking spear, see Flames about vaccine. Passports, also telling people could not get vaccinated. That is what he did though, in an interview Thursday, My standpoint because it's not officially through vaccine. I think we probably should have limited the distribution to it to the the vulnerable. The people that really aren't is a very young age. I see no reason to be pushing, vaccines on people, and keeping them honest, everything they said is wrong and dangerous, vaccines save lives and the vaccines improved in this country. Have all been shown through testing to do just that safely. So I mean, what's wrong with this freaking? You know, I don't know. Is there something that we don't know whether they actually want to see people die? I mean, I mean, I mean it's cuz here's the thing, here's the thing, intelligent people. And I want to say this, I guarantee you, there's a hell of a lot more dead rats that are vaccinated. Then there are Republicans, the people that are left when you start seeing, well, there's a decline in Fascinations, it's because the people that are left are saying, I ain't get no vaccine. I don't trust them. At the end of the day, every time, one of those dies, that's one less frigging Trump supporter. That's just the way that it is, they're killing their own friggin people. That's what they're doing. And I don't think they realize that they are literally pushing so much bullshit and the people that are following for it are not the Democrats. The people that are falling forward of the people that still think that Donald Trump's going to come back in 2022, these are the people that think that that Lindale Jacqueline is actually going to bring evidence out, that's going to save Donald Trump and put him back in the white house. I mean, you gotta be stupid to not do this shit off. I mean, how people are freaking dying? We have lost almost six hundred thousand Americans, six hundred thousand Americans. We've lost over three million people across the globe and dr. Burke said, Richard that hundreds of thousands of lives could have been prevented if Donald Trump would have acted sooner. Absolutely, you know, and handled differently. Absolutely. And the thing is dead. It's already spiking up again. There was over, 300,000 brand new cases in one day in India 300,000. When the United States of America is fully vaccinated and we hit the herd immunity for the country. It's not over for us. We have to then send teams all over the world. We need to absolutely be the leader of the Free World. And we need to absolutely invest in making sure that other countries get vaccinated. That's a fact, I don't give us what anybody says, tax dollars, tax dollars if this doesn't stop and we don't offer the world. Read her treats, her community continues to go people continue to die. Doesn't stop..

Election Officials Declare Winners in Two New York Democratic Primaries After Federal Judge Finds Voters Disenfranchised

"Of Election certified the results of the June 23rd primary earlier today. It comes one day after a federal judge issued an order directing board of elections across the state. To re examine their absentee ballot totals to consider votes tossed out for missing a postmark as long as they were received by June 25th. It's just the latest twist in New York's pandemic primary, which saw a tenfold increase in the number of absentee ballots, compared to 2016. Joining us now W. N Y City Hall and politics reporter Bridget Bergen Ridge it let's start with what happened today. The Board of Election certified the results of a primary that took place six weeks ago. That means they finished counting. But why did it take so long? Jamie, You said it right there that we saw that tenfold increase in the number of absentee ballots. People really were taking advantage of this expanded absentee ballot system that Governor Cuomo Did through executive order because of the pandemic, and then the counting process associated with it was very methodical. You know. Absentee ballots can be rejected for a lot of reasons. Missing signatures were among the biggest issues, but Another issue. We first reported here at WNYC and Gothamist was related to ballots invalidated for missing postmarks. Two candidates and 14 voters sued the state Board of Elections and Governor Cuomo, arguing that voters were being disenfranchised through no fault of their own due to missing postmarks. Absentee ballots needed to be postmarked by June 23rd and arrive at the board of Elections by June 30th to count and there was a big decision in that case late last night. Give us a quick overview of that lawsuit. Last week, there was a two day evidentiary hearing where witnesses testified about how the Board of elections handled this flood of absentee ballots and how the United States Post office process them. Some of what we learned was pretty shocking. Like the fact that the Board of elections dropped off more than 34,000 ballots to the post office to mail to voters the day before the primary. That meant voters would need to get that ballot in the mail on June 23rd rushed to a post office box before five if they had any chance of mailing it with a postmark. To make it eligible. And beyond that, there was evidence introduced that showed that more ballots in Brooklyn were invalidated for missing postmarks than in any other borough. Wow. Then tell us more about the ruling issued last night. So Judge Annalisa Torahs presided over this case in the southern district. She found the plaintiff's arguments more persuasive that ballots were in fact treated differently in different parts of the city. She ordered the New York State Board of Elections to direct all local boards to count otherwise valid absentee ballots, missing postmarks as long as they were received by June 25th 2 days after the primary. She also criticized the state's argument that it didn't intentionally disenfranchise voters where they basically pointed to failures by the post office and tried to place the blame on them. She wrote quote. The Constitution is not so toothless. When voters have been provided with absentee ballots image assured that their votes on those ballots will be counted. The state cannot ignore a later discovered a systemic problem that arbitrarily renders those ballots invalid. What does it mean Bridget that the city Board of Election certified the election results? Isn't that a violation of the judge's order? Well. The city also directed its staff in each borough to prepare to count the ballots that qualify under the judge's order. And they said, they're just awaiting direction from the state Board of elections to go ahead and do that. Okay, so assuming the order stands, could it change the outcome of any Racists? You know, is one of the plaintiffs lawyers, Remmy Green said at a press conference this morning. We don't know what we don't know yet certainly one of the plaintiffs Raj Patel, who is a candidate in New York's 12th Congressional District, which covers parts of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. He's hopeful that this will help because he's currently trailing Carolyn Maloney abi about 3700 votes, but at this point, it's not really clear there are enough votes to change that race. However, there could be other races and other parts of the state that we don't know about. And one of the plaintiff interveners in this case, Maria Coffer who ran for District leader AA position in Queens. She only lost two City council member Karen Causal. It's by about 100 boats, so we'll see if there's anything that changes their 100 votes. Wow. What was the reaction from the State Board of Elections have they signaled any plans to appeal? So I have yet to hear from anyone from the State Board of Elections or the New York Attorney general's office who is representing the state. In this matter. I will note that one of the attorneys for the plaintiffs basically warned the state and governor Cuomo against appealing. Here's attorney, Ali Nagy. Me. Governor Cuomo. Your legacy is on the line. If you will peel this, you'll lose in the appeal, and you will be another second round suppressor votes, and that is not what the governor needs. Now, if the state did appeal, obviously, that matter would go before the Court of Appeals, and it's worth noting. Earlier this summer, this same judge Analisa Torres ruled against the state Board of elections. In another election law case, she overturned their decision to cancel the Democratic presidential primary. That case went before the Court of Appeals and her ruling stands.

COVID-19 Relief Bill Oversight: Here's What You Need To Know

"The house is expected to pass a two trillion dollar corona virus related economic rescue package today it's the biggest in history and it includes a five hundred billion dollar funds that the treasury department will use to help American corporations that is a lot of money so in pairs to mac has been looking into what kind of oversight there will be a time Hey there so five hundred billion Bucks how does this bill ensure that none of it will be wasted that there will be no fraud well so the bill creates what is called the pandemic response accountability committee it's made up of existing inspectors general from various government agencies who will work together to conduct investigations and audits into these programs the legislation allocates twenty million dollars for the government accountability office and also includes a special inspector general just to focus on that five hundred billion dollars that the treasury department has in order to work with corporations and finally there is eighteen question all oversight commission that will be reporting to Congress every thirty days leads temple with the director of public policy at the project on government oversight praised the frequent reporting requirements in the bill it does allow you to also do kind of that real time oversight that's going to be really important in a situation like this for the money is being spent very quickly so they've woven oversight into the heart of this bill in order to try and reduce the chance of corruption they will then a lot of oversight and based on what you've just said how did this all end up in the legislation so much of it well here's one example Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren she played a central role on an oversight panel she cheered during the tarp bailout and she is again playing a role in getting this congressional oversight into this legislation here's how it happened on Monday evening president trump answered a question about funds in the coronavirus legislation hello I'll be the oversight I'll be the elder said we're gonna make good deals we make good deals that alarmed Warren who according to a source close to to the senator called called Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer that night to see if they had locked in better oversight provisions in the bill and some other lawmakers are taking credit for other varies accountability provisions Carolyn Maloney who chairs the house oversight committee offered ideas for that committee of inspectors general we spoke about for example you have also been talking to watchdog groups have nothing to do with the government these are independent independent groups and what are they saying well so there are some holes in it Craig Coleman he's a lobbyist for the watchdog group public citizen said that the bill doesn't prohibit corporations from using the funds for political purposes so that means major corporations that are receiving billions of dollars in bail out funds will be able to who will also make expenditures trying to lobby the federal government to either change the law or secures significant government contracts or even make political expenditures to try to influence those will be in the position of determining what the law means and remember that committee of inspectors general I mentioned earlier Jennifer Ahearn the policy director of citizens for responsibility and ethics in Washington spotted an issue four of the eight named inspector generals are technically vacant and so there's an acting inspector general serving in that role that means those four haven't been confirmed by the Senate and have other jobs they have to do on top of their oversight responsibilities and Molly Clifford as she's the oversight council the chief oversight counsel at the watchdog group American oversight she had this to say there's going to be for others going the way since some of these recovery friends and there certainly will be profiteering I think every CEO in America is going to want to get their hands on a piece of this check but she also says that the bill gives the public some tools but I think this is the least gives Congress the geo and the inspectors general the mechanisms to try to hold things accountable and make sure the funds are spent the most responsible way to benefit the American people so generally government accountability groups are optimistic with the overall oversight provisions in this bill NPR's Tim mak thanks him thanks a lot

"The strong economy and low unemployment rate factors in the census count with some parts of the country lagging in the once every ten your account of course the numbers of that congressional redistricting and federal dollars to states and cities and hearing on Capitol Hill the house oversight committee with questions to census bureau director dot doctor Stephen dealing him in New York Democrat Carolyn Maloney the committee chair and doctor telling him about this new report from G. A. R. we just heard is very troubling and just like the witnesses that we heard from all I guess it was last month this new report seems to be sending flashing red lights are warning that the census bureau simply is not ready for what's about to happen this important challenge before us now in this new reported in the testimony we just heard Jerry they they warn of an adequate recruitment and hiring missed target dates insufficient progress working with community partners a significant cyber security challenges and I could say the list goes on and on and on I want to give you a chance to respond I know GAO gave us gave you and gave us the report hello a week ago so why is the census bureau so far behind in so many aspects of the preparations across the board Mr telling him doctor Dillingham madam chairwoman it's a very good question and let me say that on the point of view of the census bureau we are not behind and let me show you some charts we provided members with charts today as to where we are the first chart we have is the recruiting chart now the recruiting chart as pointed out by G. A. always based on self response rates we have three scenarios here now the what the figures being cited which we did ourselves very ambitious goals the worst case scenario if our self response rate drops to fifty five percent which no one expects but if it did we would need we would want to point seven million people recruited from which we would hire about a half million people that is the worst case scenario the next scenario is the sixty point five percent and that's probably the more reasoned scenario in which case we would hire three hundred twenty thousand people now as of this morning we have two point three million completed applicants two and a half million they have started their applications and it's increasing about twenty thousand a day we will meet we will meet the worst scenario goal by the first week of March and then we're gonna surpass it there is no doubt we would lie we currently have a valid for applicants for every position we want five applicants we actually would like more so we're going to have those applicants in so recruiting I that's the first thing I'll address the head of the census bureau today's house oversight committee and questions from New York democratic committee chair Carolyn
