"I felt like someone who put me like electrocuted me. Every night go on stage is life first tour. We just literally like the entire show. I would just feel like like i. It wasn't even it's beyond adrenaline. I don't know how to explain it. And i remember when not wore off Will last forever. And it's just funny. It's like years later actors so much. Calmer onstage And probably less nervous than i have been which i think is cool. Maybe i'm becoming more confident or more able to go with the flow. I used to be very like have to have the set down after everything. Perfect like judging every single thing is there's a little bit of first of all less of the weight is on you because you're not the front person and then secondly there's a little bit there's a degree to which you just have to let go because all those guys have so decades and decades more experience collectively than i do and they might change their and they're gonna coal mehanna take me along for the ride and i just feel lucky that they kind of take care means under their wings so It's actually a really cool experience. So far but fenway is always amazing. And i got jackson family and friends areas. Billy's official so every artist. Obviously you are bad bone. You're so talented. You have such a vision in. You deserve this spot in this opportunity more than anyone. But why do you think zack round shows you to take you under his wing and develop you and bringing along and give you these experiences and really like neutral you as you said you dreamed while i think. What's what do you think was the reason he picked you. Well actually johnson justice instrumental. Jimmy buffett has done similarly and learning like. They really are Well they to answer your first question. Why he brought me on this tour It's a weird question to answer. I mean obviously he thinks that can add something. Hope adding a cool female harmony that they usually don't get up top And some hopefully just really my goal with stories just like super solid insistent rhythm guitar playing irvine play banjo. Electric at it's very solid consid- just adds to the foundation of what they have so much. Virtuosity going on and their arrangements or so set in stone so Clearly he thinks that can add something. And i'm just trying to do that justice And you know it's cool to have email energy out there too. I think And then jimmy mentoring.

"Believe it. I was so excited since i'm So at the helm of my own career. It's such a cool refreshing gig to have to be in in the wheel of someone else's you know ban and and to really commit myself to learning their whole catalog with the hex learn fifty one songs and they changed their set lists every night and and to really dedicate myself to rhythm guitar playing. Which mostly what. I'm doing a show and that such a like deceiving lee simple thing but like great acoustic rhythm retired playing is especially in a band like this It's just been so fun to focus on not again and It's just a blast. Like i feel so honored to be up there with them. I pinch myself every night I had to learn be three. So i've never played. I'm really comfortable. Linke's by never played the oregon before so i'd like a crash course. Kazak was like will you. He's like you've played three right. I'm like but i will by august a crash course in three in accident so cool so it's just a great musical challenge. I feel really lucky. 'cause i love musical challenges like all in want in light superpower better musicians songwriters producers that i just want to be a better artist and so it's so cool that sack Has given me this opportunity. And so what does that. What the what is the feeling because you obviously played for big crowds as caroline jones as you're open for big artists. What does it feel like to be to be feeling the feeling of superstar artists though like being on stage background not disband being an integral part of the show. How does that feel to just feel that superstar energy coming at you. Audience is that is it. different is the same will. You're right it is different because there's a real Like meeting of energy in expectation that you get when you're the person ever comes to see you know versus weird opener. You're really trying to win over the audience your energy and so it is different. But i'd i've sat in with them over the years a bunch of times so i know kind of what they're ho said at stages in what that feels like but i will say it's really cool to be to not have to be the front man for once because a really got to focus on the guitar playing and singing in harmonies and rhythm section like there's so much going on it's hard to explain for people who haven't ever performed before but there's so much going on like in a band of that size of nine people there's just so much like musical richness and information that you could be listening to all the time even if the audience were there you you'd be all occupied like your brain and your heart your musical Brain heart and then there's twenty five thousand people out there and they're all having a similar but unique experiences and you can with the people watching. It's unbelievable so it's actually so cool. Because when i'm performing as the front person internally jones i'm i'm thinking about my vote on thinking about performing i'm thinking about playing. I'm thinking about leading the ban of onstage. Live is totally different. Yeah exactly and so. It's been really cool actually so far. I've i've million joy. Were you nervous that first night. They not play fenway park. I mean let's not forget that again. You played that round when he had the most consecutive sold out nights in a row match. Or yeah okay. you're playing again. What does that the first time. He stepped on stage as a special performer. Guest batman For this tour. What did you feel like. Did you like dislike energized. But our fis flying your ears. I mean what. Was it like. Absolutely i think i don't know if it's experienced our age i feel like i'm more calm than i've ever been which is really cool because i remember the first four was act like i literally every night i felt. Just you can't explain what it's like being put in front of ten or fifteen twenty thousand people like. I felt like someone who put me like electrocuted me. Every night go on stage is life first tour. We just literally like the entire show. I.

"So how do you know what your next step is. I always love people like you. Who are so in tune with like their guy regarded system from above unlike trusting. Their gut intuition. And clearly you have identified your dreams and talents and your drive and you're passionate a young age. You know you wanted to do for a long time. The more puzzle pieces that you found like the bluebird and realizing his country musee you died farther and farther into your passionate curiosity and love. because that's the sole guiding you. But how no when you have the green light to take that next step. When you are trusting and i love way said holding it open letting it having your visualization What your heart in your soul is telling you that you want to do but then like leading the pieces fall. I love that so much relates that how do you know when it's time to make moot. But what does it feel like when you all of sudden like. Oh my god. This is the next i feel it. I think it feels like the most natural thing. Like i think so. Many people just don't trust themselves and don't trust what feels good to them because we're not really taught in this culture that what feels good to you is right like or that being happy and fulfilled is ultimately the goal. You know we're taught to all these other. Trappings of success successor. The goal. so. I think once you get really clear about your priorities. I think the next step is usually pretty obvious natural. I think it's only when i get my priorities out of order that i get confused and unsure of myself like when other people convince you that this should be a priority sir. You realize that you're living for this or this or this instead of your values like i think if you're really clear about your values and what you actually want then you can go. That's not to say that. Any external success. Trappings wrong because if that is your word that is your old than just go straight ahead that an has its own challenges but i think being cleared. I think so many of us especially women which so so commonly second guessing ourselves you know. An- not trusting ourselves not like really living for what's going to fulfil us and then by extension everyone around us so this is awesome that you know all this. How did you get this. How did you get this confidence when you go into therapy to get this or were you born into family. That likes top. This or was just innately. How were they. How did you know this in. What are your priorities in like. What is your clarity that allows you to stay moving on the skull without like looking left right and feeling like you might get lost in the traffic comparison or trying to live for what someone else ones or feel. Like you've had her a cow does have gotten sidetracked by all of that in state clear on your priority during your career because sure. There's a lot of chances that you could have tried to jump ship in like abandoned. The road you're on and kinda gore mainstream or you know do something of feels like could be quicker to success but you have staged their true. So what are your priorities in. How did you learn these well. I'm very step. For.

"Been built in pioneered by real rebels and renegades in people with different sounds like if you go back and we think that such a traditional conventional genre but like there was nothing traditional or conventional about willie nelson or the carter stanley or hank williams or johnny cash. Like dolly parton. Like caesar total trail-blazing rebels and i love that It's just so much artistic courage that has built this genre and so just over the years country just like led. Its way into my songwriting. And i'm not traditional country by any stretch. But i love country music and affiliates missing piece of me finding my sound. So then what happened you fall in love your at the bluebird you obsess learned all about everything and then what what's next. So that leaves you believe right now is so cool that you are on tour zac round. But you're like on tour with him with his band. It's like you and zac brown. It's not your opening background. You're onstage zac. Brown and brown been performing and singing so bad as it is so cool. Even when you say i'm jay And love your journeys. How did how did this happen. Like what a crazy awesome opportunity for life really is quite a few things happened before this but i started Writing in working with writers and producers in national in my late teens. And i loved. I just the songwriters the national and the musicians in nashville the producers. They're my musical heroes. But i realized that i really on the age. That if you don't really know who you are it's tough To sound like yourself when you get in those rooms because those writers and producers so well practiced in creating commercial country music that It can be tempting to just Kind of become a role with what's working what's happening. Yeah and enter become kind of carbon copy of what's going on and kind of paint by numbers artists in at a young age. I just really. I wanted to be a producer. I wanted to be as good works not being the producer necessarily even though i do produce now but to be wanted to hold my own musically not just be like a pretty girl who sang you know. I wanted to be a great musician. I wanted to truly great songwriter And a great producer Recognized how big the chasm was between like my experience level in my skill level and bears. And so i just like fully committed to writing and producing own for awhile in new york and turing around would book my own tours. These like high schools and colleges boarding schools for a few years. And i'm really spent my early twenty s just like hand making my albums. I had no manager no marketing team. Nothing like no one but me and And spent my early twenties twenty around schools in trying to get my feet wet playing live and learning how to produce my own records and total trial by fire. It probably took a lot longer than what if someone was showing me how to do it but not on devices which was good. He got to do it. Your own way and says navy's lady said someone else could have tried to influence you and you knew you didn't want that. Well that's what ends up happening For good reason because those those people are super experiencing super talented. I just always wanted to have a voice and be able to hold my own in. I feel like you really have to pay. You're used to be able to do that. Armand this just my way of doing that And then so after doing that for a few years. When i met rick we made the album that would become bear fee and he loved my sound. He loved my vision. He loved around. I'd never had that before. I've never had had had people come on and say oh you're so talented. Let's try this or this or this or that spread never had someone come in and say i get what you're i get who you are what you're trying to become and i want help you May vision happen. Come to fruition and that is really invaluable to some to find someone he believes in what you are trying to create as close as someone who sees your potential wants to create you in their you know their image or the vision that they have and i would say like a little bit after. My first single came out A friend of a friend Played it for zac brown. Oh okay that's good. Yeah exactly And zach just reached out to me. This was twenty Late two thousand sixteen early twenty seventeen in this. Kobe won bare feet. There's actually four. Bare feet was even out single. And i think i had an ap out We got out that you had produced yourself yet. That was my first ep that i produced with quake so this was my first official country. Pop release no. But i'm saying brown got. Did he get the one before beer feet so it was one that you had produced alone. No he. he got feet the all got and Because the highway was playing tough guys at the time. And i guess a brennan Played it for him. He reached out to me just totally unnecessarily just being super hospitable and kind warm and it's also just a god that it's one of those things you can't really explain rationally. And he reached out to me in and said he liked it in. If i needed help. Bert i remember. He called me once Zac brown came up on my phone for the first time i know so this total random happenstance that lake is at ground is in your life. It actually did did happen pretty randomly. I mean we did have that friend of a friend connection initially but then all all the events that followed that were he did not have to do any back so he asked me to canal an open to dates on his two thousand seventeen. Welcome home tour. And i thought i died and gone to heaven and i came out that it was a weekend in june and i came out and never played for a crowd that big before And i came out played On the the second night of the run the last night of the run. He asked me to come up. Sang a song with them on stage. And like i said. I'd never played that many people before. Let alone now playing on stage with background band and i. I can't really describe to people what it feels like when actually will dream Like something that you actually visualize in your mind. Dreams of the actual moment is happening. And it's.

"Completely eat like black walnut trees. And there's another type of tree had looked up it is it's it's got spots on it with a red back and they are fast as bad word side. They're fast as hell and go to kill it and it just moves and they're they completely eat all the trees and vegetation. they'll destroy anything so our communities have told us to kill them immediately when you see them but they're getting out of control and check this out the land live. Wow we just have murder hornets up. Here it's around. The house comes to remodeling and renovating home a lot. This is around the house. Welcome to around the house with eric g and caroline jones. Mcveigh's thanks for joining us today. Carolina and i are in the studio welcome caroline. Hey everyone happy week had all do survived it again and you and i have been so jammed busy and you know i can tell when. We're jam busy. When i have already blasted through my one terabyte of comcast xfinity internet without watching movies or downloading staff. When i've seen that we've blown that up already in a month and it's middle a month. I know that it's been a busy time. Yeah we've got a lot of content a lot of things going on like how about the skibo this week. I mean. I got eric the national well. Actually you know what i found out. It wasn't a national ski ball championship. It was a rematch so it was like this like preliminary matchup because i guess they couldn't have it last year so that was like a rematch. Technically i think the national titles still belongs to lawn futterman but Joey the cat tried to pull out a A win and he did. What an amazing game like ski. Bobby honest i. I'm on the west coast here on the east coast so we have different games and stuff that go on. I mean i have seen this chucky cheese. I've seen in the county fair. But to be honest i've never walked into an adult facility and saw this the mike. Wow this is the real deal. I mean i've seen like cornhole an axe throwing and some of the other stuff out there. I actually in us last week. Did not know this was a thing but it's going to go. They're trying to build it up to and make it like an espn event and it was actually fascinating it for those of you. Who don't know ski bowl. Basically rolling balls right up his alley and typically you see them at the boardwalk rate or maybe some great adventure will have them and where. There's you know entertainment right. Amusement parks that and so i learned this word. It's called hyundai gam- no right and that's when you score the little hundreds in the corner and i'm like what is the hundred like that's like now. It's like the word of the week. I was shocked at how detailed this was because it was so detailed. i had a first time watcher. It was hard to go okay. Well that's what all these combinations you could get. A bonus was a hippo fish. Yeah i was like what is this. It was kinda cool. It was different. I'm like that would be kind of fun in a bar. You know. I mean i get that. That was what that was but it was like that. Is something different. This cat who was like the national championship. He rolls these up into the fifty whole. So your role in these balls like he's a machine and he just keeps rolling up pop them in pop them in it. Oh my god gay for like two and a half hours. It didn't it. I mean it was like a whole match thing. This was like watching. This was the ski ball soccer match. You know where it was like all right now. we're going into round three three it out. It was like a bar. So they're having this thing and there's all these people cheering and holding up like those giant fat heads with each of the national champions heads. And i mean it's it's really fun. It was fun fun stuff to watch so it was on now. Who's crazy. five thousand four watching it on youtube. That's a lot. I was impressed. I was impressed tonight. Yeah let's get them on for the mid week. We'll we'll find out the inside details on this. And by the way if you're listening to the radio mid week specials where you catch the podcast which you can do anywhere you catch podcasts or just order website around the house online dot com today carolyn and i were talking about talking about exterior projects a little bit because some that we haven't really done a deep dive into and awhile and talk about doing some of those exterior things and i had a funny story this last week. That was kind of funny. And i was haven't even told caroline this story that i was going to tell her that story. So that's how crazy this says got pictures of. It's all posted up on the on the facebook page. But we're moving Julius oldest dodder my wife's oldest daughter from one apartment to the other this last week and of course as every twenty year old she miraculously picks the degree data to do the move. But that's just murphy's law. So i was sweating to the oldies but i love the kids. Do you just gotta go along for the ride on this stuff. So we do that. Do the move. But i'm like where all these squirrels go into this apartment. She was in. I was shocked and mike. Where are they going. And there's this like rock eighties rockwall with the athol cannock rockwall. That's all with mortar in it. These squirrels are running up on. Like where are they going. There is a hole about the size of my fist and it was like the world's biggest multifamily squirrel nest in it where they chewed through the soft in the bill where he moving into a house. Bill there was shoes. Moving out of and there is what there was is. There is a staircase and there was a cover that came down over the staircase and this was the end wall there. That was holding up the staircase so when you walked down the stairs there is a kind of a wall to keep the rain and stuff from coming. It was in that an wall that whole probably what sixteen foot high wall was packed. Full of squirrels. And i got a really cool picture of of the squirrels head poking out of it i mean i was. I'm like okay. Guys what's funny is is. This thing is literally twenty feet from the main office store. And i'm like i've been standing here looking for five minutes and standing here just paying attention to what's going on and it was that quick. I'm gonna show carolina picture here because this getting it on his phone. I get on my phone here because this was so there's a squirrel the set out a monkey monkey head. Oh my god he's saying now. Let's see that's the thing. That's one of the biggest things when you're talking exterior projects. It is so smart just to walk outside in spend half hour staring at. What's going around your house. One hundred percent and even to do it in a rainstorm or to do it in some kind of torrential downpour is even better because then you see something coming over the gutter. Is the roof leaking right. I mean you need to do these things because we just sort of ignore it and it tells you a lot about what's going on inside for sure absolutely absolutely it's one of those things that you see it and it's for instance i like to out and i can. I can watch. How stand out like right now outside. Go out on a sunny day in spend fifteen twenty minutes and look. What do i see. Oh wow there's a wasp nest up there or hornets desktop. Or you'll see you'll see stuff going on and you're like oh i gotta deal with that. Hey that woodpeckers attack tacking that part of the house. I've got to places of woodpecker damage on the outside of my house where they're attacking it in so the same kind of thing you get that rain all of a sudden with the rain coming down. You're like oh man that gutters who flowing. I never saw that or even worse. I've got a pool of water. That's going to drain away pretty.

"Great American. Let's continue. We never stopped. Simply continue in about an hour, So we're gonna have Tony Bender. Good friend should be here. Which is course Governor Mike DeWine about what's going on. Two o'clock or so will carry that for you live as long as it is interesting and newsworthy. But until then, last night, the school board got together and essentially said nothing and a babbling, incoherent sense. Sounds like a radio talk show host. In which they decided in a week to take up the issue when to start school or not to start school, But they also said last night that athletics can proceed non contact sports Maybe this week and then football whatever next week, but none other emails were out this morning to give us different information. Nicole Frederick, who's a concerned parent and a mentor with Withrow High School, the home of the Tigers. I was online. I think for 4.5 hours it was a virtual meeting. Of course. It was too dangerous for the school board to get together. 6 ft apart. It was too much danger. But Nicole Frederick, welcome again in the Bill Cunningham show Nicole, How are you? I'm doing great. How are you doing? Well this afternoon talk to me about I kind of got in and got out. I couldn't take it anymore. Kind of give us the overview After 4.5 hours of babbling what Score school board family decide to do If anything, it was like it was like a comedy show. It was exhausting. Um, well after 4.5 hours, they would touch on it and they would go back and you know all this other business talk about it. Finally, at the end, it was approaching 11 o'clock at night, and they decided to say that CPS sports could move forward. Okay, So I'm very, very excited the relief and you could just hear the kids just so excited. You know, all across the city that this was happening, but they even then it was very confusing on exactly what they were saying. I believe there was an email that went out this morning to clarify it. Basically they're allowing the CPS athletic teams to do, um, inter district competitions, meaning they could only play schools within the district. This tweak ifyou're a contact sport may clarify noncontact starting play whoever they want your tennis your cross country. Those people your contact like your field hockey football. Those guys Interdistrict this week and interscholastic starting next week, and so at this point is I understand. On Friday night with Rose not going to play a condor taps not gonna play Schroeder. Or are they? That is a district so, yes, they would be allowed to play someone because those air CPS schools this Friday night, then starting next Friday night, which really affect schools like Walnut Hills and Clark because they are in different leagues that Include schools outside of the district. Your Withrow, You're Taft. You're huge. Your Woodward. They all are part of the C. Max. So they play each other anyway. Um, but The other schools would then be able to get back into their competition, your wallet and your Clark so nobody knows. Essentially, you think the E Mail's Today there may be games Friday night likely and maybe more likely games next Friday night. But in the meantime, scholastically, which is academically we're told by every expert in the world that Kenny Garden to the third or fourth grade, are critical in a child's education. As faras reading computing getting into the regiment and the regiment of Educational pursuit of excellence. What is the status of a 1st 2nd 3rd 4th grader at CPS. For the last six months or more. They've been out of school. No money can actually say honestly, not even Tony Bender. That river kind of remote learning works. You can teach a second grader and a dysfunctional environment and CPS. You can't teach that kid how to read because it doesn't work remote. What is the status of remote learning? Would CPS as we speak? That was also a big, muddy water. Last night, they went back and had a lot of discussion. I know that one of the members Messer he actually has younger Children in the system, and he was the first one to voice a big concern about how hard it was for him. And he even said, I have the resources to hire somebody. And he did hire a tutor to help during the day with his young Children, and that tutor quit and said, I can't do this. This is too hard. I can't do it. And so you can imagine someone has the resources to have this extra help. Come in. How the hell are other people in the district getting their young Children to learn how to read? In other words, that is not in all fairness that is not happening. And there's about 6000 kids and CPS in the district who have been disconnected for six months. They're likely to be disconnected for the foreseeable future for a long time, which means there'll be no reading learned, which means the problems caused by the school board here is unbridled. Is there any indication next Monday? That CPS will open it up completely. The answer, of course, is no correct. They have three choices. Open completely or secondly, a little bit in a little bit out, or thirdly, stay remote. You got any gleaning from any of the five school board members? Is it five or seven? I think it's 77. "Great American. Let's continue. We never stopped. Simply continue in about an hour. So we're gonna have Tony Bender is good friend should be here, which is, of course, Governor Mike DeWine about what's going on. Two o'clock or so will carry that for you live as long as it is interesting and newsworthy. But until then, last night, the school board got together and essentially said nothing and a babbling in coherence sense sounds like a radio talk show host. In which they decided in a week to take up the issue when to start school or not to start school, But they also said last night that athletics can proceed non contact sports Maybe this week and then football whatever next week, But now another emails were out this morning to give us different information. Nicole Frederick, who's a concerned parent and a mentor with Withrow High School, the home of the Tigers. I was online. I think for 4.5 hours it was a virtual meeting. Of course. It was too dangerous for the school board to get together. 6 Ft. Apart is too much danger. But Nicole Frederick, welcome again in the Bill Cunningham show Nicole, How are you? I'm doing great. How are you doing? Well this afternoon talk to me about I kind of got in and got out. I couldn't take it anymore. Kind of give us the overview After 4.5 hours of babbling what Score school board family decide to do If anything, I was like it was like a comedy show. The other is exhausting. Um, well after 4.5 hours, they would touch on it and they would go back and you know, made all the other business talk about. Finally, at the end, it was approaching 11 o'clock at night. And they decided to say that CPS sports could move forward. Okay, So I'm very, very excited the relief and you could just hear the kids just so excited. You know, all across the city, but this is happening, but they even then it was very confusing on exactly what they were saying. I believe there was an email that went out this morning to clarify it, but basically, they're allowing the CPS athletic teams. To do, um, inter district competitions, meaning they could only play schools within the district this week. If you're a contact sport may clarify Noncontact, starting play whoever they want your tennis your cross country. Those people your contact like your field hockey football. Those guys Interdistrict this week and interscholastic starting next week, and so at this point is I understand on Friday night with Rose not going to play a cantor taps not gonna play Schroeder. Max. So they play each other anyway, Um, but the other schools would then be able to get back into their competition, Your wallet and your Clark so nobody knows. Essentially, you think the E Mail's today there may be games Friday night. Likely and maybe more likely games next Friday night. But in the meantime, scholastically which is academically we're told by every expert in the world That Kenny Garden to the third or fourth grade are critical in a child's education as faras reading computing getting into the region, the regimen of educational pursuit of excellence. What is the status of a 1st 2nd 3rd 4th grader at C. P s. For the last six months or more. They've been out of school. No money can actually say honestly, not even Tony Bender. That river kind of remote learning works. You can teach a second grader and a dysfunctional environment in CPS. You can't teach that kid how to read because it doesn't work remote. What is the status of remote learning? Would CPS as we speak? That was also a big, muddy water last night, and they went back and had a lot of discussion. I know that one of the members Messer he actually has younger Children in the system, and he was the first one to voice a big concern about how hard it was for him, and he even said I have the resources to hire somebody, and he did hire a tutor to help during the day. With his young Children, and that tutor quit that. I can't do this. This is too hard. I can't do it. And so you can imagine someone has the resources to have this extra help. Come in. How the hell are other people in the district getting their young Children to learn how to read, in other words, that is not in all fairness that is not happening, and there's about 6000 kids and CPS in the district. Who have been disconnected for six months. They're likely to be disconnected for the foreseeable future for a long time, which means there'll be no reading learned, which means the problems caused by the school board here is unbridled. Is there any indication next Monday that CPS will open it up completely? The answer, of course, is no correct. They have three choices. "The DZ foundation that the greatest pathway to success is exposure so we create opportunities for women and children with our partnerships like the content hotels here in Chicago and also Milwaukee they certainly been a tremendous partner a mail out it allowed our organization to expand and do so so much more that's incredible so then I do not when you came on board for you a volunteer or were you just interested in the foundation yeah so basically Julie and I met late last year and and for me it was just a time in my life to it to give back to the Chicago community I've spent a lot of years in the hospitality arena here and I just really felt like having such a strong platform we could really do guide for Chicago so we had it off we naturally started planning and I'm plotting for the year ahead with how we could utilize all four cantons here in Chicago okay gray where I am not as some of the host hotels and the cost was just really near and dear to me so what kind of programs have you both sort of collaborated on I know there's been fashion shows what's been going on with you all hazel limit Pauline is never I mean is never ending which were excited about no one wants to you know follow a parked car I want to be a part of a moving train and so we're moving in where we we leave on people and we create life changing opportunities I should say I'm for people and children but we're truly excited about the backpack initiative with the consent we have our leading ladies panel series and which the Camden hotel on the content graces of a plea will be hosting or bringing in the most fabulous leading women in Chicago to for inspiration and also give back its native give back yeah we bring dresses on morning you wore on I should say unborn and new dresses until women that we're going to make over in twenty twenty and then we have our holidays in which that comes in will be a part of this huge surprise that we're gonna be surprising two thousand children in Chicago in three CPS schools on yes and so our kids and family in canton teams will certainly be a part of it so when I say it's going going it never stops what's it mean amazing we love the heart and they can send team and kids and family they truly have a heart for give back and social responsibility in Chile changing lives only in women but also children absolutely so then on when you do you collect these backpacks and school supplies how do you choose where they go and which neighborhoods are which schools so one of the things that we've I'm done is we with the schools as of a clean we actually interview the school that we surprise during the holidays while also when we actually select schools and that we're going to partner with specifically for the holidays and beyond we actually interview the principles we actually receive referrals and recommendations and then our board actually goes in and interviews a principles because we want to make sure that he truly have a heart and and passion for children and that they really want expand because these children deal with so much Paulina it's it's mind boggling and chili rings tears tears to your eyes we will make sure that it's a great partnership for not only daisy but also our partners because work sitting above and beyond and so when you have an amazing partners such as the camps in hotels and what they're doing we wanna make sure that it's a great synergy and they really get the heart of not only daisy but also our partners that were that were aligning ourselves with so with our backpack event coming up we actually selected Perkins **** it's a school located in in the Inglewood community okay mazing school on an incredible principle and leadership team that truly builds on the school for many many years started off at a lower tier on there's I guess yours I'm somewhat levels in different tiers of that I've heard about this system and it was actually ranks near the bottom and the principal miss Caroline Jones actually has truly came in and transfer I mean literally transform the school wow and there at the highest level as far as academic performance leadership scholastic I mean I mean just I mean I can go on and on and you go in and the heart of the school and the temperament of the temperatures really determined by difference will the leadership and I tell you when you go in its magnetic over just want to create opportunity so we actually surprised particular school in December of twenty eighteen with a huge holiday celebration in our board was very committed to creating new opportunities and when I mean I'm I'm basically came together with the cans and we met dean and the entire kids and family we just said listen Perkins as Marie wanted out we love Perkins this is a great opportunity for the kids on many of the kids are not exposed to other children's opportunities so this backpack initiative is something that the commission spear headed and it's going to be absolutely incredible in on next month in August August twenty six so we're really excited to get the children at a great start to the new school year absolutely and now where can anyone go for more information or if they want to donate or if they want to possibly get involved where can we check all this out at yeah absolutely so what what we have going right now we've got the Campden cares of Chicago volunteer organization that has built a go fund me page and it's go find me dot com backslash canton cares back to school and what we're asking for is either financial donations and we'll do the shopping for you okay also are accepting bulk donations we ask for a minimum of five hundred units of reason being we want to make sure everything is uniform for the students at the receiving we want to accomplish any sort of bullying or or anything that causes anything different for the students we want everything to be fair and even so if people do you want to donate involved five hundred units I've got the beautiful full school supply list from the principal and reach out to contain care Chicago I can tune hotels dot com and we can coordinate those bulk donations otherwise we just ask for for our great Chicago community to help us and we'll do the shopping for you and we've already reached out to several of our corporate partners and vendors who are helping us with both discounts and helping us get us across the finish line with us that's perfect great and then also to the other day will meet with you because ago I received a pen on my desk yeah from the daisy foundation I want to say it was a partnership with you guys what is that that is a year round initiative yeah let me tell you a little bit about that so one of the the staples of the Camden ethos is to really give back to our community and they give our employees a lot of economy to just it really say who do you want to contribute to how are we giving back and how can we make the biggest impact in each of our local communities across the country custom rom right and so what we did at the Camden grey as we rallied our our team we ask for important causes and what we do is every month we utilize our partnership with another corporate partner tie bar to select opinion a lapel pin I'm it matches the style of our hotel but the color also meets a costs and a different charity an implant three element that we can get back to all of the guys you received was our pride theme yeah which we we custom curated it with the tie bar and what we did is leading up to pride month here in Chicago we send those out they were for sale at our front desk and through our hotel receipts went to center on house died and then this summer July through the end of it basically the year we have a purple lapel pen so we're gonna send you that one over to is sort of daisies key color in purple and again for sale at the hotel their ten dollars and all proceeds will go back to daisy foundation it's just another way that we can try to open up on our platforms and our funding for daisy foundation outside of those lapel pins we also have all four of the contents here in Chicago have gastrin packages for sale in the name of daisy foundation and you'll see it right up on the website and what we do is we give back ten dollars out of that to daisy foundation per evening of any of this package is blocked so again just trying to use our platform to get to our partners as much as we can well I love that that's amazing so following everything to that happening with the backpack drive and then the leading ladies luncheon in the fall is there a social media handles the ever can follow to kind of keep up with everything that's happening it's busy year absolutely so they can follow daisy foundation and daisies actually spelled uniquely D. A. I. S. I. ease of kind of daisies with the poor without the at so D. A. I. S. I. E. foundation dot org or you can certainly follow as the Instagram Twitter link then Facebook meaning that one all the platforms and survey interconnected with all of our events in different things that we have going on for not only twenty nineteen but moving into twenty twenty to busy air delay it I love that so again to close out the interview do you mind just repeating again what the website is for donations and for anyone to get involved with a backpack drive absolutely thanks so much for asking and go find me dot com backslash canton cares back.
