"I think it's probably quite positive as a reminder that these tensions and what's going on is still very much real over a year into the war. So I actually think it was very well handled and not so much like a drama headline, but I actually do think it's quite a pertinent and impactful way of expressing it because they still competed. No one was denied the ability to compete, but there were boundaries that were drawn and attention was raised in a positive way. And another final we had, which I think was very well competed very well contested. Donna vekic versus Caroline Garcia, I thought they'd both brought very high levels of tennis to the court, big serving from both sides, but Dona vekic coming through 7 5 in the third set in Monterey against Garcia. Garcia is now from two in finals this season. Hasn't necessarily set the world alight like she did, I think, at the back end of last season, but it's still doing very well, but it's hard not to feel really happy for someone like Donna vekic, given the injuries that she's been through, you know, where she was seeing her ranking, unfortunately kind of tumble down. And then, yeah, this season, well, to be honest, since the back end of last season, it's all really changed for her with Pam shriver coming on board, Australian open, quarterfinal, and it's just great to see her get back. Well, personally, for me, get back to where she belongs. Yeah, she's, I mean, such a talented player and she's someone who has had some really incredible results, especially from a very, very young age. The first final she made was, I think it was in Uzbekistan in 2012. So this is 11 years into her career and she still, I think she's 26. So it just shows how much how much ability to and it feels like she's been around for a very long time. And some of the best matches I've seen actually have featured, I think, the match against Johanna konta. Nottingham, and then the Wimbledon match. I think it was both of those contests were kind of some of the finest examples of women's tennis and grass court tennis and I'm getting goosebumps, just thinking about specifically that Conte vetch match at Wimbledon, because yeah, that was a very, very, very good match where all competitors brought it. Yeah, and it was what a great example of women's tennis. And the match in Nottingham that preceded that where she took the title, that was another great one, but and then I think what's great about Beckett is that even when she has been going through some pretty tough times to meet she picked up a title in Italy in 2021 as well. So she's even when she's struggling, she's still able to kind of put the results together. So to have them so consistent at the start of this year, I think is great because she's someone who can really cause some damage and when you look at the game that she has and while she plays off both wings, how strong the serve could be, especially in those Wimbledon matches. She's someone who has all the attributes that you would want from a top player and it's something that this was also interesting because if one of the results earlier in the tournament forehead gone a little bit differently I mean she was not necessarily doing that well in her first round match and we talked about this with Rublev who obviously made the final she was actually a set a set down when she went through because of her retirement from sirens. So it just shows you that all some of these top players need is just that in and then they're able to do something pretty great. I would say job a question I have for you on Garcia so what's the difference this year from when she was picking up the titles last year? And I think she might argue playing better this year, but she isn't getting it done. Has everyone else put a target on her back if they raise their game or actually has she let her level drop a little bit? I think for me, there's an expectation now from what to expect from Caroline Garcia given her rise up the rankings and how well she was playing at the end of last year. So I wonder if that pressure is maybe affecting her a little bit because we've seen the two finals she has made here and in Leon I don't think she's she obviously hasn't got the victory. And I think she's she's gone in as the favorite each time. So I do wonder if there's a little bit of extra pressure that she's sort of getting new suit. I don't think it's like the wheels have come off completely. I still think she's playing a very good level of tennis and I genuinely think that final was one of the better finals we've seen so far on the WTA Tour this season. But it's just coming to those clutch moments that aren't necessarily kind of falling her way. Well, having said that Joe though, there was in this one, I thought Beckett did play very, very well. And it was almost very impressive how Garcia was able to stay with her in that third set. I think she was love 40 down on serve and got the hold. So in those moments previous I guess, if you look at Garcia from maybe two or three years ago, she wouldn't, she would have been broken, you know? She wouldn't have got the hold or have the mental resolve in those situations. So I'm glad you're not counting her out yet because Kim might be listening. I was just channeling what I genuinely when you ask me that question, I was just actually channeling what would Kim say? What would Kim say from the rooftop and Palmer? Hugo in hand, exactly. Yes. But I do think, yeah, I mean vekic is very good, I think just not being again like that Belinda bench type mentality of not getting flustered and playing under pressure and not being intimidated and maybe some of the opponents at Caroline Garcia comes up against they just don't feel they've got to do well I think to not be intimidated by that big serve aces that might just kind of fly past them. But yeah, I think it's still coming together. I just think just a few tweaks, I think that she'll need to address in her game to get her back to firing from the end of last season. Where do you think vecchio will be ranked by the end of the year if you had to say Joel? That is a good that is a very good question.

"Shrug off the balls that hit the back fence. Because they're all more than those than with a Caroline wozniacki or a Simona Halep. But you know, it's rough with the smooth, isn't it? And it's knowing one's game inside out and being pragmatic about that. And something Petra kvitova is always had in something cyber anchor is clearly having to learn. And I'm quite enjoying this character arc, this story arc for arena sub language quite compelling. Totally, yeah, she was never more compelling to me than at the Australian open last year where she got through several rounds despite having zero game. And yet she worked really hard in the last year to get back to a place where now she's got a lot of game and arena several anchor is winning matches without any fuss that is bad news, I think, for everyone else in the draw, because as you said, it's the fuss. It's the ups and downs which have sort of held her back, I think, sometimes. She was brilliant today and just imagine having point ending power in the heat that she was playing it. I mean, that must be such an advantage. I was sort of watching that match and I was watching elysee corneille and leyla Fernández at the same time. And Fernández corneille was a grueling encounter in a long rallies, neither of them have huge weapons. Fernández did actually hit quite a lot of winners, but they were long rallies, but savage was just like, well, the points over now, and I'm not I'm not messing about in this heat. One way. Yeah. Get me into the air conditioning. And I'll move on. And yeah, I think she's in a really good place. And she does have experience of going deep in slams. You know, she has been there and done it. She's not been to a final, but yeah, I think we should definitely be keeping watching and talking about Saba Blanca. She feels like a big contender here. Fernández corner corne, by the way, since you mentioned it was very good, wasn't it? It wasn't disappointing. It didn't quite develop into what I thought it could be because Fernández was so good. Yes. Yes, I think we're all there for the drama. And it wasn't actually that dramatic. It was just good and high quality. Fernández did say afterwards that she's quite good friends with cornet. So maybe we shouldn't have been expecting drama and aggravating things like she could be her protege. I don't know. Tennis in its politeness problem again, isn't it? Stop being friends everyone. Developing Fernández. Right. But yeah, it was a slow start from Fernández. She was a breakdown, but then she played a really clean controlled match and I was just a bit confused about what to expect from Fernández just from looking at her results in Auckland because she won a couple of matches there barely dropping games. And then she lost very handily to isaline bonaventure of Belgium, but I realized and I probably should have known because it was Auckland. That was a match that was moved indoors. So how much can you actually tell? And I think those conditions definitely would have suited bonaventure more. So maybe those first two matches where she was barely losing games were an indicator that actually she's playing well. She's in she's in good form and I think we'll get a real test of that because we've got another yes please round two haven't we later Fernández versus Caroline Garcia. Oh, hello. When's that? Well, it'll be in two days time, David. Caroline Garcia incidentally, we might, this is on the basis of one match against Catherine siebel, sable, who okay, you know, you can only beat the opponent in front of you, but I think we might be seeing end of season Garcia at the beginning of a season. Well, I hate to say I told you so, but. After one match. Blooming good match. Yeah, and played a couple of good matches at the united cup as well. Yeah. Nobody wants to say to you. I'm not saying anything else. Okay. Well, that was dynamic dynamic dynamic listening, Caroline Garcia, Caroline Garcia is playing well, everyone just to let you know. Conversely, I've been immigrant, her woes continue, yet another deciding set loss for her 6 one in the third against the Lisa mertens, albeit that is a tough draw. She's a tough opponent. It's the manner of the losses, isn't it? Matt, and it's the pattern. She came to press immediately. I know you had listening to the audio, that there was mostly Spanish press in there, I think, tough, tough scenes. Yeah, there is just so much baggage now with muguruza because the same thing keeps happening. She keeps being in a winning position, unable to close it out, gets herself involved in a third set. And loses it. She's lost 8 deciding sets in a row. She hasn't won one since Dubai of last year. And a lot of them have not been close. 5 of those 8 deciding sets she's lost have been 6 one, including the one today, including the one at the start of the year against andreescu and both today and against andreescu, she'd serve for the match in the second set and not been able to close it out. It's just, it's just a pattern. She's losing in exactly the same way every single time and it's so just painful to watch. And it must be doubly painful to play and she did a lot. She doesn't have the answers. It's quite it's quite compelling to watch someone with a sort of Hall of Fame career. Not be able to close out matches and it's not for the want of trying.

"Kim Chris today is the 14th of November and we are here to catch up. On the weekend tennis at tennis weekly headquarters, we have had finals, galore, at the moment, we have just had the Billie Jean King cup finals where Switzerland have been the victors. We have just got back myself and Chris, no jet lag to speak of on the on the short fight for me anyway from Glasgow back to London. We've also had the next gen finals, Brandon nakashima going undefeated throughout the event and we of course have the ATP end of season finals underway in Turin, but first of all, Kim, most importantly, we haven't even had a chance to speak about which started all long ago last Monday, the final between arena sabalenka and Caroline Garcia in Fort Worth, dare I say, is the renaissance complete. I know. Absolutely spectacular. I know we recorded literally a couple of hours before the final last week. And yeah, it's amazing that the renaissance is here. I mean, I don't know, where do we go from here now? Now that Carolyn goes renaissance two. The Australian is the renaissance. Is that Grand Slam title? Getting to world number one is the anti Murray prophecy gonna actually come true. It could do. She doesn't have many points to defend the start of next season and someone like shrimp would have a lot. So could mathematically could Garcia get to that point? I mean, Chris, what do you think? Are we sort of clutching it ridiculous straws here? Or we, do we have a point? You definitely have a point. I think after this season, it can go one of two ways, either she will go back to number 17 the world, or she will be maybe the undisputed number one, but she can do it in another tournament. Iraq and Grand Slam, renaissance two. It's pretty doable at this stage. I saw you note on our WhatsApp group, France have GB in next year's Billie Jean King cup qualifiers. So I'm not thinking about ground as I'm thinking about that tie and who Gary Caroline Garcia is going to play potentially in that tire is it going to be emirati Carney is going to be Harriet dart? Because for me, that's where the renaissance should be happening. I mean, that would be a good tie. It definitely will have a good crowd there because it's not far for the French to go. And I'd ask you, Kim, who are you going to support for that one? Oh. Well, I mean, I would support team GB because, you know, you might wear a beret. And I work bare any across all. Have some baguettes. Stereotyping at all, are we? But no, she is only the second French player to have won the WTA finals. Amelie mauresmo being the first 17 years ago, you know, she's yeah, I got the biggest title of her career, super super pleased for her. It has been a really remarkable season for her. And it's just, I hope it continues. And goes on further because yeah, just really fantastic. And yeah, I know obviously that was like at the start of the week. That was probably my highlight of the week. I have to say, but I know you guys have been busy up in Glasgow. I've been really excited getting your WhatsApp updates every day with all your fun and games from the media room. So do you have particular highlight from the last week from not just Glasgow, but I guess elsewhere on the tour as well. That is a great question. I think I'd have to go cheat the rules here and say it was pretty great when Turner's weekly got a shout out in the press room. So I think that was probably the highlight from Glasgow. I think when we talked about it. He went into meltdown almost. That was at the start of the week. And it was a little tear in my eye. I'm not going to lie. Yeah, and then I had to ask another question, so I had to regroup pretty quickly. From that moment, but that was obviously great fun. And then from the tennis week, it has to be something when I thought I was seeing sort of a case of deja vu, when I saw Belinda bencic, crouched over Jill teichmann recreating that infamous moment from Beijing in 2008 when Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka won gold. And I just thought it was just hilarious as a concept, but also how long has she been saving this up for was she saving it up in Tokyo in 2020 when they got the silver medal with Goldie bitch in that one. And she couldn't do that by herself when she won the singles gold, so clearly she's like Billie Jean King cup is my time and they knew exactly what to do. They both got the memo and I recommend you check that out because the Federer doing that was just hilarious but bench doing it a second time I think is even funnier potentially. I love that celebration. I think it's such an iconic iconic one and I remember when Federer and Stan did it at the Beijing Olympics and it was just, it was just so funny. So I'm really pleased that Switzerland brought that out of the can. I have to say. Well, I feel like what we need to see next is we need to see the trilogy completed maybe at the united cup and we have a male and a female player from Switzerland. Who would be on the floor like doing the maverick clothes and who do you think would be doing the camera pose on top? That is a tricky one, isn't it? I think that it can't be the same player as it always has to be different people. That's got to be the rule. So I think the bench will be out from that one and I'm not trying to think about who would be it from Switzerland. I can't remember who's on the team, but I would say different each time. So they can rotate it after each match win if they have them in wherever they're playing in Perth or somewhere in Australia. Well, with that, it might get a bit old, though, the more they do it, but I feel like it could be could be could become an iconic, not a dance move, but yeah, celebration move. Brian brothers bump, I think. Oh yes. I mean, we did see that actually, didn't we between who was it coco? At the end of their match, when they celebrated doubles victory, they did a little bump together, didn't they? They did indeed. So Joel, what's been your highlight of the week? Looking back over the last 7 days, I think it's been quite a lot actually, isn't there? Not just all your fun and Glasgow. Of course I would have been really thrilled to see Yelena oster penko back at Riga nails. Showing off her new nails, but also showing off an interesting hairstyle. I'm not sure if it's a permanent thing, but she's got this kind of braids look going on in her latest Instagram story, which again listers you should be checking out just for just to see if you think the braids look is a good look on Yelena hasta Panko. I mean, think back to Karolina political a few years ago when she tried out the braids look also pink I don't know if she's taken inspiration from there, but for me that was certainly an interesting yeah, interesting one from oster penko. But no, in all seriousness, what has been a highlight for me has been what I would say is kind of a really big storm in a teacup and this is the kind of ongoing Charles and tribulations of Novak Djokovic and his what he calls magic potion water bottle from the Paris masters where a video basically went viral of his physio mixing a drink and of course this just sent all of social media into meltdown about what it was was it what was it? What was being made because it looked very shady in a rucksack. You couldn't really see what was going on.

" AP's board time Josh rowntree, we start in baseball where rain postponed one of the day's biggest games between the Yankees and twins. But in Kansas City, the guardians got a second straight victory, more from correspondent Greg eklund. Shane Bieber pitched 8 strong innings and gave up only four hits in the Cleveland guardians four one win over the Kansas City Royals. Innings is the ultimate indicator of success. The longer longer you pitch, the probably probably the better you're doing. So I'd say going deep into the ball game is the most important for me. And probably the rest of the staff as well. The only run off Bieber was a solo home run by Salvador Perez, at a pitch that was outside the strike zone and the right handed Perez went to the opposite field. A two run single by José Ramírez in the third, gave the guardians the lead for good. He has driven in 108 runs this year. A big series in the AL east Baltimore got past Toronto 9 6 as the Orioles pulled to three and a half games behind the Blue Jays for the AL's final wild card spot. The Cardinals topped the nationals four one Jose Quintana allowed a run over 5 innings as St. Louis leads the NL central now by 8 and a half games. We need this wing really important to try this series and you know keep going. The race. At the U.S. open, Caroline Garcia defeated 18 year old American coco golf 6 three 6 four to reach her first Grand Slam semifinal at age 28. The 17th seeded Garcia had lost both of her two previous matches against the 12th seed goth, but stretched her winning streak to 13 matches. In the NFL, Mike Tomlin announced that Mitch trubisky will be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their season opener and Cincinnati with rookie Kenny Pickett, the top back up. "It started out, I think, a bit weirdly, it wasn't packed at the start. I was expecting there to be this incredible atmosphere for coco golf. And it was fine, but it wasn't what I was expecting. And the stadium was just a little bit flat, and I don't really have an explanation for that. And I think golf started a little bit flat. She was full of down in 17 minutes. And a lot of that, as you said, was because Garcia started so fast and just imposed herself. But goth didn't get into the match until about 20 minutes in. When Garcia's in this form, I just don't think you can afford to give her that kind of lead, really. And the second set was what impressed me most with Garcia because that was that was the moment where golf did get into some games. You know, she had love 30 and some games. She had some break points. And it was the four three game with Garcia serving. Love 30 down. She then hit a massive forehand winner up the line at the end of a long rally, an ace, another massive forehand winner which drew an error and then another ace. Just four flawless points at the moment of biggest pressure and I just thought, well, that's it. Caroline got a series of different player now and that's who she is. Certainly in this run of form. And yeah, she's going to win, and she did. It gave me ten in against Miguel Australian open. The game that I think won her that Australian open finally, it gave me those feels. That game, and you just have to go, all right, okay. Yeah. You're just winning. You just unplayable. Yeah. There's nothing anybody could have done. But I found myself thinking, well, you were saying you were waiting for it to choke, which I think all of us who've been around for a while and watched a lot of Caroline Garcia were thinking exactly the same thing. Where is the ten years of baggage here? Where is the scar tissue? She doesn't look like she has any at all right now. She looks completely fresh. And in her interview, she just seems uninhibited by anything. Nothing's bothering her and I'm waiting for something to just make her paws for a second and just kind of shake on the spot. And I'm not wishing that, I know, but I'm sort of expecting that to happen. And yet she managed to deal with it all. And I think she just looks at that particular match

"So after baritone against rude, we have on stripper against Isla Tom the anode. That is a really fascinating match, I think, on paper to watch, looking forward to that. And then the night session is Caroline Garcia against coco Goff. Yes, please. Yes, please. That is belter of a batch on paper isn't it as well. Because Garcia's arguably playing the best tournament, the best tennis in the tournament right now, but she's up against Goff, who feels like she's arrived and feels like she might even get better in the tournament. So I could imagine Garcia spoiling the party, she's playing that well. But I find it really hard to back against goth just as a competitor. She just finds a way so often. Yeah, same. That's going to be her. Everything you just said, I narrowly backed off, I think Garcia's tennis is there, but I just feel a force behind coco Goff. At the moment, but Garcia will take some beating. She's going to have to absolutely bring it. The thing is, though, that I just back off to absolutely bring it now. The only other thing with Garcia, I feel like her game is so finely tuned. She's like a Ferrari that I could imagine going wrong. You know, when it's on, it's just racing off into the distance. But what if she could have a bad day? She could have a bad day and lose two and two. She could, yeah, it's just been a very long time since she had a bad day. And I think Goff needs to serve well because the Garcia return is fearsome and the goth second serve is probably still a weakness and I could see Garcia jumping on that if Goff doesn't have a good serving day. But yeah, bring it on. And then after that, let's Nick curios against Karen hatching off, which was a very good match from the Australian open a few years ago, a century called. But I would make curios a pretty heavy favorite in that. I mean, I think councilman was playing really well. Good winning out against Corona buster.

"And we were talking last night about the Dan Evans Marin church match. And I had a little chat with Evans today about yeah, sorry about that. Quite Jim Courier. Just about he confirmed that it was just really enjoyable to be part of a match like that, even though he lost. And I think that we're seeing the purity of the sport right there that yes, it's disappointing not to win, but if you're part of something like that, that's kind of the whole point really. And I think if you are a tennis player who's focused on going to use that phrase again, process not outcome, like you would take a lot from playing a match like that, even if you didn't win. I think it's maybe hard for us, like we are fixated on results, but I don't necessarily think all players see it like that. It is very football managers saying, yeah, but the performance. When you've just lost four nil at home, formula way to huddles fields. And you just throwing things at the TV. But, you know, it doesn't mean there's not logic to it. So this opponent she's got next is Caroline Garcia. Caroline Garcia, I keep getting told to call her. I can't really get my head around that yet, but I'm trying. Thanks. Caroline Garcia, who is just playing the 20s, 17. Is it 2017 tennis? But she played to get to the WTA finals and winning back to back. Masters 1000 titles are premier mandatory to whatever they were called back then. And it doesn't show any sign of stopping. That's the thing. I mean, she's beaten Alison risk today 6 four 6 one. It was a bit of a stressful end, even though she was 6 5 one up. It was loads of break back points and all that sort of thing. And I did sort of think, oh, she doesn't hold here. I wonder whether this gets interesting. Well, she did hold. And she just is taking it to opponents in a way that I don't think I've ever seen, not even that run. There's a kind of I am coming to get you no matter what you do. Look about it. Yeah, we're all in this for Andy Murray's tweet, aren't we? If she wins the title, it was 11 years ago that Andy Murray tweeted that she was going to be world number one. More than 11 years ago. I really took me back today when I saw that was Twitter even a thing in 2011. I know Andy Murray was an early adopter of Twitter, wasn't he, but was his very first tweet about Paris because he signed up specially. I'm gonna sign up to Twitter because I need to get this out there. Yeah, goodness me, she's playing with such conviction, isn't she? She seems she looks to me like one of those players that suddenly playing on instincts and she's not got that second track in her brain analyzing everything she does and preempting everything she does and doubting it. She's just, she's just doing it. It's all, it's all digital, nothing's analog. And there's parallels with cocoa goth here because although they're at very different stages of their career, they're both poached by their fathers and have been for their whole careers, but have also both recently taken quite a big step to bring in an outsider. To the team, the name of Caroline Garcia is coach escapes me now. He's a French coach. I was feeling to some members of the Prime Video team today that rated him quite highly and the results speak for themselves, don't they? And I know that's something look with all due respect to her father. She's, you know, she's been a really good player for a long time, but I don't think this is an accident that this has happened with another voice being brought onto the team. And it's wonderful to see because well is it wonderful to see actually because she makes tennis look disgustingly easy sometimes and I resent that. So smooth, isn't it when it's when it's on like it is right now and I think that was a big win actually the head to head with Allison risk amateurs three and O in risk amateurish his favorite when you told me that I did not I would have thought that her game fitted, Garcia. That's about to tell you that risk am recharge is tricky. She is actually. I wasn't going to say that, but now you say it, you're right. She is tricky and especially tricky on grass, which is where two of those three meetings had been. But yeah, it's a big deal, I think, to beat someone who's always had your number. And this is a really sustained run of ball for Garcia. You know, this is going way back into it the early part of the summer, where she started playing well. She wants 30 of her last 34 matches and I think the big question mark was would she do it at the U.S. open, you know, we all said, yes, she's in the mix for the title, but she's also in the mix to go out in round one and I don't think she's looked up to set yeah, I don't think she's even lost more than four games in a set. She's been really dominant and I think there's excitement growing. Certainly if the Frank's journalist in our room is anything to go by, we didn't actually need to be watching the match or following the scores to know what was going on because it was all Ellie. She's won 29 matches since June. And that, in fact, that's 30 now, I think, because that was a graphic that we ran before the match today. And so that's 11 more than the person in second place for match wins in June, which owes some amount of halip on 19. I think there are a couple of others on 19 as well. Often with stats like that, if there's a lot of people clustered around the same number, I think, you know, that is such a gap, you know, and numbers like that always make me think about Andy Roddick's words about form, what are they David exactly? Came over experience. He would take that. Fascinating. I mean, the head to head between these two is two zero in favor of gough, both of them in the last year, one in Indian Wells, one in Doha, the one Indy ones footballs was close. But I just think Garcia is playing a different novel of tennis to what she was playing in both of those two. I honestly, I feel you could pretty much flip a coin in terms of trying to work out who's going to win that match. That's how close it feels to me. Yeah, I wonder whether the stadium, the crowd will be determining factor. Because it's going to be loud. In golf's favor. Although Caroline Garcia has won a fed cup, now Billie Jean King Cup final in Australia. Isn't she? I know she didn't perform brilliantly in singles, but she won the decisive doubles Robert, didn't she? In a cauldron like atmosphere, you know? Something. Naomi Brody mentioned doubles and the fact that she's played grandson finals in doubles. There's a reason why it may help her go the distance here because she used to that slightly unusual atmosphere. I mean, if you've never been around the last few days of a Grand Slam, it gets very quiet in the corridors.

"I mean, she gave it a good go, but it didn't really, it didn't really work out for her and I think there is that there is that trepidation, I feel that it takes so much, doesn't it? It takes so much. And I think Kim. She's had the perfect send off. She's had the perfect send off. It's been epic. It's been epic and it's been everything she could have wanted a more, I hope. But there is a part of me that does sort of want to see her on a tennis court again just so we don't have to just talk about Andy Murray and his retirement video at the Australian open. Everyone thinking that was the end and then him coming back. It actually we would have another example of Serena Williams having the glowing tribute when she walks out. And then it's like a haggle. 6 months later, oh yeah, she's down under. The USTA have gone so big. It makes me think, maybe they did. You must evolve now, right? Yeah, yeah, you're evolving away. And we are going to the 3000th sort of percent of send offs. I mean, it's been mega, all the people who've been working on the content. I must think, well, they can't do this again. They've hired new staff to get some of these Serena videos out. I mean, just before we move on to all the other matches from round three, my last question is going to be around Serena and Margaret court, the Margaret court record, 24 Grand Slam singles titles, what if this is kind of Serena's goodbye to goodbye to tennis? What do you, what do you feel about Serena Williams in relation to that record? The fact that she hasn't achieved it. You know, she's been honest and said, you know, at moments she, I think has wanted it too much and she's thought about it too much and perhaps that has got in the way of her performances, particularly when she has been so close, which has been on a number of occasions. Do you think that her legacy will be defined by that or do you think that's just, it's hard to compare the two because, you know, that was, yes, it was some of it was in the open era, some of it wasn't, whereas this is a lot more, well, a 100% in the open era when it's been a lot more competitive, professional only. I think that the actual the record with Margaret court has been something that's really hindered Serena's ability to match Margaret court. And some of that media focus. And I think that the crowd, we aren't making those comparisons. That's definitely something that the media has really hyped up. And she did want it. She obviously wanted that record. And that's why I think her tennis career has extended beyond the maternity leave potentially. I think I don't think it matters. I think when you think about Steffi Graf, for example, a lot of what I've seen online and in the process that she won 22 majors over a 16 year period and her last major, she reached the final. So she really bowed out when she was on top and everyone has different careers and Serena's obviously had a very long career. I mean, I think it's 25 years. She's been on the tour. And if you look at the success people have and the period they have the successor and then we're looking at different sort of success metrics anyway. So I don't think it does matter. I don't think it will tarnish her legacy because everyone is different and everyone's story is different. And Serena and Venus story coming from Compton as complete outsiders in terms of the tennis world and the way that they've changed the game. I think her legacy and that area speaks so much to everyone in a way that Margaret court's could never. It's just a number. And I think for Serena, she's touched so many people's lives inspired so many people across the board from women to men, to tennis players, to athletes everywhere. So for me, I think our legacy is far beyond a number. And I think that's the way that lots of people see it from the fact that she inspired so many of us. Yeah, I think that's a great point to end on. And let's move on because there was there were other things we could talk about this all day all day. Believe it or not, there were other techniques didn't see them. In that night session, we had Daniel Medvedev come through against whoo in straight sets to set up a match that I think we all kind of earmarked on paper when the draw came out against Nick curios in round four. We also had Caroline Garcia take out Bianca andreescu to meet somewhat surprisingly in a relatively comfortable fashion 6 three 6 two I mean, Garcia is looking great. She's not dropped a set yet. Maybe the Andy Murray prophecy is gonna come true Chris because that's what I was thinking. 11 match winning streak, she has got all the momentum, all the confidence in the world at the moment, and yeah, to take out andreescu in 6 three 6 two, I was very, very impressed with that result. It's so impressive and I think she seems so much more relaxed. She's just hitting the ball, the renaissance is here. She's mixing it up as well. This is Kim is in Kim is on holiday in Kent somewhere. But I'm sure she is echoing echoing Chris's thoughts on the race. I'll try and speak above of Kim that this is Garcia's year, but there's no pressure on her in case she does get to the final. But now I think it's fantastic and I think Kim said the other day that how amazing it's been with this kind of going through in straight sets to the second week of a Grand Slam. So that's the first time she's done that in straight sets for them. I think it's been amazing and I was going to ask the question how important has been doubles been to her return to form.

"For like through like the first kind of like if I'm picking I'm picking out. It's serving. How do you feel about how it? I mean, she's clearly positioned herself to be as one of the top top contenders and she can certainly when this title Wimbledon sent me final winning in Canada and yeah, I think she has to, I think there's another step she'd have to go to to get there. It's playing, you know, attacking the type of technology played when she won. Wimbledon. And especially in these conditions, as I said earlier, fast conditions. This is not been a great term for her historically. It's been okay. I've both been losing. Yeah, but she's made a good result here. That's why she can't play. Yeah, it's really, yeah. Did you make the finals for all the other ones? And it made only one semi here. She lost the Panetta and kind of a shocker. All right, so elsewhere in the Beatrice has had my eyes want to break out players of the year. So the number 15 seed very much improved. She opened together on a Kanye with fancy here. Andreescu second round in a fun one potentially. Or harmony tan, Caroline Garcia, who's the winner of Cincinnati, and that's to see her break back through for a third 1000 title. Look forward to seeing her standing by the service line to crush her second soil. Exactly. She was very much on in that term. It was cool to see her coming through qualifying so you can come through qualifying to show that it can be done. Maria soccer is the three seat in this section here showing Tatiana Maria who beat her at Wimbledon. I think this is a good section for how to Maya, I guess. Or Garcia, or maybe soccer Y, you know? I mentioned Alison risk amateur. She's the other student here too. I don't know. I think they're all going to lose to personally. Your thoughts? I'm just staring at and dress to Bianca and waiting for something to happen, you know? We've been talking about the whole year and it still hasn't happened. It's been a great sear back. But it's been like, I thought there will be a little bit better. It's actually a big run. She hasn't had the big run yet. I think it's there. And she still has the charisma and the moxie and stuff, but like the wind tune in there. So we would like some wins here, Bianca. And how to buy is a good kind of confidence you can get it. The bottom half, the bottom quarter of the jaw. We'll start with algebra, hope it's a good medicine brengle. It's kind of a fun match. If you like, slow hitting. Which I do. To winter that could play Elizabeth mandlik, who's the daughter of Hanuman mental coworker. In the second round, who are in the U.S. wild card for her performance on clay here on hard course here, rather. Shelby Rogers is the 31 seed in the section as well. And I like the strawberry sugar. I think it's a good draw for shepherd. Who has nothing in her best hard course, but it should be good and I like her to get through to play one of the Russians either could have a computer muchova or kathaka in the fourth round. And that's a pretty open draw shape for both those Russians. Although criminal television movies players see it's been very good at the tour level events and not do much to slams. It has a great record again. I believe. So up again, sorry, Trevor. So, oh, yeah. And she beat dripper on earlier than the hardcore scene. In San Jose. Yeah. So, but yeah, it's been a weird call, not weird, just not right, it's great hardcore swing vlogger and also she kind of obviously missed those trend open. So it's kind of been an almost natural surface specialist. This year, in 2000 and I think this is a good draw. Good opportunity. And I think she's one of the players who has broken through in the past few years who has carried a ranking world. So I think I'd be interested to see if she can kind of just continue them Wimbledon momentum. I don't know that we've talked about when we talked about it, 'cause I can on the show since she had her coming out more officially in this video interview that came out during Wimbledon or after Wimbledon. Where, after Wimbledon, where she spoke about having her girlfriend and her homophobia faces in Russia, it's the president in Russia. Anyway, she's won two grand me today, right? I believe. The diary of one grand real. Right? Yeah. Yeah. Since you played various others. Oh, I didn't know. I thought I'm finding a lot of attention grand be honest. So good for them. And so she and Samsung have actually both won two tournaments on this U.S. on a CS North American hardcourt swing. So good for the Russians on there, sort of post band reawakening tour. Yeah, okay, so that's your burr. And now let's get to the main story of this term at finally. And Samsung is in the section two in the bottom 8th of the draw. But let's just finally talk about Serena. I mean, I guess we should say later Fernández. That little brother. Yeah, let's go. Okay, let's say we got to pick up the basics. Sorry, Layla. And create Chicago and trevisan. And evgeny rodina, who's still playing. I've not played years in this draw. Incredible. Shock of the draw is that in it, honestly. Yeah, Serena Williams is here. We made it. We did a podcast when she announced the retirement. I will say, I

"It just was a peak week, and you didn't see it coming, and it was really hard to stop when she got going. I just think with Petra kvitova whenever she does, well, frankly, anything. It's just worth repeating her story and just, you know, how she suffered severe tendon injury when she suffered that knife attack. And it was not likely at all that she would even play again. Let alone play at this level again. So I suppose for that reason, I always get a bit of a kick out of seeing her do well still, you know, and to think of the height she's hit post that attack. Really have been pretty extraordinary when you consider what she went through, but probably probably she gives me less confidence than Caroline Garcia. And even though she is the Grand Slam champion out of the two of them, she's the one who's gone deep in the slam. To me, this felt more like a bit of a what she's done over the last few years, just a great week hitting 30 winners in every match and she's brilliant. To me, it feels like there's been a change in Garcia, and that's why I think sort of out of the two of them. I'm kind of more excited about Garcia's chances in New York. By a bit of contrast, I wanted to talk about Jessica pegula, who ended up losing in the semi finals. Because I feel a, an incredibly difficult draw aside. I feel incredibly confident in her reaching. At the very least, the fourth round, you know, probably quarterfinals of her living up to her seeding. But I'm not sure she's in my mix. She's a she hasn't won a title since she won that Washington title in 20 19. And there has to be a reason for that. I'm so impressed. I'm so impressed with what she's done. And I'm so often impressed with her on the court, the match against emirati Carney last week was brilliant she beat her in two straight sets, but it was so intense and competitive and she brought the best out of her corner. I think it was a great week for emirati carne, who will come on to, but yeah, I feel so contrastingly about Jessica pegula to how I feel about Caroline Garcia, which is, you know, if I put her in my quarterfinals, I really feel like she won't let me down. But I'm not sure she's in the mix. Discuss well, I would have picked bagula to win the title after watching that ratana match. Which was a good match. I thought raducan who played pretty well and she just couldn't quite handle the relentlessness of the pace of shot coming away. And then to find out the next matches were too late for me to watch live, so I was going up and catching up on them, but I was often finding out the results before I saw them to find out that she then lost in straight sets to Caroline Garcia was a surprise to me. And then when you watch it, you kind of get it. There is a gears thing maybe there that she's, maybe it's a bit cam nori like, you know, this woman is going to deliver for you. She's going to bring it. She's going to play really well, but does she have that extra gear that sends her all the way? Dunno. Matt? I agree. I think that's a really good. I think that's a really good assessment. And actually it matches up with her game, doesn't it? You know, she's got a reliable game. But as you said, when it counts in the really big matches, there are players who have got who have got more gears and can just take it that little bit further. But I agree. I think if she gets a good draw, no reason why she can't reach the quarterfinals. I mean, I should say she has had some very tough quarter final draws. It slabs. You know, she kept running in to Barty and trion tech and if she is manages to be on a different side of the draw that maybe I think there will be a section in the draw that breaks wide open and she could kind of walk right through it. But if there's someone left in the drawer who is kind of a top tenor in that late stage, I wouldn't necessarily back pergola to be beating her, but as you said, I'm confident she's going to have she's going to have a good U.S. open and I mean she's the U.S. number one, isn't she going in going into the U.S. open? I mean, that's amazing. Couple more players that had a great week in Cincinnati that I wanted to touch upon one I've already mentioned emirati Carney. She and the mix to defend her title? I can tell you both hate that question. Well, the thing is, I would say no in as much as it would genuinely surprise me if she won the U.S. open. But she's already won it, so I believe she's, so I know she can do it. I'd be surprised where we are right now, so I would say no, she's not. But then if she went and did it, it wouldn't be the same surprise that I would have with other players that I wouldn't include in the mix. That doesn't help. So categories of surprise. She's not in my mix. I would be very surprised if she won the U.S. open. I think she's, again, draw dependent here. I think she could have a good title defense. I do. I think she's, she's playing pretty well. She likes the ball. She's not she likes the balls. And as we've established, lots of the main contenders really don't. And whether they're overreacting or not, the fact that it's clearly in their heads that much. Not good, is it? Isn't good for them? No, not at all. So yeah, I think she's going to have a good title defense. She's not in my mix. Matt. Agreed. I would be surprised given everything we've seen this year if she manages to defend her title. Yes, I would be surprised. She can't be in the mix, but I agree. I think she can win a few rounds. She's playing, she's playing much better than she has been. I think, at any point this year, really. Final name for you. Madison keys. She likes the bulls. Open final. Loves the balls, had a great Cincinnati. Beat the Wimbledon champion, BT gish von tech. Reach the semis. Is she in the mix? I'm saying no. Because historically, there's too much evidence. And not enough Reese and evidence to override the history. Yeah, this was in keeping with what Madison keys does. You know, she's one Cincinnati before. Oh, that was the that was the year when she wore those brilliant trainers. Yes. Do you remember? With a bit of leopard leopard print. Didn't you buy them? I don't know. I tried to buy them and was unable, so I bought a shoddy replica. You're absolutely right, Matt. This isn't new for Madison keys. She's done this before. Yeah. Okay, sold on not putting Madison keys. In the mix in the doubles in Cincinnati, Rajeev ram and Joe Salisbury won their third masters 1000 title as a team. They beat Tim putz and Michael Venus 7 6 7 6 in the finals Tim wet incident is one of my favorite doubles individuals to watch. Big fan of it. He's very he's got a lot of flair. Yeah, he is good to watch. He was in the Davis Cup finals a lot last year. And I remember thinking something similar, you know, your eyes drawn to what he's just able to do on a doubles court. And I end up watching him thinking, why can't he play singles if he's this good? There is a totally different force, isn't it? The doubles was won by lyudmila kitchen och and Yelena oster penko. U.S. open mix, anyone? No. Okay. They won their biggest title together as a pairing. They defeated Nicole millico Martinez and Ellen Perez in the final, that back to back finals, isn't it for melaka Martinez and Alan Perez, they lost out to pagola and Goff last week, the match that sent coco Goff to doubles number one. Kitchen knock on osteen's second title of the season, they are number two in el race. Cook a golf incident is going to play the U.S. open as the doubles number one and that is brilliant. This week there are tournaments are happening.

"In Umar. And Emma radar economy teams up with Dmitry Tesla for her next coaching trial. Keep to date is the 1st of August. We are here to catch up on the week in tennis at tennis weekly headquarters. We've had another batch of tour debates on the ATP at WTA Tour's Yannick center coming through yet again against Carlos in umac. We have Emma raddy Carney as well teaming up with turnoff on a trial basis and of course Kim, your favorite Caroline Garcia upsetting eager field tech world number one in her in her home country in her home tournament enriched her 9th singles title. So you must be pretty happy about that. Can I just say without wanting to sound too smog? But I did sort of predict this happening, didn't I? When she won Roland Garros doubles, I said this would be the start of something. Here we go. And here we go. I'm banning the word renaissance for the rest of the episode. That's so mean. I can't say the R word. Oh, okay. There is a virtual renaissance swear jar going on for this episode. Any anything out of your imaginary tennis weekly salary is going straight into the jar. Okay, fair enough. I'll have to get my thesaurus out and look for other words other than that word. Her resurgence. That's another R word. They all begin with ours. So yes, but it was very uplifting to see her win. And I think we'll get on to this later, but she's now got three titles on each of the surfaces. So she's a very good balanced all rounder, which is nice from a statistical point of view. But yeah, lots to talk about as per. I mean, should we start with let's start with the WTA tournaments Joel because as we've just been alluding to, Caroline Garcia is back to winning ways again. With this sort of new event in Warsaw, two 50 event, which I believe you said eager spontex dad basically funded and put on. Yeah. It was an odd one. I mean, it was an odd one when it came out because it's just a clay tournament in July. And it, to me, feels very, very odd, having been familiar, I think, with the ATP and the WTA schedules. For me, I'm always a bit suspect about clay tournaments that are going in into really late July when the hardcore swing in the United States is just around the corner. And for me, this tournament was, it was rolled out for eager sponte. I think she's a world number one, great to kind of promote tennis in her home country in Poland in Warsaw and her dad has a big role in this tournament and it felt very much was compelled to play it on that emotional level on the fam, given the family links, but I've got to be honest, Kim. I don't think she had absolutely any right to be playing this tournament. A two 50 world number one, I think she actually admitted that she had been playing on the hard courts practicing on the hard courts before the tournament. So why go and try and disrupt your training block, your training pattern, getting ready for the bigger tournaments coming up in the United States, but obviously with the U.S. open in mind, it felt although it felt like I understand it from the family emotional point of view, I think from a training point of view, I was very surprised that she on tech decided to play this. Yeah, I liked how you sort of referred to it before we started recording as a it should have been a shrink victory parade. I think maybe in her mind, it was almost like this is kind of an exhibition. I'm just playing in front of my home fans as the world number one. The bottom half of that jaw probably would have felt like a little bit of an exhibition. Well, yeah, it wasn't the strongest field. I don't think anyone's going to argue too much about that. But fair dos to Caroline Garcia, she came through that match against Fiona in the quarterfinals, which arguably that was kind of the final, I suppose. Given gassy as recent form, I think she did look always like the most likely player perhaps to come out of that top half apart aside from. You know, it was three setters, 6 four in the third Garcia coming through, and regardless of where Garcia's like form is at a compared to where she has previously been, which is world number four winning premiere titles on the tour. Like getting a win over a world number one, even if the world number one isn't perhaps completely invested in this tournament or playing her sort of most committed tennis, it's weird. It's a great win. You always want to get a win over the world number one. So I think that gave her confidence going through because semis and final. She won pretty comfortably in straight sets, both of those matches. So I think very pleased the way she kind of made her way through the draw and it's a two 50, but it's certainly a hell of a lot better than where she was, a few months ago. Her ranking was right down at 79 in the world, which said Lois ranking in the last 8 years, and so since that point, you know, since that kind of nadir, come and write back up where she needs to be, gradually. Yeah, because it's funny because I think even a few seasons ago pre COVID. She was really struggling, I think, on the tour. Even just to get kind of consecutive match wins together and it felt remember it was all that it was all linked back to that Andy Murray tweet when he was like, yo, watch this, watch this girl on the tour. Caroline Garcia, she's going to be amazing. And then she sort of became a little bit of a joke or the butt of the joke in terms of I can't believe what Andy Murray said about Caroline Garcia because she wasn't just was not in a good place. She wasn't playing that well and it's amazing to think how much she has progressed and come back over this season and we saw a bit of a glimpse of that for British fans at Wimbledon when she defeated Emma radda kannu, but she's really kind of kicked on since there and this was a really impressive run to the final from her.

"Titles that she's picking up does it make you revise your assessment of her potential because we know her potential, we've always known her potential. But she's now at a stage where the baggage is built up, we know who Caroline Garcia is, right? And we've known she's absolutely capable of winning titles. That's not news. So does it mean anything different for the remainder of Caroline gosse's career? Might mean something for the remainder of her summer. That's about as far as I'd go, and that is that this level of tennis would hurt anybody. I suppose I don't know how repeatable it is because that depends on her. She's not really being a consistent player over the years. But she did have a couple of months spell in that year when she reached the WTA finals and she won those two big tournaments in Asia back to back where she produced this kind of tennis. So and she's done it for a couple of months now. So yeah, I think it might not be the end of her winning this summer. For instance. The thing is her tennis can be just dreamy, but you absolutely don't ever want to have your credibility resting on a Caroline Garcia prediction. That has been changed for me. I've been stung as recently as the French Open. I know I lost points on her and I haven't forgiven it yet. So it's definitely Garcia's fault, but David. Absolutely. I think I would agree. I think she can keep this going a little bit longer. She's very dangerous this summer because she's also very good on all surfaces. She's got this interesting breakdown of her titles now in her career. She's won three on Howard caught three on clay three on grass. So I do think of her as someone who sort of should be able to carry it on the entire season. She just never really, really has. She was also serving brilliantly. She's the ace leader now this year on the WTA Tour. Which obviously isn't adjusted for a number of matches played, but just which really annoys me. Yeah, I know it. That's why I brought it out. Thank you, Matt. The stat I want stats compilers out there. The stat that should be made available is percentage chance of hitting an ace on any given first serve. Thus, so aces divided adjusted for number of matches and a number of serves hit. That is what I would like tennis universe, please say keyed. You can pop that just above introducing video replays for double bounces. We are seeing that the behind that and the priority list. We're seeing the odd drop shot statistic these days, aren't we? I want to see more of those. But I actually, that is the statistic Katherine like that. And it should be very achievable. Universe. In Prague, staying with the women's tool for a moment, Marie biscuit, another player that's sort of keeping a role going. One the title there obviously made her big breakthrough at Wimbledon. Where she beat Caroline Garcia where she beat Caroline Garcia just a few weeks ago, beat Anastasia possa pover to win her first WTA title, these do feel like significant breakthroughs for Marie Bizkit now, I think. Yes, I think so. Her first title her fourth final it was. She played three previously and they'd all gone the distance. She'd played well in all of them, but wasn't quite able to close. I remember watching her just lose to Sloane Stephens this year in Mexico, just a really good player who is on the rise, as you said. And speaking of stats, did you see the stat sheet for this final? It was provocative and eccentric in an interesting way. As you said, she didn't hit a single winner. Oh, this is a very Madison brengle energy. She managed to win the match without hitting a single winner, kept her unforced errors down. She was extremely consistent play the solid match and basically just let pot of over miss Potter up to 44 unforced errors and just two quick sets. Literally. Literally that. Yeah, really amusing. And then I have to say, credit to pots up over. She then recovered and went and won the doubles title. Got all the mistakes out of her system. Is that typical buzz covered? Do you think? Or is she adapted that strategy for Potter pover? I think that's an adaptation. Yeah, I mean, she's not one of the big crushing winners. She's not zero. She's not Madison brengle. No. No. She's smart, though. I feel like Madison Bengal has had an unfairly hard time in this portion of the podcast. I think she would sort of hold ahead of hire. I think so too. I think she takes it as a badge of honor, and I certainly that's how it's intended, Madison. So Marie boos and Caroline Garcia champions and the WTA this week on the ATP side of things kitsch bill was not one by Dominic team, folks. We thought that Dominic team might have been having a crisis. Well, now we know he's having a crisis. He has one catch Bill. Roberto Bautista a good one kit feel he beat somebody that hold my hands up here. I hadn't heard of before this week. I'm having a very Tim van right, haven moment here. He beat Philip Miller, no missile, missile, in the final. Who is Austrian? I would say. Yeah. He had a great run. And I think he had to finish his semifinal on the same day as the final and look like he just hit the wall a bit against Batista, and he won pretty comfortably. I think that's his Drago's first title, clay, in about 8 years or something. He's really become such a good hardcore player. And Wimbledon semifinals, yeah, it's funny, I just don't think of him as a clay culture at all really Bautista. It's a good title for him in kitchen. Oh my really interesting week, interesting final Yannick sinner beating Carlos alcaraz, lost the first set on the tiebreak and then dished out a double breadstick so one at 6 7 6 one 6 one, which is a weird score sheet. There was a period at the end of the first started the second where they both play looks like they're both playing their best at the same time and you think, oh my goodness, this could be one for the ages. Two youngsters, this could be one that we're digging out archive footage of in 15 years time when they're playing their 8th Grand Slam finally against one another. And then alcaraz kind of drastically dropped off a cliff. I think in sinner took advantage of opportunities, but didn't need to drastically raise his game in order to take total control of that match.

"One of my favorite stats Kim that I was relate to kind of song it is that he is only one of three players to have Grand Slam wins against each of the big four alongside Thomas Erdoğan and Stan Wawrinka. And I think that just shows, I think that the caliber of player that he was in his prime. Yeah, absolute quality, and not every player can say that, can they that they defeated, you know, one of the big four, eat all of the big four at a Grand Slam. Just a shame that he wasn't able to, I guess, do it. You know, consecutive matches to go all the way because obviously generally speaking, over the course of his career, he would have had to probably beaten at least one of the big four to win the slam, but yeah, definitely he's like one of the cohort of players alongside Richard Gasquet, for example, you know, always there or thereabouts at certain times of their career, coming close, but pretty much coming up against the big four at some point. And not able to come through. I mean, talking about Gasquet, he's recently been playing pretty nifty, beat Medvedev, didn't he? The other week, but he came through against Lloyd Harris in straight set. So that was nice, nice to see for the French crowd. And they also had Ali's corne thrashing misaki joy today. She only dropped two games. And Caroline Garcia. I was waiting for a win. 22 minutes in and only now you've brought up Caroline Garcia, but I was surprised she actually won that. I thought, Taylor Townsend, I know, Taylor Townsend is coming back from having given birth. She's a mom now, which is fantastic. But I was fully expecting Caroline Garcia to have a meltdown or something on court with all the home pressure, but I guess she's probably able to play with less pressure because no one really expects anything of her these days. So I was glad that she was able to come through that. I mean, talking about Medvedev, he won through very easily today as well. He's looking to, I guess, equal at least his quarter final run from last year. You know, he's starting to hopefully, I get to look a bit more comfortable in court after coming back from his surgery. He's got laz Luger in the next round. One seed, though, that is out today's Dennis shepherd allof out in straight sets to hold Arun. Was this, I mean, did you see this coming, Joe, because I don't feel like this is a massive surprise. But maybe the fact that it was straight sets is the most surprising thing, perhaps. Yeah, yeah, definitely. I think, you know, again in our predictions pods, we sort of had chapeau valor upset alert and yeah, holger rune is in a really good groove at the moment. He did well last week. Not as well as cam norrie. But he still is a very, very dangerous player. And the fact that he's unseated, he is going to be one of he's one of the most dangerous players I think in the draw in the sense, if you're a seed, you do not want to be playing whole grain and Shapovalov, who, you know, is not had a particularly great last few months, particularly on the clay. Yeah, it's not been great for him. You know, he's got rid of Jamie Delgado as his coach. So that obviously wasn't working out. So it feels like he's maybe in a little bit of a transition. And he's going to need to transition fast because he's coming up to the grass court season. I think he will feel like he can do better there. I was going to say Kim, he's got big ranking points to defend at Wimbledon, but we obviously know that's probably not going to be the case. So maybe the pressure is off a little bit. Well, he's going to lose his points anyway. So it doesn't really matter what he does because he's going to lose however many anyway. I think Shapovalov is now working with Peter Polanski, so I guess now retired Canadian players. So new partnership, teething, going on, I'm sure he will settle in with this one, but yeah, I think rune's been playing a really good form. You know, one Munich recently, he's got a 11.6 on clay this season. So I think he was just getting everything back and chape valor of I think was having a bit of issue with the wind and everything. So just it didn't look with it. I think right from the word goes. So it's a shame, not unexpected, but I guess the highest men see that's full and I would say. Yeah, so far. We didn't really have any shocks on the women's side today. I thought maybe push covert, you know, she's not been in great form. She came through in three sets. But yeah, Daniel Collins coming through. Yelena oster penko coming through against bronzetti one and four. She came, I loved in her in her post match press conference. There was already talk of the potential eager shield tech rematch because osteen is the last player to have beaten she on tech and she did not hold back. She was like, if that match happens, I know how to beat her, I am coming for her, and I know what to do in order to kind of upset the sphere in tech parade at the moment. So it was interesting to hear, I think, the confidence, I think that oster penko has with the moment we saw a long way to go, and I feel like with oster Panko, you can't really, you know, you still got to take it one match at the time, particularly with someone like Simona Halep potentially in your weight as well. But yeah, Madison keys also threw it was, yeah, it was pretty pretty straightforward for the women..
