NCGOP alleges corruption on Charlotte City Council, files ethics complaints
"Has filed ethics complaints against two City Council members. Dimple as Mira and James Smudgy Mitchell. And before we get everybody's reaction to this, Fox, 46 Charlotte's Rochelle are Metzger set it up pretty nicely, but I wanted to clear the Air. Charlotte City Councilman James Mitchell says he wants to clear the air about an ethics complaint filed by State Republicans, accusing the Democrat of using taxpayer money to visit Detroit sports facilities in November 2018 is the first time ever That that has been a test of my name and is truly follows. Mitchell says It was strictly an economic development trip to talk about a potential dome stadium for the Carolina Panthers and future facilities for Charlotte FC. But the complaint says Mitchell's former company stood to benefit from the trip. Bart Moloch was the stadium expert. I spent time with elected, efficient and instead of Detroit, Thomas Entertainment District. That was that true was about it, And so there was no way he benefited from politically no benefit from financially. That was me doing my work this chair of economic development commit. In a separate complaint, the state GOP accuses Democratic Councilwoman dimple as Meera of receiving campaign donations in exchange for a yes vote when re zoning issues came before the council in a statement. As Meera says, in part, these are active and traditional donors. Too many candidates. Most importantly, My vote can't be bought, and I have never received the endorsement of the prominent developer organizations. This is purely a racist, sexist and political attack, as Meera says the complaint is an attempt by Republicans to deflect attention away from concerns surrounding Republican Councilman Tark Bakari, whose company was given $1.5 million of city money for an advanced technology jobs program. That money has since been taken away to which dark Macari took to Twitter last night. And in a Siri's of tweets defended himself, he said, Among other things, if Councilwoman Dimple s marriage does not publicly retract this libelous statement and refrain from repeating this action in the future. I will be forced to take swift legal action. The Democrats took a cheap shot at the ethics of Tart Muk are very cheap shot the attorneys for the city Have basically cleared him of any wrongdoing. In fact, documents and videos of a previous meeting from weeks before showed that the Democratic Council members knew everything from committee meetings and even Complemented tart macari on his work. You wonder what the political rationale was when they all of a sudden voted. I think 9 to 1 to cancel a contract with dark, which he abstained from voting, by the way, which is by what the rules are now the GOP, I think, fired back and said, if you're going to take shots against AH, Republican, one of only two Republicans in the county. You might be living in a glass house. Well, Bret

COVID-19 relief bill negotiations fall apart as lawmakers remain divided
"Congressional leaders, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi met with the trump administration today for what we think was an eleventh round of face-to-face negotiations on another covid relief package for Americans who are out of work or otherwise up against it in the seventh full blown month of this pandemic Democrats offered to knock about a trillion dollars off of their relief bill, which should otherwise been pegged at three point four, trillion, the White House apparently said no to that offer. Many. The deadlines to replenish or extend the relief programs that Congress has passed in the past. Those have already come and gone deadline to continue paying the extra six hundred bucks and unemployment benefits that tens of millions of Americans have been relying on since they've been out of work that deadline came and went July thirty first. The deadline to extend the ban on people across the country that passed on July twenty fourth now as many as twelve million people or risk of losing their homes if they don't get help. Technically the paycheck protection program the Federal Loan Program to try to keep small businesses afloat. Technically, that program is still alive that program doesn't expire until tomorrow, but it does matter tomorrow. With all these federal leaf relief programs either collapsing on the verge of collapsing the trump administration is saying no to the Democrats compromise offer they've been making vague noises about the president trying to do some of these things by executive order the president talked about that tonight at his golf club in Bedminster but then quickly pivoted to spending the next half an hour remarks basically holding a very small campaign rally. Left unsaid at all was how he intends to muster the authority to try to do any of this single handedly since it's congress, not the president. That holds the power of the purse tick tock though in terms of how much Americans need relief right now, there's no end to this pandemic insight. The reason these things are expiring is because when they initially past people thought this would be over by now. It's nowhere near over Americans are suffering just as much as they were when these things were passed in the first place. How's this going to resolve? Joining us now is the Great James Clyburn South Carolina Congressman Chair of the House Select Committee Oversees Virus Relief Funds Congressman Clyburn. It's really nice to see you here. Tonight it's been too long since you've been here on the show I really appreciate you making time to be here. Thank you very much. Can you just give us your overview perspective on what you think is going to happen whether you think that these programs that so many Americans have been counting on will get extended what kind of lapse that will be looking at between those programs initially expiring and them getting re upped when ultimately some deal hopefully, it's worked out. I think we. WORKED OUT WE'LL be the tremendous amid of the week. Weekend. We will have. Some politicians tomorrow I think we're getting close to something happening. That will be beneficial to everybody. When the president talks about doing some of these things by executive order, I feel like I'm going back to my school house rock it's just I'm just a bill kind of basics about how the different branches of government work I mean the one thing the president doesn't have is the power of the purse when he says that he can do some of these things just by signing. An executive order when we're talking about, you know sending money to people weren't talking about an unemployment benefits boost when we're talking about changes around taxes that he's talking about, it doesn't seem to me that he has the power to do any of that as as president. But yet, the White House seems to think that that's a that's another way to get at the relief that's needed. The purchasing is saying that there is no congress, the acid deal with no people the he has to listen to He says these things up think as always throwing something up on the wall to see if it was. I think he knows better than this. The general owners that he issues have gone to court time and time again and they've been thrown back into his face as appointed time. I think he's get the message from the Courts as well. But keep working and we'll come to some agreement I. Wish that Mr McConnell or in the room so that we can get the legislative bodies together but he seems to have. Turned over to the White House, but we'll get something. You you sound confidence and that. Is booming to me because I feel like you're pretty clear eyed observer about what is capable what what Capitol Hill is capable of doing just ask what you would say to Americans right now who are really scared about not just the health aspects of this but the economic aspects of this I mean so many people that I know just in my personal life with their small business owners or whether they are employees of public or private entities. people are worried about whether or not the the economic. Blow that's been dealt to individual families into our country. Right now is something that we're going to recover from in the long run. How do you? How do you see that and? How do you think the government has done in terms of trying to fix some of these these wounds? People are worried and. Something, I'm worried. He got a really a pandemic, but then a pandemic here. When you really look at it they got a big healthcare crisis. They got an economic crisis, and as we focused on trying to do something about the economic crisis, the fact of the matter which are not yet it saw without solving this healthcare crisis. So it's a double whammy here. We have to try to operate knowing full well that you cannot operate within the silo here

Emily Gorcenski - Making Nazis cry
"People might not know who you are, which would be an awful shame because you one of the coolest people ever. Would you introduce yourself. Sure My Name's Emily Sanski. I am. Anything say work as a data scientist. But also activist and as many who? Studies on tracks modern white supremacy in hate movements. Technologist hockey player. All sorts of things. So I don't know what is what does it mean to be something where somebody? Wow, that's big. That's big from the from the very beginning. I think one of the things that when I was reading about you. A lot of places at set that you're a person who is known for making that cease cry. What does that stem from? That is true so As a little bit of background I'm from Charlottesville Virginia. or at least I spent. Ten years living there. And of course, Charlottesville was the site of the infamous neo-nazi rally in two thousand, seventeen where. A terror attack happened in the TIKI torches and all of that stuff right so sort of. Stuff that we've seen all around the world. And one of the Neo Nazis that was there marching at the rally was a man by the name of Christopher Cantwell and during Tiki Torch Rally, he pepper sprayed me. Along with several other people. And? End You know he was also at the time filming a documentary with Vice News And so what happened was after the rally in the? Vice and HBO. Race to put out this documentary about what had happened they had some very dramatic footage and. Christine was featured very prominently in in all of this and talking about. How he wanted to kill more people and you know showing off his guns and all of these things. Well, the thing is I knew who can't was and I knew that he pepper sprayed me because he posted a picture of himself pepper spraying me as his facebook header the next morning. So I went to the police and made the decision to rest charges against him. and. When he found out that there is a warrant for his arrest. This was shortly after the vice documentary came out with all of his bravado in his you know McKee's mount all of that. So this. News of this warrant comes out and he records himself in a hotel room somewhere in North Carolina or somewhere. Crying. On on this like stream because he's worried that he's got this this warrant for his arrest. And so this sort of very poor. Poorly intentioned little video that he produced. Of himself like sobbing, not quite sobbing but definitely sniffling. Earned him the nickname of decrying Nazi. So he became in within the span of just a few days he went from being this. You Know Big Bold Neo Nazi to this reduced hulk of a man. Who is crying because he you know got caught doing violence. And so that became a sort of a worldwide mean. And this happened because I was one of two people to press charges against him so. I've earned the reputation for making Nazis crappy, and since then I've also made several other Nazis cry for various reasons. And so I guess that is just now the reputation that I have. It's it's funny. You should say he was caught. Doing like very much promoted himself doing the line. You know it baffles the mind. This was such a bizarre sequence of events right because you know here he is somebody that went on camera and talked about how he wanted to be more violent. He was trying to be more violent. You know all of this stuff. and. Then when he acted violently, he bragged about it, you know Oh look at all the you know he calls everyone communists, of course, but all the commies that I guessed. And then he gets caught doing it and then he's like, oh no, there's consequences for my actions. Any cries. But it didn't end there right because. Sensible people when facing forty years in prison as he was. Would Shut their mouths but he did not know he started he continued recording his podcast from jail. And then when he was let out on bail. Despite having literally admitted to pepper spraying me. He then sued me and my co defendant or CO complaining rather in Federal Court. So there is a federal lawsuit against me. For claiming that he pepper sprayed me. Of courses lawsuit eventually went away. It was fine. But it I mean the tied up year life and as a result of this and as a result of his. Many. Attempts to to silence and intimidate me and I actually had to leave Charlotte. So I had to leave the country. In fact, I now live in Germany And so you know the sort of. End of the story or the maybe it's not the end. But the chapter that the story is now on is that Chris can't will plate pleaded guilty to. Two counts of assault. He was let out of jail. So he didn't get the forty years in prison. You got you know basically. Slept on the rest and sent back to his home but he was banned from the state of Virginia for for five years. Well, he didn't make it five years because now he's sitting in a New Hampshire. Jail. Awaiting federal charges where he is now facing thirty two years in prison for extorting. In violently threatening. Another fellow nutmegger.

"Buy political favors in exchange for your principles. The bill is always more than you thought it would be. We're joined now by two highly experienced political journalists who could surely deliver the best jokes on this program about the trump weather map but have agreed to temporarily leave that to the late night comedians while they concentrate on the issues issues. The president seems to be trying to us from john holliman's with us. He's a national affairs analyst for n._b._c. news and m._s._n._b._c. he has co host and executive producer of showtime's the circus and he's one of the a truly great writers who has fixed his focus on politics and are the better for it joins us. He is the politics editor of the daily beast and he he is an m._s._n._b._c. Political analyst continues to deliver some of the most important reporting of the trump era about what the trump administration is actually doing ninety <music> levers of power in government vami not saying i mean you're the one who goes inside the government in these stories that few us of find the space to cover and tell us what what they're really up to so. Let let's start with you on this question of. He wants us to talk about the hurricane map because what's the thing he doesn't want us talking about. Is it the money for the military money. I don't buy the premise i okay i. I think you know earlier. When i was covering trump i probably would have bought the premise the three dimensional chess and i certainly do you that the military the diversion military funds to the wall is an embarrassing story if anything anything a complete absence of his campaign for the entire republican party yeah because they they allowed this to get through with the transference funds but i've come through observation and reporting that trump is just sort of clinically incapable of moving on from these things into him. There's no greater slight than being perceived as is being completely out of touch with reality and so he's now gone through almost a dozen tweets a proclamation statements written upon maps to prove that he was right about about alabama and what's particularly bizarre about this and why. I think that this is a very bad story from in its own right. He's doing all while our country is still dealing with turkey and it's not like the hurricane has passed north carolina's about getting it right now so it would be one thing if we gone through this. There was no damage but he's literally distracted by proving that alabama was in the crosshairs as north carolina is dealing with this. I meant to include this in the premise. I cling to the to the possibility that it's both yeah yeah. There's an obsessive and he has obsessive behavior all the time but he's also aware he's looking at those maps segments and going well. They're not talking about the the kids schools that i'm not funding well. I think this is the right answer and i will say not obsessive pathological as the word you're looking for. His pathology is a pathological liar. The pathology apology however is triggered by various bad news on other fronts so the pathophysiology gets up intensive when he looks around and sees what all the domestic political fraud he looks at polling where he's getting beaten like a gong in every swing state by not just joe biden but by many of the doubt further down the scale will democrats he looks across the ocean. He sees fred boris johnson getting beaten about the face and neck every day telling us how smart boris johnson and then and then he looks at the economy on me where we have news just this today this the survey that these certified accountants financial industry executives who are more pessimistic about the look for the economy than they have been in three years and you've got data coming out that suggests that we have a looming recession so economic news political news foreign news all bad stories for donald trump and it amps up the instinct for pathological lines. "Guessed if you haven't guessed it. You'll get the answer after this break grew up back. This is the second prison trump apparently wants us to be discussing his abuse of weather maps. He must want us to talk about it because he kept tweeting about it today. The president is personally keeping this story alive the story of him using a defaced weather map to try to prove that hurricane dorian could have reached alabama. Why is he doing this. Why does he so obviously want us to talk about this this story it's a bad story for donald trump but it does seem like it might be one of those deliberate trump diversions because the story we turn to now is much much worse for donald trump and worse in the view of trump voters and that is the new information. We have tonight about the money. Donald trump is diverting -verting from the defense department budget to pay for the wall. He promised his voters mexico would pay for. I will have mexico pay for that wall mark. My words mexico will pay for more believe me and and who's who's gonna pay for the wall mexico hundred hundred percent. How is the next rally going going to feel about. Chanting the pentagon will pay for the wall or we will pay for the wall or school. Children of military personnel will pay for the wall. This is a much worse story for donald trump than a fake line on a weather map. The defense department's diverting three point six billion dollars away from one hundred twenty seven military construction projects projects in twenty. Three states are being funded to pay for the wall nine of those construction projects are for building or renovating schools calls for the children of u._s. Military personnel utah a state with two republican senators is losing fifty four billion dollars in military funding that will be sent to the wall arizona senator martha mcsally who has supported the president's emergency declaration that he is using to justify the diversion of military funds uh-huh is now watching an army base in her state lose thirty million dollars to pay for the wall and that's after the secretary area defense had personally assured her that arizona wouldn't lose any money former astronaut mark kelly running as a democrat for the senate in arizona. There are so many life life threatening things that happened in the aftermath of the storm that they are not out of the crisis yet and this is a test of our compassionate empathy right now and i'm hoping that folks are finding the right places to go to contribute to this effort because we here in the state of new jersey believe it or not have still people who are recovering their lives after the devastating loss and again lawrence i appreciate you on so many levels but pointing out the resiliency that people of wealth waffen have but low income families poor families it could be tragically tragically devastating to their lives and the impact can be lasting an traumatic and lasts for years no listen i know people who in the aftermath of hurricane simply pulled up and went to a hotel a distant hotel and and i also know people who lost their homes had nowhere to go and after sandy i didn't get through jersey but i was up in staten island which was absolutely devastated and i i. You're not surprising me by saying there. There are people in areas housing situations that have not recovered have not been made whole since sandy. What is the what is the government's responsibility in the aftermath of one of these storms. I think this is these are moments. Where we you have to understand. It is all hands on deck that word responsibility has everyone has to take responsibility and lawrence. You and i live in the new york new jersey area. We have seen from nine eleven to hurricane sandy. Where is the best of humanity. Come forward where people were there for their neighbors. They were there air for their community. They never stopped working and i know first responders and the aftermath my team was going days with very little to no sleep leap whatsoever but i tell you what we set up a hub in newark to receive resources and we're getting truckloads of food and water from states around around us people sending their emergency crews here doing sort of joint rescues.

So we pre position fuel. A lot of resources that came in from the state early on <hes> were pre-position into higher ground closer to the city <hes> obviously we have been going through these hurricane drills a couple of times a year so our our teams down here first responders emergency operations officials always always learn something different about every storm and <hes> we learned a lot from florence and we pre position assets closer into the city does time than we did last damn <hes>. If this thing does come ashore there will be ready to to help the folks in the sentences on in our community. What do you want to tell the people of wilmington who have of <hes>. What do you want to tell them tonight about what they can expect in terms of being able to return well listen to what the emergency operation folks folks say <hes> you know gives us some time to get our crews into the streets and clean up the debris would make sure that they're already down power lines not livewires wires or somebody doesn't get hurt educated <hes> and let us get those things out of the way getting them cleared up before you move back into town. We'll give you the the all oh cleared to get back and you'll be listening to the state and to the federal officials as well as local officials on before you make that track back into town and we also want to make certain yeah we do have any roadways that are <hes> flooded. We we want the citizens to be aware of them because we we lost several people last year where people try to transverse oh rosa were covered and could make it and unfortunately.

I'm just putting this episode out on Friday morning, November the ninth to let everybody know about some exciting changes that are coming to the South Carolina for wrestling report. So at the beginning of two thousand eighteen my goal was to just give wrestling fans in the region, a central location where they could keep up with promotions, primarily in South Carolina, where they could see results where they could here about the future, and the story lines and also have a calendar of upcoming shows. What's happened over the last ten plus months almost twelve months is there has just been such an interest in what's going on. And and I keep getting asked what about this promotion? What about this promotion? And so mcq cited to announce today that we are expanding and so moving forward this is going to be called the Carolinas Georgia wrestling spotlight now already. There are in the state of Georgia a tremendous there's tremendous coverage of the Georgia promotions. And as you've heard me say many times per promotions. Like, you got Georgia North Carolina that have dozens and dozens of wrestling promotions. And in the middle. You got South Carolina. That's you know, doesn't have does have as many because of the the Athletic Commission and the Georgia wrestling history website, does they have so many great riders? So many great correspondence they have great coverage of of really all the promotions, not just in Georgia. But also some Alabama lot in Tennessee. And there's a lot of crossover there. And so what I just want to do today is. Let you know how you can be involved in some is going to go through in. These are these are the promotions that we are working with a lot of these promotions. Most of these promotions, we're working with through SOS custom wrestling network. And so you got there just so many partnerships, and that's really man to me. That's what I mean. Hurricane Hugo striking just north of Charleston with one hundred forty mile per hour. Sustained winds Hugo had already created calamity in the Caribbean, and it continued in South Carolina more than twenty. People were killed in the palmetto state the hurricane, which continued down to North Carolina as a category. Two storm caused billions of dollars of damage in the Carolinas where people were stunned by what they saw. It was little rocky, civic dogs, respect defied. When was this house built ninety? Two other category for hurricanes have hit the Carolinas recorded weather history. Hurricane Hazel struck the north and South Carolina border area sixty four years ago in nineteen fifty four more than four hundred people were killed in Haiti before it hit the US coast, at least nineteen people were killed in the Carolinas five years later. Another category for hurricane Gracie hits southern South Carolina, that storm killed at least ten people in South Carolina and Georgia. The last major hurricane of any type to hit the Carolinas was in nineteen Ninety-six category, three France. The winds, which peaked at one hundred twenty miles per hour, made landfall near Cape fear, North Carolina, twenty two people were killed in the US thirteen of them in North Carolina. Damage in the Carolinas was estimated to be over fifty billion dollars. It's very rare for major hurricanes to hit the Carolinas. Those people on the coast that is a particularly vulnerable coastline. So we're going to be taking people through what the latest is on the trajectory, what they can prepare for, how they're doing it and what they can't prepare for. You'll remember during Irma we've hooked up with these federal first responders from south Florida. They just got the call and this is pretty early Anderson. They're headed to South Carolina. So we're bringing on one of the guys that we were with down there to tell us why they're going what they're looking for. And you know what our future will probably be in terms of the need to cover this. Yeah. And I mean, just in terms of the size of his and the slow speed of it, if it comes makes landfall Thursday night. I was talking to Tom Sater earlier this thing could you know through the weekend could be affecting people still in that area? That is the exact right point. People get such, I focus, you know, like one does the real big deal come. They don't understand that the outer bat bands and those that combined it with the I are often the most destructive.
