"There's big as these cans registry. These guys and I when I, when I listened to him talk. Doc in they ask them, what's your biggest concern like they always do. He was brutally honest, and I'm glad he was. He said, look, my biggest concern is this this happened so quickly that no one had time to prepare any goes. I fear that a lot of you're stuck. Now he goes, you can forget about leaving. Now it is that is it Batten down the hatches and good luck. To hear him say my biggest fear is that it's too late because people weren't. They didn't know enough in advance of how strong this was going to be, which is true. I mean, look, I was watching last night even if I'm living there at that point last as of last night. I'm like, maybe I guess this is going to be strong. Yeah, I don't know if I leave and also having now been there numerous times to Panama City. They don't have the type of dunes that North Carolina's. So some of the destruction, a lot of our destruction was was wind. In rain. Look, we obviously had the flooding, but we did have some dunes in rocks to protect our area. So the flooding at least on the beaches, not not the riverside, but on the beaches, we had a little bit more protection, whereas Panama City does not have that. They do not get this type of shit. And they said the morning when I was watching it. This'll be if this hits it a four which is expected potentially five this afternoon. And by the time this airs tonight it'll be tomorrow. It'll have already landed in and we'll know at that point we're recording on Wednesday for tomorrow show. It'll be the big storm since eighteen fifty one and they don't have that type of protection on the beach whatsoever. They don't have got sandbags. They don't have any of that stuff on standby because they don't get shit like this. It doesn't go. Yeah, it doesn't go to eighteen fifty one and Carolina beach is kind of the same way, right? Like it always beers off sort of. With this. It doesn't really come that far into the Florida panhandle. Mostly like the the water temperature and stuff like it's super warm there. It's just you don't. You don't really get hurricanes there ever and everybody out there because I've seen a few people on Twitter and things like that, who are like global warming and this is what's happening. It's global warming. Fuck off with that. Do I believe in global warming? Yes. Do I believe it's as severe as people are saying? No. Clearly if there was a storm, this big in eighteen fifty one which was it's just cyclical years ago. That's it. So it is possible. It's not like this just crept out of nowhere. Like if it happened in eighteen fifty one, it's happened before on earth. So you can take your global warming and backing out of the Paris climate treaty and stuff it up your ass like storms like this have happened. It's just super rare and there's no controlling it. Do I feel like we're living in a simulated world when I see shit like this. Perhaps. Perhaps I do Westworld type thing. Like what. On must Rogan words subway. I can't. You know what? I'm sure maybe. Yeah, forty. Eight hours to prepare..

"Another one gave another one. Another hurricane. That's two men. That's too that you've had to deal with two, two different houses while one in sandy, and now. We came home from your cabin in the woods, your best life, Dallas living my best life. Right, right. What's a flu in michi- in Asheville, you let me stay at the cabin, which was nice and you. The hype is real. It was nice. How was the couch. I know and I had two extra bedrooms and I thought just don't mess him up. You know what I mean? I said, Wani park it on the couch. Yes, you can come. You know, you've been through a lot. We both have, but I wanna say like, I feel like I haven't. I haven't been through a hurricane still like I really out your I wasn't here. I mean, I left before it happened came back when things were starting to get back to normal. I will say this everything standing minimal damage you, you should do that to be honest with you. Right? So you look, you look at the the beach house, what that is right now? Yeah, that is that. Is your I posted a picture on Instagram, Facebook, usually I don't. I don't post too many personal things like regarding this. Usually it's out or having fun, or you know, Instagram shits? Yeah. This one I posted where it's like simply for this, this fact of, hey, this shit is dangerous. If this comes to you or at you. Go, but obviously wait a couple of days. See if it's coming to you. Right? Because a lot of times you don't wanna get vacuum it and then you're kinda stuck somewhere like wait the proper amount of time if it is coming to you definitely get out of there because you don't know what's going to happen with this. I wasn't expecting that much damage when we went down to the island to look at the house. It's strange in this, this, this happened and the other hurricanes well where some houses completely untouched by nothing happened. Others completely nuked my hours and you know, I it's still livable, get rip out the carpets. And then obviously, insurance is gonna step in at some point and do whatever the fuck they're gonna do the rest of it. But yeah, man, it sucks. Does suck. We were to two in two different states. I could see if I was living in the same place and there's just kept happening over and over again. It was like one really learn right. When will that guy learn? Well, it happens at these places. Like what is it every sixty years or whatever you just happened to get. You went back with the both the places that hasn't happened in sixty years. Then you got that sixty at sixty first year. So I talked to a neighborhood stayed, and they said that the winds entered a reaching one thirty down there. Share a quarter of the peer is gone. There's a go fund me for that for the Carolina beach, pier. They're trying to about three hundred dollars, three hundred thousand dollars, right? Excuse me. Where damage done and minim-. That's our peer. That's that's our love. You can go to go fund me and and find the Carolina beach pier and get that fixed. Just donate some money. That'd be RAD. As far as our house goes and everything else, like insurance will cover that to a certain extent, and we'll rebuild like posted today. We'll get drunk tonight. Get up and rebuild tomorrow in it is what it is, but I just can't. I'm astonished at to hit two different states, New Jersey and North Carolina. Yeah, both of the same things storm of the century in that region where it's like cool because going back through it. What was it friend was they said here twenty years. Ago or something. Yeah, but like the last one that actually like hit and did major damage was something like sixty years ago in Wilmington. It always goes around. It kind of kicks out around Wilmington, but to hit here, it was fifty or sixty years. But the neighbor said that the I had come through. Yeah, and that he said we were lucky because of that. So he said, if it was because I think you're looking at footage from up north in new Bern, right? Yes..

"Like a little bit of stress. Let's go. Okay, my God, and it was like the people that I was talking to like, oh, the peers gone, it is. It is absolute chaos and you're just like, all right, but like it wasn't like that was. One where it's like somebody told me the pier was gone when it wasn't that right. There was just like, why the fuck? Why tell me that? And then who told you that wanna have an explanation for? So one of the peers did get nuked hours. Okay. And again, fake news, they they had written. They had written the wrong peer down. Okay. So when I when I saw it later, I understood why that person had said that. Okay. I was like, all right, because I was looking at the news article where it said Carolina beach, pier. But it was like no Carolina beach pier down. Like not that one. Okay. Okay. Another Carolina beats like congratulations beach in North Carolina. Okay. And it was just like, oh yeah, yeah. So things like that where you don't have proper reporting and there there were not because everybody back, you waited. Fucking news. Wise wise, everyone is there were not because they're vacuum added the things that I found the most helpful during all of this. And again, we're high up in the woods in Asheville, North Carolina, black mountain, actually, North Carolina, beautiful day, sunny seventy. Eight. Couldn't be nicer up here, but that was another thing where they said, oh, it's coming there. We're going to be flooded. Yes, yes, yes, you're going up there. No, this is beautiful. Right? And even when it was raining a little bit, I think that was part of it too. I went down to the grocery store and like the checker, the checkout girl. I don't have power. There's trees down everywhere and you're just like, but I don't know. So I I didn't see where everyone was being drama about even here. So it's just kinda like where where is this? And I found out so I, I went to Twitter there was and God bless whoever took these videos because this was the real shit that the new should have done. So to take the place at the beach, somebody had just stuck their iphone on the front windshield of their car and driven the length of the beach road. So you could see all of the houses on both sides what was going on what was damaged and what wasn't nice. And that gave me a little bit of. Yeah, greats I feel kind of like we might get through this. Okay. I still don't know because we were not allowed back there. Yeah, we're not there yet, but from this guy's video that was taken the day after there was a lot of flooding, and there was some damage done, but nothing that you couldn't get through. There wasn't houses across the street all this other stuff. But again, we don't know that peer that we were talking about there is a quarter of it gone right now. Is it more? I don't. I don't know. I'll see when I get there. I'm not going to speculate and save half the peers going. I don't know. I can see that the first quarter is, but I'm not very yet. When we get there and are able to assess the damage, we'll do another show about it. But I think for the most part s- everyone was smarts in regardless of what I thought the news coverage was. And I thought it was shitty and fucking over dramatized and they were all trying to get ratings cluding the fucking Weather Channel, which was a shocker that guy getting blown over in the those two kids walking through in the background. Nothing was happening. For as much as that was. It probably saved a lot of lives. That's, I guess that's yeah, line one positive I take out of that is eight. Shit out of people lean. I would never like. And because like I said, because I've never been through it, I wouldn't have left because I'm like, we get these hurricane warnings all the time. What are you guys talking about? So had it not been that drama? I wouldn't left..

"We saw down trees. We're not seeing flooding hours. My Zach location, certainly planning at the area beaches, and some of those speeches I called home. I lived in Carolina beach through a hurricane Matthew lost half of a roof. Moved a little bit further inland on the river. At now, we know that there's going to be river. And we're really is a big concern along with the deluge of freshwater that we're going to receive from from rainfall as I'm sure you guys anybody who's been following. This is gonna be roughly in Wilmington North Carolina a little over two feet with isolated areas of forty inches of rain. I wanna talk to you a little bit more about that. Eric again, if you're just joining us, we're talking to Erik meddler. He is a radio host on double Q one. Oh, one in Wilmington, North Carolina. All right. So the winds coming ashore whipping things up I mean, you gusts upwards of ninety miles per hour. We hear of this life threatening storm surge that's coming. You're talking about the rain that is projected today through tomorrow, potentially even into Sunday. What are you bracing for next? Like, what's the message that you're telling your audience that are tuning in very captivated right now. The biggest concern for supper. We're telling everybody is if you're inside stay where you're at make sure you don't put emergency responders lives at risk because you made a bad decision. We're also talking about Schroen coverage in this day of a social media, please. Like all of my videos times, don't go outside with a drone, and you're going to get in the way of life saving missions. That are coming in from the from. Airborne rescues that we imagine are going to be necessary in the wake of this storm. We do know that first responders will not be going out until tropical storm winds decreased to levels that are safer those rescue workers to go out. So you don't have rescue workers that are out there right now. We have them here. And they're ready to go. But we can't put their lives at risk in order to you know. So we need a rescue worker who is going to be saving so many. It's in trouble. They're going out in in safe conditions, certainly if they feel that it's reasonable and prudent certainly are..

"Carolina department transportation says and we've had search and rescue crews out through the evening through the night overnight. Rescuing people we've heard hundreds of people being taken from their homes up there in in the new Bern area. Yeah, I'm just looking at a map here. New Bern is a little way inland. It's nowhere near the beach. But you're saying that water was pushed up a river. And it's by a river there. And that's that's why the flooding is taken plenty exact as a couple. Rivers there in the news rivers, the one, that's flooded. And it's from the Pimlico sound and as the rotation of the storm just starting yesterday started pushing the that wall of water head of it. And that's and they started seeing that early, and, you know, a lot of people, but some people didn't. And they're the ones who are calling now. And we're hearing calls on on the media people in their addicts. You know, talking about waiting for for rescue crews are out there trying to do that is the electricity holding up. Now, we've lost our power here. At least where I am at the hotel in Wilmington. We know there's hundreds of thousands of people of power out here. I would say that. It's just climbed dramatic, CLYDE. If you've lost power in Wilmington. Then you've lost a lot more people. So we're we're over three hundred thousand I would think at this point just in North Carolina alone. Oh, you're saying that Wilmington is the central area the place where power is gonna stay. If it's gonna stay anywhere. So in rural areas, it must be really bad at this point. Right. Exactly. I think so. So how many people did stay in their homes as far as you can tell well. We spent some time in Carolina beach the other day, and it was a ghost town. You know, everything some whole sections of town were just boarded up, and no one was around. But you did find people there. So, you know, it's a very the vast majority of people left, but you're always going to have some some people who believe that they have the supplies. They have the wherewithal to stay and you hear time, and again, people say, well, my home is never flooded. "Through our area is what what it looks like. Now is it's gotten so close kind of clear where the path is coming. It's coming onshore near Wilmington moving very slowly. Now, it's going to be over us for most of the day. And then it's expected to start moving south down the coast toward South Carolina, the Myrtle Beach area, and you know, as you mentioned there's covering bring all that rain and that storm surges, well, we've already had flood warnings issued for inland communities in the Cape. Fear river basin because everyone's going to be crusty. A few days. How people are already getting warnings up there by tomorrow, it's going to be turning inland and going north. We have a risk of flooding not just in the Carolinas. But the Tennessee Kentucky West Virginia and north through the weekend. And then in the next week. So it's it's to be bad. We've got hundreds of thousands of people without power already in North Carolina. And that number is just going up. I mean, it is it has been slow, right? That's part of why people thought that this was going to be so dangerous because it was going to hover over places at the same time. Because of that slow speed it's given a lot of advance warning for people to get out and to to board up their homes any indications that all that notice will end up reducing the amount of damage. Right. Well, people taking it very seriously the warnings been going out for all week long. The vast majority in the mandatory evacuation areas did leave we visited people down in Carolina beach and talk to people who who decided to remain though, because they thought they had food and water and would be okay. They weren't worried about flooding, but up new Bern, you know, we've got people being rescued from that from there. So that that can happen. Elsewhere as we go through the through the day here today, we will be following it all NPR's, Greg Allen in Wilmington, North Carolina. The path of the storm.

"Hurricane Florence isn't expected to make a Fisher landfall for at least another eight hours. But the coastline of the Carolinas has already feeling the effects of the category, two storm with rain and sustained hundred mile per hour winds for look at what's happening in the ground. We have NBC news reporters all along the coast NBC news correspondent Gotti Schwartz in Beaufort, North Carolina, Gotti. Chris, it is treacherous out here and as bad as it looks right here we've actually move okay. Sion's of using building kind of a win block. So right over there where you see the light hitting it is extremely windy. There we're talking about wind gusts well above what we're seeing early, which is about sixty seventy miles an hour. This is an area that is starting to see the tide rise. Again. We're going to get a high tide at eleven o'clock with that tide rises. We're also expecting to see a very a tremendous storm surge that could be catastrophic to some of these areas. For is just just across the bay there. And they've already started to see flooding some of their streets. We know the stored searches come up surrounded some houses and actually worked its way through the stilts and is encroaching on some of those houses. So tonight's, unfortunately, the power has been cutting more has been lost your radio island where we are now looks like cross obey. We don't see any lights over pretty. We're not powers. But you can situation is getting critical out here. These kids are not gonna Lau. I was punters to go out and save anybody. So at this point that is all about down wherever you can find safety, and this is what we're going to see sweep through the door and South Carolina, the next few hours, Chris. All right. Got shorts. Safe out there. Thank you joined now by NBC news, Kerry Sanders in Carolina beach, North Carolina near where the hurricane is expected to make landfall tomorrow morning, Kerry what's it look like there. Well, right now it's not as bad as Godley has it, but it's still beginning to pick it up. You know, it's going to be around four in the morning here. We really start feeling the really heavy winds, but because this hurricane is moving, so slowly it's going to be from four AM to ten AM as.

"Came ashore, and then quickly moved up to the north and the northeast as the projection show, but looks as though it will make that course, much slower than had been intitiated. So I guess there are there are some things you can do you can you can move things out of the way you can get out of dodge. You can do all of that. But there's really very little. I mean the water's coming. And and I mean that kind of intense water is going to have is going to have all kinds of affects. Yeah idea the wind is one thing. But the the water the flooding is. The thing that you just can't do much about. I think the sandbagging of doors is sort of a psychological. For people. It makes them feel a little bit better about they're doing something. Anyway, even putting boards plywood across the windows should protect those windows from some damage, but in the long run the wind is going to whip those off to the right there. There's just nothing you can do about about the water that comes in. So do we have a lot of people left in Wilmington? I know they had a mandatory evacuation, but some people are staying, right? A few not many. And I've seen a few people walking on the street this morning folks with their dogs. Lot of those folks do you have to assume are staying in some of the high rise hotels that have decided to stay open for the few people remaining in town and for their own employees to that. So the folks especially at on Wilmington beach or Carolina beach, those barrier islands have decided to board up their homes and then move into one of the hotels that are decided to stay open. So I am wondering Jim, I know there are there are lots of hugs even from Kentucky who are going down to to try to offer assistance. I would imagine you have lots of lots of media people. But even more even more responders who are ready at at some point to move in. And and and help folks. Yeah. You don't see a lot of the responders right here in Wilmington, for example, right in the point of landfall. I think a lot of them have staged just outside the storm zone, and that's a good idea because they don't want be become flood victims. L cell. Sure, they'll stage just outside. And then when the storm has passed and it safe they'll move in and begin their work search and rescue operations and recovery efforts restoring electrcity more than a million people are expected to lose their power during the storm. Well,.

"Problem, we keep hearing this expression storm of generation why why do people say that? I think there are many reasons for that first and foremost, we don't get cat three cat four storms aiming at the Carolinas all that often. So that's the first thing. But also we're looking at very heavy rainfall from so yes, it's going to be a wind event. Yes. It's going to be a surge event. But also looking at the potential for upwards of thirty inches of rainfall coming down here on top of an area that cannot handle it, which then could then really reshape this this coast. The surge will do that. Because when it comes inland. We're talking about the potential for thirteen to fifteen foot storm surge when that floods over this entire area. It won't look the same once it recedes back into the ocean. So we're essentially looking at a major situation, but now for a longer distance at the coastline because it's just gonna sit there, and it's going to sit and spin, and that's gonna just bring those conditions all the way down to the South Carolina areas. Well, you'll be with us here. We're looking forward to that. Megan. Thank you very much. We're gonna talk more about that search now, especially here in North Carolina where it's expected to be so bad, David begged, though is in Carolina beach. When we arrived on Carolina beach. But we feel we have just as good a chance here as we wouldn't town by town. She means Wilmington, which is thirteen miles away across the snows cut bridge. That will be shut down. Once wins reached forty five miles per hour that will essentially leave people like Dolly cut off. They're talking about potentially a thirteen feet. Storm surge. I do that's surge is predicted to hit Carolina beach before during an after Florence makes landfall battering and inundating low-lying homes with water storm surge occurs. When the force of hurricane winds, push ocean water ashore, it's why Hanover county Commissioner Woody white is very worried as you know, most loss of life and threats are from the search. Back here on Carolina beach, the evacuation order goes into effect at eight pm. Listen, it's a crime here in North Carolina to not follow an evacuation order. But I asked the county executive a short time ago the county Commissioner are you going to enforce the law, and he said, no, we're not that's where miss Dolly lifts. She hasn't changed her mind. She still inside. In fact, Jeff, I talked to her neighbor. And I said are you going to stay said? Yeah, I am. He said if it gets bad enough, I'll just get my boat. A lot of people in this area are deciding to stay. And in some cases, David people just feel like they can't leave. We we're from that man earlier.
Hurricane Florence intensifies to Category 4 as evacuations begin in Carolinas, Virginia
"Hurricane Florence taking aim, but the southeast US Carolina's the probable landing point for this big category. Four storm moving closer and getting bigger meteorologists. Kaley heart-lung reports from Carolina beach one of a number of areas under evacuations in North Carolina under mandatory evacuation like I said starting with those barrier islands. Eight counties in South Carolina, the entire coastline and then a focus on those low lying coastal areas in Virginia. Now, more than a million people expected to evacuate meteorologist Chad Myers. Looking closer at exactly where Florence is expected to come in. We're looking at the storm still making some impact at North Carolina. I don't wanna say Charleston that you're out of it. But you're close there's maybe a ten percent chance of it going that far to the left as we would call it where North Carolina anywhere from Wilmington right on up to Cape Hatteras. That is the bulls eye

"And all of this shit's. It says the shelves are still stacked with titles ranging from citizen Kane to as new as quiet place. So fuck. That's I don't know how they got the right, right from the studio, but. Wouldn't they give him the right? It's so hard. I was at. Our son two weeks ago to they do this movies on the lake thing at Carolina beach. You and it's awesome, and it's just it's free outdoors. It's on the lake gorgeous. They play music beforehand. Kids can dance and play and all that stuff. And at the end of the night, they give you these raffle tickets and you can win the DVD of the movie or watching somebody in the crowd. The head to go on making announcement the last one that just said, hey, and it was it was a surfing movie. And they said, hey, we're actually not doing a raffle. Tonight's the studio did not give us the rates for the DVD. They said, we could screen it, but we could not physically give the movie away, nor would they send us a copy. And I was like, motherfucker. First of all there is nobody's watching DVD's anymore. Stop it. Stop it to it was a surfing documentary. Let's not treat this is if we're on Shawshank Redemption. Yeah, like you're giving away like, oh buyers, Sumer worried about this being pirated, but that's what studios do. And it's it's a fuck oil. And a lot of people hit me up all this. I probably say I get on average five, ten messages about screening, my movies and public places per week. Mike catalog is probably ten or eleven. I've. Produced and written and directed and all that shit. And I tell everybody the same thing every single time. You're welcome to look right into camera. You're welcome to screen it for free anywhere. You live any theater. I don't care about the profits. The money. Yeah. Oh, that you can keep it. Have your friends over screen it anywhere you want. You do not have to ask permission for rights. I'm not going to ask you for a dime for whatever you're doing. I make these movies for people to enjoy and I would never fuck anybody over. I don't. I don't care. Only thing we don't have is like, I guess we probably have a couple range fifteen, but we don't have the DVD's. But you can buy. Yeah. And that one. That's another question I get all the time is like, hey, man, can you sign a DVD or can you sign books and send them? I would love to the studio gives you one. Yeah, you get you get one DVD. So all these movies I've done in my entire life starting from the new guy on up to you don't own the right. We have to buy them the same as you if we're going to send you a copy. So you send it to us definite bath, and then I'll like, I'll put it this way. The last movie we did drink and rose live eagle tour. No DVD's or extinct. So there wasn't even a DVD for them. You can only just it's all digital that look, that's, that's going the way of everything now, but there's not even a DVD that exists of that in the public for sale or that I can even sign and send, you can't say with books. So your publisher sends you one copy one. That's it. And then they want you to buy copies from them if you sign them and give them out and all this other shit, like it's a fucking racket where you're just like, hey, man, I I'm not sitting on a mountain of books to sign giveaway where or anything else. Like they also don't give you promotional material like posters because everybody has to sign posters and stuff all the time we don't get, they don't. They don't send them to us. So it's Hollywood's bunch of Dicks just to be honest with that, blockbuster stories, very, I know. I love it. I love it and that's designed for me that kind of nostalgia, stop it. And and that'll bring us to the rebel. Figure of the day. This is going out to David Cook and Wayne is Inga, who are the creators of blockbuster founded in October nineteenth nineteen eighty.
