"That's how it all started. You're making my job very easy. This is really exciting stuff. Yeah i wanna talk about maggie and how you guys met. And maggie's background in a second. But i guess it's interesting to hear like growing up. You have this backpack. You don't have a lot of things especially in the landscape of beauty today where it seems about like acquiring things and people's relationships to these physical things it seems like that wasn't your experience beauty growing up. They got a friend. That was a dermatologist. But do you have any other background around like why you wanted to go into aesthetic specific. Yeah big time. Well first off. I grew up loving barbie. I don't know why. I mean. I know it's so funny and ironic. I just loved barbie and say think the beauty aspect of her. You know kinda idolizing barbie for as a little girl. And then. I grew up because i had eggs. Emma so it's like this irritating rash that comes about on your skin and it's brutal like i was an athlete and i grew up with it. All over. my body is embarrassing hurt. i just didn't feel good in my own skin. So my mom. When she was sober and helpful she ended up putting goat's milk in my bath and i was like. Oh my god that just changed my skin a little bit. So i'm like. There's something to topical so like i was like wow. It really matters what you're putting on your skin and your hair so it was really kind of a natural thing and i have to do a skin routine every single day twice a day to keep my skin out of out of chaos really and so i take that as i have to do this whole ritual to put on lotion twice a day and so for me like skin care is because it's a necessity for me. It's not like a beauty thing. And so that's how i really got my start and then honestly like my mom was the and same beauty but she was a natural beauty so coming into plastic surgery. 'cause that's where i came in from. Had this really awesome like you can kind of really change something that you don't like about yourself but you also i see things that are so crazy right and i'll never forget. When i had my son i had a buffer plassey meaning like eye surgery when i was twenty three. 'cause i really have island. And when he came out he had my old is and i was like i really regretted doing it and it was like it was heavier than like the topical part of it and my happy when i look in the mirror. Yeah but there's like this thing. That happened where i was like. That was kinda wrong to do you know so if you come to my clinic you know you're gonna look like you. I had no idea that. James taylor was a client of yours. That's even talent like that goes and gets their skin care done. Well you know his wife made him comes just so you know but i got to see him and carole king front row at the bull and my father in law was the lead singer of the diamonds. He was really famous in the fifties and sixties. So i introduced james to my father-in-law david somerville the diamonds. And so he gave us tickets front row and we got to hang out with him and so crazy.

"Must if we're in one hundred percent We stand again strong in that. And it's empowering to give that gift to one another and sometimes again when you are one hundred percent the good news is there is that reciprocity with the given the take at times you're giving sixty or the others giving forty or you're giving forty and another is giving sixty in this kind of thing but it's always give it one hundred percent. We give it as they say. Give it your best. Give it your best every day. Wake up with that. I'm gonna poke carole king. Now you gotta wake up every day with a smile on your face and show the world that you're beautiful and so when we are beautiful and our souls and our spirits in our hearts again ain't nothing people will try to stop that one hundred percent Beautiful soul and it's important to not let them don't let them win They are the quitter and perhaps they We all know people who quit quote friendships because one might have gone through loss of but just again. It's it's the scales to that just because one might have lost At one point it doesn't mean that that's forever and it doesn't take away the character or the sense of loyalty and friendship in one hundred percent that cannot be bought that cannot be faked so we walk on walk on and own it and it's a like a muscle that it's worked day one day at a time day by day and before we know at the years do go by and we transfer that to everything we do everything including driving the car or just walking down the street. It's an energy field that is ever present. And there's an inner peace there. No matter what no matter what that we're one hundred percent. There's nothing wishy washy. We know plenty of people that are wishy washy or again up to no good and only around for the quote good times or they are filled with the fear and the sense of. Oh what can i get from this. And that ain't the one hundred percent character we're talking about and here is a clip from the episode on forgiveness and if you're interested in Listening to the entire episode. Go to the archives and download maureen from quarantine on forgiveness is also the source of our english. Pardon so if we think of that even people are pardoned in the court system. And so we've out. Reservation is an interesting turn of words if we think about those words without reservation in really what that means without reservation means we're not holding on it's all about letting go all about letting go so it's that sense of how can i elect cow and forgive completely and of course. The first step is forgiving ourselves. We've all done things that we weren't necessarily proud of or that. We regret and it's very important to forgive ourselves. Beat ourselves up and we make what's called a living amends and in doing that. We carry on into the solution again. Which is what we're all about here and so without reservation in know. There's a sense of high in this one hundred percent. I forgive myself one hundred percent and then we were able to forgive ourselves. We are better equipped because we know what that feels like to forgive others. So you can find that episode. In the archives maureen from quarantine under forgiveness and go in listen to the entire episode one hundred per cent. And just why to make it easier for you to find. The episode was dropped into the podcast in april of two thousand twenty. So go ahead through the archives sand. Drop it on into your wherever it is you. Listen to your podcasts. And enjoy lean quaranteed serving the universe. If you're listening to this podcast you got a one hundred percent so stay their own it. Let's remind one another and we gravitate because like minded individuals find like minded individuals and we learn from one another or sometimes again those other forces do try to come come into that space that sacred space and this is the place where we must consistently stay protected. And how do we do that. One hundred percent breathe in. Let's do it now in the moment. Please release it. This is a cleansing. We do every day to. It's like a checklist. check check. Check one hundred percent one hundred percent on my here and my here and where is the love. And that's the power and it. Is that simple. We don't need to get into mumbo jumbo start intellectualize in philosophizing an analyzing and scrutinizing driven release again. The cleansing process is a daily thing to daily daily. One day at a time sense of letting go and then that go again and bring it back to one hundred percent no matter what no matter what then and if you can slight smile remember if there's sunshine let the sunshine feel your hearts eliminate your hearts water. Listen let's get back to our senses. Are their purple flowers greenery. What color is the sky back to my senses. Today's new day. It's a new beginning. One hundred percent new days no half a day when the sun rises is not rising as half day. This is new day. The sun rises with the new day. Be present for it. Be present for it. And when the sun sets we get grateful for yet another day of one hundred percent and we can learn from nature learn from the sun learn from the animals and to be right here right now their children playing and rather than i know too many people one hundred percent get aggravated when they hear kids. Or you know the playing of this and they say those kids and that's the mindset that can be shifted can shift at all the constant whining and complaining. Some people are in at one hundred percent to whine and complain or wish for this or that doesn't mean we don't have moments like we're not saying that we're perfect. Nobody is perfect again. One hundred percent owning the perfection of the day and the sun is always perfect no matter if they're clouds above No matter if there's rain in the sky it's perfect so my friends. I thank you for listening. We even the birds and sending out the love and they don't have measure it when they sing. The birds sing one hundred percent. So let's singer sign. Let's come from one hundred percent character and that censure really getting closer to see to sing in one hundred percent. Let's learn from nature.

They all seek very highly of her later in life and we had a great time much happy to so happy to and now gonna play the song that she wrote for this trivia for her i like genuinely but also have pointed out. I talked to my parents about stu and rolling stone of how basically slut shaming her. And it's like in my stepmom. She's like well. Did they say do the same thing about carole king deputy contemporary. And i'm like no. I had to really think about why carole king wasn't slut shamed like daddy think odd you may not have had as many high profile romances bill. So she's been writing pop song since the nineteen fifty. She's been in that machinery for a while so when she finally came around with an album with my seventy one's tapestry the legendary record that is it was just here. I am as an artist and there was an announcement overnight. Success that can happen from there but she hit was to neil. She wasn't a public figure. In the way that joni mitchell was and so. I feel like she kind of may of airbnb innings. Oh yeah now. This couch was like oh. It's been around for a while. She she raised on the raisons. Not only is like everybody wanna fucker. But when she's w she's down with you and she moves on my impression from all. This is really sad that it had to end. It was really like bitter sweet for about. I loved him a lot like it was time. Exactly fitness is always like and. She's like that. That sucks but i'm over entered purpose served. Its purpose and then also all the stuff with your daughter to of a surprise to find out about how they finally met in nineteen ninety-seven. I didn't know any branded the storytime now. "Still cliven. Rv so true. So today i'm going to talk about the Crisis of climate change. I'm joking. That would be ridiculous. I'm going to talk about cuba but i. I want to talk about the fact that i have finally moved into my house. I'm now no longer homeless after weeks and weeks of wandering lonely as a cloud. I now have a home. And i want to say first of all i want. The first thing i want to say is that if there were a nobel prize for homemakers which as far as i'm concerned is the only profession that actually deserves a nobel prize. My wife would not only win the first one it would be named after her. It would just be called the the ellen brought She has done a great job putting this house together. In record time she had helped vice With some some designers who. I won't name. Because i don't know if that would manage their business being associated with me but they were. They were terrific but she really did a great job running these crews and now i wanna talk for a minute about the idea of home especially in the idea of home in my life because home is become more important to me as i grew older and came to terms with a lifelong wanderlust. And what my wanderlust meant what it meant my life and what it meant kinda philosophically because i talk about this. In my memoir. The great good thing. I was always very moved and very captured by the romantic american idea of the drifter i actually wanted to be a. I was a kid. I want to be a professional drifter. I mean this is something that is very deep in the american consciousness. it's the symbol of freedom that's connected to the idea of a wilderness. A place where you can wander off into open country and disappear and be completely completely yourself with no one there to bother you so i grew up with that idea very much in my mind. I mean huckleberry finn who you remember. At the end of the novel he lights out into the territory into the open countries because he's just such a free spirit that nothing can contain him. My mother used to call me huckleberry fine which was the jewish version of uncle. Bury fen because i just had that that spirit of drifting all this kind of romantic music. I remember ricky nelson. Who was a big rock star. When i was a little kid has song called a traveling man. When i was working at a gas station to earn money to take my first of countless trips across country which i did in my efforts to become a drifter I was working at a gas station. Eleven hours a day six days a week. I think i was paid two dollars an hour. Which was a lot of money and before if you were working sixty six hours a week and there was a song called so far away by carole king and the saw you suggest break my heart. And because they played one of those top ten You know radio stations. It was constantly playing the same songs over and over again. I would here so far away all day long and it just made me yearn to be on the open road. It was another one of these vagabond anthems today not anymore but for decades after that experience whenever that song came on the radio. I would smell gasoline because gasoline is very much connected to memory Anyway the idea of wandering of drifting became very popular again in the sixties. When i was growing up because that was when a generation was kinda yearning for that sense of freedom. They felt that they were constrained by nineteen fifties culture obviously conservatives look back on that culture with the stahl job but it was very lockstep in very kind of solidified it was solidified culture and so people did feel oppressed by women felt oppressed by men felt oppressed by it. It was just kind of the idea of the man in the gray flannel suit and there was no not a lot of creativity so a lot of the road. Romance came back into fashion. When i was a kid and it really caught me up in. A jack kerouac a and has book on. The road became popular again. Easy rider was another version of that. There was a show on that. I just loved television. Show on it would only lasted for a year was called then came bronson Where a guy who was a michael parks was very james. Dean like actor died a few years back but he played a newspaper man whose friend killed himself and so he got on a motorcycle and just took off into the territories. Like like huckleberry finn and this was the opening of the shows. Cut twenty five. This was how the show opened. Every week was brought on his motorcycle in a traffic jam. The workaday guy looks out the window and he sees them there taking trump. Yeah.

"The Maison with Kevin Nathan yesterday. I was talking about how my wife was upset about the fact that this is us is ending, and we all have those weird things in life, we really care about. And I guess, you could say, I'm guilty of something, too, because they announced the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees this past week. And I'm not exactly excited the band. I wanted most Devo, one of my favorites didn't make the final round, Foo Fighters. Girl goes Jay-Z, Carole King, Todd. Rundgren Tina Turner all making it. Of course, everybody says Jay-Z is in Iraq, act, but we can argue about that till the cows come home. Neither was the Notorious BIG or even Whitney Houston, but what got me really incensed wage. Was that my favorite band of all times, Kraftwerk went in as an early influence, they were off the main performer about it for years. "Involve a man about a half a day to remember my mother, wife, Frank. Yeah. Tina Turner doing in the Rock Hall of Fame. The inductees were announced about an hour or so ago. Let's talk about it with Dean Richards. Morning, Dean. Good morning. This I'm so happy even though Tina Turner is already in the rock Roll hall of famous half of Cantina Turner. I'm so happy to see her go in a solo artist, and, you know, while she's able to appreciate its pretty much retired now, but I couldn't be happier for her could not be happier for Carole King, who is also in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a songwriter for her work with Gerry Goffin, But now she goes in as a solo performer. As well. So she's dual induct E. As is Dave Groll from the Foo Fighters. He's already in for his work as a drummer with Nirvana and now his band Foo Fighters being inducted. Into the rock Roll Hall of Fame as well, along with Jay Z, who has broken just about every record there could possibly be and music of the go. Go's Argo going in on their first try into the Rock Hall of Fame and finally, after multiple nominations, Todd Rundgren Finally gets his induction and will be part of the class of 2021. I went back and looked at the list of nominees to see who didn't make it and track it. Kahn did not deign Warwick did not Think Dionne Warwick should be in there, but there's always next year. L L Cool J has been nominated to go in. I think 12 times and has missed 12 times the group Kraftwerk Aziz. Decided, you know, has been nominated like 10 or 12 times. They haven't been in there Lots of people who are, you know, very deserving, but you know, it comes down to the choices of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On somewhat of the public. The public it's Ah, vote as well and can influence who gets inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame, Much like the group Chicago did a few years ago. Really, that was That was a fan, you know based effort that got them and deservedly so they should be long overdue in the news, the death of actor and writer and producer Norman Lloyd. A lot of people know this guy from ST elsewhere. But his career was so much more than that, wasn't it? Absolutely. He played Dr Daniel ASHA wander on the long running TV medical drama. ST elsewhere, but he did about 20 shows on Broadway on the big screen. He worked with Alfred Hitchcock and Spellbound. He worked with Charlie Chaplin. In Limelight hey, was in dead Poets Society with Robin Williams. Among his many many, many credits passed away at his home in Los Angeles yesterday, he Woz This just floored me. When I read this 106 years old 106 years old, we have to find out What he was eating what I was doing, You know, study this man. Yes, really study this man. That's if we want to be 106 years old. Well, I don't know what kind of shape he's been in lately, but I'd like to find out Norman Lloyd. What a career. This guy had. Let's talk a little bit about Broadway. They've announced an official reopening Heaven thing. Yeah. Broadway in New York have well, they've announced that shows they're going to be coming back this fall. But yesterday they got pretty specific. Saying that Hamilton, The Lion King and Wicked will resume performances on September the 14th. That's the first time that they've given a big a date. And it's the most recent date that we've heard of anything re opening on Broadway again. I just happen to be speaking with Lin Manuel Miranda yesterday. Oh, Dean, you name dropper. You just happened to be talking with Lin Manuel Miranda because he's got this new movie. In the Heights, the film adaptation of his very successful Broadway musical that's going to be coming out that was postponed for a year because of the pandemic, but He I had heard that Hamilton was going to be opening and he told me about how excited they are that you know they're finally going toe get to be back up and running again. But the Big Chicago News for us in this is that Miguel Cervantes, who start as Alexander Hamilton, here in Chicago for five years, is going to take over the role of Alexander Hamilton on Broadway. He was supposed to do that when the pandemic it, you know, the Hamilton closed here in Chicago. It was announced that he was going to be moving to New York. He was all excited. I'm going to star and Hamilton on Broadway. Then everything shut down. And you know, he, like every other actor was out of work. But Miguel is going to be back center stage again. I hope you didn't forget the lyrics in the in the last year, but also Wicked and Lion King. Also September. 4th and tickets are on sale for those shows right now through Ticketmaster. If you're planning a trip to New York, or you just want to go somewhere I've talked to so many people just they want to go anywhere right now. Just Tiuna get out of their four walls. You know, the airports have been busy lately and so aspires Broadway in Chicago goes, they usually follow. New York, don't they? They do. But there's been no official announcement, except that shows are going to begin in the fall. When we had said We don't have any specific dates we way we know that There will be a show at the Broadway Playhouse. That's a water tower. I blanking on the name of the show right now, but that's the only Broadway in Chicago show. It's been announced, and they just said that that would be in the fall. But you know, will, you know? Well, well, Some of these big shows be coming back to the Cadillac Palace or the Oriental. You know, the big Broadway show houses that we have not heard yet. I suspect that we're gonna be hearing any time now, since there's movement on Broadway. There will I'm sure be movement here as well. We'll talk about Bennifer. Do we still call them Bennifer? I do. I've never stopped calling them better for more on what's been happening with those two, apparently and Some Taylor Swift News and more from Dean after a quick break.
