"Just on the move on his way back from Vegas, and so he has entrusted me of forced to keep the party moving here. That's what we're going to do. And if you haven't already please subscribe The buck Sexton show podcast. I do a quick 30 minutes in the morning. First thing in the morning. Listen, wherever you listen to podcast, Go check it out. It's on The I Heart app and Spotify apple podcast Buck Sexton show podcast in the morning. Okay, So we have exactly what I've been saying is going to happen for months unfolding right now. Before all of us, which is that cities are essentially defying the state level now, right? So in the system, and you see this across the board leftists because they are ideologically authoritarian. Because they actually believe in the collective trampling on individual rights, and that might makes right. All that matters is power when when it's in their favor. They say This is the system. How dare you defy the system right when they have the power to do something, even if they shouldn't do it. But when you go to the other side of it all of a sudden the system that they were saying you have to respect isn't Something that they have control of. They just nullify. They sabotaged it. They undermined it. I don't know. They changed the election rules. Whatever they do, they find a way. And here is the Florida School superintendent, Dr Dr Carly Simon, for example, defying Governor Ron DeSantis on mask mandates. Master, not a medical device mass or preventive safety devices. It would be just as though we're asking students wear a baseball helmet when they go up too bad at a baseball game. This is to protect the safety of our students. So we are trying to explain this to the commissioner of that, as well as the governor, and this is something that we need in order to happen as his run face to face. Yes, it's just like wearing a baseball helmet during a baseball game. What about wearing a baseball helmet all day? I mean, you could fall down and hit your head. Kids fall down. I remember I was one kids fall down. They hit their heads constantly. It happens, right? What's the big deal? Where a helmet all the time? What's the big deal? Notice how this is How hysterics always argue. This is how the lockdown left has approached this the entire time. It's always It's not that big a deal just two weeks, friends Just two weeks. Just one shot, actually, just to actually just shut up and take as many shots as we tell you to This is how they do incrementalism. It's not just on health issues, but on this one, we see it particularly strongly. In this case, it is abundantly clear what we are up against. And so they tell you, it's about a safety device, more head injuries that are fatal and serious in cars than just about anywhere else. Why aren't they demanding helmets in cars for everybody all the time. Well, what's the matter? You don't you don't want people to live. You're a bad person. You don't want to drive around with a helmet. First of all, I'd have all kinds of problems. I got a huge head. I had to get the extra extra large helmet when I was in Iraq, flying around in black hawks and stuff because you had to wear a helmet in a military helicopter, because the way it would just, you know, throw you around and People. There's 2 40 golf would open up and things will start getting spicy in the air. I mean, but in your car, you know, driving around right now, in your in your your four to your Chevy or whatever. Why not wear a helmet all the time? This is safety is, um it's an obsession with rules mandated by people who are enable unable, Sorry, incapable. Of actually assessing risk normally. And lives. I really think the hysteria they have is a is a mass mental illness. I don't know how else to describe it coming up here. We'll have clay joining us to talk about his situation in Las Vegas over the weekend, betting a whole lot of money. For charity, of course, and we'll get into some Afghanistan updates for all of you. What is happening there? How are we getting people out? Who are we getting out? One of the many things we talk about. When it comes to your money is Protection protecting your wealth Protecting report folio But the greatest satisfaction I've had when it comes to this is buying actual physical gold from the Oxford Gold Group. When that package arrived at my home, I opened it up and I had that gold in my hand. I knew this is mine. I've got this gold. I can keep it and it will maintain value. Now, whenever I open up my safe at home, there's my passport, My home protection, reserve cash and real gold from the Oxford.

"Yeah sure and then. When that for example threatened. When i don't know if i'll be able to pay my mortgage next month because the gigs are coming in. Yes so we get very consumed with with that naturally so right and you would wonder also the other end of the spectrum. Why would a really successful very famous artist. Be nervous Carly simon you know but The thing is that sometimes you can know. A billion people are millionaires thousand. Whatever and not be close to anybody are not feel like your buddy and that is scary sort of fake sort of life. Yeah very very lonely. Justin bieber with his song. Lonely i mean you just you just watch that video and you see what we're talking about here so that can lead to anxiety about not just stage but career just in general like we might doing if this is success. God in heaven you know your what is your yeah and i often say to my to my younger clients and students that i work with. They should never make the assumption that that i think. When you're young you make the assumption. Once i get to a certain level or once i get to a certain skill level. I will no longer feel anxious and i think oftentimes the inverse is true because the further we go the more we have riding on it. Yeah so I wanna talk a little bit here about something you know. I work with performers to and worked with a lot of performance with stage anxiety. Now i want to tell you what i've had success with. And i i would love for you to speak to explain what you think is going on And that is that very creative. People tend to have too many sensory feelers out there and it makes him really good at being a songwriter or an interpreter of lyric. You know very good artist but they read the room to well in fact they make stuff up. I think suck. I know they think you know. So what i've found that has worked is to use acting technique where i get them talking to one heart. And focusing all those sensory feelers in array like a laser beam towards the one heart for the purpose not of narcissistic -ly delivering their message. But for the very specific goal of getting the response from the person lyric is is to its acting technique. But as sanford meisner says great acting is behaving authentically and fictitional circumstances and when i get them focused on singing to the right heart whether that's A person it did real or there but usually they're not A person they don't know somebody their make up their own heart which have to schizophrenic. And sort of you know. Move hard out there too. It's an external thing we're doing with our voices or to god which is a weird one you can't see that or if it is to the audience to the one heart of the audience. Instead of to everybody like a flashlight beam they become a leisure being and that really helps with stage anxiety Unless they have you know. Some deeper clinical Issues or an have gotten that way everybody can there can be a trigger trip to and they really need more help than that..
Learjet, the private plane synonymous with the jet-set, nears end of runway
"Very well. Kick it off with an item from cnn says learjet once the goto private plane for celebrities is ending production. How their jetty courses owned by bombard. Aa they say that they will stop production later. This year bombarded said that they will concentrate on the challenger and global aircraft which are more profitable but The company's gotta interesting history David started in one thousand nine hundred sixty two by bill. Lear and i think entry into service was nineteen sixty three for the longest time. It was the ultimate status symbol. Business jet i mean it. It's been shows up in song. Like carly simon song and it was flown by the stars and it looked good. I mean it. it's kind of. It's kind of unfortunate that we're going to lose an aircraft that looked fast and and represented the elite all those years but it. It's been around a long time. Originally goes back to a company that lear formed called swiss american aircraft corporation located in in switzerland but that That didn't last too long and were were moved but i understand that the first learjet was actually adapted from a nineteen fifties swiss ground attack fighter. Aircraft the ffa p sixteen so. I wasn't aware that origin till a little bit of research today. It's a class of aircraft that most as this article points out that most people don't want it's holds five to seven And it you know anybody who wants a fast business jet once more people so there. We're talking about globals and challengers so I guess it's just it's time has come on for and just unfortunate 'cause it's always been one of my favorite aircraft up including my nineteen seventy-two matchbox sky busters earlier jet bright little yellow and white body. So they will be missed. So i'm sure they'll be flying around for a long time well. And there's another factor as well to and you're talking about the five to six place said jet market and that is that the non three hundred of which they've sold about five hundred now is lower price so i think they just got Undercut by the competition also the fbi non one hundred which is even less expensive. So that's part of the changing market Now we've talked on the show years about the restructuring of bombay and they've been selling off in a low performing units. They've had a huge amount of debt to pay down. Which is why they've been selling them off. We talked here about when they sold the series their airliner which was sold off to airbus. And this is going to be Job cuts all over the place in a separate article. I saw that. I think about three hundred people will lose their jobs in wichita allow the production is based another arrest. Seven hundred i think are being lost in either quebec or ontario of because there's some being lost in both provinces i forget which one was the most but one was seven hundred and the other was a one hundred so big impact All the way around it does really make party a instead of the cult conglomerate that it was with all kinds of different things including a railcar business very much a single business entity and we've talked in the past how feel a lot of the business jet companies. They've gotten multiple businesses Textron's a great example And so this is really gonna make them highly subject to the you know the ups and downs of the market and fortunately the markets in an upturn business jets are selling well but boy. This'll be a real challenge for them. The future i think when there's a downturn in the market bill. Lear william powell. Lear was also an interesting guy course. he's He died longtime ago in one thousand. Nine hundred seventy eight. So it's been it's been quite a while and we've mentioned before that he actually invented the eight track Which many of our Younger listeners are not gonna know what that is. Tell us what is that. Because i don't know what an eight track is. I had one of those In my truck. Back in the let's see would have been in the Early seventies but he was a self taught engineer. But you know what. I didn't realize is that he was actually a call. Your trophy winner. But not for the learjet. Do you know what he won the collier trophy for david. No i didn't know he won a collier trophy. He did for the f. five autopilot. The autopilot was for the lear jet. Not for an f five. That was a test david. You passed double checking very good man. So yeah now bombarded says that they're going to continue to to support the aircraft ecorse encouraging and really to be expected But yeah it's kind of sad to see an old name like that disappear all right we have From marketwatch archer aviation gets one billion dollar order from united airlines on the same day announces. A deal to go public Max united airlines united is getting interested in vitale aircraft.

"This song is you so Carly Simon finally stated that so how do you hate I don't like the lyrics oh my gosh because you think this song is about you don't you Dave and it is there you go there you go I have I had my play this song for a very specific reason because CBS news CBS this morning which by the way that is my favorite morning show if I'm gonna watch morning television I like the whole team there and I know that's blasphemy for some of you but I really like that morning team I like that show not that I watch a lot of morning TV but if I do if I'm having coffee and I have the day off and I'm just sitting around not looking at the news I watch Colorado at CBS this morning but he did a story about a new children's version of a book stamped from the beginning of the definitive history of racist ideas in America and that song goes to exactly my point about some of this conversation you're about to hear ladies snippets because apparently the the real story was like separate and it's long to replace some of these snippets that media research center grabbed to give you a feel for what this conversation was about many headlines referred to the stock market plunge yesterday as black Monday and that is one of the subtle and not so subtle ways that racism has been braided into our everyday culture so many misconceptions and and I truly realized throughout the history of of what children are taught about their history I I I hate to put it that directly but you know when you go back and use you look at people like a Thomas Jefferson George Washington he's founding fathers who are so revered how do you re teach that even terms like black Monday black sheep can can be freighted with that with that with the negative connotation that sometimes we don't even realize it's baked into the vocabulary yeah I don't think we we even realize we we we have a skin color and a regular color and amber connoting both in a negative fashion better relationships between the two and then I think we have to break not only the relationship of those negative connotations now to my point about you're so vain it is ridiculous we did keyless to think that the terms that by the way they flashed on the screen they flashed a little you know okay I run up there and it says let's talk about words with negative connotations black Monday black sheep blackballing black male blacklisting okay every one of these as a legitimate origin or multiple origins none of which have to do with black people the earliest origin that I can find for black Monday was at the end of the hundred year war when a British monarch not a martyr but at the end I do close moving to further his war with France and there was a freak of nature storm and it was horrific and the skies were black and ten thousand men died and it was actually the event that precipitated the final treaty for the end of the hundred year war but this guy was black and thus it was called black Monday Shakespeare references it in I want to save them maybe the merchant of Venice I can't remember right now off the top of my Shakespearean had blackballing refers to a practice where people would be able to vote on someone else's membership and generally speaking they would say I would like Dave the intrepid to be in our club let's all vote on it secret ballot the ballot was in the form of a red what are a white ball or a black ball if you want to Dave to be in the club you put a white ball in the bucket if you did not you put a black ball in the bucket it's it's it's the kind of ego that is required to believe that somehow these phrases because they use the word black to describe something now off the top of my head black sheep seems pretty innocent a flock of sheep are all white the unusual one would be black you know why the black sheep was less value than the white sheep I just look this up why is that because their wall could not be died at the time a white wall could very easily be died it was therefore in high demand black wall could not be died and therefore was on wanted to go so this is not a connotation on someone's skin color someone's race there are legitimate reasons for this I do think that somehow if I say one the black sheep in the family I'm saying well I'm the African American who's oppressed in the family I was just so beyond rational thought it's paranoia it is paranoia but to the callers point earlier about what do we do to prevent another Bernie Sanders candidate from rising up you gotta stop making you getting here to make sure that your kids are learning the full story of the founding fathers that is the good the bad and everything in between I'm one of those people that I think that our students should learn that our founding fathers many of them were slaveholders but I think should they should have that in the proper context of the time and I also think that they should learn everything else positive about the founding fathers and the founding of this nation instead of just getting a one sided view either everything's glorious like we learned when I was a kid because we can learn the truth we learn the truth about George Washington or Abraham we learn the truth about eating these people we learned the sugar coated I cannot tell a lie I chop down the cherry tree version which is altogether inaccurate so I am all for teaching kids history but guess what the founding fathers who were slave holders also helped create the most dynamic governance experiment in the history of the world and that should be taught as well seriously crazy I also want to tell you guys very quickly hang on Hey Brian you're on gateway what's happening man just doing a show Hey I got I got a little question for you to ponder here the way that things are going what about White Christmas what would that be donating you know saying that we want Christmas only for white people and and blacks are not allowed to speak in the Christmas I think that's fairly obvious eraser I think that's fairly obvious right out and and don't even get in on the white chocolate because that is not first of all it's not real chocolate so you should never eat white chocolate I'm just not out there there's there's a lot of stupidity that goes along with that it and it just is stupidity it truly is really no question Sir thanks for bringing up the topic it's just that's what I know about what you're doing in the the bumper to bumper traffic on I. twenty five so thanks for joining us today Hey that's what we're here for my friend that is what we're here for yes Dave I think we have some news about the proposed yes features J. It was a film. I thought I would never appreciate all signs and symbols it got under my skin with performances direction. And when it ultimately brought me to tears when I had nothing else to give I was left with only the sound of two people talking talking loudly. I felt I would never enjoy a movie the same ever again. Forecast. Grow by Chuck ler. Wow. Is that your Herzog Calvin Klein's obsession such an eighties move icy? Okay. It's a fine line between Herzog and. I think the first line almost sounded like. Efforts apply. See that's your obsession. Add. Yes that that's yeah. That's way to bring it back even alive for that. I read about in history class. They mentioned it in documentaries and stuff. Yeah. Well, the the reason I did that is because we are doing very eighties movie today before even say anything, Chris let me just say this. Wing. Hint of the things that are coming. I mean. I can't believe that. I actually like Carly Simon song from a movie in the eighties after what I went through with a leave their own. Yeah. This is the official music video for let the river run. She's on the Staten Island ferry which probably the one time in her life, probably Simon ever boarded the ferry because as we know she's very much child of privilege. Actually, I didn't have you heard of Simon and Schuster. That's her father. Wow. Look, I'm not hold it against her. I'm just saying know. Well, we're gonna get into this song later because there's some funny. Interesting things about it. I just wanted to kick off the conversation with the it's one of those song hooks that you just can't ever get enough of the kind of playing comedic -ly, you know, and I think periodically throughout this episode like at least this drum sting. And then when she starts wailing. Like thing about it made any impression on me, except for the drum the drum track is great. The track is growing what we're gonna get into that later. Maybe you could subtly edit the soundtrack song underneath my description, and I'm about to read. Okay, anyway. Yes, we here today to talk about nineteen eighty Eighty-eight Mike Nichols film, working girl after experiencing a nine hundred nine eight version of a metoo moment with a co worker played by we should have been paying attention. Kevin Spacey plucky Staten islander tests transfers to a new secretarial post on Wall Street, where her new boss, Catherine Parker is a falsely confident corporate barracuda clothing herself in feminist togetherness and who's orthodontic improved. Upper east side. Rick dis-, barely conceals her needy, insecurity and ruthless ambition. Her boss who stole tests idea for perfect union between a big corporation and a radio network owned by a bearded, but principled southern rube. Test is inborn business, acumen and commonsense drawing a good guy named Jack trainer whom she meets cute at a corporate event after having been given a valium by her Steen ceiling friends, Cynthia Jack is played by an in his prime Harrison Ford who looks like so much delicious musclemen pudding, and even pouts and wells up little man baby genetically engineered to push ovaries into overdrive impressing, the imperial corporate raider or in Trask tests plan is brought to the dealmaking stage before being up ended by meddling, Catherine Parker, who's brilliant. Use of crutches causes test to fade into the shark tank like deep wood paneling until in elevator day new mall outs the truth. And then Jackie tests. Make toast of Catherine, and they actually make toast of brilliant, ending has tests uncertain whether to set up in the secretarial cubicle as her own new secretary. Plays ambitions by using tests desk. Well, do you think of that? I think it's fantastic. I'm glad that you focused on that ending. Well, you know, what I realized I listened to last week's episode, and I can't presume that everyone has watched every movie, and we never sometimes we don't give any synopsis of the film whatsoever. I don't know if that's useful for anybody. Maybe it's useful. If we make them at least, hopefully, entertaining and fun, right? And I don't mean the writing style of that description to indicate lack of sincere worship for how good working girl is as a movie. Wow. Well, I think as a piece of filmed entertainment, it is impeccably assembled and put together and unlike many films of its era, it has real depth than it has real subtlety, and it has real layers to the characterizations the filming eight holds up it feels ahead of its time even today, which is less appraise of the film and more criticism of how little we've progressed as a society. I love it. It's great. I also loved it. This is the first time that I had seen it. This is another one that every every working girl know how I don't know. It was around. I knew is supposed to be good. But it just sort of never you knew it had a Carly. Simon theme song that until reading about it after the fact, but it just sort of never never got any rain. Well, that's where your age difference for me comes in. And and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it a lot like you said I do think that it was ahead of its time. And for something that is on the surface of very fluffy piece of entertainment, and is very obviously, a fairytale and overly simplified at the same time. They're elements of it that give it ballast that are more complicated and more forward thinking than your run of the mill rom com. That's like a lot of nostalgia. Watching it by seeing the old computers. The old styles of like eighties hair. And all of those things were fun to watch. And then the actual the ending of it. And the theme that I think it comes to. I'd love to talk about whether it dates, well or doesn't, but it seemed so of its time in a way that actually is very different from from what people prize and think is important today. Interesting tidbit the theme song, which has a conic life of its own. Did you know that this song has a life today as an anthem amongst political activists who champ this originally after Carly Simon had composed the song and the song is a co production, basically between Carly Simon who believe wrote the lyrics, and rob Mounsey who's the composer? When I think of this on the two most iconic things about it are that very eighties drum rhythm, which kicks in. And also, of course, Carly Simon is unique voice. So apparently, she she. Composed the song they submitted it mcnichols loved it. But then at some point in the in the editing, or the film, Mike Nichols contactor and said, I'm so sorry. We're not gonna use it. We did a test. And we we used the eagles which woman over the opening and it's played really. Well, I think we're gonna go with that. So I play play a little which he woman.

You probably wouldn't let your kids read it because it doesn't ever were Jesus in it. But it is a beautiful store. It's called it's time to sleep my love illustrated by one of the greatest illustrators, you know. Who's out there? But here's my point. It's a lullaby poem that I wrote, and I said, wouldn't it be cool to get somebody to record this? And they said well who do you want in your wildest dreams? I said my dreams James Taylor or no joke Carly Simon like one of those two right? Well, their daughter recorded the song. Well, and so weird because you can tell from the way she sings and phrases stuff that she's the daughter of the two of them. It's so beautiful while right? So it's Sally Taylor right recorded that's very difficult to find. But that I love James. I mean, that's fine. You don't ever play rap music to lead in. No, no, actually, I think I have some wrap on here. I think I do. Yeah. I have another question. I just want to ask before you get back into talking about our book, and how amazing it is being on radio as much as you've been on. Yeah. Have you actually like accidentally belched into the microphone? I don't believe in that. Really? No, okay. Good spirits. Good to hear he needed cast that out. Amen. Yeah. That's that's either jazz Belic spirit. If it's a woman of Jessica why Old Testament where it's a condo Leany yoga spirit. Yeah. That's okay. So let's let's you guys were just talking about something that was very interesting. And I wanted to get on another subject that I have no clue what I wanted to get out. Now. No, we we were talking about your your boldness in in reaching up to this person in Chicago. That's an extraordinary story. No joke. I'm thrilled. It's in the book because I want people to read about it. And to understand this is what's called the normal Christian life. That's right. This is what we're here for to love people. And it doesn't mean we're going to get to do it all the time because we're living in a broken world is not easy, and we are centers. But just the fact that you have put it out there a couple of times and seen the fruit is amazing. You know, we talk about our mom in this book, and she actually represented one of the greatest bridges for us that connected heaven to earth, and what we talk about. And the reason why we mentioned my mom is because we heard this quote one time, and I think it was Oswald chambers that said a river touches places that it source knows nothing of so a river will touch places its source doesn't know where it's touching. And we thought about our mom that she never. Stood on stage. She never spoke in church. She sang off key. When she did sing in the congregation was cute. But our mom was faithful. We lived a mile from the high school that we went to and, you know, my mom every single day, and we had a little brother and sister at the time. So we were in high school. We had a three year old brother at the time. Did you drive them off? What happened? No. They were just that age that time now, they're still are younger, brother and sister. He. The way that he Lord of the flies thing, and you just kind of base. Is it another over matter? Oh, no, no, no, go ahead. Sixteen years older than our little brother and sister. And so our mom would be taken care of them at home, and she would make us lunch. So we'd go off to school seven thirty eight o'clock from eight o'clock until noon, she'd be making us lunch, and she would bring this Jain Norma's cardboard box with with Tupperware, and she would make like mashed potatoes that Salisbury's vegetables and all the other cats hate your guts, they actually loved it because they would get there. And if she she would make enough to where we could share with some of the other kids, but it was pretty every day around eleven thirty. She would walk her double stroller with my little brother and sister on there. And we'd see this big cardboard box with these two hands. My little brother holding onto that box. And then my brother, and I would get out and all of our friends would come over there and hug her and we'd grab that cardboard box. We'd go into our lunchroom and our Buddy's still laugh with us today. They're like, I remember your mom and a cardboard box, and she would make those lunches for us. And she was so faithful when nobody else even knew that she was being faithful. And we knew it. She was just faithful to feed us every. Single day. And you know, it reminded me of the unsown hero in the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand and we think about this little boy who who was the only one there on five thousand men, it was probably more like twelve or fifteen thousand people. He was the only one there that had any food. And I was just thinking about that young boy that the Jesus was coming through town. And he said, hey, mom, I want to go here. This prophet Jesus. This this rabbi, and she says, well, you're not going without a lunch and she packs him a couple of tuna fish sandwiches. She was faithful when nobody else was choose fish sandwiches. Sandwich know, maybe she used mayo. Maybe the classic kind of thing a preacher would say. And then you think like, okay, I've been to Israel not a lot of tuna in the galley. But we get the point. They also don't have PB and J what who knows what they had with the cool part about the story is that Jesus ended up unpacking. The lunch of a little boy whose mom packed it for him. My brother, and I when we go we write these books, and we stand on stage as we speak, and we're telling people to stand boldly, we're unpacking the launch that are mom pack for us, those spiritual truths that she put inside of us. And you know, what my mom went home to be with the Lord. And we write the story of phenomenal story of her deathbed experience. And we she went home to be with the Lord. But today the stuff that she plowed into my brother and she put into us. We're now pouring out to other people a river touches places that it source knows nothing of she's a bridge between God and other people today because of her faithfulness to pack us, a low. So even in the mundane, you ruin nobody else sees God sees you can be that bridge. But I mean, seriously if you know God is with you, and is watching you. It's our faithfulness to him. And we know that he's gonna use it in others. It's not just like the Lord knows. He will use it. Even if you screw it up is right. He will use it. Okay. We're gonna be right back. Talking to the Benham brothers. And when we come back. I wanna ask you about this twin thing that you're trying to put over on everybody. We'll.
