"The entire front office from the great years for Toronto FC, which basically 2015 through 19, all those guys have left. That team was deep. That team was well put together. That team didn't make mistakes like letting Mark Delgado go. In fact, they picked him out of the dispersal trap. When you lose that much institutional know -how and the culture is as kind of shattered as it is, it gets... Man, it's ugly on the outside looking in and it's probably going to cost people jobs, players, coaches, front office, whoever. It should not be like this. We said it was going to be a boom or bust. That was the narrative that's... So I would just say to that point... It's feeling that way. The thing that surprises me is that to your point on Bob, if I looked around the league and I was like, hmm, okay, what manager, you're going to bring in these two Italians, huge personalities, what manager can handle this and keep them pulling in the same direction as the manager, basically? And I would have said Bob off the jump. It was like, oh, that's a good fit. The guy who coached Vela and Storchkov and whatever else. That's a great fit. I mean, he got the absolute best out of Carlos Vela. Storchkov came here. If you look at Storchkov's numbers, the first year he was in MLS, it was like MVP numbers. And this was a guy who was famously not easy to coach. The same with Peter Novak. And that was Bob. Early years with Echeverria. I know he's not the head coach in that situation, but seeing those things go down, the national team, all the personalities you have to wrangle there. I'm not saying that that's Insinia and Bernadeski, but... Part of the boomer bust that you talked about was that there is top end talent, but it was a thin roster and a lot of injury concerns or age. So in your pullout conversation that you really wanted to have, that answer would be everyone gets healthy and everyone's healthy.

"Here. That was kind of a bummer. Yeah. It goes from Carlos vela and this one. He scored twice a Ryan hollings head with a goal for LAFC. Galaxy with a banger from Tyler Boyd, marky Delgado got one back late as the galaxy fell by a goal at home. Afterwards, chicharito, despite the defeat, not quite ready to give LAFC their dude. Here's what he had to say. Hey Javier, you know, you mentioned earlier, if you're one of the best teams in the league, you know, this club has kind of struggled to give results together. I said, if you consider them one of the best things of the league, I didn't say they were the best ones. Just to clearly context, okay? Because you see, that's why sometimes I didn't say that. Sorry? In your opinion, yeah? Is the way that events man is 34 games. We have the same narrative in the last two years and then in the end, we qualify and play what we were the four seat and then they were even more scared that they were going to fight against us. In the past bit the Nashville, right? They prefer natural than us. So man, they are doing a very good job. They're doing a great things, but for us, yeah, it's a result job over here and with the pen on that and unfortunately we have in delivered both the price that is just the beginning. Not willing to budge. Should he get lost? He's been lost. This is the second game that he's played. He's had up until two weeks ago. Zero competitive games in the last 5 months. And he spends more time talking about the Mexican national team or the video games he's playing, than actually the problems at hand. And this is symptomatic to what's going on at the galaxy. Greg vanny would like people to know that he doesn't care, that the players don't care. What's going on with all this noise as he calls it. This once great organization now has fans who aren't happy at a decade's worth of failure that it's considered noise and Javier Hernandez wants you to see how it plays out because you say they're a good team. I'm not going to say they're a good team, even though their record says they're a good team. Even though they just beat us for the first time in history in our House, our fans Javier should say this. Our fans were so upset, so disgusted they'd rather not sit and watch against a team they hate like LAFC. The one game that every galaxy fan in LAFC fan looks forward to. Circles on their calendar. They would rather not show up. They would rather not support you. Because of what they've seen, so get lost, we're beyond that. And the problem here is the arrogance in this room, the arrogance not to accept that LAFC is no longer thinking about the galaxy. The LAFC team, they can care less about the galaxy and if they beat him for the first time. Sure, it's great. And see to run the list said, this is for the fans, but guess what they're thinking about. They're thinking about the concave Champions League trophy. Guess what they're thinking about that after that? MLS cup. That's what they're thinking about. They're not thinking about if chicharito and this thinks they're a good team or not. You've been in a rivalry. I'm not defending chicharito here, but you know, when you're in a rivalry game, is that what he's doing here just trying to be smart and not piss off the LA galaxy fans more by now. He didn't say I mean, if you were in his shoes, what would you have done? If I were in his shoes, this is the one thing I used to love about Javier Hernandez Javier was one of the most humble human beings that I have ever met. One of the greatest competitors when it comes to humility that I had played against. And the old Javier Hernandez would have apologized to the fans. Would have said what is happening now isn't good enough. Wouldn't have said, hey, in the end, we'll come in fourth like we did last time and they won't want to play us, but when we do play them, they'll still beat us. No, he would have had a little humility. That's the old Javier Hernandez that I knew the one who would have appropriately handled the situation. The crazy thing is, Seb, they didn't play bad. They actually dominated LAFC for long stretches at game. Carlos vela, here's the thing. Carlos vela had his worst game that I've seen from him in an LAFC uniform and still scored two goals. And an assist. The galaxy, the true galaxy today, it's a direct reflection of what you see with this LA of C two, they had Stipe Buick. They had a player who was a nominee for the golden boy in Europe, come off the bench. You look at the players, they had come off the bench bogus. He's a Polish international 21. You look at the players LAFC has the depth they have compared to the galaxy today, fraying out of it was your third sub and he's one of your highest earners. He played what three minutes? It's not adding up to fans. It's not adding up to the average pundit who studies this league and says, you know what? Why is this happening? What's going on here? That's why people are angry. That's why people are offended. And that's why you that's why Javier Hernandez needs

"I would almost penalize him, he'll probably be happy about this, but for Thiago almada, just how good he is. And you have to start playing. You should impress if you have to. Like, everybody on the team looks good. Asked me in the preview. Who else needs to step up around Alma? And I was like, almada is creating he's creating everyone better around him. Through just the inertia that he has, the gravity that he has, the way he's able to bring other people forward. He's gets the rebound goal off his shot where he gets free at the top of the box. So I think I will be happy to be included in that group of being lifted up maybe by his young superstar. Yeah, nice little match up. There are good one LAFC Austin, a rematch of the Western Conference Finals from last year as well. This one's on Fox. I believe it's free on MLS season pass 7 30 p.m. eastern. I'm just going to read this quote from Carlos vela. Quote, I'm not happy where I am right now. I think I can play way better. If we're not playing good and are in a good position, imagine when my self starts to play better, score more goals, create more chances for my team. I think everything can be way better. And they have an opening. He's not wrong. He's not wrong. LAFC are unbeaten still in MLS play. Now we're taping this Wednesday. We don't know what happened in Vancouver Wednesday night. That's one caveat to this conversation. But they have not played. It's like the Cincinnati thing. For the most part, other than 25 minutes down the stretch against the revs. LAFC haven't really been able I guess they were really good on opening day or week two match day two against Portland. But they haven't, they haven't built on that. They haven't looked like the team that they were for the most part last year.

"Through the second half benegas. Block by Carlos Bella, and then in second chance the keeper gets a second opportunity, I just want to say thank you very much. And we have a series. It's only one goal. Liga. But in the 57 minute, this is ahead of me and I saved by the keeper. Still squeaky bum time for LAFC. They need something here. Get some. I wasn't gonna see something anytime, but I only know bad words, so I did not say it Carlos vela with a great control, even better finish, puts the game in the freezer and LAFC. Advancing to the quarterfinals. There you go, your bracket. As we speak, steel tower playing Leon matawa facing pachuca. That's a tough part of the bracket. Harry Cooper will play LAFC and in a very interesting matchup at Latvia. But that, that upper side of the bracket, that's a tough one. You'd think so? Water. "I think this is what excites me about it, is there's really no, you know, it's an expansion team. If they win, they win, if they lose, they lose, if they finish bottom of the east they do. For this team, you can tell you can see the fight in their eyes. You get even the coach at the end of the match, grabbing the players saying like, let's beep and go. I won't say the word because I got beeped out in my first episode already, but the passion and the willingness to fight for their team. And you saw that in Portland. You have Klaus that is in the 87th minute running back and covering the top of his own 18 yard box. This team is willing to fight for one another. They know they don't have those big superstars that maybe have those in game changing moments if you're team is playing like crap that they can step up like. A Carlos Bella. Thank you. Carlos vela. I was going to say Emmanuel reynoso, but it's not even here. But a game changing player that can change a moment in a game. So I love this team. I think what they're building here is incredible. I think it's very different than what maybe we had seen in an expansion team in a really long time in Major League Soccer. And I think the ownership group, I think the coaching staff have completely got it right, and I'm not saying their games have been left back passes, okay. But you make your own luck. And I think they're making their own luck in Major League Soccer, and now I think when teams look at this team, they're thinking, oh, I don't really want to play this game because they're going to outwork us. They're going to out hustle us. And they're going to put bodies on us and not scared to get stuck into tackles, which I love. I'm all about, I feel like I'm Taylor twellman right now. I'm sorry, guys. But I love you. I feel like coming through. Look, it's got to be intoxicating. Not just for the players and the coaches, the support, for everybody in St. Louis. I mean, I had my neighbor back in Kansas City who's a St. Louis guy, but not a soccer guy. Texting me about this. It has to be just absolutely elated to be in this position to not know what's going to look like and to have just one home game so far. For it to be a complete party and then have the results follow. But we've all been sitting on pins and needles. We are all wondering how tall do you think gel Klaus is David goss. I didn't look it up, but I'm guessing 6 three. Give it to us, Anders, what do we got?

"Good job coming on. There's the Russia. Shoot. No, they didn't know they did it. What did they do? Those listening are like, hold on, hold on. It's hard for me with a clip. That is class. It was so good. So what happened was midway through the second half, I want to say of LAFC's win over New England late Sunday Night. He had a free kick in a good spot and Kellen Acosta and Dennis bwanga did the old rock-paper-scissors to see who would get to take it. And like, Bologna took it. And he pinged it off the crossbar. Like if he had been able to bury that, it would have been in all time highlight, like just one of the absolute best. Katelyn, have you ever fought over a free kick? And if so, how did you resolve the disagreement? No, 'cause I always played with Christine Sinclair, so I was never getting on a free day ever. She was like, just go be on the outside of the wall and don't get in my way. I'm like, got it. Scissors. Just talk what ice cream. We can rock-paper-scissors to see you ask to buy the bottle of wine if we win. That was basically it though. All right. Yeah. That's a term for rock-paper-scissors shoot. Yes. What is it? Never heard that before in my life. Rochambeau. I've never heard of that either. Like the French naval admiral, who helped win the independence war. Hamilton baby. Oh, that's gonna say, look at you. That felt like a slow play for you to drop that knowledge. No, not at all. Literally it just, it pops into my head after, but they said it on the, that was what max and Danny called it. I've never heard that before. All right, you guys want to jump into it? The name rochambeau is used mainly in the western United States and it's a reference to count rochambeau, who, according to a widespread legend, played the game during the American Revolutionary War. The legend is apocryphal. Amazing. Let's move on. You've learned something today. That's actually interesting. I have I had no idea. All right, LAFC. New England revolution. Four, zero. Revs, two teams that I think we can say at this point in Charlotte and Houston that are on the spectrum of not so good. LAFC on the spectrum Doyle of quite good, LAFC, even without Carlos vela, Jose Fuentes, Ryan hollings had in the starting lineup all being arrested, you would presume for Concacaf Champions League mid week at home against Alain say, all rested, they come up for half hour and LFC just slap them up.

"Fact that Carlos vela staying through the fearless leader, I know he's not going to score the same amount of goals or give the same amount of cysts. LAFC will play Orlando city. I already talked about martino geder Ramirez another young Argentinian player that will be very, very productive. I believe Orlando has the weapons, the attack good enough to make it all the way. Back line, still a big question mark. But I'm sold on LA at sea project and the way they build the team. Yes, they are going to suffer without chicharron. Gareth Bale was, he was good whenever he needed to be good. But chicharron was very, very consistent. I think they're going to miss him. Picked it up towards the end of the season. What I will say on Orlando is very interesting because it's Orlando open cup champion versus your previous MLS cup champion, so interesting there. I'm not sold on Osaka to win a title, like an important title, but I do think he builds a very good model. All right, those are our predictions for next season, starting this weekend before we move on. On the show on Monday, we presented from the athletic and interview they had with Phil Neville inter Miami's manager. Some quotes regarding the league, his perception after not knowing exactly that playoff format turns out inter Miami band the athletic from the immediate media session they held after those comments were published. What do you make of it? Let me tell you how just weak it makes Major League Soccer look. Forget about enter Miami. That makes them look incredibly weak, but Major League Soccer. And it puts a lot of friends and colleagues that I have who now work at Apple or Major League Soccer because they're paid by Major League Soccer in a very precarious position. It threatens a credibility. The league needs to take action because what you're trying to say here, if you don't take action, you're on board with censorship of the media. And it's very important that the league is covered in a very fair and valid way. And by the way, Phil Neville didn't say anything wrong. In fact, the article in the athletic made me think he was praising the league and did he liked being in the league and he wanted to see the league continue to grow and succeed, but to do this gives everybody the outside world the impression that this is still amateur hour. The most important thing everything feel never said was on the record. Every single word was on the record and a club when a media outlet publishes anything that was said on the record. You have zero zero right to criticize those media members. They did their job. They were actually promoting the league, not them, Phil never was. So yeah, it's a disgraceful act, and they shoot corrected. As soon as possible. I was told to say talking about this graceful but I'm not going to say it because he barely leaves nowadays. He does barely sleep. Said is not here. He's MLS

"In the league, he was awesome. So briony's by guy. Diego Rubio is my pick. He's my dude. I like Diego Rubio a lot. And he is going to be the 9 and a rebuilt Colorado team and got 16 goals last year without those players around him. So Diego Rubio goes with the 28th pick in round 7 of the extra time Golden Boot draft. Round 8, Dave, kick it off with a bang. We need to add more rounds. Certainly, that's what this needs. Okay, kicking it off. In the next round. I'm going with a dude that scores gold. This is tough and I'm kind of lost in this one. Where I'm at right now. I'm gonna go with Jordan Morris. I already got Rui Diaz, I'm pretty much gonna try and take the Seattle goals off the board. And you know he'll start if he's healthy every single game. Okay, Tom, you're up. All right, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna be the one that takes Brenner. 8th round for probably half a season. I'm gonna do it. Last year, that worked out pretty well for him. So Brenner's not Tati. All right, I'm gonna do it for the brand Duncan McGuire. He took a video and let's go. He could have waited. How many think he gets? I think he gets a dozen. We have to do all know that we have two more rounds. Heck yeah, I love it. Toilets. Doyle's worried someone else is gonna take. I know. He was. Okay, so I'm up, and I'm going to take, like, I know it's not the same player that we've seen. Over the years, but he will take the penalties and LAFC are going to be very good. I'm going to go Carlos vela. Still 12 and 12 last year. Is Carlos vela gonna take the penalties when they sign a DP number 9? Well, they got to sign that 9 and I don't know when that's going to happen. Probably not going to happen. Yeah, sure, but probably not in this window. I still think he'd be taking the penalties. A bombing type comes to LA, you think Carlos is still taking the penalties. I don't know. I'd still bet on him taking it back. Unless they have somebody who's like hitting penalties at like a 95% rate or whatever else he was playing. I'd be surprised if there's a scenario that caused Bella isn't taking pens. Okay, you're up to. Okay. No one is less prepared for you really needed the snake, did they? I'm completely prepared. I just don't have any belief in anyone. So hard last year, but I'm going to say, I believe in a big improvement from sporting Casey, Willie agata will lead the line, but he won't score all the goals. I think there's a ton of creativity in this team and even last year, Johnny Russell had 8 goals. So I'm going to go with Johnny Russell. He was at the bottom of my tier two, which we've basically worked through.

"To talk about central defense on this team, even in the wake of the signing, we're talking about a new center back partnership. We're talking about. A lack of continuity in a spot that became a strength for them last year. And that was important because Christian kalina really underperformed in goal. He struggled badly, especially the second half of the second half of the season. I mean, we all remember this free kick goal. But he got a nickname, so you had a good season. And then in front, Derek Jones was, I thought, really, really good, the second half of last season. In front of him, but that is a question of chemistry as well. So you're trying to build something new there. If it doesn't happen for them, it's probably central defense or the three line it's kind of a four two three one that they play. I think sudarsky is good. But the other three guys on that line, including cape, they're all, they're all really big question marks. And I know Tom, I agree with you. It's just the only big loss on the field in the roster was Daniel Rios, who was big for them at moments when other players weren't keeping the level and kept them in that playoff race if you remember when they sort of entered it later on with his loss and I think shinyashiki can bring some of that at least goal scoring, not positionally exactly. But if capet doesn't hit, then this is a team that's going to struggle to be in the playoff race. He doesn't need to be cucho. He just needs to he needs to be sabbas Ferreira or erkin Cara from last year at a minimum. I think that he can do again and Rios scored 7 goals four of which was in one game. He was good down the trench, but he was so good because partly they needed a profile like that. Now you're placing them with a $6 million signing for Argentina who scored 25 goals with. Respect the buzzer, Tom. Respect the budget, all right? It doesn't matter if I do respect it, but even if I didn't, it wouldn't become a 90 minute player, just like Carlos vela, who of course played 90 minutes exactly one time in the last four months of last season. Doyle's door's been in the game logs. He's like, wait a second. I'm going to save this for the later show. Steaming. By the way, Charlotte to me is a big we talked about it there briefly, Dave, and that's why I pointed it toward you. I think it's a big goss theorem team, especially on the wings like Nuno Santos, saw some moments, they need a second your bump from him. Josiah for sure need a bump from him. He's in like the ragone camp after last year. Vargas, same thing. There's a bunch of guys where it's like, hey, in year two, we need you to hit, especially on the wings for this team. Okay, on to enter Miami, we go to one loss last night to Montreal in preseason, but hey, it doesn't matter. It's preseason. Here's your haiku. Behold, the father. What about the holy goat

"Any drop off? Alex fala hit us up and said, which tournament should LAFC prioritize? Oh, that's a really good question. I think they should prioritize CCL, but it's hard to say that they're doing that given that they just sold chicho. There's not a number 9 in as of yet. There's still thin and midfield. The Tillman signing helps a good deal. Effectively they haven't sold if Fuentes helps because that's like having another DP on there. The fact that they kept him in cheeky palacios instead of selling them this off season suggests, yeah, we're going all in for CCL. But again, that does not counterbalance the number 9 situation. So it's weird. But that is the next step for this club is doing something internationally. After what they did last year, and the success that they had back in 2019, being supporter shield winner, so that's what makes the most sense to me. I like the idea of quadruple as a number 9. He's not a traditional target man in any sense, but his runs are really smart. He's a relentless relentless off the ball in terms of attacking space, but also in terms of making it really difficult for opposing center backs to build out. And I think you need that next to Carlos vela. If there is a Achilles heel with this team, I think long-term or something that limits their upside, is the fact that vell is not the same guy anymore. Whether it's a poku or not, they're going to figure out the number 9 situation. At some point, they will add more depth to central midfield. And I'm sure that I'm pretty sure that that'll be really good for them. But vela as a DP. He didn't hit that level the second half of last season. And I'm not really expecting him to be that level as a 90 minute player for this season. If you could use them in the old ill senior role, just come off the bench for 35 minutes a week, Carlos. That's all we need from you. That would be great. And maybe with in town, the Croatian kid, maybe that's what it'll happen. But just as a limiting factor in their ability to hit the heights that we've seen from them in the past and to compete across multiple competitions, like that is a red flag to me. One quick tangent, what does this shows infatuation with making everybody be a super sub? This is like a common theme. I don't know why we're limiting. And I understand the concern that he's not 2015. But like for me, it's that I watched him play soccer last year. Yeah, but I've got an idea, Tom. I've got an idea. What if instead of on every show, we just bring you on for 30 minutes? What do you think about that? Maybe we get the best out of you? It's like, yeah, let's take this DP, this MVP is, yeah, the why can't he just be a super sub.

I want to see this. Do play in our country week in week out. I also think kind of we're seeing this era now in europe where particularly club struggle struggled economically. That there's a little bit more of a half life for older players playing in europe. Like i honestly wouldn't be surprised if we're wherever antonio conte goes next if he wants to bring in a player like zero ruin it does seem to have a soft spot for for aging players So why not. But i the he might honestly be valued by another european club and we might still see him playing an important football matches whether it's an italy or in france in the immediate future one of the things we have to consider when we look at this offseason and some of the players going and possibly coming in another truncated aussies another difficult hurdle to get over four manager because the euros and all sorts of international competition or even players like christian pulisic. It's like for like nine point nine. They're down a goal. They won one game all season in that game. They won michael bradley josie. Alto or go goal so you can understand why jozies frustrated and say what you will about josie and how he's played this season over last year. This is your dp that you're taking now. This is our dp. You're saying you're not good enough to help me in this moment. When i need a goal so i think this is beyond repair. And i think we're looking at a josie ultra situation where he's lookin' go elsewhere. Yeah i know that. I would rule out an mls stop. Maybe maybe maybe l. afc reunion with bradley. Who took him to the world cup in two thousand ten and not just that her only has two. Ps one of them's rossi. You might lose him at any time. That's a player. That's highly coveted josie out the door. Carlos vela what a combination that could be one could be for la against the ugly. Let's.

"They did for forty five minutes l. Afc had the ball scenes like the whole time. And if they didn't have the ball the rapids were just kind of struggling under pressure to try and figure out something to do. It was really the opposite of all of the rapids games. We've seen till now. The other thing was that whole first half the rapids did not seem to be able to get pressured the ball effectively. They could get it on the press a little bit but it seemed like they were always a step behind it and they just never got pressured to the ball at the right place which meant that or maybe they weren't even trying especially in that midfield situation. I was talking about it. Meant that they dropped deep like you said And that was clearly by design that they were basically like. We're gonna press up front hope for a turnover and then if it doesn't happen we're gonna fall back to a fairly deep position where it's kind of like Five four one kind of compacted on that first goal it was the fact they were in that formation when they gave up the goal and to your point house of boubacar kind of missed his assignment there. But it just didn't look right from the beginning. It didn't look like they and more importantly if you're being if the other team has the ball you can't get pressured to the ball and you can't really produce the offensive set for a whole half It's just mixed up. So they got right in the second half. Whatever changes frazier made. Were were helpful. And they did better. But this too late too late they. They've blown it and they probably should have been down three now. That yeah so we move onto big thing mark. I will say that it could have been worse. I kinda thought you not conflicting but to kind of foiled us on the game generally from rapids twitter anything both equally right and even though they're yin and yang they kind of show at of the so many so many little things didn't go as well as they could have. A few big things went horribly horribly wrong and still in the final twenty minutes the rapids get a corner and you're they're so a good possibility there. Nicking a two two draw out of this one. And so i could see someone saying. There's so many simple things. They shot themselves in their foot. Given how poor that performances in how fixable those issues are i'm wanted in how in the performance but i can't be disappointed in the result given that or you could be angry all those little things are fixable lawless boubacar could have played a lot better keegan rosenberg could've cloned closed. Down diego rossi. Diego rubio could've finished his chances on the counter-attack robin frazier could have set them off to be a little bit more successful. if carlos vela isn't fit and playing sixteen minutes and his best performance of the season maybe we're talking about a different game in everything you know. I'm so mad at so many little things that the team self inflicted on themselves. That i can't be mad at the result or your mad about the result because of how things work but you can't be mad at the poor because with so many little things could've gone differently the x. g according to analysts soccer dot com was one point to you for afc one point three for the rapids granted that was with the rapids chasing the game for much of the game so it in the end they caught up in everything. But so i think this is a there. Were lessons learned in this one. This game you know games like these are going to happen and the simple fact is mark we've seen the rapids go into the bank of california stadium against an informant scoring diego rossi against carlos villa coming back from injury and the performance hasn't quite there things haven't gone perfectly and the teams wilted or the efforts been there but there's been absolutely no execution whatsoever. The anthony hudson Team would have lost this game. Three nail would have lost this game for one. And while i didn't really see the rapids nicking a point at the end of the game. I can completely understand a number of other people wearing burgundy blue watching this thinking. They just need one really good opportunity or one really good set-piece ball from jack price and they could have gotten a point and they would have deserved and so in that regard i think we can. I think people can look at this game and be equally glass half full glass half empty not be wrong but at the end of the day. It's a learning experience and you move forward to a better situation that i think the rapids have on saturday. Say my one. Big thing is really simple which is going into l. Afc in what. The announcers repeated over and over again was their first game back. Where the fans were you know. Almost all the fans were in attendance. In how exciting to be in the fans and they spend a lotta time talking about that but to be Going into l. Afc is really really tough environment And they are. They've they've locked down the bank really really well as a team When you go on the road to xposition park it's gonna be a tough fight in colorado. Were down to nothing. And i was really worried that it was just gonna turn into a bloodbath. At that point they were gonna go down six nil coming out with a two one win. two one. Two one defeat is kind of a win in the sense that like they were in the ball game for the second half they chased the game effectively They did create enough chances. That you could have imagined them getting out of that game with a two two draw and just barely missing. That may is is pretty decent and you should feel. We should feel pretty good about that so like building towards something down the road that might be more promising as we go forward listeners Earlier today. I got to speak to john john. We have john arnold's how're you doing afternoon. I'm greg odd Start with a little bit of a big picture thing. I look at fc dallas. I see a team that you know with the recent news had with the up. Another kid whose name i can't remember. Because there's so many be going off to via munich. The pipeline you're the conveyor belt is full on in terms of to europe entered securely to move area in germany so clearly that make sense for the club in erection that the league is trying to go and it's certainly helping out the club financially given. We're in cova times. But i'm kind of curious you know. We've seen them selling young players. That's been a big part of their mantra and we haven't really seen it in terms of the i team. In that money being reinvested so at the at the risk of maybe asking a tongue-in-cheek offensive question. What is the point of the fc dallas. I t- Big picture what is this club other than what they're doing from a youth development and sales to europe standpoint right now First of all. It's the hunts so you can use the word pipeline. You know texan Billionaires are not usually Unfriendly with oil rights though pipeline is fine. You don't have to second van impulse. I m eastern texas sense You know speaking about the. I mean you know. I actually during this international break open lab on the strikes texas a piece sort of similarly tongue in cheek that it'll be basically be what would ask dallas. Looked like it. They didn't sell the players. Because you know look like we get. This is where i'm on in certain apps gals at boy. You look at the potential eleven even these now that actually announced the put on the field and a lot of good players left the building. You know kennedy's mckennie have products. He didn't even sign. I see deal now. I think they have this Phobia that the same thing is going to happen and a player's gonna piece out in the academy movie. Turns eighteen signed a deal with a big german club. And they're not gonna get.

Soccer writer Doing their thing. Tell me in a nutshell What you think of what you've seen avail. Afc this season yeah. It's interesting question. Because i think that they've been sputtering. A little bit They've only lost one game of the first floor. And i think most teams would be okay with that. But i would say pretty much every game there has been some sort of sense of. They could be doing a little bit better but they're just not quite clicking yet. And that's kind of i think the prevailing trend over the first month the season. They're playing decent not terribly even in their loss. They didn't play terribly. But it's just a little bit off right now in the in. They're trying to find some traction. You i mean that's a really. I've often thought about as the expectations are so so so high. I mean gorgeous stadium. Huge backers Celebrity power and of course one of the greatest you know expansion team. Dp signings of all time in carlos ella. Do you feel that. The weight of expectation makes it a bit of a challenge that like starting with one win to draw in a loss is like catastrophic as compared with a normal soccer team where that.

"Whichever side it is. Is there any individual rapids player. You would bet money. right now. Dischord both of those opportunities. Not really i mean you know. Should he should. He took his chance. But it a little bit fluky. I will say i think one one last thing. We should probably mention that third goal. That went in if you look very carefully. There was a deflection there. And look very carefully. It looked very careful in look very much like the original shot. Probably ticketed right for your rose hands so again like a little bit of leukaemia. But you know you can't make mistakes To put yourself down to dry dragging even when you're put when you've been outlining your own at one one. You can't make up mistakes that go to like you compound those mistakes the course of a season and you missed the playoffs and so you hope they get the they worked the kinks out now and move on but i think to your point like I mean the thing is probably gonna say this all season mana is one of my fears that the finishing you know our guys don't have a record of tremendous finishing worrying about whether we have a guy a guaranteed finisher Is something we should probably save for later. And the simple fact is in certainly over fifty percent of the games. The rapids are playing. They will be playing a player. They will be playing a team. That has a player who will be able to do that. Carlos vela sheets retail if the first two games of his twenty twenty one are to be believed railroad as the rapids do not have that defacto decent opportunities little bit of space low g. That guy finishes that opportunity you know the majority of the time that ultimately ends up deciding the game the rapids right now. Do not have that player. It's unlikely that anybody currently on the roster is going to become that it's unlikely they will be signing somebody of that. That will bring the quality that dominguez brought on saturday in the summer. Last thing i'll say mark it was initially really unnerving for me like have actual sounds and like you know. An ecosystem of people reacting. Who's ause and the cheers. It actually happened in the game. It was welcomed back but certainly weird given all the games that i watched that were basically training matches in terms of the people on the bench being allowed us people that we actually had a dc for a couple of games last year. So i welcomed back the rest of the burgundian blue humidity on saturday and it was so it was wonderful and shocking to see the reverse that actually on that to that continuing awfully with a higher capacity and eventually the full eighteen thousand zero six one uh seats that are available for selling on. And i think if we if that continues to be the case mark and we're gonna have more of a twelfth man than we've had been certainly the rapids had last year without any fans in attendance other than that for some listeners. This coming sunday may second twenty one. The colorado rapids will be heading to rio tinto stadium not for a rocky mountain cup match. But you take on the vancouver whitecaps. "It was a two loss in which there were some really good individual at time phases of play performances from verde. And we can't ignore the fact that this is the team. They're not in order to keep that relationship tenable but in any case mark exciting team that has aspirations to be a superclub. They've got a decent head coach. You can grow into that role. They've really interesting tactical idea. That is a work in progress. But there's a lot of really good progress that was made in preseason that was evident in the gaming. It's elliot see. Report: Redskins' minority owners threaten to sell
"So the big debate was going on this weekend about. The Washington football team right and their new nickname, so if you don't know what's happening, the Washington redskins are probably going to change their name Adam schefter reporting that Fedex basically said all right enough is enough. Three of the minority owners which own forty percent of the team had told Daniel Snyder. They're out if he doesn't do it Nike has put pressure on them, so it's now happening. Ron, Rivera has finally put some pressure on them and by the way all the stuff. Did you see what Jeanie Buss tweeted about this greg? Now what she's saying. She was on July second, so it was right before the weekend and I re tweeted it for those that didn't get a chance to see as you can. you can see it at Sodano. And I thought. She made an unbelievably compelling argument. I thought it was fantastic on her part. It was talking about at the time. Nike and Fedex and Pepsi. Ties with Washington. And, she wrote the argument I've heard. is about the argument for keeping the name? Quote if we changed the team's name. We lose our history. My reply, and by the way she's right. That's what most people are saying. which is kind of silly, but I thought she surmised they're perfectly. Jeanie, said my reply. It's human beings. She writes in capital letters who created the memories and won the game's not a logo. She wrote in caps. A change in name will not alter what art monk Dexter. Manley Darryl. WHO's a better player see? That's a tricky one. Because I know how you want to play this out that you can score goals and a few years that he went from Westhampton via but where was where was Gatos Vela before a major league soccer. What would they say? What were they saying about him? Coming to major league soccer when this was was going about they were saying he's washed wisely going major league soccer. It's another failure. It's a step down all the same things we're seeing about this and what happened. Got Vela regained form in major league soccer and now the national team wants him back. Now everybody's talking about Godzilla. Hey even the loan was looking at those well. WHO's to six can't do the same she genital? After all is a goal score something that has never been known to Quite be and he's also the bigger player as far as star power. So so who is the better player. Now answer the question. That's so irrelevant. The better player now. TRAE dyson stepped on the field. So you have the the two and the tooth irrelevant to better player soccer. Those are apples to oranges. You should know better than this. You can't compare that league. The Premier Premier League two major league soccer. That's already losing three zero to me. Who's WHO's the best player today? Answer the question. Listen Got Bella is by far the most talented player of his generation talented. What a cop out? WHO's the best player today said? This is so ridiculous. What you're doing gene has been formed? been out of form in the Premier League Carlos. Nelson's better player Carlos Valet better players there yourself so because you know let me talk. You can't hear through that thick smoke that you're trying to let people smoke bombs thrown out. There has been there. You don't let's see it. So who's the better player. It's irrelevant a better player. Because it's gotTa be proven on the field because this is the one thing and you know this very very well you know this very well savvy. He coulda had to historic seasons. He could have been the best player last year as well as he could have done. This crazy amount of number thirty four goals I believe fifteen assists but but if in one season she has let's say more than twenty goals and lists that trophy kick does it matter what got it got. "News it's fair that's the right you have their hand up in fingers out and they'll say five they say five we have I I mean I it's tilting towards that player improves Bob trusts him that player goes out there that player play interested in Blackman say the name of Bachman in this game but he's a second year player he was drafted as a fullback he started as a centre back in the playoffs against lot Abrahama Vich and he was good we see for Dennis to close a became a part of Giancarlo gonzalves not one of them but you're already had seven centrebacks on the roster what we're going to do about him so I would be shocked to see five or six of these names even on the team next year then we saw in the starting lineup that frontline next year as Pavonis Alessandrini Cheeto in the middle of the scar one hundred fifty goals tonight's game on whether it was his last in the last quote it's not about money I have another two months that's on his contract we will see what happens Mike because it also sounds like it might be about that's the type of thing you say when you say if you want people to watch you pay me more money I don't think it is and from like he he didn't do the pre game interview with ESPN and he seemed a little not rattled but annoyed and tailored tweeted out and said one of the Galaxy Representative said he's been like this all week I think some people took that as he's locked in but I took it as he's just kind of a bit annoyed with hall thing and the way maybe the season's gone and you could say there's a million arguments you can make a million different directions one is he's done everything he can the team hasn't put a team around him why should he spend more time trying to make this better you could also say that he came inside concord he didn't win a championship but he's been one of the three best scores in the league over the last two years after he blew out his knee and came back in a new place and did all that so nothing would surprise me but if you're let me to put a guess on somewhere I'd say he's not playing soccer next I got well it I think you're wrong about that but anyway I gotta ask you this what grade do you give Garam Barrow Scarlata for this year now there are extenuating circumstances those circumstances there's lots on anytime you are managing a team was slapped on that is a very very real I'm going to say it's a limiter on what you can do do both with Latin in with the players around now I would not give him any higher than a B minus I think why I think his job was to to construct something behind slot on that wasn't just a complete seve and it was just you had to find a way Eh get some semblance of organisation you had enough especially when pavone came in special players to do a three man game and attacking sense it can work was Unin pavone and fill in the blank even if it's early on tuna in major league soccer you just have to find a way to get your bit-part players of the guys that you picked up have you don't fit for Denison closer maybe we'll never be back but who cares it might be last year the galaxy you gotTa Win some symbols of Organization and structure and competence see defensively to get a better than a B minus grade in this sense he's inexperienced coach he's done before he's been in shaping which I know he's had more talented at Boca Juniors he's played in this league the crew when he played for them if I remember correctly you were not some expansive team he was a difference maker he made the Batak around him better it was down four four one one he played completely free role they had Allie Marino as as a centre forward just dragging defenders around it just to open it you had an opportunity to Kinda almost two structures one is Latin and whoever the hell is up there and the rest is the rest of the team guys just dig in Yeah figure it out getting your blocks don't teams have easy goals and this team I'm GonNa make a guess other than FC Cincinnati probably gave up the most like Oh my God what goals are you kidding me right now that's what how did that happen I agree with you I think it'd be minus is probably a good grade yeah probably for what's going on and I I love Guillermo so for Sir I felt bad going in part of this lots conversations I'm fascinated to see what he does Latin doesn't return like water the allegations he looks like under his vision the way he builds after that a little bit of time but I don't know that he was that creative with formations to say like I gotta figure something out we'll make the post is in but here's my four weeks test this and here's my two weeks attest this and I think in places you mentioned for Bob Rally a young guy will learn and get better where did we see that right who Leonora who played well and then all of a sudden Ralph John Fletcher's the difference maker now John Carlos Gonzales is you're right back the he had three incredible central midfielders they could never really control games like why was that night the tiger let's just see if we can get our foot on the ball on that will be our defending is well control games so grew with we I think a lot of it unfortunate wasn't good enough from him but it'll be interesting to see in year two if he doesn't have slots on how he chooses to play how his team you can kind of understand why it was in some ways because it was like the island of misfit toys and a lot of all these different teams that failed and then they come in you have Gonzaga on your Guy Z.? You lose all of a sudden you have expectations that are always over the maybe the capability of the team especially this era where they've been to close at one year I think you've got to start judging my next especially there's lots on you but you better have had a plan and I expect they do we'll see what that plan is before we move onto union Atlanta to know what you think about Bradley's Will Fang his little spots are who I really respect as a journalist I loves me I think he does a great job I think he's the future broadcasting US bilingual aspect of it with Mexico and the US and legal maximum loss be mashed up into one place he was very dominated his questioning about Carlos Vela and whether Carlos Villa had finally stepped up in a big game and Bob was incredulous and perhaps rightly so in the moment What do you think what do you think it was one person's job to ask obvious questions that everyone in the world is thinking it's another person's set up there to answer those questions I don't think anything that are asked was ridiculous I mean he asked the question he has and he asked the question everyone else and he asked actually and he's set bob up to say there's no chance anyone could say what you just said anymore he was phenomenal tonight he's been phenomenal season he's EP of major league soccer he's the best player this league's ever seen and he's going to go in and MLS Cup yeah it was that simple but it was fun the way it happened Bob a stupid Bob knows a good. TV's Bob knows everybody in that locker room is going to see that see him sticking up four to see him sticking up for for his best player the heartbeat of the team many messy the MLS messy like I I'm not saying like I I'm certain Bob's emotion in that moment because you could see he loves Carla I'M CERTAIN THAT EMOTION and was real but I'm all I think it was somewhat calculated for the to to make that a moment say like see they're always going to be asking this about what s let's go kick set go Seattle's as was win MLS Cup show every let's shut everyone up forever that's what that was I like it if that's what it was I like it I enjoyed it he's like look there's an ESPN ESPN notification that goes out after that you don't see that for they get that for the win I don't think like let let's just if that's what it takes man like you have all the historical rancid it's out there but you know how I feel about this league sometimes flavor man give me some flavor and Bob Bradley absolutely did Elliot C are moving on their the low number one seed remaining they just got to win one game and if they do that most couple in Los Angeles at Bank of California Stadium talk about it on Monday because we're that's the nice thing is Monday comes and we can really dive into Seattle L..
