So back in day when I started like I said, it was such a small pool of people that were practising jujitsu and everything. Everybody was so, uh, influenced by Mm. That it was two things when you when you first walked in through the door, one of the first things that people would ask you. It's like Oh, when, when, When are you fighting when you want to fight? And the second question work? Yeah, And the second thing is like instructor would walk in and be like Oh, big dude. Huh? Cool. Have somebody like spar with And and I think those are those are too crazy. Uh, ideas that you know, are not around anymore, like people shake their heads. But, you know, hearing the stories, and the reason for that is Um, number one. I'm coming to learn without having the stress of like, already been booked in a card. Six months from now. Um, but but at the same time, I think like a really good developed instructor. It doesn't really look at a students as training partners. Some will eventually develop into training partners. But they're your students, you know, end with the students. You have to guide them. And their students that have sufficient knowledge to practice. Um even deviate from what you're teaching, you know, based on what they're already pursuing their own private time, with so much information out there on the Internet. But there's those guys that just don't have the funds. The fund Foundation, right. You know, those are the guys that you have to pull in and say, Okay, you guys don't get to spar because you're going to do a lot of nothing. And you're going to be number one. Because you're going to get hurt. You're going to develop an ego, which is right, which is detrimental to training. Um and number three, Um, you're not growing as a practitioner. So those are the guys. They sometimes you got to sit down. And, uh, kind of guide him a little bit more, you know? Mm. You know, it's funny because I had one of my black belt over for lunch right now, and we're talking about another student, and he was like, man someone so he's so calm. And he's like, how do you get it? How'd you get him to calm him down? And it's that simple. I used to tap for him and the because this guy was super tough man. You would catch him something. You was the number he wouldn't tap. He would wiggle Poppet latest arm pop until got out. You would catch him in a choke and he would just grind his teeth until your grips got sword and And you would let go. You know that kind of deal. And then so we started dealing with this guys. I started tapping for him. So he'll be in mid role, you know, and you would catch him something I would say tap. He would look at me, Coach. I didn't tap and I said no, but you don't have an answer for what he's doing. Do you be like, Well? No. And I said, Okay, then tap. Oh, wow! Figure it out, have an answer for what he's doing. So that toughness is not an answer, You know, right? And that helps because that prevents his injury prevents prevents an injury. But it also like later on what he did is that he would come back and say, well, Tired. He was stopping my matches from this position. And you show me what I'm missing here. Yeah, Absolutely. A lot of times. You want to show them They're like, Sure, you know, Watch me be this tough. Fighter, you know, and that's where the eagle comes. Yeah, I think that's where the problem is because I try to push it as a law enforcement. Um Agencies to say Hey, you know, get this type of training. Get some type of training, right? Um You get this young guys come in from the field and everybody starts telling stories, and they're like, uh, got in a fight today, right? And you're like, No, I was there. That was not to fight the guy tensed up. Or he pulled away. You dumped them, And then you put them back in handcuffs or you you were able to restrain him. And then that's it, you know, or this guy through, you know, I Defensive resistance elbow. You got to throw some strikes, and then you put him in handcuffs, and that's it. That is not a fight. You know that that is resisting. But ultimately, a real fight is, um.
