"Rockies the rockies finished 43 games out of first place in 2022 with a 68 and 94 record. Colorado needs to find some traction in an increasingly competitive national league west landscape. At the moment, it's unclear how that could happen. Newcomers. Colorado picked up some leftovers in free agency. The rockies signed reliever Brad hand to one year contract in a recent days they added veteran infielder Mike Moustakas to play second and he's going to have to play following the crushing season ending shoulder injury to Brendan Rodgers, who was arguably Colorado's best position player last season. Gone, but not forgotten. Carlos estevez, a solid and reliable reliever departed for nice money with the angels getting 13.5 million over two years. Break out star, the rockies are ready to commit playing time to shortstop, Ezekiel tovar, who was ranked as the number 35 overall prospect by ESPN's Kylie mcdaniel. Tovar 21 thrived in the miners in 2022, graduating from double-A and triple-A, where he batted three 19 and 71 games, and had a handful of plate appearances in the big leads in September. He hits for power. He runs and he's likely to be a candidate for nationally rookie of the year. Fault lines. The rocky signed Chris Bryant to a 7 year $182 million contract in year one was, without a doubt, a disaster. Bryant Steele shocked many other teams because of his injury history and in 2022, he played in only 42 games, hitting 5 homers, incredibly, Brian is still looking for his first course field home run in Iraqi's uniform. In a 111 plate appearances at home last season, he drove in a total of 5 runs. Brian is the highest paid player in the team and captain hobbies would tell you if the rockies had any chance to climb into the upper Echelon, the national league west, they

"How is that group performing and what are your expectations for when we might see some of those guys? I know that so soft, I think, has debuted, but what is the current state of that group? Jesus. So when yes, it's just so simple in time. Yeah, that is a lot of name. Say a 20 times in a row. Yeah, that was an aggressive, that was a very aggressive call. I mean, he was the first player that was drafted in 2021 to even make the major leagues and you have to consider the fact that he was 11th round pick. I mean, the way the angels kind of maneuver their drafts, the last couple of years under Perry. Under slot early on, and then pick and choose their spots later in the draft where maybe they thought some got some guys who maybe thought they were getting bypassed or weren't maybe going to sign. They will draft them and then pay way over. And they've done that a couple times. And I think Jay silver was an example of that. And he's made the major leagues, but you know, it hasn't been, I mean, to be quite honest with you. I mean, I don't think it was everything's gone perfectly from that draft. I mean, same bachmann had a very difficult season last year. He was the number one overall or not. It was their number one pick and the tenth overall. And it wasn't, you know, he had two major back injuries that kept him out for quite a while, and you know, reportedly he's got his velocity back when he did come back last year's velocity was way down and that was concerning. He supposedly got it back, you know, pitching the fall has done some good stuff over the off season. So we'll see with him. I mean, you know, the question is can he start at the major league level? Is he going to be a reliever? And you know, as he get healthy enough, I mean, I think the way that his pro start has kind of gone, you know, you pay a lot of money for someone that you have a lot of questions about. I think ky Busch had a good year, but again, I mean, similar situation where he wasn't, you know, I think able to go full go all the time. I mean, you look at his box scores, there's a lot of short outings, a lot of skip starts, you know, it's tough to tell if he was if he's kind of having the overall performance that maybe they would have thought he could have as an early second rounder. The angels were talking about how they thought he could have been a first rounder. They were surprised he fell to them. So there's some players that are doing well. I mean, they've had a couple relievers like Luke Murphy, 14th rounder Eric Torres, who are doing well, you know, that maybe could you can see them major leagues at some point fairly soon. But as a whole, I mean, I don't think it's been a great start for that class. And we'll see what happens with Phil Seth. I mean, you know, right now, probably the best chance of playing in the major leagues and playing their consistently. He was really good at his debut and he was really good in like a thirst three innings of every game he pitched and then he would just completely fall apart at the fourth just could not see a line up the second time through and maybe he got a little fatigued or whatever it might have been, but if he kind of works through that, I mean, he could be a very good major league starter. So we'll see. I mean, there's a lot of potential still. I don't think you could write off players that we saw from that draft, but it hasn't gone exactly according to plan, at least not as of yet. Yeah, they could use some help with some of those guys coming along even as bullpen depth because unlike the rotation, the bullpen was not a strength last season. It was one of the worst ones at least going by fangraphs war and there was somewhat surprising right so Iglesias trade. So they've brought in Carlos estevez, this winter, there are a couple other moves, is there any reason to think that this will be a stronger unit than last season to us? Yeah, I mean, you know, maybe it's, like you said, it wasn't a very, I mean, listen, I go back and I look at this rice ala Iglesias trade and I think what were they doing? I mean, that was a bad trade. You know, maybe if they needed really needed to dump the salary, but I don't know if that was done with the sale in mind or what, because rice all Iglesias was electric for the braves and the angels got back, Jesse Chavez, who pitched like for a week for them and then went back to the braves. And then they also got Tucker Davidson, who was quite bad. We'll see if he ends up staying quite bad, but he was not good. So they basically had nothing in return, and they could really use him right now, you know, I don't know if they'd want to have a $60 million on the books, but you know, they certainly could use them in the bolt then. So yeah, Carlos estevez, I mean, it's probably going to be their closer, you know, they don't have a lot of guys to throw fast. I think with the Stephen it'll be interesting because if you look at his numbers kind of beyond just the overall numbers, I mean the way he splits in the home at home and road, I mean, some of his best off speed pitches did not see pictures typically play very well in the altitude in Colorado, soda. He's, you know, he's going to be in California where I think some of what he can do will really be accentuated. And obviously he throws the ball hard on the upper 90s. So he'll probably get a chance to close, be that odds on favorite, but you know, it'll be, I'll be curious to see how they use Jose. Jimmy her get Jimmy or get my favorite player on that team. Just awesome. Just a fun, funny, funky dude. But yeah, they're bullpen was not very good. I mean, I think a lot hinges on the reliability of Aaron loop and Ryan taper. You know, they were healthy, but Aaron loop was not a good year last year. Let me tell you the same thing. It was rough. Good first 6 weeks, like everybody else, and then it just fell off a cliff. You know, Ryan taper, I was pretty good, but there were certain outings where, you know, quite bad as well. So he was fine. I mean, there's he worth the 7 million. He's paying him.

"So really, like comparing Tyler Anderson to similar players and the deals they got and then comparing hunter Renfro to what outfielders were going for or even like Carlos estevez, right? A lot of people are quite high on and think he'll be better outside of Colorado and they seem to get him at quite a reasonable rate too. So the angels, they just did a lot of good work and also there's a lot of humor potential in the hunter refrigerator. Oh, we forgot the transaction that will result in the most direct on roster resemblance, which is the Rogers is. Oh yeah, of course. Being in the same bullpen, Ben, we've been remiss. Yes, we have good point of glad you mentioned that. Yeah, that has a ton of fun potential too. Ton of fun potential. Can't wait. I liked the other Contreras brother transaction to the cardinal signing Wilson Contreras to a 5 year deal, which seemed like roughly the kind of contract that he should command, but I just, I like that they just went for it like melina retires. How do you replace Yadier Molina? I mean, you don't really the hearts of Cardinals fans, but on the field you can at least late career Molina. And they went with a different kind of guy. I mean, Contreras, he has his defensive skills, certainly. But he is not a defense first catcher. He's just one of the better hitting catchers in baseball, which Molina has never been or has rarely been. That wasn't really his skill set, but they went out and got a marquee guy, like maybe the best free agent catcher, at least available, and that's good because it's extremely tough act to follow and not that contributor is going to immediately make people forget out of your Molina, but I think relative to the diminished version of Yadier Molina who was still a sentimental favorite and maybe brought some intangibles and all of that. But in terms of the offense, at least in the value we can quantify, was not the best late in his career. It's a might be a pleasant surprise in some ways to shock to the system to have anyone butt Marina back there, but to have it be contrived and have him be raked in national back there that should be pretty fun. And you get to deprive a direct division rival of his services too, right? And take him away from the cops. I think sort of sweet and that deal. Plus if we do get robo ups at some point during the life of that contract, then perhaps he looks even better at that point. So I thought that was a smart signing. Yeah, I like that one a lot too. That's a good one. And lastly, I thought that the Noah cinder guard. Sign it. Had a lot to recommend it 'cause that was a one year, I think, $13 million deal with the Dodgers, and again, like, look at the comps for noise and guards. Like, even coming off of Tommy John surgery and not pitching a ton of innings and having diminished stuff. He was still a pretty productive starter. I mean, he was still like at least a league average starter. And like compare his stats to say jamison tie on stats slash. Were they that different? No, not really. And yet he got a one year deal center card did and Michael renzan didn't get much less from the tigers than cinder guard cut from the Dodgers. And center guard like even if he doesn't regain his old self and his old stuff, like if he just kept pitching like he did last year, I feel like that would be a real steal for Los Angeles. And they really needed a starter, arguably they still do, but having leave in Anderson leave like they really needed someone and they brought back Clayton Kershaw, but everyone in that rotation has some health and or effectiveness question marks associated with them. So they needed kindergarten and he seemed to evolve when he was with the Phillies. He was pitching better at least peripherally and he made some changes to his pitch mix and started throwing his sinker more in his slider and it seemed like, okay, this is a good path forward for him. So now the Dodgers get to enjoy that. If he persists in that course, but really like relative to some of the other deals that mid rotation type guys got this winter long-term deals, I thought that was a pretty effective one from the Dodgers perspective and syndergaard wanted to be a Dodger again. This is like the Dodgers development advantage, right? Like they can get good deals on guys like this because there's this track record of them making players better. So cinder guard said as much when he signed, he was like, I feel like everything that they touch turns to gold who said what they did with he last year and Tyler Anderson, I definitely want to be in that category. So he's looking at that lineage and saying, hey, the Dodgers can make me better. So yeah, I'll sign a one year deal with them, you know? Like, would he have signed that same deal with another organization? Probably not, probably not every other organization, but he's thinking they'll make me better and then I can cash in next winter. So you sort of see that paying dividends for the Dodgers, not only are they able to sometimes spin straw into gold when it comes to players who don't have high expectations, but then they can also get themselves some steals on the free agent market because players want

"Yeah, I mean, it's a record setting contract, average annual value for a position player and you might think, well, it must be a short term deal if someone is breaking the AAV record and getting $40 million here, but no, it's not, but that's okay because Aaron judge in the Yankees, the sort of player and team that should be getting record contracts, right? So it is striking that I believe to this point in his career, Aaron judge has made 39 and a half $1 million. Yeah. He will basically be making that much every year for the rest of his career. That's how baseball contracts work. So he has been way underpaid relative to his production to this point in his career, and he may be a bit overpaid relative to the production, the rest of his career, at least on the backside, but that's all right. And by the way, according to zips and Dan's post there, it's not like a wild overpay even by dollars per war projection. Without accounting for just the funny money that we're seeing tossed around this off season just based on zips projection, like it had him at something like 311 million, I think it was. So, you know, that's not really that much of a premium, especially considering, as you said, just any ancillary marquee value that the Yankees get from Aaron judge just being a superstar in the face of their franchise and their new captain, it sounds like whatever that's worth. But it's worth something to somebody. So there you go. I don't know. I wonder if the Padres offered to make him their captain. Come on in. You could be captain. Whatever. Sure. That might be how did the tamer things AJ pro were offered? Yeah, sure. We'll call you whatever you want. In general, president, you can just name your position as long as you want, get the big beard. Oh wow, Aaron judge with a beard. That would be wild. Anyway. So that's Aaron judge. That's the big news. And we'll just run through the rest here. I do want to talk about or touch on the insider report that dropped because that was Aaron judge adjacent. And that came out during the arson judge madness and everything else. I wonder if they wish they had saved that story for a different day when there was a little less news, but that's Aaron judge related. I have a few thoughts on that, but I'll save it for the end maybe just so we can run through these transactions. And I guess if we want to segue to something related, we could just briefly discuss the year because the Giants did get one right handed hitting early 30s outfielder, just not the number one that they wanted. But Mitch henker to the Giants for three years, 43 and a half $1 million with an opt out after the first two years. So that's also more than I think I would have expected. Which had occur to get seems like a pretty reasonable fit for the Giants and you know he's a good defensive outfielder when he's on the field and he hits lefties and they need those things and he's fairly good fit for the park from all appearances. So whenever he's been on the field, he's generally been good and he finished the season pretty strong, but yeah, I mean coming off of his myriad injury woes, which hopefully are not things at least for the most part that will be repeated for his sake at least. But even coming off of this past season he played 57 games and he was okay. He wasn't great. He finished well, I believe. But, you know, you would not necessarily think that entering his age 32 season he would be in line for this kind of contract, I guess, but I suppose that his way. You took the under and Richard's prediction as well. Sorry, Mitch. I mean, I'm happy to be wrong for both of these. Right. Yeah, that's the thing. I mean, so here's just a quick summary bringing everyone up to date on the free agent contracts over under draft. So it was going great, as I said. So you had the over on Zac eflin at a predicted 22 million, according to MLB trade rumors, so easily exceeded that. Yeah, good for me. Yeah, and then you took the under on Andrew heaney at a predicted 42, and that worked out for you too. Not for Kenny, but he signed with the rangers for 25 million over two. So so far so good, you also took the under on Justin Verlander at one 20. So that's a oh, that was a big one for me. It was because you bet on him not getting the third guarantee I did. And he did not. He did not. So yeah, so far, you were right on the money. And I was two, and then things fell apart a little bit for you. Just in the last day. Yeah, you had the under judge on three 32. And then you had the under on Hannah at 39, so that was a close one, but went the wrong way. But yeah, so you were on a roll there, but the streak was snapped. And then as for me, I'm still doing well here. I had the over on Tyler Anderson at the qualifying offer amount, and he signed for 39. And then I had the under on Josh bell. We'll talk about that. So that was one of my, I think that was my first pick. I felt strongly about that one because I'm a betrayed rumors had him at a $64 million prediction and I did not think he was going to get that much and he did not. He got 33 for the guardians over two years. And then I took the under on Carlos estevez at 21 million, so he just snuck under there at 14. And finally, I think I took the over on Wilson Contreras who maybe we'll talk about next. And they had him at 84 and he signed with the Cardinals for 87 and a half over 5 years. So that's just almost a coin flip there. Just squeaked on the right side of things for me and for Wilson Contreras. So that's where we stand. But we were doing all right there. And even though you'd think that probably taking the over would have been the safer pet given how this market has gone, I guess that is true, but we've both hit on some as well. So I think we're doing decently. Anyway, Hannah, you've gotten to see a good deal of him with the Mariners. Yeah. Hoping for better health for him and I guess that is essentially the whole story of why they want him and whether it will work out is whether he's on the field. Yeah, I think that this is like a really, this is just like a really excellent pairing of player and team. I think that Ben Clemens touched on this one. He wrote it up for us today. At VIS, but like, you know, you think about the Giants and or at least this version of the Giants and the things that they have proven themselves to be particularly adept at. And one of those things is playing matchups and rotating guys with an obvious desire to both optimize their lineups against not just handedness, but particular pitches and pitch locations and what have you. And also to keep guys fresh and healthy, which was I imagine a particular necessity in 2021 when their entire lineup was made up of guys RH, that's not quite true, but it was close, right? And so they're really good at that. And then you think about Hanukkah and to your point sort of how he is likely to play in that ballpark, how he is likely to supplement a lineup that in addition to some of the nifty match up stuff that the Giants do is pretty left handed heavy. And while he's not great in the field at this point, he is serviceable and I think better to some of their other options. This allows Jack Peterson to play a DH play at DH that makes it sound like he's sort of like flirting with it or like faking it. It allows him to DH, there we go. More often a pedantic discussion of whether you play DH because you're not actually in the field. I think we agreed that you do. So yeah. But it allows Jack to DH and I'm sure we'll cycle through there as is needed to keep himself fresh. So I think it's a really nice pairing. It is funny and Ben made note of this as well. We spent all this time thinking like, oh, going back to the Bay Area would be such a huge draw for judge, and maybe that was a drop but ultimately not the prevailing one, but like hannigan is a Bay Area native too.

"Gotta say, I feel pretty good about our conversations we had on the podcast yesterday because we talked about Justin Berliner in the mets and right after we got done taping the podcast, that happened two years, $86.6 million, and Dave Shaw and Phil and I were in total agreement that trade Turner would go to the Phillies and that happened. 11 years and $300 million. You know buster, the one thing that I don't like about working in podcasting is that lack of immediacy. So we're done. This news breaks. I'm about to put the show out. I start scrubbing through to like, I couldn't quite remember what you guys said about the Phillies in the Met so when I was like, oh, they nailed it. Okay, this is fine. And because we are hardworking podcasts, we're back at it today to actually discuss it. So if you were listening to your like, oh, this is a little dated, trust us. We got your back. Yep, that's a 100% right. And I would tell you this, the trade Turner signing in a landing with the Phillies for $300 million might not be the most interesting thing that happened in the trade Turner bidding. And we're going to get into that with Paul and McKee's coming up. There's a really interesting fact that we learned about how that played out that's going to have a major ripple on the market for the rest of the winter time. All right, some other moves yesterday, the angels made an aggressive move in the bullpen market signing reliever, Carlos estevez, to a two year 13 and a half $1 million deal. The Dodgers formally announced they have re signed left hander Clayton Kershaw for 2023 for $20 million, Yankees fans are waiting for news about Aaron judge and what they got yesterday was news from the Yankees that they have re signed general manager Brian cashman to a four year contract. That is not a surprise. Taylor, what else you got? Buster, you know, over here at ESPN podcast, we have the hoop collective with Brian windhorst. We've got the low post with Zach Lowe. Now we have the CJ McCollum show with CJ McCollum, New Orleans, pelican star, you're only going to get his perspective on this podcast from his time on the court in the locker room. It's all good stuff. Check out the CJ mccomb show wherever you listen to your podcasts. Jumping into the numbers. This is himbo nose on baseball tonight. Ambo of course is

I mean, they couldn't make movies fast enough. And, you know, which is why so many of them are forgettable. I was very fortunate to be in movies that have lasted throughout cross generation. You probably get asked this all the time. Do you have favorites? Was their favorite experience in filming, whether it was saint almost fire or rat pack or excuse me, Breakfast Club, or I mean, you know what I'm saying? That looked to us to be so much fun. "All right, for my 6th pick, I will take the over on former effectively wild guest strictly at two years and 18 million. He's coming off a nice year. He's hitting free agency at the right time. And he's just he's kind of a good guy to have a rent. A nice sort of swing man type. He can be a credible starter. He can work in relief, like he's coming off a year with a three ERA and a fip right in that same range and that just like he's pretty solid. He's pretty dependable, like he's durable ish. He doesn't have huge innings totals because he has been in relief sometimes, but generally good dependable starter and I think probably could have started more for other teams, you know, like he was with the Dodgers for years when they just had a lot of pitching generally and he's only 32, I guess he's about to turn 33 later this month and just kind of like in the Tyler Anderson school of like I think he could do a little bit better than sub 20 million if he wanted to. So yeah, I don't know, I don't think he'd exceed it by a ton, but I could see some team going over 18 for him, which is all I want at this stage of the draft. Yeah, that seems reasonable to me. All right. Man, some of these reliever productions they have on here. I don't know if I want to monkey with that. I don't know if I want to mess with that, but I gotta mess with somebody, Ben. Yeah, two more. I'm gonna take the over on Zac eflin. Ah, okay. Yeah, consider that. Two years and 22 million. I think we're playing with small money here. So I don't think he's going to sign like a $100 million deal or anything. He obviously has had injury issues. He has been solid but not spectacular in the course of his career and I get the sort of uncertainty when it comes to the role he obviously pitched very well out of the bullpen. Or pitch well out of the bullpen for the Phillies when he came back from injury because they wanted to manage him carefully given the injury history he would make more money if he can start but sort of like stripling. There seems like there's some versatility there. And the thing about it is that everybody needs pitching and they need like solid and reliable pitching. And so if you think that his health woes are behind him and that he can either be like your number four or be a guy who pitches better than he starts out of the bullpen, then maybe a pain a little bit more than $22 million. So I'm taking the over on Zach, F one, who I always want to call. I either want to call him Zac Efron or I assume that I'm misremembering his first name because ethylene and Efron kind of sound alike, but whatever his name is, I think he'll maybe more than $20 million. Yep, I consider that one. All right, for my penultimate pick, I will take the under on Carlos estevez. Yeah, that was one of those pictures. I was like, three years and 21 million. I had to confirm that I knew who Carlos Steve has was. I'm sorry, rocky's feds. But he hasn't been a particularly distinguished, you gotta course adjust a little bit, obviously. And you know, like he throws hard, but who doesn't these days in the back of a bullpen? And, you know, without park adjusting, like he's never had a sub four 5th and he's pitched exclusively out of the bullpen. So I'm just not really bowled over. I guess he'd presumably will be a bit better away from Colorado and maybe miss some more bats, but for like a weight inning type he just seemed sort of generic. So I guess they're just other relievers with lower projections who seem more impressive to me, I guess, part ways that he's 29, but I don't know if he's like a candidate for a very long-term deal anyway. So yeah, Carlos is Deb is. I think that's a good pick. Because I wouldn't be surprised if there are teams out there that are like, we can probably help this guy figure stuff out more. But the thing is you don't pay a premium for those guys coming out of Colorado. So, you know, that's the thing about them. All right, last pick for you. This is my last pick. God, how are we going to value catchers, you know? Like, how are we even going to think about them as a kind of player? I'm trying to balance obvious positional scarcity with the not actually a good hitter of it all. Relative good hitter orbital, but not actually a good header of it all. Maybe I just think that this projection is like right on the money. Maybe I think that. Maybe I don't though. I think I'm going to take the underground Christian Vasquez. Okay.

He didn't want to walk him, and instead Leo's Diaz takes him out. 43, Colorado So right away, the Giants were trailing again, and, uh, little did not allow anything. Anything more after that, and then Tony Watson well rested, retired the side in order in the seventh inning and then Tyler Rogers, although he gave up a double to that man again, Alias Diaz with one out in the eighth inning. He got through that without any further damage, and the Giants were still down 4 to 3. They had not had any more hits since that sixth inning when they had initially tied the game as they came up in the ninth inning. But in the ninth, Buster Posey And it was Carlos Estevez, who came in as the closure, not barred, who had been the Iraqis closer these last couple of years and a guy that there perhaps grooming to be their closer. "So for next year. I'd say he's going to need to show us something and if it doesn't happen in the minors maybe late cup of coffee with them. It has to be in spring training. I'm not sure he's draftable in anything. But i think now manual clause as a top ten closer for next year and korean jackson. Draftable and i. I couldn't have seen this coming. I mean he was walking people cringe. Jack was but i mean to see this coming to this degree and then they demoted him. One thing that demo-democrat bom. I'm all for that. He can't hit or field but once you know he had he had like five straight good outings then he had a bad one and that was it though he was way more than that though he had the start. The air twenty one appearances to begin the year old forty four. A thirty eight k seven walks in twenty third inex- that was his first nearly two months of the year. This guy was amazing at one point and if he can get things straightened out that's what he is and the problem is for drafts. I bet people are going to look at that and expect that. That's closer to the expectation is tonight at. Yeah like still. He's the only pitcher in baseball was seven wins in eleven saves many strikeouts like he's like fifth in the majors and strike as among relievers. And what. I'm what i meant to say was he. He had a full like week or so or two weeks where he was fine and then he had a bad outing against boston and that was like four consecutive scoreless outings. Then they demoted him. After one bad outing and i'm saying yay recent murders saying the thing that amaze me how how quickly that contract i mean even the one i just said she had no walks in eleven appearance stretch earlier without walk. Seems i don't know. I i don't know i just. It just surprised me a little bit but the bottom line here is relief. Pitchers are poor keepers dynasty and otherwise. You know obviously josh hater. Maybe a little different but liam hendriks is allow double digit home runs stack. Blow up any minute. Just be careful here. Like you like joe barlow today but he may not be closing tomorrow. That's bad example. I mean like barlow's a little different. Yeah by the way you mentioned is as causes. No guarantee as dynasty closer to that point you said i had tenth i believe the tenth reliever was like two hundred and fortieth in my overall ranking so like barely draftable if you're building from scratch which demonstrates all you need an about really jack number one you at korean check one sixty one and your dynasty ranks and it wasn't wrong okay. That's that's for a tenth closer. Yeah i think he was a number eight closer anything going on that. We need to talk about among other closers. Because i'm not see in barlow is back. Then he had a terrible adding last night Saint louis is going. Jim your vanni. I would drop. Alex rodriguez in any format. Right now redraft or keep hit a decent meaningless game if i recall. I think it was yesterday right Biogas is closer. I don't know why they would switch that at this point. Levino is dealing with something. They waited a week to tell us. It's back spasms. I don't know who gets the next oakland save. I do think trevino's still in play for same so i would not drop him I do agree with that. The only other one. I would raise to you while there's two actually looks like colorado's change their closer color has changed. I don't know if it matters. Do you think it does if you need every last save me. Carlos estevez is probably they're closer instead of daniel bard. Right isn't the worst mix in the world that team. That has an unusual home. Ballpark situation for pitchers that never wins games. I think that's a well. Colorado actually wins a lot of games at home. They're very. They're one of the best teams in baseball at home. And then in those games. You have horrible. Ballpark factor working against guys like carlos estevez. Who's not that raider. I mean he's good reliever but not a great relievers in his own. Step the to. I was going to mention cook notes. Are boston tampa situations. Well mean boston. Obviously they have a guy on the Cova lists than aubenas. The closer until born comes back but even when barnes comes back. I'm not sure it gets. The job is not pitching well opportunity for out of you know it also an opportunity for garrett whitlock to camera something down a big role. What did you wanna say about tampa. I mean kitsch what what is tampa activator. Any anything and everything. That's the whole thing you can't you. Can you roster kids not for the saves. for the good innings david robertson's go save chance within the next week. So what i was going to ask you is how many tampa bay relievers have saves at the end of the year. How many different guys. It's twelve right now. How many finishing. Well i mean robertson's clearly going to get one at some point. I who else is on the roster. That doesn't have one it can be seen as of jt wa doesn't have him. He's definitely getting one chance there shane. Sean armstrong doesn't have won a good for them. Man comedy pick on them. They made the world series last year. They can do it again..

And they did so. Hey kudos to the dodgers fans So is the wildcard out of reach for the colorado rockies the The short answer is yes absolutely there. Ten games back of the cincinnati reds. They would have to go on a streak. I mean that is just ridiculous but The dodgers reds padres and cardinals have all lost all lost over the weekend the rockies been six and four of the in the last ten the mets are struggling The phillies are kind of getting there. But yet they're probably out of it. They're probably out of it. The broncos ed third c- Preseason game on third and final preseason game on saturday. They go undefeated in the preseason. Can they keep it rolling now against the new york giants. That'll be their their first matchup in the regular season teddy. Teddy be teddy bridgewater going to be the quarterback for the denver broncos through nice little touchdown pass to portland sudden. It was great to see. Cortlandt sutton back A bag playing on the field and catching touchdowns so can can the broncos. Jump out a start. I really really obviously love their chances against new york giants. But what's next. what's in store. Can this team go on to do something. Great this season. I don't put a whole lot of stock in the preseason. I really don't i. Just i don't believe in it when you give these players no motivation. No reason to go out there. I don't think you can learn a whole lot now. There's a select few that you probably cam that are trying to make the team. But the broncos didn't lose one right. I have one last thing here. The sports world that i want to go on a kill off. Let's just call it how it is. I absolutely hate hate. Hate hate jake. And logan paul. I cannot stand these idiots. they're so dumb. But damn are they making a bunch of money and they're tougher than people. Give him credit for jake. Paul and logan paul. If you don't know who they are. They were youtube streamers. That rose to fame for why. They're not talented. But my goodness can they market themselves. And jacob logan paul now if you remember have been boxing. I don't even wanna say top tier athletes but yeah top tier athletes and they know that. The check's going to be so big. For example floyd mayweather box one of these foods. I don't even remember it was floyd. Said he didn't care one way or the other. If you wanna lost he was gonna make something like a hundred million dollars but it is just so annoying to me to see these guys box. These either washed up athletes like ben aspirin who was a terrible. Ufc fighter tyron woodley. Woodley was pretty good shape still but it's not. Mma in these guys are getting such big. Check that. I just want to know like i just love them to come clean and say hey this kind of like the wwe. It's fixed. it's a little bit rig. We already know the outcome. But you can't bet this loop pisses matvey you can't bet on. Wwe you can't lay a wager down now. Smart people like myself myself who sticks to and ping pong would never would never campbell a jake paul boxing match. But there's a lot of people out there and it makes no sense for something that we don't know for sure is an already fixed for you to be throwing your money at. But then again..

"Chris Taylor hit a pair of home runs before Will Smith provided a tie breaking glass in the eighth inning sending the Dodgers past the Rockies three to two Smith went deep off Carlos Estevez his third home run of the seven game homestand Taylor homered in the first and fifth innings giving him sixteen this season this week I'm just kind of in a good place and you know mechanically been pretty consistent and you know and the fastball slows down a little bit for me you know I usually get the breaking stuff better Phil Bickford worked a scoreless inning for the victory Joe Kelly pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save the LA bullpen worked five scoreless innings the Dodgers state two games behind the NL west leading giants I'm Dave Ferrie

"The hour. Welcome back we're live from the auto collision specialist studios joining me. Now drew crease men are rockies insider from dnv iraqis drew before we get into rockies. I owe you an apology. Okay i owe you a big friend. I made a suggestion to you a few weeks back about a show. You should watch. And it's called jupiter's legacy and i just found out Not long ago that they cancelled it. It's not make it into a second season. So i i may have put you on a path of watching something that will give you know true end. And i and for that i apologize. You don't want funny about that as we were literally about to start the show and we saw that news and we were. I think we're so we're gonna watch. Yeah you know. And they're like you know some of my favorites like firefly. Were you a firefly guy. I lose producers. Here's obsessed with it. Yeah like i. And i could see it being like that like i'll be very curious and like i've also heard some people say maybe they'll they'll pick it up and now i'm almost more intrigued by but we we definitely went in a different direction. We watch sweet tooth and stabbed on. We're gonna get to jupiter's eventually. So you're still okay. And i respect for that because sometimes when i am watching something or getting ready to wa- was swamp thing was was out hours ago and then i'm getting ready to watch and they said they weren't gonna do it anymore so i have a hard time because i wanna i wanna know. There's going to be at some point. There's going to be an end to what i'm seeing. But i mad props to you for that because that that takes that takes some skill some courage. My friends you know. I've i've had some favorite shows that ended after the first season. One of my favorite shows should have ended after first season and he rose goodness phenomenal. After that. I was like oh dude. That is one of those. I'll never forget. It had me hooked net flicks was still deliver an cds and so i remember waiting on the new desk. All i got. I got it and world and then it's like yeah. They came up with all these cool concepts and didn't know how to tie it all up and let's just do a bunch of time travel in the second one and see what happens rewrite everything. Let's do that. You know that's fine. Those were the days. My friend drew krugman joining us. Iraqis insider all right through the rockies. Were getting some some crazy momentum. Man they took care of the potter swept the padres. They started off grain against the birds. Came all the way back the other night. Count of fizzled at the end of these. These last two though. Yeah that was tough because the sweep of the entire home stand was right there for them. Basically if they make two or three more pitches in the series It it's also tough. Because the brewers have been the hottest team in baseball over the last four weeks. And you really didn't expect it even with the momentum that they had to beat him in the first two games with their two best pitchers on the mound and woodruff and burns. But you know yeah. They're playing good baseball. The that doesn't mean that all of the elements of the team that are you know without depth or top end talent or suddenly fixed. One of those losses comes when they're down to their fourth string closer and tyler kinley and even eat pitched pretty well Just one pitch that maybe caught a little more of the planning wasn't even a terrible pitch in willie adamas. It's a two run home. Run in the ninth inning. You tip your out. The other guys are paid a lot of money. My dad always used as big ku basketball guy. Who always say you know The boys on the other team are on scholarship to and so sometimes you gotta tip your cap and that was one of those the the you know like you said you're you're down six nothing you kind of expect to go okay. They're they're back to being a nice little john. But the real brewers of the real team the rockies or the fake team. there's gonna be a series three one series win Or i'm sorry they already had the split but you go there. They're splitting for sure. No way and then they they come back they score six runs in and they hit four home runs that right there. You know yeah. These guys is playing much much better brand of baseball at home. I think that's real. I think at some point it's going to translate to better momentum on the road. They're not going to suddenly become great. But i think they're going to be you know a decent ball club. I've been saying for quite a while. And after this rough star you know. I still think there around us seventy win team and people going yet. They are absolutely nuts. There's no way this team doesn't lose. One hundred games are gonna lose one hundred five games and you know the deeper we get into the season. That hundred loss season doesn't seem quite so inevitable you know. And then you look over at the arizona diamondbacks and you go. Oh wow the rockies. Don't even the worst team in their own division right much much better than the diamondbacks at this point. Then right i mean. And they're halfway there almost to that over under prediction. We went into the sixty. What is a sixty three sixty five. So i was going to ask you about that. If you went with the over on that you gotta be pretty pretty okay at least at this point. Yeah there are a couple of interesting. You know. Hurdles you gotta get past if you really if you wanna make your over on that because what happens if they trade trevor story patrick patrick lines and i on the pa. The dvr rodney's podcast the other day. We're having this conversation. 'cause the smartest thing to do actually from a long-term point of view right now and it's going to sound very strange but it's actually to trade all your good relievers may only have three good relievers. Everyone passed that is kinda but those three guys have quite a bit of value. Daniel bard michael givens and carlos estevez. You should probably trade at least two of those guys Because they're not going to be on contract through the future and you can get some nice young pieces that are that are going to help. But can you imagine the rockies bullpen. If you got rid of now just play for days man. That's where you'd be going. Eighty no anti well and again. We all know this season windsor. Need their neto at this point. Right getting over seventy five. It's cool but you should be using this season. Whatever that looks like for plans for next year and the year after that. I mean it's not. It's not about this season if you can win. Great maybe avoid. You know the the absolute dumpster fire that some fans thought it was going to be so that would be kinda cool for them but You know for the most part no. They're not they're not playing for anything real at this stage other than growth and development and future ideals of what this team could be right and this was always a conversation because again my part on the podcast wants to go full tank lose as many games as possible get the number one overall pick the whole nine and and i totally get that But i also think you know in baseball if he gets the third or fourth or fifth pick especially in these recent drafts. We saw the way zach sell to them last year So i feel like you've got plenty of opportunity to get some growth out of your young players it's gonna lead to some accidental wins. If you will accidentally sweeping the padres 'cause raimondo toppy is on fire and daza is doing his thing at the top and then you've got mcmahon with the big swings that are coming here and there Story working his way back into it. So when you have those guys and especially the pitching you know. I mentioned gonna burn how good. He's been lately tough on the i l. right this moment but it's You.

"Obviously we're gonna get a run through the of the sports world That will get to We'll also talk about the cdc. I am so ready to never hear from the cdc again. Like i don't ever want to hear them talk again. I'm just tired of it like dry wrong or indifferent. I'm just tired of judah. Shudo's cdc goes. Okay stop came. I appreciate your work. I do tired of hearing from you. let's see here one of the things that we got here. Let's see are excessive with flair poll question. Of course tell me you're from northern colorado without telling me your northern colorado the takes in ear the opposite of hawaii is not that bad because honestly say reminds me of growing up in abilene texas I see okay okay. We'll talk about it. We we talked more about the the level and police when they're mocking the dementia patients get a text. I just don't understand how these guys made a conscious decision a choice to behave this way especially with body cameras. It seems to be stretched a bit far like bad acting. Stop get your conspiracy theories out of here. Get your conspiracy theories out here. It's not bad acting. It's it's there's bad people out there. Sorry it there are bad people out there. This just happens to be one of them. They just happened to be a cop. We'll talk more about that coming up as well. Let's take a look around sports the colorado rockies about this team nine and fourteen right now fifth you know west but last lied they get their first win on the road and took them extra innings. This team they kept pulling ahead giving up a run pulling ahead giving up. And i was not even i was nervous in the top of the In the top of the tenth inning. it was A couple of back to back home runs from ryan with man and cj crow so they they was forty. Four heading into extra innings. Remember baseball now with their new rule has started a runner on second base so Ryan mcmahon hit a two run. Home run goes up sixty four. Cj crow up goes up seven. Four thing it's all said and done well. It wasn't The san francisco giants Buster posey with a single start. The sort the bottom of the tenth off but then The carlos estevez settled it. Strikes out gets a strike out and then a double play ball the iraqis hold on to win nine to four Excuse me seventy-five moving their aggregates to nine and fourteen one and seven on the road It was it was an interesting nine the office for a lotta rockies hitters trevor story over four with a walker to strike outs mcmahon. We just talked about his home run. I was his only hid. Cj krone two. For three with two walks. Charlie blackmon finding it a little bit here as well. He ends a five game hitless streak with a couple of hits including two. Rbi devil he also found a way to walk. Josh point has looked awful last night over five geared hamson two for two in a pinch eating role moving into center field with with a solo shot as well. Same hillary and look bad so what there's spots in this offense that still really paddling but gonzales goes five innings only allows three hundred runs. You'll take that from gonzales and the rockies do end up getting the seven five win one and seven now on the road. It's not great but it's something The rockies back in action looking for a series win against the san francisco giants at seven forty five Tonight that will be first pitch time for the colorado rockies and the san francisco giants her mom marquez on the mound. Herman loves pitching in san francisco to remember his one hit Classic complete game that he threw not too long ago there. It's her mom marquez. Alex would taking them out tonight for the car at iraqis. Also ryan mcmahon now for the league lead in home runs with eight Let's take a look. At what else is going on. In the in the sports world that was the only local game that we had in action last night and the and the rockies at least made it made it a good one tonight. You've got the vegas golden knights at seven thirty taking the colorado avalanche that one is a big game The the vegas golden knights thirty four and eleven the avs thirty one and eleven ads coming off a four to one loss to the blues Availability is going to be key. Who can they have Who who's going to be available four the colorado avalanche tonight. His rantanen bag is grew our back. that's what We'll be a big thing. Renton is out tonight. Philip room our is out as well So it's a tall task for the colorado avalanche side. Let's see if they can get it done but he just right now. They already got the playoffs. While locked up now you just gotta worry about getting healthy. Getting guys off that cova. Nineteen list giving them back into the lineup. that's what the main focus is for the colorado avalanche four. The denver nuggets. It's to win as many games as possible right now and they They take on the pelicans tonight at seven o'clock in that one the the nuggets are forty and twenty one. One a couple in a row remember. They're they're just. They are beaten up right now with injuries but they are only four games out of the first. Two games back at the clippers. Three games back of the phoenix suns. Can they find a way to scrape in one of those three two or one spot. I just for some. It just feels like they're not going to be able to do that. But they're going to pick up a game on either the clippers or the phoenix suns tonight as the clippers and suns do battle at eight o'clock on. Espn if you're looking to watch that game The clippers and the sons That's huge so who i mean. Who do you root for do you want. Who do you want the clippers to fall back or do you want the sons to fall back. I think right now. Nuggets fans need to be cheering. Four sons tonight Just because if they do pick up and the nuggets win hall of a sudden. You're only a game back at the clippers. You can close that in and khoza a close in on a on a one game discrepancy. I think even to you're starting to look a little tough but let's look at the reminder of of the way here for the nuggets. They play the clippers again. So that's another reason that you want your bay were. We're all phoenix suns fan site. If we're paying attention to the standings for the denver nuggets that will do it.

Ryan mcmahon Charlie blackmon Alex ryan mcmahon forty three Two games Three games cj crow five game eight o'clock Herman ryan northern colorado Renton three hundred runs seven o'clock two walks Philip tonight
