Fresh update on "carlos correa" discussed on Effectively Wild: A FanGraphs Baseball Podcast

"Yeah, I guess like slow, but then when our meetings rolled around and then they weren't. Yeah, it could pick up for sure. And the terms have thus far been generous, if anything, I think there's money to be spent. So the pace has been a little slow, but it could very well pick up soon. So here are the questions I have primed you with the questions, but you have not seen the responses from the insiders. And so the conceit here will be that you will speculate about what you think the insider said. And then if you have a different opinion yourself or I do, we could also volunteer that, but this is mainly about predicting what the predictors will predict. Right. So the first question posed to the insiders will Aaron judge get a package worth more than $320 million and who will he sign with, so this is a two parter. So the first yes or no over under three 20, what do you think the insider said? And we should note that even though a dozen executives were pulled here, it's not always a dozen respondents. In fact, it usually isn't which always flummox is a slick these people have. Here, they're protected. They could answer anything and yet still there are always some who just sit out questions or say pass or prefer not to say. But do you think that the majority of them said that he would go over or under three 20? I'm going to say that the majority said under. Incorrect. Really? Yeah. Okay, so you telling me that allows me to maybe tweak my answer to the second question. Yeah, that is true, yeah. Okay. So that's fine. Help the reveal, but yes, it looks like 11 answered and 7 said over. So okay. Now I guess and the 12th was a Yankees executive. For the Giants. Right. So if you want to guess the leading team, I guess, that was named. I'm going to say the Giants? No, it was the Yankees. It was the Yankees. Interesting. So I would have thought that at three above three 20 that the assumption would have been that he was wooed away from New York. That would have been my guess. Yeah. Yeah, 6 said Yankees. I don't know if this is 6 of 11 or 6 of 12, 6 said Yankees and then three Dodgers and two giants. Wow, okay. Dodgers ahead of giants. Yeah, interesting. Yeah, that is interesting. Okay, all right, well. There you go. Question two, which shortstop will get the most dollars and years in free agency. So can I ask so did people answer the two parts of that question separately or as one? No, it looks like they assumed that the most like that makes sense, but I thought I'd clarify. I'm going to say that the majority said Carlos Correa. It's actually a slight lead for Trey Turner. Okay. Which I don't know that either would have shocked me, but yes, 7 said Turner 5 said Correa. Okay. And crayola, he's a little younger. Yes. And so I might have answered the same way you did there. You might still answer that way, I think I may disagree here. Get a bigger deal. I think that he will get a bigger deal personally. Yeah, there's one executive who says that Turner's skill set could age the best and Cray has had some injuries in the past, et cetera. And that's a valid way to look at things, but yeah. The age, I think I might lean toward kray as well. And I don't know whether I'd lean over under three 20. The Yankees have reportedly already offered 8 and 300 for judge. Right. So it will take more than that if someone is going to him away and of course the Yankees could match shift someone raises. But yeah, I guess, I mean, if that was kind of the opening offer of the off season, at least that we know of, then it certainly is not unreasonable to think that he could go another 20 million or more higher. So I don't know. It could go either way on that. I guess the executives were or less did too. All right, now this one, I guess, is more involved. So where will the four big free agent shortstop sign? So this is Turner Correa density Swanson and Xander bogarts and I guess if you want to just name the leading team for each one. And I guess it could be the same answer for some of them, not that one team will sign multiple of them. But they might have the same teams that have a need and the wherewithal. Okay, who should we start with? Turner is listed first. Okay. I'm going to say for Turner it's going to be Dodgers and Phillies in some combination. That's kind of cheating, but it's probably those two. And then who's next? Correa. I'm going to say Dodgers and Yankees. Wouldn't it be better as an aside, wouldn't it be so spicy if Carlos Correa ended up being a Dodger that would be such spicy

"Operating the league's official NFT and digital collectible ecosystem That is straight ahead on the Bloomberg business of sports show but first let's take a look at some of the top stories of the weekend We've got a bunch of them I want to start you know why I know this is going to work about Activision because my son my 17 year old son said dad did you hear about Activision Microsoft has agreed to buy Activision Blizzard for $95 a share And when you add it up that's about $68.7 billion garlic Yeah and this is really about Microsoft making a bid to stake its claim in the metaverse Video games is obviously the way to get there And by buying Activision Microsoft becomes the world's third biggest gaming company after Tencent and after Sony In fact Sony shares tumbled after this news So this is about Microsoft putting its name up there Facebook the company that has now become known as meta clearly wanted to push its first mover advantage but this is Microsoft saying hold on we've got something specific here And we're going to do it through gaming You know another business and other industry that the residue of this pandemic was positive for them but last year video game releases were up 64% 64% Obviously a lot of people sitting around looking for things to do accelerated the gaming business I can give you one example I got a new iPad and I gave my old iPad to my 5 year old granddaughter and she said grant me doesn't have candy crush on it That's the only thing she has And then you go candy crush is part of this whole deal See I thought you were old iPad was that old book you got with this spiral But it's really going to be interesting to see what this does for the Overwatch league the Call of Duty league all of eSports as well By the way this isn't going to happen like oh next week the transaction is expected to close in fiscal year 2023 And a lot of regulators need to okay this too Exactly so they got to sign off on it Let's move on now to Scott Boris And the super agent Yes super agent Scott Boris It's like show me the money Scott Boris A free agent shortstop Carlos Correa you've heard of him as hired Scott Boris to represent him scarlet And this is interesting because we know that there's no business being done in Major League Baseball at the moment So this is about Carlos Correa's setting things up for when negotiations can begin once the work stoppage has ended But it's going to be interesting because obviously wherever he ends up query is going to get top dollar because that is what Scott Boris is known for There's no other method for Scott Boris It's the top dollar or nothing at all We thought a few years ago when he had Bryce Harper and the piper got $330 million in the Phillies that would be it Wealth Fernando tatis gets three 40 Lindor is three 41 from the mets Mike Trout is 360 from the angels Wookie betts gets 365 million from the Dodgers So you can expect Carlos Carrera to top a deal Total package of more than $365 million I goodness And he has been Scott has been doing the skateboards I guess I should call him mister Scott boy She made all this money He's been doing this for years He knows what the heck he's doing What I wonder about now is we're heading into that work stoppage How much leverage does he have scarlet Yeah it's a good question I don't know how things are going to play out in terms of timing But Scott Boris with his wealth of experience with his years of doing this will position Carlos the right way Next story is on to Lindsay maverick Carter This is something that is near and dear to user It is ma'am Well it was named to the board of directors of the Red Sox foundation which is the charitable arm of the Fenway sports group a group that maverick Carter and LeBron James have been part of since 2010 and this past year they elevated a notch maverick and LeBron James became part owners of the Fenway sports group which is the fourth largest sports group in the planet valued in March of some were just south of $7 billion Maverick Carter has been a number as on a number of charitable boards and his big thing with charity is just help people empowerment is the key word that drives him and I can't think of a better guy to be on the sport here There's a lot of work to be done in every single city around this country in Boston is no exception And I know the Red Sox I was over at Fenway Park last night and they were really excited about this announcement If there's a power ranking in sports the arrow next to his name would go straight up As long as LeBron's playing I don't believe he can own an NBA team but maverick Carter and LeBron James probably with the help of the Fenway sports group will own an NBA franchise very shortly after LeBron James retires Can you imagine that by the way obviously Michael Jordan and he's also an ownership obviously Then you get LeBron James in the mix You get maverick Carter into mix It would change even more the face of the NBA in how it's run It'd be the only owner that you couldn't beaten the game of one on one if you were a player on the team You could beat Steve bought if you play for the clippers you're gonna be Steve Ballmer and one on one you're being a game of horse But when LeBron James is owning the team you got zero chance That's him playing with one hand behind his back Up next on the show we're talking all things NFT with candy digital.

"And you know the way that jose altuve hits is going to be different than the way that you were outrageous. It's going to be different than the way that carlos correa et cetera. Down the line but they all they all share You know you can definitely be selfish in this game if you want to Because you never know how long you're going to be with the team and maybe you wanna protect something that you know but I don't see that with this group. I see total team effort and guys helping their teammates out. Because they're all on the same rope. Astros a gm. James click tampa of quite a while longtime you mentioned clubhouse culture. That's an unbelievable franchises. You know what's the difference is. Do you see similarities in the clubhouse and can you compare the two and what the differences between tampa and here i mean. Each clubhouses is distinct clubhouses unique and the tampa clubhouse around have been different. You know year two years sometimes. Depending on who the club outliers are can be a quieter more stoic clubhouse But a team like that because they tend to be on the younger side. you know. it's it's a lot of young guys and if a young clubhouse for for For better worse than and you know we all know kind of that. Right right but You know the the astros club out here. It's it's very it's professional It you know guys are are determined. They take this thing very seriously and you can see it. Not just in how they behave themselves on the field but in how they're taking care of themselves off the field not only taking care of their bodies and and being serious about that but also being safe with everything else. That's going on. And we've seen what happens to teams that have to to battle covert outbreaks and i give a lot of credit for treating this as seriously as they have to put us in the best position possible compete be full strength. Our post is postseason experience in baseball overrated or underrated at dependent who won the last game. You know we we do a really good job giving you the choice. You got to have one or the other. You gotta have a team that's experienced or a team. That's a little bit young and naive. I know the mix would be nice but if you had to choose one is what is one overrated underrated experience. I mean they're they are both over and under at the same time. It is it we just after the game is over in the postseason if the experienced team one then we get a bunch of articles and a bunch of talk about how the postseason experience came true and if the inexperience team won we get a bunch of talk about how you know. Well they were too young or you know not. They didn't realize how big the pressure was because they'd never been there. I don't i don't think any one of us has a has a really good idea on on overrated underrated dot kind of thing I do think that there is a benefit of.

"To me, this, to me, you have to think that this is going to affect the Astros morale down the stretch. And I truly feel the way I'm not just saying it because I hate the Astros and I love to see them suffer and I want to see them lose. But how could this not? One of the team leaders who's entering who's entering a well documented contract situation in the off season, who is an all star this year, who's could quite possibly be the best that are all around here on the team. Right in line with Jose Altuve, and he's going out to the media and he's exclaiming that this is his last final year with the Astros. One could argue, hey, this could galvanize the Clubhouse. Carlos Correa, leaving? 26 years old. This guy is going to leave. They're like, okay, great, we got to capitalize. You got to be here with our guy. Every step of the way, we can't let this affect our mental state, but I don't know how you successfully compartmentalize that as a locker room as a team. When a guy goes out to the media and says that this is his final year, especially a player of his magnitude. And you can't help but think that this is really terrible timing. There's a month left in the little over a month left in the season. The Astros are probably going to take the ALS at this point with the way the a's are playing. I think they have a 5 game lead over the gaze if I'm not mistake 5 and a half game lead over the aid is. And they're certainly they're certainly one of the best aside from the Yankees heading into the season. They were probably the next best team we were worried about. And now they have the same exact record as the Yankees. So it looks like they'll be going toe to toe at some point. But for a team like the Astros who needs all that moral support because of how everybody's after them after the science ceiling scandal for a team like the Astros whose constantly in the media for. You could say the wrong reasons, it's really beyond their control, fans jeering them, people mentioning broadcasters trolling them, players taking shots at them, whatever it may be. You know, this is a crew that's got to stick together. Think about, think about how defensive we've been as Yankee fans over the nonsensical cheating scandals that people have tried to throw on us. I know it's different because the Astros were found guilty and did something that was an obvious competitive advantage that MLB found them guilty for. But you know what fans do? You know what organizations do. They it's deny and attack. That's what it all is. And that's what Astros fans have been doing as an Astros players have been doing. As much as we hate them, we can't blame them. What are you gonna do? You're just gonna take constant insults. You're gonna take constant criticism and that's gonna be it. No, you're gonna stand up for yourself, you're gonna try and stick it to him. The Astros try to trash talk all of MLB last year. Correa was one of the main figures in the playoffs..

"We don't want to have this subject to a wildcard series or a wildcard game. It's really it's really not what you want. The way the Yankees are playing right now suggests that they could make up some ground against the raise. Unfortunately, Tampa's got a series against the O's coming up, but the ozone fired. Two straight wins after losing 19 trade or whatever it was. So hopefully they can come through for us to win the Yankees can grab another game. But anyway, at this point, you really can't, you really can't underestimate what the Yankees are doing right now. And everything's falling in their favor and they really have to continue to take advantage of this. And one thing I kind of wanted to talk about that actually, I think maybe helps them in this postseason. Is what Carlos Correa say the other day. I know completely off topic, but how much more can we talk about the series with local and that win was great, whatever is going to happen is going to happen. We got the guys lining up. It feels good. We're going to play with the house money at this point with 12 straight wins. And we're going to keep this train rolling. But anyway, Carlos Correa earlier this week in a piece published by the athletic mentioned that this was going to be his last year in Houston. So what does that mean? I guess, I guess that is what it means. It means that he's not coming back to the Astros after this season. He is a free agent. He's going to be part of the star studded class alongside Corey Seager alongside Javier Baez alongside Trevor story. And for some odd reason, the Astros have an extended in. I truly don't know why I understand kind of been a bit of an injury liability during his time in MLB. But you could argue, you look at the Astros and Jose Altuve, yes, probably the face of the franchise and their best player, but you could argue that Carlos Correa is one a Carlos Correa is their I would say their vocal leader, he's their go to trash talker, he backs his. I hate him. I mean, I don't hate him. I don't know him. I don't like as a fan. I don't like Carl's gray. As a person, I'm sure he's fine. I'm sure he's a cool guy. But as a fan, I don't like him. I don't like his cocky attitude. I mean, I would love him if he was on my team, but he, to me, is the energy of the Houston Astros. He stuck it to the Yankees on so many occasions. He's talked trash to the rest of the MLB. He's the one who stood in his team's corner, like as passionately as you possibly could during the cheating scandal. And this is how the Astros are going to repay him. They're going to repay him by letting him hit free agency and not giving him a contract extension. How many other guys does this seem to give contract extensions? They gave Jose, they signed Jose tube to arguably the most team friendly contract extension in all of MLB and then scrapped it, gave him a giant new one. He's making like 30 million a year now. They extended Justin Verlander as quickly as they possibly could. They extended the Lance mccullers junior. They extended Julie guriel. They're not going to extend Carlos Correa, who's their starting shortstop arguably one of the best all around short stops in the game..

"Podcast episode. But this is really shaping up to be one of the craziest seasons in recent memory for the Yankees. Nobody saw this type of turnaround. Nobody saw this team being galvanized to this extent. Nobody saw the rotation being this good. And the great part about it all is that, yeah, the Yankees did need that kind of fire from Aaron Boone earlier this year when they weren't performing. But guess what? We'll take it at any point. You got to remember guys, Aaron Boone underwent heart surgery before this even started. I'm sure he was still taking time to recover. I'm sure he was still taking time to kind of find his bearings and find that passion deep within him to really get the team excited, go out there and look, he's say what you want about Aaron Boone. He's defended his guys in most spots. I know the beginning of this year. It's kind of been problematic because it's been a lot of defending players who have been underperforming. And it's been a lot of excuses. I think the famous one was baseball is hard. We heard that one earlier in the year. Yeah, we know it's hard. But for as much as you want to criticize Boolean, I know a lot of people don't like them. He's got his players backs. And it was clear last night. It was good that he didn't allow that situation to dictate the game. He nipped it in the bud. I know the strike. The strike zone definitely improved after that. But you don't want to be the manager standing in the dugout watching this kind of let this garbage strike zone continue for the entire game. He saw enough in the second inning. He was fed up. He went out there. He led his voice be heard, got ejected. Everyone gets pumped. And this is the kind of stuff that you need. And guess what? Why not like the team on fire.

"And I think this is their first game win streak now since 1961 since Roger Maris was chasing the home run record. So garter, bad at that. We're not going to let him off the hook. Terrible at pops out the second, that's two outs. We can't advance. We can't advance the runners with first and second, no outs unfortunately. And then Joe Rochelle comes up. He puts the ball and play grounds out. That would have been great for when we had one out. That's what we need. We need to put the ball on the ground when there's one out Garner lazy pop up the second terrible bat. People are rightfully mad. You know, you're watching this game. You're like we just blew a 6 O lead. We want this win. But, you know, I know you'll probably go to Twitter and you will see all the people criticizing the Yankees for that inning. You'll see the outrage. But for me, I just didn't feel I wasn't that bad. I was watching the game late couldn't sleep. I was like, you know what? We just, we're going to have to take some else. We're going to have to take it on the chin once in a while if the ink is going to blow it with the bases loaded. Is it really anything new for you at this point? Are you surprised that they're doing that? And they're doing it in Oakland a place that they're famous for not being good at over the last three, four years. So, you know, if this is a loss, whatever, we'll bounce back, everything will be fine. Why is it was already any pitches another inning in the 8th? Absolutely shuts shuts the show down. And then top of the 9th comes. Void flies out to center. As a pinch hitter, DJ Lemay who lines out to write, we got two outs. Great. Now what? Anthony Rizzo works a walk. Tyler wade pinch runs Tyler wade steals second. As catcher Sean Murphy air mails the ball into center field, wade gets the third. Judge on a I think it was a two two count or a one, two count. Wrestles off and inside an inside pitch in on the hands, pokes it into right field single. Boom, Tyler wade scores. Yankees lead 7 6 to dugout is going nuts. Everybody is jacked up from Aaron Boone losing his mind to the Yankees pouring on 6 runs to the bullpen staying resilient and the lineup coming through when they needed to to take down to take down the Oakland athletics. But the job wasn't done there. I think we all know that the 9th inning is not safe for the New York Yankees, especially with the role this Chapman closing it nowadays. We don't really know what to expect from. I mean, we do know what to expect from him at this point from a nightly basis. He's not been good. That's the fact that can't locate his fastball. Everybody wants to be the closer. You really can't blame them at this point. He's been the better relief pitcher. He's better suited for high leopard situations. His stuff is just much more threatening at this point. Chapman is sometimes throwing slop, can't locate his splitter, slider, sometimes weak, fastball, sometimes the velocity is an entirely get up to where it needs to be when he steps on the mound for those first couple pitches. In the high leverage situation, low is gone on the other hand, pumping a hundo. It doesn't matter. Anyway, Chapman comes in and he doesn't have the easiest task does not have an easy task here..

And some you don't care you don't care that it's the cindy crawford's are elle macphearson and yes body type has changed and what we put on the covers staying for us. I mean i don't understand why the magazine exist like the do people not notice. The internet illustrated swimsuit one. I mean i understand that the body type you prefer thick to thinner but do you like would you rather have the supermodels doing it or do you not really care who they're putting on it. I could honestly care less. But i will say my favorite covergirl was kate upton. That's how i knew. She was sent he yet. She's gonna respectful feet away from her and didn't even realize it makes me sad because i would have been like. Oh my god. That's kate upton. I prefer for me old at l. I'm with you guys body type wise. I get it. But i still prefer the traditional supermodel. I think that was when sports illustrated swimsuit. Not that they're not good now. But if i had a preference i'm going back in time. I prefer the old school. Sports illustrated cover the swimsuit edition than i do now. I prefer i prefer. I can't remember the last time actually saw the full version of one of the last decade but pre that back in the day. I think i'm i'm more old school. When it comes to just the traditional sports illustrated swimsuit now the body type you put on it. I'm all for whatever. Change you to put on that. But i just like the old traditional look where it was like eight or ten girls that were the supermodels and doing it in some different areas of the country or the world tonight sat thought it was pretty cool but i wonder what they're subscription wonder. What the differences in subscriptions from then to now. I guess that'd be pretty easy to find out i. It's pretty much all the time net. I would agree on c. Times of changed Especially in the print world when it comes to this. But i'm sure they can always get some optics and some is on the sports illustrated swimsuit edition tomorrow again. We'll talk to the oklahoman about kate cunningham about dame lillard in the recent talk that the the wishlist asked. The rockets are part of that or part of the team. "Our number two here a lot of good rockets discussion over eight cunningham robust and the thought of how much you gonna move on. What are you gonna move and how receptive would be to it or if you have to quote unquote settle for the number two pick. Who is it and are you okay. Let's get to ray ray. Welcome in seven one. Three two one two five seven nine if you want to join ray. How're you doing man. Good morning sean I'll just be real brief here. i was on. i'm all in on cunningham. But the thing is is that. I i don't think detroit is gonna. There's not a pack of stuff that takes coming to school together. That will be enticing enough for detroit to actually want to move back. So with that being said i'm i mean i'm only because i believe that that is something to be said about playing on both ends. He gives you. It gives you a defense a presence as well as a an officer presence is eat. It looks is operatives more and he can step on the truth at three so with him and we're together they could be a match up nightmare. Chains don't hang up and listen to you guys say about that right. Thank you guys. I mean there has been a ton of people that you know that. Love the mobely I've talked myself out of them again. Yup you're in you're out in the now you're back out own team jalen green if its second pig. Now you know why. What made you switch because guard lake. Give me card. i'll probably change again between between now and next thursday so because there's a guard league you're out on always leaned the guard. I it's just the you know. You gotta have the guide that position like mobutu great talent. I don't pardon me also doesn't wanna wait for four years for him to be a superstar where you're having to pay him a max deal off of one year and everything yet you love cunningham. And he's a he's not. I mean he can play guard because he's multiple positions and versatile and can play the perimeter and shoot. You're okay with the and obviously he's got length so you love that one but your morning in on green than mobile because you want somebody because it's a league and has been for a while now remorse going to lean towards cards like that. At the end. I talked myself into the thought process of if they took mobile. Wouldn't be pissed at all like i'd be fine. Be completely fine. I would hope that they're going to trade christian would at that point. Because i don't think there's any reason to keep christian. If you're drafting evan mobely but you know i always end up leaning towards the positions that you're the thing that matters the most which is having a guy world of the nba. Were you can put the ball. In his hand he goes and creates the game. He goes into takes over the team. Does his thing like. I don't know if you're going to necessarily do that. With a big man you want the ball in his hand is what you're saying that type of player mobely is not going to be the guy that handles the ball brings it up and does all those things that you're discussing but man. Is he a player right. But i and so. I understand the intrigued. There do you. If you're the pistons. Why would you give up kate cunningham if you love him. Why was your trading. Won't love him. you're not giving them up. You're right and that's the point for nothing right. Would matter correct. They would tell me that. Do do if they're considering this and and it put it this way if there is a possibility of getting him and that offer is on the table. I mean detroit's listening at least and says well if the right offer comes we'll take it. Does that if you're the pistons does that mean you. Just don't quite love him as much as we think. You should love him or the pisses just going to say you know what if we can milk it in this. I mean i guess what you're saying is. Can you get enough assets that make get rid of kate cunningham worthwhile. If you love kate cunningham. Is there anything that anybody can do to get up and take that away. Short of you know mortgaging their franchise. Dick can take that away. 'cause detroit needs kinda needs at pr too don't they dictate cunningham. I mean isn't that part of the deal. Yeah that's part of it. The way i look at the detroit thing overall is that that the rumor from the jump whether it's real or not. I mean literally from the moment that the draft lottery came down is that detroit loves jalen green. That is the guy that they want. If i'm detroit. And i love him. There's no reason for them to not investigate or at least it. Put the feelers out to put the rumors out there. Put up the smokescreens to get the rockets to buy in that they could trade the pick right. Yeah that's like so that that that's what it's just smart business. I don't think that at the end of the day if the rumor is true that the pistons truly love jalen green. They're not gonna. They're just gonna take jalen green at the rockets. Don't bite like if they're on the clock and then it's time to draft him and you haven't got the offer you want to get the assets you want and you love jalen green. Then you're gonna you're gonna hold out till it's time and then you're gonna boom make the pick because they're not going to trade to four and then pray the jalen greenhouse four. He's not gonna not gonna fall for no he's not. So it's it's the you'll entertain entertain entertaining. Take every call up until it's time to pick him. And i think if they really love jalen green more than they love cake cutting then they will just make that tick and if you're the rockets and you call that bluff. You're going to get the guy you wanted with the number two. Pick so yeah. The question is is detroit in. I think it all comes down to this. Who's detroit love with. in truth. We know what the we heard the talk publicly behind closed doors. Who are they in love with. Is it kate cunningham or is it jalen green and do the rockets. Are they gonna make a big enough pitch or is somebody else to jump to number one. I find the detroit. Since i don't have any idea white. Go the truth is i. Don't know why if it's not the rockets. Why would you go down further than that. Yeah i i just don't think you would and i don't think that somebody gives you a package. It would make big enough for you to say well. Let's just trade down like you said to four no way but even three there have to be a hell of a lot of assets the rockets around the best position to do this. The question is who does detroit love more kate cunningham or jalen green. It's sports talk. Seven ninety astros zack. Greinke he got through it. Carlos correa struggles and is he still already put himself in position to three hundred million no matter what he does. Second half of the season is going to be there. It's heavy. It's mc sean sports seven ninety. Jeff whitsett dr jefferson. It's w. h. i. T. s. e. t. t. special. He's special.

"Yet. he's probably gonna get it. I mean like two hundred zero to well. Yeah i could go to like with him. Like twenty million a year. And max and i saw one hundred million bucks twenty million a year and i wouldn't even do that personally. He wouldn't be on my radar. If i was a team so his self evaluation says two hundred million dollars he needs a new evaluation so you england needs res reevaluate. But if that's what now to further your point if that's what they're paying a player who is if they're gonna pay somebody double what he's worth. Yeah craze getting his. I think korea is going to get his regardless of what hobby bias gets. I don't think the bias of the guys you named like you said he's the he he would be the last option of the four due to mention jiri in seger and korea by having the best season of all. These guys is not right. I mean right story in the been hurt stories having a blind year. And i mean that really. None of them have good years outside of korea. Exactly an aside from his last twenty five at bats. He's been pretty damps. The solid every aspect of his game this year. We you heard hutch mentioned him defensively as we talk about regularly here but i i can't even two hundred million bucks two hundred million dollars for for biasing swell slowed down but if somebody gets close to paying that. I can't even fathom that anybody would think about it. He's highly i-it's overvalued himself if you asked me but yes if you compare comparing it's it's it's unfair to bias because he's not an unfair to korea because this is one he's staring down he ate staring up at the money vise go watch the cubs highlights from last night. Look at how havi are buys defense. Went i just cost them. Three runs in one inning. Because he could throw the ball with any base. I can't. I can't fathom that base. Smart baseball people are willing to pay this and think it's a great investment so we'll come back and discuss has carlos correa regardless of the second half of the season. Has he done enough for you to say. Yep he's worth three hundred million. I mean i was convinced that he turned my thoughts around the we were maybe undervaluing him at the beginning of the season not as talent but his production in his durability here we are struggling now so it's a good time to discuss it when he's going hot. We know we want what we want to say about him. The question is what he's going bad struggling offensively. Then what are we thinking. And if we still think he's worth it. Then that means the first half season and the the total of his career has told you enough and the durability the first half that that he belongs at three hundred million havi buys a two hundred million. Get off the crack. Pipe sports time not him. Anybody who thinks he's worth two hundred million dollars. It's sports stock seven ninety rolling on our number one and we will discuss and take your call seven three two one two five seven ninety. Has carlos correa regardless of the second half is season has he earned or has he solidified without his name on the paper that he's getting three hundred million regardless of what happens in the second half making shirts not an injury sports. Talk seven ninety talking about getting stuff that you deserve. What you guys deserve. Is something ice cold. Refreshing from carbonic broom pits. I don't know if you're like me. I was outside yesterday evening and it was frigging hot and you know what i wanted after. I got my workout done. Which i had as i watch the nephews and niece out there playing basketball in the street branch. Water heart seltzer from karbacher brewing. And it was fantastic. It was so refreshing it tasted just fantastic after being out there in that heat and some to cool off with the four flavors all them great whether it is the original line which is my favorite the prickly pear the watermelon. The meyer lemon. You're gonna love them all trust me. I mean that you're going to love every single flavor and it's going to be your go-to drink for me. It's the official drink of summer. That is that water heart seltzer. So make sure you get over to the store today and load up on them. If you're going to be like me head out to the ballpark tonight. I think i'm gonna have me a tasty ways and a crawford. Bach heck might even have ranch. Water heart seltzer to guess what. They're all available at the ballpark. But if you're taking the stroz nothing goes better with astros baseball than an ice cold crosswalk and again to me again. The drink of summer the ranch water heart cells are four fantastic flavors always refreshing always perfect. When you're thinking about those things that you want this hot summer heat so go to the store they load up on the make. Sure that you're always drinking responsibly. But make sure it's something from this. Is the sean salisbury show. And his name is short. Sean really on sportstalk seven ninety all right as you guys pregnancy through carl sprays struggles. Has he done enough for you to say. I don't care what he does in the second half. You've got to pay him whether we'd love it here but if it somewhere else that's a two hundred seventy five million to three million plus deal waiting on him. No matter what happens and then what would be the reason. He doesn't get paid. Would it only be a durability thing if you missed some games with a hamstring. Let's hope it doesn't happen. We don't need any more of that or quad but has eat secured that money. And that's a pretty if he has and the relaxation kicks in i mean it he's He's proven enough that he's worthy of that big contract heke should just be cut loose and let me go. But i don't judge a guy by twenty-five bats. I think it's a body of work. Even though he has not looked good. The brings a lot to the table regardless and just as quickly as he's gone over twenty five. You can go twelve or twenty five as well these on the capabilities to do that bruce. Welcome in man what's happening. Hey guys thanks first of all. Y'all got a great show. I live on iheart better pretty bad. So he'll always good. Topics has an outside salesman. Man it's nice to cruise around and have some good topics to listen to. But i personally Yeah he's earned it but it ain't going to be here. Trains already low baltimore. And i would like crane to offer another one. Maybe around two hundred million but he probably wouldn't even take that six years twenty million like you suggested earlier sean but has earned it. Probably unless he gets a major which opens. That's another reason why you guys were talking yesterday. I all chips in it sir. Third have you say if name Even if it costs because because if they don't want another world series it's going to be You can't win cheated. You know what i mean. So i say go for it and then next year in a wreck and play shortstop at lsu students over or are getting another shortstop. A tornado is an everyday third baseman. I looks like he. S but and then spend money on pitching because it seems like we always make starting pitching. We don't know if we're gonna come back. We hope we do but I say all chips in go forward but offering two hundred million six years. You know twenty million a pop you know. That's only buck eighty. But maybe squeezing it a little bit to see if he'll stay here because man his defense like the previous caller said is incredible and he has right now but you also said it's ed edlow season to get hot and we just hope he gets the play.

"Second half slump. And so i'm i'm with you. I'd be more concerned if this was august and we were pushing septembe like well now. There's not much time to get it right now but here in july going through it one adjustment games where you get three hits if you remember early in the season career was struggling to remember when we said c. Talked about it okay. At some point he's going to break out where we feel. Then that average started erectile tucker went through this as well yeah. He was struggling and while he's still not fully avenue where we hope he'd be but he is. We saw him bust out. So the the key here is the capabilities of long good runs for these hitters. Because they're so good at the plate if you're a if you're a team that has to play against him you're looking announcing their struggles. Still ten and ten over the last twenty at some point. They're going bust out not for one game but for ten fifteen in a row. So it's a cyclical into streaky game. Karez looked awful at the plate. Not only has not been selective and chasing bad pitches just hasn't looked the same and for whatever reason but just as quickly as we start the hammer. That's why i'm always instead of going beaten down on somebody like okay not good. Here's the reasons why. But i do not expect him to live there and i wouldn't imagine he does either in getting pregnant back in the lineup. Hopefully sooner than later will obviously help this team. But i still contend on. Well this is challenging. I said earlier in the year. We had that i asked all you guys said. What's the one situation or one player. And i said alex bregman over an extended time or missing being out of the lineup. Completely would be a big problem for me for this team. Winning a world series while they're still hanging around they've still been able to take care of their business and they're gonna get him back so they've been able to overcome that now. I don't know how it would be if he was gone. The rest of the season so this team is still obviously know. The aspirations are world series. We'll see what they're going to do and we will discuss as we did yesterday. Trade deadline talk also with the nba draft coming up. We'll we'll discuss where the rockets sit and what their next move is and tonight's game six. It's either an elimination game or the sun's move onto game seven all that plus the nfl's around the corner. We'll continue our discussion about quarterbacks in the league and where the texans go from here it's sports. Talk seven ninety. Sean sows reshow heavy. Tmc on a tuesday right here. stay around going. You're right back. We're going to have to turn this over sean. More sean salisbury on sports. Talk seven ninety took a ton of ads on rightfully. so we'll also spend time talking about the draft chad. Ford came out was mentioning. What the rockets are released trying to do. We'll discuss that here shortly and next week. I'm gonna yep. And i'm going to ask you guys a question after we take this call and very simply so you can mullet over. Has carlos correa already sewn up his money for the future hold. That thought. Okay some interesting on the website. That's up there this. Let's get the hutch hutch. Welcome in how you doing. Hey good morning. Guys i ever called me if i'm wrong but i think a couple of Peres strikeouts i which is really close. You know dishes discount of the of the strike zone or so. And i do think you'll come out of it But a lot of it is just over thinking. I think in you know there's to under thinks it just weeks the first pitch anytime. I think korea will come back in that last thing. I do not think that courageous looking to move to another team. He can stay here. But you know it's always about the money and i guess that's all nothing earth shattering but enjoying the show man. I've just started thanks last week. So thank you hutch before you go. We appreciate the cop. Thank you glad. Glad to hear your voice Do you believe carlos correa whether it's here or somewhere else has sewn up His new contract and the tune of is easy now as as he done enough to secure two hundred seventy five three hundred between two hundred seventy five three hundred million dollars and you know why eastern the guy makes spar unbelievably athletic. Lose this last night or that guy in the second. I was very man. I've never seen a guy with such a gun on so yeah. I think there's teams that are just itching to talk to this manager and Oh man i hate the thought of losing him because really factor in what do we have. You know right now So yeah. I think he's done what it takes to get that kind of offer as he does. I guess the question is has done what it takes to get that kind of offer for. Houston you know good point. Don't think i don't think that's going to happen. So the truth and i don't know i guess it's the money thing you know. I never cancer got all the all this money flying around. I remember when Was it nolan. Got a million dollar contract advice about you know. Drop their pants holy cow. That's about it every two weeks salary for somebody now crazy okay. I always think of per game. You know what what do they make per day. Even when they're not playing doug belief but yeah. I heard you rate stuff. I appreciate contact. Even thank you very much we appreciate you chiming in appreciate your thoughts. Well guys i you know we. We've had him the way he's played this year at thought it was a stone cold. Lock and i'm. I'm not judging from twenty-five frigging at bats over his struggle but others may tall ask you to his. He secured his contract. Yeah he's going to get between two eighty three ten. That's likely i think it's going to be starting with the number three. I bring this up. Because i don't know if you saw the rumor yesterday. So the shortstop markets got plenty of guys. We've talked about that. It's got trevor stories. Got cory seager. It's got avi bias. Obviously carlos correa was going to have lynn door but he got his big money. And it's not organized so far for him there in new york. But there's there's a rumor out there that havi our bias is easily the worst of these available shortstops that we mentioned he has a self evaluation that he told the cubs. Basically if you want to extend me it's going to take at least two hundred million plus to do it. I wouldn't do it. He's having numbers here. Real quick. Sit in to forty two this season. He's a lifetime to sixty two hitter. It's twenty one home. Runs for nine. Runs batted in but he's got an on base percentage of two eighty six because he's walked fourteen times. Eighty three games slugged. Four eighty seven an open. Seven seventy-three caro- piazza seven seventy seven. If that guy gets two hundred million dollars if i know team in their right mind in the world would give that player that much money if he did though carlos correa is he's getting three hundred million and he's not even sweating it. Well i can't even imagine any team would step two hundred million havi by if you if you look at the numbers and not the the name of the player like i said i got power. And he has his moments and started in five hours for seventy five. And i was going to say this one hundred million dollar player not a two hundred million dollar player and he ought to an fight and scratching for one hundred billion dollars. It'd be a lot. Yeah i in my opinion hundred million dollar player.

"Seven. Wrap this up here with dusty baker we talk about the big seven or however you want to call it the the The the the seven that are as fierce as any lineup in baseball but mile straws playing pretty damn good baseball. So let's not count these other guys out. Chas mccormick homers his six of the year. Maldonado's been money behind the plate. This really good baseball club in a team. Scott they've they're not just thinking playoffs they gotta be thinking crown themselves with as champions in another ring and they'll be we're going to hit it here in a second some of the things that maybe they need come trade deadline to push themselves second half of the season but dusty baker. Some of these other things fromberg coming off the injury what he's about but first mile straw dusty baker on miles strauss's performance. You know it's just a matter of plan and a matter of what's your confidence in him in in in. Continue to put him out there. A lot of people were getting out of. There was the season great young. Two young player time You know to learn. The league alignment pitchers that he's going to be facing an accident. Learn himself because he hadn't played this much and a couple couple years to see what is our And of he's been working hard at it. He's been working hard. You know trying to stay out of the air. Stay on the line and and make contact and he's not taking as much And so you know. Swinging bats dangerous bat and the feel a problem. Selva this whole lot more in this net on the way to coming out so We're all pulling for him because you know he's a tremendous has tremendous value. You know he's our human tukwila real bona fide speed guys and you know. He's turning into outstanding center. Fielder daily daily keyword. Nice to hear. That's really nice to hear. And they kind of waited and waited and here. We are with the guy who's really raised. His game dusty. Also how can you not be impressed with this. Frontline ace from revealed as he continues to mold the opponent down at chartres because he was in and out of the strike zone ready made pitch when he need it down especially on double place. You know. that's the pitcher's best friend. Though plays again two hours with one pitch. Save yourself a lot of pitches. And you know he was. He was he was good. You know we're we're debating whether the same in the seventh facility known for his endurance. You know he's still getting back into shape and we wanna take him two hundred pages. He was just under that so that was outstanding performance by family. Yup no shock. He continues to pitch in find his way through those performances. Where you're not a sharp whatev- curtailed him three years ago. Maybe two years ago starting last year before coalition find his way through is now becoming one of those guys that you count on. Every time he takes the mound. All right tyler. There's been some talk. Espn coming out with what teams that are in the playoff hunt need to basically push them to another level and i use that in my own words in the second half of the season. So what do you got force in the next couple of minutes that espn is said. The astros need aside. Maybe the same bullpen would be my number one choice. Is that the case or are they going in a different direction. You would be correct on that. So right now. They still have a thirty five. Almost thirty six percent chance of winning the division sixty five percent chance of the playoffs and a twelve percent chance at the l. Penance five percent chance to win the whole thing so the key things that they need number one is a closer but as they say that they mentioned more the bullpen specifically says the astros bullpen has had some of the worst results in baseball and while there are some good arms and hopes for regression as the group gets healthier a closer might help bring it all in focus presley has pitched well as the main saves guide. By adding someone. Pittsburgh's richard rodriguez would be a major boost. Well the only reason be major boost as you could use presley somewhere else in a bullpen. I disagree that's not the number one. Need bullpen yes. Closer no i. Yeah i like how good. It's not a closed that sitting out there. That's like you have to go get either. I mean rich. Rodriguez is a nice pitcher. But he's not a guy that profiles big talk. Like i don't know he's just he closer he doesn't he doesn't care be guarantee me better results than presley and if you're going to go out and make that move then i got then it's got to be that guy which is a no brett good pitcher but i don't think that's number one bullpen. Yes or no. I'm all for that. So the number to need is still the center field spa. And i know they've been using straw and mccormick however these two options that they mentioned. I do more than both of those guys said. Houston's posted george springer pendants centerfield isn't hasn't panned out so far and the trademark. It should have quality options such as baltimore. cedric mullins. and miami's starling morte fair. what am i giving up to get him. It does not specify. But i would have to imagine especially for mullins probably pretty low pet if i'm giving up something to get them considering the way that mccormack's been playing with energy off the bench and the way miles straws game. I'm gonna tell you this though if this if even continues close to this rate the way mile stress plan. There's no way they're going to get a center. Fielder this centerfield gonna get benched. I i don't think that's going to happen. That miles straw is doing what a good player. What a guy under pressure. Suppose to slow those down so they quit talking about iraq guys slowing down. So while i tyler. I get what you're saying. Why those names bull sound more appealing and overall better players. But what am i giving up to get him. And is it worth or would i be better well-spent finding not only bench strength but bullpen strength as well. We'll discuss this tomorrow. I think this this warrants a lot more discussion after we saw that. Come down about an hour and a half ago or so sports talk seven hundred great show fast mc back tomorrow take care of those flat tires my man be safe tyler. Thank you as always for your thing and we appreciate you to our listeners. In our callers there is no better. We appreciate you guys. Thank you very much up next in the trenches. Chris gordon andy clue long with big charge followed other matt thomas show with ross and then the eighteen this afternoon at this afternoon astros back in action. I'm all for heavy t and mcm. Sean we don't ever take you for granted we'll see in about twenty hours..

"The hour we're going to discuss. And throughout this hour little more of the astros victory yesterday and how dusty baker felt but also espn coming out with teams. That are in a playoff run here and what they need in the second half basically the season by the trade deadline to I assume push over the top and give them a better chance to succeed. I haven't read it. But i have a hunch that we know what they're gonna say. Maybe it's different. Maybe it's different and we'll hear also with that. What buster only said about these. What major league baseball is going to do with this substance issue when it comes to pitchers in a memo and the enforcement of it all in the nine o'clock hour we'll roll through now and Pound out some of these top twenty five. E we haven't got a twelve year gets to twelfth one through twelve. Hasn't been released yet right tyler. So right now. It's only forty thirteen. So between lawrence and wilson lawrence has to be favourite ahead of wilson. I would think right. He's got wilson ahead of loves his upside. I'm a huge zack. Wilson fan. But i still think trevor lawrence is one of the top five or six assets in the nfl coming into this season. I think that he's going to be a great player as long as jacksonville dozen screw it up. I would also agree. And i would also say that wilson as far as one of the best assets in the league wilson is not far behind him. Zach wilson skill set and ability and magical may not be the word but explosive talent and confidence is unique. It is now when you say unique. Shall we sing guys like him. Yeah but we don't see guys like every day that Flick of the wrist and the ability to move and do all those things valley played at. Byu okay well. Then trae land play north dakota state okay. Then carson wentz played in north dakota state. Okay of play utah state. And no you're gonna tell me well to those guys haven't started yet but apparently they're all drafted high for a reason. So zack wilson's got now. Whether that means success we saw. Sam darnold hell. He had to get out of new. York's they damn near didn't ruin him but robert solly better than adam. Gaces zach whack. Wilson's mom is already love new york. She gets put into the new york post or whatever every day for some she post online. There you go zacks gonna be. He will have the ability to do some special things. The question is how do you build around. And then lords is gonna face the same thing. What are they going to put around him because both of them. I don't have a problem for looking at upside them there. I would fry flip it. I would have. Zack wilson ahead of the other guys. That were named. But i would have trevor lawrence a a bit ahead wilson at this stage with the ability. I think you're gonna have fun watching those to play football and right now neither team hence why both those guys were drafted into our very good right now. K twenty six twenty five. Whatever you're at twenty six is daniel jones. I consider all the yes. I do believe. That's very fair. I think and with a chance to to raise to rise up and be better. I think depending on saquon barkley progress and what they do at the wide receiver and how he elevates. I think daniel jones has been given somewhat. Now i know he's got to be more accurate and more consistent protect the ball better. It's underground too much. But i can tell you this. He hasn't had much of a chance that he keeps battling and compete. And i think that's about right for for for daniel jones. I'm all for that twenty fifth slot right around there. Yeah so he's number twenty six now number. Twenty five and twenty four also on the same team Jameis winston twenty-five tastes hill number. Twenty four tasted ill. He shouldn't even be in. The quarterback tastes taes. I'm with you taste. Meal doesn't belong in the top thirty two if you want to put him in a backup category and put him in. The other tastes them. Hills better quarterback at this stage of the game then didn't kellen mind but mondavi better pure thrower i. He's a swiss army knife. And the best in the league and deebo samuel. Probably second. But i think that this is a. I don't have him now. He may end up winning the quarterback job. I don't know. I don't know if he's going to win it. And if james doesn't protect the ball they're going to play somebody else hell ian books on their to their. They'll play tastes. James doesn't protect it but jason. I mean but pajamas ability and his ability to throw is so much better than tatum hill. I don't consider tayshiaaa appear quarterback. Nor would i put him as the twenty fifth best back in the league. Playmaker maybe quarterback now and it'll be a fun battle. James belongs in there because of his ability. He's got to protect the ball. Better taste hill should not even be in the top thirty two and i love him as a player. I just don't pure quarterback if you knew he had to do in a different system could take some. He'll go and do what they do. A radar system. Mike my answer is probably not real consistent. They utilize imperfect he should not be in the thirty two. When it comes to quarterbacks. I also agree with that one hundred percents number. Twenty three and twenty two is ryan fitzpatrick at twenty three and big ben at twenty two. And that's pretty fair football. Yeah i do. I still think big bins. Got the ability to reach. That's disrespectful even at is advanced age. There's still a lot of young quarterbacks he's going to have some other ones that i haven't even heard replace him. That are worth it. P. play seventeen games. He's throwing for four thousand plus and thirty touchdowns this year. I think part of it is because his receivers do not do a very good job of getting open last year. At least not on him. I still through for thirty eight hundred fifteen games last year. Thirty three touchdowns ten picks and you know. We called it a bad year. I think that's majorly disrespectful. He's way too low. Yeah way too low. We'll we'll we'll guys will finish will come back. Finish a few at the top pop into some baseball. Give our. we'll we'll. We'll get a plethora of this stuff in as far as who'd you say the fitzpatrick that's that's good. I like him. I actually think that I just love him because no matter what system you throw at him he learns. It doesn't matter what what starter. He's got beat out. He competes doesn't matter how long he's been in the league ryan fitzpatrick got that hell. He'll play for all thirty two if he has to. That's called smarts Harvard guy knows how to be smart. Keep getting paid as long as they want to pay you to do those things because no money you're gonna make outside of now. He may be a brilliant in his next career but he's also productive in this one. I have no problem there. I think ben roethlisberger especially when some of these names. You're gonna throw at me or ahead of him that that's to me. Complete disrespect to ben rothlisberger. After thirty touchdown ten pick season and it was a bad season considered for him. Thirty eight hundred yards as mc gave the numbers that is way. I think that ben roethlisberger probably it doesn't have to be ten slots higher. But i still have trouble keeping him out of the top twenty until you proved me those guys ahead of him and i can't wait to hear the list sportstalk seven ninety lot of baseball and our number in our number four. Plus your what's in your car when you talk about monin on monday that'll be at nine. Fifteen sportstalk seven ninety. The crew is here. Sean salisbury whitsett. Vision dot com. Seven one three three six five nine seven nine nine answer. Sales people hooked me up. They did and said here. Go call this guy. "Is that how we're doing this. So we're we're selective okay. They do this and we know most people do it but when we know most people steal signs. That's not good enough right so we're going to. We're going to carry this one on forever and everybody's worse but if somebody has a foreign substance in their glove around their hat the we really wanna suspend anybody well and that's okay because they didn't do that for the players but we're gonna take this. I don't know. Should i say less serious. Or what have you. Because the the the hitter sin is worse than the pitcher says. Is that how. I'm supposed to read this right now. That's what they basically telling us with. The way is an let me. I always contend just from being around enough people that the two thousand seventeen season wasn't just the two thousand seventeen season to sign. Stealing stuff was so rampant in baseball. Like they never wanted everybody to know how bad it was. They really don't want everybody think he think mc on your can you hear him tyler ac- i believe he kind of six. That's right So so there's no doubt in in my mind that that we knew that it wasn't just the astros doing it doesn't make it but it doesn't make it okay. This is by no stretch of the imagination. Am i saying a no big deal because it's true whether you're if you're an astros fan or your red sox fan or what have you that the cheating worse if it's from somebody else that that's the way we we always do anything. I can't believe that person did you. We always we're all guilty of that the that the astros thing is not as main if you're living houston Come on man. It's not that big a deal. Everybody's doing it if you're not doing it then you're you're thrown into a motor pool that-that everybody says you should be in but we all do that. Oh my gosh my team then chiefs bad as yours. Or if you're cheating than we assume everybody's doing it. And i assume that everybody into that not everybody but a lot of guys were doing whatever. They could to get an advantage when it came to sign stealing. I think the harsh part of it was the pointed out. You could hear the trash. Can i think that. I think the way they went about. It was almost in your face so blatantly that it bothered people but that doesn't make your sin bigger than the other one. Because will you say the s word when you've cuss but i drop it f-bomb so my sends worse because i use the f bomb us another cuss words. Just bet. so what's the difference in your send all your sin. Is that the when you cheated. You kissed and wore a condom when somebody else cheated they kissed and did. It's still cheating saying i'm not alleviate net saying it's not cheating when it comes to baseball but i also know this in two thousand seventeen. The astros weren't the only team. I think that's pretty obvious in a captain. Obvious statement when it gets to this foreign substance. I i guess. I'm a little baffled. That all my gosh. The world was coming to an end when the astros did it and listen. I'm not one of those guys. It's cutting them slack. Meaning the acid. I mean they they and they hell. They're not cutting themselves slack. Look at the jobs at cost and the heartache. It's costing them back. They know the mistake. They made the keys the coming back after the mistake. Take care of their business. That's the only way you can't take a mistake. Raise your hand sam. Sorry we screwed up and get better in anything you do with this. Am i naive enough to think. That pitchers don't do everything they can to get an advantage. Of course they do but why. Tyler is their sin smaller than the center of the team. Why is it is it. Is it because it's less in your face because trash cans pounding and you can hear it and they were told to stop by their manager. Apparent didn't and now we got a picture of blatantly go there what are the tack that they're using and vast or whatever it is that they're using and all the sudden that's not quite as bad we don't want to suspend anybody and i get it. They didn't want to spend the astros. They don't want to suspend players. But where's the line of. There's more serious than ours is i'd i honestly don't know but i think one thing that plays into the favor of the pitching thing people seeing being not as serious is because one a pitcher does. It's just the one person that's on the mound but affecting nine hitters affecting nine hitters. Yes but people see the lineup and figure all nine of those guys are using the same system nine is greater than one therefore that is more of a cheating thing than just one person using spider attackers some substance on a ball so they think because it's a team effort if a company cheats. It's more important than the ceo cheating. That's the way. I think that people can perceive it and i get that because people want it comes down so when people see your bigger cheater fits strengthened numbers. Yeah when people see cheating and sports exactly what you said. But they're so narrow minded sometimes that they see one guy in there like whoa. It's just one guy on the team. It's fine as opposed to like. I said the entire batting order. Whether it's nine guys they won't buy into the fact it's so weird to if a pitcher on a staff to okay let me. Just use it for example on dodgers. What do we think we think. Trevor bauer uses a substance right. They've investigated right. You see i mean. He used substance. We don't think walker dealer does right. I mean that's that's exactly the way people are thinking that. Okay everybody now knows that garrett cole put something on his severino severino or kluber anybody else in the lineup. Yet on the astros when they tell you like a guy like it when they say in the world says excuse me in baseball says in their investigation out to wasn't that guy. We're not willing to accept that meaning. We meaning baseball because who gets the most abused in ballparks he does al to vegas hammered in ballparks. Right and listen. I'm not saying it's okay. The astros should have been punished. But so should everybody else who cheats. But the punishments gotta be perspective. Because it's hard to well if we're getting punished by if twenty eight teams twenty. Four teams or thirty drinks are getting punished. Then it makes it then. Do we punish them all or just say okay. Guys gotta stop and send out a memo with pitcher. We're willing to accept that one. Pitcher does it but one doesn't yet. We're not willing to accept on a team that won that four players do it and one doesn't so it's it's just odd to me the way they go and i don't condone it. All i will one of those guys while we're here i don't sit back and say you know what. Hey let it go. the astros did it. There's some tarnish on it people within that organization that have come on of admitted it themselves but it doesn't mean that they can't overcome and then that's the only reason they wanna world series. I don't buy that yet. I'm just fascinated by this new thing that says well. I mean and i'm anxious. We'll hear from buster. Only after steve. Sparks joins us in twenty minutes about the approach. The memo what's going out. How closely empires are going to watch it. Then what's next once. You've been warned what's next that. That's an excellent once you've been told what's next and i do want to get into the psychological aspect of this. I really do. I want to get into the psychological aspect of when we get a chance of if they're watching it closely and if you've been a substance guy on your glove we're just looking for more spin rate however that is spider tack fastlane. Would i don't care if it's neil spun on a cut on your hand or you know some form of of sun block. I.

"Quarterback french. Very this is the sean salisbury show to. Oh and mccormack hits it in the air pretty deep to centerfield going back on itself. Estino still going back looking up at that. Ball is gone off. The batter's eye for chess. Mccormick is six home run of the year and the astros lead is twelve to two. I welcome in anytime you can start a show off with chasma. F- life's good mccormack calm. I made a twelve to fourteen to three. I will start the show. Welcome in mc and heavy t. This actually kept me awake. I had a miserable night sleep last night. I don't know why i felt good. Good day. Good sunday but you know you got a million things on your mind not only sports but getting houses situated all those things that go on the we all go through every day thinking about family. You know all those things and part of that thought processes on monday morning. Okay this week sports and astros and other win and there may be people who want to argue with this but i continue as we watch closely this baseball club and i know that the bullpen and there are some weaknesses. Every team has a few. I'm gonna tell you. I think and i don't care if the dodgers are healthy and i know it's close padres y te socks i seven hitters in the lineup when healthy cannot be better than this team it right now mile stroll saying make it eight He is. He's having a phenomenal phenomenal. What lasts three weeks. Whatever it's been month maybe three weeks two and a half three weeks. He's been really really good and we'll hear a dusty baker has to say on him six and three road trip. I'm also going take another level if the bullpen solid or decent and fromberg in this in this starting pitching continued to pitch pretty consistent and stay healthy they can win the thing even if all seven of their hitters are playing well or they're not healthy. I'm going to because they put the ball in play and don't strike out a lot. And i know that People well as this high hyperbolic everything has to go perfect. I don't think everything has to go perfect for this team to a world series contender. I don't think the padres i seven or eight hitters deeper than this. I don't i would agree with you. The dodgers lineup right. Let's say see everybody healthy comparable not better because they don't put the ball in play as much as this team does batting average and kyle tucker another 'nother level michael brantley is about as good. A pro hitter is there isn't baseball. In a matter of three games dude had nine hits four for four. What over to on saturday comes back. Goes four for five with three doubles yesterday. I was and i'm pretty critic. I not critical. I'm fair when it comes to analysis teams and maybe sometimes we're overly complimentary if it's somebody like are over overly critical of somebody. We don't try to see through that. As i get a little older and say know one game doesn't make a season one game. Share cell doesn't make player on sundays. Nfl on again a game and baseball. When there's one hundred sixty two or a playoff game basketball. But i can tell you over the course of time and looking at where third of the way through the will help more than a third of the way somewhere in that range right around there. I don't believe how many games have we played so far. What were we out with this Thirty seven thirty. A there he goes. So what's that thirty twenty fifty eight sixty five games. We'll pass a third right under passed a third of the season. I'm going to tell you. I honestly we say it seemed to say it. Every year with they're hitting as long as the poll pin doesn't piss down their leg and starting pitching stays healthy and pitches like they are and if fromberg over. The course of the season was healthy the entire year. You may be looking at a guy who'd be possibly starting in the all star game. I think he's good he could. I won't start but he could still get on that team. Hey just as healthy man and he just and yesterday as far as strike outs and the rest. Here's what's amazing. He had a good game. But what do you get to seven innings. He had a solid game. He's pitched better and at times he's still somewhat unhittable. That's the crazy thing see. That's how i judge when you're not going good. How good are you in any sport when you're not going good. What do you make in a game. I'm talking about in a game. He's been going good he's healthy. He's going really good all the entire year when he's on the on the mound but even when he's not at is like oh my gosh this is. I thought he was good yesterday. I've seen him pitch better seen in pitch worse but he don't pitch worse very often anymore he just now he just settles in. Yes and i'm telling ya major league baseball you hitters. This dude is going to be a bitch to hit as he continues on in his career he just is a and and now he realizes he's good. Look out but back to this hitting. I'm i'm just telling you. I don't i. Don't care about the yankees. Even my red sox team the dodgers the padres teams who white sox teams. Who can rake when they're all in the lineup. And there's some good ones. But i can tell you this. There is no better on a continuous basis. The first seven miles straw good for him. You know bench get involved a little bit with mccormick and we know when diaz is healthy. What goes on with him when he can play multiple position. I'm just telling you man. Every time i look up at somebody else kicking your ass at the plate every frigging time. Speaking of which. This team's gotta be pretty excited. Carlos correa talking about vibes. But before we get that number seven tyler about. Yeah i guess you're happy with the road trip..

"Seven hundred sean. Salisbury show joined now by astros general manager james. Click got feel pretty good about what's going on with this team but is is the case. It's a long season. I'll start here james i. I'd be hard pressed that when everything is good. And he's healthy as he is now to find a more talented player not only his position but in the league. Carlos correa is in rarified air. When he's right. Yeah no question. And i think the big thing is that he's really starting to turn on the ball and be aggressive And we saw that last night with a three To the left side Including what i think might be the highest home run I've ever seen But you know he's been working hard with our hitting coaches on some mechanical things that he wants to get right and it looks like it's starting to pay off is he's definitely locked in right now and it's fun to see well. I just taken over his agency. And i'd like to reopen negotiations. A i listen i could. He is n james. It's a unique situation. I want to have to get into my thing. I'm only kidding. Hammer that another time when when it gets close. We're talking baseball now. But it's really got to be one of the things when you say okay. The guy's in his final year. There's no secret about that and you want to go. I mean it's a good problem to have right him playing like this great leadership you win and him healthy while it puts pressure on everybody but man. This is kind of the way you want it going into this season. Right james one hundred percent no i. I know that sometimes people think that you know if we had conversations and they didn't ultimately lead to an agreement on some level. We don't want people to succeed. That couldn't be further from the truth. We are on the same team here. We all want the same thing we want him to have an mvp. All star season I you know. I want him to win the world series. Mvp because i mean we won the world series and then we figured out that but You know watching him play at the elite level that he plays that is really a joy and it's fun to watch him when he walked in like. He is right now to the pitcher. We go james before you. Let's see was it before you got here. But you know about him obviously and tanya and you don't know but i can remember him. You and i have discussed this pitching through struggling to get through times in frahm valdez about okay. All that great stuff but fighting through crap that sometimes people got away through. That's not a problem anymore. The stuff is stupid. good. I contend that and whoever starts i is one thing that from is got ace stuff and that if i was in a world series starting him in game one wouldn't be a problem. I think he's good. We're am i on this. I think you're dead on And he's a guy that before. I got here. I knew him by reputation. Obviously mike trout set some very complimentary things without him. The curve ball..
