"Not that she wants Mardi dead but that she just knows she wants to win. I loved the opening to. This is really great. It was so good in fact. I've listened to that song a couple times since then and I don't even like Reo speedwagon but just it. Was I remember talking about this? I was watching it going. Wait do they have a dog. I didn't know they had a dog. And then what did you do to the dog? And then as soon as she shot Martin new but in we talked about that specifically. It's not about what happens in the dream. It's about how you feel in the dream and Wendy obviously wanted to be in control and exactly what you said. So I think I'M GONNA agree with the producer. Yeah that's why I pulled that comment out because I was going to say that you did. You know we definitely did that. And also with Maya and the fish I think I called this one that it was a little bit of a metaphor to him being watched. Oh right now in a fishbowl but also Jason Bateman said that also that Marty is a fish that he's trapped which I thought was interesting. That's true that's kind of cool too. Yeah yeah all right so we had some reactions from our facebook group. You want to talk about yes. Oh yeah people are really at this point in this episode are really starting to talk about Ben saying awesome acting. He played an amazing part and a tragic figure. Obviously they had watched ahead at that point. People had questions about Karl and Anita saying they never revisited his character for the remainder of the season. And I definitely want to talk about this at the end because I think ozark. This show has a habit of inviting people into the story until they're not really relevant part of the story anymore and then we never see or hear from them again. So I've been saying all along. I predicted Rachel would return and now starting to think her stories done. I don't know that we'll see her again. And same with Carlin. Anita they served their purpose But people people were like but did didn't need a die. I mean nobody found her what happened but a lot of people also laughed when people make comments about and replayed that scene where she's rolling down the hill so I questioned some of you about what. What's funny the only thing that bothered me about this was that I I loved this scene. I just didn't feel like they had enough build up there for me. I felt surprised when Anita reacted the way that she did. And so it didn't. It just didn't work totally for me. Yeah and you'd said that there wasn't enough development of Carl to to believe that he would have just walked away from that exactly if he was Yeah I don't know but but that's one thing I like about this show. They don't spoonfeed you every single thing right. You know they leave you to puzzle it out a little bit. Just assume that you know we know what happens when Nelson walks to the diner and encounters Ben? We know what's going to happen. We don't need to see it. Oh we're going to talk about that too because a lot of people about that. A lot of people like to see things spelled out. I'm not that kind of person me there. I love it when they give you just enough. I don't need to see someone's head blown off. You know what I mean like I can. I can get what's happened. I don't need to see the cops finding Anita floating in the water in them questioning. Carl Wright can make some assumptions there. Yeah right yes but I'm pretty sure this was the episode where I really started to fall in love with Ben because it he was very emotional. It was it was. I was very emotional in this one. This might have been the one where he was in the bar. Was this the one I don't think so. Okay that's a little bit later. Well I just wrote I somebody wrote. I don't know if it was me or someone else saying I found myself very emotional watching this. I thought it was an excellent episode. That sounds like something I would have said so anyway. It's good episode. Yes yes it was so then. We'll move on episode. Four boss fight this opened with Marty's Perspective rather of the abduction. Now we actually didn't even mentioned that but at the end of episode three Marty is taken and we're not really sure. Of course people were sure because they said they noticed Mendoza which we didn't catch on at first but he was taken by the cartel and in the beginning of episode four. We see the abduction from his perspective being blindfolded which we talked about how cool that was Most of the episode revolves around him in Navarro's dungeon interspersed with flashbacks from his childhood. In the end Mardi tells Navarro that he's GonNa Flip Agent Miller. Ben Finds out mostly everything about the birds working with the cartel and route sets up the smurfs to launder money the salad yes the smurfs. And we've got that mysterious call from Helen Right. Well listen doesn't do we see Nelson at any point before that phone call. I thought he was. I play down her. She was called drive her and the kids down he did. He was the driver. I think he's always been around. I think he's been yeah. How does she explain that to her? Kids I don't know who's this Nelson Guy. Yeah for I. Just I don't know it did not sound like she was talking to Nelson. It sounded like she was talking to someone that was not there because she said things are getting complicated. Yeah let's put a pin in that too because that's another thing they wanNA talk about all right. App later so quick. Note from the other podcasts. That I'm listening to. They said that set was built on a sound stage out of fiberglass the dungeon and Jason Bateman said. It really hurt. You said it was very painful when he was being kind of thrown around down there and Navarro's mansion since I do love to find the actual spots I'm going to be on a hunt for this one we can travel again. Navarro's mansion is a mausoleum of the family that started Coca Cola. This Muslim is in the middle of Atlanta. And apparently you could go find it. And that's where they filmed Navarro's mansion. Wow yes that's quite a quite a thing it's cool. Wow very cool I WANNA go see. A to Shannon okay. Let's go all right yeah. This was an interesting one because I'm watching Marty. The whole time going know Marty. I wouldn't say that I wouldn't say that either. No I wouldn't say that. But ultimately he comes out ahead boss fight right episode five. I'm going to say it Shannon. It came from it. Came from mich- walk-on I know you're GonNa try and correct me if I'm GonNa to tell you you're wrong. I know I know I actually like the way you pronounce it much better. I think we should stick with our pronunciation. But I'm just saying Chris Monday executive producer. He says Michigan cone. He's wrong. I'm looking. I'm looking at up right now. Sorry Chris you should just say. Oh a quickly. The two sounds should be distinct yet will blend together to make son much like Wa. But the two thousand miles are meant to be put together in the same syllable. Michoacan which you walk on. So Chris. Sorry wrong Okay so it's a reference to a horror movie but there are a lot of horror movies it came from. I have not been able to figure that out at all but they did say that there was some reference to her. Here we go. It came from outer space. It came from beneath the sea. It came from the desert. It's just it's not no it's not okay actual name of it. It's just the title itself he supposed to refer to like stir movie okay and that that really makes sense because you know several people were like Marty went to Mexico but who came back like what came back from there. Oh you think that's what it meant. Yes well he served charter guy. I mean he's a harder more rude more. Dismissive guy comes back. I thought he was a kinder gentler. Mardi when he came back he was calm. He was even but that's because he knew what he wanted. He decided what he wanted. Yeah but okay Kurt with people. He was very no no. He seemed very disconnected from emotion. Yes but agree with that. Yeah I would say that because remember before he was like was this after his scene with the therapist where he yells at. Wendy and I don't even know. Who are nope. No this this this this episode. This episode was mainly focused on Mardi. And Wendy. Go into the Horse Farm Okay and and the horrific Darlene and Wyatt hookup which oddly. I'm coming around to. We'll talk about that. Okay all right so anything. What else you guys want to say all right so they go the horse farm. They hook up I at at this point. I'm watching this episode thinking it's all GonNa work out. I don't know why it was only sold five. There were five four. Go and I'm like. Oh they're going to buy the horse farm and it's all GonNa work out and that was not true yet. No no when he gets a glimpse of what her life could be like if her plan worked. You know she thinks it's all going to be great and one thing that Jason Bateman says is that they wanted in setting up this horse farm. They wanted something luxuria but grounded in nature. They wanted to set up something so gorgeous so they could castrate it That they did. Yeah I tried. That was really cool. I love that I love these little sneak. Peeks into the inner workings of their mind also makes me wonder. Like who are these geniuses? That right this stuff I know I know I mean not only. Do you have to come up with the idea and the symbolism but then you have to write really good dialogue and you have to create the you know location scout and you have to film it in a like my mom? I cannot wrap my mind around filmmaking or or TV. Making I just can't it's so exciting such such The words not coming to me respect. Yes there you go God. I'm so good with words and it also makes you watch shows like Fuller House and go. Yeah THIS IS GARBAGE. Sorry it is well the other cool thing they said in the podcast was that the search shot of the horses balls in the cooler there was actually a call back to the eyeball in the jar in season. One you guys remember that. Who's eyeball wasn't when somebody del killed? Okay yeah yeah all kind of cool all I can say his horse balls are way bigger than I ever knew. Yeah yeah pretty big pretty and a better time for why lean yes. Let's talk about some. Why lean okay in the podcast. Chris Mundy said that someone threw out the idea early on in the writer's room about Darlene and Wyatt and everybody laughed and dismissed it but he said the idea kept coming around until they just kind of said. Well Yeah let's do it. And they said when they first called Charlie. He laughed for a solid three minutes when they told him they said that was also very important to them that they play the scene as if they were the same age they didn't want anything to seem awkward about it which I think Kudos it seemed. Even though I couldn't watch a lot of it I mean I really. I really had to look away. But it didn't seem like a very natural love scene. Yes yes I mean they. They both are devoid. They have no emotional partner and they come together and you know it's going to be okay. I don't think it's going to shop you. Why Lean Families Shannon and I talked about this a lot Jay. I WanNa hear what you think about this. Yeah I don't mail back. Fourteen year old girls in that but this. I can speak to. Can you look when you're that age as a Guy You're like sex. Is The wind blowing? Okay let's go. Yes Virgin at this point because that's something we discussed. We thought maybe he was. You know I could see that. Yeah well here's he handled it way better than a virgin would have. I would agree he. He demonstrated some some moves there. That aren't moves but yeah I think he was a virgin. But I do think that at that age. You're given that opportunity you're probably taking it. Take an IT okay. Well and she was probably a maternal figure for him to I. I know it's weird to factor that in but you know that is a factor with already established when she told him of his roots. That you've got good routes and she made him feel worthy right right now right. So yeah yeah I mean. Living on her property you could see that they're interacting with each other. Every day you can see even. There's a physical interaction when she's washing his hair that there might be some chemistry developing. They're just because the proximity and I it felt real to me I I..

"And so you know. I kept thinking like why. Why pregnant woman obviously is for this. The timing the sense of urgency and I think that will that may or may not come into play in the next season as well. I don't know Not to mention that because you guys have been your podcast pointed out that they have to sort of build in a certain time gap to accommodate the fact that the kids are going to be substantially older from season to season. Yes so mainly Jona at this point right right. So what does that mean in terms of Meyer having her baby being on this case her role in season for it's GonNa be interesting to see how they play that. Yeah it will. I predict that's just going to there's going to be glossed over. I predict. That's what I think. Thanks Shannon thing. We're GONNA have to make a leap of faith and we're just going to move on. That's what I think. A couple notes again from executive producer. Chris Monday he said that the time for me to fly cold open in this episode was to set up. Wendy's head space. Not that she wants Mardi dead but that she just knows she wants to win. I loved the opening to. This is really great. It was so good in fact. I've listened to that song a couple times since then and I don't even like Reo speedwagon but just it. "I'm inclined to agree with you. I know what the show runners said but she makes a point of straightening the bed. Well why do that? I mean you're the same person that's about to ruin the mill. But I do see your point. That's a very loving gesture to to arrange the bedcovers. I I think she did. And then she through the covers back. If I recall correctly so I think it was. She came in just to maybe sort of lear. Look around and then I think she just was kind of like. Yeah fuck it. And that was it well. Also they used a radiohead song at the end of this first episode. And they also used a radiohead song in the end of season. One Oh okay. So the first episode of season one the pilot so that they're talking we're talking about how there and this is where I got the information that they're actually thinking about season four because Chris said that season three has parallels to seize them one and that season four we'll have parallels to season two. Will the snails were a big part of season? Two yes and I think that were being set up for that. But I don't WANNA get ahead. I don't want to get ahead okay. We did have a lot of listener feedback on this one so the only thing that was sort of open ended with this episode. I didn't feel like it was something that was missing but a lot of people felt like they sort of didn't answer. What happened at the end of season? Two because at the end of season to their offices blown up. And we're all like. Oh my God I'm always like can't they ever get a break and now we assume it's about six months later so I know a lot of people were like wait. What happened. What their office and I was one of them. I mean I I think you put that moment in the offices. Blown up by Frank senior at the end of the season it. Y- that's what you're left with. It's a it's a very big image. It sets up a dilemma and they never resolve it into me offices. Don't get blown up without anyone looking into it. I mean at least possibly even the FBI for terrorism implications so the fact that they just let that go is that to me was the biggest hole that didn't get filled of didn't get filled between a season to season three see. I felt that was answered. Not Outright but answered the fact that they were lying low we we established in this first episode that they aren't laundering. Any money right now and that the mob is involved in the casino business. So obviously what I got out of. It was that was kind of the end result of the building being blown up. I'll put it to this. This agent penny gets killed the guy that he was investigating had his office blown up. Why wouldn't the FBI be all over that? As a matter of logic that would sort of tie the two together and it would bring a lot more. Fbi FBI scrutiny. If something like that happened I mean him. Getting killed is one thing but then the Guy. He was investigating his office blown up that that gets a little bit of attention. I would think I I would have at least liked him to it. Just acknowledged like oh please we just got the office reopened or you know just something. That gives a nod. What happened and they didn't but all right if you're listening if you are one of the writers of Ozark. I hope you're taking notes on this. So you know what to do for season four okay. We're GONNA move onto episode two which was called Civil Union. Why don't you walk us through that when Shannon all right well Wendy goes ahead with expansion plans she loops in Helen and she loops Navarro? She's just becoming very brazen Mardian. Wendy Goto big muddy. The the other casino and try to buy it and sabotages that deal but in the end. Ruth makes it happen. You guys know how. It went down The other things quickly in that episode Darlene invites Wyatt to work for her. Zane her cabin and we meet Ben. Wendy's brother Aaron Helen's daughter Yes so this was probably a big setup episode but I have to say I really Kinda loved the Carl and Anita Story Arc. You know why because they feel like typical ozark people. Not that I know and I don't mean to insult anybody. I've never been to lake of the ozarks but Martin Wendy feel like city slickers really meant Carlin. Anita feel more like that. That's probably what it would be like. They're that's what they would really be like so I enjoyed that dynamic agreeing. Yeah well a couple of things again. I want to comment on from the post play podcast. They said that they wanted to show bipolar in Bannon. A very careful loving way and they said Ben was the emotional lynch pin of the whole season which I totally agree They also say Aaron. Now we talked about you and I talked about Aaron. And how we're like what the Hell is she doing on the show like we didn't like her. We didn't think she was serving any purpose. What they said is her. Purpose was two dimensional allies Helen to make her more real. Jason Bateman said about Helen and Ben. He said to Chris Monday. That was pretty vicious on your part. We know we're going to kill these two so let's make the audience really loved them. Well I don't think I love telling you know but yeah definitely I mean Ben yes. Ben was meant to dementia allies. Wendy which I know. I said that Aaron was meant to dimension allies. Oh okay all right and I think because we always sent I think because I mean in season two Helen alluded to her family in alluded to her children but I think she becomes more complex fuller character with those interactions with Aaron. Yeah but she never came across to me as a loving mother or like there was never a I have to admit. There's not one moment in this entire season where I really felt like. Oh I care about Helen. I'd say maybe when she came over to the Barbecue I was like our Helen and Wendy becoming friends. That's nice and I think that is the only positive feeling I had about Helen. The entire season. If I'm being honest. Yeah I think they tried. You know there's the scene where she tries to punish Erin for when she was down at the beach with the gun situation and all that and I just. I don't feel like it hit home. I don't feel like it was a big success. I think they tried to now. There is the scene. I think it's in this episode where she's driving down with the kids and she has an interaction where there were there Soon to be ex husband where she wants. Yes exactly it felt to me. She wanted the kids to be with her and I could empathize with their desire to have both of her children with her for the summer and she can't end a I got. I felt better in terms of seeing her as a fuller character. Maybe wasn't entirely successful by understand what they were trying to do. I don't know I still have mixed feelings about all of that because again. We've never seen Helen in this context. And we talked about this during the podcast. We never really understood why hell and move to Ozark the Ozark area in the first place right and why she would bring her children when clearly her business was one hundred percent related to the cartel. I don't know it. It didn't entirely work for me and I really didn't like Erin as a character so I don't know that just that just didn't feel entirely genuine to me. Nothing about Aaron did or their relationship to me. It's it struck me that Helen was bringing the kids to the ozarks. Because I think she alluded to the fact or something that she gets the kids for the summer yet and I do remember summer. The summer was going to begin on X. Date as opposed to the father sent out the amber alert. I think she she made it was. She wanted to be with the kids. She wanted to get out of Chicago and have the kids with her over the summer. And that's why she did it because it was really just wanting the quality time she wanted to to be a mom that had quality time with their kids. I mean I got that. I just didn't buy that okay. You know what I mean. You know what I mean and the other thing about Aaron I think we sort of I don't know if it's in this episode of the next one where we learned that you know I on her agenda. She wants to lose her virginity. I felt like that was a little bit of lazy writing. I mean I know why they did it but it felt like we were watching Charlotte all over again Yeah Oh yeah and I thought it was going to be A. I thought when we first met Aaron and she. I said that I remember writing in my notes. Charlotte two point. Oh and I thought at that point that maybe Erin was going to become a more integral part of the business somehow like Charlotte did or maybe go down. The emancipate. I just thought they were going to draw more parallels there on Aaron. Just kind of fizzled out for me. Yeah question of the two of you. I mean this is one of the reasons I really wanted to be on the podcast. Because to get your perspective that thing that Aaron wanting to lose her virginity as if it was some sort of goal on a performance chart that didn't ring true to me but I realized I've never been a teenage girl and having Parsons I wanna ask you is. Is this real? This is this a real thing that a young woman might feel at that age. I mean when I was growing up. I maybe I wasn't that girl so it's hard for me to say yeah. I was going to say the same thing when I was growing up. I would say no. I don't feel like that was a thing at all. You know I remember when it did happen to a girl it was usually you know something you might share with your one. Best friend and it was really serious intense. You know event not just something you playoff for the hell of it because you wanna get it over with but I feel like I have a teenage daughter myself now and just knowing you know. Thankfully she's still very open with me Knowing the things that kids say in the way they talk and the stuff they're exposed to tick tock for Christ's sake. I mean I feel like that may be somewhat accurate today unfortunately injury no I know yeah so anyway. Glad I'm not a teenage girl. Yeah Alright can on tight to mine episode. Three Kevin Cronin was here. How many people Google Kevin Cronin when it came on me and I was like. Oh are you speedwagon. I didn't do when I was waiting to see. I'm like oh well that's GONNA become a parent during the episode. And then it wasn't now my husband was like Duh. I'm sure he knew so. Well in this episode we have. Let's See Quick Rundown Wendy Navarro. Still keep calling each other. I don't know Wendy Convinces Carl the stand up to Anita. There's a hillbilly fistfight. Ben Has some feelings for Ruth we need. Fbi agent. Maya Miller and agent Athens gets Mafia Tommy as a CI Tommy Idiot. I'M GONNA put a pin here about that hillbilly fist fighting what I think it portends for season four. Okay it's very. I think it's very very meaningful. Oh what's going to happen at this? Hillbilly fist fight. This was Wendy. And darlene. Is that what? Yes we're we're MARKELLE. Okay all right so a couple of things that were interesting about this episode. I I don't know why but this season I'm really paying attention to the intentional choices. Here Maya Miller is a woman and she's pregnant she's not only pregnant she's very pregnant and I I mean. Obviously that's intentional. And so you know. Wendy's head space..

Why because they feel like typical ozark people. I Dunno it. "So yeah it's available on apple and spotify and all the other podcast platforms. It sounds like you might be valuable to Navarro. He might be calling me and I'll tell you cloud is where it's at right now. Everybody's remote and they're all like wait. How do we do this? So yes this good time for that. So yeah I know a chance to ask and I want to know too. Why are you initially skeptical of Ozark? You guys probably anticipated it when the the initial premise of the show came across my radar screen. I said yes. Been there done it. I liked it better when it was breaking bad. You know it was like this. Mild mannered guy gets involved with a Mexican drug cartel and it changes his life and so I thought again how. How could you improve on breaking bad? But for some reason I watched that for show and then again when Gary's body went don't chew I said this show is prepared to go in directions. That may be interesting. And I. It's it's it's it's excellent. It's to really really excellent. I wouldn't say it's better than breaking bad because that's like asking you know. Which is your favorite child. The really good but they're they're both really excellent shows and I think that a lot of people who maybe haven't seen ozark or haven't seen breaking bad and they're hearing these parallels the the main difference the way I see it. Is that in breaking bad the main character Walter. He knows what he's getting into any noses he's not getting out he doesn't care like he is dying whereas Mardi wants to survive. Yes that's what I see the difference and I've never seen breaking bad. Yeah you should I know I know. I think I've seen the first episode and it's been on my list for a while of of things to watch but I have to say that when I started season one it was a very slow start for me. I was like interesting but okay and it took me until I remember episode four. I don't even remember what was in episode four but that was the episode that made me like Oh. I can't wait to see what happens next. And so I find whether it's a new show or whether it's a new season I always have to wait until that point before I say yea or Nay for this season I think it was episode. Three was that was all in for me. I was all invited cancer. Quick questions if you guys. What made you decide to do this show because I one of the reasons I got to. Your show is there. Seems to be a possibility of ozark. Podcasts as opposed to say breaking bad or game of thrones which have tons you guys seem to be the the one of the few options for ozark listeners. What made you guys decide to make the investment in the show? Yeah I think we just got lucky. There we had just gone to the podcast movement conference before season. Two of those are came out and one of the takeaways from that conference and networking with other podcasters was that we should hone in on a specific show. A lot of podcast is just. You know what we're watching a different topic every week. So he said well ozarks coming out. We both love it. Let's dive in and do that. And we just like you said we happened to get lucky that not a lot of other people are podcasting Ozark and I think though Shannon I think you were probably the driver behind it because I I love the show but Shannon loves the show Don't want to just blowing up on that Shannon. I believe you're the one that actually went to Lake Ozark. And you've seen the result is I wasn't it wasn't like ozark though it's not in the ozarks it's in it's in Atlanta Park in Atlanta. And yes that was that was extremely exciting. That dedication to me. It's the kind of thing that separates your podcast other podcasts. I listened to the kind of attention to detail and your investment in the show and the characters in the fact that you took Kayak out to see the boat really awesome really awesome. She's only a little bit of a stalker up. Sally a little bit. But thank you for that. Those kind words and on that note. I think we can transition to some listener feedback. We got a nice email from Thomas. He said I listened to quite a few podcasts that recap TV shows and yours stands out and that you actually listen to one another and are open minded enough to acknowledge when you get things wrong. Like Shannon does a lot. I predicted when I was when I was copying and pasting this feed back into my notes. I predicted that failure was going to say we don't often get things wrong so I was close as yes. You just dumped it on me so now. I know that's inside kid I kid yes you are right in that. Sometimes and that's what's Great. We both watched the show this show in particular. We've said that we are really watching it for the detail. We're taking notes while we're watching it and to that end. Sometimes the other person does miss something or sometimes we were just like. Oh I didn't get that's what that meant. So was that guitar or right. We know about the guitar. You guys are Yo- Guitar okay. So we'RE GONNA share a lot about season three but we know the question on everyone's mind is well. What about season four? Yes so I am in some Ozark fan groups as we've just determined and established rather I'm a super fan and I know some people that actually are on the crew on Ozark and what they told me is that the filming process can take six to eight months. The Post production process can take five to six months. Now we are in the middle of the great twenty twenty not so great pandemic so by the time. We're actually able to go out. Be around other people when these actors can get back to work whenever that may be. You're looking at at least a year beyond that before we see Ozark now. There was exactly a year between season one season. Two there was a year and a half between season two and season three so. I'm predicting I'm predicting two years. That's what I'm predicting and before you even get to all of that. The show has to be officially renewed so at as of this moment the show has not been renewed. I think it's kind of a no brainer that it will be but netflix usually waits to get. I think at least four weeks of viewer data before they make the official decision. But I think everyone's sort of planning and from what I've read. The writers are kind of getting their shit together to figure out what season four would look like so Shannon you talked about from production standpoint. But they haven't even written season for yet. I have a feeling there are actually starting it. Because I'm going to be talking about the podcast. This called post play Ozark. I think this is a Netflix produced. Podcast I believe but it's called post play Ozark and a highly recommended if you're fan I've been listening to a couple of episodes. The final one comes out next week after we record this so I don't have all the information but from the way they're talking. This is a podcast with Jason Bateman and executive producer. Chris Mundy from the things. They're saying they've already got a lot in mind for season for. They know where it's going. I have to think that the metrics for this show for this season we'll be through the roof. I mean it's a great season per se but then if you add into the fact that this is one of the few shows net flix released just before the shelter place. Orders came into play. You've got to imagine that there are a ton of people I mean. I'm not sure if it's provable. Maybe anecdotally unionized until me but everyone I know is asking. What SHOULD WE WATCH? What SHOULD WE WATCH? Ozark is on everyone's short list of yeah I heard good things about that and Obviously the clogged show is excellent. I can't imagine that they aren't moving forward with all speed. Well it's funny because the facebook algorithm ensures that anytime anybody I know on facebook is asking what should I watch? Facebook shows it to me. We've got a group for that by the way while we're talking about it. I don't think we mentioned that. You can connect with us. Stinger podcast everywhere online on twitter on instagram and on facebook but one of the places that we love to interact with our listeners through our facebook groups we have one called ozarks dirty laundry dedicated just to Ozark discussion and then we have one called. Tv movie discussion. And that's where we answer questions. Like what should I watch next? And you know the the big thing right now is that they literally have a captive audience and there are a lot of returning shows to net flix either this month or next month so. I think that they're going to continue to see. Not only their ratings go through the roof but their biggest issue is attracting new subscribers. And I think that they've created the perfect storm for attracting new subscribers. Yep well they didn't create it but it it is the perfect storm All right so let's dive into season three and let's talk about overall thoughts. The biggest question being was this the best season yet. I say yes I say yes. That's it to me the time with season one. I mean there is an energy in a in a magic and attention in season one. That really got me hooked on it. Obviously but this was an outstanding outstanding season on its own. It was Laurie. Lenny's acting this year was incredibly good. Well not just hers in. We'll talk more when we talk about. Ben and Tom. Pelfrey the actor who played that part. I just you know I think as a show matures and you get to know the complexity of the characters. I mean season one. We were being introduced to a lot of different people season. Two they were still developing season. Three it's just you know we've seen the good we've seen bad and we're seeing some people growing we're seeing some people come full circle so I just really like the maturity of it. I do Miss Jacob. Snell though I just have to say that. Yeah he was a pen tacit character. Here's enough Marty this season. I mean he had the episode where you know. Obviously he was in The the prison in a Mexico but I felt that in a in a good way the shows gone beyond Marty's dilemmas. You know it's now we're we're now dealing with Dr Leans Dilemmas Roots Dilemmas Wendy's dilemmas. It's become bigger than Mardi by almost feel like I didn't see Enough Marty this season I felt fine with the amount of Marty. I mean I'm not a big lake. Feminist may women especially not these women you know. It was a lot of strong female roles. And I said this before and I'll say it again and what I loved is that they didn't cast super beautiful plastic women. They cast real women in real roles and I really just have to say Kudos for that. There are there are a lot of bad ass. Women Only seems which passed the Bechtel test and beyond interns and just the quality of those dynamic actions the tensions between them. It was great so I wanNA actually talk about the casting for a minute. So as we move from season to season three season two we saw the loss of quite a few characters. I mentioned Jacob Snell already. We lost buddy. We knew his time was limited from the very first season we lost mason or he rather he lost himself. We lost cade and petty. And Rachel and Rachel didn't die but she disappeared. She was in season one and two. And then we'll talk at the end. If we think we'll see Rachel again season three saw smaller roles. I thought for Jona in Charlotte but expanded roles for Wyatt and Helen and then Kansas City Mafia in fact Helen in season two was listed as a recurring character and in season three she was of course a regular character and then we had a lot of new characters this season including Navarro and I had to look because I was like did did we never see him before but we never did. I guess we dealt with Dell directly and then I don't remember I guess. Helen was sort of the face of the cartel in season two. Yeah we had agent Maya Miller from the FBI. We have Erin. Who Was Helen's daughter? Tommy and Frank Cosgrove junior from the Kansas City mafia And then some of my favorite character actors have Carlin Anita and then of course sue therapist and Ben and bit and Ben. Doug yes yeah I've forgotten. Yeah he had a pretty good part each laughing because favor for God him in her notes. Did you know what and I think that I remember that I forgot him and then I meant to go back and anyway I did not forget you Ben. So let's talk about the body count who didn't make it out alive. And I know in the very beginning Shannon and I were trying to predict who would stay in who would go and we knew we. We assume that the bird family would stay intact. I think we predicted that darlene would go by or at least I did and I know we predicted Helen's demise we just weren't sure the nature of it Jay. Did you have any thoughts on? Who would not make it out alive. I was pretty sure..

Podcast I believe but it's called post play Ozark highly recommended if you're fan I've been listening to a couple of episodes. It's become bigger than Mardi by almost feel like I didn't see enough marty this season. It's I felt fine with the amount of Marty. I mean I'm not a big lake feminist. May Women especially not these women and you know it was a lot of strong female roles and I said this before and I'll say it again and what I loved is that they didn't cast super beautiful plastic women they cast real women In real roles and I really just have to say Kudos for that there are there are a lot of bad ass. Yeah he had a pretty good part which laughing because favor for God him in her notes did you know what and I think that I remember that I forgot him and then I meant to go back and anyway I did not forget you Ben. So let's talk about the body count who didn't make it out alive and I know in the very beginning Shannon and I were trying to predict who would stay in who would go and we knew we. We assume that the bird family would stay intact. I think we predicted that darlene would go by or at least I did and I know we predicted Helen's demise we just weren't sure the nature of it Jay. Did you have any thoughts on? Who would not make it out alive. I was pretty sure..

"It just kept going. Oh I was trying to think about this. I'm guessing why it's probably about twenty or no probably like nineteen because he's just graduated high school right just graduated has darlene. He's gotta be like sixty or sixty eight. Not least I think she's probably late fifties early. She just she's weather looking so it's hard to say she's like super old but okay. Let's just roughly. There's a forty year age difference between them. I don't even. I don't even understand and I just kept thinking of is Charlie the actor that's horrible but like that's weird that's like kissing your grandmother. Yeah I mean Kudos Dude. I mean really. You took well for the show. But it's got to be weird for her to. Yeah yeah anyway okay. Let's just let's just move on it have I couldn't even I couldn't even watch. I shield my eyes and I kept peaking and I'm like it's not over yet it made me cringe for sure for sure. But didn't they have a sex scene between Jacob DARLENE IN LIKE SEASON ONE? I think but it wasn't even that long. It was just like them in bed. Her her on top of like did when they were finishing right. But my point there is they. Aren't it what it's not like? They were ever Carlin Anita Right No. She's she's a wild woman even though she here's a question I had do. You think why it's virgin. I kinda think you might be when Charlotte asks him in season. Two like huck all this time. He never tried to kiss me. You know and he was. I think he said something like I like older women much older. I don't know I think he just kind of said something like girls. Don't really think of me that way. I never have to be. It could be and sometimes we know with men their first they fall in love with them and I'm sure he's GonNa paint in his mind this picture of him having a happy family and a son and a Oh. Yuck Yuck all right so both Ben and Wendy are starting to see differences in Mardi but to me he just seems like a kinder Gentler Marty. And what's wrong with that? That's that's how I'm feeling will bend. Says that is not Mardi Bird? That guy's vibrating. Just like hyper. And that's how I feel he. He's on a mission. That's how I am right and then I wrote. Oh Charlotte has a bit of a power trip. I think I see Wendy and her and I can't remember what that scene was about. Oh Well Charlotte goes to see Tommy and we are going to talk about this in our dirty dilemma today. Oh right she goes to him and tells him to stay away from Aaron and he's like do you know my dad is and she's like do you know who my dad is. No He's not the son he's not a son. Oh He's like. Do you know who I work for. Yes right yes and you know she said this was on Marty's orders now. She's playing a very dangerous game right there and she walked away very satisfied with herself thinking she. Oh yeah everything. Did you see the smile on her face when she walked away? Trip just family. Well we find out about. Wendy's meeting Kansas City and she's meeting if I got the name right. Jim Reynolds Thorpe. What a horrible name. Who has the right hand? Man of Wilkes Charles Wilkes Right. Wasn't that his name. Yup and she wants dirt on Maya. Jim says it's a fucking terrible idea But she's like okay. Well that needs like but I can do it and I'm thinking I would be a person that can just know how to get information people. How do you do that? Would you want to know I got it like you? Can? Here's my keyboard. I got it. Power comes a lot of danger now. So yeah she's looking for dirt on my end and they don't really find much well they do find out that they said she's a known crusader right. He said her dad went to prison for some kind of financial scamming. So she's taking it upon her. It's her life's work to take down. People like no father so wendy thinks well all right. This isn't GonNa Happen in Mardi is like I can use that rights go right. And they're reflecting going of what happened to him in Mexico and I came up with one word. I think MARDI got complete clarity when he was in Mexico. Okay I think he just has this vision of what he needs to do and he's just GonNa make it happen. He's not like I mean I don't know he's like no. This is my mission. This is my objective. I'm going to make it happen period right. But in the meantime they did show why Darlene again and and I just I feel so awkward now around Wyatt Darlene. But it's clear that this wasn't a hey. I don't know what happened but that can't happen again because they're like holding hands and kissing each other's hands and like you guys please stop. Yeah and they`re. They're planting the poppy fields again. And why it says he never tried heroin. And darlene. Says I won't have junkie in my bed right in miles like a cringed again. I know and then she makes a great quote. There's pain that uses you and there's pain that you use to Wyatt. Yeah so so Marty's back with my up and she says you should help people marty. It beats being abducted and she. She makes a couple of statements about like what she would rather be working on the people she would rather be going after an. It's clear that she doesn't want to be on this case which I think is something that Mardi will eventually use to his advantage. I mean she's got to be like what six or seven months pregnant. At least she wants to go home right. I don't get how he's GONNA I don't know it because no because he can't entrap her. It can't be that it's got to be something. He's going to have to appeal to her moral grounds again. This is why I think there's a deeper plan happening. That's it all just goes back to that so Wendy's back with What's her name again? Sue Sue the therapist. I'd good old gal and apparently sue it's GonNa play both sides man soo's making out. She is sh when but Wendy doesn't know that she's dirty and she's like do you is that something You know that you would be interested in entertaining and I think I would guess Wendy. I would be interested in taking more money from you. Yes we'll bend brings ruth her French toast sticks and he's kind of trying to flag down through one of the cameras in the casino durable. I just love ban. I hope he doesn't turn bad or die or something. It's not going to end well because the best ruth is a tormented ruth. I don't know I take care of them like sitting on a dock together like with kind of like a sunset type of thing. I saw a picture online. I I just want a happy ending but I don't think it's coming. No one's getting the ending on this show. Come on yeah. Yeah you're right so he he gets her to come down and gives her the French toast sticks and he's like dinner and a show and he brings her outside and they're sitting by a cosgrove. Juniors FANCY. What kind of car is it? Transient marrow yet. It's one of those. Yeah and there's a bunch of birds coming down on it and reflect. What is that and he psycho fifty pounds? A bird seed yeah. He dumped birdseed all over so the birds are just going to basically shit all over the car which is excellent. She loves it. That's like that is roots style right there. Exactly exactly so. I think he might have just want her heart. Yeah Deed Yeah and so then. Mardi trying to win over Maya. By giving her evidence on case he pulls up an old case. And he's like you know you could reopen this case. You do this this and this. Which was his plan. He mentioned that he's going to be his plan. And she's pretty much like No that's not how this works. You go to jail then you help me. You have to admit to this you go to jail you serve your time then you can me. You're not giving me anything now. And he's like well. I WANNA prove myself. That's a stupid position to take. He doesn't have to prove himself because he's already been offered the deal by her so I think it's a really stupid tactic. I don't know what he's after but I feel like everything he's doing is intentional. I do too. I definitely do. She's going to be more challenging than he thought unless he thought unless this is just a test and he's feeling her out yet unless there's another plan yeah so I don't know and then Oh Jeez. The horse farm right We see Helen there. And I'm like Holy Shit. Yeah the the car drives up and I actually was making a no and I saw the car which looked like Helen's car and I just saw the other. You know like the big guys come out and I was like wait who this in my husband was like Helen. What is how undoing? Farm Dan. You Helen. Yep Don't mess with horses. Animals are like my trigger so I was not happy with this episode but before we get go go back to the Horse Farm. We Have Maya and Marty meeting in a hotel room. Assuming it's her hotel room but it's also I don't know a place without cameras without microphones. Right yes right. What he was thinking yes and she says you know you need to admit that you were you were kidnapped. And he does doesn't he? Yes yes and he reveals a very important bit of information there. He said you saved my life. Oh right because she is the one responsible for flagging in freezing that Navarro account that allowed Mardi to prove himself to Navarro and he says no one else could have known how to do that. I know you did it so do you think she intentionally did that. That he okay. Yes one hundred percent okay. One hundred percent so it's practically like she's working with him. I mean she knows everything but in less he says it. There's nothing she can do but then he does say it. And then we don't know where the west of that conversation went so I think what's going to happen now that we're talking through? This is that he is going to convince Maya to seem like she's on board with the cartel but really they're both going to be working together to bring the cartel down but they're gonna be doing it from the inside right. That's what I think too. I said it I so I get credited. I said that language is not I did true. Whatever you guys who said I you tell us tell us I said it said Rakia right now. Okay anyway okay. So then worth horse farm and I'm really fucking pissed off about this scene. I'm so pissed off about this scene. Because we find out off a pissed off because their horses leave horses out of it kill somebody. Don't mess with a horse. So Varo we find out what. Kill the horse. No but Navarro run at the farm because that's where a rival drug lord. I think you caught the name of the drug Lord Castel Louganis. That guy has a stud and so he has the stud castrated so he can no longer whatever but I think it's because he got a bunch of cronies to come in and just basically chopped the balls off and Wendy is clearly taken aback by this Yup and Jan. She's naive. She's been so naive about this. And she says I WANNA Call Navarro. Because because Wendy's Helen's and Helen knows hey I'm just following orders. I have do what I'm told and you know. Wendy convinces Helen to give her phone. Call it just stopped because I think that's very interesting. I feel like Helen. Wants Wendy to either. Wake the fuck up or get in trouble or something. I think that she wants the. Helen needs a shift in the balance of power. Yep and Wendy is yelling at him saying I thought we were partners now. That was a stupid line. That was really dumb. Like how could you think? Do you think you are partners? And he says I own you you exist for me to use that scared me and then I wrote manner. Those are some big balls and at first I was like am I referring to Wendy in them. Like oh no. They're literally were big balls in the scene. They put them in a cooler. Yes we're going to send them. Oh Yes oh yes oh yes. And that's the end of it but but when he tried to call Mardian you notice. He's walking out of the hotel and he lets her call. Go to voicemail. I totally missed that. Oh okay he did so I still. I stick by my claim that Marty's got a bigger plan. All right well. Wendy's pissed and I think she knows now that Helen's not her friend was never really. You're not the really thought she would be. But we still don't know who. Helen was talking to in the last episode. Do you remember yet when she said I think you'd better get here? Did she say again Things are getting complicated Yes who was she talking? I don't know but it came from Michoacan what came from Mitchell. Walk on the horse the other drug lord. We don't know well no. I did a little research. And here's what I found Mitchell. Walk-on produces more avocados than any other state in Mexico which is the world's largest co which is the world's largest supplier of Avocados. And I can't really figure out how that plays into this episode. That's just your geography lesson for the day. Well maybe Michelle Malkin where Castella goodness from. That's what I was thinking. That's that's what I was thinking..

"'cause obviously she doesn't want these guys hanging around very early and she says you know my parents are. GonNa be home soon. So you guys have to leave and Thomas well. Let me use your restroom. And I would have told them I'd be like you're a guy. Use a tree you know. I used the lake. Yeah that's what I would have said. But you know he goes up to the house and maybe he had to poop. Joanna maybe maybe maybe a beer does not to use them. Yeah so Joanna. Kinda wanders up there and finds Tommy coming out of his parents room and bathroom so you know Jona Charlotte are immediately like okay. What the hell and of course Erin has no clue what's happening. But they throw they throw Tommy out pretty quickly right. And He makes a comment about Helen Pierce and they get that look on their face. Like Oh shit. He knows who she is and and they don't want Erin to get like they feel like it will. They will be held personally responsible which wouldn't be their fault. If this douchebag says something but I think that they're very scared very worried because Helen was pretty threatening to Charlotte. Yes yeah hundred percent. Yes so Wendy and Martier having more of a heart to heart. I maybe this is back in Back they're staying in the cabin or whatever and Marty reveals. I spent a decade afraid of a guy and now I know what I'm up against. It wasn't what I expected and I didn't act the way I expected and so I think in his mind he built up this this monster which he is a monster in a way But for some reason Mardi no longer fierce him. Yeah Yeah I thought that was very insightful. Comment that Marty made. And it tells us a lot about where his head is right now right and he still thinks he can pull put Maya into his pocket and what we're seeing is risk averse. Marty is finally taking a risk and Wendy doesn't know what to do with it or I still think. It may all be grander plan. That he's just going to pretend to get my in his pocket. I'm I'm still. I don't think so this point I don't think so I think he's on the up and up but okay okay. So then we've got ruth waiting for a drop. Yes so is there was this Tommy. It was okay. That's what I thought. And he's the one that made a deal with the feds right. It is correct traps ruth in the back and then what happened right so I'm assuming at some point someone she's GonNa tell them already or tell someone the story but you know a couple of scenes later. She's just walking down the road and apparently had called bend to come pick her up. Saint I guess maybe they just wanted to scare. Maybe they're just fucking with her. I don't know I don't know but but I feel like they explain it because that annoyed the hell out of me I was like. Oh my God ruth like I'm so upset I know oh I was worried they were going to Raipur or or whatever and next thing I know other. She's just walking down the road so are they like. Oh Ha ha now. You have to walk an extra two. Maybe I mean I don't know is made no sense right right but she didn't answer. She didn't seem traumatized all because when ben picked her up we just she's GonNa yeah she laughing or whatever. Yeah Yeah Okay but Darlene of who have so much to talk about so so we're gonNA talk about V. Scene. But before we get there. Keep in mind when I made these notes. I didn't know about the scene. So Darlene is talking to little Zico and Hugh Monster. I could strangle you and for those of us that know Darlene. We're like no the. She means that she could. She could really do that. And why it comes in wearing a suit and she talks about his hair and she's like let me wash for you and I'm going. That is a super weird scene. So creepy yes so weird and it took an adult. He can wash his own hair. Yes and at this point I also start to wonder what happened to his friendship with Charlotte because they were good friends. That's true and they had 'em good point they haven't seen each other at all this season and they're still around and they're not just just not talking. That's a really good point. I didn't think about that. The kids have such small role this season. I mean I'm okay with it but I feel bad for them as actors. Snot as good well except for except for Charlie Slash Wyatt. Oh Yeah but we're GONNA get there Yeah yeah I I want to just bring up a very brief scene where Charlotte is talking to. Yeah Wendy and this was just great. You have the quote. Yes Charlotte says. It's just so sad. She's got no idea. How fucking scary. Her mom can be talking about Erin and look on his face like putting lipstick on like. Oh Yes yes she's terrible. I can't imagine a woman doing the horrible things that Helen does. Ooh That was. Yeah really good yeah. The writers of this are so good at just putting so much so much feeling and so many words into just a tiny seen. Yes yes so. We go to the courtroom which I guess in that part of the country. It just involves some folding chairs and a couple tables as courtroom scene. And I I have to say that's one thing that's been kind of annoyed me. The season is wendy sudden. Obsession with Zeke. I just I'm not I'm not buying it. I'm just not buying it but there in the courtroom and you know it's a it's a she said she said and then why it walks in and how could she not know that why it wouldn't turn on her or say something and at that point. I believe it or not I said good for Wyatt and Darlene because I thought Wendy pulling that Shit was a total dick move I I'm with you there. You know I mean. I'M REALLY SCARED FOR BABIES. Zeke of course but I you know it's one of those weird things like you can be a psychopath and a good mother at the same time. I think that could be possible by can't speak from experience on that. I don't know you know like I just. I kind of think that as Mardi tells Wendy later she just needs to step away from this situation for now you know. Kinda give give it up. Yeah get Arlene. Have the baby what you know. I mean I hate to be like. Wow whatever happens happens to the baby. That's not what I mean right. You're right the obsession with the baby is just. She's got enough to deal with and I do think she's actually probably being a good mother to the baby. I guess I think she is too. Yeah I think she used to. Yeah she can care of the baby just fine. Yeah because think about it. She took excellent care of Jacob up until the very end but before that and she'll be wasn't rauff she was a doting wife she really was so yes Yeah just don't don't piss off right. So Wendy goes home and they go home. Mardi gets the beast slayer arcade game delivered. Yeah and Wendy's like what which I think is great. Why is that so weird to her that he wants to play a video game? I think it's awesome. Well it's fine but I just feel as it's out of place with everything that's going on in their lives like how now he has time to just play a video game. I mean I don't know I think that obviously well I don't have to say it because we all know that we talked about last time. The meaning of the game putting more quarters in more and more and more to keep the game going till he can get to the end and finally beat the game boy but I love how Charlotte's just casually drinking a glass of wine and I'm thinking I mean really why not not. I mean how old is Charlotte? Now she's got to be eighteen. I think she's sixteen. I feel like yeah because I feel like she was sixteen when this all started well when she was drinking a beer at dinner the other night Marty says. Did I blink and miss five years? So that's why I think she's sixteen. Wow I think they're like sixteen and fourteen or something like that okay. I don't know she looks a lot older. She aged a lot. Yeah yes. She does older yen. Wendy Wendy set up an appointment for I heard. Jim and I wasn't sure who that was at that point. Yeah me neither yes. She wanted to go to Kansas City and I had no idea why and then okay before we get into it. There is one other no. I had okay When Ben Picks Up Ruth and he's like you know I wanNA whereas this guy or we're going to him right now and ruth is like no. You're not you're not gonNA mess with Frank Junior Blah Blah Blah. I'm predicting there's a reason. They showed US Ben. Losing it at the school. I'm predicting Ben is going to unleash on that guy. I think you're right at some point. I think you're right. Which honestly is. Oh let's think about it. Let's think about it. They are going to set. Ben Up how can I? How can I say this Tommy's spilling it to the feds? Tommy needs to go. But Tommy can't but if they kill Tommy that'll piss off the mafia in less it becomes a thing of honor and they're gonNA put Ben to offense Hami. Get rid of him so he doesn't talk to the feds but it doesn't look like it was just murderer. It was that would be a great solution all right something like that. Okay now can we just talk about the get it out of the way so I could go take a shower watch? I'm sick to my stomach. Why Darlene Guy? That's what we're talking about okay. So he he goes in. She gives him a hug and she starts sniffing his hair and against talk me through your feelings. Talk me through what you were feeling so at that point. I'm like okay Darlene. You're creepy Wyatt. Come on the pull away. She's getting creepy but why was like yeah and he starts kissing her and then. I thought any second. Now he's going to be like no no no and then it just kept going. Her her on top of him is like did when they were finishing. Right but my point there is they. Aren't it what it's not like? They were ever Carlin. Anita Right No. She's playing.

"She knows that Mardi sabotage the formation confirmation there and we see Mardi and Wendy which is again another. Ll moment they're arguing about this therapy and it was hysterical. Because somehow they're managing to argue about this without actually saying what's going on the keep calling it a project I'm like. How could they keep these things under wraps in the heat of an argument like that? I thought this scene was hilarious so like it was like a real therapy session and I wrote a quote but now I can't remember who said it. I think it was. Oh it was Mardi saying. I'm asking you for help on a problem that you fucking created and that is true right because she I mean they're they're number one priority and their number. One goal is to launder the money. Everything else is is beside that yet and they and now because of her right because of her and she's basically saying like well. Good luck with that. I don't understand that but what I loved what I love Love Love. Was the therapist thing. Well what would that look like? Mardi and he goes. That would look like death. Jeff and she goes. Well I mean what would what would it really looked like? He goes really death. He goes into her afterwards. Any cyclic. Bribing you to make us happy. Yes that's the best. Oh my God. That whole scene was hilarious. Oh good well. Then we have Dinner again at the birds and Ben is just trying to make small talk to try to fit into the family here and he's starting to suspect something and when he gets a phone call and it's Navarro again. I mean dude. Why does he keep calling her right? I really don't like his fascination I don't like it either and you see Mardi at the dinner table and glancing over at his laptop and he wants to like jump up unless he can't because that would be so obvious Yeah and again kind of Funny Navarro says how well my girlfriend just had a baby and then he says he wants a better life for all of them. I mean how does this guy have? It's very clear he's a man that does what he wants. Yeah Yeah and then he says to her says to Wendy. If you can't get what you want with reason you have to get it with force well before that. She says you've trusted me so far. And he said I don't trust you. I trust my opinion of you. Yeah and then he says if you can't get what you want with reason you have to get it with force and I. I honestly liked the way that Wendy one is. You go in cracks and skulls but I like the way that Wendy took that and then just kind of twisted which will see later in episode right so now we see a dream another dream. It was clear at this point that it was a dream because of the background was sort of you know muted and I was thinking at first it was Mardi Stream. Okay did you know it was Wendy's right away? Yeah I did. I still thought it was. Wendy's yeah and it was the exact you know now that I had that picture of kid in my mind it was the exact same scene when she went to see cade so I thought I knew it was her dream. Oh 'cause she that's right. She gave kate a bag of money to get out of town. That exact x-ray key and I didn't really watch season two so I had forgotten some of this right right so when she gives him the money. Marty says people are all about money right but then he asks her to come with him which obviously didn't do cages took the bag and was happy to leave. But Marty says come with me and she says I can't which was then we cut to her in her sleep. Say can't yes right and what I got out of that dream is I think she wants a way out but she now knows it's too late Interest can't she can't I mean she's into deep with with Navarro right right. Well then. Helen Tells Marty that the client wants the new casino clean. I don't I don't understand what Nabarro thinks is going to happen here. You know breathing down their neck. What what are they supposed to do? Yeah but Helen. She implied that Marty was the one that brought down the feds when he blew up the casino. Show made it sound like the casino was it. I don't know I don't know so I mean either way Helen's not his brand no no not at Wendy's friend either although I think that's getting getting confused so then Wendy's back in the diner the exact same diner right. That was just in her dream. There's probably only one diner in town. But but this the casino where Carlin Anita are. That's a ways away so I don't know but I think she tried to get Karl out of town. She tries to have a heart to heart with Carl. And this scene bothered me for a couple of reasons number one. Her manipulation is so transparent right and glee. I was hoping she would take another approach. Because I don't think Carl would fall for it. No I mean if someone tried to manipulate me that like you said transparently I would. I would just be disgusted. I realized eighty. Don't you remember just said to us what you did to our casino. I'm not listening to anything. You have to say what I was hoping that she would do. Is she would kind of plea to him from a human perspective to say look. I work for some people that don't take no for an answer. This is not me. This is not something that would say like. This is really out of my hands and I'm just trying to tell you that regardless of what you want. We have to make this work somehow. But she didn't take that approach. No not at all not at all she. She questioned his strength and his marriage. She questioned his dignity. She said you know what I see. You don't get that at home. Because he said he wanted dignity you know wanted to be want to have some dignity and she tells him I took back my life and now I answered only one person. May you know and she just comes off as just a bench. I just don't think she would have turned around that fast. But I did like Richie used. Navarro's words yes. Yes she did she. She put them in his lap. Do with what he wanted. Yep and we will we will come back to Carlin Anita because this. I definitely had a beef with this with this episode. Okay so but next week go to. Ruth's trailer park And we see three and ruth talking three dozen have much much of a role here other than just to kind of relay information about Wyatt and she still asking how why it's doing 'cause you know. Ruth is very close to him and Helen shows up. Offers condolences to ruth about her dad and she said. I lost my dad. When I was about your agency goes was he murdered. He murdered and I loved that Ruth is like all right. Are we done with small talk now? We don't enough Chitchat now. Yeah we done enough. Chitchat and Helen comes to complement Ruth. And it's clear that ruth you know. She wants that. She needs that she needs that. That confidence boost and Helen asks her. Could you run the day to day of Missouri Bell if Mardi were away and it was right then I was like? Oh Jeff yet I haven't. I held my breath at that point. I'm like what do you mean if Marty was away? Ya Not cool because she kind of implied that with this new casino he might be needed elsewhere but I was like that is not what she's talking about. Oh Yeah and roofs author that she definitely did she smarts no. I don't think route saw through that. I think she did. Not you know because she went to Mardi and told him right but I think she told him kind of like. Oh here's what she was asking because she said you're GonNa be working on this other project and Marty was like No Yeah I honestly don't think ruth really understood. I think she I think she. Ruth still thinks everybody's all on the same team they just don't communicate. Well okay okay. She doesn't realize yeah so I'm realizing at this point. Wendy needs to be really careful that she doesn't reveal too much about her issues with Marty and her trust issues right. Yeah next. We've got Ben driving a boat with Jona and he's just going crazy. I don't know is like doing donuts in the water and the COP. Stop Him Ben. Blessing. You know. He's like wait boat. Cops that's the thing no idea. He's so cute and Joan is like Uncle Ben. Just let me handle this right and Joan is like. Hey Sheriff it's Joan a bird in the sheriff's like Hey Joanna doing tell your parents I said hi just slowdown. Bye-bye by gets them off super easy and Ben is like wait. What just happened right so Jonas throwing some clout around. Yeah Ben is starting to realize piece by piece very memory there things going on in this yes. There are things happening and the birds have a lot on. So next is the conversation between Ruth and Marty and it's very clear that Marty is picking up what Helen is putting down And again if you re watch that scene. I don't think ruth realized it until she's having this conversation already. I might miss that. I mean I know I know as soon as ruth said that Marty was like okay. I'm dead yes but I didn't okay. So Mardi now knows the stakes are high and his life is at risk. Yeah and this is when I wish he and Wendy could get back on the same page but all right now now. We've got the scene that I wanNA talk about Anita and Carl. Yeah okay. So they're going for a walk and Anita is just badgering the shit out of cloud ragging on him so bad. She's okay. Oh but this is my beef. Because I don't think they've been consistent with her character. Do you feel like you picked up on this. The first time we saw Anita and Carl well the first time I mean I feel like they'd been leading up to that. She was obviously the one in charge all along in my mind. I I don't think so. Because she is the one that originally wanted to sell she was like. That's a good deal and Carl didn't want to. And so they originally said no. They came back with more money. And then they said yes and then the casino boat blew up and then they said no but in this scene she just went all out all out like you're a terrible businessman. You've always been terrible at business. I should've never married you. I should have married your brother. I mean it was like I wish they had built up to the scene a little bit more so that we really felt like Carl had just been beaten down for years and years because they just made her so I feel I feel like they did because you know Carl had that initial conversation with Marty and Carl's just like you know I've learned it's better to just let your desires take a back seat so I felt like from the beginning. It was clear that Kara was beaten down. Yeah but no. There's a difference between a domineering wife which they portrayed her as and a woman that really just beat him down but in the end I guess she got what was coming to her. So do you think so? Clearly it was an accident right right but he watched a roll down and I don't think he went after her. We'll see this was no he. He clearly didn't I mean we saw him actually walk away. I'm sure he probably I don't know I don't know what he would have done yet. But that was kind of where I had a little bit of a beef. It wasn't with Anita's Reactions or her badgering him. It was you know they've been married and working together for years and years and years in for him. Even if you really are pissed off at your spouse and you don't like them very much anymore I don't feel like your reaction to them rolling down a hill and smack in their head in a tree and dying in the water would be to just be like. Oh Damn walkaway. Right exactly so Janelle. The little bit of a problem with that with his act. I feel like there should have been like a moment of panic and then a what do I do? As? Yeah yes. So they're kind of painting him as just a a doofus. Yeah stupid but I don't know whatever I guess. They're probably not really a huge part. I think we're going to see them much more after then. I don't think they're done and I think so. Wendy I think in the next scene calls Marty and let them know that they got the hotel and he's like okay. Does that mean does that mean any? Can I start lottery money? I don't think he says that directly. But he's like okay. He says I mean anything for me to solve anything for me. Yeah no nope just letting you know.

"So this episode starts out ethically with Wendy playing. Fetch with a dog and we hear. Reo speedwagon time for me to fly. I loved it it was so symbolic and it was so much fun but then hold on because as it ope first of all. I had to Google Kevin Cronin before the episode even started. Oh I didn't Google it. I was waiting till the end to see if it became apparent. I did not recognize the name so at the end I was like. Who's Kevin Cronin and my husband New Dude? He's the sewer. So spoiler lead singer for speedway song is time for me to fly and right away. I'm thinking did they always have a dog? Yeah like I did not remember that okay. That's what I said I'm like Oh they must have got a dog. How Fun so fun? Yeah but then it turns dark okay. We see Wendy getting a dead dog out of the back of her car and Guar woke not her car. It wasn't her car okay. I didn't notice that it was a big escalate. Oh okay that was Helen's car okay. Interesting and I was like what the fuck did she do to the dog? Well what does he do? I thought the my I thought there was that this was a flashback. And that somehow she killed cade but then I'm like wait. We saw the scene with Kate and it wasn't her that pulled the trigger so I was confused for a moment. And then of course we realized you know The scene goes on and Marty drives up and it's basically replaying the scene of cades death but with Marty and Wendy Point Blank Shoots Marty obviously a dream. But wow yeah but it wasn't until she shot. Mardi that I was like okay. This is the dream right but listen so dreams are. I'm very good at dream interpretation. It's like my superpower so dreams are typically not about. What's actually happening in your dream. But it's about how you feel in the dream so if you're scared of something in your dream let's say you're scared of a green eyed monster. It's usually not about a green eyed monster. It's about your fear and your fear of something that is represented by that monster so I'm looking at the stream thinking how was she feeling and in the dream she's empowered. She's ruthless. But I have to look at it and say are these her desires or are these her fears. Wow deep yeah I think it's a little bit of both. I think she has the desires to be free time for her to fly time for her to shine but she knows the things that she may have to do right. She might be responsible for Marty's death right right so good all right then. We have our actual open with the symbols. Which will talk about at the end. Wendy and Helen are going to finalize casino deal and Marty's taking care of Reo speedwagon and he says. Oh did you sleep okay? And she's like yeah and he said she yelled out in her dream. I can't So what does that meaning? I can't do this. I can't I can't shoot Marty. I can't kill a dog. I can't wear that fall in. Here's what I thought. When he said that I actually thought he was trying to trick her. Because we didn't hear her say. I can't in the dream at all and I thought he was trying to maybe subconsciously. Plant something in her mind about not being able to do whatever she was about to do. I think she alleged 'cause they show it later right. Yeah yeah in for different. That's what I thought. So we see Wendy and Helen talking about. Where are they are they? Are they in the car in okay? It's there in the car on the way to Big Money again okay. And this conversation had me worried by the way episode to Wendy Wendy and I- Shannon and I'm sorry so we were talking about how you were clearly team. Marty and I was clearly team Wendy and I have to say. My feelings are shifting. Good good I don't think Wendy and I can be friends anymore. So they are talking and they say they're talking about Martin particular and they're saying well. We can't do any of this without him as if he's just a player in this and that language had very concerned. Helen says few people can get my clients attention. The way you have Wendy says should I be worried and Helen says only if you fuck up and I'm like exactly that is the whole you don't just strike up a deal with Navarro and be like. Hey I think we should do this. I want to point out the subtlety that happened just in the beginning of that conversation. Okay so you know. She's asking how how're things with your acts and Helen. Saying how are things with Mardi and Helen says when she started eclipsing her husband professionally lost interest in her sexually and Wendy. While I hardly think I'm eclipsing Marty and you know We need him and Helen. Scoffs you know right. And she's clearly feeding Wendy's ego and that got me thinking about what our listener. Peter said that Helen is using Wendy. And I'm like ooh and he all comes to a head at the end of the episode and I. I think that you said this. Wendy's being naive and she really is because I think that her comments even though she's careful what she says to Helen about her relationship with Marty. Wendy is digging Marty's grave. Yeah and I don't think that I don't think Wendy is the ruthless person that we see in her dreams. I don't know she I know we so she so out there in the next scene even points to that. She's just nasty and arrogant and I feel like she's being more and more relaxed with who she tells about. What the Hell's going on in her life I'm yes yes. So they actually get to the casino. They're still playing hardball. And we find out that they bought the casino but not the hotel from Carlin Anita and basically. They can't have one without the other. They need both and Wendy. Says we are bigger than you and we are meaner and we do not lose and I'm like girl jeans just like Helen. I'm you need to calm down. But it's clear to me that this is a war of the women. I mean it's Wendy and Helen. Against Anita very strong female roles this this season definitely even in the next scene where we see. Yes an interesting choice of pregnant. Fbi agent who walks in with a goldfish right. Right agent. Maya Miller is there settling in with her fishbowl. And telling Marty what's going to happen. They're going to track all the receipts solar income and she said which is interesting if after the FBI leaves. There's a jump in revenue. They're going to start the process all over a grand right so problem for money laundering. By the way I think when when directors make specific choice like this like she's not just an FBI agent. She's a woman and she's pregnant. So why is that and I think I think it's because you've got someone like Trevor Evans or Roy Petty who were like these Really unlikable unrelatable characters and. Then you've got Maya who comes in and I I don't know that the FBI specifically assigned her there for this reason or if this was just a director's choice that let's make her a little softer and a little more approachable. I'm wondering if that choice is because it's to allow. Mardi chew possibly WanNa take advantage of her not not in a sexual way but just thinking that he can maybe get away with more. I I don't know I don't have her turn out. Be Turning out to be just as strong as the other female but Marty even when he's doing dirty deeds is a pretty standup guy. He's not ruthless ever true trevor. Or maybe it's just a fake belly and she's got a giant microphone camera. I just kidding. She says that they'll have forensic accountants. Did you know that was even a thing? No forensic accountants checking the cashbox is every hour on the hour and so he pretty much knows that he's he's screwed cannot do what he was doing to launder the money right. So again the writer so this show are very good at constantly. Increasing the stakes. And it stresses me stressing me out so part of it. I love it Mardi so someone in our facebook group mentioned after they watched Episode three that there were a lot of ll moments. Yes and she was totally right. Because I actually laughed out loud so many times in this episode. So the next one was when Maurice outside talking to ruth and she's like you need to get your house in order and he's like I know I know I shouldn't have done that Blah Blah Blah. And she back at him and he goes. I'm trying to apologize and she just goes. Well just stand at the UP. Waiting waiting he goes. I'm sorry just me. Laugh out loud. And he's like I'm trying to apologize. She's like no. You're going to say it Wale Yup and then the next part of that was justice. Funny because he's telling her that she needs to move money in the new casino and not tell Wendy right so ruth is like all right and she gets her gang together and goes up to the other casino and is locked up. It's closed up. Keiko's could because Wendy shut down the new casino for whatever reason right and she caused Mardi and she's like get your shit together and I'm like okay. Now when now Marty's using Wendy's legit casino for money laundering but I'm Kinda like well fair's fair right. I mean she wasn't truthful with him. So why should he be truthful with her? Is just everybody's digging themselves such truth. So ben comes up while Marty's talking to ruth and this is another one that made me laugh out loud. He comes up he goes. I like this color on you. And she goes gray gray yes she's just like not letting him get away not letting him get away with anything and he said. I think we should hang out and she's like you fucking kidding me. I love her I do. I love her so much. And I can't tell in these scenes in this episode weather. She just isn't understanding his advantage. His advances it. Oh she she just seems to be. Like what the fuck are you doing? She understands she trust no one. Yeah I mean for life crusts nobody. Yeah like what's your deal like. Somebody's always got something angle right. Yes yes so that we have What is the next scene where frank comes to see Wendy right? Yes so Wendy Charlotte or having a conversation in Charlotte is reminding her mother of her therapy appointments of Charlotte still entertaining. That idea and frank stops by and that was definitely an. Oh Shit moment. Yeah he tells her that he needs the casino open and he didn't do what he did as a favor. And Wendy's like She knows that Mardi sabotage the formation confirmation there and we see Mardi and Wendy which is again another. Ll moment they're arguing.

So spoiler lead singer for our speedway song is time for me to fly and right away. I'm thinking did they always have a dog like I did not remember that okay? That's what I said I'm like Oh they must have got a dog. How Fun so fun? Yeah but then it turns dark okay. We see Wendy getting a dead dog out of the back of her car and Guar. Whoa WHOA not her car. It's about your fear and your fear of something that is represented by that monster so I'm looking at the Stream Thinking. How was she feeling? And in the dream she's empowered She's ruthless. Yeah yeah in for different so we see Wendy and Helen talking about. Against Anita very strong female roles this this season definitely even in the next scene where we see yes an interesting choice a pregnant FBI agent. Who Walks in with a goldfish? Right right agent. "That doesn't feel right. I agree. I don't trust her. She does have a heart to heart with Charlotte a little later on in the episode. But in this scene. There's just something about the way she's talking to her mother like she. I think she said something like I think. I'm actually coming around to this place already and I'm like that doesn't sound like a teenage girl to me. Yeah I agree. It was a little weird. Yep Yep then we go to our favorite crazy yes back to a brief scene with Darlene. She's kind of bonding with Wyatt. She's actually talking to Jacob the deceased Jacob and why it comes in from working out in the farm and he's like wait what because he thought it didn't know who she was talking to and he's like she explained she was talking to her dead husband. And darlene. Says who do you talk to? And why it's Kinda thrown a little bit. And He's like well my dad. And you know they have this bonding moment. And darlene offers ashes cabin for Wyatt to live in. Because he'd been just sleeping in his car so she is so up to something with him. I think this was a really important scene though because we predicted in the last episode that they would be bonding this season and we predicted that he would definitely become the new ash. But I think the most important part of this scene was Darlene. Giving a pep talk about the langmore say about their history in that area and how you know the Langmore is were somebody like they clearly. Weren't you know judges and lawyers? But they laggers sh- bootleggers. Yes and they ran profitable operations and you can tell the that Darlene family knows the langmore like they go way back there locals. They've been there for a long time. And you can just see why it for the first time in a long time kind of feeling a little bit of pride in who he is. Yeah yeah that was great. I hope she doesn't completely mess. Oh sled really like Wyatt. I think why it will do some stupid stuff. And then I think he will come back around I think he will do some Darlene bidding before he realizes that's not who he wants to be I think that's a good bet. Prediction dinner at the birds. Next up so champagne which is wait. Champagne is a symbol in this episode. To celebrate the New Casino Right. And then we see Frank Junior and one of his friends slinging around on the arrival riverboat and we ultimately find out. They planted some kind of explosives and the big on. Okay yeah all right well. The Big Fireworks Display that the casino had going on at night caused an explosion and like the whole top of the boat just blew up right so so moving moving onto the the barbecue at the birds house eating. It looks like hotdogs. I guess they eat regular food like the rest of us. I guess so I guess so. Pretty Normal Yeah they're they're just a chatting it up I think Ben was talking about Wendy's past and her accent and you know kind of a normal ish gathering and then Charlotte dare and pair off too and she starts asking about. Party cove right and I was like Okay Charlotte two point. Oh right inch. And I'm like what's her deal. She wants to lose her virginity. But I don't know something just feels like. I feel like she's manipulating Charlotte. Somehow well also I. This is exactly what Charlotte did in season. One like she went to party cove and she just like wanting to have SEX WITH ANY RANDOM GUY. Just for the heck of it to get it over with and that's what this girl. That's what Aaron actually says. I JUST WANNA get it over with because I can't go back to my friends in Chicago Virgin Right Mike. Okay Yeah I really. I definitely do get a really weird feeling from errands. I don't know what's up with thirty. Th they're going to be fast friends or something strange is going to go down a mark by words. There's more to this more to this. Meanwhile we've got Jona he's Kinda given error in the eye and like creeper spying on her with his drone and all and then we've got the phone call comes okay because the mob has blown up the rival riverboat during their firework display and Anita Calls Wendy and says well basically the deal is off and Wendy getting really I mean she was like really freaking out over a threatening or a Blah Blah Blah and Anita was just like Sorry bye-bye right. Yeah and I'm just going like doesn't Martineau the wheels in motion that he's now pissing off Navarro. Well I don't know I I really don't thinks and at that point Wendy knows that Marty. She's like what did you. What did you say or whatever like Oh no? That was no this was after that. Say Anything it was really actually funny because Marty was like Helen. And Wendy are freaking out and Martin. Was anybody hurt in the fire and Helen goes who knows and who cares right and I just love how the show it. It's exactly my kind of dry dry humor like it makes me laugh in the most serious points. I love it so we didn't mention that Ruth was invited to this dinner as well and comes in. I'm like what the Hell is she wearing of? She was not the most elegantly dressed. And right away you know I get the the ruth and Ben Vibes but Helen and ruth were like. Oh hello now I was trying to remember what Helen involved in the waterboarding with Ruth. I was trying to remember that too and I don't know I think she was. I like sharing. Must've been I feel like she must have been. Yeah because that was a very tense. Hello yes the two of us so I feel like she was probably there. Oh wait no I just. It just came to me. She definitely was because remember. She walks out of the trailer after and she goes girls tough. Or whatever like that to to Kate Mardi so she definitely was that was season two then again right because Helen didn't come until season two right. Yeah Marty's trying to convince convinced Ben to leave and he's basically thanks so you want me to leave yet that'd be great. Thanks bye. And Ben's like I don't think I'M GONNA leave. Yes so I. I think Ben's definitely going to be around all season. I don't know what purpose he's going to serve but he's definitely going to shake things up and I think he could end up being Wendy's heavy well needs one. It's interesting because he made the comment. This is the first time I've recognized my sister in years. Yes so that goes back to what we were saying about how you know. I think Wendy has really put off a certain part of herself for a long time right. Yep Right yes so now. Now we see. We're coming back to ruth at the beginning of the episode kind of researching the the algorithms and Shit and we see that she's trying out these mechanisms for how to I don't know how it works but making predictions on when to actually hit the slot machine so that it hits the Jackpot it's a it's a slot scam and I think that the machine Somehow can tell when certain when to hit the button so that you know a jackpot will come up it like lights up green. That's what they showed. That was Kinda cool if that exists. That's super cool. I'm sure it does exist but I'm sure you could only pull it off in a in a Missouri River Boat. I don't think you could do that in Vegas. I think they've figured that out but Yeah 'cause you did. They very stealthily had those strippers with their phones and their bras. I mean sneaky right right. I know I know talking to Helen about them. Being on the same page and my notes I have a quote. Just be thankful that she and Ruth have got us back on track. Yeah and Mardi covers that pretty well and muck Marty's like a and he doesn't realize what's going on it's clear he did not know what was going on and he and so we see ruth and Wendy and Wendy. Wendy plays a total bitch in this scene and she goes to the Casino and they clearly have a bunch of people there to scam the the casino scam the slot. Machines receive ruth outside and a van. A guy going so this is legal. Well that's the guy that's the okay. He forgot his name but he was the realtor that ended up. Oh Marina Oh yes lickety-split so it was him and his girlfriend was in there all the one that's his mother got hit by a truck. Yes yes okay recognized. But now that was him. Yeah okay definitely yes. Oh that was funny though. He's like this is legal right now. I don't think so. So MARDI CALLS UP. Ruth find out what's going on in. Ruth expects to be praised because she's helping and I wrote my ruth quote of the day down. Can I give you my ruth performance? Go for it okay. Best quota the episode. How `Bout instead of shitting me you get your own house in order and until you do has `bout you fuck off. All righty best. Yes alrighty I wanNA say is awesome anytime I say something. Really Awful to somebody. I'M GONNA just end it with an all. Righty all righty. How about you fuck up already? God Ruth we love you. Yes we love you but I could not believe how bold Wendy was there. I mean I. I'm like Wendy. Get Out of the Casino. They are going to see you. I don't think that obvious. Yeah in and she's just sitting there at the bar like. Hey look what I did and if you don't like it I'll bring more people in and do it again. She's taking cues from Helen. More and more every day I was okay but not. Let's let's step back for a minute. Okay yes was that an evil bitch move totally but you have to step back and look at to make really good TV. Really good drama. The stakes have to be high. And I think when you have made a deal with one of the most powerful drug lords in Mexico you you're not really in a position say well. Carlin Anita change their minds. You know what I mean. They make it work. The stakes are so high so she had to make it work and I wrote. Oh Wendy I admire you more every day but then we switched to Helen and I went. Oh my God. Helen is evil. Yeah that surprised me and it took me a few minutes to even realize what was happening. Jeans she's on the phone with her acts. He's coming out of work and he says you know I'm just getting out of work so she clearly knew exactly where he'd be time he'd be there. Yeah and you know. Sky Comes up and just beat the crap out of him and she's just pretending that she still so she's listening to him. Get the beginning get beat and pretending to Wendy that she's just talking on the phone to Harare. Oh it's lovely here yes. Yes and that's the world that she's been living in for a long time. I guess so and yeah and I'm just wondering to what does she just you know. Supposedly he knows nothing about what she does. So what I WanNa know what purpose that served as she gonNa tell him that she had someone beat him up and he'd better not fuck with her. Or what no she? She even made a comment when she was in with Wendy looking at the Lake House and she said you know not that I not that I wish him dead. My children deserve to have a father but I wouldn't mind him. You know basically getting the shit kicked out of him like she even said that. Yeah you're right. Okay at input so it was really just satisfaction right. It was really like Your J. O. And Yeah I'M GONNA make you pay for being a Dick. So now we know who we're dealing with their. Wow okay okay. All right now. The last scene was the most confusing scene of the episode. I think because we see Trevor Evans was that his name the FBI agent that Comes in and he says that the FBI is now going to be there monitoring every single thing. They do which was triggered by the sale of an additional casino. Right and my question is why I don't understand and I hate now that Marty has leverage because now Mardi feels like he was right. That Wendy's shouldn't have done this but Wendy. Mardi could not have known that this would happen. Well no he didn't know that it was happening. It's so funny are different. Takes on it because confused me at all. I mean maybe there's something in the law that says when you purchase a second casino your first business is has to go through a period of surveillance on audio content auditing by the FBI that Trevor. We all know. Trevor has been waiting. He's he's sitting in the wings waiting for a reason he you know he he's part of the FBI..

"Yes I wrote down the line. Good the only way to marriage last is through mutually assured destruction. Hold on. I wrote down the exact. Okay Go. Maybe that's the only way to truly make a marriage last. Make it impossible to blow up. Without the shockwaves swallowing. Everyone mutually assured destruction and they really focus on. Wendy's face in that scene and I'm like okay. Wendy's wheels turning what she what I took from. That is Wendy. Has To figure out a way that it's not entrapment. But she has to make sure that she can keep Mardian line. Yeah she has to have a way to do that. Yeah And right before the scene you you failed to mention that. Wendy's offer gets declined from Carlin Anita and she knows Marty had a hand in it. Okay at another happened before this happened before this. Yes questioned Mardian. He was like. Oh No you know who knows right. What happened but she knows she she knew. And then we see this scene about mutually assured destruction and that's how you know. Wendy's wheels are turning and then we see. Oh you know just a few headless bodies being groomed in front of. I'm assuming that was Navarro's compound there right right. That's what I'm I was getting. Yeah three bodies in kind us some money stuffed in the cutoff necks and the cabinet as you. Do you do all right then then? We go back to the substitute teacher. And I'm like okay. Who is this guy heading to the casino? I see ruth looking at him and right away just first instinct. Ruth's love interest. Wow you got that fast. That's what me like a little bit more into the episode to get there no immediate. It's just I don't know why but I could just tell it was love interest. Then she comes downstairs. What he's sitting there doing nothing. He's just sitting at a slot machine not playing not making a bad just drinking copies. So she's like what the fuck are you doing right? You need to get the fuck Outta here. I'm like Oh okay all right. But here's what we know about him. He's a hot head renegade with a moral conscience. Ooh good one I mean. That's that's what that whole opening scene was about was to show that he has a violent streak in him but that he has a moral compass. And I think that's GonNa come into play. Sounds like a good match for Ruth. Right she's Kinda similar. Maybe so I was trying to remember at this point. I paused and I'm like what are we remember about him from season one which they do reference later on the episode but I was trying to think. I thought that they had mentioned that. He had mental problems and he has an accent and do remember where where Wendy's from originally and they later in the episode reveal. She grew up in North Carolina. They made a big thing about that. And I don't think they ever said what was really wrong with him. No I don't remember either. I don't even in this episode but I know that they referred to the fact that they were worried that Jona was turning out like her brother Yes when he was killing animals and they kind of thought that maybe Jones had some mental issues. They did yeah they reference that and that's that's one I think it was. Yeah and John. Actually asks her that later. But that's a that's another. That's another story. So right I liked. How when Blanked on his name. Ben Ben Ben finally gets to the Birds House he says to Marty that little blonde Nazi at the casinos tough. It's Kinda cute though. Oh Yeah Yeah Yeah. That's where I was like. Oh Okay Okay and also because I follow Julia Garner. She's the actress that plays Ruth on Instagram. She posted a Lotta pictures of the two of them. So I think they're in a lot of scenes together and yeah something's going to happen. God God so we find out that Marty is monitoring Wendy's calls. Yeah that's not going to help anybody is it? I don't know it's not. It's going to give him so much more stress and when she finds out right right so and I believe in this scene the call. He's listening to her talking to Helen. The saying why don't you go with me? I'll go back there. Because she's been authorized to increase the offer and so they're going to go back to the big muddy casino and try again okay but this. This transition was like brilliant editing because Marty goes fuck buck fuck and then they switch to bend waking up in the morning going Shit Fuck Fuck Shit. It was hilarious. Hilarious that okay. So he wakes up and Jonas coming downstairs and basically like. Don't mess with buddy stuff. And he was my best friend and so on. Yeah I think Ben's GonNa be Jonuz new best friend. I think they're going to be may be good for each other. I don't know yet. I think Ben's trying to be the new buddy and I know that he will be. I don't know the Jones. Yeah things are never that simple anos are so. There's probably going to be something bad. That goes down raiders. Yeah well Mardi goes to cosgrove again. Guess goes back to frank the mob boss and he asks him. Can you just do something to get rid of the business at that rival casino? Because what he's working at here is he wants the big muddies rival casino to go down for a while. Just loose just something. So that big muddy can Get alone and re renovate and get back on their feet then thus they will ignore Wendy in Helens. I'll let me ask you this In this scene. Did you understand what he was trying to do? I did I did understand it. I because I wasn't clear I'm like wait. He wants to sabotage the new casino. Not The old casino. I mean by the end of the episode. It was exactly what you said it was. They're gonNA make the other won't go down so th th this older casino now has all the business and an influx of cash get. I'd I did understand what he was saying but I actually paused it and I said to my husband. I'm like hold on and I kinda talked through it. I'm like is that what he's saying because the thing that didn't ring true to me is like. Helen and Wendy are on their way to talk to them. Like it seemed in the episode that this was happening concurrently and I'm like how are they going to make something happen fast enough right like I just didn't buy that would happen but I think it actually what they did turned out very realistically. I think well and I just can't like I understand. Why Mardi doesn't see that. He's not only starting a war with Wendy which he probably already considered himself to be at war with her but also Navarro like dude. Why why are you screwing this? I mean I get it. But I'm just saying so Wendy and Helen pay visit Carlin Anita again and they really play this good cop bad cop routine yes which I love and they totally get the owners on board and later that night Wendy's home. She's happy with the deal. Did I skip anything yet? Are we good no? That's that's okay. So she's home middle of the night her phone rings and it's Navaro how what the fuck. Okay he's clearly scared and he said his made fell. Her front teeth fell out. And he's talking about the white teeth and the red blood in his hand and does he think that's an omen and I was like What do you say to that? I'd be like I don't know so? She says anything can be an omen. If you're looking for it and she talks to him about how he could go back through his whole day and find things that were positive signs but the big part of this conversation is she asks. We'll she doing and he goes. Who and she says the made and he goes. She's no longer with us and the I don't I don't know she's no longer with no longer with us and the implementation to me. Was You make a mistake? You fall down on the job. That's the end of you. Okay okay interesting. I was not sure what to make of that. I was very confused. That was probably the one point in this episode where I did not know what was happening. First of all why the Hell Would Navarro Navarro? Why would he call Wendy of all people? That just seemed really ridiculous to me a year and he said I don't know the maids like if he said she died or whatever I would have been like oh snappy kilter but the way he said it oh she's no longer with us it was like. I wasn't really sure that she did. But I think for someone like Navarro he probably would say get her out of here or take care of her or whatever and if she's been working at his home do you really think she could have a life outside of their like. What can you just walk away from a drug cartels come true exactly? Yeah so I mean. I think it was meant to kind of make Wendy see that. Everyone's expendable don't screw up so maybe he was just telling her this story to kind of yeah drive home like you know. I don't think that's why he was telling her the story. But I think that's what we as a viewer can take away from story. Okay all right yeah. That was that was confusing to me. So the next team was great. Okay we have darlene coming out of the grocery store. Well before that I have to say Wendy and Jona were shopping at the store. And I don't know right before. Darlene walks over. Wendy's loading the groceries in the back of her car and for what to me? It was a noticeably long period of time. She's holding a twelve pack of Miller lite of like. Could you make your product placement anymore? Okay all right and then I said Oh hello crazy it's Darlene. Yes she comes. Over with with Zeke in the stroller and she says to Jona your hair's culminating Nice God. I laughed so hard she and she was the one she and Jacob were responsible for that right yes well. I don't know if it was Jacob but it was definitely Darlene. I think she might have acted alone at that point but she wanted that baby and she kidnapped Jona in season two and Kinda shaved half his head just to scare everybody. Okay you know. Yeah okay. Give me the baby and I'll give you kid back okay. I didn't remember exactly what went on there but okay. So that's why Jonas like get this crazy nut head away from me and I guess the kids didn't realize what had actually happened to me. Yeah and now he does. Yep and that's another lie you know that's another Hash Mark in the column family there but just a super quick scene next. We're Helen buys replacement. Doc Martens for her daughter Erin and something you tell me how you feel. They're sending about Aaron..
