"Carl Weathers When I think of friends and extended family members who have gone to prison, I think about the unrealized potential, which is lost forever. In many instances when people go to prison, because oftentimes they're not going to be rehabilitated. They're going to be someone else altogether, and sometimes that's justified given what might have precipitated Them going in prison. I ask that because did this particular project or these letters change you in any way in how you perceived the whole prison process in America? Well, that's that he got. You got a lot wrapped up into that, Uh, first of all, MO. What's interesting to me is as Paul and I have talked to different people about this book and about these letters and about t O. It's really fascinating to me of how many black folks Speak to this in a very personal way. Yes, And you just said it. You said family members and friends. So that says something right there about the numbers of people of color who seemed to be incarcerated that could be interpreted in a lot of ways. You can interpret that, depending on your point of view as well. They're criminals. They meaning people of color. Or if you were another kind of bent on looking at that, as I am, you can also say, Isn't it interesting that so many people of color are the ones who are locked up? And so not only did reading tea toast letters give me extra have amplified in a way what I already thought and felt about you know what's been called the prison industrial complex. The idea that there are so many for profit. Prisons out there suggest that there is a business in all of this, And if there is a business in all of this, nobody wants to lose their investment. What they want to do is gain on their investment. They want more revenue coming in and so from teals letters, his sense of humor, but also he's such a good storyteller. His visuals in his letters are so dynamic that I look at it and Wasn't changed as much as I think I was probably drawn a clearer picture of what incarcerated men and women are going through and how the system itself. That's not hope, necessarily with correcting or necessarily with, uh, rehabilitating, but it seems to be more about a punitive approach to people who are in there because they're accused of a crime that this thing is a lot deeper than just the letters and reading. Carl, Let me play the other side of that argument. I'm quite sure someone is listening and they hear your voice. They hear your words and they know who you are in a sense of OK, this is a very successful African American man who's actor from Rocky to Chicago. Justice. Two men DeLorean, You have managed to not fall prey to this prison industrial complex. What about these other black and brown men? You say communities of color? Are they not responsible for their individual decisions, including Tia, which led to the circumstances of being incarcerated. What about the idea of personal responsibility versus the profitability of these private prisons? Well, I think personal responsibility does exist and needs to exist for every human being. That does not mitigate the fact that if you were to educate a lot of these people properly when they were young people, if you were to have social programs dare I say that gave them other outlets. If you were to alter the system in a way that so many people wouldn't find their way into crime or be in situations where they are then labeled this criminals. You might be able to turn this whole thing around. It seems to me that the United States as far as I know, has one of the largest incarcerated populations and there are many. Well, I shouldn't say many. There are the countries which have as many Citizens in number as the U. S. And maybe you could take a number of group of countries and add them together and come up with the same number. But you don't seem to find that there are as many incarcerated so there seems to me to be sometimes a little askew there. We've got to take another break, gentlemen, and if you're just tuning in, that's the voice of actor Carl Weathers, who has narrated the audiobook pen pal Prison letters from a free spirit on slow Death Row, which was compiled and edited by Paul Allen Smith. "This is from from yesterday. So well, we'll tweet. It's gotta be like four or five days. I know. Yeah, go so I know it's not even a story. It's just stupid. But I just wondered if I should have known who that was actually felt stupid. Somebody somebody so wear real Jenna and I said, I don't know who that is, But But I want to ask her why she's trending. It must be somebody in there. And if you are going to watch the man DeLorean I mean I got Carl Weathers in it, too. So Carl Weathers is cool. Is he still in shape like Apollo Creed? Ah, I mean, you can't really tell, But I mean He looks older than 75. Yeah, He looks older, but I mean, it's him. You know what I mean? And it's just stomach. It's a great show. A great Siri's in Syria and season two is going to come out and think in October, so I mean well in the rocky movies. I do believe he killed Ah, associate producer with his abs. That's how that's how ripped he was back in the day. What are you making a face that I have never heard that story? So I mean, that would explain covered up that explained, you know that little cut off shirt that he wore in Rocky? What's funny is that never became a trend. Thank God Can you imagine men would've started walking around with the cut off shirts Now some men did was going to say is like something that may then they turned, and then they changed her name to Caitlin. Because Bruce Jenner definitely walked around in a cutoff shirt all the time with his short shorts, So no, lift her back in those days. You never wore one of those days and those Rocky came out. 1976 carrier was 10. I was a big lifter. Likely 80 83 or something, wasn't it? I had more guts than muscles in 1983. So no, I did not start lifting until the late 19 nineties. I think you were trying to age me carry like I was lifting body building in 1970. Before I met like the early eighties. Okay, stop. 88941. You just see the post that I made today on that. No, I did not. As we talked about it yesterday. I truly I want people to go and check out this post because the words who is in his campaign That decided this would make sense the words literally, as you said yesterday. And Esposito where he walks out with three people. There. They clap. Oh, by the way, Facebook got rid of the restriction. I guess they finally clicked on my video. And so it was. There you go. Okay? Not, you know, putting in some fake song. But the songs when you translate them from Spanish to English and Esposito, are I want to breathe in your next slowly Let me murmur things in your ear so that you'll remember if you're not with me slowly. I want to undress you in kisses slowly. This is exactly this could be the narration on any video of him with a little girl at the White House when somebody's being inaugurated or whatever, what's what he's being, You know, I'm sworn into their new job. Terry, they're trying. Do you think Um, is that came in in your news opinion? You see, the news comes in every day. There was a video today where couple Harris was talking about how you know those of us who have kids. They want to send our kids back Asian and have any kids. Then she starts cackling like a chicken again. We want to send them back, Don't we? Gotta send the kids back knowing what are you doing? Who is running carrier? They trying. I think they are trying. They think they're trying Um Yeah. You actually think they're trying I got to stay out of this. No, This is good news question. Um I think maybe some of the campaign are trying harder than others. I don't understand. And you too, is not showing the video anywhere. I'm looking forward is just not anywhere. It's like from today I've got to go find it on Twitter again because it's Ridic. She's wearing a mask with nobody anywhere near her. She's talking to somebody behind her or something. And those that we want to send our kids back to school in and then just this horrible cackle of 11. Is she kidding? Don't think so. It's like they're trying to lose. "And also if you were to make a Mount Rushmore Of people holding giant guns and how good they look doing it would Vasquez beyond there, So first of all, she's got that woman warrior look to her, whose something like out of the Warriors, which I just mentioned above the bandanna. And that's a fact that find on copying a vest mounted gun. That Gap Ling Gun machine gun, which is so cool, She looks great. So it's unbelievable. Yes. Looks unreal in this movie. If you were to make the Mount Rushmore it be Arnie. Hobley Sly Stallone. Sure, Carl Weathers and Lady back as Janet Goldstein Goldstein fits in perfectly so good. This movie did win two Oscars for best sound effects in best visual effects, and then I get that They don't hold up that great, but this was 1986 so you can't really hold it again. I think visual effects. Why is the only thing that does not hold up? Great is the weird electricity that's inside the ship. And then also the same thing that back to the future had is any time that they tried to have a spaceship go by. Doesn't look great, but special effects not the best, but the special effects in the visuals inside the ship's look amazingly cool, Billy really, really so good More of the practical stuff like the holes in the floors. Yes, the digital stuff to stop quite there, but again. Who are you to say in 19? 86? Apparently they were the best so good. I really felt like maybe 23 months ago. This was one of the greatest movies of all time. Not as good as a family and I've always liked alien. More. So you have parents. I'm facing alien. You have a ling at 40 hot dogs. You think I think I would give alien 40 hot dogs? I think I would have it a 40 right around there a couple things I don't like in there, but it's unbelievable. Absolutely. This the second half the last hour and 15. Sort of what you're alluding to phenomenal, unbelievable stuff, much like last week where back to the future might have the best fun factor of all time. Aliens might have one of the highest satisfactory of all times. By the end of the movie, you kind of forget the stuff that you didn't love in the first half, and you're like, Wow. That was satisfying that Waas so sad feel like Because again it is the direct sequel to Alien..

"Was I forget his name. I'm the worst with names. Bad back in the Big Bang theory as geologist. That's right yeah and I mean the guy's been a character actor and a million things you know but you recognize them as soon as he opens his mouth. You know what you want to be a character actor in. I mean in one of these episodes if just get one little word would be the most amazing thing it would. It would absolutely never think as well. Jason when when the Mandate Laurean funny was Many mets would call weather's others and when he's he's Moaner they played incur amaury current set the low yup and you actually could hear them like like blink. Yeah there's not I mean yeah I met Carl weathers in June. He was at a comic con that I had had a a booth called summer con in Washington and he was one of the stars there. And I am immediately. Took my star Wars Autograph Autograph Book that I get any star wars related people to sign and had him sign the same page as Jeremy Bullock with the has is my print on it of Cargo hold I thought it was about it was a fitting page. Can I didn't know what role he was going to play. But I knew I had to do with the man delorean so so I picked the page out of my book that was related to you. Know that's fat worked out. Yeah did he say anything about said the series was. He didn't say a word about it. Yeah Yeah here's what I'm confused with When you brought up Carl weathers reminded me of the they get a bounty puck right when they and they have a bounded go after but then they get these tracker devices those work at no error? The people aren't wouldn't that make Washington super easy. That would seems like it would be a little bit easy. Yeah Yeah like yeah. I want that job. I can do that. The river there. He just woke up beeping. He just which direction should I got. I mean really come on. I don't understand that. How does that work? I mean how did it. No were you know baby iota is.

"It's nerd on five five dollars fifteen dollars or more so check us out. You can decorate some star wars comics that way. Yeah there are some cool star wars comics canon to the Landau. One's really good that it's yeah but never hears about the marquee topic in yes chapters one and two last week. Check that out. If you haven't or you went over a lot of great Lore Tom we we. We talked about production and we speculate on how this might like. You know kind of fold into the Ola skywalker saga we got going on. So so this week ready but today we're going to stick to chapter three so let's get into the dirty nitty gritty. What do you guys think? What'd you guys? Think of the episode. This is the best one so so far the gates so many like suspenseful moments like incredible action pieces for an episode that shorter than the pilot. Ella it definitely felt more full. Yes than the pilot was and that will also in court on the way here. It was like yeah but the thing is it pays awful lot of the slow burn of the first and second episode right without the first episode setting up. What the best car? Metals were or without the second episode setting up like the viral kills roles and dishonorable kills and what that means mandatory and culture. None of that would have been half as cool is it. Wasn't this episode so I get it. It's groundwork you did it. It's done but I'm gathering the meat of it now right very exciting. We're seeing a lot of cool like we're learning more about their culture. We're learning more about like how how I don't know to me. I think we're actually getting a little bit more of the personality. The I sorely missed a needed from the pilot and the second episode From Mando. I'm GonNa comment because every causing me his name so far And I think what it did was like you know to Corey. Point of like the slogan of the first two episodes. It's not it's also like they gave him a chance to kind of explain a little bit and through a little. Bit of flashback. You've got changing through changing of meaning through montage MHM. The baby is different because of a montage beforehand The schedule means something to him. Because of the explanation of why doesn't want a central given to him right so like there are things things like star wars fanatics and fans hardcore fans much more loyal than I would would understand right for someone that hasn't washed it before like me who is privy to like story building. William like this doesn't mean anything to me yet right so like everyone's getting their joys off for me I'm kind of like you're lacking in story So it's it's that out of world world building out of frame world building. Now it's the in frame right there. Yeah right I I liked seeing them kind of develop like set up like consequences and kind of what that means for the bounty hunter to go against the guild and we see see what happens Falko John Wick three stuff going on. Yeah you know I know I fucked the code because the man has got your back well the only truly matters I whose name was which is. I think it's just the way because if you think about it away like and that's why I liked this episode because it talked a little bit about social systems and yeah ads. We're like the guild code is only as strong as the time it is and the Mandala raincoat transcends time right and so there is you know he walks a fine line between like if you work with the the bounty hunter code a you also in bed with the imperialist or the rebels depending on whoever pays more Mana Code is one true. Be All right Mike. Help your fellow. It doesn't matter what the fuck he did. We're helping him because he's made delorean. That's this is the way I loved that I loved that phrasing way before we get into Suey a little bit of production on it. We're not doing any briefs we'll do a little bit a little lower yeah Specifically just because chapter three. It's a new director Deborah Chow. Who did American guy? Better Call Saul and OBI WAN TV show. This is why I'm excited. He's yeah she's she's leading up so okay so she's an only one episode per though shows shows. I want to say something about Deborah Choke. She killed it first of all hands down. This was a beautiful episode. Yeah but something. If you've ever talked to me about Obi Wan and what I wanted from not only a movie. TV show as well whichever one whichever medium going for. I'm glad it's happening. Because it's one of my all star wars. I've always wanted to be an espionage type of story because what is really good at espionage sneaking around ships listening eavesdropping some J. Training jet either. And what did we get an entire segment of in this episode. Shot beautifully and done really well espionage recon so it was the fact that she's Helming the ob one series during an episode. Not Show running it. No it says all six episodes when I looked it up. She's directing all six episodes of the director on. I'm DB but that's all it so for me. Please send a correct me if I'm wrong there either way episodes and that means there's more than just like doing one episode. She's definitely she slaughtered to slay two episodes for Mandala Laurean. She's only typically historically known to do one show. I'll look it up in a in a little bit where I found that but I'm excited for it and congrats. She is the first first female director. Anything Star Wars and finally twitter. It only took US forty years. Sixty five billion dollars so recurring cast Pedro Pascal. Carl Weathers Werner Herzog But I wanted US special. Shout out to The armourer played by emily swallow. Who is in castle? Vania as well supernatural supernatural individualist and This episode specific was thirty six minutes. Thirty seconds And then the audience score fronts. Minnows went up by one on percents To a ninety five from ninety four last week and that definitely deserved it. Yeah that's all that production he stuff but a brief synopsis of the episode We we see mandatory hero came back to our original location to send the asset the baby iota that the Internet Act. WBZ client the client's play by Werner Herzog and they quick fast in a hurry actor. pershing take the baby away and give the mandatory Rian his best Garner a ton of our apparently a lot of esker enough to make a full body series which she ends up with some leftover for the founder Yes this is the way this the and Going back to his men delorean underground cave He meets up with the armor who finds all the best armor And they decide to make a full suit. He rejects making a single out of the mud horn because he said it was a dishonorable. My enemy helped me because the baby. Oh to help them. I love that line to he. Didn't I know he was my enemy at the towns and the he get stopped by a Felon Lawrence. You are looking at the best garner because it's a it's it's an exotic item. Yeah it's an exotic every month because it is a historically relevant item Dorian for those gamers out there and he almost gets. It's no fight almost kills Jon Favreau And he jumped out. Replace the heavy gunner. Heavy Infantry Guy with doping armor and armor is built but during during this armored building. Montage we get flashback of his childhood seeing a when the Imperial Army the purge him. It was the clone wars. Yeah Oh the clone wars. It's during the clone wars healed. All of the man does family and left him into a bunker. And that's the last we see of the flashback It goes back to seeing mandolin kind of meditate on what he should do next. Because he's we're seeing he's asking questions that are unlike any other bounty hunter wondering what the whereabouts of the baby he goes back to. Carl weathers his handler handler for the guild And Carl weathers nothing but elated to see that I favored client or whatever the man Mandola Rain has a vested all the other bounds in the bar. And he's wearing that fucking armor like Gos- What men really WANNA wear And they all well Hayden getting the next mission which is far away quote good and overridden with guilt. Yeah and he also so ask Carl weathers the where they can do with the baby and says you know it's not my place to ask You know your place task either. It's against the code desk and He goes on his ship. And he's about to leave and then decides an Eleventh-hour power decision to go save. The baby sees the knob on if not a toy and goes in and whips. Lada asked John Wick Style Ghost recon con style and killed a bunch of stormtroopers. Really Savvy. Didn't they they shot like once or twice did they. Okay 'cause it was like a couple of GonNa Miss. They have to miss. Yeah yeah because because like that's kind of like good plot And he Moore gives mercy to Dr pershing and then takes the baby auto way but before he gets to a ship you stop by all all the bounty hunters because his media they turned the empire turned the food back on the fives. The fobs back on. So it's just like excommunicate wick style alcon with three and an escape to try to Find his way out of these bounty hunters he's a you know. Backed up against a corner and Lo and behold all of the mandolins That were very aggressive in the beginning. Come to save the day in their Jeff. Pack tax needed And in a blazing glory Allow Iran three and they compare it to. They may go away baby. Maybe this Christmas I'll find out Yeah we have the all time and then He gets into a ship and flies away while he's flying away The heavy gunner is flying jetpack that he is confronted once again by car. Weather's Carl shoots him and then he got so that they might come shadowed in early in the episode which was chest and FIS away and then gives the little ball thingy to butte again and we end and the galaxy is our oyster waster. Where's the call Amari? We don't know where he's going. He might not be doing that anymore now. He's got a somebody's got to go somewhere. That was just a that was like self-medication like I just need some forget man bounty Yeah this was a great episode moved really well I thought I thought Deborah did a really good job of showing how the mandatory and felt even though we'd never see his face framing was really well. Well done her her the way. At least she allowed montage to work in a way. Where like the scene? You know using Standard Kulikov affect like to Sh- to frames the first one gives better into the first to the second. Well not even the montage. But I'm just saying like within his own actions sitting in the ship alone and that kind of stuff consider up and him what he's doing. Yeah the the close up reaching for for the KNOB and stuff like that. I just thought she did a really really good job of of show. Don't tell which is hard to do when you can't see the actress is or face word. The has different meaning because of the first shot. And it's it's it's great use of Like Christopher Nolan does actually a circular mode yes And he she uses Zac all around like the best car armor coming back at the very end which is also writing as well. I WANNA give Credit Chris well But she she was able to tell that story visually very yeah. Yeah which is which is the struggle with with this particular series since he is concerned with a lot of like emotional personal decisions. Yeah here's here's a here's the data through this is a fun fact a little Easter Egg for the folks like me So the canister that the best car is in Thermo Burner Herzog puts on is actually a reference to empire strikes back It's known in these Star Wars community as the ice cream maker In Empire strikes back. There's a guy running around in the background when clouds. He's being attacked and he's holding. It's an old ice cream maker but they re purposed it as some prop and it's never had a purpose. It's it's just been this like in joke with Star Wars community so they've purposefully put it in this episode to give this thing that's been running for like forty years. A purpose purview. So now now we know what it actually has. Its own container. So we need some imperialists with their little fucking mentos Like badges on their. Yeah their suits. If you guys go home and Google the Google Star Wars ice cream maker. You'll you'll see how it is now and so now. It has a purpose which I was really excited to see. I was like holy. Shit this is that is a deep fucking walking cut. Well done. I did lie again. It is a bit of a circular motifs. Even going back to the first episode with the schedule Yeah. She says you'll earn one. You'll find your surgical later. And he rejects assiduous and so like the just within the context for someone like me. Who hasn't you know done all the research to like look up what mandatory and everything but believe and like just The emphasis they put on the schedule and how he has to he rejected. And it sounds like it's something that's definitely important to the a character and For the fact that you know it's not something that he easily wants to just have yet to to bear the I've slain the mud horn bob with no I want to earn and it's a warrior culture. Yeah so yeah I have big.

"You five dollars fifteen dollars or more so check us out. You definitely need some stars comics that way. It's done but I'm gathering the meat of it now right. It's very exciting. TV show as well whichever one whichever medium we're going for. I'm glad it's happening. Because it's one of my favorite actors Star Wars. She's definitely she's slotted to do slated to episodes from Laurent Laurean. She's only typically historically known to do one show I'll look it up in a in a little bit where I found that but I'm excited for it and congrats. WBZ client the client's play by Werner Herzog and they quick fast in a hurry actor. pershing take the baby away and give the man delorean Rian. His Best Garner a ton of our apparently a lot of esker enough to make a full body series which she ends up with some leftover for the founder. Yes this is the way the and Going back to his men delorean underground cave He meets up with the armor who finds all the best armor And they decide to make a full suit. And that's the last we see of the flashback It goes back to seeing the mandolin kind of meditate on what he should do next. Yeah and he also so ask Carl weathers the where they can do with the baby and he says it's not my place to ask You know your place task either. It's against the code desk and He goes on his ship. And he's about to leave and then decides an eleventh-hour Bauer decision. To go save. Backed up against the corner and Lo and behold all of the mandolins that were very aggressive in the beginning. Come to save the day in their jeff pack tax needed and in a blazing glory Allow Iran three and they compare it to. "How about combat Carl because they wanted to get I think he wanted to get Carl weathers then oh, and we can't use that name. And so they just had the little GI Joes, right? Yeah. A little little army marriage Kelsey in this one. But then, so that's why it stuck in. Oh, what's his name going to be like, oh, it's still combat. Our holy fuck. They say the word car on the first one. Yeah. Yeah. So trying to guess the present, what is it a combat Carl? Yeah. I did. I it was such a little seen it lasted for. So little time maybe a couple of minutes. But when, when would he was on the scene is right? I'm not gonna win. It's cool next. The theme of the closet when the toys are kind of the old toys, and I just thought it was cool that it was Betty white Mel Brooks. Carol Burnett, Carl Reiner, all of these, like comedian legends that in all the names are like plays on their names. But the clock just crack me up, but who's counting. There's this. About that scene as well as when he got the dust bunny on him main, lean they kind of break it later on because later on, but it's like how he couldn't get it off of them. And they made it more like a narrative wise. It's like it's a hindrance he can take off. And I was like, oh, this is the reality, right? Like because he has a dust. It's like it's part of him now because he has to be relegated. The closet in the only person could take off is probably Bonnie. Not all of the gun. I did like a lot of the statements, they were making about a child attachment to emotions and experiences and coping mechanisms. It's very reminiscent of inside out and how he latch onto memories and what those memories mean, to us as a happy memory, a sad memory and what we need to do to cope. It's like it's not the cowboy toy but it's the twenty you make Pretty much a like career. a creation of your own thing. It's like look a buzz. Let your toilet. I'm still going to say is probably the most production value, toy like the have a real dope action for that fucking voice, and all back at it. I had it to broke thing. She played with Woody because he was just a rag doll. I think I mean, we'll talk with more probably in qualms, but I think it set up a lot of themes that it didn't really pay off, or, or really doing anything with there's a lot of setup work around, and it felt like maybe it didn't. Didn't you like it was there? I mean that childhood thing. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, because it's more about, like it's, it's more again, this is like Josh, what's more? I hate to say this word, but it has been story. This is a has been story of like times passes, the, the fucking got SARS born story link. I used to be this Greek in just wanna live the good. You don't have the good days. We'll talk more by that. I mean, I did like that as well with that, like, okay, this is where they're gonna take what cared. Because like again, what store do you have left to tell? And this is the store they want to go with them, like, all right? Let's see what happens. And, you know, the pretty much point fingers ever in a home get the spoiler in the beginning. But it's like how would he doesn't have he doesn't find he has a purpose anymore? And like that's his main motivation. It's sad. It's pathetic because it's supposed to be like, would he's now this he's not ship. It's like he's latching onto the only thing he could possibly do because he wishes he was four K as much as he was. And it's kind of like, okay, let's see that and turns into a completely Woody story or what movie. But it was kind of like, okay, cool. I want to see where this goes and how they tackle that on. But I it was interesting to see where that character went versus like how him buzz, we're currently plenty punch going killing has gone yet. One of my favorite bits, was actually the horror like esque scene of Gabby Gabby like making Woody and four key go through the central very gangsters to me. Like both combination of like a horror movie, and mafia would be limo. Basically, it'd be the kid who got this job for me. Yeah, I don't know. I think I liked it only because it was like kid level of scary because I don't like being actually scared. But I was like this is just scary enough, and I'm not scared for real and won't have. I will, I will hold your hand and agree with that because there's something to like, there's some to like a comedic take on horror like a Halloween horror opposed to the kind that I don't typically like. I really enjoy the dummies dummies hate. I hate. Is a strong word. Eight dummies are welcome here too. Like that. Dummy books where my favorite goosebumps. And so, I was I was delighted to see them even further delighted when the dummies were actually dummy, he's. Something talk because joke. I really liked as well. That was like, I don't know if this is record I play that we watch you guys tell me right now changing beau peep to porcelain, always been. Shiny. Well, I don't think they had the Seattle she's aligning. Flock. Yeah. But she's always made that sound like what he saw what he's close in Toy Story, three my God, that looks like actual denim as opposed to blue. I think that's all. She was part of a lamp also because I was like my God. And I, I mean I like the peace with Arek name wrong. But I think in the first one when she, like hooks him his neck makes tink sound, maybe the bow staff. I just remember Andy slapping, T Rex like an asshole. Jesus destroyer toys. I'm only a couple of blocks away. We'll talk about that, too. I also liked peop- being about us. Yeah. And being like oh, you're lost. I'm sorry. She's like it's great. I'm living the life now. And his confusion over that. I don't know. I just really enjoyed their interactions of her being like I'm an independent lady now like woman in wilderness. Can do you know like just to like the wildlife in the city man, who's like, I don't know how to running water and it's like the waterfall it's like we're going glancing, right? But I like that. And I liked that there was kind of this world of loss toys issue, where it's like way. Polly pockets, get Gabi began. So I love, I love now Gabby where the fuck Gabby bucking billon, dude. I love the version in the N T store, where they were just like huddled together and nightclub thing, those pretty cool, pinball will. Yeah. And then the other group of loss toys, which is the one with beau peep, who are like this, like, quote, unquote, traveling circus of loss toys that are just trying to find kids that wanna play with them, and I was like almost like there's a ninth or whatever they said, was felt like if they wanted to go super thematically, how LEGO does would like each world's their own thing, like the people in the sandbox like Mad Max kids, and then the people who are in the nightclub like Bladerunner rose, like we're all so high on living the life when a real kick saw your better half out there with the cat. You get the claws. Attitude. I, I liked Kiana res specifically how he wasn't a bad ass. Yeah. He was he was very doubtful human being because like this kennison's, but so far he's only been pretty bad ass. And I'm like, let's let's see some other things because, you know, he wasn't always that way. He's played romantic heartthrob and all stuff where he's like this weird or like an hardball. I don't have to do these kids, I was actually really. It was a breath of fresh air seeing having Keno like that. 'cause we, we are in the Chiasso, Kiana sense and. It's everything that we've seen have been kind of like not really a parody of himself, but it's really like you've got bad ass Kiana. You've got himself. Version of this, it was he's kind of a dope ish. And so it was kind of cool to get that a different a different Keno. Cool. It's like it's an John. Yeah. I think that's I think it's a French name. So good questions. We I did like that. They made Gabby again and we've kind of been dealing this with this all year. Like it's not. She's on a villain. She's an antagonistic, right? And they make it like they do the fuck, and, like, hey, I'm going to give you my voice box thing. And that's what she wanted what she needs in, because it's like cool. It doesn't have to be like, I beat the bad guy. Yeah. It's like we can make peace by sacrificing something and whatever. But I also like us she got fucking karma for it, and it was like she got thrown away. I'm like, in my mind. I was like, if they just give her away, and she fucking takes she hasn't learned anything learning about ourselves play semi rescind. My critique on it's on the themes because it did it does fall through the whole thing, they're establishing for key as thing that has made of garbage, but means the world to bond to Bonnie yet in the same vein. They have Gabby who's like wanting to make yourself at the the best toilets you possibly be the shiniest toy ki possibly make yourself. And then. It means nothing to. She puts a harm me on his pedestal. And she that's the only thing she wants. But what happens when you get what you want? You never to me. She doesn't. And that's the thing that's he didn't matter if for sound box. Typically good writing as as, as I've been told and I like this, I wanna go by. This is a good good, right? And you don't get what you want you get what you need. And you would you need is a lesson in, I need a lie and the lie that Gabby has got the name, right. Gabby. He needs to be owned by harmony only right. He's the perfect kid. And Woody also has come to the kid in the book. Yeah. And that's like a, you know, predisposed thing that she wants to fulfill should've been might be Ramona's. There should have been another host credit scene that showed what he just tapping Gabby on his shoulder meal like so if you're not using that voice box, do you mind if I get it. She did offer to give it back. But she she did she's like I'll give it back. Surgery. I meant like, okay that's your mopey sentiment. Like. God, bunny Duckie key? Yes. The lasers at the end, straw, plush rush. I just love they're connected by the hand by two-thirds totally thing. That's fantastic like attention to detail that animals. Yes. But the fact that like is probably one of the end maters or writer like side was like that's happening..

"Yeah. Glover even came at his wife at the press. Call woman woman. That was those comfortable and he really put a, a woman rocky. Oh, yeah. He smoked him. I like I mean, Apollo one by decision hold onto any spoilers for anyone. Was up early on the cards but cluber was the I put him out. I mean, that was a woman rocky redeemed himself later. Not a rocky guy. Key? Man, I don't I just isn't a boxing hall of fame. He is yet. That's real talk. That's pretty is the only thing on those when they played the song, Philadelphia Eagles and we played the eagles in championship gang. Tried to get the crowd height didn't work. Didn't come back the next year when we closed down the vet and opened up link so standing at the top. They plan he's jumping. A crowd, waving the thing they went home with L again. So that's all I know they may want to try to stop doing that up in the league even as a kid rock rocky rattle. No. Because I'm not a big box like I don't wanna see people's eyes all slowly and bleed and just deal. You know, not real right? It is a movie. No. Boxing, is real not in the movies. It's not a stand that just just not your thing. Because it's another one of those well never mind. I'll let l z whenever you know. I was going to get there. I was gonna because that cluber kept losing because Apollo had all of a sudden he's another dude prop. That show the great American way, there is not an athletic endeavor on earth, that Carl weathers is losing till Silvester Stallone, right? Complain renders is losing to rocky when film predator car, weather's actually had bigger biceps than Arnold, at that, quote, weathers was a monster. Yeah. When they were running on the beach in rocky three as like okay? Look, maybe Rockies gotta chin made of iron and these never going down. He's not beating Apollo creed in a race. Got reach beds. Height of industry advantage speed. Rockies. How many I don't know what you can't got out of hand. I'd stop counting Tommy Morrison. If you count, the creed movies, there's been two of those, there's been eight of them. I come see the cream not see creed creed the first ones decent. It was basically rocky one with the black person, right? Was black rocky. For black black hero. As what did he do beat up another black to win it. You. Yes. Well, he didn't win if you watch the Rockies surviving getting through it. So, you know. You gotta get through. We do. There you go. Dodgers had a comeback last night, key four in the bottom of the night to beat the Mets. Yeah. That is true. We'll travis. We thought we had a great pitching matchup between rock Walker. Bueller and Noah Syndergaard starting against each other do Beulah Gema five earned runs and Syndergaard three. The Mets total thirteen hits the dodgers fifteen dodgers played a lot of small ball, which I was happy of with eleven of those being extra-base hits a lot of doubles. I even seen our new guy Betty, VDB get a double for the first time in his career. Thank God for the closure of an win. DA's a bad now. Yeah. He did very well Peterson got ahold of him as well as Muncie. They both went yard big dunks off him in their teammates, finished it off with a w Rosh. They were really good last night and you're small ball stuff. They hit for home runs. It was so interesting, though. I'm sitting there and watching last night..

"Today. We know. That's Luke talking to rave. You think? Generations living Yuna underwhelmed by the trailer. At least in terms of the lore of what is Star Wars. And this film does not pick up immediately. After the last Jedi. He says that there has been some time that goes by whenever that happens in the Star Wars universe. That leaves an opening for another show, another movie and other cartoon, whatever it is. By the way, the Disney, plus streaming service that you may have heard a lot about in the last couple of hours perhaps day and a half. Or so the man the Laurean is going to be the first live action television series based in the Star Wars universe. Man delorean. What does that mean? I don't know. I like that word. I know. But it sounds franscisco. It rolls off the tongue onto say Pedro, PASCAL. Nick Nolte is going to be in that Giancarlo Esposito guy. Carl weathers is going to be a Nick Nolte. What's he been up to? He was in a show on I want to say epochs or something like that about. The being a president at one point. It was very hard to watch. I'll say that. Yeah. All right. We come back our nine news nuggets, you need to know all those stories that sort of fell by the wayside because we had more important things to talk about the last week. Gary and Shannon will continue Amy king has an update from the newsroom, the LA county department of children and family services has eight is constantly improving to keep kids safe DCFS overseas. Two million children in LA county. Michelle Vega with the department says about thirty five thousand of those kids are in potentially abusive home, social workers, go into this field out of a desire to help and work with children and struggling families. These are the most vulnerable among us, and we do see this as an opportunity to work together. Mega says social workers are constantly training and updating policies and practices. "But the actual speech itself is home warious moving is a disease. As contagious as syphilis. Losing is a disease as contagious as robotic play. This guy is trying to move the team by hearing dozing to syphilis in the Banovic plague if that doesn't inspire you folks, I don't know what will that? That's really funny. I like the the montage nature of like how that is cut in inter spliced. And then I I like all of the newspaper headline montages. I think that. That is obviously a staple of cinema conveying information to you in rapid fashion, especially in a movie this long. I think you find yourself very grateful for those scenes sequences because you can just digest a lot quickly. But I found myself thinking like this is just like Twitter for us now or push notifications. This is how people consumed information back. Then you had your headline. You got the information. How many hissy up how many home runs did he have did he refuse to take the intentional walk in you? Stick is bad out to to make contact instead. So I quite liked that intervention as best we can kind of violating their format. Sorry, we can still we can still talk about it there as well. On the lightning both thing. Yeah. The great special effects. Yeah. We're filming this, right? My son's been watching Harry Potter. Why don't you tell me? He watched the first movie from two thousand one. Okay. And there's that scene whether playing the game Quinton flying around quidditch, the special effects are awful. I mean awful though lightning. The lightning scene is more realistic has better more state of the art special effects than a scene where everyone's flying around in two thousand one who made who made Harry Potter. The Sorcerer's Stone froze directed at Chris Columbus. He's gotta go back and CGI better special effects. We were like laughing check out the quidditch scene in the third movies. I want figure that prisoner asked ban. There is a quidditch match played in lightning. Oh, you'll enjoy. Yeah. It's great Harry's on this new broom, everything I can't believe you told me that Ben was entering the Harry Potter university listening to Benjamin not yet because he's got to read the book. I. He's he's got to learn how to read first and then. The movies are pretty good though. What happens when the kid goes through puberty? What do they do? Then it's great. They all the agents of the roles. Pretty well. I mean, there were making them did he have bones. Like, Ben Higgins and the bachelor where I don't know if Daniel Radcliffe ever, light got a Harry Potter. But Ben Higgins, ask speech out talking his erection while filming. What was the most rewatch scene for you? It's got to be the walk off Homer. It's fair. It has to be. I mean, I've seen this movie. So many times that's not my pick. Okay. I it's just it's magnetic and captivating in a way that it's great. It's the it's the greatest show scene of any sports ever. It's fabulous. I except for maybe rocky getting knocked down in the fourteenth round of rocky one and Adrian coming out the hat and Carl weathers thinking he won and turning around and then rocky like stumbles up and does the wave in Apollo's body, just sinks that might be a better Chelsea Manning. I think about it more. That's a good Taylor tape. I don't know. It's just the scene is perfect. Not only in the the climactic moment at self. But everything that leads up to it. Breaking wonderboy pick me a winner..

"They said just to touch on that of all like the behind the scenes nominations fifty three or females. So that's about twenty five percent of the nominees. That's up two percent from twenty three percent of the nominees last year and twenty percent in two thousand seventeen. Yeah. And even like in the nominated producers five of the twenty five or female and one of the seventeen producers for best animated feature is a woman. Anyway. Yeah. But, hey, at least black parents who became when I superhero movie just to get a best picture or not. Yeah. That's cool. I like black awesome. I just like I was like really like that's like it was like it was dope flick. I know if it was like the best pitcher flick. I think they're like taking into the fact that it was such a popular home jewel moment. I mean, I don't know how many people are gonna say like, this is the most brilliant, storytelling. It's just the most solid luck in superhero movie. And I think for that. I mean, that's why I'm not mad at it. But yet I mean, look what you get ten nomination ten nominees for best picture. Fucking Black Panther better. Be. Yeah. I thought, you know, Ryan Kugler probably deserved to be nominated for best director and Michael b Jordan. Probably deserved the best supporting actor nominee waiters. That performance is just so good. Yeah. Yeah. People if he pays his whole that move. We came out. Yeah. That's going to give those like dope roles. I've watched him since he was with the wire. Like, always, dude. Like, that's cool. That's going to get roles. Where like, you know, like interesting as they come on interesting roles or he's a bad guy or villain or like a like a less award gray character. I'm so excited. It's rather than Carl weathers, son. Yeah. Exactly. It's not so great great role. He's gonna play Carl weathers son from jumping Jack flash. So another narrative about the nominees is that they scrapped that idea of having best popular movie. Oh, right. Right. Right..

Maybe it will join the circus. What the show Arcus? There's a lot of scenes in this. What do you mean by that? Like the acrobats and the train for that. Fight. Why do that you'd making good money? In the way, they pay as good as fighting. You know, probably too old to learn completely fucking around. Jesus christ. I'm obviously gonna die soon. I had like had like three bags. I've had three false loans movie started rack, I'm not gonna make it. So it's time for the fight yet for the for the big fight Apollo's in the press box. It's great to see him back. Carl weathers could not look at her. It's so funny to put on rocky. And you're like all right, Carl weather is a great actor then you put on movies like he he's fine. But. Everybody thinks Rockies gonna fuck cream. This guy wants him to because he's got such big fucking mouth. Yeah. People love rocky. And you like you feel like you get I think that's well say what you will about sloan's ego. I feel like. It makes sense that people love rocky so much. I don't know why. I don't know if you like quantify why you know, maybe he's like a blue collar boy made then became like people love to see that. Yeah. I mean, I think like the medically. You can explain it. But just like I just feel it in the movie like when they start chanting for him and stuff it just feels like, yeah, I'm amped as if America has the same past experience with him. I e rocky one in into that we do and make sense immediately on his. Yeah. Watched them go through some shit. Yeah. And then clubbers by he doesn't wanna talk to the press right making their way to the ring and fucking scuffle like. I think he's I'm gonna beat you dog and make has a fucking full blown heart attack. And he's fucked up. And cluber even gives creed some shit. Yeah. And that's fucking great. He's calling him boy and stuff. Cable read your back on me Succo. I love fucking. That's a second time. Shove me and then Apollo. This show. Yeah. It's great like seeing how pissed Apollo Apollo. He's the most fun character. He's he's very he's got the most shit going on right? Yeah. And they give them a fucking awesome. Turn. I this is what we'll get to when it happens. But this is what elevates this movie. In his in the locker room comforting mic who's all fucked up and like on his last legs. Would he goes into the fetal position, it's pretty brutal. Like a little tiny old guy. Just like curls up so fragile into fucking like the iron Rockies dad, essentially and Rockies fucked up because the guy's going to die. And I can't believe MSC says go fight. Like if I'm rocky. Oh, mike. I can't. I'm so sorry. If your club, and so, you know, clubbers the ref gives them the rules and clubbers like dead meat yet. Did he scared? Iraqi starts fast, and but then club comes right back. And this is like terrible boxing zero defense. Both these guys just taken headshots and rocky looks bad. Yeah. But Stallone takes a punch is like the fuck and best at the end of the first round. He's he's in his corners lose pole. Yeah. Yeah. It's not doesn't have made. It's not boxing. But Stallone's good at whatever it is. I don't know what it is. It's like it just works for his sells, it whatever you can almost ignore anything that's happening with the hands because his face. And it's. Yeah. There's a couple times where you can like see the punch the it doesn't line up perfectly. But it still looks fucking CGI bullshit. They do a lot of way better than and they go for it. They give you these wide shots for they're trying, you know, and like it's it's enough of you could see the camera trick, but it satisfying Riyadh. Kanye West wants everyone to know he's still team Trump

"For Trump? Kim Kardashian got a woman freed from prison. What have you done lately? I agree with Trump's decision on that analysis. Marie johnson. Who was leading a drug ring. It turns out, but she was pardoned by President Trump because Kanye west and Kim Kardashian lobby. It is that simple and Kanye west has been pushing hard for criminal Justice reform. So it's Kim Kardashian and President Trump is about to overrule Jeff Sessions on criminal Justice reform in the same way, largely because of Connie's lobbying so Conde by extending a hand actually received a hand in return. Which is why you saw that name from predator going day of the of the Arnold Schwarzenegger, arm and the Apollo creed arm. You know, the the Carl weathers arm locked in the the Muslim embraced. That's what you saw yesterday at the White House. So it was wild. I mean, let's not pretend that this was a meeting of brilliant minds on serious issues. It was Konya west and Donald Trump in the Oval Office in a scene directly out of any operas. He, but was it important for the culture that there be somebody in a prominent position to say. Yeah, I'm allowed to think for myself. Yeah. That's that's important stuffs. Anyway, Khania goes to the White House, and again, I don't like celebrity politics. But this is the world we have chosen this is where we live. I I hate celebrity politics when it was Obama is Martha crap out of them for this sort of stuff. I hated it when it was Hillary Clinton used to mock her incessantly for this sort of stuff. I don't like it from Republicans either by an what I say, I don't like celebrities in the Oval Office, and I don't like the meeting with the president. And I don't like all of the pomp and circumstance and show. Oh, and all that believe me. I don't. But since this is the world we have chosen in the world we had chosen to live in it is hypocritical for folks on the left to suggest great one. Does it terrible. When Trump does anyway, Konya shows up the White House and things got wild things got really wild. Because it turns out Connie as wild dude sat here, he is in the Oval Office wearing his maga- hat, and the press are just eating this stuff up the press, the very serious press who say no, we must treat president with the presidency in the Oval Office of all sorts of respect they're eating this up. They love it. They couldn't love anything. More cigarettes Tanya yesterday saying that Trump did not expect crazy. Mojo Hania fair enough areas. Hero's journey right now. "Seems slightly out of questions because he's not much of an actress anymore. But that doesn't mean that there aren't characters that he could play as a live action, especially if you know, they do maybe a riff on like him being some kind of aged mercenary maybe as a nod to his role in predator or something like that. But Carl weathers also has a history of doing some voice work to he
