"You could just tell. He is like but it's like dude. I understand okay. So you're saying that phil jackson drip to play for coup coach. Because he's white. Okay let's say. I give you that you still have to go back into the game but you just. Can't you have team there and you have team. Eleven another teammates. You can't just sit on the bench like there's just no defense for that. And i think he knows that so he throws all this other shit at the wall and it's just like i don't know i think it comes out to play therapists here but it comes from his years of being second fiddle to michael and insecurity and he referenced it in an interview saying this is the one year that i was supposed to be the guy to get the final shot. You're giving it his frigging guy. Tony coup coach. Give me a break because it was in chop liver. I mean he wasn't good pl- pippins. Get what you're saying. Hey look kill the knicks enemy the shot that's where pippen and planing but the guy the play. The play jackson droop worked and cujo coach made the shot. So it's a point. You gotta just maybe be quiet for a second about it. You could understand to a certain extent why he might feel slighted or absolutely. Think it all these years. I've got to live in jordan chatto. He's outta here and now there's a place for tony drinking cuco what. I've been doing the hard work. So i can get that part of it. But at the end when he's talking about the cameras and who they leading to like. Oh yeah there's a documentary being filmed about michael jordan so but the truth is still the truth right like they made this. You know jordan. Paxton made the shot jordan game. And that's still what happened like with. The camera showed here payments zoa. I love the takes behind the scenes. Clearly there were other issues there that you know like i said the did paint him in a bad light what that did happen. So i mean to your point. Really what can you say about him. You know sitting out in that an issue. What's up subway jordan so I think pin look on a revenge story. Or he's taking everybody's getting in his wife not true the last thing. 'cause i gotta get this in because i don't care what's happening in sports. Nba final mba. Whatever conference finals baseball. Whatever else is going on the only story i care about right now. With cleveland down in this series to golden state and then lebron ends up pulling off the comeback in cleveland. That's game off the court many examples as well russell westbrook making the cover of g. q. That's game and donating three thousand meals to houston during their crisis. That's game as well. The road to the nba finals is on. Don't miss a moment road to the nba. Finals continues watch the nba playoffs. Now it's time for the weekly train of thought segment. "Off turned the high school. No good possessing comes. lyles kenny. nine three sets up. That is a huge win for no allows men nine fought hard down the stretch and finished third in a time of nineteen point. Eight four seconds which is absurd for seventeen-year-old in which broke hussein boats under eighteen world record. Yes that hussein bolt. He even looks a little like hussein. He's six foot three hundred and seventy pounds with a similar sort of gliding running style. That looks more efficient than powerful. Like many of the shorter sprinters allows. But that's six foot. Three hundred seventy pound frame typically would have taken him somewhere else somewhere down another more familiar path if bringing talent had been so hard to deny from the start nightmares from tampa florida. Which i tell you personally is one of the most rabid and competitive youth football environments in this country. He started high school at hillsborough high school. The oldest high school in town and the alma matter of great athletes like dwight. Gooden gary sheffield and carl everett. It's very big baseball. School among many others so knighton as one does in tampa started out in high school was a football player and hadn't even run track. Competitively until is coaches asked him to do it to improve speed. His first major competition came in twenty nineteen now remember. That's only two years ago. His first major track competition happened in twenty nineteen at the florida state. High school track meet. We finish fifth in the two hundred meter dash. That's beat made knighton of four star recruit and the scholarship. Football offers started to roll in from florida and florida state in alabama among all of the others night and played all over the field. He was a quarterback he was a wide receiver. He was a running back. He was the safety. And you'd figure that. Nick sabin would have been able to call the deal on any speedy six foot three high school football player in the southeast. But nope and even give him or anyone else a chance. He decided to forego his final two years of high school and turned pro. He signed a sponsorship in january with adidas at the age of sixteen. And he's not look back. He broke the ten second barrier into one hundred meters at a meet and ford in may. That's just you know little more than a month ago. Later that month set the world under eighteen mark for the boys two hundred finishing at twenty point eleven seconds. Last week he ran a time of twenty point. Four seconds and the two hundred then he ran nineteen point. Eight eight in the semifinals beating the under twenty record held by the legendary same boat. Then there was last night so obviously there's a lot more head of area knighton but at the very least he was smart enough to run right past football and into tokyo. That's great after hearing that it seems guaranteed that some. Nfl team is gonna draft him. It's unbelievable well signed him as a free agent. I bet you he plays football again. I don't know when he's really or somebody will try to convince him to play football. Certainly for a male athlete to do this at seventeen. We've seen women allyson felix sending mclaughlin. They were prodigies as teenagers. But to do this at at seventeen is just i mean. There's a reason why it hasn't been done in fifty years. It's like what an accomplishment. I kid as even really had a chance to train like professional yet i mean. Just think of the things you were eating and how you worked out when you were seventeen years old presumably a little different from area knighton but probably not that different from most seventeen year olds so stefan also. I know you'd want me to mention john harrison. Lsu athlete won first place in the long jump. And the high jump I since jim thorpe in one thousand nine hundred twelve. I thought you were going to save that for the bonus segment but that would be tease. Maybe we'll get into a more but like that's pretty good. It's pretty cool to know what else. I'm going to petition to rename the after ball because of what just happened in croatia spain euro twenty twenty one of the most incredible fuck ups that you'll ever see on a soccer field. Spain passes the ball back from forty yards like nearly midfield to the goalkeeper who lifts his head and the ball rose by him and into the net croatia. One spent nothing nice mon goalkeeper. Thank you seven. Petition denied that interest. Today our producer. This week was margaret kelly. This is mars last week. No guys didn't know she she didn't tell you. Yeah it's margaret last week. We're so grateful.

Nick sabin john harrison adidas margaret kelly jim thorpe six foot forty yards lyles kenny two hundred Today Four seconds fifty years carl everett last week january Last week florida Three hundred nineteen point seven

"I mean there are no coaches that we know of that are openly gay. They're no general managers that we know that opened gave cuts no owners that we know that open. You know what i mean like. I felt like they're still so many levels to this where people either they are. And don't feel comfortable enough to come out within this culture right or you know like i guess maybe they were just waiting on somebody else to do it in come four or maybe it's so maybe it's a part of the culture already in the nfl and there are gay people that are on staffs up and down the front offices or whatever and we just don't know about it but there are supported by like an work and not on twitter that we would say yes. But i just feel like the fact like you said justice that there's this absence absence of public support so far. Sort it to me as a tell in like i said the fact like couldn't come out until two twenty twenty one in spite of the fact that 'cause you said stuff that seventy percent of people say that they support gay marriage right but i don't think that that has to mean anything and i also think that like when people ask you a question on a survey that's totally different than oh. Do i want my teammates to be gay. Do i want to shower next to a guy that has gay and i think that like if you dig into that and people are actually honest but what did you expect i mean did you want like a full-blown press conference i mean isn't this the right way for something like this to be handled when an athlete is comfortable making a statement and doing it in their own way jim brzezinski writing in out. Sports said that you know. He noted that there was a plans nonchalance to this that this announcement was made and he wrote the dead part of the offseason six weeks before training camp late in the workday on the east coast without fanfare. Even the raiders players reactions were positive but with a sense of shrug meaning. This was not going to be the dreaded locker room distraction. I mean it's not training camp and it gives the team and nasa abs teammates nasa. You know a few months to work the room and get adjusted to it and plan for what's going to happen when players have returned to campus. I if you you weeks but isn't this the way that this should be done. I mean did we should be done. It should be done however anybody wants to do it exactly. And this was the a y y y. The nfl has earned the benefit of the doubt. That's what we're saying. That like okay. Like a response or not a response not enough over responsi- too much of a response to whatever the responses would it is right now and we're just saying let's just hold off because the nfl hasn't done anything to show that it actually is like an ally to lgbt community. What else would you like the nfl to do. Here's what i would say. Also that back to the michael. Sam thing and invoked your name joel. Because he wrote a great buzzfeed feature about michael sam his in his family that people should read. If they haven't but. I feel like he paid the price for kissing his boyfriend. And i feel like again. Maybe karl nasa wants to announce this in a way that makes him feel or look really safe and normal. But like you know. Jj watt is like sharing his wedding photos and all of the summer. Aaron rodgers is just like him. Cavorting around with so you woodley in hawaii in whatever so there's just a way in which karl nasa has to be that straight. Nfl players have the freedom to do whatever they want and present themselves however they want and so. I don't think that the nfl is there yet for gay players. And i also feel like. It's going to be really hard for carl nasa to navigate this as somebody who was just i think he just did a great job and that video game like i'm just like a normal football dude but also here's one hundred thousand dollars for the trevor project like he's gonna feel and want to be this role model and ally for all of the people for whom this is gonna be so important that he exists and is out and proud but he also is not going to want to be like the gay. Nfl guy who not the only thing that people know about and that must be just incredibly hard lake to to navigate that somebody who wants to fit in but as the only out player like how is he going to possibly be able to do that and also do the like work in the service that he clearly wants to do. I mean a lot of the players the most of the players that have come out after retirement have gone on to be active in. Lgbtq areas esera. Tuaolo way davis. I mean they're almost all the nfl players that have that have come out have made it a part of their lives and carl. Nasa is just saying. I'm gonna make a part of my life now. Will it be difficult for him. He almost anticipate that. I'm also sure that he talked to his teammates. And he talked to the raiders front office. This didn't happen in a vacuum and part of that plan. Nonchalance was the preparation the groundwork that he had to of laid with his employers and his teammates to try to make sure that this is done in a way that everyone would feel comfortable with you know and in terms of like with a burden on him. he's accepting that burden because he is the first you know he said in that video actually hope that one day videos like this and the whole coming out process are just not necessary but until then he's going to do what he wants to do to cultivate a better place. I'll just bring up one more one more player. I'm not gonna say his name. It was not long after the michael sam situation. And i'm not gonna say his name because it's just a little uncomfortable and i don't know if we can't confirm a lot of this but there was a top. Nfl safety. I think the pro football focus had him ranked like the fourth best strong safety in the nfl. In the off season there were pictures of him holding a man in a way that suggested that they were in a romantic relationship on some sort of tropical vacation. He never played in the nfl again and he just disappeared and you can probably look it up if you wanna look this guy's name up but i'm very dubious of the nfl. And i mean there's still blackballing colin kaepernick eric. Reid okay. good job. That guy disappeared from the nfl. I'm happy for carl forward to him playing well in football and potentially becoming an activist and a leader for so many other. Lgbtq youth but The nfl is the wildcard here and they haven't done anything to prove that we should trust them. They're going to do right by that guy. And that's i guess we'll we'll find out they'll have to. There are going to have to back up their words regardless of what the nfl does. What karl nasa did is incalculably important for. Lgbtq people for kids for athletes who are unlikely or less likely to play because of their fears so.

"You know he won the author ash award for the espy's he was hailed as a hero and then within two years he wasn't a professional football player anymore. And i know that there are a lot of people that think that he wasn't a very good football player and in fact i heard from former. Nfl players that hit me up over the weekend. After i was tweeting about it to say oh he wasn't really good. He wasn't a very good player and it had nothing to do. You know him being gay but actually the means that that sort of tell that people were so defensive about the idea that maybe the nfl is not one hundred percent meritocratic and quite as accepting as people think it is and to that point it says something that is twenty twenty one and this is the first player that has an active nfl player. That has felt comfortable enough to come out and so. I don't think that people should be any less diligent. We should not be resting on our laurels here. Now that call nasa the hard work of coming out. It's up to everybody else to hold the nfl accountable and see that there that there's something beyond their rhetoric that there is something beyond you know off handed tweets about. Oh yeah we're so proud of you. We're ready to accept you blah blah blah. Like i mean the real work is to come now. And i guess just find out how committed they are to that. You mentioned michael. Sam and him not being in the nfl anymore. Not getting the chance to really be very much in the first place. And it's very reminiscent of how when colin kaepernick started to kneel. Suddenly he wasn't a good quarterback anymore and the bigger towel on that i mean. I think there's honestly no argument to make that captured action being the nfl on merit. But like there's even a worse that eric reid shouldn't be in the nfl. The dude was one of the best safeties and the nfl was playing in an incredibly high level and then suddenly once he supports. Cabernet starts kneeling. He's not good enough to be in the nfl. Either and it is extremely common for people who have never heard of carl. Massive have never watched play to solve a sudden. Be like that guy's not that good or as you said jaw maybe will look at his stats this year and say they're only playing him because they want the good publicity. I mean these are things that will be inevitable and it is fascinating to me that the nfl just clearly thinks this is a very positive thing for its image. Tweeting out. Congratulations tweeting out. A video saying kind of remarkably like football is ge y lesbian beautiful queer culture transgender promoting the trevor project. I mean this is the national football league. I mean that's that's amazing. It is amazing. That should be what is the institution of professional football going to support this guy again. The great point of joel made on a day-to-day basis. When there's not a public service announcement. What are the kind of rank and file players. What are the coaches. And i know that not to play into stereotypes but football coaches I mean come on. You know what i'm talking about. I mean they're i mean they're overpaid. Jim coach's i mean you know what i mean like. I mean we're not talking about a bastion of progressive so among coaches. I'm going to push back a little bit and say that there are a lot of assistant coaches on. Nfl staff who are in their twenties and thirties who are more progressive. Urine locker rooms jol in my short time in. Nfl locker room. Fifteen years ago fifteen summers ago it would not have shocked me if players were not wholly supportive of a player who decided to come out. I think that we underestimate the progressiveness of the nfl workforce overall. And i think that the sort of steps the nfl has taken in the last week issuing a statement from cadel putting out this this video which has its just white lettering on a black background. And there's no voice over there's some music and cheer in the background for the audio track but that was a remarkable thing. And i do think that will have some trickle down as much as it is an institutional message teams in front offices that this is something that is not a big deal that we need to support. So you believe that. That's more sincere than for instance the messages in the end zone about racial equality. You're more willing to believe this than that. I am more willing to believe that this is easier in some ways for nfl teams to deal with because he's is all front offices really care about and pr song. They were genuinely progressive. Not that they cared about ease. Well i'm talking about players being progressive. Not necessarily the teams. But i think in this case the teams do have an incentive to just sort of say this is no big deal and we support these causes. I don't think this is a big lift. Whereas i do think that because of the national conversation about race on about policing that was more fraught for these leagues you know what is it. Like seventy percent of the american public in surveys now support gay marriage. This is a safer bet for the league in terms of its fan base. Carl nasa has a sixteen and a half million dollars guaranteed on his contract. This is not an easy cut for the raiders. He is a productive player. He's not a superstar but they signed him to a three-year twenty five million dollar contract with more than sixteen guaranteed. He is on established player. And that makes a difference too. Well stuff i think the thing is is that i do agree that we often underestimate players in this equation that they have played with ino of players within their own locker rooms. That are gay. I right but i mean. I think it says something like only one player. That has been an active. Nfl fell player has felt comfortable enough to come out to me. That's the exact same thing. Shouldn't we be listening to what we're not hearing from the the the gay players that are certainly in the nfl. They must know something. I mean some of joel. It must be fear and we know that fear is an always one hundred percent rational but if it was unbelievably progressive and safe environment than this wouldn't have been the first guy like this to ever happen. And also like j. J. watt senator nice message. Nasa penn state teammates saquon barkley. Some nice message. There weren't many players that the team did. But you're right star. Star tom brady. Where's whereas you know. This was not an overwhelming response. In the way that it might have been will think about it too..

Sam j. J. watt eric reid colin kaepernick seventy percent Fifteen years ago Jim twenties michael thirties nfl more than sixteen Carl nasa saquon barkley last week sixteen and a half million dol fifteen summers ago Nasa two years first player

"Madden place madden. I don't think he does. I think i'm sure he did. When it first came out but at this point now. I don't think so. Thank it's just like forget this man picture him recently. I mean he's older. Was the ronnie lott. Picturing went great. He's up there in age but a lot of time. He didn't get cheated out of life. Though i promise you that john is is is is maximized his career and made a difference in a lot of ways. Cool and this video game. Continue to so i always wonder the guys like like madden's case the games named after if he sat down kick anybody's ass like a former till guy. He coached just for fun and beat him. I always wonder. I probably played much but interesting. Icon unbelievable sportstalk seven ninety. We're going to hear quickly from dusty baker and jose or katie. When we come back just to wrap up this baltimore series. They moved to detroit. That's next korczak. Seven hundred let the celebration star. Wars sean salisbury. On sports talk seven. Ninety nothing win ten in a row. Thirteen and nothing win. Everybody get involved starters bench players coming in and starting and they continue this role again. Take a ten game winning streak and the best team in baseball's rolling into detroit to play at comerica park against a team. That's what a whole bunch of games under five hundred not very good but hey it's still baseball. And they get paid too so pay back. Pay back for that earlier series there you go and it's on the road so let's do this thing and Dusty baker when you talk about win streaks and the rest of it i know dusty had to feel pretty good just about winning another game you know. We made a conscious effort. We talked about it about about playing. You know our cable Plan of dark capabilities around associate plan. You know because sometimes you get up for the real good teams and and you don't want this whole against other teams so We had a district on You know feels good to win. And you know. I've been on teams. That weren't so good and you know when you get opposition down you've got to keep them down You don't wanna just count on them but at the same time. He's he can off dogs whenever you want to so Chance to get everybody in the game is a chance to keep guy sharp You know it guys some rest that a needed time because like i said we started this. I mean this trip streak that this was going to be one are toughest streaks In consecutive games. Men land physically. So i'm just happy win. Playing good teams will test how talented your team is. Playing bad teams will test. What kind of character you have as the good team. And they're proven it as a head to detroit. Jose or keady another sharp start money. Here's what he said about. Well how amazing this astros team is the win everyday. We know that we thin games weighed in a row and we hope be ladies all. Let's games Sign for us. The stimulus unbelievable the offense Teacher still in in. We want to the wind more wins in a row. There you go. Jose or to tin. They wanted to keep it rolling. Here's part of the last night in the win Impressive while this may not be as intriguing to some meaning the white sox series or the padres of the dodgers still going on the road and getting back at detroit and continue on the street now keeps the interested if you're a player to even if you get a little tired mentally is to say i don't wanna be the reason the streak ended while you want to win in the streets but don't kid yourself we all. I know the people think of that's media stuff players. Don't think about it all if they're thinking about why jose or keating no i'm not saying they're saying they're not but people who say it wide jose or keating of the ten game win streak. What damn right you know you just like if you're smart on a golf course you know who the guy is leading and posted a score that you don't you may your game may not be right you know. What a ten game win streak isn't you. Don't wanna be that guy that guy who's my air or my inability to to move the ball the other way or hit a sacrifice fly or cut a ball off in a gap or to get through the sixth inning. I don't wanna be the reason. And that's what part of this goes so it keeps you sharp not just guys off the bench like dusty said and keep guys into it but this keeps you into it too because you don't want to be the reason you want to be the reason the street continues not the reason that even hurt. Put it this way victories. Don't people don't don't don't celebrate the victory as i've said before as toughest most athletes take the losses. It's always harder to lose than it is easier to celebrate the win. It lasts longer. The is suck. Well another game now who they have after this series with detroit back home for baltimore baltimore where there you go. This mystery could run a huge. They'd take care of business. It's exactly right you know. I don't want to sit here and say you're gonna sweep the tigers on the road but hey you never know keeping that focus right tomorrow. Guys obviously have john clayton. Aaron wilson will be in at eight o'clock today with my high. School is part of the on the receiving end in the afc championship against coronado high school. This has got to stop. I come from eighty percent hispanic high school and people throwing tortillas at at the players during a game and then with the slurs and stuff. I don't wanna ended on a bad. No we'll discuss that tomorrow. This is at the high school level. Are we kidding are we. Kidding goes both ways can't do it. We'll discuss that tomorrow. Great show appreciate your guys insight In the trenches next followed by the math. Thomas show With ross in the eighteen. This afternoon joe george in a chair in the other chair not the producers chair for adam plant is on vacation for. Mci sean don't never take you for granted back at it tomorrow. Aaron wilson will be in studio. Sportstalk seven ninety..

"Give me the lineup and let me go play. That is one right. I've had about. Mlb the show that i love. And i when i was younger i felt like i could take the time to do it. All because you're playing video games for hours and hours and hours you could do the career mode the road to the show but you have to go through playing minor league baseball and it could take you two full seasons or something to get called up to the big leagues and it's like this takes forever. I just wanted to go with them. Be for me. it's like okay. The astros playing a red sox at fenway park. Pick my start. let's go. i got my lineup. They can adjust. Let's go play. I want to and that's i did. I don't have the patience with when the with video games to build it and he makes a great point that and these cheat codes. What's why do i wanna cheat code. Still use those. I really so. I don't know if people do or not. does that. Defeat the purpose of of conquering the game though or is that just society now that we want to cut corners to beat the game. Why would you wanna use it on your own. I used to use them on grand theft auto just to get the police off. Yeah only all over. I still do this. Ray does have a point on the glitch. I've had the last year's madden. I was playing a dude online. He beat me and for whatever reason he beat me in overtime for whatever reason it gave me the ball back and it allowed me to score and we ended up in a tie. It made no sense there. You go and if you're bet little money little side fund better if you're an elected little league and you're playing them or dinner on the line with your buddies and that happens glitch. The computer the game says you one tyler or are you tied whatever you want so here you go and raise case. He lost the game. But you're in it. You got the ball back tied up so man. What if you're the guy who was the thought you'd want it would suck i get it so yeah well with computers. There's always gonna be or. Should i say video games. You'll always have a little bit of a glitch. Apparently for both you and ray. That was one of them berry. How you doing man. Welcome in man wanna money. He's he's over eighty. We play we off every week. It beats me two out of three games. I'm ashamed to say how old are you. I'll be seventy in december. Okay cr busting out the nintendo we. That's some big how how old is ever go bowling together. On we bowling we have We prefer the gospel We tried the tiger woods golf with we and a couple of others but that cartoony regular week off the ball more realistic than the others. We just find it a lot more fun to play any now. How old are you cut out for me. How old you bury fifty okay. Your buddies and eighty year old and he will to your ass two out of three times. Yeah yeah he says it tires tires him out too much to actually stand up and and swing the club. He fits in the chair and just put his wrist and he owns you when it comes to win in that game. Two out of three two out of getting but Amo barry yeah. I'm i'm i'm too busy Play disc golf to there. You go great stuff. Thank you good guy. i love it. Yeah stay at active with the disc off to the one. You're playing a seventy year old colony. We go about it right. And i love it. He's playing disc golf too. And i love it and see. There's no age limit on people getting their ass kicked in a video game or playing. I'm that's a great great call. Who do what tyler. Society focused on very. Who's up next on alone. Sorry drew drew there. You go thank you drew. Welcome in matt how you doing. I'm doing good doing this morning. Good buddy great to have you on what's happening appreciate you having me on just wanted to chime in on the game. I'm twenty eight. So i mean that believing range. I grew up on video games. And i wanted to ask really mc if he remembered or played a game called the next pain of of of of xboxes he ever put. My brother played that game. I did not. I was just wasn't tried. I wasn't good at it. And if i'm not good at my eventually just give up. Is it max payne a drew. Isn't max payne. There haven't seen a movie. Isn't there a movie you might. Max payne wasn't max paid a movie at one point. They made the movie off of the game. If i'm not mistaken the game okay. Okay and i think mark wahlberg was i think he played next time but yeah it was kinda like the similar story and yet he's you know he's just you know one of those guys real good with guns and you could like hit a button and it would go like in slow. Mo matrix was real popular in time. So you could dodge bullets and slow mo it was pretty cool just kind of reminiscent if this was back on like the the the x. box that was like black and green that came out on the playstation two. Yeah remember let me ask you this drew. Let me ask for a let you go. But how how. What's the best way to how often do you. How many hours a day do you play video games truth a week. Give me hour a day a week. The truth to be honest and truthful with you not on. I got a little older. I don't. I don't even really played. It all downloaded that That new spiderman game. And i got hooked on it but then once i once i beat it after after a few weeks i just kinda just kinda got also now usually just watch you know like streaming channels on there like netflix and stuff. That's mostly what i use my playstation for richie. I love it all right. We appreciate your thank. Thank you for a in and i. I think it's awesome. The level of. I mean it's amazing. Would you say if. I said forty percent of america plays video games. Would i be close. You'd probably be under honestly really. I would think it's closer to maybe sixty seventy because he got into the pilot were consistently right not has played that makes it a couple minimum. Let's say minimum of thirty to sixty minutes a day. Because i know they're addicting so five hours a week you'd say better than fifty percent of the country does that i mean i think i think a good chunk of it is just people my age. Who grew up on video games. You know when we were younger we were what ten twelve and it's we've just kept it in our lives to the point where it's probably going to be in my life for the rest of my life. It's always going to be a mind. But it's i i'm like drew. I have noticed. It's really been an last year and a half. I really don't play much anymore. Me relationships suffer when you guys are growing. Oh go ahead when the kids. What when the kids wanna play. I'll point them. But that's that's really been about it tyler when you've had a girlfriend or mc when you with your girl you're spending too much time do you get the stink eye and get get decide. I from did enough. If you've had both of you been the rated and when i say given a hard time in a serious art time pissed you're spending too much time playing video games now. I never really win like before. She was not working from home. I would play when she was at work so when she would get home i i would stop playing because i played enough. You know. i didn't need to play anymore so right. I've never been one that like. I don't wanna spend my time when we're together playing them. I will say during the pandemic tried to do that. Was playing the astros game every day. She responded that because she was sitting there. You know ten feet away from me as i'm playing and it's still talk and everything so i wouldn't bugging her right tyler. You whether you ever pissed a girl friend off. That's like you're still playing video games. Today's that ever bothered somebody. No and if it pisses him off. Won't they can go. Oh well it's amazing some. We'll keep video games in their life. I just i wondered.

"Had a handful of you contacting set. I miss when missing house. When i was on a call i had. I will start on monday. Eight to ten pm hosting into charles adams who does a great job phenomenal Big charles will. Follow me on monday through friday. Eight to ten. Pm ktar news. Talk nine fifty. Am and it'll be fair and fun and we'll have a good time. So that'll be monday. Through friday agreed to a deal to do that monday. Through friday looking forward to it'd be different different platform that fund and and fair and opinionated and be a lot of learning going on and i. hopefully. I'll be the one learned the most. So it'll be a great appreciate the opportunity from my boss' here all right. Let's take a stake. It's tyler by hayes. The trillo g bundy and this is solitaire on. The sean sows very show. Tyler's ted would he go. Biggest wayside is and here bt with his talent team for all right have atom man tall years all right question number one so we've been watching the nba playoffs. We've seen all the new rising stars. Come out one of those rising stars that did not anywhere near enough recognition was originally drafted was deondraye and he was taken number one overall by the sons back in twenty eighteen. Now that is the draft also included luca and trae young. Considering were the sons are right now. Did they make the right. Pick number one all. I i think that if you had to do it over the sons would tell you. They made the right. Tick i think the basketball world would say that. They may have taken somebody else but the andrei starting to flourish a lot of dunks. Twenty four points i. I don't know if i mean there will be some. who would. i think it's arguable. I don't know mc we'll get your opinion. But i think it's definitely arguable. He's working for them. But what we know. We may say who is the second ticket. That draft tyler. Do remember i. it's okay not a big deal. But i i would think that going up and down there i would think up until this playoff series and until this year most would say bagley. There you go well okay most would say right most would probably say well to be the first pick is eight lived up to maybe not but i think we're seeing strides and getting better and he's fit in. There's a lot of confidence and he eats breakfast to my son was telling me because my sons as you guys know chef phoenix suns and he has big breakfast. They wanna keep his weight up. You dig a lot of calories of which is awesome to keep in bulk up to keep that weight on. But he is. I think he started to elevate so alleviate some of the concerns but i think the suns are really happy but if we did it all over again. I'm not sure it'd be the first pick. I'm not sure be the second pick but mci what you think. But i think that the order may change a little bit. He's a he's a nice player. But i if you went back. You're definitely taking trae young or luca danni this theory. I brought this yesterday on twitter and makes me think about it to think about the center positionally. Now we're talking about because we're talking about mobile yesterday with the rockets And this is probably gonna keep me actually away from an there are so many guards in this game could change it in coming across coming across a guard in today's world. Nba that so position. Listen to matter so much like that. Is usc great at scoring is like a as a luca or like a trae young. You gotta take those guys when you can. You can find rim protectors and stuff on the free agent market. They found christian. Would i mean getting a big man. That's that's competent. Is is very much a doable thing. Where i do think in the in the deondraye eight and thing is is a great example of it. You don't take you don't have to take the center. I unless he is so out there in terms of his skill set and what he does and like mobile app. Just isn't i think light years ahead of everybody else. He doesn't have all those like he's a development like eight and kind of development for the sons and he still could get to great things. But i think a great example of you. Don't want if you can take a guard that you think's going to be just a franchise cornerstone you. Take the first two picks this drafts of the draft. Had if we did it over and that's the thing about revisionist history as we all go back so while i wouldn't have taken this guy if we did it over again. Donncha should be the first pick trae young second more than likely or if you wanted to flip flopping depending on what your needs were eight and would not be the first pick in this. Nba if he was coming out this year or we re did it but he starting to fit in that. It's a good way to put it. He's a nice player and he's elevated this year and he elevated in this game so i think the sons of like him. But when you're the first pick i think most of us expected to be your dominant no doubt star in the league. I don't consider him a star considering a good player. There's another level to be a star on the. There's two more levels for him to be a superstar so if it did it over again dodge would be trae young but for the sons. It's working out if they win an nba championship. They'll tell you a great pick. But i like the way he's elevated his play. Our question number two speaking of the sons chris. Paul is scheduled to come back for the sons tonight in game three walk. Hawaii is still out tonight for the clippers. Will the suns take a commanding three zero series lead in the western conference finals. It'll be difficult clippers of responded every single time or at least the last two series. They've been down to they head back to their building We think that they were going to be able to do with kawhi. Leonard against what. Utah and paul george. Elevate can't miss free throws you're going to be a superstar in this league and he did can't do that My gut tells me we just sit here on the surface. And i gotta go back actually talk about a little bit later today. I i would lean towards the clippers. Chris paul back is a huge help. I put it this way. I think the sons can still win an nba championship. If chris paul's not at full strength even though with him at full strength he's been one of the mvp guys this year now. Why was chris. Paul wasn't this is different series. Sons are better team. But since chris paul they could very easily role in there. I don't know what the spread is. But it can't be much hell some even say. The sons are favored in this game. Tonight in the at la but it will not shock me at the clippers. Win this game. They seem to respond when they are about to be buried. And i actually got a look long and hard at this in the next couple of hours and we get off the air to decide which way i'd go if i was bet. Miss game point spread wise. And if i was picking of course i'm pulling for the sons and that should be the advantage but it will not surprise me if the clippers at home. Elevate and and take this game. The i'm going to pick the sons tonight. And i think the i'd call them it now. Son sweep task alyssa. That will not bother me. One single frigging bit. That'd be awesome all right sports. Talk seven ninety. Were rolling our load. Let's roll one more in here tyler. If we can't yeah so real quick by the way the and just just tons minus one okay. Perfect on the road. Go ahead just tease this. And we'll come back and answer question number three. Think about this during the break i just mentioned trae young as he was a part of the two thousand draft and he went off again last night in game one of the eastern conference finals scoring forty eight. He's looking more and more confident with each and every shot he takes. He even put drew holiday on skates and hit the bucks with the shoulder shimmy before he knocked down a huge three. We all agree that he is a star in today's league. But.

luca yesterday Chris paul Leonard charles adams Paul friday paul george monday second ticket chris paul deondraye Twenty four points second pick forty eight nine fifty eight second twitter first pick

"Of how you feel about the sexuality lee. Thank you and i think there's regardless. I don't know the reason. Carl asks you make good point but isn't society filled with opportunistic. I y- situations in every walk of life. We're all looking for opportunity. I don't know the agenda carl. I hope it's he said he's donate money to help somebody else. And if that's the case fine but on the other side of it and you're this is the other side it would be difficult to cut him especially play decent. Football leagues played decent difficulty cutting because the backlash in this climate now whether he deserves to be cut it out. That'll depend on his play and that'll be dependent on people who are coaching evaluate to do it. But yeah he's in. There's no doubt cutting him would lead to more. Oh my gosh. How could they do this. The raiders are a homophobic organization. of course. that's that's part of this conversation but as the players go it started with this players go in a locker room publicly. They're they're not. I'm just telling you. Now i'm not gonna speak for the raiders in our locker room. It wouldn't have been a problem in the locker rooms. I was in now when they go home to their wives or their boyfriend or girlfriend. That's on them. I don't know how. But carl nasa not gonna walk in and had everybody cold-shouldered him when he walks in or he's going to be showering alone. most dudes. Don't think about that in a locker room setting in that now. They may when they go home. Say i'm not going to do that if that's the case i don't care if he's a good dude and lives right whatever that right is for him and he's making a difference to someone and he's not affecting me and and you know what maybe it'll open dialogue lee said and it is opening it but even in locker rooms for somebody who isn't tolerant becomes more tyler and if you're intolerant then that's going to become how you deal with it in a locker room. I don't think he's going to have a problem in the locker room is going to be harder to get rid of them. She's a bad player. Of course it is. Of course it is but now he's gotta go just take care of business. Be a good player but if he's got peace of mind i don't know why that bothers us and you can go from there and judge how you we'll come back here. John lee. Thank you brett your first up as well as the stakeout. Next will roll through quickly. Top of the hour starts tyler's ten. Yes indeed and by the way the astros. We'll get get everybody involved in I'll make me a little announcement at the top of the eight o'clock hour for you guys so tune. Welcome in how you doing. Hey hey good sounds great Great to be talking to you in great shape always and i think i played on bobby talk about because like you said people are so that these days there. It's almost like they're afraid of like different opinions. Hey do me a favor. Hey tyler put him on hold. Mc and see if he can call back. I don i. I wanna make sure we get his point without a break up if we could do that so Put him on. Hold a little bit just for a second if you get them back. I the differing opinion on certain subjects is baffling to me carl. Now we're going to affect your life to be honest. They really doesn't. I mean right sports. That's that's what i like to do whoever's on the field on the field and you know there's people that are on it that i probably wouldn't agree with their lifestyle or the things that they do and i'm not talking about him just like pat. There's bad people to play sports. Whatever i just. I watched the sports sports. That's that's the world that i live in my gut is mc there are things in your life or in our lives that far more than this correct. Yeah yeah i get more worried about. You know when they astros loose ball game or something that they shouldn't be doing. Or you know the texans having their issues that they're kind of like and maybe i should getting bothered by those things but that that's that's been my existence. Yes there you go at carl. Nasa will face some fans who spew ugly stuff at him. I'll tell you something to show to the happen at my high school this past couple of days with coronado it's become viral national story and how people deal with it. It's it's it's it's heinous awful and the race still race issues still exist and there's some horrible people. There's going to be horrible people. It doesn't seem to me. That carl nasa being gay makes him a horrible person by any stretch of the imagination. It shouldn't i mean how you think is up to you brett. What's up got you back. Yes sir i'm back. I do apologize for that problem. Pryatta radio i just wanted to make the point that You know. I just learned that everything goes better in our life. If we respect one another you regardless of where we are you know. Have people have worked with Friends family that that all are in the same boat. That that this that this that this nfl players in. And i've never to anybody any differently. And what. I what. I've noticed worried is people that have the hardest time with your different opinion on different opinion. "With the astros team or individual this year. Good or bad Team standpoint i. It's it's how much they how much they control the strike zone. I don't we give brent strom kind of loan for what he does with the astros pitchers and deservedly so without trying. It's done with the interest in terms of developing a plan and getting everybody to be on the same page. I mean the way you lee has has gone from being a free swinger to control zone of carlos. correa has done you know last. Two months with You know.

"Wins by the time they get to the all star break right and of the seventy four games. I i honestly believe unless i unless i dreamt up submit. It feels like there's a lot of different lineups. I thought. I read somewhere. And i'd love to give credit whoever did it and set it but i think that they've had damn near fifty five sixty different batting order this year. And maybe that maybe that's normal but it doesn't seem normal for a good team but i a injuries and boom people around and they're big on a day arrest and and but they've done a hell of a job with it so it's a tribute to them to be able to look around and say well it's not going to an office of line and every third game there's different dude plan right but that dude steps his game up because he played right guard one week three weeks later. He's sitting on a bench because you hurt his ankle. Then he's playing left tackle the next week and they keep it and that's a good thing and it's a it's a really good thing and so phenomenal baseball that the astros are playing. You can find. What i've found is that they've used fifty six dollars. I thought i'll close to sixty so i didn't. I wasn't wrong when i read it night. Whoever said it read it. And i knows an astros fan because they branded. I don't know if it was somebody local. Maybe it was michael schwab. Maybe it was. Mike great stuff but i was reading it that thought yesterday and said that many different lineups for this team normally don't maybe it just feels like i don't see that on good teams on a regular basis. But you've got to be able to move things around. So that's impressive. Seventy four games in forty-six twenty eight. Another game gained on the oakland a.'s. And it was an impressive win. I have now. We're getting to the point. Did you can almost be selfish. Nitpicking over what's wrong is like we're winning. But and i think you have to if you're a player. Excuse me this is when you must do that manager. Yes as i've said when things are going good you can criticize a little more with things are going bad. You hug him. Put your arm around him a little more but as a player yourself scouting yourself valuation. This is the time you do this this time you do this. You hit a ball. You hit a single that you hit the bloop to right field and this is when you got to base it you got critique yourself you take the hit but why you missed it or man was. It's like when a quarterback makes a throw in its catch but it's on his back shoulders opposed to his children. Receiver helped him out. Still looks like completion. You gotta grind on well. Why wasn't it on his front shoulder. Why was it on his back shoulder. The front shoulders a touchdown the back shoulders are a tackle here. Man if i'd had just in a weather's got the fat part of the bat on my hands through kept my weight back kept my front shoulder and drove the ball to right center for double all those things you have to self critique when you're playing this well wilko's that keeps you in games. It would been so easy after two wins against the baltimore orioles to sit back and say come on man when we make it. Adjustment asking chaz back. In abraham toro's and cal tucker's government thirteen runs later. It would have been easy to get a little okay so we made. We made an air. No big deal. We still one. That's a losers lament. It is though the winner says he got two hits. But i could hit the ball i had. I gave me a pitch. And i missed it. That's your even though it's small and minored us. You do have to do it. In order to all the great players. I've watched and sat next to and listen to when things are going. Great critique the live in hell outta themselves. we'll discuss that and how important it is and the great ones do and got two hits yesterday but should have been four. That doesn't mean you browbeat yourself. But you're always grinding without grinding. Too much and beating yourself down to. If you're hitting three ten you want to hit three twelve. Not because individually it makes you. It looks better for us. But because those couple percentage points made me in a difference in a winner to along the way so nice job by guys coming up. We've seen abraham terrell deliver we've seen chas mccormick the well the guys that are on a regular everyday based cell too vague brantley. Ray those guys cats just continue to play and pitching continues to stay strong. Starting pitching this is a this is pretty phenomenal to watch sports. Talk seven hundred coming right back. Don't go anywhere we tyler's ten at eight o'clock go around all these sports farm. We'll discuss the nba playoffs a little bit The draft again and where they are. And i slept on it. And i woke up and i think man i like mobely but i've said that the way people keep talking about it and haven't seen as much tried to back off. We'll talk about that. And i don't know guys. I don't know where trae young comes in your mind but if if you didn't have him as a superstar we we better start to maybe reevaluate. That discuss phenomenal.

"Not, I don't know, but I just, I was surprised how positive reaction was and and pleasantly surprised and very happy. I remember when Michael Sam came out a couple of years ago before the NFL draft and the response was different, there was way more hate. There was way more people going, you know, was just going to be a bad thing, all the stuff and he was a seventh-round pick who Frank, the Michael Saint wasn't that great of a football player and then he came out as gay and when he didn't make the team, he didn't make the Rams roster. I wondered like wage because Michael Sam. It's a bad football player or because he's gay. And what another player who is maybe the same Talent level, he wasn't gay, get more of an opportunity because it wouldn't be viewed. As a distraction to just Michael Jackson was handled very differently than Carl Nassib was and that was another moment of encouragement were like, okay, hey, We are a different place in society, even like it was only like five years ago, six years, something like that. We have come made progress and that's very cool. And Carl Nassib is different. He's established NFL player, he's been a league for five years. I mean it he's a guy who is secure in his job and he was on Hard Knocks and it's a great clip of him when he played for the Cleveland Browns, explaining a compound compound, an interest in finances, and it's it's, it's likeable. It's really cool and fun moment. And he's already been very much embraced by the NFL. And the NFL also matched his donation and donated $100,000 themselves to the Trevor Project and I guess, another thing I probably should have said this immediately. I'm so happy for Carl, like, for him to be able to be himself. And be honest about that and I don't know if he was hiding or not, but I'm sure he was. I mean to have to hide who you are and not get to just shout it from the root. Rooftops is probably It's brutal and I just I'm.

"Again, at higher level of football, people don't care who you sleep with. It's just not it's like can you your job or a good football player? Are you lining up in the right spot? Are you making tackles when you're required to? That's most important to guys in the NFL. So I just on the field. Doesn't matter but off-the-field socially it's a very complicated topic. Religion is involved and some people have never been around guys that they know of em that are gay. So there's a lack of exposure and you know I just they they don't have a lot of experience around gay people, you know, lesbian straight, whatever transgender and I don't want to sound preachy. I hate when people on talk shows, talk down to me and try to impose their beliefs on what I believe. And so I want to be clear, you can believe whatever you want and I hope that you while I'm allowing other people to have their own Viewpoint. You also allow people that Carl Nassib to be who he is and not tear him down. Not tell him what he should do or how we should live his life. Cuz I just thought in my heart is acceptance and openness and and kindness. And I want to clear, everybody is welcome to listen to my show and be involved. But also, I don't understand if there's anybody out there who Has a problem with Carl Nassib being gay. I got to say, I don't understand why, because people can be different and I don't understand how long you're a football fan, Carl Nassib being gay, could possibly impact your life negatively or positively doesn't his personal life doesn't affect you. And I have friends who are gay and honestly, I don't care at all. I know that my friends being gay, doesn't affect my life. They're they're, they're normal people who love sports and movies and video games and good food. And I I I've got lots of friends, you know, my friend Arthur is married and has this beautiful marriage better than most straight people. I know probably it might be the best relationship. A role model of a good relationship in my life. Is my friend, Arthur. And I don't understand why anybody would try to deny Arthur's happiness. I just never understand this desire to control other people and birth control the way other people live their lives. It's okay for people to be different than you and okay for people to have different viewpoints than you. I just would encourage people to let other people be themselves. I don't care who other page sleep with or who they love. It's not doesn't impact my life and I just, I go back to Arthur. I can never get over that, cuz Arthur so sweet. And it's husband is amazing and they're so kind. And it's like, oh, how could anybody deny this or feel? Like this is bad somehow now, I just encourage you let other people be other people. And I know some people will hear me talking now and their religion, compels them to argue with me. And I went to a religious College. I took classes, I had three Bibles for my from a different classic says. You need a different texts for different classes. I grew up in the church. I I know all the stories. I read the Bible of town and I I'm at the point in my life, where if God is real dead, If God is real, I believe in a kind creative loving God..

"Too much You love the game too much to care about this identity politics crap. So Carl Nassib, who lives in Westchester, really hopes and longs for the day that the country will be tolerant, and it won't be such a big deal when guys like him come out. Oh, I think we're largely there. It's the problem is folks. It's not that Carl Nassib is gay. It's not that there's going to be trouble accepting Carl Nassib because he's gay. There is real bigotry out there against Carl Nassib. Now. I don't know if you know or heard about this said yesterday. I know you might be thinking stick all. Why are you talking about this for a second day More happened. Didn't you hear? You see, I I work about 300 more jobs after this show, and I had some friends at another radio station tipped me off to something yesterday, and it delighted me. I giggled like a small school boy when I got the news Friend of mine calls me and he says you're not going to believe what a gay friend of mine has just posted on his social media. I said, Oh, do tell about Carl Nassib. You hear this? He said. My Gay friend. Just posted an O. About Carl Nassib. He was celebrating Carl Nassib coming out as the first openly gay NFL player earlier in the day. Oh, he was so excited. So happy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. What a big victory. But Oh, Something from Carl Nassib says past Has come up. And the lefties out there all the left wingers, the radical cook wackos who were wrapped up in identity politics were suddenly crestfallen. They were throwing a gay pride parade for Carl Nassib until they found out Carl Nassib. Is possibly a Republican. I love women. I know it's not okay. And he was in a photo. With Trump supporters. Yes. Have you? You haven't seen it. Oh, you have to go to my Facebook page or my instagram account. Today. I tweeted it out to yesterday. You have to go see the photo. He's wearing an American flag on his head, folks. And he's got a friend in the photo, who he's standing next to. He's giving a thumbs up in the fun and smiling broadly, his friend on his shirt. Is a picture of Trump. And it says legends are born in June. I love women, okay? Folks. Carl Nassib may be gay. But there is one thing the American left will not tolerate in all their tolerance, and that is an openly gay trump supporter. Home to your mom. Darling, go home..

Joy Behar Tells "Inappropriate" Joke About Gay NFL Player Carl Nassib

"Well, the most quote unquote woke person on that panel is Joy Behar, right? Professional victim, Joy Behar, and she was talking about the story that there's an NFL player. That announced yesterday that he is gay Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib. He announced that he was gay, and he becomes the first active NFL player. To come out as gay. A couple other guys have came out after their careers. And if you remember Michael Sam never made the the opening day roster, so he was never on an active roster. Really? So the Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib is this guy that's been in the league comes out on. Social media says that he's gay. So Joy Behar Says this today. Las Vegas. Okay, spread, you know, Anna and after after they said, penetration in the end zone, they lost me. So funny. Is this a sign that this A little awkward pause there at the end. Wow, She's yucking it up, makes the penetration joke because the guy comes out as gay whatever. It's a cheap shot. But again, I'm looking for some consistency. Imagine what would happened if that were Laura Ingraham that said that or that were Dana Perino That said that There would be people in all these networks demanding they be fired all the advertisers demanding that they pull their money from this kind of stuff, But because it's the left, and there are different rules for the left. Joy Behar just gets a little chuckle, and nothing's going

"Host. Who happens to be right. And i think he just made that easier for some high school football player in the middle of the country. Who's gay and it was wondering. Well i can't play in the nfl. And if i've got a lie about it maybe now you don't and how let me let me add this as as you know we'll make fun of this. I'm a raiders fan. We have an image of renegade. Tough guy weird. The fact that he's doing this as a raider is incredibly cool. Because it'd be one team you would pick that you would think would be the hardest to accept it and you watch what happens now. I know raider fans really well. Raider fans don't care about anything except winning million fans are going to just put their arms around this guy. Go carl the first time. He has an interception. They're going to go crazy. Yeah raider fans like al davis used to have this as a saint. Just win baby. Yup raider fans would take an alien if the guy had four one at forty speed absolutely and so the fact that he's doing it with for lack of a better term the team that has the most renegade macho image. Is that significant. Yeah i think that that's a really cool part of this story. I just checked out out. Sports which is part espy nation. Our friends ziglar is the publisher of that the the lead writer on that he has a A headline and their slogan is courage is courageous. I'm sorry courage is contagious. Courage is contagious. And you wonder if carl nassib can do it with the raiders is there. Are there other players who now feel that. They've got the cover to be able to do it right. Let me read this reaction from our friend. L z granderson. Who will be on right after us at the top of the hour just tweeted. I was getting a quick workout in before my radio show. I reach for my phone to change songs and saw this news. I just stop crying after fifteen minutes. L. sees the best athlete of all of us. The talk on the radio here. He's the guy that that you know. If we had a superstars competition he would win it in a runaway and i would imagine l. z. Like you will be very happy and bordering on emotional. He gets on the air at four o'clock i boy. I literally have chills. Yeah i love horror just in case because people tune in and out all the time. Play his statement again. And i love the casual nature by which he drops the bomb and how he explains it again if you're just joining us. Here's carl nassib. A raiders defensive in in the middle of twenty five million dollar contract. He's twenty eight years old making sports all people. I'm carl massive my house here in west chester pennsylvania. Just want to tell you a quick to say that i'm gay. I've been.

"I've been meaning to do this for a while. Now but i finally feel comfortable enough to get it off my chest I really have the best life. I got the best family friends and job. A guy could ask for Pretty private person so hope you guys know that i'm really not doing this for attention I just think that representation visibility are so important I actually hope that one day videos like this and the whole coming out process are just not necessary But until then you know. I'm going to do my best and do my part to cultivate a culture accepting that's compassionate and i'm gonna start by donating one hundred thousand dollars to the trevor project their incredible organization. They're the number one suicide prevention service for lgbtq in america and they're truly doing incredible things. And i'm very excited to be part of it. Help in any way that i can and i'm really policy with the future holds That's all i have for you guys. Hope you have a great day work hard. We have officially gotten our first gay professional athlete in north america and the major four sports in the four major sports. It is a i mean for me. This is a landmark day. We've i've known for a long time that there are professional athletes who are gay. Who keep that secret or come out after their playing days are over. Here's a guy who you know. He's not he's not the greatest player in the world but he did have two and a half sacks last year for the raiders. This is a big deal him. Coming up it's a huge deal and let me make one minor correction to what you said. Jason collins did come out when was an active player but yet and i'm friends with jason. The end of his career is when jason came out when he had one year left and he played his final year in brooklyn and i thought that was very bold. Move by him. But this is not that. You mentioned that carl nasa is twenty eight years old in march of twenty twenty. He signed a three year. Twenty five million. Dollar contract with the raiders. So may tease right in the middle of a three year. Twenty five million dollar deal. He had one of his best seasons last year. Had his first career interception. You and i have always wondered when someone would have for lack of a better term that guts to come out when they were in the prime of their career. That has never happened until right now. And i i've always felt and you know it's probably more importantly you think because kind living it. But i've always felt that whoever did this and i'm basing this on the reaction to you and you came out is going to find it a very positive experience. I think that the country and the world is ready to say all right. This is a chance to be more accepting more kind. And it's a chance for people to come together. I think carl nassib just put himself in history books. I i mean it takes. And i'm not i don't take a lot. I don't take a lot of credit for. Because i came out when i was fifty two or fifty or something like that and my career was well established. This is a guy who is in the prime of his career. Who's right in the middle of it. And he has made this announcement. And i think he will be viewed historically as a hero and i honestly believe that short-term he will receive that same reaction from people. It will be a huge embrace because we now live in a culture that has embraced the lgbt community. And now we have our first representative from the four north american sports. At least a guy in his prime. Jason did at first. But this is this is significant. This is very significant. And now there's going to be a whole debate. Oh what's gonna happen on the team. What's going to happen in the latter. Let me tell you something that. Probably the teammates that he is closest to he already told. Of course they already know right. he's just and this is the way to do it. I love the way he did it to. He didn't call a press conference. It was basically instagram post. Ps i'm gay. And i'm giving you a one hundred grand of the trevor project which addresses people that by the way. I've never asked you this before right. Were you ever suicidal. I never was. But i always felt like when i was at bowling green and then the early days of my career and i was closeted. I always felt like my life was a house of cards and could come tumbling down at any moment. And i lived with a sense of dread until i was about twenty eight years old. Nobody knew parents friends. Nobody knew i find it. Incredibly empowering that nasa just basically talked to every gay teenager that plays football with that statement and he went. Look i'm going to soften the ground. So he says it in his statement. I'm going to soften the ground. So when the next carl nasa comes along and ten years. He's not even going to have to do an instagram. Post it's just not gonna be you know it's it's just going to be a part of the person's i and this is something you've always taught me that you never wanted to be gay sports radio host or you wanted to wanted it to be a part of your identity. Sports.
