"Year we can't seem to hire enough police were another another negative loss for the year fifteen these officers although that's not as bad as previous years and you the report that came out skating report from the Baltimore police union the other day saying that we need actually eight hundred fifty officers not to hurt a lot of again when we don't respond to one thousand dollars on feel good marketing campaigns you know be a part of the brain is come back in in the you know again how many officers with that are by the way three four you know somewhere in that area sort of wasting money on feel good marketing campaigns hire more cops but you know there is war portent things you know how your Baltimore is got a lead poisoning problem and by that I mean people being shot by getting hit with a ton of lived over the course of the year our approaching thriller homicides again of this year and will be doing in the mayor's office and the city council they're having an argument over plastic bags right the battle of the bags a young and city council president ran it's god in favor of a ban on all plastic bags the ball more stores not the partial ban but by the city council committee this week the mayor said quote I support a ban because it ends up in our trees and in our harbor I support a ban all plastic bags the Brenda's got also said he feels the same way the city council the voted earlier this week to amend the bill that would ban only bags that were less than two point two five milliliters thick other thicker plastic bags we're told are reusable but here here's what we're arguing about everything and then again does it really surprise you that we have the mayor and the city council president are consumed about this battle over plastic bags and they also could apparently show up at a fox forty five town hall meeting of the other night now there's a great debater dispute as to why that happened but the no they're nationally committed and then they they committed so I need to talk about issues that a board for folks in the city they can't show for town halls they can't they're arguing over plastic bags we have bodies dropping left and right car carjackings of thirty percent and again it does not matter really who is in leadership positions in the Baltimore city as long as it's the same ideology of the same approach you're gonna get the same result I have a question and I'm not really sure what the answer is right now but the police officer ball of Baltimore city are they required to live in Baltimore city in other words if you're an applicant do you do you have to reside in Baltimore city I'm not sure I could have the look that up I'm hoping that it's not of because let's face it the the pool that's available to the police department seems to be diminishing as the population number decreases it cetera so you're not going to be able to necessarily get all your recruits from Baltimore city I think the outskirts I do believe it is a requirement now didn't used to be I thought I read was in the last couple years that the right now I don't know if it was I know it's so that you know if you if you work in the city as in a city employee I don't think you have to be a a resident but I do believe that there used to be I mean if you held the responsible positions in Baltimore city I'm not talk about police department now you had to reside in Baltimore city now they made an exception years ago to Charlie batten who was like the finance finance director in Baltimore and he lived outs wait outside the city but I don't know about the police department by that the look that up they are they with there's a police officer or somebody that knows that can give us a call give us call us know for ten W. CBM six eighty one eight hundred W. C. B. M. six AB and this is attacked him from Carl Glen Burnie uses a good morning guys when you punish the cops and not the criminals Baltimore is what happens no matter what they try if they arrest more blacks in black neighborhoods it will be considered racist and then they will stop and this is part of the consent decree problem but that we have talked about in the past there's an anonymous email this morning says the problem in hiring police officers in Baltimore city is that there are not enough qualified minority applicants to meet the department's diversity goals this is why only three percent of applicants have been hired it seems to me that right now it's all hands on deck you gotta throw diversity and all other nonsense right out the window now you'd like to have it you you want to be an equal opportunity employer but if you're only getting a certain amount of applicant in here that that meets the you get a good look their physical demands of the job again you have to have a brain gonna be somewhat smart and in order to be a police officer in fact you probably have to be smarter than a lot of jobs but the fact is all itself has to be factored in here and and the more that you put filters on Friday you've we raise a good point if it is a requirement you must live in the city then yeah that's going to limit the the applicant pool learn there's no question about that and it again I go back to if you are an aspiring young man or woman that wants to get into law enforcement and you had your choice basically of Howard to Baltimore county of you know and I run out of rubble county or Baltimore city EQ you look at what the with the pay scale is in each of those but it also take into consideration those the local government to the local politicians in those respective subdivisions have your back and I think Baltimore city has been building up a refutation that the city does not have the police officers back they don't support them what do you think that the Paul police union has been fighting openly now against the police commissioner and and and and and the mayor I mean what what they each one that what they accused with the police union accuse the police department of yesterday didn't get a lot of eighteen or a lot of play but it it's really serious when the police union says that its police department mismanaged part and and that I I just the top okay offering it's it's you know it's it's it's a push back from America that you're reporting the news of the matter is you know again the one with the Mercer again the mayor said that not the the union his response to the union was that the union should read the full police commissioners crime fighting planned instead of wasting ink on a criticizing the department more management does anybody really think of Mike man because the the present of a full P. large three didn't read it does anybody really believe that he didn't read that I'm sorry I don't believe for one second I think you probably read it probably four five times and probably said well wait a minute we seen this before yep that looks familiar with don that the been there done that there's nothing new in Michael Harrison's crime fighting a plan I've talked to former state trooper talk to city council of talked a couple **** cops about the planet with both we've got all this stuff before I think a lot of it has to do with the reputation that Baltimore city has gotten as far as the support of the police department and you know the the and then the consent decree doesn't help matters either around five forty form sixteen before.
