And when we get back in a few minutes with Carl, we will be talking about. Schools and parents and what they want. Yeah, the GOP has been pushing their parents Bill of rights. That's their hot topic right now about controlling what kids are taught in schools. Right. Yeah, I mean, it's parents can always parent teacher conferences. That's when you go and you find out what your kids are learning. So if you're not, if you haven't been doing those with the teachers over the past forever, then you're not doing your job as a parent either. Correct. Sorry, you're just not. It's a partnership. It is a partnership, very much so. It's 29 minutes after the hour we will be back with Carl frisch on the Stephanie Miller ship. You are listening to 8 20. Here's the latest Chicago weather update. "At ordering at McDonald's, which is what qualifies him to be president. That presidential point of order? Yes. Prosecutors aren't going after him because they don't want him to be president. Prosecutors are going after him because he broke the law. No, no, no, Chris. It's because he's a big. That likes fried food. And that's why they're going after him because he's a real American like that. Okay, hey, hey, hey, look, speaking of real Americans, looking here. Carl. Pearl freak. Let's talk to our fancy fairfax county school board. Hi, oh, good morning, Carl frisch. Good morning. Talk about a crappy meal. Yeah. I will note that I did text Travis and Chris to make sure I could say that I'm on air. Yes, because I care. I'm sorry about being blue. Thank you. That was perfect. I guess Tucker didn't get the memo that was very dear leader. That was because treat yourself. He got the memo. You know, he saw that his text messages had been made public. And he decided he was supersized that meal. Yeah. I mean, but we were saying, I don't know whether it's just 'cause they're off the Trump train or it's the dominion lawsuit, but oh my God, you know, they're actually reported that it was the Trump administration that rolled back the trail safety and safety regulations. As I said earlier, was talking about how, you know, Trump didn't go to any train derailments, even the fatal ones in his administration. So I journalism has broke out power on Fox. Your thoughts? Well, I think it has more to do with them trying to play the Ohio primary against desantis with Trump than it does anything else. And also this is not seeping through every level of the network. So until we see his sycophants in prime time turning on him, you know, making him the Karen at the counter of a McDonald's. I don't see anything changing. Chris, who

If you were to you do not give a birth control department to test dating someone? No. No, no, no, no. No, no, no, not in LA. So if things go awry. Right. I don't know why. You would base that on. Well, I know plenty people. You do not give up your rent control apartments. Because you meet someone to move in with them. No, you do not. That's worth holding onto. Yes. At least for 6 months. Okay. Wow. Oh, by the way, Joe Walsh reminds us just a reminder, Sarah Huckabee admitted under oath that she lied when she was Trump's press secretary. So just keep that in mind. And she says, I don't know, you know, anything. Okay, we have doctor redlin her today. We have Dana Goldberg. We have Carl frisch and we have future senator Adam Schiff. Yes. Yes. On this very show. That's exciting. Yeah. We've done. Do you think he'll still come on when he senator? Probably not. He'll lose our number. You know what? Our ratio of representatives to senators. John Kerry, but only when he was running for president. Yeah. Yeah. Well, yeah. You still love us, still. What other senator Barbara boxes? He kept his apartment. All right. Well, I assume he has. He's still the congressman from our district here. I'm assuming he still has a house here. Yeah. Okay. V dot has known the tower, it needed to be moved for it well over a year now, but AT&T and TiVo mobile can't agree with V dot on a new location. "We could probably make them believe that get my Wiz Mar-a-Lago and just send them all there. Yeah. And this is true in just in case it barbed wire and let it just let it sit in the Miami in the summer Florida summer sun. But you know, it's enough right. It's great that coy Griffin got removed. Why he was convicted. But stop slapping their rift. Kim, this is seditious conspiracy. This is espionage. And I believe there's a debt they may be that they're going to release some of the videos in the next couple of days that show who was marching around tomorrow Lago in and out of these areas, these unsecured areas. And that could be surprised that if Trump was a pay to play on that, like he probably took donations from his top guess at Mar-a-Lago to go in and look at these things. We know that they would pay a $1000 just to see a top secret document. I wouldn't put it past him either. I completely agree with you on that. Yeah, he has sold, I mean, our national security is a major, major risk because of this man. One person, the damage that he did in one term is mind boggling to me. And like Carl frisch said earlier, it's not waiting for the other shoes to drop. It's waiting for the trunks of luggage to drop anymore. Yeah, and I also, I mean, the damage she's done, but I tell you what, all of these Republicans, they're doubling down. I still have a conspiracy theory that there is one of those boxes that was taken. That has all of the dirt that they got when the RNC was hacked. In 2016 and they're terrified that those secrets are now in the hands of the FBI. There's no other reason for these guys to be doing this again and again when his clearly he's clearly turned his back on this country and everything that they supposedly believe in. No, I agree. I think that a lot of the stuff that he had was the compromise that he has on your Lindsey Graham and your Ted Cruz's and all of that. And they got it, you know, Russia gave it to him. Yep. The DNC and the RNC. And it's funny because, I mean, he has it all, but what he's going to do blackmail Democrats? No, because they're not looking as boots. No. Well, and the DNC stuff was dumped. We already know it was in those emails. So there's nothing to hold. And they weren't that bad. Really? Well, because in general, Democrats aren't doing the horrifying things that that Republicans are even behind closed doors. Absolutely, absolutely So speaking of horrible people, Doctor Oz, well done, well done. Yeah. Segways are me. He says incest is not a big problem. No. His daughter still want to sleep with him because the way he smells. Smells like what? Yeah. Angela Ye, this is back in 2014. He answered a listener's question about hearing on an ancestor's relationship and this person apparently kept quote smashing his cousin. I mean, who doesn't love a good cousin smashing in the south? You know what I mean? That's like a Tuesday, isn't it? Right. And this person said, no matter how much I want to stop, I always give it to her. The old college try. Wow. And he says, help me, what advice would you give? And so as said, if you're more than a first cousin away, it's not a big problem. He said, okay, second cousin is fine to smash. Then another host says, ha ha, you know it's so funny, 'cause I knew that, then DJ envy, I love all these things. How did you know that Charlemagne says, because I'm from the country, third cousins, it's all good. And I said, yeah, it's fine. Why is doctor odds using a word like smash? That Oz wasn't. It was the listener. Oh, okay, got it. Doctor Oz knows he's running for Senate in Pennsylvania not West Virginia, right? Yeah. Although they are down right next to each other. This did come from 2014. This is an old interview that just resurfaced. He says he said this is so weird. He said, always went on with a basic explainer about how most people quote naturally crave people who are not so like us for the sake of maintaining genetic diversity. If I had one gene for, let's say hemophilia, I don't want to marry a cousin who has it for obvious reasons. Because ew. He goes, that's why children, girls, don't like their fathers smell. They're pheromones will actually repel their daughters because they're not supposed to be together. My daughters hate my smell. I think he should shower. Yeah, I don't know if that necessarily has to do with his pheromones. I don't think so. And then you said maybe you just smell and he said, well, my wife likes my smell. Oh God. If you have not thrown up at home, congratulations. You have more willpower than that. You weren't eating a bowl of cereal with water on it. Yeah. Yeah. Yes, I have my second negative test this morning. And then I'll be ten days out from my last positive test on Sunday, so if I'm negative again, then I'm out of the Woods. Yes, and then you'll be here on Monday. Yes. I can reenter society slowly. Yes. Tentatively, like a puppy first testing snow. You know, like, what's that? Are you looking forward to being back out in the world? I literally have not left this house in two weeks. Yeah. I've been in the backyard and that's about it. I have not left this little area of mine just because I don't want to get anybody sick just in case, you know, and then Lonnie, this morning, you don't have to wear a mask around me. I said, you said that a week ago, and then I tested positive. So we're waiting. Right. Until I'm negative for sure. We've made it this far. Don't mess it up now. Yeah, don't mess it up. He's hopefully going to get his booster, the pharmacy nearest doesn't have it yet. So as soon as they get it, he's going to go get his. And my mom and her husband got their boosters yesterday. I have my appointment on Wednesday of next week. I've got appointment scheduled for Saturday one month and president of visiting my mom. And according to the seat, I just read CDC guidelines on it. I have to wait 90 days. Can I wait 82 days? Do I have to wait the full 90? And is it 90 days for my first positive test or 90 days for my second positive test? You don't want to mess this one up. Go through what the CDC says. Or you can go like Chris and lying. Yeah. Or like Stephanie and lie about your age. Well, I mean, I wouldn't do it say it's after 60 days because obviously there's a reason for the 90 days, but really couldn't I do it at like 85 days. Yeah, you know, right there, right when you run up here, 'cause then you'll explode. There are reasons why we have exploding. I understand, but it's like, the question is, is it the positive test that I had on August 23rd from that point on or is it from my positive last week? Positive test last week. Isn't it the same though? Or positive test from this one coming up. Your first positive test after testing negative. Well, that's what I mean. That was last Thursday. My first positive test was August 23rd. So if it's August 23rd, then I can have it like November 23rd. She wants to backdate it to her original positive test. You can't do that. That's cheating. It has to call it tomorrow. I will not tell anyone about this if you go get that vaccine a few days early. I will not tell anyone. You know, your secret is safe with us, right guys. "At CI security clearance. And implicit emission of a top level class. Maybe we shouldn't have put that part in. Okay, I don't. I'm not even gonna have. I don't even have Jodi's law in order to agree. And I'm just like, what? Oh, that didn't seem right. Legal experts stunned Wednesday when Trump took to his true social website and essentially admitted his guilt hours before his lawyers had a deadline to respond to the bombshell latent idea of Jay filing. Oh, it was George Conway that said it was like Trump asked to be slapped in the face. Yeah. DoJ did. That's what Joyce Vance was telling me, right? It's because of this stupid special master thing. That opened the door for the team of J to file this. I don't. Apparently, his lawyer is working on rake factory. Yes. Yes. Here's just walking around getting hit in the face. Yes. With Trump branded rakes. Rank company a great company incorporated. Can we help you? Rake and Reagan sons hello. Did they just open their offices up in four seasons? I question was the photo taken by FBI agents showing documents with classification markings on cover sheets. The folders were raided by agents of at Mar-a-Lago after being removed from what the filing indicated was mister Trump's office. They were not discovered scattered on the floor, according to two federal law enforcement officials The New York Times reported files of the documents are not tossed around randomly, even though they might appear that way, they are usually splayed out so they can be separately identified by their markings. The rulers seen in the image is to give a sense of their size and relation to other sense of scale. Right. How much money Trump has a drawing of Stonehenge on a cocktail napkin somewhere at Mar-a-Lago. Are you going back to our Rob Reiner film? Yeah. Or something where maybe there's something nuclear. In cotton in the const, that we're not supposed to know about and Trump, okay. That's true. Okay, thank you. Thank you. But you kind of dropped it. You dropped that one. Inside a place Wisconsin. Let's move on. The newspaper reported the genesis of the photograph appears to be in keeping with standard protocols for how federal agents and evidence they come across to the search. Oh my God, this is the dumbest crime drama ever, right? Like that's what they always do in crime scenes. Here's the evidence you can see it and then they take a okay. Do they have like chalk outlines of little tiny fingers? No. Am I going too long already? Yeah. Okay, well I got a lot more. I got a lot more climbers to get to. "Union market is apologizing for a newsletter with a subject line that raised some eyebrows. The title of the newsletter was me love you oolong time. It's a take on a line from the 1987 film full metal jacket, spoken by a Vietnamese sex worker. Today it's often used to diminish or fetishize Asian women. Moon rabbit executive chef, Kevin Tian says a colleague showed the newsletter to him and others, and they sent emails to Eden's requesting an apology. When we provide special education services, that is an example of equity in action. When we offer advanced academics for students who need something a little more, that is an example of equity in action. Draft policy is expected to be shared with the board once the school year begins. Virginia's community colleges will keep tuition costs flat for the 5th straight year. "Away Why even show up and vote I'm telling you we have made progress And David hogg if you follow his threat today on Twitter he is saying the same thing We have come so far since sandy hook and Parkland We have a gun safety majority in the House of Representatives Everything that we need to protect Americans we've passed in the House We're now a few centers short So the response should not be I'm not going to show up I'm not going to engage in November through response should be we're on the goal line Let's make the push to get a gun safety majority in the United States Senate A lot of Val demings in Florida for starters That would go a long way We can do this We're almost there I don't want anyone to give up because we need everyone to protect our kids Thank you Oh my God I believe it was senator whitehouse said to joy Reid yesterday because you know we were saying like imagine what we could do with ten 11 more senators He's like we only really need four more Four or 5 more Yeah I mean there's different Republicans who can get on board for this Yes yes Sadia tweets we never took away your guns but your guns took away our children Yeah That should be a rallying cry for these midterms We are still not feeling jingly good morning Carl frisch Um I just boy today's show we have doctor redland or pediatrician we have a Fred Gutenberg Parkland dad and of course Carl frisch who was on the school board there in Virginia and it's well we all are childless here so I just I can't imagine dealing with actual children now And what you say Eric swalwell said yesterday Carl he finds himself having to lie to his kids About being safe in school Because what else are you going to say No you shouldn't be scared Go to school scared right Well I think people need to talk to their school boards You know the conversation has been monopolized by folks for the last two years People can go to their school boards and ask what they're doing Here in fairfax county we are notifying parents every year about their obligations under the law in Virginia to keep guns securely stored The reason for that is that 70% of school shootings and other mass shootings happen with guns that are from the home And so that's one place to start You start thinking about what can local governments do what who can do what when Congress isn't acting because of Republican calcitrans So parents need to be notified about their obligations under various state laws to securely store their firearms They need to be told or provided resources That help them have the conversation about guns It is not an easy conversation for parents to have But they can have it And you know when a kid goes over to play at a friend's house the parents should be asking Tell us about your gun storage if you have guns We'll tell you what our gut storage we need to stop there are things we can do right now And it isn't enough but it's something So there are things we can do right now Again thank you for saying Republicans because you have to identify the problem before you can solve it Rachel bitter coffer said if you want to help me out every time you see a post bitching about Congress not doing anything about guns hop in there with a Republicans in Congress Eric Schultz tweeted this is one of the biggest impediments to progress Republican Republicans figured out they can act with impunity because the media will always blame both sides David shore said now might be a good moment to ask the news media Be careful about referring to Congress in action as distinct from Republicans refusal to enact any form of gun safety measures I mean vote every single one of them out That's on the line right Yeah I mean we've been talking about this for weeks now The looming Supreme Court decision By the way this is a court that is repeatedly made it easier for people to get these weapons of war So you know go to your school boards and talk to your school boards about what they're doing to keep kids safe Talk to your members of Congress If you live in a Republican area ask them why they are standing in the way Jerry Connelly my congressman and I was at a vigil yesterday in front of the NRA which used to be in my district and because of redistricting it isn't anymore The best thing that ever happened in redistricting And we were in a vigil And congressman Jerry Conway said that it's almost every week that they're having a moment of silence in the House of Representatives because of gun violence in this country Almost every week Yeah And you know you got to ask the Republican colleagues in that room Why are you not doing anything Well ask them this before they go to the NRA thing tomorrow John tweeted if people kill people not guns Why did the NRA ban guns from their event instead of the attendees Yeah I mean I don't see anyone ever asked Ted Cruz or anybody that question Right How come guns are banned from the NRA event Mmm um Right Okay Peter Frampton who does feel like we do Apparently But it's just you know Carl how many of these can we cite He just said 26 years ago a gunman entered dunblane primary school in Scotland killing 16 kids and a teacher The UK government responded by enacting tight gun control legislation in the 9400 plus days since there have been a total of zero school shootings in the UK right Same in Australia I don't know how many times and I don't know what that argument just seems to bounce off Republicans like none of that We have our own if you think oh America first we did it here We banned a salt weapons What has it gone up students have gone up 200 and something percent percentile since that expired.

"Okay well I know We're gonna hear from all of our regulars today Because we're all obviously the shock we've had a loss in the family Eric bullard was killed in a bike accident As you probably know the same day my dog Jamie died Unexpectedly so you know what You universe first of all who brought the tissues Are there any tissues Is there extra charges for the snot today or no Jody's going for tissues Because that's what good friends do Okay Jodi's become like me you know harbinger of bad news people are like when I tune in and Jody's guest hosting I know something horrible So yes thank you guys Now I can't what day is it Travis It's Thursday Oh Okay The longest we got something the longest year of my life yesterday Okay And by you you mean this week right Yeah No thank you honey Okay All right Okay Napkins Oh do you need one Yes Well you're the one that did the Montage to yourself Okay No no it's fine No thank you guys You all said take all the time you need And I said you know I can't We have to be here for Eric 'cause we've had a death in the family We're all you know what if we say Travis yesterday Just the same words We're all just shocked we're numb We're broken We're just processing like you are It just it's just and I think everybody knows how much we loved it We were saying Chris is our longest time He and Carl frisch are 16 years now Yeah yeah Yeah well this version of the show is true He's been here since the very beginning every Monday and there's just gonna be a giant hole in my heart and in my show Monday it's 7 Pacific He is my sanity you know my rock You know the word I kept seeing on Twitter over and over is irreplaceable Yeah absolutely He really is there's nobody that does what Eric does And bob says can I Bob Hope We'll join us later as cyclists We're just being killed in a bike accident is obviously close to home for a lot of us And 57 and his wife and kids my heart just breaks but you know his work is so essential and I just like all I can think of Jody is this that we have to We have to know we have to all be Eric We all have to be Eric We have to especially now Especially with our democracy hanging in the balance in the midterms coming up like we have to do this for Eric It's our job to call out the truth right The call out in every way we can to everyone we can To point out what the media how we're the media is failing our democracy right Turn out in the midterms you know Ehrlich will see it Eric we'll see all the smirks wiped off all those pundits faces right That oh the Democrats are definitely going to lose the midterms in Atlanta Right Let's prove it wrong you know And he's reunited with fern It was true Video appearance on the stuff No Wow okay Also my soul mate Jamie died Really kind of unexpectedly you know Jodie all my peers have lived to 13 I mean giant breeds They're age arranges 8 to 12 but they've all of my peers will look to 13 and this was Jamie's just 6 And you know she's my cuddle bug She's just in my lap on the bed she weighs a lot So my lap you know in the bark lounge or sheet she slept on my chest every night I don't actually wedge my body under her hundred pound body because she would be in my spot sweat to wedge myself under her and that sucks So you can imagine it's just I only noticed the lumps like three weeks ago or something and then in the middle of that my mother fell and broke her leg and I had to fly back to North Carolina And so oh by the way we got the cytology report back yesterday the day after she died and it was lymphoma so that's good to have that information Now a warning This is my own sound bites play in my head Anyway long story tests you know blood tests and psychology X-rays didn't know what was wrong I was waiting for results and finally took her to the hospital And then that night I got the call in the middle of the night that she thought she was going to pass And so I went and helped her over the bridge because she was suffering you know It's a very aggressive very fast moving And they weren't sure when the blood came back They thought it could have been even a snake bite or some venom and so I rushed her there thinking you know like oh maybe it's something unrelated to the lumps and anyway So yeah that was very fast I guess that's the blessing that she did not suffer a long time and we've all had dogs that had long declines but it's just such a shock You know I just it was 8 months ago I lost Fred Austin who was without Jamie summers this morning This really sad But I got him to be JD's playmakers Jamie was so sad when friend died and now colonel's only 11 months old Oh this is the whole thing you know I came home and he's smelling her all over me and just sad wouldn't eat Oh I just dogs are so intuitive you know he's a sad too So anyway and then it just and then later in the same day we.

"8 20 This W CPT 8 20 where facts matter Anyone waiting for Robert Murdock to do the honorable thing is going to wait a very very long time after someone who's watched him for 20 years It is the Stephanie Miller show Jody Hamilton is here with us because she is a good friend Yeah Um Because it is a very good chance I will be unable to speak At some point So we are remembering our colder this morning and also if it seems quiet it's because there's no barking from Jamie Okay I just have to say Aaron rupar wrote another beautiful piece that kind of what a lot of people have said Jody about you know most importantly Ebola sudden passing is a reminder that none of us can take tomorrow for granted But you know he Quoted from his latest his last piece on Monday that we I'm such a fan that we talked about which goes to how critical Eric is was is just also he's the only person that can help me survive chuck Todd He wrote Sunday's meet the press round table featured two segments with a assembled pundits Eric Wright's one focused on how immigration might be a problem for Democrats in the midterms The other on how Trump might be a problem for Democrats in the midterms as usual Biden's historic economic record was ignored That's why according to a recent poll 37% of Americans think the economy lost jobs over the last year when it's gained 7 million Just 28% of people know that jobs were up virtually all about white coverage today agrees on this central point when it comes to the economy Biden's approval rating is taking a hit because Americans are freaked out by inflation But maybe it's taking a hit because Americans are under the false impression that jobs are disappearing Voters don't know what they don't know because the press isn't interested in telling them about record job success and an economy that is years ahead of where experts thought it would be coming out of a global pandemic That's why exactly it's so critical right now Before the midterms with democracy hanging in the balance you know not just in Ukraine here And Eric's voice is lost and we have got to step into the phrase for him you know I mean it's when people say like oh that's what he would want it It's like you know that's what he's wanted Because that's what he dedicated his life to Is to telling the truth of the training he really cared And it's um We're not jinko today Hi Carl frisch good morning Longest time we had to figure that out yesterday I think we're 16 years this iteration of the show And you have been with us at the beginning We didn't start having regulars until about 2009 though This version of the show started in 2004 We didn't start having regulars until about 2009 Right Yeah Well I didn't know about it Carl first if I had But Carl would have been with me since birth The call and Eric started the same week And that was the original right wing world Right Yes that's right Yeah we had you on for right wing world Yeah I remember the first time we got the call I was at media matters at the same time together And we had been reaching out to progressive talk radio to try and get our work out there And we started listening to your show and right-wing world cut our attention And you didn't know that you'd be getting a 15 year book and did you Had you known what you were committing to you and Eric No but I remember at first it didn't start as a regular kind of weekly thing And I got so jealous when Eric did start as a weekly thing That was by design They always put you against each other Well I mean and that's the thing I was in my mid 20s when I started working with Eric and I always admired I remember telling friends I'm like I'm working with a guy who used to write for Rolling Stone That was the coolest thing in the world By the way play your favorite music today for Eric you know rude pundit who maybe will hopefully join us too today We talked about how they talked about their love of music a lot Eric worked for billboard and billboard Yeah right Something else that was also on press run Yeah I didn't always include it for you But at the end of the day at the end he always talked about music He always had the good stuff which was good news for the fun stuff was him highlighting some music that he had found enjoy So if you use what's the thing with Carl you know If you knew him like most of us all knew him as this professional hero of ours just to learn more I mean unfortunately too sometimes in death but just about the fullness of him as a man And a husband and a father and you know it's just all of that is his love of stuff you know normal stuff outside of politics Yeah and I remember filling in for him sometimes at conferences as like a speaker or a panelist Yeah And that's like when I had to follow Maxine waters here I feel you Reclaiming my time They would always give me his name tag I remember people walking up to me and being like Eric buller and I'm like no I'm sorry So eventually I would just start crossing off his day with putting an I'm sorry I'm sorry It's not him It's not him Trust me it was a church in south central And I think the church was actually levitating after Maxine waters spoke and then they're like and now here's a radio geek Stephanie.

"Appointed to a four year term as Sichuan candidate of schools The vote to appoint interim superintendent monifa mcknight the permanent superintendent of Montgomery county schools was unanimous She's the first woman ever chosen this superintendent and the first African American woman to lead the state's largest school system A number of board members commented on mcknight's commitment to equity and she referenced that when she accepted the appointment And we can never lose that focus because it must be personalized for every single student Her four year contract will take effect July 1st Kate Ryan W TOP news New this afternoon the fairfax county school board has unanimously approved a proposal to prohibit firearms on all school owned property It will also review its curriculum safety protocols and professional development related to gun violence and suicide prevention The proposal was sponsored by school board members Laura Jane Cohen and Carl frisch Cohen says oh must be done to ensure that as a school system they're doing all they can to protect students and staff from the horrors of gun violence Last year the Virginia General Assembly passed a law granting school boards the authority to prohibit individuals from possessing firearms on property owned or leased by the school system excluding law enforcement It's been about a year since Virginia abolished the death penalty But now there's debate about whether it should be brought back in certain cases This bill basically says.
