"Oh, yeah. Wild thing. I think this is a perfect psalm. We're getting a little wild. It's been a wild show so far. Been right. Wild up pumped up for today. So it's good to be here. Beautiful day in the Dallas Fort Worth area look at the sun is shining. Week. Where is this rain? They're talking about, Uh, on the weekend Cubs, I go lies the best job in the world. Being a meteorologist, folks. You could be wrong all the time and still keep your job. You got to love it. You gotta love it. Welcome back to the show this extra time, Mac, gather you're on talk radio 11 Pleasure to be here as always jumping right back into things. We gotta jam packed Show 214787 11 9 year. 817787 11 90. That is a phone number If you want to talk About anything sports related. Of course, we keep the sports, no politics. And if we do we speak only facts here. Something Dr Fauci don't know about. All right? I'll stop. All right, uh, Toronto Maple Leafs. The Toronto Maple Leafs. You just make me so furious. I had your back all all first round. I can't believe what they did against the Montreal Canadians. Are they cursed? It's hard to argue that at this point It is really hard to argue with that at this point. I mean first round loss at the first round loss. They haven't won a Stanley comes since 1967. 1967 that's Ronald Late believes was the last time they won a Stanley Cup. That's crazy. But considering how A team like this how good they are. I mean, the team was stacked. It was. I can't believe how bad they perform. Mitch Marner was in Austin Matthews. Just we're pretty much I'm not going to say non existent through the series, but it was pretty bad and they they just struggled throughout. You could say the only thing only really reason that Police were in my opinion relevant was William Neiland. Ernie Lander was pretty pretty awesome through through most of that series. Obviously, there's plenty of games that people struggled. The main talking point being. Yes, sure. John Tavarez was knocked out of that. Um I just even then. Get the to vars is the captain of the team. He is an integral part of that offense. That's a given. I understand that that is a huge, huge loss. But the firepower on the Leafs in the talent Muslim losing Muslim, too, was huge in itself to big losses, but they should have still been able to find a way to win that series. Montreal is not that good. Carey Price is fantastic. Nothing. Nothing bad to say about Carey Price. My goodness and a shutout win last night. And Montreal's up to nothing on the on the Winnipeg Jets, which is crazy in itself. Obviously the chef Lee, uh, suspension is going to play huge for them because he's one of the best players. Kind of Might be the downfall. And what causes Winnipeg to lose this series? Is that suspension in my opinion, but all in all, like I said earlier, you got Game four tonight in Tampa Bay versus Carolina. Tampa Bay leads that series 21 That's on USA at three o'clock and then Boston New York Islanders, the Bruins verse Islanders. That's been a fantastic series so far, one that's really just being going back and forth. It's 21 to the Bruins, and that game is on NBC at 6 15. That's fantastic, exciting, exciting for hockey, and I look forward to seeing how that continues to move forward and how everything plays out. Let's go to the Belmont Stakes. The bell about states. It's 153rd Belmont Stakes. That's exciting in itself looking at today's race. You can see that. The post time Will be 5 49 5 49 Central standard Time. 6 49 Eastern, Um, and that will be on NBC Sports. Oh, I'm sorry, NBC. NBC will have that. NBC Sports starts its pre race show, beginning at two p.m. here in air in central standard time, so the but the race itself will start. At five P.m.. Eastern. That coverage will go to NBC. So that's cool in itself. The 2021 Belmont Stakes. Looking at it. You got bourbon, Nick. Essential quality. RAHM borrow rum bar, obviously coming off the Preakness win and we'll try to claim his second consecutive Triple Crown race. Medina Spirit who won the Kentucky Derby. Is not in the field for obvious reasons. Because of all the controversy that's taking place with Bob Baffert and it's failed drug tests. It did fail. It's drug tests. And Bob Baffert. It's got himself some code. We'll get to that here shortly. My favorite horse in the race hot Rod, Charlie 3 to 1 odds. Flavia Pratt. You know there will be writing that. Horse. Remember, will be run by John Velazquez. By the way, one of the Ortiz brothers has been knocked out. We'll see how that plays out. Um he's hurt so he won't be running on Think it's no one No. One agenda. And, uh, So a couple names that you really see. That you've seen in the Kentucky Derby that you've seen in the Preakness. So kind of kind of some horses that you weren't familiar with. Maybe before everything played out. Or the Kentucky Derby. I should say, but, uh, kind of household names now with the likes of, um, essential quality. Remember how hot Rod Charlie and like known agenda Belmont Stakes is, of course, the longest of the legs. And, uh, we look forward to it. Not much to say on it. You know it doesn't. It doesn't bring one. You know, It's a smaller field, so it doesn't have the horses. No, no good names out there. Just you know, you know the basic names stick with hot rod Charlie. Like I said, My favorite for the For the whole Triple Crown was super sandwich. Just a great name for a horse super sandwich. That horse finished dead last in the Kentucky Derby, and, uh So pretty funny in itself, But looking at the situation with Bob Baffert and, uh, we'll get we'll talk about that and we'll move along. But he's been banned for two years at Churchill Downs. Obviously, Churchill Downs Is where they run, Uh, the Kentucky Derby, and he'll be suspended for two years. This came down or Wednesday..

John Velazquez Ernie Lander Flavia Pratt Mitch Marner Bob Baffert John Tavarez William Neiland Toronto Maple Leafs Ronald Late two years Carey Price Dallas Fort Worth Kentucky Derby Lee 817787 11 90 two p.m. 1967 NBC Sports Churchill Downs Wednesday

"Win it's hard not to get wrapped up in all the action on the ice and seeing what will happen next you have to look at it strictly as a coach and to me that's the thing. You see him very much at the end of the game with the White Board calling the shots and so the the great thing for him he is there's assistant coaches, and then there's really really involved assistant coaches and he appears to be the latter. So maybe that's something that satisfies them at the stage. That, I would bet if a head coaching GIG, came along, he'd he'd probably jump at it and he's he's probably an and that's part of being a great coach. You gotta understand everyone's going to get to play. So that's the issue. Right you got. You got that issue with coaching. And all it takes some time Steve is so you play you know maybe maybe you're only playing five hundred or three or four games under five hundred, you know twenty games in. And and then you get a couple leaders on the team going. I don't like the coach. I don't think he knows what he's doing. You know. And that starts to circle around and that can be the demise. "Jordan Bennington came along and helped Saint Louis. When a couple of last year, he was a three or four years started with the Saint Louis Blues J. Gallon has been traded to the Montreal Canadians Allen over the last four years until this year. Had started between forty six and sixty one games for the blues and he's not cheap. He makes four point, five, million dollars a year. So Montreal's now north of fifteen million dollars in the goaltending department when everybody's SORTA says, well, wait a minute the don't they wanNA maybe work at that At Ford position. A little stronger there I'll get a little bigger. Of. All these all these we quick players up front. Maybe a little more size up. Anyway I founded an interesting deal to bring in Jake Gallon for the Montreal Canadian's and that's been the knock on the whole Carey price show in that the haves really overused this guy and I don't know what do you think of them bring in a guy who well, probably can play thirty games a year. Well I'll tell you what I think about it so. In in watching them play this year. Okay. In the in the playoffs Carey Price. Okay. His role he's been been playing longtime. And was always touted as the best goal in the League So then they lose that round of the playoffs she's he lets a couple of soft ones you know when I'm watching the highlights and yet every guy at the end of that series, every commentator nobody said anything but let's not forget this guy is still the best goalie in the League. I heard that a lot her I don't know if he had a great allow for. Sure. Right. So I hear I, you know that he's the best goal in the league. Okay. No doubt. Let's go to the scouts. Let's all the guys got all the the people weighing in on this. One hundred percent of the people say Carey price still the best goal in the league irate. Let's find another, golly. That's what I think of that. You know. They're not. They're not saying they carry prices not still the star there and come playoff time. He'll probably all the starts unless maybe get into a back to back quirk of the playoff schedule which happened in a couple of cases this year but. It's just keeping them healthy making sure that he's ready ready to play offs One thing I'm interested though I it's something everybody always accepts like. Start a guy can't start your goalie. You know seventy games as crazy. We'll marty used to do it and being read the inner man being goalie. The plays that that level is not that uncommon I just get it. You know you WANNA make sure your goal is healthy and ready but. People get so protective of them with the goal getting the time off and all that, but they don't get that protective about skaters like tons of teams ride their best defenseman. Game thirty minutes a night and I mean with all due respect to goaltending. In my personal opinion I, think a defenseman plays a way more taxing position than goalie does right but you can only carry so many guys, right. You can only so you, gotTa. Get what you're saying You know some of these guys are playing thirty minutes a game, right? Some of these skaters So I'm. Just saying you got goal, you get two of them so you can. Conceivably do a full tune situation each one of them place forty one games and and then than you. You'll really give them some time off if you want to do it that way but. Why not start your start one in what's the problem with? If you're going to give your star center and your best of defenseman heavy heavy minutes every single game, you're not giving them nights office not even a consideration. We've got a back to back. Ten million. Dollars. Centerman. Yeah we'd better give him the night off. It never happens right? Right. If you talk to any coach. About. What's the toughest thing about you know come game time? Okay. Toughest thing about coaching. Okay and you you might get some different answers. Well, the power plays really hard to to build these days because the defenses are so strong or. Someone else will say, well, it's really hard to defend. You know we've got to build our hard to defend the power all sorts of different things but all of them stevie went when pushed for an answer, we'll say the doubting experience of who to put a net. You know. Because everyone's into called the platoon thing now, all the to goalie thing. That they're going to do in in. This is a point in case. got over that we gotTA HAVE A. Not just a backup but a guy who can play twenty games maybe fifteen, ten some. But but I know all of them say it's it's the worst thing about hockey. You got all the talent in the world you got all the experience from from these coaches and it still. Crossing your fingers Steve, walking out, walking out through the tunnel. Vs Okay Tonight I. Hope I hope he can do sorry it's where. You. Were doing so well, and I know is doing so well. I. Yeah absolutely. On that note, I would say. For me I I'm only I always admired the NHL head coach because they're able to put away their competitive fire or at least quell it somewhat. because. That was my biggest struggle. I think of all in that I loved competing but I'm not out there playing the game. So I'm watching and I'm observing and like I almost move into spectator mode because you're so into it and he's like you're hoping will score and you kind of ended up being sort of pseudo cheerleader because you're all I want to win so bad but you have to quell that like crazy and stay focused on evaluating what's happening on the ice reading the situations figuring out what the other team is doing that maybe successful right now and you're coming up with a game plan you know in Game Adjustment Is is is what coaching is all. About you can put together the best game plan you want to practice before the game starts and if the if the other team is brain dead and doesn't do anything to counter, then you're fine but it never happens that way the other coaches you hit the NHL damn good. They're going to adjust, and then you have to readjust and so at the basis of everything this great competitive fire and your desire to win it's hard not to get wrapped up in all the action on the ice and seeing what will happen next you have to look at it strictly as a coach and to me that's the thing..

Cousins: No virus worry, wants to 'respect' others' concerns

"NFL starting quarterback. That's that's talking about the corona virus. He gave an interview and was asked about the coronavirus and he said. If I get it. So be it if I die I die. Viking quarterback Kirk cousins. He's kind of taking a survival of the fittest approach to the thing personally speaking right and he says, if I di Di I kind of have peace about that. He said he doesn't believe facemasks work in helping to prevent the spread of covid but he repeatedly said he does he does in fact, wear them because he wants to respect others concerns about the virus so they asked him. Gave from a scale of one to ten. What's your level of concern over contracting the virus? One being the person who says masks are stupid you're all a bunch of lemmings while ten is I'm not leaving my master bedroom or the bathroom for the next ten years cousin said, well, we'll call anybody stupid because you gotta get in trouble for that but I'd be a point zero, zero, zero, zero, zero one.

"Everybody. Welcome to the WPA. It's all about true crime on today's show. Was Julius husband trying to frame her for murder? I get a little discouraged seeing hub badly true crime is destroying sports podcast right now in terms of popularity in any event, we're actually here. James with. Tales of sports and whatever Steve Along with Jim loads to get to today Jimmy Howard things. US TV okay where we ranked in the world's Steve of podcast where There are seven hundred. I understand now there's seven hundred over seven, hundred and fifty thousand podcasts. Right, that makes it tough. Anybody's got that list that had that seven, hundred, fifty, thousand, overall cumulative list of all subject matter all podcasts all the time right couldn't couldn't you've over a couple of years ago when you phone me when you got axed? tsn phone several let's do a business restructuring. Cabinet couldn't you? Couldn't. You couldn't couldn't you sort of found something for us where we're maybe there's only like twenty people who are competing for. Like. A top hundred or something stevie where go? Yeah. We can do that. We can bust into that. Seven hundred and fifty once you give me involved in here I don't know I don't know and it's not like. It's a slowing down either they say. Thousands of podcast starting each and every day in North America. Right now. So yeah. Try to cut through the clutter and I think the key to it. All this is is Benishi. In our do it you know and So we're doing what we used to do. Has, it has it affected Radio Steve. Like I'm sure there's some effect on radio but like everyone thought boy, this'll kill the radio Biz. I Dunno I stopped counting fifteen radio stations at Edmonton Twenty eight, there's no. There's no question that it's affecting radio stations, Koroma viruses affected radio stations here in Ottawa station you and I used to work for they're being affected by those two things and also their major product. has had some tough years as well. So not good times for radio in general. And I think podcasting the only thing that keeps it from taking over everything just as Netflix has taken over cable TV. Is fact that people under a managed to figure out Netflix's okay. So it's on my TV and it's on the Internet. It's on demand I I get I, get that I understand that and even though it's exactly the same thing for podcasting, it's still seems to be a learning curve that hasn't quite yet been achieved when it is Yikes for radio right. Yeah. Yeah. Well, they were saying that they've seen in a long time. Those Steve You know when satellite radio came along we were working right when when it when Busted into the market right and it was supposed to be a satellite radio. You can pick any station you want. You can pick any topic and there won't be any commercials. And they thought boy that's GONNA kill kill terrestrial radio but it didn't know because not on-demand podcasting is right. NETFLIX's on demand and it's murdering cable TV. You don't know who has the right idea Steve. I don't know if you watch watch it but people's attention right. There's always this this back and forth volleying that we do about how long should the PODCAST BE? How many minutes right should be and a lot of people are saying you know skirt kind of a forty minute deal is about people's attention span, and now I'm hearing stuff like twenty minutes. And you've got twenty minutes. Yeah. Well, they listen GonNa work or or you know break your show up into two parts was another thing twenty here twenty the second outing and listen to the whole Blah Blah Blah Blah. You've heard of Ted talks, right? Sure. Ted Talks has gone on Ted talks. So you can. You can search Ted Talks Okay and Ted talks are. How should I put this? What did they cover everything? Everything and anything, and it's people on a stage. Who are experts in their field talking about their field whatever is from from aliens UFO's. To Addiction to sports to the you know. The the meaning of bubbles there. It's just like crazy but they're only like a ten to fifteen minute deal you know and so it's telling. Stranger we gotTA Changers eight-minute Steve. No. I. Agree I think. With podcasting being as young as it is, it's hard to have anybody who's got twenty years experience does it just aren't anybody? A handful of people who were podcasting when no one even knew it podcast was right but the reality is there's no true experts at this stage just starting to emerge because it's been pretty damn popular for a decade but Yeah. So we're learning as we go somewhat and I do think that that's probably about the right amount. There's going to be people like David, for example, one of our best listeners he jogs. Says Perfect for his hour long run, but the majority of your listeners they listen usually in the same capacity as safe for example. The commute to work who listens to radio and uh but there's also this also people like to have it on all day long. So anyway, it's It's it's hard to know for sure what the best thing is everybody's got their own opinions of things and their own preferences but I find it very fascinating. I I mean I. Have a deep long love affair with radio, but I kinda considered my ex wife now and and now all this. New stuff content creation things online on demand I. It's it's exciting because what excited me about radio is being able to jump a Mike and to be able to broadcast to a very large number of people that was exciting to me. Now, it's not just whatever the transmitter can do with my voice. Now, it's the world. Now you're on the Internet and anybody anywhere on the planet can just click the keypad and suddenly they're listening to Steven Jim Right. The other thing probably is. So facebook. The big grant, the granddaddy of them. All right facebook. Twitter instagram. So when that thing comes along, this is how I have this figured out about why there's almost a million podcasts. Okay. Youtube when these things come. Sums on facebook right and they can post something. On facebook at first came on. Right and people go look at this. You know this guys talking about whatever in three minutes here. And then someone gets the idea of what we should make that. We should do full-time thing here but how do we do it? So then Youtube there and people start putting their stuff up on Youtube. The other thing. The other reason gotta be Stevie for sure is to do a podcast. As. Compared to in the old days if you want to do a radio show, well, you gotta go pitch you gotta get sponsors. You gotta get hired. You gotta you gotTa Find Arena Ford Heels in with you're on am or FM or What city or all that stuff so a podcast I was telling the guy the other day and I don't think. I don't think it's stretch and I said you can. You can start a podcast in. Thirty seconds No. No there's a lot more to it than that. I mean immediate WANNA use your cell phone and do a really really crappy podcast than yeah. Okay. Right. Right. That's that's what I mean. That's what I mean. So that's that's why right Someone. Jump Zoom record it, and put it up online..

"Include Ottawa Senators past, and present guys, Thomas Shibata, Brian McGrath, checkered faces Meg dot CA now certainly thought one of the nice moments of the NHL awards in Las Vegas last week, was that moment would have school. A Carey price has chance to reunite with his number one fan eleven year old boy by the name of Anderson Whitehead. And of course, we all know the story behind that, unfortunately, Andersen's mom passed away in her dying wish was that Anderson will get a chance to meet Carey price, and he did. And then they reunited again because they got together at a practice and carry price, hugged him and gave an autograph real, nice moment. And they got together again at the NHL awards. The initial deal was the Carey price was joining us via satellite. He's talking to Anderson from video screen in the background and also. Okay forget this. And then he walks onstage, he was there the whole time. So it was a neat moment, and it takes an interesting turn, because well, I guess Carey price was looking for his pocket square for his suit jacket to be at the NHL awards. So he'd look just. The little kerchief that you stuck sticking your best bucket. Exactly. So and he seemed to have founded he excessively Steve, it's an accessory. I've never worn one in my life. But I know that, you know, it's quite a popular looking thing. So he did appear to he, he had a gray jacket light gray. And he appeared to have a pocket square and they're nice block one. Well turns out it wasn't a pocket square at all. His wife Angela decided she jumped on Instagram, I think it was social media of some kind and said, well, it's been a busy day and it's eleven o'clock now and I'm gonna hit the sack and carries gonna come in and tuck me in, in a minute, before, go, the wanted to show you something funny, and so they're the hotel room. And she shows the camera on Kerry, prices suit jacket and said carried forgotten his pocket square for tonight's NHL awards. Nothing where so want the accessory. No, I mean, I, I could I would die. I'm just die. Right. Well as wife Angela then pulls out the actual, we think, is a pocket square. In fact, it is a black hanky-panky thong that he had throat, the entire thing that night. Nice very strong. While say that's very stressful. So he stuff to throwing in his pocket there from his wife to the up. It's, it's neat sort of, like underwriting story to this other emotional thing that was going on at the same time. Right. Apparently, Steve apparently, it's very comfortable. It's very, very comfortable aside from the obvious work. Got rid of, of panty lines that it's, it's, it's a it's a deal with comfort now with them. I think you should try it. I think you should try all right? I want you to as a little experiment, Steve. The best shows the best podcast is real stuff. And if you're going to talk about this intelligently, I think you should with on, on on. Your wife's and. So makes you house one Steve anyway, not giving any details there. God bless Carey price. That's funny. I would say, though, that if anybody on this show is willing to do that thing. And if you're asking me to put a thong on it'd be like let me give. That's no, no. That won't be happening. But the guy who put on a tight red dress for Wayne Gretzky, just as a matter of a prank or a gag. I think you would be the number one seed to be wearing a thong. All right. I'll try it. All right. I think it'd be probably still find. You wearing the borat thong somewhere. Can I not? Oh my God. Oh my God. That's when I worked for k rock here for a year, they close there was so gross. They were huge, huge advertisers around the city. They owned every freaking billboard, and whether three of us on the show and they, they put us in the borat thing. And the next thing, I'm driving home. And I look up on one of these massive Bill pours and they're they're him wearing one of these borat things, you know, I didn't know it was going to be I thought it'd be a little one offer something. But anyway, the hey for something like that, that really should there really should be lied just googled borat. Thong, Jim Jerome, and I see no sign of it anymore. Thank god. Thank god. Well, if I really like it, I'll try thong over the next day or two to try one in, if I really like it. I'll take a picture. Maybe is is very troubling just thinking. I just listened Stevie. Of that Steve, okay? Let's get back to some sports. You are keeping it on the real to sports. That's a that's rich anyway, found myself, Steve nothing to do anymore. The Jada are in the tank, although I I'll say this, Steve about, no, because I've been giving giving auto shit about not nothing exciting happening about the sense right now. It's just like blah, not doing it for me. You know, the draft totally unexciting even use said you weren't sure the guys that were talking about. You know who are up in commerce in the in the league on the top ten. Yeah. However, you know look at the J Steve there in the tank they're absolutely in the tank but everyone's watching Blatty grill junior. Okay, I'm searching, the score to get my updates. When I you know, seeing how many hits this guy. He's, he's really follow -able, you know, he's going to be a superstar in the league. So back back my point about, you know, if you've got one of these guys you're gonna get tons of interest in it. So anyway, I, I don't watch all the games the Jays, but I watched the highlights and I and I watch for him to see how he does. So no hockey anymore. Steve basketball's done that, that, that thing was unbelievable. So the, you know, the letdown after the Stanley Cup the NBA now I'm tuned into the CF L. You know, I'm watching I'm watching. I watched the red blacks, there the other night and to, to start baby. Yeah, exactly. And. They'd be they'd be Calgary didn't one of those games. They did. Yeah. The in Calgary. First time in the franchise's history that they wanna game in Calgary period. I've actually CFL question for you. From one of the good listeners. Do you want it? Late on me, Pell Zama. Subscribe this, John, I'm a subscriber to the podcast and I'd love to hear Jimmy talking about how the Edmonton eskimos fans out there are feeling about former Ottawa red blacks quarterback Trevor Harris after their games. Keep up the good work fellas. That is from Janis worth. Anyway, dancer, the guys question Stevie about Harris. This is how it works for me. And if I'm if I'm the barometer then. I can understand that whole culture of people saying, well, if you win games you'll get attendance, you know, you'll begin because their attendance was low Stephen that be Siegen. You know, I thought it was his lowest fifteen thousand but you just looked it up something like twenty five thousand or so mentoring game that stadium hold seventy thousand people come we'll stadium. However, Steve, I'm not that interested in the CFO. I don't know that much about it as opposed to my massive knowledge of hockey. Okay. I don't know much about a but they've, they've. Edmonton won both games Steve. I don't know. But they want they won this game against BC which brought back, Mike Riley of courses quarterback. And now I'm going to watch now I'm going to watch if they were owing to Steve, and it's such a small schedule right the game. They play eighteen games. I think in a regular schedule season. So, but, but now they're to whether Harris says is the guy behind the whole wins or not. I don't know. I watched a little bit of it, but now I'm watching. So I'm gonna tune in now. So, you know, the answer is you start to win games. They gotta do some about their tendency here. It was a nice night. The other night there's only so many home games. But. One and Mike Riley returned. That's that doesn't bode well for the season moving forward. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. But it may what the you know, they got the winds under their belt now. So hopefully it'll improve. It's funny, so. I'll start to watch those games. Like I said, the other I ran into and we could talk about this tomorrow because it's changed my whole outlook on the concussion thing in sports. And 'cause I've always been of the opinion that, you know, all this talk about concussion and concussion protocol now and and post game post career concussion syndrome. I've always believed that, that the players have to take some of the liability because they sign up for a, you know, they sign up for hockey or football, and then they say, well, I'm gonna sue the league because I ended up getting a concussion. I understand that. I think it's, you know, awareness has to come up. I think they have to do something about that. But I've always been of the opinion that the players have to have to take some of the ownership to that because they, they sign up for this thing. However, I ran into rod con up the other day who was a star lineman for the Evanston eskimos back in the eighties, and nineties, and great guy. He was alignment couple stories here. One is, you know about concussions. 'cause I started asking him, you know, I moved out here in the eighties when he was playing football and we, you know, with Molson, and they looked after the eskimos, and that was part of my job, which I loved to get down there to look after the team. And so I started asking him about all these guys from from those days who I knew back in the eighties. But I lost track of them and without giving names, I banged off five or six or seven guys that I was wondering about. Tom Wilkinson, of course played back then. And every guy brought up that I wanted him to say hi to. He said they're they're done. They're done. They're in terrible health. That that there. Yeah. That lots of them are showing signs, if not already have Alzheimer's from it, and he believes it has everything to do with.

"Could come in and give bolts or that group and make that group a little deeper and stronger, that'd be a big book. All right. We got tons to get to it. We'll get to a lot. Of your tweets tomorrow because we just got so many of them, but we're really up against it. But I I got an interesting tweet I wanna find either because they'll just fly in through so many of them Sam D as gentlemen, I know the talent pool in today's game is exceptional. But if you had to choose one player to take a penalty shot or win a shootout right now who would it be an which goalie would you choose to defend it? Wow. Good question cause. I mean, we have all these shootout guy. I mean, I guess you gotta take TJ. Oh, she right and shoot out do think right, especially he did against Russia. Yeah. What's he's done that, you know, at the NFL always been very good shoot out as well. He's someone that really thinks it through. And he's an interesting guy to talk to about those circumstances. But I think you gotta take TJ Oshii in that based on his history and goaltender. Goi. I mean one was was good for a while. Now, it's kind of stabilized a little bit. But he was money back early in his career. Yeah. Yeah. I listen. You can't really I mean, that's that's a good one big, you know, carry price. I still think he got a. Yeah. You'll look at Carey price at a big spotlight that I mean, I'd have to go back and look through the numbers for goalies in their save percentage in that. But I mean off the top Miami basketball becomes the mind right away. Just because he's so big, and he's very agile. And but you know, you look at the numbers. I don't know. Maybe not as though situated just I'm trying like in my mind's eye, right? I don't have any stats up. But you know, the calling ranger games Duke seems to always be money. Right. Like, he's just he always seems to get it done. Remember when they first started doing the shootout like UC yolk in and was money too. Yeah. He was the first guy that was really the guy. I think he hit like his first ten or eleven ridiculous. And yeah, he was very good out of the same move all the time. And they started do like variations of that. Boom. But he was very tough in the shootout for the first year a couple of years there that was his kind of calling card, and that's I think you gotta stick with those that doesn't question though, that gonna question 'cause the guys that you think of great player or sometimes they're not good in the shootout. I was Greta listening right and a penalty, although he shoulda gotten a shot in ninety eight. No one just no headache. I mean, if you put Mark if you put out there and your minutes. There's no downside. Yeah. Nobody's gonna ask you. Why? Gretzky? Yeah. It's like, you know, for me when you have a great player on your bench..

"Be icing. Because it's right on Carey price sixteen thirty nine go in the third period. Shots of twenty eight nineteen Montreal but the ads have a two to one lead. Eric Johnson behind his own that plays it off. The wall ads. Will scoop it out towards center ice? Nifty backhand pass off the wall. Why? Matt Calvert Canadians have it now. Hadman passes again blocked. They'll try it. Again, this time Mike Riley, Eric Johnson pushes his man side. Took takes excuse me from Tomas. Tar now Johnson gets to return. Pass. Calvert, bounces it out towards safety. Matt. Takes over leaves at four Carl Soderberg Soderbergh high slot now for shot say made by Carey price, and he'll hang on. That's much better energy here in this third period in the first period the Canadians at twenty four shots at goal at sixteen in the second. Montreal. Just throwing everything towards Phillip group. Our thirty one shots at goal. The ads only eleven fifty five twenty seven to begin this third period. But the ads got it. Going early land Scott tied for third the NHL in goals has six game winners going into tonight. That's I in the National Hockey League. And third period goals now has fifteen fifteen third period goals is good for first in the National Hockey League. Thanks hop was won by the Montreal Canadians. And here they come out to center ice. Next told me we're back down to number thirteen Alexander Kirkwood picks it up in the corner. He in gold fell down the back into free. Now gets for backing up into it is Finn Andrew towards centre-right. Tyson jobs will poke at it can't get around his men. Carey price again out to play a place in front of a wide open net. Canadians trying to handle a bouncing puck inside your own zone. They finally recollecting. Here's John Andrew an-another. Another. No look pass insiders. Makes it to David slim co. Slum co his pass those. Artery elected shot goes wide. Rebound picked up. It's blocked. Why tyson? Joe's trying to get there for the ads. Noga down ice and this should be icing on Colorado. And it is. Gabriel. Scott leads the team in goals with twenty three again, just three shy of his career best twenty six. Part of the reason for that is shooting percentage this year. Coming into tonight. Twenty one percent. Thirteen point seven percent last year eleven point eight and eleven point nine years before that for the team lead in power play goals as well as seven one shy of his career-best his goal in the third period. Even strength. The second goal of the game for the ads who shot for Montreal blocked out high. Get the rebound back. The point is now for Jordy Ben throws a towards the cage it's on the skate. And now it's loose in the corner to Scott. To check on his van pokes rate as Phanindra ghetto. Whoever couldn't handle an Tyson. Joe's takes over. Canadian zone wanted to shot band on it. Shut down in the corner by shea Weber jobs will bounce back in the Canadian try and bring it out. Pitching news Zadora now, Landes got its Tyson. Barry, Barry, making his way through store goes off air Johnson is on now. Ben chips at Ford. Almost Atari stick check thereby Meco, Renton, Dr plays it out the wall behind the net. Group reverses course near signed for me, go ranted on size pass through the and trying to pick out calling Wilson. He's held up by max dome in the neutral zone. Now shock cross the red line pass returns to Tomi his shot is blocked by Eric Johnson to the far corner. Rebound up and all along the wall taken over by Colin Wilson tries to go around Riley Wilson with a power move towards the net. Head backhand is saved by Carey price, and he'll hang on with fourteen o three to go in our third period. Johnson twenty eight twenty one Montreal. But the avalanche a two to one lead. The big line getting done tonight for the app so far Renton in his sixteen th goal this season for Maitha. Mckinnon. At four twenty one of the second. And here in the third is gawk his twenty third goal of the year from eight the McKinnon again, and Mika Renton that means that McKinnon has thirty four assists on the year in Renton has forty two. Two point nights. So far for both of them as the shies deflect it up into the screen, and we will.

"Who order stuff from Amazon. And then I'm surprised when he showed up I forgot. Exactly. I suspect that TV. We saw you on the NHL network earlier today about that what what were the main points of emphasis from the NHL network crew. What what did they want to know about tonight's while we're talking about a couple of things started off talking about goaltending? From both ends of the ice. Philip grew. Our we'll go tonight. We'll talk about him in our keys to the game coming up a lot of people were saying it's time for group. Our to get a start. The way that Jerry Bednarz. Alexa, starting goaltenders. Yeah. It's how they've been playing lately. But there's also some history that goes into it versus the east this year flipped group hours five and one two and over the Atlantic Division all-time he's only played three times versus the Montreal Canadians. Have even believe that. But it's also interesting that Varlamov if that is the only qualification, and we'll get you to start tonight. Does that go because the Montreal Canadiens or the only team in the National Hockey League that he's never lost to inauguration? Really? But the Varlamov is in a little bit of a funk right now. And I think it was time for our to go. So we were we were talking about that on the other side. We're talking about Carey price who's sitting on two hundred and ninety nine career wins only the great shock plot. As more wins with the Montreal Canadians with three hundred and fourteen. Carey price has more wins with Montreal than Ken Dryden, Patrick walk. But I'll goes four goaltenders carry price is the only Montreal Canadian's goaltender without a Stanley Cup. So, but he's sitting on two hundred ninety nine would be the seventh active goaltender to hit three hundred his last six versus the Colorado Avalanche been pretty darn good. He's five and one. Wow. We also talked about Mika Renton and where he fits in as far as streaks go in avalanche franchise history. And that the thing that I still pose my through thirty four games. Peter Forsberg at fifty eight points Emeka Renton is right there at fifty six. So you're talking about mount Rushmore type stuff with the Colorado Avalanche. And so that was what we discussed in a very shaky Skype Cam on any network earlier today. So I if you tuned into that, I'm sorry. You had to look at my face. Fortunately, we have video and graphics to go along with it. So the face time was was limited the won't you talk a little bit about Tyson Barrett. He ties jam L, most assists. He's closing in on most points also owned by John, Michael, I what.

"And then it just going to be like on the miracle stories over like you can't like, that's not an lineup that you consisting shitting me either. No, no, no. But but then once again, but look at their strength up the middle, like you're dealing with teams in the same division that have fucking to legit number one centers. I mean, you look at Philly, and you look. At at Pittsburgh. I mean wash of course, like I mean, they paid when Berg they paid Winberg number two center. He's he's gotta be. He's gotta be a little better. But I mean, I love. I love that peer. Luke DuBois is good. I think he's going to be a stud. Can get overshadowed a bit. Every was so many good rookies last year, but he ended up twenty goals. Twenty eight assists in eighty two eighty fought a couple of times too. Yeah, let's put it this way. He's going to have to be able to find he's going to have to find another notch in eater in to be considered in that actual on center. Which lets pictures ought to answer your question, which I think if they, if they had a better goal in the playoffs, the last copy has who knows how, how good. Exactly right. Prosecutors, incredible during the regular season toward a rope called momentum all the time, and it's not that likely toward rose gonna call them at you. He's always saying how important is, and for some reason the playoffs come. It's like Jesus Christ. Do you see the black dot is supposed to? It's the puck, stop it busy ready. It's a little early. You're ready for your weekly, trivia biz while you know what are before you start saying that is I'm a little worried about how torched I'm going to get when people listen to those about my trading. Carey price are getting old. I was gonna rip when you and then I'm thinking, I don't know. Maybe that Grinnell wrote the same blog today, didn't you? Mikey. Yeah. I mean, I wrote the blog this week that the Canadian should trade Carey price. I think it's almost inevitable. At this point. I would say this, I look at maybe not for a Russian. You look at the colo-. Columbus forwards. And I think of like a Nashville where there isn't like a standout player. They just get it done as a group. I mean that Josh Anderson's on the third line there, he's a fucking solid player. Boone Jenner is I mean, dubinsky stirred line center. George strands fucking nasty flea knows like a good depth guy top six, like they got a, they got a solid core group of guys. If if if they're going to have to pay Brodsky, who I don't know what his health situations been like in the past. And I know Kerry price has had issues as well, but like that's a type of deal where you might be able to get some if you can muster something up like lock in a good goalie because this team is going to need a good goalie in order to get them over the hump. Exactly. And I also give a shot at the set Jones. One of the great young American, oh fifty, seven points in seventy games last year. He's locked up for another three as at five point, four per nice deal. So BusinessWeek slow, trivia flyer. Okay. There are two NHL teams with civil what inspired nicknames. One of them should be real easy because we're just talking about him. Sure. The Columbus, blue jackets, obviously because they manufactured a lot of the union jackets in the area and the city. Do you know what the other team is? This one's a lot tougher. Wow. Do I guess too? She can guess. Yeah, it's kind of it's a tricky one. Not to NHL t- nicknamed with that. Can I get one team to think about it? Like one and I won't Google it. I just wanna see the teams. I wanna see the list. Yeah, I'll give it during the Western Conference of that helps. So we'll get back to you. Can we can revisit and in the meantime, speaking of, let's raise the connecting, is it the connects not that connects? It's not a lightning, the lightning, but nickname, honestly, like west. During the civil war. You know, west dummy. I said, the west, the light lightning got the name is Phyllis..
