"Back to the Bruins beat on C, L & S media. My name is Evan Mera. You have a great day great week, just having a good time, just having a good old summertime. Anyways, this episode had a lot, Ryan and I got into a lot over the Taylor Hall negotiations. What we're hearing what's being said, what's being reported off? We think they should do then we get into Ryan Suter, Elliott Friedman reporting that the Bruins and Suitor are heavily linked by a lot of different people. And you know last week I poke the bear. We both said that we wanted that to happen and now it seems like it's actually coming to fruition. So we get into why that's a good thing and what that holds for the Bruins, what soutter could get, what the market will be like for Suitor. And then we get into the draft, the crack and draft, which I think is The potential to be very interesting. Given the amount of players amount of good players who are available. I think with the Bruins, it's pretty obvious who the crack and we'll pick or, you know, there's two players, I think that that's pretty much a given that they're going to take. But around the league. It's very interesting Carey Price, Mark Giordano, Vladimir Tarasenko. So, we get into that sort of what direction, the crack take, you know, do they go for young guys with potential to they go for win now, and get the best possible player from each each team, regardless of contract. So we get into that previewing, that kind of getting said that which again should be very, very interesting on on how that all plays out. So before we get to the episode that online is still the fastest. And easiest way to bet on all your Sports Action baseball, season is in full swing way. You could track all the action at online, called latest news, odds and info for all your sporting needs. Whether it be the MLB, you want to do some NBA stuff. "Or EPI, Use the symptom checker and identify epa dot com to start finding answers, Joe, We talked at the top of the broadcast about the lightning coming out, controlling their emotions and getting a good start. Do you think of the job? They don't have to get done it. Yeah, I do. Uh, you know again, The game is being called little closer than we see some of the other games, which is fine. I have no problem with that. The calls. They may have been the correct calls. So we've seen a little bit more special teams in this in this first period. High minor penalties in all of the first Montreal penalty killing is special, and they're just way they the way they fill the seams off is really something to to again. Tonight are the Canadians on Tampa Bay now. Two or 14 in this series, with the extra man playing the liking zone but chase down behind the net and nudged ahead by in. Ruda, who took one of those five minor penalties earlier in the period would like to get it into Montreal's salt and crushed ahead by Romanoff. He had a big goal in Game four, and it's pitchfork diagonally to the right corner. The Tampa Bay Zone by ol Armenia comes back around to him with a little help from Perry. But Armenia couldn't keep it in the zone. Now on the left side, Cat maroon, he had a goal in Game four as well Dump It in behind prices. The Lightning will turn and change. And the only true matchup we've seen in this first period has been the fourth line against the fourth line other that Cooper's just trying to roll everything. Evans chips it in for Montreal that the Canadians unable to recover possession, and that comes Steven Stamkos area pass off the boards to Ross Colton got to it at the bottom of the less circle and centered and coming back to fully knocked that out of harm's way. But in the corner stand post regains possession for Tampa Bay. He'll swing it around to the right point. Waiting. There is Turn it turn. It just keeps it on the kick plate behind the net again for samples had it knocked away by. Hopefully, good puck support. There's Cirelli keeps it alive. Colton gated back to the Tampa Bay Captain, and Stamkos finally has it dislodged Gallagher skates to center gets the red line chips it in and chases himself. Sirnak angles him off. Nice defensive play thereby turn act and Byron follows up on the porch. Yeah, Coleman had it knocked off his stick, but Sirnak follows up. And the Lightning throw it ahead to center. It will trickle into the Montreal zone kept out quickly by Shea Weber to know treated brutally at the blue line by McDonagh as he was knocked off, escape up to center right bouncing puck. Yanni Gord goes behind his back and finds Coleman in front. Just Miss Boudreau, who was driving to the net off the open, left wing elected and angles the puck back out center. I still no score under seven to go in the first period of Game five. Lightning and Canadians from Emily Arena down dollars, along with Joe Micheletti and the rest of our Sports USA crew so glad you could join us this evening, Anderson backhands it into the Tampa Bay zone and races in after the two goal game in Game four, including the overtime game winner. Caufield knocked off his skates with the puck to the slot picked up by Suzuki for Montreal. Back to the line, Surat with a shot past off the end boards came back to the right of Vasilevskiy. You stick it aside. Field behind the net written off the fucking Anderson tripped up on the back of the net as he couldn't get away from. Some are so point Curries the other way for the Bulls will backhand too deep into the Montreal zone. Efforts. Suzuki, who takes the hit but makes the play Sharon Rockets and a head room in the middle of the iced coffee across the line with Anderson, who pitched boards behind the net. McDonough there for the Lightning moves it quickly. The 11 year veteran Otto Wisconsin got it as far as the corner and Brayden point puts it back for turning turn it going to be flushed from behind his own net. Now lightning trying to finish changes so they'll get it deep. And they get it deep from the wrong side of the red lines, so that is icing. Ryan McDonagh, who has been on the ice for a long time trying to make a pass and was ready to make a change at the same time, but missed on the past and now has to stay on the ice here and sure knack of Had a long shift to say believe slight, slight advantage for Montreal as they get some fresh players on the ice stall out to take the face off a long time. Corn in the lightning side and from his years in Carolina in his career in the regular season stalled 75 points in 75 games against the light doesn't have a point. Yet, though, in this series and Certainly could use him to get hot. Armenia gets it back to the point long shot, looking at the far post for stall and very nearly got away from Vasilevskiy. That was Weber. We made the pass uplifted back and the Lightning's Joseph Matthews Joseph gets to It drops it back and Tyler Johnson coming in late off the glove of price and out of play a golden opportunity. Turned away by Carey Price. We remain scoreless in the first of Game five in conjunction with NBC Sports. You're listening to the Stanley Cup Finals on Sports USA. We'll be back after these local messages..

"I was a little backhand past. The good drove that Anderson had hit his skate or good one would have had a break away from just inside the Montreal blue line. So we have four on four hockey for 37 seconds. And then the lightning are going on the power play for the second time in the game, Muhammad time left in that person. Base 37 seconds. Okay. Oh, yeah, There it is. Geno and Gordon, the right of Carey Price, one by Gord Circuit job is able to hold it in. Got it away from Evans circuit chip high slide right to get gored. Centering pass. Missed. Everyone ricochets out of the zone. Shoot that instead of passing into Gordon inside, Here's Coleman up middle circuit chip across the line of Gord, Right Circle. Great corner circuit, Kev. 18 players down. Slow to get up. It was Tyler Toffoli big hit on Suzuki, two behind the Montreal Petri Scott parents to get past the center ice hit to Foley. That could have been too many men on the ice. Zucchini, just dumps it down the ice, and that should be an icing. They decided not to call it. So both sides maybe getting away with some Paul's that are not being made. The lightning are now on the power play for a minute, 20. Edmonds got the puck in the lining and Outside feet. Stamp goes mishandles. It gets it back for Hedman at the Lightning blue line. Heading into the red line. Right wing Cirelli crossed the line. He gets checked in Chalon. Well, bang it down the ice 12 left in the lightning power play. Victor Hedman. Right wing Cirelli to center ice back for Hedman across the bull line will feed the Stamkos left circle punches across a Cirelli lets it Go to point Right circle. Cirelli under pressure feed trough, Right circle, Looking for point in front Blocked scattered again. Right Circle 44 on the power Play right corner. Cirelli, Right, Socotra. I slide. Hedman Hedman left circle shoots a price and the whole time Canadians like you mentioned this bill. They are really packing it in close to price way close to price their packing in. It's got to be open. In that slot area about 25 ft. Inside the blue line and above. 25 ft. Outside the Blue Line. There are zones sorry. Fill up in the power play big draw Cerulean Evans for the right of price. One by the Lightning point.

"Joe Micheletti, John Oliver and Emily Arena. The Canadians on their first power play of the game in a scoreless game five John Rueda offer a cross check at 7 19. Canadians have to go back into their own goal in coming over and Coleman very nearly. It's a short handed goal. He's got it again in trying to pitch Forks, backhander wide and Jeff Pizza, trying to settle things down for the 1st 20 seconds of the Montreal power play, which has been fairly ineffective in the series is equally ineffective. Canadians just one for seven on the power play, but they're making soft plays, jokes and they're getting outworked by the penalty, killing the lightning round. For sure, they thought Montreal thought that Tampa Bay was just going to clear the ice, clear the puck down the ice and the first one, Tampa Bay didn't try to make a play. And they did. The Goldman Suzuki fires it hard around and into the Tampa Bay zone. McDonough pops into the front of the net. Nobody home but Anthony Cirelli of the Lightning and he'll Isis. We've got a penalty coming up behind the plate. Is it coincidental minors? Let's listen. 81 got minor interference. 94 about two minutes embellishment, So it's an interference call on Sure knack and embellishment call on Perry. So it is coincidental Minors at 8 15 Peri Peri slammed the penalty box gate as he went into the penalty box. He didn't like it sure, not just came over and gave him a shoulder to the chest, and Perry went down. And the officials felt that he embellished to call enough to even things up Joe. To me, It's the age old conversation. We can talk about it all night long. How can it be both? It's either one or the other, but it is both because that's the call it does not affect. The manpower situation remains a five on four power play for the Canadians and Anderson offside as he tries to pull a pass from behind him back into the Tampa Bay zone. The Canadian power play still has 48 seconds left joke, but it does not look sharp. No, it hasn't. You know, this is a power play that that hasn't hasn't really looked all that sharp throughout the series. They got some young players on there. And you know, we've spoken so often about the Montreal penalty killing. Tampa Bay's is excellent as well. Now Anderson and Coleman jostle at the edge of the circle, exchanging short cross checks. The officials have to come over draw the old line in the back seat like on vacation with your brother or sister never works. No, it doesn't was going to say we'll see if it works, but Remember, the retaliation is always what Mom and dad caught. And here comes Coleman off the face off. He had a chance to come in short handed. But he's caught by Anderson is going to take a penalty that hooking call and Al Coleman saying it should be a penalty shot. He's all the way back at his own movie, but he's got a point. Did he have a breakaway and so cemetery so Tampa Bay makes makes the play. They try to clear it goes off a glove and slows down. And so Coleman is able to try to reach out and he loses control and trying to control it with his right escaped and that didn't work. So the game is being called tightly. You know, I'd go so far very safe. Would you consider that a pretty good penalty? Because if Anderson doesn't take that penalty, your point, I think Coleman, who's got great speed off to the races on a breakaway for sure. So it's four on four for the next few seconds as the lightning people fuckin and served Check trying to get it back from board had his stick lifted. It angles off the boards and back out center right shots. 10 2 in favor of Tampa Bay. Montreal Power play did not even produced a shot on goal before they took the penalty there by Anderson at 8 43. How Suzuki wiped out by Coleman Coleman's been all over the ice. Been the best player on the ice in this first period. He has points in every game in this series. And now Tampa Bay wanted one appellant. Too many men on the ice Suzuki on his way to the back. Edge. The puck just appeared in front of him went off the skate of a teammate that was going over the boards, and then he just dumped it in the rest of the way. I don't think it was too many men on the ice, and there's nothing else the officials agree with. Hedman handles it. Sentara is Tampa Bay Seconds away from going on their own power play now on their second power play of the game as the Canadian sweep it away, and Hedman has to come back and get it. That's another example. Cirelli gets it right at the blue line, carries it over the blue line, and immediately he's attacked. He loses the puck. Montreal clears it. Hedman brings it in for stand post wires it around and Cirelli battling with Byron to try to keep it alive. Future. AW, made a little pump pass into that bump position in the middle. Got it right back from point now has it right circuit out high. Hedman capitalists takes a wrist shot doubled up by Carey price Now that time Tampa Bay was able to get set up and when you draw has it that's when he becomes so dangerous. So he's on the right side, and he's looking for either a plate of the middle of play down on the side of the net. But this time you got it to Hedman on the left point, have been walked in and initially decided to take the shot because Cirelli was directly in front of Carey Price. But Cirelli took a step to the side price was able to see the shot. Make a safe rally wins the ensuing faceoff to the right of price stuck on the end boards. Evans didn't get it out shot passed by him. And the boy was looking for future off the right post, and he didn't connect hustling the other way. Evans trying to split the defense shorthanded, and he's written off the puck in the left corner. Now by Hedman dying Seconds of the power play, 10 ticks remaining. The man advantage point across the line. Trump Sutra back to feature off his pass deflected towards the Net, capped away by Carey Price and collected by the Canadians to know clears the zone. That'll do it. Out of the box. Anderson and the Canadians full strength, so Tampa Bay over two on the power play, and they turn it over at Senate. Here's Suzuki on his own into the Tampa Bay Zone strips to the left corner wanted the centers of the far post. But that came gored to intercept that. It stood out by the lightning. This go all the way back in the Montreal ice. First man on Heathrow rolls it slowly to the side of the Net, and Carey Price scoops it up. He'll hang on just under nine minutes to go. In Game five first period in Tampa, no score between the Lightning and Canadians in conjunction with NBC Sports, You're listening to the Stanley Cup.

"Josh Anderson scored his second of the game in extra minutes and the Canadians avoided lightning sweep Monday night taking game four by a three two score that has managed to shut down the lightning's power play unit during a four minute my interests as the captain Shea Weber late in the game for high sticking penalty carried over in overtime and Tampa Bay only managed four shots Anderson's first period goal marked the first time the Canadian strike first in both territory in the series we didn't want to end it tonight in front of our fans you know we we expect to go to camp tomorrow I think everybody in the locker room death the difference in this one Carey price returning to superb form blocking thirty two of thirty four shots the lightning will look to win the final on Wednesday night in Tampa L. "That Celeski give Perry All right. The Lightning win the D Zone faceoff. Gord, one at Coleman clears important final four minutes in the first year. The Canadians have had very little going in the first, but now they got the spark from the goal at center ice Atari like and dumps it in the lost it by the just knocked it away from Evans. It looked like he was gonna have an open net. Just said always good row, right When Eric turn AC Sirnak rips it in. I stopped by the march on it to Romanov in the near corner of middle. Jake Evans. Amazing what confidence does for you. Here's Evans busting into the lightning zone, Left circle, centering feed in on Vasilevskiy knocks it away and plot grabs. Lot bounces for Brandon Point Point to center ice backhands it in Canadians look like a different team since the goal. Shea Weber winds the puck around the near side. We have a whistle here, he's going to call Evans and point to work I saw, Yeah. They were Evans wouldn't stop. It was at the blue line, and he pushes him and pushes them again on monetary Rafi. Interesting. They decided to call that Phil interference in Russian. That role point. Fascinating, Mr Handsome Daddy got to just quick enough away from Evans. Evans. One goal in the playoffs came into play in which he was injured against limping into an empty net, and he almost had another goal into an empty nap. At that time, it was Goalie on the ice. Yeah. Alright. So full on four hockey for the next two minutes, no point available for the lightning. China was thrown out of the draw against Cirelli. So Suzuki and Sara Lee to the left of Carey Price. One by the Lightning at the center point. Hedman CenterPoint circuits out shoots that hit a trough, draft tracks and right circle off his stick comes out of the zone. Hedman gathers in neutral ice left wing circuit, Kev. Back for Victor Hedman will drift by the Lightning network left wing circuit chat. And Alec comes to Anthony Cirelli.

"Went back behind him. Remember to play the other night when Victor Hedman got the things got things going and they end up scoring early. Victor Hedman does the same thing. Montreal look comfortable coming out of their zone. Victor had been the defenseman at the left point stays in. He pokes the puck away. Now he's got it. He gets a shot on goal that gets deflected. Carey Price has to make us safe, and then he has to make a couple more on the scramble after that's just chaos. After that faceoff win for Cirelli is again the Lightning have the haves hemmed in their own zone. Cirelli behind the net, bumped there by Chara and shot dropped his stick. So Cirelli whips it around. Waiting at the right point is Eric Turner. He throws it to the network went off the skate of the defender Sherrod in front and made that more difficult for price, and maybe it needed to be Canadians live to talk about it, and Sherrod brings at the center and wires it in Vasilevskiy stays put and out of the right corner. Gallagher wins the puck try to feed it across the slot, but it was intercepted in front by chair net. Tonight's had a great final series already has 10 points in these playoffs. Lightning unable to clear the zone, however, and Dino keeps it into the left circle for to Foley in the corner. He's taken out by turn AC, and that allows McDonough to move it ahead. Done. A plus six in this series goes for a change. Cirelli sends it in from the blue line, and the Lightning will finish that change as it's gloved down by price for Sharratt, then Sherrod has a couple of points in three games in this series. After not having a point the entire playoffs head Mans the puck into the Tampa Bay zone off the stick of Evans, and it's collected behind the net by Braydon points point for the Lightning pulls up those across off the skate of surrogate, Kev and then his pass deflected out of Played by the stick of our Turi Lechner. Montreal trying something a little bit different to start this game. They're trying to stretch out the Tampa Bay Lightning. Florida did that in in round number one and did a good job. Because Tampa Bay's a team that likes to defended layers. They don't like you to get to the for your own blue line, Then they don't like you to get to the red line. Then they don't like you to get to your blue light, so they continue continually. Force the issue until Montreal here in the early going is trying to stretch him out trying to get the defense in the backup. They're sending forwards down to the far blue line to try and accomplish that both fourth lines on the ice as the lightning able to get it in, and it eludes price behind the Nets. Johnson trying to get it back to maroon, but it's poke loose, and Perry protects the puck whips it into the middle of the ice on the backhand. Cool AC up on the rush had his past knocked back behind him, So he retreats defensively. Now it's into the corner install, tried to get it across the Perry, A good stick from David Savard denied that Kept in at the right point, however, by Kulak again to the front of the net and trying to get there was Army A, but he was upended Johnson wheels to the corner with it got to the line. Edmondson kept it in with escape. Then it's nudged passed him by Patrick Maroon popped into the middle of the ice and Johnson caught in the back checked by stall who takes one hand off the stick to make sure he doesn't take a penalty. Everybody kind of held their breath in the building, didn't he? One more so than Joel Edmundson. No penalty called and now it's Edmondson Rockets at ahead at center off the stick up to Foley barely inside.

"Well, I trailed his home looking to avoid a sweep by the defending Stanley Cup champions from Tampa Bay and hopefully send this thing back to Florida and then see what happens. But Tampa Scored 13 goals in three games against tabs goalie Carey Price, and he'll get the start again tonight because he's carry price. And because he's the reason the halves are here in the final, price says he needs to be better and the numbers agree with him. He's 12 and five with a two point Oh two goals against and a 9 34 save percentage during the rest of the playoffs. But oh, and three in the final with the 4 39 goals against and an 8 35 save percentage and his numbers against the Lightning all times. Simply not what he's usually all about, As in only winning six of his last 27 7 straight losses and the guy who beat price twice in Game three. Tampa forward Tyler Johnson, who's waited his turn to get the praise he deserves for his regular contributions to the club. He was stoked just to help out while doubling his output in goals. During this postseason to four. Well, I mean, it's awesome. Any time you can help the team contribute, and, um, you know, we're obviously 11 way now, So it's all we really focused on. You know we're working together as a team on it, and you know we're trying to create something special, and Johnson stressed after Game three that pressuring the haves throughout is what's making the bolts more successful against them. Well, we don't want to sit back, especially the nature's own. I think Montreal does a really good job of being able to create stuff in the neutral zone, creating some speed on entries and, um, you know, we had to try to force their d a little bit and I thought we got better as the game went on. We talked about it in that second period there. We have to do a better job of it. So Uh, you know, I think that was big. I think you know a lot of it's just our team, you know, wanting to be on the attack, and you know, kind of being close. So you know, we're just We're just trying to go for it. It's pretty special to hear of Johnson's relationship with the only pro coach he's ever had. And John Cooper. There's a reason Tyler Johnson's trophy cases. Fairly full, and it's because he's a Ultimate team player. He's selfless and there was a time. In this organization when We need to take another step, and Tyler Johnson was one of the leaders of that. And he's just carried that on For years now and Um, you.

"You know, Pittsburgh skate around in Nashville with the cup hoisted painful, Emily you mentioned this is a chance at a second straight. I mean, at some point, do we start having a conversation about Tampa Bay that involves, like words like dynasty. Yeah, You know, it's crazy because after they won the last one, all everyone was saying is like, well this offseason going to be so hard for them. They're not going to be able to bring everyone back. This might be it in their chance. And lo and behold the confluence of events of Nikita Kucherov getting that hipster during December 29 so that they didn't have to move anyone. Tyler Johnson going on waivers twice unclaimed that look, he's being a big contributor. The Stanley Cup final. They made it work and this offseason again, they're going to have to deal with these same questions. But maybe there's another confluence of events where, yes, they can figure it out and win once again, So I do think that this team that we're seeing now is a manifestation of years. Honestly, a decade of strong drafting, and I'm count management Julian Greece plot their GM, but it's also his predecessors advisor Man. I think that's the name that anyone who doesn't even know hockey probably should know. He is a genius of the GM. Just as he was a genius as a player, and there are really good teams. There are really deep team and I think they're going to be heck of a competitive team next year. You know, they have to get rid of people. They have a world class talent and the key to Kucherov, Andrei Batalov Ski and Victor Hedman. It's Spain and fit Sarah, Spain. Jason Pitts. We're talking to Emily Kaplan about the chance for the bolts to repeat his champions with the wind tonight, a Stanley Cup final sweep. After all that time that the Canadians had to wait to make it back, and it could be over just like that. I want to drill down on what you just talked about with the surgery and the timing. There are some people who are critical of the bolts and how things have gone this year, perhaps trying to evade the rules and either In order to send this particular team to the final, right. Yes, And you know it's fans doing it. I hear it within the league to. There's a lot of people in the NHL around the NHL. Who say we get it? We understand the rules are what they are with a salary cap. But why did he get this surgery on December? 29th? Why did he get in October? Why did you get in November? Why did he wait until this moment when the lo and behold it was very convenient. And then he came back low and behold, very convenient Game one of the playoffs looking quite dominant could he have played in the regular season? That timeline seemed a little sketchy, But you know Gary Bettman, his three Stanley Cup presser was asked about this at quite defiant, saying We looked into it. The rules are the rules. They've been like this for a very long time. We have no issues with it. And honestly, I don't I don't Think there's anything malicious about it. I don't think there's anything sinister going on. I honestly think it's a confluence of good luck and kind of fortunate event. So where did this all go wrong? I mean, the Canadians obviously came into the entire Stanley Cup playoff. Not favored, right? And Carey Price gets hot. Everybody says Okay, you've got a hot goalie. Where did it go Wrong for price and this Because this was a close game. Game One was a one goal game in the third. It just got out of hand. And it feels like everything sent in has been at a hand. Is there something Montreal could have done differently in your mind? You know For me. The turning point was Game two because that game they actually outplayed the lightning. Significantly. They had a plus 20 shot differential. If you're getting 20 more shots from the other team, you usually win the game. And that was just one of those games were just none of the lucky bounces. We're going in, and all of them were going in for the Tampa Bay Lightning. If I had to think of one turning point in the series, it was Blake Coleman. Good Texas American boy can save us on July 5th nicking this incredible diving goal with just like, seconds left in that second period. If you hadn't seen it, go look it up. And after that, it almost just felt like Montreal was deflated and and James break the fact that they come home. First time in 28 years. They're playing with Stanley Cup final at the Bell Centre. Unfortunately, the Quebec government didn't allow them to have more than 3500 fans. So it felt like a lot and they just came out flat. And I'm like, you know what? It's not their year, they're gassed. This is Tampa based Hey, Emily, Before we let you go, you just pointed out. If you're out, shooting a team by 20 shots a game. You're probably winning that game. It had me thinking I would like you to tell me Which of these is the most prominent and most often used hockey cliche, is it Get pucks on the net, but she just referred to is it calling a stadium? A barn? Or is it a goalie standing on his head? Oh, you know in the organization is all about the process and take it one game at a time. I think the answer is none of the above it fucked deep. Yes, plus deep. They're not even get pucks on net. Wow. I've been out of the game for too long When I covered the Blackhawks in and out in those locker rooms, and at the games I started saying organization and I still do. And people are like, what's wrong with you, Like, I don't know. I just heard them say it too many times. And now I say, organization, but you know what's crazy? What? I'm like, covering a final and I'm around a lot of hockey people. All of a sudden, I just a story. I swear to God. The last couple days have just been saying story and everybody. Yes, Save yourself, Emily. You are the best, my friend. Thank you so much for the inside the expertise and enjoy this process. Hopefully, the the final is a little longer, Just because it means that we get to see more rock. It's really just selfish at this point and talk to Emily more. Yeah. I love it. I love it. No. One, sir, in any games, but I'll take more hockey appreciate. Thanks, Emily. That's Emily Kaplan, ESPN NHL reporter on Spain and fits all right. We got a bunch of stuff we want to get into. "Our Sports USA, Los Angeles Studios or we are most proud to bring you every minute of the Stanley Cup final and we are down to crunch time. It's do or die, or it's golfing season for the Montreal Canadians who trail Tampa Bay 03 in the best of seven final, and only one team has ever come back from dropping the first three games and going on to win the Cup. In 27 tries and 20 of those clubs getting the sweep. And that was the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs over Detroit. And no, I wasn't there. But leaves Captain Syl Apps was and he got to skate off with the Stanley Cup that sits in the building tonight, waiting for the now probable back to back run by the Lightning. Meanwhile, the last sweep in the Cup final was in 1998 when Detroit put away Washington and who is the captain of the wings and their M v p that season? Stevie I Zerman, the man who helped put this Tampa Bay Club on the championship map. So a little trivia for you to play with their as we get you ready for Game four last Friday night, saw the first Cup final game played in Montreal in 28 years in the home team lost 6 to 3. The haves had everything in their favor, except for maybe the rosters. It was the emotional return of interim head coach Dominic Ducharme from Covid Protocol. They had a small but loud and proud, very boisterous 3500 fans in the building and many more outside chanting. We want the cup, but it was Tampa Bay that came out flying, and they not only scored first, but twice in the 1st 3.5 minutes of the 1st and 2nd periods, which was just too much to overcome. For the haves and oh, not only haven't a Canadian scored first yet in this series, but they're yet to get a lead, which is by far when they are at their best 26 giveaways in Game three by the haves after just five in each of the first two games, hardly the recipe for success first time in 12 tries this postseason. Montreal has scored at least two goals in a game and lost Now. It feels like months ago when the Canadians won seven straight and scored first in each of those to get here. Module did get back in the game two with a big first goal of the playoffs by Phillip Danault in the opening period to make it 2 to 1, Tampa and then it was only 1 40 into the second period when the Canadians made one of their too many bad mistakes that may have cost them the game and really the series. Gallagher feeds it across the line on left wing and Lincoln and his angled off good play by Anthony Cirelli. They're allowing them to stretch it. They caught the Canadians on the change a lot. Gets it over and Kuchar off scores. A bad change by the Canadians costs them dearly. It's 31 Tampa Bay and what an alert play. By the Tampa Bay defense again. They've been involved in every goal. John Hollers Joe Micheletti on the call Here on Sports USA. It's been always something from Montreal in this series, and not usually a good thing. What's caused the most are bad line changes that even cause that killer to an old goal uncharacteristic turnovers in bad locations. Odd man rushes galore and They've never had the lead in the series, which has only happened to other times and Stanley Cup final history when it was all said and done, and coach Ducharme has some thoughts on the importance of scoring first now. Well, I think it's huge against anything it would be, uh, something important. At the same time. Cannot stop lying. And you know if you don't score the first goal, so you know, we want to have a good start. I thought, uh, I thought last game we, uh it's not that we had a bad start is just They made us period right away on a on a nice thing and and on the power play. Uh fuck that we to understand. Uh so we need to, uh Managed to start the right way. Come out dynamic, active. Playing our game. And, uh, you know, getting that first goal for sure will be important. And then there's Carey Price, who was standing on his head, with or without a helmet all playoffs long from Montreal. But in this series against the best on the planet, the Habs Future Hall of Fame goalie ISO and three with the 4 39 goals against at an 8 35 save percentage. He's allowed two goals in the first four minutes of a playoff game. For the first time in 87 career starts, and that can't get you one win, let alone a chance to win the cup and he knows the score. Now you don't have a choice. Uh, you know, we've we've overcome adversity all season long. And you know racks are obviously against the wall. So we're going to start bringing our best. Yes, an understatement for sure. And don't ask his coach. If there will be a change in goal for this must win carries a guy playing Monday so If you wonder, or people wonder about who is going to be in that Kerry is going to be in that. And, yeah, you can talk about one guy and another guy. It's about all of us. To borrow all of us. We need to be better in front of him. Everyone all 20 guys putting on the jersey you know, are looking for Monday night playing their best game, that's it. And so how are some of price's teammates sounding now that their backs are super glued against the wall? Well, Brendan Gallagher was actually asked if he can take any positives from that disastrous game three loss. You just have to Correct the mistakes. I mean, it's your here. I'm not gonna sit here and take a whole lot of positive. We We believe we can play with these guys. We believe it since Game one. We just haven't shown it enough now for a full 60 minutes. Uh, you know, we've had we've had spurts where we've you know, everything We've talked about. Everything we've done is work. But there's just been mistakes in our in our game. And, um, you know, we're playing too good of a hockey team. They're you know, they're deep everywhere. They're going to capitalize. Gonna make you pay. Uh, so you know, the positives are this This team has been In many holes. This change been doubted, but the character in that locker room isn't going anywhere. That's something that, uh, we're going to keep competing. Keep playing. In terms of how the games are being played. We need to get better. Sorry for the possible record amount of cliches ahead, But here they come, as expected under the circumstances. Josh Anderson, What's your mindset to stay positive? Um, you know, we're here for a reason. And, um, obviously, we've dug ourselves a little bit of a hole here and, um, the mood slight right now. And, um, we have a job to do, and we're gonna Do everything we can to, um, stay in this thing and fly out Tampa and on Tuesday, so everyone just getting prepared for tomorrow night's game, and, um, we're all going to compete and work hard and put off full effort in Of course, Tomorrow night is now tonight and many moons ago, I was the radio voice of Wisconsin hockey and their leader, then badger. Bob Johnson had some wonderful sayings. Not sure if this was his or not, but what should be hanging in the Canadians locker room right now became a championship slogan and Madison 60 minutes. No alibis. No regrets when we already know it's a great day for hockey because it always is, and even more so, with the perfectly shined up Stanley Cup in the building, along with our.

"Everybody listening, and you hear that sound drives does that sound again? Sounds like lightning. It sounded like goal by lightning. That's Carey Price. Hell, yeah, they were twice time strike past price last night. I mean, the lightning are just making the Canadians for at least these first three games. Look silly. That's why I'm wearing my my practice jersey tonight, Okay, because it just seems like the Lightning was just going out there doing scrimmage games like it's been nothing, man. It's fun right now. And you don't want to get too comfortable or too cocky. Maybe you're right. But, um, that's what I'm nervous about. Like. That's why I don't want them to go to a game five. I'm like just crushed their soul. Yeah, take care of business. We are having to watch party. There's plenty of summer Everything's opened up for them to hang out with us just crush their soul. Yeah, It's the right thing. Before the series started. There was a French Canadian writer, and I wish I remembered his name. And he said, Hey, Tampa, we're coming for your cup and for good measure your baseball team and I love Montreal because it's like, you know, Take the baseball team. Take it. Take it. Yeah. You know what we say that Because it was the first time But as soon as the Rays leave, we'll all be crying in our milk. I will. Yeah, I mean the race. Look, the organization doesn't treat us well, but the organization puts out a good squad every year. That's how I feel. Editors Squad God bless the players, the players and the baseball operation Side. Fantastic. They do a great job. Um, but that team should never go to Montreal. I just think when you're in a game seven of the World Series, you should maybe not go by the math and just keep your picture in San Diego right now. It's working out well, but we have somebody on the phone line who know much more about that. Yeah. He knows about sports. And and then the the guy, Uh, Todd, right, Making an appearance back on the micro radio show. Welcome, Todd. Thanks for giving me something to do since I cannot play golf today. Can't be too much fun. I might and hi, Denise. Denise, wherever you are, Uh, we're not sure what's going on. We don't know what's going on. Could be board operator error or join me. I don't know you, Corey. You tracked, but yeah, no, I totally Texas. Oh, jeez. Anyways, enough about us. How are you doing, Todd? Doing well, and, uh, I like how Greg Wolfe, who I've been to. Not only did I go down to sunrise for what I think was the Lightning's worst game, the Game five where they could have clinched and put away the Panthers. Was at that game and sunrise, and they scored on the opening shift against the rookie goaltender who I think it's a funny story because the Panthers Lawson six, he was able to go to his prom. Had that series gone seven. He couldn't have gone to his prom. That's how desperate the Panthers were, even though they pay roughly $14 million to two other goaltenders. Um so I think that was their worst game in sunrise, but I've been to four the watch parties the last three rounds. And Greg Wolfe keeps that engine going during the watch parties and he said last night before the pre show. The cool part is that the watch parties You still get the full Stanley Cup final pre show that you get if you bought the ticket to game one or game to which is very impressive, and considering the ticket is $10 compared to what everybody paid for Game one in Game two. Not bad. Greg made the point. There were 3 to 4 times more people in the arena in Tampa last night, then in the arena, watching the game in Montreal last night, who some people were paying an average of $11,000 a ticket to go to the game out there in Montreal. There's this one idiot who put, uh had a sign is on hockey collective on Instagram or hockey Players Collective on Instagram. I missed the birth of my child to be here for the game tonight. And I just wanted to reply back. Your child's going to hate you for the rest of your life. And if it's a girl, she's gonna have a trove of guys just to get even with you by any issues, right on the pole, Yeah Strip proposal and everything. But Hey, it's a were up three games to nothing. It's a It's a great feeling. We're in the driver's seat. Todd. Do you think that should the Lightning win, which it seems almost inevitable, But you can never tell him sports these days. Should the lightning win and go back to back? You know, the race had success and went to the World Series last year, the Bucks defending Super Bowl champion. Do you think people are gonna hate Tampa Bay from if they're outside of the Florida region? I think there already is. Some of that. I mean, other than in Los Angeles, because as I did on the Todd, right podcast a while back. I said l A could is the only one out there That could make the argument that in pandemic sports This was after the Super Bowl. Actually, I'm sorry. This was after u C L. A made the final four. That they've had as good of a run. Because the Dodgers won the World Series against the race. The Lakers won the NBA title in the bubble at Disney and you see LA made a very unlikely run all the way to the Final four. The big stage, right? In college basketball. Now people in Tampa Bay were immediately dismissive of that unbiased people said Well, yeah, so it's basically been either L a Or Tampa back? Well, here's another step. By Tampa Bay. Adding to the whole I actually thought the whole Champa Bai moniker was kind of cheesy. At first. I've come to appreciate it and like it because it has legs, The more these teams keep winning. And what do we have to go on? And I know the razor in a little bit of a bad stretch right now, And it kind of coincides with Tyler Glass now blowing his elbow out which most major league pictures do when you're throwing 95 96 97. But the Rays look like a playoff team again. The Bucks have all 22 starters back. Yes, you're you're getting this sense around the country. People are pointing at Tampa Bay and coming up with excuses. Why? This market shouldn't enjoy this. This market shouldn't have this. There was the big cat at barstool is one of those. It's just blatant. Jealousy is all it is all it is right now last week, if you recall when you texted me about the open of the show, we were going after Geo Gianotti who is up well done. Um And you're the right guy with your roots to do something like that, right? I mean, you look at it. I mean, New York. You have two basketball teams. You have technically three hockey teams, because if the Devils do well, they count the New Jersey Devils as part of their own up there in New York. You have two baseball teams. I mean, and you have all the money that you could throw it. Everybody and you haven't won a significant championship. Since what the Yankees in 2000 and nine That was the last one Giants giants, But that was 2000 and 8 2012. They came back around. Thank you for that, Ryan hoppy. So that's all you have. And then you have Tampa Bay, which we only have three sports teams, and the Bucks have won two Super Bowls, just like the Giants have in that span. The razor have been two more World Series since 2000 and eight Then the Yankees have and the lightning or better in the Islanders, Rangers and Devils combined. Yep, since the cup, So it's like, Come on, you're going to you're going to rank on Tampa Bay, which also has Let's see 23 about 17 million people in and around New York City, as opposed to we have about four million here If you count Lakeland, Sarasota, Come on. Oh, it's so petty And I wish as I was listening to you say this and laugh..

"And it was my findings students. You know most teams kind of side with the Sabres on this one, as far as their approach to the injury, and that kind of that, you mean your question is what complicates things. I think that complicates things because Jack and his team obviously have a certain thing in mind for what they want to do. The injury and it may not necessarily square with the team that acquires them. But like you said, I think a trade of this magnitude, um and and a transaction of this magnitude necessitate. Due diligence and lines of communication opening between the player and a perspective new team in ways that they don't normally do for a trade. So I'm sure this will all be sussed out well before any deal is struck, because the last thing a team wants to do It's required Jack Eichel and he's still miserable, you know, with with the situation at hand. Few more minutes here with Greg Wyshynski from ESPN. Longtime, uh, NHL reporter. He's on the West her hotline with us, Um, but let's shift our focus. Enough of that. I won't. I won't. I won't waste our time trying to figure out who the Sabres goalies might be next year, Greg Um, the final So far. I thought two very different games. Montreal played their game in Game two and had that backbreaking last second goal at the end of the second period after really dominating the period that it was much more their style game in Game two, but the result was still the same. So obviously a lot. Lot of pressure for them tonight to try to get back in this series. Yeah, And that's a great point. And it's a great point. Why the lightning are so good is that they are comfortable winning eight. Nothing as they are winning one Nothing, which is two results they had in the same series against the Islanders, as you remember, And so when Montreal does take over a game and when they play well, The lightning can kind of downshift and play a different style and not get flustered by not being able to do things offensively that you know, like we saw Vegas like lose their minds against Montreal because of the way Montreal was playing right so That's just the adaptability, this lightning team that makes them so dangerous. But for me, the story of the first two games is Montreal's offense, like they played to a one goal deficit engaged for what, like seemed like forever in Game one. In Game two again beginning of the third period. The Coleman goal was a backbreaker, but that's still a one goal game, and they simply couldn't find that extra goal to nodded up to change the complexion of the game to send it to overtime or whatever. And I thought the key to the game, actually, if you remember in Game two They had a four on three power play for like a minute 55 at the end of the first period, and I mean not only didn't convert but weren't even dangerous on it. And you cannot squander those opportunities against a team like Tampa. So To me the story of the first two games with Montreal's inability to get that one goal they needed. And a lot of that tracks back to the difference in Game two, which is Andrei Vasilevskiy, and right now he's out playing Carey Price. You're playing like an M V. P and the Lightning just have so much wind in their sails in these series because they know they have the best goal in the world behind them. Yeah, they are such a well rounded team. I mean, go figure They won the cup last year there in the finals here up to nothing. So what does that to even say? But I think you know the goalie is obviously excellent. Their ability to play defense like I noticed this even in just games against the Sabres the last couple of years, you know, laugh if you want, because the sabers I'm making this point about, but Tampa's defense to me is big and hard to get through, like, I think they're very tough to get second chance opportunities against just because physically they are. They're hard to get through. I mean, you got to play a well rounded game in the NHL on defense. You gotta be able to skate and move the park. Obviously, that's at a premium. But they have. I think just the right mix surrogate Kevin Hedman, maybe as the best examples of guys who can really wheel and play offense, but our big hard bodies to beat in front of the net. Yeah, absolutely. And you know, they added David Savard, that group from the blue Jackets. He kind of fits perfectly within that that you know mindset, too. But for me, the story about them defensively is as a team concept and It's one of the great stories behind their success as a team in the last two seasons, which is that you know that they were a team that was always on the cusp of looking like a championship team. They had like the best regular season record in decades, and some such That one year and then they lost the blue Jackets in the first round. They got swept by Columbus. And it was at that moment when Cooper their coach, Jon Cooper, got their attention and said, Look, we can score. But you can't keep playing like you want to win every game. 5 to 1. You've got to be able to play a game where you win it 2 to 1, and you could see their maturation as a defensive team. Especially when it comes to the playoffs in the last two seasons in the bubble, they played really good defensive teams and played them tight and won those games this year. Like I said, they can beat. You ate nothing, but there are just as adept at winning one Nothing. And it's that commitment to team defense and their ability to do it that just makes put them on another level and again. Montreal is really good, and they're really good at getting you pissed off. And get you frustrated by not being able to do the things you do well, But Tampa's got that ability where if you take something away from them, that's fine. They'll beat you another way, and it's just remarkable thing to watch in the playoffs. Like last thing for you here. I learned watching the run up to Game two the other night that the league had hired a tic tac influence. Influencer. Um you know it. Stop me if you had that on your bingo board for things that that I'd be asking you in in 2021 Stanley Cup playoffs. What were your thoughts on what the league is trying to accomplish and whether They're sending the right message with, you know, inclusion and hockey is for everyone and that sort of stuff by hiring this guy That's got some baggage. I I'd say. Yeah. His name is Josh Richards. He's got, I think. 25 million followers on Tiktok. I think in totality for social media, he's got like 40 million followers. Um and you know, I did whatever he reporter does when, when a tick tock Stargate tired with the NHL. I asked my 11 year old daughter. What's up with this kid? Even earlier this year last year, I forget. Um, And it was it was bad and and, you know, having an association with bar still comes with a lot of baggage in but in particular, having an association with the importantly has a lot of baggage and this kid as a podcast with them, so I completely understand that and what I've been trying to tell People in the hockey community is that.

I mean, has had problems over the years of misogyny and You know, having their followers go after people in the hockey community. They had a whole situation with the National Women's Hockey League. Even earlier this year last year, I forget. Um, And it was it was bad and and, you know, having an association with bar still comes with a lot of baggage in but in particular, having an association with the importantly has a lot of baggage and this kid as a podcast with them, so I completely understand that and what I've been trying to tell People in the hockey community is that You know the majority of this kid's fan base? Is not listening to his barstool podcast. The majority of those kids fan bases on Tiktok and Tiktok is A, um, diverse Young audience that he's reaching. And if you're if you're somebody like me who has been preaching for the last 15 years that in order for hockey to get where I think hockey should be. We got to broaden the tent. Invite more people to the game. Get more people excited about hockey. We need to be a more diverse sand bass, a younger fan base and just get more people excited about it. That this is a guy that knows how to do that. I mean, he's an influencer for a reason and has the audience that he has for a reason. And he's a legit hockey fan. How much money has the NHL thrown at people who don't care about hockey but are just famous. Right, like this kid's famous within his social circle, But he also cares about hockey's from Ontario. Like he's village, it hockey fans. So I think at the long story short like I think we as hockey fans had to acknowledge that, Yeah, it's not great that he's associated with brands that, you know, have the reputation they do in the half of the reputation that do for a reason, and the reason usually it's harassment. But it is also important to recognize that this is the type of guy that could open up doors to new hockey fans that we constantly beg for someone to open and I think we have to take that into account, too. All right, well done. Greg really enjoyed the time as always, and best of luck with everything, and we look forward to, uh, to our next visit. You got it. Thanks for having me. Alright. "Sided. Montreal and Montreal. Looks like they did in Game two against Vegas. Everybody said Vegas is going to win. This in four or five shots in the second period are 16 to 2 in favor of the Montreal Canadians. Here's Blake Coleman for Tampa Bay through center into the Canadian zone. Boudreau on right wing peels back in the corner gives it the turn AC at the point his pass up the boards pops into the middle and Suzuki just rolls it slowly back to neutral life. McDonough is there to play it turn aka head, Coleman tried to pop it into the middle. But Shea Weber denied that and again, it's played back into the Tampa Bay zone. No icing as McDonough forced all the way below his own goal line, winds it around and Yanni Gord gets the handle. He tries an area pass ahead for Coleman, but that's icing as it was well off the mark. And once again, the Lightning not allowed to make changes, and Luke Richardson will get the matchup he wants. Tampa Bay just hasn't had the puck game number one rating point had the puck the whole night. So did Kucherov. So did door. So did a bunch of their other players. But in this game, they've hardly had time to make a play. The pressure is four cement icings, and there's another chance. Stall wins the face off and a penalty coming up to the Canadians were going to get an interference. Call on your well are mere maybe a high stick. They come over and they checked Blake Coleman for blood. It is a high stick. Armenia making his case, but he'll make that case on his way to the sin Bin. Well, the face off was in the Tampa zone to the right of Vasilevskiy. Montreal wins another face on penalty number 42 minutes for high sticking and as Coleman tries to get through to the point where the puck went Armenia was lined up on the boards. He came across to the top of the circle after his shot was blocked. He got his stick up right across the face of Coleman, who went down. And Tampa Bay's. We'll get a power play with 3 22 remaining in the second period, their third man advantage of the night. They are over two in the face off to the right to carry price. Maybe they can get some momentum or at least give a rest of vasilevskiy for a couple of minutes. Hedman walks the line. The loan defenseman out high now serves it over its trough in the right circles. Down low gets it back from Cirelli heading out high against Trump into the middle for pointing to save made by Carey Price. It's so hard to defend Kucherov..

"You think, Keynes and no brainer Because I'm I don't. I don't think he is, but I think I would lean to Yes. I think we named the three that are the no brainers. And from there there are solid discussions. You want a defenseman in here was Erik Karlsson. Generational. No. Was is I mean, look, I'm trying to think of a defenseman who was generational, right? That's right. I mean, now we're you know, we're getting to like the old Bobby Orr discussion. I don't know that I have a guy stronger. No, No, I don't have laws Keep going or is Lidstrom. Lidstrom. Yes, that's your best bet I think. Yeah, right. Lidstrom? Yes. Yeah, That's your best that good that long the best at what he did? Yes. No, Chelios, Um Bork. It would be the next guy would nominate no on board, huh? So Jesus, let's get some text on this other other names is pretty good Names coming Intense Hman, Obviously. Rasmus dulling, Um Boy. Who else? Jonathan quickly of defenseman recently have gone into the hall. I mean, I know that Al McInnis no, um, we're missing. I feel like we're missing some defenseman really badly. Nobody from Pittsburgh like now, am I going back to like coffee? Uh, he's not generational. No. Yeah, I don't know. But I think a defenseman is a harder discussion. Um, I love the Kaine discussion. That's really it. I'm really struggling with that one. I I I think he is, but I can't. Yeah, it's not a slam dunk. Uh, Here's a text. Zidane, Achara. No. Mm hmm. Club. I wouldn't take him over Lidstrom. No, I agree. Uh, I just wouldn't I mean generational. It was your really, really you're talking about again. How often does that guy come along? Only char was a freak show. Obviously, usually don't find six FT seven defenseman who are like him. All right. Ciara, huh? Let's go to goaltender. Harsh. Yes, Yeah, There's no question Hashtag Long Quist. No. No, because I mean, Mike Richter was a really good golly for the Rangers to his numbers hanging up in the rafters. No, it's not going to retire. Long question. Oh, for sure, he'll be retired. But that doesn't make you generational. Yeah. You know, you can be a great player of your number, retired and not be generational at your job, carry prices and no, no, he was drafted fifth. Overall, There's there's like that's almost like the Eichel conversation has carry price lived up to the billing. Of the fifth overall pick right. He's supposed to be Marc Andre Fleury was the first overall pick. Yeah, because Cary Price often has been the face of their franchise and had some great not lately but has had some phenomenal seasons. Yes, I think he's lived up to what the building was freedom. Yeah, I mean, he's Into the All Star game. He won the Hart Trophy. That's pretty good for a goaltender, and there have been years where they made the playoffs, chiefly because of Carey Price He's not once won the Vezina Mhm. You get drafted fifth overall. Best goalie, you know, blah, blah. No visit us. Has. You know, Mark Country floor is a tough one. There. Generational Goalies, um, Tajik and it's wok. Yeah, And I mean, does broad or get this treatment. I know right like that. I think I don't think so. Martin Brodeur cannot be generational, right? Don't think so. I don't. I mean, we're talking rarefied air at their position. And I know he's got I get it. He's got the cops and we got some defenseman being texted ahead. Scott Niedermayer, No. Alex Pietrangelo. No Scott Stevens. No. Brian Leetch. No, no, He's really, really good. But again, generational is a big step. It's a really lofty thing. You can be amazing and it's no like we said No. One. McKinnon. Yeah, And he's great. Amazing. We're talking like one of the best ever to play at your position makes you like Ovechkin obviously and Crosby, right? Those guys are generation. I think a texter has it right. It's one of the best in 20 years isn't a generation 20 years. Uh, Yeah, I guess that's about 30 tops. The idea is How long it takes you to have kids. Yeah, That's what I'm saying. 20 years 30. You can get to 30 have your first kid and that's the next generation some 30. I'm stretching 20 to 30 year window, then that's how good you have to be. No. And Lidstrom's in that window. Yeah, I think lynched him is the best out of everybody We named unless you're a fan of Ray Bork. Thanks for the text. I mean, I think it's a Good point to bring up. And I mean, look at the conversation. We got out of it. Yeah, I think the priority just making big contributions. That's why we That's why we get connected with our fans. That's right. I think that's what's going to hurt if Iculs traded right and we're closing, Let's say we're closing the chapter on the Sabres career, and I don't know what the future holds for him, but I think it be self. He's going to have a great career. What's going to hurt him? Yeah, is you're going to look at and go. Yeah. Okay. You can give me a stat line. 300. What is it 350 something points and 370 or 80 games. And all that libel Baba and they sucked for six years like, but that's not his fault. I mean, he you know if It just seems silly to to attach him to the team failure and say that reflects negatively on Eichel. I don't care about his stat line. I don't care about his hands, his speed his vision. I don't care about the fact when he started rushing up ice, you would move to the edge of your seat. If you're at the arena. I don't care about the T shirts would said, I'm just here to see Jack. I don't care about any of that stuff. Guys. His Sabres career will be linked forever with Failure. It's not his fault, and that shouldn't take away from a tank or him and what he did and how he's got. I'm speaking about him as it's in the past, already how he would be remembered as a Buffalo sabre. He's one of the most talented players. It's the most talented player they had in the drought, but he's one of the most talented players I've seen now. I haven't been here since day one. Okay..

"This German Come on. You know how how much more do you want? If you can't win a serious this year? With all the stars you have with Matthews and Marner and Neil and ER and I know to various getting hurt was a huge loss in Game one. Every you know, every year they seem to have identified. Okay, Well, we We weren't our defense was a good enough so they've gradually made moves over the years to make their defense. Better care. Goaltending wasn't good number. You can't blame Frederik Andersen for this Jello. Campbell didn't play that badly. We need you no more guys who know how to win in the playoffs. Hey, let's go get Spencer, who actually played well in this seriously, Joe Thornton, or no matter what that's part of the hilarious nous of this, no matter what. Stay address each off season, they still can't get past the same point there been years works. The goaltending there been years. When. What this time, I guess it's Mitch Marner, whose is public enemy number one. You know, he hasn't scored a playoff goal in this last 18 playoff games. It's probably tough. That is tough and he's a great player. He had a fantastic regular season. He's immensely Talented. Matthew's only got one goal in seven games, and he's a phenomenal player. That's what that see. That's the thing right to your point about Toronto. Look, I don't want to win. A lot of it's because of our side of the feeling of the rivalry with the sabers in the main police, but there are teams Troubles and don't wear if they're living at the top of my list of in the top three or four of teams that I never want to see. Win another game or ever win a cup again. Boston Philadelphia The Islanders They're all up there, even Pittsburgh. But there's just something about watching the Leafs lose Jeremy. I really love their team. I really do. I think they're fun to watch. I think they've built a really entertaining club. They have some very, very talented players on that roster, and I think they really do a good job. And then something happens and they can't get over the hump in the playoffs, but to lose to Montreal in a seven game, Syriza's when you had just a golden ticket The third round of the puss. You beat the Canadians and guess what, you play the 14th ranked overall team in the next round of the place. They didn't even get to that. I mean, it's crazy. You know now what they do will be really fascinating to see if they if they sit back and go. We're really good. Let's not overreact to this or if they think they've got to get rid of one of the stars or do something to really Shock the roster, so to speak. Fred Tweets in about that Syriza. That serious reinforces my point on how important goaltending is not for the sabers. For some reason, they for some reason, seemed to ignore the problem that has been consistent since Ryan Miller left. And I mean goaltending in a syriza. Sure you don't want carry prices contract? No, no, no, no, no Cary Price the contract by the way, he's played 71 career postseason games. Yeah or 74 they mentioned last night. It's here. It is his 74th start. That's a lot of playoff games for Cary Price He's played Ah, lot of years, but you do not want Cary Price. You do want him in that series, but unfortunately, having him that series on his current contract means that you have him at a $10.5 million, cap it through 2026. There and he's 33. There's a reason Montreal finished. Would you say 16 18 18th. There's a reason they were 24th last year. Part of it is they paid too much money to a goalie. They built from the net. Montreal's not necessarily good. What you getting or seven games. Syriza and your goalie can steal a series like he did. I mean, they've got some good players, too, and they made some nice moves in free agency. But to fully um but Yeah, she Anderson was Henderson right? The points Never. The goaltending is not important. I mean the sabers. Is that a hot take if you were to see you rather have built a team out with Lena Saul, Market, three million and Cary Price of 10. I don't think it is in a serious you'd say Yes, I'd rather have Cary Price. But Carey Price has When he struggled not only in Over long stretches. He had a save percentage a couple years ago. There was, you know. It's one of the worst contracts in the sport. Harry Price right, You just wouldn't want it, but in a seven game Syriza, right, But today, it feels pretty good. See, that's the thing like Jack Campbell. I know he's you know, he got. I'm sure he feels awful. In fact, I think he said he did after the game. The first goal last night was proof. But you can't. I mean, you don't Hey, didn't play badly in this syriza. I mean, they didn't score. The leaves are one of the best offensive teams in the league, and they didn't score again. The to various injury is one of the problems they had their power play was awful. The line, The Matthews Marner Hyman line. Had two goals in the entire Syriza's. I mean, come on. I mean, they didn't lose every game 6 to 5. They were losing games because they were scoring one goal or two goals because their goaltending was good enough to win, But their offense they didn't score. They couldn't be Cary Price. They couldn't score goals. They couldn't score with the man advantage, and they lose three straight games in the back into the serious Why Scored six goals the last three games. Their offense was almost non existent with a 31 series lead Philip that all the line matched up against Matthews and that line that you know Matthew scores better than anybody in the league and one goal in a seven game series. Probably not enough for him, Um, Price. Meanwhile, just getting the numbers here. His save percentage this year this season was 901. It's not that it's not great at all. In the Syriza's Was 9 32 made some big saves last night. He did good chances, right? Right. And, you know, honestly, I think it's it's nice to see him doing well. I mean, he's he's fun to watch. He's likable and all that. That contract is something that kind of, you know for people that are Montreal fans. Maybe you're maybe for Montreal fans kind of defines the idea of having the big goalie. No, thanks. No way. Yeah, especially at his age. Yeah, That's why so Anyway to the point of, I assume you know, the divisions will be back to normal next season, which means the leaves in the sabers will be back in the same division. And that's why I think What they do in the off season is going to be fascinating again if I were them. I mean, I wouldn't get rid of any of the big The Big Four. So to speak, the various Matthews Martyr and Neil and I guess would be in the Big Four. It's a good hockey team, but then stuff happens. First off, it's tough to win in the playoffs. You can run into Ah, Hot goalie In a short series, you can have a bad matchup. You know, whatever key injury can knock a big player out of your lineup there a lot of things that can happen and I just think if if I were Toronto I would hope they don't overreact and feel like they've got to do some major moves to get one of the stars out of here or something like that. And because I think I'm going to assume we're going to hear that, for whatever reason they're not built for the playoffs. But you know what? They've tried Tried everything right? Okay. A few years ago when they lost it was you've put too much on offense, your one sided hockey team Trade. Which cousin who was out last? That's right, Then they bring in big ocean They bring in TJ Brodie. They do a few things right on. Okay. There better there, Right. Well, they need more toughness. They need more grit. Right? You gotta have toughness and grit to win in the postseason. Bogosian. Wayne Simmons was picked up this year. Okay. Well, you know what If we're being honest, it's a lot of former sabers. If you're hoping to be good to a lot of former 74 batters, Yeah, well, then, and then running Jimmy Vesey. That's true, and they moved 33. But then they said, Okay, well, you know, it's the playoffs. We need guys who've experienced playoff success. They know what it takes to win in the postseason. Here's thought.

"I mean, they and you know what They look like If that Syriza's is a game like last night, Montreal's gonna beat them period end of story words that I never thought would come out of my mouth. I mean, honest to goodness. But if they if that Syriza's like they have to skate, they have to keep going at it and what should scare them. And I know we have a lot of leave fans listening. In the area. More in particular. Across the river is is Cary Price look like Cary Price and not carry thrice. I started calling him carry thrice because of his propensity to give up three or more goals. And you know what? He looked like Carey price last night and that that should scare them. That's just scare them immensely. You know, when they already got enough, the pressure of being well made, believes in their head and everything. But, Mac, I want to ask you this is I've been waiting to ask you this all day. If that was you, and that was Corey Perry. Would you have asked him to dance? Because fully knows getting ah lot of heat, like from who Everybody knows it was inadvertent, even fully know, said it was in it from hose again. He From hockey people hawking a lot of hockey people don't know. Don't know. Don't save me like real hockey. People like like like that's a good question was back. People that know the game that because what happened there, and I broke it down earlier is Corey Perry and and Feli. No squashed everything rate there, and even the way Perry sort of like took You took his up becoming, either it squashes everything. It's smoldering the fire. It's whatever like that. Nothing builds up to it. You don't have Cory if Corey Perry wouldn't wouldn't have done that, and it made a bigger deal of it, depending how it is now, if Cory period of the smartest thing and who can you know even it looked like got a few shots. And because it sort of looked like he felt bad, and he started wanted to get the golf gods karma, But, er the golf gods, the hockey gods. Carmen back too much, you know, like To me. That was the greatest thing Corey Perry is ever done as a team player, and I'm I'm exaggerating because he's got to stay on the cops and memorial cups and stuff. But you know what? I mean? He's known as sort of, you know, selfish player and right. You know what I mean? So that wasn't around move that was a respectful The way that they did it. I liked it and I'd like to ask. You know Jody Shelley was on it. It shall not work because hack of a job Who's one of the like the last of the gun slinger, enforcer, guys and stuff, But I just think it just quelled everything down. And then you look Um, because they got the revenge. You know what I mean, like there's nothingto. There's nothing to drive off. And you know what the big thing is Shawn? No fans in Canada. So the fact that there's no fans there that you can't that and that's why Toronto is probably going to suffer more. They play to perimeter where I saw last night. I'm sorry for Are you trying to fans? But I saw that I don't think you can win with the Mitch Marner because he's doesn't have that jam that I see. Like a nick Backstrom have when it comes down to it. Zach Hyman's great inside guy, but they got too many perimeter guys. They're gonna if they're gonna like you said last night wait for that power play and you know Austin. Matt is a great player. But, you know, is he still in which immature to the facto understand that he can't do it all himself and who's going to support him? So I could be totally wrong.
