"They just said. Hey we're not doing a lot of this dialogue we're just gonna look at carey. Mulligan is carey mulligan case gary she was like yeah. It was so awful. I had to stare ryan gosling all day. And she's like we just like it was look and i liked that a lot but i wish there was a little moment of her just being like. Hey i am not letting things happen to me. I'm going to make things happen or at least make my voice or kind of objections. Heard because there's really not a lot of her own. Because i actually started questioning that a little bit as well especially when we stopped getting into the standard of an old like how did these wildly different people end up together. Like you know like how did how did standard were. How did she come to accept him. and i liked oscar isaac god damaged. There's a part of me that's like. I'm really glad that i leave that up to the imagination. Like you know like you can kind of pick to standard being one of those guys who really kind like this year's a relentlessly and cheetahs gives in been like what do you think about that the vagueness of of iran. No i actually as much as i love the movie. I think that's totally valid criticism I think it is. It's one of the small problems with this movie. And as much as i as much as. I think it's really romantic. I will also admit that the romantic parts of the movie are a smaller part of the movie. Like the movies. Not truly about that I think it just pulls the scenes of it it pulls off very well but the movie is not truly about that. It's about a neo noir. Mystery a man trying to fight fight to protect these people. That's what it's really about. So we We only get a little bit of time with that. And i am if i was going to try to defend the movie on the front that About irene being a more shallow character. That's kinda what i would say. I'm like well. It's not as much about their romance even other romances. I think has done really well. However at the end of the day they could just choose to spend more time on her. Like the movie. Could be more about that. And i think i would benefit from that. Geico is like you were saying earlier. Think carey mulligan is really good like she's a she's also got the same kind of range of of Gosling in the sense that she can she can emote in a very subtle way. That i think is very effective She's good and i. I agree i think. He deserves more honestly. Yeah i agree man But look we need women taking care of themselves and movies about the white male savior out there. Dick energy saving absolutely. It's twenty twenty one. Come on we're gonna same back.

"With predictions. Let's start with best picture. Who will win and who should win. Okay i will say this is gonna be a tough year decide. Who will win. Who should win. But i'm going to say no mad. Land will win. This is the khloe. Zhao francis mcdormand. She would make history francis frances dormant for being a best actress and producer. She wins both but saying that one's going to win. But i would really love it if minority is the one that would win. I get who we loved this crean immigrant tales. Even yon has been on air since the walking dead and hit alan kim. His cuteness is only rivaled by eugene. Just complete spelled getty grandmother. I love her everything. She does not going to be a great beaches. Well i have a feeling. Thank you so much for saying that they should win. I'm with you. I know that it probably won't but minority was just such a good picture this year. Okay but we gotta talk about best leading actress. This one is a huge category. Yeah and it's really difficult to because this is incredible competition. I'm gonna go ahead and say that. I believe by ola davis is going to be the one who is going to win. She's queen viola davis. She's been nominated so many times and she has not won on many occasions. When i thought that she should but i think that carey mulligan is actually going to be the one that if it home this weekend chief get on the scene. Young woman with emerald mel. Yeah i really would love if by davis one but it seems after that critics choice when and now last night with independent spirit. Probably going to be carey mulligan. Oh.

"Something that should have been nominated. Yeah is delroy. Lindo considered would be supporting. Because i know he. He he got snubbed or is he. I think most people are putting them in lead lead. Okay so i would say maybe chadwick boseman for defy bloods because he was shorting actor and so I know he's nominated in the lead Lead acting category. But if there was a time for him you know to be in two categories. He'd definitely deserved that one. So but that was a tough category to be honest. I'm i'm sort of not mad about who got nominated. yeah. I'm glad you said that because i could not pick between four things that i thought it should be nominated so many. I had on my list but chadwick boseman also i didn't have but now that you mention it i think was absolutely fantastic in the five bloods and it's hard to pick between those two performances. Which ones nominated before. So absolutely i'm gonna go with an. I'll mention the other three that i was considering. But i'm going to go with ben mendelsohn for baby teeth Which is a under seen movie. I wish more people saw this movie. And maybe that's why it wasn't nominated at the same time That is part of the reason to nominate. Movies is to get more people to see them. along along the same lines though micheal martin from bloody nose empty pockets which is a very unique interesting different kind movie and absolutely worth getting in front of more people Also brian dennehy in his final performance and driveways which is a excellent little drama with a great performance from him and then the last one not as small of film but if if the point of a best supporting actor award is for a performance that stood out and really kind of became something that everybody paid attention to the film for Robert pattinson the devil all the time which is not the best movie but that performance i think is going to be one of the things. We remember twenty twenty. Yeah yeah that makes sense. So let's move on to best actress in a leading role. We've got viola. Davis for ma rainey's black bottom andrew day for the united states billie holiday vanessa kirby for pieces of a woman. Frances mcdormand nomad land and carey mulligan and promising young woman. What do you think should win. And what will win. I really want should win. Vanessa kirby carey mulligan I mean i think she's probably going to be my whirlwind but or possibly for m kind of torn because france is obviously is one think she went twice. Yeah so that could also be like she. Her performances is amazing in in nomad land. But i just feel a. I don't know vanessa kirby in pieces of a woman like that performance. Talk about making a movie you know. And i think that's the only nomination for that movie. And she's since i've watched her in the crown Like i've always remember watching her. That i like the first scene. She had as Princess margaret. And i were being so captivated by her and like oh my like. She's so good. And i glad that she's getting these roles in like People are acknowledging her and so. I'm very happy that she you know. Given the performance. She did in the movie like i hope she should win. But i feel like it might be carey mulligan because it's one of those things again like she's got a nominated before and hasn't won it could be The time for her. So it's becoming an amy adams situation right right so if if there's a time for her to get it. I think it would be with this movie so she will win. In my opinion. I think vanessa kirby is great pieces of a woman. I just don't like the film that much. I think after that truly amazing opening i think. The phone kind of falters. So that was my main issue with that. But i do think she is She is great in it I think should win is frances mcdormand for nomad lands. I think that she just creates a character. That is its own thing but also fits in so well with all of the real people in the movie. And i just think it's just an amazing performance. And she is just she's the best you know. She's so damn good in everything Will win though. I think it's going to be carey mulligan. also. I think it's her year for this. I think if promising limit doesn't take home anything else. I think it's that yeah. I guess the only the only reason i don't wanna give it to. Francis is because if i felt like i could since she is francis mcdermott. And you know who she is. It's like i felt like. I was watching france's interact with the people if that makes sense like documentary type thing and so it took me out a little bit of it. Not not anything she did but like. It's so good. But i don't know i feel like i was not transport you know like i couldn't just because i know who she is. It's sort of like kind of went against her in my book but obviously very good but yeah so who do you think should have been nominated in this category again. I'm really. I'm like all these all these people that i love her from like Period pieces but i wish rosamund pike would have been nominated for. I care a lot Yeah so i. I loved her performance in. I mean she did win. The golden globe Although the going globe is not the best indicator of who will win for the academy awards But that would have been like my fun nominate nomination in in my book because she deserves to and i know she's got in. I think she's got nominated for. I don't know if it's for pride and prejudice. Or maybe i'm making that up but she should Or gone girl. Maybe but i think she was nominated for ganga. I wanna see she was i. I don't do so much research for the show do i but But yeah scores pundit. I people should just be happy. I'm doing an oscars episode. How about that I i will go with should be nominated. I've got a tie here. I could not choose between the two of them. That is in dire for malcolm marie. Which of course i've mentioned earlier. I'm not sure exactly where falls. But i'm pretty sure it would be for this year's oscars and jessie buckley and i'm thinking of ending things which as we've as we've mentioned that movie just completely ignored here but she is absolutely fantastic. And you know like we've talked about as you're re watching the movie and realizing just what charlie calvin is doing with these characters The way that she is playing that character that you know may or may not be what it seems and there's just so many layers to it and she just pulls it off just flawlessly. She's awesome yeah. I think i'm snapping at myself. Because i remember watching that movie and thinking like both jesse should get nominated. And so yeah. You're i completely agree with that when she was overlooked In award season. And i feel like that could also be just because it was like that mid It was a consumer right that he came out and i feel like pandemic times just made it feel like leading up to the ostrich especially since it's like now in april it was just too much of a lag time maybe to build up the hype and continue it and so yeah i think that's a major snobby. Ira well. Let's move on best actor in a leading role we've got rid amid for sound of metal chadwick boseman from our enemies. Black bottom anthony hopkins for the father. gary oldman for manque and stephen for monari. What do you think should win. What.

"Family and mice clean place for entertainment You know the the story of promising young woman for me was something that was important. It needed to be told it needed to show this thing. That happens with knifes guys that people don't think of everything i do. It has to have some kind of meaning the project. I'm going to work one after after this fill is is another project that means something to me. You mean to projects from now or twenty twenty five right the wonderful. That's great. that's great that's great. You know as a blessing. that's wonderful. yeah but picked has demeaned something you know and i love period. I'm a huge fan of period work. i like either going back in time and making it look as accurate as possible so that people can get lost in the story. I'm hoping someday bit you know. Get a call for something. That's futuristic like. Yes that like make my own. I was thinking that. There's not enough futuristic stuff because you know what what can you make up that we don't already have you can like teleporting and that's it. We're a little spoiled in the tech department. I think we got days. I mean got the kid talking about this going to be a day where you're gonna be able to talk to somebody and see them on. Your phone does yet. So jet yes. That's a we are the jonathan's the jetsons yes exactly optima jets or get into next is when our cars which would be great but this project after this one did. Is that period wonderful okay. Another one that's coming up now is not period is its current store which i felt was important but the one after this is period and it involves some social consciousness that i'm very Attached to a wonderful I believe in. Unfortunately we have to be aware of sadly some of the ugly life is yes but that brings me to a question that that i was gonna ask you just for the moms out there. How do you. My son will be twelve. He's a pisces too. So he'll be twelve next week but you know and how do you keep keep him. How do you keep your son innocent. How do your husband and you roll like that. Like because if he watches the news for five seconds. I'm suddenly telling him what you know. Promising young woman's about i'm like what is the words coming out of my mouth. You're so how how do you do it. you know. I think what it is that when he was really young we didn't we like one of the last parents to my give into okay. You can have a phone Really liked late with i wanted. Yeah yeah and then teaching him things lake you don't you don't get on the phone during dinner. Yes manners but i mean it would be weird because we'd be out places in all the kids at the table would be on the phone and he took us and we look at her and then like a mother would say. Oh you know we're gonna recite. We don't do that like we have a meal together. Be meal fashion. i.

"Are there any products or things that you swore by in the that you found yourself going to over and over again yes. There is a company called hostess. Who makes these wonderful tent lip bombs. I used those for kerry when she was her regular chassis character. When she was doing her skies they're very sheer but the nice tent and moisture to without looking like lipstick so that was something that i just i. I used on her every day that she wasn't or for every single she wasn't so carry so there was on. Did you have names for of the carries like did you. Have you know the family one at the breakfast table. And the one of the coffee shop and then these disguises have did. They have different names. You know some of them. I did name just like you know. Obviously homemade kardashian been there was coffee. Shot cassie because that was cute and then i guess the other one that i made Was the nurse was just the nurse because that was you know its own. It's all look altogether. Yes so we didn't talk about the nurse. Tell me about. Tell me about the development of that nurse. The nurse was my. I think it's going to be the next halloween costume for everybody right. That is going to be the hollering and the nurse was interesting for me because it was kind of like i wanted her to reflect a little bit of a blow up downs but with an edge to it so it was like the why is big. I love you know overly drawn lip look but then with mike edge. a little bit gerry edited. That was the thing So what i did was her was a trick that we use quite often to make an island larger. And what i did with as you. Put the liner on beneath the waterline. But you met quite a bit of distance So underneath the lashes nat in the lashes in the waterline. But underneath so basically what you've done is given space to create the illusion of a wider or larger white of so i feel that space that blank space then with a nude shade of a liner and it basically creates the illusion that the is much we love but it's it's a strange bigger because it's it's abnormally bigger. It's almost like do you remember the video scream. Bet kevin equipment. Yeah and you remember. How big her eyes look. Of course it was that it's that way that you create the illusion. Johnson but that i can look a little freaky has and so. That's what i did with that. And then and then did you use a double. Did you use a coal pencil or used. I used eye-shadow i n line and liner and then i put a lower lash at that place where the The lash line was not so beneath. It creates this. You know very giant. Love that i i. It gives an edge.

"When i had my son and i remember saying to myself i do not want her to have some weird chemical in her mouth while she's trying to nurse. This baby liked is just. I just don't want this thinking. Okay what can i do for calluses. That will look natural. But i know won't be harmful. So i decided to take golden raisins and flatten them out and spread the mountain in they. Did they just like old calendar able to wipe them off. And i felt like okay. I'm not there's no chance that like her baby's getting to get nuclear chemical or anything thursday this nursing mama with nurse. I was like you know so digilent- with everything. So i wanted to pass that same vigilance on for her and business of safety that i had for myself and then how did how did they adhere. They were just gummy enough to at ear that i was just able to china tech down And it worked very innovative. That's great that's great. I know you're like just a light bulb that came on. That's great so so then you when you read the script for this so carries like i'm working on something and i want you and you read the script and where you just blown away. It's so unlike anything. That's i compare it sometimes to people who asked like to heather's of this generation. But you know i just. It's so creative so innovative and you must have just been so excited and just like let's get to. It was the first thing you did. Well i think. I remember that when i was reading the script it might my agent said. Yeah they said the like the makeup. I think you're gonna see make us a character your ass in his So i was reading the script. And when i got literally like i can't remember what page number was but this team where she sits up in the bed and says what are you doing. Yes yes i was sold. I me because you know you're reading. Oh god this guy's gonna she's taken advantage of like reading it with your heart in your mouth off and then suddenly there's like the twist and i was sort of course of course so then so then i read somewhere. I think it was variety that you were talking about how you wanted a diy aspect to her face and that is much harder than to execute than you would think. I'm sure kerry you know knows how to do her makeup. You know what i mean. It has a certain routine. So how did you go about teaching her how to make it look like a youtube tutorials. I think you compare it to which was like too much highlighter. Miss are too much trying to work not properly blend not not flawlessly limited. It's blended but there's something this mat. I finished about it You know just just making sure that. I didn't do perfection. Yes that was the thing i wanted to lift like..

"I need something good to watch on Netflix. Is this good? Yeah, it is good. It's it's about the one of the most important archaeological finds in Europe, at least in the 20th century. The excavation of what is called the Sutton Hoo. Anglo Saxon burial ship in Suffolk. Ah ship in Anglo Saxon ship dating from the seventh or eighth century was excavated on Deacon Taint a treasure of gold and jewelry on really revealed a great deal about what the Anglo Saxon world was like that people hadn't known about before. The time of Alfred the great On. This is about the people who actually carried off this excavation. Carey Mulligan, who is also in promising young woman right now gives very different performance very laid back, very tweety, very stiff upper lip as the woman who starts the whole process running Rafe fines is the man she hires to do the actual digging. He's an excavator rather than a member of the archaeological elite. And when people come in from the British museum to take over, they treat him very condescendingly. This is not a docudrama, though there were invented characters put into the story in order to add some romance and things of that sort you so you have to take a lot of the story with a great assault, but it's still a good story. The acting is very good. It has a masterpiece Theater kind of style about it. So if you're looking for something that moves in a rather stately way and is instructive as well as dramatically Kind of affecting the dig is a good place to go this weekend. All right? Yeah, that's called the dig. Now we have Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek about a simulated alternate reality. This is called Bliss.

And I think his voice was a little deeper than mine. Just it doesn't take much a little bit also will miss deeper than you. Yeah, no Wilms Herbert in that cast, too. Great show William Conrad to I don't even mention him. I forgot to mention William Conrad. He was U. S Marshal Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke. How could you not mention him? Hope you enjoyed that CBS broadcast. Of escape. But it's time now for Sarah Night Adamson segment. She is our national movie critic. And here she is. Hello, Karl. "That is almost two hours worth of lots of digging. There was a point where i was like. Okay where is this going to go. And just when i was about to say that. Then that's where we got a really nice discovery or i won't smaller anything but it was just something relaxing to watch. Because you're just looking at a nice view with some very kind people Building themselves off each other and nali that but The man who has buried underneath the sand just the curiosity of lake his continued interest in wine to discover. What's down there after almost suffocating in the dirt and are there better films about digging. Probably but it was. It was just something that i watched in just a with with just a happy smile on my face i felt good about. I mean you talked about films about slice of life and all that. It's not a category of Movies i'm particularly fond of because that doesn't mean that that's an excuse to have the movie be two or three hours lying Just let to shoot something and you just watch it. And there's eventually a story going on that. I am not fan of at all but when it's a slice of life were you. There is not a lot of action going on. you know there's no explosions or anything. It is literally people digging in one spot in the hogan's deeper and deeper they keep finding things out of it but while that the family and the people doing business with interacting with each other and it is just nice. So i just felt joy in seeing and watching this and Yeah i give it a saul good or what about you guys. Go okay here again. We have another movie that is elevated by the actors involved. If you just told somebody we made a movie about a group of people digging in the dirt trying to find some ancient ship you'd be like okay. Whatever but like you said shays. This is just charming to watch. It's just nice pleasant nice watch. And they're my cup of coffee. Watching lord voldemort dig in the dirt. And he's quite good and of course he is. He's a great actor. And then you got carey mulligan here and the the drama between her and her son and his curiosity with things. It's just very nice than it's just engaging because these actors are so talented that they make it engaging because yeah there's not a lot of plot this is all character development this is. You could almost say if this wasn't placed in the past with actors. It could almost feel like a documentary. Because we're just exploring his extra excavation. I will say that there is parts of the movie that did kind of drag for me. I was not completely invested in the lily. james carey mulligan's cousin romance subplot that was thrown in there. But i likely james. She's the talented actress. So it was fine but i was just a little confused why that was in there but this is a perfectly nice movie and these actors make it engaging to watch so i agree. It's a good movie just Well the james whole storyline was not even needed in this movie at all. Like if you just cut out everything. 'cause she's married and they you know you can tell that she's really into the.

"This is a really fine movie marked by a superb performance by Carey Mulligan, the British actress who was given a succession of good performances, and she's fine in this really dark thriller with Comedic elements to it, but also a lot of drama to it about this young woman. We hear her narrating in that clip you just played on. She has the habit of in effect, taking advantage of a young man who come upon her in nightclubs. When they think she's drunk, and then she turned the table on them, and we find out why she's in this position. Why she keeps doing this. And it all goes back to Ah sexual harassment incidents in the past when she was in medic. Well school on when she meets one of her old classmates from medical school again, it turns her on to a miss mission of even more direct revenge. This picture has some great twists to it. It also has Real bite. I mean, this movie is not easy to watch because it tells some really unpleasant proves, although it tells them in a really powerful way. Still there sometimes hard to watch. I strongly recommend this movie. I take it you went to the theater to see it. I did my best to give industries of the movie theater industry a little bit of money. Yes, right, Right. It's coming onto streaming services next week, So if you want to see it again, you'll be able to see it in your home. But right now, you still have to go to the theaters to see it, but I think it's This is one of the rare movies where it might be worth taking a chance. Going toe to a theater at this time, All right, Moving on. Here's a story about a woman trying to escape her abusive husband while trying to fight back against a broken housing system. "Really low for me so it didn't keep its domenico. Here's a question. Do y'all think that he was intending or is intending to continue on with this franchise like. Do you think that this is supposed to be. I'm not sure if anyone has discussed that. I'm not sure if he's talked about it. Is this supposed to be more than one thing because feel like at the end the way that they leave it. It's supposed to be more than one thing. May i mean. Isn't there some discussion over. There is like a annihilation trilogy. Where it's like. It's dunkirk tenant. And then i think either interstellar or inception that's meant to be a quote unquote trilogy. I've heard that online. I don't know if that's what he's thinking. But i don't know i to be honest. I kind of hope. E doesn't i hope he kind of does something else completely after this but i feel like after having done the dark knight trilogy. I don't see him going back to doing a full full on trilogy or or series. I guess it was something. In the way that He and patents interact at the end. You know it's sort of this lake. Yeah we got. The we got the door left open for For plenty of adventures ahead. You know 'cause you and i got we got into some time. Hijinks lemme tell ya. Swaggers away into the into the job so yeah in a nice bow at the end. Yeah and so. I was really just like are we going to be getting more of these are is it now. John david washington and robert pattinson. His time cops is that is what we're going to start doing entertaining. See two hundred million dollars of that kinda fell. Maybe but honestly. I doubt that he gets the sequel. Just because you know this thing's underperformance at the box office is apparently why. Hbo went and became. You know the the launch platform the next two years crazy job. Christopher and i read to that on a technical level. You know which majoring like. It's it's flawless technically except for the sound but like you know the fight choreography. Far if i read correctly it was all like they. They filmed it forward in the they actually had them. Do it backwards. And that's how they were able to create that effect interesting. I think i read it. From bolster so You know. I'm not sure but i mean that's what i had read. And if that's the case i mean like that's insane and then got applaud. Someone for for being able to tackle something like that. And he's a madman you know yeah reliant. But he's crazy and also that we should say. This is the first film in while of christopher. Nolan's not scored by hans zimmer. A guy who has done the mandalorian is the guy who did the music for this and a great score but i agree about sound design like the music is pretty constant at. It's rare there's ever silence but as we said that sound mixing like it's it's frustrating and would love to know why he does that because clearly with the money. He has the attention to detail. He could do something about that over time but he doesn't seem to be he's a madman so i guess we shouldn't question his methods but now that the cast is great across the board john david washington elizabeth tabacchi. Oh kenneth branagh. He's a maniac. He's crazy but it's a better russian villain bad guy than he played in that jack ryan movie waiting chris pine jerry nightly by better. Yeah you know. Elizabeth begi if i'm pronouncing her name correctly She is coming up man. Z. is booming right now and i remember. I think the first time i saw her. It was either in guardians or it was an Cloverfield paradox but now it's like every other thing i'm like. Oh there she is she's gonna The last thing that i remember the first thing that i saw her in was The great gatsby movie with Yeah leo and toby. There we go and carey mulligan and then you have definitely been seeing her since then guardians volume to Cloverfield paradox was something else Social letdown but she's been consistently enjoyable in everything that i've seen around. I think she was also in the man from uncle with him. Yes she was an armie hammer and that one was at enjoyable enough films. So yeah no. I think that everyone did a good job. I definitely i'll be curious to see. I guess what he does next because per the usual. I'm left after this movie going. You know what's next. Yeah and i guess he's still succeeding then so still you know young so many more films ahead of him if he chooses to continue. I don't see why wouldn't he seems really love cinema. So i mean martin scorsese. Is you know octogenarian. Now i think or close to eight hundred. Thirty spielberg is getting up there too. I think he's around eighty. Yeah so and they're still out there. Making will martin making movies spielberg's having fun. Yeah i mean. There's i mean we talk about it for for hours Is there anything else in particular guys. I mean i. I don't want to happen to keep talking about it. I just don't want to. I think for anyone who goes in watching it i think. Just i guess if this is a helpful pointer. My understanding of the timeline is essentially kind of almost like the weird sort of it happens thrice thing of lubar where it's like one time line to time line three time line. Everything is now wrapped up and buttoned. Yeah you just don't get to see the third time line. you just sort of happens like around you lay. Its incident capsulated the whole narrative. So if that's helpful in any kind of way you'll watch it and you'll be like oh okay i get it. I think his go before we not has as i think it really is just to say. I'm the smartest guy in the room. I think that nolan's desire is to say that in for the most part he's he's probably right you know he He's brilliant when it comes to to his themes and and how he delivers them. But with this one is gonna lost me a little bit. But i'm hoping to get that back on the on the second viewing probably a year from now One thing. I do love he more than almost any other. Filmmaker has a great to create really unique suspenseful heists like the opera at the beginning i mean the the dark knight opening is an obvious example. He's has such a good.

"That this is this was a very big, controversial movie at Sundance. This this last go around. Starts Carey Mulligan as a former med student, and she has a very particular routine. She will go into a bar act very drunk. Wait for some guy that had taken take her home to his place. And then when he starts doing not my thing, she suddenly she suddenly appears very sober. And he had the jet. The man in question is like very Uh on and she does this Azzawi discovers the movie goes on. There's a reason she does this and it involves something from her past when she was in medical school. Uh, It is very stylishly the director, Um Hamilton l, who is the showrunner for killing heave. Hanks is the only one. But i'm hearing at the movies. Not as good as people expected. So a may vary when it comes to visages just depends where they put daniel because people still don't know if he's gonna go supporting our league. Louis is going supporting. I can go for his. He's going supporting us. I guess mccallum humor. Same la keith. Is is lead o Lead actress year. Vanessa kirby pieces of a woman viola davis number two carey mulligan number three for promising a woman. France mcdormand four. And because you can't rule out until she's not in. I still have meryl streep five guests to movies now. Workers upset. yeah. I would never make that mistake again. I used to make that mistake. The flash. I was like i saw the movie. I'm like. it's not that good. I hope she doesn't get in everything she did it. Because that's my favorite actress. But there's some nominations that i'm just like didn't deserve would like life for into the was not better than a chef staining almost violent year or stellar like jessica chastain deserve nominated for either the over into the woods and i mean in finishing up on merit. I think we're gonna talk about it and a little bit. But she won her last oscar. and she's she kinda screwed over someone. i should have won that oscar. So and then yes finishing off supporting actor at such a baron cohen. Winning right now with leslie odom junior number two bill murray number three danu kalou number four and then chadwick number five so i haven't missed a double nominee and in supporting actors have man to see freed winning for mink than olivia colman. The father. I think this is the fun nomination. I don't know what's going to happen. But i have marib buckle over for borat I have ellen bernstein for pieces of woman. How helena's zen gel for news of the world. I think she does get in an an screenplay people go ahead. Jc now that'd be a lot of people saying that before like Halian grip whereas i is likely but as they go support because she's so important and good that she might get the nomination. Yeah and then screenplay. I have manx still winning screenplay than childish goggles seven soul on the rocks and promising or woman and that that have no madeleine one nine in miami marines black batum. I've borat and the father was born. I did get the original. Did get a kademi award here. So yes so that wraps it up i mean the the the season just started. So we'll see what happens here But it seems like it's going to be one of those seasons that it's going to be all over the place in an old paper going to have a clear picture runner until maybe closer to the day of the show but yeah let's get into it fellas. Jc you're gonna say something. No no just with this season being so different all the way in april. I like some movies dead. Like that's the only to the fibrous is still my top five for the year but it worries me that affect came on jerusalem is. I'm going to ask ten months as it came out. And then one note that i wanted to see if you guys would agree. I think i have five netflix's movies in best picture. There has never been a studio that has gotten five best picture nominees. Do you think the flex would do it or do you think they may draw the line at four. Jc what he women for shore with control of those. Our lives are locks yet. And.

"A long time it's been a month you've got a look at it is like Yanis taffeta dress from the Grammys were just it's a great cashmere blanket and it's keeping us warm that's true and I am telling you is made the winters I feel so much more content about winter than they did last year at this point were we felt like we were breaking at the end of the three week polar vortex because everything was so hard when you can't leave the house without possibly dying because so cold that that harshest the vice a little bit it really makes you just feel room I don't know I'd much rather have the cashmere Greece guy Blaine cast agreed agreed yeah because yeah the chance the chance that we'll see a rightly sunny day on a Sunday yeah go do something that makes you feel such a high informed by the Mindy do something that makes you feel funny and take some vitamin D. thank you doctor Lori that's right because we're having the cloudy is warmest January ever in here for okay so stop movie because I see movies makes me feel funny I love going to the movie theater I love seeing a bunch of trailers can I say that the trailers I saw a lesson at the movie theater had one simple common theme about five of them revenge all women getting revenge there is a gag Carey Mulligan kinda looks like an independent movie like a woman whose get revenge than we saw rhythm section which is Blake lively then there was.

"It doesn't have the quality yet where you're like. Oh, I get it. You're like top of the line here. Bud like prints Persia like he's doing shit like that. Just like what? Yeah. You're like, what are you doing your life, man? He hadn't quite escaped bubble. Boy, yet, you know now he's like Jake Jilin. Now, he's like a greatly respected. Also, jacked like, oh, yeah. There's a shot of him in nocturnal animals. Do you ever watch? No, just like, it's Tom Ford, which all about beauty or whatever. So but there's like a shot of Jilin hall. I can't remember if he's like an bathtub or if it's just like. I think he's just like sitting in a bathroom like cradle curled down. And he's doing could just see all the all the naked. Right. But like, you don't see any obviously, anything, right? You seem like profile wise. But he's like there is the two percent body fat. And I remember thinking to myself like this is not even a movie about that. You're not boxing. You're just a regular guy here. And you like, you know, I mean, but you know, he knows that that is more appealing than the other option. Right. Right. Because that's what you gotta do in Hollywood. You gotta keep yourself appealing. And so mine is is an interesting one because he's actually directed before. And he's old, but I would love to see Gary Oldman like actually direct interest. I don't know why I just like he's been in the business for so long. He's played such different roles. He's worked with so many people for so many years. Yeah. I feel like if he because I was looking at up because I was like he did nil by mouth in nineteen Ninety-seven thing that he wrote and directed okay did Jack white unstaged in two thousand twelve needed. This film called flying horse that he directed and starred in and wrote. Himself that it doesn't even have a picture interesting because even have cover art. So like. I don't know why. But you know, we both love Gary Oldman so much. Yeah. I think that he could I would just love to see him direct actors, and I think if he had a really good director of photography and someone that kind of hone in his craziness because I'm sure he's all over the place. But if I could just get him film. Maybe if he was just a director duo with someone, but if I could get a film where he's actually directing character actors. Yeah. I think that'd be so amazing. Yeah. I've listened to a game. I listened to Hardwick interview. He did like a year or two ago. It's like an hour long. And he's talking about a lot of different stuff and his processes actors, really interesting. He like, he's definitely very, you know, every so spoken that's kind of how he is. And he's, but he's obviously able to get so intense, and I wonder if he would be able to properly articulate what he wanted for for actors. I wonder I think it could go either very very very bad. Yeah. Very very very good. Yeah. Because I mean, like did you see wildlife? Neither did I it's Carey mulligan and Jalen hall struck by ball dano. It was his director slash. It's been washed. On airplanes right now is thinking about watching yesterday..

"Yeah. The way that that van sort of represents the the sands of the hourglass and that affect on what's happening in those other worlds, and you talked about the. And how important it is. And how he uses it Nolan here in doing my research. I came across a quote from an interview where I think he said he doesn't really ever use lotion and had never really before. And as I read that I thought, well, I can't think of example off the top of my head in other films. He always kind of rejected it in a voided it, and I'm putting this word in his mouth here. But as kind of an aesthetic trick, it was something if it was just purely for aesthetic reasons, he wasn't gonna her, and he found a reason in inception in the van sequence of the way time is rendered across these different layers and in the scene you gave as well. The way time layer the way different rules apply in these different dimensions as you talked about. So we could have gone that route. Instead, they'll just have to be an honorable mention for me. Because instead I'm going for my number one Nicklaus winning ref in the elevator beat down from Dr. And this is one that did not make my list. But I thought about for quiet scenes because there is no dialogue there just. Music here in the sequence. Ryan Gosling Carey mulligan and another guy who in the elevator is giving Gosling the side. I and then we get Gosling looking at him and noticing the gun in his jacket. He knows he's a hitman. He's been sent for him possibly for her as well as soon as the elevator closes, and they get in with this guy. That's when the slow motion starts to two minute sequence of slow goslings character, the driver protecting her reaching back with his hand to slide her over then turns to face her. And we get this really dramatic lighting change that cuts it to a two shot as if they're the only two people maybe not just in the elevator. Josh despite that third guy being there. They might be the only two people in the entire world there at this point in the elevator. And then this along gated kiss in the look that follows it, and it's all incredibly romantic, I really feel that watching the scene originally in the theater and watching the scene again for this list. And there's so much going on in the moment because we know that his feelings for her the feelings he's expressing in this action that kiss are real. And he's expressing them in a way that I believe he's yet to really be able to do, but as authentic as it might be the act itself is kind of an act he's actually buying time. It's giving him the element of surprise. So he knows that he can be the one to attack. I and not only is it his first chance to show his feelings. But it might be his last Josh where does the relationship go. After the woman, you love witnesses you stomp Ammann's Heddon in an elevator. Even if he was going to kill you where does a relationship go after that kind of brutality the sound design here is so important to the scene again as probably the case with all of our slow motion fix the musical choice..

"Did turn to the room to help me do research bughouse. Oh, great. And just went just wanna give you some of the names we thought, oh, this is fantastic. Because I feel like I'm coming little bit dry. We don't really care. I think maybe not quite a millennials like. Hi, other superintendent, Batman content. Michael Jordan came up again, Timothy Shalam came up at the decision was that he would make an implausible Batman. But a very interesting, Bruce, Wayne. Okay. Henry golden from crazy rotations who the first two words in that movie title referred, Bruce, Wayne, why not the third one? I really liked was Robert Pattinson because he's turned into a pretty interesting actor of I don't know are we gonna outsource Batman to the Brits Christian bale, did it. But if you wanna go bail patents than I have a suggestion for that. It's James badge Dale, and if you're talking about graduating, someone if you're talking about putting some what no I feel like this guy, speaking of deep state people been pushing James badge Dale on us for years. What your beds is the best movie of two thousand nineteen so far? What what's that the standoff? It's barrow creek starring briar patch co star Brian Guarany, Brian coast are Chris mulkey aware, it's just it's the best movie I've seen so far this year. It's it's fucking amazing. It's an incredible movie. If people have a chance to check that is on I tunes. It is awesome. And Dan bad sale is is really really really good in it. I got two more quickly. Okay. So because I guess this is actually circles back to your point about who's next who stole vailable for franchise. Someone suggested Lucas hedges Ben is Batman. Right. Yeah. Okay. In the one I like most is less. Let's really time that you've the breast ring swollen. No. I think I think I'll know after has had a bigger when eighty swing in public entre snus in last year than Paul Dana. Who was just everyone thought he was just that guy from those run of movies where he was that guy from the sunshine in there will be blood in all of a sudden he's just just diesel in escape at any anymore. Really good. You wildfire wildlife wildlife, Richard Ford, adaptation Carey mulligan. Got a lot of plots for that.
