"Enough, putting them on a flight with a child care assistant that you don't know. Well, I only had the weekend off, so I was flying to my sons in Savannah to see them for Christmas. And my grandson, it was delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed. They didn't cancel it until 2 a.m., which was after all of the car rental places were closed. I'm sorry. Pete's got a message for them, too. You might have spent Christmas in the airport, but you'll be home in time for kwanzaa. Is that really what stranded Americans need? The secretary of transportation went AWOL, wishing happy kwanzaa from an undisclosed location. The truth is Pete Buttigieg doesn't want this job. He thinks he's better than this job. He wanted to be president, but the American people rejected him. And so he stuck being the airports are. And he can't even handle that. Anytime there's a crisis, he goes into hiding. When our supply chain snapped, he took a longer parental leave than I did. And I gave birth, and I was nursing. When the rail union threatened to strike, took a personal trip to Portugal, basking in the city of Porto as our rail system was on the verge of crumbling. He doesn't want to get his hands dirty. Buttigieg only pops up when he sees a political opportunity, like using taxpayer dollars to buy Chinese solar panels. And European windmills that will fall apart in a couple of years. Buttigieg only likes talking about roads and bridges if you can call them racist. I'm still surprised that some people were surprised when I pointed to the fact that if a highway was built for the purpose of dividing a white in the black neighborhood or if an underpass was constructed such that a bus carrying mostly black and Puerto Rican kids to a beach or it would have been in New York was designed too low for it to pass by, but that obviously reflects racism that went into those design choices. Like Democrats always say, never let a good crisis go to waste. Pete found a silver lining in this storm for his own career, of course. From what I can tell southwest is unable to locate even where their own crews are, let alone

Just download the free bob and sherry app. I just feel so lucky sometimes that I stumbled into this job. I don't know how I did it. But here I am, just kind of hacking around with you guys. And it's great. And when I see, when I see a list of the hardest jobs in America, I just go, man, God bless these folks and thank God there are some adults and some people who really can get in there and get their hands dirty because I'm probably not one of them. However, I've got the 20 hardest jobs in America, I want you to tell me sherry lynch, at least one of them that you think I could do. If I didn't have this, if someone said, bob has to do one of the hardest jobs in America. Okay. So I'm ready. Here we go. 20, I'm just going to burn through them. Number 20 asbestos removal operative. I've seen these guys work in these white suits. Wow. Don't say no of all of them. Just listen. And then just. I'm definitely saying no to that one though, 'cause you know how you are. You're all like, you're not going to want to remove asbestos. You're just not, okay, go ahead. That was number 21. Of course. All right, number 9, 19 is sewer cleaner. Number 18 is oil slash gas rig worker. These are the hardest jobs in America. Number 17 is a builder, like your husband. Number 16 hazardous waste removal worker. 15 search and rescue worker. 14. Home care assistant. 13. God bless them all teacher. Number 12, a minor going down into the earth, a minor, very dangerous. Number 11, a social worker. All right, we're in the top ten. Prison warden. That's number ten. Number 9. Hey, hey, hey. Number 9 farmer. Once again, you're looking for something that I probably could pull off. Number 8. Bomb disposal engineer. I have to admit. You're a little twitchy to be disarming the bombs. Hush, silence. Number 7 is healthcare worker. The 6th hardest job in America surgeon. Oh, yeah. A concentration in the education you need. Number 5, one of the most admired professions, firefighter. That's the 5th hardest job in America. I think it should be even higher. Number four, the police officer, every day, you don't know what you're coming upon. There's always problems. There's always arguments. There's always people lying to you. Number three, paramedic every single day you're out there and you're looking to save somebody who is in a very precarious situation. Number two hardest job in America a doctor and the number one, according to this little survey, the hardest job in the USA, and these days, I think you can't argue too much with it, is nurse. So there they are at the 20th of them. All right, so I worked together with me a lot. Which one of those jobs? The hardest jobs in America do you think I could do? I feel that you could learn how and eventually get pretty good at being a sewer cleaner. I do. I feel like you could learn that. There's probably not a lot of math. There would be a nursing or bomb disposal. And you do like things that are clean, you're a clean man. We've pointed that out many times to how clean you are. So I think learning to clean a sewer, at the math free hygiene zone. I like it for you. I think you could do any of those jobs. It's will you have the patience to do any of those jobs? There's some math in some of them there, max, I mean, I don't know. And do you really think you think bob's gonna come to your house and give nana a sponge bath? I don't think so. As much as nana might want it, I don't think bob's up for that. I think but a sewer cleaner, yeah. And you could probably work alone, which you would like. You could have your earbuds in, you could be listening to credence or whatever. And you know, and after cleaning the sewer all day, I'll go home and be alone, too. You're gonna have to come in sewer cleaner. That's the out of the 20 things sewer cleaner. Nothing against the sewer cleaner community. I mean, God bless you, it has to be done. How about search and rescue? Search and rescue worker. I'm out there. Carrie, are you, are you in that part of the forest? The attention to detail, you know, the whole grid search thing, the whole navigating, no, and you know you don't want to be a paramedic. You know how you are about other people's bodily fluids. You're not going to like any of that. How about a teacher of certain certain subjects? Bob, we're struggling to get the basics taught in school, a class called choosing a restaurant. We're not going to get that funded. I don't know. That's a good point. It looks like here's what professor lacy is teaching this semester. Choosing a restaurant, why your taste needs adjusting? So it's in Maine to vacation. Even a liberal arts college is going to have more time with that. So it looks like sewer cleaner or maybe, you know, if I wasn't skiing so much asbestos removal operative. I could probably you're too much of a hypochondriac or too much contract for that. Okay, bob's first week as an asbestos removal technician. At the end of it, he develops a cough, and no matter how many times we tell him it's the pollen, he's convinced he has inhaled asbestos. And he lies awake at night, trying to listen to the asbestos fibers moving around in his lungs. True or false. That's true. It is. Yeah. Yeah. Whereas you getting down in the sewer in your protective boots and shoveling. I mean, you've been shoveling them in order here for a long time. Why not? Well, you know, you're right. Your job. Yeah, I don't know why I didn't see that. Okay, well, there it is. Thanks. I think. Congratulations. Yeah. Bob and sherry, can you believe this is sponsored by fabric? "Is press play on KCRW. I'm Madeleine brand. The Paralympics begin today in Tokyo. More than 4000 athletes are there to compete in this year's games. And just like the Olympic Games, their families are not allowed to travel with them because of Covid. And that's a bigger problem for Paralympians because some rely on their parents caregivers. A few athletes even pulled out of the Games. Because of that, like US swimmer back up Myers, who won three gold medals and a silver in the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. Joining us now to talk about this is Amanda Morris. She's a disability reporting fellow for The New York Times High. Hi. Thank you so much for having me. Great to have you well. Parents were barred from traveling to Tokyo for the Olympics and the Paralympics. But I guess I'm wondering why weren't exceptions made for the Paralympians who really some of them really rely on their parents for basic needs. Yes. Interesting. You bring that up, because, um, while other athletes have dealt with, um issues not having their families their prepare Olympian, that really is different. It's not just about having support from your family. It's about having literal tools that you need to succeed in competition, and they argue that it's an accessibility accommodation that they required to compete. Um, so the U. S Olympic and Paralympic Committee has said that um to use personal care systems were not allowed into the games to two restrictions on the side that delegations But athletes argue that they've allowed in other essential personnel such as golfers, caddies, um, and that these personal care assistance should be Delegated as personal they should be delegated as essential personnel as well. Right. And so what does the U. S Olympics and Paralympic Committee said to that? They say that, um personal care systems are considered essential personnel. But athletes like Michael Myers say that they require one on one personal care assistance instead of the U. S Olympic and Paralympic Committee structure. Of having one personal care assistant for the entire team, which has multiple blind swimmers on it. For Becca Meyers, her experience in the 2016 Olympics is what caused her to push for a one on one accommodation. She was told during the 2016 Paralympics that coaches and teammates would be available to help her. But she found that nobody was around to give her the level of care and Support that she needed. She wasn't able to go to dining halls and wasn't able to successfully navigate on her own. She is both blind and death and said that she ended up sobbing on the floor of her hotel room. Because she wasn't getting enough to eat, and she was considering pulling out at that point in 2016. And then she did pull out in these Olympics. So what was behind that decision? Yeah, So after 2016, she decided she would never put herself in that position again, and she has fought for her mother, Maria Myers to regularly travel with her as a personal care assistant. Which has always been the case. Up until now, Um Even though her mother wasn't considered part of the team. The team allowed her mother to accompany her at all times so long as the family footed the bill. This year, however, because her mother wasn't considered part of the team. Her mother wasn't able to get any kind of credential to get into the games and be considered part of the delegation. And so she just wasn't able to have her mother with her, despite these requests, and despite past understandings in which her mother was with her And officials are saying that's because of Covid. We have to limit the amount of people who can come Yes, that is what officials are saying that it's because of covid so they can't bring all the people that they brought in the past. But again, um Paralympic athletes point out that they have allowed Golfers, caddies and as well as other essential personnel. And they argue that having one personal care assistant for an entire team doesn't meet the requirements of athletes like Becca Meyers or others like her, which I'd be happy to talk about. Right. There's a guy named Mikey Brannigan, who runs track and field. Um, he has autism, right? And what are the issues he faces not having. A personal caregiver with him. So, yes, Mikey Brannigan has an intellectual disability and his parents did actually consider pulling him out this year, but The Paralympic Games means so much to him that they've been trying to make it work. Um In 2016. He had a personal coach with him, Uh, In the past, you've had a personal coach with him named Sandra Robinson. And they said that in 2016, he did actually did not have a personal coach, which is what led to some issues. Um, I had at the 2016 Olympics. He was on the way to a training facility and because he couldn't have a personal care assistant with him. He ended up getting lost in an airport for several hours. And then once he got to the training facility They were told the parents were told that he would be supervised at all times. But then Mikey ended up accidentally misplacing another athletes equipment, which led to Misunderstanding and let's have some tension at the training facility that his parents believe could have been avoided if you had a personal care assistant Um And he also had some other, um, difficulties like He doesn't express pain to everybody. When he is hurt, he only expresses it to a few trusted people, such as his personal care assistant. And, um, he has some allergies that he might not. Be able to eat properly. If somebody isn't helping him, avoid the things that he's allergic to. So his parents were really concerned, and they ended up getting his personal assistant, Sandra Robinson, to go as his personal coach. But that does not give her access to his eating and sleeping areas. Um, to do US Olympic and Paralympic Committee says that there is a coach who was assigned to Mikey that will be watching him. But that coach has said that she doesn't feel qualified to tend to make these needs because with people who have intellectual disabilities You can't just put them all under the theme umbrella. They say that every single individual has their own needs and their own challenges. So this instance, Roslyn Clark is the coach that was assigned to watch Mikey Brett again. She's also assigned to watch her own daughter, Brianna Clark, who has an intellectual disability as well. And Roslyn Clark has said that her daughter's needs and Mikey's needs are very different. Right and so still, despite all that he's expected to compete and others as well. And just to end on a more up note. What are some of the highlights here looking for really quickly? Yeah, So this year will be the first time that we're having badminton in taekwondo in the Paralympics, so that will be fun to watch. Um, there will also be several superstar athletes to watch such as Jessica long. She's got 23 medals, and she is a Paralympic swimmer, and there's also Tatyana McFadden. She's called the queen of the track. She competes in wheelchair track, and she's a 17 time medalist. Who has won many races but not yet cleaned a Paralympic gold medal, so all eyes will be on her as well. And then another man that I can think of that would be interesting to watch would be David Brown. He's been called the fastest blind man in the world, So we'll be watching for his race as well. And in terms of events, wheelchair basketball, it expected to be very competitive. The U. S wheelchair basketball team has won the gold in 2016, and they are trying to defend it this year and then built your rugby. Also known as Murder Ball is a very, um Intense for it, and they're attempting to get the gold medal for the U. S team for the first time this year. They won silver in 2016 and bronze in 2012, so they're just looking to bump it up a little bit further..

That should never have gotten to this point. I want the us olympic and paralympic committee to work immediately to address this issue. "So it's corrupt and then you get to like but we're going to treat. The athletes like crap portion of the the interview right so not only. Are they incredibly corrupt. But you know they're also misogynistic and racist and racist yeah And ablest i mean this makes zero sense in talking about the ablest three time. Gold medalist beckham myers. She's deaf and blind and said that she's dropping out of the tokyo paralympics because they're not allowing her to bring her personal care assistant with her to the games. Can you imagine being blind and deaf and not being allowed to have any with you in in tokyo like she's expected to get around into all these things without any assistance. Like i would want somebody. And i can because i don't see any japanese and i know virtually nothing japanese culture right i mean and she's stated that they you know. Us olympic committee is denied reasonable and essential accommodation for her and telling her that she doesn't need a personal care assistant because there will be a single personal care existence on staff that is available to assist her and thirty three other paralympic swimmers. Nine of whom are also visually impaired. So one personal care assistant for thirty three parallel olympic swimmers insane. That doesn't make any sense at all. Yeah and then. In further misogyny we talk about nursing mothers. at first they weren't going to allow Nursing mothers to bring their babies at all but then they decided last week that they will permit athletes who are nursing mothers to bring their infants with them to the next month's months summer games and this was across the board this was for all nursing mothers on all teams right. This wasn't like it was one country saying oh to their nursing mothers no. This was an international olympic committee decision. And just as a personal story that spanish synchronized swimmer ona carbonell. Pardon me for Butchering that name to. She was told she could travel with her eleven month old son in partner but they all had to comply with the japanese government strict kovic nineteen regulations which means that her partner and her baby would have to remain in a hotel room outside of the olympic village for the duration of the games. And if she wanted to continue nursing she'd have to travel to the hotel and that would compromise her teams health amid the pandemic so she ultimately decided to leave her son home. And.

"How that happens in the you can have make this shit up but you just have to trust them. The trailblazers right. You just have to. You just have to believe everything is fine so you can't really expect anything else the but i'm still going to burn all this coats the way he wields power. And how the. I o c decides all these things so for burden amira. I have four olympic related things in very mad about. And i'm just going to run down the list because they can't decide which i'm more mad about. I'm mad about all of them. To be honest. The first thing you might recall About two weeks ago. I o c reversed their ridiculous decision to not allow nursing infants in to the olympic village and olympic space and while people applauded that there's new information emerging about why we should maybe hold our applause spanish synchronized swimmer owner carbonell talked. About how even though this reversal happened. She still was not going to be able to bring her child. Why you asked. We'll because the decision to let people bring their child and the child's of their caretaker. Put them still at an offsite location. Meaning that if you want to go nurse your child multiple times a day. You have to leave the bubble area of your team. You've put your health at risk and not south to go to a different location to nurture child logistically. This remains a nightmare so just letting people come does not logistically solve the problem. You're not letting people easily accessibly still feed their children. So that's ridiculous. The us opec is also being can ridiculous. Because becca myers one of our most decorated paralympian recently completely withdrew from the game. So why you ask because the uso pse being complete fuckers she's deaf blind paralympian. They are not letting her bring her mom as her personal care assistant their response was they already had a pca available to paralympian in swimming. Let's just be clear. They have a single. Pca for thirty three paralympic swimmers. Ten of them who are visually-impaired. Just the math doesn't add up the us opec and becca could see that. And it is terrible. And it's heartbreaking that because she can't get a reasonable accommodation right and she can't have somebody safe and who she trusts to help her at the olympic games. She's choosing to withdraw. She deserved better than that. That's simple shit speaking of some bullshit also from team. Usa let me talk to you really quick about this fencer dude team usa alternate allen headache who should not be at the olympic games He has been under safe sport investigation. There was literally a letter sent last month by multiple women infants and including two olympians. Who said they don't feel safe with him. Being on the team the response from the us olympic committee was to say. Oh we'll we'll tell save sport who's already investigating him they. "Chance. Hi. Amy. Sorry about that. I hope you can hear me now. Better perfectly. All right. So the people have been frustrated actually ever since the awarding of the Olympics in 2013 off because he was only two and half years after the disaster. And since then with the neoliberal policies, people's lives are getting harder and harder and when it comes to the Olympics, it seemed like there are endless of little money that they can pour into. But also like the past years is the beginning of the pandemic, we are told to not go outside, the restaurants that. Close we are told that we cannot get PC all testing because it results in the false positive to that are not good for controlling the virus. And but in the end, when you look at the Olympics when she gets are coming into Japan, and many of them are not even stay in the protocol. Following through the current King rules, even the Thomas. He's dead. Hiroshima, only three days. Right over the quarantine. And the hibakusha have been very angry about this. Like, do not use the Olympics, 2 piece washable, and do not use the Hiroshima, two-piece watch the Olympics off and also like the PCO testing part. If they are going to test the Olympic athletes every day, to keep it safe. Why didn't why they didn't provide that to the Japanese people? I haven't gotten even the one beside chest or what about the in-house? So satoko itani, can you talk about Toyota spent a billion dollars to promote the games. Now has removed all Olympic related commercials meaning commercials that include the Olympics that are so often played through the games because of their embarrassment that this is moving forward. And apparently, the head of Toyota said these games shouldn't be moving forward. Right? I mean, you know, as you mentioned, the vast majority of Japanese people don't want this games. And people are seriously, really concerned about their own lives. And if you look at the, you know, Sportsters making a lot of money off of this game that are people's life, might be a risk, it is really damaging event image, damaging image, right? So this is quite a historic that the Olympic sponsors thought their Association was the Olympics is a negative. What are your biggest concerns with the Olympic athletes? I mean, at this point we see something like over a hundred have tested positive coming in from all over the world. Not just athletes but staff and those numbers only increase the number of other athletes actually have just quit saying they can't deal with the pressure and the isolation but talk about what people are asking for instead. Well, a lot of people that I speak to here especially the ones protect processing are asking for the cancellation immediately and as soon as possible because the bubble that they say you know even working as you just mentioned over a hundred cases. Now so athletes and visitors are not protected and the you know public of Japanese people here are also not. And what's really concerning is that the number of the new infection is going up quite rapidly, largely due to the Delta variance coming in but because all the Olympic is happening. The government has been a really failed to stop that coming into Japan. So, we are for the dark, the sorry. The researchers are warning that they will be worth three thousand cases in Tokyo along daily with him maybe few weeks. And yeah, this is really, really serious situation. And the hospital is already strained. Can you talk about the hospitals and also marginalized khong? Days like the lgbtq + community, and how they're affected and how many people are vaccinated what percentage of the people of Japan have access to vaccines off. So, so we started to hear the reports from the hospitals that they are bits. Are started to fill up. And there are actually thousands of cases of thousands of people waiting to be hospitalized. This means that their situation. Although the condition is worsening fast and they should be hospitalized but they cannot find the hospital best to go into and just about 23% of Japanese people or residents of Japan have been fully vaccinated. So 80% of people are not Which brings us back to Jules boy, cough with this Mass protests happening. Even the highest levels of Japanese government not wanting to this, to go forward. But basically ioc says, a deal is a deal. Talk about how much money they make off these Olympics and BC paid a fortune for running the Olympics. Over the years, they will broadcast not clear what they will show of the stadiums. Since there are very few people outside of the athletes performing That's right. There is a lot of money. Sloshing through the Olympics system, it just tends to slash upwards into Pockets that are already. Filled NBC is about 40% of the international Olympic committee's revenues and overall in terms of the Olympics, 73% of the revenues for the international Olympic Committee come from Castro fees. And I think that helps explain why they're perfectly content to have a made-for-tv event without all those people in the stands. Of course, they prefer to have them in the stands, but even if they don't offer me continues to flow into their coffers, NBC has announced that even though these games are hit with a pandemic and people won't be in the seats. This could well be the most profitable Olympics office for NBC because of ads sales and other measures the corporate sponsors, provide another 18% of the revenues for the international Olympic Committee. And I think we're seeing a really interesting divide between the coughing Sponsors right now, on one hand, the sort of long-term worldwide partners that fork over these nine-figure fees to be associated with the five rings. They're basically playing the long game with the exception of Toyota, which is, of course, has strong base in Japan, the local sponsors domestic sponsors by. Which by the way, they, they raised more than three billion dollars from local, corporate sponsors, Japan more than ever before, they're in a much trickier position. And I think that's why you're seeing Toyota, basically say out loud that the Olympics have become a toxic property inside of Japan. So there's plenty of money to be had it just tends to shuffle to the international Olympic Committee to broadcasters to the corporate Partners as well as to real estate interests in the Olympics City. Let's see. I think NBC has paid something like seven point, seven billion dollars to are the Olympics through 12:32. Joules, boycotts. I mean, you played in the Olympics years ago. Let's talk about some of the people who have pulled out, like the two-time US. Paralympic swimmer, Becka, Myers, who's won three, gold medals, two Silvers and a bronze. But she announced Tuesday, she's withdrawn from the Tokyo 2026 Olympics. After being denied and Essential Medical accommodation. Myers was born. Deaf with Progressive sight loss to do assure syndrome in an emotional opinion page for USA Today. She wrote quote, since 2017, the United States, Olympic and paralympic committee has approved the use of a personal care assistant whom I know and trust to be with me log. International swim meets because of my disabilities, but not this year. What happens? If there is an emergency in the middle of the night? What if we need to be moved from one venue to another quickly? Masks, distancing have made it incredibly difficult for me to make out what people are doing or saying if I don't have someone I can trust. How can I trust? That I will be safe. Meyers Road. "That was the first f spell that i don't think the one that was white but all they're actually there's other ones. There are castles in japan. So now backing off i appreciate that. But the paralympic thing back. The beckham myers here. the us opec. So is that the united states olympic performance committee must be plan paralympic with epi and there you as united states olympic and paralympic committee right. Us opec obviously paralympic was in. There has repeatedly denied my reasonable andy central accommodation because of my disability. Leaving me no choice. Full statement below. I've had to make the gut wrenching decision to withdraw from the tokyo. Twenty twenty paralympics. I'm angry disappointed. But most of all sad to not be representing my country. The us opec has the night a reasonable an essential accommodation for me as a deaf blind athlete to be able to compete in tokyo. Telling me repeatedly that. I do not need a personal care assistant who i trust because there will be a single personal care assistant on staff. That is available to assist me and thirty-three other paralympic swimmers nine of whom are also visually impaired. The us opec has approved me having a trusted my mom at all in an international meet since two thousand seventeen. But this time it's different with cova. There are new safety measures limits of non-essential staff in place rightfully so but trusted as essential for me to compete. I mean doesn't seem just pretty natural. Pretty reasonable. I do it the way she led that off. We're like okay. She's kind of leading here saying this is pretty reasonable and essential and then she's like let me explain to you exactly why i'm feeling that way to not get a pca. She knows what are we. Why is this. This is what i'm talking about though when it comes to everything we're hearing about these olympics are like. Why are the olympics doing that. Why is this happening. And this is another one that can we not get becca. Myers god damn. Pca let her mom along cova. It's a very easy scapegoat the fall because go. We can't do that but for someone who is blind and deaf. I'm assuming you want someone. You're comfortable around that you like trust so he just have some random person leading you around in tokyo. I and this is gonna sound Very ignorant and i apologize for that. Is there a lot of blind and deaf. People out there. I don't know she said there's nine visually impaired people just in that just in the swimming. Visually impaired i but is blind and deaf that is that is that not what i would guess. It's not that common but if it means anything point. Two percent of the world's population that's what popped up right away deaf blind which was two percent. That's a lot. That's how this goes back to the how you can't see or hear anything how you that's unbelievable. How keller's one of the craziest of all time well. That's what i'm this point supersonic wall. Bud so what would make the is. This is a helen. Keller situation is that what was different with helen. Keller anything blind and deaf. Right wasn't swimming in the olympics. So how come we're not. That's what i'm saying like. This is fucking unbelievable. And now a blind in-depth person cannot compete in the paralympic celebration basically of just accomplishing things that nobody ever thought anybody could accomplish in the world celebration of that blind. Deaf beckham myers won't compete. Because they won't let her mom be around her. What are we doing. take your walk. What are we doing. That's an unbelievable story. And you'll have one person for thirty three people it's like that's not gonna work in itself. Let alone not happen. The mom go point. Two percent of the world's population is a. That's a lot of. I didn't know that was happening. The the willpower think about that the willpower to content. Like how do you. How do you learn. I don't understand. I think has been so fascinating for a lot of people because they go. I don't know how that in becca myers. Here's swimming in the olympics paralympics blue. Let's go back a myers. Let's go dude ladder. Swin do bullshit letter mom there man. It's going on this or shit because it happened with the The lady who's running for candidates to who has a kid and she's not going anymore because they won't let her go and she got uh breastfeed or kit so she had to drop out to okay so like all right this is going to sound bad potentially but the olympics could say for the. Is it the olympics. Repair olympic exchange olympics. Could say you knew this was potentially going to happen. The planning schedule of like they could be assholes in say that you're saying that that could happen but why doesn't have till like. Hey just let her take like bit. I guess it's because they don't have enough cardboard box beds over there pretty much and i think they are with the covert over there. I think they're trying to limit as many people as possible. Their way way they're back whenever At the they're at a stage that we hopefully have fast like months and months and months ago I think so. I believe so. You know they say that happens with fashion. Everything starts over there and then comes over this way like after a couple of years. Is that same type of thing. Happening with calvin. Has it not hit japan as much in the past. Was japan still going while we were all shut down or is this another shutdown over there. I think it's a new one. Isn't it because of the the variant. Or whatever i mean. I don't know if they were completely back to normal but i i mean. They're going back into lockdown pretty much. Tokyo is in lockdown. She i mean so the so. The olympic athletes have to be in a bubble but they said the boo boo bubble was loose. So that probably means the local government authority. That has everybody on. Lockdown is not exactly thrilled about that. Thanks so yeah. This is going to be a potential. I mean there's a chance. Oh yeah today. No not today. I think it'll be like middle. Yeah it'd be two teams compete against each other and everyone on both teams gets covered and then they're like oh shit we have to. We have to pull the plug on this right now. I don't know if it will happen. But that's what everybody's saying about it. Yeah lots cancellation is. It feels more likely that's going to happen then in two weeks old clothes and once the rock walks out of that god damn hand shirt. That's true okay now you can. Dvr that by the way. 'cause i mean we're competing against the olympic opening survey. Marta smack.

"This isn't the first instance that the olympics have come up against with accessibility. And i'm thinking about correct me. If i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure some athletes were also mothers are being told that they can't bring their children to breastfeed right. Yeah that's i'm sorry. I i get that. There are restrictions. I get it but to what extent in the cove restrictions are one thing but if the restrictions are are specifically making that it's harder for some people for example. You know a person who needs a personal care assistant or a person who has a child but they are breastfeeding then that policy is discriminatory you know and with all of the logistics and i mean there are thousands and thousands of people descending upon tokyo for the games. I don't see how you can draw the line at a fucking personal care assistant for an athlete. You want to get rid of the opening ceremony. I don't need the dancers. Let the athletes compete and give them what they need to show up and compete all right so moving onto something different but still very much olympics related you know that unbridled free for all sexual debauchery that comes only once every two years. "Hey you know here's your situation. We're to go give you six months worth of de worming and heart worm and flea and tick and all that. And then she got back in to the and services and lists. I know she's got a job placement and working on housing assistance. And everything like that. So that's one of the stories. I love sharon. Y'all i've also met a marine skipped meals in order to make sure a service dog. It's not it's not okay now. Why not just have insurance coverage well you know. If you're a disabled veteran you got the va. They do not cover and you can go to the website. I'm not gonna bash the va bash away. I know they do. They do offer service dog assistance. But it's through the prosthetics department. Only for only eighty i programs programs and then the waitlist is about year and a half years and then even then you vet bills but you only get one routine veterinary care assistant so your dog eat something and has tested obstruction. You gotta bring a man for an emergency eight hundred dollar bill. You might be able to get the. Va to help. But they're not gonna do it. And if you're not a veteran and you got private insurance yeah if you have a disability and you have an oxygen tank or wheelchair or anything like that you filed Claim you pay your deductible. They'll even mail your new wheelchair parts through wheelchair. Well what happens when my dog breaks right on your own. I got hearing aids through the va about seven grand apiece and then lifetime batteries filters little plastic domes. That go on no questions asked. But damn me. If i say okay. Can you help me out on scout shots. They won't even think about. It is what it is Really hard you know. This is one of the reasons why tell people using a service dog is the hardest path aside for for ptsd and for other things too. I'm sure i'm sure that it's applicable in other situations with disabilities but for ptsd. One of the reasons that it's hard has nothing to do with your mental health with with training with your with your self evaluation. Anything that like that that has do with training. Doug it's just simply guess what there fucking expensive veterinary cheap. And they're only getting higher book. I've gone from one hundred pound malamute x rays. It's going to cost me seven hundred dollars to one. She's done hundred seventy pound mastiff and it's going to cost more than a thousand dollars just for her spaying once. She's old enough Now i i'm paying for pet insurance so that that's covered but what if something happened. I could no longer afford pet insurance. I answered yeah. I'm on disability. You're you're smart enough and your Prepared enough. i guess you'd say to to have the pet shirts but not look. I catered us insurance. I couldn't afford it when i first started with skater. I can't now. But i couldn't afford it then. So skiers doesn't have pet insurance. Thank god he's the healthiest dog. I've ever known ever. This dog literally has one issue in. Its from an injury..

It's funny because i always. I actually kinda get mad at people getting mad at these people a little bit. Like the like my empathy meters a little too high. Sometimes where i'm like. Yes they're they're probably racist and they're probably awful and you know probably not a lot of good things. But the reason they're they're the fundamental reason is is one that is very very humid and the way the reason that this has happened to the way it has is someone has preyed on that vulnerability. Someone has preyed on their despair. The reason people are racists. Yes sometimes they just don't like the way people look but it's but a lot of it you know and maybe speaking out of turn because you know i'm not a political theorist from my own observation. Most the reason why a lot of people are racist in a movement is because somebody. 'cause things aren't good and someone said that if we blame these people things will be better. And then obama help fix things right and then the banks went and started to do the same things exactly the same way again. And he says something. Were you know another care. Assistant like people are going to hold these people accountable and then he says no. They're not. They're going to find a scapegoat. Blamed poor people lay blame ignorance. they're gonna blame minorities. It's the people at the top lame these people and everyone's saying oh. Yeah that's it's this. It's this indoctrinating language that has been so prevalent for decades and decades and decades. I mean it's like yeah famously. Hitler was like. Hey here are the jews. Here's a scapegoat. And yes that is. That is exactly what happened in germany. Ed's you know it is the same thing happening now. I feel like they're pointing. The scapegoat now are minorities. Mexicans and black lives matter movement and yeah just like i've heard i've heard the word antifa used so much more on the right talking about what's happening on the left than the left about it like antifa such a small collection of a small amount of people. That might not be going about this the right way but it but that word. I've heard it so because because for better or worse. I always try to make sure to watch things from the right and the left. I i probably watch a lot more fox news than all to you and all of our friends because the way i need to look at everything is in a you know global round and i because i watched those things. That's why i think. I'm even farther than the left and oliver friends than a lot of them are but nick. I mean box is not even a a not anymore we move on from there to liberal fox's but the the amount that word at t.f comes out of their mouths is crazy with how much power they actually have. You know. yeah anyway. The people in power are trying to tell people without power that this other enfranchise group are there the enemy instead of looking to the people with power and see what they're doing with it and i can't help. I almost said this to our friends. But i decided i didn't want to say anything in the group chat until after we had this. Podcast is i. Think the thing. And this is the last time in a santa's 'cause i don't wanna get any more political but And you can say you like but for me. The thing about the situation that as me the most upset because obviously there's a lot of things to be upset about. This is the capital. The way people are treated aren't treated the exposition between these people and other kinds of protests. All things be reached about but the thing that outrages me the most is how jovial and happy fees invaders are that are have invaded the capital and all the pictures and all videos they mostly have smiles and they look happy and they look okay with everything happening. A real movement went when something happens. That's awful and you know when the boston tea party happened. When the massacre the start of the civil war when all these things happen those people who look happy. It's because an insurrection. Happens because of how angry you are and these people look like they're hanging out at the local columbus club like they don't they. Don't look to the yet. They don't look they don't look scared. They don't have the same sorta like skating against the power. They are not scared of the police. They're not worried about anything it's because they are privileged and they know that they can walk right into the capitol building and like they're not gonna be fucking murdered in in hundreds. You know and like. I feel like if anyone else did this. There would be piles and piles of dead bodies everywhere and it's upsetting and part this. Faux outrage that got. That's the that's what i mean like. Bowl now real thing that they're like at who you're showing up. They're going to congress. And they're like i mean they're bringing the capitol building and there's like hey are they going after. They're the ones in power right now. Like it's just so confusing And mind boggling and part of the was going to say like this is a political podcast and like we were talking about the fact that we're americans we live in this country. We can have an opinion on this shit. I don't fuck like whatever if anybody that comes over and listens to our cabaret episode and finds this little nugget of how we feel. Olympic wants to know more. Let us know. We have way more to say looking musical with nazis data and we have not seen in real life. It's fine we are allowed to talk about. It doesn't matter But the point. I was making with f. o. Outrage is i think this is just crazy. How this movie nails. What the whole you know conceit of the movie right is life happens when you're too busy at the cabaret right. That's the conceited movie with. If you're not watching the things around you only watching the things on stage the sedation elizabeth. The you know the nice things you go watch the marvel movies. Go watch the fun things you go wash that kind of stuff. Everything's gonna happen around you and the way that these people are in the audience is so much so how these people are that watching. This movie was top especially scary too. Because i feel like it was like Like you know when you turn the water on a frog and you make it hotter little by little felt like. That's what was happening fell. Mike things were by little and we just didn't realize until it's too late And i feel like it so hard to watch the film and then also see things going on currently in news that same shit. And i'm scared now too. I'm like oh fuck am i missing. Should i go. i don't am. I not seeing that. We are currently a part of something. That's going to be much worse soon. Oh i think. I think you totally hit why. I've been so anxious because because that feeling of do do we need to go now.

Michele Mouton, Queen B of Group B
"Yeah. So today we're discussing Michelle. mouton. A woman. We've this is this the first time we've discussed a woman on the show. This might be the first episode dedicated to a lady. which is a bit embarrassing. I would say so yeah. But no better woman to start off this trend with and Michelle. She is easily one of the best rally drivers ever. She's a beast. So I'm really stoked that we can tell the story even if it took us a little while to get to it, that's on us but but it's interesting because motorsport is really one of the sports where women and men compete against each other as true like she's not the best. Female driver ever. She's one of the best rally drivers at. Yeah. Regardless of gender she's one of the greatest. and honestly like just watching a video of her rally driving makes me sweat. Over, yeah she's like she's the person who when we talk about. Like rally cars now are all-wheel-drive. Wheel drive. But when Audi showed up with quattro and just started smoking everybody that was Michelle. Meantime that was young Mouton Bay. mouton on the track. Yeah I mean. To your point James like drag racing of course is or was kind of dominated by women at one point all the force sisters were just tearing it up. There's really no reason. For it to be separated by gender in in Motor Sport Really of course right now there's the there's the W. series, which is a like a women's open-wheel series. At I think that's more for them to kind of get exposure and it proved themselves in like a formula car but I'm looking forward to seeing some of those drivers come up in the formula. One. Soon hopefully, it would just make it more interesting for crying out loud if nothing else I agree let's get into it a. all right. Let's fired up. All Right Michelle Mouton entered this world on June twenty third nineteen, fifty one in the French Riviera more specifically the idyllic town of grass cross grass Ross. The Idyllic town of Gross France, the perfume capital of the world grassi surrounded by fields of aromatic flowers and home to Francis. Oldest perfumery GALLIMARD. Look I'm friend by far French is the language that I have the hardest time pronouncing both words and names I apologize profusely to anyone with a modicum of sense of how to pronounce stuff I. Think you're doing great. I think I think here like right there. Thank you, Joe, unlike many drivers whose family have a history in the sport returns family made a living growing roses and jasmine for the perfume industry mouton spent her youth skiing doing ballet and excelling in school. But just beyond the flower fields sat the mountain. Stages used for local rallies and wouldn't be long before the engine notes trickling down into the valley beckoned to Michelle mcgann discovered her love of cars at fourteen years old when she would steal her father. Pierre's Citron to seavy and take it out for joyrides. Quote for me at the time a car always meant freedom and independence she said but driving wasn't something she could possibly see a future in it for anyone to envision that path for mere enjoyment to making something your life's purpose but you could argue this especially from. Models for women on the racing stage were few and far between. So after graduating high school Bhutan took up odd jobs working as a ski instructor, a Care Assistant in a home for the disabled and eventually at her father's insurance company until she began studying to be a lawyer but something unexpected would quickly put an end to that career path her entry into a competitive rock and roll dance contest.
