"Razorback pig face on the helmet you could make pigs could be really cool, kind of like they need like an angry cardinal in the Arizona Cardinals helmet. Make a snarling, just pig. Let's go like the Razorbacks. Yes, just not in the pig puns in sports. I think that's great. They would give us so much pun content and material for our For our headlines. So win for the D A show It should be a win for all of us, right? I think when I look at this list The worst one I saw on the list that demon cats What the hell? The Washington Demon cats. I mean, this might as well have been a U. S. F l team in NFL Europe team or some type of this might as well be a team in Johnny Mans. Els don't be seven on seven league. Would demon cats. I can't even believe they started with this and floated this. It feels like a team name out of the show. Playmakers. That is something you can't go down the road of, although.
Fresh update on "cardinals" discussed on ESPN Chicago 1000 - WMVP Show
"For riverboat ride and then other head coaches, and the reason they only signed to a one year deal is because they wanted to sign other players. And on top of that. The new money for the TV deal is gonna kick in. So he bet on himself or so Then the Patriots bet money right? And there's one who else was sued for GAM? I don't know. I'm just saying I'm just laying it out there. Are we gonna see next year? They see, Let's see what happens in that draft and that first round. Yeah, but they love you, man. I'm just saying, you know, I'm just saying, right, he bet on himself, and I think the Pats are also hedging their bets because another year like last year, and they can't make this a multiyear deal. They just can't two years like this. You just exactly Last one. Who Invented the High Five?
"The origin of the high five is kind of disputed slash not really exactly known a forerunner to the high five was the low five part of black american culture since at least the nineteen twenties. But when did it turn up. High and spread further afoot. Was it from the women's volleyball circuit in the nineteen sixties american. Gi's in tokyo during world. War two apparently magic johnson even once implied that he invented it while it michigan state's which blows my mind because my dad was in the same dorm building as magic johnson. Who like was my dad present for the invention of the high five. Probably not. But i suppose i should ask him just in case. Even if magic johnson himself didn't create it he was most likely there when it first started taking off of the top contenders for its origin. They all take place in the late. Nineteen seventies in the world of sports. One story goes that it was created by wiley brown and derek smith from the university of louisville cardinals during the nineteen. Seventy eight seventy nine basketball season. Since their team was nicknamed the doctors of dunk. Doing the standard low five didn't make sense. Their team was all about that vertical movement so they started slapping their hands together when held high above their heads. Brown and smith who passed away in nineteen ninety-six. Get a big chunk of the credit for creating the high five in the press and one reason is because so much footage of the cardinals. High fiving tests highlight reels. A level of evidence not shared by many of the other origin stories but another origin story. A lot of people are familiar with. Is that lamont. Fleets a basketball player from murray state. University also playing around nineteen seventy nine. The story goes that lamont's dead lamont's leads senior had served in the first battalion. Fifth infantry in the vietnam war the infantry was nicknamed the five and after the war when lamont junior was just a little kid. The guys would often stop by his house to visit with his dad. They'd created their own greeting a arm. Straight up with five fingers spread as they said five

Much of that knowledge was interrupted due to colonialism but indigenous architects are finding ways to reclaim that knowledge and incorporated into their work today on the show from resisting the colonial legacy of architecture in this country to integrating indigenous principles into design. Now this was based on a study published in the journal. Nature and it was pretty enlightening. About how trawling releases. Immense amounts of carbon from the ocean floor and that leads to more acidification of the water and that reduces the oceans capacity to absorb atmospheric carbon dioxide. You can check out the entire article on the new york times website look for climate solutions by katrina einhorn. There's another piece of good news. Out of molly s this month. The History of Animal Trials
"According to author ep evans in the criminal persecution and capital punishment of animals. There were two types of animal. Trials are strengthen and their process. Their straw phin were for capital crimes. Which would warrant the death penalty. I e homicide usually committed by pigs horses and other larger domesticated animals which were presided. Over by a secular tribunal. Their processor were judicial proceedings in ecclesiastical courts against vermin like rats mice locusts and weevils the object being to spell the vermin from the orchards. Vineyards and croplands. They were eating by means of exile extra schism or excommunication in sixteen fifty. Four sentences were handed down against of locusts in a spanish obvious. Santamaria the last sentence calling for the locusts excommunication and in order for them to leave the region in the next fourteen hours bishop alonzo de madrid excommunicated another plague of locusts condemning them to confinement in a cave and a bishop in cordova excommunicated a flock of swallows that had set up shop inside their parish. These were at best here. Eric victories just to make the people feel better. While evans's book lists nearly two hundred such cases the animals in their process cases never really seemed bothered by the ruling domestic animals. Barely listen to us. What do we expect. The wild wants to do either way. It was thought to be important that the animals have day in court. Why not just exterminate the offending critters. We're pretty good at that. Since even weevils and rats were considered god's creatures the destruction they caused must also have been part of the plan so destroying them would be an act against god's will but if the animals were tried in a church court and excommunicated or otherwise condemned then it was kind of okay for example in the fourteen eighties. The cardinal bishop of autun in france ruled against some slugs that were ruining the estate grounds under his purview. Ordered that for three days announcements be made to the slugs that they were to leave the area or be cursed. They didn't leave so it was game on for the gardeners to get rid of them. On purely legal side of things were the cases against livestock typically for murder. Apparently pigs are just mad for murder at least when it comes to humans and most cases involved them eating the victim whole or in part. This was a time when both animals and children might freely roam through fields and streets and accidents did happen. Pigs may not eat everything as people think but they will taste everything and god help you. If they find out your made of meat it reminds me of a bit from zora. Neale hurston story where the family sow gets into the kitchen where toddlers zora is alone and her mother panics. Even though the sal was less interested in eating. Mrs hurston baby than the other way around evans describes one fairly typical case from thirteen. Seventy nine in which two herds of swine were feeding together. When suddenly three pigs became agitated and charged the swine. Master's son who died from his injuries. All of the pigs from both herds were tried and fort after due process of law were condemned to death on appeal. All but the three instigating piggies were later pardoned. The courts really do seem to have put effort to try animals in the same way they would humans which is less woke than it. Sounds when you remember how readily the death sentence was handed out in those days. I've never tried to hang a pig. But given their incredibly muscular necks. I imagine it doesn't go easily. Also high ranking in the crimes animals could be charged with was bestiality. Although those cases were usually known to go in the animals favor both the human and the animal might be put to death but sometimes the case could be made that the animal was not at fault as it didn't consent to participate in the act so it wasn't punished if they were convicted. The animal might actually be imprisoned with the human who got them in the mess in the first place. In those cases the owner of the animal was charged for the animals care and feeding as a sort of second hand punishment for as much as. I'd like to say that animal. Trials are brutish fossil symbolic of a decayed era gratefully forgotten and i've got stickers for anyone who can identify that movie quote without googling it cases persistently pop up even in more recent times in tennessee in nineteen sixteen. An elephant named. Mary murdered her trainer. The strangest verse of the cell block tango ever and was hanged with crane in nigeria. In two thousand nine a goat was arrested. After a mob of vigilantes told police it was a shape shifting car thief no word on how that case turned out of all the creatures critters and creepy crawlies that plagued late medieval france. None could hold a candle to the weevil ricochets artists not to be confused with the palmetto. Weevil rinca forests fabricius the largest weevil species. You might say are. Eras is the lesser of two evils. Working the first complaint against the insects was made by a group of grape growers in fifteen forty five which resulted in a proclamation for the public to atone for their sins in hopes that the weevils would leave and it worked a generation later though the weevils returned and the town was forced to take them to court lawyer. Antoine filial was appointed the weevils public defender after all. It's hard to carry cash in carapace. So they reason. The weevils wouldn't be able to pay for representation feel argued that his clients had been placed on earth by god along with the food that they needed to survive. And it wasn't the bugs fault at that food happened to belong to some local farmers. The prosecution who i will picture being played by sam waterston and his glorious eyebrows contended that animals are meant to be subordinate to man and the weevils towing the line. The villagers believed their sins. Brought the pests. But the pests were part of god's plan but but humans are supposed to have dominion over animals so they should be able to do with them as they darn well please this back and forth. Stalemate is the central theological paradox of animal trials. Maybe i'll recast the da as linus roache.
Predictions vs Reality NFC West, Seattle Seahawks
"I predicted the Seattle Seahawks to go 11:00 and 5 last year. I pretty much nailed it. They went 12 and for the only game I missed was the San Francisco 49ers. I could not predict that the $59 would have a bunch of injuries. I thought that the Seattle Seahawks and the 49ers would split their series each win one game against each other instead Seattle beat the 49ers in both games. So that's literally the one game it's kind of crazy. I was horribly wrong about the Cardinals the Rams the 49ers. I nailed Seattle. My prediction was right there for I'm actually not that interested in Seattle. Like I like I said, I'm actually way more fascinated when I get stuff horribly wrong. I said before the year that Seattle relies too heavily on Russell Wilson, they're starting quarterback 2000sq them from their problems and kind of ended up being true now, they brought in the receiver Phillip Dorsett. They brought in Phillip Dorsett from New England. I was curious to Phillip Dorsett kind of a breakout year and Go from a guy who was infuriating to watch a New England to maybe having a great season playing with Russell Wilson. Unfortunately Phillip Dorsett did not play a single game the poor guy hurt his foot in training camp and by November Phillip told I was getting surgery to remove bone spurs from his foot. I encourage you look up a bone spur does not look like a comfortable thing but credits yet. I Seattle try to get Russell Wilson some Playmakers. I thought we were set to not work out. Josh. Gordon did not work out. They brought in. You know Speedy Josh Gordon. He had a setback in recovery. Seattle had to end up cutting him so long so brought in Greg Olsen. They they got a veteran tight end Greg Olsen and I look I got a lot of respect for Greg Olsen. He's awesome. Last year Greg Olsen. However was underwhelming had 24 catches for 239 yards one touchdown played an only 11 games missed a couple of games with an injury. So in the end Greg Olsen retired, so Phillip Dorsett, Josh Gordon, Greg Olsen, like the move Seattle made to try to support Russell Wilson just didn't work out and that's not bad. It just it didn't it didn't work. Unfortunately right now again, I love Greg Olsen. He's amazing. I cannot wait to hear the guy in the broadcast booth next year. But now the one thing that came out very very well for Seattle on offense was DK Metcalf. G came back up Seattle second-year receiver. Oh my gosh. This guy is a monster. He had 83 catches for 1303 yards 10 touchdowns. I love to see that DK Metcalf is a receiver that is just at the beginning of his eventual domination over the NFL. He already does dominate in some games. So he keeps getting better and better and he keep getting better and better the more we watch him. Now as I look back on Seattle season, one of the things that kind of sticks out to me that's very weird still is I just did not love their 2020 first-round picks Seattle is kind of known for having weird. First round draft picks. They drafted linebacker Jordan Brooks 27th overall. And he was her early on so Jordan books now, I will say I'm not going to trash on Jordan books by the end of the year. He made some plays with doing some good stuff like Jordan Brooks. Very good football player solid right desert looks like a first-round pick the end of the year. But here's what's weird to me is that when the Seattle Seahawks went to a nickel package meaning that you bring in an extra corner or defensive back onto the field to basically stop the past when they win to track a package which is happening more and more in the NFL because teams are throwing more and more than ever before. In a nickel package. Jordan Brooks is on the sidelines not playing maybe part of that is because they were he's a rookie. They're trying to light workload. I don't know but it's kind of weird to draft a first-round pick and then not have the guy on the field. All the time makes me wonder despite Jordan Brooks being a very solid football game. Could they not have got drafted somebody 27th overall last year that could have contributed even more to their team. Just a question. I'm asking cuz I looked at it. I still book how it's bit of an odd pick life. Even though Jordan Brooks can play it's like whack could they not have done something better or maybe more interesting than Jordan Brooks just me asking a question here. You can answer for yourself. I'm just for me. I'm like man, you spend a first-round pick on a guy who's not on the field all the time,

Johnson & Johnson and other drug companies plan tax breaks to offset $26 billion opioid settlement
"Johnson and johnson has gotten a lot of praise for its single dose covid nineteen vaccine approved by the fda last weekend but as it works to end the pandemic. johnson and johnson is also among four of america's biggest healthcare companies that are negotiating a settlement for their role in the nation's deadly opioid crisis. Tens of billions of dollars are at stake but the companies are also planning to use corporate tax breaks including a new one created during the pandemic to offset those opioid payouts. Some members of congress are furious about this. Npr addiction correspondent. Brian man joins us now. Brian So we mentioned johnson and johnson but there are other companies in this situation rate. Rachel johnson and johnson's obviously the name brand company here. These other three cardinal health amirah source baragan and mckesson work more behind the scenes or these really big corporations that earned huge profits distributing highly addictive opioid medications and now they face this wave of lawsuits tied to that business we know from financial filings at the companies are close to a settlement. That would resolve all that. Here's a cardinal health. Ceo michael kaufmann speaking to investors last month of cover the opioid quickly. You know as i've said in the path that continues to be as you know complex the go a lot of moving parts but were continuing to make progress there under the tentative terms of this deal. Cardinal health and these other companies aren't expected to admit any wrongdoing but as much as twenty six billion dollars would be paid out to help communities slammed by the opioid crisis but now these companies have revealed plans to write off a portion of those opioid payments on their taxes. House that's is that supposed to work. Yeah this is really controversial. In financial filings. The firm say they plan to declare these opioid payments as losses which is a deduction right. It's similar to one. Anybody might use to pay less than federal taxes. So if they pay twenty six billion dollars in opioid settlements they could recoup as much as four billion in tax benefits and that really anger some lawmakers including congressman jimmy gomez. He's a democrat from california. He says these communities need that money they get away with it detonates. Less money going into into the treasury that means less money for programs that will help get with the fallout of the crystals the companies. Meanwhile say they're just following federal tax law and that appears to be the case. One of the companies cardinal health says it plans to use a new tax break created last year under the cares act. This was a law. Signed by former president trump meant to help companies that were struggling because of the pandemic is cardinal health. A struggling company. No and this again is why this is so controversial. These health care and drug companies have done really well financially over the last year but cardinal health has confirmed it still plans to use that pandemic tax benefit to recoup as much as four hundred and twenty million dollars in taxes. Already paid out. The company sent a statement. Npr saying their tax plan is quote permissible under federal law but congressman gomez described. This use of the cares act is outrageous and wrong. His committee the house oversight and reform committee sent letters to all of these companies asking for more information about their tax strategies. We expect to hear some answers to those questions by next

"cardinals" Discussed on Jalen and Jacoby

He spread the ball around, but they used to win on his back, and now it's just a collective team effort Levian Bell I run was great sixteen yards or something news fine. What did you think about Belle's debut in this otherwise pretty boring game It was great to see him apart of a contending team in reinventing himself and don't underestimate. Brown, and now we're talking about bill. They used to be best players at what they do. Now they're vets. Trying to play roles contending teams. In the steelers are undefeated. So it just shows you how the league comes at you really fast. Here's what the chiefs are doing. That is jeans. When. You pay somebody as much as they pay. Patrick Mahomes. Got To protect them. It's almost like. The best furniture in your house or the Best Ardenne your house those are the rule to people don't sit in. Protective. Now. It's a holiday bring out the best dishes bring out the best civil where. We're GONNA celebrate with all. Right. Got The great.

"Staying in the division and turning our attention to the Cleveland browns. We have some breaking news that Odell Beckham junior has a torn ACL and will be out for the season. It was this play kind of a freak accident that put him out for the season also put him out for the game wins identify after he was out for the Game Baker, Mayfield been on a tear he was twenty, two, twenty three with the only incompletion being a spiked ball, and then he threw this ball to people's Jones in the end zone to win the game, the Bengals, but Jalen, we start with Odell, Beckham Junior. How does this injury impact him in the Cleveland browns moving forward? When Odell and the Huddle Baker Mayfield because he's considered one of the best at what he does it. All Dell looks at how is more of a one but without doubt, it's a need from everyone else and that's what you see. A guy like people's People's Jones making his first catch at a season as a game winning td because now as a quarterback Jacoby, he gets to assess the foot wall play in decide going to spray the ball to and not necessarily have the cater to my number one receiver. Now, this shouldn't be the case for a got it plays that position but literally, this does happen for some of those quarterbacks it Baker clearly fell into that category yesterday. Absolutely I, think there is something to be said for the fact that when you have a superstar receiving, I'm calling Odell Beckham Junior's superstar. He has had that production with the giants that you sort of he's in your mind. Are We gave him? The ball enough is getting touch run a plays form are they doubling.

"Jalen and Jacoby presented by Samuel Adams. Rose I'm David Jacoby Jalen. What is? That we do. We. Know. Sat. There is so much to discuss the day we have an update on the status of Del Beckham, junior, it is not good news this also really bad news for the cowboys, but we start with the NFL action ended last night, and this is espn the you're watching. But when it's Jalen Jacoby, sometimes it turns into the Cardinals News Network. That's right. We picked the cardinals weeks ago. This was going to be team and it paid off last night in crazy back and forth overtime win for those cardinals with Kinda. Murray? Out. Russell Wilson Russell Wilson Jalen what did you see from the young quarterback for the car? I saw the cardinals actually coronate a franchise quarterback in Kyle Murray in his leadership been commanded, he has on his teammates in the respected he's Garner not only throwing the football but running the football where you had an all pro receiver light Andrea Hopkins go into Cliff Kingsbury system and you have veterans like Larry Fitzgerald this young man has grown until himself and so now to see that evolution, they play against somebody like Russell Wilson basically was the shorter quarterback who pave the way they both played baseball at some point in their careers infant them the show upon that state and be led by Kyla Murray is refreshing to see him become a franchise quarterback. Early in this game didn't feel like the seahawks with. Maybe. A whole home victory for the seahawks they was down to feed. But nope, the seahawks refused to play a normal football game. There are so many weird things that happen this game. So he mistakes, Lake Kingsbury kicking field goal on second down on second down kicking a field goal. However, Russell Wilson made some mistakes and none bigger than this one with only a minute left in overtime this past I mean this. This. Just over a minute left in overtime and he throws a terrible interception. It wasn't his only interception on the day. He had three. Jalen. Three interceptions I duNno. If he's exactly lock for the MVP after this performance, what do you think about Russell? Wilson last name And again, going into this game, I'll told you that the cars do a great job with defending the deep ball. Russell. Wilson was the best at doing it and also they make you pay for those mistakes. That's the key. A lot of times players that end up playing defensive backs are converted wide receivers from pop warner a high school because they didn't have hands and so far the cardinals. There's one thing to be position. It's another thing to take it to the house. and. Those guys were making big time plays against Russell Wilson and that's and that's crucial when you're trying to get a win on Sundays who'd a baker was on his way to the house? Tk Metcalf tracked him down with an unreal play that had the seahawks won we would have been celebrating for the rest of the season. However, it was Kyle Mary leading the cardinals to this victory. This one thing that happened during this game that people are discussing I need to get your take on because it is controversial. Archive, Andrea caught a touchdown with one on one on the left sideline of the field and right before camera let go of the ball people are saying he smiled. I'm not so sure take a look.

"We're back on get up and I must say Grazziano sounds very sure of himself. I got how he does which is the only NFL team to lose multiple games by at least twenty points. This guy it's a trick question because you supposed to say like the jets or some horrible terrible. T non-competitive every week right? It's not it's a team that's only lost two games and sandwiched a four game winning streak in between it is York Cleveland Brad it right to the dismay Hembo that is correct. They lost to the steelers by thirty one they lost to the Ravens Bhai Thirty, two, Graziano is. Back and better than ever win needed a win after is something of a losing streak speaking of Twenty eight point losses. Why weren't we cowboys cardinals? How about the performance last night of Kyle Murray? He got a little help. If you will early second quarter cowboys trailing seven nothing and Zeke Elliott is going to lose the football. His second fumble of the day is fourth loss fumble of the season. He only had five loss fumbles first four years of his career. The first one point the second one would lead to points well, cardinals ensuing possession first and ten from the seventeen look cuyler Murray's. Why give it to anyone else when you can just do this sets up a first and goal Kenyan drake would take it in from the one that's fourteen nothing. But under five minutes left in the half cards, the ball at their own twenty yard line Color Murray only completed nine passes in the ball game but here's the really memorable one. Look at this diamond eighty yard touchdown to Christian Kirk. So nine completions for one hundred, eighty, eight yards for calorie. The also ran for seventy four and the cardinals role new eight, thirty, eight.

"But what do the rest of our? Staffers thing. We have seven and change opinions for you. Today seven different clips is really what I'm trying to get at. From our staffers are both on the site that contributed the podcast network to share here today because obviously this is the pre-game, and so we want to let you know what everybody's thinking and let's go ahead and get started first up in terms of staff predictions. Let's talk to Danny Phantom. Danny. Phantom predicted Dallas cowboys to get the DUB of New York giants I just like everybody did and obviously that did happen in a bit of obviously a bittersweet way. But what does Danny Phantom think will happen on Monday nights when the Dallas cowboys host the Arizona Cardinals. It's Dan Rogers on twitter any fan of twenty four. You know when the cowboys signed any Dalton, they got themselves a great life preserver someone who could keep the team from sinking. The only problem is they weren't expecting to have a miserable defence pulling them down. Dalton has his work cut out for him and while I expect him to look at times, there will be moments where it will look like he's making his first start for his new team. The cardinals offense seems to have all the right strengths in all the wrong places for this cowboys defense. The thought of Cuyler Murray's zipping down the field ordeal Andrea Hopkins eating the secondary life does not bring about happy thoughts. I wish I could say I was more excited about this Monday night game under the lights but I gotTa admit I'm pretty worried. The cowboys are still making too many mental mistakes and that will prove costly. I'm afraid this one could get a little messy. Cardinals double the cowboys thirty, four, seventeen. Truth. Be told it's hard to disagree with. Anything Danny said. I. Could go that way and it could. It could be a this feels like rock bottom you know. Middle of the third quarter right kind of standing around like wow. We are going to have a long long fallen winter and maybe maybe that's how you feel. Maybe you're more optimistic and I don't think Danny's pessimistic I think Danny is analyzing the game objectively because that is a legitimate possibility because we simply do not know enough about the Andy Dalton led Dallas cowboys. But. Nobody guesses up the cowboys like girls talk voice or what do Kelsey. Charles and Meg Murry think is going to happen on Monday night. GDP nation in the house giving you are game predictions meg. We've talked about on the show this week. They might be undercover scary, and by the way I mean the cardinals yeah I'm like I'm not looking forward to this between. Tyler Murray literally being undefeated. Native Stadium Deandre Hopkins Being Deandre Hopkins and. This dowse cowboys even being this Dallas cowboys. Guys, I have honestly and especially without our x factor like. I haven't seen what? To do with this offense yet I, it's unproven to me. It's scary. I. Said it before and I'll say it again, Andy Dalton and gravy need some color commentary behind this stat but he's six and twenty in primetime two and five on Monday night football we are playing the cards money but. He was with the bengals. Sad. So they only played in.

"While I hate to just completely rub salt and wound by. Lamb actually had a pretty decent game some breakout game against the giants setting career highs in receptions of eight and had four yards. So he's doing pretty well actually WANNA. Talk about your defense permitted because I think it's a good point. You bring in terms of adding color commentary to the statistics resident evil I think it's so you're just look at paper and say, Oh, well, the number one ranked or whatever else and granted yeah. You haven't played anyone that's seller yet while you're off your defense is doing pretty well, you're rushing. Defense Defense still seems to struggle. You mentioned the Isaiah Conversation in the forty niners seemed to do some work against you rise in that regarding what you think that would make sense supporting minute songs, the grid especially knowing what the cowboys bring to the table in terms of Russia's regatta. We've got a good one. I would say he's pretty okay does. So what is I I have no idea and they got torched on the ground by Carolina in job radiant at offense on Teddy Bridgewater was was running all over might Davis or whatever the replacement running back is he he had a huge day and they have like competent inside linebackers that's probably Tulu they have. Good inside linebackers, Jordan Hicks, devinder Campbell they. They signed Campbell from Atlanta a year ago Now to be the the starter right inside linebacker next to Hicks who you guys know used to play for the Eagles and they they're good players but they're not pro players are not transcendent players and then. Joseph labels him as purely and inside linebacker right and so I think that they're afraid now to walk back and say we're we're going to dabble him at strong safety. And they've had safeties out these past couple of weeks. Jalen Thompson has been on I R Buddha Baker head hand surgery missed the Carolina Game Chris Banjo who's their third safety has been out the Anti Thompson's a nice player, but he's not a starter there's been opening. It's not like the cardinals or sporting some transcendent defense. You know they don't have. Pittsburgh's defense where they can't fit him in. So Yeah it it. Will start to snowball here if the cardinals defense reverts to what it was a year ago and they've improved but not considerably and these offenses that they're facing with these premier players I mean they go from Dallas and they play Seattle the rams. We've never beaten Sean McVeigh's and SEAN MC babies become the head coach of the La Rams de they play Buffalo's off at they had a lot of good players here. Down the stretch three fourths of the way throughout the rest of the season and they've been allowed to kind of coast here for four five weeks and again had act played I think they'd be a rude awakening but you know for Dalton as long as he doesn't turn the ball over there gonNA be fine offensively the cardinals do not force turnovers. They have nobody in their secondary outside of Patrick Peterson whose approaching thirty who can intercept passes. Buda Baker is the highest paid safety and pro football. He's a fantastic player. He's never had an interception in his career Byron Murphy's A. Nice corner from Washington's doesn't intercept the ball their linebackers don't force fumbles. So that's why I think a lot of cardinal fans would like to see Simmons come in and maybe emerge as a lightning rod make a play here or there they have. You know their defensive line really has been decimated since you know the klaas Campbell era in Arizona and they let him go to. Jacksonville. So they just they have not been able to. Rebuild, and retool this defense with premium level players they're trying and I like a couple of other pieces but they don't have blue players defensively outside of Buddha acreage Chandler Jones and the Jones's Gone Simmons is supposed to be that. We're clearly not there yet. I'll say he signed for instance Tamara I always say his name wrong. Like Nebraska's very oh hey, you know. I mean you still he's alleged. Shoe a week take derided now why did he? Well. He's from Arizona. He's from the valley. So I think he wanted to place last maybe year or two and in the desert, but they're just trying to piecemeal this together to to try to do enough defensively hopefully, hoping the offense can turn the corner and really that's to me the right approach. because. Again, if they're gonNA make the postseason, if they're going to win nine games and get that last wildcard spot or potentially do better, it's because the offense is top five. It's because Murray is is clicking on all cylinders with not only hopkins but with Christian Kirk, Kenyan drake running efficiently the offensive line continuing to play up to expectations and the defense plays somewhat complementary football. I always was under the assumption that if the offense can be what we thought, it would be an defense was sniffing nineteen, twenty, twenty I in the in the NFL. Assuming that they weren't you know crazy turning the ball over or collapsing on special teams that they could be a nine win team and I think that's still probably pretty realistic for this team especially now with just a plethora of Injury San, Francisco has gone through and the fact that Arizona knocked them off week one. The fact that three teams from the NFC west could make the postseason I. think that's semi realistic at this point. I WanNa read you guys office that I wanNA get your reactions and make I'm sure you're familiar with this were on the gals area by. Your Guy Carla Murray he's actually Palette Dallas. And turns out. He's pretty good winning and eighteen stadium. He's never loss and he's one day titled and. Speed them one overall he's he's pretty successful in wherever he has been but especially. So Att Stadium and let me add another of worry that how is it? I'm sorry I was being Super Gallon, but like these these. Dalton is also he's six in twenty prime time to and five on Monday night football. Look Stop Great Bob Helen. Eagles. A hate him. Yeah I remember that being stat with Dalton that he could never win and prime time. So I guess. This is something that you have a factor in I. also have you providing commentary because when he was having the records on in Primetime who the? So you're. Never, going to be playing prime checklist like a good team like the veal Pittsburgh or something of that nature. So course they're going to lose granted the cowboys they they'll Clinton private discipline, Brandon's cowboy but. Concerning because you're like, oh well now you're our guy can you actually drive this train whereas tyler is like Nhl I'm not stressing about the Andy Dalton stats in Primetime just Strictly based off of the bengals. But with you know what? He's good. So I'm scared about him. Yeah he you know we. I. Think we take him already granted as a twenty three year old. In his second year in go into the season, he had the the MVP hype and aspirations from the you know the the media locally and nationally and I think I was pretty consistent with my takes dating back to the spring where you know if they were able to make the postseason and he had a good year that was that was plenty. Good, enough for cardinal fans because the difference in what we've seen with Patrick mahomes and Lamar Jackson, the last two seasons, and that's the consistent comparison for that third year jump and even wentz before Mahomes in two, thousand, eighteen, twenty, seventeen Those teams were all premanently stack..

"By Patrick Peterson. And essentially fault down. I wanted this to describe this play because it's it's really interesting. The way you coach these plays and sometimes how things can work. The cardinals have are bringing. A five-man pressure. Right, and so the safeties understanding that he's probably going to get a ball out early. On the left, they're running to deepen routes on the outside and then Stephen Junior going down the middle of the field. He's Diving in front of this safety, face the single high but free safety millfield diving in front of US face. With that inside route is always coach to run through the inside shoulder of the safety, try to pull the safety with you. If sims it splits the Hashes. There there is no way that safety sitting on that route from cover it. So, really interesting how you coach it I. This is the way it's always been coach for me, but eventually, this is make a play when there's a play available that safety on that other side there in the middle is really hedging towards Terry. Just attack right down the seam and Sims is going to be wide open. It. He's throwing a maclaurin. dwayne is I'm not I didn't downgrade Dwayne on this play, but I just wanted to say like this is where you start to. Operate. offensively. The play within the play it seems takes US vertical on third and ten. There's no way anyone's run with it. Just seems that it's an odd looking play because both of those receivers are just too close to each other. Well, and I. So the reason that Sam's, it's two closest because he's been coached to attack the inside shoulder of the safety. It's a the. Throughout like you're going through the safety, you're trying to pull the safety. So he runs with you you. You WanNa take him out of the equation once they once you're not going to take that. Question take the. The he's almost.

"Other you know the other team three times and took six sacks when people were wide open I I don't see that happening though I, really don't it could and I'm concerned let me be clearness. I don't think Dwayne Haskins is going to be an elite quarterback in this league through starts that would be a bet that I would actually feel safe making. Also would feel pretty safe making a bet that he's going to be a starting quarterback for a while. Now, where you can it be in that twelve to sixteen range I think it can be if he ends up being the back half of the league starting quarterback do you really want that? No, you don't. You'd have to consider moving on from that But you're not gonNA find out if he's in that range that I think he can get to twelve to sixteen after nine starts. That's for sure. I agree and while last year, he's not a rookie. So he has the benefit of those starts those seven games he started last season but last season was such a mess. It was such a chaotic disaster that any and. You almost have to you can't hold any. You can't hold anything that happened last year against him you have to almost like judge him. GOING FORWARD THIS YEAR So I mean in a way I said my calm that the cardinals are a year ahead of where the Washer. For team might like to be come next season. The big difference is they have a real different sites at the most important position, but I'm talking about the relationship between the coach, the offense and the quarterback. The cardinals are a year ahead of where Washington would like to be at this point. Now what about again, my? dwayne has been a standup guy so far saying all the right things nugget the stupid immaturity that we saw from him last year he didn't Tom Not tweeted at all after the US. So the tasks would be for him if he has a bad first half. And and Ron Rivera benches of just a half. What would his reaction be to that? You know knowing that it would. I'm not saying it would cost him his job but those situations come up. He'd go from the League done messed up to the coach done messed up we might we might get that on so. Know I mean. I don't think you will I don't think you will I think that he has a different mentality. and. I think Ron Rivera's presence. Is So far early on in a glimpse that we've got. Is enough to keep the owner at day when it comes to screwing around with his football team. I think that's true I think that's true All right Let me quickly tell you about magic spoon because this is actually something I'm excited to tell you about spoon is kind of cereal I. Think I mentioned to you Tommy Awhile back I've been eating a lot of cereal during the pandemic on my rediscover rediscovered some sugar cereals like captain crunch, which weren't necessarily healthy for me. But my God captain crunch what a great cereal captain crunches, but I've been eating a lot of cereal and I got sent magic spoon cereal. prior to reading this spot because, I, m into cereal and I've always been into serial. I'll eat cereal dry like I'll just pick from a cereal box. You know during the day if I'm just snacking I know that the the high sugar cereals that's not healthy and that's where magic spoon comes in zero sugar eleven, grams of protein and only three net grams of carbs each serving their four flavors I got sent all four of the flavors cocoa, fruity frosted, and Blueberry I. Loved the Blueberry and I love the chocolate, the cocoa they were they were amazing. It really tastes great. It tastes like.

"I just wanted to mention a couple of things real quickly that Cooley mentioned yesterday on the podcast if you missed his breakdown and my breakdown collectively on the game yesterday that's still available and I apologize we got out late we had some technical issues, but we got it at a little bit later than we wanted anyway The worst throw dwayne made was that third and two on the first drive of the second half when Cam Sims got called for holding back and watch that that is a terrible throw. Dwayne airmailed that thing by four to five feet. That's a west coast third and to Joe Montana, rolling out throwing an easy conversion moved chains throw to to Jerry Rice I mean John Taylor I. Mean that's that's that's that's what you see and Dwayne isn't even close on that. Throw it. Wouldn't have mattered because there was offensive pin Cam Sims but that was a bad throat I also sort of upon further review went back and watched the three drive in which they scored. I thought Dwayne was pretty effective. You know yes they went to quick game it helped a lot. There was also some dropback during that drive as well. There's the third one Sims Junior which was a huge play a for them and a really really good throw by Dwayne, that ultimately led To Touchdown you know that was the when when they challenged the twelve men on the field on situation that they had and that led to keeping that drive alive and they ended up scoring as well. I thought he was pretty sharp. You know he had a couple of good throats inman. He had a couple of throws that were dropped maclaurin dropped the ball that was catchable. In cooley said it was thrown too hard and felt. The to Gibson was too hard as well but he did drop those right in the proverbial bucket with dimes I thought he was much better in the second half Ron Rivera said yesterday that he's going to fast that he's thinking too quickly that he is seeing things he is reading things well, but he's essentially chalking up some of the inaccuracy in lack of touch to him hurrying too much and being too excited I think that that's something that you're hearing from the coach means that they like some of the things that he's doing, and this is something that they that they think can get fixed if he can just slow his brain down a little bit by the way, I don't know that that's necessarily what I see. I see terrible footwork and lack of touch at times but maybe it is because his brain is going to quickly. But the fact that Rivera implied that he is seeing things the right way in making the right. Reads is a good sign. He also said about Dwayne Look we've put a lot on him. We've put a lot on him and it's just his second game in this system, and he also said the same thing about trap about two guys that didn't play much last year I thought those were interesting comments. He also had a comment about the time outs thing at the end of the game which will get to a little bit later on but Tommy hasn't had a chance to weigh in on Sundays game. What did you think? Well let me to start out reading from the beginning of my call. which you can read on Washington. Times. Dot Com. Slash Sports. Well. You can read it if you don't have an Antifa blocking device like Kevin. His that prevents reading. Length, no, I have to pay for it now I, have to pay for now. I've I've I've I've read too many of your columns in a month and I now have to pay for it but go hell you know it's pennies but anyway, go ahead. I. Here's the beginning. It's a quote from a movie familiar with a lot of holes in the desert and a lot of problems are buried in those home. You GotTa do it right I mean you gotTa have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. All Nikki. Nikki Nikki Santoro. Nineteen ninety-five. Then, I wrote did anyone think Washington football wasn't gonNA wind up in a hole in the desert. On SONA to play the cardinals and that quarterback Kyle, Murray wouldn't have the whole already doug. I mean that was it. It was collar Murray. You know. I mean he he just he was the difference maker in the whole game they just couldn't contain him whatever game plan they had and I. Don't know how you know if anyone has can I have an effective game plan of dealing with him? I mean look at the receiver he has. Yes Larry. Fitzgerald at Hopkins I mean that's just unbelievable. Comey compared to the Washington receivers. You know we don't know anything about I. Mean This guy. Has One Hall Sure Hall of Famer and another potential hall of Famer on the other side of the field. No he has to he has to hall of famers. De'andre Hopkins is going to be a hall of Famer. He may already with the career he's had already hall of Famer. You're right. You're right. And, so and you have a quarterback in the second year of working in system with his new coach they're together working all last year and now they're in the second year. So you saw the progress of all of that. I mean I don't know anyone who expected them that Gopi the cardinals and Arizona. I certainly did Oh, I. Think a lot of people were were, as you said, curious on Friday, but I think a lot of people had high expectations for the result. That was that was foolish. I thought I never expected them to win it. I didn't expect them to beat the Eagles I would consider that a gift after the first game, but eagles that turns out may not be as good. As we think they were So I think a lot of it had to with with just the inability to deal with Kyle. Murray as far as Twain it's concerned. I didn't have a big problem with the way he played I thought for the most part Again, he did he had a fumble on the sack, but he didn't throw an interception for the second week in a row. He didn't make it easy for the other team you know to to win with field position? I think you. The Limited. Weapons that had a big fumble. Big Fumble grads to that. But you know he was thunder dress a lot of the game because he hasn't had much of an offensive line and Brandon Sheriff went out injured during the game. So I think you didn't see anything from Dwayne that would make you think he can't play quarterback in this league and you gotta Ron Rivera's right they are so early in their relationship and developing. Rivera offense, the Scott Turner in in a short preseason, only the second week of the regular season. That there's going to be a lot of growing pains along the way,.

"What was it? I got my head don't. You can probably guess this just based off of how much we make fun of Kyle for this I mean I imagine it was a run up the middle of the and It was a two yard run seven of the. Same thing I'm GonNa go most incident calm. But I think it's GONNA be a run up the middle for like three yards I. So I don't know who's I imagine most or would start but I just WanNa. See the forty niners reaction when Moster trots onto the field of I play is going to be like this big sigh of relief this rejoice. To? Bring Colton to run the ball. Oh, man. Now it'd be tough. Imagine that if if most actually starts a series and they just throw every time and the next series Coleman comes out and they hand the off, our would be like an EPA try and an when I hope he kind of actually does that now I kind of do too I, I would love the entertainment but is there anything else we need to touch on before we wrap this bad boy up. Now Man I. So both Samuel posted a little hide video this morning that indicate that maybe he got the positive word from his doctor. I didn't. He had a little minute video on instagram. Forget what his caption was, but it was like, Ooh, okay like. What are we doing? Yeah. Yeah. I mean. So the niners had an off-day today no media availability. So they had no reason announce anything. We'll find out tomorrow on Wednesday. So I was like okay. May maybe deal was planned but other than that that's great though that's a that's big time. So I imagine that had his reaction had a lot to do with what the news he received. So it's I mean if that's the case it's or it's up. Eight and I you and Samuel have not practiced together, which is unreal to me that the two best series series on the team, a light like they will be but the two receivers on the team have not had a chance like play off each other or anything. So they're going to have a few days do that but I think. Seeing him on the saying those two on the field of the same time it's going to be pretty exciting. So I'm looking forward to man I am Kyle. Posey, you can follow me on twitter at KP underscores show us where can we find you if I'm in twitter at a caution of a K. S. H.? N.. A.. V.. Thank. You for listening. We will be back to. We ever do those where it's like the games like it's like a ten point game you're like please score to. Get the team team to cover cover the point so I. It's going to be one of those, but it's exciting betting on football game fun just because it added a little extra to feel like you're you are preaching to the choir here. Thanks for listening. "And you know originally when the schedule came out most most fans will pay like game. It's GonNa be it's GonNa be a cakewalk now Cam Newton. They got their. Start on on defense but if got Bilbao Jack, Josh mcdaniels. Cam. Newton and that's going to be tough game going You know from West to East I think it's a one, twenty, five starts. So it's not like it's not a ten embodied body clock game, but then they gotta travel again cross country Seattle a week after so that stretches difficult to me most fans I, feel like the taken us. Slight. If you say they're gonNA go ten and six or seven five. It's difficult to win twelve thirteen fourteen games in the NFL year even if you have a good roster. Just, the injuries, just a game to game season to season variation it's tough for teams to replicate the performance at the did last year So I would imagine somewhere around there I think Levin wins is probably good enough to win this division just the division is so tough and I think everyone's going to split those games. But I yeah. Eleven and five where I would feel comfortable with. Yet. So I'm bouncing back and forth between eleven and twelve wins as well, and we talked about this before we came on, it's not going to be this cakewalk season by any means. So you mentioned that little stretch of the the stretch of the schedule that is very, very difficult. So nine of their past eleven games are nine of their last eleven games for the forty niners their against potential playoff team. So even after that that Rams Game Out Final Ram game, you mentioned they play the bills who yes it will be at home I. Believe it's a Monday night game, but the bills are very, very good defense in one of the. Teams in the NFL. So after the bills get a week against Washington, which is great, but then they have to go. Face. The cowboys on the Road Division on the road against the cardinals there. Yeah. It is a sign that you're right divisional game on the road against the cardinals and then they finish out the season against the seahawks. So it's I just don't think it's going to be this thirteen and three fourteen into that everybody thinks going to happen and it'll be like a cruise control on the way to the Super Bowl that just doesn't seem plausible to me at all I. do think that they are going to win i. think that most of these games are going to be entertaining and just heart attack games like last year but it'll be it'll be exciting and it'll be fun now keep. The blue the blood pressure man and will be very high this year. So I'm GonNa go twelve wins just because I, think that's why I've been out all season but I man I would not argue anybody if they said no eleven or even ten because you can make arguments because you know there's there's going to be stretches and lows it's it's just so tough to get up every game we saw that Vulcans last year ads he's. Not Having, sport works. Let's go ahead now going GonNa say the other thing is you know this season they have legitimate expectations last no one expected shit. So it was really easy for them to just you know play that card and go out and you know play that way whereas this year they're going to get every teams best shot right and it's going to be a lot heavier to carry that sort of a burden week tweet but just continuing with this season predictions going through bedding lines this week and I want some I have some regular season props I wanted to ask you Jimmy Garoppolo passing yards over under it's thirty nine hundred right now. I would say over just like. This what did he have last year? Didn't you have right around? Yeah. Yeah. So so yeah, I would go over just because I'd imagine he's going to have the opportunities to make plays. Downfield. Just with. Having, a legitimate deep threat in. For the for the majority of the season like assuming he stays healthy or as yet. Emmanuel. Sanders somebody that you can count on opposite of deebo Samuel. So another year of Depot Samuel I you quote unquote healthy. Trent Taylor were assuming that he's healthy and then you know you have that possession dying Kendrick born and whatever anybody else gives you. Obviously, you know if you get anything from. Sherry but you know we're going to believe that when we see it yet. So I I believe I would go over there just because I I just have a hard time believing his numbers will go will be worse than last year. Okay, and then over under twenty six and a half touchdowns. The, it's going to be right man. That's a great vegas every great. So last year he was twenty seven and thirteen right houses. Yeah Man. So the question is really going to be will his touchdowns come in bunches? The. Cardinals Saints Type Games where he's throwing at three three and four because it'll be tough and saying that will have those games where he's going like one zero, zero two. So man I I would you can't push twenty six and a half so. I mean, I'll I'll say over and I'll say he gets twenty seven again I'd go over to the head you know the Baltimore game was a monsoon game the Washington game monsoon get spare He's also caroline was a blow out like. He has all these gains where he's being pulled in the fourth quarter. So that's a fair I would I would think over on twenty six and a half thirty would be my cap I'd say. Thirty A lot. Now just curious I was going through these today just doesn't season's about to start and I was looking at these God they always do such a good job of like picking these numbers where it really makes you think so does. So that's that's a good segue into our team MVP who is going to be the team MVP for the two thousand, twenty, hundred, forty, niners. I also think he's going to be the defensive player of the year. I. Think it's going to be Nick Bosa. I think the preseason offseason hype on Nick Bosa. Becoming the defensive player of the year leading this team with Saks, pressures and just the way he plays right with the motor he has with the effort he gives a three down player. I think he's GonNa be in the running for DP and Consequently I think he's going to be the team MVP. I.

"Point four five. Era Their starters two point four there relievers two point five six a league best two point seven eight fielding independent pitching a strikeout rate second best in baseball of nine point four one per nine innings a major league baseball best walk rate of two point. Oh eight a sparkling one point six three walks per nine innings by their starters and an eye popping six point four wins above replacement by their pitching staff their starters accounting for five point three wins above replacement one win about replacement for their relievers the cardinals meanwhile treaded water on their way to a five hundred record at about league average bridge marks now. This isn't to say that the cardinals were dealing with some injuries Carlos. Martinez was shut down late in the year. Adam wainwright was still working his way back from an Achilles Italy's debt would land him in the bullpen. I'll be effective role in the postseason but the cardinal's collectively posted a four point one eight. Era a four point one three fielding Alina independent pitching their walk rate was fifteen database bond three point four five and they're pitching wins above replacement just one point four twenty third in baseball simply put the cardinals pitching was just okay in the month of September that's why they were fifteen and sixteen and that's why despite the fact that they won one hundred games they finished his three games in front of the cubs and eventually would lose the cubs in the NL DS. This year is a much different story as the cardinals pitching has been great and shows no signs of slowing down the cardinals also get the luxury of facing the Colorado rockies for three games before coming home from acid stand against Milwaukee in Washington and then wrapping up seven of their final ten games against the cubs that'd be Michael Walker against Chichi Gonzalez Tonight Hudson and sent to tell it tomorrow Michael Nicolas Melville on Thursday a matinee before the team heads home but I can imagine it will be a much different flight from Colorado to Saint Louis and the flight from the West Coast back on August the seventh after dropping a heartbreaker to one as the dodgers walked off the cardinals against you you guessed it eight sterling from Jack Flaherty Carlos Martinez coughing things up in the ninth cardinals pitching his carried them to this point and although twenty eighteen fifteen shares the fact that their adverts had a lead in the middle of September that they appear to potentially be in position to have next week. Things are much different different. The cardinals are executing. The pitching appears to be getting better and the cubs mirror more than one hundred fifteen cardinals than the twenty fifteen cubs. Certainly only seven of the last ten against Chicago will go a long way in determining things and things could change before next weekend series at Wrigley but for right now for the cardinals staff and their club Bob it's full steam ahead to the rocky mountains for scoops with DOT COM. It is officially been one month since the cardinals turned things around in a big way on August ninth before their game against the Pittsburgh pirates at Busch stadium after the Owen five trip through California the cardinals were fifty eight and fifty five in third place in the National League central and four games games behind the Chicago cubs since then the cardinals along with the braves have put up the best record in baseball twenty three and seven and a couple of games in front of the best records in the American League Tampa and the Houston Astros cubs meanwhile fourteen and fourteen since that point the brewers are fifteen nine and twelve the cardinals eight games better than the cubs over that span as they had into Colorado tonight to begin a three-game series against Iraqis rockies who have been a major league baseball worst eight and twenty one over that stretch matching the Miami Marlins Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles Israel's. It's ironic. The cardinals haven't made up any ground on on the Atlanta braves over the last thirty days. They have been simply fantastic but that could be a story for the first round of the playoffs. The braves two point six seven starters starters. Era over the last month since the night of August is just in front of the cardinals two point six eight the only teams that are below three and are both half front better than the Cleveland Indians the cardinals bullpen has been fantastic as well but the execution and the management of the pen by Mike. Show Mike Maddox and Brian ever skirt the cardinals have the best bullpen era in the National League over the last month at three point two seven and second in baseball only to the Minnesota sort of twins offensively during this great stretch. We've seen the cardinals put up pretty good numbers as well as a team. They're batting average of two sixty. Nine is sixth best in major ager league baseball. They've posted a three fifty on base and a four forty five slugging percentage. So what comparisons can we draw from now to two thousand fifteen the last time the cardinals held the lead this large division at this time of year ironically. It was the cubs who put on a late season sprint in two thousand fifteen as the cardinals also played about five hundred baseball similar to what the cubs are doing this year. The colonels were fifty eight and fifty five through one hundred thirteen games this this year as they tried to chase down the Chicago cubs beginning with that series in Pittsburgh on the ninth of August back in two thousand and fifteen through one hundred thirteen eighteen games. The cardinals were seventy three and forty. The cubs were sixty five and forty eight over the next thirty games. The cardinals went sixteen and fourteen over the same stretch. The cubs went twenty one and eleven so they did start to close the gap through the first nine games of September the mark mark that we've reached already this year the cardinals have gone six and three in two thousand fifteen the cardinals went three and six the cubs have gone four and fourth through the start of September this year sure they went seven and two back in two thousand fifteen over the entire month of September and October. The cardinals played just under five hundred baseball fifteen and sixteen and the cubs twenty three and thirty nine so what was different in twenty fifteen and what will be the difference this year. The answer is simple. The answer is pitching. Remember all those numbers I just rattled off as how the cardinals pitching has fared since they started their run of twenty three wins and thirty games back in the first week of August there at the top of every category in major league baseball the cubs are at the top of every category Major League Baseball back in Twenty fifteen and and it was their pitching that carried them to ninety seven wins in the National League Championship series it was their pitching that closed the gap from an eight-game deficit the first week of August two just a three-game deficit behind the cardinals as the season wrapped up and they headed to Pittsburgh to win a wildcard game and then eventually knocked the cardinals often four games in the National League divisional series. I'll take you back to September of two thousand fifteen the Chicago cubs lead baseball on almost every pitching category a league best two.

S. C. got a little bit of a slow start before you young kittens Lois in his first college start John in that second quarter he went eleven eleven for a hundred fifty six yards any seventeen of twenty for two hundred forty five two hundred forty nine yards. he he has been remarkable and you see that there are seated down here at. coach Mike Kerr Warren high school desert in high school in Phoenix and. tell you and I talked to before the broadcast about your farm my agent air raid and we know Graham Gramm Harrelson disciple of Mike lease you need is the system is out of the quarterback I you know I think it's both we would jump at the Florida Washington state how about the coming out party for a kids Lois V. as you say he's been just everything. was impressive the way he went through his progressions he felt the pressure Stanford really they they pressure one time with Casey to help slow was was able to break free and scramble for a pick up so he has made the right decisions he's made great throws I think that that was a difference in the second quarter Stanford had a few opportunities in young Davis mills.

"In place by by him from a schematic attic standpoint and then really Steve Time should not go without blame the Carton Arizona Cardinals G._M.. That brought in you know both Mike Glennon and Sam Bradford to run. Mike McCoy's offense. I may just it was a comedy of Ariza comedy of ineptitude from this franchise and what it led to was the team bottoming out to the point where they got the number one overall pick and they've essentially head to restart in very much are are looking instead of short cutting instances last year at quarterback and head coach. They're going for a long rebuild approach and that's the sound way to do it John since you mentioned him. I have to ask you about James Becher. He was brought to New York last year. There was quite a bit of fanfare over the the hiring of Becher instead instead of the retaining of former defensive coordinator Steve Spagnolo the giants defense performed badly a year ago. Dave Gettleman said a number of times it had they been able to get stops stops at the end of games they would have won four or five more games than they did in their five and eleven season might take on bet your has been that it's not fair to judge him off of last season because he he didn't have the kind of players that fit the type of defense that he likes to run. Just give giants fans your thoughts on James Becher on the kind of defensive coordinator. He is in on what he might bring to the giants given some time to fully implement his system and get the kind of players that he wants yeah. Absolutely I think the perfect situation to compare imperative is what you just explained. "I am your host Timothy, Michael, mckernan, and thank you for tuning in to another edition of questions from the audience. This will fall under the category of a deep dive and I'm looking forward to discussing the two thousand eighteen and two thousand nineteen cardinals with you today. And this is kind of a prelude to the interview that you will hear in its entirety coming up in a handful of days that I just conducted yesterday today is Wednesday, October, third, two thousand eighteen. I did the interview with cardinal chairman Bill DeWitt yesterday on October second. And so some of you may have heard some of the clips we played on the Ryan Kelly morning after or seen some of the clips. I tweeted out or posted on Facebook, some video clips of the interview. And so I. Have some of that context, but also it's going to be opining based on what he said, what I saw in two thousand eighteen and kind of a state of the organization, so to speak as they head into this off season and then prepare for two thousand nineteen, which would be if they don't get in the playoffs. The first time since ninety five where the cardinals will have missed the playoffs for more than three seasons in between the pennant of nineteen eighty-seven. And the appearance in the NFC s in nineteen ninety six being the biggest drought of the vast majority of our lifetime. So that is what we are doing here today. The question came on the TMA fan page about the cardinals, and I thought, you know what? I'm fresh off this interview with Bill DeWitt so I know where he is coming from. I know what he is saying. I also think I have an idea of where a healthy percentage of the fan bases and and what their thoughts are, and therefore I with. Those two pieces of information can can apply and kind of do a eulogy, so to speak on twenty eighteen but kind of state of the organization in my opinion, on the twenty nineteen off season and what the cardinals could should do for two thousand nineteen, not just for on the field purposes, but also for a fan base that had angst going into twenty eighteen. And as things just wrap up for the two thousand eighteen regular season, I don't see much less angst than it was when the season started. If anything it would be more. So that is where we are today. I hope you enjoy the conversation. I always enjoy the feedback and you are always welcome to send me emails for questions for feedback criticism. Everything is welcome. Ideally, the Email is conducted like you would have in a conversation as opposed to some of the shit that you see on social media, but if you kill it.

"You could have a cardinals and cubs LCS. That is a possibility because the Braves or the Rockies dodgers I guess diamondback. Could wind up with the best record of the National League, which would then mean if the cardinals were to win their series and the cubs would win their series. You could have the cardinals and cubs playing analysis, which is something that I always kind of fantasized about. And now for the first time, it's actually at least in some capacity a possibility. It's certainly an unlikelihood, but my God, this entire seasons, but an unlikelihood. So when I look at it all. I'm I'm thrilled by it, but candidly, I'm confused by it makes me go. What in the hell are we doing? Like the first form of the season, if the thing can entirely turn on a dime, and then when you attempt to prognosticate you go, what in the hell am I doing? How did I miss it? But I but the thing about the two thousand eighteen cardinals is many of the players who have played a role in the two thousand eighteen cardinals. Success were not part of the two thousand eighteen Saint Louis cardinals for the first three or four months of the season. They were down at Memphis. And so from that standpoint, even if the worst case scenario plays out in the cardinals don't make the playoffs. They don't get into the one game playoff from that standpoint, I now have a much better understanding and appreciation for John Zale exit on July thirty. First end specifically how wrong I was because clearly the team was not is not that far away because of not what we saw in Saint Louis. But because of what he knew they had at Memphis. And from that. Standpoint, that is super encouraging. It also makes me wonder what we were talking about July all the time. The offseason, which we never talk about now, which speaks volumes about how things have changed if you can take yourself back to that, what the cardinals would do in the off season. Because when you look at the pitching staff, you go, God, it's kind of set. Now you're never really going to deal with injuries, but it's kinda set and that's a really nice place to be in. I mean, it's an, it's it's set with young young arms. I wonder if Carlos Martinez is now a closer. This is just a, you know, John Smoltz. Ask thing that took place in two thousand three, and then he went back to being in the rotation. So then does that mean that they are super aggressive for a free agent for the lineup? And that's kind of where I think it's going. So in that capacity, I don't go into the offseason as a cardinal fan go and I wonder what they can do to get this thing. Right? And how many years it's going to take versus this is going to be pretty damn exciting because I feel like they might only be a piece away and perhaps move all in to get one of these pieces now, does that mean Bryce Harper don't know. I'm sure most people go God. Absolutely not. Some people might go God, I hope not because I think it's going to cost so much money and be an albatross contract. I don't want him to do it, but what? What? What? What are they going to do Dexter? Fowler, you know, I mean, he's not going to be a deal where your son. Loading him essentially, like picking up everything, Mike, leake kind of situation because I don't see Harrison Vader and Marcelo Zona going anywhere. So I don't know. It's Bryce Harper in right field. I'm not saying I expect it. I just remember when Derek gold came in for a state of the cardinals on on August, I, I think is when we did it August second, he felt like rice harbor was the one that was much more likely than Manny Machado. Not to say that means he's likely just when you compare the two, that's where he was. So over the next couple of weeks, what transpires will determine of course, would takes place for the cardinals in in October, but it also will determine where they go in the off season..
