" The Cardinals ride a pair of first at another big day from Paul go Schmidt to an 8 to three win over the brewers Nolan Gorman hits his first major league home run and drives in for, while Matthew liberator records his first major league victory after pitching 5 shutout innings, the lefty pitcher says the day was made more special sharing it with childhood friend Gorman. I think that's a very fitting way for it to have gone down today and something that I look forward to seeing a lot more of. You know, he's going to go out there and produce even on the days that I'm not pitching, but if he can do it on the days that I am on the mound and makes it all that much better. America Is Missing Love and Happiness

"I really wish that we could get back to having a large beat of forefront of our lives in this country. Not just individuals y'all listening probably most of y'all are Christians y'all know what I'm talking about, but as a country. Wouldn't it be beautiful? If we could just have God at the forefront of our country again, we could pray the prey over these politics when the politicians are going to draft bills or whatever they do. They pray over it. Like, why can't we have a country like that? Why can't we pray in our schools? I'm sick of, you know, anyway. Let me not get worked up, I'm supposed to be in the zen in a zen situation right now with love and happiness. But what's really making me even more upset and the reason why I feel like we'll never get to love and happiness outside of, you know, not retaining God in our consciousness or as a country, is that sports were, the sports world. Does sports world has failed us by and large. They have gone woke. I don't care about your politics. I don't care what the Arizona Cardinals think about Black Lives Matter. Throw the football to the number 85 and him running the touchdown is all I care about. I want to see that that guard pool like he was supposed to pull. Did he pick up the linebacker and did the running back run through the hole like he was supposed to in school touchdown?

"Volkswagen back, I'm talking to John's mirac Jon it doesn't have people can read your stuff at stream dot org stream dot org. What else should we talk about? Well, Jason Jones and I co authored another piece at the stream called first China came for the Uyghurs and the Vatican said nothing. I don't know if people following China news. The most prominent Christian in China has just been arrested. Cardinal Joseph zen, 90 years old, he's the cardinal of Hong Kong. So he's from the part of China that was free until 1998 under British administration. And then was turned over to communist China. On the promise that it would retain its free political system. Of course, like all promises made by communists, that turned out to be a lie. And there have been crackdowns and arrests and China put into place a law that anyone in Hong Kong violated the Communist Party's authority could be shipped to Mainland China where the courts and the juries would be much stricter. Cardinal zen helped set up a charity fund that would help fund the defense of people against such extradition orders. China just arrested him and everyone else involved in the foundation.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries Says GOP Supports Government Forced Pregnancies

"Issue. It's a civil rights issue for the baby, but I think beyond that. And we're going to get to this, I think, a little bit later in the show. Beyond that, it prompts us to ask what's next because it's one thing to get the legality of this settled. And it's not even going to be settled. We're going to get to that as well. But at least put back in its proper form. But at that point, you still have to deal with the reality of unwanted pregnancies, women who are in crisis, and how do you approach that in a post role post Dobbs world. But first you have to get there. And just to contrast with cardinal Dolan, I want to play for you Hakeem Jeffries on morning Joe, who frames this a little differently. Let's go to cut number ten. And so the battle lines have been drawn and the stakes are very crystallized. You either stand on the side of freedom or you stand on the side of tyranny. You stand on the side of a woman's freedom to make her own healthcare decisions, or you stand on the side of government, mandated, pregnancies, even in the case of rape or incest. You stand on the side of the constitution, or you stand on the side of the cult, which wants to impose its values on the rest of us. Well, okay. And this is the problem that we're going to be running into. Is forced pregnancy. The idea of force pregnancy. There's no such thing as a force pregnancy. I mean, you can say perhaps

Why the Real Tyranny Is Abortion

"You can say perhaps in the case of rape or incest that there has been that certainly there's force involved in that. And those are those are tricky cases. If you go by the data though, from the gut mucker institute, which is not exactly a pro life outfit, those account for about one and a half percent of all abortions in the United States. That's it. One and a half percent. The rest, 98% of abortions are just elective abortions by women who just choose not to be pregnant. Now, there are probably a lot of those are still going to insist on wanting to get pregnant, but part of that is about the easy access to abortion and the lack of other options that are presented to them. And I think we've been through this for 50 years. Pro life movement has been through this for 50 years. Pro choice has been through this for 50 years too. There are other options. There are ways to address this at our positive. There are ways to address this that are that are uplifting. And I think that's what cardinal Dolan wants to get to, whereas Hakeem Jeffries just really wants to focus on you have to have abortion or its tyranny without explaining that abortion is tyrannical to the child whose life is ended in abortion.

Why Joseph Pearce Wrote 'Defender of the Faith' on Pope Benedict XVI

"Decidedly literary person and a man of great faith. His name is Joseph pierce. He's been on the program before talking about many books. His books on Chesterton and souls and eats it in so many others. He has a new book out about someone you may have heard of, Benedict the 16th. I think you can tell from the name that he was Pope. Remember, Benedict the 16th, a biography titled defender of the faith by our friend Joseph pierce, Joseph pierce, welcome back. Great to see you. The greatest year again, Eric, it's been some time. Good to see you again. It has. And I just have to say, congratulations on the book. It's a beautiful book. I may not be a Catholic, but I am a Christian and I have been a huge admirer of so many Catholic Christians through the years. Obviously, Chesterton at the top of the list. But Benedict the 16th. Always, in awe of him, his leadership, his intellectual abilities, his fierceness as a defender of the faith. So it seems appropriate to me that you titled the book defender of the faith. What was it that led you, Joseph, to write this biography? Well, like you, Eric, I've been an admire of Benedict XVI for many years since time when he was cardinal ratzinger prior to that. We need to remember that as well as the relatively few years he was poked. He was St. John Paul the second's white hand man for a quarter of a century prior to that. So this man was basically the most powerful man in the church apart from St. John Paul the second for a period of a third of the century. And he's a time I think of a restoration for the church after what we might call the madness and miasma of the modernism of the 1970s where the world where the church or at least certain members of the church were seduced into trying to become like the world to sort of follow the world and you and I both had my chance to turn and Chesterton said we don't want a church that will move with the world. We want to charge that will move the world. And I think this St. John Paul the second and Benedict the 16th moved the world rather than moving with it. And there's a crucial difference. I think you're quite right. And I

How Can We Educate the Government to Reclassify Stem Cells?

How Can We Educate the Government to Reclassify Stem Cells?

"How can there be more pressure put on the federal government, especially in declaring stem cells to be drugs to get them just reclassified as, you know, frankly, the blood or anything else that we use. What is where is that in the process right now? You know, that's a really good question and I would love to have an opportunity to speak to some of the people in the Senate and even in the house or people who are actively involved in healthcare and the government level to give them a look at the latest data and safety factors. With what's been published in peer reviewed journals to show them this is something that really should be have a second look at at this point in time. But again, we'll be fighting the big industries that do whatever they can to lobby against this. It's going to be a tough, but I think it's going to be a very difficult battle. But at the same time, I think what we're doing out of the country is allowing us to gather more and more safety data to show and present to the government here that this is the future of medicine. And we have within our bodies a regenerative potential to use to really extend health span dramatically. And if I could entertain you for about a minute and tell you what happened to Vatican, this was one of the biggest moments of my life. So I was presenting my research how we could reverse the aging process in adult stem cells from 80 year old people bring their stem cells back to 30 year old functioning stem cells without moving or replacing genes. So when I finished the head cardinal and I was doing this in front of global TV and the whole college of cardinals. So they had cardinals from the Vatican science department stood up and said to me, young man, why would you want to make people live longer? It's against God's will. So you can imagine, I'm thinking, what am I going to say here? And it's funny because I looked over his head and there I saw one of the statues from Michelangelo and something it just dawned on me. So I said to him, your holiness, this is not about making people live longer. It's about helping them live healthier and giving them a few extra years of healthy quality time. Not that they're going to live longer, but they're going to be healthier the last part of their lives.

"It's <Silence> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> <Music> a really good <SpeakerChange> question, Connor. <Speech_Female> Spreadsheet <Speech_Female> on its heels. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Can't contend with <Speech_Male> smart questions. <Speech_Male> My answer <Speech_Male> was going to be shut <Speech_Male> up. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> don't <SpeakerChange> see <Speech_Male> I think we <Speech_Male> have a <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> set of data <Speech_Male> over a couple of years with <Speech_Male> Josh Allen at this point. <Speech_Male> That says, you know, every <Speech_Male> once in a while, he is going <Speech_Male> to be a little bit scattershot. <Speech_Male> He's going to be <Speech_Male> the, again, <Speech_Male> the metaphor <Speech_Male> because people love cross <Speech_Male> sports metaphors <Speech_Male> that really don't <Speech_Male> enlighten them in any <Speech_Male> way is <Speech_Male> you know <Speech_Male> he's the three point shooter. <Speech_Male> He's the Steph Curry <Speech_Male> of this league, <Speech_Male> whereas <Speech_Male> I feel like Joe burrow <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> last year. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Rookie quarterback, <Speech_Male> adjusting to <Speech_Male> the NFL, adjusting his speed <Speech_Male> the NFL this year <Speech_Male> coming off the ACL <Speech_Male> early. You <Speech_Male> have to get your mechanics <Speech_Male> back down and you really have <Speech_Male> to do it <Speech_Male> under sort of live <Speech_Male> fire at that point. So <Speech_Male> I don't <Speech_Male> really <Speech_Male> think Joe <Speech_Male> burrow is <Speech_Male> I don't consider <Speech_Male> him streaky. I <Speech_Male> just consider <Speech_Male> him really good. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> And I think Josh Allen <Speech_Male> is really good too, but I <Speech_Male> think it's just <SpeakerChange> a little bit <Silence> tricky. <Speech_Male> A little bit. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> Interesting. How's that? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> That's fine. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> You can <Speech_Male> blow that up if you want. The problem <Speech_Male> with that is I <Speech_Male> don't know how <Speech_Male> other than to say <Speech_Male> we <Speech_Male> don't know what <Speech_Male> Joe burrow is <Speech_Male> as a quarterback <Speech_Male> right now, right? <Speech_Male> Yeah. <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> he's had <Speech_Male> and this is <Speech_Male> just by virtue <Speech_Male> of like, and I would <Speech_Male> hope that the spreadsheet <Speech_Male> would appreciate this. <Speech_Male> If you're <Speech_Male> having the longest <Speech_Male> active streak <Speech_Male> of like perfect <Speech_Male> passer games <Speech_Male> in the NFL <Speech_Male> right now, like <Speech_Male> at some point, what happens? <Speech_Male> Like you don't have <Silence> one of those games, right? <Silence> Yeah. <Speech_Male> I don't <Speech_Male> know. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I'd agree <Speech_Male> with that. <Speech_Male> I just think <Speech_Male> in the end, okay, <Speech_Male> if we are <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> coming on Sunday Night <Speech_Male> and running over the games <Speech_Male> of the weekend <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> we're sort of like, oh <Speech_Male> man, <Speech_Male> he just <Speech_Male> missed <Speech_Male> three throws <Speech_Male> and that was <Speech_Male> kind of the difference of this game.

"I would say that my X Factor for this game, since you didn't ask for it, I'm just going to give it to you. Is Jerry Hughes? And I liked in the that first game, I thought it was fun what they were doing Leslie Frazier and co we're doing was. And this is not anything new or outlandish, but they were just having him sort of fake a rush, which again that conflicts the offensive tackle who's not going anywhere. And then just almost have him back up and just sit in the middle of the field when Patrick Mahomes is throwing the ball and the chiefs have so many of those crossing concepts and it was almost like, well I'm just gonna stand here and everybody else is already covered, so this is just a different thing for you to have to deal with. And he was almost just like waving his heads in front of Patrick Mahomes's face and being like, okay, try to figure out tyreek hills behind here somewhere, but I don't think you can find him. And so I think that was sort of an interesting take on that where and then Hughes could rush. Strategically. And I think that they did that really well. They mixed that stuff up well. And they threw some stuff that, again, Patrick Mahomes has seen all this before, but, you know, veteran guys in big spots that have seen this stuff a ton of times. I like their odds in this. And I like what they did in that last game. I wonder if they do that again with Jerry Hughes. And the chiefs took a similar attack as far as coverage versus pressure when they played Josh Allen last time. And Allen didn't have a huge passing game. They just, you know, he picked up chunks on the ground. You know, they were taking the ball away. I don't know. I'm not sure what the best way to guard these bills guys are. I would say I don't want to play a whole lot of man coverage against them after seeing what happened to the Patriots. A week ago, but I don't know. Am I just a prisoner of the moment at this point? No, because I think that's what Brian dabel does. He wants, you know, well, I'll say this. I think his best stuff. I think Brian Abel's best calls this year have been against zone defenses because that way you can still impact the defense without exposing your relative lack of depth in the playmaker department, right? Like you can bring guys out and just draw a defender in and then create space for Stefan Diggs without having to just like win on these match ups all the time. And so I might test them and you know I think what Belichick's idea was sound, right? Because it's like I would rather have some good defenders beat than to have him just like basically use the rules of my defense against me and pick me apart that way. But I don't know. I think that the chiefs offer a slightly different flavor defensively and Tyree Matthew is going to be sort of the equalizer here in New England didn't really have a kind of player that can change the equation like that. But it's just so tough. Josh Allen's mobility is you can't talk about it enough. It just changes everything. When a player that is that large and physical, when we saw it in 2015, when the Panthers went to the playoffs, Cam Newton, when a player is that large and physical, and then you can spread the ball out and throw the football. It's almost impossible to defend. Prediction..

"This is the difference is .23 between these two teams, so basically a quarter of a point. And so slight edge to the bucks in this one as far as the spreadsheet is concerned. I guess that's an over time. Maybe that's like a triple over time game is what we end up getting. I'll take that. We're in need of we're in need of like a real banger, you know? Like I think we all sort of chargers and raiders just wore us out, you know? And I think we need we need to get we need an exhausting like we need an exhausting game that just like us has us enthralled from moment one. My hope is that the rams score points. If the ribs, if this offense breaks again, then there's nothing to see here. This feels like the game, though, that can't be anything but close. I just can't see a scenario. I can see scenario where the packers run away from the forty-niners, I can see a scenario where the Titans get a couple turnovers in that game goes sideways. It's really difficult to picture this one being anything but like a one possession game going to the fourth quarter. As unsexy as this probably is though, right? Like that doesn't it always come down to defensive line pressure, penetration, which team do you expect to do that better? I thought it was interesting. In the last game that they played against each other in week three, I've never seen both of those quarterbacks play worse under pressure. And I do think that both of these defenses do have some unique pieces that just throw off those kinds of quarterbacks specifically, right? Like Tom Brady hates when there is quick penetration defensive tackles because they're closer to him and they negate a little bit the best part of his game, which is I can get rid of the ball in 2.3.

"Thought I got a lot of confidence in seeing the cardinals just beat the crap out of Cooper Cup on Monday and then it didn't matter because you isolated Tyler higbee and Odell Beckham and they just beat you that way. And we'll see what happens there. I don't know if cam Akers has a cam Aker's game against this front and like we've said the Buccaneers run defense is a little bit of a there's a false bravado there. They're very weak on the perimeter. I think that there's ways that you can run on this team, even though the eagles weren't able to. You're not getting a cam Aker's performance, right? So where does that all even out in the middle? I think they've shown they can succeed when you take Cooper Cup out of the game. So I don't know. I'm slightly more confident that I have been in years past. And if you're Sean mcvay too, you have to know that. You have to know that this thing is built for the long haul and you have to build in some stuff. And now you probably can with Matt Stafford, whereas with Jared Goff, what would you have been able to do? Differently, because you couldn't trust him to run any portion of the offense anyway. Yeah. No, exactly. I mean, look, the McVeigh versus bowls side of this is really, I mean, those are two, those are two a list guys going ahead on that side of the ball. On the other side of the ball so my guess is we don't have Tristan worses on Sunday and then Ryan Jensen's kind of up in the air. It seems like Jetson is more likely to play. But either way, you have kind of a banged up bucks offensive line and what you saw last week. There was margin for error just because the eagles number one weren't doing anything offensively. Number two, Tom Brady really had a beat on what they were doing defensively. But you saw some, you know, moments where young receivers were not on the details like Chris Godwin was like Antonio Brown was when they were healthy. And they left a couple plays on the field because of it. There is much less margin for error with his offense here. And look, you're gonna have Jalen Ramsey on Mike Evans. That doesn't mean he's 100% taken away, but it's going to be probably not a 9 catch 130 yard game for Mike Evans at this point. And you have to have some sort of way to figure it out, which, you know, you assume it's heavier reliance on the quick game at this point. If you're going to have to negate what's obviously a really good rams front for against a banged up bucks offensive line. Yeah. If I were Raheem Morris, it's going to be interesting, right? The temptation would almost be to assume that they're going to do that. And as much as, okay, you want to operate at a complaint that Antonio Brown isn't there anymore. But this is a group of personnel that can probably win against a somewhat ravaged secondary that doesn't necessarily tackle well, right? And so you would you would want to rely on that quick game. You know, you would just want to have him get the ball out of his hands and then allow him allow whatever Vaughn Evans, all these guys to just break a couple tackles. And death by death by paper cuts, you know?.

I would they ask him. Will garoppolo be the starting quarterback next week next year and he said i would assume so or something that affect us. "I and i've said this from day one. They're not stopping the run I wanna see where raheem morris takes his team because first year defensive coordinator. I like some things are doing but again. I don't like some things. Things are doing the may trade with kenny young. He's gone so they might let me ask you this when you trade a guy in in midseason like this a starter. It's it's because one or two things. I don't i don't know if it's a cat problem but it's usually because you got somebody behind a younger kid or another guy that you haven't started that you want to get into picture and you wanna get him in now. Is that the best. Partly the plus is a big market form. So somebody's chomping at the bit. Deanna number one. And you and you know you can replace measly so you can give value than you do it. You know you're not gonna miss. It hopefully got a younger player that can become a better player and then the team. That's get misfit on all so it's kind of a happy marriage air denver. Yeah they gotta pick. They each got pick Next year strand onto future drafts but mid round pick wasn't anything yeah any any any other game that jumped out at you. Yeah the baltimore game. Boy you know ron looking at the nc these teams that are going like chargers the week before they're going into a buying they get embarrassed. Here's baltimore into a by. They get embarrassed. There's a trend there with good teams. That are playing at a high level and they've had like two or three really top notch games. They've been able to pull out and then they know they're going into a by and there's a let down there just as an excuse to scare the heck out of me like we talked about this last week but here comes again you think baltimore's on a roll and they you know i'm sure having a by the next week. Is that why they lost. But i promise you that it's part of something to that now. There's something to that you hit on that last week. Yeah yeah and. I didn't know what was going to happen with baltimore. But here's proof in the pudding again. Baltimore they just turned out. All of a sudden they're they're they're sitting at five and two with the bengals and dutch. Amar chase kit honky wall is about to hit. "I think independence debate couple tangles people other. Espn i think the cardinals are the second best offense in the division. I think that kyla murray is a better quarterback than jimmy garoppolo. And i think the cardinals have better scope players in the niners. I think the russell wilson kim counted out so you know to me. It's going to be a dogfight for number two. I think the cardinals could sneak in with seven playoff seed which is what they were fighting for last year. You know i don't know i see. Twelve wins in their future. I maybe i think we're looking at the nine ten wins innocuous eight. I'm not going to be surprised if they go. Eleven in in search seventy games this year. I still struggling with that as well. I just weird. You picked it up so you know. So i guess i mean. Let me adjust it so with seventeen games. We're looking at nine. Ten eleven wins eleven six now. Surprise me I don't see them moving. Twelve thirteen fourteen. Fifteen sixteen seventeen wins. But you know. I think they could sneak in with seven seed. I just you know. But i'm going to catch on one hundred percents. I'm not surprised the team gets on a roll in starts like six of one you know. I think there's there's potential there. But i think realistically i think we're looking at nine ten eleven win win team that made me get in the playoffs. So i guess with the seventeen. I'm still trying to get my head around them new as well but with a seventeen week sees everything gave me season. Eleven the ten right so if the bench most of the time. If you and six you probably you're really unlucky appropriate to get in. That's eleven now going to shift up. So yeah i mean. Eleven winter in this division is a total hard we said before teams that end strong even if they've ended up with an eight eight record whatever the equivalent of that is that there were eight date somewhere jeff fisher is going to be shaking his head ruefully that but the season indifferent different season but you end strongly. Everybody's excited about it as we said combustive. If it ends will a little bit flat were a bit worried. What if this season is a little bit like that. Insofar as it's a winning record some baked performances they hold a little bit farmer through the course of the season but they miss out. Is that going to be enough pickings. Brea they're gonna look at anything or he was ten seven eleven six in the top division of football. We'll give them another dance. It's going. I think it depends on how they lose those games. Losing them on some free play or by game. Winning field goal may they. We'll do one more year if they're getting blown up by the rams thirty four seven again. I don't see. I think that michael longest. I've had enough if you're injuries. I think he's back for another year but if they're if they're not competitive every single team and i think you're to lose competitive. There's no doubt about. You cannot lose all of them. But you're not gonna win all of them either. I think they're they're in it and they're winning. Some shouldn't win. I think that's going to be. That's going to help. But they cannot leave the games that they should win. I think that's what hurt muster and they are. They went win. The games should win in winsome games. They should lose then. I think could typically equal very back in twenty twenty that while they. What are the teams with deep diving. On because i think they are amongst the most intriguing franchises in the nfl. Right now and you've definitely Underpin that theory that narrative. Because i am really fascinating to see both sides of the ball the collins on both sides of the ball off the getting that kind of intelligence like josh. You're saying that for all the fans out there fans shits creek out there. I'm sure you'll know what i'm talking about. If not go and check it out first of all but more johnny to the main characters in it and a lot of the action around that hotel room. You've not something about it. Just tell us more conspiracy theory. I've noticed that their hotel room keep like the layout of a keeps changing like there was one show where david in alexis in the opposite way than they typically do and then last night i wife and i were watching. I think it was season three episode three. I might be mistaken. That johnny road was sitting at a table with is is closets and seeing but the direction of the chemo should have been where the door was connecting him. The children's wrote morocco positive. I look at my wife. I'm like that's not right. She's a no. It's not so. I knew i wasn't going crazy like the third time that's happened for. The room is normally back. And look at this. Because i figured maura maybe when i tweet i thought okay. Maybe he's missed more tinkering pulse during the premise of of this series. If you haven't seen it as uber wealthy family on their cops they lose everything. They end up in a motel in the middle of nowhere that tomatoes to get more as in the room to kind of keep it but no that sounds like structural fundamental continuity issues. It right because you have to have the door that connects the room by the lake at the at one point like the room for switched. Because it i mean it might ahead you walk into johnny. Well the bit-part plays that will barrel boys. Lhasa love love to pick up to get on. well if we're creek funds not saudi. We're not going to spend twenty minutes talking. Hey there's a been of show right there. It is the season i mean. Come on. we're with scraping stories right now but when when it comes to a deep dive on the cardinals. There's a lot we want to talk about. I guess i have to start with mari. Because he is the the the superstar on the side and that such a difficult thing. When you've got the andre hopkins. Jj what in the mix. But he's certainly. I think the player that is garnering. The most attention going into this season. Talk us through josh last season. Because he came out flying and was in terrific shape for the first two thirds of the season that it all went wrong. What d- put that down to was it primarily. Injury was it more than focus through his season last year. Yeah so you were your two percent. Right he started out he give higher out of the gates and then week night so the week after the bye week. They played the miami dolphins and he suffered a shoulder in from that moment on he was different and you know he reinjured it two weeks later week. Eleven against the seahawks and win. When when he suffered that injury he stopped doing what kyla mary does. And this is being completely dynamic mobile quarterback he was worried about getting hurt more so people really wasn't running. What's meant the optics became very dimensional. Which the cooking very really didn't do a good job of adapting the offense to that injury right. he'd he did not basically revamp the offense to make it work within the confines. What kyla murray can deal. And you know what we saw was a team. That really don't have an identity. That second half of the season ended showed you know. They lost three Three in a row below four out of five would've lost five in a row but wasn't for the hail mary Gender hopkins against the bills. I think all that's because the it's simple could kingsbury did not go and say okay. What can you do. What can we do offense within the limitations of pilot. murray right now dan. We don't think the big took back and went to the season. Said we need to find guys that we could adapt with into. That's aj green. That's james connor. I think those guys are going to make a huge difference because it kind of more gets hurt again than they have the pieces to go in adapted to go into make changes on the flaw the personnel. Whether or not they had the coach do it. I think is still the big question. We see a situation similar to last year. I just don't know how much kingsbury how much longer co kingsbury is gonna last. Let's talk about that kings pre because he is one of those coaches inevitably invariably every season as we go into the season there x number of coaches on the halsey. Right kings priests seems to be one of those countries family on that is it because i mean it's interesting. You talk about his strategic tactical shortcomings mid mid season outside of that. Is it difficult for him. Because the expectation was he's coming into the nfl cottam. Murray is going to be as franchise quarterback it's going to be far walks and explosions. And i know that we are elements of that particular with the first part the season with the andre coming in but it is not an issue for kingsbury that the expectation levels were sky high. This was going to be a revolutionary offensive genius and hasn't lived up to that.

"Just Patriots keeping it close in should be because they kept doing stupid turnovers and the cardinals not taking any of those turnovers and doing anything with them because except for putting the iraqis on the field and kick goals. He was their offense. They heavy was awesome. Okay i know you guys think it's ridiculous that we're talking about kickers here we get it get it. You should get it with you. Know the crew. And adam terry had he was the kicker for you guys the season neil rackers was a drive saver for this team for a number of years and kept them in a lot of games and and and it was just as much as this team didn't amount to much during this era. I mean you'll forget the they did make the super bowl in two thousand seven so this just a few years away from that. Where rackers was the kicker and they made that playoff run. But like when you're young trying to figure it out team having kicker that could you know automatic from fifty five plus was a big deal not to mention. He was according to many more handsome than tom brady. So it just. The cardinals had to have something going for it. They might as well have a supercharge create a player style. Kicker that had amazing looks like me. Play around one guy who worked with. He's a bills. Fan is favor players brandon mormon Of course so built like we said bills fans have it worse. You have kickers. They can root for. Its punters. wichita you guys play worse. Speaking of punters scott player the cardinals punter the last guy left in the nfl to wear the single bar helmet. He's in this game such a goober those. Those are the dumbest helmets there. They didn't do anything. Because it's like it's like like a chinstrap basically and strap at that point just not wear one or is it like part of the nfl rules. You have to have a you have to have a phase as we look at foggy will do. I just don't understand like i. I get like it just all aspects of life. There are certain things where it's like. You know you wanna wear stuff that offer different because it speaks to who you are and then there are some things that are just so awful looking like just even if you're trying to go for something here just don't do it and the scott players single bar like the cardinals would have the last guy ever to wear the single bar helmet like those are the types of things that the cardinals have in. Nfl history shirt on that continuum than that shirt is. It's up there but As you are just like a part of a lot about you steve. Let's let's just say i. I think that face mask is second worst only to Ugly was sandiego hundred. The time he had it like thin double bar but like the top of it like we're like go over. His is kind of like raised up almost like his face mask had raised eyebrows. So it gave the whole helmet a quizzical look. And every time i look at it. I couldn't help. i had to laugh at. It is the most ridiculous helmet like. Why do you need that to go up. Those is it. So is it blocking your view. I don't understand like don't you come on. But it's the dumbest phase hunters are so weird. If we're talking about helmets to can we talk about. How larry fitzgerald has the same hunter palate in this game. Then he still does this most race. That retro like rio helmet you know. That was super cool and trendy at the time and now literally. No one else has except for larry is just everything grandfathered and nobody else's allowed to wear. Those probably probably not amazing..

"He was kind of talented problem. Was cardinals had horrible offensive line. You know it was the cowboys that discovered that leonard davis would-be better at playing guard than a tackle But they they wrote out. Leonard davis who is a former top five pick out of texas at tackle for years and he was among the league leaders and false starts and he was just covering the blind side of these quarterbacks than they had. No chance yet did seem that way. Yeah like fable coming off at end every time even spend some care ahead st louis cardinals touchdown score in this game. Probably the most famous name in the game except for tom brady was talked about. It didn't you. I don't even really remember him. Being on the cardinals. Definitely if you said. Emmett smith is a cardinal a touchdown in the game against the patriots he go. Are you sure that sounds like so. Yeah emmett smith He was one of many professional athletes. Who like many like to retire. Coming to the state of the state of arizona. A lot of professional athletes like to move to arizona to finish their careers Ahead of their retirement. There's a long list of people in across all professional sports. You know the suns diamondbacks. The cardinals had more than their fair share. But the emmett smith arrow was weird because everyone hated him here really the cardinals and the cardinals in cowboys up until a few years before that were in the same division when the cardinals i moved to the valley. They did not take them out of the nfc east. It wasn't until. I think the late nineties that they to wasn't it. Yeah i forgive me realignment with the idea. Yeah they they did that whole realignment so where you see it out is today but that was it was within a few years like you said maybe two thousand and two that you know. The cardinals were no longer in the same division as the cowboys. And i i have. Ptsd of going to sun devil stadium and having to deal with cowboys. Fans are worst in in all of sports in my opinion and so. I can do boston fan wearing a shirt. That has just literally a collage of tom. Brady's face yeah yeah. I know. I don't have anything against boston teams. So maybe if. I was around boston teams more. That might be different. I was around cowboys..

We have money jerry joining us because a big area. Zona cardinals fan so proud. He is the big arizona cardinals. The only one i know shocking. Jerry thanks for joining us. Yeah it's a pleasure to kinda step outside of your comfort zone and join. Another teams podcast. This'll be a first for me so excited to get into the weeds and explained to pats nation. That we're not the biggest joke of a franchise that everyone thinks we are. We're in the same divisions the bill. So we we're on your side. Okay thank you should see bills fan right now. They are living their best life because they won the east for the first time in twenty years and they don't know what to do with it. It's fantastic. i'm sure there's a comp to how us in phoenix suns fans about. How just defeated the lakers in the first round of the playoffs. And i'm sure lakers fans are looking at us very similar similarly to how you guys look at bills fan so i kind of empathize a little bit with them. But everyone in boston's happy about that. So sons go. Everybody go everybody else. Yeah all right. So jared just to get an idea of how did you become cardinals fan by clicking on my mind. Yeah well to start. I'm born and raised in phoenix and the cardinals arrived from saint louis. When i was two years old they came to the valley of the son played at sun. Devil stadium my parents big football fans. My mom grew up in chicago so she was We're coming off. A few years past few is ahead of the cardinals come into arizona. We watched the chicago bears in the one of the greatest off seasons ever from a football team and then my dad is from new york but was not giants or jets fan. He had a lot of family in miami. So you guys won't be pleased to know that he's he's he actually was a dolphins fan johnston. Yeah right yeah. I i think it is. I think it's way better personally but So you know a lot of scenarios zona still to this day. There isn't really a true. You know contingent of people who are from phoenix. There's just you know my generation and younger is really the first full-fledged. Bigger population of people. Who are actually from the phoenix. Arizona phoenix area. So you got a hodgepodge of random people that will come through. So i'm sure you guys when you watch this game back you heard how many new england patriots fans were at sun. Devil stadium that day. That was like that every single week of the season and so the cardinals moved into their new stadium..

"The cardinals giant stadium we the windows John clarity one hour from now to talks and Yankees the flowery report you know was terrible the Atlanta Falcons and I have to come clean on this one I thought the Atlanta Falcons are gonna have a great year I thought the door quatre going back with Matt Ryan would do a lot world a good for them in a you know Matt Ryan's been fine look as numbers he's he's been okay I'll but that defense is an atrocity know what happen to them yesterday you know it was back and forth for a little bit against the Houston Texans but my lord he will fuller look like Jerry rice he could have scored five touchdowns he was stopped at the one yard line twice in addition to his three touchdowns and the Andrea Hopkins didn't really even do much in the game and will follow was all over the place and to Sean Watson as its incredible game that falcons team is awful and I just don't understand how this is a team that went to a Superbowl obviously we know what happened twenty eight to three Dan Quinn was regarded as one of the best defense of mines in poor boy's been the head coach here for a long time they've got some talent but they could be no one of the worst three defenses in the league right now and it looks like their season is flat out of the way they spend money on defense and he took over the defense of play calling well he's not gonna last the year man you you know that whole history Adil defense that they used to run everybody has the keys to it everybody knows how to go to attack it and you know that that combined with the injuries that he had last year you know collapse or season last year but they gave up fifty three points yesterday no that was a pick six of the and to add on top of it but but yeah it was it didn't do John what's a good do whatever he wanted whatever you want to throw the ball running the ball I mean they they that was it is bad of a performer as you could possibly have for that falcons defense and a team that is now I mean the window is is essentially closed or probably had over how to have over like fifty five points in in the area fantasy football IT in PPR I play them by the way I played in fourteen catches two armed seventeen yards and three touchdowns great day of daily fantasy yesterday great day and I played yet played will fuller gets fifty six point seven yeah is over for an E. R. and McCaffrey in there too and Dalvin about his game yeah I know with the heat you want to talk about a guy who is he is he is that his size and the way that he's deployed it looks impossible to catch him in to cover his see the best running back in football man I get a quemar is pretty good but McCaffrey's got to be the guy right now you know in Dalvin cook said a good start the year but I'd still take McCaffrey's all more dynamic I think those three guys at the start of the year has been amazing out through Z. can there no se Kwan if he's healthy take on the most talented if se Kwan were healthy thanks so I think sick ones most alumax Christian McCaffrey's your deck now he is ridiculous such as the ball like sixty five percent of the time no it's it's unbelievable I know the weight this is the season he's having he'd buy it you can't really compare to anybody but I do think that it is watching sake what he looks like the most talented back but yeah McCaffrey's been unbelievable hi Dalvin cook been pretty good this year but yeah that and that that game was really exciting and almost look like another means you miracle at the end of that one with Caroline in Jacksonville yeah a couple opportunities with hail Marys at the end of the game Hey that guy he he's not when you watch him it's not like he jumps off the page but you just feel like third down pressure in his face he's gonna make a throw to get a first yeah which is really impressive for a young guy like they always send fell down interview element and Phil came back in may suspend the kids really humble is a nice kid he scored one of the highest Wonderlic test in the history of the NFL well he doesn't he's not what everybody's making about the bay we all have this perception is like mac Davis from north Dallas forty yeah he's a country kid who just loves football you know our minds road bike when Pete are all on there was talking about how I just wanna be a baseball player it's all I ever wanted to do is be a baseball player yeah you know that's what bill was saying about Gartner magic because he's really home always a nice kid he's extremely bright and all we ever wanted to do was play football that's all I ever wanted to do so good for him and he played well yesterday in Callao and by the way the backup for Caroline in house for now starting quarterback and do it well I mean in doing really well yeah you think about men she like nobody would be talking about Gardner Menchu if you didn't have the look in the personality though you know like look at Kyle Alan he's had more success in Gardner mentioned we never talk about it I don't had more success winning I think Menchu's probably to into now but meant to I think is definitely putting up more more yards and stuff yeah but I mean what's the what's it about there's more like like when you watch the game like I felt like men she was like the center of attention except for last week one letter for net one offered two hundred twenty five yards but I thought yesterday he was like the center of attention where would you watch Carolina Christian McCaffrey's a center of attention for them offense of Lee okay I can understand that there really aren't a time it was a why don't know we've ever seen a a back like Christian McCaffrey I really don't well I mean what a guy that's **** deployed out of the backslide comes off the field yeah I guess because even we want to talk about Camaro yeah he is he splits time you know he's put a ton of time within growing in a ton of time with the TV is Marie too I mean se Kwan he's not on the field as much look at this question many actually highlights on CBS sports out look how fast he is yeah I know I know I just that that run was unbelievable when you're playing a guy in fantasy and that run happens that's about as exciting as football notes for you yeah it really is to be honest another team that is surprising been really really good so far this year but we're even though they don't play really exciting football games and yesterday they're quite tight football game they are excited yeah I guess I don't know depends how you're watching the game what you're into but bills and tightens yesterday the Buffalo Bills win again and all Marin Brooklyn joins us on the fans.

"Point four five. Era Their starters two point four there relievers two point five six a league best two point seven eight fielding independent pitching a strikeout rate second best in baseball of nine point four one per nine innings a major league baseball best walk rate of two point. Oh eight a sparkling one point six three walks per nine innings by their starters and an eye popping six point four wins above replacement by their pitching staff their starters accounting for five point three wins above replacement one win about replacement for their relievers the cardinals meanwhile treaded water on their way to a five hundred record at about league average bridge marks now. This isn't to say that the cardinals were dealing with some injuries Carlos. Martinez was shut down late in the year. Adam wainwright was still working his way back from an Achilles Italy's debt would land him in the bullpen. I'll be effective role in the postseason but the cardinal's collectively posted a four point one eight. Era a four point one three fielding Alina independent pitching their walk rate was fifteen database bond three point four five and they're pitching wins above replacement just one point four twenty third in baseball simply put the cardinals pitching was just okay in the month of September that's why they were fifteen and sixteen and that's why despite the fact that they won one hundred games they finished his three games in front of the cubs and eventually would lose the cubs in the NL DS. This year is a much different story as the cardinals pitching has been great and shows no signs of slowing down the cardinals also get the luxury of facing the Colorado rockies for three games before coming home from acid stand against Milwaukee in Washington and then wrapping up seven of their final ten games against the cubs that'd be Michael Walker against Chichi Gonzalez Tonight Hudson and sent to tell it tomorrow Michael Nicolas Melville on Thursday a matinee before the team heads home but I can imagine it will be a much different flight from Colorado to Saint Louis and the flight from the West Coast back on August the seventh after dropping a heartbreaker to one as the dodgers walked off the cardinals against you you guessed it eight sterling from Jack Flaherty Carlos Martinez coughing things up in the ninth cardinals pitching his carried them to this point and although twenty eighteen fifteen shares the fact that their adverts had a lead in the middle of September that they appear to potentially be in position to have next week. Things are much different different. The cardinals are executing. The pitching appears to be getting better and the cubs mirror more than one hundred fifteen cardinals than the twenty fifteen cubs. Certainly only seven of the last ten against Chicago will go a long way in determining things and things could change before next weekend series at Wrigley but for right now for the cardinals staff and their club Bob it's full steam ahead to the rocky mountains for scoops with DOT COM. It is officially been one month since the cardinals turned things around in a big way on August ninth before their game against the Pittsburgh pirates at Busch stadium after the Owen five trip through California the cardinals were fifty eight and fifty five in third place in the National League central and four games games behind the Chicago cubs since then the cardinals along with the braves have put up the best record in baseball twenty three and seven and a couple of games in front of the best records in the American League Tampa and the Houston Astros cubs meanwhile fourteen and fourteen since that point the brewers are fifteen nine and twelve the cardinals eight games better than the cubs over that span as they had into Colorado tonight to begin a three-game series against Iraqis rockies who have been a major league baseball worst eight and twenty one over that stretch matching the Miami Marlins Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles Israel's. What comparisons can we draw from this year and two thousand fifteen mid-september the last time the cardinals lead in the division. Was this large judge for scoops with Danny AMAC DOT COM. It's ironic. The cardinals haven't made up any ground on on the Atlanta braves over the last thirty days. They have been simply fantastic but that could be a story for the first round of the playoffs. The braves two point six seven starters starters. Era over the last month since the night of August is just in front of the cardinals two point six eight the only teams that are below three and are both half front better than the Cleveland Indians the cardinals bullpen has been fantastic as well but the execution and the management of the pen by Mike. Show Mike Maddox and Brian ever skirt the cardinals have the best bullpen era in the National League over the last month at three point two seven and second in baseball only to the Minnesota sort of twins offensively during this great stretch. We've seen the cardinals put up pretty good numbers as well as a team. They're batting average of two sixty. Nine is sixth best in major ager league baseball. They've posted a three fifty on base and a four forty five slugging percentage. So what comparisons can we draw from now to two thousand fifteen the last time the cardinals held the lead this large division at this time of year ironically. It was the cubs who put on a late season sprint in two thousand fifteen as the cardinals also played about five hundred baseball similar to what the cubs are doing this year. The colonels were fifty eight and fifty five through one hundred thirteen games this this year as they tried to chase down the Chicago cubs beginning with that series in Pittsburgh on the ninth of August back in two thousand and fifteen through one hundred thirteen eighteen games. The cardinals were seventy three and forty. The cubs were sixty five and forty eight over the next thirty games. The cardinals went sixteen and fourteen over the same stretch. The cubs went twenty one and eleven so they did start to close the gap through the first nine games of September the mark mark that we've reached already this year the cardinals have gone six and three in two thousand fifteen the cardinals went three and six the cubs have gone four and fourth through the start of September this year sure they went seven and two back in two thousand fifteen over the entire month of September and October. The cardinals played just under five hundred baseball fifteen and sixteen and the cubs twenty three and thirty nine so what was different in twenty fifteen and what will be the difference this year. The answer is simple. The answer is pitching. Remember all those numbers I just rattled off as how the cardinals pitching has fared since they started their run of twenty three wins and thirty games back in the first week of August there at the top of every category in major league baseball the cubs are at the top of every category Major League Baseball back in Twenty fifteen and and it was their pitching that carried them to ninety seven wins in the National League Championship series it was their pitching that closed the gap from an eight-game deficit the first week of August two just a three-game deficit behind the cardinals as the season wrapped up and they headed to Pittsburgh to win a wildcard game and then eventually knocked the cardinals often four games in the National League divisional series. I'll take you back to September of two thousand fifteen the Chicago cubs lead baseball on almost every pitching category a league best two.
