"Side of the NFL his the Buffalo Bills and every team wants to win as many games as possible in almost every case in the NFL. But I think that Brandon Beane Sean McDermott did not set out with the aspiration this off season that they were going to close the gap between them and the patriots entirely. It just wasn't going to happen. No team in the AFC was going to do that. But what I looked at the bills I saw a team that had finally had a cap situation that was devoid of poor contracts and dead money. They had the ability to be aggressive in free agency, and they wanted to by the time they got to late April for the draft be able to draft based on value and not only need and the. Uri still add on Josh Allen. But I like the way that the bills aggressively approach free agency both in terms of volume by signing a lot of guys. And then also the players, they really believe we're essentials. They had to address the interior of the offense of line. And they made him at the time the highest paid center in the league in Mitch Moore's, they needed to find wide receiver so John Brown and coldeze Lee, regardless of how much money they're making our deserve to make their players that were upgrades over who Josh Allen was throwing to last year, which allowed them to open the door in the draft. And next thing you know, they're sitting there at pick nine and a guy like Ed Oliver falls to them. Andy, I thought the bills they built the depth. They built the clinical blue chip players in this roster. And I don't think that anything they really did this off season. Hamstrings them going over none of the moves put a constraint on their ability to continue to build this in twenty twenty and beyond. Yeah, I agree with you. And I think all of they just pulled the trigger on as a value taking. They didn't have a huge needed defensive tackle they cares. And Phillips, in the third round last year star low, too late did not play up to his contract, but he's only a year into it. So I would have been there other tackle. But now they have some interior pass rush presents what I love, especially field is there last year their offense of line was unequivocally leased athletic in the AFC and probably the entire NFL, and that was immediately. Remember week one against Baltimore. Ravens came in and did all kinds of stunts and, and twists and gap exchanging blitzes, trying to anything they could to make those linemen move laterally, and it was immediately put on film, those Lehman can't move laterally in buffalo and now the blueprints out and everybody had their way with the bills and their running game was about being as a result as well. So to go out and get you mentioned Morris. The also got Quinton Spain whose up and down left guard, but he's a relying. The decent enough starter. Let's call them that they drafted Cody Ford in the second round Saint Adrian, Waddell, Tien Seki some veteran tackles, one of those guys will stabilize the right tackle spot. So four out of five oh, line positions have been upgraded there. I agree there the offensive line. If nothing else Andy they've given themselves several Dr throws at the board. Other than Morse. I don't know that buffalo knows for sure. If any of those guys will be long-term long-term starters. And I mean by that is in two years. But I think that you're right in that they at least have found somebody who will be an upgrade on Jordan mills at right tackle going forward. And I think the value of a third offense of tackle in this league is perhaps overlooked. It's really hard to find offensive tackles. If you can find a sufficient third one. It goes a long way it just really difficult position to keep guys healthy. Oh year. The next question that we wanted to address your Andy in terms of the bigger picture off season. Views was what coaching hire most in? Intrigued you and certainly there were plenty of off season changes in the coaching and scouting world. So let's narrow this to which new head coach was reading to you. I think it's your buddy leflore field because when was the last time that we saw. And maybe we've seen this in our lifetimes at all. We're both what early mid thirties around there. Thirty three what, what are you thirty to thirty one yesterday? Ration-. Yeah. Well, our lifetime have we ever seen a superstar quarterback have a new head coach come in and the head is mission is basically, to overhaul the offense of system and put in an all new approach. I can't think of anything if I if I spent some time in dug deeper, maybe I could think on example, but in terms of regularity. It's definitely rare. If not never happening, right? And maybe been MAC ado, four Packer coach. But I don't that was manning. The giants, I don't think that was near the totality that leflore is expected to bring in basically, in a nutshell Rogers ran a very simplified offense for a number of years. I think he's been as as. Good player as you'll see. And yet, he's still up and down by his lofty standards. You don't know if he's going to play on schedule or off schedule. Sometimes it's great when he's off schedule other times an inconsistent offense when he's all schedule. How much of that it's him how the system instead of dealing with all those questions again Green Bay hit the restart button and said, let's give them a system that really defines the schedule when it's a simplified offense to be does not have defined schedule as far as drawback timing and window throw the ball. It's not as rigidly defined. I mean, rigidly in a good way in this instance, leflore system will take care of that very much a timing and rhythm offense and I cannot wait to see how Rogers plays in that kind of system, I've been sort of struck by how much people think that Aaron Rodgers is going to be reticent to be on board with NAT leflore, like as if he has some sort of beef with him out of the gates. India's. If intern Rogers has this chip on his shoulder where he doesn't take coaching well, and I understand that's probably a recency. Bias issue because of the fact that him Mike McCarthy did not necessarily or not reportedly see eye to eye on everything. But I also find, like I tend to buy into this notion, especially in an ultimate team sport. Like football. A lot of these guys are cut from unique competitive cloth that Aaron Rodgers is probably much more amenable to being coached hard and learning some new offense of principles under Matt leflore, people seem to want to give him credit for. I am not at least right now particularly worried about this. I guess marriage is probably the right term know having somebody get married during the off season myself, I think marriage is on my mind more than normally would be. But I do think, though, that this is actually going to fit more than people actually want to give it credit for I've been surprised at the number of people within the league that are whispering their doubts about the been. I kind of agree with what you're saying, for is a tremendous coach. And he has details oriented, he's worked with superstars before you had Matt Ryan and twenty sixteen. Now Ryan's different personality than Rogers. I think that's where people's eyebrows might raise a little from what I gather feel that the Packers had a choice between Josh mcdaniels, and Matt leflore and mcdaniels has worked with obviously with the greatest superstars. All he knows how to handle that kind of environment, and yet, they still chose leflore. So they, they must be extremely high on what he can bring in probably even to a certain degree out. They I don't know would you ever hire a coach for his upside, which you do that? If you have a guy like Rogers under center, right now, you know, something Andy, I think I realized that these coaching surges and having talked to guys who had been through it to become NFL, head coaches, or coaches, that I think one day will be in the mix for head coaching jobs. Is they realized their application for lack of a better term for the job is not just should not just be about what they have done Xs and os wise and, and sort of what production. They've generated of players in old systems or in previous ten. In years, it's about their ability to do kind of everything else, which is managed Fifty-three, personalities be liaison between coaches and players management and players business side. There's a lot more to it. And I thought that the fact that the Packers were the first team to hire their head coach this off season was telling no I understand they had a bit of a head start because they fired Mike McCarthy before the season was over at the same time many if not most of their candidates were coaches that we're not able to interview until the end of the regular season. So I thought this, this coaching hire was pretty telling about how competent they are in Matt leflore my pick. For most intriguing coaching hire is cliff Kingsbury. And I'm sure this, I, I would imagine this might be the most popular answer. If we pulled it to the masses, but let me give different twist. Get to the obvious stuff in a minute. But I asked myself this question I almost should have put into a research test is I wonder has there ever been a college head coach who was fired and subsequently landed an NFL head coaching job with the caveat that the guy was not fired because he was going to take an NFL head coaching job. Like, yeah, it's, it's, it's really. I mean, clippings vary was fired from his alma mater of all places where he's not the most iconic player in Texas history. But he's certainly one of the beloved members of the Royal family of Texas Tech football, and, and that's not to say that, you know, he'd he doesn't deserve this job in Arizona. It's just such an unique path relative to where we see so many other head coaching hires now beyond that Andy, he goes to Arizona, where I don't wanna say deferential, but we know that Steve was influential in the role he played in terms of hiring the defensive staff. Obviously, steve. Gonna handle a lot of the heavy lifting with the roster and people are talking about a lot of the concepts that cliff Kingsbury is going to bring from Texas Tech to the NFL, and I'm not saying that there won't be a lot that will rear themselves Andy. But I do think sometimes, like it's just a simply different college game versus pro game in the sense that like if you're going back and watching some of the things at Texas Tech was able to do against one of the first teams they play out of conference at the beginning of the when they're winning the game seventy five to fourteen some of that the schematic stuff. You're able to run is merely because you're playing with varsity versus middle school level, talent. If that makes sense, some really interesting to see what crosses over to the NFL, I would imagine, especially with them drafting Tyler Murray, they're going to be heavy on quick throws out of spread formations. And those. The Amazon Diamondbacks end up with six runs on ten hits with no errors and seven left on base. The giants had two runs ten hits to errors and the giants left nine runners on base. They winning pitcher. Is Luke Weaver? And the former cardinal Weaver is now four and three and Holland does get credit for the save..
