"You know mentioned that she's had mental health issues. There's been other issues So it's been renewed for a second season. So they're gonNA recast though recasts. But I'm wondering if they'll recast the character or if they'll create a whole new character replacing like bringing another woman or girl to replace the Batman Character. I think they will use. I mean that's possible but I think that they will Okay so this is Kate Kane. The only other CASSANDRA. Cain was back girl so that can happen I don't know I don't know what they're GONNA do. All is I know is the Internet is going crazy over. This might take away so. It's funny that this happened now because this was announced. What today right when well this this article? There's another guy. Yeah okay. So right around. Wednesday may twentieth twenty twenty. This is when this news happened One year ago I had taken a screen shot and posted it on facebook of when the bat woman I look trailer from the CW. Youtube channel is posted and it. The reason why shared the screen shot of it. Is I have it at the end of the video. It has the woman title. But I'm showing the youtube part of it where it's like. Oh this is from the CW network. You're subscribed it shows the likes and dislikes. That video has sixty keilor. I don't know what it has now but at the time of the picture a year ago sixty thousand likes two hundred twenty. Six thousand dislikes my comment last year. Come on people the CW bat woman series is going to be cool. Two hundred twenty six thousand and dislikes really so. This came up in my memories on facebook so reacting to the news. Here's my reaction to this news. People have been hating on. Cw about women series since day one. My only gripe with the first season was that the alice storyline should not have been the whole season. Have it be five or six episodes? Give it a break. Come back at the end of the season or something and I know. The season was kind of hindered by the COVID. Nineteen thing but we're not going to go into that And my other rest of my thoughts is I think Ruby. Rose was a nice unknown entity that could have grown into the role justice. Christopher Reeve did with superman in all caps are right and before we all get your ans- twisted in your panties. I'm not comparing rose to the greatness of Reeve. I'm saying that they were both unknown actors. When they got chosen for the roles that they played as actors they had to not only embodied the character but they had to fill that character shoes and be comfortable doing it. You're telling me that part of her reason of leaving is that the hours are too long. She's fresh she's like the only thing I've ever seen her in is she. Was the deaf assassinated John Wick to so a multimillion dollar movie was kind of her big. Make me famous thing which she had a role where she said. Nothing in. Well shouldn't series regular on orange. Is the new black? Yeah that's a Netflix show. That's not a multi-million dollar movie franchise over a lot of people watched it. I know I'm just saying my point though is that she's even more of a fresh face unknown actor than was at least came from. Gee I don't know where her background is. Whatever where she went to school but Reeve came from juilliard. Reeve came from you know plays and all of that and everything else so in this day and age young actors. It's all about that instant gratification. And not wanting to put some of the work in and it. Kinda sucks. 'cause like I said they're either GONNA recast or they're gonNA do something else. Who knows I know they are gonNA recast but who knows how we're GONNA do it I basically introduced what Bruce Wayne looks like in this universe to now. Yeah I because they have Tommy Alley harsh looking like him. But but no I mean like I mean it kind of sucks when you have like a main show like that and she does play it pretty strongly but at the same time. I don't think that the show could have been better. I actually feel that about all of the. Cw shows this year. I feel like there's a lot of letdowns with a lot of the programming this year as especially surrounding crisis like before and after like. I haven't really cared for the flashes storyline all season. I kinda got into it but I don't know I gotTa Watch again Bet Women in supergirl actually quit watching. I'm like I had no interest after crisis because it just Kinda was going all over the place and yeah I watched it for the first couple episodes after I don't care anymore and so I just stopped watching and still with legends. Because it's just all over the place anyway although I finding that that's a little lacking to this season but I'll probably complete the flash and legends even though legends was when I was going to drop a lot earlier and it's somehow still made it to the second level. Legends IS STILL GOING THERE. Still airing episodes. They have a couple more left. I think flash just ended and it was. It wasn't bad but I'm not really caring for the whole buried. Has To be on a timer for his powers. They have to create this new artificial speed forests. And I don't know but I did find it interesting. Where they're using the mirrors thing and it's not actually mirror master I thought that was Kinda cool but I don't know I don't want to. You know say too much in spoil it for you. You haven't seen it even the most of the time. I know. You don't care about spoilers but I do want you to release go into it cold and you know whatever Yeah I don't know man. I'm just like after crisis. I'm like okay. Well that's the Arrow verse. What's next I know done with it? Like I know that they're going to air a Superman show they're going to air. Forget what the they were GONNA do. Aero- in the Green Arrow and the canaries. But I don't feel like that's going to take off just based on the fact that we haven't heard anything I don't know I just probably done as far as like the. Cw shows concerned unless they bring in Batman show like. That's the only way I'm going to stay tuned in to anything new in like I've mentioned the last couple of weeks I'm not a person that can just constantly be a on point and keep up with this all this TV stuff a week to week. So I would much rather wait until it hits Netflix. Or whatever and just at some point that way I'm already paying for the service I get no commercials. I don't have to worry about anymore and I can watch it on my time versus somebody else's time so so yeah that that's kind of the interesting thing as far as like the CW stuff anyway Now there is one instance where nostalgia can be done right. And that is the Star Trek Captain Pike series granted. We haven't seen anything of IT concrete for the new series however we've gotten taste of it already through discovery season two through the short tracks. They've CBS Alexis. Ordered Star Trek strange new worlds with Captain Pike Number One and Spock and it's still I WANNA say seven years before kirk takes command of the enterprise meaning either on the or another ship more than likely on the Farragut. As a lieutenant at this point the same spock and So the the interesting thing is they're saying that we could possibly see more downgraded enterprise than what we saw discovery because of the fact that it had a number of refits before kirk got it A lot of the stuff. Still looks like hyper futuristic. Compared to the original series in what they're saying is during the IT's another one of those cannon kind type things They're saying that Like in the even in the series they had holographic projectors which was never seen in any other star Trek. Besides they installed it on the defiant in deep space nine and it was on the enterprise e in Nemesis. But that's like one hundred years in the future. Compared to hear explain with that is they had this. Artificial intelligence called control which section thirty one ran in it became a alive essentially and Pike didn't trustor didn't like the the holographic projectors he laid the brief screen aspect in so he ordered it out of the enterprise and taken in at some point he becomes fleet captain inside assuming that when that happens he will order. The entire fleet does away with a lot of these extra adams and the enterprise also had some boosts in discovery because of The war that was going on at the time. And so I. I think that they'll downsides anyways. The nice part about this series is Anson Mount who plays Captain Pike brings a nice kind of mix between Kirk and Picard which is refreshing in honestly. He's the only reason I stuck with discovery season to And Rebecca Romaine who plays number one does a really good job at filling the role that major bear it had although granted they can kind of create them from scratch in a sense sense because they only had one episode the Pike and Number. One were even featured in right. Somebody mentioned that What's his name? That plays ratchet in transformers prime. Jeffrey Combs Jeffrey combs. He played he played. Indoor name. Schramm enterprise played and Farang Game Space Nine. But somebody suggested he should play the doctor around this new show because he looks almost like the actor that played the original doctor. And he's like well I would. He says I feel like it's past my prime to do this. You know and Meaning that nobis approached him but there was like a fan that posted saw when he was fresh before it went viral Right and so he's gotten picked up all over the place. So what would you do about the other? Two cast members that that were shown because they have a a navigator and then they have like a Yeoman were in cages while they had names. And he's like I don't know but I was just poking the bear to see if I could stir more stuff up but so yeah. It was pretty cool to see that. Come across the news feed last week with the strange new worlds in the Nice thing about it is. They're planning on it's going to be again a US. Senator Price Centered series. Which this'll be the first time since enterprise. Tng honestly that have covered the enterprise. So it'll be nice to see this kind of come back up the other nice part again that they're going.

"And I don't know if it will resonate with you quite as much Mike, but I like to think of captain pike as the rod belding of the universe comes in. And he's like cool a good looking. Thing and he has a report with everybody. And sometimes that's what you need you need that extra vitality, and you need to feel like you're thirty figures relatable. But it also could come back to us in some weird ways. Where if he's trying too hard to relate to his crew he could have problems later on or it could end up being like, the Mr. Turner from boy meets world as well. In terms of like like, oh, he's got a motorcycle. He's super cool, but he also able to like help troubled youth like Michael Burnham. So to get there get there button gear. So yeah, he does sort of have this like cool teacher vibe. I think more than Lorca. So it's an interesting dichotomy to deal with because I mean, I guess one of the unfortunate disadvantages of trying to say, hey, we're on equal playing field. Here is that sometimes it doesn't necessarily garner respect, and you could get into a too many cooks situation research have people especially in the first episode like, you know, talking back to his authority and while they. I did have the right judgment. There might not portend. Well, in really intense circumstances when you have to make decisions on the fly. It also look at what he's coming into. He's coming into a situation where you had the previous captain was very thorough -tarian and very much didn't like people to speak up against him. And it turned out that you weren't supposed to be trusting him at all. And he is a terrible human being, and I can see where you'd wanna come in being a little more kinder and gentler after all of that. And it's going to take him a lot of time to get people onto his side. Yeah. And I think that the relationship with Michael is really interesting that as well. I know that when I talked with Anson mount I got the great opportunity to go to the disco season two premiere that happen to take place in New York a couple of weeks ago, and it's pretty with Anson amount who was growing his own beard much like some are talking about the series is doing with this episode of. But he said that one of the things that he failed pike saw in Burnham. Immediately was that he..

"Because obviously we have just seen a temporary alliance for between the federation and klingons. I'm not exactly sure what sort of point. We are in the time line. Maybe they sort of similar to like the colonists of seventeen in seventeen eighty who had just finished writing the Bill of rights. I'm trying to figure out exactly what to put in there. Yeah. I mean, it's totally plausible than they're still like they're still at the beginning of act two of their rap musical about it. Exactly everyone's got the long hair like, they're they're they're they let it all down there. They're ready to go. I feel for these people just it seemed like they're having a good time. But I don't know when you feel like you've been off like social media for a couple of days, and you just feel like totally our the loop. When people make references to certain memes that you just don't really know about it. You feel you feel like you're few steps behind you pop in and you get the jazz number. You're like wooded. I miss exactly we just keep comparing Hamilton to new eat and for the rest of this episode, and I'd be totally happy. Well, look, my my social media networks in for me that there is nothing in the world. You can't tie back to Hamilton somehow. But anyway, we could get back to the prime directive slash general order one which sounds like something out of Star Wars. Also, its acronym is goo-. So maybe that's why they said prime directive. Maybe I like. Do better. I mean into now could do because and mounted so playful as captain pipe. But could you imagine like, I don't know. Could you imagine Patrick Stewart talking about GU I feel like that? He could not get that across. Yeah. It's dry. I think I think Kirkwood have a problem with it. But google. I think go work, but this is a really interesting situation for captain pike. And especially I know we brought the moment earlier with Seru, sir. Talking about how he feels like he's been brought here for a higher purpose in terms of these red bursts, which as you mentioned with these short treks episode is another interesting tie in. Because if you remember back on Kamiar, he was totally agnostic borderline atheist about the religion on Kamiar of serving this higher power of the battle and the gray balance of it all maybe it seems like I don't know. Maybe it's just a grander scale that makes them start to believe in it. But it's an interesting dichotomy considering the angsty teenage several that we saw short treks by comparison or it could just be that. Now, confronted by something he doesn't understand. He doesn't feel quite so arrogant about it anymore. And maybe he's starting to come back around to. Oh, maybe my dad was right something I think happens when you get older you. Realize your parents knew a lot more than you thought. They did. Yeah. I mean, the and the ganglia was not out this episode which was a bit surprising. Maybe that just shows like his continuing steering into the curve of this faith..

"And and like that that, you know, even in the single panel stuff, you did when you were nine that that's joke writing, and that somehow or another joke writing founded in in in human experience, or at least some of that. But I mean, how were you getting informed like, you know, because you're also really hard. It's really hard to write jokes. Yeah. You know? Yeah. I stay away from it. Falko something funny happens. When I left family guy. And and the Orville writing the Orville is interestingly the the the happiest I think I've been to. I think there's some really good jokes in there watching it. I mean because like there, I think the trick to it is you seem to I don't know if you. I don't know if you like inhabiting the style just how like whether it's a singing or Star Trek or whatever. You know, there's something about, you know, kind of rethinking these things that we're all very familiar with. But I mean, but humanizing the sort of crew the angle of that it's just a job. I think is very funny. But there's also like there's and you're not doing with the laugh track. Which is always tricky there, and you wouldn't do it with it. But there are definitely jokes there. And I kinda liked the responsibility being on me to laugh alone. You know what I mean? But even something as simple as like one of these mints tomorrow, and even that is so funny, and then like to set up, you know, this isn't the pilot though in the first episode, but just to have that guy. Go queens still drink soda like it's a very human question. But you know, towards the end of the show he's got a sodas as off. But that stuff is I you know, I like it. And I like it that it's not the thrust of the show. It's not all joke. No. And it got and it settled into what it what it eventually became when we found that balance initially there was there was a a sense that art this this we're going to have to. Self-imposed? It was it was this pressure to to kind of do what I've been doing less ide- V8. and piss off my audience, and it was Jon Favreau who directed the pilot and read the script and essentially said to me, you know, what this this is. I like this. This is good stuff. I like this. I this breezy read don't be some of these jokes seem like you may be scared of the of the story that you and don't be. And so I kind of I took that to heart as the show went along, and it really settled into something that was as you say. More about just kind of regular people working in space as opposed to a sitcom that takes place on a spaceship. No. Yeah. I kind of feel that they also because it's space, you know, the the suspension of disbelief is necessary. But because it's such a familiar terrain in that it is on some level a reflection of Star Trek. Right. So so you're kind of your cool with that. And there's definitely a lot of space in space, you know, at work environment. Like, it's very tricky to create something that is. So clearly a stage and just have people, you know, having these brief interactions that guy who plays your friend is very funny. Yeah. Scott grimes. He's fantastic. He's very funny out his great. It is it is a. The nice thing about that the end of the bridge of a spaceship, even even Star Trek, you know, adopted that from scifi that come before like, it's a trope. That's so familiar at this point that it almost you almost get away with it. Like, it's an office. Yeah. Because people just are just used to it. Right. It. Yeah. So that part of you don't have to worry about explaining right anyway. And you don't have to worry about explaining, you know, just weird aliens around, right? Regular jobs. Used to it. It's like it's not like, I'm not a Sifi guy. But you're obviously Star Trek guy. Yeah. I I was a fan. I'm not I'm not a huge guy. But I I love the twilight zone. I love I love the love Star Trek anything anything that. Was that humanized the John? Do you have like an opinion on the captain pike episode and whatnot? "Oh and kevin pie in then when they actually brought the series to series the replace them with william shatner for kirk but it was established kirk was not the first captain of enterprise because later on they had an episode with captain pike comes back and he's the the famous scarred head had on top of a box he's basically incapacitated te'o s in the regional series played by the pilot actor played by the same pilot actor miguel yes so when the star trek reba soft reboot happened with jj abrams film chris pike was the capital enterprise briefly the new flagship and then of course he gets captured by the romulus and then that's how kirk gets ascended to be captain but it's not the same story as the original series because the ritual series pike is established as the longtime captain of enterprise before seceding to kirk because of his injuries okay so do we know which one this is going to be a tv show pike not the series okay stops discovery is set in the original series time line not in the kelvin universe giada abrahams guideline though they've potentially ret conned a bunch of yeah as they are right to do who cares fans care all right few few quick hits we have an after successive ready player one which we talked about last week forty million dollars fifty three points ernie clients second book has now been up was already option but now is announced that they will be making that into a film are mata have either of you read this one i have not read i have not i read it and it's you know it's okay you didn't it.

"I found that when spielberg filmed the stacks he d saturated the color it was meant to look planned and mental look boring and the oac was so colorful and here he kind of splits the difference it's supposed to be real because real life honestly new york city looks better punched up in color and four k than it does when you get to new york so i think the same things going on here this is reality i was surprised about the birthmark the fact that she had something to make her conventionally unattractive was to be expected but she wasn't a three hundred pound guy named chuck she has large birthmark that covers is that she hides with her hair and his downplayed in many seeds i felt like the makeup at times was less prominent and a couple of scenes more prominent it's a fairy tale it's a fantasy doesn't completely work i mean what if it happened chuck i mean that would've been more bold to thinking in those terms makes me think i'm watching a movie that's going to challenge me this movie is like oh there's something slightly wrong there and they could've pushed this a lot further if they wanted to they didn't want to play so closely into a teen romance yeah i've seen people with real birthmarks that are large at usually they have like hair coming out of them i mean you could have taken the same birthmark and gone bigger with it and made him have a challenge to show that he doesn't care about it he does care about the person inside the honest truth is that is better for some people who can't be helped i think avatar did a better job of this there was a soldier that lost the ability of using his legs and he was able to run and move again in a new body that's properly demonstrating the appeal of an alternate vr world if i can go way back to the original star trek series remember captain pike stuck in that chair unable to move only flash once for.

"I mean i think that that has to do with it i mean he was definitely somebody who is a different man than he was before that that's what a the admiral said last week and yeah he's really got an ax to grind against these cling on to the bat left the grind even so as i possibly why he really likes burnham so much because she took action early started a war with the clingon so he thinks that's totally totally cool to try to get this on war going for fifteen years you did it and i like you now so i'm gonna put you on my bridge yeah why not yes i suppose mm you know and this sort of a more in a bigger picture thing too you know and i think you've talked a bit about this before but now though you know from last week to we know that spock as a person in this time line in some way well it's only ten years from now that spock is the first officer on the uss enterprise so where where is spock right now like where are these characters from the original series are only ten years away from being on the bridge of the of what becomes the most important the flagship of the of the of the fleet will forgive me for not being super up to date on the you resume of commander spock but i believe that based on you know he's role in the episode the cage he did serve under captain pike on the original enterprise he did o i would imagine that he's an officer on the enterprise at this point in time and italy in erez exists right now is that i enterprise was a fairly new ship when the news when they were restarted the i i believe they talked about it where they talked about it as a constitution class starship like the enterprise.

"The writing alone was just bad not too much rehash of oldstyle yes y'all but but i thought star trek beyond was just pure fun containment i had a great time and and if you're looking at it from that perspective i think the discovery will be fine and then the the first episodes i would say is a good primer i would say the third episode is like uh essentially late how the original series back in the day did the the episode the cage with captain pike and then i switched to captain kirk like for the next pilot so i would almost argued that the third episode is like the second pilot of the show okay because it's going to kinda changed tone from the first two episodes all right so i'm so given shunt into that so i've been i've been following this surely crazy since it's it's come out so of so what are some of your favorite characters in television or cinema oh man i mean favorite overall lighting favorite that i would want to play or other one bob we're going i i compare resolve elaborate river town in firefly is one of my favorites and i'm not crazy in weird but i ain't definitely can relate on some level to greeting people emotionally in getting a little ground by that at some points in a loved capping captain jamie growing up she was huge hero of mine there's many many pictures of me pretending to hurt drinking coffee or just holding a coffee mug are on house.
