Tweeted for this night. For me. Waited for who. This is a clip from Halloween. The the new one it's just out Jamie Lee Curtis is back. The original vote was made back in nineteen seventy eight and John carpenter the director made it for just three hundred thousand dollars, and it made way more than that in the US. It took in fifty million dollars. I would say Cardiff that is a scary profit terrified. And since this is the indicator I'm going to just that for inflation three hundred grand back, then a little more than a million dollars still super cheap. Yes. They'll not a bad return at all in. This is kind of a unique thing about horror movies. See the movie business is hard. It is hard to make money. Most movies don't accept when it comes to horror movies, this indicator. I'm cadaver cool SIA, and I am slayer vampires. God today on the show horror movies. Why the business model is less scary for more movies than it is for other kinds of movies? Support for this podcast and the following message. Come from new vein, a top-five global manager of commercial real estate investing in buildings that build investors portfolios because when you invest in a world, you're proud to leave behind it isn't business as usual, it's investing. By example. Support also comes from pay pal when it comes to growing your business. Pay pal is your payments partner. Sign up for free and open up your doors to over two hundred fifty million active account holders. Visit pay pal dot com slash growth to set up a business account now the horror movie paranormal activity had a return on investment of more than seven hundred and ten thousand percent. According to our rough calculations that is today's planet money indicator, and what it means is for every dollar that investors put into the movie, they got back more than seven thousand dollars that makes paranormal activity the movie with the highest return on investment of all time. Time. Blair witch project comes in at number two with the two hundred and thirty thousand percent return in the US or insane numbers. It's true. I mean, most movies don't come anywhere near this. The king's speech, huge hit had an eight hundred percent return on investment hunger games, nother huge hit four hundred and twenty percent return. That is going to numbers from the movie tracking site party casino and the horror report from Stephen follows. And when it comes to movies that have made the most money versus what they cost like seven of the top ten or horror movies of Dame's like Blair witch project. Friday, the thirteenth saw they cost very little to make and pulled in a ton of money yet even the recent Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis had a big splashy debut. It costs ten million dollars to make an after just a week in theaters. It's already made more than one hundred and twenty five million dollars in the US now compare that to the budget for the recent hit crazy rich, Asians, also considered kind of a low budget movie that was a huge hit it. Thirty million dollars to make three times how weans budget and it made about one hundred seventy three million dollars in the US. That's not that much more than Halloween has already made. So to figure out what it is about the horror genre that makes it so profitable. We called up, Nina, Gregory, our old friend. She's a senior editor at NPR's arts desk. I think there are a few different factors when you're talking about a movie making money, just like any product you make money by selling the product, and by keeping the cost down, according to Nina a lot of things that tend to make movies expensive kind of easy to avoid in a horror movie reason, number one location location location. And so when you limit things like one location say a haunted house, you're saving money yet. A lot of times horror movies are set either in one place or in just a few places like think of the shining psycho or the movie get out just not a ton of moving around. Not a ton of locations. It's easier to do this with hord than it is with like say an action movie now reason number two that who are movies can save money. Things that cost money when you're making a movie, many things cost money, but locations and actors talking costs. That seems reasonable when they do that. There is just not a ton of banter in a horror movie, you know, last nicking around quiet hallways. Exactly get you killed. I mean, anything about the killers themselves in Halloween. Michael Myers killer does not say anything Dido for Blair witch, and the lesson monster says the better, you don't wanna chatty monster Riley, Jason had like a kind of talkative personality way. I knew him. Dude. Shut up. Now. You're just annoying me. Right right, now, we're all cause us to be rooting for him and against the kids. Now, I'm rooting for the kids. I'm just kind of hope now the kids are falling asleep. And so anyways that absence of talking also helps keep costs down because you have to pay actors more when they have speaking part. So the fewer the speaking parts, the cheaper, the film reason. Number three, nothing to fear, but fear itself. I think one thing about horror films that make them scary. Good business is the business of scaring people to begin with because so much of fear lives in our brain that what's not seen is often more terrifying than what is seen. Oh, I love that is the nature of fear itself. Makes it conducive to low budget love how she just snuck. In the scary. Good business. Deadpan noticed we noticed theories cheap a lot of times movie scarier when you see less. Mike Myers a killer at Halloween. You don't see his face. He's just wearing a mask, by the way, not a very expensive mask. It turns out. Michael myers. Wore an inside out captain Kirk mask. John carpenter said that he bought it at a magic shop on Hollywood bowl. Captain Kirk this whole time, captain Kirk changes, everything not nearly as frightening at the most important part of his costume, though was knife. No, big dramatic explosions, a simple knife in most of the great horror movie villains have really kind of budget looks. That's true. I think the killer in screen Jason's hockey mask in get out the monsters are just people most frightening of all its. It's. You never actually get to see the Blair witch or the ghost in paranormal activity, in fact, a low budget look can actually make things scarier within the horror movie genre. The most profitable of those movies are the so called found footage movies like the Blair witch project and the paranormal activity movies, and that's kind of the final point about horror movies. Lots and lots of movies horror is more conducive than almost any other. John wrote two sequels often there's just not a plot that you have to move forward very much or like a character arc that you have to reckon with its ongoing. You just have to bring a monster back and bring in new people who also don't speak then get killed by the monster by the old monster who's back. So if a movie does hit you can just cash in for years, so you see these horror films like a paranormal activity come out and do so. Well, and then there they'll make twenty more of them. Yeah. I think I lost track of how many nightmare on elm streets. There were or nightmares dome straight. I don't know. There was one. About Freddie, haunting the set of the next sequel. Over. Our reality, Danny what is this to make another movie? There are nine nightmare on elm street movies, so far six paranormal activities Halloween. No takes the cake. This movie is the eleventh. There have been ten follow ups to the first Halloween movie. The director of the original movie John carpenter told NPR that he's actually on board with all of these halloween's. I love what Halloween is done for me. I love the movie it self and every time a sequel is made I get paid. So I can't dislike it, they don't like the movies. I liked the paycheck. The indicator is produced by scarring RAFI on and Corp, stanza guy Ardo, and it is edited by Patty hearse.

Cousins, Zeke/Dak, Bell on Steelers, KD excuses
Deserved starting job. All right. Well, what does make yourself? I'm Jason Whitlock that's Marcel is widely that do are coming up. I'll tell you why Cam Newton still has some growing up to do and I'll tell you why the door just opened for Colin Kaepernick to return to the NFL said. But we start today with a wit law which you got to David. All I got a heaping helping Thursday night football on big FOX, and I got Kirk cousins. The Vikings quarterback in a very big spot. Kirk cousins is the eighty four million dollar man. That's how much guaranteed money the Minnesota Vikings doled out for thirty year old quarterback who has started one playoff game for one playoff touchdown and has never won in the postseason. My nickname for cousins is captain shirk, give me a minute ox plane. What's worse is Kirk cousins, regular season success rate against teams above five hundred. This motley. Cruel of passers with a minimum of twenty career starts and their record against good teams. The only guys with winning percentage is lower than captain kirks four nineteen record our Blake Bortles Blaine gabbert, Matt Stafford, and Ryan Fitzpatrick you like that Marcellus Nassir. I don't like it either. That's why call Mr. cousins. Captain shirk. He's a franchise quarterback who's shirks the responsibility of carrying the franchise in big gains when it's winning time, cousins Alton fails to deliver the finishing blow this captain Kirk ANC, captain comeback. Kirk cousins is incapable of boldly going where no man has gone before tonight. It's going to be interesting to see if the Super Bowl. I kn- Vikings can recover from last week's nightmare against the Buffalo Bills. The undefeated high scoring Rams will be the opponent. The Rams we playing without their Pro Bowl Cornerbacks Akeem to leave and Marcus Peters. Both are out with injuries. There's no excuse for cousins to be off his game tonight. If this turns into a shootout cousins should be able to go dry for Dr and touchdown touchdown with Jared golfing, Todd, Gurley, but. Hi, I'm expecting cousins to figure out a way to lose this game. Call it. Bad luck, caller, bad karma, whatever. Kirk cousins doesn't win. Big games. He's really the anti captain Kirk, James teacart specialized in leadership that elevated everyone around him bones, spa Scotty, Lieutenant Hora checkoff captain Kirk, inspired them to incredible feats against the great empires of the galaxy, the klingons, the Romulus, the dominion. It's a who's who of evil empires that James t Kirk took down. Kirk cousins and signature. Conquest is a victory over a ten loss buccaneers team in two thousand fifteen seriously. You're like, that was a one point victory over a twenty one year old. James Winston, James t Kirk took out Conne captain Kirk took out the Gomer Pyle. Football, Marcellus. All the pressure tonight is on Kirk cousins. He needs to start justifying Minnesota's eighty four million dollar investment so far the Redskins don't miss him and he's done nothing for the Vikings all on Kirk cousins, man, Br, I don't. I don't. I don't have high expectations, bras, salute. I've been saying this since he was a free agent prospect. I was saying this when every team seem to be clamoring over Kirk cousins, the free agent I said, do you know who this guy is? This is a guy who took full advantage of timing is everything he had the leverage at the right time and the right situations. Let's be real about Kirk cuts. He can't live up to this contract because he never deserved this contract or million dollar cheat. So now we're looking at Kirk cousins as who he was as a free agent and GM's all Gus suckered. The rarity of seeing a fringe franchise quarterback in the open market made them think that he was a rare prospect, no, no, no, because quarterbacks don't hit the open market. And when one does doesn't mean that that guy is almighty. It means that maybe a team or two knows that guy is not worthy of making our franchise quarterback. Washington, so therefore he is out there in the free agent market. I told you before, how coach is always say Cindy limousine for the guys that we wanna see show up on Sundays in this case on a Thursday night, Cindy, limo coach also used to say not everybody's that sorry, and Kirk cousins, not that. Sorry. We're not sending a limo form, but he is the same g and coaches to say the same Oji means he's occasionally good. Occasionally Greek. That's who cousin is a guy who's just going to be slightly above average. I'm gonna give you another now z. I want the viewers to stick with me because at first you're going to be offended, but I'm clean it up. Oh, it's like you see some beautiful woman in her thirties, early thirties, late thirties, whatever you go down. I wonder how come she's not married, like look at across seeing a fifty year old, do it's always been gainfully employed very successful and you go, I wonder why Jason number I'm looking at. Problem. I'm not into. There's a problem. Deal with. And so there is a problem. Kirk cousins is on the market, say screen. There's a problem, the Washington Redskins dating for five years and never wanted to put a ring on it. That to me screams their problem and Minnesota is dealing with that problem this so far that I don't care what his numbers because he's throwing knives yards or whatever. He's not racking up yards per attempt, but he's doing for nine yards and his stats at the end of the year are gonna look pretty good, but he's not really in upgrade over case keenum and that was my issue. They could've got case keenum for seventeen eighteen million dollars a year. Instead they gave this guy eighty four million over three years, should've stuck with case keenum should've stuck with Sam Bradford and summer. That's tough to say. That's. That's teddy Bridgewater. All I'm saying is that congregation of quarterbacks they had would have been better? Yeah. On the surface in terms of security and Mike Zimmer went out there and said, hey, my job. Security is tied to this quarterback less is more like they would have lesser talents, but it would have been better and more for this franchise. Kirk cousins talking about the numbers. There's talking about the three consecutive years at twenty five plus touchdowns four thousand yards and empty calories in those numbers. Let's be real about it case in point. Buffalo game last week against the Buffalo Bills first half forty four yards. Second half finishes up with two hundred ninety six. You sit there and say, oh, if you're not observing every single throw. Okay, it's not all on Kirk because he's done that consistently drought, his career, been able to pad his stats and give you those empty calories. I have been waiting for Kirk cousins to deliver and trying to cause I've gone back and forth because I'll watch some games like, man, he got a hell of an arm got some presence in the pocket, but too often it would get to winning time and the touchdown, the dry that you need to finish the game isn't there. Now. I've seen it sometimes when his teammates had let him down. There was there was a Monday night game. I think whereas team may drop the game winning touchdown and ends on a dime on and I get it not all the time is Kirk cousins fall, but he's one of those guys that just has a cloud over him to some degree. He can only be so successful. He's just not a championship type quarterback and they're just guys like that that can put up numbers. But when it's the most important time when it comes time to elevating your teammates and making the defense of guys, if we just get the ball back to Kirk cousins, whoever does quarterback is they're going to take. He doesn't do that. No high risk high reward. And this is not a daring quarterback. He's great with the Czech downs. He's great with the short intermediate throws. He's even great in compact space in the red zone. This year. Few throws he's had what he's not great at is you got the ball at the twenty our line. This go eighty yards marched downfield oh, we have opportunities downfield this make those plays. He got taken care of in Washington because everyone wrote no running game and not enough weapons. You don't have that same case in point when you're Minnesota roster, they're all not playing up to optimal level. We get that. But still he has the weapons to take advantage of. He finds a away not to tonight the Rams without their Cornerbacks great opportunity for them to steal a victory as the stats are just the trends are against teams that traveled to time zones on Thursday night or Owen six. And so I'm expecting the Los Angeles Rams even without their Cornerbacks to take care of business and put it on the Vikings and Kirk cousins does not collect a victory against the team, five hundred or above. Again, I expect them to lose. Yeah, expect the losers. Well, the Rams offense to potent so guess what? Kirk cousins may find himself in a hole and we're talking about a quarterback who doesn't go down the field who doesn't play outside the system in terms of trying to make those big place. He's gonna find himself. The whole, and if he's still plays Rutter football, just gonna lose methodically, Rams. We'll get right back to the show, but I, I wanted to tell our listeners about hellofresh hellofresh a meal kid delivery service shops plans and delivers step by step recipes and premeasured ingredients. Do I'm Jason Whitlow time for some big stories, starting with a big one in Charlotte today, the Panthers signs, safety, Eric, Green to a one year deal. Read last played for the forty Niners where he was the first forty Niner to join Colin cabinet and kneeling during the anthem after the Niners didn't resign him. Read also joined cap in accusing the NFL owners of collusion when he also couldn't find a job soon after sign after the signing cabinet posted this on social media, congrats to my brother. All pro safety who should have been signed the first day of free agency who has they pro football contract. He was the first person to kneel alongside me, Eric is a social Justice warrior. Family in communities in me, Marcellus does this move help cavern IX chances of rejoining the NFL cabinet? Are that the all cumbersome, black voice. Let me ask first of all. Yes, absolutely. Yes. And I saw this coming to how long we've been working together. This third God, I wish it was three months because you wouldn't hurt me Savy's things, but give it to you now in package form. My five-step conspiracy theory that is actually following pl- go. All right. Number one was highest profile members into collusion case against the NFL Eric Reed, collared cabinet, correct? Right. So they fell sister and says, we don't wanna testify against ourselves. Do we are right? So what do we do? Step two occurs a partner of the NFL Nike who was going to drop one Colin Kaepernick decides instead of dropping this guy. This actually make them the face of it at campaign and that's going to come out and that's going to do a few things for us. One is going to make them more likeable. Say what you wanted has is going to make them more acceptable in terms of total population San, you know what? That's a good thing to get behind. Social 'cause whatever their calls maybe. But most important for the NFL's purpose made them bankable and Nike's profits. Nike's engagement, Nike stock has shown. He's now bankable. Now step three occurs. And I said this before which we worked together go, Marghera goes, comes out, says, there are two teams interested in one caller, capper, Nick, you guys just stay tuned. Stay tuned. I'm already watching all ready. Know where this is going step for Eric Reese is you don't wanna go big fish. I don't wanna go to big splash. I angry. Let's test the waters. This going accept this. And the last final step takes them with lock. You probably know what that is. Colin, Kaepernick will sign and that's the last of this evolution in terms of the NFL really protecting this collusion case and doesn't want to let the world know where the bodies are buried. Therefore, Colin Kaepernick we'll find an opportunity to fill once again, Joe remodel your tin, foil hat off now, and can. Spiracy through. I think all this is is all the years out of the protests. And so now it's like air green, come on, you won't come in and take a knee with care. No one's talking about no one cares. You wanna do your gesture. There's really not doing anything. No problem we moved on and we're playing football. Same goes for Colin cabinet, although I think it's a bit more difficult for capper Nick because when capper Nick shows angriness they signed him one year deal. He's probably gonna play this week and maybe even start. But eventually he made this return to being a backup and Carolina. He's not a big deal when capper Nick shows up on your team. Does a question about, should he be playing? Should he be playing head of your starting quiz where he lands? There's an EMMY. And so I think it becomes a bit more difficult, but I think the national anthem controversy is over and so you can bring cavern and he can wears afro. He can do is Neely and everybody on Twitter can applaud and. Make like, but the real world has moved on. Well, the real world moved on because the real world felt like it took a loss, whether that being the spokesman being our president or everyone else averse to this movement that thing about it is air is not out of it because they wanted to stop. It's because reluctantly, there's no more issue to have with this calls and his protests fewer guys are protesting. This just be real about, that's what I'm talking right. Fewer guys are protesting, but still does support greater than ever. And it's just like whatever you wanna say the other side is saying other science, we beating a dead horse. Now, this situation to us is over in the respect that we can't do anything else to change these guys mind in terms of their social calls and protests is just simple. So I don't want to seem like that said, oh, you know what we want therefore is over is like we can't win. So it's over now. That's the situation. I guess my idol. I don't think anybody one. I really don't think anybody one. I think it was a two kids fighting and they both ran out of energy and somewhat. Y'all need to stop this all the spray water break of quit cut that out, giant him throwing real punches anymore. Because again, when football kicks off on Sunday, everybody's talking about football and I think everybody again on both sides capper, Nick is a brand is being used by Nike is not about some social Justice. Nike's in the business of selling tennis shoes. Oh, yeah. And so to me cabinet raises and said, you know what? I'm in the business of helping Nike sell tennis shoes. All you guys helped me as well. But the question is, let me see this reset. Do you think he's going to be on the NFL rostered issue? I think there's a chance, but I think there's only really if San Francisco one signing and bring him to woke city and San Francisco. I think it works there. Eric Reid is not in woke city. He's irrelevant man. Nobody cares about the owner was not a relevant. The owner, David Tepper Republican by his affiliation and in political views, except on a congressional level. He says, votes democrat. So whatever that means, he's the newest to the good old boy club, the newest owner, and I think they looked at them and that ownership group and said, it'd be nice if the new guy can show us a vested interest in his group by doing stuff to force you. Is safety. Oh, this is the football. He's having need a quarterback safety in this Carolina made a business football decision. And then I don't think the owners politics at all plays into this because again, Eric Reid is harmless and the whole kneeling protest movement is now really harmless if he was so harmless. Hachem. It took them two week four against player. He's not a horrible player and he's better players on roster, something kept him for weeks behind in terms of being on because rod great player. He's not a difference maker win. There was this other safeties better than him that haven't signed as well. There's this Ryan can't get a job and I could argue Dez Bryant better player than air. And so this guy's look, man. I grew up with Jeff George for a long time to set all the league when he was far more talented than guys that were playing that happens all the time. George also had some other things issue. They wanna do. That's what I'm saying. Agreed. Asking things on the resume. People didn't want to deal with this being that thing right to some degree. But at the end of the day, the value in safeties the way the league is being fish is just not the same safety school back. This is a guy that played some linebacker last year. I believe for the forty Niners. I just the reason why he's getting on. And the reason why cabernet Megan side is because the gesture and the whole deal has lost all of its team in momentum. That's my view are today where the Cowboys or one and two and looking for the answers, it looks like is equal l. it has a couple of good ones when asked if the Cowboys could solve their problems on offense by running the ball more. Zeke's the question and ran with it. I mean, you can do all that, but the end of the day, like if you go back and watch the films, poor executional offers, you can't run the ball here. You're down by seventeen points. That's what it is we get behind. You're gonna have to go to ball. We're not gonna be able to, you know, do what we want. To do so what we have to do so we can be able to run the ball. Moore's is. Be better early in the game for better early the game. If we're not taking those three hours, if we're not in long distance, we can run the football. So if we execute early, then we can run the football. I'm ourselves. You think Zeke has lost any confidence in that process? Oh, absolutely. You know whether it's in his quiet corners with his few confidants or just not even trusting anyone. Just looking at that Preska he's, oh, man, deck struggling, and it's smart of Zeke to actually come out and play this with the Jedi mind trick that he's playing this with. This is amazing because I think his greater gain his greater goal is to outlast the fray. What do I mean by that year? One was amazing year, not only for Zeke, but for deck year to a lot of the blame of Dak struggles went to Zeke because in part he was a distraction was he gonna play this week was not gonna play. This go show retake suspension. You finally do six games left. We lose our playoff opportu. Tunes so loan you. So now he's starting to think I need to get my image back in terms of being a franchise player. How do I do that? Not pouring onto extra serve on a struggling Dak. I let the media do that leads. Jerry Jones. Do let Stephen, I let Dak do that, but I'm going to stay away from the fray at outlasted. So what you saw from Zeke right there was what politicians do all the time. Smart play elastic language, talk out of both sides of your mouth. You know why? Because that is going to sit there and hear that and say, he's talking about me, but he's not talking about me, and that's going to be enough pressure as a teammate to put on your starting quarterback, say, do better, and it same time protect his image as he has greater goals. I gotta agree with you. I think that anybody with two is can see the decks play has slipped, and so it would be impossible for anybody in that locker room not to have lost. Damn, you know, is going to be as great as he could. However, I do believe that Zeke is like me. We're cognizant of the fact that Dax play has slipped, but I still feel really confident that if given the right pieces and given the proper coaching and game plan, I think that Prescott is a quarterback you can win with at the highest level in the National Football League. I think that Zeke, if anything being political, he's not talking about, he's not taking shots at the coaching staff because to me what's blows my mind is Jerry seems more committed to Jason Garrett than them there. Anybody else in the franchise, any player anybody else in the franchise other than Jason gear. And at some point to me, if I was z. that any of these players, the pressure needs to be on Jason, Garrett and coaching staff. They had one of the most unimaginable ofensive scheme. In football, Jason gears been there forever and had more than enough time to have playoff success. It hasn't happened Jason gears one of the best Clapper's in the NFL and that's about it. Look, I'm not going to aim incorrectly at the priority here. Deprioritize here. Look, they've been through coaching changes before the coaches and seven eight you, but here's the thing what they need to do. And I think even Zeke is Luton to this is our quarterback play because week one Jerry Jones came out and criticized Jason gear. Remember I told you about that creativity and office. I just saw Cam Newton go out there that was shot at Jason Sagir not a deck. Next week deck actually goes out there and runs the ball more consistently deck is looking like in the last ten games. They show his numbers are irritably similar to Brock Osweiler. Brock Osweiler is who debt Prescott has been of late. And you said, if you give them the right weapons right support, right coach, that's how Kirk cousins got the. Minnesota people were saying that and we just went over that topic of maybe you need to assess who he is before you start saying surround him. Dak to me is department lists. He's the problem. I think comparing the Brock osweiler's on fair compared him to Kirk cousins, guy docs not getting paid eighty four million dollars. He's still on a rookie deal, six hundred thousand dollars. I think nine hundred thousand. He's playing like he really, really is I contend though if you look at what's been consistent in Dallas's failure, why they haven't had playoff success is Jason geared at some point. You gotta make a move that. I'm Jason with LA. That's Marcellus Wiley joins us now or FOX fellas. Fellas Rod Woodson and TJ who's been zodda in the previous two seasons Cam Newton, stats were reaching Brock Osweiler levels. This season. It's a whole different story. Cameras, putting up some of his best numbers ever completing more than sixty seven percent of his passes racking up eight total touchdowns and throwing only one pit that has led his head coach, Ron Rivera to say that is game has truly matured. I'm not sure if I'm buying. I'm not sure, and I love the way Cam Newton plan. I think he's playing the best football of his career, but maturity. I haven't seen it. There was a play in the bingles game at the towards the end. I think in the fourth quarter, Cam picks up his first down running and then picks up an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Taunting a defensive player took them out of field goal rains and chain and gave the bingles the ball back with a chance to tie the game. Cam still does silly things, but in the pocket and plan their quarterback position, he's lights out right now. Yeah, I'm with you. There is not about maturity. I think he picked the wrong word. What he tried to define maturity is as being he's giving himself to the team and he's only taking what the other teams are giving him. I get that, but all quarterbacks press when they feel like they don't have proper resources around them when running backs not playing well, and when the defense is not as good. So Cam Newton last year called himself, just pressing. That's not a issue because in three games that they played, they have been blown out that you haven't seen can with the towel over here way to get into a non contest, then you could see maturity. So I think he just missed boat. You look a Cam in, we're saying, maturity should eight years to league. Should you not mature as you get older but haven't? But go ahead. Because you went to Boston. But nor Turner is I think the main reason these mature and on the football field. Okay. Because when you have coaches who've been there done that and taking other quarterbacks in to another level of their play, that north is going to tell him things he should be doing that he needs to listen to now all the other outside antics, he does have to grow up those dangerous things. You wear the press conference. Hold him out. I got a question, but his play on the field. Yes, he is matured with that accurate. It's more so is what you said. Excuse me. North Turner gauge you define reads, it's going to be play action and we're gonna try to get chunks in passing game. And if the chunk passing yardage isn't there, we're going to check it down. His completion percentage is going to go. It's not. It's what you say. It's not. He has better coaching better. Coaching makes it seem like I've played better Ron Rivera gun smart, let me hire a coordinator that can really bring the best out of Cam Newton mass. What he's north turn is no run the ball run ball, Christian McCaffrey hundred eighty yards against Cincinnati. And now we're gonna play action. If that one read isn't there that define read, isn't there? We're going to check it down to the back. So we're going to play better because our completions are much easier. I don't think you're giving Cam enough credit. I've watched all three Cam games and he is playing a game between his years better than he has at any point in his career. He threw the ball twenty four times on Sunday. That's ancient in today's. But it's the throws that he's making the precision of the throws that he's been making cameras, not always been accurate guy camps footwork and things like that. Have all improved his mechanics I, this is what I've always believed. I was always very reluctant to give up on Cam. The dude is so talented and he is a competitive. This guy wants to be the best. That's why that penalty. 'cause he's a competitor. But I knew at some point he would figure out what you know, my talents just not good enough and this Li, I gotta do some of the other things in order to compete at the highest level. And that's what I think we're gonna look at it to Christian McCaffrey is a huge part of this and you talk about north Turner. Credit do about camera term between ears. I see that accuracy is at sixty seven percent when he wanted to be p fifty nine. So think about a guy is better than the MVP year he had. But Christian McCaffrey is really the difference maker in these games compared to last year. He has like three hundred more total yards into. I regained that he didn't last year last. They were trying to figure it out, where's the Stanford product? And he didn't show up that much. And now you starting to see that he has more round who came north Turner. That's it. I'm only saying this for one reason because great players in players who have a lot of ability sometime these here, something in a different way. I hear you like Norris talking. I hear you can, but maybe wanna try XYZ way it might make open it up a little bit better for you. And I think we're seeing that. I think he's he seeing the field in a different mindset than he had the previous years me ask you this, though, rot, I think if it were two years ago and no of Turner shows up, I don't think Cam, here's I think what Cam heard, the loudest were the results. He wasn't getting the past couple years and that made his ears open up to know of Turner and the coachee. And again, I'm taking nothing away from nor nor has done a great job, but he's Cam. The result have dictated that Cam has had to let other people in Christian McCaffrey. Y'all make some plays. I can't make them all, and it's made him work on the little things that he had no word. I thought pre. And his career. All right to the Steelers who remain in the midst of a contract dispute with running about bell who is still holding out from the team? Well, this dispute has now gone to the highest levels of government, at least the government in Pittsburgh with the mayor, jumping into the fray to share his thoughts about bells. Hold out. What do you think about Levy on bell situation? It's very unfortunate. He's getting very bad advice from his manager, and it's getting to the point of a certain tipping point when you can still come back in your teammates and the fans will want to have you back. So I think we're already at the tipping point. I think it's already tipped. I think the boat has sailed on lady. I'm bell playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers wants. His teammates came out in attacking and once James, CONNER started proving he could play a little bit. I just don't think you can bring lady on bell back into this locker room to credible to be attached to your argument to that mayor. Giving. I think we tip before about managers, my money, my agent is talking about stay away. Here's the thing. This is just negotiation. Talk always happens and there's always crossfire. So when lady on those, I have two week ten before I have to make a decision, would you do turn to light up on them? You turn the fire up on them. If you're Pittsburgh, we're thinking about trading, you turn the fire up on them. You know what? I don't even know if he's accepted back in his lock, turn the fire up on them just to try to create a cyst of urgency. So he could show up and week four week five, anything before we came with trust me, if he showed up to day, they're going to try and figure out a way to get him on that field. This Sunday, just Nicole. That's without a doubt bail. Everytime he's suited up with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has done some really good things behind that often align. And you talk about week ten. He has to be there that Tuesday after week, ten season to get credits season. He's going to show up if he does wait to week ten, he's going to show up going into week, eleven. He's going to show up. And when he does show up to players going to accept him because especially if he wants to play, if he's gonna play now has a mysterious injury. They're not going to accept that win. They're gonna have some backlash, but if he comes in, he's ready to play, they're gonna accept and say, you know, what? Can you help us win? Can you help us win north and get to the playoffs though, accept him if they're not having a great season at that point, if they're playing well, he's not going to be accepted at all because they've drawn a line in the sand who is the Lyman deadline. Once they come out with say, that's good kid get Begnaud kicking beyond. There's no way I'm walking into that locker room in San what's up the pouncey to foster. There's no way. No, it's taught whole out his money. Yourselves way this unwritten rule. You don't talk about the other man's. They're playing bad. They going accept them because they need them. James Connors doing okay. He had one more out of that because they know more looks like in that position, right? But lady on is gonna come in if they come up and bow down so to speak. Now we TJ when you play, if you were holding. Now, as somebody may divide talking about TJ TJ came back, which he would this money. He can pull them to the side. Never again and say, do that. We're cool and they're going to do that. But trust me, he's coming back there having that conversation and you think they're going to trade in Bill for if they're playing well, do you think they're going to say, oh, my bad come on. We don't need you now if they're playing bad, no bow down, saying win team that didn't win the Super Bowl. They know it can look great right now, but the place whole different animal, you need Levy. Connors played will game. He go back to the last thirty yards on the last drive against Tampa Bay before that he had like thirteen yard. He's he's played. Okay. All right. And we all got excited with a couple of runs in one game. He had a really nice game. Let me I'm Bill is different. There's a difference between when you see greatness and you see common like would you see every single day, right? The norm is let me I'm Bill different maker are in a bind broke into buying, but you know, he's going to. He's going gonna come back when he comes back when he does come back. I think he's going to play. I think he's a competitor. He's to come back and he's gonna help the black and go rhino games they can, you know, better than I do about lady, I'm. But from the outside, I just think lady are mentally is different than a lot of guys in the locker room. I think there's no act to this studio gangsters. Then there's some real ones, and I just don't think he's a studio. And so I don't think so when when TJ makes the point of like when he comes into the locker role, he's going to look at Markey's and he'll care how big is is going to be talking about my money and my family and what you know in his mind, we start on my money, you talking about my family and all this. You don't cross the line with him that I just don't think he's just gonna let go like some other, even if he what if he has already like if we don't know that about that life, that phone was ringing, Susie saw that on on the TV. I'm sure it was okay. And so that mean and they knew up front who he was and they still talked about money. I don't think he s or not the same as media outcry that that was a front office coasting because look what happened? Antonio Brown, Mike Tomlin nip that in the bud, nobody else. Oh, he didn't come to practice on Monday. He didn't. They didn't talk about that point that was over real quick. But the lady on thing went on for four or five days that came from time to turn. Tom, I'll tell you what to think about it. How when have you haven't had riffs in a locker room from twin players. Fifty three men in the locker room. It doesn't get out to the public like this. I mean, that's got out to the public, but when I get back into the locker room, it's going to be squashed inside the locker room. I mean, it's going to be squashed that quick now and it shouldn't. It shouldn't like flow over to the field because today trying to win for blah rod. Again, you played in the league and myself played. There was money to be made. But man, we this fourteen fifteen million a year and is asking for nineteen seventeen eighteen million a year. I just think there's a different level of animus when you talk about fourteen fifteen, sixteen seventeen eighteen million dollars a year as opposed to your heyday. When you may have been talking about a million million and a half or whatever. I just think the stakes are higher and these guys live a lifestyle and social media. That amp sup the animus. I just don't think this is the normal contract situation with the normal lay. He's that dude. I'm Jason Whitlock. Let's talk some who's some drama NBA you would think that winning back to back championships and finals MVP's would be enough to satisfy even the biggest div athlete not Kevin Durant. Apparently, he's he's pissed because he's never won the award for defensive player of the year in a radio interview. Yesterday, Katie sounded all on why doesn't win as many awards as he should or thinks he should. You know, they're not gonna give me anything, even if is on a fence. I have to be clear cut better than everybody for medium and get a look. So that is, I mean, it's just pure hate for me obviously in no not appreciation probation for my real skill for the game, but I get it understand where we coming from understand what we have here in this building scares everybody, accolades, stuff. I kind of that stuff is kind of long gone for me unless it's like. Finals or something like that where it's probably pretty even. But you know, regular season awards. I mean, I'm never gonna look when it comes to especially player here for the words. I'm I'm going to try to do this without being critical Kevin Durant. 'cause I don't think there's really anything to criticize Durant, four, but he's wrong. I think he's like everybody else in American society that's either in the media or is some type of celebrity or high profile athlete. His mind has been captured by social media, and so social media has convinced Kevin Durant that everybody hates and Cowher talked at the end of his show today about a poll he put up on his Twitter feed, and Cowher was saying that sixty seven percent of people say they don't like Kevin Durant, and that is true on Twitter in the real world people like and respect and enjoy Kevin Durant. And if he could move into the real world and see how he's really. You'd. He wouldn't feel this way. I disagree in this respect a look. You're right. I, it certainly is a voice. You have to respect or your bombarded with social media, the Lao minority, which it is like if you look at all the statistics, fewer people are on social media, then popular world, but it still you could go on your time line and think that's the entire world view. I get that part. However, there's a difference between being respected what you say, take yourself away from social media. You're highly respected your second best player in the world and likeability. And I think Kevin Durant is correct in saying he's not likeable. Impart these gre-. He's likable. You know why? Because he is the one that is keeping at one hundred like legit of the top five players. Let's go. If you wanna say LeBron won the bronze, not keeping a one hundred in part because LeBron has so many things going on. So many lanes that is is he is he doesn't say everything he takes. Hi road. Kevin Durant would take whatever road it takes to get to the issue. And that's why he's not likeable and part. And also because his movie only eight myself because here's what I think the overwhelming majority of fans when they think of Kevin Durant and whether or not they liking take it off the basketball court, here's what they think of Kevin Durant. You'd ruling be. They think of a guy who loves an adores, his mother and they love and adore him because of his connection to his mother. That's the overwhelming MS his overshadow by you went where you're a coward your week. Not to me. I'm just saying what I think when I'm around people when I'm at a sports bar and I'm having that reluctant conversation with the drunk guy who's telling me all his and I'm like, you really don't like Kevin Durant because he went through missed up the NBA. And if you're such a competitor, don't you go somewhere and make it a more verse road and making more difficult likability true to that, like ability comes into all voting look. The only thing I've ever got the vote on was the Pro Bowl selections every single year as a player. So we used to sit in that room and it used to be amazing to me, especially when we had the vote on the linemen or a fullback, some of the more anonymous positions. So you would say, obvious names, Johnson, Ogden, Orlando, pace, everybody, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you said Kevin Maguire center, somebody say. He ain't played this year. Yeah, like all right or give me another name so. So next to, you know, it turns into popularity contests likability. Oh, so good. And I like him. Teo suffer through this. He was. He was a third ballot hall of Maria's life of not likeable. Kevin Durant, not likeable, like abilities apart. It's a percentage. Why. Today we're talking Kirk cousins or as to call them captain shirk the Vikings back. The brings Trump up for him in hopes of pairing him with their dominant defense. But so far they've gotten mixed result. Overall, my rating for cousins is actually up one point to a fifty six. He's a role player Marcellus. Yeah, I just don't think he's at all time. Great. By any stretch. I moved him up three points there. Onto a four because of the contract. Overall, he's fifty six. I'm astonished at your rating. 'cause we, please hear you put about all talk status afford forgettable you gotta remind your family even played in the field. He's hired a deck, no good rankings right here. Job performance is down because no one page eighty four million go one one in one and Paget, stats and second half of games when you're already losing those games. All great status. Let's be real. I give them a fourteen in stays the same fifteen to me means your average quarterback. You never manned. You never command top dollars because you're just average. No one ever expect anything of you and you gave them exactly what they expected. Not much. He's a lit- myself or cell all time. Great. First of all, you got to put yourself in the conversation to even even consider him an all time. Great. And once you start in that fourteen fifteen rains, that's what you're talking about. The guy's never accomplish anything. He hasn't won a playoff game. What did he do in college? Want to get all that. Okay. Okay. He's cap Mitchell upsetting. He's got Mitch saying he's a little bit. He's Scott many half of Tom Brady plus a little. No, no. Okay. He's half who's else's all. He's happy. Okay, but he's hired Scott, got overpaid. I deserve. I think you gave him Scott midst with all time, greater fool. You got him at a seventy five at all-star. Next week.
