Well you gotta try to build them up as much as we can. Here's a new worlds busiest airport. And then he he writes and says sorry jeff here no longer number one more weren't weren't more science. Well you know jeff your number one in my book. I'm sorry that i'm not your number one anymore. Oh he's talking about the airport. I and really honestly. I don't care but let's continue with this nice news article after more than two decades. There's a new worlds busiest airport and it is one. In china the gaungzhou guangzhou. I would say grind zhao guangzhou. Okay i i'm not i haven't been told but that's why i think we're all deferring to liz. How two different Pronunciation than mine and yours was different from both of ours and we're going to have to lean it's lean apparently when no that was another show. You're getting taste. Yeah well you know we never you know. Fifty percent of the time. We get the pronunciation right in. I think that we're going to have to defer to nick on this one. Guang guang shall guangchao. Is that what you said. Nick a guangzhou going there. We go was the world's busiest airport back in twenty twenty two the year of covid according to preliminary figures from airports council international Let's see seven of the world's top. Ten busiest airports in two thousand twenty were in china while seven of the ten while. Delta plane skids off taxiway at Pittsburgh International Airport
"A delta plane skins off the taxiway at pittsburgh international airport. No injuries reported. This is from the pittsburgh post gazette and for all of you out there. yes. I do fly An airplane very similar to this. One a boeing seven. One seven four A sister airline. And but there. I got a lot of Messages from people. You know kind of worried that could have been me inside this jet but it wasn't wrong airline this delta An airplane carrying nearly eighty passengers and crew slid off the taxiway at pittsburgh international airport on wednesday evening air last week. Airport officials said that. A delta airlines plane a boeing seven flight. Two to three one was departed for atlanta with seventy seven people on board when it quote exited a taxiway just prior to take off near a runway at about six thirty pm. And there's a picture in here of it kind of the nose wheel hanging over the edge of the tax away Officials said that no injuries were reported in the buses were dispatched to help. Passengers exit the plane the passengers were then shuttled to the airside terminal. Delta airlines released the following statement while on. Oh you want me to show that picture. You're saying oh i thought when you alluded to it you're gonna show it but that's okay. No i don't feel like all right okay. Pardon the interruption. When we're recording the show live. The only person who can hear me is captain jeff. Now he's decided to include my audio here in the post. Show edit lucky. You enjoy okay here. Share share screen and here we go and then boom except for do that okay. I'm just gonna leave it like that. Can you guys that no this. They see their got it. Okay for wonder. yeah actually. That picture isn't as bad as some of these others. This one makes it look a little worse and Here's the the back end of the jet details clan thing out the bank. Well rather not say. I don't go seven one. Seven five data a non inflated slide. That comes out of the telecom now. I don't know if you know. This is one of those pictures. Aftermath pictures after the passengers have already left the airplane I did see some pictures. What they had some stairs kind of butted up to get it taken by accident and Up to the back end here and sorry and passengers i keep. I'm really not doing that. The the rear portion of the is the anal portion of the jet They left via the stairs now. I don't know if they if the slide was inflated You know or if it wasn't played in the deflated. Or what. But i've got two things the first one i wonder i wonder if the The the slide The telecomms light there would be effective given the deck angle at the airplanes. Yeah that's that's a good question right. Because i don't think it would be. Maybe it would. I'm not sure what angle it you know. It has to have to be effective dangle dangling banks on the show title about liz you got that angle angle okay and then the other one is I know from from my previous airline. And mike kerner line in the You kind of have to be familiar with with the flight attendant manuals and all that stuff when you carry passengers durant. I know that it's in their manual. That if they well if they find the airplane or in in their in their estimation in a unusual position in the ground or after he rejected takeoff. And they don't hear from the crew in fifteen seconds they're supposed to automatically Beginning evacuation themselves. Because the the the cockpit crew flightdeck crew might be incapacitated and unable to command that evacuation. Yeah so it's you know it's it's it's the manuals as well so Maybe but i mean again again. We don't we don't know an app communication's very important Bring up a great point. And that's why immediately after this happened and you know we're we're just gonna have to like say we're not sure what happened because there's no official officially released Reason that The jet didn't make that final turn. I'm just on this tax away a couple of days before this and On a s airplane and it was in similar conditions as well and let me tell you what you know when the when they do all the snow removal and stuff on the usually do a really good job of of the runway snow removal. And making sure the frictions good and that kind of thing but once you get off on the taxiways and the ramps you gotta be really careful. Because they're usually very very slippery. So i mean i'm very deliberate now. I think we've talked about this. Before that i tend to like to taxi on the higher end of the speed scale But in these listen yeah you But in these conditions. I'm very very slow and deliberate because yeah you know. I'm just not sure what you're going to get and you don't want to end up. I'm not saying this is what happened here but it kind of looks like maybe they were going a little bit too fast for the conditions and tried to make that left. Turn the runways right there. You can see it behind it so it's just like a little bit of a ninety degree turn from the direction this airplanes facing right now and it looks like it just you know. It could have been a mechanical issue as well so i don't know

"I think a lot of people avoid him, and it's a really great time to find fish concentrated, especially Saltwater right now, but trapped. This shit is just on fire. And when you get these radical low tides, it concentrates the fish into Lose channels and hold Know where those are hard to find. Its place is your boat will still float. Right? Well, when the water temp isn't isn't crazy cool yet? You know, those fish could be in a lot more places. But you know, like you said, you could still you know any depression, You know that Maybe it might be a 3. Ft trough at low tide. It could still be holding some really nice trout. I know. Captive bred. Norris said that all the edges the deeper edges that he fished yesterday produced lots of speckled trout. The speckled trump. I was really, really good on that's good to see. It's good to hear, and it's something you know another fish along with gag grouper for me, that should be a big focus this copy here. Yeah, you know, and our good friend Captain Jeff Hagman. Put on a show with me years ago in the Harping T Jackass ski area. Is a smelly herb eight. Possibly, um, and sew it on on the sand and leave it on the sand And don't Don't dig it. Jerk it through. The water column like you normally might would. Fold into the sand pockets and let his the bottom and just move it slowly in these fish we talked about last night. These big gator trout will pick up that bait right off of the sand. No. Well, Lourdes water temps. They know, Winter times common. They could feel it the length of the day. They know how much daylight they're having, and they get hungry and they want to. They want to stock up on to some belly fat. Get ready for the winner. So again, speckled trout gag grouper, snook bite all those things, but really, really good here. On should remain good. As long as you know this water time doesn't get too much cooler than it is so exciting times we get the wind to stop blowing things would be even better. It doesn't seem to be that Wendy. I'm standing out here in beautiful lutes. And it's cloudy. I know we're coming on a full moon. I'm not gonna win the moon is in the next week it this morning. It's coming out of CNN were help. We were hoping for some colder weather, and, uh, there's there's plenty of deer hunting left through January and we've got some trips planned. You and I Yes, we do. This was all the insane people that came out to be honest but it was just a life and to finally be able to have Captain Jeff as my pilot was Oh yes and this is the first time I ever flew I. I close to drinks. Yeah well let's not talk about that. Here's bottle of water and yet yeah exactly exactly know if you heard what Jeff said he said. Here's your bottle of water and cheese. It's shut up slave. But that's that's a joke. That's an in joke for another podcast. Listen to which is the no agenda podcast but anyway it was. It was a wonderful experience. I'm so glad to be here now with thin to meet Julie for the first time and Mike and into into me Tim for the first time and to be here with with Jeff and we really wish that all of you could be here with us right now so Jeff told you the story this dispatcher. Mike so jeff told you the story of how this happened for him. Well this has been a thought that has gone between Dr Staff night for about three or four weeks about what our Memorial Day plans. Were and what we were going to do. And even I was talking with Dana about it for about three or four weeks setting this whole thing up and you know it's it was truly so today was also my last flat on a mad dog and I've been working in dispatching in dealing with the D. C. nine's entire aviation career Once I got to a major airline between the D. C. Nine thirties the forties fifties announced eighty eight hundred ninety s OSCE seven. Seven's are still around but those are just you know. They're not the same. They're they're their new but really so I did a last flight in the cabin and I had absolute great pleasure of doing the last flight in the in the flight deck with captain at the helm just watching the way that he handles the aircraft in the command he has of the aircraft in how smooth he is if the airplane really really the eighteen days in two hours of experience that he has on the aircraft. Oh that's eighteen years. Twelve thousand four hundred hours pretty much on the aircraft It was really truly fun. It was great surprising him. I had nuggets of surprise pretty much throughout the day. I think the biggest one was when we were taxing out and jump seat in Philadelphia. Ground Goes is Captain Jeff on board and Jeff. Jeff looks like yeah and he goes. He goes right down a phone number but he goes. Well you have some friends on social media and apparently we know that this is your last flight is an MD captain and after eighteen years. Twelve thousand plus hours would like to congratulate you on that and good luck in your near Next aircraft future and I swear to God Jeff's jaw hit the yolk. It was just. It was just crazy he goes. I wonder who did that? And like you're welcome. Explain to them how how was able to get that out. But it was a lot of fun enjoyment and setting this up and having a having a meet up again is is really nice and really really good. So I'M GONNA I'M GONNA pass on over to Dana who? Unfortunately I would just like to say we didn't get to celebrate your last eight flight the same way and managed. It's a kick in the nuts and I'm sorry no no I'm grabbing my. We didn't know and Dana. Dana didn't know when his last flight was going to be and sadly it looks like he already had it And I just wanted to quickly comment before. Dana talks about Mikes Surprised Nuggets and I just have to say that Mike Nuggets.

"Some of the more scary situations you've been in cross savell. Wait a minute. You've just congress to your your fear flying here. You're in this pavlovian meditation state when you listen to captain jeff's fs boys and now you want us to tell you are scary situations. She says if you don't want to that's all right yeah. There's there's no scary situations lying side note. I am not very into the show. I listened to about one day so i i don't know if you've covered it but the united airlines flight to thirty two crash in nineteen eighty nine would make an amazing plane till tomorrow. July nineteenth is the thirty year anniversary and the story is both miraculous and tragic <hes> the courage and bravery of the pilots. This is this miraculously. I'm pretty sure fourth was on yeah was found on the cockpit floor and survived. This has gotten very long winded all sign off now. Clear skies and tailwinds still not doc quite sure what that means is bill. We aren't either yes so we can direct you back to or forgotten which episode number it was that we just that nick just did. I'm sorry what did you do thirty to thirty two for some reason why why have a city <hes> decent crash and it is an extremely well known <hes> incident and i try to avoid the ones that are <hes> really well known because i'm not going to bring into the new really usually to the story they've been told many times by many people so <hes> for that very reason i have have avoided that one and probably will continue to do so if you know something slightly less well-known equally interesting then i would love have to hurry because what i wanna do is surprise people with the <hes> plain tales and they go. I hadn't had that s brilliant the way on that kind of amo matt yeah well. You know what i think that because we've helped you so much isabel with conquering your fear that we're not going to add to it by telling you scary things so i'm not gonna tell you about landing in a typhoon in shanghai. No now probably not or you know stem storms in chicago. Lightning strikes hitting severe wind shears on short final. Go remind my wife yet all my wife causing engine failure now. That might be a plane tail. I think it was a very quick story. I was bringing back from being somewhere <hes> and l._a. <hes> <hes> i'm we've been on a trip together and <hes> she had been sleeping all night. I've been sleeping through the long transit across the atlantic and it was breakfast time we're just coming up <hes> to the end of that antics crossing and these days when the flight door was generally open all the time and <hes> she had woke myself up and just walked into the flight date to say good morning to us from her beautiful upper class seat and as she walked on the flight deck <hes> one of the engines failed and now through it was just a remarkable for instance she watches. I terrorize it l._a. Dialing los back in the instrument panel on pointed it and said that the number twos winding down she's banned from the life followed by lots of bells danielson wouldn't burps and all sorts of interesting noises and i said i'll be with you in a moment when she walks into the room the engines file interesting all right i think since we're talking talking about plain tales that this might be a good time for us to hear this week's installment you good you lines. Yes irrecoverably cowboy all pilots playing. I'm a dead uh captain. Lula labonte was nice strange at hijackings. This was the the first had been scene four years earlier in nineteen ninety two when it was flying a boeing seven twenty seven.

"This is captain Jeff to captain, Nick come in. At least come in. Just hey. What are you doing in the world is going on here? Sorry, I was just trying like student aviator with headset on. Wait a minute. Is that radio has does that say? Wow. Wow. Where'd you get that? While it it's to guy with my new my new hobby HF radio radio Machado. It's it's a really nice high quality or the headset microphone. But anyway, I was just saying if it worked with the gear here does doesn't make you still retiring. By a lot of gadgets that. This is my retirement present to myself love it love it. Wow. We'll talk later about that. All right. Excellent. So let's start with the first item in the news, which is just a big hot mess. We talked about this hat and this event occurred on the fifteenth of may and twenty seventeen and the next show that we did or the show that we recorded right after this happened. We talked about this, and we kind of surmised, and I went back and listen to it actually because there was a discussion about it on Twitter. The we were kind of coming up with what are speculating what had happened here? And guess what? I think we pretty much nailed it. And then I think the NTSB we're listening to the show, and they use pretty much everything that we said on our recording in this final report. Now, I'm just getting didn't. I have noticed that a lot of agencies now just coping everything. Exactly. We're just kidding. Of course. Anyway, this was a Learjet thirty five eight November four five to delta alpha depart controlled flight while on a circling approach to runway one at teeter borough airport, t Tango, echo Bravo. In New Jersey. Just north of Newark international. They impacted a commercial building and parking lot the pilot in command and the second in command died, no one on the ground was injured. The plane was destroyed by impact forces and post crash fire. And there's a really good. We're going to have all this in the show notes for you to look at. But there's a really good video that was produced by the NTSB that does a really great job of summarizing the flight also some communications air traffic control communications between the mostly I guess all the captain who was. The pilot monitoring apparently and the air traffic controllers, one of the things one of many many things that the NTSB cited, and as causes or contributing causes to this thing was the fact that the second in command the co-pilot was not supposed to be flying..

That's captain Jeff Butler with the Cincinnati police department where injured were taken to University Medical Center shortly after the shooting occurred Cincinnati inquirer reporting witness to the shooting said there were at least three people injured man by the name of Leonard Cain was going back inside the Bank when someone had alerted him of the shooting. He said a woman was also walking into the Bank and people tried to get her attention. But she had headphones on she walked in the door, and the shooter opened fire, and apparently shot her Cain said he heard up to fifteen shots fired. We've also heard from another witness or something like eight shots fired. Other witnesses said they saw at least two people on stretchers being loaded into ambulances on fifth street in front of graders. Which is right there in that complex at the fifth third center in downtown. Cincinnati fountain square. Another gentleman by the name of Zach Fritz hand who works on the second floor of the Westin hotel, which is right across the street said people he saw on stretchers were not moving. There was definitely a lot of blood involved is what he said. So that's according to reports from the Cincinnati inquirer.
