"Know. I mean, it could be cool. If this is a thing, but I don't know about the setting. I'd buy it. And because there is, of course, if you didn't know there was a marvel knights run, Captain America Black Panther flags of our fathers. Which was a, hey, let's throw this back and do stuff over there. And I'm on GameSpot dot com and eurogamer has since confirmed this report, by the way, saying they've heard this as well, but I'll get to that in a second. Darren over on GameSpot had written. This won't be the first time that both marvel heroes have joined forces if the report is true. As Captain America and Black Panther were the stars of flags of our fathers, miniseries in 2010. That comic book series detailed the first meeting between the marvel icons as they joined Nick Fury to fight and his troops to fight Nazi forces. And so I hear you, World War II, done to death. However, I would count, I would argue that first person shooter Medal of Honor Call of Duty battlefield World War II. Captain America hit Nazis and hydrophilic in the face of the shield, that's fucking go. Yeah. And here we go. I remember, I think I reviewed this game for IGN, didn't I? This Captain America based on the movie, I was not up there not gonna hide your people out left and right. And now you're gonna give me a Black Panther in there, let's go. I think I was an infant when you reviewed this, but anyways, yeah, I mean, this could be really cool, like a new World War II take. God damn it. I think I think you'd be cool. It could be cool, but like, I don't know, it would have to be done well, but I mean, I trust that the game came out in 2011. 2011, Stella. Okay, just graduated high school. I was I was a sophomore in high school. Hey, let's go. Go into junior, you open this up once. You have been invited to my house party. Let's go. What you wanted, and the bullying continues. Yeah, you thought it was over? Oh, no, it's just starting. You gave me a platform. I'm gonna use it. Eurogamer

The Hidden Religion Behind Hollywood Heroes Like Iron Man

"Cinematic point of view and a spectator and audience point of view, if you extrapolate secular humanism, it's the most boring movie ever. Exactly. That's why I'm saying Charlie. I don't think the writers of Iron Man had Christianity in mind, but they knew that they're living in God's world, whether they believe in him or not, and they know that secular humanism, they know that following your heart, they know that being selfish is never going to motivate an audience or inspire an audience. What will inspire an audience is what Jesus did for us. And that is laying his life down for his friends. Actually, lane is life down for his enemies. Love knows greater. There's no greater love than to lay down your life for your Friends. Well, Jesus laid down his life for his enemies. That's us. And so Iron Man is interesting because it is kind of this idea, and it could be a Christ story, but it feels more like Paul. Right? I think Iron Man is more like us than say Captain America. Captain America doesn't need moral development. We need. Well, Captain America does, he's always righteous. He doesn't do anything wrong. Is that right? Yeah, you never have to worry about, you know, he's Captain America going to do the right thing. He's always going to do the right thing because he's Captain America. He's like Jesus. Tony Stark, on the other hand, is more like you and me. Tony Stark has issues, right? Tony Stark needs sanctification and he goes on this character development arc over several movies to where from where he is a selfish Playboy amoral arms dealer who is just in it for himself. Pure helium, right? Totally. To the point where he's going to say he has to save his strip club in his private jet. That's right. That's right. I

Author Frank Turek Returns to Discuss New Book 'Hollywood Heroes'

"Everybody, welcome to this episode of the Charlie Kirk show back by popular demand is a great patriot and incredibly gifted communicator and someone who I'm honored to call a friend, Frank turret, Frank, welcome back. Charlie always great being with you brother. But we're here today to talk about your new book and really go into depth into what you put here with your son Zach called Hollywood heroes. Tell us about your book. Well, first of all, let's start out by saying that Hollywood puts out a lot of garbage, right? But notice Charlie that when they put out a blockbuster, maybe haven't noticed, maybe the people out there have are having. When they put out a blockbuster, it's actually to a large extent stolen from the greatest story ever told. That when you look at the fantasy and superhero movies out there, Captain America, Iron Man, Lord of the Rings, Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Star Wars, these kind of movies, Charlie. They all have elements of the Christian story in them. And that's why they resonate. They resonate because these people are living in God's world, whether they're Christians or not, and what resonates is sacrifice. That's what resonates. And so these movies, my son is just an amazing movie buff. He's also in the air force, by the way. We went through these movies and we pulled out how so many of them paralleled the Christian story and how you can learn biblical life lessons and you can learn really the story of reality, which is the Christian story by watching these superhero and fantasy movies.

How Your Favorite Movies Reveal God With Frank Turek

"Folks, I'm excited. I get to talk to a friend of mine, Frank turret. He has written a book with his son, evidently, Frank Turk has written a book with Zach turret. It's called Hollywood heroes, brand new book, Hollywood heroes, how your favorite movies reveal God Frank Turk. Welcome to the program and how does young Frankenstein reveal God? It's always great being with you, Eric. What a question. I always want to start out with a real jerk question. This is a Frankenstein book because it's my son and I together doing it, and he's actually now 34 years old in the air force. And already seminary grad, and he's a movie buff. So he said, dad, we got to do a book on movies, how they all point to the ultimate hero Jesus. They said, we're on. Let's do it. Well, a good movie, you know, has to conform to the laws of reality and to the laws of narrative and whatever. And there's no way you escape pointing to God since he's the author of reality. But most people don't know that, which is why you wrote a book about it called Hollywood heroes. Exactly. And we go through the big superhero movies, Eric, we're going through Captain America, Iron Man, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Batman, Star Wars Wonder Woman, and they all point to the ultimate hero Jesus. Superman's in there as well, by

"Well, Paul the other guy I want to ask you about is head coach Gregg berhalter. I think it's fair to say that he had his fair share of doubters when he got this job a little over three years ago. And I think a lot of that criticism has followed him ever since. What have you made of his performance during this World Cup qualifying campaign? I think it's difficult to say that Greg berhalter has done a bad job with this U.S. team. For example, if you look at the choice he made in the summer to split the national team in two. To play the quote unquote a team in the nation's league and the B team in the gold cup. Mexico didn't do that. They brought their a team to both tournaments. And what happened? Well, the U.S. won both the nation's league and the gold cup beating Mexico in both finals. Even then, people were saying, Mexico made the better choice. And they're going to be in better shape going into World Cup qualifying. Well, look at where the Mexico team is now. They're in this similar position to the U.S., but the emotion around that team is completely different. Content martino might not coach this team at the World Cup. That's how disappointed the Mexican fans are. Conversely, let's take a look at Panama again. And let's talk about the players who weren't on the field for that 5 one win. Weston McKinney was out with a broken foot to junior death was out with the hamstring Brendan aaronson was out with a knee injury. So you're reaching deep, deep, deep into the deaf chart here to pull players out that not just to play in the game, but to play in a must win game on a big stage. That trust existed because Greg berhalter split those squads in the summer so that he could see every player from the pool and give them opportunities. He's not been afraid to trust young players. This is the youngest national team in the world in the qualification cycle. He put those players on the field, understanding that things aren't going to be perfect, that growth is not linear, that there were going to be down moments. And yet he understands that those down moments are important for this group to learn and to grow, not just for this cycle, and this World Cup, but for 2026, when the U.S. hosts the World Cup. So I look at it and I believe he's done a really good job of getting the results in the short term, provided they don't lose 6 nothing to Costa Rica, they're going to the World Cup. So that's the first and most important goal. And the second thing is to create an environment where this team has grown together and where he's created a real core of this team. So in my opinion, the criticisms of Greg burter have been unfounded. And that's not something that could have been proved a few weeks ago or a few months ago, but now over the course of qualification and the role that these players have played that have seen so much of the criticism Paul areola scored the other night. An MLS player that fans didn't want to see on the field scored a really nice goal. So that trust is there and I think now that it's been proven out that it's been effective and it's worked. It's overall record is now 34 7 and 8, which I believe is the highest winning percentage of any U.S. men's national team coach. Now, granted, he also has, at least in my opinion, by far the most talented U.S. team ever assembled. So beyond this decision to split the team up to get experience across a wider swath of players, what do you think he has done well for this team? And I guess I'm thinking in particular about kind of tactical decisions. Has he made the right choices about how to line up and how to play strategically in some of these big games? Well, great for halter had an interesting quote last week where he's talking about what he learned as the men's national team coach since he took over in 2019. And I think the most important thing he learned was in 2019 when they lost to Canada in the nation's league. They got beat in Canada. They were outmatched completely in that game. They were trying to build out of the back, play the way Greg berhalter's club teams and specifically the Columbus crew had played. And Greg berhalter decided to change things. When you're at a club, you know, it's a building type of thing. And when you're at a national team, I think it's a winning type of thing. My mindset had to change, you know, to be much more about winning every game. And basically what he did was he changed the formation to a four three three, and he integrated more pressing. System that fit this player pool a little bit better. And I think that was the most important moment in Greg berhalter's tenure. When you think about winning nations, we need gold cup. You know, it was important for the mentality of this group to understand that this is why we're playing this thing. And in the same time, building a strong culture. So it's a little bit of that club attitude with the mindset that we're here to win games. He showed that confidence to them saying, I'm not afraid to change if it's not working. And let's play this way that maybe works a little bit better. The path to that moment, trying things out, seeing what worked best and then finding the system that was going to be the most effective and embracing it fully is what I remember of kind of the journey of this national team as it pertains to Greg berhalter's coaching. And I think effectively has changed the way this U.S. team plays, but also the responsibility that the players on the field feel toward the results. And lastly, Paul, let's go out on a limb here and say that the U.S. does not lose by 6 goals on Wednesday night. They qualify for cotter. What problems does this team still need to address between now and November? And then conversely, how high is the ceiling for this team? Well, the biggest question is who starts at the number 9. So that to me is the problem that needs to be solved. The problem is it can't be solved through coaching. Somebody needs to step up, somebody needs to be that guy. Will it happen? We don't know. Maybe. Maybe peppy figures it out at Augsburg and starts playing and start scoring goals. Maybe Norwich goes down to the championship and Josh Sargent becomes the number 9 for them and plays every game as the number 9 and scores 25 goals and is in great form going into the World Cup. We don't know what's going to happen, but it's not an easy problem to solve. It's simply personnel. That's the biggest question. And that question dictates, I think, the ceiling of this team. But I also want to note, again, if Christian Pulisic is able to be what he was against Panama. And if we see the continued evolution of a player like Gio reyna, who we saw his potential against Mexico with that 18 yard box to 18 yard box individual run where he was dribbling past 6 Mexican defenders and finally ran out of gas, then yeah, I mean, you start to get a little bit excited about, you know, maybe they can manufacture goals in another way. And if you can't find the number 9, I think the question becomes, how can we maximize the two star wingers on this team? Christian Pulisic and G arena. And so those are the two questions. Is there a number 9? If so, maybe we don't have to change that much. Is there not a number 9? If so, how do we maximize Christian Pulisic and G arena? And that determines the ceiling of this U.S. men's national team. Paul, thanks so much for breaking all this down for us and May there be peace in your family on Wednesday night. Well, when both teams get to the World Cup, everyone will be happy and my family is having a little party for me on Thursday and I think I'll be able to enjoy it a bit more. All right, we'll enjoy the trip, man. Thanks again. Thanks. You can follow all of paulton Oreos coverage of the U.S. men's national team at the athletic dot com. From wondering the athletic,.

"By the throat and never let it go. Another penalty kick from Christian Pulisic. Melissa chance for a second. Chance for the Americans fourth in the dying moments of the first half. Yes. And before you knew it, you look up at the scoreboard going into halftime and it's four zero. And I think it was not just Christian's best performance in a U.S. uniform, but one of the better performances for many U.S. men's national team player over the last two sites. And if I'm not mistaken, Paul, it was after that second penalty kick that we saw. A celebration that I will never be able to unsee. Then look at this. Okay, busting out the worm. That's more your department than mine. Your thoughts on one of the worst worms ever performed? Well, I think credit to Christian because Christian knows he gets a hard time for his goal celebrations, his dances. But after the game, U.S. soccer provided a few quotes from Christian, one of them was about the worm celebration. And basically what had happened was Christian politic and the U.S. team met some fans the day before and there was a fan named mason, a teenager who's fighting cancer. And Christian spoke with him for some time. And mason asked him if you score a goal, can you do the worm celebration? I have a request. You score the goal you have to do the worm. The worm. You better get to work on it. All right. We've seen in the days since then, mason's mother has gone on Twitter talking about how much it meant to mason that Christian actually did it. He didn't think Christian would actually do the worm on his request. So credit to Christian knowing already that his dances are under a lot of scrutiny to go ahead and do the worm and survive not just the heckling on social media, but from his own teammates who I think were a bit unrelenting in their postgame press conferences about that dance as well. Oh, that's great. Well, as this game went on, Paul, we also saw a side of Christian Pulisic that we don't often see. You know, he was getting into it a bit with some of Panama's players. Holistic needs to just walk away from that. As Maria came in, someone for the men kids of all puns in a big they got to get pulisic out of there. Nothing good's going to come from any of that from an American standpoint. What was your read on that side of his game in that display of emotion from him? I think it goes to this idea that four years ago, Christian Pulisic missed out on a World Cup. And that is something that an American player of his gal burn never has experienced before. And that no one thought was a possibility. And so I think when Greg berhalter and his team gave Christian Pulisic that captain's armband and when you go into a game knowing you can essentially seal qualification. All of that was tied into this one individual who has represented both the potential of American men soccer and sadly the failures of it because the image that we remember from Trinidad is Christian sitting on the field holding on to his knees crying. And so I think he finally recognized this moment and said, I am not going to let that happen again. The U.S. needed that result in Panama to be in the position they're in going into the final game against Costa Rica. If they had not won that game, they would be in Costa Rica where they've never won before and qualifying needing to get a result in order to get to Qatar. And I think Christian Pulisic, you could see both in his soccer performance, but also in the emotional aspect that he was going to confront this game and those implications head on and that he was going to take it on his shoulders and ensure that this team was going to the World Cup and that he was going to the World Cup. Well, then Paul, about halfway through the second half, we saw a bit of true magic from Christian Pulisic. Can you walk us through the play that sealed his hat trick? Yeah, it was a wonderful moment. The cross came in from the left side, I believe Anthony Robinson delivered it. And Christian, as he usually is, was between several defenders of the opposing team. It's very rare to see Christian ballistic alone or one on one when the U.S. plays. And in between these two defenders in the Panamanian box, Christian jumps in the air and takes the ball with his left foot, which is not as strong as foot. And his touch goes between his own legs. That's by design. He needs to turn towards goal. So he takes the ball between his legs, lands on his feet, and at that moment, a third Panamanian defender comes from his right side. The ball is bouncing and politic fuels the pressure and just with one little toe poke of his right foot balances that ball between the legs of the Panamanian defender megs him, and then calmly looks up, slots the ball past Panamanian goalkeeper as though it's nothing. As though it's a simple finish. We'll hook that cross in place. And it just speaks to his skill level. The fact that he was able to take those touches as he did to keep his composure and to finish. The U.S. did not make it really it just reinforces why Christian Pulisic is Christian felicity. Christian Pulisic have a day see you later. Nutmeg fivefold in the back of the net hat trick Captain America is leading this team back to the promised land. This is just. It was a beautiful goal. It sealed the outcome. And then his celebration was perfect. He kind of raised his arms to the crowd. It reminded me of Russell Crowe and Gladiator. Are you not entertained? That's what it looked like. He was almost shrugging, and he had his arms out like that is what I'm giving you guys tonight. That was for you. And I thought it basically capped his best performance ever for this U.S. team. So when you step back and look at this big picture, how do you think this game against Panama will be remembered for this U.S. men's team and for Christian Pulisic in particular? Well, for me, that's the big question, because I believe it has the potential to be a moment that defines Christian ballistic with the U.S. men's national team. If Christian can take this performance, bottle it up a little bit. Remember what it feels like. And finally release the pressure that he said that he felt with the U.S. team to constantly deliver those types of performances and so he tries to do too much when he's on the field instead of letting the game kind of come to him. But if he can remember the way he did a little bit of both in this game, the way he embraced the moment and yet was a part of the team. Then he has the potential to be one of the greatest who's ever played for the U.S. and the hope for U.S. soccer. The hope for the men's national team, the hope for Christian Pulisic is that that is what this game will represent, that this is the moment that Christian Pulisic embraced the responsibility, learned how to harness it and became the star that we've all expected him to be since he first broke in to the national team for 5 years ago. And so coming off of this performance in Panama, potentially going to the World Cup and now having the biggest possible stage. I think we have the potential to see another level of Christian ballistic with this U.S. team. And if we see that, the potential for this U.S. team changes dramatically. The ceiling for this team with all of the other young stars you want to talk about is one thing. The ceiling of this team with all of those young stars and Christian Pulisic being the star is a totally different level. And that's what U.S. soccer is thinking about right now. Can we keep Christian here so that we can talk about real implications of where this team can go in Qatar and beyond? Okay, coming up, sizing up the performance of U.S. coach Gregg berhalter. "Mario, where are we reaching you right now? I am in San Jose Costa Rica, which is a really cool for me, both personally and professionally, the U.S. plays their final World Cup qualifier on Wednesday night in Costa Rica and also I am Costa Rican. My father was born here moved to the U.S. when he was 19 years old. He's the only one of his family to move to the U.S.. So I'm able to steal some time to go with my deals and tias and all my cousins and have dinner and experience the country a little bit on a personal level as well. That sounds amazing. What was on the menu last night? Oh man, it was a typical traditional Costa Rica dish, cassava, rice and beans, a little bit of steak, some avocado, a fried egg on top of it all. Some platinum made so like a sweet plantain and tortillas, handmade tortillas from my tea of floor. So it was a great night and we talked a lot of soccer. All my uncles and cousins wanted to talk with soccer. So we did a bunch of that. And then I transitioned into can we talk about something else, you know? But it was wonderful. You can't escape work even with the family when you're in Costa Rica. I love it. Well, Paul, I believe the last time we had you on the show was just before the U.S. men began their high stakes World Cup qualifying campaign. And now we're basically at the end of that campaign. And you know, the U.S. team took some flak on Sunday for holding up a banner that said qualified after their win against Panama, but what exactly is the situation as they head into this final game on Wednesday night against Costa Rica? What would have to happen for them to not qualify for the World Cup at this point? Well, they can't get knocked out of qualifying altogether. They have sealed the fourth position in Concacaf, which guarantees them a spot in the intercontinental playoff against the winner of Oceania in June, which is likely to be New Zealand. So we know that it won't be like it was in 2017 where they lost and Trinidad and they were out of the World Cup completely. That much is secured. They would have to lose by 6 goals or more to Costa Rica in order to get knocked out of one of the top three spots in qualification, which is an automatic bid to the World Cup in November. That would be obviously a significant loss. The Costa Rica team is not a high scoring team. And so it would be very unlikely for the U.S. to lose by 6 goals. Keeping that in mind, the last time the U.S. played a World Cup qualifier in Costa Rica, was in that 2017 cycle. They lost four nothing here. It was Jurgen Klinsmann's final game in charge. So when I was debating with my family last night about soccer and they were saying there's no way Costa Rica will win 6 nothing, I said, hey, don't forget what happened four years ago here in San Jose. So I would say very, very unlikely, but not impossible. All right, well, Paul, we wanted to pick your brain about one guy in particular on this U.S. roster. The guy who some people have started referring to as Captain America, others sometimes call the LeBron James of soccer. Neither of which I personally like one bit. But this of course is Christian Pulisic. Can you start by walking us through what had been going on with him in the weeks leading up to these pivotal qualifying games? Well, actually, it was a really positive time for Christian Pulisic coming into the final round of qualification. He's kind of gone through an up and down season at Chelsea. They haven't been sure of where they want to play him. He's been asked to play a bunch of different roles. It seemingly everywhere besides his preferred position of winger. And he expressed frustration at that when we saw him ahead of the games in January and February. It's tough. I mean, I've haven't always been playing in the positions I want to play in. And I think I'm ready to hopefully be in a spot in the next couple of games that I'm more comfortable in. We'll go to talking about the pressures he faces both internationally to come into the U.S. and be the hero and at the club level to fulfill the expectations of an American player at a club like Chelsea. It's always, when I come to the national team, it's how are things that Chelsea, how what's this? What's that? And yeah, things are things are, it's tough, it's tough. It's definitely played a lot on me, and immensely it's been difficult at times. But coming into this camp, he actually was in a great run of form. Time for Chelsea to fashion one more chance, havertz. Christian Pulisic. That was quite brilliant. About as confident as we've seen Christian Pulisic coming into a U.S. camp in a long, long time. But when you give it to him in these areas, it's an absolute brilliant finish. And so I think there was a little bit more of an expectation of what are we going to see from him now that he's in a good place going into this camp, it was, what can the U.S. do to capture some of that good form from Chelsea and translate it onto the field for the U.S. national team? Well, what are the questions leading into their game against Panama on Sunday was who would wear the captain's armband? One of my Friends as a side note was a little upset that Tyler Adams lost the armband after he wore it against Mexico last Thursday. Paul, can you talk about head coach Greg Barr halter's rationale to make pulisic the captain once again? Well, I'd start just by saying that there hasn't been a consistent captain throughout this World Cup qualifying campaign. And that's by design. Greg berhalter does have a leadership council within the team and the belief of the staff is that anyone from that leadership council can wear the captain's armband. So many of these players are 21, 22 years old. There are 18 and 19 year olds that are contributing in this U.S. team. And so there really isn't one true leader of this national team right now. It just doesn't exist. Now, going into the game against Panama, Greg berhalter said after the game, there was a deliberate reasoning behind giving Christian Pulisic to armband. Christian Pulisic was on the field in 2017 when the U.S. lost in Trinidad. He experienced that disappointment firsthand. And the coaching staff talked about it and decided on Christian I think because of the journey. And so Greg burter said, I wanted to give him the armband to recognize that journey to recognize what that meant to him and to say to him this is a different group now and you are a leader in this group. He was on the field when we didn't qualify. And this was us saying to him, you know, this is a new group. This is a new team and you're a leader. And we want to show that. And we want to highlight that. Christian was a young teenager when the U.S. lost in Trinidad. He wasn't a leader of that team. And Greg berhalter wanted to make sure he understood, we believe in you. We believe that you are a leader of this team and also we want to reward you and let you experience a super high of getting to a World Cup after experiencing a low in the history of U.S. soccer of not making the World Cup. Okay, so those were the circumstances around ballistic heading into this pivotal game on Sunday. He's lived through the disappointment. He's stepped into a leadership role on this team. He's having a good run of form, as you mentioned. Walk us through what we saw from him in the first half of this game. Underway, FIFA World Cup qualifying. It's interesting about the game in Orlando was for the first ten minutes of the game Panama was actually the better team. It's kept him play and Cara skin having a hit. Houston dynamo midfielder drawing a giant from The Crown in Orlando. Here we go. You can see the nerves of the U.S. team. And I think the game changed in the 11th minute. Christian Pulisic pressured a Panamanian defender, and he met Tyler Adams at that player at the same time. And they were able to win the ball back. And when that happened, the crowd in Orlando went crazy. They had been waiting for something to cheer for and to see their captain make such a strong.

"And i we we got married then and i was stationed at the naval academy for a few months and i got a call from lamar hunt. Who said roger. I'd like to come up and talk to you in. Yes mr he said. Yeah i said if you if you ever decide you wanna play football sunday. We want you to play for the kansas city chiefs and and because i was drafted by dallas. I guess there was. You know that that that issue and so. He came in a nice person he was. You know. at the time. I was getting like four hundred and twenty dollars a month as an ensign and and he offered me a five hundred a month. A ten thousand dollar. Check the hundred thousand dollar bonus. If i left after my four years played for kansas city so he was looking to the future and so i told a navy captain who legal officer navy captain. Paul borden and i sent born. Can i do this am i. If i sign this. He said let me look into it. He came back. he said roger. You have to give your four years and you can do whatever you want those four years and nothing wrong with you know taking the money now if they want to give it to you you don't have you don't have to leave the service and he said but did you. Have you talked to dallas. And i said no. And he said well let me call him so he called. Gil brandt or you get a hold of gilbert was go brandy talked to gillibrand for our listeners. That don't know lamar hunt was the owner of the chiefs. Who owned the cowboys. Then clint murchison and gil. Brandt was his right hand. Gills was really mr football and he was in charge of all the drafting and everything and so he said yeah. We'd we'd love. We'd like to talk to you. So captain board went and met with the cowboys and they offered to say the said they do the same thing so i agreed that if i ever played again i play for alice and then i call mr humpback told him and he said well roger. We were just beginning. I wanted to talk to you more. And i said well i think he was kidding. What he said that he just said it really wasn't that big of a deal. I had four years ago. I wasn't sure. I was never play again when i got back and i was stationed at pensacola. I took leave in the dallas training camp the year before i was able to. If i was going to leave the service been my fourth year. I was with the rookies and people there for two weeks. I really did find coach. Landry gave me a playbook which was amazing. So that's when. I realized i was gonna play again and and then i told the navy that after my four years i was going to go play with the dallas cowboys. I went back to pensacola for a year. And i studied my playbook i could and i joined the cowboys in one thousand nine sixty five. Did you contemplate staying in the service. All i did i enjoyed the service and i felt guilty of but i served the time. I was responsible for four years. I felt i was lucky person to get to.

Captain Carter Is the Crux of Marvel’s ‘What if…?’ Animated Series

"Know you are at this article unlash slash on my lincoln in the show notes The title is captain. Carter's crux of marvel's what if animated series and will return in future seasons. So this is what. I was alluding to earlier. When i was like. You know the choice to make this exit. One is kind of unfortunate but it also seems like it was necessary because she is a pivotal character. Can you talk a little bit about that. Oil learned. yeah you know. They didn't really dig into the specifics of it too much but they used her as this. You know launching points on to create a universe because it's not only. Is this the first story that we've seen As far as the marvel cinematic universe chronological. Timeline is concern You know it's obviously will will learn soon that the attorneys have been around for a lot longer. But captain america is still the first injure and now captain carter is the first adventure. So there's that but apparently there will be something that will see as time goes on that makes captain more important to the kind of stories that they're telling in. What if because not only will she obviously come back in some capacity when you consider the end of this episode. And the fact that we've seen her you know in a shot with doctor strange and that shot with you know the presumed new avengers but they said that She will also be returning in future seasons of marvel's what if and they're already working on a second season in the show show she'll have a story that will continue much in the same way that captain america story continued once he was brought back from being frozen for all that time

"And he's like oh like something's up here go run to times square and nick fury corners them and then like they kind of each other. He goes you good and i. I don't know nick. i'm gonna need a minute. Because i'm seven years in the future. Everyone i've ever known as dead except for bucky. But i don't know that yet so i don't know can i like. Can i fall apart a little bit here. Is that okay with you nick. It was a little weird to know. We have to move onto the next know. I love to nick. Fury like drove up at an acura argue. Push back on that a little bit like a kia soul in toll and like what's up my guy. I need you to get it together Jamie ernie fun trivia came. Crosses you pressure for that okay. So when we look at these trying to find like facs not trying to impress your with things. I learned back in the early wishlist. This film was in development for eight years and there were all kinds of issues with frights who owned it was sony. marble was paramount. Whoever and so in the original wishlist from marvel of who would star in the film it was down to three people channing. Tatum ryan phillipi and john kuczynski. Whoa i know in the director from the beginning wanted chris evans like wanted him. Marvel was like absolutely not. He was already in the fantastic four. He was the human torch we can't. We have a person play a different character in the same lake. Universe scher and and he just would not give up and then what happens is they leaked that the top three or them and let me tell you what comic book nerds did not want. They did not want jim. I think i've been america. No day rioted. I mean genuinely rioted and so marvel came back to the director was like now. Who who is it that you want it again. And so. Chris evans never auditioned. He was offered the film three times each time turning down Because he said later in interviews even at the time he was a doctor right he was like listen. They wanted me this on a nine film deal. Wow and i didn't want to get married to a franchise for that long. He's not been in eleven films He said he was also he said i knew. I told a friend that if i if this movie fails i'm screwed used more colorful language and if this movie succeeds i'm screwed because i will lose every bit of privacy i've ever had because this will be what i do. This be in this. You know in the industry. I will be captain america and i think that's perspective was so interesting because prior to becoming captain america He is He's in like scott. Pilgrim vs world is like one of the old boyfriends but he's also in a movie called the nanny data diaries and you always characters name is guess. Use like no. It's harvard hottie. That's his character's name. So i just i what i would like to say. I don't know if it's popping off like he thought it should go so. I think this was probably confirm and marvel relented because there were two recommendations that they got that they trusted and one was from danny boyle. Because chris evans was in his movie. Sonchon a sci fi film then edgar wright had directed him in scott pilgrim vs the world before and he told kevon by listen the.

"That was very if it wa. I'm glad but it just fit. Well let's just what it was also saw us up what strength they have left. There are always more workers churches guide to handling volunteer labor. Or that'd be fitting away so you don't want war we'll shop those are kendra. Was there seen that you thought you could imagine is like a like a precious moments kind of set up. I feel like there's only one correct answer this and it is. When steve falls on the dummy grenade was good outta be lying down on his side like a little baby protecting this grenade and then i sort of envision like all the other main characters. It's like they're looking at him over their shoulder. You know with like very looks of appraisal. That's the thing new. Because he also has that big head like a precious moment actually. Don't put your tiny baby torso over. Put your big head over and you're gonna share everybody off. I had the When when steven one hundred seventh emerged in the wilderness you know and they're walking in the woods and timely jones wouldn't say him hills going on out there. I loved it so much figuring out of the woods. Jamie were there any sins any gentle rebukes of this movie that you feel like you talk about. I do have a few first of all. i be understand. Why in movies when anyone ever in any movie gets bigger their pants so fit understand that like when he comes on pod. It's like his way still he's like. Oh these pants but it's still so nice. I love these pleated. Khakis respect that about the hulk. Because i thing that bus says his pants every time. I don't understand the sisterhood of the traveling event japan. I don't understand why they're like that. That's where it was invented. The first thing second. I hate to tipsy slain. This movie 'cause you know steve says what i don't understand why can't get drunk and and it's because his metabolism works at four times the rate you just got drink higher higher proof and you don't worry about it like that's not true that's just math. Also also every time something hits that shield it makes a noise white. Start telling us it is vibration. Absorbent like guys is just again. I'm just looking for a scientist to show up and then again i still don't understand the end. Why he has to be on the plane when it crashes with us shield. Maybe he doesn't know that you'll find that out later. But he can basically with that shield he could also just flake. I don't know. I just don't understand why i had to go down with the but he could have done a canon ball in the arctic. And been fine. you know. Well jaime i see but the plot needed him to the choir and that's not what the that's why they were because journal in. It's not harsh. That's why the same reason. Why tommy lee. jones Is present for steve to be transformed right. He sees his glorious glistening peck muscles. Which i don't know if that was condensation why like does baby oil in there. I don't know why whatever batali sees that okay. So he's like okay. This guy is pretty legit. Then somebody jones further winces Steve Using bolting through new york to track down fred clemson which again is the weirdest finding life and beat him to death and make him cyanide himself and then timely jones's like i don't know i just i don't think i can use you so you need to stay.

"That way. My favorite is no good him just doing crusty old guy is the perfect manifestation of like what you want out of that role in her. You cast so. He's so good creative. Tommy lee jones is. He has been that age his entire. It's the weirdest thing he's always been sixty five rudd whoever's yeah he might have walked off the set of no control men and just done this role and there's like no inbetween for you know for low key stanley tucci effort. We've talked around him and obviously we're all kind of loving him and his performance. I think He does i think has functioned. The first artist movie is so important. Because there's never really the marriage of like the the ceremony and seriousness of the war but also the heart of like what they're trying to do here and we'd get that on the the nazi side with like the red skull of like but but it's it's corrupt it. Right is his evil terrible thing that they're trying to use to empower themselves. Stanley tucci is really. The only person in steve's live to be like they're you know he's he seeing the bigger picture of like. We can't put a bully in this superpower role. We have to put someone who's authentically good and i think for him that's the first manifestation of heart in this movie and he does it so well but i do want to ding in some ding him. Some points because i think this him in this role He has fooled at at the was showing how he's fooled. So many dudes and being like i'm kind of going balding i should shave it all off. And i'll look amazing ca stanley to. She looks amazing but like he has the the the face of greek god right like. It's just like poetic and nice and in unassuming and unthreatening and most people probably end up looking like stanley tucci in this movie with scraggly hair and just like the unkempt. Disheveled looks. I i do think points offer that okay kendra. What is something in this movie that you know. It's not meant to be sacred. It's not overtly sacred. That's not like obvious or anything like that. But when you're looking at this movie lens trying to do here that you do see it as like faith adjacent. So when steve is in the machine and he's getting injected to become captain america. I had this like wash over me of like wait. Is that kind of like the holy spirit. That like makes who we are more and better. Yeah like it was big pectoral muscles as roma's yeah Contrasted with when he stands in front of that Soldier picture was like a mirror. Saying where you you know like you stick your head through the corncob and the the big wooden corncob an affair and And it was like a so a picture of a soldier and he didn't quite fit it and it was a really interesting contrast to me because it felt like. That's what i often will do is try to fit myself into what i think. A person of faith should look like don't fit. You're not quite tall enough..

"Listen we talk about movies a lot particularly those that follow that three act rule right so they take off well they fly fast and then they often crash and burn not even with marvel. Marvel cannot always took the landing. But with this maybe with the flash forward and you got nick fury and got steve just saying i had a date and boom kite were out god. It's just like you got lovely resolve. But you've then you've got this delightful cliffhanger get you pumped up about. What will happen next. i loved it. That was always my favorite was the end. Okay okay good. We have great taste her looking. Mvp then tommy. Lee jones as hubs I i love when tommy. Lee jones is a crotchety authority figure. Who also cares like that is his sweet spot when i saw him in the fugitive Years ago like that was that was my tommy. Lee jones There's no way. Caring opened up to him and seen in the future of when he's been harrison. I didn't care my wife and he's like i don't care seen that movie so many times i think i might be able to recite it word for word. That's not what this episode is for No i think that he all right. I think that almost every character except for stanley to g Was a little two-dimensional right. I mean i think that all of the supporting i think everything they all said about. The ensemble is great. I think people like hit their points. I just don't think they were given a whole lot to do. And like we said about st rogers. Like if you're having captain america you're having this like good guy. The whole point of his character is to be A man of character and soul and he obeys the rules like he's not going to be he's not a flawed person. Peggy's not there's no one that's really a that's got a lot of edge to them. And so i think that. Tommy lee jones for me talk about sparkle like there was when he came on screen. It just felt like there was life there was just like humanity to what he brought to them and he was so funny like when they were When he kissed when he kissed peggy when he's jumping out from the plane was like i'm not kissing. It isn't driving the car. Like delivery of those lines is just perfect. He for sure heike. Mvp i even low. I think he had no it is it is all caps heike. The whole thing and kendra. You're exactly right. And i haven't thought about it until you started saying that but you know a lot of times when you get these boring superheroes and i say boring. Because they're their plot mechanic isn't to be interesting. It's to be the center of gravity for everybody else to function around right. The how you fix that. Is you create these really interesting layered textured characters around them that you probably want to spend more time with but you're not allowed to because of the order of the movie and this movie does fail now respect of. Nobody's really probably. The mostly person is fred clemson. The guy who betray like who's the germans by but we can no time with him and it's like why was he by what happened there but everybody else is pretty straight ahead evenly like well. I don't know you killed a billion nasi. So i guess we're chill now and it's like okay but like why are you so crusty with him when he lays down the With peggy means like you..

"America and we're talking about how it setting Kind of lay in that initial foundation of the vendors. I think it's important to think about the principal element of cats in america. So i feel like before we get to pearl. Doesn't we really try to like i dunno dig out. The secular elements are i'm sorry sacred elements. I feel like it's important to get on the same page with you to like. Where you at with chris evans right. Is he a sacred element to you. Wear like on the chris scale kendra. When you're thinking chris evans is he top of the chris gayle bottom somewhere in the middle. Where yet. I like the is going to make a bottom joke. I won't do it Right out of the gate no. It's funny because i was kind of anti not anti chris evans but anti america beginning like even the adventures. I sort of felt about him. The way that tony stark does where it's like you're boring you'll follow too many roles you don personality by in. I guess it was infinity. War is that when he grew a beard and got was and i just felt like he was like slightly broke in and he made me feel safe. And now chris evans is is. I think he might be the only chris behind chris pine for me. Wow okay so. He's really ascended because he does fit into. He's kind of into the idea that you find you're talking about blandly handsome you know and like cats. Obviously he's very attractive guy. But i feel like in terms of catch america's character. There's a lot of blandness to it right. And it kind of lends itself to be like yeah like. I don't know that. I would like to hang out with you. But i am glad that you're fighting. Nazis on my behalf know exactly right exactly right. You're glad that he's like in charge of things but not a good hang. After the whole task is over does exactly right jamie. That has its chris pine and chris evans and what happens is chris. Pine is in wonder woman. And i'm like. Oh i see you coming out of the water with your watch high. It's it's tough one. Definitely want to read modern. Captain america for schieffer young girls. Who can america's jingles Okay so that was the only james for the movies. The bucky off then. Yeah okay yeah because especially at at the same time. You know like batman and robin i appeared. Yeah they kind of tried to make captain american bucky like the batman and robin over there at the same time during you know wonder woman and batman had a baby captain america. Oh yeah. I guess. The captain america's Trail in this issue no christie. Nobody cares about you. You think thought he seems fine I mean like. I really know him from the movies. Obviously i know obama more so i thought it was kind of good. The could see a bit how he is different from from bam bam in how i say. He's not as smart as batman. But i guess he's not as moore's law just in you know it's clear when it happened by the bruce Up pretty quickly. That like steve. Rogers captain america. That's why they had it watching me. Not just some verandah. So i mean it's all of that so i thought that was. That was good. I mean at this point. I mean he's only you know he's just following orders he's basically you know like a soldier was until it like he gets frozen and unfrozen becomes like his own man but to think i think it's cannon like when he gets the super series only like nineteen or twenty so batman my older than him at this point ed in story so that been definitely be over like ten years older. Yeah that's true. yeah. I do think that was interesting. That yeah he was basically. So he's captain america. he's basically other people don't want these like oj again soldier. Yes there and i know these guys are like super villains but i love how like the red skull has to wear like jain swastika on chessy. No he's a nazi case. You forgot root for him. Like a weirdo. I did enjoy how low since the forties. How low tech. It is like after american just walked up to a giant map and like i need a ruler pencil. That's where we go. Let's do it like we asked. Were not hacking into anybody's computer. Who says on minds honors again it's the forties and then to once you get to the bat cave. Anything in there seems high tech compared to everything else in the story. Although greg me on a took the manhattan project in horse of the gop rising everything always has gone even if you can get it knowing how crime i mean. Don't they say something about how god is known as seething matrix of grinding corruption on earth. Would you sit up in new a major block. Kristen accidentally happened accidentally goes off. Who's gonna no big long wayne care that exploded and i love him. Like all these crossover stories than they did it here too. It's in you know that encounters the red skull and captain american conyers the joker but of course at some point they find a way to make them switch partners to like when that batman gets captured by the red skull was with bucky. And captain america's with robin for a while well channel Were there like Is by being nascar for some. But this is what a mere like Bits fight for captain america batman and our dog. Oh my that was really were that she's back. Then when i love zeppelin dubliner whatever. Yeah yeah yeah well. yeah we get. The america gets out of the plane. And who grabbed batman. Oh yeah this is great line. When he said captain america couldn't arrived at a better time Seder overreach myself that made we all make mistakes. Captain that's why they put race on the end of pencils batman with worthy wisdom. Like that way. How could you not true. How could you not event. Yeah that leads up to. I think fan will were buggy. Drives with rotated robin bookie not have the more interesting partner and exciting life. Though batmans of millionaire malzahn millionare's have fun with that. Buddy how was your phone with your camp rations. Letting you i was gonna say he's willing whatever the army's giving them i mean i guess. Nazis is pretty exciting but the word not getting go on forever. Plaid twisted did but the difference. We are still finding. I mean really address it. But why is bruce wayne been drafted. He making a rich rich people literally especially back then. Didn't go what others say. The biggest boon spurs and his feet or something. Now he was where you then you. I give occupy need bush. They never deal with that in the comics but in these super races zero batman from nineteen forty three. I think it is. They do explain. That what batman is doing at home counts as is service. So he's down row now he's ridgway. We can all agree to that at twenty twenty one. It's not that rich anymore. Sell their that comma. Yes although i enjoy it. I guess that's what chicken the stocks in the forties. Get that ticker tape out of there coca cola. Five points stop. So that's fun. And of course i enjoyed out Mazing old-timey girl that blaze buys are attic controls. Somebody get him some pants please. Degrees skip leg day in his life every every day lakes day. Hey hey where. "Spectacle of the big screen. Variety has also been in great supply recently. We'll get to several new releases this week. Well several being four steven soderbergh's latest the crime drama. No sudden move. That came to hbo. Max last week. Don cheadle the neo del toro and a bunch of other great actors in that one also summer of soul from first time. Director quests love came to theaters into hulu that concert doc about a nineteen sixty nine harlem concert series that featured performances by nina simone stevie wonder sly and the family stone and many more all of those having never been seen since nineteen sixty nine our review of that one could just be a ranking of our top five favorite moments. We might. We might even do that. Josh that would probably get us through the first half hour of the movie. I think we can pick five from that. Yeah you also caught up with zola which stars riley keough a wild road trip tale inspired at least in part by an infamous twitter thread. I can't wait for you to unpack that and more later in the show. But i the is finally back on a big screen near you after a handful of disney plus streaming series phase for kicks off with the scarlett johansson starring feature black widow. Fine an enter. Black Widow Is Finally Here. Was It Worth the Wait?

"It's been a long long long long long time coming. We've gotten some. Mc you stuff in between this movies much delayed arrival but this is the first movie in a great many days. how did you feel about black widow. I enjoyed it which is probably the first signal that it doesn't work in the context of white it is supposed to do for fans and the mc you and like marvell writ large in this moment. In time i do think it mostly works as a movie in the sense of. There's a beginning a middle like three ends. You know who the characters are. It's fairly fully baked some fun performances. You go to the movies and you have a nice time. But i don't think. I don't know if that's sufficient for any like event movie at this point but i certainly don't think it is what anyone going to marvel property expects at this point it's an interesting example of the opposite of everything that marvel has been building towards. Which is to say that this is very much a standalone kind of a movie which doesn't mean that it doesn't necessarily preview what's coming in the future but because it's a period piece within a period piece it takes place largely in two thousand sixteen after the events of captain america's civil war and also we know the fate of the main character in this movie natasha romanoff. We don't know the. I mean that's a big umbrella of we. You know you did i. It started i was like i actually don't remember who died in which snap back. You know whatever. I'm going to go with it but i do understand that that people who are really logging on do you. In fact know what happens to the black widow.

"As you said that will go on and on on and hopefully we at least get to see those characters now. These days develops in other media the cuts. Nice little check to go with that. You know it's it's very nice thing like you were saying it. So it's weird. It's like well if someone gets the credit once they hit live action. Who gets the credit. Because i i mean there was an issue recently. I think i was at a brubaker. Where it's like you know. He didn't create bucky barnes but he created the concept of the winter soldier. So it's yes so that exactly that exactly you know. There is a perfect example. He took this character day existed for decades and decades but turned it into something very different. So you know. Hopefully the company recognizes everyone that's contributed was is likely Thank you with the winter. Soldier show because staying not nine pedal in the development of character and okay. No no no no one. You know there was no pushback when you killing a character comics in comics simultaneously. Going on in your brain one is. I have to treat this as if this is real. This is the depth of the red skull. He's never coming back. And that's the way i wrote. The second thing is is that ocean of the marlena vanhoose. He'll be back you know he's going to be back. Yeah the question is along the way. How will they do when they. You know you know the problem with me. That is one such a big macguffin device and framing and getting the the codes the codes and getting the book in the mission plans and waterboarding. That's not really waterboarding. Just killing people in horrendous ways this whole long road just to break up the avengers because they like you said mike kind tangentially killed your family. "Family member We were buddy. I don't i don't know where the affection comes from because the reactions are so outsized. It's it's it's a tough one because if this movie this is a bad jumping on point so many other movies are on. This are supposed to be fun. I movies not no. I have a note about that. It's it's if it's a movie full of fun things to a very not fun. End the so much fun in this movie but at the end of the day not much good happens so sorry for the people that had to watch this with people. That only seen this. What's sicko via what. What are they talking. Shit is i just well. We're almost there but like after the bomb goes off. And because he's not because he's not paying attention. she got distracted because he said martha. And you have where the goes off and then you have chart which she grabbed. She grabs it with her powers and she just moves it up and blows of a billion they get blamed for it and like i feel like they shouldn't have taken too much blame as they did for it like yesterday caused it. But if he if she would did that the bomb to kill all those people on the ground and add more people on the ground and there were probably in that building. I'm going to say yeah. I wanna people. I interesting because i agree. I think it's it's interesting because but also you have to keep in mind. This will come up when ross is talking about. Ross's zeal senator government guy okay. Great he when he's talking about. He's and he will see this next. He's basically talking about you guys 'cause nothing but problems you guys. Going someplace you fight the interstellar thing that no one else can fight great. Thanks but then you just kind of leave and you never really think much about the aftermath which think back to all the vendors movies that we've seen and he does that and that real he's going through and saying you destroyed buildings and thereby people in there and they were view. There's a lot of suffering and pain goes along with this. Probably because you guys don't really recognize except for captain america what war is and what collateral damages And this is the first time we've seen scarlet any evanger actively kill people. You know on accident right. She got she took the bomb and she used her superpowers to throw in the air. Just because get it away from from my teammate. And didn't even think where she was throwing it. And that's what ross's point is and that's what makes this movie interesting. Everybody has a good point. Now got a point here. There's no one's really wrong or super evil except our must twirler. Gets you get to him. But he worst villains. He's not great not not good. I don't use between him and and Red face from original captain. America but Way better yeah we have. You have context from the from the comic books and said he's good. He's never in this movie. Yeah only we'll get to that. 'cause i honestly don't have the context but as far as this goes. I think this extraordinarily effective for me. At least i. I you know captain america looks at it and he seeing it firsthand. Where usually he's got one goal. The mission right. The missions stopped the giants bay slugs coming aspects from the vendors or stop this that and the other thing but he actually sees this happen..

I thought that was bad at because he kind of holds crossing hold his own against cap coup last fight because crossville did not really. There's nothing that special. Just a regular guy. He's got those piston gallons which will and is that from the From the comic as well he has the his pissing donaldson. Oh one for punching one for stabbing you know. Remind me of a follow with the The power fists yes. I don't think there from the comics. But i could be wrong. I cross ones goes. I don't the only time. I think i've seen that kept america. The major scam a really well known character at all. He's a very unknown character. I mean i have first appearance just because of that stupid. What wastewater for me when we first got together. But it's not. He's not used a lot. he's very unknown character. I would say. Don't not nothing wrong. You've never heard of them. I don't really watch. And the only thing they refer to as crossbones either. That's a good. I'm glad i call them. Sculthorpe him when. I first saw trailers for this movie and i thought i was excited. I'm like yeah literally was exciting cross and then they fucking just kill him in the scene in dumb wear he starts talking to cab. He's like bucky book. You say that they saw and then and then because he says it he completely doesn't pay any attention to the guy wearing a fucking bomb on his jacket just stops. I understand you know. He's very emotional bulky. But it's just one of those things where i feel like if you have a soldier's mindset something like that is not going to take you out of the battle your gentleman's can be going everything you're not. He's not some name is not going to stop you from being the soldier that you are. I i'm not a soldier cycle. Be talking to my ass. But that's feel but it's bucky. It's interesting. I just realized that as much as bucky figures into captain america's arc at how he had changes and breaks a bit in this movie. We've never still seen them. Li li cement them as a as a as good friends like you would think he's a family member like a brother. They're just kind of wore buds and the only time barely seen them interact. There's actually one little scene in this movie where they actually interact like human beings and not like soldier and robot they the you never really get that so if you were watching this for the first time again. Kinda new to the series. Maybe a friends who are into the stop. Go with them opening weekend. Hey this'll be fun. I'll watch this marvel movie or not really going to get a sense of why kevin america basically destroys the avengers for this guy like four him again. You'd think he'd be like a brother..

Should The Simpsons Cast Be Replaced With AI Voice "Actors"?

"With most of the actors who voiced characters on the simpsons well into retirement age and the show seemingly having no intention of ever stopping a meeting. Cut wallover at wired. Uk wondered. could the actors all be replaced with a i rep locations. It makes a bit of sense off the bat. Near the proliferation of deepfakes circulating online aside major movie franchises have increasingly been patching together old footage of actors who have passed away like carrie fisher and the rise of skywalker and paul walker and furious. Seven or even just to fabricate a younger version of an actor who coincidentally had an entire body of work from their teenage years to use as reference points like robert. Downey junior in captain. America's civil war and will smith in jimmy man and with the simpsons. You only have to create the voice shortly. that's far easier especially with over three decades of content to pull from wired turn to tim. Mixed smithers canada-based. Ai researcher and media producer. Who builds a speech model that can be trained to mimic anyone's voice and notably has already recreated homer simpson for a few youtube videos including one where homer stands in for julia roberts in notting hill. Here's how he does it. Quoting wired mic smithers built generic. Ai model that can turn any text into audio speech in english when he wants to make a new voice he tunes the model further with two or three hours of new data of that particular person. Speaking along with a text transcript it focuses in on what makes a homer voice a homer voice and the different frequencies. He says after that it's a matter of asking the model to generate multiple takes. Each one will vary slightly and choosing the best one for your purposes and quotes bonnets. The performance is pretty flat as wired. Says it's quote as if he's reading out something that he doesn't really understand the meaning of and quotes which is pretty apt for homer still in the hut the performance. The show would probably be looking for there are other startups around. The world. Likes an antic in the uk and replica studios in australia. That are working to add. Some of that emotional resonance to a voice is using actual actors to help train them performing different lines over and over again with different emotional tones. Technically if you had someone recite all the existing phonemes in the english language or redescendu since that contained them all you should be able to then piece together any possible words. He wants but in reality. People's accents emotions can change things just slightly enough to make the process exceptionally challenging. Although absolutely doable and the time it takes to train the ai decreases over time with more data. Both semantic and replica studios who work primarily with video games where. There's a lot of intriguing possibilities with things like getting a character to say the player's name or whatever. The player wants them to or having a i basically work as a stand in until a real actor comes on board both of those companies say the actors they work with get paid anytime their voices are used in a game and this is a key element for me. Not just what rights doesn't actor have if they're only ever used to train in ai and not perform roll themselves so to speak but taking this back to the simpsons what rights do actors have whose voices are recreated to be their characters the screen actors guild affords actors certain bargaining rights over the use of their likeness. Which does explicitly extend to a performer's voice and while his protection is being rapidly expanded and reexamined as technology evolves you can impart think crispin glover for its origins after crispin glover declined to revive his role as george mic. Fly in back to the future. Part two they technically recast him. But they saddled the new actor. Geoffrey wiseman with prosthetics and employed classic stage tricks like having him upside down or wearing sunglasses to obscure his features as well as the use of some footage of glover himself from the first movie. Unless you were well aware that glover hadn't returned for the sequel. You probably wouldn't have had any idea that the george mcphee racine was any different from the first movie so glover sued the producers for using his likeness without his permission and for not paying him for the use of the footage. He shot for the first movie. But the legality of all of this now banned far beyond simply using a performance likeness and in many cases. Who is allowed to do what isn't so clear. There's copyright law which could give authority to the studio or whoever owns the rights but that counteracts with the right to publicity basically crispin glover thing and that's especially tenuous with cast as well known as the ones from the simpsons. You know a lot of people know these actors and if in a i replicated homer were out there. Advertising for some product people might assume dan castellaneta who voices homer is endorsing the product even if he had nothing to do with it so it's a tricky path to tread and personally. I'm a bit wary about the idea of ai. Replacing actors were any type of artists. Mean that's not to say that i don't want. Ai involved in arts. I think various tech can produce really rad art. I just don't think it can replace human-made arts and especially with something like the simpsons you know on the one hand. It's been on so long that it's the perfect fodder for ai. Replicated voices because then it could live on beyond the actors. And i guess honor them in some way but on the other hand. It's been so long that there are countless voice actors out there who can nail the characters voices perfectly and probably with more emotion.

How Does Captain America's Shield Work?

How Does Captain America's Shield Work?

"The official marvel comics database says that Captain America's shield is a metal disc that's approximately two point five feet in diameter and weighs twelve pounds. But Rhett Lane at wired magazine did some math and figured out that it would be more likely to weigh forty three point nine pounds despite the shield being made of a unique alloy combining vibrant. NEOM, which is. A fictional metal steel in an unknown third component. Elaine also figured out that the density of the shield would be somewhere between eight, thousand, seven, hundred, sixty, seven, and four, thousand, three, hundred, eighty, three kilograms per meter cubed. That is somewhere between the density of iron and titanium. Now in the Captain America Comics Story goes that Dr. Myron McLean was attempting to replicate Hercules Golden Mace fusing. Vibrant NEOM with an experimental iron alloy some say it was a steel alloy but even McLean didn't know what it was because he fell asleep when an unknown catalyst was introduced to the process he was never able to duplicate the process. So the government painted the disk and gave it to Captain America. But how would you forge such a thing? Especially since metallurgy is so complicated just The forging temperature alone depends on the materials carbon content. It's alloy composition maximum plasticity in the amount of reduction required. Was it heated by induction or by continuous fuel fired furnaces with material this unique you'd have to carefully control the heating process. Now, Ford ability is how easy or difficult material resists de formation and since Captain America's shield is indestructible, it would have to be a very Narrow forging temperature range meaning it could only be forged for a short time after heating with metallurgical factors like crystal structure chemical composition in grain-size at play the only way McLean could have diminished their influence would-be by adding alloying wants possibly compounds that easily dissolved with the metal. There are all types of elements that could have been introduced, but it's likely the captain America's shield was forged. Like a super alloy, this is how metallurgist refer to iron base nickel base in cobalt based alloys. Specifically, the ones that offer very high strength at high temperatures. These really high strength metals and iron based grades are the least difficult wants to work with. So that would narrow down Mcclain's experimental alloy to iron super-alloys are really difficult to forge because of their narrow temperature range you can't. Even use regular sizing presses in hammers on them because they will deform. They even wear down the tools designed for forging them pretty easily. They're also extremely expensive like ten times. The price of carbon steel sounds a lot like captain America's shield right. But how do we explain the shields ability to absorb kinetic energy supposedly from the vibe rhenium in the alloy usually materials absorb kinetic energy. Through other mechanisms like plastic or elastic deformation or dynamic fluid flow but cap shield doesn't seem to be an elastic metric material and it's not organic like polyurethane in the movies it actually seems to reflect vibration rather than absorb it like when thor hits with Mueller in that first avengers movie and the shockwave flattens a whole forest. Perhaps that was because the shield reached its absorption limit. Another thing that's tough to explain his how aerodynamic the shield is. If it really weighed forty three point, nine pounds, it would be difficult to throw even for a guy in peak physical condition like Steve Rogers the comics Tony Stark actually puts electromagnet under the shield to help control it in mid flight but captain America later ditched them because they upset the shields natural balance it seems like the soldier and the shield are made for each other.

So he's like I guess he's like ultraviolent Captain America. Unfamiliar with, peacemaker as a character. Is it strange that they're announcing a SPINOFF TV show before this movie comes out I mean, not really I mean they did the same thing with with the Batman thing and I, really think they're trying to build up.
