Dave Brat on the Grim Outlook for the US Economy

"Look, we got a lot of bad things happening in the country right now. Almost too many to count. But the one that's hitting all of us is the damage they've done to the economy. So we're going to have someone on to talk now about what the damage is and what we can expect. Former congressman Dave brat now economics professor. Dave, it's bad. It's ugly. I cry when I open my financial apps. And you're not going to tell me it's getting better, huh? No, there's no good news out on that horizon. We're not only destroying inflation and the price system and the interest rate, which is the price of money. It's the main price that we use to make all our other calculations, but we've been in a 50 year decline on the major variables that affect the real economy. Too much attention is paid to the stock market, which is the financialization of all this stuff right now. That's fine. You know, that affects your retirement and all that. But the real economy is what makes that possible. And if you just think through the main components that drive growth, capital investment business investment, small business is getting clobbered, human capital is one third of growth. That's education and just compare our high school graduates with the Chinese and Indian competitors and we're getting clobbered and then the main driver that causes economic growth. I did my PhD in economic growth. And, you know, if you had capital, you get diminishing returns, you remember in your horrified freshman macro class there. But there's only one variable that causes long run economic growth, and that's called total factor productivity. That's the creativity and the ideas and the entrepreneurship that's made America great. And if you neglect that one, that one, if you have it, it makes the whole curve go way higher.

Grand Theft Auto: Capitol City?

"Here's Cassidy Hutchinson saying that Donald Trump tried to create a new saga in the Grand Theft Auto series, otherwise known as Grand Theft Auto capital city. Play cut 70. Tony described him as being irate, the president said something to the effect of, I'm the effing president, take me up to the capitol now to which Bobby responded, sir, we have to go back to the west wing. The president reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mister engel grabbed his arm, he said, sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel. We're going back to the west wing. We're not going to the capitol. Mister Trump then used his free hand to lunge towards Bobby angle and this one mister ornata had recounted the story to me. He had motioned towards his clavicles. So that's a really serious accusation, right? I mean, you have a president of the United States that assaults the Secret Service agents. I mean, that's serious. I mean, wow. And by the way, who uses the word clavicles. Assaulted me in the clavicles, the first thing you say, wait, is that like super anatomically specific, by the way? Unless you're trained to say that she was trained in coached, I think, to say that. So okay, fine. She says this, super serious accusation. And I knew it as soon as I heard, it's just like, there's no way that's true. No way. I've been in the beast. You can't do that. And by the way, it's just not something I believe Donald Trump would do otherwise.

Caller Who Attended Jan. 6 Never Saw a Gun, Knife or Threat

"When I got to the capitol time and amongst the crowd and I was there for several hours, I never once saw a gun, I never once saw a knife, I never once saw anybody communicate in a threat either as someone in attendance or a capitol police officer. I never heard one person say, let's go burn it down. Nothing at all like that. So Charles, here's what gets me. Charles here's what gets me. About the AR-15s, because Cassidy Hutchinson, she says that she heard from somebody who heard from somebody that there were people armed with AR-15s all over the place. My question is, okay, well, why didn't the D.C. police department step in? If in fact, the D.C. police saw these weapons, that's a crime those kinds of weapons are illegal in Washington, D.C., so why didn't they intervene? Exactly. And I can tell you that the police department was around the capital, hundreds of them, and you're exactly right. If a cop stall, somebody walking with an AR-15, they're going to either arrest them, or they're going to take them out. And if the crowd was so heavily armed, why weren't any weapons confiscated, why weren't any police officers shot by the protesters? The only people that died that day were all Trump supporters. And the only person shot was actually by that. And they know it's a lot. And I don't think that this committee is what they're doing is designed to reveal the truth is just designed to do damage to Donald Trump. But here's my thing. All these little lies that they tell and they told over the last four years, they get away with it. There's never accountability. And my hope is that when the Republicans take control in November, that we not only launch investigative committees on January 6th, but also on November 3rd, 2020.

Kash Patel: Trump Had Offered National Guard to Pelosi Before Jan. 6

"Did or did not President Trump and or his administration Or for national guardsmen To Nancy Pelosi and her people before January 6th Unequivocally yes January 4th in the Oval Office I was there with the commander in chief the Secretary of Defense the chairman of joint chiefs of staff and the chief of staff for the president of the United States where the president unequivocally authorized up to 20,000 national guardsmen and women on January 4th immediately thereafter as chief of staff for the Department of Defense We executed that authorization and went to Nancy Pelosi and the capitol police and mayor Bowser and they all said no and mayor Bowser put it in writing in the United States Capitol police timeline that was just released shows that they declined and put it in writing Do we know why The Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi declined the president's offer For national guardsmen and how many did he offer The president offered up to 20,000 in the law works as you know mark is the president can authorize the National Guard or the second component of the laws there must be a request by a federal agency or a governor in this case mayor of D.C. And Nancy Pelosi controls the federal capital police and therefore they report it to her and why they did not want it I would leave it to the political experts I'm a national security guide but they seem to be worried about the optics just like they were worried about the optics of Lafayette square though there was the hypocrisy of their way And they also could have put up a no crime fence around the capitol They failed to do that And they failed that federal law enforcement there surrounding the capital such as the FBI and DHS They failed to do a great many things that would have been very simple to do

They have no clue what they're talking about. They really speak at a ignorance because folks like you, you're doing an amazing thing, truly heroic, beautiful stuff. But the reason you're on right now, Jim Hardin, with compass care, is because of what happened recently. You guys are in Buffalo. So tell the story of, first of all, what is compass care and what just happened to your facility in Buffalo, New York? Yeah, compass care has operations in three different abortion hub cities in New York. Because the abortion capital of the U.S. with more abortions occurring per CAPiTA basis than any other state in the union and we're expecting a significant influx of patients from conservative states now. Roe versus wade, reversal of his way, essentially, totally changed the abortion industry. And that means that patients are going to be coming to New York from the conservative states. So what happened in Buffalo was on June 7th, our facility was firebombed. By James revenge, they took responsibility for it in a communique. And they also had their signature scrawl in graffiti on the side of our facility that said, Jane was here. There's catastrophic damage to the facility. Kevin Roberts on Universal School Choice and More

"This is what is being told now as part of critical theory that the search for the truth and objectivity is somehow racist. Yeah, it is. I mean, we even see that in a couple of the museums and the nation's capital, which is just preposterous, right? So in order to lead up to that, because that's a decade long project to get rid of that agency, we have to make sure that the state level that there's universal school choice, period, full stop. Every single dollar that any government entity spends on education needs to follow the child. So in heritage, what we're doing to sort of write a headline is operating on these aspirational goals that lead us to greater self governance. And we're not afraid of these big objectives like eliminating the Department of Education or implementing school choice at every state. But we also have to play as a baseball fan, what I call small ball. We got to go hit some singles. Some doubles and lead up to that. So pro life education, we are deeply concerned about the threat of the Chinese Communist Party. They've infiltrated our institutions of higher education and what used to be called Confucius Institutes. And we're talking about what government organs of conversion on our campus. Completely. I mean, my moderate University of Texas is one of the biggest violators of common sense when it comes to keeping the CCP out of our institutions. Heritage is going to shine the light on all of that because there are a lot of members of Congress who are given campaign money by K street lobbyists, affiliated with the CCP to protect this. I'm just here to let you know that next year when there's likely a Republican majority, they darn well better govern as conservatives rather than capital are Republicans when it comes to these

Dinesh Answers a Listener Question About January 6th

"Time for our next question, take a listen. Hi dinesh. I have a question I have not heard at rest. Before about the so called January 6th insurrection. Could you disseminate the most extreme outcome? Often the capitol building is equated with democracy. If the rioters had fully taken over, disarmed all the security and taken every one hostage, what would have happened would all 50 states simply have surrendered and a mob would have taken control of the whole country or what could have happened. This is really a tremendous question and it's a tremendous question because it's strikes at the underlying inanity of the claims by many on the left. Democrats, the January 6th committee, that this was an attempt to take over of the government. And really what the question is doing is saying, well, let's see. Let's see. Would the government actually have been taken over, true, the capitol building is the place where Congress meets. It is the venue for you may say, conducting the legislative business of government. But nevertheless, let's say that there is a successful capital occupation. And by the way, you can make the point even clearer by ignoring January 6th, and imagining an occupation of the capital by the left or by the right. So let's say, for example, the Supreme Court issues a decision, striking down roe versus wade. And a bunch of left wing activists go into the capitol, they occupy the capital, they make everybody leave, they have, quote, taken over the capital. And the question is, have they taken over the U.S. government? Are they now in charge of the United States? Are they going to be appointing ambassadors, concluding treaties? Are they going to be running the United States and would the rest of the country go? Well, you know what? We've got some new rulers in America and they're not the congressmen we elected they're not the senators we elected. There's this, there's this bunch of goons that went in there and are basically now declaring themselves to be in charge. Well, that's ridiculous. That is absurd. If these guys occupied the capitol in relatively short order, there would be a police regiment that would surround the capitol and put on some bullhorns and say, guys, peacefully leave the building right now. And of course, upon leaving, they would be put into handcuffs and arrested. Or we are going to have S.W.A.T. teams storm the building, and if you offer forceful resistance, you are likely to be killed.

Is President Trump in Legal Jeopardy? Victoria Toensing Explains

"Of the January 6th show trial. I'm going to use that phrase show trial. Is the target stuff from a boss president Trump. That's not what you Victoria. How great is his legal jeopardy? Because I've seen a couple of different avenues of attack. First it was, he calls the insurrection. He incited the violence. That's why they've never showed the clip of him saying march peacefully and patriotically to the capital, which of course would negate that. Now, they seem to have switched tactics amid way and say that he's, he raised funds to investigate fraudulent election activities and then did nothing with it and just kept it for his own purposes or political campaigning and they're going to try and use some kind of financial charge. Whatever it is, is he in legal jeopardy? I can't see any basis or legal jeopardy. The latest is what you had at Adam Schiff talking about at the beginning of the hour. Oh, the alternative slate. Yes, let's unpack this. The electors. The alternative electric slate, which was done by the Democrats in 1960, by the way, and nobody went after them criminally. What would the charge even be? Well, that's why Dana bash is such a suck up. Reporter, she didn't report, please report her. Oh, okay. Please. Suck up. It would be a conspiracy to defraud the United States government of faithful electors. That's what it would be. To fraud the United States. But I don't know, but it's got to be something that's going to be something illegal about that. And when it was done in 1960, what is the difference between having a slate of electors, and here's what was in the documents that said, if Trump wins, legal arguments. I mean, language to that effect were in there. It wasn't like we are the other elections. It wasn't we're going to make up the results. No. Only if he wins in court decisions because there's a certain deadline by which electors have to be chosen. So if they weren't

"So there was that but the blue is also a stronger decore-ative. I think they were a little bit deeper up front if I remember correctly. I mean they didn't have anyone with the power of Ovechkin but they were a little deeper but again I think that's the way if the cap was off the Bruins so let's get to predictions. Let's get to predictions. Cuz before we started this, I remember in the weeks leading up to this cuz I am going to give a prediction that I think many people might be surprised at and the way up to this on both podcasts I have said how I would rather play the Penguins and it was a really the only reason was because the capitals were super physical in. You're going to have guys were hurt and I worry about how the Bruins move on to round two months with guys who are super banged up. But again my apologies physical matter what but when you really look at things, Actually, I'll let you give your prediction first. I'll let you to picture. Yeah, I want to go bowl. I'm just a bruise going five. Okay, I think you just look at the matchups. The fact that one seemed like both teams are turning in different directions terms of the injury injury bug mean losing a guy like Collison who's one of the more mobile guys you have on defense? Oh she who's been great? Especially on the PowerPlay. He's been dying of them in the bumper especially when playing against the Bruins. So, you lose those two guys, you also have a whole bunch of guys that are going to be banged up, right? Like I wouldn't be surprised if especially, in the first couple of games of birth is making emphasis on, you know, finishing there checks against, you know, Ovechkin Wilson. So, that's his day-to-day. Yeah. Backstrom just, coming off a little body injury. Kuznetsov is coming off of covid-19 all so I don't really know how he's going to look. Yeah, you look at these first couple of games, you got a pretty good opportunity to build up, build a pretty solidly and make your, you know, your presence felt physically. So yep. It just the way the training differently, you know, injury-wise and again like I can't see the Bruins unless again the capitals knock out four or five guys, I can't see them winning every single game 5466 for, you know, I can't see that situation especially considering that you just look at the matchups..

"I think, when you really look at it with the, with the big slow defense with VTEC vanicek, which will get you in a bit in Net, who's been really not amazing against the birth here. Very, he's not he's not he's not that great. He's not a starter and and I just think this isn't a serious. I think it's a series where they score a lot of points actually wage. Again, high-scoring series I think on the Bruins end of things it's going to really I think the series really hinges on the Bruins ability to keep the puck out of their own net. Cuz I mean I don't know how you don't score three to four goals, the game in the series. I, you know, I, I agree with you. I think it's definitely a serious. You look at just the, I'm sure as this podcast goes on, we're going to go into our predictions would have you, but the more you can look at this matchup. Sure. It's dominated by Ross, how physical the Caps, I, you gotta watch over tunnels and all valid concerns right there was easier. Things that can change the course of a series if a guy gets knocked out, but, you know, you look at one of the underlying numbers with people. Sometimes don't want to point out cuz you look at underlying numbers, the Bruins should have smoked the, the blues going into that Series, right? So there's only so much you can go draw from that. You just look at the fuel matchups, wise wage, a lot of them really don't Savor. The the Capitals in this series. Like you look at Bergeron, that's most likely he's going to be matched up against the old vets, ovechkin's lines Ovechkin, HughesNet sauce. And Wilson and threw his leg up. There hasn't been playing up there but I think I think it's been mantha Backstrom. And oh she I want to say is so cool. I'll see that will change. Now with with a few of those guys out of the line of socially. But you look at Bergeron's primarily matched up against Ovechkin and through seven games, they vote scored the Ovechkin lines. See he's pretty good. So no, no. It's normally they, they generating chances are shutting down the line, but let's say It's a situation where at the very least Aboriginal and is shutting down the electrical. Maybe, let's just say for sake of it, over a series only scores one or two even-strength goals, obviously want a lot more. But hey, the good thing about this theme, you also have a 1:00 be line that is all capable of scoring goals and bunches, right? I mean, we'll see kind of how the Capitals handle that matchup of whether it's you know, you're kind of damned-if-you-do damned-if-you-don't, right? Like who do you want to put like that that Dowd log? Against and see how they match up. But you you look at if the Bergeron's able to at least stop Ovechkin, you've got crazy Hall and Smith who have outscored teams thirteen to one together which has not that's crazy over such a small sample size. Especially and then, I mean, one of, I think the key thing is going to be that third line of coil, Richard Bach, chorale e, like that's a team, that's one. That's a line. That's one equipped to handle the capitals, another big physical team. You don't really know what their matchups going to be, is it going to be allies Eller? And the third life is going to be a 4th Line, so you can just look at the overall matchups. And yeah, the as you said, the Bruins have generated tons and tons of chances against them. It's not just the fact that the goal-tending is not great. I mean whether it's Advantage, check or if Sampson. Comes.

Richard Bach Wilson Smith Ross Ovechkin 4th Line mantha Backstrom Hall Bergeron three thirteen chorale e seven games Sampson two third line Capitals tons third life four goals

Because i know the level of preparation that you've invested so let's not give out any secrets. Let's just nothing. It's going to be tough to be spectacular given these days. But i'm working on a few things that i trying to put it all together. Drake's pull it all together. Have you got tino when you've got an assembled team. Yeah my my daughter-in-law she's my team. I can't imagine it was positive for really can't it didn't sound very good. Didn't it was clearly a rip off of james. Docu sings bugging. Raewyn bugging ray. Everybody's wondering what's bugging. Rapes aspirin rigs anything. You can find your questions to us on twitter at rain. Rigs website rain rigs dot com from. Greg should the anaheim ducks caller trevor. Zebras now greg is seen. Tim stood sla in cali of playing struggling. And he's wondering. The ducks are doing the right thing by being patient and leaving him in san diego with the goal the i guess the only negative i can think of is that you call a really fine prospect up to a team that can score and then he doesn't score and he starts to lose his own confidence and ability to make a play and so he doesn't even want to try to make a play after a while that would be the only negative. I look skill wise. I think trevor zegers is clearly ready to play anaheim's It's a little bit of a mess. I mean they. They don't generate much ziegler sousa generator. Do you think it's possible to convert. Jake tannin into a defenseman. Because he's a great skater and he has good size. No look like i don't there were times. I really wonder seriously. It's a curious question right but somebody's curious about it to be fair because it is. That's that's my point is it. There's nothing wrong. I'll ever. I don't think people quite understand how good the nhl aids like. They're just sometimes. I think you don't quite understand that. Here's a. j. tannin's twenty four. He's been playing hockey for probably eighteen or nineteen years. He's played forward the whole time. You can't just become a defenseman. He doesn't ski backwards. He doesn't know how to read a play. He would know how to defend like you could say yeah. We could teach 'em all that. How long zach annotate. Look people are out of rope for virtanen in vancouver. I would say he just can't seem to get a foothold here. To one another vancouver questioners giggling away. You wanna ask it. I could tell while. I hesitate only because we talked about francesco. Akwa leany earlier right in the pod And the support. That he threw at travis green and jim benning all right. Well i'm gonna some or. And we're going to spend some time talking about the national hockey league and we've got scott term hearts right around the corner some interesting stuff there. Let's go back to the beginning of the week. Chris auto playing the toronto maple leafs. And i'm surprised to learn that there wasn't a lot of activity going into the third period now in fairness to the ottawa senators. The toronto maple leafs had that game in hand. Even though nick wall scores late in the second period. So i guess the gambling types out. There had zero confidence that ottawa was gonna pull up combat. No not at all. I mean our social media guys after you know each period when when the live odds change posted and that was the same thing they did at the end of the second period of that game like elo. if you wanna get ottawa. Now you know they're nineteen to one You know ha ha ha but turns out yeah would have been a great bet now. We had zero people that i'm aware of and take that. I think if you made that bet you'd be touting it on social media so i have not seen anyone commenced to commit to claim claim the price Of being of being a great prognosticator. But you know that one was interesting from that point of view but also You know a lot of people would have had toronto in their parlays tickets so that was a an unbelievable outcome for the sports sprouted. Wanna come back so we talk about. You know for them to come back from the floor. Golsen first time in franchise history and all that but from a sports betting perspective yet it absolutely s shook the landscape for a night as well chris. "What's what's the nhl future for. Mike back and now. I think me like even now like running practices and i love being on the ice. I love being on a bench. You know if i if hockey is is a is a part of my future moving forward. It's definitely coaching. I just managing at this level. I think it's a it's a difficult job. There's no doubt. But i just for me. The game the spent the most special thing about the game from when i was nine years old till till today actually is is all about the relationships. You know for me. It's all about those relationships and I just feel like when you're done playing. Coaching gives you the next best opportunity to just continue with those relationships and try and get you know somebody be the best version themselves in it's It's a lot of fun. i enjoy the ride. You're a good man for joining us here on the podcast today it. Thanks guys great to be with you all the best to you. Michael thank you. Thanks ray man ray. I'm thinking as mike pack is talking. Vote returning to winnipeg feel like it was in mid march. That's the game that he's talking about. Because that was the rematch. After that february. Hit the against the winnipeg jets and the head. Of course pat gone on salani. But you know you have to remember those days where he's right. I mean there's no twitter. There's no social media. I mean you're tuned in to what's going on you arrive in the city on the road and what you throw the radio on and listen to what the radio guys talking about and more importantly you're tuning in from the rock and the music and getting bumped up. Nobody had nobody had their own music. I mean eventually we started bringing around. You know the big the big players and someone would. Somebody would be in charge of making desks course. You could make musically. And like when i was with the rangers brian leetch was in charge of all of that. He would make all the music in the room. And and so. If you didn't like the playlist you'd you know the guys would be on lichi a little bit a little bit of a sidetrack so i get there and there's this one song it's on. A few tapes are a few desks. And i'm like who is that need. It would always play like at some point in the pre-game like early in the pre game and it was berry white..

"Their strengths are all right. Mike pekka joining us on the rain. Drake's podcast mike. You mention winning a selke trophy. Will you want two of them as a player in the hockey league and i sorting through some history earlier this month and i came across. I guess what february ninth nine hundred ninety five and that was the packet hit on komo. Salani of the winnipeg jets mike packets from the vancouver canucks. Twenty six years ago is a long time that i watched that hit again this morning. Probably a half dozen times on youtube. And you and i gotta jokes away from it. But what do you recall of that hit. The aftermath has been well documented. And how many games would you be suspended by. George farrell's similar hit in today's nhl. Well so it would be a i so there's no repeat offenders attached tag attached to it but it is the premier goalscorer in the national hockey league. So if it was today in that happened. i'm guessing i'd probably start with a six or seven game suspension You know. But i think if if i was to go if the rules back then like they were now. I don't think there's a contract that could assign. It would have been big enough to prevent me from losing money from suspensions michael you but the thing is like so even after that i mean it's crazy when you think of concussion protocol and things that i remember Reading old articles i have. This really needs scrapbook. That might wife made me for a birthday. One time it's it's really amazing and just reading through some articles from My rookie year. And after that in the newspaper i think it was. I think winnipeg was going to saint. Louis is either that. Because i know when lanny got in the locker room after the head he thought he was in saint louis so he was saying. Oh we're in saint louis but the most amazing thing is. He played their next game. Tonight's later you know so it's just it's it's incredible how the old concussion thing is about.

Right and it's just one more thing is this team just can't seem to get out of its way and i think the expectation the league's perspective when they brought them ruble family onboard a wealthy family by published net worth two billion dollars with a b. I i'm sure the national hockey league commissioners office thought. Let's get these people in you know. We'll help how we'll have to shepherd them through a process because you don't just get the keys to an nhl franchise and ronald flawlessly so. They've made their share of mistakes as been detailed in this in this report but is that your takeaways similar to mind that you read it and you'd like to go. Well that shouldn't happen. That can happen. I can't believe that happen. But in the case in the arizona coyotes. You're sitting there reading and going. Yeah that makes sense. I understand that this would happen there. "Go down the list there. You know the particular line in montreal with the knicks zucchini. Josh anderson started. Gangbusters is a shoddy goaltending. Maybe you can make that case with three of the seven teams in canada or is it just a combination of stuff i mean. What are you seeing this while. I think it's probably a combination of a lot of things so vancouver's started and for whatever reason their game just fell apart and the goaltending wasn't great but that wasn't really the problem. I mean they were given up buckets of goals they went. He played montreal Five times and it was like practice for montreal. They were scoring at will auto all went through that stretch. They were giving up five goals. a game. awwa has yeah. I think goals against average is over four. Yeah so whoever's playing them right all those goal stay in the northern division and it's four minimum again like just like it's crazy. How many goals. They've given up so Two days ago six five winnipeg edmonton six five toronto and ottawa or ottawa. So you look into leading scores. Mcdavid got thirty dry got twenty six martyrs twenty three right. So they're they're all sitting rate at the very top seven of the top scores from the north six of the top seventy and scores from the north and the six top goalscorers brock. There's got eleven goals already you know in a rebound season for him so goaltending. Yeah defensive play. That's kind of flopped. All over the place and al lots of the other divisions have these two one one. Nothing games quite frequently. There's been very few in the north. And i liked the goal so i'm okay with it but it is pretty crazy to watch for sure it is and i thought paul maurice going into that game against the owners really laid it. Oh well saying that you know. The goalies hated the defense. Probably doesn't love it a whole bunch. Kate the coaches managers hated the only people out. There that love it or the floors right. Swap goes off All day long. Because that's candy. I mean you know what. That's about playing in the eighties. Nothing was funnier than than hearing the coach. Say we can't treat chances with them. Why not i yes. We the only team that we would not ever think that with really was pittsburgh right. You know what i remember. One night we lost in overtime and We're on the boston. I was with the islanders in there. You know and we're talking man. We'll played them. We had as many chances them. Glenn healy said something to the effect when we get a three on two or three on one it's us when they get one geogra- and francis and mullen and you know lem you and it's not the same thing guys. We can't do this. Thanks for the confidence heels..

I don't know if we would have had a grand plan in normal times like had. Would we have gone out for dinner or anything like that i. I don't know if we would have. We would have done something a little special but we went for a hike just told the kids will be back in ninety minutes and so we went in went for a hike. The trails are we live in a beautiful place so we went up just kind of hung walked around up in the trails and spent a little time. Oh i man. I think i was saving this for later but we are getting a dog long. Yes now small dog but you know twenty pounds. I think our soul but were not one of your tiny machines but caputo. It's the name of the dog designer dog so it's across. Jeez i put you took that you really put that together quickly. I'm impressed yes so Now we're we're Iding march seventh. We we make our final selection of the litter and now we're names and good luck with that. That's that's hard. It's hard because they're all wonderful right. You wanna take all and then you've got zero down while we can look on the website. There's like six or seven of them and you can get periodic updates. And i think we zeroed in on one but we'll see the name is becoming a little bit of an issue here. So we're we're in a couple of different camps on this Riley lights one recites three cami likes about to. She wants one that you can short down like well. Why don't we just pick a short name. Why did you gotta have the name frederick. And name them fred. Like why are you gotta do that. So we're we're we're getting close on the name to. What was steve martin. Movie the joy out of the jerk. I brought that up to the kids the other day. They thought it was awesome. Steve's steve martin's dog we should head and so they they didn't think that was going to be the name. But i said see and mom could shorten the name to by the way. Rob gray is Chimed in your christopher mcdonnell. That's shooter mcgavin is seen as exactly listening. He doesn't just hit the buttons. He listens to what we talk. See that that surprises me because a lot of times when we are zoom meetings. I'm not sure if he's listening or not. He's just sitting over there. What do you think he listens now. I'll give them balance of the boat so one thing that you're not going to like about having a dog well. There's there's a few things but the good far outweighs the bad trust me. When i tell ya. I mean the masses and all of that i mean the trading that you get over that in time so. The dog takes squirt on the floor. Big deal you clean it up when you move on tiny. We've finally trained her out of it but we've got a shitsu. Fritz who's fourteen years old tiny follows fritz.

"But I kept thinking like I have to make a pilgrimage back to this bookstore to find these things and then finally when colleen and I were in Lansing doing our state capitals look for that bookstore and it was gone and I was really kind of heartbroken because I had you know in my mind made it into this big thing one day I'll come back with money and able to like it all the duck sandwiches that I was missing and all the shadows and. Ole Conan and all that kind of cool stuff. That's what I got. Two things for you won. Over by Harrisburg there is a big bookstore called the cupboard maker books and I'm the. And one Gina's favorites they are also a cat rescue sanctuary. and. They have so many old books and I did find some doc savage along with Mack Bolan and destroyer and. I've never seen anywhere else. So if you're ever heading the Harrisburg that cupboard maker books check that out Harrisburg Ohio Harrisburg Pennsylvania Yeah. Pennsylvania. Okay. An actually I. I'm on my mind kind of boggles because I actually worked there for like a quarter when I was with peat Marwick back in the let's see I. Guess it would have been mid eighties and explored that city a lot and I don't remember this place. So what if? It's close to Harrisburg it's not in Harrisburg okay. Yeah thank you though because we I'm always looking for those recommendations of this is driving all the way to Harrisburg for that maybe not. But if we're all the way to Boston. Or any number of things on the east coast stopping by in Harrisburg it's got one of the prettiest state capitals. I think we talked about this before. Colleen I've been all over the place all over the United States because we had the excuse of we wanna see all the state capitals. Retain the store you know we we go into bar hard for our honeymoon. We really wanted to do a little bit of silly romance like stop a Niagara Falls and and do that thing, but we really love hiking and we thought bar. Harbor was one of national parks we had never been into we made a big drive to their back On the way we stopped in Montpellier, which is the smallest of the state capitals and happened to be like right along the road we were along, but we pump out of the car and it's Picture perfect. Beautiful. It's got the big gardens leading up at the gold dome and like everything is just an we standing there loving the site we said you know this is kind of where every state does it up. It puts his best forward with its capital who should go to all of these. So we were married like maybe three days. We have been this throughway away idea became such a perfect excuse for all the United States. We've been the forty out of fifty. We've been to every single state capital in contiguous United States. We haven't been to Alaska Hawaii, but every single one including like the North Dakota that everybody's interests everybody's last state because there's no reason to go there except to say, I've been to all the states. Sorry. North Dakota people. But you know what I mean. It really has been such a wonderful excuse and Harrisburg to get all the way back to that it really it has an old capital in new capital and they both have very cool dome and all kinds of artwork within and it just was. When you're going along and in a number of them are quite utilitarian. Chambers and. All that of stuff when it's working place, but some of them are very distinctive to their state..

"I read a fantastic series of books over the course of Probab- thirty to twenty years ago called Mala Dicta. There was a guy that was a scholarly, her pursuing vulgarity that he collected all the different you know. Religious and sexual and FECAL, and all the different kinds of swearing in all the variations on it and would trace out. So where was this I wrestled first written appearance whereas I what languages from and? It's fascinating. Actually you know there's no part of language that people are more creative about. Like tat and to to see the origins of a lot of things that we say or to find out the in different cultures like I. Don't know when we. To See word is much harsher in here than in England s enough one that just kind of throw up there much more easily in German I've always known nist can like here. He when you say you dog you or something like that. It's kind of okay. In Germany when you compare people to animals, it's really really insulting when you say you have A. There's like. Even, have things like when you say Holzmann meeting stop your mouth close your mouth. That's kind of okay. You say halts model shut your snout that's really a whole new level of insult. or S versus Frison by. Engine out to eat like a human versus eat like animal and that just that insulting people for acting like an animal in German. Takes away their humanity means that it really are just a beast not a thinking person. There's all kinds of interesting stuff tied up there. Well, that's why the nerd culture kind of adopted. Battle Star. GALACTICA FRAC. Exactly where we're now, we're still creating things because. All of media is kind of backwards in terms of how quickly it adopts. Swearing and so you can still hear no Steve Miller Songs Pink Floyd. Song, they still bleep out a swear word that you know you've heard it a million times by now and yet they're just not allowed to say it because it's going to be fine and that kind of stuff in any. It to see those things like you said, we're shows of head, find a work around that. It really want to have that expletive that really shows my ship is getting shut out of the office. Classification. At least in our country of what might be soft swear words that have started up more and more on TV like damn. I've heard it on many shows especially like the CW shows I've heard multiple times exact. Harder swear words. So it changed because heck when we were younger, there was none of that. In fact there there's a show on the other day I an old episode of Jag from the Ninety S, and there is a smoking on it. I'm like, wow, that's the nineties and he was still smoking on TV you don't get that too often anymore that's really true this. Is, so a quick so I really was my parents are are very good clean, decent American people I didn't grow up swearing in front of them ever. You know what I mean. It wasn't that they were harsh about it was a kind of like out of respect they didn't use it. So I didn't use it in front of them. Well, I went away to college. And it became much more part of your everyday. Work choice sounds much easier to swear the drunk. You are. Maybe that's too I came home for Christmas dinner like my first my first..
