Sen. Mike Lee: Does RFMA Affect People Like Cake Bakers?

"It What if you're a baker and you don't want to bake a cake for a certain type of wedding ceremony Are they protected Well this doesn't deal typically arises under state and local law not federal law So the cape baker example probably doesn't get directly implicated by this here because I'm not aware of any federal law Well they just federalized Yeah to the extent that they apply that to a federal law then the cake baker the either if it's a nonprofit or if it's a small business and the small business person doesn't want to do that And yeah potentially they could be in violation of one or more federal laws If that's implicated It's more likely to come up in the nonprofit context but in theory could come up with some small business examples And so as a result of all this they're saying that the religious freedom protection they offered was adequate But it's really not Because they provided some protection for churches synagogues and mosques themselves And then they had this other section section 7 a of the bill Says that nothing in this act shall be construed to deny or alter or revoke any status But that was never the problem Mark Our argument was never that the bill revoked it It was that it would leave intact an existing problem exacerbated by this bill

Bill Federer Shares the Story of Squanto

"One of the stories that we have to include is squanto. And if I have a few minutes, I'd be happy to share that. Continue. So the pilgrims were religious, but there were other groups that weren't and they were pirates. So Spain had a monopoly on the new world for at least a century, and they had gold from Inca Peru and portobello Panama and they take it to Cuba and ship it and these Dutch and French and English pirates would raid the gold, but they would also sail up the coast of North America. Lure unsuspecting Indians on board, lock them below deck, take them over to malaga, Spain and sell them into slavery. So one of the Indians that was captured was squanto and the story is he was purchased by some monks in Spain who gave him his freedom. He hitchhikes his way across Europe, gets to England. He's there for a dozen years working, learning the language and the family finds some business that takes him to Newfoundland, right? A fishing type outfit. And then he gets the boat to drop him off at Plymouth, Massachusetts, only to find his whole tribe is dead. They were wiped out by a plague, William Bradford writes that three years earlier, a French ship was shipwrecked off the case, the coast of Cape Cod. Sailors got ashore, Indians never left watching them and bogging them, till they got the advantage killed them all, but three or four maybe sport with them worse than slaves. Anyway, one of those French men must have had an illness and the Indians didn't have immunity and it wipes out the tribe. So sort of in a reverse sense had squanto not been captured in kidnapped. He most certainly would have died. But squanto is living with the neighboring wampanoag tribe and then that fall is when the pilgrims show up. Half of the pilgrims die the first winner. They wouldn't have survived another year. Spring of 1621, walking into their camp is squanto. And you can just picture the conversation. I mean, he's in his loincloth and he goes up and he goes, oh yeah, you guys from London, I used to live there. You know, oh yeah, the pump down on war street or St. Paul's chapel. He goes, oh, yeah, yeah, I know that place. And then he says, oh, this place here, I grew up here. I know this place like the back of my hand over that hill is a spring. And William Bradford says he taught him how to catch fish. He said, you know, that they weren't successful, but he says, don't use salmon. They spawn this river. It's going to be packed. And then he taught him how to plant corn. They said, we tried it. He goes, no, you got to dig a hole, put some fish in, then put the kernel of corn and cover it up. The fish decompose fertilizes the soil. You have a nice harvest. Bottom how to take the corn and put it in a pot, shake it and make popcorn, right? And then he taught him how to go down to the riverbank squeegee in the mud and catch eels and clams and lobsters and then how to catch beaver skins. It took 40 years worth of beaver skins to pay off their debt for the boat ride,

"Then the lieutenant colonel in the National Guard does the same thing. And people on the bus are starting to freak out. They don't know what's going on. So anyway, long story short, the bus finally gets to its destination. And by the way, he's Facebook. All of this is on Facebook Live. The lieutenant colonel is Facebook Live. It just keeps getting worse. Is that how you say Facebook Live? Yeah, no, you did good. You did good. Thank you. So anyway, they get to the, this nice little hotel, and is it foul mouth or foul mouth? It's falmouth. Whatever. The admiralty inn and sweets. It's a very nice looking hotel. They have a little swimming pool in the middle and the courtyard. And I don't know, I guess they give them a free breakfast, I don't know. No, that's only at the Hampton inn. So anyway, they pull in and then the guy starts he jumps out and he starts banging on the door of the bus. And he says, you have to let me in. Let me in. And the bus break down the door. The bus driver's freaking out. And the guy said, I know you have illegal aliens on the bus. And this is all in the dark of night. Can you imagine Michael Vaughan is the driver? He is the owner of Mike's limousine, it is a bus company. They don't work trying to get a bus to go to Nashville next week. A party bus. A party bus. But I digress. So anyway, Hoffman thought that the bus was full of illegals. And he wouldn't, he wouldn't give up. So he would not leave, and mister Vaughn says he harassed us to death. This is the Cape Cod times story. Everybody was scared to death and I have to imagine show. And all of this is being recorded live on Facebook.

Rich White Liberals Were Triggered About Having Brown Neighbors

"Meanwhile, the situation in Martha's Vineyard, ladies and gentlemen, the great invasion of 2022, will certainly go down in the annals of American history as one of the most traumatic moments in the nation. When rich white liberals were confronted with the fact that they might have brown neighbors. It is, I know people were triggered. It was an incredibly traumatic moment for the people there in Martha's Vineyard with the 50 illegal aliens showed up looking for food and shelter. And by the way, to our knowledge, Barack Hussein Obama, who has that beautiful multi-million dollar ten bedroom mansion right there in Martha's Vineyard, did not offer a single brown person refuge in his mansion. Neither did Oprah. Now I don't know what to make of all of that, but that's just the reality of the situation. Regardless, the rich white liberals were so aggrieved that they summoned the military to come in and immediately repel the invading horde of illegals. And now they are residing at joint base Cape Cod. But the fallout from all of this continues.

Martha's Vineyard Couldn't Last Beyond 44 Hours With Illegal Migrants

"44 hours. That's as long as the community of Martha's Vineyard would put up with having illegals in their area. Wow, I'll bet you the people of McAllen, Texas, would love to have a 44 hour limit on the arrival of illegals into their community. I'll bet you all the people that live in border towns in Arizona and Texas would be grateful for a 44 hour limit. You know what happened, right? With the 50 illegals that governor desantis flew to Martha's Vineyard, they put up with those 50 illegals for 44 hours before they kicked them out. Before they deported them, they shipped them out to a military facility at Cape Cod.

Professor Walter Hooper on C.S. Lewis' Take on Gender

"For Walter hooper. It's in all of his fiction. This idea of embodying nobility embodying vulgarity and baseness that these things are not what we say they are. They're innate qualities that God has created a universe with these inequalities. Of course, the idea of maleness and femaleness is being challenged today as though anyone can be anything as though there isn't even such a thing as maleness. But the way Lewis portrays kings and queens that they're very different in his world. Maybe you can talk a bit about gender or that kind of thing in his books because it seems to be so strong and it's maybe why some people don't want to read him these days. Well, they may not, but they're enough who do. But I think it was natural that he called the king of the beast. The king named the one who rules Narnia after the king of the beasts, Lion. You can't have a platypus, you know? But that's the funny thing is we know that. Most people would know that, but then you have to say, well, then, well, why? And it's just because it's something innate that we know. Platypus, that's very good. That's a great contrast. But he also was very, very fond of mice. He really loved the beautiful little quadruplet quadruplets. He said that in few may remember that scene in that idios strength where after he finished ransom had finished his tea, the crumbs fell on the floor, the cape crumbs, he blew a little whistle and these mice came soon. He said we want to get rid of the crumbs. The mice need food. Why not do that?

Martha's Vineyard Deports the Illegals to Cape Cod

"In my fingers, grace baker just had to be the breaking news alert. It appears that Martha's Vineyard is now deporting the illegals. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, a breaking news from Martha's Vineyard. The illegal aliens, and by the way, if you listen to the mainstream media coverage, as I was doing, as I was driving back across the states of Alabama and Mississippi, if you believe the mainstream media coverage, I just thought there were idle hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens that have been dumped in Martha's Vineyard. Which, by the way, is not necessarily a bad thing, in my estimation. But it turned out to be only about 50 people that were that were sent there to Martha's Vineyard and the rich white liberals got triggered. Now, I want to try to approach this from the mindset of the rich white liberal who lives in Martha's Vineyard. Now these are the people that are out there telling all the rest of us that we are not diverse enough, we're not tolerant enough, we're not, we're not our skin shade is not dark enough. Trying to find a nice way to say it. That's why I was hemming and hawing. All the while, these people are lily white liberals. I mean, these people, the only blacks, the only people of color on Martha's Vineyard, besides Barack Hussein Obama and his wife, misses Michelle Obama. Would be the help.

"Don't have to emigrate. They don't have to leave that country in order to make a living because immigration is still a problem in their markets outside Cape Verde that encyclopedia. Sure. Anything else we want to talk about on the itinerary before. Let's go back, let's go back to nature. So in my capital city, which is port English, from there, I would suggest at least doing one island tour because it takes to some very beautiful, beautiful beaches, places that are unreal. You're going to see another goat cheese factory. And on the island tour you will also visit a beach which is famous for its sharks, but these are peaceful sharks. And then from there, you come back to the city. And that if you can, I would also recommend if you have the time to book a tour with the foundation biodiversity, they will take you to a certain nesting and or to a bird watching tour, which are very interesting. They are very interesting. It's also a great way to support the local community because they're often working with voluntary and it shows that you give value to the natural landscape of this island because there are plans to build big hotels on this island on the island of Mayo island by its only if the community sees that sustainable tourism pays off that they can resist another big large hotel being built on their grounds. Okay. Anything else we want to do or shall we start wrapping this up? No, from there, we can go back to Praia, where we have the international airport and go back home. Excellent. If you don't get stuck, if you don't get stuck. So as we go to ramp this up, you were standing in the prettiest spot in Cape Verde. Where are you standing at? What are you looking at? I think it's really the beach bar in Portugal. Okay. Harbor and we're watching at Portugal, the colorful house runs, seeing the fort of the city, watching the color of the sea, which is deep, saturated to a quad color, seeing the kids playing football, the straight ups running over the beach, one of those tradeoffs from Mario is actually I adopted one of them. She's called catch up because my culture, I probably would make sense, catch up from Mario island. That's probably one of the most beautiful places. It's the tranquility that you have and still watching out of the sea watching watching on the sea. We have a sense of longing of seeing what's next. I think it's one of the most beautiful places. That's when it comes to the beach sides, the mountain islands are totally different again. There I would say Santa is absolutely a must if you love mountains and if you love hiking. Excellent. And one thing that makes you laugh and say only in Cape Verde. Oh, there are many episodes. There are many episodes where oh, it's not possible. Yeah, I think the 12 hours delay of the ferry that you have to stay in the harbor, you can not leave the harbor of praya and you have to wait on the dock and I was planning with my dog catch up at that time. You have to stay on the dog for 12 hours. Because the fire we got delayed and is now not traveling for whatever reason. That's it. But that's very we need to go with the flower and I think it's a great lesson that you learned there that no matter what it's going to be fine somehow it's going to work out as long as you have the time and it really teaches you again how relative time is and how we in the west often see time as such a pressing matter and over there you get taught just sit there relax and enjoy it's going to be fine anyways. Excellent. And if you had to summarize Cape Verde in just three words what three words would you use? Colorful, loving, unexpected, unexpected excellent. Our guest again has been paulina from paulina on the road dot com and paulina, we want to send people to your best post on Cape Verde. Are we sending them to that or are we sending them to your guidebook? So I finished my travel guide during the lockdown and it's online. But then, of course, also on the page itself, I have many articles about every island about hiking about beaches about wintertime, about food, all over this coverage as well. Excellent. "Hotels. No, and hopefully it will remain that way for a long time, really. They are in my trying to develop an alternative, more sustainable beach tourism. I hope they will have, they will succeed with that because the beaches of Mayo are stunning. There are absolutely gorgeous unspoiled constructions that it's also a place where many turtles come to nest. It's a bird observation island. So you have an association with my biodiversity that, if I'm remembering well, that are doing a fabulous job in order to preserve the species that are coming to Maya and that are also educating the people on the island about turtles and that are also organizing turtle nesting tours. Because in the past, eating turtle was something very common in all capabilities and so they are doing a type of education in the sense of if we preserve the turtles, it can be interesting for the tourists to see that. And then the tourists spent eventually some money and that's how we have more of the turtles that if we just eat them. So in that sense, they're doing a very important work. So yeah, and so I got stuck in Mario for 9 months. And if you ask people, what is there to do? And there's nothing, actually. But that's actually, that's the best stuff. Really just there's no bucket list that you need to take off. There's no places you need to go. You can just be. You can sit easily with your cabinet on the beach, knowing that you have nothing to do. I'm sitting on the beach with my what? What is a company? It's the drink that is very popular in Brazil. They do it with kasha. Some lines and water. Is that the correct way to say it? I have no idea. Don't ask me about Portuguese. We had a Brazilian exchange student who lived with us for two years and I swear I picked up no Portuguese at all. I don't have an airport. Okay, the caipirinha is a very appropriate drink in Brazil and they also prepare it a lot in Cabo Verde just that it replaced the casha, which is sugarcane alcohol. They replace it with grok, which is sugarcane alcohol made in a couple of batteries. You sit in Maya in Puerto ingles on the beach, Javier caipirinha, and there's nothing that you need to do. And you have a tranquil mind a quiet mind that you don't need to go anywhere, and there's nothing you're going to miss. There's no fog mode because there's nothing going on. And you can just watch the sea for hours. That's what I love so much about life. Now, if you could just go and swim, then go back, have a lot of cabbage, go to one of the small restaurants. You have, how many were saying? Maybe half a dozen small restaurants, they are mostly locally owned, so go and spend your money there. They will be so grateful because not many tourists come to Mario either. When I'm in one of the local restaurants, what am I ordering? What's the signature dish of Maya or of Cape Verde? In kerberos, which is very nice. That's one of my favorite ones. It's Raya frita. Fried moraya, it's morale fish. Okay. It's right here. It's right here. And that was a beer. And I see a lot of the traditional fishing boats out on the beach in pictures of people have from Maya. Yeah. It's a beautiful place because the fishing boats they add the colors to the bees is beautiful. That other things that you have to eat and in my own carbohydrate is the signature. Which is the national dish. It's quite and then they add meat to it or sometimes fish, then you have boozier, all types of seafood, of course, lap edge. And yeah. When you see it's corn it's like a corn mush and then there's a meat in the middle, but I get an east of west across Africa with different names. Yes, yes, it's a stew that's being cooked for a very long time. Yeah, corn meat. Okay. One thing I'm curious because I'm seeing some pictures of what looks like carnival in my best day of the year to be in Cape Verde. Yes, if you're after a party, yes. But the biggest carnival actually happens in Mandela, which is in southeast center island in the north, northern group of the islands. In Maya, they have carnival, yes. But not as big as in vindaloo. You have carnival, which is similar to about in Rio. In bio, it's a gathering in the streets and you have a parade, which is very cute. It's beautiful to see, but it's not as big as in in the years we need to place for it. To witness the carnival. Excellent. And then I interrupted you were taking us someplace else in my own. Yeah, if you ever managed to get away from the beach of port Angeles, I'd recommend doing that also here an island tour. You can there are many guides on the island or just ask a driver to take you around. Please, I always recommend it in general. Please try really to book your tours or eat at the local restaurants. They really needed and deserved also to be supported in their entrepreneurial projects. One of the reasons that I was interested from your descriptions and doing the southern islands is it seemed like it was going to be much more of an opportunity to meet with locals and to have a more singular experience where I would feel like I'm on Cape Verde. While I have done the stay in the lovely beach hotel owned by the international corporation at that point, you could be anywhere. So I don't think it says interesting of vacation. And so we don't tend to talk about it so much. Exactly. And it's also a different form again of colonialism that you're supporting in there. And because the people are working in those large corporations, they are very bad. They are not even allowed to take away the food of the leftovers of the food. No, the laptops of these hotels are being thrown away. The people can not take them home. And these islands where you have the big resorts, the people get the water off so that the tourists can take a lot of long showers. So it's not very ethical that at all. And I feel sorry and for them for the local communities, just not fair. Depending on the way you have a lot of alternatives, but to go to places that are run and managed by converting people, I would when you're there on any island, look for the local alternative because, okay, there are many foreigners out there as well. But many of them have different income streams to have some investments in Europe and they get that or they have their renting out some places, put them on Airbnb. All kinds of things are they have their rent that comes in every month. But the people from actually the cape verdeans, it's very hard. And so I'd really suggest to support them as much as you can because it also shows that entrepreneurs are Kaiser and that

"You're in the brava, after visiting the city, the day after you can go for a hike, which is because it's a spectacular hiking island, breathtaking really and it takes you to different villages that are very remote. Some villages have achieved goat cheese factory where you can buy some cheese and the people will be so grateful if you buy them something. For the tour, you can either run the cards somewhere or you can ask a driver to take you around. You can also ask a guide. So over there, since it's such a small city, it's not even a city. You can compare it to a village. My tip would be just talk to the first person that speaks English if you don't speak Portuguese, say, hey, I'm looking for a guide or if you're at your hotel, you have a couple B and BS and hotels or guesthouses and you just ask them and they will give you the number of drivers. But since it's so small, the connections are very easy to make and yeah. I'm seeing about 1500 people in the whole island. We are talking about 1500 people on the other islands. It's Kanye and lovely. Now, is there a particular high key recommend? Oh. No. Okay. We're going to I'm going to find the person who speaks English and ask them. Okay. And I did the island tour. It's Santa is really where I spent so much time hiking and there I have at least 12 flags I can recommend to you. But for brava, it's better you go. Yeah, with a guide. Okay. We'll put a link to your 12 hikes on your website in the show notes so that people can get that. And then in bravo, maybe we can recommend the tour there. I understand one of the things we can see there as well as the dragon trees, the trees that look like great big stocks of broccoli. I just said broccoli today and then it gets interesting. Excellent. Anything else we're going to do on bravo? Now after the island tour and the hiking day, we go back to nova cintra, catch a van, go down to the port, to the harbor, where the ferry will take us back to prayer. So that's going to be a longer bright. Take a book, take a magazine and audiobook a podcast. And listen to it while you are making your way back. I appreciate you recommending a podcast because I know you're not a big podcast listener. I have done love. So many of them, but I never get the time to listen to them. Maybe this show would change it. Hopefully. Excellent. What other things do people need to know when they're going to go to Cape Verde? Other things to know is that in general, it's a very safe country, just I would say in prior and in Mandela, I wouldn't leave the city center. And I wanted to go to the neighborhoods where you feel uncomfortable. So it's just prior and recently I've heard that in cell and Vishnu, there are some that the crime rate is going up because it's the most these are the most touristy islands. And yeah, that often attracts people that don't have the best intentions sometimes. So I've heard that the crime rate has been going up in silent boa vista, but in general, it's a so when it comes to Santander, my. Outside player in Santiago island, it feels so safe. You can leave your phone and come back and you will never have a bad experience. Especially on these smaller islands like brava or Mayo, people look after you. Yeah, it's a nice community feel. As I mentioned in the recent amateur traveler newsletter, I am currently enjoying being with my new grandson. He's pretty precious to me already and when my daughter was looking for a pediatrician, you can bet that she put more work into finding a good doctor than you would finding a good hotel. Now, you said you were always going to use the word trapped, I'm not sure that trapped it is appropriate that you were in holding up in Cape Verde when COVID hit. Where were you? So I was in Mayo island. That's the iron that would suggest visiting after Santiago and our itinerary. I was at that time in Mayan. I had planned to do voluntary work in the school and my own. And then just as I arrived, two weeks later, the first school started closing because COVID was not even not even in the country, but they already out of prevention. They were closing the schools because they knew that they don't have sufficient resources to hospitals to take care of people. So that's as a prevention they closed the schools on right, so that was it with my voluntary work. Then slowly afterwards, the borders of the country got close, and then the borders between the islands were closed. So you could not go to. The island that you're currently in. So you were about to take us off to mile, which is to the east of Praia and the island that prays on that I've already forgotten. Which is the island list. So what are we going to do in Maya? Okay, Maya, you either love it or you hate it. So for me, I love it. It was very special place in my heart because it's so different from the other islands. I probably also very different from other places you have visited. It's still an island that is somehow stuck in its own bubble. It's okay. So genuine tickets rough, not easy to live on because as mentioned, sometimes electricity gets cut off the water gets cut off. Sometimes the Wi-Fi doesn't work, but the people like Africa. Yes, but in a great way because I remember the day when we had no Wi-Fi and that it was no electricity, it was I think the best day of the entire lockdown because we just got everybody was out and you meet on the beach because the entire editor only 4000 inhabitants in the city of Maya, which is Portugal English. There are only 2000 people, so it's a nice community and everybody at that time was gathering at the beach or went for a walk and it's a nice community field. So what's it about Mario? So this is not an island to go see lots of beachside tall Hilton Hyatt in international

"It's now since the price is everywhere on the rise, especially when it comes to petrol. But what I did often shared right up to the volcano because it's very steep way up so the car is going to burn a lot of gasoline. So if you find other tourists that you can share the right way because you're always going to travel in a van, then it becomes obviously cheaper for everyone. Okay. Got it. And is there one main site or are there hiking trails up there? So once you're in the volcano area, you have a village there, which is almost unreal, but people are living there on the foot of the volcano. So you have to imagine a landscape a desert that's all black. It's black. And the blue sky. That's it. And then this massive volcano coming out of nothing. And you think that the soil is dead and nothing is growing there, but actually the soil is more fertile at the volcano than down in San Felipe, but that's why. People are even slowly moving back to the volcano. Because before 2014, it was quite there were two villages, quite large of them, and then you had a massive eruption of the volcano, the entire village got destroyed, and still nowadays you can see houses of shadow data which use the village next to the volcano that have been nominated by the lava and it have been completely destroyed. People left the village, but after the nava had cooled down, they came slowly back and they were building the houses on the same place that they got that they had the houses before. Just the building on top of the lava that was covering their former houses. So it's a dramatic scene and dramatic scene. We only recently wrote has been fixed to the village of shadow data. Once you are in cloud data, which is the village on the foot of the volcano, I recommend first stop at the winery because that's where the line of fogo, which is if I'm not mistaken the only one being made in carbo valley and it's very hard to get it outside of carbohydrate. It's a very good one because it grows on the soil, which is full of minerals. So it's really an excellent thing to do. And once you're there, you can take the contact with a guide that can lead you up to the volcano and you can also decide if you want to spend the night in shadow scale data next to the volcano. So I spent one night in the village of the volcano because I absolutely wanted to witness the sunset and the sunrise of it and it's really a place out of this world. It's unreal. It's really unreal under this massive volcano and still now having goosebumps because it's something very unique. So I recommend spending another night unless you are in a hurry and you're not interested in going up to the volcano. You can just keep going on with your island tour. Because it's a circular road on fogo and you go back to Philippe but the other way around that you came. So if to go to the volcano you have to leave on the east and then it takes you up to the volcano and then it takes you down to the coast again and then you will come back to south Filippo to the western part. One thing I'm curious about. So we didn't talk about weather but we're I think in the tropics where at least close to the tropics north of the equator still and so I'm picturing Cape Verde being a very warm, moist place am I it all correct? Yeah, it's more warm than more especially in the last years. The Rain has been very scarce, but this year there has been heatwave in Europe, but the capabilities islands have been experiences kind of heat waves and dry seasons for at least the last 5 years. So The Rain season usually is if I'm not mistaken September till November, but then now they have been seasons where there was no rain at all. I think it's more a warm climate than the humid climate. Always take a very light jacket or a little rain jacket ticket. We did just in case. But if you're traveling from December until July, there's no chance that there would be a rainbow but just in case take it, it's always good to have something wrong, especially when you're going to the fogo volcano at night. Where I wanted to go with that, yeah. So you're more than a mile up, so I'm guessing if you're up there for sunset or sunrise, you're going to need something warm. Yeah, in the evening, you should definitely take something. Please. And in winter, apparently it can even snow. That's what I've heard, but. Interesting. And then sorry, then we're going down the volcano and where are we off to next? So you go down to the volcano, go probably through the village of Mossad, and you're back in south Philippe. So what you want to do next is you go to the next island, which is brava. It's on the western side again. So that's the most restaurant part of Cape Verde. And also western Africa. Brava is called also the island of flowers. It's a beautiful island, very green, very large, and then you have more frequently, you have brava, which translates into English as bright, has also its name for rhythm, because the sea is very rough to get there. Again, you have no airport to go to Russia and you need to go by ferry. So you take the ferry from south village to brava, that's one hour, but take your sickness pills just in case your sensitive to the movement of the sea, but it can be really rough and there can be delays. I've been waiting in the harbor of south Filippo, I think three, four hours for the boat to arrive because it's the boat that's coming from prior to south Philip. And then it goes over to brava. So be ready to take a good book and there's no Wi-Fi. So be ready to spend the time there. From there, you take the ferry to brava, and the drivers are already waiting there to take you up to the city of brava, which is nova cintra. Nova cintra is the only landlocked capital island capital city in Kubernetes. So nova sintra, the city of brava has no access to the sea. So you need to drive. They moved up the hills to get away from the pirates. They used to attack them when they were in the coast. Yes, yes, there are some very interesting pirate stories in Cabo Verde. So their entire villages, where the people have blue eyes because apparently Francis Drake was in a very reproductive mood when he visited Cambridge. And yeah, and it's actually true to this village. I've been to one of these villages and yeah, there's a stunning amount of people with blue or green eyes. And a little bit of a darker skin, which is a fascinating mix and a beautiful mix. Interesting. Okay, gotta go back to coming back to Braga islands to bubba island. So it's a very quiet island. Not many tourists, many people have emigrated from that island as well. So in the evening, it's very calm. Once you know the sintra, you can have a dinner there. And there's also set switch that Lewis has another music club over there, which doesn't have a lot of shells. But if you're lucky, maybe you'll be on time for a show. But you've talked about the music clubs. I want to get into a little more detail. Are they all different from another? Or is there all you said traditional music? I don't know what traditional Cape Verde music is at very similar to African beat or no, they have their own job to have their own style. It's called. It's called funana. But in the music club on the music and the music club, it's offset source that Lewis, you were mostly here morna, which are poems that are song, it's very melancholic style. Almost like photo. Exactly. That's why I want to say better nostalgic value when I'm colleague and don't listen too much to it because you get depressed. But it's really beautiful and I've cried on more than one more now because even if you don't understand the words, it goes to your heart and it can not leave you on different. So I'm hearing a heavy influence of the Portuguese in there. Oh yes, certainly. It's a very interesting mix between Portuguese and then yeah, western Africa cultures. Interesting. With a few blue eyed to people who descended from Francis Drake. Yeah. Yeah. Yes, exactly. So once

"Same sort of thing? Yes, similar. And public schools were they would do auctions of slaves and still there. You have every couple of years. You have a non you have to correct me if I'm saying reenacting. They reenact the scenes of the slave trade, which was just still truly marking the character of paper. As a country as a culture and its people. And you said, we'll also see the colonial architecture. This was a Portuguese colony, as I understand. Yes, it was a Portuguese colony. Until only very recently, now you correct me if I'm wrong, in the 70s or 80s, it became independent. 75. Which is surprising. Yes, so in 1974 and they have come along. And yeah, so once you apply a prior is also home to some very good music clubs because converter is one of the largest music producers in western Africa. So if you go to Senegal or any other western African country, it's very likely that you will come across music that has been produced or made created in Cabo Verde. So one person from carbohydrate wants told me if the GDP of carbohydrate would be measured in its music, we will be one of the richest countries in the world. And it's actually true. There are different types of music they have. Everybody knows cesarea ever. But there are so many other singers that made it on the global stage as well. So if you want to enjoy Kevin music, playa is really a great place. When you said music clubs, do you have a favorite? I think they can tell the music. Which is quite popular. Yeah, that's also in the historic part of the city. And then you can listen to the most popular joys which are Moderna and then of course we have paducah all the different styles and the music clubs. This played it. And for example, in kitala, music as you can also have your dinner there, while listening to the music. So it's a nice place. Okay. Cool. From there. Anything else we want to do in prayer, you've got us there for a day or so. Yeah, we'll stay there for a day. If you have the time, if you want to also visit more of Santiago, I would take another day to explore the islands. If you explore the island, take the island tour, there are many travel agencies in pride itself that offer one day tour of the island. So you get a driver and a van and they take you for one day across the island and show you the most beautiful places. And it's really interesting because there are a couple places in Santiago language are very interesting. Once it's the rabid community, which is a community that lives without electricity and really yeah, it's quite remote and they live different partially. Yeah, they live a very basic lifestyle out of their own choice. You have a former what they call a former concentration camp in the north of Santiago island, which was used to imprison Portuguese political dissidents. You have nice surfing beach in tarafa. And all of this can be visited during an island tour on Santiago. So that will be two days. Concentration camp would be the Terra fall. Yes, exactly. That would be the butterfly. So that would be two days on Santiago. One in prayer and one in Santiago. From there, it's time to go to the next island, which is in the west. Which is home to the most active volcano on cargo valley, and which has erupted if I'm wrong for the last time in 2014. By the way, go back to that later on once we are actually there. So how to get to fogo, you can either take the plane, all you can take the ferry with up to you really what you want to see between the Santiago can be very rough. I've got very sick on that boat and of course the Atlantic Ocean flight. So I know I used to say, but that C was rough. I'm telling you, it was rough. So if you're not very resistant to the sea and seeing other people's sick because many people will be sick on that boat and that's probably the details. So if you don't want to live that experience, take the plane and that's it. Yeah. Looks like it's something like 25, 30 miles. So it's not all that far. No, it's not far at all. So by it will take you three hours, maybe, and then by playing even less, I think that's a flight of maybe half an hour and maximum. So you arrive in the capital city of fogo, which is called self Philippe, a beautiful city, saint Philip. Also there, you have beautiful colonial architecture, colorful house runs, and also there you have one music club, as a music lab, it's traditional music, which is absolutely worth a visiting. It's called set sewage sadhguru, where they support a local artist. Yeah. My problem is I laugh because I know that I'm the one who has to look these up and put them in the show notes so that people can find them and the Portuguese is hard for me. It's much more complicated than Spanish because of all the sure. Yeah, it's true. That's true. But I was sent them over to you. It's 7 months, 7 sons, said Lewis sets in. Yes. So I would spend if you have the time. I would spend one day in south Philippe because it has, again, a different vibe to play. It's smaller, it's cuter. You have sea views all over the place. And in the evening, go to set so I said Louis have a traditional dinner there and enjoy a local concert. They often have exhibitions as well. It's really a nice place and where you can hang out with the people from some Philip. Now, we're on an island that to look at it is all volcano. This is how this island formed. And it's quite obvious on this one. How are we going to take advantage of that? Are there volcano tours or what does one do? Yes. So after spending one day in saint Philip, I would say one day to do the island tour, but the island tour should include absolutely mandatory visit of the volcano because it's spectacular and there's anything like it. You can either do the island tour on your own. Or you can contact one of the agencies in south Philippe. There are a couple of ones, not so many that will take you up to the volcano. When you're negotiating the taxi ride to go up to the volcano, make sure to negotiate because they will ask you a lot of money before and then you can still see how much you're comfortable with spending. Decide how much it's going to cost before you go. Yeah, I talk to the people, what do you think, how much will it cost? Talk to other trees, but have you paid because I can not tell you not the price as

"Of Senegal. So off the coast of Senegal. And then they are southern one hours by flight from Canary Islands which belong to Spain. So if you look at it, they are really strategically located in the heart of the Atlantic. Excellent. And why should someone go to Cape Verde? There is actually a bunch of arguments why you must visit kit version. So in total, there are ten islands. Every island is a little universe, if not to say a Paradise on its own. Every island is very different from each other. So if you are more of a high carer and outdoor lover, there are islands or these two or three that have stunning hiking trails. If you are more of the all inclusive type of traveler, you prefer to stay at the hotel and not move from your sunlight. There's an island for that as well. If you prefer to go really offbeat and quietness and have no Wi-Fi connection at all, but there's an island for that as well. If you're more into a city life and culture, well, there are two items for that as well. So you can really pick an island as a destination depending on what you like to do on the holiday. That's also the reason why many people, they come just to visit one island, and that indirectly they get to know about the other islands too, and that's how they always keep coming back to Capri because every island of the ten islands is so different. And you say ten islands. Excellent. Ten islands in front of you. And we're going to talk about a one to two week itinerary. We're not going to visit all the islands I assume. So what kind of itinerary are you going to recommend for? The one that comes to visiting Cape Verde would really focus on what you are expecting from this holiday. Do you want to be tired after the hiking trails? Do you really want to, is that what you're looking for for the hiking for a long day and the camp somewhere, or you just looking for ultimate relaxation, and you just want to stay in the same hotel for the next 5 days, or do you want to go really upbeat? And being a place where sometimes the water, the electricity gets cut off, but we have no Wi-Fi. So it really depends on that. And of course, you can also combine two of these interests. So what I always like to say is do a combination of hiking and beach, if that's your favorite. If you don't prefer, if you don't like to hike at all, just take one of the beach islands so to say. What you need to know next is that there are two island groups that compose Cape Verde. So you have a couple islands in the north and you have a couple islands in the south. If you fly from the southern islands to the northern islands, it can be one hour flight. If you go by boat, it's 12 hours by boat. So that's a big distance between northern and the southern islands. So what comes next? You need to decide are you going to explore the northern islands or are you going to explore the south alliance? If you're more into offbeat, less touristy places, I would suggest the south, the southern islands. If you are more into a mainstream and seeing the seas and the destination, I would suggest the model islands. So let's say we go to the northern islands and we are hiking and beach. I would suggest landing into Mandela, which is the city of southeast central where you have a lot of culture, do a couple hiking trails there, and then absolutely take the fiery over to San Juan town, which is probably the best hiking islands in Cabo Verde. Stay there for two, three days, do a hiking trail every day. Come back to mendeleev, get the plane from Intel to sell or to boa vista, which are two beach islands, and then you can spend some time on the beach. So that will be one Italian because if you want, if you try to combine the northern islands and the southern islands, it's a lot of hassle to travel between those two groups and during holidays and vacation time is precious and you don't want to lose that time waiting at the airport or if you travel by ferry, it's even worse because families get often delayed by one side to wait for 12 hours in the harbor of prior and Santiago to get my boat. So the schedules of the fairies are very flexible and often change last minute. I don't recommend the first if you have a set time of only one week or two weeks in a couple of minutes. For the saddle islands, if you want also an itinerary of the southern islands, you will go to the other international airport of a couple of weather, which is in prior. On the island of Santiago, and from here, you can take either a ferry because it's just one hour to forgo, or you can go there by playing fogo is also home to the largest volcano of the island that's really spectacular. It's like a place like out of this world. There's only black sand and black landscapes and still yet people are living there and they are cultivating fruits, vegetables and wine, which is the only wine cultivated in Cabo Belle. They can go hike and from there you can make it over to grab a which has a similar profile, then some fun time, which is the hiking I mentioned just before. Stay there for once a day and do the height. Meet the people because that's really a place where not many tourists are going to the island of brava. So it's very remote. And from there, you come back to mindelo, take a ferry to Mario, which is on the other side of Santiago so that would be on the eastern side of Santiago. And that's a Christian island where you have the most spectacular pictures I've ever seen. There's no one. I've been working on those beaches centers for not one hour, two hours, and I have a chrome, I didn't come across nobody. So if you seek beaches, there are no resorts. Not much matters, but beaches are there. So there you can have some beach time, and then go back to pry on Santiago island while you flow back home again. So that would be too iterative. We're going to do one of those itineraries in much more detail. Do you have a preference? Which is your favorite? That's very difficult. I think you should see them all. And if I have to pick my two favorite islands, it's one smile for the untouched beaches and the emptiness. And then the other one is Santa for its mountains. That would be in the north. So since we would choose one island group, I would go to the south. I was going to pick this out, so that's okay. One thing I have to ask, though, so you are not from Cape Verde nor from Africa, you're from Luxembourg. Yes. Which does not have any great connection to Cape Verde than I know about how did you connect up with Gabriel 'cause you've been back how many times? I've

"She just said at the beginning of her testimony that they were in the beast. Last time I checked the beast is the limousine. And I think it's a 22 foot long vehicle. He just reached up in the front of the, listen, he sits in the back. Next to the window so everybody can see him. Same place that he, you know, he's a designated place he sit there. There's a designated place that he's sitting in Air Force One. There's a designated place where he sits in marine one. Having a president going to go from a back of a 22 foot vehicle, somehow fly through the air with a Superman cape on, and put his arm through, I'm assuming there's a partition there that they must have opened to let the president put his arm through. And the president is a big dude. He ain't reaching his arm all the way through a partition to the steering wheel.

Pastor Tom Ascol Offers Words of Comfort in This Brutal Time

"Curiosity over the last couple of years. About the baptist convention, the Southern Baptist convention and their leadership and their direction and how they're handling some of these issues of critical race theory and how it has been engaging with the church. And there is a movement to try to restore in my opinion theological and biblical sanity back to the convention. And one person in particular is a senior pastor from grace baptist church in cape corral, Florida beautiful cape corral, Florida, Tom askew, and he's with us right now. Tom, welcome to the Charlie Kirk show. I just want to first start and just ask you as a pastor, just give our audience some words of comfort from the scriptures in this very unexpected and brutal time of national mourning as we look at what's happened and you've all day Texas. Yeah, well, this is thought to be a reminder to us that we live east of Eden. We live in a fallen world. It's precisely because of that. The gods on the lord Jesus into the world. And it is only through Christ, we can find reconciliation with God. We can find the comfort that we need. God is with those who are broken hearted, he deals gently with people who find themselves cast down. So my encouragement is to look to Christ to recognize, again, why we need to save and how good God has been to us to give up his own son to save us from our sin. And we need to get that message of Salvation as widely distributed as we can because this type of evil continues in our world.

Five new out day a while revenue services those quite a number of services that obviously working from home aspect doesn't work but where the work is office based in impre- can be able to be productive outside the office building and can do that at home. In terms of technology to be able to be productive within the call center environment we needed to also create some quick adapation to ensure that albacore agents can be able to from home depot doctors so all of those lessons and the time when we were doing that we adapting because as we were getting signals a from a national government or from the president around which lead levels were ex and increase in safety and ensuring that social distance singles maintain we implementing. So we took a step back towards the end of last year to say out of what we how we adopted. How can we ensure that going forward. We curate a culture of hybrid working environment to ensure that flexible working program where it is appropriate is implemented but also balanced with ensuring that way is availability is needed within the office. And so those are some of the of the of the structures that We have currently waking on to ensure that we guide organization going forward on. How can flexibility to work but also being mindful around the culture wanna create who was a gain what has emerged in the world of waking from home as opposed to be in the environment. What are the benefits. And what are they Some of the costs that one needs to look at in terms of the impact of culture. So we being intentional in watching that closely around how. "Using external stakeholders. That you are opening yourself up to two ideas that can improve and celebrates Innovative ways of doing things and Leadership we have a responsibility to ensure that we create an environment where employees feel that they can contribute to make things better and our citizens can contribute to improve services for me within the that It's important that we always have that in mind as we continue to deliver services By to those cities that on the same jimmy. Now's the pandemic influenced how you innovate. What are some of the latest innovations you would like to highlight. There's one blessing auto vegas that it really forced us to to that we all had to adopt in. Why personally Within the organizational space certainly the a lot of changes that we needed to make whether we're ready for them or not here. The was immediately to so from the city of capetown's perspective. What we did was again. We were intentional around ensuring veg me scripted. The lessons that will lend on how we adopted ourselves during the there was a lot of changes that we needed to make and we took time to reflect and say what are the changes that made. How did they brought better to the citizens. And how did we promote safety for stop And how do you use those lessons. In order to make sure that we future-proof the city and we realized that there were quite a number of modernisation strategies that we had in the pipeline and we also saw. How do we ensure that we use all the lessons that we've lent to fast track and create the lessons length as a scuffled in for adaptation into the future so there's a number of areas that focused our attention on end one was. How do we view world of work now because The pandemic changed the world of work in ways that we told it was possible and We were watching trends and we were looking at way. The changes are being made and for us..

"Within the organization and then ebony innovation is one focus area as well as social and economic innovation so those are the four areas in which the i four focuses their efforts in order to drive the culture of innovation within the city so they are an extension of the innovation a unit in a sense. Let you not have a broader community within organization which comes from different elements of the business itself and are able to to to help us drive at this innovative thinking we can villainous and the second milestone that we proud to have achieved ease way. We created physical spaces ovation spaces within the to sue in one of our officers which has a civic center. We've got to physical spaces. One is called the tank that on his cold idea victory. This is a physical space way. A person or a team we encourage teams to come in and either have web shops that creates an environment where they can able try keaton the creative juices flow the way they are designed The the tools. That are a a meant to create that phil where you can come in and just as flow. So it's not a normal space. That one is used to. But it's a space that's meant to and show that you creativity is encouraged. So we've got those too viscous faces. Budget pitching will went to create more those and To ensure that they become a symbol of of what we already are when a person is a physical space coverages as well and signals to to to to everyone else around that intent. Another treatment that very excited to have achieved is lusted july a high of coverage. We launched our collaboration platform so this is a club. Collaborative technology that Most of the cities are referred to which are already at a maturity level of four or five in terms of innovation already have collaborative technology that they use to ensure that they idea management is regulated or is is formalized so we launched that last year and we tested internally with our staff and it really creative created a great platform for us to be able to harness digest from prison to be able to hear how we doing during carpet as we will. All in that You know unknown space but also we have now towards the end of last. Be able to open it up four external stakeholders where we now. It now offers executive what the goal is to ensure that we create a collaborative space for both internal staff but also for us to communicate directly with our citizens for them to tell us about where we need to improve internal set delivering but also ideas and in many cases we've had from us citizen celebrating what we do so that forest is a milestone because the game one of that step that puts us towards higher maturity level because we do not have a formal collaborative that from where we can engage stakeholders. What is the number one challenge standing in the way of innovation. And how can it be addressed challenges. I think One of the of the challenges it when you create culture a culture is a way of doing things so it doesn't happen overnight and In order for call show to to really be used a tool to drive. Strategy leadership has been tension all so i think with any ization that is starting to journey of innovation own is already doing innovation focusing. Your efforts on couch will use great results..

"Vendors team or people although then you've got basically you've got three non powered humans on the team and it's like you know you can't have that many batman i guess but i mean even with the for them it's like hawkeye's new powers and steve rogers except that really. Don't have anything. well that's what i'm saying. It's like you have you know you his when it's like to normal people in into it seems more even if we had three normal people than it's gonna just seem like quicksilver doing all the work. We needed another woman. Well yeah you without a doubt but you know one was basically an integrated team back in the day. Keep going from forty one to fifty in include that vendors annual number one you give ya with the red guardian which includes two which is which i actually think is going to be interesting to hear in the new film. 'cause there is apparently a bunch of stories with the red guardian talking about working with captain america and saying that. I've heard that he has a lot of moments. We talked about his captain america stories. You know so. I'm wondering if this red guardian is the one played by Hooper from thinks is going to be the red guardian from the forties. Who is just been active. This whole time the mcu. They kinda give her that thing to do. In iran to also captain america to well you know she's and hero say about her and this is the thing i know we're all we're all excited for this movie but i think if you look at a lot of natasha's history she is ban best utilized when she was part of a team. I think i mean. I'm not gonna say that. All of her solo work is an kelly thompson. Ryan was the best way. Well no. I mean i'm not gonna say they're they're they're not good. I'm just gonna. They're not very good. I'm just going to say. I think that some of our best stories are when she's part of a team. I think she works well with team. I think that. I think i think they want to make her a loan. You know be a like wolverine daredevil. Even but i think really. She has her best drinks when she is part of a group and she has connection which you know if you think about if you want to put humanity onto the character you think about this person going through the red room going through whatever you know loyalty choose. The system that she was raised in that is going to be her. Normal cease is being in that group in that team. Yes you can go off and do her individual things but it's coming home to family. That's what's important tour. What you said. I think yeah for many years you know. She was written better as a member of a team. I think some of the more modern stuff especially when she's written by a woman by kelly thompson. Or even the devin grayson stuff. I think it gets a lot better there. that's true. I will not argue with that. That is very much Very much The case it is certainly something that has has its strengths for the character And i loved her. I loved the very recent black widow book. Just read you know. Which was you know her but again. That was an interesting one because yes it is her being alone. Va but it is also her working with her teammates. You know when it comes down to it that you know having that support is helpful. She can do it on her own. And basically the whole part of it is that she is so dangerous that the only way they could eat the only way they could try to. Sapper was giving her the perfect life and the perfect memories and just taking away all of her pain. But you know like Oh what was that I'm i'm forgetting the i mean. The american version was the long kiss goodnight. But the idea of the person who wakes up and realizes. Oh i'm spy that's a. That's a powerful story and always a bad story when that wakes up and they realize. Oh you have really. You shouldn't have woken me up. You should let me stay in that dream because that's the only way you contain them. The person of that danger level is within the dream. If you can keep them happy they won't come back and kill you all shout something that. I don't think you guys probably read it if you did. No offence The monger one through five where. She's the working for shield and she is like part of the secret origin of kill monger the bowels. I'd really neat actually. Because it's kind of verse of choke you know like kernels of truth in fiction. How to be stabilized region things like that. I thought that that was very interesting. Especially because like i said the back with of the modern web portal stuff is phenomenal eyewitness later for an inaugural no that is true and you know and that sort of why she no. That's why she's on the avengers that's why she was the breakout star of the avengers. That's why scott. Hanson has been so beloved played our cards right dish cetera mouth. She abetted elizabeth. I mean it's entirely. I'm going to say this it's it would be awesome and that alternate universe and again this is even though scourge hands says yes. Now she's done for ever with highlands facing you know how many time how many times has so stallone said. It's the last rock. I can't do this anymore. You know. I don't have get punched in the face. Yeah but you know the idea that they'll be more and they'll be something i think about rambo. He is heck. the first rambo was supposed to be the last. The first rocky was supposed to be the west rocky they were always meant to be these perfectly self contained stories. Some pulled up the money truck and that's when things got interesting after decade. They just need a break sometimes. Living yeah well you know. But like i said it's the thing is a after a while it's nice to. It's nice to have the money that you made off of these things into your own artistic things but after a while you mess what you had being the the the young hotstar you miss being the you know the the the the very wealthy from all the money and the very popular character that you once were and so you go well. Maybe maybe for a little thing. We'll come back. We'll do something for the fans you know because we love the fans speaking from experience being the young haunt movie star. Well you know we.
