Warriors: Matilda of Tuscany

"Of Tuscany. Matilda was born in ten. Forty six in Luca Tuscany. She was the daughter of a prominent ruler in northern Italy. When she was just six years old her father was assassinated. Her siblings died soon. After making Mathilde the sole heir to her family's Fortune Matilda's mother then married the Duke of Upper Lorraine an enemy of the Holy Roman Emperor Henry the third in response the Emperor Kidnap Matilda and her mother and brought them to Germany. He kept them as hostages for a year until he eventually reconciled with the Duke. That experience marked the beginning of Matilda's lifelong animosity towards the Holy Roman emperor. Matilda married the Duke Son in ten sixty nine and they had a child who passed away as an infant after that. Matilda move back to Italy with her mother to rule like her father. Matilda was a stringent supporter of the pope. She became close friends with Pope. Gregory the seventh and was involved in his conflict with the emperor when Henry the fourth became holy Roman Emperor. He and Pope Gregory clashed over the power balance of the Holy Roman Empire. Henry pushed to increase the power of the emperor over the clergy insisting that he had the right to appoint new bishops pope. Gregory wanted to preserve his power and excommunicated Henry the pope also passed a resolution that stunted. Henry's power staving. Henry's underlings had no obligation to obey him. Henry feared the possibility of a rebellion. So in the harsh winter of ten seventy seven he made the long journey to Matilda's castle and Canosa to meet Pope Gregory and beg his forgiveness. After being forced to wait in the cold for three days Henry was permitted to enter the gates cook humiliated Henry further. I making him walk barefoot through the snow and kneel at his feet and penance. This became an iconic historical seen right. Matilda's Gregory revoked Henry's excommunication but the conflict didn't end there. Henry was excommunicated two more times for other offenses after his excommunication in ten eighty Matilda remained at war with him for over two decades. Sometimes she would don armor and personally lead her troops into battle. She also helped finance. The pope's military operations Mathilde battled against Henry until his death in eleven o six in their final conflict. Matilda gathered an army of local small landowners. Who were familiar with the territory there? Quick communication gave them an edge over the emperor. Soldiers Matilda herself wrote on the battlefield surrounded by a small group of loyal men. Henry's battalion found difficult terrain and watch towers raining spears at every turn. Though the Imperial Army was strong these small advantages turned the tide in favor of Mathilde allowing her to hold the territory of northern Italy. Not only was she victorious. Mathilde strategy one over several towns to her side united against imperial rule. Henry never put up much of a fight again. Mathilde forced to soldiers to retreat. Whenever she showed up to lead her army she also lets successful sieges of several more cities in ten ninety. Three MATHILDE convinced Emperor Henry Son to rebel against him and seize the crown. Jane's Hoya Tour

"I'll have gathered the Hoyas from all around my house and brought the here to take a look at the mall and to give you a guided tour just because most of them are up quite high to look at and talk about the same time so here we are with the hoyas choice and I have. I thought I had thirteen but I think actually two four six eight ten twelve. I actually think less forgotten one which is entirely possible that I have a dozen of these things. Let's Talk I the one that I've had the longest and that is my variegated Julia Canosa which well let's be fair. It's a shadow of its former self. If you listen to the Hoyer episode with Doc Chamberlain you will remember my Hoya. Canosa suffered a terrible fate. which was that a load? Some white completely white leaves to grow. There was a stem. The head completely white leaves on nothing else rather than judiciously. Cutting those off. I decided to leave them to grow. And it suddenly said the plot into a tailspin and I just about about one. She save a single cutting which I then replanted a poll. And this is what I've got now east. Not Dating Site Body's already flowered award and the single cutting has branched into two different stem cells looking reasonably good. Let's just describe this heuer. It's probably the most common hoyer that you see out there. What most people would call the wax clouds or wax flower? Eight Scott the standard luther. Relief that you'll be familiar with in the royal family. I don't exactly what variegation this Kovar is actually cooled by but it's the one with cream edges basically creamy white edges and a kind of a slight silvery splash in the center. The leaves are I would say fairly standard thickness. And they're tiny bit thought furry and it's a very attractive plant and I'm glad to say score really really well if I see any of those white leaves though the first thing I'm GonNa do is get rid of them because as I said before it was bad knees when this happened so this is doing pretty well now now. I think what I'm probably going to do with. This plant is taking cutting come spring because I would like it to push out a bit more have a bit more growth going on the part east during the classic thing. People worry about this but it really is totally normal for Hoyas and in fact many posit scramble and climb about which is putting hanging out completely bare stems with no leaves on them. I and you start to panic and think whereby leaves but what the parts doing really. Well I think it's what he's doing i. I think I've read this somewhere. But pops botanist can confirm this for me. They put out feelers to see whether it's a good place for them to grow and then once bats confirmed that they're happy that little extra ground they've colonized then they start putting up leave so they don't really waste any energy before expanding into new areas. What you'll also notice along the stem of the Hoyer this particular where on many others bumpy bits? which again can be a bit alarming? You might I think you've got scale but he's actually just adventitious roots which Tabu popout and then really sought to grow if they come across anything. That's route that's they can route into so this one's hanging so there's nothing to reach into. Those adventitious roots tend to say quite small. But they're not a problem just just waiting for the opportunity to route into something. So that's my hair. Canossa the flowers on this sort of Shell pink furry the thing that got me into Hoyas in the first place because just are so unusual gorgeous and they fly quite easily as I've already said so. Yep The flowers are great is the the foliage is great. It's a really lovely plant and if you have only one then on also is a good choice. It's easy to get hold of two which is not true of all who the WHO is. We're GONNA talk about today okay from the sublime to the ridiculous we're gonNA look at Hoya. Linear ours now. Now if you remember this specimen of mine mine came from James Wall as cutting when I visited his place. And it's done really well I'm going to take a lot of cuttings off this plot and yet it's still quite big and lush now. Relatively speaking given how long have had it. It is very very dry right now. I think I need to give this good water because it's starting to get that kind of very dull. Look that plants get when they are in need of some drinking and it's also quite like to pick up so I know that it is I plant and and this will be reported in the spring because I can see lots of routes coming through the bottom of the pulse. What I love about hoyle any are as well as suggests? The leaves are really unusual there about four centimeters long couple of inches long. I'd say and they look like run a beans or you don't call them Wanna beans in the. US been like a what you call runner beans in the US. I've forgotten green beans that look at me like green beans jeans and they're they're actually rolled in on themselves and you get a little grooved on the center and there were other softly. Furry they come out outs either side of the note and you get these long strings hanging down and they really do look very different from any other horror that you'll come across I guess stat. That adaptation is so that they can preserve water and this horrid doesn't like to be kept on the dry side we'll find with the stems on this one is that it does produce juice leave straight away unlike the con- Osa but it tends to grow stems until they get heavy enough to start trailing down so you end up with this effect. We've got kind of arms reaching up and then gradually they will drop down as the plant matures and they get long enough that they start to hang the flowers on this one. They tend to flower for me any way towards the end of the summer during autumn time and the flowers on this lovely scent which is comes into its own about seven o'clock in the evening this smell Eleni buttery mini smell really delicious and the flowers a really horrible. They are pure white and they tend to be visible among the clusters of leaves again. This is reason to have this plot hanging because it does look really great when viewed from below. I'm now this one in places like India and Nepal and it's not the easiest of course. I've never had any problems with it. But if you have a feeling that you and the person who gives the plant too much water you made strong with this one so just take care of the water inside and make sure it's really well drained but yeah. This is one of my absolute absolute favorites and would be without that particular one more talk about and that is where Matilda now. This is actually a hybrid. It's across between Serb hanes and we're con Osa and this one came to cutting. I can't remember who gave this to me. I think it was us on a UK. HOUSEPLANTS facebook group. But again if you are going to grow start off with and he wants in court easy to get going with I think Matilda Sabrina good choice. This plot has small roundish oval leaves with silver splashing on them. I mean it's hard degeneracy toys because the league shake dust change. I find that sometimes the leaf leaves can be quite elongated and then the ones quite oval and that changes us the leaf as a stem matures. This will hasn't flowered yet but I just love the look of it. It's it's actually desperately in need this. One of being trained around the hoops of I can really enjoy the foliage up close. The flight was on this. One looks very much like Canosa except the flowers are white and fuzzy rather than Pale pink and fuzzy according to winstrom unstained this flows early and often so on still waiting by flowers gonNA hoping that they will come fairly soon but even if it never flowered I think I would still be in love with this planet. Really really beautiful. I- propagated cutting of this using the hottest tub technique. Thanks to Sully Williams or for highlighting that brilliant technique for me. And it won't really well for this plant. The only thing is you end up with roots coming from every node. So what I would do. What is rooted is late on some compost and allow it to route? But it's really easy. Plant ICAGO wrong with this and apparently the scent is quite like Hokkaido. Sir I have never got any sense to all of my work so that's not very informative but I'm not worried about the scent. I think it is beautiful flowers. And that's quite enough for

A disappointing settlement for the women who brought civil claims against Harvey Weinstein

"There is a potential agreement in the Harvey Weinstein Litigation and this is brought by dozens of women who have alleged sexual misconduct against him It is a deal that is one of those deals. And you know this because you are in fact a lawyer and practiced law before you got into this remunerative gosh criminal but this is civilization It's one of those things where it it just you know. Not a dime would come out of Harvey Weinstein's pocket all insurance no individual would potentially get more than five hundred thousand dollars dollars. which if you are alleging rape is some of this? There are such allegations. I you know it just it it. It seems like those who are participating are not that thrilled grilled and some are not going to participate. Yeah and I think this is the dilemma that a lot of plaintiff's face where they're presented with a potential settlement. That is not what they wanted wanted. But what is the alternative taking this to a trial in dragging this out for three or four years and costing hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees. He's to potentially get something more. I mean that's what these lawyers take advantage of and the fact that the the thing that really gets a lot of people upset about this potential settlement is that Harvey Weinstein himself will not be forced to pay and this is a guy that has made millions of dollars over the years and as we now know was abusing his power throughout that process and for him not to have to pay anything to these alleged victims rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Yeah this is separate separate from the criminal trial against him which is still pending But that case only focuses on a couple of people they the prosecutors are keeping it very we narrow these. They're just two people who are going to be covered by this criminal trial although other witnesses may be called. So what you're looking at for some of these women it's it's it's beyond the statute of limitations they can't otherwise get compensation from him or you know as you say it's it's debilitating to try and litigating in this case you're not personally litigating with Harvey Weinstein but you're litigating with their with the lawyers for Harvey Weinstein a lot of the insurance company for Harvey Weinstein. These are deep-pocketed entities. He's I one of the women who is going along with the settlement plans to said she was disappointed. This is Catherine Kendall Jackson actress who accused accuse him of basically chasing him around in his apartment in the new one he was nude when he she thought she was going to. A business meeting She said I don't love it but I don't know how to go after after him. I don't know what I can really do and I think it's a shame that sense of helplessness. And we do know that. A couple of people producer. Alexandra Canosa an actress sweat. All David won't accept this which could upset the whole thing and I think the big thing for some of these actresses and others who feel help list list is. We've got a big criminal trial coming up in January and that is going to be potentially catharsis moment if Harvey Weinstein is held l.. To account by a criminal jury New York that I think is probably more valuable than money to a lot of these accusers. I don't know it's a big. If whether he gets convicted victims you know and nobody knows. These cases are also not so easy to win that it feels too many people like he should be. But you know as I'm just looking at another one of these women a former model and so he brock. Who said he who accused him of misconduct and said she feels defeated and hopeless? And I don't know that a criminal conviction I think it would make Kerr feel somewhat better I don't know that it would help to alleviate that feeling of defeat and hopelessness Quote one more of the women. This caitlyn Delaney as you said Many of us are outside the statute of limitations. We can't have our criminal court Even a flawed settlement she said might bring some justice and relief so so With this thing goes through. Let's hope that is in fact the

Get Silver in your Skincare!!

"In today's episode we are going to talk about Colloidal Selva you came to me with this identity you know did focus on yeah and he's still on we just pretend that lives I don't know anything about percent in is as I kind of don't want to be around the Bush don't really WANNA lives people make Canosa from the adult so I just tell them what it is than you can do the salaries sit back relax sit back and listen to my own with sounds well I know that you have a product with colloidal silver written Yeah so yeah allies have skin blemish keeper overnight serum one over the long lengthy of exaggerate name is I'm trying to go I've kind of seen it knocking about for awhile now especially plastics and stuff the last with silver in it well it got me Oh is it actually silver Oh my God here we go Ciampino yes right well guys it's not it's not called COLLOIDAL silver for year but it could have been like an extra Sony right you know what everyone who's in just no I'm learning to be fair that except to say it's going to be the opposite way around because I'm completely baffled by next tweaks app let's talk to them let's do you want to read the first sentence nano-tech yes how again colloidal COLLOIDAL colloidal so many people are asking probably thinking what is mean clued it so Colloidal Sofa I'm going to read this and those monitor invoice of a dead obvious reason no that you wrote is a term used to describe a mixture of silver ions and Nano particles in which you're it's highly auntie microbe I'll do this right so essentially yeah tell you oh so God his day and mildly friend. Jade listens Schramm this one with Charlie always says and it really makes me laugh because of no is she says it all I was I wa it she was like it's a word she uses to describe them this went on for about five minutes and she was like this are no one essentially shouldn't yeah over she says it on my time and like I've just been listening to you talk all the time Oh my God really would you say all the time essentially in Webuye whereby he say whereby you are used to say that before known you know say for Beth can get bit they scan drinking game honestly listen listen to our survey essentially everybody knows not do it I know well no it's not a bad thing aw and quickly tap essentially into a thesaurus you different words essentially what it does is Essentially Thea Soroush you've richly essentially written in the nose as well yeah I know okay I didn't realize I like the word so much twice twice Oh God okay confront names I mean on truly approximately what else can I use originally permanently none of these right sink to essentially by beauty it wasn't a criticism it was just feel I was no no no not at all it was just a mere Oh the I've noticed that it was just an acknowledgment okay well let's get back to it and I'm not going to say essentially all Webuye Okay go over the next three episodes I'm GonNa Watch it I'm GonNa Watch she faced her bright reddish in trying to think of a different word and trying to write colloidal silver we'll just go home to all and go off a purge anyway go right so colloidal silver is highly antimicrobial which means that it's really good at killing bacteria so different types of bacteria things like E. coli and stuff August did you ever do you have I don't know stuff a Caucasus it's kind of like E. coli is just a different type of food poisoning so there's obviously good tyrian but by Syria have you ever seen the adverts and like all the good bacteria in your life yes oh drinking something yes so basically it's just the type of bacteria I said basically so colloidal Silva actually used to be used instead of antibiotics so obviously ninety tick also kills bacteria but as you'll be aware because of all of these ridiculous adverse go on TV around winter time we can build resistance to antibiotics which is not good no no no because it means that we just have to find different antibiotics every year and one day that's just not going to be left so civil was actually originally and then antibiotics found out and they swapped the move a bolt it's really really bad to ingest colloidal silver you can still buy it so the disclaimer on this episode is every put it on your skin typically just don't ingest it because it's just not good for you we'll go into in a little bit and there's a funny little Fox that relates to something hilarious she said maybe six months ago really yeah GonNa look I'm not gonNA look I don't ruin the surprise take on the show I wish y'all so am like we've come to the conclusion that obviously really killing bacteria but you have bacteria everywhere this bacterium skin now and like I said some good somebody's gotten bad but it's really good colloidal silver is really good for ensuring that any bacteria on the skin that might be causing any infections oil acne is dead and gone if you with acne and this product or something with colloidal silver will be really good for you because there were a few studies that were done what's showed that there was a type of bacteria that lives on your skin that it lives in the oily region of polls so basically when Paul becomes suffocated and blocked by skin cells and oil nc it creates an environment where this type of bacteria really thrives and it can grow and multiply quickly I'm going to try and pronounce it it's called propane oh actually it's not too bad pro peony Bactariane propia Ni ropy on sounds Italian does what would you like some propia news awesome yeah so the propia antibacterial will thrive in an environment where there's of oxygen and it's just kind of a bit grim so yes you you wanna be having some form of colloidal silver if you suffer acne so what does it do and how does it work I'm not GonNa say Topical Selva does have some pre medical uses I you know I love asides paper aims absolutely shucks I read a really read a disturbed ebbing experiment I don't want to know and to be fair that there's a lot of experiments that adults and that test on animals on the not necessarily associated with Brahms like they're not testing their products animals they just trying to figure out whether it will work full browns to then kind of take on into product floors and a colloidal silver is really good for burns so if you've got activists really good and is really good because when you burn yourself you take off the top layer of skin which means that that skin underneath which isn't used to be in kind of out in the opener is votes expose last word it can be it's really proud to infection and get in bacteria that really shouldn't be there and seek an infected when when he goes green and ooh thing and so using colloidal silver kills all of that bacteria so when you've obviously killed all of that bacteria makes it easier to he bill and those a study that I mean you might WanNa skip ahead fifteen seconds on your lap at this point that had rust in on the way that they tested it was they rob and then compared to been been same way to see whether it was wet weather and I am absolutely not saying that is way should test anything but this is a test that was done I felt sick and I'm not gonNA lie a well to a little bit not swimming pool around yes from that they did find out that it was effective but I think that was a long time ago I don't know I don't have a link to the Nasty little experiment it worked yeah I think it was like I was saying this is good for Ben Scott right knee and it was used as an anti and anti cold from the doctor that was on until you but what you have said it already unable to answer by ozone unto cereal onto so when it's applied to the skin it can be really hunting bandages dresses winds plus days that kind of thing on skin infections so dramatic when I had that those spots along with Joel Line it was probably something to do with this obviously it was an infection so I wish I'd have known about silver then but what I went to the doctor they're like we can give you into politics for it and that got rid of it so it would have been

John White Suggests You Stay in Your Lane

"John White joining US good morning morning. Sleep for me when I was a kid was long acres. That was the place to be so That's that's an interesting story there. I wanted to weigh in on this gold up at Belmont and I I was texting with a friend within seconds after the race 'cause he texted me itself. What do you think and before they even put up the a your objection or inquiry and I said well I said I thought that Vino Rosso ran a good race and he seems to be a curling improving with age like a fine wine that I added in my text to him. I said but I said there could be a D. Q. Here and I said that without obviously having seen the head on what I then also texted him 'cause he. He texted back and said really and I said yes might be the Q. I said in New York they pretty much. Let them play more than anywhere these days but this could be the queue so I was on the same page ages you in terms of if you if you go by the recent past history there you're really not expecting a D Q so they might see the head on several times. I was watching the Fox broadcast which I've said many times that is such an outstanding broadcast and they showed and then after a while they were showing with the lanes and I mean look Vino came out not once not twice ice three times he there. was there a bump. No I wouldn't even never say there was a bump but there's like contact and as you pointed out Steve I'm being hurting. I loved your comparison in terms of being on the road in your car when the car in the lane next next to you starts coming into your lane. What do you do? I mean 'cause I used that same analogy a lot of times as has a steward myself in something else when I've been stewart by self that I've told jockeys looked the more you stay straight in race Jason. I and I told them in fact I mean I told Rubin Twenties this at Los Alamos when I was in the stand for the last week of that thoroughbred herb red meat in the summer. I said Ruben. You're a fine writer. Horses run for you. You've got a great future but keep in in mind. When you're out there. The more you can possibly stay straight the last you'RE GONNA be in here seeing the stewards and the more success you really GonNa have have because it doesn't help your business if you're constantly in the steward's office in the morning and sometimes you're going to be you know skate through with a Q. Just because in the opinion of the sewer that didn't affect the order finish or didn't deny a horse the opportunity we get for a better finish but you'll be just lucky on in that regard but the more you can stay straight the less headaches. You're GONNA have the less headaches sir. I've told many many writers this for many many years so this is the thing about being Rosso the minute. He is not staying in his lane. He's putting himself in some jeopardy of possibly being be cute and so to me my vote would have been for a the Q. and I that was my decision before the stewards rendered their decision and I have to admit I was a little surprised when they voted for the D. acute just because of the recent history of how they've been judging this type of situation New York now Steve. It seems to me that there has been a change in the personnel recently in this year in Stewart's Dan. you know we have that that. WHO has gone into the stand and I barley obey a isn't he knew I mean he's. He's been there forever now. He's been there for for even one. One person change can change the dynamics to to how stewards it's rule and this is why to me you know people constantly or talking. All we want consistency. We want consistency and then I've heard some people in racing. Even some commissioners or board members say you know what if you keep the same stewards in the stand all the time they get stale. We should mix them up. Well mixing up. Stewart's to me is not conducive to consistency so one thing but you hope for is that you keep kind of a panel of seward's on a consistent. It's the basis and hope that those words will be consistent now the way they ruled this race. Steve the whole would be as you've are ticketed aided that they now continue to judge Rayson similar to this one when they get a similar situation in other words. If we get another one of these he's hurting deals. One would hope that the number would come down again but again. It's got to be a close. The merging here was you know only Canosa and that's a big element in this decision. often been two lanes or something. I doubt whether taking the Russell now but one that's a nose else and that was enough of an incident throughout really the entire stretch when you think about it I mean from where they started at the top of the stretch stretched the finish so I agree with the Bq and I I'm with you sleep and with Andy I think it is in the best interest of racing racing to judge races in terms of of when you get these horses directing like that and to to take those numbers down more often than not yeah if they're GONNA do it. They're going to do it consistently and and also beyond the consistency of of the decisions when they when it gets it to their ants. I don't understand understand why they've gotten away and Richmond. Yori has discussed this too because big for a while had been had been drafted to work with the young riders but I do not know why the film patrol concept y. Y that has has been kind of. I don't know if it's been abandoned per se but the you know the opportunity to sit with riders and say to them. You guys have got to stop this us and we're going to start calling it on a regular basis so you might as well hold your lane now and because you can do it we understand the heat of the battle and going a little bit too much with one hand or another. You know it can drive a horse in the direction. I mean frankly I to me. It seemed as if Iraq in the left hand. If you just got back to writing he might have been fine. He he went he after the first contact he we're back left handed at least one more time maybe twice and I think that that was probably what flag the stewards to say. This was more than just a casual bump. He carried him to two and a half pads and I. I'm a little surprised that the people who are continuing to say it it would never do that. Via Rosso never should have come down that that's that's a little hyper hyperbole basically as to to to what transpired there but if they're going to do it regularly. I think it'd be great for everybody

"What would be needed to get that data, and the other thing that anything, and the other thing that would differentiate that from, you know, the the the cell phone metadata, whatever at those points, you're dealing with a private company and the private company has rented builds airwaves by right? You know, they bid for those airwaves. So that's the and so this is the government directly gathering that information, which how does the court view that differently than the government intercepting what's going on in a private communication from a rented airway in a private transaction. You've made with the private company were you believe you have privacy where on the road, if it's the government directly doing it where they're scanning you in public with the court's view that is different. And I and I don't know. I I have more questions on this. Yeah. The man that filed this case in in Coral Gables, Florida, Raul Canosa, his lawyers making the case just as I said earlier, it's the equivalent of this technology now is the equivalent of police following you twenty four hours a day, anywhere. You're cargoes. Is that against the law? Police just following you. I don't mean going into your home or looking or searching your property just following you on roadways. No because. They they follow suspects all the time well in and that's the thing. Even if they don't suspect anything could they theoretically, I mean, typically, they would there would be no other purpose, but they can follow anyone as long as it's on roadways and they're not violating the fourth amendment there. If they're not doing any kind of search of your property, they're just following you. That's not against the law. Eight six six ninety redeye. In addition to being required by law.
