"At 10 Coleman dot com and check me out on Instagram at Cannes, Coleman. All right, let's get to the phones. Anything. We've already been having a blast today. We're gonna keep going with it. Jacob eyes joining us in New York City. The Big Apple. Anthony. Here he is, Jacob. How can we help? Hey there, guys. How are you? Good. Doing very well. So I'm 29 years old and I graduated college about six or seven years ago. My parents, they generally J generously offered to pay for my education and they took out student loans to do it. There's about 14,000 left in student loans, and I'm getting married next year and I wanted to know if I should pay off. My student loan before getting married or if I should continue to allow my parents to pay the minimums on my lawn. Time's a great question. I don't think there's a right a wrong answer in this situation. I mean, because I'm assuming that your parents said, like you said that they will pay for your education. On def They said that then there's nothing wrong with you making sure that they that they stick to them. But if you're in a place financially to where you can't go in ahead and just cut a check for $14,000, and it doesn't impact your future in your future, our wedding I was absolutely there's nothing wrong with that Neither, you know, and so I would do that if you let me ask Jake, What do you want to do? Are you wanting? Are you feeling like you want to bless your parents by paying the 14 off? Is that where you're leaning or not? Not necessarily more so that I didn't want I didn't know the debt was going Tio have Ah, create impact on me once I'm married. What is the dead is in your name and your parents name And so will they have an impact on your your credit situation? It is they will, because you're in debt credit ports on your parents Credit report. But as far as in if you have the means to pay it off, and it doesn't impact you Go ahead. If you're saying I don't do not have the means and I do not want to pay it off. You know, I mean, going ahead and make your parents or allow your parents to stick to Their words. So it's really up to you right now. But will it impact youand your credit and moving forward? Yes, it will. Good. So thank you for the call Jacob Art. Let's go now to Birmingham, Alabama. Daphne joins us there. Daphne. How can we help? Singing. Thank you for taking my call. I am 51. Onda as I was sitting here, Wait not realized today the anniversary of sod. Three year 30 years out from my divorce. Momo have four kids on three of them are still in school and college. I should say. Um, I have a good job. I work for the government and that I still have to work a second job to make ends meet. Um, very not very happy at all. And it's just No, too depressing job And then I'm always worn out because I'm working 60 hours a week, you know. You know, it's just tell us Listen to you guys are listen to this show off every day in the background at work thinking, how can I get out of this? And how can I make a lot of different stuff? And I'm not this way for the like, Have him off. Yeah. Yeah, well, first of all, we don't know. You know how many days we have none of us are promised tomorrow, but I would know, I know that I know you do. But my point is, you know, it's not about half your life being over. It's that. Hey, the next chapter of your life has yet to be written. And at 51, you're not too old to start writing new pages and write new chapters. And in some ways with the divorce, you've already been kicked out of the nest relationship wise and that you've got a new chapter there. And and so this is about figured out one of the steps that you need to take to get where you want to go. So so, Daphne, I want you to suspend all doubt about how old you are. How much life has gone by. I want you just to spend all fear failure. What others might say. And just for a moment, I want you to tell me what would you try? What would you do professionally if you could make the money you wanted to make. And you knew you couldn't fail. What would you try? What's that thing you've always wondered about? I've always been incontinent having to help people, especially people who have been through anything that I've been three that I definitely know about, you know, and I didn't have a heart for people and enable, But you know Who wouldn't be with those people be who had to pee. Then would you help in a counseling setting? Would you help in a Yeah, Probably Look how quickly you got into that one. So let's just play this out for a second, okay? Would you want to counsel couples that are struggling to keep their marriage together? Would you want to counsel people that have gone through substance abuse? Would you want a council kids? Who were those people you would most like to sit across from and help them dig out or help them avoid. Well married people here at home. Single parents, you know, single women who have already you know, and already do that In my small, great, you know, look atyou setting of church, so but so, really, it's that relationship and family counseling. And so so then you look at that. You OK? What would it take to get there? Oh, case of four Simple questions. I understand, But I want to paint a picture for you. Okay? So what do you make right now? With both jobs? You've got your government job Plus your second job. What do you make Ballpark I make about 40 at the main one and make another 65. Okay, so right about $47,000 Gross. Okay, right. And so for you to make ends meet, Are you able to cut expenses? Even Mohr? I can't just about all there is to cut. Okay, but you're 46. 1005 $100 in Birmingham. You're barely making ends meet, or are you in? Do you have major debt? Still that you're dealing with? I don't have him that the car to car payments and, um ah. Had some credit card get. Okay. Are you working Dave Ramsey's plan the baby steps to get out of there. That's what that well, why do you have two cars? One's mind and one's not daughters and your pain for both of them. Yes. How old.

"Tonight yes all of the rooms you personalities message of hope you're going to be clean up batter which means you're the strongest hitter and so we're gonna put you in there and let you hit out the park tonight and you know you speak all over America own money god Jim grandma's ways of handling money the same as Hogan Rachel or me and and yet ever each one of us have our own individual take on it you can't you came for those of you that don't know Anthony story came to us I was a youth pastor of a huge youth group that you have built yes with that wonderful church down in Jacksonville Florida yes Sir and so you and I of the four of us probably have the most preacher style of speaking we're we're the most preacher ask and are speaking style it accused of that on a TV show that day and let guys like you sounded like a preacher Lawson thank you thank you Sir but I mean there's something to that I think there's something about speaking in in church and and on the subject of god that that does teacher two years a little different metaphor approach when we're speaking delivering messages you're going to that tonight yeah I am I am Dave you're right you know one thing is preaches we're we're taught and we eventually learn how to use what happens to us in life and turn that into a powerful message to help whatever we're teaching and so I'm not give too much away for tonight's I really want people to watch it but last week U. Hogan a Rachel really did a phenomenal job talking and teaching American people what to do with their finances during this time said you know what let me just step back and I just be honest and transparent with people about something that happened with me last week I just a little sneak peek I went running day for the first time in my in in Columbia so Columbia the country here in the area and it was dark and I got a little nervous Columbia is out in the country the country right right right right right yeah the rule area rule yes Sir yes Sir but to treason landed on and so you know I'm I'm not the marrying cartel that does well I do so with Dave but you know what reading and and day to be honest I got a little nervous because it was dark you know I'm scared of gears I'm scared of snakes is coming out and that there's no light but Dave I seen something in the midst of my writing and I want the people to tune in tonight because that thing just really gave me some words of encouragement for the people tonight to watch my message of hope this evening nine and it wasn't a UFO no it was not okay it was not a UFO no aliens no dear no messages from outer space no sound of ours no Sir but it was something that will bless the people I met a man a weapons check good good talk I've seen it obviously is your your incredible communicator so you guys be sure and tune in and Anthony o'neal on Instagram Facebook YouTube certainly at Dave Ramsey dot com and you can find all of our messages of hope by the way if you go to any of our sites but I for instance those of you watching this on YouTube if you scroll down just a little bit you'll see all the messages are open one if your if you're in on this YouTube on our YouTube channels we put them all on there so Rachel Cruz Chris Hogan Christy right Dr John Bologna Cannes Coleman now tonight's Anthony o'neill and so now Dave I definitely to say this parents get your kids to kids because I'm even talking to the young people as well tonight yeah yeah so get your kids put me friendly TV pull it up on YouTube you know I'm talking to young people where they are as well and how they are feeling so I definitely make sure that everyone young person child younger dealt parents watch it tonight and again Anthony is a speech in high school and college students more than probably anyone else in America right now yeah tens of thousands of them a month when we're working with right now we're all sidelined in terms of are visiting your town in speaking or we're all doing that digitally right now the only shot we got so but on the good stuff the other thing that's funny as after you're number one best seller debt free degree we kept getting a lot of questions okay that's great but I got student loan debt you have already before you wrote that free degree how do I get out and obviously Dave Ramsey Rachel Cruze Chris talking we've got books around here I'm getting out of debt but you were getting tons and tons of questions specifically in after the market's future podcast had a million downloads people are saying okay yeah that's great but I'm in debt yeah and I know it's a problem I know it's evil I know their student loan thing is out of control and so we've decided at Ramsey and we've done a couple of these already to do little home chapter books are about a chapter long chapter and a half long paranormal book yeah and this one I think is sixty four pages together I read one a different one the other day was thirty seven pages but we're calling quick reads yes Sir it's not a full book it's a quick read and it's called destroy your student loan debt yeah and David Sims already as I took a deep dive into our baby step to where we teach how to get out of debt using the debt snowball excluding your mortgage and so this book is for that individual who may not even really be familiar with the baby steps you know and we just really do a deep dive into it we even addressed in the book I talk about my thoughts on the student loan forgiveness and how I do not agree with it when is the best time and the only time to possibly refinance your student loans we answer all the questions about the.

"Seven four seven two five seven seven we're here everyday give us a call if you don't wanna get on the phone you can join on Twitter or Instagram at Cannes Coleman lot of people engaged on Instagram that that that platforms dawn notch and a by the way we do a post show Instagram life most days if I don't have to run something like a launcher something quickly I do a little ten minute kind of moment here you can ask questions via Instagram alive that's after every show every live show course wearing a different times and all these different markets but stay tuned Instagram and we we pop up there and let you know so so so what follows on Instagram you can also email us ask I can Coleman dock on the questions you to be straight forward because I can go back and forth asking can Coleman dot com is the email address and we get to that electronic mail back a couple times a week let's do it Joe let's open up kids electronic mail electronic mail you've got mail Victoria writes in I'm not planning on returning to work after the birth of my second child I want to tell my employer to give them adequate preparation time and time to train my replacement but I'm scared they'll fire me and I'll lose my company's generous maternity benefits which I want to use what do you recommend well the Tory I get a taste of the right now I'm no attorney I'm no employment attorney but I can tell you this if they fire you because you tell them that you are not gonna come back after having a child you got yourself a real nice case we're not gonna do that now they may come up with some creative way to let you go I guess it's always possible I I try to keep things as honest as transparent as I can't light when I receive a question like this but the fact of the matter is the what I'd like you to do is is is actually consult a this will be worth a one time phone call with a employment attorney to get the legal advice what could happen so I really want to refer you to somebody like that I wish I had somebody on the top of my mind I don't but again that's what we're that's a worthy consultant tree that you should pay but I'll just tell you this you know look if you're not planning on returning to work but you still want them to have adequate preparation time to train why don't you come back once you come back for two or three months so that you can train that person you know it's a short time a short short term plan but that would be one way around this Hey I'm back and I don't think I want to stay long term but I'm back long enough because I really want to replace me help you replace me in training and and they go out that way so I'm just gonna put that out there is I think a viable option but consult a an employment attorney absolutely you know what your options are and I don't think that you should have that fear all is gonna Daniel Hey can now what are some good questions to ask in an interview with a potential employer to help determine if the team I would be joining is healthy in all aspects that that would entail I'm okay a couple quick questions practical questions hate how would so if you're talking to the potential employer theoretically you're talking to a leader or multiple leaders one maybe the hiring manager an HR the other probably the leader of that team that you would be joining and so in both situations I would ask this question how would you describe the culture of this specific team what's third what's what how do they how do they interact what's the feeling just leave it at that don't open the opportunity that you're looking for something negative just throw that question that's such a rare question everyone's gonna look really impressive number two that's what you want you want to hear them describe that team well the you know they're fun loving team or well they're kind of quietly sick themselves yeah that kind of a then I would ask the question of the people on the team that are really winning why are they winning and I think those two questions are going to yield some good things and then what I would do is I would I would try to find a connection to somebody that company whether it be through an acquaintance or three or four degrees of connections you can get in touch with somebody that's on that team or somebody that used in the company that you want to work for and ask them the same thing tell me about that teams is a healthy team because somebody its in house is gonna really spill the beans they're gonna tell you so that's what I would do ask you can call in dot com is the email address thank you so much for your emails eight four four seven four seven two five seven seven is the number by the way before we go back to the calls I don't talk about this resource very much on my show and I should so I ask the team to give me a reminder I won't talk about my newsletter we've got a robust over a hundred thousand people I believe and growing on our can Coleman show newsletter he comes out twice a month it comes out on Monday that's on purpose because I know that those of you who are your dream job you list on the show that Mondays have a tremendous amount of negative emotion attached to so I want to help you as you start a new week especially if you're not where you want to be but even if you are where you want to be in your you want to just thrive this newsletter is great for your Mondays comes out twice a month or every other Monday if you will add dot I designed this newsletter to be something that I would read which means I have the attention span of a gnat okay I really do from all over the place so if I'm gonna subscribe to newsletter you better give me the meat you know there's an old commercial back in the eighties that the I'm gonna date myself right this little lady she drove up in a drive through the window drive through she go where's that made you know like you been smoking you know some camel lights for half an hour before she got to the drive through it blew up was great right but that's all that's how I am if I want to sign up for some kind of reoccurring thing I wanna where's the beef man so our newsletter looks about you know if you watch me on on came on the you to jail it it's it's it's it's about two and a half inches I tell the team get to the point man let's given the content and we give it to you give it to you available to you is actually free of course so multiple ways to engage and share with people you know need this message it's very important let's get about the business of helping you and helping others be who you were created to be eight four four seven four seven two five seven seven is the number Darcy's online in Reno Nevada Darcy on the can call in show and I'm so excited to talk with you well I am excited to talk to you how can I help okay well I'm fifty six young yes yes I like that thank you yeah I love to work I've been fortunate enough to not to have to work full time just good circumstances and that sort of thing but I also find myself looking for variety and flexibility in a job I have a job right now which I loved it allows me to try to make my own hours help people very flexible but I get bored easily so I'm wondering if there's anything out there that you know that's almost like temporary work a week here a month there six months that sort of thing that gives me the variety that I'm looking for and the flexibility well the answer to that question is unequivocally yes those jobs are out you got a look for you know sure but they don't mind a lot but you asked me direct question the answer is yes but what you're looking for something else for me are you looking for specific suggestion I think that's what you're looking for always yeah okay guide me well here's the deal so I want to know because you said you like your job right now but you're getting bored so let's let's dive in there on the answer to what you're looking for is partly in this current situation so you said you like it tell me what you like about it what I liked about it is the flexibility well I'll tell but the job itself what is it that you like about the job I know you like flexibility but what do you like about or if there's anything at all or do you not like anything at all except for this flexible I like I get to meet people all the time I'm a people person so that's a plus I'd really love to get into something with I love live music I love country music I've done a couple of award shows you know behind the scenes kind of PA kind of stuff I love but the stability there is do you know I'm I'm the I'm nervous about leaving this position because I have health insurance four oh one K. that sort of thing Paul are you full time in this job I'm full time yet well that are full time to be able to get better then what is flexibility that's what I don't understand help me what does that mean if your full time what is flexibility in this current role me I mean I don't have set hours I can work in the middle of the night if I wanted to not that I do work weekends what do you do I am a volunteer volunteer coordinator for hospice okay show I recruit train and retain volunteers so I can I can you know I can of my friend the schedule is very flexible not respect I like it for some time okay now let's keep going on this passion you said you love interacting with people you love music what else do you love to do projects short term variety of things give me the variety of things that you love to engage in work I could do research and investigation you know whether it's Google searches and I I like putting puzzles together that way you know finding out you know investigation type work research in anything creative okay now tell me about that what does that mean anything creative give me a real example of creative work that you love I like well would be award shows that I was able to do and I've done some volunteering with some local stage production by like the stage work I like you know maybe something about the same I not that I need to be famous but I I like that that type of work where you're putting production together as a production assistant okay all right okay couple of things here I think you need to start researching in Reno which I cannot believe there's a lot of these places Joe you know with the the the the the environment the talent like you need to be just searching production companies people that are lighting stage music equipment you know sound equipment lighting equipment there's a search I'm telling you there's plenty of those places where you know local venues are using them you know I don't know if conventions are coming in the Reno but I mean there's a lot of production companies where they're providing all of that and and so yeah I'd be looking into that but then I would be looking into of people role there so maybe you're coordinating with clients because right now you're centrally coordinating a volunteer force for this hospice and the only thing you really mention that you dug about that is it that you're you're you're dealing with people and so you enjoy coordinating people because it allows you to talk to people so I see you being a customer facing person maybe all offer a production company maybe that's part of your role and then you're on site you know maybe you're helping in the operation side of things I just think you need to look and see what production companies are in Reno and what they're hiring for and get connected to some people practice my proximity principal get around people that are doing production work get in some place like me what I did yeah I did that sort of thing and I was able to come out to your lovely area of out well in Tennessee yeah national do a couple award show than just connecting with the right people that's exactly what it takes right I know it's a you know what to do so here's the deal you're not looking for the part time gig you're looking for a full time gig with a production company that's doing the stuff all the time you're not looking for the two hours were a very unstable so that's one option okay I think the research angle I think you have to ask yourself what I'd rather be customer facing working in production around music or live events something like that versus doing research because quite opposite yeah a hundred they're very very different but you know those are the things you listed as passions and I think you will it up when you talked about the production world you know the lighting I mean I got a friend of mine from high school who runs a very successful lighting company they're doing lighting arrays of four weddings I mean big corporate events there nonstop they can't hire people fast enough they get so much work so I think for a new Darcy it is the only it is leading into both of these are looking into if I was going to do research all day every day well what I wanna research what about passion about as you said you like flexibility and I think what you're really saying is you get bored and I think if you're doing a new production a new show a new of it all the I am a software engineering student in a small school up in their children. and I'm going to a career expo. just wondering what the what I can do with my resume well to like generalize that you give it to several different companies consider having one specific one for each company yeah well I'm very glad you asked that we have an actual a free PDF at Cannes Coleman dot com that I want you to download issues were done with this phone call because what we're gonna do is is we walk you through in this PDF it's very easy to read and easy to follow we're gonna teach you how to flip your resume because stuff and everybody in the world except for people go to kindle can Coleman dot com have basically the same resume you could throw a hula hoop around and they all look basically the same and therefore your resume is not going to stand out your resume is gonna look like everybody else is then then here's what everybody does with the resume that looks like everybody else's Anthony. then they just send them in online and they just hope that they hit the work lottery it's the same as playing the lottery here is chances of getting hired that way is this exam and can your resume PDF is actually working so seven I I highly recommend that a lot of my students who I made two or absent them to King Kong his website and a lot of them say that the resume has worked and I've seen proven results for it so not just at him but listen America this is something you need to be passing downs not just yourself but you into your kids but again coming out calm right now and download this tool yeah the resumes only the first part stuff okay because I've said this many times I'll say it again today your resume is worthless without a relationship. I'm let it sit for a second your resume is worthless without a relationship attached to it here's what that means if you don't have a connection. to somebody in that company that you want to get hard for so you're thinking you're going to this job fair in your goal can there's a bunch of companies well you got to think this way if you're gonna ever hand out a resume you want that resume to say the very top it we walk you through this in the PDF that we just talked about but you want a relationship it doesn't have to be a one to one relationship meaning your parents could know somebody that works at that company or your parents could no somebody really well could be your uncle could be your dad's best friend who didn't know somebody works at one of these companies so what we do is we got dad calls his pal this is a my son get ready graduate wants to work here maybe once in turn here Hey would you submit his resume to this person well I don't know Larry but I know what department Larry's in I could find Larry's office because lawyers in the building next to my building and so we get somebody walking in your resume and saying Hey here's the resume of a sharp young kid name stuff and he's got the qualifications I know. hit why no one of his dad's best friends and he speaks highly of this family they're a outstanding family the community a great kids this kids probably good culture fit see now that how we get a phone call yeah and so we worked the relationship tree how many connections do you need to make to where you get to a point where somebody can vouch for you and they had your resume and that's how we get a phone call she could have a relationship attached to the resume or else it's just a brochure and your nameless faceless I do not getting a phone call that works not just for stuff but it works for the rest.
