"Here's another story I want you to know last week I told you about an unusually dedicated Winnipeg blue bombers fan declared back in two thousand one that he would not put on pants until his team won the Canadian football league's great well this Sunday with the team taking on the Hamilton tiger cats in the championship game in Calgary Matthew is closer than ever to tossing aside his short I spoke with him to see how he was feeling ahead of this fateful weekend so Chris take us back to two thousand one your beloved blue bombers were favored to win the grey Cup what was going through your mind at the time and how did this wager come to be yeah watch Monday Night Football at that one of the local establishment and it was late November like it always is for gray cap and it was a nice here so I was still wearing shorts and we were talking to a couple of the players that were playing for the bombers the following Sunday in the grey Cup we had a record of fourteen and four and I think Calgary was eaten Tanner so this was going to be a no brainer the next day somebody said to me well how how long are you wearing those short and I cannot tell the bombers win the grey Cup and as you know there's no such thing as in the sport and they went out and lost on the following Sunday and have been back twice but I mean the kinds this.

"And i wanted to have a great opportunity to <hes> to compete for the starting job right away since i had wasted a year here at the junior college so i decided to go to washington for those reasons what was what was his pitch to you. Don's <hes> pitch because when i was up in seattle doing television up there you know he had just gotten a job. Bob and i'm just wondering how he pitched you to get you to come there. I think the big thing was he told me in my mind. That's all i really wanted. Was i was gonna get an opportunity to play quarterback. I was going to get an opportunity to compete as soon as i got there which means within you know intuitively practices because i was <hes> since i was the first year guy couldn't gordon in spring ball <hes> but i was going to be enrolled in the for the first time in august so august was when to a day started and he said i would have an opportunity to start or or yeah the opportunity to compete for the starting job from day one so that's what really made my eyes light up. I might have a chance to play right away. They had a senior who was going to be the starter carter. The great success that you had at the university of washington which certainly was highlighted when you took the underdog huskies to the rose bowl victory over the powerhouse michigan. Did you think at that time then okay now. I'm gonna get my chance to be a quarterback in the n._f._l. No question about it. I felt like if i did what i was <hes> supposed to do at the college level playing in the in the pac eight at that time playing against type of teams that i was playing against stanford and u._s._c. and cow and that that <hes> i would hopefully get a chance to at least east <hes> get an opportunity to play quarterback in the n._f._l. So that that was kind of my thinking that was my goal and and it started even further back then that was my dream and that's kind of where the title of the book came came from is because <hes> a young kid growing up my dream was to play in the national football league and when that dream got shattered. I mean what did that do to your psyche and your self confidence sworn well you know i was really hurt when i came out of college because of the fact that i had was packed player of the year i was rose bowl most valuable player and i i thought that i would deserve an opportunity to try and and show what i could do as a quarterback but again they want to switch my position so the canadian football league was a with an opportunity opportunity for me to play quarterback and i looked at it is okay if one door is gonna close on me which was the n._f._l. Right now then there's another door opening. I'm gonna take that opportunity and again and try and make the most of it. It was kind of saint philosophy i use when i went to junior college to get ready to go to major college. Maybe i'm going to have to prove myself a little bit more but i'm not gonna get discoveries. I'm gonna keep working hard and that's what i did and again. I think a lot of that comes from from my background from my mom just wasn't going to give up. I'm going to assume this and if i'm wrong about a warrant please correct me but by going to canada it kinda almost saved you in a sense because i can understand how you would be shattered and it would put you in a tough situation but you you got a chance to go up to canada where you probably didn't have to deal with that much blatant racism. I'm assuming maybe you didn't have to deal with any of it at all and you got the chance to play the position that you love it. Was that a saving grace for you into solar. There's no question it was a blessing in disguise ron that <hes> i got a chance to go out. There and play quarterback developed my skills and again yes..

"I think it's gonna actually grow the interest <hes> now what are the the consequences of that is another question <hes> but i do think interest will grow. I think anything that grows the industry is a good thing and we'll figure it out and evolve and adapt to you know what we think is best. We only have a minute left but i always like like to ask an athlete or somebody involved with sports when they think back on their career or on their life <hes>. Is there any one thing that's kind of ingrained in their mind forever. What would that be for you. Andrew andrew <hes> my first game just stepping on the field. I worked so hard to get there and there were so many times i never thought it would be possible so i remember playing in my first preseason the game and they'd even new york and you know just tears coming down my face because i couldn't believe that i finally made it so moments like that. I try to cherish. I try to keep the whole economy as i'm working through. Everything and just you know remember in the back of my mind moments like that of the reason why i do everything andrew. I want to thank you for your time and also for your story. It's one that's very enlightening and i hope it's one that a lot of people not just athletes think about as they go down there life path as well. "The only opportunity that really came was was one with an n._f._l. Team but you know it was something that sparked whenever the domino effect and you never know which raindrops starts to flow because you know even that one tryout <hes> was a catalyst for things to come many virtually all land to be in the in the national football league not making it into the national football league initially and doing a couple years in the n._f._l. In retrospect was that the blessing absolutely i i i love my time playing the canadian football league because it taught me how to be professional <hes> and more than that i needed more development limit to be quite honest so i never got the opportunity early on the n._f._l. Teams in development but for me personally again. It taught me everything that i was used. <hes> <hes> to my advantage gotten a lead by playing in canada by playing with other grow main playing football and a high level with coach. You know that is used to the n._f._l. Could teach me route cost at the things that i needed to know. Once i finally did get the opportunity and i think the reason why i lasted so long i was very interested in one of your quotes to you said investment in people people is something i've learned from my coaches. Tell me about that. Yeah i think once you get to that level and there are people who are talented talented <hes> everywhere you turn <hes> the coaches that i've seen that had the most success <hes> would be looking at the people that they understood you know appreciated and cherished the the opportunity as much as they did because ultimately you know a coach is only as is good as players perform and he's going to be able to rest easier at night if he goes with the the the players that he knows are emotionally <hes> ah invested and prepared as they possibly can be that might be sacrificing on the side a little bit might be somebody more talented <hes> but a coach will always go the guy who has the most like helping him keep his job and and you invest in those players and you believe in those players and you help chore those players because the better they become you understand the potential you can get out of them and i think you know learning from that side and putting in putting on this i <hes> i think it helps them in the workforce as well that you you know people who appreciate their work and people who are dedicated to the work and being prepared and and wanting to you know make you look as good as says you know you want them to look for giving the opportunity i think the sky's limit for those people and managers as you know on the company side of things you invest in those people you help them mature. <hes> you hope everything you can possibly dictate to help them reach their potential <hes> because that's what fireworks tell me a little bit about coach shannahan and how he impressed you so because you talk very candidly about his is effort and what he did for you yeah i i think coach shanahan was special and i always said it's because he would not only played to the strength of his players. You know i've been in situations where it was like. Hey we want a receiver receiver who six four it can do jump balls and you know all they have with me sitting at five seven. It's like hey i can't i can't do that and there would be coaches who would not been on on what they wanted for their offense which is fine. That's one way to do things coach shannahan especial he would look at the personnel he has and he would literally change dictators often hyphen based on the strength of the guy that around what that did was and i only made everyone feel great going into games and and feel confident about the job they needed to accomplish but also he would run the offense and put the goals for his offense around the goals of the individual players that we're all going linear motion that way. We're all fighting for the same thing. Thanks oh for his offense to be affected you know he wanted me to have a thousand yards because he knew i wanted to have a thousand yards. He wanted to running back to have it thousand-year-old eating because you running runningback wanted to have a thousand yards and you know.

"Rolling into the weekend yeah we'll check more on our travelers weather coming up here we were just got a chuckle in about the Canadian Football League games that are played on the bigger field like they put the plan a hundred ten yard field versus a hundred but Thursdays NFL game preseason game in Canada between the Packers and the raiders I was on a shortened field eighty yards I almost comic eighty yard field is okay I guess they had some sort of issues now with the field a spokesman for the NFL says tonight's game is being played on a reconfigured field the the field at the mandatory practices for the maintenance of services for the NFL games based on an inspection yesterday but concerns arose today surrounding the area where the blue bombers goal post were previously located the ten yard line will now function as the goal line at this game in lieu of kickoffs in lieu of kick off the ball will be placed at the fifteen yard line just Hey so I guess it's lucky it was all pre the bottom we would own another trial down in South America somewhere I mean some of these some of these your designs are even gotten aren't even going to have a steering wheel or and what not that's so that that one is going to be modified but right and the only thing they give me a did you know that they they they they they talk about quick put mayor alone and put the focus screens up there where you can look at it like all I've done a real war but don't know that they ever heard we already got another damn distracted and it took him in the deal anyway it's like trying to buy the imported salmon arm but it is it is a boggles me that none of the people interviewed hello she then after that one question they did a boulder dam but the other thing I want to say forget all the areas at least they're trying to make some headway all man hours of service you know did three hour deal why did you do say you know is safe parking comes into the statement that you drive into town and you get no cruel pocket so you got a balk at a truck stop all around but we have you don't sleep but you get up the next morning you start you you know you start the clock double with the customer and he says well you know we're not exactly related well yeah but go ahead with that late that that they gave you a three hour window thank you can kill that help those upon which you know I'm I'm all for it that is thirty minutes damn fine they done nothing on it right back to square one and we're going to play with it everybody I talked to a Washington yeah we don't get rid of that thirty minute by well they didn't get rid of it then then they pop that well the law we can't get rid of it it was written in under that name twenty one so you know I mean they did it they did give us some hail right you know you go to customer Starkey and you kill it get that into a ball take a look at that go to sleep they come and knock on the door and then you realize that you know you got a little they "It's been good for me. Time. To do because she'll. I so I love football coach game. You know it's great to be on the field. Whatever. And that there's, there's nothing wrong with that. But it's his first he says it in one of the quotations today says I love football is his first love. And that's what a what led him to presiding over a football team. One of the best football teams in the country with Baylor in overlook in insane amount of accusations of rape, gang rape. And not report any of it to the police. That football's has got. And that's why even after receiving millions and millions of dollars in a settlement from Baylor. When he he still wants to work and coaching football because I love his God. And that's why he tried to take a job with Mississippi. As an assistant coach. But then when they said heck no after the controversy. He kept going. And then he tried to take a job at another college kid, remember I was in the west of the of the northwest. I think they were going to hire them, and then they set up no too much controversy. And then when he was going to try to take a job for the NFL the Canadian Football League they were going to do it, and then he said, not too much controversy. And so the man going after his God with a little g still has not learned his lesson. And so, I mean, how desperate you have to be. I'm not trying to ridicule. The guy I'm telling you affect how desperate you have to be to fly and live in Italy. In freaking Italy for a foot high school football coach job, you hear me, how desperate, do you have to be to move when you are the coach of one of those, you know? He went in there with a bad attitude. He thought he'd go in there and inherited the starting position because it was his God, given right? He didn't try. You didn't take it. Seriously. He continued to fun at late night. Right. And it came back to bite him. And it's still continuing to buy him. He get kicked out of a Canadian Football League. The Canadian football embarrassing. Is that you get kicked out of a league. Well, apparently he had some mandated sessions was saying trust and drug test. Let me tell you. I have some inside sources on that. And my inside sources have told me that he just quit going. He quit going to practices quit going to meetings each just gave up on the league and said, you know, what I'm gonna go back to the states, and I'm going to go try to make it in anything else. But this well, the af is a proving ground for quarterbacks. I think Garrett Gilbert who plays for the Jacksonville gear governor place for him. Yeah. I think so. Yeah. Steve Spurs has coach former Super Bowl champ care. Gilbert Garrett Gobert has a chance to get back in the league because he's playing very very well. Johnny has af af is really becoming a redemption story. It is it is. And I'm happy for Garrett Gilbert, and I hope he gets another chance with the NFL but for for for Johnny Manziel. It is just so. I think it's it's now on the stage minute sad. It's it's been sad. But now, it's just it's depressing. Because it's like the guy doesn't care. I consider him like the Justin Bieber of sports. He just doesn't care and he thinks he in March. Beat his own drum. But yeah, his drum isn't beaten these days Bieber who still have Zick has occurred doesn't he he does? "Radio the ESPN app and Sirius XM channel eighty Jason Fitz with you, you just heard a Johnny Menzel. He's been he violated a set of conditions to see. Fell set forth when he originally signed in may of twenty eighteen as a result he's been removed from the Canadian Football League. He's no longer a part of the elevates. And frankly, he can't be a part of the CF L at all. So Johnny Menzel out and in now available in the open market. He's already tweeted the world. I one of that coach Sherman, my teammates and CFL fans my time there reestablished my love for the game of football in the work that goes into it. I look forward to exploring new options within the United States strange. We don't know a lot of details. We violated something. But we don't know we tried to get a little insight on it. And for that. I'll turn to caves read the Elwood's GM who talked about the situation. This is what he said Mr. Manzo violated a condition of the agreement with the leak Mr. Manziel was given opportunities to be able to rectify the situation and chose not to. This was not a part of the. The understanding the league and our team put a lot of infrastructure in place for misdemeanors to be successful. And it did not work out the league in the team in Canada, put an infrastructure around Johnny Manziel, and he couldn't be successful. Let me say this to you af alliance as a lifelong die hard day one Memphis express fan still waiting to see my first victory. I would rather watch the terrible quarterback play that they've had their week in week out. Then see Johnny Manziel in in the lions jersey at any point stop everybody. Just stop and understand that the name recognition. You're getting from Johnny Manziel isn't the type of publicity you want anymore. Do you want to be respected as football league? Or do. You wanna be a circus sideshow? If you want to be a show you get yourself a sideshow quarterback if you wanna be a respective football league. You get yourself respected football players. You can't continue to give new credits. A new opportunities to somebody that does. Doesn't deserve it. I'll say the same thing to the XFL. All you knew leagues. Upstart. You need star power. You need star power. You don't need to be a mockery. That's what you become when you add Johnny Menzel. Dear brand, there's only so many times that he can step on his own feet. There's only so many times you can get in his own way. And there's only so many times he can get new opportunity from leagues that are thirsty for attention before you start to realize that this is the sort of attention that only makes everybody laugh at you realize you are not legitimate Spain and Fitz on ESPN radio tastes and fits with you. That's one side of the quarterback conversation. The other side of the quarterback conversation today and the other surprising name. We didn't think we'd be talking about is Nick foles because we believed that Nick foles was going to be franchised was going to be held onto. And that frankly, I thought Nick foles it'd be dangled out. There is as sort of an enticing piece for a team all the way into the NFL draft. And that's not what happened. The eagles. Let everybody know today that they're not going to franchise Nick foles making him a free agent now. And this is the the funny part to me everybody wants to try to apply value. Now, it is real it is absolutely real that. There may not be a ton of teams out there that need a quarterback. That's a reality that Nick foles is facing. And I don't think it's you can look at this right now and say was certainty..

"At this point. There's nothing to say you can't coach white army coach or if football league there's Canadian Football League, nobody up there would mind it probably if he took a knee. Honestly, I mean, it's it's a more liberal inclusive environment in their professional sports up there. So it would make sense and it would fit with him. But he didn't want to go up there. He's thirty one years old. Right. So if he does coach he doesn't have to coach for a pro team, you could go to a college team if he really has a passion for football. But at this point, maybe his passionate, just activism, and why not own that? Which is great. I on his part awesome. I think though, he likes having the ability to stir the pot of potentially playing football again. But being denied when that's not really the case. Well, and here's another thing. The XFL will be starting next year. I believe WWE's Vince McMahon. Putting it back together. If I'm him, the smartest thing in the world is prob. Probably to find a way to sign Colin Kaepernick to a contract whether he's not any good anymore. Whether he is good people will still tune in. And that's a guy Vincent man who thrives on controversy. This is a guy who's made a career of creating a circus and getting everybody to tune in for it. It will just be how much money will call and ask for to just show up. Exactly. If any five ain't guess right now. It's a lot of money this. Yeah. This story probably is far from over as far as where Colin Kaepernick football career ends up. So coming up, we're talking pot holes a hyphen there has potholes talking about that coming up on seven hundred wwl w..

"Charles Davis. Our guy from Fox Sports joins us. Now does every single Thursday at eleven o'clock. Good morning. I don't buddy. I'm doing well. Good morning guys. Hope you're great. We are great. We just had the Chuck Pagano press conference, and he talked about wreaking havoc and how blessed to have this opportunity. What do you think? Chuck Pagano brings to the bears defense. Well, he brings a lot of obviously the veteran. Skills veteran knowledge coaching acumen. Great enthusiasm guy was a successful head coach for a while. There did did apples. And it wasn't just you know, when he got sick and Bruce Arians jumped in he had some good years there. Here's the thing. He's getting another opportunity after going through one of the worst things we could go through as being and make it through. Right. He survive Akeem. Yep. Yep. Man is fired up excited about the opportunity and absolutely understands. What he has the ball. And also understands he's in a position now where if you're not successful the finger immediately. It'd be pointed at him 'cause that's the tough part about taking over successful. Isn't it? Now, all of a sudden if there's any dip anything goes haywire. The first person look at changed up the vix gone to be a head coach and congratulated him. He's he's long deserve that Chuck jumps into what looks like an ideal situation. But now they've got to keep it humming and next year as you guys pointed out. It'll be tougher. But at the same time this is a very good bears defense, Charles. Let's get your take on whatever. NFL fan was talking about this week. We great theater for championships Sunday. Yes. But but there was the officiating. Yeah. Now, you've had plenty of time to decompress and think about it. Are you in the camp that wants to see some reaction from the league and have additional measures taken when it comes to replay? Or are you looking at it? More conservative lens. Yeah. I'm definitely much more conservative lens. I would've liked to have seen the league. I know that there was the phone call between Sean Payton and our river odd head of officiating after the ball game because Sean articulated it pretty quickly. I would love to see in the league issue, something, you know. I mean, it's one of those things that whenever any of us get in trouble. If we are in the celebrity spotlight, what is the first move towards redemption. The public apology. Tried and true. We all like comeback stories. We all like people who say. Yup. It was me. It was my fault. I'm sorry. I wish it hadn't happened. I will do my best to tonight happen again because that's human. And that's what we all live with every day. Someone love to see in the league issue something on that. Instead of sitting around saying, well, you know, maybe we should issue. Something about the myspace math. Look all those things are key. And all of them are important. We all know that. But the one the whole country talking about was the missed call on the pass interference. And I will tell you guys. I watched live. It looked bang bang immediately to me, and I really didn't blink until I saw the replay. Oh, we got a problem on our hands. Because once I saw the replay. It was pretty obvious that one he got there too early to tell the contact. But in the initial watching it, but depending on where the officials were and what their positioning was if very bang bang debate. So I'm not trying to defend them. I'm just telling you. What's your eyes? See what replay brings you or off in two different things in this case. We'll replay Broadus was it. There was two best. Call is very obvious. There's no defending it. And if bicials who who missed the call I will guarantee they wouldn't try to defend it. They're sitting somewhere in this great country of ours. Sick to their stomachs. And I don't know how they're going to get that taste out of their mouth. They're going to seek redemption the whole deal, but I would've loved to see the league issue. I think that would have gone a long way the second thing is please God don't bring me replay replay into pass interference. Because then I'm gonna say, well, how come you don't call holding with replay? They'd how come you don't call the offensive lineman? Who was backed up off the line of scrimmage deport off died for for the New England Patriots. How come we don't call that? We'll be there all night. I hate the fact the pace of play has already affected by replay. But understand this. I'm not a Mennonite. Right. I'm not going. I don't want to go back to replay. But I really don't wanna clog up the heck of a lot more. These poor guys are twisted every which way from Sunday trying to figure out what's reviewable. What's not already pass interference? All this other stuff. I know the Canadian Football League does it. I guess you can tell I am so not in favor of it. So not in favor. And one more time. I'm so not in favor of it. And I get where you're coming from. You mentioned the D Ford plan. I was talking to somebody from the chiefs. And he said it's accepted that if you're a big time defensive player Khalil Mack. Von Miller default may not be at their level. But it really good football player. He said if you're lined up in the neutral zone a little bit most of the time the side judge ago fifty five and he'll motion you back a little bit. But he said it just so happened the side judge was standing right near Bill. Ballot. Check. So he didn't say a word and they don't call it on the offense of lineman. So it ends up. The chiefs should have won the football game. And they don't what's your thought on that interaction. Well, it's funny. You brought that up because I'm in mobile for the senior bowl, and I actually grab some time with four NFL officials. None of who called the New Orleans game or the Kansas City game. Okay. Before guys who work in the league working full full schedule, the whole thing. All right. So we talked about the New Orleans play ad nauseam as you might imagine. We also talked about that play you about with Kansas City. And I asked him about that exactly what you're saying. And they're saying, here's what you here's what usually happens to a person, they said the same thing, we will definitely want to give you help and guidance. What we're looking for more than not is you turn your head towards us. Look at us. Because that's where receivers do. Right. Every time you break the huddle receivers go out, and I motioned motion to the official don't they and my aunt Sodom off right and official them. Now, they want you to turn your head and give them a chance is there like that deep into the ballgame? Now that you're on your own, but it's up to you to make sure you're in that spot because they don't want to throw that flag. They're not looking to get you. But they also can't interject themselves that deep into now whether the guy next bell chicken, the problem or not, of course, that becomes the story. Because of who he standing next to I really believe my officials at talked to be much more. It's on you, just turn your head say, yo. And they'll give you a signal. Good. Good. I'm down to my good or might not good. And just remember for the patriots. Having the off at the faculty backed up into the backfield. There should have been a flag. That means we would have had offsetting flags and the interception didn't happen. Anyway. And we would have come back and replayed that down knows what would have happened. Then. I mean, we can never tell. But that's how about a whole thing went down now from Kansas City fan. Obviously, I'm upset. I feel like a number of calls went against them. You know, they got some calls in their favor. But it seemed like the bigger ones went against him. But of course, doing the patriots conspiracy thing comes kicking out. But the bottom line is they had the opportunity to stop them. They didn't. But what a what an incredible second half by the Kansas City office. Andy Reid is caught so much flack over the years that you guys know for not adjusting in playoff games. No one can look at that tape and say they didn't adjust and hit New England with some big time plays in the second half. They gave Kansas City every opportunity to win. It was pretty impressive, but they didn't really adjust defensively to the defensively all year long. Unfortunately, Bob, Bob, Sutton, lost his jobs, and I've done coach played against coach Sutton in college. Right. He was head coach at army. Let's just kind of stay and broadcast. Some of the army games along the way. Not don't cook. Something a long time having credible respect for him. But I don't think for a second that even if Kansas City won the Super Bowl that he was coming back a D coordinator next year, if somehow Tennessee won the Super Bowl, they would have let him they would have been asked to retirement. But when they didn't win the Super Bowl he was gone 'cause they haven't adjusted for the last three years on defense..

"I think the numbers tell you that has a little bit. But I can't I don't be huge drop off. But that's just me personally just wanted to hear your thoughts. You look their schedule you sometimes look at your schedule. Appreciate the call Sam you look it's going to be a tough game. And then when you get to what their quarterback San Francisco. I thought was a way tougher game on the road. There's no Garoppolo. There's no Matt Brita. It's a different team than you expect you never know who you're playing, but they played them tough. Yeah. Well, they win by four. Yeah. I mean, so it was it was definitely a a scribe. It was a battle to win that game. But my point is you never know who you're playing you look at the schedule today a year ago, you went oh, boy, Jacksonville that's going to be a tough game four and twelve the bottom line is they're going to have a tougher schedule next year than they did this past no question, and they're gonna face better quarterbacks usually with the tougher schedule than they did last year. Quarterbacks that will probably not throw it to you as much as they did last year. We've always talked a little bit when it comes to turnovers that there is a degree of luck involved to that. And look they were number one in that department. I don't think it's going to be huge slippage. But to think that it's a stain -able each and every year, I think is is a little foolish. All right. Charles davis. Our guy from Fox Sports joins us. Now does every single Thursday at eleven o'clock. Good morning. I doing buddy I'm doing. Well. Good morning guys. Hope you're great. We are great. No one can look at that tape and say they didn't adjust and hit New England with some big time plays in the second half. They gave Kansas City every opportunity to win. It was pretty impressive, but they didn't really adjust defensively to the pay. Just the defensively all year long. Unfortunately, Bob, Bob, Sutton, lost his jobs, and I've known coach. So I played against coach Sutton in college. Right. He was head coach at army. Let's just Tennessee. Stay and that broadcast some of the army games along the way, not don't coach something a long time having credible respect for him. But when they didn't win the Super Bowl he was gone 'cause they haven't adjusted for the last three years on defense. Their stock in trade is winning with pass rush and takeaways and the pass rush was there this year. They were what tied for the first in the league with fifty two. Yeah. But the number of takeaways has declined over time. So guess what? People shove them shove them around. And that's why you go back to early in the ball game seven nothing. Second and goal. What were they on the two yard line? I thought one time the patriots got too cute. Because you want your offense of Lima to feel great about themselves. Let them dominate a defensive front all the way down field. Running the ball. And then stick it in the end zone. You will have swagger and chessy dudes in front of you the rest of the game that fake fake and throw it in the end zone. I know why you got Brady. Trust him. That's going to have to once in a blue moon. But I'm just telling you the psychology of running over someone is big in the NFL speaking any college any football game. They should let them run that ball in. And they would have in my estimation. It was second and goal. They would take taking three cracks and ran it in and that offensive line. They would have been gold the rest of the game. I just thought they got to cute, and they helped dot Kansas City there. And that's a big time play by the linebacker. The Pro Bowl is going on. You're at the senior bowl. Pro Bowl is going up bears have seven guys air because Khalil Mack is out with an injury. What does this do for that football team to have Mitchell Trubisky and six of his teammates there? I think is really good because you get respect around the league when you represent, and you know, what else happens the guys who are there. Remember who was there with them? And that's how voting goes, you know, when it comes close, they remember people they were around they were people that Representative with them before because trust me on this when it's the day to vote for the Pro Bowl. Those guys are not sitting around, you know, treating it like. The SAT's. Okay. They're trying to get in their clothes and get the heck out of there and go do whatever it is. They wanna do. That's why they write down the same names urine. And you're out invariably. There's an adage in the NFL, and it is true today as long as a player, you go to your first Pro Bowl probably a year after you should have. Because you gotta get on the map with everyone. And you go to your last Pro Bowl a year after you should have because people still remember your name this being at the Pro Bowl this year because get all those guys on the map. They'll remember their names and not those who are not Khalil Mack. And that will help them in the future. Here's the other part. Mitchell Trubisky is around the best of the best right now. He gets the chance to feel that embrace that learn from it. Listen, observe all those other things that go along with it. Okay. And I think that does nothing but help the growth of a young quarterback kinda like those quarterbacks who when they're not in the playoffs. They go to playoff games and feel the atmosphere. So they know what they're dealing with when they actually get the planet themselves. Charles Davis from FOX joins us on cap and company for his weekly. "NFL thinks they're so superior over every other league that they're not gonna take your idea and bring it over you get what I'm even that stupid too, though, if you don't you don't you don't wanna take a good idea. Just because it ain't yours that seems dumb. Yep. That's the that's the NFL. Like, I know what you're doing. But this is the way we do things over here. You know what? I mean. I just that's the way they are or else they'd be putting guys in motion like to see if before look, I it is what it is. I'm good with it. I like I said I thought the Rams got hosed on a bunch of calls including one on the drive before. So for me. What's good for the goose is good for the gander? So let's go. Atlanta Ramsey go into the Super Bowl. You know, what I mean like, I'm good with that result. But I can see where this will potentially institute some sort of change. And I. That you know, separately. If they choose to not institute that rule because it's a Canadian Football League rule. That's silly. Well, you gotta remember this too though. It's going to take time it won't happen tomorrow. Right. The competition. Because remember the rule they tried to implement member. When we're in outrage in the preseason. Oh this helmet to helmet contact right? Oh, does is going to change the game. Yeah. They call him. Fifteen your phone when you lower your helmet, right? We heard about that. Yeah. No. You're a mess. I'll Cory Littleton put that thing yesterday on John. He did go ahead. It must suck though. Because Sean Payton the saints head coach is a part of the committee. Yeah. Yeah. So Murray Jeff Fisher was head of it for a long. Yeah. So that doesn't help you in any way. Actually, clearly that isn't help coming up next. We got what's trending, including some Laker news that you're going to want to stick around for. We'll get to that. And some we got the actual numbers. I was way off on the numbers on this Dame on these games yesterday. We'll have that for you. Some Laker news some NFL news. And of course, the Lakers maybe prying someone away to add to the roster. We'll tell you who in a second sit down show here on ESPN LA Kirk Morrison hanging out with us. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. The Rams are going to the Super Bowl. And of course, your home for the Super Bowl is right here. ESPN LA seven ten is the Rams we are the home of the Rams and the Rams are going to the Super Bowl shutout to our folks who came out yesterday to the dudes brewing company in Torrance. We were there for the watch party. I was there Trudell was there. Lot of people showed up plays with slam place. Was packed. Brought family the kids that dogs. Everyone was out there. Having a good time. And I thought our promotions team did a great job hook people up taking care of people with tickets and whatnot. We gave it had all sorts of giveaways, but I'm always impressed and humbled by the amount of people that show up to the events for this radio show and this radio station, but specifically involving us here on this radio show. "I mean, I call with the rejects like, look, here's the thing. You have to decide how you want to do this right either you review it all or you don't review it? You know what I mean? Like this thing where we can pick and choose that makes it way more confusing, and that's where people freak out because you're like, well, how can you? How can you review this not review that? And that's what you have most of the acrimony. What makes the challenges and by the way, the Canadian Football League you can challenge pass interference calls. They had forty of those instances shut up to Chris Berman who was on there yesterday, we Keyshawn and Tom Jackson after the game on ESPN. And Berman pointed I think it was forty one instances in this that they had that come up with a challenge pass interference in twenty of them were reversed. Yeah. The NFL has to look at it. But at the end the day, it goes back to what I said earlier, the NFL thinks they're so superior over every other league that they're not gonna take your idea and bring it over you get what even that stupid too though. If you don't you don't you don't wanna take a good idea? Just because it ain't yours that seems dumb. Yep. That's the that's the NFL. Like, I know what you're doing. But this is the way we do things over here. You know what? I mean. I just that's the way they are. Or if they'd be putting guys in motion like to see if. Yeah. Before look I it is what it is. And I. I think that you know, separately. If they choose to not institute that rule because it's a Canadian Football League rule. That's silly. Well, you gotta remember this too though. It's going to take time it won't happen tomorrow. Right. The competition committee. And. Because remember the rule they tried to implement member. When we're in outrage in the preseason. Oh this helmet to helmet contact right? Oh, does is go to change the game. They call him. Fifteen your phone when you lower your helmet, right? We heard about that. Yeah. No. You're a mess. I'll Cory Littleton put that thing yesterday on John. He did go ahead. It must suck though. Because Sean Payton the saints head coach is a part of the committee. Yeah. Yeah. Sober. Jeff Fisher was head of it for a long. Yeah. So that doesn't help you in any way. Actually, clearly that isn't help coming up next. We got what's trending, including some Laker news that you're going to want to stick around for. We'll get to that. And some we got the actual numbers. I was way off on the numbers on this game on these games yesterday. We'll have that for you. Some Laker news some NFL news. And of course, the Lakers maybe prying someone away to add to the roster. We'll tell you who in a second sit down and show here on ESPN LA Kirk Morrison hanging out with us. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. The Rams are going to the Super Bowl. And of course, your home for the Super Bowl is right here. ESPN LA seven ten is the Rams we are the home of the Rams and the Rams are going to the Super Bowl shutout to our folks who came out yesterday to the dudes brewing company in Torrance..

"Like, I thought that was only in like pop Warner. Right. I thought that was in like literally baseball. We're what was it a protest right playing under protest. Yes. It's still there has been games that I've been played at a protest. I don't when I was in literally we did that before, but he could actually reverse the game results. Like he had literally say the saints won that game. They're going to the Super Bowl. He has the power courting to rule seventeen section to article three. But the NFL will never do that never never do because because the D integrity of the game is too much. And I think what hap-. Is to the officials had a bad day yesterday. And the one thing about it was it was a day in which all games were watched nationally relied men. There's there's fifteen to twenty million people watching the league Alfred's championship the Super Bowl the most watched events in sports right to where every play every call. You know, everything will be criticized and look that you know, four or five different way. I mean there was some calls yesterday in the game. That was you know, weird in the chiefs patriots game. I'm sitting there. And remember the Eshelman did he touched her? Did he not touch it on the on the punt return? And you're seeing the ball looked like it may have touched his thumb, and then they called it a muffed and chiefs have the ball than a review of for five minutes. I actually went up and went to go to a bathroom break and came back, and he's still we're doing it. So this was a situation where the officials yesterday they have a tough job and. I I don't subscribe to ever be an official at all. Because it is a difficult job. But that's the human element that the NFL wants to keep within the game. They wanna keep the human element of making calls on the field. Hopefully review can change some calls, but they don't want this to be a review fest the NFL game for faster than they ever have been this year. Get getting right though. Like getting a right doesn't matter. I mean, I call with the jets like, look, here's the thing. You have to decide how you want to do this right either you review it all or you don't review it? You know what I mean? Like this thing where we can pick and choose that makes it way more confusing, and that's where people freak out because you're like, well, how can you? Colts' Andrew Luck takes 'big step' in return from injury

"Andrew luck is actually playing tonight for the Indianapolis Colts play against Seattle opening him to have a Twitter. Account I don't know if Andrew luck houses down it would take a waste of time that block. Anybody he has better things to, do but I. Digress but he's actually out there right. Now the colts have the ball inside Seattle's, thirty seven yard line facing a fourth down in. One I'm glad to be wrong because I still wonder if he was going to start the season and be under center for. Week. One I'm thrilled to be wrong because my Andrew luck, fan I enjoy watching him play and I miss them playing out. There I know colts fans missed and playing because that seems a lot better with. Him then without, him I'm not telling anybody any kind of news, here but just seeing him out there spraying the ball around being do dishes when he decides to run getting, down It's really really cool to, see a guy out there that I did not think that we're. Gonna see it all in the preseason or definitely to start the season when it. Came the week, one you also had some people wondering why are, they playing Andrew luck here in preseason game number one when the dress rehearsal is until preseason game number three He hasn't played folks in nearly two, seasons, so as many reps as that. He can get back to shake in some of that off -solutely I think it was a smart move to have. Him, out there and get as many reps as. He possibly can because you can try and simulate so, many? Different variables about an NFL, game the one thing that. You. Cannot simulate is game speed true true game speed can't. Do it and so. I thought, it was very smart by them to say to put him out there start getting some wraps again start seeing that game again at live speed you can try and simulated and camp doesn't. Come close right or you can, come close but it's not the same yeah and so any I. Guarantee we also have strict instructions anybody comes near you Airmail or get to hell down and I think it's great s-o-f-i has them at the Seattle seventeen yard. Line, on his first drive he has looked razor-sharp. So far just like Dak Prescott he's donate touchdown pass, with. The Dallas Cowboys and it, was not the number eighty. Eight.
