"So then Tuesday night I flew home and and here I am. It was last week though that we saw the debut of rookie quarterback Sam darnold do we've all decided his already the face of this New York Jets franchise. A solid debut. In fact, quote, Louis Riddick it could not have gone better. Here's the first of two are AFC east reports with rich to me. Thanks, Wendy. Coming off. His impressive debut against the falcons. Sam darnold is in line for more playing time on Thursday against the Redskins here in joint practices with the Redskins for the second straight day, he received the majority of the jets. First team reps an indication that he could get the start on Thursday night. Todd Bowles won't reveal his quarterback rotation just yet, but the feeling around the team is that darnold will get some quality reps against the Redskins. He's oppressing everyday on the practice field. Things are trending up for Sam darnold. This is Mike rodak with the bills where rookie quarterback, Josh Allen, went nine for nineteen in his preseason debut last Thursday, but it was two of his incompletions which relaunched more than fifty yards in the air, which third, the crowd in that game Allen's unmistakable arm. Strength will next beyond display Friday in Cleveland. Although coach McDermott has thus far declined to name a starting quarterback for that game, Allen was bumped up to the second team offense in Monday's practice, but it's still part of a three way competition with AJ McCarron in Nathan Peterman back to you in the studio, Wendy. Thank you. Gentlemen is solid debut for Mason. Rudolph the Steelers third round pick. He played an entire second half completed seven at twelve passes for one hundred one yards. The rookie led three scoring drives all field goals while out there with the first team. We welcome in our NFL nation, reporter, Pittsburgh, Steelers, reporter, Jeremy. Fowler, let's talk first about how Ben Rothlisberger reacted to Mason. Rudolph, debut Jeremy. Wendy. I Big Ben to give me the full scouting report because he had a great vantage point on the sideline Thursday night. He said, what I liked about Rudolph, the moment did not seem to big form so we had poise. He was in command of the offense route. The speaker said he was making great throws, and he looked like he was having fun doing it. That's really been the theme throughout camp between the rookie and the veteran exchanging snaps, having fun with drills, it's a loose atmosphere here, and I asked about how he felt one hundred one yards. He said, I did okay played well, but we need to get the ball in the end zone starting Thursday at Green Bay, letty on bell as expected. Jeremy remains missing in action. He stays away from camp as he did last year. What's the Steelers perspective at this point. Well, their next move is just to get him here, right? They're hoping sooner than later. Probably be more like early September rebel just in time for week one. But if things go great this season and they just can't afford to lose their all pro back, a transition tag, I'm told as a real possibility that they'll consider this off season because bell, it's a guy that they could sign and trade. In that case, it'd be in the seventeen to eighteen million dollar range for one season which is less than the franchise tag would be almost twenty. One million baby won't do that. But at least the transition tag gives them options. They could match any offer on the table from another team. Now they would lose a compensatory pick in that case that they would get if he went to free agency outright. But that's the risky run sometimes with a great player and Wendy, we could be doing this all again for third year between the Steelers and Bill next off season. Last week. Last Thursday, cold safety Marco. Thomas became the first player ejected under the new helmet rule this for any legal hit on the hawks wide receiver. David Moore, this tweet from ravens safety and former cardinal Tony Jefferson in response to actually, this is another hit with Dixon here legit. Don't understand how they would like for us to tackle. If this is a flag. I am unaware of the proper way. This is travel and he too not not ejected, but penalized. You can see the tweet..

"You know, the passing of their offensive line coach to move the tight ends coach to be the offensive line coach to have offense of linemen get injured already. And then just the change new coordinator, new quarterback, change it running back. So there's going to be, you know, they got off to a great start in that first preseason game. There's gonna be some storms that they're going to have to weather some growing, Kirk cousins, and offense coordinator, John d. Filipa both new and getting the know each other. So we'll see how that comes together to later Dan. So then, yeah, thanks, Tim, I appreciate it. I went from Minneapolis to back to California couldn't get enough. California went to San Francisco check in on Gia. Garoppolo and Kyle Shanahan who are no longer just getting to know each other. They've known each other all off season now and Garoppolo had I had a fun conversation with Garoppolo where he said, you know, this off season, I've gotten to learn the entire offense understanding entire offense. Whereas last year when he got traded their mid season, he had to kind of learn on the fly. And I said, so this year it's like studying and last year it was like cliff notes and he said it was if we're lucky, it's quick notes. He said there were literally times where the play would come in during a game from the sideline. And I would say, okay, I don't know what this side has, but I know what this side has. We're going to run the play to this side. He said, that's all out the window. He has a much clearer understanding of the offense, and he thinks that will help slow the game down four him Jon Gruden trying to slow the game down for his quarterback, Derek Carr. Gruden loves this guy. When I had a chance to talk said this guy, how about that a little, oh, much to our man Gruden. When I had a chance to talk to John, he said, look, it's all about their car. It's all about running through running everything through Derek Carr, pumping him up as much as possible. So he can be the quarterback. I believe he can. They brought in Jordy Nelson at wider. Ever to help, you know, bring some professionalism and experience to the wide receiver group. He thinks that will help Amari Cooper and of course, Derek Carr by extension. So expect a lot of Derek Carr in that raiders passing game. I had chance to go to the Seattle Seahawks camp. Pearl Thomas, not there as we all know, the legion of boom has dissolved Kam chancellor retiring, Richard Sherman back there in San Francisco, and Earl Thomas holding out for a new deal. But they have a young safety named Ted Rick Thompson who they're extremely high on, and they really believe he can help be the answer at safety. If Earl does not come also on the other side running back, Chris Carson really turning heads in spite of Rashad penny being the number one pick this year for the Seahawks at the same position of running back. So if feel like they have some strength that running back, which really was a position that fell apart for them last year. And then before I had to go back to California one last time, see the Dallas Cowboys. You know, the offense of line looks good. Zeke Elliott looks good. They liked that Prescott. They liked their defense. They have no idea who's going to catch the ball in Dallas and they need. The next three or four weeks to sort all that out. Von Osten is there. They like their third round rookie. Michael Gallup, they know Colby's Louis what he can do. They can throw it to Zeki Elliott Moore, but they brought in Allen Hearns. I still have Terrance Williams lot to sort out there in terms of receivers, they don't know who they're tight ends going to be. So the Cowboys this preseason for them is about sorting all those things out and making sure Dak Prescott has enough passing game targets right now. They don't know who that's going to be..

"And just play the middle of the field seventy snaps game. Yeah, you're probably gonna positive grade because you're not having to be asked to do a whole lot, but Joe mixon. Then he lost weight and he looks quicker dozen. Yes, he's a stud every expected. What's that mix them? Yeah, mix it better than I expected. Yeah, yeah, it is. I mean, mixing got that type of ability to really be a special football player like he can be in the conversation from one of the best running backs in the sport. I think he proved enough to me last year, but a little extra quickness and breakaway speed, even on that cool, highlight the balanced stay on your like that and the and the like, you're right. He was like a Boehlke running back last year, and now he's going to be a little bit more agile is and the Bengals are right there be one of the most talented, rosters angles for seven, nine last year, you know, I think everybody feels like they were like four and twelve, and that's just not the way it is. And yes, the bangles the one thing you can count on with Marvin Lewis, they're not afraid to fight anybody now they might screw up a playoff game or whatever else. But man, they play Pittsburgh and Baltimore twice a year, and they have Baltimore's number. Nobody's got Baltimore's. So that just tells you the style of football. They play the mentality have, and yeah, the NFC north is big, physical got a lot of renegades in it, and it's it could take its toll in that division. "I mean, it was pretty beautiful. Yeah. RG three touchdown Bershad Perryman by recording this. There's three minutes left in the ravens Rams game in the ravens are absolutely show lacking the rabble. Lodging alleging the Rams and really all three quarterbacks have looked great. They have Joe flacco looked really good, Lamar Jackson. He finally looked like he was able to show his full speed. Yeah. Well, certainly, I mean, they played some legit offense a lineman. The linebackers and defensive ends that we saw last week playing against them where they're just looking Lamar this week. They had to go damn Marchelle Janda in Ronnie Stanley or coming down hill, and we'd better worry about our run game fits that gives him a little bit of edge to make something happen with his legs. Were you impressed with them? I was. And again, I think the thing that his ability to throw the ball from different angles I think is the thing I've been most impressed with the preseason so far, believe on his touchdown pass that we saw he kind of dipped it down to the right again. He's he's was dethroned touchdown tonight with. How he ran. Another quick rod, he made those pretty impressive. It was. So we're going to kind of go through some of the preseason games that we saw and kind of update you on our trip today. A, we're also watching right now Niners Cowboys. We gotta watch our favorite coach in the NFL Kyle Shanahan three do, and we got to see how he's doing their up right now as recorded the seven, nothing Michael Gallup caught a touchdown kid out of Colorado state. So we'll see but does not does Dak with a good touchdown, pass their first game that comes on saquon Barkley. Yeah, I play. I play unbelievable who looked at me and just said that cut that cut. He. I've never seen a guy other than Barry Sanders who can like jump cut side to side and still be going forward, and then just turn it on and go, okay, you want me to go full speed. I can do that here in the next step and a half. No problem. Oh, Damaris Randolph first round. Pick Osea, see up the sidelines. It's just it's amazing to me his ability to do those jump cuts like we talked about. I was also very. Just from the giants, offensive side of what Pat Shurmur kind of wasn't stalling. I saw a man in motion the giant Suzy. I haven't seen a man in motion giants in two three year I, that's what I love about. You go because you really do pay attention. Yeah. I mean, how many times did you say the first drive like, look, this formation. They had a, they had a bunch into the right three receivers, the left another time. It was incredible. It was, and it was also like they got ally, easy throws and look. You can't overreact to preseason, but you can kind of see like some early installation. Sure, right. And I haven't seen that of the giants awhile so that was good. You know it wasn't that good and boy, we're getting hit up on social dragging. Dragon Davis Webb, you forgot his nickname because I, I would. I remember it who cares. He was one of our huff season. PP have had barely. He thought all those binders that printer the cowboy boots, the playlist it did not help him and he didn't look good. He was overthrowing things. He was kind of looking unsettled like a little over eight will. I mean, this will Finally, I hope, humble him and stop him from his world media. Radio interview tour that he went on like he was the starting quarterback of a franchise, like just, you know, again, he's got talent and I don't want to sound the jerk, but I'm going to sound like a jerk just because I'm gonna say the way like a coach would say or player, hey, just shut the fuck up and do something in the league first before you make yourself available to the press every corner, every turn town everybody, how great your preparation is, how great I am at the playbook. I've talked to all the coaches I've been in the meeting rooms. Come on. This is why now he's getting crapped on social media..

"Going to go seventy nine No no no we're not giving them credit I'm just don't think you're gonna see the patriots as. The Packers are Steelers when there's a Cowboys those are. National brands that are. Going nowhere giant giant I the patriots. Are we'll have this discussion. In ten years they go seven and nine. They may just keep the tax Say And, again I'm sure ballot check would. Save you just let me keep Jimmy. Garoppolo keep this thing going for another ten years and speaking of Jimmy Garoppolo who is now the second highest paid quarterback in football behind Kirk, cousins Tom Brady's got a new. Contract some additions on. There it's a five million dollars in incentives to go on with that fourteen million dollar based. Salary why the hell do you have to give Tom Brady incentives as this is stuff that drives me nuts about football. Visible that's. Awesome with the, cap you can Manipulated by doing by, putting. An incentives like this is ridiculous I'm, sorry I mean you've, got to figure out a way to not do this this, guy has been here almost twenty years I think. You kind of know what he's done and what he's going to continue to, do what I know but died yesterday floated the story that in practice it was shaking his arm that maybe he's not quite right hasn't looked great in training camp and maybe. By not, appearing at the voluntary OTA's it's catching up to him and practice has been kind of disjointed right two days off a day on Brady gets his birthday off so they're not up. To the, speed that they normally are but. This guy you have to give him. Incentives you're looking at like it's a slap in the face to Brady were really it's a way to manipulate the cap is not a slap, in the face of this is. A way to manipulate. The castle is so is the incentives you don't have to I I this is why I. Also think that you should almost take the quarterback salaries out of the salary cap because they're going to make so much. Money and. You have to, pay quarterbacks Get the best quarterback the Brady white sign it because I'm sure it's fine I'm just looking at it to someone that admires the guy when I. See incentives, for player like that I'm like that's what's wrong with football okay but it's a way to manipulate that's all it is yes I've heard that a couple times already you're trying to Federal case again into making a federal case because here's a guy again I remember, remember when Joe. Torre left the New York Yankees they said okay we're going to we're going to give you. A contract but we're. Going to, have some incentives in there you'll make a half a million dollars. If you win the American League east you'll, make. Another half a million if you. Win the American League and he's. Pretty, much said, damn, all, set, I've, earned, my right that. I don't need to have incentives incentives for people that aren't motivated this guy is, motivated God forbid the, patriots do something that's smart for the rest of the. Team they after just all bowed out Tom Brady whatever Tom Brady them for seventeen years Basim bow down. To them, recently well it's no no. No. No no no that's not true. You know this job. Because, of their west Welker contract and he's. Taken pay cuts Yeah so they should do, its best to the teams Except for Tom Brady and not give him things that help the cap and just give him the guaranteed money and then tied. To the cat because they realize what they should. Do they. Didn't keep his one of his favorite receivers Danny amendola he's. Bringing in, wide receivers that looked like they were. Retired I mean Eric decker looked like, he? Was retired he was hanging out with his wife right and now he's coming back and they're going to try. To see if he can make something out of himself teams that screw, themselves over are the teams that do whatever the hell the players all the, time and give them all the money that. They. Want and that don't care about is not true The Vikings done that and giving Kirk. Cousins biking's aren't aren't gonna win a championship Okay I, mean a lot of people think they have the second best roster and signed by. Eagles but we'll see what. Happens I think the Packers win the NFC not house your, house your LA Rams looking. Looking okay. For Address.

"Three other places I have are all as backups like three, but okay, the dolphins. Miami Dolphins, Ryan tannehill quarterback wide receiver. Nobody knows all I know teddy. He's from Miami. He could fit in real nice swimming with the dolphins. I mean, I just don't know to me that that is pull up their roster real quick, their backup quarterback. I know. Well, it's it's Brock Osweiler. Oh, yeah, so see. And that's the other guy that's from San Jose. I can't think of this is the one the only David David failed, Bryce petty, so. Okay. So you're Adam gays, and yeah, you're going. If I lose Ryan tannehill, I've lost the last two years and I'm not already sure on. Right. You lost them all your last year. The year before he leaves on NAS. Wiler came out and said he was having an amazing during Josh, so I would scare the crap out of me. Okay. Number two, number two to two to two. If I'm the Carolina Panthers Carolina Panthers, you have Cam Newton, Cass, what you lost your center, you lost your tackle. The rush could become an and then you're relying. On Derrick? Oh, no, he's no longer there Anderson, right. Who's their backup quarterback? Pull up the teams. It's Garrett Gilbert, right? Yeah, right in the name, the rest of the names. They're Taylor hynick. Right. And Kyle aller Hanky right. Hang people who are they? Not as good as teddy Bridgewater exactly. That's why they're on this Gilbert or Garrett grace. Oh, Garrett Gilbert from Texas who transferred to SMU member Garrett Gilbert, Alabama championship game and played okays a Franklin and then got progressively worse from there. All right. The number one team at teddy Bridgewater could be traded to is. I mean, I mean, I mean is a team that I've never okay. I mean, this is a team that we know can go to the Super Bowl and they have a questionable starting quarterback John the most talented starting lineup, and the NFL is led by a guy that admits he's not as bad as you think, but he's still he could be coming in over Cody Kessler the seventy first quarterback or. Tanner Lee, right? A wide receiver hybrid from the university of Nebraska who everybody already said is the most talented guy they got, or they're not going to bring in teddy Bridgewater because he's going to be better than Blake Bortles and they're not gonna. Bring teddy Bridgewater brings the Jaguars the Super Bowl, right? I, I do think. A healthy teddy bridge. Okay. Before we get to John David, Washington, oh my God, I believe, yes, that's him. That's the lead writer for gridiron heights. Santa's Flynn. Oh, wow. Celebrities here in the San Jose airport. This is why you come to the access point hot. It's an access point for stars like Hollywood. We were talking about the lettuce of moss versus Terrell. Owens my good friend, Dan said, who do you think was a better basketball player? And you said moss, I, you said, moss had great hand eye. He could shoot three's TO's going to like bunch through yet. Kind of like bull you overnight rainy most is the better athlete, and you said, Randy moss could throw the ball. Shosh jokingly said, could Randy moss in his prime as quarterback lead the Jaguars to the Super Bowl. And you said I was like, I mean, if you taught them something the Thirdly probably could you believe that Randy moss in his prime could throw the ball better than Blake borders. I think if rent Randy moss has wore pure potential to be the greater thrower. That's what I'll say. So we start at a guy that's incr- potential to throw a better. Like I'm just saying, if. If Blake Bortles and Randy moss came to my house at the age of eighteen and they and Phil Simms, Chris Simms and Matson's went out in the field with them, and we went through a week a work..

"Yeah, because you're trading for the the the real commodity instead of the ten different me hope our our, yes, we hope our evaluation staff can really hit everything right here for the draft. The next three years first crapshoot it's the one thing that Bella checks not good at in the NFL. So you think you're going to be good at it. Crazy. I agree. The Seahawks were the best drafters and then go on a draft route for like three to four years. Actually, like I'm telling you that one saints draft with Camara and the offensive line. Ramczyk. Yeah, all those guys, right? They're going to be called geniuses for the next three years and I'm guaranteeing you that their next to drafts maybe not. I don't know about this draft, but they're going to have trust where there's complete duds. Yeah, it's a crap shoot. Yes, it is. It's just too many variables and you can't always expect a hit. Right. And you know, you might have guys that you go down this if we get one of these seven guys at pick seven. Great. Awesome. Oh, shit. All seven or off the board. Yeah, that'll change everything. So, yeah, it's just too unpredictable at that point. And yes, I think Khalil Mack stays there. I mean, clue. MAC, I guess it's him and Derek Carr. The face of the raiders. Right. I mean, Ari Cooper, that's like the trio, right? And I would argue maybe Khalil Mack is the face more than anybody right now, of course, if you think he's more, do we know which reporter put out the Khalil Mack trade rumors. Rappaport. No. So would actually start like this one reporter was making like a Bleacher report type article where it's like the player that I see could get traded and he said, Khalil Mack, but then like the team really didn't denounce it guy. They didn't really come out and go, no, no, no. I just want to pay attention to the news coming from there was another story in which an NFC person said that he believed that Khalil Mack was open on the Yankee meal rota world who's who's the source on them looking. I'm looking. Okay. Here we go Khalil Mack trade odds increasing every day says, NFC executive, who's the report? Though? Man, give it to me. Bleacher reports, Mike Freeman, Freeman, love, Mike, freebie creek. All right. So I have nothing else except Bridgewater might be traded. Did you have any places where Bridgewater would be? Yeah. I mean, Bridgewater there is some places out there and make sense. I mean for all right, even though we don't have the exactly right well, and it's, it's a, it's a, it's a mute point moot moot. It is moot. You kind of have I did. It was a moot point until he plays games and everybody can see it, right. It doesn't really g three though. Now it's interesting that it's we got all of these games on Thursday night. We're going to try and find a bar here in California. I need to watch Davis Webb. I need to watch saquon. Bark. Yeah. If we have any Shawn Watson, if any of the home Ezer in l. a. I wanna come watch them games. We'll say what bar we're going to be at, we'll we're going to be what we got. Gotta figure out where we're going be Newport. Beach. It's also going to be four o'clock in the afternoon. I don't know people work here or if they're just going to be out of work, watching the game. This is weird. Watching sports and California you've proclaimed that you would hate. I have. I have a lot of issues with this. Yeah, I'm not into it. It's always you off. It goes me off. I'm just, I don't work normal hours. So for me, I'd be like football at four o'clock grew. There is some good there is some bad. I I did enjoy my mountain time living in Denver and being like them. Some, you know, Monday night football. It's six thirty and it's coming on today and it's going to be on done at nine thirty. That was amazing. Bridgewater I'm gonna throw you four teams real quick. Okay, because I know we're almost done team before he. Well, I mean the bucks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers house that Chris Simms Ville Wisden what's his issue? It's gross, Ryan. Fitzpatrick the future. We know the answer that question teddy and Tampa will see exactly. I mean, the other, the other three hundred..

So I got one. Yep. Do they. It's tough. I got nothing. I mean they took the communica Terai to Rayo. Right. Oh, we're guy from Rucker exact. Oh, you. Are you looking at the? Yeah, just pulled it up. I'm just looking up like their linebackers. Right. Well, see, they got to Nico, we sort this to go. I got it. Allwood's Decaux Autry Jabballah sheared I forgot they got him. They got your ball. Jon Steinman. Damn nausea, good. They're back came Nunez Rochas. Yeah, that's what I mean. There's just a lot an owl woods there as a tackle. They might have the worst. That's good. I think the cardinals have about a roster them. I would agree, so too. I don't think they're gonna win as many games. 'cause if Andrew looks healthy, the great race, they just lost their center achey Shipley you know. So the colts are team that you could see trading. Yeah, definitely. Because they're just no difference maker there. I don't know if they'd be willing to do that. The Buffalo Bills, I mean, the Buffalo Bills got nothing coming off. You know, Jerry uses up there in age shack, Lawson's been unimpressive at this point, Trenton Murphy, right? Yeah, they got nothing. I got nothing. Now. The third team is interesting and they have money and the forty nine. If the forty Niners if you don't, if you're going man, we don't have a difference maker on our front seven other than Reuben foster. Right. And I think they got a lot of good because you get the Thai Orrick Armstead and I know they love to forest Buckner Solomon Thomas, they're all super solid, but they don't have the guy to get the quarterback know they don't have just the why you laughing. Just the funny one. They just don't have that one super freak to come up and then that could be Khalil could be Khalil and pay. He's already in the bay, but would the Oakland even for the right price would they really train their biggest star across the bay and then have his care star. Yeah, you're right. But it's two years and they still might have to hear about it and then Kyle, Shannon and the forty Niners out, start outperforming them just gonna. Add it on double John. Ain't gonna leg that. Oh, no. Oh, I mean it on. Doesn't wanna get shown up by one of his disciples his first year out here, then it's right. It is child, right? So that that would be something to watch. Gut says though that max not going anywhere. I do. Yes. I think this is all the move because I'm sure defensive players love playing for the raiders. It's the raiders it's man. I'm mean that they do whatever I want because it's the Davis family care about bending the rules. So there is something to that grocery facial is a negotiating tool. They're just trying to chop a few million dollars off of a guarantee where the Green Bay Packers, what would it take the trade Aaron Rodgers. Oh, at you? Yeah, not not like what you think people would give you. What would it take for you to trade air. Like if somebody offered you two first round picks in and Roger? No, I wouldn't do it. I don't. I round picks SIMS. I mean, hey, you know, again slid, no. But again, this is where you're, you're, you're acting like first round picks or some slam dunk Kennett but three. Well, I don't know. I'm the Green Bay Packers right now and damn on. Aaron Rodgers is not there where six and ten and when four they're for in these wars. I think it would for three, but I would have a hard time I'm telling you this. I, yeah, I don't know if it'd be worth look. I don't read there's every time there is a trade for picks the NFL online community always calls a team that gets the picks. The winner always look at all the picks the Browns God for Carson Wentz. None of those picks have turned into anything you look at the trade now. It's like Sean Coleman and Corey called an all these guys that are like not even on the team anymore. The eagles won in a landslide..

We kind of talked about we compared like Bella check and Spike Lee. It's a pretty cool comparison, but Khalil Mack, they're actually admitting that maybe trade could be happening, which I knew that we're both going, don't do it. I think it's posturing. I really interesting, but I've talked about this before in the undoing project told them pay for this guy's photo. Give it on. Yeah, take take. Take. The in the doing project that first chapter is all about the Houston Rockets and one thing that was cool as he goes, they know the trade value for every guy on their team. So even though James harden just one MVP, they know if you offer them this guy, this guy, this guy, these amount of picks that fulfils it. That's the value to get them. Now we'll go that we're going to do it, right? So, yeah, of course you don't want to trade Khalil Mack, but in your mind, what would the offer half to be for the raiders to go Dan, that's actually good value. Yeah. I mean, two first rounders not going to happen, right. I don't think that happened think a team. I don't think anybody gets two first rounders. What if you're a team like the saints? Yeah, that that maybe you're not sure about your pass rush. Right, and you're going, we're trying to win a Super Bowl Vichy year. Our window with drew Brees is closing. Yeah, you know, we can live on second and third round picks. Yeah, you're right. Well, they just. The first round pick pass rushers. Right. But yeah, I can see Staffan or that type of thing. Certainly, I think religiously. Vikings what realistically? Yeah, you're drafting team, the shitty drafting teams like the Browns, you know, maybe you trade, like none of your first round picks on the team for the last eight years. Maybe you get Myles Garrett and Khalil Mack. Give up some of those first round picks that's not a bad team. Oh, I mean, I, you know, it's just about, okay. You're going to give up as an all you're gonna reach first round picks though. No, I think it's going to take. No, I don't think anybody's gonna give a first round pick for anybody in the sport, except for two first round picks for anybody except for maybe Aaron Rodgers. Odell Beckham, junior timeout, we heard we're the guys in the NFL that would take two first round pick man. You would actually give it up. Yeah, up for Tom Brady. No, I don't think not one Roger said. Yeah, that's right. Aaron Rodgers about like a Shawn, Watson, ooh, that would be thought about this. They're out of their age? Yes. If they caught the right situation, Russell Wilson at twenty. Nine. I still think he's young enough to where a team that they really were like, okay, this is what we're going to do in on Russell Wilson. We like it. Yeah, he's worth two first round picks. He's definitely worst. He, yes, he's worth two for the non quarterbacks von Miller, not at this age. Okay. You know, Dell is borderline talked early voter line, Todd, Gurley. They're borderline, but I don't think they're going to get to first round pick Aaron, Donald. No, no, I don't what? Yeah. I don't know. I think about to FrontEx earned on. I hear you the other thing that's going to like the Aaron Donald ODA Beckham just pretend Aaron, Donald Trump, picnics your Khalil Mack, right? They will do that. But the other thing we have to throw into this conversation is the money. You gotta pay one hundred million dollars. So that's the other thing that takes away from the trade value is in the Browns trade for Khalil Mack. Well, I at least suck it draft, three teams that need pass. Rusher SIMS did work team look at you right now the first team. I don't know if he'd be willing to give up one of his. Because he thinks he's really damn good at about you any players. And that's Chris Ballard, but the colts. But Dev..
Colin says Odell Beckham Jr. is everything the New York Giants are not
"Speaking of your dad actually wanna play this. This is know Colin cowherd was trying to do a speech about why the giants. It doesn't work out with Odell Beckham and he's saying that you know, Odell Beckham a little crazy, a little sexy and the giants. They are the opposite of that. And this is what he said about the giants and their history was star share. You look at the history of the New York Giants look at their stars Mark beforre, Phil Makanji, David Tyree, Jeff, Hostetler. Phil Simms. Anybody, anybody got an Espresso, even your stars are boring. Who I mean, you know, he did a really good job of trying to not name like the biggest stars, which would be who I, I mean, Lawrence Taylor. I mean, yeah, sure. Lacks co bursts. Well, I mean, there's been a number Jeremy shockey. He's been there. It's been like this choir boy setting, Tiki barber. Was he acquired Boyko? Everybody hated him in the NFL. Pretty sure I get the I know what he's trying to say. It is kind of an understated organization, the Maras or that type of family?

"For a little while I stuff said this all along. I still believe this that I think that that Sam darnold has the best shot as starting the two thousand eight season week one as a starting quarterback. Question number four, Eric Parsons at Eric, underscore Parsons usually shared your thoughts on the lines ofensive line while you were at their camp out of the camps you visited so far. Is there line the one that has impressed you the most. Let's see. Let's go through it. Okay. I think they they're more impressive than the ravens are right now. But Ronnie Stanley was there the day I was there more impressive than the bears. I was the patriots, no, Nate solar, the better than the patriots I think of front and this is all with the caveat if healthy, the Packers are probably a little bit better than the Packers the Vikings. If there's one issue the Vikings have, it's the depth of their offensive line. So you probably have the Vikings beat. The Browns could be pretty good up front. The colts are really interesting. I think I'd still take the lines group over those to the Rams the chargers. He might be the best one I've seen so far, and that line's been a problem for a while and so they can stay healthy again. That's that's a big if because they haven't stayed healthy in the past Taylor decker, Frank rag. Now Graham Glasgow TJ Lang. Ricky. Wagner. I think it's gonna chance to be a really, really good line. And if it is what the lions hope it is big physical, tough. All of that. Then you're looking, I think, at a little bit of a different team and your quarterback, Matt Stafford playing a little bit different in of an environment. Question number five from Tyler Schmitt at t Schmidt, underscore thirty one. Why is there so much hype around Pat Mahomes? He has played in one game. It has looked if he and training camp. What am I missing here? Well, I there's reason to have some confidence in Pat Mahomes for a couple that cut out a little bit. I'll start that over again three to one. Well, there's confidence in Pat Mahomes for number of different reasons. Number one, obvious is the first round pick. He has mesmerizing arm talent like can throw the ball from angles. Borderline, no one can throw the ball from. So there's that he looked great in week, seventeen. You can't take that away from them. And here's a big one. He's working with Andy Reid. And if I'm achieves fan, I'm looking in this. I'm saying you have the guru of quarterbacks, the guy who is able to package Kevin Cobb and AJ Felim make them look like a good pieces and then trade them to get a good return. We've seen him get the most out of Michael Vick for that year in two thousand and ten. We've seen him go to the NFC championship game year after year with Donovan McNabb. So I trust him at quarterback. That's a big piece of this. And I think he's going to build an offense. It's going to work for Pat Mahomes. The reason why we've seen the creativity, whether it's been with Doug Peterson as his offense coordinator, Matt Nagy, Zoff offense coordinator. Now air it be enemy is offense coordinator. We've seen the creativity to put stuff in that's gonna make the quarterback comfortable and. Get the quarterback playing fast. And I think he'll do some of that stuff for Pat Mahomes the picks and camp the mistakes and camp. I can live with those because my guess is reads probably challenging him in different ways right now. And Bob Sutton, the defensive coordinator, challenging them in different ways. Final question of the week. This is from Alexander award that's at a c w nineteen three his question. What do you see is the saints biggest weakness that could stop a deep playoff run? So it's interesting because the saints probably have. One of the most complete rosters in the league. And it's interesting because you know before the draft that you know you're making phone calls asking around, and I remember asking, you know about the saints and the Jaguars and those two teams. It was like, you heard other teams. They can go alive different ways because they've got such balanced rosters, and they were able to turn that around like that. No one would have said that about those two teams a year ago. And now we're talking about two of the better rosters in the league for the saints..

"Like we, we've heard that a lot in the past. It quarterback rarely happens where that now it just so happened that that the eagles were in this position two years ago when teddy Bridgewater got hurt in Minnesota, and suddenly the Vikings were scratching the find one and trade first round pick for Sam Bradford, but that's rare. And so it's hard for me to envision a scenario where somebody's willing to give up close to what the Vikings gave up to get Sam. Bradford, barring some sort of catastrophic injury on a team. Team that feels like it needs to win right now. Question number two. This is from Julius Kizzie that's at Julius Kizzie wise Dez Bryant still in the market. What teams are interested? Okay. We've heard about Cleveland's interest. I think that's that's cool off a little bit that is possible that the that they circle back on him. I'm not thinking. Is that likely unless a couple of things get worked out there? I, there are two things to look at with Dez Bryant. Number one, he is used to making a certain amount of money. And this part of the reason why I wave of interest went without him signing somewhere is that he had to get comfortable with the idea that he's not going to be making quite as much in twenty eighteen is he's been used to making over the course of his career. The second piece of this, like he's an age right now where he's gonna have to sort of reinvent himself as a player because he can't run the way that he used to be able to run. Now there are. Certain things he can do. He has still go up and get the ball in the red zone. He still good and traffic, but he's going to have to evolve as a player. And the question is, for guy who's never been a great route, runner who's never been particularly cerebral as a player is he going to be able to pull that off Larry Fitzgerald's the best example of somebody who has reinvented themselves and created a second life for themselves in the NFL. I, there's some doubt among NFL teams, whether he can do it. So there's the money part of it. I'm pretty sure that won't be as much of an issue as we get closer to the season, I think is financial expectations have probably changed some by now. The second piece of it. I think the biggest concern for teams, and if you have a player who's a fraction of what he was, how's it going to carry himself when he's already always been the number one guy? Question number three from Brad Hirsch or hash that's at behest. Thirty four, any thoughts, the bills, QB battle how the bills QB battle is going and he clear front runner. It seems as if AJ McCarron taken the early lead and I will say this about their situation. I don't think AJ McCarron believes that Josh Allen or Nate Peterman are better than him because AJ green is a rage. A McCarron is a supremely confident player, and this is different than tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield and Cleveland or Josh mccown, and Sam darnold in New Jersey, or Josh Rosen and Sam. Bradford in Arizona. This is a guy in AJ McCarron who is for the first time getting a shot at starting in the. NFL and I think we'll fight his ass off to try and win that job and probably won't be a great resource for Allen because of that. So it's a little bit of a different situation. I, I know the bills feel like the competition will bring out the best and Allen, and and that'll help him in a different way. But with similar results may be is having a mentor in there. But clearly McCarron's confidence has edges a player, like I think there's some stuff to work with their in like he is not going to go down without a fight and if he plays well, maybe it makes sense for them to sit Josh Allen.

"They didn't like the way that he was that he had kind of accumulated this power. He drove the Los Angeles thing. He drove the Las Vegas thing because he had business interests in those. And as he kinda cumulated this power, we've seen him kind of, we've seen him do things that are sort of, I guess, more the Jerry we saw in the mid nineties who was willing to step outside the context of what the league was doing. Probably a result in part of the relationship with the Commissioner crumbling. You know, the other thing real quickly on this is that Jerry needs to realize that he when it comes to an anthem. Issue, and I think every owner needs to realize this they have the ability to put their own policy out there. But when they do, they need to realize that this issue is such a hot button deal that the rank and file fan doesn't separate. Jerry Jones is just speaking about the Cowboys. It's Jerry Jones talking about the anthem issue and it's so muddied out there that he needs to take a step back Shova ego and realized that if he says anything on it, it's going to reflect on the league. And I don't think that you made a great point there because it's like, I think a lot of times if you see like a Jerry or a craft, or America or Rooney out there and you hear them talk, I think a lot of people just see old rich, white guy, this guy, and when you hear one of them talk, I think like a lot of the general public looks at it and says, well, he's speaking for all of them, especially when you hear them speaking, frankly, like this. Like there are a lot of people out there that don't have the. Time to read everything that's out there or decipher everything that's been out there over the last couple of years and just assume, well, this guy speaking off the cuff. That's what's really happening in the room. Yep, I, I'm with you on that. I mean, the less they say the better it is and by the way, last Friday we had a nice foo fee NFL PA, NFL statement. We've had great discussions on the infamous and we feel like we're getting somewhere. And then we've heard nothing since. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. But what it makes me realize is tonight there's a football game that's going to be played and. Give the caveat that we are recording before that game. So whatever happens, we we, that's why we don't have our Lamar Jackson takes here. But yeah, go on grass, and but you know, okay, it's an issue tonight. And what's the policy everybody's looking around? No one knows what the hell's going on, right? And that's the thing is like, I mean, so much. This of course is predictable to we're going to be thirty two news team with each of the teams coming up their own policies and like everybody's going to be taking -tendance who's in the locker room who's not who's kneeling who's standing like that. That was always going to be part of this. And that's the. That's the to me. That's the craziest thing about the decision they made may was they kept talking about, we want the focus back football focus back on the field. We'll all you did was create all of these individual news cycles, and it took one of them. And we've talked about this in the podcast weeks ago. All the took was one of those maybe a hundred new cycles to happen when the dolphins policy leaked ultimate was one for. For the league's policy to just come on down, which was so predictable, right? Lou news number five already news item number five officials. They're making their way around campus time. They've is it the eagles and came out and the eagles still came out unclear on the new helmet rule quote, we were trying to ask questions to get better understanding, and yet they couldn't really give us an answer linebacker. "He's going to get that money now. It's just a mess. I mean, it's just like I would have told you two months ago. I think MAC, probably as. A better chance of getting a deal done because the owner loves him. Right. I thought MAC had a better chance of getting a deal done. Then Donald and the GM obviously is tied to him. So I, there was motivation to get the deal done. I, there's part of me that wonders is like, like, why haven't they moved? Why hasn't there been good faith negotiation? Why Gruden staying out of it, you know, and the cash things sort of make some sense we, I wonder if the wonder if the solution is franchise tag franchise tag, get to Vegas, figure it out. Then. It could be. Then I well and do only need. No, actually only need one franchise tag to get there because he's got two years left on the deal. Right. Interesting. One, you know he's got one year left on the deal so this year and until we don't even know the team doesn't have a lease for twenty nineteen, which you all. Yeah, I was just going to say like, you know where there, right? They don't even know where they're gonna play and we'll that stadium be ready for the move into for the two thousand twenty season. It's a really interesting situation. Yeah, it's kind of it's kind of a mess, but I'll tell you this. If there's a guy in the NFL that if I'm a team, I'm willing to give up two first round picks for and lay out some cash. It'd be Khalil Mack. I think he's the real deal. And if you put him with a real defense minded coach, oh my God and like Donald, he is a first class guy. You're not gonna have to. You're not gonna. You're not going to go to sleep at night, worrying about what about how he's gonna make the organization look, okay. He's he's done everything right? Like just like Aaron, Donald, but he's done everything right? He's the right kind of teammate, like you're gonna feel good about paying him. Football's Sophie's choice. If you had to pay one big money, Aaron, Donald Khalil, Mack, who would you pay? So I think Donald's a better player. I mean Donaldson more unique player. I. I still think because I think MAC plays a more important position. Do more with them NFL I think I'd take Donald. I think I'd take Donald just because he's more unique. I think there are five other guys like they're like cl- now climax, great. But I think they're probably like five guys probably in the NFL that are like Cleo Mak I don't. There's anybody quite like Aaron, Donald. Interesting. No does and I would. I would pay MAC because you can move them around, you know, we can get to the quarterback. I think there's some versatility there and I don't think that pass. Rushing. Those pass. Rushing skills are going away. However, I will tell you this, and this might be another thing that could be a hang up. You know? Normally these guys come into the league like he did in two thousand fourteen and if they're twenty one years old by the time that five year deal runs out there twenty six twenty seven. MAC is going to be twenty eight years old on February twenty-second two thousand nineteen, and that might will bit of a late bloomer. Oh, yeah. So that. I do believe he did shirt year there. Yes, that's correct. I think so that is actually correct. Yes. He registered a year and then wow. No, he's a five year guy. I didn't realize that he's a five year guy buffalo, so he's produces his age twenty-seven year this year playing in the NFL. So that's another you know? So if you're thinking six or they're thinking six or seven year deal, I love Khalil Mack, but I don't know if I wanna be hooked into him at thirty three and thirty four years old. Okay, it's an interesting thing to follow contracts generally aren't all that interesting, but these two guys, I think these guys have the resolve that Kam chancellor had a few years ago when he was the first under the new CBA to carry a hold out into the season it..

"He said, she said, now if Shelley Mayer related to urban Meyer in two thousand fifteen, that there was an issue, then he's probably toast or does stay go down the road of saying, look, we were complicit urban, didn't do what he should. We're going to suspend him for two games. Here's going to be our policy moving forward and try to get to the business, a winning football games and making everyone kind of not forget about this, but it sort of pushes it out of the news cycle. Zac Smith is probably on the higher -able ever. He's toast that guy will never get a coaching job anywhere. Again, I don't think unless he goes and joins art Briley over in Italy, which is a pretty interesting story that there's American football being played in Italy, but Ohio. State also has to be careful here because there's that looming specter of what happened with the wrestling program and within the big ten, you've had the issues at Michigan state with Larry Nassar. I mean, this is state and Penn State to where it's pretty amazing to think that we have made me necessarily forgotten about it, but it just goes to show the new cycle. If you said to someone right now about the incidents at Baylor, how many people would jump to what happened with Dave bliss and the basketball program? Or what happened with art, browse on the football program? Mazing, Dave bliss story like like was forgotten, forgotten and imagine if that happened now. Oh my God, it would be. I mean, it argue this, the other part of this though, isn't it like in a certain way? It's progress because I think we're all taking these things more seriously now. Right? I like God. Yeah. Like like if this happened eleven years ago, twelve years ago, probably not the same reaction and that's a good thing. Yeah. I think one other thing to remember on this too, and and you know the the ex wife of Zac Smith, Courtney Smith, you know, she kind of opened Pandora's box a little bit by doing that interview with with the stadium network, and now the sordid ugly dirty details are really going to start to come out as to the nature of their relationship. And I wonder if that what point both of, you know, Zach Smith, his ex wife, the people at Ohio State. I hope they're someone who is thinking about, hey, listen, their kid is going to read about this forever on the internet. And will there be, you know, I'm not saying they're gonna hide behind it, but I wonder if some of the investor. Gatien is going to be sheltered from the public because there is a kid involved whose parents have clearly do not get along and have issues with each other and look somebody very close to me della domestic violence in a really bad way. And the thing that gets forgotten because the parents are bickering is that there's a kid who has to live through this as well. And I know the media is going to be screaming, transparency, we want to know everything that went on. Well, it's the whole. Could you look at your five or six year old and explain to them what was going on? I get it that the media wants answers. I do hope that there is someone who says, hey, listen, there's a kid who's going to read this. There's a kid who's going to be in school, whose parents, you know who's friends and their parents are going to know exactly how terrible this was and it is there a way to possibly shelter him a little bit. I know everybody wants answers, but at some point. I would hope that the misses the former MRs Smith and Zach Smith try to protect their kid the best they can because clearly they don't get along. I so funny feeling the dirty details of their relationship are going to get emptied out in the national media. Well, you would think so. I mean, because what happens in the source situations, people sort of, you know, take to corners and there's going, I would think we're going to find out more and that's horrible for the kids, but we're probably going to find out more. All right. Let's get to the news Lou you ready to go..

"Up and knocks the other guy down wins. They were doing that and Campsie. You can see sort of the emphasis on physicality. It was a longer practice and you can see how vocal the coaching staff is. It felt like a New England practice from there. We went to Cleveland. The thing that sticks out about Cleveland is how much emphasis there wasn't culture they are and how much was like trying to erase the ghosts of the past. And when I talked to Hugh Jackson about it was really interesting, I asked him, you know you, you were part of that Baltimore team in eight that went to a championship game with a rookie quarterback and you were in Cincinnati where they played any Dalton from the start. So why is this different? Why don't you wanna play Baker? And the one thing he said was we think that it's going to take a veteran quarterback to really switch the way that people are thinking here and take on all the pressure that goes with playing quarterback here and the ghosts of Tim couch and Brady Quinn and Brandon Weeden and Johnny Manziel. There's a lot there for quarterbacks to deal with, and I think that they could see that emphasis there on how they want this to feel different. They want this to look different. They want the atmosphere in the building to be different, and they felt like they needed a veteran quarterback to help them pull that off. You see tyrod Taylor there. And that's a big reason why Baker Mayfield at least the plan for right now is to sit them when the season start. It's from there. I was off to Indianapolis, and to me that was all about Andrew lock and how good he looked. And one of the things that was interesting, you can check out the story in the QB talking to him. A huge part of his recovery was being honest with himself and being able to communicate to others like I'm hurting this is this is not feel good. This is not feel right, and he sort of conceded to me that over the course of two thousand seventeen one of the reasons he kept having setbacks was because he was lying to himself because the white quarterbacks think they proved their toughness through their availability. And so he wanted to try and make sure that everybody in the building new. He was fighting as hard as he could, and he was trying to be available for the team. There came a turning point at the end of the year where he became a little bit more honest with himself about where he was and has made all the difference. And he looked fantastic. The practice that I was at the last two days. I've been in Los Angeles real quick. I think the Rams you can see the energy on that Sean McVay brings. This is the first time I've seen him. I. I'd seen him in Washington as an office of coordinator, but this is the first practice actually been at to see him as a head coach, and you really notice the command. You knows how how, how the whole practice is sort of. There's a pace. There's a rhythm to it. They're playing, they're going eleven on eleven watt, and you can see how in command is. And then finally, the chargers today gresh will bring in now the town stuck out about the chargers. I mean, I just you look at Joey Bosa. You'll get Melvin Ingram. You'll get Denzel Param and you look at Derwin James, you look at Keenan Allen, you look at Mike Williams. There are just a lot of big athletic guys on on the field and it just it just jumps out at you. When you look at their roster, makes a big reason why they were able to turn things around after no enforce start last year. And despite the issues they've had selling the team in Los Angeles, it looks like they've got a lot to work with Mari enough your filibuster. Let's get to what's going on in Columbus, Ohio, right? Now, because I'm sure those people who on follow you on Saturdays who follow you on Twitter. Yeah, I'm gonna. "It. All right, welcome in live from Costa Mesa, California. I'm the chargers facility is the QB podcast with Al breer from the road and because we're coming from the road, I wanna give you guys one thought from each the camps that I've been to over the last week. If you guys listen every week, you heard, I, I gave you guys thoughts on the bears, the ravens, the patriots will since then I've been to the Vikings Packers, the lions, the Browns, the colts, the chargers and the Rams. So I'm gonna give you one thought from every camp. Then we'll bring gresh Lewin for the news. And as always we'll wrap things up with the six pack. Okay. My first camp I I can't of this week after the three camps. Swing to begin was the Green Bay Packers. The one thing that you notice about the Green Bay Packers, some of the aggression that they have shown in the off season under new general manager. Brian Gouda Kunst is showing up. Of course, Aaron Rodgers looked really, really good, but you notice how the two tight ends. They brought in Marseille's Lewis and Jimmy grammar being emphasized in practice, and you notice what's. The look of the defense is going to be under Mike Patton. They've got big long, aggressive corners. They drafted two guys in Alexandra who's a little shorter than the other two. But I Alexander and Josh Jackson, who is a converted receiver. They've got Kevin king from the university of Washington. He's about six foot three. And so you see some of the aggressive moves they made in the off season to make changes on offense and bring in two tight ends to help Aaron Rodgers. And you see how that's going to be emphasized. And then on defense, you see what they did in the draft moving. Those picks around to wind up with corners for Mike Patton. It's going to be an interesting year in Green Bay. Obviously, everything does hinge on whether or not Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy, but if he can that team's going to have a little bit of a different, look, my second camp of the week, the Minnesota Vikings looks like a loaded roster, and I think the one thing that sticks out to anybody who's been out there over the last few days, how good Delvin cook looks and you remind yourself how close they were last year. They had the miracle win over the saints that got the NFL. Championship game got outdoors sort of laid Neg in Philadelphia, but they bring back a talented defense. They bring back a good nucleus, go players, and then they add Alvin cook, which I think a lot of people don't think about because they only saw month them last year before tours, ACL helix electric one of these kids. It's just looks like he sees it and moves faster than everybody else in the field. And I think they probably got a little better quarterback, Kirk cousins and probably get a little bit better on defense. Adding Sheldon Richardson, third camp flew to Detroit the Detroit Lions. The fist stuck out to me at lions camp was how much it looked like a patriot operation. This may be the first time and gresh is I'm sure familiar with this drill this. Maybe the first time in an NFL setting. I've seen teams doing the nutcracker drill. That's basically a modified Oklahoma drill. It's something that you do when you're like ten years old playing pop Warner football helmet to helmet coach blows the whistle. You pop cheer feet, whoever gets up..
