"Well. So Greg Warhol doesn't forget about him because this is the last game till September and comes September, you have two games, and then it's World Cup time. So if I'm Greg berhalter, I'm thinking, all right, I gotta get my 26 here. I gotta start getting them gelling here and that's September FIFA picture window date if you will. So how'd you write has this game in a place where historically the U.S. men's national team has not done well. In a setting where they've not done well in this World Cup cycle, which is away from home and he's got to be the man. This is his last chance. Is this his chance of World Cup of a World Cup spot of maybe World Cup glory if you will. It happens here because if you can't do it here, I don't think there's a September fixture date in his future. It may be unfair in the eyes of most that he gets a stiffer challenge in what is El Salvador, but this is the hand he's been dealt, and this is what he really has to do. As a player, you think it's unfair? There's two trains of thoughts here. Now, the train of thought that most people will say, well, if you can't do it because El Salvador shouldn't go to the World Cup, but forget about that for a second. I'll take you to the train of thought of the players who have been there that cycle. Greg berhalter is saying, listen, you're my guys and I'm going to ride and die with you. And if anybody else wants to come in because this isn't an all star team, this is a selection, a national team selection. So theoretically, you pick the best team, not the best set of players. What do you think is the best team? He's showing those players that if you're going to come in, you've got to be better. You've really got to make your Mark. So as a player who's been there through that whole cycle, you will feel indebted to that coach for giving you that confidence. Now, hygiene, I think himself and the fans also want to say like, hey, if I can do it against that cellular, I could show them I could do it against somebody in the World Cup. So you got Haji right all or nothing against and it's not about anybody else you got a keen eye on. Yeah, Cameron Carter Vickers. And like kaji Wright, this is really his World Cup test. Now, Cameron Carter Vickers, I'm going to bring up the name Aaron long. And.

"App. U.S. men's national team 5 Grenada nail, the baby eagles hang 5 on one of Concacaf's JVC. Grenada. The big news and this idea medical school and whatever else you've ever spices. The big news in this one, a U.S. international team striker actually scored not just one girl rod but four FC Dallas Jesus Ferreira repaid papa Gregg for his continued faith in him telling four times against the spice boys and he could have had a fair few more Paul areola scored the other goal as the U.S. winning convincing, but expected fashion in a game in which, well, Gregg's shoes were one of the major talking points. We smashed those spice boys. The United States final game on home turf before the November World Cup was and this is no fault of U.S. soccer. It was an odd bird, a damp squib, played out late night in the shadows of the NBA Finals. Against a middle of a team that had college players in the squad essentially. It was a kind of challenge Premier League teams face when they are drawn then FA Cup third round game Devo. Where you play against non league opponents, you kind of have to win. But you don't really celebrate the whole process. You kind of just move on, right? Yeah, look, I would say that U.S. soccer one would imagine has some influence in Concacaf and the way in which the nation's league in this hemisphere has been organized, allowing this drawn out process and seeing the U.S. play against some of the weaker teams, the JV teams as we just said. You know, they must have some involvement in that. Yeah, I mean, this one is solely in England, the face in the same frustration, the same exhaustion, the same kind of like, why are we playing these games again? Mobile, it's even worse for the Mexico's and the U.S. who are trying to prepare slender slender moments really before the November game. But God to be handed this opponent a 170th in the world ranks spice boys for Manila and population 112,590 who felt it a player from the English 9th tier. This one was a tough one. Tough on also for the players, they will be fated. Politics made that clear. They want to play amidst delirious send off scenes that last game at home. They want to savor these memories and this was because of Nations League scheduling. I think Henry Bushnell wrote, and they find peace on Yahoo sports. He called it the strangest, most contradictory World Cup send off the U.S. men's national team, have ever had. And I wrote before the game in Friday's newsletter, I wrote if we win this game heavily and press the life out of our opponent and have our full backs push up like American versions of Trenton Robert and we watch Aaron long just lock down the backline like MLS Rúben Dias. We all agree not to act as if we're the OU softball amends football. And on Friday's pod, I said, no peppy, per Fox sergeant or jossi on the roster, there'll be few better chances for Ferreira had you write to make us all wildly overreacted. I potency in clinically. If they score a hat trick, let's not get too wild. I think that's a big picture notification I'm going to pick up again when we analyze the result, big picture, but at kick-off Davey, the Americans have seen most up for this. Quickly became clear, was Greg berhalter, adrenaline, surging at least his first meme hungry bounce pass inside ten seconds. Why even why even who's the World Cup? Just give us the trophy now. Yeah, I mean, to be fair, it wasn't his best bounce pass of all time. He's slightly missed the man, but he certainly was a no look. It was a real no look. He was saving a sign. He was sending a sign. He was saving his best for the stroke of halftime, but the camera then panned down for the big reveal. This is now like 20 seconds in. Our national team coach decided this was the moment to unleashes Billie Eilish Air Force One high tops. With their signature swollen oversized style 5 chunky mid foot straps on each one. Bold move? An orthodox move? Clearly a very deliberate choice of very deliberate piece of messaging and I spent the first 20 minutes of a game that was a slow boil, Grenada playing an incredibly deep low block and the goalkeeper just looking to decapitate or comers. I wonder what was Greg thinking as he did a feature those ten Velcro straps pregame? Was he trying to say David to his team? To himself to the fan base? Yeah, I'm looking good. I like this game. I like the game. I think he's into himself. And by the way, he's by far the first manager to be severely into himself, and as we've seen, you know, it can work. It can work, you draw attention to yourself, it takes the pressure off. The players. But yeah, it is, it's odd the way he expresses it. It's clearly a conscious choice. And I could say, even if you do owe no sneakers, why in this moment would you want your shoes to be a talking point? We will revert to that one, but on the field, this was an experimental lineup for the United States, Cameron Carter Vickers, alongside our long I think it's the 20th center back pairing of the triple G regime, no atoms, no pulisic, God love blunt, the boredom of camp makes for idle hands and great hair makeovers. Western McKinney got the start and the understandably rusty still coming back from injury and the rest of the players seem to take their cues from him. Robinson, Jordan Morris all off a step as Jesus Ferreira fired away on sight and the U.S. had so much room to create and slip in their striker, God bless Ferreira. He had shot after shot in that first 40 minutes Taylor 12th and three or four times talked about what Greg likes about Jesus and to be clear, Greg. Sits with the commentators at ESPN in the afternoon, it's a tradition that the U.S. do. They have their manager go and sit with the commentators for about 20 minutes and give them a briefing, so they get an inside track on and what's on his mind. So Taylor will have heard this direct from Greg himself about Ferreira's mobility and Ferrer's link up play. That's why he was getting the start. And for most of the first half forever look like the XG God, but the good news, the U.S. will look like a Premier League team for much of that first half the bad news that Premier League team was Everton. It was so slumber filled the first half, lacking urgency, lacking really an idea of what they wanted to do really absent of intensity. There was a moment when Greg did a totally gratuitous behind the back pass after the ball went out and it was to a rather shock grenade and player who was holding up prepared for it and the crowd broke out their slumber went crazy and GFP at won the lot FC. Thank you captured at David. He tweeted, our head coach. He thinks he's an Instagram influencer. Yeah, I mean, look, as I said, he puts the attention on himself. This is deliberate. It's also, I mean, I'm not saying that he's not like this in real life, and this is what he's decided to do. I think this is what he's like in real life. And then he's decided and he's succeeded in management because this is how he is. And I wonder what his players think about it sometimes. I wonder how they how they think of it all, whether they think, oh my God, manager is so cool. I doubt it, but they probably quite like that it deflects a lot of the attention. But from that moment on, every time the camera cut to triple G, I just expected him to be coincidentally in the midst of the ice bucket challenge. They were coming with him and he'd be like eating a tide pod or two just doing a TikTok dance of some kind. That's it. He's the first D'amelio U.S. men's national team coach. Yeah. Well, it's for the modern age. GFAP. Sea salt on instant told us Greg is the Mike dean of national coaches. Bite your arm off. Team catch. We're back to the football. 43rd minute. A goal and not just a gold David, but one from a U.S. number 9 for just a second time in open play in the last four matches delirious. Yeah, a bit of slop in the box. Ferreira gets on the end of it. Fine finish to be fair, but one nil. Relief. Respect ariola for creating the mayhem that led to it for a really exactly that, a relief, more than the joy,.

"Opportunities. So that will be one of the big questions going forward for that number 9 position, not just with Jesus Ferreira, but just how effective you can be against a much better opposition. And so give Ferreira a ton of credit. I love his response in the second half to missing a bunch of chances in the first to get those four goals. But there's not going to be a whole lot judged from that performance. Aside from Fred, what else was a takeaway of yours from last night's game, Casey? Well, I think you know you're playing against an opposition that you're going to dominate. You're going to have the majority of possession. You also know that you're mixing your lineups around in some players, you're getting opportunities that they're going to be very few and far between. There's no real camp before the World Cup. There's only going to be a two game window in September. So every chance you get, you have to take advantage of it. When you look at someone like a Cameron Carter Vickers, for example, who just secured his full-time move to Celtic after season after season being loaned out from Tottenham to different clubs. I look at a player like Cameron Carter Vickers in particularly because of who is in the U.S.'s squad. You're playing against England. You're playing against Wales. A couple a couple British teams where Cameron Carter Vickers. Grew up. He played against a lot of these teams that these players were playing from. He's now going to be playing also in a league that is used to that kind of physicality. Look, if you were playing against South American opposition or where it's a different style of game, maybe that doesn't suit Cameron Carter Vickers is much as it does having to potentially going up against England or Wales. So I thought that defensive unit with him in their last year last match did exactly what they were supposed to do. Make things very, very simple. Knowing that you were playing against an inferior opposition and you never gave them an opportunity. And so, you know, that was a step forward. Also, again, understanding who your opposition was against. Finally, Casey, obviously, as we learned, you know, camera vehicle is going to sell to me on Tyler Adams future still very much up in the air at the moment, links to severe in some reports. What would you suggest would be his best move to make? I think that's a tricky part. There was also a lot of talk about leads does Jesse marsh want to sign two Americans is his first two signings and what kind of pressure does it put on those two guys? He's obviously the good part about it is he's in a very good club. He's at a club that's a Champions League team, a team that is shown that they can compete not only in the Bundesliga, but in European competition. So I think the most important thing for Tyler and a player in myself who loved the new challenge of going to a different country and a new club. I understand why the appeal is there to maybe move somewhere else and see what else is out there. But I think it's really important that he goes someplace that fits perfectly for him, not just for a paycheck, not just for, you know, maybe the dream of being at one of these monster clubs. I think the key though is make sure you're somewhere where there's a significant investment that you're going to be playing weekend and week out. And make sure that his representative and himself understand that that has to be paramount. Casey, as always, thank you very much just to remind our ESPN FC with you 7 days a week here on ESPN+.

"I'm not blaming Doyle on that. I'm saying, I think that's the wrong way to assess that. I think I agree with you, the one thing I'll add two things. It's royal Antwerp. And the other is we've already gotten really far afield from who's a locked in starter. We can agree three of the four on the back line. Zimmermann in central defense dust and Anthony Robinson. Then it's a question of who's the partner for Zimmerman. I think it's going to end up being Chris Richards. Why? Because even when miles Robinson was healthy, Chris Richards was starting a lot of games. I think from October to the Canada game when Richards got her, I think he started like four out of 6 games. And that's one thing. So we already know he's played in the pressure cooker of qualifying and in berhalter clearly rates him. He also has reps playing with walker Zimmerman, which matters. And on top of that, I just think he's the all around most talented guy in the center back pool. Like he's not quite as dominant in the air as long as I don't know if he's quite as quick, but it's really, really close on that one. He's also much better passer. So I think he reads the game really well. So I think that he if he gets healthy and can stay healthy and he gets minutes, I think he is the most likely one to be starting alongside Zimmerman in the back line. Any thoughts on what long showed in these games and in particular Uruguay? They need demerits, any big positives, Doyle is right. Like just as far as aerial dominance, he's very, very good in that sense. I think he's good as a recovering defender as well. I don't think he scrambled well, we be. I'm saying I'm saying, I'm not saying that. I'm saying as a general player, I think that you're talking about you're talking about Uruguay only or you're also talking about Morocco. About Morocco. I think he was a little bit his scrambling around the box. It was effective. But it wasn't, he still looked a little bit rusty. He used to be really, really good at it. So I'm still attributing it to having missed a year of soccer and it's still maybe working his way towards it. But he's much better than Eric Palmer Brown. And he's much better than Cameron Carter Vickers. So it's like, to me, he's clearly the third guy on that depth chart after Zimmerman and Richards. I'll just say that the motorcycle revving in the background of.

"Comp level, but he's not played much for the U.S. bins national team. So there may be that rust if you will. But when it comes to picking your center backs and I'm convinced I have no issue with walkers. Everyone thinks it's a very good center back. And I think he has a capacity to play well with the ball at times, evidence to that goal that he pretty much set up with Christian Pulisic and Brendan aronson is the quality you have on the ball. And if he doesn't consistently have that quality, you need to pair him with somebody who does have that quality. And it's Chris Richards in my eyes, right? Is it? If it's not John Brooks, it's Chris Richards in my eyes. Right. I was going to ask you who that next guy is who's got next ball player. You've always said it's Brooks, but Chris Richards next. We've heard Chris Richards be linked to a lot of teams like Crystal Palace in the Premier League. So it could be a good shot for him. We also got to see another option at center back. Cameron Carter Vickers for the second half. What do you think of his performance? So you play an illegal in the Scottish premiership. You're going to see a lot of crosses coming in. You're going to see a lot of physical play. The one play you had to prove himself in that one was the one that it got over him and in between Aaron long and it was an opportunity for the Moroccan national team. If not for Matt Turner, who will get to in a second, it could have been a different story. So you're very good at doing something do it. Yeah. You've got very few opportunities to make a name for yourself. So do it. And it was an opportunity he missed there. Yeah, I'm stocked down here too as well for the partnership between Zimmerman and long thought. I will say this, sir. I didn't think Aaron long necessarily play bad. We showed it in the highlight. That last couple last ditch efforts that were very good. But if you're judging the partnership together, it goes a lot further than that. I think at this point, we all assume Zimmerman health, if he's healthy, lockdown starter and Qatar. Inc is de facto number one right now. Right. Thank you for halter. Yes. You're basically looking at who is going to be his partner. And that may mean you don't end up with the second best center back, right? You may end up with the center back that best pairs with Zimmerman, again, a long way to go to find out who that is. Let's go to the back. The.

"In the U.S. looking good on the attack Christian Pulisic with an early warning shot. Yeah, Christian ballistic was very active in this game. Watch him set himself up right here, a little step over crossover, and it left footed right there, deflection, but he's active and he's active early. Early on, this game was very open back and forth Morocco here with a chance in the 12 minute and a good opportunity at that. Matt Turner with a big save. Yeah, Matt Turner with the big save coming down the left hand side, right hand side with U.S. men's national team center basket split apart. Watch this right here. Cut some and then air long does good last ditch effort there, but the amount of times that long and walker Zimmerman were spread out where we're spread thin. We're a little concerning there. Yeah, Morocco definitely grew into the match very dangerous. Between the 15th and 30th minute, another chance here in the 19th, but Turner again, getting the job done. Here's the breakthrough for the Americans, long ball in for Christian Pulisic, cuts one, cuts two, easy feed for aronson. I mean, where do we start? How about the ball out of the back from walker's Zimmerman? Didn't know he had that in his locker, did you? The touch silky smooth to bring it down to cut back. The presence of mine and Brendan aronson, Jedi, pick your poison 6 minutes later, two nothing Tim way of the shot. Oh, but we're not gonna want that one back. You think? Oh, I mean, he hits this. Strong, I guess, but this is completely stable. We could have put his chest in between that, kept it out. He didn't. Timmy, he won't care. He'll take that. Absolutely. Two nothing at the half, some changes at the half. One of them had you write 49th minute great chance, but can't make it three. Yeah, immediately. You're a 90 immediately be dangerous. Make yourself present. That's what he did. 53rd minute, chance from Morocco, Matt Turner, big point blank stop. All right, Cameron Carter Vickers in the game now. This is why you're there. You're a big physical center back. I mean, he's only 6 one, but you have to make that play. U.S. pressing forward. Aaronson.

"That's what it is. And miles Robinson who was a de facto starter on your U.S. spends national team is quite possibly out for the World Cup. We don't know when he will come back. Chris Richards is often injured. Mark McKenzie doesn't play. Walker Zimmerman may be your only player there. Cameron Carter Vickers has no experience with this used men's national team. Eric Palmer Brown, very little as well. There happens to be a player that has a wealth of experience. European pedigree experience in the Bundesliga who at one point was the highest transfer for any American in the world. Who happened to score a goal in a World Cup has World Cup experience. Aaron long is coming back from a torn Achilles tendon. It hasn't played much this season and you're still talking about other players. Just don't make an excuse as to why John Brooks isn't part of this. Let's just stop making the excuses. Give John Brooks an opportunity. Let people see him fell or let people see him succeed or say what it really is. Yeah, it is a snob. I don't know that it's much of a surprise anymore, right? And I get it. We're always when we talk about Brooks we're always talking about the reasons that berhalter's giving. One thing I would love for somebody to ever use in a defensive John Brooks is how he's actually playing. Some of you could be, hey, he played very, very well for Wolfsburg. If you're watching the Bundesliga every week and that's your take, fine. Or point to how he's played for the U.S. nationally. I never hear anybody talking about the first half against Canada or his performance against El Salvador. Nobody's ever talked about nobody has ever talked about the performances. One of the things, one of the reasons I believe there is that rift between Greg Berger and John Brooks, because in that first half he played poorly in that first half, he was also visibly seen questioning Greg berhalter and his tactics. That to me is the rift between them too. I don't have any proof of that, but based off of everything I've seen, that would lead me to believe. So berhalter talked specifically about John Brooks. He was obviously asked about it by the media in that press conference. He also hurt name checked three other guys who weren't injured, but were left off this roster to give him a chance to recover from their time in Europe. Ricardo peppy John Luca busio and James sands. Now, if I'm not injured and it's a World Cup year, I don't know that I really want time to recover. Certainly not if I'm Ricardo Pepe. So if we're going to talk snubs, I think we got to talk a little bit peppy. He's left off here berhalter had kind of warned us that this might come, but man, those World Cup odds for peppy right now are not looking good. I mean, Seth, would you have guessed this no talking about Ricardo Pepe on fire for FC Dallas? I mean, it was during Klinsmann on this show was said be careful what you wish for. Be careful where you go. Maybe the timing isn't at its best. And now we're talking about Ricardo peppy. Think about this. May not be a possibility to even make the roster in the World Cup. Think about this for a second. If you regard the Pepe, you want to be on this roster. You may not need to be on this roster. You may actually need a break. You may need to be mentally refreshed, but you want to be here. You want to prove yourself. And I think that's damning to Ricardo Pepe. All right, so we will see what happens with Ricardo peppy, not just in terms of the national team, but also his club future. Will it be another season of Augsburg for the young American? All right, so we got some new names relatively new on this roster as well. Guys who weren't really huge.

The third for him since moving to iex from Google medic got back in 2000 19, still just 24 years old, pretty impressive hurt. Yeah, especially when you look at that list, John of the Santos, maybe that list inflated that he played on a very good Barcelona team, but look at Susquehanna with three as well. But Edson at a young age already getting up on that list. Speaking of titles, shout out to Cameron Carter Vickers. He picks one up. As Celtic reclaimed the Scottish premiership after one one draw with Dundee on Wednesday. It'll be very interesting to see a few things. Cameron Carter Vickers with U.S. men's national team and where he ends up Celtic. I've also heard Newcastle Newcastle's reloading up there so it'll be interesting. They got that piece quarter finals kicking off on Wednesday. I made it up puebla in the first leg at puebla four versus 5 in the table early on. Pueblo Jensen, I'm being safe from memo. But it's a puebla chance. Look, it's a direct play, and then how about this, a lot of complaining from America fans here, vignette goes out injured. It's a very tight place. "Care if it's on both sides. I don't care if it's on one side. Put that aside. All that BS and it's John Brooks right now. You need to facilitate something for John Brooks to come back into the organization into this program and you get fast track them because he could be your starter or he could be a very important cog or a very important piece come World Cup time. You no longer have the luxury of just saying talented players are out the window. Couple quick questions here for you, herc. Who is in the driver's seat to pair with Zimmerman from the list that I'm looking at? Is it Chris Richards? Yes, this is Chris Richards. It's Chris Richards and you can slice up Mark McKenzie and Aaron long there four and 5 however you want Kramer Carter Vickers in. You can put Eric Palmer Brown. You can put in a map miyazu, whatever you want, I don't care. Okay? It's one, two, three right now that I am worried about. All that other stuff is subjective and people love to break them down and love to do the power rankings of whatever. I don't care. Concentrate on one, two, three, because those are gonna be the ones who are gonna be your main cogs or most important players come World Cup time. You already have a situation where you don't know who you're 9 is. Or they have a situation where you don't probably know who your goalkeeper is. Now it's the center back tandem. U.S. mustache fans can't catch a break. Another quick question here, because the reality is that John Brooks, whether you want him in or not, may not be under consideration. It might not be in this list. So if you had to take Brooks out and I'll give you some I'll give you some options here for who you can replace them with other guys that have been in or around the pool. Who's getting that 5th and last spot in your top 5. You got names like Eric Palmer Brown. You got Cameron Carter Vickers, who I think you mentioned. Somebody like Tim ream, who like it or not, will be a Premier League player next year. He just got re upped at Fulham. Probably a Cameron Carter Vickers or Matt miazga would be my two guys, but why are you trying to take John Brooks outside? Why don't you like about John Brooks Seb? No, it's nothing that I don't like about John Brooks. I'm just looking at the reality of what the national team manager has not just done. Let's look at the reality of those things. With his call ups, but what he said, he just told us a week ago. Dropping like flies. That is the reality. The only context we need here. He just told us a week ago, he would rather take a look at Cameron Carter Vickers than John Brooks. Look, we will leave the center back discussion for now. Let's talk about the surface herc on which miles on which miles Robinson was injured on Saturday. That artificial turf at Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta. And as I mentioned, it's not the first time that we've seen it, either on turf in MLS, this past week we saw it in Seattle with Joe Paolo or specifically in Atlanta. We saw it not in Achilles, but a knee injury with Brad guzan earlier this year. It was Achilles. Okay, how big of a problem hurt? How big of a problem is turf for Major League Soccer? It's a, it's a huge problem because perception is something that Major League.

"Aussie. Joseph, yeah, it's just one blow after the next, but you're right, they played well. It's crazy. Reynolds is zero. This is his first goal, his second goal is third goal in MLS. A pretty incredible debut as far as the goal scoring for goes for him. How is it? Did I miss the other one? He had one against Miami? Was it a couple weeks ago? Yeah, I think he does have one. That feels like a bonus goal. Miami. Nobody can remember that stuff. Okay, let's hit some mail real quick on this and take it outside the Atlanta side, which obviously is a big deal. Shakiri, by the way, had an assist in this game. But the fire and a bad place and yeah, they're in a bad place. Matt skinner did Aaron long just reenter the fold as a starting center back for the U.S. M and T, Michael milberger, shout out to Mike. Who's going to be the Jimmy Conrad, the surprise MLS center back of the 2022 World Cup for the U.S. M and T. So who sorts of who sort of, how does the depth chart shuffle here? You'd think that Chris Richards is going to be raising his hand saying hey, I got a chance here. Definitely Aaron long, who seemed like, who seemed like he was going to be the guy before he got then hurt and then recovered and is now back in that position. Exactly. Same injury. Exact same injury. Aaron long popped his Achilles, May 15 of last year. Yep. And it was back as I said earlier in mid January. But he's back. He's playing well. You got EPB starting against PSG in Paris, getting a big result for Troy's. I didn't say that right soon. Oh, tight. I like that. Who else would be that Mark McKinsey would be at least in the conversation with Cameron Carter Vickers? Yes. I know it seems like Greg was going to call him up even before this. Who else is floating around in that space? I mean, to me, Richards and long are probably slot writing to numbers two and three on the depth chart behind walker Zimmerman..

"Playing for West Brom major below, especially at a position where the U.S. could use some guys getting hot. Man, it feels like just a year ago this kid was lighten it up. He was on the radar the next starting 9. He plays in gold cup an injury to his shoulder to his shoulder keeps him out from playing from his best possible footy and then now this is it's just keeps coming for Daryl dica. At the 21 year old striker, as we mentioned there, expected to miss the rest of the campaign. That's the bad news. But there is some good news as well. It's run it back. U.S. M and T style. We'll start with Cameron Carter Vickers, where he got the game winner. For Celtic against rangers in one of the biggest rivalry matches in the world. How about that? It's a game winner, my man, that's the center back. It's a game winner. Okay, Cameron Carter Vickers. The very interesting to see if he sticks around with Celtic, a lot of teams vying that signature. What about very interesting to see if it gets a call up, huh? Center back, a position of need, no? I mean, he's definitely in that pool life. I don't know why he hasn't been called. We will see what this nurse Nations League. All right, speaking of positions of need for the United States, Terrence Boyd with a hat trick. Now, 13 goals on the season, yes, herk gets the third tier of German football, but still the U.S. needs an eye. Yeah, that's not gonna be Terrence boy. I love Terrence Boyd, but that won't be Terrence Boyd, it's the third division in Germany. Still. Hat trick is a hattie, 13 goals this season. Good for him. Great guy. It is Terrence Boyd, tearing it up. Maybe an outside shot. Very, very outside shot you're saying, herc at the U.S. men's national team roster for the upcoming World Cup. From Terrence Boyd, we go to Haji right. Playing in turkey had a goal and an assist for antalya spore. Yeah, he needs to fire his agent. I mean, why do you go from cosmos all the way to Schalke and I don't know what's going on here, but it's good to see him scoring. You wish he had a little bit more stability in his club situation, but he's got some talent, man. Yeah. Goal and assist there in the Turkish top flight for Haji Rai. Jesse marsh. Attackers from the manager. Okay, Jesse. Look at that. Southampton. He's showing off for the crowd now. He's honestly, you know what? And he's endearing the English fans, those leads united fans. They're sitting pretty 16th right now. I would describe that as sitting pretty much where they were trending in the right direction for sure. Time for the good bad and the ugly from the weekend in Major League Soccer Brandon Vasquez with his league leading 5th goal for FC Cincinnati. Who's the most informed Mexican player right now? It's not Javier Hernandez. No, it's Brandon basket, yes. He can represent Mexico, also represent the United States men's national team. I don't know some quite well too. Yeah. And was in Atlanta with Tata martino. He's doing well. Pat Newman has got him playing well. FC Cincinnati, at the end of the day, did lose this game. They felt free to Montreal. Had a great season, but here we see that he was MVP bound. A list of the hottest starts to an MLS campaign and who knows, maybe Brandon vast. Find himself on that list. If he keeps up the great scoring for FC Cincinnati, let's go to the bad New York City FC harp. The defending champions of Major League Soccer losing yet again this time to one against Toronto at BMO field. Watch this place up. Just one win from their first 5 MLS games played so far this season. What's up with you? That's the bad for me. It's not that they lost. Like, this should be a penalty kick, and it was overturned, not called penalty, could pro pro referees acknowledges that this should have been overturned, acknowledges the gross to grotesque air here. Toronto goes on to.

"You could win with homegrown players. If you invest time hashtag player kids, that had to come first and now that that has happened, the rest of the world has jumped in. And so thank you, Alfonso Davies. That's what it really comes in. Thank you, Alfonso Davies for being that good, because now everybody wants the next Alfonso Davies and they're coming here to look for them. All right, let's talk national team for a second before we finish David from Columbia South Carolina, so slightly hot take. From the USA Honduras match, the cost of toy is the man we need in midfield to unleash mckenney's attacking potential. Box the box sideline to sign language. Why have we not seen more of him to date? I would push the CR Costa if Adams is still hurt. Mckenney and dilatory and midfield with Musa pulisic are way on the wings. Now, answer this question, but also I want to actually touch on the do you want to ever see Musa on the wing for the U.S.? Never ever, ever, ever, ever. Like, moose is essential midfielder, man. He's an 8. Deleterious appears to be a really good number 8 as well. Bear in mind. It was against a Honduras team that is the weakest in the region by far. They were playing a four four two, so they were always outmanned in central midfield. I like deleterious a lot. I have him behind Musa on my depth chart. It's not going to change because of one game at home, freezer. That said, for me, deleterious starts against Mexico. Mckenney doesn't start, Adams doesn't start none of the starters in that game. None of the regular starters should start in mat game other than in goal. Over the history of the hexagonal, which is now the ocho, you don't get a result. The game after you play at the azteca. No team does that with any high level repeatability. And the most important game for the U.S. in the next window is that home game against Panama, which comes just days after playing in the S tech. So full squad rotation at the azteca. That means de la Torre starts. So you get to see him there. You're speaking to my speaking of my brain, but my heart rejects it. In every way. I mean, that's great. So you don't want to. You don't want to go to the World Cup again. You don't want to see the U.S. at the World Cup because this window, the U.S. need to beat Panama at home. They absolutely need to win that game. And then they probably need to take a point at Costa Rica to finish qualifying. And if you're going to waste those guys on a low probability, we can then you probably don't deserve to go to the World Cup. But what if what if we get Tata fired and Mexico's on the brink? And we still get to be Panama now. I mean, look, there's an emotional side of this that's hard to ignore him. He was happy as long as Cameron Carter Vickers is in that oh God..

"Qualifier. In a very, very difficult environment. It can say team that physically, he should be up for. But we're gonna get to see a different layer of different side of Chris Richards. With this U.S. men's national team, is a good, very good passing back. I think you get a surprise a lot of people in his play and maybe maybe one of those people Greg ber halter. And listen, the other one, we talked about getting Chris Richards experience. You've got to get Joe scally experience that you should have been in here last window. If you say he couldn't play versus Mexico because he doesn't have that experience and you want to get him experienced. This is the game. I don't know about you said, but I had that Mexico game as a game that I thought the U.S. minister was gonna drop points in. So the must win game for me looking ahead to this window was actually Jamaica. So now that you have those points secure, don't let it go to waste. Don't let it go to waste get points this window, but also get a player like Joe scally into the system acclimated and ready to go because at some point in the near future, you're gonna need them. Yeah, it's almost like you earn the right to play the younger guys now to take the risk that we've seen Greg berhalter do in previous big games. I wonder if Joe scally being on the bench kind of flies. You know, in contrary to what we've seen from Greg berhalter in these moments, what's the other choice as far as replacing miles Robinson? Does it do something? I mean, you do that. If you look at Ricardo Pepe, zero work up qualifying minutes as zero international against all of a sudden gets in what was a must win game in Honduras. It gets that mighty start. And look what he did. He was involved in all four of us. So then how is that? That's the total opposite of what's happening with scallion, right? No, but you're saying that it shouldn't be. He's proven that he does it. He takes these risks. Yeah. No, he definitely does. Who's the other option, though, Mark McKenzie? I mean, it's between McKenzie and effectively Chris Richards there. Both those guys are in experience those miles Robinson. I wonder if there's a shout here for somebody like a Matt miy Oscar. You know, somebody who's got just that little bit more experience. Obviously not called in, but a player who's playing consistently in a top 5 league. You know, don't you need a little bit more experience there in the center of defense? You would think so. And the biggest thing for me here is Greg ber Holter and the message he sends. You can't be inconsistent with your message. If you say four matters, you can't give this to Mark McKenzie. Mark McKenzie has not been a national team for many barely plays at the club level. Chris Richard, he plays. Does he have that national team forum? No, because you've not given him the opportunity. Matt miyage got can't get a sniff. I don't know why Cameron Carter Vickers, the same thing. There are certain shouts to be made for certain players, but Greg Warhol needs to be consistent. All the player asks is for transparency. Tell him what he needs to do and they'll go from there. Right. So not a lot of options then to replace miles Roberts. And they're not as many options as there are to replace Weston McKinney. You got a lot more choices in midfield if you're Greg berhalter. Who do you end up going with? John Lucas. I went with John Lucas. You look at boozy.
