"Sports already Matt Morning. How are you? Hey, not not bad, Interesting. The Monday Night football game last night Lot closer than people anticipated. The Ah Buccaneers were 13 point favorites and nearly lost of the Giants lead at halftime and lead much of the game. But Tom Brady and the Bucks came back and wanted and then it late in the game and again, you know, full disclosure. I have to get up so early. I follow it by looking at the highlights, but they giants scored and had a two point conversion to tie the game with 28 seconds left and failed on the two point conversion. And there was some controversy because originally there was a flag down for pass interference, and then they pick the flag up. S o. The Buccaneers escape. But, ah, much closer Monday night game. I think that most anticipated because the Giants are Frankly awful, but they nearly pulled off an upset Well, and and I noticed some hate with the Giants Q B two on Daniel Jones. Yeah, he makes some Hi. He's a talented guy. They drafted him much earlier than anyone had him rated on the board. So he's got a lot of pressure on him, Plus being the quarterback in New York, and there are times where he makes some really nice plays. But then there's sometimes where he just Makes horrific decisions and threw a couple of interceptions that were very costly for them Last night. Yeah, Yeah, It's kind of been the M O for him in his short NFL career here. All right. Well, what else is going on in sports this morning? It seems to be a sweet spot between 94 Million and 100 million Americans so far that have already voted. That's get this that 70% Of 2016 total turnout, So as you can imagine, all across the country, people have been coming out in droves. Early voting is nearly doubled. 2016 50 million in the latest numbers. Came out late last night for that, but a cz faras poles go. You heard Scott a little bit earlier. "So you have a further understanding of more than just the basic level of news coming out for the New York giants we are getting really close to the first viewable. Scrimmage to everybody out there, not just people within the media that are allowed to be at practices. This upcoming Saturday, you will be able to watch that game on Saturday night. So we'll we'll be tuning in. We will be breaking that down and giving our reactions to various things we noticed from this fake preseason game pseudo preseason game. Now, just really a inter squad scrimmage, we do have some headlines that we wanted to address. and Get out there leading up to the scrimmage things that not only we're going to be watching foreign paying attention to if they are fulfilled. But also how some other things are playing out, and if we can possibly get a stronger tell at the hand of the giants for various competitions and lineup situations for this roster Chris the first thing here, and we gotta go right on into this one because it is a bit. Of An odd one, one that I don't think either of US expected when we evaluated Cam Brown and that is a possible switch for Cam Brown to edge is is this actually going to happen the outside linebacker sixth rounder from Penn State? Will he actually ended up being an edge rusher? You know I don't know that was something when I was working writing up Bret Almas press conference that jumped out at me and that. kind of made me blink raise my eyebrows and go. Simple I test, I can kind of see how coach. Could at least want to make the make an experiment out of that because physically Cam Brown does look like an edge. He's got that length at six, four, six, five he's got athleticism. And he really does look like. A pass rushing outside linebackers should look. But the thing that's weird for me about that is. He never really did that in college. You know when we were talking about him around draft time we both noted, he was A. Space Player, he used his athleticism, his movement skills to play in space to match up with running backs and tight ends and the occasional wide receiver. And Your I. I didn't really see him go downhill and get after the quarterback as an edge all that often if really ever. Right, this is such an odd transition because you look at him physically in the traits that he presents to the table, he six foot five and he was two-thirty coming out of Penn state that length in size the arm length is right where you want it to be for an edge defender but his weight is just far too low I would consider to be rushing the passer and holding the reg the edge on rushing plays. If you recall back to the Cam Brown episode when we broke him down in his game down. The things that we spoke on that were his strongest weaknesses were one. He gets washed out too easily by offensive linemen and he also doesn't do a very good job of disengaging from offensive lineman being an edge rusher is all based on being able to disengage, hold your ground, hold the the outside of the line of scrimmage to prevent any rushing place going out there and picking up yardage, and then also getting after the quarterback. So I could see this being some type of experimental project that maybe they're enticed by his arm length and his overall size that they could transition him to. A full-time pass rusher. But right now, I would not put much stock into it being in immediate impact type thing cam, not very experienced in college and right now he's very experienced in the pros is a pass rusher will just like we didn't see a lot of oceans. Zimmer says in year one if they're really looking to do this, I don't think Cam Brown is is going to get on the field very much in year one to yeah, and the difference there is that Zimmer was pass rusher in college. Greg it was at Old Dominion, but he did play that defensive end slash. Linebacker edge physician campground to me is a little bit more of a slightly smaller less athletic Lorenzo Carter at. The roles were pretty similar in college as. Long athletic off ball linebacker, and they share a few traits like that. But I really have to wonder how well a a transition to edgewood work because it really hasn't worked that well for Carter at least not yet. Right. That's the other thing too that you bring into this equation. If you recall the giants basically had a guy that they already transitioned a few years ago. That being Lorenzo Carter he was not really a pass rusher. In his time in college, he was off ball outside Linebacker, and now we have been hoping that they use Carter at his strength position of off ball outside linebacker with a new defensive coordinator. It seems like they're doing the same thing now with Cam Brown, which is Brown was a good space mover a decent athlete with good size. That looked good as an off ball outside linebacker in spots but does he really have what you want and we argue that maybe his weaknesses are his ability to get off of blocks does that make him a suitable pass rusher and edge defender that is going to be a tough transition for Brown one that I I wanNA. See if he actually gets out there and gets the chance to go after some guys and go against some tackles to see how he does this upcoming fried out Friday the. The other thing I'm looking for Friday is the whereabouts of undrafted free Jaren Williams out of Albany Chris. This is a guy that we have to talk about because one he is from the school that you graduated from I also happen to play against Jaren, last season. So this is huge to have an undrafted free agent they picked up late from the cardinals and is now already getting into strong rotations with Bradberry, and Ballantyne to the point where he might be cornerback three is that is that sound right? honestly for me no. The idea of a U. Albany. A. Great. Dane being third on an NFL depth chart kind of breaks my brain a little bit. When I was at UA, our best sport was basketball and my our definition of best was. Odd are men's team would occasionally make some noise in the NCAA tournament and our women's team could hang with the Yukon women for a minute or two if I'm.

"Right giants fans back here on Valentine's views podcast at Valentine talking with Patricia, Traina about what we've learned, and what? We haven't learned this off season Patty. I want to turn to To Post that I did and just talk about a couple of things. Maybe that are in that are in the post that I did that that you may have touched on. You probably did touch on your own post, but just touch on on a couple of these things that I wrote a little differently than you did. And for me, one of the things one of the things about the off season is we don't get answers to every single one of our questions. Coaches will always tell you that position battles aren't decided on until training camp, and that's not always true. I think we learned that the last couple of years. With John Jalapeno at center, the giants denied up and down the last two springs that Jalapeno had already won the starting center, job and Lo, and behold. He was the starting center, and there was never really a competition, but there are things that we learned by being around the team in the spring by seeing some of the practices at O. T.. By seeing the rookie minicamp in and the. The veteran minicamp, and obviously we haven't had that opportunity this time around, so there's a few things that we didn't learn and and one of the things we didn't get a hint about. We talked earlier about the offensive line. We don't know which side Andrew Thomas is going to play. We know he's playing one side. Nate soldiers playing the other side. Spring practices would have given us a hint. For me. My guess is Thomas Plays. The right in in soldier plays the left, but but I'm not I'm not really all that worried about it. I think that's how it's going to turn out. Just just your thoughts on on what we might see there. You know I. I tend to think the opposite. I think because of the off season workouts being canceled because of Kobe it makes more sense to just put. Andrew Thomas Left and move nate soldier over to the right side. Now you're right. Joe Judge has said has not said what the plan is other than he. The plans to cross train guys at multiple positions. From my perspective, it's okay if Andrew Thomas. Is Your future left tackle? Just move on their. You know move solar over you know. Ultimately solar is not in your long plant, so so let the kid get comfortable at the left side. If soldiers struggles now you've got like I said. You've got Nick Gates. You've got Cam Brown. You've got that part. I if you want you, you've got options on that right side so to me. I think it makes more sense to play Andrew Thomas on the left side and move. Nate solder over to your point, ED, about The coaches and the depth chart you're you're absolutely right usually when we go in and we look the spring workouts that what we see is you know the we kind of get a loose idea with the depth chart looks like even though coaches will say well, there's no depth chart. It's like a plank wall. We know that's not true. Somebody's got to work with the first team. Somebody's got to work with the second team. That's information. We generally start to get and You're right that. That's something we are missing. We can assumptions but It's going to be a little harder. I think to really say okay. This is how it's going to be. And you know another thing that that we missed out on with with lack of spring workouts and all of that. I don't know about you, but I was really looking forward to seeing. What a Joe Judge Practice look like what how Joe Judge Ran a practice how he interacted with players. Looking forward to seeing how this entire coaching staff worked together, it's such an interesting staff with with former head coaches on it with so many guys who are coming out of the college ranks. And it was kind of interested in in in Jason Garrett and seeing how he sort of reacted in handle going back to being an offensive coordinator. How Patrick Graham began to put his defense together. So I feel like we just. We learned a few things about Joe Judge, but I feel like we just at this point. Don't really know anything about this coaching staff. Now I think. I think you're right on the surface, but we know that this coaching staff. Joe Judge said he wanted teachers. He didn't want. Guys were salesman, so if he kind of. Apply what you know a teacher to be talking about a good teacher. You might be able to kind of get an idea of what to expect with the staff. You're right. What what? What you miss out on by not seeing the practices are the little nuances for example. How much time do they spend on fundamentals? Versus how much time are they spending on You know the installs for example How many times during course of practice do they work with special teams? So little nuances like that you know is Joe Judge Floating from unit unit. Is he standing on the side? Is He riding around in a golf cart? These are all things you don't. Know yet, so and they're important because every coach. Does it a little differently you know. Are they gonNA, use music, are they? Knock into use music. ARE THEY GONNA? Use those big speakers that announced that the different changes in the the practice sections at you know little things, so that is still to be determined I'm sure judge I've has a plan for how he wants his coaching staff to interact with these players I'm sure he has a plan himself as to how he's going to interact Mike. Feeling as you're going to see a very hands on group that is going to be actively involved. That is going to be demonstrating that going to maybe not be yeller yellows. Because you still have a relatively young group here and you know being a yeller is not necessarily. A good way to go about teaching a young group, but you're gonNA. Have I wouldn't call them cheerleaders, because that's probably not a not a good word, but you're going to see a lot of encouragement I. Think and I think you're gonNA. See a lot of these coaches really get into the thick of things, demonstrate stuff and make sure that these players are doing everything. They possibly can to be successful out there..

"The place on that. Penn State Defense. They worked at outside. Linebacker inside linebacker. They had him defend the edge. They also sometimes put him in the slot to cover receivers Chris. He was really a do it all guy and it kind of made me think about how the whole pre-draft process we were talking about. Perfect is to fit this new. Look Patrick Graham Defense of sorts where you want more position this guys that can move around and and be adjustable to various things. We've talked a lot about Isaiah Simmons. Obviously we talked about Jeremy Chin. Kyle Duggar Zach. Bon All of these guys. That had the right traits to really succeed in this new defense going forward. And if you think about it Chris. Camp Brown has to be the poorest version of that in terms of the poorest man's version of that rather in terms of not really being on most people's radar but did a lot of different things and can come in and do a lot of different things a rotational player yet brown was not really talked about in the pre-draft process by us or most other outlets but he was very lightly mentioned as a potential poor man's version of Isaiah Simmons and you mentioned his height his length. He's obviously obviously athletic player. You can see that right off the bat on tape. He moves very well in space when he triggers to come down hill yet. There's not much hesitation and he is very quick coming down hill and he does look like he could potentially be that kind of position linebacker. That Patrick Graham seems to want and the giants really are amassing. A pretty big collection of position lists players. Don't like to use the term Chesapeake because very chess pieces actually have very defined roles but just kind of the giants have a bunch of Defensive. Swiss army knives and it looks like Cam Brown could be another. One certainly fits the role almost as accurately as you can think. It's possible of not having a definite position that he will be used in Patrick. Grandma's GonNa find different ways to work around nick. Faldo who works for Big Blue View in has come on the show. Multiple Times did so recently was talking to US outside of the show about campground. How he really fits what. Patrick Graham is looking for in that he could develop into a serious weapon for the giants defense. We're going to take a look at things and break him down so you understand what he is player without having to you yourself. Go and watch the film for linebackers. This is not as important but in today's NFL is increasingly more and more important especially for outside linebackers. That is their ability to defend the pass in-space drop zone cover guys in man. Demand situations tight ends running back sometimes receivers depending on what a offense will throw at you when we were watching. Cam Brown and I was looking at him. I can say a pretty definitely that he has the speed in the length that make him a a serious asset when defending the past he can can move laterally decently but he has that speed to once he knows where the ball's going redirect enclosed down quickly and because he's so tall and he's at six foot five he has this extra length to in this extra range the cover larger places of of space around him yet he can really use that length to shut passing windows down like he does not have to be in quite as tight a coverage as a six foot one linebacker with thirty two win charms extra length. He has really let him be able to affect that much more of the field and then with his athleticism long He's along strider. He's got good speed. He can really move around the field and he can match up with some bigger players Maybe big slots tight ends Running backs and he can use that length and athleticism to just kind of close passing windows down shrink and just be a real problem for. Offense is trying to attack over the middle. Because he's so long it Kinda makes up for this but besides his ability to move quickly and pick up speed quickly cover large areas once he knows where it's going where the ball's going. I think the big issue though here is his ability to Change Directions. So he's not really that quick footed which is understandable. He's a really tall guy he's got You know he's very long in terms of his his arms and all that and sometimes it's not that easy for guys that this big to redirect in transition and move so he doesn't really cut and money makes that decision get out of his cut as quickly as you'd like him the sea so that Kinda hinders him a little bit but he is able to make up to it to some extent because of how long has arms are how long his legs are. And how big of a linebacker he is. Yeah and I would also add that. His awareness instincts recognition in coverage. Those are all developmental qualities. Those are things he will get to this in the second half but those are also kind of limiting factors for him. You say that he when he knows where the ball's going he can get there in a hurry it. He just doesn't quite seem to have the mental footwork just yet to have that super fast almost no psychic ability to know where the ball is going that you see from some linebackers like the recently retired leuke clear was phenomenal at that. He knew where the ball is going. Almost before the quarterback did you talk about how he struggles sometimes to diagnose things and react to what's happening in front of that in front of that leads into our first point about how he defends the run how he is able to play in the box against run schemes. The big thing that stood out to me Chris was that he sometimes does hesitate to really diagnose and figure out what's going on. I watched a couple of plays where he wasn't even in the box. Who's out in the slot covering receivers in the ball would get to the line of scrimmage would be handed off athlon scrimmage and he'd still be sitting where he started debating with himself if he wants to go or not so he's a bit hesitant at times or sometimes he can be a little bit too decisive in go in the wrong direction when he's trying to track play down and figure out where it's going. Ya I saw that too. It was inconsistent and kind of interestingly sow sometimes it looks like he absolutely wants to be sure and takes that those extra that extra beat extra three to be sure about where the ball is going so he can make the correct decision. There's other times where it seems like. He guesses and sometimes he guesses correctly in makes a great play and then there's other times where he guesses incorrectly or maybe bite a little too hard on a play. Fake takes himself out of position and can take himself really out of position so those are things that do stand out on tape but I would say also when he does act quickly incorrectly. He is not a shy hitter. He is he a lot of times. You see knock on some of these more undersized linebackers that they aren't terribly physical while when it comes to bringing down ball. Carriers physicality is not one of cameras problems and he loves to lead with his his shoulders and income full speed at plays especially when he's tracking things from the other end of play. If he's on the opposite side he'll come flying in. He's got that speed like we've talked about and he'll come closing down ready to knock the hell out of someone. There are a couple of times on the sideline where I watched him as the guy was starting to get wrapped up and he just came flying into send them in of the sideline or not and out of balance to stop the rest of the play so he has the missile type approach. Where I'm going to knock the crap out of this guy and send him into the ground because I have the explosive capability followed by my size to make me into some type of a boulder or like a bowling ball rather and a really attack where the ball is going. The other thing though the in terms of defending the run. I was a little bit. If Yawn watching him try an stacking shed against linemen and if you're unfamiliar with what stacking and shedding means. It's what linebackers needs to do. When they are reacting and they're trying to defend the rotten they need to when someone is coming to block then extend their arms stack the Whoever's trying to block them? And then disengage to then find the ball. So when he's trying to shed it's a little bit inconsistent he's not getting as extended as I'd like him to considering the fact that he is thirty four inch arms. He doesn't really do a whole lot of that. It's a lot of when he sees contact. It's I'm going to lower my shoulder. I'm to try and knock this guy over and that's not gonNa work with a guy that is six five and three hundred plus pounds. Yeah he doesn't use his length when taking on blockers nearly as well as you as you would like to see even against like a fullback or something that he can just gets stuck on guys and especially if they can get inside of his reach inside of his arms and get their hands on him he just really struggled sedition disengaged that the good news is he does have those long levers so once he knows how to use them they will be an asset for him but right now he just doesn't have the technique and I think play strength is at times another issue when it comes to shutting blocks and making tackles going downhill saying that. He is in seems like he's not properly using the right. Technique is the perfect way to describe it and we were talking before the show. It just feels like Cam. Brown has all this physical ability going for him? The length The relative power. Maybe not the exact strength that you want all this stuff that you want. But he doesn't really use it in the proper way and I'm not saying that he wasn't coached properly but it doesn't seem like he really retained the right technique that he needs to be using. There's going to be a lot of work that needs to go into fixing some of this stuff and in line with that stacking and shedding issues when defending the run. It kind of goes in line with what I noticed when I watched him blitz. Now he has the second gear when he accelerates to really fly. Through the line of scrimmage and make a play and sometimes below past these lineman but the biggest problem. I noticed Chris Chris that if he and initiates and gets any contact with an offensive lineman. He's always leading with the shoulder. He is not using again. He's not using his extension to try. And disengage and almost bend and get around these guys. He said he's lowering his shoulder. And then going right into the chests of some of these linemen which leads to him getting washed out of the gaps that he's supposed to be responsible with playing so that is another thing that he's a bit inconsistent with which is blitzing because he's not really using that that proper technique that you'd like to see from a guy with such a length in in such a good built. Yeah I think sometimes we might look at an outside player who is six five who has thirty four arms and look and say oh he could be an edge. He has no upside well a couple of years ago..

"Every Weekday next question from zero underscore given on instagram is asking how many of the seventh rounders actually make the Roster? Love the podcast exclamation point. I think that Chris we talked about this a number of times and we also discussed it briefly on the last show a believe they took four guys. In the seventh round they had a noxious amount of picks. They drafted a ton of linebackers in the in in the seventh round as well and I think if we're being realistic here one or two of them only one or two of them are really going to make the roster. I. I can't see a situation where more than that make it? It seems like all the guys that they drafted in the seventh round are really painting them against each other in to see which ones come out step up and ended up being those depth special teams pieces for this roster warriors in one or two way too much with the amount of draft picks that they had in the amount of undrafted free agents they signed. Yeah I'll I'll probably just say one because I'm I'm even including Cam Brown in this lump of player. So you've got four linebackers defensive back. Those are two positions where the giants already as we discussed in the first half already have a ton of bodies in place so the competition is going to be fierce and there are only so many open roster spots. So what you want and hope for all of these late round. Picks to make the team to become contributors. I think the giants only get one guy to be able to step up and contribute on the main active roster that they would be doing well last question. We have for you today. On the male Mag addition of the Christian. Joe Show is from go. Giants Eighty three. His question is which player drafted after the fourth round can have the best career and I think with all the guys that they took. I'm really high on Shane. The Mu the guard slash center that they drafted from Oregon. I think he's got a really good mean streak seems like a really aggressive. Interior player will see where they end up. Actually moving him and if he plays center if he plays guard he's GonNa take a few years. Maybe at least a season before he can step in and contribute. But I think he's got a lot of potential there. I think he's got what you want in a in an interior offensive linemen and in terms of mentality. Now he's not as He doesn't have the same traits as a guy like Andrew Thomas Pert had who they drafted earlier but I think if they can work him in in the interior in and get him to be caught up at the center position. I think he could turn out to be a pretty good center for this giants team. Yeah and even. If he doesn't have the quickness the athleticism to play center I think he could be good viable eventual replacement for Kevin Zeitler. Who He isn't getting any younger he's still had the time still have he isn't getting any younger he's still has a big contract. So it's possible to see him as a cap casualty over the next couple years and lemieux could step in at right guard position and hopefully locked down long with for the next few years to even if he doesn't work out at center there is at least a path to the field for him but just different. I'm going to say Carter Coughlin. One of those seventh-round picks I had coughlan is probably about a fifth round guy so I think the giants got good value there and I think even if he doesn't carve out a role is kind of a Zach on light. I think he does have a future as a special teamer he could be like a Chase Blackburn type player remark hers. Lick type player. Who can give you some production on defense but could also play a solid decade as a special teamer and guys who have that motor. Who have that ability to be consistent contributors on all of the special teams unit. They hang around for a long time. I really really liked those cops that you had for him and what he can really step in and do. And you don't really need to talk about these guys and say like Oh they're going to become an all pro player or a pro bowl or even a top ten player at that position. I think that when you get these later on guys if they can stay with the team for an extended period of time and contribute on special teams or in spot situations at a high level. That's that's really really great to get out of them because if you think about it in most cases more so guys drafted after the sixth round. Sometimes they don't even end up making the roster's if you can get that guy to stick around for a while contribute here in their own special teams be a playmaker have a good presence in the locker room. Those are big positives for giants team that is currently rebuilding and trying to find new players. That fit the mentality of this. Coaching staff going forward. That's GonNa be it from US folks here on the Chris Joe Show mailbag. If you happen to have questions you want us to answer them. "Today's show is coming to you on Thursday April thirtieth as we continue to roll through the off season here for the New York giants continued to discuss. Some of the fallout from the twenty twenty. Nfl draft from some of the roster moves that the giants have made as Joe Judge and Dave gettleman tried to put together a better roster for the giants in the upcoming season after the giants have gone through a couple of years where I think it's twelve wins for the giants in the last three seasons. Hopefully things are going to get better with new head coach. Joe Judge What appears to be a pretty good draft class perhaps a third straight good draft class for general manager. Dave gettleman few things to To talk about with you on today's show we're going to feature a couple of interviews that I did regarding draft prospects first Andy. Yorke of SB nations. The daily Gopher it covers the Minnesota Golden. Gophers is going to come on and talk about the late. Round draft picks Carter Coughlan the linebacker and Chris. Williamson the cornerback. Both of whom were seventh-round picks. Were also going to speak with. Lando Landers Nolan of SP nations. Black Shoe diaries. Landau will be joining us to talk about sixth round. Pick Cam Brown the nittany lions linebacker. Who was the first of four linebackers? The giants drafted with their final five draft choices over the weekend. So we'll talk to both of of those guys about what we might expect from. Some of the new giants wanted to talk about a couple of things before we get to those interviews. Though giants made a couple of of interesting moves this week as they continue to try to build their roster four twenty twenty season they used a rarely used on Excuse me they used a rarely used tender on unrestricted free agent. Marcus golden in an effort to Perhaps bring golden back at a fairly low cost for the twenty twenty season. All in all I think that tender would cost the giants just a little bit more than five million dollars if golden were to sign it and meet the incentives that That are are apparently part of that as well. Interesting move rarely used move in. You know by the giants to use a tender on an unrestricted. Free agent. What they're really trying to do here. What people need to understand? Is that as of today? Golden has not signed tender. He is not part of New York giants. He won't be part of the giants roster on till unless he signs that tender with the giants have really done. Here is taking a shot at keeping golden for a year on a fairly low budget. Low cost deal. They've pretty much set market here by saying you know people other. Nfl teams who might want him. You know this is. This is the market. It's four point one or four point two million dollars plus incentives. And you know if if you're going to want Marcus Golden. You know most likely you're going to have to beat that dollar amount. Marcus golden obviously did not see the market that he thought he might see after a ten sack season with the giants in two thousand and nineteen. Didn't get the the multi year you know. Big Money offers. He might have anticipated getting in free agency. But this is the giants who weren't able to come to a deal with the with today beyond Clowney. They weren't really able to find a way to get unique in Gawk way out of the Jacksonville Jaguars. They weren't able to to find a top tier pass rusher in the draft. This is the giants taking a shot here at at keeping Marcus. Golden perhaps upgrading. Their pass rush in twenty twenty. The giants also claimed Monterey Heart. Ted A defensive back. I believe he plays safety from the Miami Dolphins on waivers. Perhaps not surprising since Patrick. Graham was defensive coordinator in Miami a year ago. That's just the giants adding some depth in the in the back of their defense. They also added Chris Williamson in the in the draft. It's and they added Xavier mckinney in the draft as well so the giants. Obviously although they've they've spent a lot of resources on the defensive backfield in recent years there obviously still trying to upgrade their. They've set up a lot of competition in in training camp whenever we get training camp. So we'll see how all of that plays out but cattleman in Enjo- judge both said over the weekend you know the settlement has said before roster building is a twelve month process. It's ongoing just because the bulk of free agency is done. Just because the draft is done doesn't mean that your roster is set doesn't mean you're done trying to find ways to improve your football team in the giants have proven that this week with the moves that they made on heart edge and on golden will see what happens when you know when we get to whenever we get to a training camp situation. A preseason situation as other players may become available. We'll see if the giants make more moves in an effort to to continue turning over in. Continue trying to improve their roster for the twenty twenty season. Alright giants fans. Let's do this right now. Let's take a short break here for a word from our sponsor after that you will hear interviews I with Andy York of the daily Gopher as we talk about Carter Coughlan and Chris Williamson and then with Lando Lenders Nolan of Black Shoe Diaries. As we talk about Cam Brown. This is Ezra Klein. Host of the PODCAST. In two thousand fifteen is what he was most afraid of a pandemic.

"Three throws by okay. A man. Okay. I mean look. We can both have the the problem is now. I feel like I have a lot of teams. I'm kind of pulling for not pulling for. It's supporting and think they're going to be good. I mean I will hate on the seahawks and the titans all day long so those are my two off a cliff teams. How ever get me back on the Vikings and I'm in nine hours till I die. Yeah that's I mean. The niners are great. Team that regress but other draft at my house at the niners regressed other draft that you were impressed by knows getting too much hype and at least say the Miami Dolphins no jets. I think the jets are getting too much hype. Joke I'm down rag on the jets just because Mekki Becton can jump out of a pool does not mean. He's good. I watch I watch King Dunlap the biggest mammoth on planet earth play for the Eagles and have more false starts than I have ever seen. I do not care what he can do necessarily in the gym. Like in my opinion he wasn't the best tackle on that board. There was that there was that group. You Still Trista. Morphs news morally highly touted. He came from Iowa who produces consistently good offensive lineman. So Expensive. Here that yeah. What's going on over there that was NFL? Part take in the second round again. They got. That was good value. Especially if it's really just I think the Beckton pick was getting a little too now even the rest though like I do like Bryce Hall at one fifty eight late in the draft. I think he could be good but like there. The jets. How are they going to develop? Jabari Zuniga Develop Ashton. David like a good team. Maybe those players plays who knows chats. Didn't take mems that's all I'm going. Yeah no I definitely wish. They had Another team so this is a this is an example of maybe going and getting your guide. The giants took Andrew Thomas of four in a loaded tackle class and they needed an offensive lineman. So you can't thought Andrew is by far the best tackle. I guess. Pack thing that you can put it. The giants really criticism about that really because everything said like there was not a clear Best tackle the giants traded back. The that's what I think. Yeah you could make that argument of course but because Ronald tackles didn't start until like ten when it was supposed to start maybe earlier because guys like Simmons and Derrick Brown moved up a little bit. Also we're going to have to rag on. The I thought Xavier mckinney was the salad pick but they did you see who the giants drafted on day. Three not a skill position player they have to Darnay homes and Cam Brown all right giants. They're really trying to get under. Your skin. Does the FAM- notes with that they don't we'll keep him in the dark if they want to know. Dm snapback fodder scam homes and Cam Brown one more. Yeah right dog right another rent. I would love to get into that actually. Thanks to start up again. I know I think you would get into this with me. Bill ballot check is not gonNA drafting. He didn't draft doesn't dog did but I don't understand like everyone gives him credit and I will bet you right now fifty dollars one hundred dollars right now that guy that came out of nowhere division to Doug Hall of fame. I don't see I don't agree with that. The thinks outage New England's first pick right it was in the second round because they trade it out the details. The second I heard the school he went to I said. Oh my God. This guy's going to the hall fan because I don't know how to spell check finest guy you know what I mean like training in the rain with some but let's let's look at his Pass draft history. I'll I'll read through them last year and Aqeel Harry First Round Kinda sucks. Should I change jury's still out on chasing Vich third-round he's he was south on the rest? Damian Howard Yodmani could use shots throw Holt Steadham Byron Coward Day three picks though I am a day three picks in the NFL draft or the equivalent to lottery tickets. Okay so I'll read up top. Isaiah when he's been Zaman Good Guy Sony. Michelle obviously helped them on Super Bowl but he drafted right back in the first round. That's embarrassing Michelle. Twenty seventeen twenty seventeen. They didn't have a first or second Twice Sixteen Cyrus Jones. You while you're doing this though. They're still winning. Super Bowls. I but hold on but we're talking about the draft and that's my point. Twenty Fifteen Malcolm Brown. Something is working in the draft. One word scenes Dominic easily twenty Twenty Twelve Channel Jones Twenty Eleven Nate Solder Twenty seven recording twenty two thousand nine Pat Chunk. Two Thousand Eight JEREM. Oh he was on fire right and my point is cold a little bit. I'm saying it's twenty fourteen. He gets all this credible time. These up don't WanNa finding these gems and I can't find the guy if you're patriots fan listening this podcast pleased the Ma and let me know what pick ballot check is made. That's UN- unbelievable. Incredible in the past five years I would love to hear. That's all I'm saying and my point is if you're GONNA go draft Lenoir Rhyme School Kyle. Duggar and then. You're going to reach on Josh. Cha and then get Devon aside and don't king because you think you can run tight ends with Jared Sitcom like relax do that's all. Do you really think the average citizens going to be their quarterback. I don't get like he's not good. I don't understand their tanking for Trevor Lawrence fact. That's GonNa be though it is going to be Doug. I thought the Panthers had very nice draft by getting Derrick Brown and grow smarter and every defensive player in the address this I know they set the record which is pretty sad. I mean we'll get today to buy let's talk about. Let's talk about the Baltimore. Ravens and this is unbiased new. No at every single person says we are the best chef by far thought. Okay thoughts congratulations. Everyone's says it. What does it well? It's a good start you want to. You know at least draft go players right. I think it's a relevant but well. Then that would make this whole podcast. Relevant so for the sake of entertain. The conversation said are being bitter instead of being better. Why don't you just say okay? So why don't we talk about it? That they did have a good draft in my opinion. That a great draft is what you said. Sorry you broke up at a great draft my opinion. I really liked Patrick Queen. Even maybe the eagles could take him. If some of the dice fell certain way. But I didn't WanNa Twenty one at that point and then I said. Do you wear face timing right before says. Dobbins here the pick and you go no way. Dobbins. I just thought that they were really like I thought they were. GonNa go man it to Iran like the Ravens are like you Kinda just you keep doubling down on something it's like it's like if the chief said drafted a top wide receiver right. They drafted another weapon right exactly. But I'm saying you know we were the number one rushing offense so it's like we take a running back and you haven't won a playoff game and how many years you just keep having to double down in the draft so in that respect the ravens are doubling down on the running game and maybe can crack that code. I got you. I don't really know necessarily much about your day. Three guys because it's day three draft. You really only pay attention to your team. And then the big names but Dobbins Patrick Wayne good work to Kosta as usual as usual. It is comforting to know every draft. You're not going to end up like who had the worst draft you could say the packers I disagree. I'm GonNa say the Los Angeles chargers just in her doesn't good. Let's just put it like that. And then they go and grab Kenneth Murray who also is in good so you waste the to fix you wasted. Two first round was to two weeks ago on Kenneth Martin you wasted two first round. Pick next Ray Lewis two weeks ago. Saudi is going to be good. I look at the tape like everyone should and he's not good. Let's talk about the Miami Dolphins Miami Dolphins get to they get Austin Jackson. Felt like that was a little bit of a reach but then going get again and go Geen three first round picks which is crazy. Robert Hunt Requ on Davis Braden. Jones felt like that was a little bit of a reach Salman Kinley Jason Stourbridge Curtis Weaver. I love that I was great late. Round value math compared pet curse weaver. Oh Nice well done. And they also picked map rate along the way so the Brady thing I obviously talked teen thing. Well not great for you. Yeah he did. He was big in our super bowl. Run but the thing is I don't really understand it because Braida you'd like him on his contract but you like him for a winning team. This season like they've joined. Howard who they're already paid and then you're GONNA have to. They were they. Were on top early and then the price is too much so i. I don't mind the Brady thing at all. I think I just don't running back. It doesn't really matter you can throw anyone in their. If it's not my point player like they gave up a fifth. Whatever I guess I just like to hold onto Jeremiah through much. Draft capital is good for the sense of. I think it's over. I think it's overvalued I feel like you feel the same I mean day. One and two picks art obviously because no make your money in terms of trading up on day. One that's my point like when when someone says you to give a one two and three. Yeah we're all here day. Three picks do you have right. I don't care about the day. Three picks which don't get me wrong. A lot of players make it out of day three amazing players but like but it's a lottery. Yeah I mean yeah I just. I don't hate the Brady thing because I think he's a running back. You put them in the right situation. Who knows are you in onto? Haven't decided I want you want to baby. You don't know if the medical okay look the medical report day to guard. Those things. Ailing hurts goes to the Philadelphia Eagles. Actually you know. Let's make the people way we have a little bit. We gotta make some money with.

No. The third one is not really a supplement while yet is it's unloaded trucks, own okay, which. Yeah. Tangents but Altron. Jill. We had that amazing wonderful interview Dr Cam Brown last week. Which I really enjoy that interview. Jin allotted to he's great. He's amazing. He already five no have any five four five rounds of four different fast. I think this year loan. Yeah. Like extended fast. So you did like pro lawn and the five day like a five water fast and his own version of the vaccine mimicking diet. So listeners that was a really fascinating episode. The actually developed a supplement called Altron -til, which he initially developed to tackle gut health and gut issues, especially with IBS, and especially those who have constipation issues, but it's completely natural. It's made from various plant compounds. And so when he will find that it radically can improve their IBS. That's how I. Versus cover it, because I start taking it, and it is one of the supplements that, I'll take it, it does amazing things for me. And, you know, if I stop taking it like I kind of when I was moving here, I kinda got out of my supplement like regimen. Then when we interviewed him at expired me to jump back in on it again, because he actually takes it for life and advocates taking it for life because of its just beneficial nature in general, for the gut microbiome and because of its polyphenol content. So I start taking it again. And every time I do that habits. Jim. Why do I stop fixes? My loading is just absolutely amazing, and all the feedback I have not received because we've received a lot of back about it. I have not received a single negative feedback from anybody. That's awesome about twenty. Unlike I mean, every other recommend it really benefit a lot of people, they, they don't seem to really work for everybody. You know, like some people don't do Sarah pep days, smut, some other supplements, we've had have worked really wealthy people, but we have received feedback for some people. They. Don't work for. "They ripped off the fifty yard or now this report another big run. These are more Menem changes kinda got Michigan jump start in the first half. Maybe they're finding the same formula here in the second half tent. Play of the drive coming up for the wolverines at second out at seven thirty. Five to receivers. Right. The q the tight end up in the backfield off to the right of Patterson. Patterson is going to hand it off the Evans, you try to spin move with a hole, and it didn't work. You get shoved backwards mica persons made the tackle no gain on the play and bring up third down at seven for the wolverines. Now, teach forty nine to go. Third quarter. Michigan fourteen Penn State nothing. Mccue missed the key block on gross Mattis to the defensive and he is disruptive. And that's why I was a defensive player of the week. A week ago. Again, he had a huge game last week nine tackles for loss. At a couple of sacks took it over in that game. Third play third down at seven hundred thirty five Patterson back shotgun with Evans to his right? Here's the snap. Patterson back throws right side. Evans wide open makes the catch twenty five. Twenty fifteen tries to skip down close to the ten mix. Scott runs at the eleven yard line. Nobody went with Evans out of a backfield. A catch and run a twenty-four really nice play call here. Expand track. Again, Penn State's been loading up the box, and all of a sudden you sneak Chris Evans out of the backfield. Nobody on them. They don't identify correctly. Big big. I out first and ten from the eleven Patterson takes the shotgun. Snap Patterson's gonna keep it running left side. And it between the hash marks. He dives down about the seven yard line, Parsons and Johnson combined on a stop or run a four for shape Patterson, and that will bring up second down at six and here comes all tight ends now for Michigan. We're gonna bring three of them into the ball game. Whoa. Marines back in the huddle. Up towards the line of scrimmage. They'll send a single wide receiver out wide to the left. They up two tight ends. Right. One of the left. Toronto victim back in the Patterson. Who's back in the shotgun. Probably seven yard line of field. Patterson gets the shotgun snap. He fixed. The handle throws. Let's now Michigan. Zac, gentry the tight end right in the middle of the end zone. Patterson put it off. Hi, gentry it at a seven yard touchdown pass. And with fifty six seconds to go with a third. It's Michigan twenty Penn State nothing. Beautiful play. Call on the pop pass you fake the inside so run. And then gentry is what I want against Cam Brown. Linebacker for Penn State. That's easy. Pop pass to the back of the endzone easy pitcher catch when Nordine on for the extra points out of a hold the plumber will works. She's been is the man that will snap it Nordine. This year has made thirty five or thirty six is kick his all the way, and you could make it thirty six of thirty seven as he bangs it through type restoring update will sit back Jason Horowitz in our Westwood One studio. "Down into Nittany lion territory, but this need to finish at the end in those. Dr Patterson will start at the gun to receivers. Let tight ends on either. Here's the snap. Patterson handed off the Higgins sweeping cuts. It up inside the numbers, and he takes it out to a twenty four yard line. Robert Windsor, the defensive tackle made the stop. So a short gain of one of the run by Kerala hiccup that will put up at one hundred yards in the ball game today. His. Seven one hundred yard game of the year. All six of his big ten games, you said triple digits now he will check out. His Chris Evans comes in for the second down blood. Second down nine ball. The right hash. Evidence is gonna light up wide to the right side to receiver is out there. Three receivers left. Patterson in the backfield brings McCue the tight end emotion. Right. Addison waiting on the snap. He's got a quick pass right side caught by Evans numbers. Looking for a block gets one spins over the twenty five and he's out to about the twenty eight the twenty nine yard line. Got the ball to the hands of Chris Evans, Shariq Miller, the guy that pop Evans he was able to spin forward. They give him progress to the twenty nine five it'll bring up a manageable third-down now it'll be third down at about four for the wolverines on the opening possession of the second half. Nice play call because you've got two tight ends out. There. You mentioned Mchunu went mostly also at Zach gentry to get the big blocks down the field for Evans to get up field. Get what he get suic- RAs lap two receivers. Right. Baked into the ball game to the right of Patterson. Harry, the wide receiver goes in motion for right to left. There's the shotgun. Snap Patterson back against the four band. Rossi throws over the middle. And it's incomplete pass was a little bit behind the q the intended receiver. He couldn't hang on. Cam Brown was on the coverage and that will bring out the Michigan team. Tough catch mccune on that in Paterson was trying to protect the putting on his back hip on the cuts would have been tough to haul in is Penn State was there in great covered. So we'll heart out to put it away. K J hamblur goes back deep to return, the Andrei Tompkins has been the punt returner, but they're sending handler their big-play guy back here that they can get a spark art standing just inside the fifteen Benz down to get a low snap. Here comes the kicki drills. This one a high spiraling pick handle his lap. He's got around the twenty seven was right to get outside of thirty. Thirty five yard line comes in as he is taken out of the thirty six now a little crass clocking between K J hamblur at Embry Thomas who made the tackle a forty four yard kick a nine yard return. But let's see this one is coming back at Weiqing flying in about twenty yards away. During the return illegal blocking the back return team number forty ten yard penalty. I down and ten so instead of Penn State having pretty good field position. They'll get moved back here. The officials will step off the penalties. It's gonna take Penn. "Absolutely. Taking advantage of the football against is really good Penn. State defense now Indiana's offense, I'm a field deepen their own five as Dave Ramsey sets up. The offense was Stevie Scott. Who was right? Here's the staff. Scott comes off left tackle left guard and tackle and rubs it out some near the ten yard line. So nice powerful boob. Again, utera gross mottos breaks the tackle for Penn State along with Cam Brown. And they're gonna market down. Right after ten this offensive line is coming off the football the best. I've seen it since maybe Florida international. They are coming back off, and they are knocking this Penn. State defense back second down at five Ramsey takes the staff. What's throw it wa- got bad down. I think or did he go down. If you went down. I think Peyton started to throw the football. And then just kind of pulled it in and he got sacked by eater gross Matosa once again and this time it cost Indiana some yardage back to the four. I don't know how he held onto that. I don't either. I mean, he looked like he was gonna throw it. He had one hand on it. And then got I think the tackle kept the ball on him Indiana had a wrong route. They're they're two guys within two yards. This is a tough situation here. Now, very down and eleven. And. Now. Mike Majette moves to the right. Peyton Ramsey takes the staff in the end zone. He's gonna read about himself. He's apt to the ten yard line stutter steps as well. Very close to a first. It's absolutely seventeen yard line. And they'll move to chains. He's just a little bit of a move with his feet for some of the Fender off in his inside, and then got outside and again that was a quarterback draw all the way paid with the first down run thirteen yards on the play great job by Peyton Ramsey. Scott back in the game but running back and he'll get the call. They'll go right up the middle. And he breaks a tackle any way across the twenty to the twenty three online Roche Matosa again in the tackle Jared Taylor. But Indiana picks up a nice checkered sage on the first day. I tell you if they can run the football like that on first down. It's going to be a long day for the Spence day defense second down and four anti backfield. Now. But again, Scott moves into the backfield. Now's they shift around and Ramsey wipes. "Matter who was back there in Barkley included. So now, it's the same. It's the same Penn State team here right now he's got to make the big plays that it gets sick. He made last year or a Hamilton made last year or Barclay mate. Linebacking core. The normally Penn State's got some the best linebackers in the country. But we don't hear about these guys. Well, right now, Jan Johnson. Who didn't play at all last year? He's our middle linebacker. It's young out there there, then I started talking about Parsons and five star linebacker who has never played linebacker in highschool now playing linebacker here. So there's growing pains there to to to get that you were having running game in the passing game. And there's been some confusion there right now. Jesse cat is another five-star kidding. Really good player for us right now. Cam Brown has played well so far for us. We've probably been the most consistent linebacker, Jack. What are you seeing Indiana that concerns you as far as Penn State's concerned? Well, I think receiver to have out there. I mean, you got to be a tough game here. Two years ago, we played here kind of broke open in the fourth quarter turnovers, but that was a back and forth game. And you're coming off a couple of losses. We're coming off a couple of losses. I think whoever has a better mental mental state. I think on this football game will end up winning at any critical factors for Penn. State. Think protection? I think he's going to be a key today if we can protect you for their for McSorley and get one split-second longer to throw a football. We didn't have against Ohio State or Michigan state. I think we can do that right now. Able to get some big plays because we'd have not at big plays into passing game last couple of weeks. And when you look at the passing game today that may be a problem in shell just because the wind supposedly it's going to be up to twenty five thirty miles an hour. Yeah. That's always the case for quarterbacks. I mean, they can get a cold as a wet balls, dry, whatever. But win it really is going to be an issue. So both teams come in here. Don't have much of a running game figured it's gonna be a three forty five type game here right now. But with the and may change some things are thank you very much. Jack, not a coach. I know what you could play one. Jackhammers? We talked to them before today's ballgame about this match up with Indiana hoosiers are scouting report is always brought to you by Nissan. Nissan knows game day is all about the game winning drive so rolled has available technologies that will help make the day's best dried getting to the stadium. "The big play thirty six yard completion to the redshirt. Freshman K Jay hamblur who ended up taking a targeting foul as well. And on the suing Blake or a couple of plays later a touchdown pass from trace McSorley to Pat fryer moose his second touchdown catch at the airports. Penn State on top twenty two fourteen. They took advantage of the backup. Jason who was in for prior who is checked it by throwing rate to where he was the kickoff to go into the end zone. Johnny Dixon takes a fair catch. It'll be first attempt at the twenty five. Five for the buckeyes. This is the twenty eighth straight game. Penn State has scored twenty or more. They finally got their offense going there, by the way on that drive. Trace McSorley had the big pass play. But he also ran it. He's now run it seventeen times for one hundred and nineteen yards. He's also completed fourteen of twenty seven passes for two hundred thirty eight yards and two touchdowns. Ohio State takes over trailing by six with j k Dobbins of the backfield twelve and twenty two to go. This crowd a record crowd at beaver stadium on their feet. Luke feral motion bands to the H back on the left side. Dobbins the end around Paris Campbell wide open across the thirty in gliding out to a forty diving forward to the forty three as Penn State's entire defense was chasing Dobbins and the reverse goes to Campbell for a gain of eighteen great play call of Gandhi, call and Penn State's plan aggressive, and I don't blame them. I would continue the play that and make them beat us. Oh, counter out. They've been have handed passing Wayne Haskins. Sophomore quarterback fifteen of thirty to give up front to Dobbins and Dobbins a smothered at the line of scrimmage. No gain Cam Brown. The weakside linebacker there for the tackle. It has a perfect example. That was a read option over there. Theoretically hasn't suited kept that ball half. Off focus on on Dobbin hasn't got to run that ball under twelve to play a six point Penn State lead over the buckeyes give the Dobbins again right up the gut on the read option and trailing on the play making the tackle is show. Reef Miller that sets up of HIV it'll third down in this contest, bitcon big-time way state. They stopped me here. The moment momentum is on their side. Ohio a good opportunity to take the momentum back push the ball down at rope. Third and sixth borough state there to thirteen on third down they need to get to the lion forty-seven Haskins steps up under pressure completes to Paris Campbell who spun down immediately, but he stretches the football out with two hands to the forty seven of Penn State, and they say it is short. But it it can't be by much maybe six inches. John Reid with a quick tackle. Will you know, the buckeyes are gonna go for it here on the season three of four coming into the game. One of two tonight, rather one of one tonight. I don't know. I gotta watch this Mark. I wouldn't be surprised Ohio State count with Mark. Sure looked like he made it. Ohio State out of the pistol with a blocking back in front of the building. I take it back Haskins kept it, but he didn't make it either. Either way Penn State with a stand on fourth down Kevin Kevin's wrap the quarterback up and I'm up here guys. Crawl out here. They've got new stadium and over here. So the Penn State fourth quarter magic has continued through the first three and a half minutes of this fourth quarter. They've outscored their last three opponents in the fourth seventy two zero. Now, it's only a seven zero margin. But that was a big defensive stand her Penn State a six point Nittany lion. Lead a top ten matchup for the first time in nineteen years in front of a record crowd at beaver stadium in trace McSorley will strap back in the pocket? And hammer go wide receiver a redshirt. Freshman dragging across the middle of the field at the thirty five. Pete catches it at the left hashing turns it up for a couple more gain of twenty one St. David Arnett, finally the stop the alliance back on the football. And that was all big sorely given hammer running a fellow cloth. And make sure we had an opportunity to run the ball wide receiver open up a decided to make the past Heisman Trophy performance. That's a great observation a field general. And that's what he brought to the table Damon Arnett shaken up a little bit on the play has his helmet off the training. Staff is out to check on him. That'll slow Penn State's momentum for a moment. Ten minutes. Five seconds to play. Penn. State led this game thirteen to nothing then the buckeyes put up fourteen straight seven at the end of the first half and seven on the opening possession of the second half. There'll be a time out on the field. Penn State twenty Ohio State fourteen we'll take a quick break. You're listening to compass media networks your home for NCAA football..

"They've got fifty six yards in the first step one for six on third down. They've either punted or thrown interception on all of them. I had a chance to watch Haskins on that last play that lasts third-down scenario. When you ran outside the pocket. He wasn't trying to get a first down. He does look a little frightened to me. I mean, if you hit this guy, you keep hitting he might have been it appears that he's been in a little bit, Greg. And I don't see that heart that it takes more of a book. I used to see him on the field going full speed as we go past it slowdown in floor behind his level plant. What's interesting about this is for the last several years, Ohio State had T baron and this guy in this situation against the Nittany lions. And in other situations. He was always so good. But rise to the occasion will that happened today. JK Dobbins in the backfield next to Wayne Haskins the sophomore quarterback who's been amazing you'll role to his right throwing high in the air sales it over the Buckeye. I bench. He does look uncomfortable. Tony incomplete second down, and he wasn't even close. And with even worse. There's still bringing it his days not changing their defense of philosophical approach. They're going seven men in the box. Most certainly bringing the linebacker on every play force. It has to throw the ball in a hurry, and he's had no success whatsoever. And the success of this Nittany lion defense only has this crowd getting louder four man rushed for the Nittany lions Haskins under pressure throwing completes this one to Paris Campbell who has caught immediately and spun out of bounds at the thirty seven yard line. Pickup of. Seven on the plane leaves him about three yard short. They ended up getting an offsides. Call on Penn State on that kickoff. So they took over I attended the thirty instead of the twenty five it's John Reid with the tackle third and three here for Ohio State. They are one for six on third down the need to get to their own forty empty backfield Haskins facing a seven man front but five coming after growing an an complete. He was looking for Terry MacLaurin. It's incomplete near the feet of MacLaurin Cam Brown was closed, but that's a pass that he could complete though Brown closed on that pretty well may have got a handle the football. Well, I can tell you one thing for sure they had a great situation with JK Dobbs on the outside as a running back in motion on a swing at took it up field. No one was covered with the bottom line is looking at all you watching is this the Blitzer front. He's not looking at a second receivers. He is totally out of sync. The Andre Tompkins will not return this point. Instead, it's the. Dangerous K J hamblur, drew Crispin will put it away. Bangs it high hamblur drifts, right? He's going to take it up to twenty on the right? See hamblur? Hesitates wants now spins across the twenty five along the numbers on the right side to the twenty eight yard line. Jeffrey, Okuda and other tackle a forty three yard punt and an eight yard return. Penn State takes over leading thirteen to nothing over the buckeyes with five seventeen to play in the first half. I am honestly shocked by the way this game has gone in the first half. I you can't put all the responsibility on what particular person, but he has not performed to the level that he's been we've been accustomed to watch them play on the flip side is well, the office line is not giving them time to throw. I mean, we're talking about a top notch organization. They've got to make some adjustments in a hurry. The Nittany lions have two hundred and fifty seven yards but one hundred and forty of them come on two plays. And this defense for the buckeyes has been susceptible to big blade. Sanders out in front of the wheel route as McSorley through the lobby up to him down the far sideline tipped. It. Nearly threw it back to himself. But. Leak Harrison finally swipes it away with the left fingertips. Incomplete. Second ten, and I think if thoroughly with this ball on the money standards takes is to the house. We have you ever watched Sanders. Run one guy doesn't take him down. And it was him and one guy between the goal line standards. Bringing that home trace McSorley eight for fifteen tonight for one hundred and eighty two yards thirty three straight games with a touchdown pass. What a run for McSorley the read option McSorley, what a cut in the backfield to avoid the pressure coming on the inside ends up picking up five before he stopped by Maliki Harrison, and that'll bring up third and fairly long a third and seven we'll give three yard gain on that third and seven for the Nittany lions under five to play in the first half. We'll house it was getting very comfortable in have good formation. They were bringing seven or eight guys in the blitz and they get beat up with a quick pass the hamblur in the in the close in the same situation right now. We'll see what happens in this point rear receivers on the left side to on the right miles Sanders now motions back in the backfield. I doc gained for the Penn State at their own thirty nine McSorley flushed out throwing from nearly as knees intended for a wide open, MAC and hammer who had it on two hands at the forty five. But he can't haul it in chase young with good pressure on McSorley to force the throw. And now it's fourth down for Penn. State McHugh Mannheimer. He's gotta make that catch. You. I'm talking about. You're talking about a big time player. He threw that ball from a sidearm position. He only had one opportunity to throw the ball. He turned sideways through this as us fall into the ground. And he put the ball on. The money was fear. Is gotta catch that ball thought. They might review. It looked like his knee hit Gilligan bangs this punt high. It'll take a bouts for the Nittany lions. Nice play. By k j hill to snatch it out of the air. It was a forty three yard punt. If he doesn't snatch it though that thing's gonna keep rolling for another ten yards or more rows the first time. I've really seen it Ohio State player. Really catch the ball right now. Ohio State is really got to pick it up. I mean, they've got it got a lot of young players out there. And we get that here. You got a team has been sworn fifty four points game a team that scored seventy seven points in a game. They put points on the board. They gotta get with it. And and make some things happen and propen state. Their offense is better in the second half. They averaged thirty five and a half points a game in the second half. So almost sixty percent of their. Scoring Mike Weber in the backyard. The thing about this Buckeye offense. They can get it going pretty quickly. They're still only down to scores Weber to the left side. He'll be trailed of tackled after a gain of three as he tried to get it going this guy running game just can't seem to get going as camp Brown makes the defensive play alliance or you're talking about the running game can't go in the passing game. We got a question has been dismal at best. If I'm Ohio State. I think we've got to try to get the running game to give them a little bit more. A little bit more comfortable in the backyard backs in the backfield shotgun formation, here's Peres Campbell taking it out of the split back for Mason. And he'll get back to the original line of scrimmage, this Penn State defense along the linebackers of the secondary. They are quick to the football. Tariq Castro fields that time up to make the play. You're absolutely correct. They are controlling the line of scrimmage every plate. I mean every play they've got at least one or two guys in the backfield. It's not Miller was not given the not Windsor of his not Cam Brown. These guys have been really make a big quake buckeyes won for seven on third down. They need to pick up seven here Haskins in trouble in the pocket. Steps away from a defender stops some throws late complete to Mike Weber. But a penalty flag at the line of scrimmage Askins looked like he could have run for a first down there. And he threw that away to Weber and Webber was tackled. Short say prince likely going to pick up a penalty here. And that's a perfect example. It wouldn't have mattered. Number fifty nine. Declined. Back. It would have mattered because then they would have been able to replay the third down if Haskins had gotten the first down, and boy Isaiah prince has had a rough first-half. He's at a couple of penalties that have gotten him in trouble. And now it's fourth down punting situation for Ohio State de'andre Tompkins back into return the punt the seventh for drew Christmas in the game. And you talk about an office a line and Abbas about three hundred five pounds on that office line. They're not getting the job done. Put a perfect example has been ran the ball and got the first down. It's all about moving to change elected. Not to that gives you an idea where you've mindset is in this game. Brisbane gets this one off under pressure penalty flags come in likely. Roughing the kicker situation as it's field it on a fair catch by the Andrei Tompkins at the twenty six of Penn State. But that ball is probably going to go back. We'll see the discussion the Penn State player may have been pushed into him. There is no. The sharpen die of our veteran producer Doug westerman telling me that was coming to be wiped off the board. I can tell you right now. Pam Brown with taking slow stroll to the sideline because he was the one that was the victim or part of that that that call over there as a result he picked up his stride. And when he found out that wasn't on him. So drew Christmas seventh punt of the game. He had only had thirteen in the four previous games. He's got half of that margin. In the first half of this one thirteen to nothing Penn State with the lead and the football to forty four to play take over at their own twenty five against the fourth ranked buckeyes give two miles Sanders. He lost the football. And there is a scrum for it at the twenty five to get there. Untangle these players three timeouts left for Penn. State to the buckeyes Ohio State says they came up with the football. We're waiting for an official indication. They did second turnover. The game the first one for the Nittany, lions and Sanders just lost that football. Borland got to. I might a stripped it out of their Raymont Jones is the one who comes up with it. And that is a huge turnover for an offense for Ohio State that hasn't even sniffed this part of the field. I liked that they have not with the key on the situation was I believe chased me truly held onto the football too long. When you're running read odds Gobi, and you got to remember the runningback Sanders. He's looking at the whole he doesn't look at the quarterback. And the quarterback has got to let that go. Let him know that, you know, either he's gonna make the one or you're gonna hand the ball off as result way to wait. I'll say makes a big big opportunity for the buckeyes their offense has absolutely sputtered in the first step. But with a score they could be within six thirteen to nothing, but it d- Lyons with the lead. State will take over after the fumble wall at the twenty five yard line ball on the near hash buckeyes, the silver helmets with the scarlet letters or numerals. The Buckeye leaf on.

"High alternate great kids here. This is the real deal this first round draft material Penn State in the red zone. Throwing the Tommy Stevens behind the plate Stevens on the football before. Tough Borland can get there and down at that ball was passed backwards. And I think they were setting up a throw from Stevens which seemed like that's why they ran some of the plays earlier the Andrei Topken's open downfield Penn State backs themselves out of the red zone. They've scored on twenty two straight red zone trips including twenty one touchdowns it had to sit up perfectly Stevens just dropped the ball. I can tell you right now. The Andre Tompkins was wide open in the end zone. He catches that ball. It's a touchdown. A loss of thirteen on the place that's up second in twenty three from the Buckeye thirty with an alliance McSorley throwing to the nearside to on Johnson halls at in along the boundary here immediately by me Harrison. Down on the twenty three. And that will set up third and still very long were you talking about? Getting another chance to want to drop the ball earlier in the game going across the middle. UT can't catch him. But that went down the sideline he can drop three or four more balls is still be okay with that time. Alliance over to on third down. Drips left. Now Sanders gonna motion into the backfield. He has a Tatum for look confused now he'll settle in next to McSorley. What's coming up, the gut from the buckeyes pick it up to the nearside that is complete to Johnson again at the fifteen yard line. Short of the first down marker though Jeffrey Okuda with the stops. Penn State's gonna bring on the kick team. This has been a very weak spot for them. Jake Pentagon just one for three his long is thirty two yards. He's a freshman from Anchorage Iowa is oh for two from beyond forty. This one will be thirty four yarder. Or you're talking about the field goal that last pitch. And we talked about a one hand kicked by his catch was an outdated catches. Well, and make sure we put the ball right on the money. File will send it back to Blake. Gilligan? Good snap. Good hold kick is on the way for Pentagon. And it is. Penn State, scratches I with four fifty eight. To play in the first quarter. They go up on Ohio State three to nothing teeth consecutive quarter that Penn State has put points on the board this year. Well, you watch the game. If you're Penn State, you gotta like where you are the momentum is your morale is high the guys on the driller is at an all time hot on the flip side door, Ohio State. They're pretty much, you know, middle of the pack their demeanor. It is kinda holding things down if they could stay in the game under the circumstances. They could create a problem later in the game. Think about the buckeyes. They can answer very quickly. They also average fifty five points per game. It's a little surprising. We've had three possessions and only three points in Penn State gonna leave themselves thinking about what might have been after the great catch by Johnson. And then the backup play on the trick play. That was open except for the execution when Tommy Stevens couldn't hall the pass. It will that both. Thirdly was a great catch without a question. It will be on ESPN tonight. No question about. But remember this though, the game is not one in the first quarter. And they've got they've got a pick it up. I like what? Penn State is doing defensively they're bringing it there. Putting pressure on has forcing him to throw the ball earlier other than I pass we rolled out. Don't agree. Daba containing Rafael Chaco will kick it away for the midday lions from left to right. They'll send it high end over end backing Johnny Dixon up at sales over his head. It'll be a touchback the buckeyes. We'll take it. First and ten at the twenty five after the Penn State drive that resulted in a field goal. Eight plays sixty three yards over three minutes. Thirty seven seconds. John Johnson had three catches on the drive all of them. Outstanding McSorley six of seven for eighty nine yards. So far this game. He's also rushed to three times for eighteen here with a national audience checking in on. Absolutely. You're talking about the Heisman hopeful. Like a high school player right now. He's getting a lot of depth. The buckeyes break Mike Weber in the junior tailback K J hill boasts the backfield Askins throws to hill on the far side wide receiver screen, and he'll gonna be stood up by Cam, Brown and driven backwards. Impressive. Jan Johnson gets there as well. And the pads into hill they'll still pick up a couple of yards on forward momentum at a drinks up. Second and eight located. It's gotta go gotta go north and south when you catch the ball. We had a scene when you're a receiver of his magnitude a guy who can make things happen. You gotta go more. Wall at the twenty-seven the give to Mike Weber up the gut at Weber is hammered in the whole by Cam Brown the linebacker. This running game is not what we're used to Ohio State. But normally they've been running the quarterback option, and there's no option now, it's just straight handoffs, and they're running backs aren't finding land draft. That's the bottom line. They got a quarterback with a drop that quarterback pocket quarterback. They've got to put him in a situation where they could go the ball in a hurry. You got a seven man line against the buckeyes over one on third down that can pick up a first out here by getting past their own thirty five on third and seven three and fifty to go in the first quarter. Shotgun for Haskins growling. It goes into the hands of K, J hill and comes out John Reid. The star safety was in the backfield covering stripped it out with the right hand. And the buckeyes have a second straight three at out. There was an Afghani play by read and again KTAR he'll just stop the class. And he he's got to make that point. I'm not talking about a page a hill. I'm referring to he's got to catch that ball. But here on the food side, what has taken place out there. Greg is at Penn State of bringing their put seven million the line. They're forcing them to make the play in a hurry through Christmas back to part. They came after him last time did the alliance. We'll send this one away de'andre Tompkins grits backwards. A G will take it at the twenty two didn't call fair cats, and he gets a run over immediately lucky too young on the football. It's so Penn State will start after the fifty yard punt return tonight's presentation of NCAA football is brought to you by Buffalo Wild Wings. Five dollar game pitchers cocktails cheeseburgers Braatz when football is on. You have to be at Buffalo Wild Wings. Price and participation vary. It's early in the game yet, Tony like you said nobody wins in the first quarter. But Penn State outdoing Ohio State one hundred three twenty three yards so far. And I've been impressed by the Nittany lion defense. They've been very aggressive and they've looked very quick the offense back on the field for Penn. State now miles Sanders in the backfield. Again, McSorley will throw good type in the line McSorley out the right side. Good. Is the buckeyes this fifty one yards chemical Sheffield Farley? Can you save boom? I mean, this is green today. He knows how how much how important this game is and his impact on this game has been tremendous. Without it you've done it with his feet McSorley? Why it's the beaver stadium crowd with a wave of the hand. And they get back to the wind scripted shimmy quick gift to vile Sanders. He's gonna lose yard as the defensive tackles close in on a aunt Joan's. Maybe the best defensive tackle, certainly, maybe the most athletic defensive tackle at all of college football. We've got a question. He was a guy that had an opportunity to go pro last year elected to go one more year play along with both, of course, both desert, but this kid can play legal team at tackle the big time player trips left for the the lions as McSorley goes out of the shotgun gift again. The Sanders up the right has bullying his way for a couple of yards. And that'll bring up third and seven for the alliance. We've seen them do this couple times burst down the field and then stutter a little bit. When they got inside the thirty rather than read off to and I can tell you what you're gonna see McSorley when the ball little bit more, it appears Penn State has made it I mean, Ohio State has made a conscious effort to stop Sanders. Running the ball drips left for the day lions over three on third down. They need to get past the Buckeye nineteen buckeyes tried to get another stop on their own end of the field. Two receivers left tight receivers to the right mix early pumps wants now. Pups twice decides to run a little bit later this time, and he'll be sacked for a two yard laws. Chase young other times he committed earlier that helped it a half beat longer. And she got the second step. I concur with you. I think in that particular case he took off with it. He's got great running ability. He's a big time player. And that's what they expect you out on the net particular case give Ohio State a lot of credit because they went to bump bump and run man to man on the outside. Me to make a decision early McSorley at rushed for sixty nine before that way. Now, sixty seven fifty one of them coming on the big play. This one will be a forty six yarder for Jake pinker, the freshman from Anthony Iowa made his last one this would be the longest of his career it has enough distance. And it is no good. He pushed left and so three promising drives for Penn State into Buckeye territory. They have only three points to show for it. And the Buckeye defense has to be happy because they know their offense. I would think we'll get going. And again, we're talking about we're talking about Ohio State. What are they concerned about? One is big plays runs. A fifteen fifteen runs over twenty yards or more. They'd given up. A big fifty one yard McSorley Kinney stopped at the defense has been very good from the standpoint of bending, but not break and been a really good job. The right now, the offense is the situation that fluttering Ohio State. JK topics of the backfield is the buckeyes takeover after the best field goal and Dobbins will get it. Try to turn the corner. Kevin Kevin's that offensive. Tackle busted, the play up at chase down the running back from behind and Penn State looks like right now they got twelve defenders out there. They don't but figuratively speaking they are getting to the gaps against the buckeyes puts it on every play. They're put seven men in the box is saying, hey, we know run option with asking back beer. So this is forced him to throw the ball downfield loss of three on the play for Ohio State. Second and thirteen ball twenty-five asking says three receivers bunched on the left to the right wall of the right right to left. Let's coming from the linebackers up the middle of the flat nearly picked up by Tariq Castro fields. He went backwards behind assuming miscommunication between a receiver and quarterback there. But I tell you what fuels business you can have one or more opportunity. They ran a rook pattern on the outside. They were not on the same page. We're talking about a quarterback percentage of completion percentage is seventy five percent. He's three for six hundred seventeen yard in this house for this quarter third and long for the buckeyes at their. They're all twenty-five you to pick up thirteen hair. Thirty-seven Nittany lions up on the line of scrimmage Cam Brown, showing blitz now poa farmer, the linebacker walks to the left side may still come after Haskins the quarterback they sent five Haskins throwing early Austin MAC as it on the far side. Penn State going to rush defenders to him at the thirty two to recast grow fields and mix. Scott leave him five yards short of the first down. It looks like Penn State saying we're gonna come after you, you may complete it. But you're not gonna have a chance to run the long routes. They'll get you the first down. You're absolutely correct. That's exactly what's taking place. They with on every plate not just one single play every play and they'd be successful by controlling awhile. We are nearing the end of the first quarter. Just the exactly the shootout we set me as far as scoring Penn. State three Ohio State, nothing the buckeyes will. But when we come back.
