Laguna Woods Shooter Was a China Communists Sympathizer

"Details on the California church shooting Sunday have now come up. Turns out it's a chai calm sympathizer. That's right. A fan of the Chinese Communist Party went and shot up the Geneva Presbyterian Church in laguna Woods. He also brought explosives. It could have been far worse than the one dead and 5 wounded. Doctor John Chang, a physician, is a hero. He ran at him, it took a bullet, doctor Cheng died, but sufficiently disturbed the killer that the other parishioners, including the pastor, were able to hit him with chairs, knock him down, tie him up, take his two guns and not allow him to shut off the explosives.

"I've still got a lot of fight left in me We see it as a Asian Pacific American community We see it in terms of a big people from all parts of the Latino community which is very diverse And it's just not right And our human Benny Thompson for years has been pleading for there to be stronger attention to and objection to any domestic terrorism And that's what this is domestic terrorism Okay Speaker Pelosi As I was saying when we opened the show this hits close to home because it is home This is I shopped at top supermarket In fact it was on the transit It's on the transit in lakeport Oh The one that I shopped out as a kid like my whole life and then in Buffalo When I was answering the phone he got kicked In fact I lived entirely Because I only made minimum wage for most of my adult life until But Topps popcorn and then also their corn muffins Subsisted primarily on corn from tops Supermarket Okay Okay I lived in my first apartment in Buffalo I had a community bathroom and then the second one was above the pizza parlor which is the only thing that kept the apartment warm When I was entering the phone at yucky But anyway Wow Yeah I just want fun facts I never knew you rented an apartment with a community bathroom Community bathroom Yeah Wow It's just a one room Are you like in the boarding house Listen I made minimum wage answering the phone at young What decade was this where they had these kinds of slummy conditions Okay You lived in a tenement What was going on I was a kid just in college Are you okay How old were you 21 What year was this Listen let's not get into math That's hard They allowed those in 2001 Okay Wow Anyway And then we had another shooting out here but knocked this because that's in America where one shooting knocks the next one out of the news But this one was just particularly and also is it like word for word from a Tucker Carlson monologue The white replacement theory that this whole espoused purchased his weapon legally isn't that nice passing a background check but altered it with a high capacity magazine that is illegal under New York law He was investigated last June as we mentioned last hour for making a threatening statement The investigation was initiated when he expressed interest in committing a murder suicide in response to a school assignment asking for high school seniors plans after graduation He claimed to be joking Isn't that what most Republicans do Trump included always says oh it was some sort of joke that I was making Yeah Except that none of the rest of us can figure out how that would be funny And they're not So there was a state mental health law right He was taken into custody but it's just again we hear these all the time where there appears to be all of these warnings and here we are again White supremacists were responsible for more murders than any other political streams last year like we needed to study for this right Yeah They account for 55% of extremist murders in the last ten years We were reviewing the Walmart in El Paso At 23 people were killed wounding 24 That was the deadliest attack on Latinos in modern U.S. history He was his court picker showed he was targeting quote Mexicans He wrote a racist manifesto saying he wanted to quote stop Hispanic invasion of Texas That last hour better will work said this is Trump rhetoric verbatim almost That this guy used 2019 shooting at the San Diego synagogue killed one wounded three 2018 massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue 11 people were murdered That was the deadliest attack ever on Jews in the United States in 2019 9 black worshippers were killed during a Bible study at a church in North Carolina I mean as I keep saying Saturday in Buffalo just the latest right Yeah Ah it was good He had researched local demographics while looking for places with a high concentration of black residents arriving there at least a day in advance to conduct reconnaissance Ah the mayor said the individual came here with the express purpose of taking as many black lives as he could He had previously threatened the shooting as we mentioned at his school It just seems like there's always some history of something in these right They're working to confirm this It was this racist 180 page manifesto the detailed the plot and mentioned him by name obviously So social media let's talk about that for a minute Twitch said it took it ended his transmission less than two minutes after the violence started This is like the new generation of this He live streamed this right From a camera on his helmet right He repeatedly visited sites espousing white supremacist ideologies and race based conspiracy theories extensively researched the mass shootings in Christchurch New Zealand the man who killed dozens at a summer camp in Norway in 2011 And again I was saying this is what happens from Fox News making Kyle rittenhouse a hero From him hearing when he was 15 the press of the United States say both you know there's fine people on both sides of Charlottesville I mean okay Yes it outlines a racist ideology rooted in a belief that the United States should belong only to white people all others the document were replacers who should be eliminated by force or terror the attack was intended to intimidate all non white non Christian people and get them to lead in the country And then out here this was southern one person dead 5 others injured in a Southern California church I was saying I was talking to the guy that who I was feeding yesterday Yes He enjoyed my stir fry very much by the way I didn't even heard about the one was it two days ago and where was it Milwaukee This is where we are Unless we have a high it's like a video game Well you have a high enough carnage count You're like did that even make the news cycle I mean this is every single day in America This was Geneva Presbyterian Church out here Okay Lawyer boy Okay so this is 18 years old heavily armed I'm just trying to think I miss any details Okay you put a gun to his neck the police were able to arrest him I just okay I'm not going to say it but I just If this is sort of a black suspect would he have been taken into custody It's just this is part of I feel like the normalization of racism that happens every day here right So you know we talked about Kyle rittenhouse who got to buddy around with the cops after he just he went and haunted black people and murdered them He posted a manifesto And you have Stanley semitic race I mean it's just they all go together Don't they In terms of it doesn't matter fill in the blank blacks Jews Al sharpton was saying yesterday the president should hold a summit I mean I don't know what else we can do at this point but with every race because they've all been targeted because of let's start with Trump's racism and a lot of it The attacks on Asians because of him saying Kung flu and China virus over and over again attacks on Latinos because of his border policy Yeah He started his campaign with banning Muslims I mean it's just boy we've hit every race that you know he just made it okay I guess to to target anybody that is different than you And it's all right let me take a minute Take a couple calls Kate and Milwaukee hello Kate Welcome Well I got on really fast Good morning everybody Good morning So first of all Travis your tweets to stefanik is on fire this morning Thank you Stop She's trash She is trash let her know she is trash She put out a.

Supreme Court upholds exemptions to Obamacare contraceptive mandate

"And now as promised, we're going to talk about these two Supreme court decisions that were rendered Earlier this morning and a 7 to 2 vote. The Supreme Court ruled this morning in favor of two California churches, arguing they should not have to face employment discrimination lawsuits brought by former teachers. The ruling makes it so that religious schools are exempt from most employment discrimination claims, expanding religious freedom, and the Supreme Court today also cleared the way for the Trump administration to expand exemptions for employers who have religious or moral objections to Complying with Obama's care, Obamacare's contraceptive mandate and we're going to talk with David Levin, Professor. You see Hastings College of the law about these rulings and other Supreme Court decision is expected to come. Welcome David Levin. Always good to have you with us. Good morning. Good morning to you and well, we got a couple of examples here. The court, citing with religious groups and religious liberty, don't wait. We sure do. I think this is gonna end up being a trilogy with one from a couple weeks ago involving those private schools in Montana, where the Supreme Court said that Montana and many other states could not limit public school funds. That school's off school funds to go to religious schools and in these two as you, said, the one involving two schools down in Southern California, where 11 plaintiff alleged that she was the victim of a discrimination. The other plaintiff alleges that she was Victim of disability discrimination because she had told the school that she had breast cancer in both cases is to teachers were not given new contracts well, the Supreme Court said that under was called the Ministerial Exception. The's teachers who are primarily secular teachers. They teach things like English math spelling to fifth and sixth graders, but they also letter daily prayer. They also at least from a workbook did some religious instruction that that was enough for them to come within the ministerial exception. And basically, it's for this for the institution. In this case, the Catholic schools to say who it is, who is responsible for inculcating students with faith, etcetera, and that the government shouldn't second guess that opinion by seven to to the Supreme Court agreed with that idea, so it blows a huge hole. Ian Discrimination Law your number earlier in the term. That was the case about protection of lesbian and gays in transgender under title seven well in the religious school contacts that's gone this morning. And then if you want to go into the second, we're going to the 2nd 1 I want to. I want to break them down with you. But okay, we'll come back. Alright. The other one's called litter Sisters of the poor, and this has to do with the contraception mandate in the affordable care act and this causes. The statute requires contraception to be included among the health. The kind of Procedures that are available under the affordable health care under Obamacare, and that's caused some consternation. We've had other cases the famous hobby lobby case, saying that well if a privately held corporation and religious scruples they didn't have to offer contraception and then the Supreme Court in the year that Justice Scalia died. I asked the parties, the Obama administration and the parties, including the Little Sisters of the Poor, the lead plaintiff here to try and come up with some accommodation because the little sisters even objected to the idea that they would have to tell their health insurers that they didn't want to give the contraception. Coverage. And so instead, the by this point in the Trump administration was involved because of the change of administration in the Trump administration, came up with a very broad exemption was for religious and moral reasons that you could just as an employer. You could just say we don't want to provide contraceptive. Coverage. And while there's some nuance to it, basically as you stand by 70 to Justice Thomas for the majority said that was okay that we could have this big big exception. In the affordable care act both for religion and for moral
